Klangst Prompt #6
6. “You’ve never hurt me. Ever”
Summary: Lately, Lance has been stressed beyond the point of breaking… The end of the war was 3 years ago and yet, it’s not enough time to pass for Lance to feel better. Not even close. Everyone has always called him a hero. And since the day they landed back on earth, everyone has gone so far to ask for photos and autographs and all that. These days Lance is sick of it.
Or; the pressures of being the ‘savior of earth’ has been building up inside of Lance, causing him to erupt on any and everyone.
Good thing he has his amazing boyfriend.
-there’s a slow start, but I PROMISE it’s klance so just keep reading!
-also galra (kitten) Keith ?? I love him
-
It all started with a fangirl just a few weeks ago.
Lance decided to walk to his favorite coffee shop one chilly afternoon. He woke up really late and was immediately craving something sweet yet bitter. And since he lives with most of his family, running out of coffee five days after buying a brand new pack of it is very common, especially when no one wants to buy more for whatever reason.
So there Lance was, walking down the street. Hands tucked into his blue lion hoodie (thanks to all the merch the fans of voltron have made over the years), making his way to the closest coffee shop near his home. And then he hears the high pitched squeal of a girl at least 10 feet away from him. Then 9 feet.. then 6.. then 4 because she’s literally running at him with the speed of a hundred cheetahs chasing a gazelle until she’s right there, face to face with Lance.
“Oh my god!!” She yelled, jumping up and down like some 5 year old girl getting a puppy. She was about 5’7, short brown hair and huge blue eyes that almost resembled Lance’s. She wore this giant faux fur coat and beanie to match, and her phone was IN LANCE’S FACE.
She was all over him and it was attracting others to stare their way. Lance tried to calm her down by smiling and using a little of his charm but it was just making the girl fangirl even more. So he took a picture with her to be on his way before the coffee shop got too busy. But she wouldn’t back off. Apparently she wasn’t satisfied with the picture, something about how her eyes were closed? Or how blurry it came out? Lance couldn't remember, he just wanted his coffee.
The girl kept hounding him and following him, demanding that he retake the picture with her. Lance let her down easy, saying how he needed to be someplace important and that he was running late. The girl kept pushing him. Following his every move, right on his heels. Begging, pleading with him to take more pictures because she ‘needed them,’ whatever that meant. Lance tried his hardest to be nice and polite because as a former paladin of voltron and as one of seven someone’s who have saved the entire universe, his image is everything. Without him or his former paladins, there would probably be no earth. So he stopped in his tracks and took a better picture with the girl.
He felt good to see her happy because of something that he had done. Plus he looked really good in that picture, who knew the earth’s natural lighting at 1pm could make his skin look so smooth? Once he gave his approval of the better pic, he was on his way again, hoping that the line to the coffee shop wasn’t even longer now. As he started to fast walk down the busy sidewalk, something yanked him back by the neck and he came crashing down. Literally. He fell right back on his ass and when he looked up, this same crazy girl was looming over him like a mad woman. With his blue hand-knit wool scarf dangling from her grabby hands. The anger that had been simmering in Lance’s gut was at a full blown boil and he was just about ready to explode. So.. he kinda did..
Long and embarrassing story short, Lance yelled at her. He snatched his blue scarf out of her hands so fast, it scared her, and as he rubbed his most likely bruised tailbone, he got in her face and began blaming her for the world's most horrible fan interaction. He was so angry, that he balled his fists, stomped his foot and had veins protruding out of his neck and forehead. He called her names and most likely spit in her face, but he didn’t care. And when he was done, he took a step back and examined the girl in front of him. She was folded in on herself, holding her arms close to her body as her bottom lip quivered and fat, giant tears rolled down her cheeks. She looked so.. mortified. And actually.. scared of him. Like if Lance were to say anything or move a muscle, she’d flinch.
Seconds later, Lance’s face softened into something regretful and he went out to reach for her, to apologize. But, like he knew she would, she flinched. And then hurried away like he was a mad man. All the while crying and clutching her phone to her chest. Lance felt absolutely demolished inside. He tried to go after her but his feet were glued to the cement of the sidewalk. He didn’t even want his coffee anymore.
Thankfully, there were no viral videos or photos or posts about the incident. Lance ended up tracking the girl down a few days later and showered her with all the love he could muster, even taking as many pics as she wanted and liking them on Instagram when she tagged him. But.. something inside him still felt so horrible about the incident. For a moment, Lance had realized that he genuinely hurt that girl for no real reason. He just wanted some coffee but is coffee more important than the people who are thankful and want to show their gratitude for him for everything he did with voltron? If the roles were reversed and he stayed on earth, he would be bending over backwards to let all the paladins know just how thankful he was to live another day on their planet. That girl probably had family, friends, maybe a spouse and kids, and in the midst of that horrible battle 3 years ago, she most likely thought that one of those days would be her last with them.
It broke Lance’s heart thinking about it. He really hurt her. Sure, he made it right and she forgave him, but in that single moment, he actually hurt someone enough to make them cry, to make them run away from him. It was a terrible feeling. It wasn’t Lance. He never wanted that to happen again.
And at the same time.. he.. kinda never wanted to be the savior of earth. Not really.. he just wanted to feel like he had a place in the universe, and to know that he played an important role. That he mattered.
Guess he really matters now..
He sends a long text to Keith with shaky hands.

The second he walked through the door, his phone rang. It was a three-way call with Hunk and Pidge. Lance pressed the green button to answer and placed the phone to his ear. Immediately, Hunk starts going on and on about how much he misses Lance and when the next time they’ll see each other will be. Lance smiled at his best friend’s inability to ever take a breath between sentences and replied with a warm ‘I miss you too, buddy.’ They got to catching up as Lance ordered his garlic knots and sat down at a private booth near the back of the place. He didn’t want to draw any attention to himself, especially when he got the call from his best friends.
Hunk tells him all the great things that’s been happening at the Garrison and even on the Atlas. He tells him how his restaurant is doing and how his family is doing and how Shay is doing. Pidge catches him up on things with her family, some new inventions she’s been working on, and how being the youngest teacher at the Garrison is going. Lance listens and gives his two cents on everything his friends tell him and honestly, he couldn’t be more happy for them. The way they were able to just get their lives together 3 years after the war is.. incredible. It made him think about everything he’s done since the war ended. Which wasn’t much.. he took over his family’s farm and brought it back to life, he helps out Colleen, Pidge’s mom, with medicine and finding cures to strange space illnesses with plants she has him grow on his farm, and his family’s market wouldn’t be as popular or swarming with business if he didn’t work there. Sad but true. And that’s really it. He hasn’t done much else. Nothing life changing or breathtaking like his friends.
