Dandelion Honey Recipe
This is a really sweet recipe for anyone looking to dabble in making their own herbal cooking, or if you’re looking for a vegan alternative to honey!
Tumblr media
Ingredients:
200-250 pieces dandelion flowers freshly plucked
1 quart water
Sugar quantity according to infused water
Juice of 1 lemon
2 lemon halves
Instructions:
Pick your flowers freshly from the fields and rinse them well to get rid of any impurities and insects (add a cap of vinegar to the water to get rid of insects when washing the flower heads)
Sun-dry the flowers for 2 - 3 days
After they are dried, pick out the yellow flower blossom and keep them in a bowl. Discard the greens
Pour water into sauce pan and add flower pieces
Bring to a boil, cover and keep over slow fire for about 1 hour. Allow it to simmer slowly.
After cooking, when the water has been infused, strain the juices from the flowers well and press out all the juices of the flower. Discard the flower pieces.
Take the strained liquid back to the heat together with the sugar and lemon juice and squeezed out lemon halves (sugar quantity depends on the quantity of the strained liquid; if you have 1 quart you need 2.2 pounds sugar)
Mix well and bring to a boil
The ratio is 1:1 water and sugar. Stir well and let it cook slowly until the jelly sets OR until you are satisfied with the consistency
Skim and remove the foam on the jelly
Check if the jelly is good with a candy thermometer. The temperature needs to be 220 Fahrenheit/105 Celsius. You can also test it by dropping some hot jelly on an ice-cold plate. If it runs a lot it's not ready and needs more cooking
Sterilize your jars and keep a few drops of rum (or vodka) in the inner jar lids (helps preserve the jelly for a longer time!)
Fill your sterilized jars to the rim, close with the lid and turn upside down to create a vacuum
Leave it upside down overnight. The next day, label your jelly and store in a cool and dry place. Store in the fridge once opened

Tumblr media
This is a recipe for a cold infusion tea for mental clarity. 💕
As someone who struggles with extreme brain fog drinking this in the mornings helps me shake the fog for at least a little while.
Ingredients
🍋 Desired amount of cold water (can use sun water for energy)
🌱 2-3 or even 4 peppermint tea bags (I like mine stronger) (mental clarity)
🍋 Lemon juice to taste (energy)
🌱 Sugar (opt) (sweetness, self love)
Directions
🍋 Place sun water (or regular water) into whatever cup or glass you want.
🌱 Add in the tea bags, lemon juice, and sugar if you want
🍋 Cover with lid or tin foil or plastic wrap (whatever you have really) and place either in the sun for a few hours to infuse or in the fridge overnight to drink in the morning.
(You can place energizing and clarifying crystals around your cup or glass if in a safe space to do so)

🍲✨ Stirring Up Some Kitchen Magic! ✨🍲
Tumblr media
Hey there, witches! Did you know that your kitchen can be a magical playground for spellcasting? That's right—whether you're brewing up a batch of soup or baking a loaf of bread, you can infuse your cooking with intention and energy to manifest your desires. Here's a beginner-friendly recipe to get you started:
🌿 Magical Herb-infused Soup 🌿
🥣 Ingredients:
1 onion, diced
2 cloves of garlic, minced
2 carrots, sliced
2 stalks of celery, chopped
4 cups of vegetable broth
1 can of diced tomatoes
1 cup of cooked beans (your choice) - i really enjoy pinto or white beans in soups
A handful of your favorite herbs (such as rosemary, thyme, or basil) - i love basil and thyme (i use the Italian Seasoning blend and just focus my intent on that because college budget)
Salt and pepper to taste
🔮 Instructions:
Heat a bit of olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, stirring occasionally until they're soft and fragrant.
Toss in the sliced carrots and chopped celery, letting them cook for a few minutes until they start to soften.
Pour in the vegetable broth and diced tomatoes, bringing the mixture to a gentle boil. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
Add the cooked beans and your chosen herbs to the pot, stirring gently to combine. Let the soup simmer for another 10 minutes or so, until everything is heated through and flavorful.
