…When Gojo was 5 years old…
“Mama, Gojo wan pay with Gedo” A kid Gojo who had large blue round eyes, red apple chubby cheeks, and white fluffy hair begged his mom.
“Then, eat all the carrots and we can go” His mom told him.
“Bud I don wann” A kid Gojo objected.
“You don’t want? Hmm, then maybe you should be at home for a week?” His mama giggled secretly.
“nahhh nooon” Gojo was scared that he couldn't play with his friend. He ate all the carrots until his cheeks swelled with vegetables.
When he finished with his food, his mom took him to the playground. He met his best friend who had short black hair with similar pink chubby cheeks. He ran to play with Geto.
“Gedo, take dis yahhhhhhhhhh” Gojo slowly punched Geto's cheek.
“Geto won’t gip dup, Godooooooo arghhhhhhh” Geto used his plump hand to block Gojo’s fake punch.
They both played until the evening. Geto got picked up by his mom while Gojo was waving to his friend. Gojo flopped down on the ground and played with sand to wait for his mama. He was playing until he heard a girl cry. He used his chubby hands to push him to stand up and jogged to find a girl behind the tree.
“Ha hey, why are yu cryning?” Gojo asked a girl with black shoulder-length hair.
“My ice ceam fell donw on the floo” Utahime explained.
Gojo looked down to the ground. He quickly ran to the closest ice cream shop and asked them to give him a new one. He told them his mom would come and pay later because he didn’t have money. Nevertheless, they gave ice cream to him for free.
Gojo believed people were kind to him because he was cute. Back then, he just didn’t know how powerful his clan was. No one wouldn’t know who this boy was.
Gojo came back with ice cream in his hand and gave it to Utahime. That was when they confronted each other for the first time and the love story between them happened.
Since then, Gojo Satoru’s priority mission was to make her happy. He was secretly in love with her. She was the most beautiful person he had ever met. His love for Iori Utahime grew more and more every day. Though he understood it was his one-sided love.

…When Gojo was in high school…
That was when his love began stronger. It was in spring on the high school orientation day. He walked into school lazily with Geto, his best friend.
Utahime was under the big pink sakura tree. The breeze blew lightly, her raven hair swayed along with the wind. She slowly tucked her hair behind her ear using her slender fingers.
He believed his breath was taken for a moment while looking at her. It was like everything around him stopped but her. She was the only thing that was still moving in his ocean eyes.
He smiled shyly before walking to talk to her. “Hey!! Do you kno-”
“No” Utahime told him.
“What! I-I haven't asked you yet. Aren’t you happy we’re in the same school AGAIN?” Gojo pouted.
“What a nightmare. Hey Shoko!” Utahime waved to her female friend and began to walk to Shoko.
“No saying ‘Hi’ for me too?” Geto asked.
“I hate both of you, so NO” Utahime huffed.
“But I don’t hate you,” Gojo said after stopping her and lowering himself to meet her chocolate brown eyes.
Utahime tried to composure herself, but her cheeks didn’t cooperate with her. “U-um, G-Go away”
Gojo chuckled and shook his head lightly. He watched as his friends wandered ahead of him. He arched his elbow to hold his bag across his shoulder. Then, he ran to walk next to Utahime and got in the building together.
During his high school years, he would say it was the most enjoyable time in his life. He was the roommate of Geto when Utahime lived with Shoko. Occasionally, he made an excuse to go see Utahime at her place.
“Oiii, my room runs out of face wash. I need to use yours” Gojo yelled when he entered their place.
“Gojo!!! Not my own bathroom!!!! A-And I don’t have men's face wash!!!” Utahime shouted to him but it was too late.
Utahime sat on the sofa. “Why does he need to use my bathroom where there are 2 bathrooms and 2 bedrooms here?”
“I think he likes you, Hime” Shoko said.
“If he likes me, he should have told me. Just saw him go on a date with our classmate yesterday” Utahime said.
“And I think you like him a lot too” Shoko told Utahime.
“NO! I don't. W-why would I like someone who doesn’t like me?!” Utahime hurriedly opposed.
“Ask him” Shoko said.
“Ask me what?!” Gojo popped his head out from Utahime’s bedroom and began getting close to where Utahime sat.
“N-Nothing” Utahime replied.
“Ohh. Okay. Hey Utahime, yesterday I went shopping, and I bought something for you” Gojo shoved his hand into his jean’s pocket before smiling and throwing a red panty on Utahime’s face.
“I saw you only have black and white panties, so it’s a gift” Gojo said with a big smile.
“GO-JO” Utahime’s cheeks were blushing both from anger and embarrassment. After that, it was a mess when she threw everything she could grab at him.
Sometimes, all four of them went to have dinner together and Gojo always sat next to Utahime. It was natural for Gojo and Utahime to do everything together.
____________________________________________
…When Gojo was in university…
Gojo clan was famous for owning the biggest media company in the country. Undoubtedly, people knew him not only as of the only heir but also as one of the smartest people who had a pretty high IQ of around 200. He got offers from universities, but chose to do examinations with the same process as everyone else and had the highest scores on tests.
Once they got into university, they still studied in the same university, just in different faculties.
Gojo was a hot guy as well as Geto. Gojo was playful and positive, always friendly flirting with women. Geto was reserved and sweet, always calm cold to women.
Gojo had many women who craved to be called his but Gojo always held those women more like a one-time thing. If a woman said yes to one quick session with him, then he would be okay. If they said no or wanted a commitment from him, he would ask them to find a better person because his heart was already taken.
It hurt him a lot when he discovered Utahime date men. He really really wanted to snatch her away and punched those stupid faces who dared to look at her, but he wouldn't do something that made her unhappy. He wanted to be selfish, deep down he realized it was his fault that he couldn’t make her trust him.
Many women might have warmed his bed, but they meant nothing. He did it while waiting for his crush. He wished Utahime to explore the world, to find what she liked, to have some freedom. No matter how long he would need to wait, he would wait until he was sure she was happy without him.
“Utahime, what are you gonna do today?” Gojo asked while driving her back to her place.
“Reading” she replied.
“Wanna go on a date with me?” Gojo asked.
“No”
“Whyyyyyy?”
“Because don't want to be one of the women who wait for you on your bed, or in your bathroom, or maybe in the trunk of this car too” Utahime answered.
“Say you love me back and I’ll only have you. I don’t need anyone. I only need you” Gojo announced.
“Stop playing, Gojo. You’ve been asking me this since Naoya asked me on a date. You know, I won't date him, so no need to protect me” she explained.
“It’s not about that idiot. Don’t you believe me that I can have only you?” Gojo asked after parked the car in front of her apartment.
Utahime signed “I believe you and I know if you find someone you truly love, you would do anything for that person”
Gojo smiled and nodded before his smile was gone after hearing the word ‘BUT’.
“BUT I know you just want to tease me too. You told me you liked me when we were in middle school and a second later you asked me what the color of my panty was”
“Well, t-that w-was when we were in middle school! I have grown up now!” Gojo fought.
“Right…right, in high school, you told me you liked me a lot. A second later, you told me you saw my bra in my bathroom and it looked like an old lady bra. You even suggested that I needed to change my styles” Utahime had an annoying look while digging her memory.
“Utahime, t-that was in high school!!!” Gojo yelled in protest and crossed his arms over his broad chest.
“Ohh last week, you told me you are in love with me, I was better than any woman you came across with because I didn't have a g-string panty” Utahime smiled at him but Gojo felt like she wanted to kill him.
She got out of his car and went back to her room. Once she was in her private bedroom, she sat down on the floor. She placed her forehead on her knees.
Unfortunately, Gojo never knew Utahime had the same feeling for him. She was hopelessly in love with him. More years had passed, more love grew in her heart. She witnessed how he flirted with women or how he played with them.
Days went by, and she learned those women were nothing, but her jealousy was never gone. Yet, Gojo had proved it, no matter what happened he would always be by her side. He always came for her. Still, she disliked how he was always so touchy with other women that much.
Every day with Gojo was happy. She wished she could say yes to him every time he asked her out if he was serious about asking it.
She wanted the world to know she was his girlfriend. Nonetheless, what if the relationship didn’t work?, what if she broke up with him and lost him forever?, what if he didn’t love her as much as she loved him? what if she's not enough for him?
For Gojo, he was never fearful of anything. If it didn’t work, he would make it work. Still, the most fearful would make Utahime feel unhappy. He couldn’t stop himself from being scared to lose her.
That was why he ended up teasing her after trying so hard to confess his love. That was why he rather wanted to be an option for her, he wanted her to decide who would be good enough to walk with her, though if that person wasn’t him, he could accept it, probably…
He sank more into his driver's seat and covered his face with his palm. “Hime, you don’t know how much I love you”
____________________________________________
After they graduated from the university, Gojo, Geto, and Shoko worked as professors at the university while Utahime worked in a different branch.
Even Gojo and Utahime worked in different universities. Gojo always drove to her place to spend time on the weekends with her.
Gojo and Utahime liked to go hiking together. He didn’t like or dislike it, but he would do it because she liked it. Even though he had to wake up at 4am and pick her up at 6 am, he would do it.
Even though he wanted to go home to take a rest, if she wanted to continue, he would do it.
Even though he had a lot of work to complete and may not be able to sleep at night, he would still choose to be with her.
“Gojo, you don’t need to come with me. I can go with other friends” Utahime told him.
“I want to spend time with you,” Gojo said softly.
Utahime looked up to meet his stunning eyes. It was so close, so close for her to tell him. She loved him a lot until Gojo’s phone rang.
“Hey Rin, I’m busy. I’ll call you back” Gojo hung up.
“Rin? My co-worker? Is she your girlfriend?” Utahime asked with slight anger.
“I never have a girlfriend. That spot is saved for you. And I don’t like Rin” Gojo responded.
Utahime closed her eyes. She cursed herself to have these complicated feelings. She was at her limit now. She felt like she was at a dead end. She didn’t know what to do, or where to go. She never knew what she was going to decide would change everyone's lives forever.
____________________________________________
At her workplace, it was still an ordinary morning for Utahime, but it was a busy morning for everyone. She noticed a lot of her co-workers were busy doing make-up.
“Rin, what happened?”
“Ohh, we got a new professor. He’s so handsome” her co-worker told her while smirking.
Utahime knew Rin liked Gojo a lot. She was irritated to hear that Rin approached Gojo though Rin told her once that she thought Gojo and Utahime looked good together. Maybe it was a lie.
Utahime slowly turned to where the head of school was walking along with a handsome man. For the first time in her life, she couldn’t take her eyes off someone since her eyes were always focused on Gojo.
He was so tall and muscular though his gray plaid suit tried to hide his body. His hair looked neat with the styling gel, but she could tell without the gel, his hair might be soft. His hair color was blond and shining like the sun in the morning.
Utahime bit her pink bottom lip without realizing it. She was nervous, she remembered it now. She met him before in one of her classes at the university.
She was recalling her past situation with him and wasn’t aware Nanami got close to her.
“Iori?” Nanami called her name.
“Nanami” Utahime smiled shyly.
“Good to see you again” Nanami said while sitting next to her.
“Me too. D-do you remember me?” Utahime murmured softly.
“Of course, you sat next to the window and tied your hair with the big red bow. Hmm, also you secretly ate cookies” Nanami chuckled and placed his elbow on the table and positioned his face on his hand while looking at her.
Her cheeks were hot. She was shocked how he could remember those small details when she tried so hard to recall that day. She couldn't remember much about that day except Nanami was very kind and different from other men she met.
Since Nanami worked at the same university with her, she got to spend time with him more often. She had lunch with him every day, and had coffee with him when they had no class. However, she never got to spend time with him on the weekends.
“Nanami, what are you doing this Saturday?” Utahime asked.
“Nothing special” Nanami replied while reviewing the paper.
“Iori, do you need anything?”
“N-no”
“I’m about to go home, so take care, Utahime” Nanami gathered his stuff and walked to the door.
….
“Nanami, d-do you like hiking?” Utahime asked.
“Not much. Do you?” Nanami looked at her.
“Yes!! Do you want to go on the weekend together?” Utahime questioned.
“I can’t but will find time” he responded.
Utahime opened her mouth in an attempt to ask him something until she heard the familiar voice of a male friend.
“Himeeeeeeeeeee”
Both Utahime and Nanami saw Gojo walking with Rin to where they were.
Gojo stared at Nanami. The white-haired man had a strange feeling when he saw the blond man.
At the same time Nanami looked straight at those ocean eyes. He had an annoying feeling forming in his chest.
“You must be Nanami who the girls are talking about” Gojo spoke.
“I’m Nanami but not sure why the girls are talking about me” Nanami said.
“Gojo, I-” Utahime got cut off by Rin.
“Hime, the head of school wants to talk to you. You should go.” Rin smiled at Utahime.
Utahime was hesitant to leave Nanami here alone. However, it appeared Nanami could read her mind.
“Utahime, I’ll be fine. I’ll see you later” Nanami assured her.
After that, Utahime walked away, Rin approached Nanami.
“Gojo is Hime’s boyfriend” Rin muttered.
“Are you her boyfriend?” Nanami asked.
“Yes,” Gojo responded harshly.
“Then, Rin, I don't think it’s appropriate to be close to your co-worker’s boyfriend. You should respect Utahime and her privacy. Utahime is a nice person. She deserves good people and manners. If you both don't mind, please excuse me” Nanami wandered to his office.
Gojo observed Rin’s expression. She deserved it. The way she talked behind Utahime made Gojo angry, so he broke Rin’s heart and that was why Rin fled to a new guy.  However, the method Nanami used is good for him too.
“You hear that right? So don’t keep calling me as I told you not to do a while ago” Gojo looked down at Rin’s shocked expression and left.
____________________________________________
The week later Utahime tried to ask him out again.
“Kento, any plans this weekend?”
“Nothing particular” Nanami leaned forward.
“W-what? Why are you looking at me?” Utahime leaned back.
Nanami smiled “Nothing, let's go to class. You don't want students waiting for you, right?”
Utahime looked at how Nanami stood up and pushed his chair in place before standing behind her to wait for her and began walking together.
It always felt so good to be with Nanami. He was kind, smart, and gentle. He was a person she hoped to be with, but deep down she knew there was always a spot for Gojo in her heart.
While they were walking, Utahime asked him a question. “Wanna hang out on the weekend?”
“I thought you always spend time with your boyfriend” After he replied, he was stopped walking by Utahime who grabbed his muscular arm.
“Who told you that?” Utahime asked.
“Rin and your boyfriend” Nanami responded.
“Nanami, I don’t have A boyfriend!” Utahime shouted.
Nanami raised his hands in defeat before touching her head. “Okay, no need to be mad”
Utahime hurriedly told him. “They were joking. I don’t have a boyfriend. Anyway, wanna hang-”
“Be your boyfriend?” Nanami looked straight in her eyes.
Utahime was shocked and avoided looking at his almond eyes. “N-no! Just hang out to get to know each other a-and maybe if it works, I-I don’t mind”
Nanami chuckled. “Let’s just see each other for now. This weekend, hmm, I don’t think I can meet you. It's my sister's graduation, so I have to be there for her”
“You have a sister?”
“Not related by blood, she lost her family when she was young. I thought of her as a sister and I've been taking care of her too. Well, she was like 8 years apart from us. Still young but a good girl” Nanami smiled warmly.
“C-can I go with you?” Utahime observed how Nanami seemed uneasy with her request.
“If you don't want me to go, it’s okay. Just thought it would be good if your sister saw many people since she umm lost her family” Utahime explained.
“I- also think it’s a good idea. But my sister is a quiet person. She doesn't talk a lot with new people. I don’t want you to think she’s weird. She experienced a lot in her life. I care about her and it’ll hurt me if someone hurts her” Nanami looked straight.
“I won't. Don’t you forget I’m a professor who teaches many kids!” Utahime laughed.
“Right, and a favorite professor among us” Nanami smiled.
____________________________________________
“Shokoooooooooooooo, what should I wear???”
“ohhh noooo, what should I get for his sister too? What kind of flowers? A doll? I don't know what she likes” Utahime whined.
“Hime, you’re not his girlfriend, and just be there to congratulate his sister,” Shoko said annoyingly.
“B-but we’re seeing each other!” Utahime protested.
“So?!” Shoko raised her voice.
“I like Nanami!!!” Utahime shouted.
“What did you say?” Gojo opened the door of her apartment with a gloomy face.
“Gojo… How come you can open it?” Shoko asked.
“I know the password of course!” Gojo responded.
“More like I know it” Geto walked in following his white hair friend.
“How come did you know?” Utahime questioned.
“You were drunk and told me last time” Geto smirked.
When everyone was shocked by Geto’s response, Gojo walked straight to Utahime, then carried her on his shoulder and walked out of the apartment.
After Geto and Shoko watched, they both left the door. Geto broke the silence first.
“Gojo should tell her”
“I think they both should come clean and you should too” Shoko said.
Geto said nothing, but sat on the couch. He had been Gojo’s best friend for a long time. He knew how much Utahime meant for Gojo. Geto had also looked out for Utahime for a while, as much as he liked her, he could tell Utahime loved Gojo.
He just wanted to see two people who he loved the most stop being idiots and ended up with each other. However, he understood that sometimes human’s feelings and ideas could be unreasonable to find out.
At the same time, Gojo carried Utahime to a park close to her apartment. He gently dropped her on a bench. Then, he crouched down on one knee to look at her eyes.
“Why, Nanami?” the white-haired man asked.
“Just want to try. It might be possible” Utahime replied.
“Then, why can't you try with me? why can’t it be me?” his icy blue eyes locked on her.
“I- Gojo, we’re just seeing each other. I-I just think if it’s Nanami, I may be happy” Utahime averted his eyes.
Gojo’s eyes were still stable, but his heart was ripped to pieces. Right, he would wait until she chose, his priority was to protect her happiness. Slowly, his mouth formed into a wide smile.
“I respect your decision. Just remember this, I’m still here. Lets’ go, they’re waiting for us” Gojo stood up and began walking ahead.
Utahime looked at his back. It was too complicated. She still loved him. She had loved him since she was young, it wouldn’t be too easy to stop loving someone whenever she wished. Nevertheless, the new rose that just bloomed was too seductive, too fresh to try.
“Thanks for bringing us dinner, Geto!” Shoko shouted.
“Excuse you!!!!!!! I was the one who paid for it” Gojo frowned.
“You did for Hime anyways” Shoko murmured.
“What? What did you say? I don't hear it” Gojo gave her a fierce glare.
“The reason I murmured was that I didn’t want you to hear, idiot” Shoko clarified.
Geto and Utahime laughed at how Shoko and Gojo were about to start a fight.
“I HATE YOU!” Gojo yelled before running to hug Utahime.
Utahime was stunned at how his smell surrounded her. It earned her heart pound too fast. Shortly, she recalled how Kento misunderstood her relationship with Gojo. Utahime used all her power to push away Gojo’s body far from her.
“Stop hugging me. I don’t want anyone to get the wrong idea that you’re my boyfriend” Utahime yelled.
“Like I care” Gojo stuck his tongue out.
“By anyone, I think you mean ‘Nanami’ right?” Geto spoke from his place.
Unexpectedly, the atmosphere was heavy. Gojo was silent. Utahime could only look at her hand. Shoko and Geto felt sorry, but they could do nothing more than watch how the situation would unfold.
Gojo acknowledged that he was making Utahime have a difficult time because he couldn’t accept her situation. How could he do it? This was the first time he saw she was actually serious about having a relationship with men.
Not just any man, but more a good man like Nanami. Yes, he heard about Nanami from girls who worked with Nanami and Utahime. Besides, he experienced how Nanami talked with Rin. He saw with his own eyes at how Nanami was kind, smart, and handsome.
“Hime, let’s go somewhere on the weekend. We haven't hung out together for a while, you know! when I ask you out, you always say ‘this weekend I have papers to grade’, Just Give Me time!!!” Gojo scowled.
“Umm, can’t do this weekend too. I-I have to go to the graduation ceremony with Nanami” Utahime clarified.
“Why do you have to go with him? For who?” Geto was curious.
“For Nanami’s sister. Not his real real sister, but seems like Nanami has known her since she was young, right? that was what you told me, wasn't it?” Shoko eyed at Utahime.
“Yeah…” Utahime replied shortly.
“Where will it be?” Gojo asked.
“At the university you both work” Utahime looked between Gojo and Geto.
Both men didn’t say anything, just nodded. Yet, no one knew except Gojo that he just thought of a special plan for Utahime and Nanami.
“Have fun then! Geto, let’s go, these ladies need time to relax” Gojo dragged Geto from the sofa and left the apartment.
Utahime watched as Gojo pulled Geto out from her apartment.
“Shoko, I don't feel good…Gojo said nothing” Utahime chewed her soft lip.
“Don't think too much. Let’s go sleep” Shoko touched Utahime's head and walked into a guest bedroom.
____________________________________________
Sakura was blossoming everywhere. People carried gifts and greeted each other. Parents came to celebrate with their children. You stood under one of the white sakura trees. The surroundings were full of happiness, but you felt bitter.
You were glancing at the sakura above your head while waiting for Nanami. He was a special person for you besides Yuki and Toge.
You heard someone calling your name, so you looked to see a man with black hair. He was tall and pale. He wasn’t so handsome, but he was so cute with his personality, voice, and those eye bags.
“Y/N!!!” Yuta shouted.
You grinned at him and waved your hand.
“Are you waiting for Nanami?” Yuta asked.
You nodded and peeked at his hands that were hidden behind his back.
Yuta bent his body forward and beamed at you before giving a bouquet of white, blue, purple, and pink hydrangeas. “For you, y/n. Thanks for being with me and thanks for accepting me”
You slowly took his bouquet from his hand. Then, you looked into your traditional Japanese purse until you found a handmade bracelet that you customized specifically for Yuta. It was a silver chain with a blue moon double dangle and a glittering silver star.
“It’s so pretty! Is this a gift for my graduation?” Yuta asked and offered his wrist to you.
You nodded and deliberately wrapped the bracelet around his wrist. You watched how he looked between his wrist and you. Suddenly, both of you heard his phone ring. He checked the message to see who it was.
“I have to meet my relatives and parents, sorry y/n, can I see you later?”
You nodded and gave him a soft smile.
Yuta turned back and was about to run, but he stopped and turned to you again. “You’re so beautiful with the kimono”
Your eyes were wider. Your cheeks were rosy. You stared as Yuta hurried to find his family. You met Yuta when you first got to university. He was a friend of Toge and he came to your house a lot to hang out with Toge. To you, Yuta was someone you could talk to without feeling like a freak.
“Y/n” a woman's voice that you remembered, your aunty.
“Yuki!” you ran to hug her.
“Baby, where is Toge? I was late because I thought he would be with you!! I will put him in jail when I see him” Yuki sulked.
You giggled quietly. “I told him to meet his friends because I’m waiting for …”
“Nanami?” Yuki cut you off as she understood deeply how important Nanami was to you.
“Baby, Yuta is a nice guy too, just so you know. Anyway, gotta find that boy and bring him here, so we all can take a photo for our family!” Yuki winked at you before running away. You only shook your head.
“Congratulations, angel”
You immediately looked to where the voice came from. Only one person who would call you that was your admirer, Nanami.
You were about to say his name, gladly you saw it first, you saw he came with a woman with long black hair.
You bent yourself to greet them. There was no smile on your face, just a natural expression you had when you meet strangers. Though inside, you were disappointed that he brought someone you didn’t know with him.
“Y/n, this is my co-worker, Utahime. Utahime, this is y/n, my sister I told you about” Nanami introduced both of you.
‘Sister’ you thought. Yes, that was you could be for him. You reminded yourself.
“Y/n, it’s nice to meet you. Here it is” Utahime gave you a bouquet of red and white roses.
You took it and bent to her.
“Nanami and I spent a lot of time choosing it! Nanami’s excited to be here” Utahime told you.
You nodded.
“Ohh, u-umm I’m sorry that I’m here without asking for your permission. I-I just heard a lot about you so I wanted to congrat you. I hope you don’t mind” Utahime explained.
You nodded lightly and bent yourself in appreciation for Utahime.
“Y/n, where are Yuki and Toge? Why do they let you be here alone?” Nanami asked.
You pointed to where Yuki ran to find Toge.
“Okay, let’s go find them, come with us please Utahime” Nanami placed his hand on your back and walked next to you while Utahime was on the other side of him.
Utahime glimpsed at you. She never expected this when Nanami said you didn’t talk much to a stranger. This wasn’t just didn't talk much, but you didn’t even talk AT ALL.
You all were walking to find Yuki and Toge until…
“Nanaminnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn”
All three of you looked at where the man's voice was. It was your first time meeting this tall and well built person. His hair was white and looked fluffy like snow. His eyes were so radiant and blue like the sky on a clear day. Your eyes were caught at the sunflower on his hand that was slowly coming in front of you.
“For you, little one” Gojo smiled shiningly at you.
You slowly took the flower from his hand and looked up to see the sky-blue eyes.
You and Gojo locked eyes with each other and only God knew how long.

