Notes: hurt/comfort, fluff, super self indulgent, sometimes it’s nice to just have someone be there for you in a time of need without asking you so many questions, but they show you they care in their own way 。゚(。ノωヽ。)゚。

I hold my head in my hands as I try to mask my obvious frustration. I fail miserably when a choked out sob escapes my lips, and I feel embarrassment wash over me as I quickly look up.
I notice the way his shoulders tense, but he doesn’t turn around to look at me.
Thank goodness.
I use the opportunity to make a swift escape, all the while holding back a sea of tears. Before I can walk through the door, his arm hooks around my waist; he prevents me from fleeing.
“And where do you think you’re going?” His soft voice conveys his gentle concern as his hand soothingly rubs my arm.
I can’t answer him or I’ll break.
He doesn’t push for an answer. Instead he swivels me around, purposefully averting his eyes so he doesn’t see my face, and pulls me against his chest.
“One of the subordinates thought it would be funny to have a contest. It was a good idea since it involved cleaning, but I was horrified when I walked into a room to see soap suds covering every surface as they threw bubbles at each other. Thankfully things improved when Thoma slipped over the soap suds and landed in a pile of blankets. When he stood up some of the soap suds covered his face which gave him a funny looking beard. Ayaka walked by and couldn’t contain her laughter, and the flustered look on Thoma’s face was better than any scolding I could’ve given them.”
His story is so random but it’s comforting to hear his angelic voice, so I hum in acknowledgement. “There’s this romance series that was just released. It seems like something you’d like. The premise is a girl who acts as a secretary for her boss. The boss is rumored to be bold and intimidating, so the boss chooses to send their secretary to do their bidding. The boss’ financial advisor ends up walking in on a meeting with the secretary and their boss, but the secretary is alone. It’s revealed that the secretary is the boss and was just pretending to be a secretary to avoid some… inconveniences.” Ayato finishes his explanation and waits for my reply.
“How does that sound like something I’d like? It sounds so dumb.” My voice cracks and my bottom lip is trembling, but I snort at how stupid the plot line sounds. Ayato hums thoughtfully to himself but he continues to explain the premise of the show. “Well, the secretary ends up ‘quitting’ once her secret is revealed and properly acts as the boss. The financial advisor acts as her right hand since he’s the only one who learned of her secret and well- It seems interesting enough to give it a chance. Wouldn’t you agree?” Ayato prompts me for a response, but he doesn’t rush me for an answer.
“Alright. Wanna cuddle on the couch and watch it with me?” I ask him.
“I’d love nothing more..” Despite how sad I feel, his words warm my heart.
That’s how I end up on the couch with Ayato, laughing at the highly enjoyable romance series. At some point I end up curled against him, my entire body clinging to his arm as his free hand plays with my hair.
At some point I silently cry against his sleeve as the show continues to play, and he quietly remains by my side through it all.
Once I finish crying I feel a bit better, and I gain the courage to look at Ayato’s face.
His eyes easily meet mine and they sparkle as he wipes the remaining tears from my face. He plants a sweet kiss against my forehead before looking back at the TV screen. He chastises the financial aid for botching his kabedon attempt, only for the boss to turn the tables and outdo him.
I finally feel like I can laugh without holding back tears, and that’s when my night finally begins to improve.
Eating my favorite snacks with Ayato on the couch, watching a surprisingly good romance series.

i don’t wanna keep secrets just to keep you (and i)
summary: dating tip? just don't. for celebrities, romantic relationships are absolutely forbidden. the slightest hint of one could ruin your career. but are you even listening to the lecture? doubt it, 'cause you're doing the complete opposite. (alternatively, a celebrity au featuring secret relationships.)
→ featuring: childe, & ayato (you can really tell who my faves are)
→ warnings: angst, hurt/comfort, slight cursing, established relationship, mentions of alcohol and drinking, tension, actual cursing, unreliable reader pov, gender-neutral reader (i apologize if i missed things, i haven't proofread it yet)
→ a/n: so, hi! long time no see? i was pretty stressed with college and well, i'm back! i began writing this last year and finally got the courage to finish it. but here it is and i hope you enjoy it :> please let me know if you like it <3 it really makes my day!

the debut.
“forbidden?” you repeat.
“absolutely forbidden!” your manager says. “a rookie with no fanbase? a scandal will ruin your reputation! you're absolutely forbidden from dating anyone.”
you sigh. he's being too overdramatic.
you will never be in a relationship, you're absolutely sure. how can you? with no time for yourself as it is, dating someone with the limited hours you already have sounds impractical.
besides, you're too busy training and practicing for auditions.
remembering it now, you want to laugh.
i told you so, your thoughts chastise.
god, you should've listened.
Tumblr media
childe, the actor
“that's a wrap!” the director cheers.
your eyes glisten as you hold back tears. it's embarrassing, you think. so damn embarrassing.
you've been repeating the same kissing scene multiple times now. obviously, the director cheers for finally completing the take and not because you did a good job.
childe pats your back. “you did great,” he says, with a smile.
but you know the gesture so goddamn well. the same nonchalant cold grin he throws at everyone that he now directs at you? oh, he's angry alright.
for what reason? who knows. you're too busy wallowing in self-despair over how terrible your acting is.
the scene is supposedly simple. it involves the second lead, who happens to be you, confessing their love to the leading man, resulting to a spontaneous kiss.
yet, you're fumbling over the lines, acting so out of character, tripping over set, incorrectly initiating the kiss at awkward angles—the whole time-wasting squander.
“what's going on?” childe eventually asks, once he arrives at your shared apartment. his bag drops to the floor with a flop. “you're acting strange. the entire crew sees it, i see it, the director sees it—what if he decides to fire you? what will you do then?”
you swallow dryly. you left the set early hoping childe's hectic schedule prompted him to forget the whole issue. yet, here he is finally bringing up the conversation after what feels like a month's worth of tension.
as you sit on the sofa chair, your fingers massage the bridge of your nose. breathe in, breathe out. you repeat. don't cry. you try to calm yourself down as a sob tries to break through.
eight months, you've been a couple.
but, there are some things you're afraid to say.
each year, the biggest tabloid newspaper in the country releases an article on celebrity dating scandals. a month ago they released one single page article about a popular actor dating a newbie actress. it barely had any juicy details, just a simple paragraph of a somebody dating a nobody.
yet, it did not end well for them. and you're terrified; for when it could happen to you.
you imagine it. dozens of messages and multiple missed phone calls on your cell as your name becomes the next talk of the town. the headline reads: revealed! a nobody actress, the second-lead from the northland bank saga currently dates the nation's boyfriend, childe!
it terrifies you. you could lose your job. lose what you love doing the most. and you could get tossed aside like an old sweater under someone's bed, left to rot and decompose.
so, yes. you hesitated earlier at set because you don't want anyone to connect the dots. to look at the kiss between you two and notice something amiss. to speculate that there's more to your relationship than what meets the eye. to realize you look at him as more than a co-star. to see how much you're in love with him. to realize the both of you are dating.
“it's not easy.” you say, releasing a sigh.
two years you've been in the business. rookies barely get any roles as it is. being in a well-received rendition of an old romance drama is a once in a blue moon opportunity and you can't risk someone finding out about your relationship.
“camera shy? no—you've kissed heaps of actors for that school drama.”
you mumble, “two people aren't heaps of actors, tartaglia.”
“then what is the problem?”
childe saunters to where you sit. he leans towards you and presses his palm on the head of the sofa, trapping your body between his and the chair. childe's eyes meet yours and you instantly look away.
he knows you well enough to comprehend that look on your face. the way you hide your clammy hands behind you, the manner of your eyes staring only at your feet, how your body tucks itself into the corner of the seat.
“me?” childe whispers.
he places a hand under your jaw. his thumb softly pushes your chin upwards so your eyes meet his.
“why?” he pleads.
“you won't understand.”
“i will if you tell me,” he says, holding your gaze. seeing how you relentlessly persist on keeping your mouth shut, he shakes his head. “oh, please tell me.”
you hesitate. you tell him and then what?
you could say: hey, childe! i'm afraid of our relationship being discovered. i'll be hated by your fans. you'll be constantly drained by my crying and whining. your reputation would take a hit regardless of how popular you are and—and then he'll finally realize how exhausting and annoying it is being with you.
your self-deprecation loves to pull you deeper into its sapping embrace. you're nothing, it mouths. childe would dump you and find some other actor or actress to date. god. it would be so easy. with his popularity, good looks, and charming personality, he'd find a better and talented rising-star the moment he chucks you out the front door.
so, you shake your head firmly.
“tell me, please.” he whispers.
you cross your arms, and look away.
“are you sick?”
you shake your head.
“somebody hurting you on set?”
again, you shake your head.
childe pauses, “...do you have feelings for someone else?”
“no!”
“then what is the damn problem?”
“nothing!” you exasperate, furrowing your brows together.
childe takes your reluctance as distrust and it ignites his irritation. do you not trust him? is he that insignificant to you? what are you hiding? hell, did you fall for the main lead of the show, zhongli? or do you not love him anymore? god, he can feel himself suffocate in resentment.
is he so unimportant that you'd prefer to keep the problem to yourself? it makes his blood boil; how he'd do anything for you, but you'd rather keep it to yourself and suffer alone.
“tell me.” childe scowls as he watches your lips quiver.
you keep your mouth firmly shut.
“fine, hold your tongue.” he sneers, “i understand. i really do, baby. it's not about the cameras, the flashing lights, the audience.”
childe brushes his lips against yours, “you wouldn’t kiss me like that in public, though, would you?” he releases his hold on your chin and his sharp eyes meet yours. “it’s only behind closed doors when you care to act like we’re each other’s.”
with a hooded jacket in one hand and a face mask in another, childe swiftly leaves the apartment with a slam of a door.
leaving you alone with your wretched thoughts.
more under the cut!
despite walking out the flat hours ago, childe still reverberates jealousy and anger; pure envy at how normal you act around everyone else yet, around him you're too guarded; and angry at himself for saying those awful words to your face.
he smacks his forehead on the steering wheel. childe acknowledges how childish he's been acting. you aren't ready to talk, and he shouldn't be forcing you to speak out your difficulties.
surely, the stress is piling up on you. he knows the hours you've been working on set, memorizing lines, practicing moves—again, he thumps his head on the wheel.
stupid, he curses. control your damn temper next time.
he reaches for the box of blueberry cheesecake on the front passenger seat. subconsciously, he drove two hours (and back) to the bakery's main branch as its side branches were sold out of your favorite cake. and he knows how much you love the pastry.
however, his body slouches in the parked car outside the apartment. the long drive works miracles with his anger, but the courage to actually walk inside and apologize never comes.
the ding of a text draws his attention. ‘go inside and beg for forgiveness, brat.’ yoimiya, a fellow actress from the same company as him, says. the woman is always in the loop and well-informed.
a shiver goes down his spine. if you told yoimiya about the argument, he's absolutely sure you're furious. you'd only speak to her as a last-ditch effort; knowing her personality she'd pummel him to bits while you watch.
as a result, he stands inside the apartment, one hand knocking on your bedroom door. however, instead of tasting blood, he hears your stifled sobs. the abrupt sound convinces him to turn the knob and enter the room.
the illumination from the hallway brightens the bedroom, shining a bit of light on your face. you lay on the bed with your knees to your chest, with a blanket over your waist. your reddened cheeks and tear-stained eyes makes his stomach churn.
“please don't cry, baby.” childe cooes, kneeling by your bedside. he leans over you, his fingers gently grip your cheeks. “i'm so sorry.”
the sudden apology sprouts pools from your eyes. his thumbs brush the water off your face and softly says, “i shouldn't have said—please, don't cry. it's my fault for taking my anger out on you.”
“i'm afraid of losing you,” you whimper. “if they find out—oh god—they'll tear me apart. i'm nothing compared to you. i'd lose everything. i might even lose you—”
“never, i will never leave you. no matter what happens,” childe interjects.
you furrow your brows, sobbing. “i'm no one—too difficult,” you hiccup. “you'll throw me away. i'm too whiny and too draining. if they find out... you'll see all the comments about how ugly—”
“breathe, baby.” he settles himself on your bed and softly places you on his lap. “you're gorgeous. you're not draining, and frankly, you're cute when you whine.”
you bury your face into his neck and continue, “i'm serious, childe. you'll get exhausted. the articles will talk about you too!”
“articles, mhm. they're just articles.” he hums.
irritation begins to set in. was he this clueless? you release another sob, “they're not just articles. they'll nitpick every single thing you do! oh—look at this newbie getting together with childe. oh, they suck at acting! why is childe even—”
childe gently places his palm on your neck, coaxing you to meet his gaze. “are you talking about the tabloid from last month?”
you sigh, “what else am i talking about?” and instantly you sense his laughter resonate. “are you laughing?”
“you're adorable, baby.” he breathes, nuzzling his face on your neck.
“you're making fun of me! what the hell, childe?”
he releases a sigh, pausing his laughter. “the tabloids every month. they're paid. companies pay them to talk about their idols for publicity.”
your face contorts into confusion, “who would willingly—they talked about lumine all month because of the article! you know she's my favorite actress. why would they willingly put her on the spotlight like that?”
“publicity, baby.”
you shake your head, “it makes no sense.”
“oh, it does.” childe hums. “of course, they'd seek permission first. it boosted views for her drama, didn't it? lumine did say she got extra for the views and switched apartments.”
“yeah, wait—you knew this whole time and didn't bother to tell me?”
he chuckles, “that's what you get for keeping these things to yourself for a month.” he squeezes the bridge of your nose.
“you're terrible.”
“love you too, baby.” he teases, “and besides, if a tabloid threatened to do something—” his thumb gently traces the skin around your neck. “—i'll keep you safe.”
a soft smile graces your features. “...i'm just not ready for anyone to find out. yet, anyway.”
childe hums, “we'll do it on your terms, okay? whenever you're ready.”
“sure, i guess you can keep me for a while longer. until you throw me away and find the next rookie to—”
childe's soft laughter sparks a flutter in your stomach. he would never do such a thing. the moment he first laid his eyes on you on set, heard your beautiful laugh between takes, listened to your jokes while practicing lines, and god, seen your angelic smile? the things he would do to keep you as his.
“never.” a cheeky grin appears on his lips, “i'll take care of you.”