But Hunk and Pidge don’t need to know that. So he simply replies with: “Oh, ya know.. same old, same old,” and hopes it works enough to keep the conversation flowing and follow up questions at bay. It does.
30 minutes into their conversation and Lance is starting to feel a little.. agitated. With the garlic knots consumed and digesting in his stomach, he sits in the booth, alone, listening to his friends go on and on and on about their perfect jobs and their perfect little lives. He gets lost a few times and at one point has literally no idea what they’re talking about. When he tries to ask what or who or even get the slightest details, Pidge lets out a sigh that Lance can’t help but feel like is out of annoyance. Lance sighs back and continues to stay silent because obviously he’s not getting anywhere. Why even bother putting him on a call that Hunk and Pidge could have just had on their own??
Balling his fist, Lance let out a loud, overdramatic sigh. He didn’t care if his friends heard it or how they took it. He was upset. The conversation between his two friends comes to a halt and then awkward silence. Pidge is the first to speak up with a:
“Something you wanna add, Lance?” The annoyance in her voice is very much there and Lance doesn’t miss it. He scoffs loudly and grits his teeth.
“No.” He says, voice deepening in anger.
“Oh really?” Pidge asks, poking the sleeping bear that lies dormant in lance. “Cause it sure sounds like it to me. Why don’t you stop being such a fucking child and tell us what’s bothering you this time??”
Lance damn near growls.
The line has gone quiet now. Hunk’s unsteady breathing is audible but other than that, silence. Lance digs his nails into the skin of his palms and tries to keep the angry tears in his eyes from falling down his cheeks. With a deep shaky breath, he smiles through the pain.
“You know what, Katie,” Lance spits and it makes Hunk gasp. “Fuck YOU and this stupid, shitty attitude you have all the time!”
“Oh, god..” Hunk winces.
“I don’t know what the actual fuck crawled up your ass,” Lance continues, “but I’m sick of it! I've been sick of it for years! I’m sick of keeping my mouth shut and quite frankly, I’m sick of YOU!”
Lance is standing up out of his seat now. His chest heaves up and down as the angry tears have fallen past his face and down his neck. His voice is two octaves deep from anger and the skin of his palm is bloody from how hard he’s digging his nails into it. The place has gone quiet now and Lance can feel multiple pairs of eyes on him. So much for not drawing any attention to himself.
The line is quiet. Then, the sound of a huff of breath. A small laugh.. And then:
“Wow. Nice one, McClain..” Pidge’s voice is small, but so full of something. “Go screw yourself, you asshole.”
The call ends. Whether Pidge or Hunk ended it, is unclear.
Minutes pass, and Lance is still standing in the same place with the phone to his ear. Tears are running down his face, and his Altean marks are buzzing so loud in his ears. His heart is pounding in his ribcage and ice cold sorrow runs through his veins..
He sends a long text to Keith with shaky hands.
Message delivered...
Now, exactly 3 months since that little incident, Lance sits alone in his home. In his childhood bedroom he can’t seem to rearrange because he’s still holding out hope that one day he’ll turn back time and be his child self and get a redo on his life. But hey, it’s better this way. After the whole dilemma with Pidge, Hunk tried to call Lance to help but ended up getting his feelings hurt. Yep. By Lance. Because Lance is a big jerk and can’t stop hurting everyone around him.
So he hasn’t talked to Pidge or Hunk since then. Mostly out of guilt and shame because those two are supposed to be his bestest friends and he hurt them. Nothing he could say or do could make up for his selfish mind and stupid mouth. Lance had this whole plan to go to Shiro about it, to get his advice so Lance could make it all better.
But Pidge being Pidge.. texted the whole thing in their group chat and.. well.. everyone saw it. Shiro, Hunk, Matt, even Keith possibly! It got so bad that Lance’s phone kept going off with alerts from everyone asking what happened and what he said. Curtis tried calling him and left a few messages. Shiro left him a long voicemail. And of course the word traveled so fast that it reached New Altea and Coran got involved. Which caused Romelle to be involved, too. She gossiped to Acxa, who told her girlfriend, who happens to be Lance’s sister, Veronica. Veronica blabbed to Rachel, who blabbed to Marco, who blabbed to Luis.. who blabbed to Lance’s dad.. WHO BLABBED TO LANCE’S MOM. And boy did she have some interesting words for him in the SEVEN, LONG voicemails asking exactly ‘what happened’and ‘why The Holt siblings were so angry with him.’
Everything escalated so fast. Lance can’t even remember what he said. Or why he said it. Since the war ended, it’s been so hard on him. Sure, it’s been hard on everyone, but for Lance it’s been different. Everyone looks up to him for some reason and expects him to do so good and be the hero they all think he is, when in reality? He was just a leg…
Exactly what did he gain from being a paladin of voltron anyway?? Get banged up and bruised almost everyday he was out there? Have people on his case, constantly reminding him how unimportant he was to the team? Pointing out all of his flaws and mistakes and focusing on those when there’s a million other good things he’s done that towers over all the bad shit?? Sure, he returned home to his family who he literally missed and cried for every single day, but he lost the love of his life in the process.
To put it all out there, Lance didn’t really gain anything. He got to travel through space, which was his dream since he was a little kid, and then space chewed him up and spit him out as some fake hero with PTSD and other trauma that will haunt him for the rest of his pathetic life.
So.. these past 3 months.
Lance has been sitting up in his childhood room.
Wishing he could use the power of Altea or something to turn back time.
And be his younger self.
His innocent self.
His happier self.
Back when he wasn’t so fucked up and had dreams and goals.
Back when everyone was proud of him.
Back to when he didn’t know who Allura was or that she even existed. Back to when Voltron didn’t exist either and everything was fucking fine.
Staring up at his ceiling, Lance counts the glow in the dark stars that he’s had up there since he was six years old. Somehow they’re still glowing and Lance is thankful for that because at 3 in the morning when the world is fast asleep and everything is pitch black, he could use the light.
It comforts him. Reminds him of a simpler, more happier time in his life.
Something sharp digs through Lance’s chest as he stares at those fake neon stars, and it hurts really bad. His breathing begins to quicken, matching the beat of his heart, and a lump finds its way up his throat. Tears pool in the rim of his eyes and spill down the corners, streaming down the sides of his face.
And they don’t stop. The stars get blurrier as Lance’s breathing gets heavier. His body begins to tremble with every hiccup of a sob that pours out of him and he’s crying so hard that his brain throbs in his head.
He curls in on himself in his bed and wraps his arms around his torso, crying uncontrollably into his space themed pillow. His Altean marks begin to buzz and glow and he can’t bring himself to care because all he wants to do is disappear.
Disappear from this game called life.
He types a text to Keith with teary eyes and a quivering bottom lip.