Gojohime fic: Chapter 3
https://archiveofourown.org/works/45118801/chapters/115895296
A few seconds later, the named Iori-san enters the room, head held high and short steps that make her two ponytails sway on her shoulders. She's a petite girl dressed in navy blue kosode and hakama that make her look even smaller. Satoru recognizes in her that serene and traditional beauty that he has seen so many times replicated in the women of his clan, and it's enough for him to observe how she greets Yaga with a small bow and polite deference, to know that she embodies everything he despises. An spark of contempt ignites in him, and from that moment on, he leans back in his chair with a bored expression on his face. Everything the girl does repels him: her diminutive presence in the room, her measured manners, the humility with which she presents herself, the sweet voice with which she invites her classmates to do the same, the warm smile with which she embraces them. Suguru is as polite and restrained as he always is, but Shoko responds with an enthusiasm that she had not shown for anything else until now. When it's his turn, however, and the three pairs of eyes are fixed on him waiting for him to deign to speak, Gojo has decided to be as arrogant as he can be and rocks back and forth on his chair with his hands behind his neck.

When it's his turn, however, and the three pairs of eyes are fixed on him waiting for him to deign to speak, Gojo has decided to be as arrogant as he can be and rocks back and forth on his chair with his hands behind his neck.

Ikenai Sakka to Nakai-kun! (Manga)
Tumblr media
Genres: Yaoi
Status: Completed
Author: Kujow
Favorite Character: Souma Tomoe
Favorite Chapters: Chapter 5, and Chapter 6
Tumblr media
Plot Synopsis: Iori Tachibana has never had any problems with women. He made his debut as a romance novelist with stories based on his own experiences, which both made him quite famous and started his extravagant spending habits. Now, for reasons he doesn't wish to disclose, Iori has writer's block, so he travels to a secluded inn in the mountains looking for a cure… The inn is run by his old friend Madoka, and she assigns cute, young Souma as his room attendant. But, Souma's a guy! Iori had been hoping for a girl… In particular, he'd been hoping for the beautiful female dancer he briefly saw outside. He thinks she might just be able to cure him… With that, he starts searching for her, but has no luck actually finding her. As a last resort, Iori asks Souma about the dancer, but while Souma knows her, he won't tell Iori anything… Could she have something to do with Souma's secret…!?
SPOILER ALERT!!
The story is surprisingly cute. However, it is too fast a pace. It would have been great if the flow had been stretched a bit. Honestly, I was waiting for them to confess to each other before they returned to Tokyo. I think it would also be great if there was more angst. Still, the story is good. The characters are also good. I just hope Iori will not get hurt and cheat on Souma. Iori is kind of an asshole. He is also forceful, and wants Souma to help him cure his ED. Souma is beautiful, nice, and honest. I'm a little disappointed that Souma has to give up his dancing just to support Iori.
I'm looking forward to the side stories since it is still tagged as ongoing.

[fanfic] Getting To Know You Better
Miyako had never felt quite this comfortable with too many people. Most of the time she didn’t even like being around a lot of people, since she spent most of her time at home with anywhere from one to five other people. She had enough of people.
But when she was with Hikari, it was entirely different. Hikari fit into a part of her that she’d not even known existed until it didn’t anymore. Until their partners fused together to become something more. She wasn’t sure how different Silphymon was from Hawkmon or Aquilamon, but Hikari didn’t seem to think that it mattered a great deal. That was their partner, no matter what.
And that meant Hikari was her partner - her Jogress partner. A companion that was a friend, a friend that was a companion, someone who was her and not her all at the same time, and Miyako didn’t even properly have the words to describe any of it, nor did she care.
I want to do something for her. It wasn’t a need. She didn’t think she needed to do anything other than be Hikari’s friend. But they’d been friends for months now and the desire to do so hadn’t been as strong as it was now.
It could have been any of the others. It could have been Takeru or Iori - though what that might have created, she had no idea. But she had Hikari and Hikari had her, and Miyako just wanted to do something to express how happy this made her.
Hikari was everything that she wasn’t. Hikari knew how to be quiet when she needed to be. Hikari did things for other people as a matter of course. Miyako liked to bring gifts of food when they were getting ready to go to the Digital World, but it wasn’t quite the same. Hikari just - did things. Miyako reasoned it out as best she could. She had to work at the store. Young Digimon were often hungry and needed food to be able to evolve. She had access to food. So, she brought food. Though her parents had been giving here looks lately. As long as she paid for it, they didn’t ask questions, but she wondered…
Anyway, she couldn’t decide what it was that she wanted to do with Hikari or for Hikari or whatever. What would Hikari like? They hadn’t spent as much time with just the two of them as they did with the whole group. What could really say what she wanted to say? And what did she want to say in the first place?
What might Hikari want, anyway? Food wouldn’t be right. Jewelry wasn’t even possible. She wanted it absolutely be from her heart. So what would truly make Hikari happy?
She had no idea of how long she’d been thinking about it before something that might work occurred to her. Slowly she reached to her D-Terminal and typed a quick message to Hikari, biting her lip nervously as she sent it, then checking to see if she had the money to make this happen.
Just as she decided it could be done, the D-Terminal beeped and she checked the answer, half terrified that Hikari would have plans and half terrified that she wouldn't.
That sounds great! I’ll see you there! Hikari’s answer read and Miyako breathed a deep sigh of relief. It would just be a quick visit to a tea shop, one that one of Miyako’s cousins ran, and they’d just talk to each other. It wasn’t much but they could at least learn more about each other, so next time, she’d know something else to do.
Besides, the tea shop was one of the prettiest that she’d evewr seen, set in a beautiful neighborhood. Hikari liked taking pictures. She’d probably take a few there. That in and of itself would more than satisfy Miyako.
She ran a quick brush through her hair, nudged Poromon until he woke up, and set him in her bag. “We’re going to meet Hikari and Tailmon,” she reported as he yawned and tried to rub the sleep out of his eyes with one tiny wing. “And have some tea.”
“That does sound like an interesting afternoon,” Poromon agreed. “Let’s go!”
Miyako grinned brilliantly. “You got it.” She headed out of the room, humming under her breath, and looking forward to what the rest of the day would bring.
The End
Notes: I wish we had seen a lot more of how the Jogress partners interact. I am probably going to write a sequel on day five for the official Jogress prompt. But I also have always liked her friendship with Hikari and how the Jogress would affect it.

Ouchi ni Kaerou
一起回家吧
おうちにかえろう
Chapter 13
Mei and her classmates are all dressed up in yutakas. Mei’s classmate (Noa) asks her to turn back and look in her direction. When Mei does, a picture is taken of her. Noa then exclaims that Mei looks really adorable, and the others suggest that Mei should send the picture of herself to the person she likes. We then see the reason for them to be dressed up - they are in Kyoto (which is Mei’s hometown).
Noa asks Mei about what developments have happened between Mei and Iori. Mei replies with a blush that she and Iori have started dating. This surprises her classmates greatly and they get very excited - “Eh? What?!” “Tell us more details!!” “Kyaa! It must be so sweet now since you just started dating <3”
Mei, with a pained smile, answers that it’s not much. She then gives us a recap of the events one week prior.
Iori asks, “A school trip?”. Mei answers yes (Asahina chimes in that he’s going as well), that she will be going to Kyoto for 4 days and 3 nights. Kanon comments excitedly, “Isn’t Kyoto Mei-chan’s hometown? That’s great~ It sounds really fun! (Please buy us souvenirs- <3)”.
However, Mei looks anxious and says that she is worried. She asks, “Iori-sensei, do you know how to use the microwave?”
Iori replies, “What do you take me for?”. He then says that it’s not a problem and she doesn’t need to be so concerned about him. Kanon adds that she will still be around to accompany Iori too.
Asahina laughs in response to Kanon, saying, “Eh, isn’t that what’s most worrying?”. While Kanon goes “Hah?” and glares at Asahina, he disregards her response and tells Iori, “Ah, Iori-sensei. You can leave Mei-chan to me. We’re going to be in the same group, so we’ll always be together <3”.
Iori simply stares blankly back at Asahina, going, “Ah, I see.” Asahina laughingly remarks that Iori is as cold and indifferent as usual, then turns to Mei to say that he’s really excited about the trip. Mei awkwardly agrees.
Mei thinks to herself while glancing at Iori that she has been staying with him for a year, but this is the first time they need to be apart for so long. She sadly wonders if she is the only one feeling lonely.
Going back to the present, Mei's classmates (Noa, Tsumugi and Chiharu) excitedly point out Arashiyama (the mountain) and the Togetsukyou (a bridge in Kyoto). However, Mei seems to be leaning over the side of the bridge. Chiharu yells, “Mei?! Don’t jump over!!”
Mei then reassures Chiharu, saying that she was just looking at her phone. Mei then glances at her phone once more - she’s looking at her text to Iori, which says “I’m off! Don’t hesitate to contact me if anything comes up.”, but Iori has left her on read without replying. Mei sadly thinks that Iori isn’t contacting her.
Mei then starts worrying if Iori properly got up in the morning, whether he’s eating well, whether he remembered to feed Soseki, etc. Someone goes up to Mei and remarks, “That’s enough– you’re looking at your phone again.” and takes Mei’s phone away from her.
Mei turns to look at who it is - it’s Asahina. He’s also all dressed up in a yukata, but with a hat and face mask. He says that he’ll be confiscating her phone.
Asahina asks Mei if she’s been waiting for Iori to contact her, and Mei guiltily answers yes. He tells her to raise her head and look ahead. He says, “There’s such beautiful scenery before you. This school trip is such a rare opportunity, so you should properly enjoy yourself!”
Mei suddenly looks inspired. She thinks to herself, ‘Indeed, I have always been like this, looking down whenever I was worried about something. This also means that I must have missed out on those happy moments…’
Mei looks cheered up and she thanks Asahina. She then resolves to fully enjoy her trip - they go to the Arashiyama bamboo grove, ride a pulled rickshaw and eat ice cream.
Mei gets ice cream on her cheek. Asahina goes up to her, wipes off the ice cream with his finger and then licks his finger clean while telling her that she has ice cream on her face. This move is witnessed by Mei’s classmates and they freak out, blushing wildly. However, Mei simply smiles and thanks Asahina, not seeming to notice anything.
Chiharu and Tsumugi are impressed by how unfazed Mei is towards Asahina’s suave moves. Tsumugi comments that if it were her in Mei’s place, she would have blushed and nosebleed-ed to death. We see Asahina huff in disappointment.
Noa goes up to Asahina and giggles, saying that Asahina was rejected, as his moves didn’t work on Mei. She asks, “Sora-kun, you like Mei-mei, don’t you? What a painful one-sided love!”
Asahina responds, “I wouldn’t say that I like her. (I just find her reactions interesting.)”.
This shocks Noa. Asahina continues, saying with a smile, “Because, isn’t being in love really lame?”
“It’s so dumb, being led by the nose over someone else’s feelings. In the end, people only care about themselves.”
Noa is freaked out by Asahina’s response and runs away, exclaiming that Mei needs to escape from him - as he is a bad person.
Something vibrates in Asahina’s sleeves - he realizes that it’s Mei’s phone - Iori is calling her. Asahina goes, “...Heh–”, and answers the phone with a high-pitched voice (probably to imitate Mei), “Hello, Iori-sensei? What’s wrong?”
Iori instantly recognizes Asahina’s voice and goes, “......Asahina? Why are you holding onto Mei’s phone…”
Asahina answers, “Mei-chan is really busy now, so she asked me to answer the phone for her. Want me to call for her?”. (Meanwhile, we see Noa going up to Mei and asking Mei if she’s alright. Mei is just smiling at her, going ‘Eh? What?’)
Iori replies, “--No, it’s fine.” Asahina then says, “Anyway, calling your girlfriend while she’s on a school trip; Iori-sensei, aren’t you being too overbearing?”
“Don’t you worry, Mei-chan is having LOTS of fun here.”
Asahina then hangs up. He cheerfully says to himself, “If their relationship will be broken just like this, then that’s just too bad~”. He also deletes the call log.
Later that evening, Asahina approaches Mei to return her phone to her. Mei looks surprised and thanks him, saying that she had totally forgotten about her phone. Mei contentedly thinks to herself that this means she has been enjoying her trip to the fullest.
Asahina then asks Mei, “Mei-chan, do you want to try giving Iori-sensei a call?”. Mei blushes in response and goes, “Eh… Bu-but…”
Asahina tells her that Kanon went out today, so since Iori is alone at home, he might be feeling lonely.
We then see Mei sitting at a bench with her phone. She thinks to herself that she hesitated for 2 whole hours and it’s getting late (her classmates may worry and their teacher may get mad). She decides to cast away all her hesitations and presses “Call” on her phone. While the call is connecting, Mei is trembling with nervousness.
Iori picks up the phone - it’s a video call - and we see that he’s fresh out of the bath. He asks, “--What’s up?”
Mei immediately blushes and gets flustered upon seeing Iori through video call and doesn’t answer. Iori asks her what she’s doing, and Mei replies that she’s taking a screenshot (Iori tells her to stop).
Mei then asks Iori if he’s alright, to which Iori says, “I guess so. It’s only been a day, so nothing would change.”
Mei simply looks at Iori through the phone, thinking to herself, ‘It’s Iori-sensei–’ without replying. Iori then asks, “...Aren’t you very busy?”
Mei goes, “Eh? No! Not at all…”, however her classmates (Noa and Tsumugi) suddenly appear and call out to Mei, asking if she wants to join them to play poker cards. Tsumugi tries to shush Noa as she can tell that Mei is talking to her boyfriend.
Mei replies to Noa and Tsumugi, saying, “Ah! I’m sorry, I’ll go over later!”, but Iori tells Mei that she should quickly return to her room. He adds, “I also still have work. I’m hanging up.”
The call ends before Mei can say anything, and she gets upset. She thinks to herself that it’s unavoidable since he has work, but… (she doesn’t finish her thought, but we see her recalling Iori’s seemingly indifferent response “Ah, I see.”)
Asahina suddenly appears and asks Mei if she’s alright. He goes to sit down next to Mei and says that he heard everything. He adds, “If you’re fine with it, why don’t you talk to me about it?”
Mei pauses for a moment, then says, “...I thought, we’ve only been apart for one day, yet am I the only one who feels so lonely…?”
Mei begins to weep. Asahina goes, “Mei-chan…” and smirks to himself, taking the chance to put his arm around Mei to comfort her. However, upon seeing her crying face, he stops himself.
Asahina says to Mei, “That’s not the case!”
“Iori-sensei has always been a workaholic, right? It’s just that your timings aren’t aligned!”
Mei seems somewhat comforted at Asahina’s words. He then gets up and says that they need to wake up early tomorrow, so she should forget about this and go to sleep.
Mei smiles weakly and thanks Asahina for listening to her. While watching Mei walk away, Asahina looks downcast and asks himself what he’s doing.
The next day, Asahina looks very tired. Mei worriedly asks if he’s alright and he answers that he didn’t get to sleep well. While Mei worries about him, she notices some girls from other schools talking among themselves, “...That, that person!” “Is it him?! It’s him, right?!”
The girls have realized aloud that Asahina Sora is present. This causes a stir among the other people around - they go, “Eh? For real? In person?!” “Where, where?!” “I stan him so much <3”
Noa starts panicking and Asahina sleepily says that he should return to the hotel to sleep.
However, someone grabs his wrist - it’s Mei, who says, “That’s no good, Sora-kun! This school trip is a rare opportunity, right?!”
Before Asahina can react, Mei has taken his hand and tugs him along, going, “This way!!”. Meanwhile, Asahina’s fans are all giving chase.
We see Mei and Asahina in various situations, evading all the fans - hiding in a corner, giving wrong directions about where Asahina went, camouflaging as statues etc. Mei thinks to herself that enjoying their school trip is something important that Asahina taught to her, so she wants to help him defend it.
Later, the two of them reach a riverside and Mei is panting with leaves in her hair. She says that it should be fine since they’ve come all the way here. Asahina puts his hand to his mouth and goes, “Pfft…” and Mei exclaims, “Sora-kun?! Are you alright…”
Asahina bursts out laughing. While Mei looks at him confusedly, Asahina continues laughing and says, “Sor…sorry. I never thought that I’d dash around madly and play hide-and-seek in the heart of Kyoto!”
Laughing with a huge smile on his face, Asahina says, “It was super fun!”
Mei looks at him, and comments, “...So Sora-kun can also smile like that.”
When Asahina goes, “Eh…”, Mei continues, saying, “All this time, haven’t you been smiling with your picture-perfect smiles? Ah, of course those are good, too!!”
Smiling brightly, Mei says, “I just think that when you don’t hold back, it looks really nice!”
Asahina looks taken with Mei. He then leans towards Mei, telling her that she has a leaf in her hair.
Mei gets flustered, going, “Eh?! Where, where?!”
Removing the leaf from Mei’s hair, Asahina leans in close to Mei and says, locking eyes, “...What I think is that, compared to me, Mei-chan’s smiles are the loveliest.”
Mei looks dazed and remains speechless. We then see that Mei’s classmates have caught up to them, and they ask if Mei and Asahina are alright. Asahina replies, “Yep! (Thanks!)”, while Noa asks Mei if anything has happened.
Noa remarks to Mei, “Your face is so red!”, and we see Mei blushing, with a troubled expression on her face.