bonus: five years later
your phone rings. the vibration continues on and off, signaling multiple inbox messages. you swipe your phone to see texts from several of your close friends.
‘i know you told me you were okay with it, but i didn't think he'd try to do it so soon. i tried but he's too hardheaded.’ says yoimiya.
‘congratulations! when's the wedding? i'm kidding. don't kill childe.’ says thoma, an actor from your same company.
‘sorrows, sorrows, prayers.’ says venti, your current co-star.
you even receive a message from childe himself.
‘good morning, baby. i'm completely fault-free. simply honoring your wishes as a devoted fiancé should.’
attached to a message was a link to a video entitled: please don't kill me honey.
you click the link.
the video's blurry, as if taken by a cellphone. you recognize thoma as the person videoing the whole scene, as he turns the camera to face him before focusing it on a woman—seemingly a fan of childe. she wears merch from his most recent drama.
a fan goes on stage chosen by a random lottery draw. the said fan wins the chance to interview childe, who was the guest of the day for talk show, and ask one question.
the girl hastily walks on stage, holding a microphone given by staff.
“um. hello, childe!”
the audience screams as the huge video screen focuses on your lover's face. he waves a quick ‘hello’ and the crowd yells louder.
the girl hesitates, “are you dating anyone right now?”
childe twists the microphone in his hands. “hm? right now... i'm not dating anyone.”
the crows sighs in relief, utterly happy their favorite leading actor continues to be single.
but you see the outline of a smirk flashing on his face, and you instantly know there's a deeper meaning to that sentence. “but, it's difficult to say... since we're not really dating as of the moment.”
quietly, you hear the voice of yoimiya whispering, “don't do it.” the camera now focusing on her, trying to get herself on stage. thoma flips the camera around to face it on himself, waving a hello, apparently enjoying the drama. he then focuses the camera on the wide screen, featuring childe's face.
to add mayhem into the mix, childe continues, “i don't think being engaged to your partner falls under dating. we're way past that.”
the interview ends with the audience screaming their lungs out in disbelief, while childe's laugh resonates the whole auditorium.