Season with salt and pepper to taste, adjusting as needed to suit your preferences.
As you stir the soup, focus on your intentions—whether it's promoting health and vitality, attracting abundance, or fostering love and connection. Visualize your desired outcome coming to fruition with each swirl of the spoon.
Once your soup is ready, serve it up with a sprinkle of magic and a side of gratitude. Take a moment to appreciate the nourishment it provides for your body and soul.
As always, the most important ingredient in any magical recipe is your intention. So get creative, experiment with different flavors and ingredients, and have fun infusing your kitchen creations with a little dash of witchy charm! 🥄🔥
if you make this recipe, post it and tag me in it with #magickkate so I can see it! 🤍

granny bunny here with a kitchen witch tip to fight the sniffles this allergy season: garlic tea 🧄🍵
garlic has a ton of antibiotic properties and has been used across cultures for generations to promote immune health
lemons as we know are loaded with vitamin c, which is great for the immune system
and honey is just delicious and soothes a sore throat
to make garlic tea:
add water to a large pot
chop one clove of garlic per cup of water used (or if you’re a garlic lover like me add an entire head for about 3 cups of water)
Slice up two lemons (or any citrus of your choosing, oranges are also super yummy in this)
Pour in as much honey as your heart desires, you do you my dears
Combine all ingredients to the pot of water and bring to a boil
Strain out the garlic and lemons and enjoy!
*important disclaimer that herbal remedies such as this should never be used in place of modern medicine, but instead in conjunction with

50 KITCHEN WITCH TIPS TO MAKE YOU FEEL MORE WITCHY
(And other useful things I've learned over the years)
Hi! This is a list of dos, don'ts, tips, tricks, and other fun things that I've learned over the years. I always love finding more effective and efficient ways of doing things so if you have any cool things you'd like to add, leave them in the comments or reblog. I'd love to read it.
Anyways... On with the list ^_^
Light candles around your kitchen space (just make sure nothing flammable is near you)
Annotate your cookbooks with the correspondence of the ingredients.
Mediating is really good to calm the mind before cooking.
Cut oranges and lemons thinly, dry them, and hang them with twine around your kitchen
Need a cleansing tip? Open all your windows near your kitchen. Let some fresh air in.
Cutting sigils into apples, pie crusts, and carved potatoes.
Save lemon and orange rinds, freeze them, and then use them to clean the garbage disposal.
Make infused oils and honey: Things like garlic honey, lavender honey, herb oil, sun oil, moon oil, dandelion oil, and other different edible oils are very fun and useful to make.
Hid sigils in pages of your cookbooks and kitchen witch journals.
Add some plants! Snake plants and spider plants don't need too much light, and growing your own herbs in your kitchen is awesome too. Basil, lavender, thyme, aloe vera, rosemary, etc. are good fits. You could also add some plants that require more sunlight on the kitchen window sill. Like cacti and succulents.
Bring crystals into your kitchen space such as rose quartz, clear quartz, amethyst, or whatever you want the space's intentions to be.
I keep a small money tree on the sill, along with cacti for luck and protection.
Make a simmer Pot! Mostly because it makes the whole house smell good, easy, and fun.
Stir clockwise for best results!
Learning how to pickle things is actually pretty witchy. Plus, anyone could do it as it requires absolutely no kitchen experience. You could pickle any vegetable, even if you don't like pickles. I originally learned this after having to take shelter from a natural disaster. A person brought a bunch of stuff and taught us how to pickle things with different spices and herbs. Very fun!
Decorate your kitchen with your favorite stuff. Crystals, decor, heat mits, that cool mushroom cake stand you've been eyeing at the World Market for the past 2 weeks, cool looking curtains, sun catchers. Why stop there? Paint the walls, hang shelves full of marked-up cookbooks that are a little too well-loved and thumbed through.