It was a dusky evening in the city and the only source of light were singly working street lamps, which lighted up the dark pavement in this cloudy night. Or so, this how was greeted when this blue-haired huntress in the city. She was wandering alone in empty streets, the only life forms, which she noticed were just a group of cheerfully singing drunkyards, who brings no harm as long as you not in their way. So, this huntress walk through them, ignoring their presence and just lowered her hood of her gray cloak. It was too peaceful for the city, which is terrorized by mysterious murderer.
However, after wandering for awhile, Leona rises her head and gets alerted for a second. One of upper floor windows has been opened and that person got this huntress attention. It was a beautiful young man with snow-white fluffy hair and pale skin, who gazed for awhile at the scenery of silent city. Now he placed his hands on the windowsill and leans forward outside the window revealing that he wore just a black leather open vest, which was holded together by big crossed stitches. But when this young man was half outside, he climbed on the windowsill and now there were also visible body-stocking black leather pants, with wide cut on tight sides and with same cross stitching down to his knees.
Is this young man planned to end his life? But then why did he looked so satisfied? Just the moment he jumped trough the window and instead of crashing into cold pavement, there was a a heavy sound of flapping wings. However, it seems that the blue-haired huntress’s presence wasn’t unnoticed and this demon playfully smirked at her before disappearing into the night. Even if it was useless, but she tried to chase the demon as long as her strength allowed, but it seems that after awhile she ran out of breath. For now, it would be wiser to find a place to stay, because capturing this demon might take couple days or more. Later on, she found a local inn and decides to call it a day.
The morning of another day has started. When the first sunbeams through the gaps of blinds, this blue-haired huntress just frowns and wrinkles her nose. It’s so annoying and too bright, though Leona, but eventually, she rolled to another side and slowly opened her eyes. All she did was just starring at her two blades on her night table. That’s right, this lady was never so fond or could stay any longer in day-light and that’s why no matter whenever it is hottest summer day or dark night, she will wear her cloak. But for now, she sits up and stretches, after all, it’s no good to stay in bed whole day for nothing. Besides, she is on mission plus now that demon shown up and mocks her, it is almost like this demon challenges her.
Good hour has passed, this huntress was just fixing her gloves before leaving. Firstly, she decided to gather information on inn and local bars. Half day has passed and aside rumors that yesterday was killed a daughter of one famous doctors, there was nothing much of it. This person seem to be also has greeted same fate as the other victims of the mysterious murderer. But even if this young huntress now realized that it might been the work of the silverhead young man, this mysterious creature also doesn’t seem to have a specific pattern for attacking and taste for his victims aside their age. So, it only hardens the hunt. Where to start, where to begin? - these questions only gave a headache for the huntress.
However, for now Leona decided to visit a church for getting a holy water and blessing her blades before staining them with demon’s blood. From what she heard, the church is on the north outside the city. After good hour, the huntress reached a church, which was surrounded by trees. The sun was already setting and the sky slowly was painted in that beautiful orange. Once this blue-haired lady reached the open door of sacred place, she notices a young priest silently praying to the statue of holy maiden. This brunette looked so calm and peaceful, but once he heard the footsteps of young huntress entering inside, Shingo stopped his prayer and looked to the direction of this huntress.
Now in calm tone he asks ‘‘Good evening, how can I help you at this hour?’’. After Leona approached more closely this priest and picked her knives and shown to him ‘‘I’m interested in this. Can you enhance them by blessing them?’’. However, this brunette was confused for a second and nervously chuckled, he just place his hand behind his neck and rub it ‘‘Well,…’’ and this reaction didn’t affected Leona, who even if kept her poker-face on, asked in slightly demanding tone ‘‘Your effort won’t be left unrewarded. So, how much do you want? Name the sum.’’
No matter how the huntress waited for the answer, young priest kept his acting but now he replied ‘‘Erm…Please, don’t get wrong, I could give a try, but I never done that before. Therefore, your weapons might end up damaged if anything would go wrong. However, tomorrow one person will arrive here, who may help you.’’. It seems that this reply didn’t satisfied this huntress, who just fixed her cloak ‘‘I see. In this case, I’ll wait here until tomorrow. Unless, you have any problems with this, sir.’’. Oh dear, sometimes you don’t know what our lord has prepared for us, so, you just have to accept it as it, right? Besides, it would be cruel to drive away a wanderer, who ask for shelter just for day. Or so, this how young Yabuki convinced himself. However,it seems that this priest was saved from any further questions when he and this persistent huntress heard a familiar voice behind them ‘‘Is everything alright, Shingo?’’.
It seems that it was a silver head young man with black turtle neck long sleeved shirt and pair of blue jeans was leaning against opened church door, who also been surrounded by the orange light of sunset. While Orochi was holding his one arm, he kept asking in concerned tone ‘‘Who is this person and what does it want?’’ but once Leona notices this young man, she was alerted despise that fact that this silverhead wasn’t affected at all. However, this brunette now concentrated on this new fellow and innocently asked ‘‘Do you know each other?’’. The fluffy silverhead just smiled and shake his head ‘‘No. I think she mistook me for someone else. I never met her before.’’. This person, surely didn’t rised any trust at all yet Leona now was curious about him. Something was off and she didn’t liked it a bit.
Hence, now there is another reason for overnight in the church. But this priest tried calmly to explain the current situation ‘‘Well, it seems that this young lady wants to enhance her weapons, however, the person, who knows how to do it, only arrives tomorrow. And now she wants to stay here overnight, but…’’ now Shingo lowered his gaze like feeling guilty, but after Orochi ignored this blue-haired huntress presence, he approached Shingo and gently placed his hand on this brunette’s shoulder and comforted him ‘‘It’s okay, you don’t need to shelter anyone whom you meet. You have a big heart and people will use your kindness, so, don’t be afraid to say ‘no’, you are not responsible for anyone whom you see.’’ now this young man gives a silent mocking gaze and smile for this blue-haired huntress.
Is this Orochi guy trying to drive her off or just purposely annoy her? However, no matter how this silverhead tried to taunt Leona, she must remain cool and not provoked into anger. Right now, the current task to hunt down the demon should be the only priority and concern. But this huntress didn’t give up and while ignoring this arrogant fellow asks priest ‘‘I don’t ask for any luxury, so, I’m fine even by sleeping on bench. The church is open for anyone, isn’t it, sir? As soon as your promised person shows up, I’ll take my leave.’’.
This brunette felt like he was cornered and with his gaze was asking Orochi for help, yet this young man only sighed and removed his hand. But now when he was facing Shingo, he took this brunette’s hand and gently holds in his hands, sighs and calmly replying ‘‘It’s up to you what to do. I’m sure that god won’t judge you on whatever you decide. ’’ it seems that this kind of comfort gave this young priest more confidence and now after with-drawing his hand from soft embrace, he gave his answer for Leona ‘‘I’m sorry that currently I cannot offer for the better option. However, please let me know if you need anything.’’, it seems that this answer was more than enough and it even made this smile ‘‘Very well, sir. I won’t cause any problems, so, rest assure.’’. As for this fluffy silverhead, he decided to return to Shingo’s room with such a though ‘‘That’s too bad…I still need more time. It can’t be helped then. Sorry, but tonight before departure, I need your strength, Shingo…’’…
Later on, when both young men left the church, Leona followed this silver-haired young man. He had a very dark energy around him, even if this priest does not realize that it may be the same demon, which she hunting down, it was wiser to check whenever her senses were false or not. Poor boy is so naive and have no idea who is this questionable type or so this huntress said to herself.