Message.. deleted…
As 3 in the morning turns to 4, a pod lands in the grass just a couple yards away from Lance’s farm. Boot covered feet step out of said pod and touch the wet grass waiting for them. It’s still dark out and the only light visible are the fireflies that buzz around a pair of cowboy booted feet. Those booted feet begin to walk, carrying a tall, broad, raven haired stranger up a hill to Lance’s home. The frogs and crickets seem to grow louder as the stranger in black cowboy boots makes their way to the front porch and pulls back the creaky screen door to a cold, locked doorknob. A set of keys are pulled out and a specific blue key is pushed inside the lock, turning and unlocking the door. The stranger walks in and is instantly met.. with..
Crying??
“H-Hello??” The stranger calls out. “Lance?”
The crying stops.
It’s dead quiet..
The door shuts on its own and the echo around the house is eery.
Light footsteps descend the stairs and before they know it, the stranger is being tackled to the ground in a bear hug.
“Ah-! Lance!?” They yell as the duffel bag from their hand falls to the ground.
“Keith!!” Lance yells out, voice rasped from endless crying.
Keith can immediately hear it and wraps his arms around Lance so tight, holding him close. His eyes glow yellow, something that usually happens out of fear, anger, or protectiveness, and his lips protrude to make way for his double set of fangs that are ready to bite any and everyone.
“Lance!” Keith tries to sit up but is pinned to the ground with all of Lance’s dead body weight. “Lance, honey, are you hurt? What’s wrong??”
A hand through curly brown locks and Lance’s crying dies down. He snuggles his face into Keith’s neck and hiccups through a response. Something too incoherent for Keith to make out, but he feels it has something to do with why he was told to go home ASAP.
A few weeks ago, Keith was contacted by Acxa via video chat. They talked and caught up for a few minutes before Acxa told Keith the real reason for her call. She explained that Veronica was having a tough time reaching out to Lance and that he might be in some kind of trouble. Not knowing the full extent of the story, Acxa only told Keith what she heard from Veronica and others. Fearing the worst, Keith packed up his shit and set a course for Earth as fast as he could.
Unfortunately, there were some setbacks on his way over where he had to make a few stops to tend to aliens in need because after all, that’s still his job as a blade member, but when that got finished, Keith hightailed it over. His Galra instincts wouldn't allow him to stay away for much longer anyway and having accepted his galra side a long time ago, it would have been best for everyone to let him go home.
Keith now lays in Lance’s bed, every inch of Lance’s body wrapped up around him like a snake. Keith strokes Lance’s hair soothingly and holds him close to his chest, right over his beating heart. A deep, soothing purr emits itself from Keith’s body and calms Lance’s nerves right down to the bone. Keith knows how much Lance adoreshis Galran features and at this point, Keith would do absolutely anything for Lance to feel better.
They talked about everything that happened and are now in the cuddle stage. Lance has his eyes shut, listening to Keith purr just for him. Long limbs wrapped around every inch of his boyfriend while Keith’s long nails scratch at his scalp, life is so good.
Life is so good with Keith around.
“So,” Keith says, voice as calm as ever. “What exactly did Pidge say?”
“Oh,” Lance answers, his voice quiet as a mouse. “You didn’t see the messages in the group chat?”
“No.” Keith shrugs, laying his cheek against Lance’s forehead. “Been kinda busy.. And I actually don’t understand how a group chat works.”
That rises a chuckle out of Lance as he sits up a bit to reach for his phone on the bedside dresser.
“Idiot,” he whispers with a small smile on his face and it makes Keith light up, his purring becoming a bit louder.
Lance lays back on Keith’s chest as he scrolls through the messages on his phone. When he finds the message from Pidge, Lance clears his scratchy throat and sniffs.
“From Pidgeotto,” he starts, looking at Pidge’s name in their ✨Paladudes✨ group chat. “Just an FYI lance is a.. a total fucking jackass and I am no longer friends with him..”
Keith immediately frowns at that.
Lance continues. “He can suck my big toe for all I care. I’m done with him. Have fun being a lonely loser @LanceyPants.”
“What the fuck?” Keith says, eyes glowing yellow in the dark room. “Why would she say that!?”
Lance shakes his head, tears forming in his eyes again. “Because she was right. I am a jackass..”
“Lance, no!” Keith sits up, bringing Lance with him. They sit side by side as Lance holds himself and looks down at his space blanket. He shrugs once and sniffs.
“Keith, stop,” he says, wiping a tear from his eye. “Look, I said some very hurtful things to her and she lashed out in a perfectly normal way..”
“Normal!?” Keith scoffs, grabbing Lance’s phone and rereading the message again. “Jackass? Loser?? Come on, Lance, she’s completely bullying you and you know it!”
Lance whips around with an angry expression on his face “Because I deserve it!”
The room grows quiet. Keith takes a deep breath and reaches over to grab Lance’s shoulders.
“Calm.” He says, taking a deep breath for Lance to mimic. Lance takes a deep breath with him and lets it out. Keith begins to purr again and it calms Lance even more.
“I.. Sorry..”
Keith nods. He reaches up to cup Lance’s cheek and rubs his thumb across Lance’s tear stained eye.
“You know I would never hurt anyone on purpose..” Lance sniffs. “That’s not who I am. I’m just.. I’m tired of being this symbol of everything strong and good and brave.”
“Mhm,” Keith rubs Lance’s back, leaning in closer to him to nuzzle his forehead. Lance nuzzles back and Keith’s purrs.
“I keep.. I keep hurting everyone I care about..” Lance whispers in a voice so low and fragile, it nearly shatters Keith’s heart.
“That’s not true.” Keith pulls back a little to look into Lance’s teary blue eyes. “Lance, you are the most incredible, selfless, honest person I’ve ever known. You are strong and good and brave even if you don’t mean to be. Or want to be.”
Lance pulls away and stares at his hands. Keith keeps his eyes focused on Lance.
“I know you think you hurt that fangirl from a few months ago.” Keith continues. “Or Pidge. Or Hunk. Or your parents or friend or family or whoever, but you could never hurt anyone.”
“Yeah, right,” Lance shakes his head. “I already did. I hurt everyone.”
“And even if that’s true,” Keith grabs Lance’s hands in his own, “which it’s not, you’re not doing it on purpose. You have a right to your own feelings! And you have a right to speak your mind.”
“And what if that hurts people??” Lance looks up and meets teary eyes to indigo ones. “What if I accidentally hurt my mama or my sisters or brothers, or nieces and nephews because I can’t be who they want me to be, who they think I am!?”
“Lance,” Keith shakes his head.
“What if I hurt you???” Lance’s eyes go wide. He looks Keith up and down and exhales a panicked breath. “God, Keith.. wh-what if I hurt you??”
“Oh, Lancey,” Keith sighs that lovey-dovey sigh where his eyes go all big and black like a cat’s, and the purr in his chest gets louder. “You’ve never hurt me. Ever.”