Wanna be the person that has the amazing-smelling house every time people come over? Syrups take some time to simmer down, it's actually a pretty good time to leave it on the stove to simmer. Since syrups have a lot of aromatic ingredients, it acts as a really good-smelling simmer pot.
Hang up herbs to dry with twine from cabinets that are rarely used.
Invest in that new set of plates and cups.
Homemade jams, butter, sauces, and syrups are your best friend.
Crochet or knit your own dish rags, pot holders, etc.
Don't pour extremely hot things into a glass that's not Pyrex, it will break, and you will be very sad about it.
Don't cook anything while extremely upset or emotional (For safety reasons)
Make recipes you want to make, not just because you'll like the effect. Make it because you think it's tasty.
Chinese Five Spice works in place of herbs for protection and luck spells a lot of the time! It's cheaper to buy 1 spice than 4 different spices that total up to 15 dollars when you could just spend 3-4 dollars.
Take a shower before cooking (I don't know how to explain this one other than it makes you feel better)
Don't use microfiber/plastic material clothes on hot burners, it will fuse to the burner and melt. It is VERY hard to get off.
I don't know if I need to put this one but I did see someone do it so nonstick pan = wooden utensils and plastic utensils, metal pan = metal utensils. Do not use a metal spoon in a nonstick pan, please. It can make you very sick.
Keep your pets away from hot oil, open ovens, and hot pans.
You can proof bread dough in the fridge overnight if you don't have the time to bake, or want to eat fresh bread right in the morning.
Need a quick witchy meal for dinner in 12 minutes? Use premade tomato pasta sauce and doctor it up with thyme, rosemary, and garlic, for protection and distilling stagnant energies. Serve with pasta of your liking.
You can substitute Butter for Crisco/shortening, buttermilk for 1 cup of milk + 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar or lemon juice, and heavy cream for 1 cup of half and half plus 2 tbsp of butter.
Use leftover animal bones to make bone broth
Teach yourself the art of bread scoring (It's fun, and you can show it off to your loved ones!)
Collect and hoard your own and others' family recipes.
Sometimes the food doesn't have to be a spell, sometimes it just makes you feel good and you don't know why.
Listen to your favorite music in the kitchen, it makes the monotonous things like chopping veggies move faster.
Invest in a vegetable chopper if you don't like chopping vegetables.
Find a really good hot cocoa recipe and make it once a week. Master it. Just for your own happiness because hot cocoa is really good. You could also be the friend/family member that makes the best hot cocoa ever.
Focaccia Bread Lasts a very long time, and it's very easy to make!
Keep a first aid kit near where the oven is, in case of burns, cuts, or serious injuries where time is everything.
Quick Bread and no-rise loaves are simple for beginners, tasty, and take little time. They also feel very witchy to make.
Study a bit of Herbalism! It's fun and really helps better understand the herbs you're putting into your food.
While something is boiling, put your wooden spoon over the pot to minimize the chance of something boiling over.
Try a bit of coffee magick, it's simple to get into, and gives you a boost of energy to take on the day!
If you're over 21, wine-making is a very interesting way to celebrate the sabbats. Just with that, make sure you KNOW what you're doing. With anything fermented, there's always a risk if you don't store things correctly. Apple wines, strawberry wines, dandelion wines, etc. all very cool to experiment with. If you're not over 21, vinegar is a similar way to experiment.
Hang up some witchy things, sigils, photos, cool magnets, and other things that give you joy on your fridge. (Sometimes if you are lucky they have some fun magnets at five below)
If you live in the US, for some reason, there are a lot of books in the book section dedicated to witchcraft and spirituality. At least where I live. And they are all under 5 dollars!
Teas are the cheapest and easiest things you can practice being a kitchen witch.