The fantastic adventures of Takeru Takaishi
Chapter 16: Infinite Koushiros
(4,916 words)
Everywhere Koushiro looked, all he saw were mirrored glass walls. The ceiling, the floor and the high walls, which must have been more than twenty meters high, reflected the image of a frightened and confused young man.
The reflections reflected one another infinitely, endlessly multiplying inside one another.
Koushiro was still wearing the brown pants, white shirt and suspenders that Yamato had lent him, but something in his reflection was different. His eyes, once black, had become red.
That place looked like a gigantic dome. The mirror-walled corridors formed a maze. Just below the high ceiling, there was a floating sphere emitting a faint white light. Koushiro felt cold.
Where am I? Koushiro wondered. Where is everyone? What happened?
He remembered the red thunders ripping through the sky, the huge door and the dark fog falling. Mimi had said that it was the end of the world.
"We died... because of me..." Koushiro was putting his thoughts together, leaning against a wall.
Old soul... world eater... infinity key...
"I killed everyone..." he concluded.
The weight of that truth was such that his knees could no longer support him.
Wherever he turned, he couldn't escape himself. Those reflective red eyes followed him and tormented him. Even when his tears no longer allowed him to see his image clearly, his agony did not subside. They were all dead! Taichi, Sora, Takeru, Miyako, Mimi, Daisuke, Iori, Ken, Yamato, Osamu... they all died by his hands, all because of his devotion to Taichi... everyone on the planet, maybe the entire universe... Koushiro had killed them all.
Where was he? That wasn't one of the hells he had known. It was a worse, more oppressive place.
And he was there all alone.
However, he would soon discover that this was not the case. He heard a voice from somewhere up ahead. Koushiro followed it and, after turning a few corridors, found himself.
The other Koushiro should be around twenty years old, like him. He wore a lab coat over his clothes and was standing in the center of a place that served as an intersection for four other corridors. He was looking up. Tears were falling from his eyes.
"Are you me?" Koushiro asked, when he was less than a step away from the other. He noticed that the other had a badge on his coat, with the name “Koushiro Izumi” and the word “Beleuchtung” written on it. “How can you be me? What is going on here?”
"My daughter looked so beautiful at her wedding..." the other Koushiro said, not taking his eyes off the mirrored ceiling. “I didn't think I would cry… how could I not cry? She was so happy...”
“There's no way you can have a daughter old enough to get married,” Koushiro said. "You're not old enough for that."
"I remember being old," the other said, finally looking at Koushiro. “I also remember this dream. You have finally arrived.”
The mirrored floor began to darken. Koushiro was startled to see that and walked away, jumping to where the glass floor still reflected his image. The other Koushiro remained in the same spot, smiling serenely.
"There's no reason to be afraid," he said as black smoke began to waft through the floor and envelop him, "death is just… silence…"
The smoke took the form of a large cylinder that rose ten meters into the air. At its end, there were two bright red dots. When it opened its mouth, displaying sharp black teeth, Koushiro realized he was looking at a giant snake.
He ran as fast as he could. Panic didn't allow him to organize his thoughts. After several minutes of running, he bumped into someone and fell on top of them. When he got off the other, he realized that it was a child very similar to him.
Little Koushiro had black eyes; the child's hair was a little longer than his. The kid wore an orange button-down shirt and brown shorts that reached his knees. His yellow gloves looked like they were made of rubber, but Koushiro couldn't guess the material of the strange shoes the child was wearing.
"Are you me?" the child asked, in a mixture of wonder and curiosity. Soon he was on his feet, examining Koushiro with wide eyes. "What is this place? Am I dreaming?"
"I don't know..." Koushiro replied, standing up and grabbing the boy's hand, "there's a monster here, we need to run!"
"Monster? A digimon?” the child asked.
"What? Digimon?" Koushiro asked, confused. That name sounded familiar, but he couldn't remember where he had heard it before. “It's a giant snake! I just saw it eat another Koushiro! At least, I think that's what happened..."
“How many of us are here? Why are we here? Why are your eyes red and your clothes old-fashioned?” the boy asked as he was pulled by the other, running through the mirrored hallways.
“Can you say anything other than questions?!” Koushiro inquired, losing his patience. The child didn't reply.
"I can't run anymore, I need to stop for a while..." the boy said after a few minutes.
Koushiro stopped running and let go of the other's hand. The boy leaned against one of the mirrored walls as Koushiro sat on the floor.
“Sorry if I was rude just now,” Koushiro apologized. "I didn't mean to be harsh, I just..."
"It's okay, sometimes I'm unintentionally rude too..." the child said. "I think that's how we are..."
"Maybe..." Koushiro muttered. "I'm Koushiro, by the way."
"That's my name too," the other said. “I'm Izumi Koushiro, I'm in the fourth grade of Odaiba Elementary School! It's nice to meet you!"
"I don't know why your school grade is relevant right now, but okay..." Koushiro commented. “Did you say Odaiba? Is that a place?”
“Yes, it's in Tokyo.”
“What is Tokyo? A country?"
"Isn't there a Tokyo where you come from?" the boy asked, surprised. “Is there a Japan there?” "I've never heard that name before," Koushiro replied. "You must come from a very different world than mine."
"Different world?" the child muttered. “Like the Digital World?”
"What is that?" Koushiro asked. That name also sounded familiar, almost like something he had heard in a dream.
"A world that exists in my world's computer network, where the digimon live."
“What are computers and digimon?!” Koushiro kept asking, feeling that he should know the answers to those questions.
"I don't have my laptop bag, I wish I could show you what a computer is," the boy lamented. "It's so strange that there is another me that doesn't know what computers and digimon are."
"If I started to tell you about my life, I don't think you would understand much either..." Koushiro commented.
"You haven't said anything about yourself," little Koushiro pointed out. "Where do you come from? How is your world?”
That question made painful memories resurface in Koushiro's mind. He shut his eyes closed, as if that action could bury that tragedy in his heart.
"It's not important," Koushiro said, standing up. “We've had enough rest. It's time to get moving again, before the serpent finds us.”
“We also need to find a way to get back to our worlds,” little Koushiro added. “I was helping Taichi-san to look for medicine for his sister. If I don't go back soon, Hikari-san might...”
He's friends with Taichi and Hikari in his world as well, Koushiro thought. Hikari is sick over there, and he's trying to find her a cure... is this something that happens in every world?
Koushiro began to walk again, followed by the kid.
“Do you have friends in your world?” the child asked.
“There were people that I loved very much,” Koushiro replied. “They're all dead now.”
He didn't think a lot before saying those words. Koushiro didn't feel like coming up with some elaborate story to hide what he had done. It would just be wrong to lie about that, not to mention pointless. Nevertheless, saying those words aloud didn't make his heart any less heavy.
It took him a minute to realize that the kid wasn't following him anymore. Little Koushiro was standing in the middle of the corridor, his eyes were brimmed with tears.
“I am so sorry!” the child said, looking down.
“Don't be sorry for me,” Koushiro told him, resuming to walk.
“If it's okay to ask, how did it happen?” the child asked, running to catch up with the other.
“Why do you want to know that?” Koushiro questioned, not looking at the kid. “If we're the same person, I don't suppose you're very good at comforting others.”
“Ever since we've gone to the Digital World and enemies started to target my friends and me... and then my world, and my family... I've been afraid that they could all die. I'm always thinking of plans and doing my best to prevent that, but... if I were to fail and something horrible happened... if the people I care about got hurt or worse because of my incompetence, I don't think I would be able to live with myself...” the child confessed, wiping his tears with the back of his hand. “Sorry... it's unusual for me to talk about these things. I don't know if it's insensitive to bring it up now, considering what you've been through.”
Koushiro remained quiet for a few moments. He knew exactly what that child was talking about. Little Koushiro feared that outside enemies would harm his loved ones, he probably never considered that he could be the one to hurt them. But if that child ever thought of that possibility, Koushiro was sure it would crush his heart.
“My world was destroyed by a horrible creature... a cosmic abomination...” Koushiro told him. “It's not like it wanted to do that. It didn't even know what it was. But, in the end, it didn't matter what its intentions were or whether it only wanted to help people... things backfired horribly... the world came to an end. If there is justice, everybody must've gone to Paradise, and they're all at peace now. Unlike them, I don't deserve Paradise. I couldn't save anyone...”
The child didn't say anything, but Koushiro felt his eyes locked on him. Maybe he had said too much. That last part about him not deserving Paradise for not saving anyone probably reinforced the child's fears. It would've been better if he hadn't said anything at all.
Then, they started to hear the sound of someone humming. Koushiro headed towards the sound, followed by the boy. After a few turns, they found a teenage Koushiro sitting on the glass floor with his back to them. The other Koushiro wore a long white coat. There were countless shards of glass around him, which probably came from the three broken walls that surrounded him. Where the glass used to be on the walls, there was endless darkness. A thick black mist seeped out of the darkness, slowly, onto the glass floor. Soon, it would reach that boy, and he would be devoured, like the first Koushiro was.
“You need to get out of there! It's dangerous!" Koushiro warned.
The other paid him no attention. He kept humming:
“How many seconds... in eternity... how many seconds... the little bird sharpens its beak... on the diamond mountain... how many seconds... how many seconds in eternity... how long do I have to wait?”
"Is he alright?" the boy asked, worried.
“I don't think so,” Koushiro replied. "He's surrounded by that fog. We'd better not get close to him."
"We can't do that! He needs help!" the child protested, running towards the other. Koushiro followed him, being careful not to step on the mist.
"Excuse me, you're lost too, aren't you?" the boy asked. When the other Koushiro turned to him, the child took a step back, stifling a scream. Blood dripped from the teenager's head. “Did the glass cut you?” Koushiro asked, approaching the other.
"Wisemon did this to me," the teenager replied.
“Wisemon?” little Koushiro asked. “Was that an enemy digimon?”
"I used to think he was my ally... I was such an idiot..." the other Koushiro said, showing them a mirthless smile. “We are all idiots, but the snake only came for the others. I don't think I even deserve silence..."
“Do you want to be taken by the serpent?” little Koushiro asked. "Why?"
"You haven't been here for long, if you're asking that," the other said. “There is no worse punishment than eternity. Being stuck with yourself forever... there's nothing that can compare to such agony.”
Suddenly, the other Koushiro stood up. He stared into the darkness in front of him. Koushiro and the child did the same. They heard footsteps coming towards them. Then, a fourth Koushiro emerged, leaving the darkness as if he had stepped out from behind a curtain. The man, who must have been about 30 years old, jumped onto the glass floor. He wore a black overcoat over a suit of the same color.
“I didn't think I'd see you again, Izumi Koushiro,” the teenage Koushiro said as tears welled up in his eyes.
"Sorry it took me so long to find you," the other said, approaching the young man.
“Did my brother come? Did he find you?” the teenager asked.
"Brother?!" Koushiro and the child asked at the same time, surprised.
"Makoto came," the man replied. “I told him everything… he knows you were saved in the end. Your brother returned in peace, he has good friends to take care of him.”
Teenage Koushiro smiled, letting the tears pooling in his eyes wash over his face.
“What about Hikari?” the teenager asked.
"Every year, we went to see the Christmas lights together," the man replied. “We were happy... until the end came...”
“She never liked endings,” the younger Koushiro murmured.
The man extended his hand to him. Without saying anything, the teenager held it and turned into white light, which was absorbed by the adult Koushiro.
The other two Koushiros looked at everything in astonishment.
“What the hell just happened here?!” Koushiro inquired.
"Did he die?! Did you kill him?!” little Koushiro asked, visibly scared.
“It's a long story,” the man said. “In short, that Koushiro was killed by a Wisemon and turned into an interdimensional computer program that existed for trillions of years. In his original world, the son of the Izumis never died and was his brother, who searched for his soul across the multiverse. In my world, his soul finally rested, and he gave me his memories, so I could talk to his brother when he came looking for him.”
The other two Koushiros stared at him, confused.
"WHAT?!" Koushiro shouted.
"I have so many questions... I don't even know where to start..." little Koushiro muttered.
"Like I said, it's a long story," adult Koushiro said. "It's not really relevant to our current situation, so I don't want to go into this further."
“Do you understand our situation?” the child asked. “Do you know where we are? How do we get back to our worlds?”
The man gave him a sad look.
“You haven't figured it out yet?” he asked. Then, the man looked up at Koushiro. “You didn't tell him?”
“Tell him what? I don't know what this place is either!” Koushiro stated.
“But you know that you are dead, don't you?” the other Koushiro questioned. “Like me, you remember your own death, isn't that right?”
Koushiro gulped. He immediately looked at little Koushiro and found a look of pure terror on his face.
“You are both dead...?” the boy murmured, taking a few steps backwards.
“This is a dimension where the fragments of a world eater's soul, from across the multiverse, gather and merge,” the adult Koushiro explained. “When our bodies die, some of us still spend some time in afterlife worlds, some reincarnate, but, in the end, we all end here.”
“Then, I'm... I... I can't be dead! No! I can't be dead!” little Koushiro shrieked, holding his head with his shaking hands. “I was helping Taichi-san to find Hikari-san's medicine! We survived that fall! I remember it, I can't be dead! It's impossible! I need to go back and help Taichi-san!”
“None of us can go back, I'm really sorry,” adult Koushiro had a sorrowful tone.
“No, wait!” Koushiro said. “Maybe there's a way to send you back to your world! I used to go back to life all the time!”
“That was because of a curse, and you can't do that anymore,” the older Koushiro told him. “There's no point in giving him false hope.”
“It's not false hope! I can still find a solution, I can't give up!” Koushiro shouted. “He's just a little kid with his whole life ahead of him! It's not fair for his life to be over! It's not fair for him to die alone and scared, without anyone to take care of him! I won't allow it!”
Hot tears streamed down from Koushiro's eyes. Children shouldn't die like that! Children should never die! It was the job of the adults to protect kids, and comfort them, and tell them they had no reason to be afraid!
No child should be allowed to fall into the abyss of death!
“He's not really a kid,” the older Koushiro said, startling the other two. He approached the boy and told him: “I've seen many Koushiros like you, I can sense that you're not a child. You're confused and afraid, and you haven't recovered most of your memories yet, that's why you think you're still the kid that was helping Taichi to find medicine for Hikari. But once you calm down, the memories of your life will return to you. And when you're ready, the serpent will come to pick you up and let you rest.”
“What does that mean?” little Koushiro asked. “What is going to happen to me when the snake comes?”
“You will cease to exist as yourself,” the older Koushiro explained. “We all will. But what will be created by our merging will be something greater than the sum of our parts.”
“I don't want to disappear! I don't want that!” little Koushiro shouted, running back to the corridor where they had come from. Koushiro was about to run after him, but the other Koushiro stopped him by holding his arm.
“He needs some time alone,” the older Koushiro said.
“What is wrong with you?! How could you say all those frightening things to a kid?!”
“Like I said, he's not really a kid. He just doesn't remember it yet.”
“That's beside the point! It wasn't right to just dump all that on him like that!”
“I couldn't lie to him, it wouldn't be right!”
“How do you even know all that?! How do you know what the serpent is going to do, and that little Koushiro is beyond salvation?! You could very well be wrong!”
“I know all this because I remember it from my dreams,” the other explained. “Once we, the fragments, are all together, the amalgamation of our memories ripple back through our timelines as dreams. You, too, had dreams of your other lives, right? You remember the ladybug monster called Tentomon, don't you?”
“Tentomon...” Koushiro recalled several fragments of memories. That big ladybug who protected him, the friend he saw in his dreams from time to time... his name was Tentomon. Then, the dreams he used to have with him were memories from other lives.
“It will all come back to you eventually. You're the very last one of us,” the other told him. “But I ask you that, once you remember what happened to me, please, don't be angry at Hikari.”
“What do you mean by that?”
“Just promise me, please,” the other insisted. “She was scared and desperate, she didn't want that to happen. Please, when you see her again, don't hold that against her!”
“Alright, I promise! Whatever it is that happened, I won't be angry at Hikari! I honestly can't even imagine myself being angry at her...” Koushiro said. “Wait, you said I was going to see her again? I thought I was going to be eaten by the serpent!”
“You will become one with the rest of us eventually,” the other explained. “But you still have work to do before that,” he turned his head towards the darkness, “you will find the other old souls that used to live in the world you destroyed. They are beyond the darkness.”
“And the snake isn't going to eat me before I find them?”
“No, it is a very polite being,” the other told him. “It will only come for you when you're ready. That's the reason so many Koushiros here waited a very long time before being taken. It was my case.”
The other Koushiro at last let go of his arm. The dark fog began to envelop him.
“It's alright,” the other told him, showing a small smile. “I've told you what I needed. I am ready now. Please, find Hikari!”
Koushiro jumped back to the corridor from where he had come just before the fog took the shape of the black snake. The large animal stared at Koushiro with its red eyes, without moving.
“I'm the last one you'll take, right?” Koushiro asked. “You're going for little Koushiro first... you'll wait until he's ready...”
Koushiro imagined that scared child alone in that maze of mirrors, wandering aimlessly for who knows how long, unable to find peace. If the thought of not being able to save that kid's life tormented him before, the thought of abandoning him in that place was torturous.
He walked down the corridor, looking for the child. After a few minutes, he found him sitting on the floor, pressing his back against a glass wall, looking at his own reflection at the wall in his front. The boy had a serene expression. Koushiro sat by his side.
“I'm starting to remember...” the child said. “I'm actually very old... better said, I was old. I lived until I was 91...”
“I never got to be an old man...” Koushiro commented. “Now, I'll never get to be one.”
“I'm sorry about that,” the boy said. “To grow old was a privilege. I had the chance to learn so many things... and I got to pass down that knowledge. Also, I was able to help lots of people. That made me very happy.”
“I'm glad you had a good life,” Koushiro muttered, a bit jealous.
“It wasn't always great,” little Koushiro continued. “In times of crisis, I forced myself to work without rest until I found a solution. Back then, I didn't realize that I was slowly destroying myself. I kept thinking: 'I can't stop now, my friends need me.' If I had stayed like that, I'm sure I would've died at a young age. But then, the most wonderful thing happened.”
“What was it?” Koushiro asked.
“I met someone who made me stop,” little Koushiro replied, showing a small smile. “Someone who made me see myself and respect my limits... someone who made me realize my worth wasn't tied to how much I could do for other people. And that person stayed by my side until the end.”
“I'm really glad you had a person like that in your life,” Koushiro said, wiping a couple of tears from his eyes. He couldn't escape the growing jealousy he felt for his other self.
“I had this dream sometimes...” the kid said. “I was trying to save Taichi-san from fire wings, so I summoned a huge scythe... and then the world ended. The despair that nightmare caused me was so profound, it wasn't easy to go back to sleep afterwards. That wasn't really a dream, was it?”
Koushiro remained quiet for a few seconds.
“I told you my world had been destroyed by a cosmic abomination. However, I hid the fact that the abomination was me,” Koushiro confessed. “I spent most of my existence trying to save the world, trying to help people... but in the end I only brought misery and death to everybody. I was a tool used by a mad woman to destroy the world, I wasted my life fighting a battle I couldn't win. Nobody ever made me stop...”
Large tears escaped his eyes. All the pain he had buried for hundreds of years was resurfacing.
“Listen to me now, Koushiro-san,” the boy said. “Things might have gotten out of your control, but you're not a bad person! Don't torment yourself for your failures! Instead, you should think about what to do next.”
“There's nothing left to do!” Koushiro stated. “Don't you understand? I destroyed the world! Everybody is dead! I killed them all!”
“There was a time when my friends and I were turned into pure data. I think that was similar to being dead,” the boy told him. “My friends and I came back from that, we kept finding a way back every time everything seemed to be lost. Have faith in your friends, Koushiro-san! If they're anything like mine, a mere apocalypse is not enough to defeat them.”
The black fog surrounded them, coming from both sides of the corridor. The child stood up and smiled. There wasn't a shred of apprehension on his face.
“I am ready!” the child announced. He was then absorbed by the darkness.
Koushiro stood up. In the darkness, all he could see were the glowing red eyes of the serpent.
“The people from my world... my friends...” he began to say, “are they gone forever?”
“The souls of the inhabitants of the world you consumed are all inside you now,” a voice spoke inside his mind. “They are in a pocket dimension in your subconsciousness, waiting to be reborn in a new world.”
“How can they get to that new world?” Koushiro asked.
“First, a new world must be created. That will happen only after you, the last Koushiro, become one with the rest of us.”
“Then, the other Koushiros and I will create a new world together?” Koushiro asked.
“Once the infinite fragments of the soul of a world eater come together, they don't create a new world, exactly. They become a new universe,” the voice explained. “As the last Koushiro, you'll get to choose a fundamental rule for the next universe. Some shred of your consciousness might remain for a few decades. But in the end, everything that made you yourself will disappear. All that will be left will be a universe with no sentience, where life will bloom, until the next old soul becomes a world eater and the cycle begins again.”
“I see...” Koushiro muttered, bracing himself. “I'll disappear, but at least I'll get to save everybody... they'll all be alive again in a new world. That should make me happy... I should be happy...”
More tears fell from his eyes and Koushiro began to tremble. He should be happy! He was going to save everybody! Wasn't that what he wanted? For what other reason did he endure so much pain for such a long time? He should be happy! Koushiro would give a better world for his friends. Taichi, Sora and the others would all have happy lives... without him.
Koushiro would make the ultimate sacrifice and be stuck with himself, alone, for decades until his consciousness completely fades away. He found himself unable to be truly happy for all the people from his world. In the end, he wished he could be happy with them, as well.
“There are three old souls beyond in this darkness,” the voice informed. “You need to find them and help them before joining us.”
“And after I do that, you will find me and everything will end...” Koushiro muttered, looking at the snake's eyes.
“It's the only way to create a new beginning. But we will only come for you when you're ready.”
The serpent's red eyes disappeared. Everything turned dark.
Koushiro felt cold wind coming from his front. There was a small sparkly dot in the horizon. He should probably go there.
After taking a deep breath, he began to walk.
“They all need you! You can't stop now!” Koushiro told himself. “But once it's all over, you can stop, at last.”

sv88 spoilers

After days of torture watching jp twitter tweet spoilers, I finally got to read the new chapter and I’m so messed up now.
I talked about (well, sobbed about) it on twitter a lot already, but my fucking Tsukimitsu children are just the absolute best.  That’s most of what this chapter is.  Iori, Miyako, and Yumikage all three cast a spell together -- PERFECTION.  You know they probably had to train together in order to achieve something like that.  It explains why Iori called them there... and it actually explains why Miyako made such a strange face while she was on the phone with Iori.  I can only imagine she knew what he planned on doing.
Speaking of which -- Miyako fighting means the world to me.  She looks so beautiful in this chapter.  And I want to say her power is based on healing?  She seems to be attempting to heal Tooru, but I haven’t been able to read much of the dialogue yet since I’ve been crying online ever since my magazine arrived.
And for what it’s worth, Miyako’s spell at the end of her scene references the Valkyrie, which: “...In Norse mythology, a valkyrie is one of a host of female figures who choose those who may die in battle and those who may live.”
Yumikage, of course, was beautiful in battle as well.  I love how emotional he gets.  While Iori and Miyako both seem relatively level-headed with these matters, Yumi goes from pissed off to devastated and back again, and I just love their dynamic as a unit.  While Miyako and Iori were probably training together many, many years before Yumi was even old enough to do so -- I’m sure they have a certain connection they share, and Yumikage doesn’t always agree with their reasonings.
As far as I can tell... Iori has transported Mahiru and Kuro into a pocket dimension?  Or something of the sorts.  I won’t pretend to know for certain, but Iori has sent them elsewhere.  NOW in doing so, Iori is out for the count, though whether he’s truly dead or just unconscious, we really won’t know what to believe (because let’s face it, death is rare in Servamp and Iori hasn’t been around for long, killing him off makes little sense in a grand scheme.)
Some of you probably need to hear this, too--
Sakuya is back!  And Misono, on the last page!  Sakuya actually goes to the hot springs inn, I’m assuming to recruit help...?  He doesn’t SEEM to be there to fight, at the least... but it’s literally the last few panels that he shows up, so we’ll see.