ayato, company director
“oh, them?” ayato's steady gaze meet yours, pressing his lips in a tight-lipped smile. “they're a friend of mine.”
friend. it echoes in your mind, repeating incessantly. friend. friend. friend.
dread creeps into the pit of your stomach akin to a quick flick of a lighter. after all this time, your stomach lurches. is that all he thinks of you?
god, you need a drink.
the businessmen before you smile, prompting you to return the favor. subsequently, you humbly introduce yourself as just an ‘actor in the industry’. and they laugh. of course they do.
who wouldn't know you? a multi award-winning movie and television star with piles of nominations. so modest, they say. so kind, they praise. you grin, the smile not reaching your eyes, thanking them for their compliments.
but you're so accustomed to their fake smiles, ingenuine flattery, and sweet talk; you never truly know what's actually honest and real—eyes flickering to your azure-haired partner—no, who's honest and real.
you swallow the thought down.
as if aware of the invisible daggers thrown his way, ayato's gaze meets yours. his lips are pressed firmly together, eyes devoid of warmth.
not now, his expression conveys.
you narrow your own eyes, irritation burning through your corneas. as much as you want to start an argument in front of his investors, you agree to his silent insistence. after all it's his gala; one he's tirelessly prepared for over several months.
so you bite your tongue and smile: one honed by years of acting—fake yet strangely genuine.
it's not strong enough. you say, sipping wine with shaky hands. earlier, you left ayato to his fellow businessmen using the excuse of needing a bathroom break, a reason to which he obliged.
you stare at the elaborate party before you, wishing you could go home. the gala swiftly dissolved your social battery, aided by forced mingling and bitterness. a friend, your consciousness repeats. always a friend. so you sit on a chair by the wall, sipping drinks like water.
suddenly, the hairs of your neck stand on end. you sense his presence behind you, prompting a glance through your peripheral vision.
“careful, darling.” ayato's says, tone smooth yet laced with warning. “i'd rather not have you collapsing. your lovely face wouldn't compliment these filthy floors.”
you tense immediately, shoulders stiffening. “reverting back to pet names, i see?”
ayato's hand now rests on your shoulder, his thumb brushing your soft skin. “what seems to be the issue? i doubt it's due to the eight glasses of wine you've consumed in one sitting.”
you roll your tongue in your mouth, practicing the words. let's break up. you bite your tongue. let's see other people. besides, he wouldn't care would he? it's not as if he's been acknowledging you as someone he's been dating, has he? hiding your relationship from his business partners is one thing, but concealing it from closest friends? his family? that's an entirely different matter altogether.
a friend, he says to his business partners.
a star from the company, he answers to his closest friends.
a companion, he whispers to his family.
you're sick and tired of it. all of it.
raising the wineglass to your lips, you drown the drink in one go. you raise two fingers signaling the waiter for another drink.
ayato sighs and you think you feel his hand on your neck tighten, ever so slightly. “you've reached your limit with wine, dear.”
soon, the waiter arrives with three more glasses on his tray. ayato's disapproving glare compels the waiter to scurry across the ballroom floor, steering clear of you.
you click your tongue and begin, “who says so?”
“your fiancé,” he mutters, voice dripping with venom.
you immediately scoff. “sure. for your sake, i'll pretend you mentioned that earlier.”
before ayato could retort, the presence of another individual calls his attention; his younger sister, ayaka.
“brother, the sangonomiya heir's requesting your presence.”
he sighs, irritation etching his features. yet, you blink, catching a subtle shift in his expression—seemingly twisting from annoyance to something resembling relief at the mention of sangonomiya's name.
you swallow the bitter thought.
“watch them for me, could you? i'd rather not have them find a server willing to disobey my instructions and serve them a drink,” ayato whispers, his tone betraying a hint of tension that doesn't go unnoticed.
ayaka nods. her consent prompts the older brother to depart, heading towards the misty rose-pink heir who stands at the opposite side of the ballroom.
ayaka says the inevitable, “you should let him know it bothers you.”
“...i'm not sure what you're referring to.”
her gaze follows yours, observing the giggling and cheerful countenances of the kamisato and sangonomiya heirs. they seem to be enjoying their time together. as always, you remark.
“they're just close friends, you know.”
you click your tongue. “like how him and i are just friends?”
ayaka sighs, understanding your implication. “you know what i mean.”
sangonomiya's hand on your partner's shoulder elicits an exasperated sigh from you. “thoma told me they were to be married if i wasn't here.”
“the man always running his mouth—” she takes a calming breath before continuing, “—but brother's very fond of you. i'm his sister, i should know.”
“then how come after dating him for five years, he still calls me his friend.” you pause, a hand sliding into the right pocket of your outfit. you absentmindedly play with the engagement ring inside. “i'm his fiancé, aren't i?”
“he has his reasons. petty reasons.”
you bite your tongue. or he's embarrassed of you.
you met the kamisato company heir two years after your debut as an idol. as you shifted towards acting, you developed a close relationship with his sister, a seasoned actress from the same company. eventually, she became the bridge that strengthened the bond between the two of you.
you dedicated yourself nonstop, evolving from a rookie actor to a multiple-nominee and winning star; all in the pursuit of being able to openly show off your relationship with ayato without it tarnishing your reputation.
however, when you're prepared to finally reveal your relationship, he isn't.
and it leaves you wondering, is there someone else?
you mean, you're hesitant to doubt the love of your life. but considering he's kept your relationship a secret from everyone for years, it's obvious he's adept at keeping things hidden.
even from you.
and the thought sours your mood.
excusing yourself once more to use the restroom, using the premise of consuming ten glasses of wine, you bid adieu to your favorite kamisato (at the moment). you instead head towards a secluded balcony away from prying eyes.
you stare at the garden below. your eyes quickly blink back the tears threatening to fall. not now, you hiss. don't do this to me, not right now.
“i assumed you would have retreated to your room by this point.” his voice murmurs, unnervingly composed.
you turn around to see your partner holding a glass of wine. his features remain blank, inscrutable.
maybe it's because of all the wine you've been drinking. you can't seem to tell between what's real or not.
“what did you discuss with kokomi?”
“i wasn't aware you were both on a first name basis.”
“answer the question.”
he smiles, “business as always.”
you huff and wrap your hands around your arms. “of course. just business.”
ayato immediately picks up the anger in your tone. he lays his palm on your forearm, gently pulling you towards him. “look at me,” he pleads, with a subtle trace of irritation in his voice.
you turn to look at his face, eyes glaring.
“i felt your glares the entire night.” he begins.
you shrug, smiling innocently. “...what ever do you mean?”
“don't toy with me, darling.”
as he enunciates his answer, it's as if the final thread of your patience snaps. does he still continue to feign innocence and lie to your face?
last month he proposed and you were overjoyed. you then expected a shift in your relationship; the final unveiling of your engagement to the public. you gave him your permission, a definitive “i'm ready for everyone to know.”
yet thirty days later the engagement remains concealed leaving only a few of his friends (thoma) and a few family members (ayaka) knowing about your updated relationship.
if it was the ayato from two years ago, he would be delighted—ecstatic even—to reveal the truth. he might have used the gala today as an avenue to scream to the world, this person and i are in love.
but he didn't.
so the weight of your feelings began to drag you down; it almost feels suffocating in a way. as if a ribbon labeled, he's ashamed, tightly winds around your insides, intricately tying them all together into a sophisticated bow sowing distrust whispering; he's hiding something.
your suspicions, coupled with his frequent visits this month to the sangonomiya estate, fueled your frustration until it erupted. if only he ceased pretending innocent, perhaps you would able to smile through the whole facade.
if only he didn't ask.
“i'm not naive. if you developed feelings for kokomi then you shouldn't have proposed.” you snap. “was it out of pity? did you feel so damn guilty that you chose to go through with the engagement instead of being honest about your feelings?”
ayato furrows his brows, mouth tightening in anger. “what are you talking about? i discuss private affairs with kokomi. business affairs.”
you laugh; one infused with irritation and disbelief. “don't tell me then. keep your stupid secrets.”
“do you want me to jot down a damn list detailing every single thing i do in a day?” he growls. “i won't divulge company secrets just because you feel like throwing a tantrum.”
your hands drift to the tie around his neck, tugging the crooked tie straight. “no. go ahead and keep your secrets.” you pause and roll the words with your tongue, “you're clearly very good at keeping secrets. you’ve kept me—us—as a secret for so long, so of course you’d be good at keeping fucking secrets.”
anger flares across his face. “you desired our relationship to remain a secret, and i respected your wishes.” he sneers, “i wanted to let the damn world know how much i'm in love with you yet, it was the opposite of what you desired.”
ayato releases his grip on you and strides back into the ballroom, but he halts right at the door to the balcony. “so don't dictate when i should reveal the truth simply because you've grown sick and tired of keeping me as your dirty, little secret.”
he finally departs; and you stay, tears pooling, with a profound ache in your heart.
ayato waltzes around the room in a nonchalant dance; yes, good to see you. he lies. how's business? he couldn't care less. enjoy the party! no, he wants everyone in the damn room to feel his wrath.
although he yearns to set the entire ballroom ablaze, ending the party prematurely would be ill-manned of him. so, ayato continues being a gracious and honorable host.
but he feels hollow. he envisions himself freezing the entire room in an icy gust, everyone turning into statues. he wants to sprint back into your arms and plead for you to listen.
he doesn't understand what came over him. why he lost his temper like that. typically, he'd manage your outbursts with composure and understanding. what happened? he doesn't know.
he attributes his outburst to the mounting pressure. the chronic lack of sleep and continuous exhaustion coming from his title as heir. perhaps it's the truth gnawing his skin; despite his powerful position atop the company, it can easily be ripped away with the flick of a wrist.
instead of spending time with his fiancé—he doesn't know if he still deserves to call you that, you probably threw away his ring the second he left the balcony—yet here he is, engaged in conversations with business associates he cares little about.
“brother?” ayaka calls. she finds him leaning against a railing of stairs. “i closed off the gardens.”
ayato swallows. he last saw you sneaking towards the grounds. “they're still on the grass?”
“yes.”
“they'll catch a cold.”
“they will.”
he glances at his sister. “they think i'm unfaithful.”
“i know,” she says matter-of-factly. “have you offered them any evidence to convince them otherwise?”
ayato stays silent.
“i know you care about them, brother.” ayaka sighs, “however, surprising them with a specially crafted ring and being petty when your entire relationship is at stake may not be the wisest move.”
he sighs.
“most especially if they suspect that your frequent visits to the sangonomiya manor are fueled by romantic feelings for its heiress, and not for their own wedding ring.”
after a while, ayato spots you lying on the grass in a starfish formation, having finally swallowed his pride. his eyes glaze over your features: red eyes, cheeks marked with tear stains, and an exhausted expression.
“can we talk?” he begins.
you spare a quick glance before turning your attention back to the night sky. “there's not much to talk about.”
“i'm not cheating,” he asserts.
“i know.”
“do you know, or have you resigned yourself to not knowing?”
“hm,” you hum. “a part of me entertains the thought of you cheating. yet an even smaller part absolutely knows that if you were truly cheating, you'd be more discreet. who, in their right mind, would inform thoma that you visited her manor?”
he chuckles, a laughter-less sound escapes him. “i understand i've been secretive. you have every right to assume i'm up to something indecent. but i have my reasons.” ayato confesses, kneeling beside your body. he places his hand inside his suit pocket, pulling up a black small box.
you instantly sit up. “you're horrible,” you cough, eyes widening as he opens the box to show a ring. “this entire time you were—god.”
“i placed a special order,” he mumbles. “i visited each day to ensure it was flawless, right down to the smallest details.”
“i'm so sorry.”
“don't be, love.” he breathes, “you had your reasons, and i was insistent on keeping it a surprise.”
relief floods your features. “good,” you whisper before tears well in your eyes.
the sound of your sobs breaks his heart. he immediately wraps his arms around you, brushing his lips on your cheeks.
“i'm sorry, darling,” he murmurs, kissing the skin above your brow. “i'm sorry for worrying you.”
“goddamn sadistic,” you sob. “you knew i was freaking out, but you just watched!”
he grins, “i have to admit, you look cute when you're jealous.”
a groan escapes you. “don't make me throw away both rings.”
“is that so? i should've ordered twenty spares.”
“no.” you scold.
“oh? look at my darling, so jealous,” he smirks, nuzzling his face into your neck. you then feel his lips press into a straight line. “you're not something i would ever try to hide. i would never be ashamed of our relationship.”
you laugh, “prove it.”
your smile faces seeing the smirk on his face. in that exact moment, you know that kamisato ayato, the preposterous god in human flesh, plans to do something grand and explosive to prove you otherwise.
“do not.” you begin, “we've talked about this. you cannot—you absolutely will not bribe the government to declare our wedding date as a national holiday!”
Tumblr media
bonus: ten minutes before the clash
“is it getting warm in here, or am i sensing the intense gaze of your loving fiancé on me?” kokomi laughs, sipping a glass of champagne.
ayato takes a peek, and he chuckles upon seeing your irritated and jealous expression. “they certainly are.”
“please do not involve me in your lovers' quarrels. everyone knows we're just close friends.”
“they do.”
“have you told them?”
“...it may have slipped past my mind.”
kokomi shakes her head. “sadistic.” she slips a black box into his palm. “clear it up. i do not want to be murdered by your future partner.”
ayato glances at you from across the room as you engage a conversation with his sister. “mhm, i could, but their jealous expression is too endearing.”
“sadistic,” she repeats. “absolutely sadistic.”
he chuckles.
“also, kazuha mentioned that you've been referring to them as your companion. correct that.” she continues, “and stop calling them your friend!”
“they asked me to when we started dating.”
she rolls her eyes. “you're so petty. stop trying to provoke them!”
“anyways, everyone knows we're engaged,” he corrects. “their whining face is the cutest.”
“sadistic.”
“kokomi?”
she tilts her head and hums, “yes?”
“ever wondered how much it costs to propose a national holiday?”
Tumblr media
author’s note: lmao. so in this modern au ayato actually succeeds in turning your wedding date into a national holiday. the government actually appreciates his donation because a.) they always accept goodwilled (lmao) funds and b.) ayato's an important pillar to the gov and they don't want to upset him 'cause petty rich boy tantrums tilt the economy (how sadistic).
so, ayato's the heir of the company where you are employed at as an idol turned actor/actress. kokomi is the heiress to a big jewelry corporation. lmao they were both engaged together when they were like five but they instantly broke it off because well, they both threw five year old tantrums.
plus thoma telling you that they were to be engaged was just a fact he blurted out when you asked about kokomi (he manages to omit the five-year-old part because he's careless + he didn't think it matters because anyone can tell ayato's intensely in love with you)

I. “Why do you keep avoiding Yuki?” Ayato says with contempt, making you flinch at the tone of his voice. Kamisato Ayato is angry, all because of her. Your heart drops at the thought, yet you can’t help but feel a surge of negative emotions. Recently there have been rumors circulating about Kamisato Ayato and Kaedahara Yuki: rumors of Infidelity.
You heard of the rumors accidentally during a social party. Before the mask came crashing down, Kamisato Ayato would clarify every rumor regarding the commission. However, despite hearing the distasteful rumor in-person, he stayed still, deciding to stay ignorant.
You stood still as you stared at him in disbelief. Thoughts of questions about his purpose and why he is feigning ignorance circulate in your head. You felt ill, those rumors would damage his and your reputation, something that you both hold dear. But, he stood still, almost like he was enjoying the rumors.
Why? why? WHY?
That was until everything came into place. You snapped your head away from his figure, painfully smiling to yourself as you finally understood why he was feigning ignorance. The gossipers would continue till Lady Kaedahara Yuki would personally tell them that it isn’t true. Curiously, you glanced at the commissioner, and oh how you would regret doing that.
His smile was forced, and his gaze held a bit of disappointment. You stare at him in disbelief, your heart shattering even more. God, Kamisato Ayato broke your heart once more, what did you do to deserve this?
But, you can’t help but laugh at the irony.
You and Kamisato Ayato have one thing in common: you both enjoy your delusions of being loved by the person you wish they hold you dear.
Kamisato Ayato’s love for Kaedahara Yuki is unrequited.
“[Name], I asked you a question,” says Ayato, snapping you back to reality.
“Ah. I’m sorry, I was just lost in thought,” you continue, putting on a small smile to hide your thoughts, “What did you say?”
“Why do you keep avoiding Yuki?”
God, he says her name with so much endearment it’s making you want to cry.
“Oh? I have never avoided Lady Yuki,” you reply with a smile.
It’s a lie, of course. You have been avoiding the former Kaedahara heir ever since her return to Inazuma. Though, it isn’t exactly avoiding, it is more like not meeting her unless needed. Furthermore, you and Kaedahara Yuki have not been acquainted before, so there was no reason to greet her.
However, the truth is, you can’t face her— your fiance's one-sided crush. She’s beautiful, charismatic and a person blessed by God, everything that you are not.
You fear that one day, jealousy would taint your mind and only her highness, the shogun, would know what you would do. After all, jealousy is a deadly disease that taints both the mind and heart, a disease that could only be cured by love. But, you don’t have that luxury, do you?
Ayato sighs with frustration as he runs his fingers through his hair. “Whatever you say,” he dismisses your defense, “Don’t make her feel bad ever again.”
And so, he leaves, leaving you once more once again.
II. As a child, you have always dreamed of a grand wedding. You, standing side by side with your lover as they look at you with a loving expression as you swear your love in front of all your friends and family; And the wedding garment of your dreams adorning your body, making you radiate like you bathed in fairy dust.
The grand wedding of your dreams should be the day you would only feel happiness, and nothing else.
So, you await for the day that someone would give you the wedding of your dreams, someone who would give you the world just because you asked for it. And the day you met your fiance, you believed that he would be the one to do so.
Yet impressions are different from their true human nature. The impressions you perceive from people are nothing but ideas you created in your head to fill in the lack of information you have regarding that person. The impressions you formed would then form a mask that would cunningly cover your judgment towards that person, staying ignorant to his ‘true’ nature.
Kamisato Ayato’s ‘mask’ was never there, your perception of people was just too naive and immature to handle a cunning man like the commissioner; it could not perceive Kamisato Ayato’s ‘true’ nature. But, who are you to blame? That man is cunning like a snake, crawling onto your skin as it makes you succumb to naivety. Therefore, you got yourself fooled and your hopes went up all because of your naivety and ignorance; Your impression on that man ruined your life.
Your dream wedding shattered in an instance, and your dreams for a happy future disappeared. Life has never been a rosy path with Archons smiling down at you as you obtain your happiness– so your experience is only natural, right?
‘This is reality,’ you would say to yourself, trying to cope with your indescribable distress, ‘Life should be nothing like the novels I’ve read.’
Your love for reading starts to dissipate, replaced with a sense of hatred. You hate reading, it was the reason why you were so naive, so caught up with the illusions that you ruined your perception towards people.
You can’t do this anymore, you can’t star in a play you didn’t want to be in.
You have to leave, you need to.
You would rather die than spend the rest of your life chained towards someone who sees you as a nuisance in his unrequited love.
But, How?
How can you, a sheltered child who only knows how to drown themselves in fantasies, run away from your family, friends…
Ayato?
You pitifully laugh at yourself, tears welling up in the corners of your eyes.
You’re pathetic.
You need to change.
III. “I’m worried about Master [Surname],” Ayaka confesses with her head down. Ever since the Irodori festival, she has seen less and less of her future in-law which makes her worried. Kamisato Ayaka adores you, much to her brother’s surprise. The two would usually converse over tea about the latest release from Yae’s Publishing House, laughing and joking around about how the latest chapter was out of your expectations.
Kaedahara Yuki listens to the younger Kamisato intently. Truth be told, she is curious about Kamisato Ayato’s, her childhood friend, Fiance, after all, she has never conversed with the aristocrat. Furthermore, you would be wed into a family that she considers her own, so who could blame her? Though, she has heard of you from a distance: the high-ranking aristocrat from the prestigious [Surname] family who is known to be collected and benevolent, delicate like a flower on top of a lake.
Every time she asks Kamisato Ayato about his fiance, he would brush it off and discuss their childhood memories, dismissing her curiosity. She would press Kamisato Ayato for details about his fiance, even begging him to introduce her to her. But as usual, Kamisato Ayato would dismiss her attempts, making her feel down.
But, if the oldest Kamisato can’t give her any information, shouldn't she ask from the youngest?
“I haven’t seen Master [Surname] since the Irodori Festival and it is making me worried,” Ayaka sighs, her expression down.
“Have you tried contacting them?”
“I did try to request an audience with them, but the servants said that they wish to be alone,” Ayaka pouts. “Have you ever seen them, Lady Yuki?”
Kaedahara Yuki blushes in embarrassment, “Oh Ayaka. Please don’t use ‘Lady’ to me anymore. I am no longer part of nobility.”
Ayaka giggles.
And so, Kamisato Ayaka stops talking about you.
Kaedahara Yuki isn’t cunning, so she does not press the youngest Kamisato anymore answers despite her curiosity; Though, if it was Ayato, she would continue to demand answers till her throat sores.
However, if an opportunity ever occurs where she could meet you, she would grasp that opportunity immediately, paying no mind to the effects it has on others.
IV. “Aren’t you Master [Surname]?” ask Kaedahara Kazuha as you nervously avoid his gaze.
Oh fuck.
You messed up.
For the first time, you decided to take a stroll on the streets of Inazuma late at night alone. You know this is a stupid decision, especially for someone as high as yourself. However, you needed a breather, and your family estate started to feel suffocating, so your only plan is to take a stroll alone. You knew your parents wouldn’t allow you to walk around the streets of Inazuma at night, especially without an escort, so sneaking out was only the option.
So, you hatched your plan. Though it was your first time sneaking out, you’ve read countless novels of the heroine running away to enjoy themselves in festivals. Hence, you have an idea of how to sneak out.
It was 10:30 PM, nearing midnight. You disguise yourself using old clothes you stole from your servant, stripping all your jewelry in your possession, and only keeping a few silver coins. Sneakily, you slid past your servants and guards, climbing out of your estate’s wall. It took you a few tries due to your lack of physical strength; however, after some attempts, you succeeded. You quickly run away from your estate; The cool night breeze brushes your face as the song of the trees accompanies you on your journey. You smile to yourself-- for the first time in your life-- you felt free.
However, your adrenaline rush was caught short as you spotted a man with silver hair in the distance.
You tried your best to avoid him, but the man has the wind by his side. And so, here you are.