Lance stares into Keith’s eyes like they’re his lifeline.
“B-but.. but what if-?”
“No more what if’s!” Keith cuts Lance off by covering his mouth with his hand. “Listen to me, Lance. Are you listening??”
Lance nods repeatedly.
“Good,” Keith smiles, all crooked and cute and beautiful. “The only person you ever need to worry about hurting is yourself.”
And there it is. The one thing Lance has been dying to hear without knowing he’d been dying to hear it. It’s like a breath of fresh air, or cool rain on a hot and sweaty day. The permission he needed but didn’t really need. He has a right to care about himself and put himself first but whenever he tries, the guilt eats him alive. Why should he care about himself when he has to care more about others???
No. That’s not the case. It’s never been the case.
“You’ve gotta stop doing this to yourself,” Keith finishes, stroking the endless sea of tears that are falling from Lance’s eyes. He strokes Lance’s glowing Altean marks and leans forward to kiss one softly. Lance trembles slightly, closing his eyes to bask in the moment.
“I’m sure Pidge has gotten over it by now,” Keith reassures. “She just has too much pride to make the first more and apologize. You know how she is.”
“Y-Yeah,” Lance hiccups, nodding.
“And Hunk?” Keith scoffs. “I bet your mailbox is full of letters from him, explaining how sorry he is and hoping you’re doing alright. You know if he can’t reach you from your phone, he has other ways.”
That makes Lance smile.
“There’s probably cookies on the way right now.” He looks into Keith’s eyes, exhaling a small laugh.
“Oh, yeah,” Keith agrees, laughing that angelic laugh and showing off his perfect pearly fangs. Lance’s heart skips a fucking beat.
“And your fangirl?” Keith’s purring stops. “Well, she never should have gotten all up in your space that’s for sure. You had every right to punch her.”
“Keith!” Lance squeaks, face contorting into shock and confusion. “I-I didn’t punch her!”
“Really?” Confusion etches itself all over Keith’s features and he puts a finger to his chin. “I could have sworn I read that in your text.”
“No way, man!” Lance defends, waving his arms around. “Why would I ever in my life-!” He stops mid sentence to see the shit-eating grin plastered on Keith’s face.
“Just kiddin, lil lady,” Keith says in his best southern accent, smiling big and wide.
Lance bursts out into a fit of laughter, hitting Keith’s chest and arms and back. Keith shields himself and laughs, grabbing Lance’s arms and bringing him down onto the mattress. They fall back with Keith looming over Lance, his long raven hair surrounding their faces.
Lance stares up into those beautiful, indigo eyes and sniffs, unable to look away. He reaches up and cups Keith’s face, rubbing his thumb over Keith’s Galran stripe.
“Do you understand what I’m saying?” Keith asks in his softest voice, eyes roaming from Lance’s teary blue eyes to his luscious lips.
“Yes,” Lance nods, not even bothering to blink because if he does, he’ll miss Keith’s everything.
“Don’t let anyone get you down, my sweetheart.” Keith whispers, leaning in closer. “Ever.”
Lance nods.
“And if they do,” Keith’s face turns serious, indigo eyes going dark. “I’ll bite their throats out and hand them to you on a silver platter.”
“Keith,” Lance exhales, going red in the face and ears. “Holy shit, you can’t just say things l-like that.”
Keith’s hard demeanor falls as he giggles and leans in close. Before they close the gap between their lips, Lance whispers, “And hey. I thought pet names were my thing?”
And Keith kisses him to shut him up.
They kiss like they haven’t seen each other in years and it’s the greatest Lance has ever felt. Keith kisses like he’s starving for it, craving it so much more than air and it’s hot and powerful and so, so damn good.
Lance wraps his arms and legs around Keith’s body and kisses him back with fervor. He allows Keith to make him feel better, and kisses his pain away. Keith pulls away slowly, licking into Lance’s mouth before he does so. Lance lets out a small groan and smiles before he opens his eyes.
“I love you,” he whispers, tucking some hair behind Keith’s ear.
“I love you, more,” Keith whispers back, settling himself between Lance’s legs. “Feeling any better?”
“A little,” Lance looks away, sniffling a little. His eyes focus back to Keith’s and a small smile appears on his kiss swollen lips. “But I know a great way you can make me feel all the way better.”
“Oh, yeah,” Keith smirks, burying his face into Lance neck to start kissing slowly. “And what’s that?”
Lance giggles like a little kid, running his hands up and down Keith’s sides. When Keith pulls back, he trails his kisses up the side of Lance’s face and stops at his Altean mark.
“Make love to me,” Lance whispers, rubbing his nose against Keith’s. “Touch me all over and hold me until the sun comes up and just.. love me. Please..”
Keith’s face softens into something full of love and adoration. He moves forward to peck Lance’s lips, then his chin, and then his other Altean mark.
“Anything you want, my sweet..” he kisses Lance’s cheek. “Beautiful..” he kisses Lance’s jaw. “Amazing.. wonderful..”
“Alright, enough!” Lance laughs, slapping Keith in the back. His cheeks are on fire as he closes his eyes when Keith starts nibbling on his neck with his fangs. A chill runs down Lance’s spine and tingles to his toes, making them curl.
Keith sits up one last time and stares at Lance like he’s the world.
“I’ll take good care of you, baby.” He says with the utmost truth in his sultry voice. “I promise. We’re in this together.”
“Yeah,” Lance nods, letting his tears fall down his face and glowing Altean marks. “Together.”
And as Keith kisses Lance so lovingly, Lance can’t help but be glad that he can’t turn back time to be his younger self. Because with Keith around, he feels all the happiness in the whole world just like he did when he was young.

The Lost Al Ghul - Prologue
Marin al Ghul was born 4 years after the demon's head Damian al Ghul. She was considered as a weakness because she was a girl.  But a priest in the League denied that.
" Show me the baby! " Ra's al Ghul's voice boomed in the room. The baby was brought.
" It's a girl ! Kill her she will only be a weakness!" said Ra's. Ra's al Ghul's head priest right then exclaimed " No wait, The girl will be a powerful assasin, one of the best ones the league hass ever seen. Train her along the Demon's head as the main protector, Let her mentor be Lady shiva and Talia al Ghul herself, The girl will Flourish under their training! "
"Fine, the girl shall live. But she shall prove her worth when she is 10. She shall battle Lady Shiva herself!" Said Ra's. "Very well Father." responded Talia.

-   4 years later
"Damian ! Report !"  Shouted Ra's al Ghul sitting on his arm chair.
" Yes Grandfather. "  Replied a 8 year old  Damian .
He had just returned from an Important mission and was giving his report. Talia was sitting in her Daughter's room while her daughter was learning about the miraculous. She was waiting for Marin to show up for her first mission whch was about to be decided.