"Play the Game" Masterlist
You stood by the door, watching the chaos in your brother’s bedroom as he prepared for his wedding at sunset, waiting for everyone to leave so you can finally speak to him in private. He was, after all, the only one in the family you cared for enough to inform him of your decisions.
People always say you and Gojo were similar. However, those very things that made you alike also set you apart. Besides the platinum white hair and remarkable blue eyes you shared – unique even within the clan – being the absolute obvious, the similarities stopped there.
You siblings were supposed to be akin to one another, but the same things they loved about your brother were the same things people abhorred about you. You and your brother were both prodigies. He was richer than the whole clan, all assets combined being the successful businessman he was ever since he was in his teens. It was as freakish as it was awe-inspiring. You were an artist of great renown with your multi-million dollar pieces and the youngest to have been dubbed as a national artist when you were the same age as him.
But where he basked in fame and acclaim, your prominence was fueled by infamy. Gojo built an empire that served as one of the pillars of the local economy. You produced artistic pieces that inspired execration and controversy. Undeniably brilliant, yes, but absolutely contentious.
Your brother was kind. In fact, he was the best older brother one could ever ask for, and that was not lip service nor was it because of your biases towards him. You can never discount how caring he is to you, how hard he tries to make you happy and how he would go through lengths as to be the idiot just to satisfy your whims. He was just genuinely good-natured although he appeared somewhat insouciant. He had his evil streak, too, which is established in the clan, but his goodness radiated like a light that followed him wherever he went.
However, you have long accepted that your side which reflected Gojo in every way when you were younger had long died. Altruism wasn’t one of your strongest suits and you were only ever affectionate to people you had deep, deep fondness for. And that wasn’t even something common. Even your parents had always been the receiving end of your lackadaisical attitude.
He attracted people, you repelled them. Being surrounded by the good people he called friends was a testament to that no matter how vexing his personality was, and more people want to be near him. Apart from your three friends, you didn't make any more and your school life sucked because majority of your classmates hated you. For what, you didn't know. You don’t think you will ever understand.
It was your seven-year gap that made all the difference, you liked to think. It was much easier to swallow than the concept of the whole cosmos conspiring to create two creatures to be equals but of the opposite nature. Maybe it wasn’t meant to be that way, but you will always be the one looking up to him regardless if you did not choose the same path as his; regardless of whether there were no comparisons with what either of you endeavored to do.
And above everything else, you loved Satoru very much.
“Got a minute?” You began, standing before him in front of the mirror. It was rather annoying watching him struggle with the cufflinks, and you didn’t think he would manage to fix the bowtie still hanging loosely on his neck. Thus, you thought of taking charge. “Give it here.”
Gojo was surprised, but he was nonetheless happy. He wore his heart on his sleeve after all, and you could only guess it was that vulnerability he risked showing that attracted people to him. You have only learned the intricacies of such a matter recently, something you had to agree with since it all made perfect sense.
“Thank you,” he said, tilting his head to the side, watching you work on his cuffs.
“You’re really getting married, huh?” you began, feeling yourself start to falter, but you have decided. You may not have gotten him the best wedding gift materially speaking, but you swore to let him in on what was going on with you, to be honest with him like you hadn’t been for the longest time. “Who would have known?”
“Am I finally getting that emotional pre-wedding sibling talk?” he asked, walking towards the seats by the window and looking out into the garden.
“You’re getting married, not being sent away to prison. I don’t even understand why this happens during weddings,” you quipped, sighing. “But I guess you could call it that.”
He smiled at you, patting the space beside him. You did as you were told, assuming the spot, but also looking out the window, watching as the organizers made finishing touches to the garden below. No expense was spared to make the occasion as perfect as it could get. You couldn’t argue with it. Gojo deserved the best, and to him, Utahime did, too.
“I’m waiting,” he said, breaking the silence that had befallen the room. “You’ve been pacing before the door for god knows how long when you should have been getting ready.”
“I got ready much faster than you did.”
“And you look beautiful.” He tilted his head to the side, eyeing you appreciatively. “Sometimes, I can’t believe you’re all grown up. And what a beautiful woman you’ve become.”
You smirked. “You’re looking at your mirror image after all.”
“Well, there’s that, of course.” He laughed slightly. “But I’m not just saying that because we’re basically the same person. You really are beautiful, baby sis.” He tucked a stray strand of hair behind your ear, opting for it instead of his usual choice of mussing your hair since it has already been styled for the wedding.
You just shook your head. “Thank you, Satoru.”
“So, what did you want to talk about exactly?”
“The other day…” Your voice trailed off, thinking about what to say. It wasn’t that way before between you and your brother. He was always the easiest person to talk to, always open minded and optimistic about matters. But now that you were going to discuss something that he had vocally opposed, you were a bit scared of saying anything. Nevertheless, it wouldn’t do Nanami justice if you decided to hold back now, considering that he was more than ready to speak to your brother.
You’ve both initially decided to sit Gojo down and tell him about your decisions together, but you informed Nanami earlier in the day that you needed to have a proper conversation with him first. It wasn’t just your choice to be with Nanami that was the matter, and you wanted to get things straightened out with Gojo before he gets married.
“Yes?” he prompted.
“You said I don’t talk enough to you; that I don’t tell you things anymore.”
Gojo slowly nodded.
You breathed out. “Things changed. We can’t deny that. I grew up and you…well, you’ve decided you want to spend your life with Iori and build your own family.” Your lips curled up awkwardly as you tried to keep your emotions at bay. It was new territory having such talks with him when you’re used to your easy-going dynamic with him. “I’m scared, too. I mean, I can’t just bother you anytime anymore cause you’ll have your wife and eventually children to pay attention to and prioritize.”
He was taken aback by what you said, immediately drawing closer. “What are you saying, Y/N? You’re my sister. Nothing will change –”
“Our bond will not change, dude, but you have to admit that what I’m saying is true.” You took his hand in yours, squeezing it gently. You beamed at the fact that your fingers were structured in the same tapered manner as his. Even the shape of your fingernails were the same, just that his hands were bigger than your delicate ones. “What I’m saying is that even if you need to do that, I will be fine.”
“Of course, you will be. You’re my sister, and above that, you are your own person, and you’re stronger than you think. You’ve been handling things on your own for as long as I can remember.” He pouted, trying to act cute with you. “It’s disappointing, to be honest, because you’ve never really given me the chance to play my role in your life because you’re always the mature one.”
You were confused now. “What are you on about? You’re my only brother, but I can’t imagine anyone else holding that position in my life. You’re the best I could have asked for. I’ve always looked up to you. You’re my role model.”
“I am?”
“Yeah. The fuck are you so surprised for?” You snickered. “That aside, if you felt like I’ve been leaving you out, that’s not the intention at all. I always want you to be the first one to know what’s going on with my life…”
He clucked his tongue. “I understand you’re not doing it on purpose, kid. I’m just worried that you didn’t think I’m worth telling anything because, well, I’m not exactly a proper adult, am I?”
“You’re realizing that now that you’re about to get married?” you taunted him, jabbing your thumb towards the direction of the garden. “Should I tell Iori to call this whole thing off?”
He waved you aside. “Hey, don’t say that!”
You chuckled, shaking your head. “Anyway, there’s something I wanted to tell you for a while now.”
“How long is a while, exactly?”
“Years and years.” You flashed him a rueful smile. “I just couldn’t figure out how to tell you because I am not exactly sure how you feel about it although you’ve told me many times you were opposed to it. What I’m saying it that, I know that fact, but it’s the motivation behind it that is beyond my knowledge.”
Gojo’s eyes rounded, realizing what you were saying. “Are you…”
You nodded. “Yes, I am talking about Kento.”
He just blinked and stood up, pacing around in front of you for a while that you had to stop him from doing it. He had such a bad habit of doing that when he is in deep thought, and always in front of you, too. He was making you dizzy.
You seized him by the wrist. “Please say something.”
“I…”
“Why are you opposed to it?”
He stopped pacing and faced you, taking you by the shoulders, his eyes starting to water. “Y/N…”
“Oh no, are you gonna cry?”
He furiously blinked his tears back, the action almost comical if it weren’t for the serious look on his face. “Because you are my little sister. You think it will be easy for me to just hand you over to anyone? My friends aren’t exceptions to that although I trust them with everything that I have. I will always, always worry about you when it comes to that matter because I don’t want you to get hurt. I don’t want you to be taken advantage of, and I don’t want to have to break either Suguru or Kento’s bones when the time comes.”
“I can manage the latter on my own.” You sighed, finding your resolve strengthening. “But like you said, I’m this old now. I want you to understand that I know what I am doing and I am confident about my decisions. Honestly, I didn’t want to talk about this as if I am asking for your permission. This is what I meant when I said I will be fine. I am not saying you don’t have a say in my life, but I am telling you this time because I want you to know before anyone else does.”
“Suguru doesn’t know?” he asked, eyes sparkling.
“Don’t be petty. I tell him things I can’t tell you just like you tell him things you can’t tell me,” but you nodded anyway. “He doesn’t know yet…I think.”
“So…you and Kento…”
You nodded again. “I’m in love with him, Satoru. And he feels the same way.”
“You are?” His expressions softened, hugging you to him. “You’ve grown. Really grown.”
You returned the gesture, holding onto him tight. “Please don’t ever think that I am leaving you out of my life because I always want to tell you everything.”
Just then, he pulled back, his brows furrowing while his eyes narrowed at you. “So, why isn’t he the one telling me this? Where is that bastard?”
You shrugged. “He wants to be here. Trust me. I just asked him if I could talk to you first because I have issues to resolve with you apart from my relationship with him.”
Gojo exhaled, nodding in understanding. “I understand, Y/N. But are you certain?”
“Yes. I’m scared of hurting him, but I’ll do my best, I guess.”
“Hmm, yeah. Maybe you should tone down on your mischief, too. I don’t want him dying of stress because of you. He’s still precious to me.”
At that, you laughed. “I know.”
He poked you on the cheek. “Alright then. If that’s what makes you happy, I won’t stand in your way. You have my blessing.” His teeth clenched then. “But I’m still going to have to talk to him man to man in case he thinks he’s off the hook.”
“Worry about your wedding first,” you jibed.
“I almost forgot about that.”
“I’m telling Iori.”
He shook his head, feigning panic. “Don’t.”
You both ended up laughing, joking about the guests who were arriving at the garden, poking fun at the relatives you both detested but had no choice but to invite. Just like that, you were back to how it used to be, easily conversing and sharing the same sentiments about things and same penchant for devilry.
Soon, the organizer came to his room, informing him that he needed to go to the garden to prepare. You reached up and fixed his tie and jacket for him, holding him at arm’s length to appreciate your handiwork. “You’re all set.”
“Thank you.” He smiled wide but you saw the nervousness in his eyes. “I’m getting married!”
“You are.”
“I’m more anxious about seeing Kento after what you told me,” he stated dramatically.
You eyed him witheringly. “Shut up and pull yourself together.”
He snickered then. “Kidding. Let’s go.”
“Okay.”
The two of you walk to the garden, your arm around his. He stood at the spot just by the last row of seats with you, grinning at you when he saw you looking at Nanami who was already dutifully standing on his spot, speaking to Geto.
“Concentrate on your vows, yeah?” you told your brother.
“I’m off.”
“In case we don’t get to talk before you leave for your honeymoon,” you began, “Just know that I am waiting for the speedy arrival of my nieces and nephews.”
Gojo laughed at that, but nodded anyway and said, “I’ll do a good job, I promise.”
“And Satoru?”
“Yeah?”
“Love you.”
“I know, kid. I know.” He turned on his heels and walked towards his place at the front pews while you watched, his steps leading you towards the very man you would want to see standing there when the time comes, his halo of golden locks bright under the setting sun but you knew your future with him would be even more brilliant.
**
The familiar bars of Johann Pachelbel’s “Canon” began to play in a modified, slowed-down wedding version made especially for Gojo and Utahime’s wedding, played on the harp, piano and violin, cueing the beginning to the entrance of the bridal entourage. It began with the entrance of the flower girls who scattered petals of different flowers on the white carpet that lined the long aisle.
Arches and bouquets of flowers festooned the garden, with gossamer cloth hanging about, interlaced with live wisteria that hung down from the canopy along with fairy lights that progressively turned on as the sky grew darker. White and pink dominated the color palette as Utahime had wished and the same goes for the reception area. It was probably one of the most beautiful wedding setups Nanami has ever seen.
But his eyes weren’t on the ornaments. They were trained on the end of the walled garden, waiting for your ascent on the marble steps where the white carpet extended, the march made more dramatic by the organizers by opting for a meandering aisle instead of the traditional, straight walkway for the bride. And it did achieve the desired effect when you finally emerged from the steps and into view.
He couldn’t help the smile that tugged at his lips upon finally seeing you clad in that familiar faded rose gown he had first seen being fitted on you to perfection. He kissed you while you wore that very article of clothing not long ago at the couturier’s shop, and though he thought back then that he has never seen anything more beautiful, he was amazed at the fact that you looked even more gorgeous in it as you glided towards the front.
He loved you so much it hurts, and although you’ve both professed your deep affections for one another and decided to take things head on together, he still felt like he was in the middle of a dream he didn’t want to wake up from. You came closer, and once more, he was back at the semi-outdoor ballroom the first day he came that week, beholding the goddess that was you but seemingly in a different light – brighter this time, overwhelming him to the point that he had to remind himself how to breathe when you finally looked his way and beamed unabashedly, your affections towards him unmasked, real and not under the guise of a game.
“Kento,” he heard Gojo say softly just then, the man’s blue eyes furtively glancing at him.
“Yes?” he answered in hushed tones.
“Hurt my baby sister and I’ll have your severed head hung by the gates of the estate,” he said. “Are we clear about that?”
Geto snickered, concealing it by facing the other way.
“Understood,” Nanami said seriously. “I’m counting on it.”
When you were near enough, you smiled at your brother and Geto before turning your attention to Nanami. You winked at him as you passed by before turning towards your spot opposite them across the aisle, your attention trained towards the point where you came from.
He couldn’t stop looking at you, not even when he felt Gojo hold onto his arm, squeezing tight as Utahime came into view. He didn’t mean to be insulting to his friends. She was beautiful in her wedding gown and he couldn’t help but be moved by the loving look that your brother had on his face as he watched his wife-to-be come closer, guided by her father who will give her away as the sun set. It was poetic. A new beginning after a beautiful end. He probably looked the same whenever his eyes would find you.
The ceremony carried on as everyone sat down, waiting for the couple to exchange their ‘I do’s.’ their vows, rings and the much-awaited kiss. It was making him emotional, thinking of the time when he himself would draw your veil and get to claim you as his for life in front of everyone you both loved and cared about. He couldn’t wait for it, and he may be getting ahead of himself, but he wanted what Gojo and Utahime had with you.
As the minister announced the pair man and wife, everyone applauded and cheered for them. He did so, too, chuckling when Geto whistled loudly, being his cheeky self. Just then, he nudged Nanami on the side, grinning impudently.
“Is it safe to assume you’re next?” he queried in the same manner.
Nanami rolled his eyes, shaking his head. “Who knows? Someone might actually steal your heart in the next months and we’ll be seeing you crying as you watch your bride walk towards you by next year.”
Geto snickered at that. “Yeah, right. You looked like you wanted to jump Y/N and replace Satoru and Iori at the altar all this time.”
“Who wants to replace my brother and sister-in-law at the altar?” they heard you say, appearing out of nowhere, your head tilted to the side as you shifted your blue orbs between the two males, but before either of them could answer, you linked your arm with Nanami who smiled down at you blissfully. You returned the gesture, your cheeks blushing prettily under the twinkling lights overhead.
“I see you’ve figured things out.” Geto smirked, patting Nanami on the back just as Shoko came into view, taking the former by the arm, claiming she needed a smoke. She pulled him away, leaving you and Nanami to yourselves, winking as they walked away.
“So, you told him?” you asked, cocking your head towards the wide lawn where the pergolas were, built on three sides of the square and closed by an elevated area for the band, all surrounding a dance floor under a huge, white tent above, also adorned with thousands of lights. It was your design, solely for the wedding reception and a form of gift to the newlyweds.
“Satoru did indirectly when he said he’ll have my head hung at the gates of Gojo Manor if I hurt you.” He shook his head, laughing slightly. “Bastard had the gall to laugh at me, too.”
“He nearly cried when I told him earlier,” you said, regaling him with how your conversation with Gojo went. “He trusts you and is actually afraid I’ll hurt you, too.”
He shook his head. “It’s all part of the process, isn’t it?”
“Mhmm.”
“We’ll take it head on.” He held your hand, twining your fingers together.
You nodded, squeezing his larger hand. “We will.”
Just then, your friends emerged from the reception area with Noabara taking the lead, mischief drawn all over her face as she approached you. “I took care of the sitting arrangement,” she said to you then turned to Nanami. “Take care of Y/N. Make her cry and –”
“You’ll have my head?” Nanami supplemented but Nobara shook her head. “I’ll tan your hide. Satoru gets your head apparently.”
At that, Nanami laughed, nodding nonetheless. But to your surprise, she also turned her attention to you, holding you by the shoulders. “Are you still playing?”
“Nope.” You pressed your lips together, shaking your head slowly.
She smiled then. “Good.” She glanced at Nanami. “You’ve got you a good one here.”
“I know.”
They left you alone after that much to his relief, but then you said, “Wanna play a game?”
His eyes rounded and he felt tension again once he heard you say those familiar words, always the preamble to every single mischievous stunt you’ve ever pulled on everyone including him. He paused and looked at you. “I thought no more games?”
You smirked at him. “One more won’t hurt.”
He sighed, giving in. “You’re going to be the death of me, I swear to god.”
“So, are you in?”
“When did I ever say no to you?”
You giggled. “Great.”
“What is it about this time?” he asked, indulging you.
“Whoever gets a rise out of Satoru first wins.”
“The stakes?”
You just winked suggestively at him.
**
You forfeited. For the first time, you lost in your own game. It counted – albeit momentary – because you initiated the game…said the very words that began everything that paved the way to the result you’ve always wanted. But you did not really consider it a loss when for the long run, you’ve gained the very person you’d always gladly lose to at any given time.
After you father offered a toast for the newlyweds, the speeches began, starting with Utahime’s parents then yours, eventually moving on to you, then the bride and groom’s shared close friends. Geto had been rather irreverent as usual, pointing out the things that both Gojo and Utahime supposedly disliked from one another yet brought them closer, making everyone laugh when Shoko came up the stage and began her speech, saying, “Opposites do attract.”
You sat on your table with Nanami, both of you waiting for your turns. He was next in line after Shoko, smirking at you as he stood up and walked towards the platform and began his piece by congratulating Gojo, “for landing a very gracious woman who has the most enduring patience I have ever known in all mankind, given the grief that Ieiri, Suguru and I had to endure before Iori came to his life.”
He continued on with his witty address, pretty much reflecting what Suguru said and entertaining the crowd enough when he started to express his gratitude. “While I know that this changes nothing between us as the best of friends – including your nature that tested one’s forbearance – I would like to say thank you for many things. Thank you because you are, well, you…” He did a dramatic eye roll.
The guests laughed.
“Thank you because you are a real person who offered friendship to quiet, boring old me,” he said, droning on about the things he appreciated about the couple before saying the things he was thankful to Gojo about. “And thank you, because without you, without our friendship, I wouldn’t have met the very person I also want to walk this earth with for the rest of my life.”
You would have fallen off your seat when Megumi playfully nudged you if it weren’t for Yuuji who also held onto your shoulders from behind your seat, shaking you excitedly.
“If it weren’t for one Gojo Satoru, I wouldn’t have met Y/N.”
You felt all eyes turn towards you, including your parents and your brother, heat suffusing your cheeks as you tried hard to keep yourself from smiling like an idiot for everyone to see. Nanami has outdone you this time, and you knew you didn’t have a chance to go against that when he had so publicly expressed how he felt about you.
“I love her with everything that I am,” he continued, “and I will continue to do so even without your threat to behead me.” He raised his glass. “To Iori and Satoru. May you have the happiest, most prosperous married life from today and for always.”
Geto whistled loudly while the guests applauded. You also stood up, clapping your hands slowly as you shook your head. You’ve lost big time, backed by the fact that your brother stood up raising his glass as he said, “I couldn’t have wished for a better future brother-in-law.” He then looked at you, smiling fondly.
Nanami got Gojo to state his approval for everyone to hear. You can’t win against that even if you nearly made the latter cry.
And now, you were just happy to be in Nanami’s arms as he swayed you both to the tune the jazz band was playing, your arms hanging around his shoulders and your fingers playing with the hair at the base of his head while he held you against him by the waist.
“So?” Nanami began. “How’s that for a final game?”
“Not bad,” you acceded, smirking at him. “I’ll admit defeat.”
“Damn right, you are.” He smiled down at you, his dark eyes reflecting the muted, xanthic lights that surrounded you. “I have a couple of things I’d want you to do for me, by the way.”
You nodded slowly, keeping a straight face at the mention of his prize. “Rules are rules.”
His brows furrowed slightly. “Then again, you haven’t told me what you wanted when you won a week ago.”
You grinned, burying your face on his chest, listening to the faint sound of his heart. “But I did get what I want.”
“And that is?”
You met his gaze from under your lashes. “You,” you stated in full confidence.
Nanami nodded, suppressing a smile. “If you say so.”
“I wouldn’t wish for anything else.” You pulled him towards you so you could peck him on the mouth. “Thank you.”
“I don’t know what for, but as always, anything for you.”
You chuckled at that. Knowing him, he’ll make good on his words for sure, so much so that you didn’t feel the least bit of worry where your future with him was concerned. “You have to learn how to say no to me.”
“I guess, but since I won, have I finally made it to the list of people you don’t mess with?” he asked.
“As promised, yes.”
“No more games?”
“No more games,” you repeated. “Although I have to say it keeps things interesting between us. Don’t you think so?”
You both dissolved in laughter, the merry mingling of your voices coming to a standstill when he bent down and cupped your cheeks, running his thumb over your cheek before staking his claim on your lips while you returned the gesture in kind, locked in each other’s arms, glad you both played the game. And won.
-THE END-
I would like to say thank you to everyone who read this and kept up with my erratic updating. It's been a good 6 weeks. Thanks!
*I used “you” here, but since my character is Gojo’s little sister who is established to be his female clone for reasons essential to the plot, she possesses the same blue eyes and white hair. I did not exactly want to create an OC (although technically, I did by describing Y/N), but I opted for the best of both worlds in this fic, leaning more towards the literary aspect of it as opposed to it just being reader/you-oriented. I hope this isn’t iffy to anyone, and yeah, i’m not being exclusive or whatever.
Thank you so much for reading. Likes, comments and reblogs are deeply appreciated! Hope you enjoyed it.