You awkwardly laugh, “Kaedahara Kazuha, it is a pleasure to meet you.”
Kaedahara Kazuha stays quiet; his eyes are wide in shock as he notices your tattered clothing and unkempt appearance. You are a person of high regard, never in your life have you worn poor-quality garments and presented yourself unsightly. Even as a young child, Kaedahara Kazuha could only observe you from a distance due to the immense status gap, despite being a former aristocrat. Therefore, he can’t help but be shocked at your appearance.
..
...
'Ah. I am doomed.' You thought. Today is your first time sneaking out of your estate, and you got caught. Sweat rolls down your cheek as you wait for the younger Kaedahara to reply. Numerous thoughts fill your mind as you wait, countless of which was fueled by anxiety.
'What if he tells on me?' 'If he ever tells this to Ayato, would I be disposed of for being improper?' 'If my family finds out, I would never be allowed to step foot outside of my family estate.'
Your expression darkens as you fall into despair, realizing the gravity of the situation. For the first time, you felt free, no longer trapped in a well-decorated cage like an ornament for display. However, you got caught.
Suddenly, Kaedahara Kazuha speaks.
"Don't worry," he says as you slowly look up at him, "I won't tell anyone." Your mouth was slightly ajar, confused. "Huh?" You mutter.
Kazuha smiles, "Everyone has their reasons for running away."
"But I'm not running away," you refute. Kazuha looks at you confused, "Huh?"
"I'm just here for a stroll," you state.
"Ah." Kazuha rubs the back of his neck, embarrassed, "I apologize for the assumption."
"It's alright," you smile.
An awkward silence fills the air as you two refrain from talking. Truth be told, this is Kaedahara Kazuha's first time conversing with you; moreover, he is not one to chat with children from other aristocratic families-- that was his sister's job. Due to this, he does not know what to say.
Regardless, this does not stop him from worrying. Why? Probably because you are his former superior's fiance? Who knows. Furthermore, Kazuha knows better than to leave you alone at night. Though you are wearing old and poor-quality clothes, your aura screams "rich noble", which can make you a target for petty thieves.
So, Kaedahara Kazuha makes a decision.
"I won't tell anyone," He repeats. "However, please allow me to accompany you, master [Name]."

“You should take a break, ‘Yato. You’ve been working for hours nonstop.” You said, concerned about your boyfriend. He seemed like he’d had enough, the expression on his face anything but pleasant. Wanting him to unwind for a bit, you suggested, “Maybe we could go for a short walk along the beach? That would surely freshen you up a bit.”
“Get out.” he said coldly, eyes never leaving the countless papers scattered around his desk. “You’re disturbing me. These papers have to reach the Shogun by nightfall, I don’t have to time to rest, and you’re suggesting a walk? Idiot. Can you not see how busy I am?” He hadn’t had a break in ages, was completely sleep deprived (like me), big bags under his eyes and incredibly pissed off in general, increasing your worry for him. You tried again. “‘Yato, that’s why I’m saying you should relax for a bit. Some fresh air would do you good, you’re very agitated right now.” “Of course I am!” He snapped, slamming his hands on his cluttered desk as he stood to look at you. “You’ve been such a nuisance recently, you know that? Always nagging me, ‘Yato do this, ‘Yato do that. Can’t you take a hint and leave me alone?”
He missed the hurt that flashed in your eyes as you swiveled around. “Alright, Ayato, I’ll leave you alone.” You immediately left and banged the door shut behind you. And leave him alone you certainly did.
~⟬◍⟭~
It was early dawn, and the cold grey light filtered through the windows of Ayato’s dark office. He’d been there the entire night, and had just managed to dispatch that set of papers to Inazuma City. Leaning back in his chair, he thought of how you’d scold him for his unhealthy habits, before he remembered the way he’d snapped at you, and the hurtful things he’d said. Shit, he didn’t mean any of that, if anything, it touched him how you always looked out for him. He really owed you an apology, big time. He walked out of the office for the first time since yesterday’s lunch, and went straight to your quarters, knocking on the door. “Love, are you there? Can I talk to you?” He received no response. “Love?” He tried again.
Just then Thoma passed by, confused on seeing Ayato knocking fruitlessly on your door. “Milord, [Y/N] isn’t here. I believe she mentioned yesterday night that she was going out for a bit, somewhere around Watatsumi Island? It was weird, but she was also acting weird so I let her be. She also added that she had some urgent business there.”
“Oh..” Ayato murmured. “Alright.” But his heart did not calm down, the bad feeling in the pit of his stomach increasing. You two were dating. Surely you’d come back, right? Right?
~⟬◍⟭~
Wrong. It had been days, yet you still hadn’t returned. Ayato grew more and more worried with every passing hour. Were you safe? You hadn’t been ambushed or anything, had you? Were you upset? Were you angry with him? Had he really messed up that bad? Surely he didnt…
A week passed, and Ayato couldn’t take it anymore. He handed over the duties of the Yashiro Commission to Ayaka for a while, and set off for Watatsumi Island on a waverider in the dead of night. It took him an entire day to reach there, frantically searching for his beloved along the way. The moment he docked on the shores of Watatsumi Island, he immediately started searching around for your whereabouts, not even caring about hunger or thirst. Fear was the only thing he felt, a fear of you leaving him. The soldiers looked so confused on seeing the Yashiro Commissioner running around, but did not question it. One helpful recruit told him that she was wandering near the Sangonomiya Shrine, and off he was.
“[Y/N]!” He exclaimed, on finally, finally, catching sight of you sitting beneath a tree, a butterfly perched on your finger. The loud sound he made startled away the butterfly, and you looked up at him, before getting up and walking away without a word. “[Y/N], wait please, can I talk to you, please?” He pleaded, catching up to you. You merely shook off his hand and continued walking. “Why are you here, Kamisato Ayato.” You said coldly. “Your wish was for me to leave you alone, and I did that. Why are you following me then?” “[Y/N], I messed up, I know, can you please hear me out? I never meant any of that, I really didn’t, I swear. I was just really anxious and irritated and worried, and I let it out on you. I swear, I’ve been regretting it with every fibre of my being. I love you, you know that, I love you so much, you can never be a nuisance to me, in fact, you’re my saving grace. If I could take back everything I said, if I could turn back time, I would. [Y/N], please, could you forgive me? Please come back to me? I can’t live without you…”
Your eyes involuntarily softened as you stepped back a bit to observe him. He seemed even more tired and upset than the last time you’d seen him, if that was even possible. But this time, there was desperation painted on his features. “Ayato, you really hurt me, you know that right? I was worried for you, all I was trying to do was help you out. So when you snapped at me, I felt really terrible.” You told him quietly. He instantly said, “I know, I realised that. You have no idea how much I appreciate you always looking out for me. I never ever wanted to hurt you. I’m sorry… I’m really, really sorry [Y/N].” He whispered.
You sighed, extending your arms, hugging him tightly. “Come here, ‘Yato.” , and his heart nearly burst on hearing that nickname again after more than a week. He buried his face in your neck, relishing that warm and soft embrace of yours after so long. You gently ran your hands through his hair. “Apology accepted. But you better not do it again, or else-” “I won’t.” He quickly said. “Did I tell you how much I love that nickname?”
You returned with him to the Yashiro Estate, and ever since then, Ayato had been so much sweeter, always minding his words, and spoiling you rotten, despite your protests. But you accepted it, happy to be with your caring boyfriend again.
hehe kazu, i hoped you liked it, even tho its not much :)