- Talia al Ghul's POV -
I am waiting for Marin to come back from her teacher's room. Father Informed me her first Mission, to go with Damian to demolish a drug dealer's base. But first I have to take her to meet Damain. Her lesson was over 6 minutes ago... Why is she still not h-
" Mistress Talia, What are you doing here? " Ah there she is. But this is the first time i am noticing that she is calling me Misstress. I love my daughter, but I think she is scared.
" Oh, Marin! There you are ! Your First mission is decided . You are to go to a drug dealer's base and demolish it alongside Damian. And no need to call me Mistress, I am your mother."  I say .
" Alright Mis- I mean Mother." Marin replies.
" Come on Marin, Let's go meet your Brother. You are to leave the league tonight." I reply. I am worried that damian will not treat her properly.
" Coming Mother. " She replies.
Now we are waking towards Damian's Chambers. "Damian open up! " I shout while knocking.
" Yes Mother? " good he's here. " Damian this is Marin, Your sister. She is to accompany you on tonights mission. Now i will leave you both to discuss your plan. " Now i am turning back to leave. " Nice to meet you Ukhti! Lets Talk! Tell me about yourself! " I hear Damian's exited voice in a distance. I walk away with a faint smile. ' This went better than I thought . '

_____________________________________________________
“Have you looked at the teams that could draft you?” Your voice was quiet, soft. You weren’t entirely sure if this was crossing the line or not, since you knew that he didn’t want to think about the draft to much. But you couldn’t stop yourself.
“No, Y/N. It’s not in my hands anyway.“
“Well I did. And I think-“ “ Don’t Y/N. I could literally go to any team.”
“But some are more likely and some seem nicer than others…” You could hear him let out a deep sigh, letting you know that he gave in. “ Oh, yeah?”
“Yeah, I mean Ottawa would be perfect. You already play here and I’ve almost gotten used to this city. Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg are around there as well. There not as close as Ottawa but still Canada. Maybe there’s some other smaller cities…”
“Y/N, there are no real small cities. And you can barely tolerate Ottawa and it’s one of the smaller ones… Detroit’s close and-“
“But it’s so industrial and dark and… I don’t know, Travis. I just… What if it’s somewhere far away?”
“You’ll come with me… I’m not leaving you behind and I know you don’t like cities and would rather live here on the farm but I can’t change it.”
You let out a deep breath. “Travis, I just.. I want to come with you, I do. But I’m not made for a big city. I love my friends, my family, everything we’ve got here. And dragging me into some big city far away, feels a lot like locking me up in a cage. And you know how much I value freedom.”
“But you’ll make new friends, and you’ll warm up to living in a city, just like you did with Ottawa. WE can do this, we’re going to be just fine, okay?”
When you looked into his eyes you could see how sure he was of this, so you slowly exhaled.
“Okay. But promise me that you’re not gonna do this to me. If it’s someplace too big or to constricting for me, you won’t keep me locked in a cage. Promise me you won’t clip my wings.”
He gave you a soft smile and slowly caressed your face before his expression turned serious.
“I promise I won’t do this to you.”
You were struggling to breath, trying to gasp for air.
“No, no no no. This is not…” You didn’t really know where you were going with this. Your heart was aching more than it had in a while. The things was he was right. You could almost hear 17 year old Travis saying it. He had promised you. He had promised you to not constrict you, promised you to not take you into some big dark city. How you hated cities. Or at least used to hate them.
He meant to do the right thing, at the wrong time. And how wrong he had been…
“I didn’t want you to have this life, you deserved someone better. Someone who is there for you all the time. Someone who doesn’t spent most of his time on the road while you are left behind in some apartment, some city that you hate. Before I was drafted I promised you I would never do this to you. Lock you in a cage, clip your wings as you said. You hated the city, you hated the thought of being away from your family and friends. You loved being outside, being in nature. Port Stanley, the lake, the farm. This life here is everything you hate. And I would not put you through this, no matter how much I loved you.”
This felt like a dagger straight through your heart. You really couldn’t imagine yourself living that life back then.
“I moved here for you, Travis. Because I loved you. And…” He took the words straight out of your mouth.
“That’s what I mean, Y/N. I didn’t want you to give up your dream life just for me. Can’t you see that?
“Hah…” your laugh sounded bitter, almost cruel. “How couldn’t you see how happy I was? I wanted that life Travis! You didn’t do this to me. I choose to come to Philly Travis! I made the final decisions. Because I loved you. Because it was worth it to me. But do you know what you really did? You left me! On our wedding day. And I tried to come after you but you already left. And I waited and waited and waited in our house. The house we were supposed to grown old together. Spend our time in the off season. Raise our kids.”
You paused trying to get some air in, now you felt like you were being constricted. Travis’ hand moved towards you, he tried to reach out to you but you pulled back. Took a step back, trying to get some more space between the two of you. You took a deep breath.
“But then Nolan told me where you were and that you wouldn’t come back. You never came back! So when Nolan left I burned the letter and started packing everything up. By midnight of that day I was gone.”
“I’m sorry, Y/N.”
“Don’t! Sorry just doesn’t cut it.”
There were many moments were you felt broken, shattered in the last few years. But were have you felt this low. And little. And humiliated. You felt like the invisible hand around your neck had tightened. You needed to get out of here.
“I..  can’t do this, Trav. I need… time.” You barely got those words over your lips. You could see that Travis wanted to say something, reach out to you in any way. But he didn’t. He knew better than that. So he watched you get in your car and drive off into the distance. Probably trying to put as much space as possible in between the two of you.
---------------
You threw yourself into work after that. Week after week. Occasionally meeting up with the girls or some of the guys on the team. You knew better this time than to push Nolan out of your life. You started to help Maddie with the wedding planning, even if you felt a little tug in your heart everytime you did. You felt like you were starting to get your life back a bit. Piece by piece.
It was a Sunday afternoon in late March when you felt a sudden urge to clean your apartment. You went through the kitchen, the living room and were just about starting in your room when your eyes fell onto a drawer in your room. And suddenly you felt like you knew exactly what you had to do. You felt pretty erratic and your mind was racing.
Within 20 minutes you were sitting your car in front of a building halfway through town. And for the next 10 minutes you contemplated whether this was actually the right thing to do. Was this really what you wanted? Should you really go through with it? But you were already here, so you exited the car.
Only when you walked through the lobby you realised that you weren’t sue how to get to his apartment. He wasn’t living in the same building anymore, then you used to live in. The receptionist probably wouldn’t just let you in and you didn’t really felt like explaining your situation to the receptionist.
So instead you exited the building and made your way back to the car. You needed to talk to him, now. Before you run again.