IDOLiSH7 5th Anniversary Special Story: Opening Doors...
Chapter 6: A Day Of Celebration
Chapter 1 | Chapter 2 | Chapter 3 | Chapter 4 | Chapter 5
Yamato Nikaido: Mm! It's so tender!
Haruka Isumi: It's so sweet and yummy!
Tenn Kujo: Now this is a flavor that'll wake you up in the morning.
Fisher: Thank you! Have some more!
Haruka Isumi: Chow time!
Iori Izumi: Does everyone around here eat the Dancing Lobster?
Fisher: We love it here! You only get to eat it once a year, so everyone has some when it's available!
Yamato Nikaido: It really is like an idol, then.
Fisher: Haha, at least around these parts. City folk and young people don't much know about it.
Haruka Isumi: It'd be selfish to keep this all to ourselves, then.
Fisher: Shellfish? You want to eat shellfish next?
Tenn Kujo: Hehe, he said "selfish". In other words, we should help make it popular.
Tenn Kujo: Just like lots of ordinary people helped us become popular.
Fisher: My whole family loves you boys! Both IDOLiSH7 and TRIGGER!
Haruka Isumi: What about ŹOOĻ?
Fisher: We love you too, of course!
Haruka Isumi: Ahaha! Do you really!?
Yamato Nikaido: It's weird. Before our meeting the other day, I didn't even know the name of this place.
Yamato Nikaido: Finding out about a place this nice makes you wanna tell more people about it.
Iori Izumi: Right. It makes you want to share.
Yamato Nikaido: Share?
Iori Izumi: Yes. This moment and this excitement.
Iori Izumi: All the great things that fill your heart, whether they're delicious or beautiful...
Iori Izumi: I'm sure wanting to share them with someone is something we can all relate to.
Tenn Kujo: I think I get what you mean. That's also why we don't sing alone.
Tenn Kujo: You don't want to keep amazing experiences and emotions to yourself.
Tenn Kujo: You want other people to know. And telling people how delicious this harbour's Dancing Lobster was is a part of that, too.
Fisher: Or that famous idols came to eat here.
Tenn Kujo: Hehe, that's right. People want to bond over things that make them happy.
Yamato Nikaido: I think we do bond over it. Our members... And even the fans who aren't with us on stage.
Haruka Isumi: ......... Even when things go bad, and you're all separated?
Iori Izumi: Of course.
Iori Izumi: Because even in a blinding darkness, their hearts are with us.

Tamaki Yotsuba: This egg rice is so yummy~!
Toma Inumaru: So are the boiled eggs!
Ryunosuke Tsunashi: The omelette's great, too! These eggs are really something! No wonder they're called "Dearest Eggs"!
Mitsuki Izumi: Yeah, seriously! Not only do they taste good, the colors are also nice and the yolk is soft. No wonder they're popular!
Poultry Farmer: Thank you!
Mitsuki Izumi: What's the secret to their flavor?
Poultry Farmer: Well... Just like you sang a song for the chickens...
Poultry Farmer: We take the time to give them lots of love.
Poultry Farmer: It naturally makes them into the kinds of tasty eggs everyone will love.
Toma Inumaru: You mean something that gets love will turn even more lovable?
Poultry Farmer: That's right. Hehe... Though I'm embarrassed to say that.
Mitsuki Izumi: Ahaha! Don't be! I think it's really nice.
Mitsuki Izumi: If we idols do our best to sing with lots of love...
Mitsuki Izumi: And that makes our fans get more love too, then that makes us happy!
Ryunosuke Tsunashi: Yeah, really happy. It's fun... and I'm sure it works both ways.
Tamaki Yotsuba: Both ways?
Ryunosuke Tsunashi: At first, being around two guys as amazing as Gaku and Tenn made me shrink back...
Ryunosuke Tsunashi: But being loved by my fans, my teammates, and agency gave me a lot of self-confidence.
Ryunosuke Tsunashi: It's great to be loved. It's great when people care about you. It gives you strength beyond what you could achieve by yourself.
Tamaki Yotsuba: I get what you mean. I used to be kinda like a regular egg.
Tamaki Yotsuba: A regular, tall egg that could kinda dance and had a bad attitude. And that was always late and forgetting stuff.
Mitsuki Izumi: Ahaha! You sure were.
Mitsuki Izumi: But you've changed, Tamaki.
Tamaki Yotsuba: Haha... Yeah. I guess that's what happens when people care about you. And your friends tell you you did a good job.
Tamaki Yotsuba: You grow really tall, just like that.  And you become a super yummy egg. It's so weird.
Toma Inumaru: Sure is... But it makes you wanna care for people, too. Like your teammates and friends.
Toma Inumaru: So they won't hate you ever again, and so you can keep moving on.
Toma Inumaru: Because you're loved and cared for, you know you'll be fine no matter what.
Toma Inumaru: At least, that's what I'd like to think.
Mitsuki Izumi: ...Right...
Tamaki Yotsuba: Ahaha! Mikki, you sound like you're gonna cry!
Mitsuki Izumi: Shut up! You know I'm weak to this kinda stuff!
Ryunosuke Tsunashi: Ahaha! ...I feel you...
Toma Inumaru: Not you too, Tsunashi-san...
Poultry Farmer: Thank you, boys. That was moving beyond words, and...
Poultry Farmer: I hope you'll continue to be loved like our eggs, as the idol world's Dearest Idols.
Mitsuki Izumi: ...Mister, you went and said the coolest thing out of all of us!
Tamaki Yotsuba: Misteeer!
Poultry Farmer: Hehe...

Nagi Rokuya: OH! Our radiant rice is delicious!
Momo: It sure is the Radiant 16! Each grain has a different texture, so just chewing on them is fun!
Torao Mido: And it feels healthy, too.
Sogo Osaka: What goal did you have when making this blend?
Rice Mill Owner: I want the people who eat it to lead healthy,  bustling, and radiant lives.
Momo: That's so normal! Well, maybe not normal, but it does seem like you're taking it really seriously.
Rice Mill Owner: Hehe.
Torao Mido: Hence the name?
Rice Mill Owner: Yep. My parents are rice farmers, but I used to not like rice.
Rice Mill Owner: But I still ate millet rice, since it's healthy and full of nutrients. That's how I realized this was my calling.
Momo: You totally looked like a westerner to me, but your parents farm rice?
Rice Mill Owner: Hehe.
Momo: You say you didn't like rice, so how did your parents react to that?
Rice Mill Owner: Not well. They said just plain rice is good enough, and that they worked so hard to cook it for me.
Rice Mill Owner: But I couldn't help it. I wasn't my parents. And this idea is something I worked hard for. I wanted them to acknowledge that.
Sogo Osaka: ...What about now? Do they acknowledge it?
Rice Mill Owner: Yeah. Since I'm making money, heh.
Torao Mido: So it's because you had the results to show for it.
Nagi Rokuya: OH! Then do you not also lead a radiant life?
Rice Mill Owner: Oh, good point.
Nagi Rokuya: Happiness is what matters most.
Nagi Rokuya: Our happiness, our families' happiness, our friends' happiness...
Nagi Rokuya: To me, that is the most important message to remember in my life, and in the eyes of God.
Sogo Osaka: Right... My work makes me happy. So I think I lead a radiant life, too.
Torao Mido: Hmm...
Sogo Osaka: Haha... I never thought I'd say that about myself.
Sogo Osaka: I've been hurt a lot, and I'll probably be hurt in the future, but I'm sure that my life is bright.
Sogo Osaka: I'll shine to make up for the hurt. That's how I want to live out my life.
Torao Mido: That doesn't really make sense to me. If you hadn't done anything at all, your life could've been radiant enough as it was.
Sogo Osaka: .........
Torao Mido: But you look happier now than when I used to see you surrounded by all that luxury.
Sogo Osaka: Mido-san...
Rice Mill Owner: Good for you, Sogo.
Momo: You sure are a friendly guy, huh!?
Rice Mill Owner: Make sure to promote the Radiant 16-Grain for me, Momo-chan.
Momo: Sure thing! And since you're so tall, I want you to join my soccer team!
Rice Mill Owner: Gotcha.
Nagi Rokuya: Would you like to visit Northmare?
Rice Mill Owner: Sure.
Sogo Osaka: He's so friendly...

Gaku Yaotome: I did it! I got the biggest General's Edamame!
Minami Natsume: Oh dear. You did very well, Yaotome-san.
Riku Nanase: Ah, but this means we have to give him his phone back.
Yuki: Can't we have just ten percent of it?
Gaku Yaotome: No! How would you give someone ten percent of a phone, anyway?
Riku Nanase: By cutting out one corner?
Gaku Yaotome: Don't try to break it! Ah, gramps, check this out!
Farmer: Now that's a big General's Edamame. This year's harvest has turned out great.
Gaku Yaotome: Is this bigger than normal?
Farmer: It is.
Gaku Yaotome: Hehe!
Farmer: But I think this vividly bright one will be more fresh and delicious.
Minami Natsume: Oh. That's nice to hear.
Riku Nanase: Mine is more firm than all the others! There's so many different ways edamame can turn out!
Yuki: Mine's on the softer side. The softer the tastier, right, mister?
Farmer: You won't know unless you have a taste.
Yuki: I appreciate the honesty.
Riku Nanase: Why did you decide to call them the General's Edamame?
Farmer: Edamame are unripe soybeans.
Farmer: We wanted to express the fact that even a greenhorn can become a great general!
Minami Natsume: Unripe... I like the sound of that word. It's full of potential.
Riku Nanase: ŹOOĻ's the least experienced group out of all of us, after all!
Yuki: What about IDOLiSH7? Have you ripened up yet?
Riku Nanase: Have we? I'm not sure...
Riku Nanase: I feel like we're going to keep changing from here, but I want to stay the way we are right now, too.
Riku Nanase: The seven of us have been through a lot, but we overcame it together...
Riku Nanase: I want to believe that we can keep going just the way we are now.
Riku Nanase: What about TRIGGER?
Gaku Yaotome: Well...
Gaku Yaotome: I don't wanna say that this is as far as we'll go. But I don't wanna say we're still not good enough, when we're already entertaining fans on stage.
Gaku Yaotome: I wanna be perfect in the moment. It doesn't matter if we're broken and flawed after that.
Yuki: And sometimes it's good to break your old selves to discover something new.
Yuki: Like the beans. They're unripe, but they can still be generals.
Gaku Yaotome: Right!
Minami Natsume: ........
Riku Nanase: What's wrong, Natsume-san?
Minami Natsume: I just   thought of something...
Riku Nanase: What?
Minami Natsume: What are books in the military called?
Gaku Yaotome: Huh?
Minami Natsume: General knowledge.
Riku & Gaku: ........?
Minami Natsume: It's a pun.
Yuki: ...Pfft, haha..!
Gaku Yaotome: Yuki-san, your face..!
Riku Nanase: Aah! General knowledge, as in military general!
Minami Natsume: Yes. In any case, we should all take pride in our unripeness...
Gaku Yaotome: Hold on! Can't you give a warning before getting back to the serious stuff!?
Riku Nanase: Hey!
Gaku Yaotome: What's up, Nanase?
Riku Nanase: We're getting serious again!
Gaku Yaotome: You don't gotta narrate everything!
Riku Nanase: Huh!? But you just said...
Yuki: ...Ahahaha..!
Gaku Yaotome: Yuki-san..! You're gonna make Momo-san cry at this rate!!!
Riku Nanase: Ah..! He did mention breaking himself..!
Gaku Yaotome: Doesn't mean he has to break his face, too...

Re:vale: Shining Rainbow Kitchen!
TRIGGER: It's been five years since your first broadcast!
IDOLiSH7: Congratulations!
ŹOOĻ: Happy 5th anniversary!
Momo: To celebrate, all 16 of us...
Tenn Kujo: Have created the idol bowl!
Riku Nanase: And we're about to cook it for you!
Haruka Isumi: Make sure to try it for yourselves, too!
- - - -
Sogo Osaka: We will add the freshly cooked Radiant 16-Grain rice into the bowls. Mido-san.
Torao Mido: It's hot... Will this much do?
Momo: I want a little more!
Nagi Rokuya: Millet rice is like an audience, shining with glowsticks!
Torao Mido: Audience complete!
Nagi Rokuya: Wow! How wonderful!
Sogo Osaka: It looks delicious!
Momo: What's an idol without fans, am I right!?
Ryunosuke Tsunashi: We'll be preparing the eggs, lobster, and edamame for cooking!
Mitsuki Izumi: Here's our eggs! Firm and fresh Dearest Eggs!
Tamaki Yotsuba: The eggs show off an idol's popularity!
Toma Inumaru: We sang to the chickens to make them lay healthy eggs!
Yamato Nikaido: This here's the Dancing Lobster!
Iori Izumi: It's so fresh that it was still squirming around a moment ago.
Tenn Kujo: It's a phantom that can only be eaten once a year.
Haruka Isumi: Uh, and it represents idols, who you usually only get to see on stage!
Riku Nanase: Finally, there's the General's Edamame!
Gaku Yaotome: They're chewy, big, and delicious!
Minami Natsume: They represent the idols who sometimes serve as backup dancers.
Yuki: Okay then. Can I put the edamame on the frying pan?
Ryunosuke Tsunashi: Yes!
Hiss! Crackle!
Riku Nanase: That's the sound of good food!
Tenn Kujo: It smells good, too.
Torao Mido: You're good at this, Ryunosuke.
Ryunosuke Tsunashi: That's because I love to cook! But Mitsuki-kun and Yuki-san are just as good.
Iori Izumi: Are the bowls all lined up?
Tamaki Yotsuba: Almost!
Ryunosuke Tsunashi: Ready?
Mitsuki Izumi: I'd say we're good to go.
Yuki: Why not?
Ryunosuke Tsunashi: It's done!
Momo: It's done! Let's put 'em in the bowls!
Riku Nanase: It's the idol bowl!
Nagi Rokuya: Perfect!
Haruka Isumi: Looks good!
Toma Inumaru: Looks great! And colorful!
Tamaki Yotsuba: Make this popular! I want it to be as popular as the Nia bowl!
Minami Natsume: It makes for a good lunch.
Yamato Nikaido: Sure. You guys wanna pack idol lunchboxes and go somewhere?
Mitsuki Izumi: It's supposed to be a bowl, not a lunchbox!
Sogo Osaka: Is everyone ready?
Iori Izumi: We are.
Tenn Kujo: Grab a bowl, guys. It's time for a taste test.
Momo: Taste test, taste test!
Minami Natsume: Incredible. All of us idols, standing with a bowl in hand.
Gaku Yaotome: Makes for a great picture!
Yamato Nikaido: Does it..?
Riku Nanase: Everyone, get in line! We'll all have a bite on the count of three!
Tenn Kujo: Before that, there's one thing we need to say.
Tenn Kujo: Happy 5th anniversary!
All: Happy anniversary!
Iori Izumi: I hope all of you at home will stay healthy, eat lots of great food, and continue supporting the show.
Riku Nanase: We don't know all the stuff that lies ahead for us, but good food is a crucial part of life!
Yamato Nikaido: Yep, we've got plenty of food-related memories ourselves!
Mitsuki Izumi: Like how we went from eating egg soba to eating tempura soba!
Nagi Rokuya: OH! It reminds me of when we were but the most basic of lunchboxes!
Sogo Osaka: And I came to like King Pudding.
Tamaki Yotsuba: And I got good at making hot milk!
Riku Nanase: And I started buying lots of snacks that come with toys!
Riku Nanase: I hope we all get to make many more memories together!
Riku Nanase: The idol bowl we made today will be one of them!
Riku Nanase: Shining Rainbow Kitchen!
Riku Nanase: Thank you so much for inviting us to your 5th anniversary celebration!
All: Thank you!
Riku Nanase: I hope this show will keep going for many more years to come!
Haruka Isumi: Try the idol bowl!
Yuki: And the Nia bowl.
Ryunosuke Tsunashi: And the Oly bowl!
Minami Natsume: Hee hee. And the skin bowl.
Riku Nanase: Let's start eating, everyone!
Tamaki Yotsuba: Let's, let's!
Tenn Kujo: Well then, here we go.
Riku & Tenn: One, two, three..!
All: Bon appétit!
The end.

LGBTQ Light Novel Review - Otherside Picnic Vol. 2
Tumblr media
I put off reviewing the second light novel in Iori Miyazawa’s horror science-fiction series, Otherside Picnic, on the sneaking suspicion that an anime adaptation would be announced. After seeing the short animated PV which released alongside Volume 4 in Japan and some suggestive Tweets by Shonen Gangan (the magazine where the manga adaptation is serialized), I was almost certain it was inevitable. Lo and behold, my suspicions were correct, and now we have an upcoming TV adaptation to look forward to directed by none other than Satou Takuya, perhaps the most qualified director for this series with his experience in sci-fi (Steins;Gate) AND Yuri (Kase-san and Morning Glories). But the real reason I am so excited for the anime is that if it is at least half as weird, exciting, and enjoyable as the light novels, it will be very, very good.
Otherside Picnic Volume 2 is split into four chapters, or “files,” each of which presents a new adventure for surly and callous protagonist Sorawo and her friend Toriko. As I mentioned in my review of Volume 1, these files make for excellent and exciting self-contained adventures, with each one featuring a new creature from internet lore. However, Miyazawa’s well-constructed world and gradually paced story are incredible. The characters and the readers learn more about the world in a steady and gradual progression that builds on previous experiences. It is a welcome feature of this series, especially when compared with so many other light novels which too often treat time, character growth (both ability and personality-wise), and the world like a taught rubber band launched forward with inaccurate speed only to miss its target and strike the reader in the face. This progression features in a variety of ways, from the small, an artifact, or encounter from a previous story being referenced, to the practical, like Toriko and Sorawo adding a new assault rifle and vehicle to their arsenal, to the plot defining, like the soldiers from Volume 1.
The four files in this second volume vary dramatically in tone and, unfortunately, quality. The first, “The Operation to Rescue the U.S. Forces at Kisaragi Station,” and the fourth, “Little Bird in a Box,” are the best of the volume. The former of these two sees Sorawo and Toriko join the military forces they found stranded in the other world in Volume 1. Together, they wage an epic battle against the mysterious and dangerous forces of the parallel world to get the soldiers out alive. Not only was this scene incredibly intense and well written, but it also helped readers learn more about Sorawo, and helped layer her as more than just a cold and curt girl as she first presented. These developments are also furthered in the volume’s final chapter, which expands Otherside Picnic’s world greatly, as DS, the mysterious organization which funds research on the other world, is revealed.
The light novel’s middle chapters are by no means terrible, but they are not as exciting or interesting as the ones mentioned above. One of them sees Sorawo and Toriko go on a bender across Japan and the other side, which sounds hilarious, but the effect is quickly lost as it drags on a bit longer than needed. It feels more like a missed opportunity to deepen the relationship between the two. However, the third chapter, “Attack of the Ninja Cats,” succeeds significantly on this front. While the name and monsters for this chapter are ridiculous, and honestly create too much of a contrasting tone from the rest of the book, it does introduce a new side-character, whose presence subtly reveals the dependency and even lust Sorawo has for Toriko. The story accomplished this feat without feeling like an unhealthy and annoying jealousy story either, which is a tremendous feat.
There were also a few inconsistencies that bugged me, primarily in Sorawo’s financial situation. She is simultaneously presented as a broke college student and someone with the cash to go on a bender at a resort and buy a tobacco farming vehicle, which is repurposed for expeditions into the other world. However, such details only stand out because the rest of the world is so consistent and detailed. Miyazawa has created such a beautiful and vibrant world filled with so much mystery. Yet, the story still always focuses on Sorawo and Toriko’s relationship and adventures.
Speaking of the girls and their relationship, Otherside Picnic still has minimal fan service or action between them. However, it is unmistakably Yuri. Sorawo has a deep longing and a strong bond with Toriko, which sometimes expresses itself physically, with Sorawo always noting the beauty of her companion or the two women holding hands while recovering from a nearly lethal encounter. However, the Yuri is primarily present in the realism of their relationship, their conversations, sensibilities, and groundedness, which stands in contrast to the fantastic, and occasionally horrific events, of the science fiction narrative. In sci-fi Yuri such stories are sometimes described as “hard Yuri,” thanks to that convoluted and philosophical bastard Gengen Kusano (Last and First Idol). The core of the idea is making the relationship between the fictional characters a reality, or at least basing it in realism. Whether that “realism” includes lesbian identity is yet to be seen, but Miyazawa does have a good track record in that department with Side-by-Side Dreamers. In short, this is a long-winded way of warning you not to run around shouting “queerbaiting!” just yet.
Otherside Picnic Volume 2 is a fantastic read, thanks in no small part to Sean McCann’s translation. The adventures are fun, thrilling, occasionally terrifying, but most of all, consistently engaging. This series will undoubtedly make a fantastic and bizarre anime, so I cannot wait for the adaptation. I recommend that you do not delay either, and you go pick up this brilliant work of sci-fi Yuri literature today.
Ratings: Story – 7 Characters – 8 LGBTQ – 3 Sexual Content – 0 Final – 7