Ayato:
-I’ll be so fucking supercalfraglicious rn, that man won’t even be able to spend it with you.
-Yoimiya and Ayaka def bet 10$ he forgets acc
-but because I’m SUCH a sucker for angst to fluff
-In the morning, he won’t even know what day it is. He’ll be to tired to comprehend anything. He’s not a morning person in the slightest
-He does wake up before you though due to the work, so you’ll still be asleep while he greats ready and gives ur forehead a lil smooch before he heads out to do any tasks or duties
-you’ll wake up upset to see NO GIFT LIKE WTF
-richest man in Inazuma CANT even get u anything ?!
-maybe he left it for thoma so he can give it to you when you wake up!!
-when you go eat breakfast, ur eyes light up to see thoma holding a gift but slightly dim when it’s none other than his and not your beloveds.
-nonetheless your happy you got a gift !!
-it’ll be a few hours and STILL no gift. Thoma tells you with a sad dog pout face that Ayato did forget
-so you actually spend the day with him!!! thoma >>>>>
-your back in the evening, signs of daylight all gone as night was to hit
-when ur back you fully come to terms Ayato did forget about your birthday because he didn’t even wish you a happy bday :)
-you walk past him sitting on the bed with a few bags of stuff you liked that Thoma bought as another gift and Ayato looked at you confused
“Who bought you all of that?” He asked, sitting up and setting a few work files down on the bed.
“Thoma.” You answered, not even sparing him a glance.
“Confusion grew more along with a tinge of jealousy. “What was the occasion?”
“My birthday.”
-I’m telling u rn any type of emotion DROPS
-he lowkey might start crying
-hell ask u to sit on the bed and apologize for everything and like just kiss u all over and if ur still mad he’ll understand but like god knows you can’t stay mad at him
-he acc takes u on a shopping spree the next day and tasks Thoma with inviting all of your friends so when you get back to the estate, it’s none other than a surprise party!!
Albedo
-HE DOESNT EVEN KNOW WHAY A BIRTHDAY IS
-thankfully you explained it to him a few weeks before your birthday and even if he isnt human, he’d like to partake in it
-but he’s never done this before so he has to seek out Kaeya for them
-he went to Klee first but decided It wasn’t best to give you a bomb for your birthday
-Kaeya tells him all type of gift ideas and Albedo acc saves up a bunch of his money to buy you all your favourite stuff
-he’s so cute
-he tries to bake a cake
-key word tried
-his cake became demolished like alchemy couldn’t even fix it
-it was adorable though and you thanked him for everything. he forgot about work the whole day just for you :)
Alhaitham
-i cant decide if he forgets or is just too busy to spend it with you
-I think he’ll forget to call off work on the day of your birthday and won’t be able to spend it with you
-like he remembers your birthday but his slow ass just couldn’t remember to call off work
-he does have a present ready for you though! and a long message he sent to your Akasha while he was at work
-he actually did come home early just for you
-insert him twirling you around omfjwknfkwjdjwdjjed
-so if u decide to go out, he’ll take you to a very fancy and expensive restaurant and give u ur gift there
-if u decide to stay in he’ll bake a cake from scratch with you (those cute movie scenes where there’s like flour on both of ur faces)
-and then end the night watching a movie and falling asleep or birthday fuck, ur choice
Aether
-THIS MAN DOES NOT FORGET
-he’s just too busy he can’t spend the whole day with you
-BUT he takes you on commissions with him!!
-big mistake
-so u end up getting hurt and he has to take you to the nearest like hospital or whatever they have in that world
-he’ll probably just cry out of guilt because it’s ur birthday and part of his gift was that you practically almost die
-memorable birthday in my opinion
-birthday scar !!!
-he gives paimon a bunch of mora so she can go buy food and you both end up spending your birthday in the hospital
-hey at least he’s with you !!
-he acc crawls in the hospital bed beside you and your both just cuddling
-paimon is in the corner btw making sure y’all don’t do shit if ykyk
-once ur all better, he makes sure to take you out to dinner and get you an even better gift <3
Childe
-he forgets.
-not changing my mind.
-like I feel like ekaterina will have to remind him
“How is Y/N’a birthday so far?”
-insert jaw drop, shock face, eyes wide
-he will BURST out the bank and run straight to your shared home
-now you’ll be sad but like ur choice if u wanna cry or be mad
-if ur crying on the bed he’ll sit beside you and start kissing u all over ur face and saying he’s sorry and sorry all over again while whispering endearments
-if ur mad he’ll let himself be a punching bag
-he ENCOURAGES u to slap him but you only punch him playfully
-he’ll take you out and get you the most EXPENSIVE jewelry like literal fucking diamonds
-if u even want u can spend it with Zhongli too
-he just wants to make sure you have the best day just minus the fact he literally forgot
-he’ll take u in a trio to Snezhnaya or anywhere in the world just for you to forgive him
Cyno
-ladies and gents and my non-binary friends….
-he doesn’t forget!!!
-he acc has it all planned out- where you wanna celebrate is your decision
-if you wanna adventure around? Go for it! He’ll be with you and protect you from any monsters
-you wanna stay in? he’ll buy every movie you love and you’ll do a movie spree
-u wanna party ? Even on short notice he’ll Invite everyone hours before and youll all be having fun in the bazaar
-nonetheless he just wants you to have fun- it’s your day after all
-he has a lot of money, he just didn’t know what to get you, so if there’s any free time he’ll let you go around and buy whatever you want
-at the end of the day he’ll cuddle up to you and omg HE’LL LIKE whisper the happy birthday song to you as you drift off to sleep and idk why but that’s so cute to me
Scaramouche/Wanderer
-guys I’m just gonna say Scaramouche cuz for this he’s still working for Fatui but he is very ooc and soft (wanderer personality kinda)
-so sorry friends but the man literally doesn’t even know it’s your birthday month
-I think Childe will remind him by asking how your bday day is so far and Scaramouche will be like fuck
-Childe will def kaugh at him for forgetting but out of kindness he’ll tell Scaramouche what to do
-Scaramouche will race home and he’ll kiss u and shit hug u and apologize while saying he’ll do anything to make it up to you
-ANYTHING.
-you guys are in Snezhnaya and there’s not much to do but you decide to go ice skating !!
-you’ll have to teach him cuz he can’t skate for life
-he’ll encourage you to just take his mora or card or wtv and buy whatever you want cuz like
-he’s loaded
-you just decide to go buy some food aka hot chocolate to warm up. Maybe some snacks if you wanna watch movies that night
-he does buy you a cake though so when your home he can light it up

Tumblr media

sequel to in my dreams, you love me back
Tumblr media
Kamisato Ayato thought the first few months of you not living with him anymore was fine.
But why... Why was he missing your presence? Whenever he comes home, he has the urge to call out your name, only to remember that you were gone.
He knew he had no right to miss you. He got what he wanted, right? He should be grateful for it.
"My lord, could you repeat what you said again?" Thoma was stunned.
"...Bring these flowers to Y/N's home."
Thoma stared at the flowers in Ayato's hands, then cleared his throat, taking them from him. "O-Okay, my lord."
Tumblr media
"Flowers?" Your cheeks warmed, accepting the flowers Thoma gave to you. "From whom?"
He was noticeably nervous, "Uh... From Lord Ayato..."
You involuntarily dropped the flowers as soon as you heard his name. "Oh. Tell him that I do not accept these." Thoma gulped, nodding as he picked up the flowers.
"I will."
Sighing, you crouched down and helped him. "I'm sorry for suddenly dropping it, I—"
"It's okay, milady! I understand."
You gave him a small smile as you both stood up. "Thank you. Um... Have you eaten dinner? I still have some." You pointed to your back, where you cooked yourself some food for dinner, not knowing it was too much for one person.
Because you got used to cooking food for Ayato.
"Oh, I appreciate it, milady." And you invited him to your home for dinner, forgetting about Ayato for a while.
Tumblr media
Ayato knew you wouldn't accept the flowers he offered, especially when he wasn't even the one who gave them to you personally. He called himself a coward.
He sighed, sitting on his chair. If Ayato showed up instead of Thoma and offered you the flowers, would it still make any difference?
Well, take the risk or lose the chance. Ayato was determined to let you know he was sorry.
Thankfully, your house wasn't that far away from his.
Your mood immediately became sour when you saw your husband at your doorstep. "What do you want, Ayato?"
For the first time in years, he felt nervous. "You didn't accept the flowers."
"I see no reason why I should."
He agreed. "I... I apologize."
"Okay. I don't forgive you." Your words hurt more than Ayato had expected, though he knew you would never forgive him.
Ayato nodded and gave you the flowers, "At least accept these." About to shake your head, he whispered, "Please."
Once you hesitantly took it, he turned around and walked away. You feel your heart breaking as you watch his figure disappear further.
Tumblr media
The next day, you got ready to buy some groceries. You reminded yourself to stroll around Inazuma City for a while afterward, but you disregarded that thought once you saw Ayato again in front of your house. Now, you wanted nothing more than to sulk in your home. What does he want?
"I don't mean to disturb you, Y/N." You almost rolled your eyes because he did disturb you.
"What are you doing here?"
He sighed, "Please, let me make it up to you."
"And you think I'd still forgive you?" You scoffed, walking past him as Ayato closed the door for you. You get that you were being a little harsh, but you wouldn't forget what he did to you back then.
"No, I know you won't."
"So why are you still bothering?"
"Because you didn't deserve the way I treated you. So from now on, I'll treat and respect you as my wife, even if you ignore me, even if you don't talk to me. If I could, I'll do anything to take back the things I said and did to hurt you."
You felt your heart beating quickly. You won't forgive Ayato, but he could still make it up, though you didn't trust that he wouldn't hurt you again.
With a little hesitation, you nodded. "Fine."
A hopeful look flashed on his face, "All right. May I accompany you wherever you go?"
"Sure, do whatever you want."
Tumblr media
Days, weeks, and months passed by, and Ayato would accompany you every day. You wondered, how could he have so much time for a busy person?
It seemed that he kept up with what he said, though. Even when you ignored him like how he ignored you back then, he treated you like you were his wife, like... the love of his life.
He walks you back to your home every time you go out and sends you your favorite flowers and other things you showed interest in when you walked around Inazuma City. Funny how you were once putting an effort into your relationship, and now it was the other way around.
You were confused as well... about Ayato and your feelings for him. Were you actually thinking of forgiving him? You had to know if he was being genuine. How would you know he wouldn't hurt you again?
So when you were walking back home along with Ayato, you asked, "What do you want from me?" The question came out to be harsher than you intended.
He stopped in his tracks, and he couldn't answer. You turned to look at him with furrowed eyebrows and see him clenching his fist as the tears threatened to fall from his eyes...
"I..." He gulped, "I don't know what you're—"
"Why do you care?"
"I don't—"
"That's what I thought. I won't be living here anymore."
Ayato remembered the day you left his home. "No, I didn't mean— Please, don't leave..."
Your eyes widened, "Ayato, I won't leave." The man in front of you who is usually composed sobbed and got on his knees. The sight cracked your heart, and you crouched down to soothe his shoulder. "Hey..."
Because even after everything, you still loved him. You were just scared of getting hurt again.
Soon after Ayato calmed down, he couldn't look at you, so he stared at his hands instead as he started speaking. "I wanted to win you back. I want your love, even though I know I don't deserve that… So for as long as it takes, I'll wait. And if you don't have the heart to take me back, I understand and I'll leave you alone."
"You idiot... Don't you think you've waited for too long?" He looked at you with wide eyes, "It's okay, Ayato. I forgive you."
"But—"
"I still love you. I guess I just was just scared of getting hurt again."
He hugged you, finally saying, "I love you. Archons, I love you very much."
You buried your face into his neck, "You mean that?"
"Of course, yes." He pulled away to caress your cheeks with his hands. "Let's try again. Let's get married."
"Aren't we married, though?" You said, hiding the smile on your face.
Ayato shook his head, "I meant that we should get married as a real couple. I really want to, Y/N. Please?"
He got your answer when you kissed him on the lips.
Not only in your dreams, but in reality, he loves you back.