Mabon apple pie recipe
In celebration of Mabon next week, I am sharing my favorite apple pie recipe. I chose to share this a week in advance so that those who want to make it can prepare the ingredients. All ingredients can be plant-based, for those who are vegan the egg is not necessary (you may need to add a little more butter)
Witchy tips during baking:
Mix clockwise and say your intentions for the cake out loud, this could be "I welcome abundance into my life with open arms.", "I embrace the blessings of the harvest and celebrate the abundance it brings." or if you plan to share the pie with friends and family: "May this pie nurture the bonds of love and friendship among us."
When you sprinkle the spices into the cake, do this clockwise and say each correspondence out loud as you do this: Cinnamon: for love, and warmth Cardamom: for attraction and harmony Nutmeg: for prosperity and luck
Carve sigils of choice in the bottom of the pie before adding the filling.
Ingredients For the dough: 500 grams plain flour 1 sachet (15 grams) baking powder 150 grams of white caster sugar 50 grams of light brown caster sugar 150 grams of melted butter 1 egg Pinch of cinnamon, cardamom and nutmeg
For the filling: 1-1.5 kilos of apples 100 grams soaked and patted dry raisins (optional!) 1 tablespoon cinnamon (or more, until all apples are nicely coated)
To brush the dough before it goes into the oven: To give the cake a beautiful golden color, I recommend brushing the cake with 1 beaten egg OR a dash of milk of your choice before putting it in the oven.
Preheat the oven to 190 degrees celcius (374 F)
Peel and cut the apples into wedges, sprinkle with the cinnamon and the raisins that you have pre-soaked and patted dry.
Mix all the ingredients for the dough together until it becomes a crumbly dough (it should be able to stick together and not be too dry, if this is the case I recommend adding more butter to the dough!)
Grease a baking tin with butter or oil and line the bottom with baking paper.
Divide the prepared dough into 3 parts, and put 1 part over the bottom. Press this with your hands or a spoon with a little flour on it so that the dough does not stick.
Then take 1 more part of the divided dough and press it onto the edges around the baking tin. You can roll this out with a rolling pin and cut it to size, I think this takes too long so I just press the dough along the edges (about 0.5 cm thick)
Put the apple filling in the pie and spread it evenly.
Sprinkle the last remaining part of the made dough over the pie to get an apple crumble pie, if you want a lattice top: make a ball of the dough and roll it out with a rolling pin. Cut strips from the dough that are 1.5 cm wide and long enough to cover the pie. If you are making a lattice top, brush it with egg OR milk of your choice to give it a nice golden glow. If you have a crumb top this is not necessary.
Bake the pie for 40-50 minutes, but keep an eye on the pie because every oven is different! You know the pie is ready when you insert a toothpick or skewer into it and the apples can be pierced and the dough does not remain wet around the stick.
Let the pie cool down for fifteen minutes before removing it from the baking tin.

Grocery Store Fire Cider
Tumblr media
I try to always have fire cider on hand during the colder months. Fire cider is vinegar infused with warming, expectorant (mucus-clearing) herbs to help clear out gunk from our respiratory system. It's great for clearing up congestion and helping with wet coughs. Since pretty much everyone in my house tends towards wet cold symptoms (congestion/runny nose, coughing up mucus, etc.), we go through a lot of this stuff every cold and flu season.
I take a shot of fire cider as soon as I feel congestion or a wet cough coming on, or if I've been around someone I know is sick. While it doesn't always keep me from getting sick, I do think it helps speed up my recovery and keep my symptoms less severe.
A lot of fire cider recipes online and in herbalism books call for less common herbs that need to be purchased online or from a speciality herb shop. This year, I decided to make a batch with only herbs you can buy cheaply at most grocery stores. Here's the recipe for my fellow herbalists on a budget!
You will need:
A quart mason jar
1 whole head of fresh garlic, peeled and roughly chopped, OR 3 spoonfuls of pre-minced jarred garlic
3 knobs of fresh ginger about the size of your thumb, roughly chopped, OR 3 spoonfuls of store-bought ginger paste
1 package fresh thyme OR 2 tablespoons dried thyme
1 package fresh sage OR 2 tablespoons dried sage
1 quart apple cider vinegar
There are two methods I've used to make this cider. The traditional method is a slow infusion that takes 2+ weeks, but I've also developed a fast infusion method for when I feel a cold coming on and need a batch of fire cider ASAP.