Takari Week, Day 1 - Confession
Takeru has spent weeks trying to confess to Hikari but somehow he can never actually get it out.  Hikari has a different interpretation on how they’ve been spending their time.  Done as part of @takariweek 2020
Today was the day.  Today everything would change for better or for worse.  Today marked the first sentence of a new chapter of his life.  Today was the day he was going to confess to Hikari.
Unlike all those other sentences he had to re-write.
This was not the first day this month Takeru had planned to confess.  However, he was a romantic at heart, and no matter how much resolve he had beforehand somehow the moment never felt right.  He would always be able to tell their grandkids about how they met, but he wanted to be proud or the story of how he first asked her out.  And none of the opportunities so far fit his taste.
It was either that or he was afraid.
Even if his confession was successful, it would still mean a fundamental change would occur in his and Hikari’s relationship.  And Takeru had a mixed relationship with change. Change meant the loss of his father and brother.  Change meant the introduction of a strange world filled with monsters.  Even the first time Patamon had changed into a new form had led to one of the most traumatic events in his life.
But change also led him to meet Patamon in the first place, something he wouldn’t trade for all the riches in the world.  Change meant moving to the same school as Hikari, and meeting Miyako, Iori, Daisuke and Ken.  Change meant that one day society might accept Digimon as a whole.
And whether he liked it or not, change was coming.
It was still surreal to him; his brother and Taichi had always seemed so close.  They had never been part of the same cliques, and they spent almost as much time fighting as hanging out.  But their friendship always eclipsed everything else, social standings, heated disputes, none of it mattered; they were best friends, through and through.
Then college happened. Now the legendary duo’s primary means of communication was via their siblings.  Hikari would learn some new fact of her brother’s life, tell Takeru during the course of casual conversation, and Takeru would update his brother of the going-ons later that week.
It wasn’t just them.  Even Mimi, who had an incessant talent for attaching herself onto someone and refusing to let them go, seemed much further from the rest of the chosen then she’d even been while she lived in America.
Takeru knew their bond was strong, that what the eight of them had done could not be forgotten or replaced.  But even if distance could not destroy the bridge holding them together, it could certainly increase the hassle of travelling back and forth.
The last thing Takeru wanted was for that distance to appear between himself and Hikari.  This was their final year in highschool, if he didn’t at least try now he might not ever get the opportunity again.  He needed to try, despite the inherent risks.
Besides, Hikari had rejected Daisuke dozens of times, and they were still friends, right?
Gathering his courage, Takeru had asked Hikari if they could have a day to themselves, ‘just the two of them’.  He’d suggested Wednesday, when neither club duties nor pressing assignments devoured too significant portions of their time.
Ever the romantic, he had it all planned out: First, karaoke.  A good, private way to judge the mood, and get Hikari to let her hair down.  Next, they had tickets to a movie, the new Disney flick that Hikari had been dying to see but never gotten around to (and without someone pressing, likely would not until it became available on dvd.) Finally, a romantic stroll on the boardwalk at sunset.
The boardwalk overlooking the bay.
The bay where they fought Ordienmon.
The bay where they’d been forced to kill one of their friends.
It was only after beginning his long-rehearsed spiel that Takeru had this epiphany, and, fearful that his date may have been quicker on the uptake than himself, he scrambled for a plan B.
Salvation came in the form of a nearby cat café, he knew as soon as he suggested it that Hikari would lose herself in the felines, paying more attention to the four-legged critters than she did to him, but it was worth it to avert potential catastrophe.
Fate still deigned to mock him however, from the instant he sat down a maine-coon attached to him, refusing to move from his side, or to let the memories of past failures escape.
All cats attached to Hikari, she merely shared them with the other customers as she saw fit.  There was no doubt she enjoyed herself, but the moment had been well and truly ruined.
Takeru had managed to obtain an opportunity of redemption. ‘Same time next week’ had been the agreement, and he had near instantly resumed planning.  Whatever he came up this time had to top what he’d just done, or else he might have to explain away his mistake.
But even the most perfect plan does not survive contact with the enemy, and the enemy presented itself as an ill-timed phone call from his father.   One of his coworker’s households had apparently been graced by the appearance of a small white blob with a voracious appetite, and Hiroaki was wondering if his son could stop by after school and help calm the panicking mother, perhaps also giving tips for digital care.
Hikari would not allow him to say no, and insisted on tagging along.  But the TV station itself held a lot of painful memories for the girl, every year she returned with an offering of flowers and incense for Wizardmon’s grave.
It was far from a total waste since an idol Hikari had been following was also present.  Somehow the idol had overheard their arrival, and considered themselves interested in the pro-digimon cause.  In fact, the idol had been downright helpful, asking questions of him and Hikari that the coworker was likely to embarrassed or too naïve to think of.  Hiroaki ended up taking them all out for dinner, and they chatted for hours, finally assuaging the fear of a parent whose daughter now had a dog-head as a life partner.
By that point, he had to take Hikari home, with no real opportunity to confess, even if Wizardmon wasn’t on her mind.
The third attempt was a no go from the beginning, Hikari had been sent into a rare, foul state.  All she wanted to do was eat ice-cream and rant, so they went to a dairy-bar overlooking the beach.
He’d let her vent when she wanted to vent, and when she was done he did what he did best: deflecting the conversation to some odd antics of Daisuke or his brother, anything to get her happy and cheerful again. Even after her mood had recovered, steering the conversation towards a confession felt like he might be taking advantage of her, or putting her on the spot somehow.
Cheering her up was reward enough, even as he paid for the forty-flavor super-jumbo, bottomless Sunday that they’d managed to make a liar out of.
(He’d eaten perhaps an eighth of it, there was no doubt in his mind that Hikari could have eaten the whole thing; but she at least wanted the plausible deniability to claim that he’d consumed half the calories.)
The fourth attempt was similarly doomed, he’d been too sick for school that day, and while Hikari had dropped by, he was too delirious to form a real confession, or for her to take any confession seriously.
The feel of her hand stroking his hear as she tended to him had been so heavenly though.  He couldn’t regret the experience.
By this point Takeru was convinced their Wednesday gatherings were cursed.  There was little reason Hikari would even see them as special.  And while he always enjoyed spending time with her, especially just the two of them, he was worried that regularity may dampen the splendor he’d initially been going for.
This week he requested to move their weekly hang out session to Saturday.  It would allow more time for them to be out at night, and thus more time for him to enact his perfect confession.  Hikari’s father was away on business, and her mother had already agreed to be rather lax on her daughter’s curfew.
His mother had not, but she would not punish him if he told her he was out on his first date, nor would she punish him after getting rejected, yet another reason he needed to actually spit it out today.
And it seemed all the stars were aligning, on top of her father being out of town: a photography exhibition at a local gallery was going for half price, and her favorite indie group were headlining a public concert at the beach until sundown.  Finally, there was a forecast for a clear, bright moon, and a local botanical garden was advertising a moonlit stroll through their flowers.
Hikari had agreed on one condition: they could wade through the shallows, but not do any real swimming at the beach.  It had seemed odd to Takeru at first, but the beach had been more about the free concert than seeing her in her swimsuit.
***
When Takeru arrived at the Yagami apartment he was stunned by the vision of beauty that graced him.  Hikari was wearing a strapless dress, black with accents of pink and white, that he’d never seen her in before.   Based on how high her head was coming up his body, she had to be wearing quite daring heels as well.
And her makeup had been done with so much precision and effort he had to wonder if perhaps Mimi had come back to town to help her.
“T-Takeru?” she asked, and he realized he must have been staring.
“I’m sorry, have you seen Hikari?  Brown hair, about yea tall,” he held his hand about three feet off the floor, “may have a family of ducklings following her around.”
“That was one time.” She scolded.
Takeru stood on his tip toes and moved one hand to sit above his eyes, like a visor.  “Hikari? Is that you?  Are you trapped behind this radiant goddess in front of me?”
A tell-tale pink infiltrated her cheeks as she turned around.  “It’s too much isn’t it?  I could still maybe change and-”
His hand shot out and grabbed her arm before she could escape. “You look perfect.” He said sincerely, pulling her in for a hug. “Besides, people at the exhibit will be expecting beauty and art.  They just may not be expecting the source.”
“You’re just saying that.” She deflected.
He wasn’t.
Takeru was not the same connoisseur of photography Hikari was.  When push comes to shove, he wasn’t sure anyone was the same connoisseur of photography Hikari was.  That said, he enjoyed exhibits well enough.  He liked to look at the pictures, and soak them in.  Try and memorize every detail to regurgitate later.
Or occasionally, he would find a particular picture, and write a story in his head.  How had they gotten here, to this moment, what did picture mean to the squirrel which was the focus?  What was he doing immediately before?  How did this moment change his life?
Such joys eluded him today, instead his focus was solely on the brunette accompanying him.  The pictures only mattered in how they changed the expression on her face as she examined them.
After exiting the gallery, there was still about an hour before the band started playing at the beach, they stopped for a bite to eat, and Takeru did his best to fake his way though her questions on the exhibition.
What was his favorite photo?  He named one on the left wall of the one she stared at for ten minutes, that had framed her head the whole time.  Why?  He made up some impromptu story he’d concocted about the scenery involved.  It won him a laugh from her as he turned the questions around.
When they got to the beach, Hikari replaced her heels with flat sandals she kept in her purse.  Takeru noted that he at least recognized the heels this time, unlike her dress, but he’d still never seen her wear them before.
Despite her insistence they not swim, (something Takeru now realized had to do with the amount of time she’d spent on her makeup,) hikari had instantly dragged him towards the water, to wade in the shallows.  They didn’t go much more than ankle deep, anymore and they risked getting hikari’s dress and his shorts wet, but it had been romantic nonetheless.
When the main act began to play, they collected their shoes and moved towards the stage, communications dampening as the speakers drowned out all sounds but the band on stage.
Takeru didn’t need words, the sight of Hikari, framed by the sunset, losing herself in the moment was more than enough for him.
It was twilight when the band’s ‘second encore’ had concluded and the crowd began to peter out.   There was a small ice-cream sack on the beach, and Hikari rarely turned down an opportunity for more of the frozen delight.
They talked about the concert, the waves on the beach, of everything and nothing all at once, until the residual light from the sun faded and the moon came in full force.  In the city like this, there was always a glow of artificial light, but it did not diminish Tsukuyomi’s splendor.
Meandering towards the botanical gardens, continuing their chatter about daily life.  Just outside Hikari stopped him, finding a bench to switch back from flats to heels, insisting it was more ‘proper’.  Takeru didn’t let her get away unscathed, suggesting that if she wanted to feel taller, stilts would be more appropriate.  She responded by playfully warning him that he may ‘wake up one day, two feet shorter’.
Neither comment had nearly as much effect as when the woman at the counter remarked on ‘What a beautiful date this would make’ and how she ‘wished her boyfriend had been so romantic at that age.’
Hikari’s face could be mistaken for a tomato, and Takeru adopted an uncharacteristic stutter as he paid their admission and ushered Hikari outside.
The woman’s words had a chilling effect, the natural conversation had all but dried up, replaced with subtle pleasantries and tepid remarks about the moonlit flowers.  Before long Hikari had her camera out, taking pictures of the various plant life, abandoning most conversation all together.
Was this it, had such a small, well-meaning action already cursed him?  Everything was going so well.  Was he a modern Sysphus?  Doomed to forever push himself up the hill of a relationship with Hikari only to fall down at the pinnacle and start all over?
“Takeru?” Hikari asked, snapping him out of his monologue, “Are you okay?”
“Fine.” Takeru replied “Just thinking.”
She grabbed his arm, pulling him towards a nearby bench. “Come on, let’s take a break, these shoes are killing me.”
“The price of fashion.” Takeru said sagely.
After they reached the bench, and Hikari had relieved herself of her footwear, they paused, focusing on some hydrangeas flow in the wind, accented by moon light.  A weight appeared on Takeru’s shoulder, where Hikari began to rest her head.
“Right now.” She said “This moment just feels so…perfect.”
Takeru took a deep breath.  He had the most wonderful girl on his arm, after spending nearly eight hours with her. “Yeah, perfect.”
A perfect moment.
It was unlikely a better opportunity would present itself.
“Hikari.” He said suddenly, just as she chimed in with his name. “Sorry,” they said in unison.
Her head pulled off his arm, quite disappointingly in his opinion, as she turned to face him.
“Ladies first.” Takeru said “I insist.”  She gave him a soft look, knowing that he wouldn’t let her win this one.
“Okay.” She started “This last month, has just been so wonderful, so amazing.  I know I’m not the most experienced with this, and I know we haven’t really put a name on it, but it’s still been like something out of a novel.  I guess I should expect that from you.”
She had begun to look down, rummaging through her purse, as takeru tried to sort out exactly what she was talking about.  Had it already been a month since they started these ‘friend-dates?’
Hikari continued obliviously, “It’s not much, especially since you seem to do all the planning, but I thought you’d like it.” She pulled out a tightly-wrapped box. “Happy  one-month anniversary.”
Ani-what?
Dates rolled back in his head as he began to piece things together; the dress, the makeup, the heels, those were all for him?  Had she always been considering these less friend-dates and more dates-dates?
And he, in a move of pure coincidence, had moved this week’s date to Saturday, one month to the day of that first date, and even asked her mother for permission to stay out late.
Takeru did the only thing he could think of in the moment.
He laughed.
“Tak-Takeru?” she asked, and he could already sense fear and hesitation begin to well up within her as she saw her (boyfriend?) laugh at her anniversary gift.  He grabbed her and pulled her into a hug to dissuade any doubts.
“Happy anniversary,” he said when his hysterics died down.  “One month, I’ve been trying to confess for a month, and you hit me with that.”
“Wait, confess?” Hiakri said, begging a laugh of his own that quickly spread to Takeru.  “All this time and you didn’t even think we were dating?  You completely stopped flirting with everyone else.  Did you really think I didn’t…”
“We’re quite the pair, aren’t we?” Takeru teased in response.
“Yeah,” Hikari agreed. “Well, if you finally managed to confess after all that, maybe I can do something I’ve been too scared to do for the last month.”
Takeru looked down at her, “What would that be?” he asked leaning in close.
“This.” She pressed her lips against his.

Rolling With the Punches
I have a lot of silly ideas for weird shit Toshinori has to deal with as a Pro Hero. Here’s the first chapter:
It’s been three months since Furakawa Aki’s daughter has manifested her Quirk, but this is the first, and hopefully, only, time that it merits national attention.
The family has just left the movie theater, blinking in the sunlight, when an explosion knocks all three and numerous other bystanders off their feet. A trio of villains rushes from around the corner, one throwing his arm back and launching some sort of grenade at the heroes that are no doubt giving chase. Another one of the thugs has a telekinesis Quirk of some kind, psychically knocking pedestrians out of the way while the third launches himself over their heads and leaves a crater where he lands in the pavement.
All this happens in mere seconds; Aki, still dazzled by the sun and reeling in the sudden excitement, screams, frantically looking for Iori and Kazumi, but only finds frightened people and rubble. A shout from behind reveals itself to be Kazumi, one of the victims of the telekinesis Quirk, scrabbling over the ruined pavement.
There’s blood on the ground and Aki isn’t sure whose it is, but only prays that it doesn’t belong to Iori.
A shadow passes over the sun, and a boisterous laugh rings out. The relief that passes over the hysterical crowd is tangible as All Might descends into the fray and makes short work of the trio with two well-timed punches while the third simply puts his hands up and accepts the inevitable.
“Mommy!”
It is at this point that Iori pokes her head out from around a rather large piece of rubble that has landed near the theater. All Might turns, and her eyes widen at the sight of the Number One Hero, who kneels and extends an open hand to the little girl staring up at him in awe.
“Hello, little one! What’s your name?”
Iori leaves the relative safety of the boulder and runs to All Might. She jumps into his arms as soon as she’s close enough and All Might laughs, lifting the girl in his arms as she hugs his neck.
“I’m Iori!”
Which is when her Quirk activates and All Might… changes.
Little Iori is two weeks away from four years old, and is excited about her new power, even if she doesn’t quite understand it yet. Aki knows zie is going to have a difficult time in the near future, trying to explain the nuances of gender and what it means to be able to change it, and is thankful to have a very supportive wife (currently a husband) to help navigate strange waters. Iori has defintely inherited this from her parents; Aki able to change sex at will, and Kazumi, able to alter her (his) own appearance once a day. The Quirks merged together in Iori, who can change the sex of anyone except for herself.
Who has just turned the Number One Hero into a woman.
All Might looks shocked for a moment, smile faltering, but quickly grins even wider than before, bouncing the little girl in his (her) arms.
“Oh, I can’t wait to see that fanart for this one.”
Aki can’t tell if he sounds amused or exasperated.
TexasSmashMe I didn't think All Might's suit could get any tighter, but boy was I wrong.
placeholder-Name ffs, all might is prettier than me how is that even fair you fucking gorgeous man - er woman?
834YH LADY MIGHT LADY MIGHT LADY MIGHT LADY MIGHT LADY
Hannikyute All Might is a gift from God and today I have been Blessed.
Iori doesn't have any control of her Quirk yet, so changing back is simply going to be a waiting game. Aki and Kazumi apologize profusely, assuring the Number One Hero that the change has never lasted more than a week for them. He laughs - it's still undeniably All Might's laugh, deep from the stomach but lighter in timbre. He can still feel the thrum of One for All in his veins, the buzz of energy just below his skin, and makes an appointment to have a new suit made, thankful for synthetic polymer.
He’s not as top-heavy as he might have feared, which probably shouldn’t surprise him given the size of his pectoral muscles. His proportions have mostly remained the same, but lither, sleeker, curves instead of angles. He books a second appointment with his tailor.
W0nd85 Lady Might out here stopping crime and Looking Fine
LiberateAutumn I feel sorry for any villains who thought All Might was going to take a break to deal with his sudden gender reversal and instead got punched into a sexual awakening.
He’s a little upset when the Quirk wears off a couple days early; the evening dress his tailor whipped up was a work of art, sleek lines in his colors, with a belted waist for his signature buckle. He was rather looking forward to wearing it tonight. The dress still gets wolf whistles from the live audience sitting in on the talk show while the host’s eyes glitter with amusement as the slideshow ends.
“So tell us - having been on both sides now - would you say it's more difficult, being a female hero?"
“It’s true that female heroes are held to a higher standard than men when it comes to appearance. However," All Might waves a hand. "I did not feel that pressure myself in the last week, the reasons for which I suspect are twofold.” He holds up a finger.
“One, it was known that this was a temporary thing. It was the result of an accident that would fade, given enough time. However, I don’t believe this was the main reason.”
The host takes the bait.
“And, what was the main reason?”
All Might knits his hands together, folding them over his knee.
“Because I am already a sex symbol.”
The host and audience laugh, though All Might keeps the same expression, waiting for the chortles of the crowd to peter off.
“I’ve seen the fanart - ” someone in the audience whistles, “and I’m well aware of how fans perceive me. I accept that it’s par for the course in this line of work, but it doesn’t hurt to remind fans that there are people at the other end of your fantasies.” He levels a glare into the camera.
"My colleagues in the field are amazing - they are strong, resourceful, brave, intelligent, and yes, beautiful. There's only one woman in the Top Ten right now, and it isn't because the ladies aren't working hard enough."
                                                                                                                    MirukoBunnieHop
All Might is a GENTLEMAN and a FINE MAN who RESPECTS WOMEN and can step on me anytime
blue-green-yellow
how can someone be this perfect
Vainiti3s
He's making some great points about gender and social expectation, but all I can feel is disappointment that we never got to see All Might in high heels.