Tumblr media Tumblr media
Venti doesn't actually apologizes. He knows that it was his fault, yes he's not denying that but soon when the fight gets over and you've calmed down enough for him to approach, he'll sneak up behind you, as quite as a lion approaching it's prey and the phrase fits perfectly, you are, after all, his prey. Soon you find yourself at his mercy, laughing hysterically until tears brimmed your eyes on the same couch you were sitting on moments prior. Every fiber in your being was trying to get away from his tickling-torture but you were just no match.
"So, you forgive me yet, my muse? Or should I continue my persuasion a little more hm?
Tumblr media
Xiao doesn't know. Fights between you two often arise due to his cold personality, but it doesn't mean you both don't try. After a fight, his mind tells him to leave you alone, give you your space till you come back to him all good but something inside him won't let his steps take him away. His heart can't stand your fragile figure curled up in itself as you cry silently. So he does the best he can. Silently wrapping his arms around you and holding your head gently on his chest. You know he's not the best with words and you're simply grateful he didn't leave.
"I won't leave. I'm right here. Don't cry. "
Tumblr media
Childe knew he was in the wrong. He shouldn't have let his frustration of work out on you. He'd leave the room, leaving you with your thoughts all alone, making you think that he just.. left you. But soon his figure would re-enter the room, this time his face holding guilt and his hand carrying your favorite food. His approach towards you is silent, not quite able to meet your eyes as his own get a little hazy.
"I-I know it was my fault. I am really sorry. Forgive me please....?"
Tumblr media
We all know how Ayato's personality work. Sharp minded and an individual who never wavers. The great nobleman of Inazuma. He wanted to believe that nothing can hurt him, that a single person's presence won't affect his life. But there he stood in front of your doorstep in this pouring rain, drenched, and waiting for you to accept his apology and forgive him. He knew he was at fault and he wanted to own up to it. He didn't want to loose you in hands of a fight. Ten minutes later your figure came in view, towel in hand as you quietly let him in and started drying him. Everything around you two spoke just one word, silence.
"P-Please.... Forgive me (Y/n). I don't want to loose you. I-I won't argue with you anymore. I promise. "

Thoma x Ayato (Genshin)
(Hurt/Comfort)
A little blurb from a little over a year ago
"My love... What's wrong?" He gazed at his dearest. Thoma was crying. And there wasn't anything Ayato could do about it.
He couldn't speak. Words wouldn't come out. Ask he could do was sit there and cry in his love's arms.
And he understood. Ayato didn't need to know what it was about. Just that Thoma needed him. Needed to let out his muffled tears and screams.
Through sweet nothings, hugs, and comfort, Ayato managed to keep Thoma from escalating. This wasn't the first time, and it wouldn't be the last. It was the least he could do, after all, their positions have been switched many times.
Ayato could only imagine what had happened, but talking wouldn't help right now. Many things have happened since they became a couple. Few knew, and fewer supported them. Whether it be the class difference, or homophobia, kind people were hard to come by. Ayaka was the only one who was truly there for them, but she couldn't empathize.
Thoma started to calm down. "I'm sorry for my outburst, my lord"
"Hush, you don't need to call me that here" Ayato said, "now what happened, love?"
Tbc..? (Probably not unless anyone requests it lol)

Tumblr media
CH NOTES: arranged marriage, emotional cheating, neglect, unhealthy relationship, sad ending, hurt no comfort, heavy angst, slight ooc

SUMMARY: Ayato x Fiance! Reader but you’re a hopeless romantic to your fiance who is in love with another.

Tumblr media
I. Your engagement with Kamisato Ayato happened in a blur. Who knew a swish of a pen would bind you to an eternal contract with the Yashiro Commissioner? You were devastated; you didn’t want to get engaged yet– after all, you wanted to fall in love freely, not live a domestic life as the significant other of Kamisato Ayato. You yearn for a light novel-like romance, believing that it is the ideal way to love. But despite your protests, you were engaged to the man.
You promised yourself not to fall in love with Kamisato Ayato.
But it all changed during your first marriage meeting with the man. He was polite, sweet even, flashing a grin every time you met his lilac eyes. You have always admired his dedication to the people of Inazuma– considering it a noble trait. You also found out he enjoys reading, though your taste in genres is different it’s still something!
His voice captivated you like a siren hypnotizing its prey with its sweet voice, hoping to drag you down the sea with them. You let yourself drown in the sea of his presence, despite knowing you’d suffocate to death.
You started to look forward to your ‘dates’ with your fiance, making sure you look your absolute best in every meeting. Your heart skipped a beat, and butterflies fluttered in your stomach every time he flashed his signature smile. Your cheeks heated up, making them shade a light red every time he complimented you.
You knew this feeling all too well– after all, you’ve read about it multiple times. ‘This is love,’ you thought, ‘I’m in love.’ At this point, you’re convinced that someone cast a spell on you— a spell that made you fall in love with Kamisato Ayato.
You gave him your heart, as you waited patiently for Ayato to give his to you.
You were happy– you’re engaged to a fine man, after all! You look at him like he is perfect for you like he is the missing piece to your heart like he would give you the love you yearn for all these years. Though they didn’t admit it, some of your friends are envious of you— you and Kamisato Ayato are perfect for each other!
You couldn’t believe that this wasn't a dream.
Every day you daydreamed of domestic life with Ayato, waking up next to him, eating breakfast together, walking around Inazuma city hand in hand, dancing under the stars, anything that lovers do. Every night you slept with a smile, hoping to see your dear fiance the following day— unaware that he feels the exact opposite.
Yet love is an illusion, nothing but a wolf in disguise. It doesn’t matter how he acts on the outside, or who he is on the inside. You fell in love with an illusion– the disguise. So the day that ever comes when he unveiled himself from his disguise, would be the day the illusion shatters.
And that day came on your 10th meeting with Kamisato Ayato.
Your parents left you alone with him, hoping for your relationship to develop even further. Once you two were left alone, he confessed, unveiling his true self– his true feelings.
He confessed that he loved another and that he could never love you. He swore that he would never make her his mistress, as he claimed that he didn’t want to put her in such a position. Upon hearing his confession, your world came crashing down. He shut you and your newfound feelings down immediately, despite not yet professing it.
The more he talked, the more you lost touch with reality. His sweet voice which would always leave you starstruck is now jarring to the ears. His gaze towards you is now cold— chilling on the skin. After his confession, he observed you one last time and then left you alone with only your thoughts to accompany you.
You continued your day in a blur. The information you have just been told is not yet sinking in. Upon reaching your quarters, you broke down as his words slowly started to sink in. ‘How about me?’ you sobbed as you recalled your meeting with Kamisato Ayato.
Despite being naive to love, you aren’t stupid. Ayato knew about your budding feelings. He knew he rejected you. he didn't want to deal with your heart so he tore it to pieces— as quickly as you gave your heart to him.
From that day onwards, Kamisato Ayato changed despite never ‘changing’. All that changed was the illusion shattering.
As the illusion shatters, you notice his pleasantries and smiles were nothing genuine. His signature smile was nothing but a business smile that contains no emotions. His tender expression betrays the coldness in his eyes.
You sobbed. You were too busy living in fantasy to take notice of such obvious red flags.
Under his mercy, he delayed the date of the wedding, claiming that it was too soon for you. You nearly broke down again upon hearing his excuse. He didn’t delay the wedding for you, it was for himself. He didn't want to enter an eternal contract despite knowing it was for his clan— just because it wasn’t with her.
Nevertheless, the two of you put on a play of an engaged couple who loved each other dearly. A play that cast the two most prominent figures of Inazuma– the Yashiro Commissioner and the beloved child of the [Surname] clan. He accompanied you to political parties and social gatherings. He walked with you, arms linked, around the city of Inazuma. He invited you to his estate; he bought you gifts. He showed affection every time you both were out it in public.
It was all an act– a well-scripted play that fooled the people of Inazuma, that fooled you.
'They can’t know,’ He said referring to the act, eyes glaring down at you, ‘They must never know.’
You who are naive and helpless when it comes to love. You can’t help it, someone cast a spell on you, after all. A spell created by hell itself, love. So you prayed, prayed that one day someone would cast the same spell on Kamisato Ayato. A spell that would make him fall in love with you.
II. That was until, you saw her– Kaedahara Yuki, older sister of Kaedahara Kazuha– conversing with your dear fiance. You have heard of Kaedahara Yuki, a  childhood friend of Kamisato Ayato and a genius. She received a pyro vision at the age of 14– compared to your visionless self.
She was gentle, yet strict; kind, yet cruel. Rumor has it that the Kaedahara clan would become wealthy and honorable like how it was before the annihilation of the Raiden Gokaden under her leadership.
But to her, family is more important than any wealth or honor. After the arrest warrant of Kaedahara Kazuha issued by the Tenryou Commission, Kaedahara Yuki ran away from Inazuma with her brother– never to return again. That was until today.
Unknowingly to you, Kamisato Ayato invited the Kaedahara siblings to the irodori festival. Truthfully, you don’t exactly mind the sudden reappearance of the Kaedahara siblings. After all, they’re just reconnecting childhood friends– right? Wrong.
For the first time in your life, jealousy tainted your heart the moment you saw them together. You watch silently as Kaedahara Yuki and your fiance converse with each other. You watch as you notice the sudden gleam in Ayato’s complexion and how his grin widens as the conversation goes on. You watch the fairytale-like reunion between the two.
Someone cast a spell on Kamisato Ayato. A spell which is known by love. Yet it was not you Ayato was in love with, it was her. Heartbroken, you ran away from the scene– not bothering to introduce yourself to her.
Jealousy is a parasite to the heart. It would eat you up till you are left nothing but a human who is filled with negative emotions. It dulls your moral compass in the name of love. Jealousy is terrifyingly easy to catch, just like falling in love.
You are well aware of this, after all, it is the main trait of the notorious villainess in your favorite light novels.
Tears start to well up in the corner of your eyes as you realize your role in this elaborate play. The scriptwriter of the play didn’t show you even an ounce of sympathy. You are the 2nd love interest– the obstacle in the main love interest's love life.