You didn’t have his number either so you texted Nolan to text Travis to come outside. You felt pretty weird, almost like some stalker waiting in front of a building until the person left the building or so. Thankfully, it didn’t take Nolan very long to respond and telling you that he texted Travis. He also mentioned that Travis hadn’t read the text yet.
You were still staring at you phone waiting for Nolan to update you when he exited the building and walked towards you. His steps were cautious and he seemed pretty tired. When he finally was a few steps away you felt your mind catch up.
“Uhh, I was just in the neighbourhood…” What a dumb thing to say, Y/N; you thought. He knew this was a lie. You were never in this area of town. But Travis seemed more confused than anything.
“Ah, yeah okay… What’s going on?” He seemed more nervous than usual. His confidence seemed non existent at this moment. He looked like a deer in the headlights. Well, you came to him so you might as well say what you came here for.
“I thought a lot about us after that conversation, Travis.” He looked guilty at the mention of your last conversation.
“You know, the reason why I burned that letter that day was because I thought that no matter what the reason was, it wouldn’t matter. Because in the end you left me. Yes, I wanted to know the reason why you did it. But it doesn’t change anything. No reason truly justifies what you did to me. Or makes up for all the pain. It just gives me clearance. You know even with that good intention, I just don’t understand why you didn’t ever talk to me about it. We were 17 when we made that promise and I don’t think we ever brought it up again.”
Travis was shaking his head desperately, you were pretty sure he knew where this was going.
“Please don’t, Y/N. Please…” But he knew he was losing this game.
“We’re not the Y/N and Travis that we once were. Not anymore. And we never will be, Travis. Believe me I want nothing more than to go back to that time. To that couple that we used to be. But this is never going to happen Travis and we both have to accept that.”
“You don’t know that, I mean you can’t just give up. I can’t do this without you.”
“You gave up on us a long time ago. And yes, you can. You’ve done it before. Just this time, I’m going to be the one who walks away.”
“Y/N…”
You stepped towards and took his hands in yours as you leaned in and gave him a kiss on the cheeks. As you pulled away you placed something into his palms.
“Goodbye, Travis”
You stepped back towards your car as he looked down at his hands.
The little velvet box with your engagement ring.
And he knew that this was it.
Game over.
 ------------------------------------
The rest of the school year passed quickly and soon summer came around. You had been so busy teaching and helping Maddie with the wedding, time had flown by quickly. You hadn’t seen Travis again and you felt yourself heal again. You knew that there would always be a piece of you that would never be over him. A little piece of your heart would belong to him. But slowly you came to terms with the fact the the rest of your heart wouldn’t.
It was mid July now and Maddie’s wedding was finally here. You had been busy all weekend and you finally felt yourself able to relax as you were sitting in a chair getting your make up done.
“He’s gonna be here. He’s invited.” Maddie glanced over her shoulder towards you as her hairstylist send her a glare for moving around.
“I know Maddie, I’ll be fine.” You weren’t sure if that was actually true but at least you could try to make yourself believe that. Maddie didn’t comment on that but you were sure that she wasn’t really believing you.
The ceremony was drawing closer as you helped with Maddie’s dress and later slipped into your dress as well.
Eventually there was a knock on the door from Kevin, who was picking you up to walk you downstairs to the ceremony. He offered to be your date. He was one of the only single guys that you knew and you were sure that I wouldn’t hurt to have him by your side.
“Ahh, of you’re you look absolutely beautiful.” He gave you a beaming smile as he escorted you to the down the stairs and outside.
“You look sharp too, Kev. A real suit guy.” You winked at him as his booming laugh shook his body.
“Okay, calm down with that roasting.” He wasn’t really serious though, he loved when you chirped him.
“When your big day coming anyway? Ever gonna settle down?” Your eyes glinted, you knew how much he wanted to get married and have kids.
He just scoffed before replying,
“Yeah, yeah. One day I will find the right girl, you just wait.”
You started to mix with other guest as more people were drawing in, since the ceremony was coming closer. You spoke to some of the guys, found Nolan and Kelsey before going of to the side the catch some air.
You overlooked the seats and the aisle leading towards a little podium and you felt that heartache again. You just couldn’t quiet shake that wedding sadness. You were lost in thought when you felt someone approaching.
You knew it was him behind you before you even turned around. The two of you had seemingly always had that. That special connection. That buzzing feeling you would get if he was close to you. The way you would always find each other in a crowded room. Like two magnets pulling towards each other.
And knowing that you would never get that with anyone else, ever, made your heart feel heavy. Travis had always been the one for you and no matter how hard you tried nobody could ever take his spot. You could love someone, yes. You could even see yourself spend your life with someone. But this person could never be him. They would never be able to make you feel what he did. You could never get that special connection, that buzzing feeling with anyone else, ever.
“I’m sure you’ve already been told but… You look stunning, Y/N!” He stepped beside you while you turned to face him. He was dressed in your favourite navy suit and a crisp white dress shirt. He wasn’t wearing a tie, the top buttons of his shirt were unbuttoned instead. He gave you a shy smile. One that told you that he wasn’t entirely sure whether he just stepped over a line or not.
“Thank you. You don’t look to bad yourself, Travis.” An you meant it. He did look good. Better than he had in months. The bags under his eyes had disappeared, he looked younger now. More like his actual age. And there was a glint in his eyes. The sparkle that you used to love so much.
He stayed silent for a bit. You could see he was deep in thought, somewhere else even though physically he was beside you.  Just when you got used to the silence between you two, he spoke up again.
“You were right. We’re not the same people we once were. And we never will be. We will never be the Y/N and Travis we once were. And we will never be the couple we were then. People change and people grow. You’re not the same person at 20 than you were at 17. And you’re not the same person now than what you were at 20. And I just know that the person that I am now loves you just as much as the person I was at 20. Or the boy I was at 17. And I know that I will still love you when I’m 40. Or 70. I will never stop loving you, Y/N.”
He took a deep breath, trying to sort the words that were swirling around in his head into a sentence. His little speech left you breathless. You were sure he had been thinking about this for weeks. And he was right, people do change and people grow. But that doesn’t always mean that people grow in the same direction.
“I’ve always wanted this, you know?” He was gesturing around him. “Since I met you I knew that you were the one for me. That you were the one I was going to marry one day. You were the person I wanted to have kids with. I wanted this life for us so bad, I lost sight of us. I lost myself and the person I used to be. And when I realised that I felt like I had already pushed you into it. So I did the only thing I knew. I ran.”
Your heart felt heavy and looking at him wasn’t helping. He wasn’t looking at you, his eyes were trained on the ground but you could see the glazing over his eyes. He was close to tears and this truly hit home to you.
He had told you so many times that he didn’t intent to hurt you but you never believed him, how could you? But now you understood that he truly thought it was the only way. That he had already pushed you too far into the cage to retrack what he had done. That the only way to keep you from losing your freedom was to let you go. To leave the cage open and walk away.