Traditional Method:
Add your herbs to a clean mason jar. Pour the vinegar over the herbs and fill the jar to the top. Put a lid on the jar. (Vinegar will corrode metal lids, so either use a plastic lid or place a square of parchment paper between your jar and the metal lid.)
Place the jar in a cool, dark place and allow it to infuse for at least 2 weeks and up to 1 month. You can strain the herbs out to store at room temperature, or you can do what I do and store the whole thing in the fridge, herbs and all.
If you leave the herbs in, you can keep this batch of fire cider going all winter by topping the jar up with more vinegar every time it gets below halfway full.
Fast Infusion Method:
Add the herbs to the mason jar like you would for the traditional method. Instead of adding vinegar, fill the jar halfway with boiling water. Let sit for 2-3 hours.
Once the water has cooled down to room temperature, fill the jar the rest of the way with vinegar. Let it sit overnight and then either strain the herbs out or store the whole thing in the fridge.
To use the fire cider, take a shot glassful whenever you feel cold symptoms coming on. If you made your cider with the traditional method, you can dilute it with water if your stomach doesn't handle acid well. You can also mix in some honey to improve the taste.
Please note that fire cider and other folk remedies are not a replacement for medical care. I highly recommend staying up to date on your flu and COVID-19 vaccines in addition to using remedies like this.

Honey Tea Loaf Recipe
I love to imagine this recipe paired with a calming, nice cup of tea in the morning or afternoon <3
This loaf is a little bit tricky, but once you get it down it's immensely rewarding!
Tumblr media
Ingredients:
1 1/3 cup all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup sugar
4 large egg yolks at room temperature
1 large egg at room temperature
1/2 cup heavy cream at room temperature
2 teaspoon vanilla bean paste
1 stick & 3 tablespoon butter at room temperature
1/4 cup honey warmed up and diluted with 2 tablespoon hot water
Instructions:
Start by preheating the oven to 350F, then butter and flour a 8.5×4.5 inch baking pan and set aside
In a medium bowl, whisk the egg yolks, egg, heavy cream, and vanilla paste
In a stand mixer bowl, sift the flour, baking powder, and salt
Add your sugar to the stand mixer bowl, then mix until incorporated
Add in your softened butter and half of the egg mixture, then beat on medium low until incorporated
Increase the speed to medium high and beat for another 3 minutes in order to create a thick, and airy cake batter
Lower the speed again, and add the remainder of the egg mixture and gently mix until incorporated
Pour the batter into the prepared baking sheet and bake for 35-45 minutes
5 minutes before pulling out your tea cake loaf, prepare the honey syrup. Mix the honey the the water in a small measuring cup or bowl, and mix until you get a smooth syrup
Brush the top of the loaf with the honey syrup immediately after pulling it out. You can also drizzle it on top if you don't have a brush
Pull the loaf out of the oven and let it cool down for 20 minutes because running a spatula around the edges, pulling it out and letting it cool down on a wire rack for another 20 minutes.
Serve immediately or store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days

As a southern kitchen witch, my favorite protection spell would have to be a making sweet tea. It can also be used as a hospitality spell. So I'm gonna share the recipe for the perfect southern sweet tea!
1 gallon pitcher
2 cups sugar (sweetness, love, friendship, hospitality, happiness)
4-5 black tea bags (I like Luiziane) (protection, energy)
Sun water or plain water
* Place tea bags into a kettle or pot or whatever it is you use to make tea with enough water to cover the tea bags (you want this strong)
* let boil for a few minutes careful not to spill over.
* place your sugar into the gallon pitcher and pour the hot tea on top of it making sure to dissolve all the sugar (this is the part where you can stir in your intentions)
* fill the pitcher the rest of the way up with cold water and place in the fridge to cool for a few hours