"Hah. That was quite the rookie mistake you made there, [Y/N]." Your boyfriend remarked as he killed one of your cards, making you lean back in frustration. "Archons, couldn't you have spared me for once! I'm starting to think you know all my strategies by heart." "Perhaps I do." The man in front of you chuckled, making you frown. "Welp, time to make a new deck." You sighed. "I've heard that Archon cards and a Xiao card might come out soon. You can bet I'll make an amazing deck with those cards." "I've heard that a Yae Miko card is here too. That could be interesting too, you could use that." "Hmph, No thank you. I have a personal grudge against that lady." He merely chuckled again as he made his next move, winning the TCG match.
Ah yes, your boyfriend. None other than the Yashiro Commissioner, Kamisato Ayato. You two had met, when you had shown up to prevent an assasination attempt, not knowing that the target was Ayato himself. You got the opportunity to fight against him, after which you apologised for just showing up since you had received some inside intel about the attempt. After that, for some reason, you two just kept bumping into each other, and soon you both grew a liking to each other. Two years later, you were already dating.
It was beautiful. Despite the busy life of the head of the Yashiro Commission, Ayato never treated you as a burden on his busy schedule. In fact, he very clearly separated out time from his schedule on a daily basis for his lovely significant other, aka you. You both always treasured dearly the time you two spent together.
As you both were about to start another match, one of his servants stepped in politely. "Lord Kamisato, I apologise for the intrusion, but we have a guest waiting for you inside. Lady Yae has come all the way down the Narukami Shrine, and she wishes to talk to you." "Can't it wait?" Ayato frowned. "I'm afraid not, sir. She has already come from a while, and seems to be getting impatient." Ayato sighed in resignation. "Alright. Bring her in." Moments later, that goddamn kitsune walked in, arms crossed, with a plotting, mischievous smile on her face.
"My my, Kamisato, you sure know how to make a lady wait. Oh, and hello, dear [Y/N]. Pardon the intrusion, but I'd like to speak to Ayato here." "Go on, I'm not stopping you, am I?" You replied back, irked. "Ah, so could you leave? You know, I'd like to speak to him alone."
Gods, this crafty witch sure knew how to make you mad. First she barges in on your alone time with your boyfriend, then demands to speak with your boyfriend alone, kicking you out when she's the outsider here? You restrained the urge to punch her pretty face, because it would bring a bad name to Ayato, instead bitterly walking past her out of the room, giving her an exclusive death stare. She had the nerve to smirk back.
Well, she wanted to talk to Ayato alone, but she never did forbid me from eavesdropping, did she? So you closed the door behind you, leaving only a sliver open, through which you could peek in. And when she spoke what she wanted to, your blood boiled.
"Say, Kamisato, I've been thinking. We've known each other almost our entire lives. What if we were to get in an official relationship? Despite its good stature, you cannot deny that the Yashiro Commission is still in a sticky situation, also severly understaffed. The constant assassination attempts mustn't be making it any easier. If we were to date, it would affiliate the shrine with the Commission. With the backing of the Grand Narukami Shrine, no one would dare to touch the Yashiro Commission. Quite advantageous for both of us, don't you think?"
How dare she? How dare she? Propose this by kicking YOU, his s/o out, in OUR alone time? The sheer nerve and audacity! But then a thought entered your mind. What if she was right?
Your clan wasn't that well-known. You knew that many eyebrows had been raised when you two came out with your relationship. It would certainly be better for Ayato to be with Yae instead, because everyone knew the power her position, and very name itself held. With her in the picture, definitely no one would dare to even lay a finger on the Yashiro Commission. And Ayato's next words shocked you.
"What's in it for you, I wonder." He mused.
Your breath hitched. The fact that Ayato seemed to be actually considering this... You couldn't hear any more. You quickly left, choosing to go down to the nearby beach alone to sort out your thoughts. You didn't bother telling anyone. They do say that curiosity kills the cat.
Had everyone else in the Commission been thinking the same thing? Had they been secretly gossipping about you behind your back? You should talk to Ayato about this tomorrow. And then you would get yourself out of the picture, for Ayato's sake. You'd have to leave, to make way for that kitsune, for Ayato. You just....
As you walked along the beach, wrapped in your thoughts, evening changed into night. You seemed to have walked a long way. Tired, you plopped down onto a big rock, staring at the stars. The stars that people said decided someone's fate..
You would be lying if you said you weren't jealous of Yae Miko. She was literally perfect in every way. Flawless appearance, incredible power, appealing personality, everything someone could ever want in a lady. What were you even compared to her?
"Dear, dear me, Who is this 'her' you speak of?" A voice spoke behind you, scaring the living daylights out of you. Or living nightlights, whatever.
"Ayato?? What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be talking to- to her..?" You asked, your voice breaking a tiny bit in the end. Of course, Ayato noticed. "That was hours ago, love?" He said simply. "I've been searching for you since. You know, since you just disappeared without any note whatsoever. You had me worried. Now, you seem to have a lot on your mind. Who is this her you speak of?" When you didn't respond, he took a guess. "Surely you're not referring to Miko, are you?" You responded in a small voice. "I.. I heard." You mumbled.
He immediately understood. "Ah, I see. My my, someone's gotten jealous." He chuckled. "No, it isn't that." You said hurriedly. "It's that... Maybe she is right. It would be better for everyone if you two were together, instead of us."
That stopped him short. "...You say you hear, but you clearly didn't hear everything. Or you would have heard that I immediately rejected her proposal. I don't want to be with someone I don't love, [Y/N]. So drive your worries away, darling. Because you?" He put a hand on his heart, showing a rare sincerity. "You're my first love, dear, and I promise you'll be my last."

I feel at home, just not with you- Part 2
Tumblr media
Summary: After noticing Kazuha becoming rather distant and unusually rarely poetic than he usually is while staying in Inazuma, you notice how happy he is in the crux and when you had brought it up with your dear friends Kujou Sara and Yae Miko, they had told you the painful truth; He was tired of you and Inazuma. When Kazuha read the letter…he had many mixed emotions: Hurt, regret, disappointment, but the worst was that he was slightly happy.
He never wanted you to find out like this, but at the same time he deserved nothing but a letter for continuing to play with your feelings all while being in love with Lumine.
He’s an honest man- he always has been. It’s just, you’ve always been by his side as he was for you, but he couldn’t thank you enough. Part of him thought telling you about Lumine would break his heart more than it would yours.
So, when he read your letter, he allowed a few tears to shed. He knew he deserved this- and he hated it. He wished he was honest with you- that he fell out of love months ago. He was ashamed in himself for even asking you to leave with him, knowing he wasn’t in love with you anymore.
He knew he was a horrible person- a horrendous, disgusting person. But that same night, he couldn’t help but go straight to Lumine like he always does and tell her everything. Upon hearing this letter, she simply put a hand on his shoulder and spoke.
Honestly, you should’ve thanked the Archons you hadn’t heard they spoke, because the next confessions would’ve broke your heart more than how broken you were writing that letter.
~~~
You couldn’t find yourself to go back home after the whole situation of watching the Crux float away. All over your home was pictures of you and Kazuha- pictures from months back when you were happy.
When he was actually still in love with you- well you think.
If he was faking it for this long, what if he was faking it then? The thought of that made you want to puke, and Thoma noticed it immediately. “I can take you hom-”
“No.” You said without even thinking. “I can’t go back Thoma. Our pictures…the memories…they’re all there.”
He sighed, but looked at you with a gentle and comforting smile. “Come with me.” He put his arm around you to make sure you wouldn’t stumble as your sight was blurred with your tears.
He never told you where he was taking you, but after many minutes of walking- half an hour at the most- you had slightly calmed down and asked him.
“The Kamisato Estate.”
You crying and sad mood had quickly switched to shock. You sputtered and jumped away from him. “Thoma, I can’t go looking like this! Archons, the Kamisato estate? I’m hardly even welcomed there! I especially won’t be in SWEAPANTS AND A TANK TOP.”
Thoma simply laughed. “Y/N, I guarantee you they won’t care. Please, just let me take you. You can’t go home and you need somewhere to stay. I think you deserve it.”
“But-”
“No buts.” He smiled. “And you know you can’t win a argument against me.”
You stood there, absolutely defeated and shoulders slumped. He was right, it was hard to fight against him when it came to proving points or any type of argument. It was literally his job to win them, too.
“If it makes you feel better- I can sneak you in if you care that much about how you look.”
“I owe you, Thoma.”
“You owe me nothing…well actually some dango would be nice.”
~~~
Once walking over the HUNDRED FLIGHTS OF STAIRS (it was a small amount you just wanted to make a big deal out of it) You had finally made it to the estate. Thoma had hid you from windows as you stood to his side and you both speed-walked to the actual house.
You tried your best to ignore the weird looks from other workers and guards.
Once in, just down a hall was a room that Thoma led you to. It wasn’t an empty room and you actually assumed it might’ve been his room. There was a gigantic dog plushie and pictures of Thoma, Yoimiya and Ayaka around the walls with a few of his other friends.
He blankets were also red and orange so you knew it was his. The dog plushie immediately gave it away too.
Right when he closed the door, not even 10 seconds after was a knock and you swore you passed out when you heard that deep…but marvelous voice.
“Thoma? It’s Ayato. The workers were concerned for you when you came, and also mentioned a lady with you…If it’s like that, I suggest maybe putting a sock on the door-”
“ARCHONS NO!” You yelled out after hearing that suggestion and Thoma went red.
He chuckled. “Erm…My lord, It’s a friend. I will come out and speak to you in a few seconds.” He turned to look at you. “Treat this room as if it’s yours.” Before you could argue, he left.
“Friend or..?”
“Friend.” He corrected, chuckling. “A lot has happened today, and they just need a place to stay. I thought it would be fine if they roomed with me for just a while.”
“Well Thoma, you could’ve asked me to just set a room for them.” Ayato gave a gentle smile.
Though, Thoma only frowned and he looked at the door to his room. “I think they need a friend at the moment.”
Ayato nodded, signaling he understood. “If I may…what happened, and who?”
“Y/N L/N.” He sighed out.
Ayato’s eyes widened slightly. He’s heard much about you, but unfortunately never had the chance to meet you. You were apparently a ‘blessing sent from heaven’ according to townsfolk- how you always tried to make everyone smile. He knew though something had happened in recent events as he does overhear Yoimiya talking to Ayaka due to her loud and booming voice.
He knows he’s friends with Kazuha but he was disappointed when he overheard everything that happened. “Ah yes, I’ve overhead. I’ll leave you be. Please, make her feel welcomed and loved.”
“I always will.” Thoma smiled and bowed as his lord walked away. His formal demeanor quickly washed away when he opened his room door to find that you did indeed treat the room like yours as you were on his bed sobbing, hugging the dog plushie.
He sighed, knowing this would be a long day.
That same night you tried to get out of the bed but Thoma had already prepared his own bed on the couch in his room, and it looked very comfy. He insisted you needed the bed more than him and if anything he did always love the couch more than the bed.
Sometimes in the middle of the night, he’d awake to hear you crying. Whenever you slept, all you could think of was Kazuha- the good things and the bad things.
The way he loved you, comforted you, made you feel, but then the way he just…stopped loving you and left you for her…
“Is it bad that I keep telling myself I can’t forgive him, but i know that if he comes back…I’ll be running into his arms?”
“Right now, not at all.”
“How do you think he reacted when he read my letter?” You sniffed, and turned your body to Thoma. He was laying beside you- he came to lay when he first heard you crying and did this in efforts of comforting you.
The lamp was on and your tears were clear as day.
“Do you want me to be honest?” He asked.
“I wanna say no,”
“But?”
“I need to hear it.”
“If he really was iin love with you, and your suspicions were a complete lie, then why is it me beside you and not him?”
“In what way do you mean that?” You asked. You obviously knew he was saying that because it was the truth- why wasn’t Kazuha here?
But it also meant something else.
Thoma gave you a gentle smile and brushed a piece of hair behind your ear. “Take it in any way you want. I’m fine with whatever.”
“Even after I said I’d run back into his arms?”
“It hasn’t even been 24 hours, Y/N. It’s gonna take a long time to get over him.”
He paused.
“And i’m willing to wait a long time.”
Maybe it really was better that it was him instead of Kazuha beside you.

No Turning Back
Working for the Kamisato Clan was no easy task, nor was living so far away from home. Thankfully, you're surrounded by people who care about and support you much to your dismay at times. Still, they'll always remind you that no matter what you're going through you will never have to face it alone.

These first couple chapters are mostly just setting up for everything I have planned moving forward, there will be some slight spoilers for anyone who isn't caught up but they will be tagged accordingly. This fic is very self indulgent and somewhat of a vent piece but nothing extreme will be touched on here. Gender Neutral pronouns used for reader so that anyone can enjoy.