He got it all wrong though. Because you didn’t feel like he was putting you in a cage or clipping your wings.
“I wanted to marry you, Travis. You weren’t pressuring me into it.” He had to know that, the last thing you wanted was for him to carry that guilt around.
He finally turned his gaze towards you and looked you in the eyes. His lips were pressed into a pained line.
“I know. I know that now.” His eyes searched for yours before he slowly took a step towards you.
He brushed a hair out of your face before giving you a quick kiss on your forehead.
“Enjoy the wedding. I might see you later.”
The gesture was so sweet, so intimate. It felt so domestic, like something he would do everyday. A painful thought crossed your brain then. It felt so domestic because he used to do it everyday.
“You ruined weddings for me.” You didn’t mean to say those words out loud, you weren’t even consciously thinking them and to be honest you thought he was out of earshot already. But he stopped in his track and turned back to you. You didn’t dare to fully turn around, only just looking over your shoulder.
“I’ve ruined a lot of things for you, Y/N. I wish I could undo it.” And with that he vanished into the crowd.
You endured the ceremony. Well maybe that’s a bit harsh. You were happy for Maddie and Provy and the ceremony was incredibly beautiful. But you couldn’t help the bitter taste in your mouth. This should have been Travis and you, 3 years ago.
You let the wedding pass over you, you enjoyed hanging out with the team, catching up with the girls, you even let Kevin drag you to the dance floor.
You tiredly let yourself fall into a chair besides Kevin. You followed his gaze to another table. Travis was sitting there, seemingly without much company. You didn’t know whether he had  a date or not but by the looks of it was he here by himself. Kevin must have noticed that you were looking at Travis.
“If you’re ever going to forgive him and give him another chance, might as well do it now. I know he will wait for you for as long as you want but… you never know how long someone is going to stay in your life. Take it from someone who had both parents go through cancer and nearly lost a leg, okay? Life won’t wait around for you. Don’t let it pass you by.”
With that he rose from his chair beside you. You wanted to make some funny remark about him being all poetic and shit but he had already made his way towards the bar. You followed his advice non the less and made your way towards Travis.
“This seat taken?” He nearly fell off his chair once he realised who asked the question.
“Of course! Uh, I mean, no it’s not taken.” You chuckled at him stumbling over those words. You sat down.
“You seem lonely, no date?” The words were out of your mouth before you could stop them. Was this to much? Did you step over a line? Travis seemed to relax himself and smiled.
“Ah haha, yeah no date. You came with Kevin?” It was nonchalant but you knew the deeper meaning behind his question.
“Yeah, always better to come with a friend than alone, you know.”
He nodded agreeingly before an uncomfortable silence fell between the two of you.
The songs were a slower than before which meant they weren’t as tiring as before. And before you could stop yourself your suggestion had already crossed your lips.
“Do you wanna dance?”
An immediate smile spread across Travis’ face. “Yeah, of course. I mean if that’s what you want.”
You laughed quietly and nodded. “Yeah, I’d like that. Just don’t step on my feet.”
“I try my best.”
For a bit the two of you swayed quietly to the music. It was already rather late so there weren’t to may people on the dance floor. The song changed and you let out a dry laugh as you realised what song had come on. Travis must have notice your reaction too.
“What?” He looked confused. “What’s funny.”
“Nothing, just the song.” He stilled and listened to the music. It was a Lewis Capaldi song. And it hit closer to home than you liked.
I've been holding on to hope That you'll come back when you can find some peace 'Cause every word that I've heard spoken Since you left feels like an hollow street
The song perfectly seemed to portray you and Travis. You felt your emotion dwelling up, as you heard the next verse.
I've been told, I've been told to get you off my mind But I hope I never lose the bruises that you left behind Oh my lord, oh my lord, I need you by my side
You let out a choked laugh. “I wish I could get you off my mind, but I can’t. Part of me will always be yours, Trav.” You gave him small smile before singing that verse again as it was repeated.
“I've been told, I've been told to get you off my mind, but I hope I never lose the bruises that you left behind. Oh my lord, oh my lord, I need you by my side.”
Travis seemed to understand your involvement with the lyrics as he gave you a sad smile.
“I was such a coward. I’m sorry Y/N.” He brushed a tear away that had started to roll down your cheek. “I should have fought for us, instead I gave up on us. I thought that the only way to give you the freedom I promised you, was to let go of you, to leave you. I was too much of a coward to let you fly free, because I thought you’d slip away and then I lost you anyway. I know you wanted to get married too but I should have never put that much pressure on it. I’m truly sorry.”
You leaned you forehead against his as you still slowly moved with the music. The song had changed now.
“I know Trav. I know. Do you think that one day we can be Y/N and Travis again? I mean not the same as we used to but a grown version. Do you think it could work again?”
You could hear Travis holding his breath as he patiently listened to you. His eyes were trained on yours, searching for meaning behind your words.
“Yeah, I think so. If you give me another chance I will prove it to you. Okay?”
You felt your heart speeding up at his words. Take a chance, you thought, before life passes you by. But instead of answering you leaned in and slowly connected your lips with his. The kiss was slow almost shy at first before Travis started to deepen it. Once you broke apart Travis slowly stroked your cheek before murmuring,
“You’re my always, you know that right?”
 Epilogue:
The two of you took it slow afterwards. Both of you needed to get to know each other again, ease into each other again. But it felt right. Being with Travis had always felt right. Once your lease was up you move in with him and you were thankful that he wasn’t living in your old house anymore. As much as you loved your old place that you had together and all the memories that came with it, you needed something else. After all you weren’t the people that you used to be then. And that was a good thing.
He never asked you to marry him. One day a little box with an new engagement ring had just been placed onto your nightstand. Travis only comment to this was that he had already proposed to you and that this time you were calling the shots when you felt ready to marry him. And whenever you felt ready the ring would be there. He let the old engagement ring be made into a pendant since it was to meaningful to your relationship to give it away and to pretty to just let it sit in a box. And now you were wearing one around your finger and one around your neck, close to your heart as Travis liked to say.
And then the day was here. You knew you were ready but that didn’t mean that you weren’t feeling a tiny bit anxious about your wedding day.
Maddie looked over your shoulder and soothingly rubbed your back.
“You’re going to be the most beautiful bride.” She gave you one of her bright smiles.
You quietly laughed. “As if Maddie. You looked like some top model or something at your wedding. But I’ll gladly take second.”
Maddie erupted in laughter while you gave her a sly smile. Her expression turned serious again as she eyed the object in your hands.
“You’re gonna have to tell him eventually, Y/N.”
She was right, of course. And you knew you had to tell him sooner or later. You couldn’t keep it from him forever.