The Lyricist and The Hobi - BTS Fanfic - Chapter 1
I’m bored in lock down so I came back to post a new fic to keep me sane. It’s fluff between an OC from Scandal In The Spotlight falls for J-Hope from BTS.
Three whole years of practise came down to this one game, one game during their time at this week and a half long special event. Her honour was at stake. So were the rest of the boys’, but theirs didn’t matter, not to her anyway. All that mattered to her at that moment in time was winning this round. If she won this round, she won the whole game. And winning the whole game meant she was not spending anything on dinner that night. She gently rocked herself forwards and backwards on her feet, then bounced from one foot to the other to prepare herself as she stood in the lift, heading down to the lobby. The text came through in the chat from Iori, the great princely prince idol in the J-Pop group she was a lyricist for,  a minute or two ago, telling her simply ‘Lemony Snicket is in play’. She smirked as she pocketed her phone, but keeping her hand wrapped around it as she began her descent.
When the doors pinged open, her eyes roamed around the lobby, spotting the many different K-Pop and J-Pop idols that were now arriving. Black Pink were currently making their way through the main doors, Iori wouldn’t have hidden it on them so she avoided them. She made her way out of the lift and through the lobby area, her eyes constantly searching, but not drawing attention to herself. As she reached the point where the lobby changing into the bar, her eye caught a glimpse of yellow, they yellow she had been looking for. The yellow of a lemon! She kept walking but swivelled nonchalantly to confirm. Yep. There it was. The one thing she wanted. Now the challenge was to retrieve said item. Realising who the person was she had to fetch it from, she put on her best smile and turned to speak to his manager. Act natural. Act. Natural.
“Ah, you made it here ok I see!” she said, greeting the manager of the one and only BTS.
He turned to face her, as did the whole group, and he smiled kindly since they had gotten on well during the meeting and planning stages of this event.
“Roo, so nice to see you again!” he bowed and she returned the greeting happily “Yes, just waiting for the rooms to be ready, they said it should only be about half an hour or so, been here long?”
“Since early this morning, the boys are…erm…somewhere” She chuckled, knowing fine well they were watching her from the bar area. Couldn’t draw attention to them, they may throw her game. Too much as at stake.
“I’m sure we can arrange a meet before rehearsals tomorrow” he suggested and she nodded, but turned to greet all the boys of BTS.
“Pardon my rudeness, nice to meet you all, I’m Roo, assistant manager, but mainly the lyricist of Revance” she smiled to each of them and they all bowed back. She spotted Nagi waving from the bar and tapping his watch. Ah shit. She didn’t have long. “I’m sure we can talk more later, if you’ll excuse me, I think Nagi needs some help” She pretended to trip over her own foot, nudging into one of the boys, J-Hope to be exact. As she rectified herself, she grabbed the item that was hidden on top of his duffle bag that was around his shoulders and apologised, running off.
In the bar, all six members of Revance were watching as closely as they could. Iori was the one to place the lemon on J-Hope’s bag, knowing fine well he was Roo’s favourite member of BTS. It was his personal test for her to see if she could act professional whilst playing their game of ‘The Travelling Lemon’. He cockily sipped his drink.
“I would have put it on their manager” Nagi piped up as he settled in his chair with his own drink.
“Yes, but you make it too easy, Nagi” Kyo, the leader of the group said, keeping an eye on Roo as she appeared from the lift.
“I do not” Nagi argued.
“Shh, she’s approaching them” another member, Kota, said as they lowered their heads slightly to be kept from being seen.
No matter where they were, what they were doing there, if they were in a hotel it was a tradition to play this game. Roo had explained the game about a month or two after joining the band to help with the lyrics. At first it was hers and Nagito’s game, after all, Nagi was the only one in the group to be kind to her. As the rest of the group warmed up to her, they all slowly began to join in with the game. Even when Ryo came back from his hiatus, it became a game that they all played together, no matter the situation.
The rules were simple. Name the fruit, usually a lemon, a pun like name. It must be hidden in plain sight, you can’t cover it. Each person takes a turn to find, then re-hide the fruit, once it has been hidden, you must tell the next player ‘the lemon/name of fruit is in play’. Whoever is caught by someone outside of the game, ie asked what they were doing, or they find the lemon/fruit, that player is out. Whoever goes on the longest, wins. You could put time limits on if you wished, which this time they did to make it more interesting.
Ryo had started the round, but got called out early by a staff member so he set up shop in the bar. He was always terrible at the game. Kota was the next one to fail, instead of being called out though, he ran out of time. Nagi soon followed, along with Kyo. For a while, it was between Roo, Iori and Taka and that’s when they decided to put a time limit on. Taka failed and happily sat at the bar listening to his music to keep working. Which left Iori and Roo. Roo had to bring the lemon back to the bar without being called out or run out of time to beat Iori.
“She’s not going to do it, she’s going to chicken out” Iori smirked.
“I wouldn’t doubt her ability so much” Kyo laughed as they watched her interact with the manager for a few seconds.
“She’s running out of time” Nagi checked his watch, gestured to Roo causing Iori to smack his head.
“Oi, whose team you on?” he said.
Nagi laughed rubbing his head.
“We’re not doing team this time, but I’d be on hers any day”
“Too true” Kota joined “here she comes”
Roo jogged over and presented the lemon, Lemon Snicket, to Iori.
“I do believe that is a win!” she smirked at him. Iori huffed and pouted, causing Roo to smile more. Deciding to mock him more, she impersonated his princely act “Oh is my prince not happy? How about I send all of my loving vibes to all my beloved fans? A rose? My my, it’s not as beautiful as your smile”
“No no, wait” Nagi laughed more, jumping off of his seat and joining in “You have to do the smoulder” he posed, pouting his lips ever so slightly, offering his hand out to Iori, Roo copying as best as she can.
“They are decent impressions” Kyo chuckled “Got to admit it, Iori, they have you down to a T”
“Hmm” he said, grabbing the hand that Roo offered in her little skit, pulled her to him and began to tickle around her sides.
She writhed and full on belly laughed at his vicious attacks. Nagi happily joined in, always ready for a laugh no matter what.
“Iori, no ah stop!” she laughed, almost collapsing to the floor. He picked her up and flung her over his shoulder. She ‘oofed’ as her stomach hit his shoulder, but flopping in defeat, too tired from the tickle attack.
“Punishment for teasing me so much” he said.
“We still have a bit of time before the press arrive for our arrival, what should we do now leader?” Kyo asked Takashi who reluctantly removed his head phones.
“I think we should go greet some other groups, and maybe get a drink of water for Roo as she’s gone bright red, you ok?” he asked.
“Normally I’d say I’m fine, but not only did BTS see me up here, but so did the rest of the groups, how embarrassing is that?!” she said as Iori finally lowered her to the floor.
“You’ve been with us for three years now” Kyo said flicking her forehead “if we embarrass you, it’s because we care, I highly doubt they’ll think you’re stupid, come on, chin up, let’s go meet some of the groups ready for the week ahead!”
She grinned, quickly rubbing her eyes and putting her professional head on. He was right. They did stupid stuff together all the time, and the fans still loved them a ridiculous amount. So what if some groups thought it was silly to be this close to each other. She loved the boys with all of her heart and soul, would do anything for them, even hiding a lemon. It was time to be their assistant manager and go see the other artists who had arrived for the biggest event in Asian Pop Culture history.

一起回家吧
おうちにかえろう
Chapter 7
Mei's classmate excitedly displays the contents of her phone - it's a news article featuring Asahina Sora and Higuchi Mana being seen together. She says that Asahina Sora's love life has been exposed.
[News article: Speculated To Be Having a Rendezvous at Okinawa Hotel During Movie Shooting
Popular actor, Asahina Sora is reported to be in a relationship with fellow "Moonlight" actress - Higuchi Mana - a celebrity rising in popularity. Asahina Sora was placed 1st two times consecutively in the "Nation's Most Handsome Man" popularity poll-]
Mei's other classmates exclaim, "Eh--?! With who?" "With Higuchi Mana! That beauty from NHK's morning drama!!" "What?! I'm shocked!!", while Mei looks on. She thinks to herself that after returning from Okinawa, her summer holidays had ended and that was when the news of Asahina and Higuchi's reported relationship exploded all over the internet.
Mei's classmates discuss how Asahina and Higuchi are acting in the same movie, and that it's amazing how they are a couple in real life as well. They then exclaim that they really want to catch the movie.
Mei's classmate then shows some comments on the internet criticizing Asahina: "Isn't it unprofessional to date your co-actor?" "I'm going to stop supporting Asahina" "I'm done with this". Another classmate remarks that despite writing those comments, those same people are still going to watch the movie.
Mei looks on and thinks to herself that Asahina is impressive - the outcome of the news article had developed in exactly the way he had expected.
Later, Mei returns home (Soseki welcomes her back). She notices that there are several pairs of shoes in the hallway and wonders if there are visitors. (Soseki pounces on her to ask for food)
Mei peeks into the living room. Tokieda is excitedly saying that the buzzwords 'Asahina Sora', 'Moonlight' and 'Kaito' have become popular searches on the internet. He says that even though there were some negative comments, overall, the news article had provided great publicity for the movie.
Asahina says, "I'm sorry for the inconvenience I've caused.", and Mei is shocked to see that Asahina is there (she is squeezing Soseki and Soseki is getting annoyed). Tokieda replies to Asahina, saying that it's not an inconvenience at all - and that he and Iori should thank him instead. Iori remarks that with this, Tokieda can probably look forward to a promotion. Mei is still squeezing Soseki in her arms while wondering if the men are discussing business, when Soseki bursts out of her grasp and enters the living room.
The men are surprised by Mei and Soseki's entrance. Mei gets flustered and apologizes, saying that she will go and prepare tea. Asahina's manager (Sasaki) says that it's fine as they are leaving soon. He and Tokieda then get up to leave. Mei is confused, thinking that Sasaki called the wrong person to go.
Sasaki calls to Iori, saying, "Goodbye, Tachibana-sensei! I'm leaving Sora in your care!". This shocks Mei and she wonders what is going on. Asahina greets her and apologizes for the shock he caused. He explains that his home and workplace have been tracked by the media journalists, such that he can't go to those places anymore. Hence, he needs to temporarily stay at Iori's apartment complex, where the security measures are more sound.
Smiling, Asahina says, "I'll be staying with you guys for this period of time. Please take care of me~". Mei is in complete disbelief. Asahina also says that he has a lot of things to consult the novelist, Tachibana-sensei, on. Iori agrees to talk to Asahina, and turns to Mei to say, "Mei, things are as such, so we'll be in your care from here on."
Mei enthusiastically answers that she understands. However, she wonders to herself, 'Does this mean Iori-sensei agreed to this arrangement...? I didn't expect it...'
Meanwhile, Asahina gets up and says that he will be changing into home wear. Mei anxiously thinks that she will be living together with a celebrity.
Later, Mei is in the kitchen preparing ingredients. Asahina asks her if he can take the water from the fridge to drink, and she is startled, but says yes. Mei thinks to herself that having Asahina around at home makes her feel unable to calm down.
As Asahina drinks from the water bottle, Mei imagines the Alps in the background. She is dazzled and wonders to herself if she's watching an advertisement. She then snaps back to focus, telling herself that staring at other people would make them think she's weird, so she should concentrate on her cooking.
However, Mei can't help being fascinated by Asahina drinking from the bottle (and she fails to focus on her cooking). She thinks to herself that she feels awkward. Mei then says to Asahina that she will turn on the the television for him, and asks him to be seated on the sofa.
The TV programme features Asahina and Higuchi, and the TV show hosts are discussing the news article (about the two actors' relationship being exposed). One of the TV show hosts says, "It's great being handsome - as long as one is good-looking enough, one can casually pick any movie to act in or woman to date. He doesn't even have much acting skills-"
Mei is shocked by the TV programme and instantly switches off the TV. She anxiously turns to Asahina and frantically apologizes to him. However, Asahina sparkles, smiles and goes, "Eh? What are you apologizing for? That much is no big deal, you know. (I get it so often, I don't care about it anymore.)" Mei worriedly wonders if what Asahina said is true and thinks that it's tough being a celebrity.
Changing the topic, Asahina asks Mei if he can help her with cooking, and she agrees, while thinking to herself that if they work together, she'll feel more relaxed.
Mei asks Asahina to help peel the onions. Asahina cheerfully does so (while wearing one of Mei's aprons). While gazing at him, Mei thinks to herself that Asahina is impressive, being able to cook.
After a moment, Asahina goes, "Eh?", catching Mei's attention. He had peeled all of the onions into the bowl. Mei is shocked and asks why, and he replies that he didn't know which part of the onion was the skin - and before he realized it, all of the onion was gone.
Seeing this, Mei bursts out laughing. Asahina remarks that she's laughing too much, and Mei apologizes while still laughing. She thinks to herself that Asahina isn't a perfect person either. (Asahina tells her that he can't cook, but she says that he looks like he can).
Later, Mei and Asahina are cooking, and Asahina exclaims that even though the dishes aren't ready yet, they look delicious. He asks Mei if she often helped her mother with cooking last time. Mei replies that as she was originally from a single-parent family, she already started cooking since she was in elementary school. She would feel really happy whenever her mother came home from work and enjoyed her cooking - therefore, naturally, she learnt how to cook.
Asahina then asks Mei, "What reaction does Tachibana-sensei give?", remarking that Iori is always poker-faced. Mei answers that even though she can't tell much from his expressions, Iori would always properly say, "I'm digging in", and "Thank you for the meal", and he would finish eating his favourite dishes. (Asahina remarks that that's basic courtesy.)
Mei continues, saying, "...Also, I feel that eating together with other people is something that brings a lot of happiness."
Asahina glances at Mei while she says that, and tells her, "...Mei-chan, I really want to hug you tight." This shocks Mei, and she goes, "Wh-why do you say so!!". Asahina replies that she feels like a little sister. (He then comments that he and Mei are the same age - 16 years old - and Mei is shocked again).
Iori comes out of his room and sees Asahina and Mei getting along in the kitchen. (Mei says to Asahina that she thought he was older than her, and Asahina replies that people often doubt his age. He also says that Mei can drop the formal language). Iori then returns to his room quietly.
Later, dinner is served. Mei asks Asahina (she used to call him Asahina-san, but now she calls him Sora-kun) if he wants any drinks, but Asahina is absorbed in something on his phone. Mei calls out to him again questioningly and he then responds, saying that he just needs water. Mei seems a little concerned about him.
Mei, Iori and Asahina sit down to eat together. Asahina takes a bite and says that the beef stew is delicious. He compliments Mei, saying that she's a genius and that she can open a restaurant. Mei responds by saying that his acting skills are impressive, but Asahina says that he's not acting. Asahina then asks Iori, "Tachibana-sensei, don't you feel that it's delicious too?"
Iori replies, "Yes. It's pretty tasty."
Asahina then says to Mei, "Look! I told you...", then he notices that Mei is blushing happily. Mei is overjoyed, thinking to herself, 'Oh no! I got so delighted, I started smiling to myself...". Asahina looks on darkly.
Suddenly smiling again, Asahina remarks that Iori is lucky to be able to eat such delicious food every day, adding, "I also want a girlfriend like her." Mei gets confused and asks Asahina what he's talking about.
Asahina asks, "Well, this household doesn't prohibit dating, right?"
Mei is shocked by his question, but Asahina continues to ask, "We can date, right?". Mei replies that she is only in this household in the capacity of a housekeeper.
However, Iori says (with his poker face), "As long as you perform your duties properly, I don't care about other things."
Hearing Iori's words, Mei freezes up momentarily. Recovering quickly, Mei then says with a forced laugh, "...Ah. Geez! You two, stop joking around already! If you don't finish eating soon, I'll take all of the dishes away!". Asahina glances at Mei and Iori.
Later, Mei has changed into her pyjamas and is sitting in the balcony, sighing. She thinks to herself that Iori seemed so indifferent earlier. She starts tearing up, but gets interrupted by Asahina, who has come out into the balcony as well. He says that she might catch a cold if she stays out here.
Mei is surprised by his entrance (she still has tears in her eyes) and wipes them away while Asahina passes her a mug of hot cocoa. Asahina then apologizes for what happened during dinner - he was trying to taunt Iori a little. Mei tells him that he doesn't need to apologize, as she's fine.
Mei sadly says, "Anyway, Iori-sensei isn't interested in me. No matter who I date, I guess it doesn't matter to him."
Asahina thinks back on Iori's question to him in Chapter 6: "What do you need?", and asks Mei, "...Is that really true?"
Mei goes, "Eh?", but Asahina brushes it off, saying that he said nothing.
Mei then says, "That said, I'm sorry for bringing this up while Sora-kun is having such a hard time." Asahina goes, "Hm?", and Mei asks, concernedly, "Well...um, are you fine with the news of your exposé?"
Understanding her question, Asahina then reassures Mei that there's nothing to be worried about, as the news will increase publicity, which is a good thing. However, Mei says that she's not talking about that.
Mei asks, "Sora-kun, are you really alright?". Asahina looks confused, and Mei continues, "Sora-kun, you must have seen the comments online, right? They said some unpleasant things - surely you are affected by them?"
Asahina replies that he's fine, because he's already used to it. However, Mei sadly says that this shouldn't be something one should get used to. She thinks to herself that celebrities are human too, they are not an existence for others to disparage.
Mei says to Asahina, "Even without the news article, Sora-kun's Kaito is still able to move people's hearts."
Smiling with a blush, Mei says, "That's because I am also your number one fan!"
Asahina is dazzled by Mei. He blushes a little, and lowers his head, going, "...Ah--...". This surprises Mei, who asks him what's gotten into him.
With a blush, Asahina responds, saying, "...I'm in trouble."
The next morning, Iori comes out of his room, and Asahina greets him good morning. Asahina tells Iori that Mei has gone to school.
When Iori says, "...Oh, I see.", Asahina says to him, "You're doing it deliberately, aren't you? Saying those things to distance yourself from Mei-chan."
Iori asks, "What?", and Asahina picks up his phone in response. Asahina calls his manager, Sasaki, and tells him, "Regarding the news about my relationship with Higuchi-san, please inform the media that 'It's all fake.' --Yes, thank you. Goodbye."
Ending the call, Asahina smiles at Iori. Asahina says, "What you said before, please don't go regretting it."