Chapter 1: The Gardener
Kamisato Ayato, head of the Kamisato clan and current leader of the Yashiro commission, was Inazuma's most handsome smooth talker. A distant man with a multitude of servants who would happily oblige his every command. He was a strong leader, merciful and kind. Sly as a fox and quick witted, the perfect commander. Though he would never dream of ordering his people to do anything he didn't seem absolutely necessary, they would happily follow him to the ends of the Earth and back. You, of course, were no different from the rest in that regard. You followed his every order without hesitation, assisting in your duties no matter what they entailed. Really though, that rarely ever involved much more than tending to the garden at the estate.
It was a simple job, good pay and a place that provided a roof over your head. This was more than enough to keep your family happy knowing that their eldest child was safe and sound. Even if it meant you were separated by a vast ocean. As travelling merchants they could do little to support you, and knowing you were in good hands was the best they could ever hope for. What you hadn't expected upon taking the job, however, was the liking that the commissioner had taken to you almost immediately.
Perhaps it was your gentle smile, or maybe it was something about the way your delicate hands moved against the flowers with such grace and ease that had drawn him in. But your charm, your wit, and your sarcastic nature always kept him coming back for more. Even if his visits with you were limited to short chats in the garden it was easy for any outsider to tell that he didn't treat you the way he treated the other servants, much to their dismay.
This was something Thoma and Ayaka would tease you endlessly about. You'd known the pair for some time now, Thoma being the one who had initially assisted you in securing the job here. Though Lady Akaya was much more subtle with her words when teasing, well aware of her duties to uphold her reputation. It was as you pondered this thought that you felt a cool chill run up your spine. Without looking up you knew immediately who it was.
"Good afternoon [Name]" her timid voice greeted you.
"Lady Ayaka," you smiled, "out for a stroll?"
She smiled, the corners of her lips twitching up in delight as she stood a polite distance away. "I wanted to come say hello to you. You've been working all morning, I thought perhaps you could use a break." It was not often that she had time available to come and see you, so she cherished every moment that she could spare to spend with you in the garden. Usually it was during the later hours when most of the staff had turned in for the night but today she had finished her training early.
"Oh, I'm not sure if I should, my lady. I have quite a bit more work to do before the sun sets..." You replied, though your hands slowed their careful work. Perhaps it was rude to decline such an offer, you wondered as your hands stilled. Still, you could feel the eyes of passers by digging into your back as she stopped to speak to you. This, you recalled, was the reason you kept your distance these days… or at least that’s what you told yourself. The others would often accuse you of getting special treatment from your bosses. No one likes a teacher’s pet.
"Please, I insist." She replied with a wave of her hand. "I'm sure the flowers can wait. After all, we have time before the sun sets tonight. Why don't you come join me for tea?"
You nodded then, understanding that there was no use in attempting to shake her off today. Either you would remain stubborn enough for her to back down with a deflated look that made your stomach churn, or you would give in and suffer through the sideways glances and hushed whispers from the other servants and guests at the estate. There was no winning this battle, and there was no point either. "With pleasure, my lady." Though the two of you were close, it was in your best interest to keep your friendship on the down low lest the other servants resent you for it.
After gathering up your equipment and setting it aside you followed her inside to a room away from all the prying eyes. "How have you been today, my lady?" You inquired as she motioned for you to have a seat with her.
Ayaka sighed softly, knowing that no matter how many times she told you that it was fine to call her by name you would keep up this polite façade. Especially when you weren't completely in private. The memory of speaking to you through a screen in the early days of your friendship was fresh in her mind and these days it was almost as though it had never left. The thought made her chest ache in a way she wasn't fond of. She refused to dwell on it for long. "Good," the pale girl replied with a half-hearted smile. Had you met in any other manner, perhaps it wouldn't be this difficult for you.
"I was hoping you might join us for dinner tonight." Her words were chosen carefully, well aware that you would hesitate to accept her offer. The walls that you were slowly building around yourself not only made her uneasy, but concerned as well. When you opened your mouth to speak she cut you off before you could decline, speaking in that same hopeful tone only with a hint of more urgency this time. "Thoma will be joining as well, and I'm sure my brother would be happy to see you."
She watched your expression as you pondered the idea. Of course it was fine, but your status worried you as well... you didn't want to inadvertently taint the Kamisato reputation with your presence. But you could see the sparkle in her eyes when she invited you, and with another bow of your head you responded. "I'd be honoured."
After all, it would be rude to decline such an offer from your boss, would it not? You wondered if the others would care at all, or if they would simply see it as yet another way you were trying to weasel yourself into a position of unearned power over them. This, of course, was not your intention. It was not often that you would indulge in such things as you'd spent much of your life barely scraping by. It was not an easy task by any means, but it was what you were used to. In a way it was much more comfortable than your cosy little room here at the estate with sheets fresh and pillows fluffed
"It will be nice to be able to catch up. After all, I have missed your company these days." Ayaka replied tentatively. She had picked up early on on how you'd withdrawn recently, and she feared that your friendship was slipping away like sand through her fingers. "It's been a while."
You sighed then, feeling your heart flip in your chest. You bowed your head a moment as you understood the motive behind her invitation. "I'm sorry... I'm just...." You couldn't find the words. When the silence had stretched on long enough that it was clear you had no intention of ending that sentence she finished the thought for you, as if it were clear to everyone but you.
"Homesick?"
A nod from you was the only confirmation you could muster.  "You know... You can take time off to go see your family, I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem with Ayato-"
"I can't." You admitted, expanding on that before she could protest. "I wouldn't know what to say." Perhaps you weren't ready, or maybe you couldn't bear the thought of your parents' reaction to the person you had become in your absence. Your cheeks burned when you realised you had cut her off, quickly stuttering out a soft apology. "I'm sorry, I don't mean to bother you with my own petty drama."
"But we're friends, [Name]. I can tell you anything and I would hope that you might trust me enough to do the same for me." Her eyebrows knit together subtly as her concern grew. This couldn't have been easy for you. Though your situation was quite different, she'd seen the way that Thoma would get when he was feeling a similar sort of longing for your shared hometown. "They would understand." She assured you as she reached forward, her dainty hands cupping yours gently. "Mondstat is the land of freedom after all... Why shouldn't they be proud of you for expressing the will of your Archon?"
You could feel the tears welling up in your eyes as she spoke. "Could we maybe talk about something else... for now?"
With a sad smile, she nodded. "Of course."
The two of you continued on shortly after that, changing the subject with ease and slipping into something much more comfortable. The two of you spoke more about what you'd been up to lately, and caught up briefly while you wrapped up your break. She had been busy with her seemingly never ending training, you with your detailed work in the gardens.
Ayaka always said the roses always looked better after you worked, as if your loving hands coaxed them out of their buds and into the brilliant bursts of colour they were now. You had a way with them, which made it much easier for the siblings to find excuses to keep you here at the estate. No one else could do the work you do, Ayato would say if anyone dared question your living situation, Thoma was always quick to back him up, you were a valuable staff member after all. For who would look after the grounds if it weren't for you? Certainly not Thoma with his schedule, Ayaka and Ayato certainly couldn't. You are irreplaceable aside from your skill, but the way you worked with the garden made it easier to squash any debates about your standing.
Once your work was finished for the day you retired to your living quarters in order to ready yourself for dinner tonight. Even after taking your time to chat with Ayaka you had managed to finish your work early, earning you just enough time to lay in your bed and contemplate your earlier discussion. Why, you wondered, did you have to be so painfully lucky here. Why did she have to notice? But of course, the Kamisatos were nothing if not kind and compassionate. It was easier here, you thought to yourself with a huff. There was no need to tiptoe around the matter, here you didn't have to put on a show for anyone. Save for the occasional side eye from the guards, you were free to be utterly and completely yourself.
Perhaps this was why the thought of going back to Mondstat was so troublesome. After all this time, you were still afraid and yet you couldn't completely grasp /why/. Your family was happy for you, supportive of the life that you had made for yourself here and the name you carried on.  Your gaze fluttered over to the stack of unopened letters on your bedside table as you were lost in thought. The envelopes all addressed to a person you no longer recognized as yourself. It made your chest tighten the more you thought about it and you brushed the notion away with a turn of your body once more. You'd write them tomorrow, you convinced yourself despite the fact that you'd said it many times before.
Thankfully, you didn't have much time to be alone with your thoughts tonight. You wondered for a moment if your friend knew and if that happened to be a part of the reason why she had invited you out tonight. It didn't take much wondering until you realised that that was precisely why Ayaka had chosen today to invite you. It seemed that perhaps her good looks were not the only thing she had in common with her brother, but of course you knew that already. You cursed yourself internally as you stripped off your uniform so that you might be able to rid yourself of the day's troubles.
It was at that moment that you heard the door of your room slide open.
Your head whipped around in an instant, arms flying up in an effort to cover yourself with a gasp. Before it slammed shut again you caught a glimpse of The Chief Retainer of the Kamisato Clan's face, silently cursing himself for having been so clumsy.
"I-I I'm sorry!" He stammered out from beyond the thin partition. Though you could only just barely see his silhouette but you could tell that he had his head in his hands.
"Don't you ever knock?!" You practically squeaked back at him, still frozen in your awkward position from earlier. Too stunned to move, too embarrassed to break the silence that grew between the two of you, you stood there like a statue. Silently, you prayed to Celestia that he would just go away and leave you to wallow in self pity.
The Archons, however, were not so kind. Either your prayers were heard and quickly cast aside or you simply hadn't prayed hard enough because the blonde broke the silence shortly afterwards.
"I'm sorry, I tried calling out to you a few times but you didn't answer and I was worried something might be wrong, I... I can come back later if that's alright with you..." His voice slowly fell away, trailing off into the distance despite him not moving a muscle as he waited for you to respond.
Damn it. Now it was your turn to curse yourself. Of course, you must have been too lost in thought to notice when he'd called out to you. Of course that was not something uncharacteristic of you in times like these. It was almost scary how well you were able to tune the world out as you fell deeper and deeper into the thoughts that threatened to consume you at times. "I'm sorry, I must have been distracted... Just... Just let me get dressed." Those words must have left your mouth without your permission as you cringed internally at them. Why did you have to say that? You should have lied, told him you were sick and that you couldn't come to dinner tonight.
Ayaka would understand. You didn't want to face him now, especially not knowing how much of you he had actually seen in the brief moment the door had been open. Unfortunately you couldn't take it back now, lest you risk worrying him further. Hesitating a moment as you considered your options, you reluctantly changed into your best clothes for dinner tonight, taking a moment to fix up your hair in the process.
“You can come in now.” You said as you poked your head out through the opening, putting on a polite little smile as you opened the sliding door to your living quarters.
Thoma greeted you with a bright smile, cheeks still flushed a brilliant pink from earlier. “Sorry about-” You stopped him, gently placing a finger to his lips in order to shut him up. “Please, I don’t know what you’re talking about.” A bold faced lie, but he accepted it without complaint. Only a soft sound of agreement and a slight nod before you took your hand away. An awkward silence fell once more between the two of you as you waited for what he had to say to you. After all, it isn’t everyday that Ritou’s fixer comes knocking at your door.
“I didn’t see anything-”
“Thoma.”
“Sorry…”
He looked away from you again and if you didn’t know any better you could swear he was lying to make you feel better. You didn’t want to think about that either, the thought made you nauseous and stirred up butterflies you’d rather not address. “Did you need something?”
“ Oh! ” It was like he’d snapped out of a trance, suddenly returning to his usual bubbly self. “I have to run into town and pick up some things for Lord Kamisato and I was wondering if you might like to accompany me for the walk.” The blond smiled, that same hopeful look in his eyes that Ayaka had earlier. With a sigh, you wondered if perhaps she had put him up to this. The thought caused you to deflate a bit, that heavy feeling in your chest growing for a reason you couldn’t put your finger on. “It’s okay if you’d rather be alone for now, I just thought it might be fun to have some company for once.” That was true, however it had been some time since you had left the estate and he was beginning to think that some time outside might be good for you.
“Ah- I…” You searched for some sort of excuse but your mind drew a blank. “I’d be happy to.”

I can't wait to write more for this one, I really hope you guys enjoy <3 If it's not super obvious, the reader is implied to be trans but I wanted everyone to be able to read regardless of gender identity so I tried to keep it a little more vague here. Depending on how it's received I may make it more obvious going forward.