“I’ll go and get you something to drink, some water or something.” Maddie gave you a soft smile before making her way to the door. Just before she closed the door behind her you heard her say:
“What are you doing here? You’re not supposed to be here now…”
You felt like your heart stopped beating for a moment. An unwanted flashback crossed your brain.
The mental picture of Nolan making his way towards you with that cautious expression on his face.
“He’s not coming, Y/N.”  Those words would probably haunt you forever.
Just as you felt yourself starting to panic Travis appeared in the doorway and quickly closed the door behind him.
“Travis?!” You probably looked like you just saw the lochness monster or something. What was he even doing here?
He approached you with a sly smile on his face.
“Hey, babe.” “You’re not supposed to see me before the ceremony..” Your words lacked any kind of force or enthusiasm. And before you knew your soon to be husband had engulfed you in a hug.
“What? Who said that?” His voice was light, almost joking.
“It brings bad luck or misfortune if the groom sees the bride before the ceremony.” Your explanation sounded lame and you were actually happy to see him even if your initial surprise might let him believe otherwise.
He chuckled before giving you a quick kiss on the lips. “Ahh, that sounds pretty stupid. And you can’t blame me for wanting to say good morning to my wife.”
His eyes searched for yours while he gave you his brightest smile. You couldn’t help but chuckle at his antics. Then you remembered the object you’d held in your hands just a few moments before and you got serious again. Now was as good of a moment than ever.
“There’s something I have to tell you.” You felt yourself grow nervous, you knew there was no reason for it but you couldn’t help it.
“Don’t tell me you want to run away this time.” He was joking, a smirk plastered all over his face.
“Travis I’m serious!” At that his smile dropped. Uncertainty crossed his features.
You grabbed the little square paper you had put down moments ago.
“I’m pregnant.” You breathed out while handing him the ultrasound. His eyes nearly popped out of his head while he stared at the picture.
“I.. I … You..” He seemed lost for words and you were almost starting to get worried when he lifted him head up and looked into your eyes. He seemed to explode with happiness.
“I’m going to be a dad? This is not a joke right? We’re having a baby?” You could just nod as he picked you up and spun you around.
“Oh my god, this is the best day of my life.” He nearly knocked his head with yours as he dove in to give you a deep kiss. Once you pulled apart and you found your breath you spoke up.
“Promise me something, Travis. Promise me you won’t run again. Promise me that you’ll fight for us no matter what we face. Don’t ever let me go again, Trav.”
“Never! I promise.”

so remember last july when i thought to myself, "haha, wouldn't it be cool if i made a mechsona?"
well, turns out a year of living with that thought in the back of your head will only get you 4,977 nearly 5,000 words of backstory and a spotify playlist, so, solid 7/10 experience
(okay look, Day 2 of the Mechtober prompts was the most coincidentally perfect overlap of "Mechsona" and "Blood," so I finally decided to stop being a coward and actually let people who aren't my classmates see this. ALSO, quick warnings for violence and death, if you're a bit squeamish about those sorts of things. So, with that said, the story itself...)
Introducing!
La Vie en Rouge
Dear Reader:
In this strange world, so bright and so bold
You may, somehow, find a Tale Yet Untold
You could read one now, if you so choose
This Tale- of the Blood-Red Dancing Shoes.
It had started like any other day. And not even an interesting kind of “any other day,” like a Saturday, which always promises adventure, or a Thursday, which has a tendency towards mystery. No, this was a Tuesday kind of “any other day,” which merely meant inescapable boredom.
At the very least, that’s how it started.
However, as Adeline Troffea was leaving her house, she heard the trumpets that signaled Lord Vitus’ arrival. She groaned. A visit from Vitus- sorry, His Most Esteemed Lord Vitus, she snorted as she mentally corrected herself- never went well. He was a deeply unpleasant person to be around, as he looked like a spoiled child and acted twice as bad. Additionally, he was usually about two seconds away from screaming nonsensically at any townsfolk who bothered him, like some sort of Saturday-morning-cartoon villain. Sometimes Adeline was sure he must be doing it on purpose- his ridiculous moustache (twirled oh-so-carefully at the ends), his pale skin and delicate hands (that had clearly never done anything harder than gesture dramatically from the shade provided by his servants), the too-fine crowns and jewels and capes his draped himself in (who even needed more than one crown? Isn’t that too excessive, even for Vitus?)- he couldn’t be for real, right?
Reader, Lord Vitus would prove himself to be more real than Adeline could imagine before this story’s end. But we’ll get to that in time.
Hopefully, Adeline thought to herself, walking down the well-trodden path into town, I can be in and out of the market before Vitus takes a single dainty step out of his carriage. Fabien, her best friend (practically an older brother, really) as well as the town’s shoemaker, had promised her something special today- an early birthday present, he had called it the day before, as the birthday in question was “an entire week and a day away” and he didn’t know if his “poor, old heart” would hold out that long.
“Fabien, you’re barely 30!” she had protested, shaking her head.
“I know, Addie, I’m ancient!” he’d moaned, before adopting the affectation of what was probably supposed to sound like an old man, but instead sounded more like a wheezing duck. “I can feel my brittle bones crackin’. They ain’t what they used to be, I tell ya. You know, when I was just a boy, I had to walk to school every day? Uphill! In the snow!”
“Both ways!” Adeline joined in before they both dissolved into laughter.
So now, here she was, in front of Fabien’s shop, feet tapping on the ground in a sort of nervous excitement. Gingerly, she opened the door.
“Hello?” she called. The response came from somewhere in the back of the shop.
“Ah, Addie! What a surprise! What sort of thing-that-I-totally-don’t-know-about brings you here today?”
She rolled her eyes as she began to make her way through the shelves and around the cobbling stations to the back of the building. “You know, it’s a funny story actually, but my best friend- well, former best friend, I should say-” she was cut off by a sharp laugh as she turned the next corner and came face to face with Fabien, holding a beautiful red box.
“‘Former best friend?!’ Is that any way to treat someone who’s gotten you such a spectacular present?” he asked, schooling his face into an over exaggerated pout.
“It is if they’re going to be stupidabout it,” she replied, yanking the present from his hands with ease. Fabien made a wounded sound, and Adeline stuck her tongue out in response before opening the lid of the box.
Inside was the most beautiful pair of tap shoes Adeline had ever seen. The leather they were made of was white as freshly fallen snow, and the perfect balance between flexible and sturdy. She turned them over in her hand and gasped, brushing her finger over the engravings on the metal taps.
“Roses,” Fabien smiled softly, “because I know they’re your favorite.”
Overwhelmed, Adeline could only set the shoes aside for a moment and tackle Fabien in a hug. And for that one shining moment, everything was perfect.
“Oh, I simply must have these!” a haughty voice sang out behind Adeline, who jumped at the sudden noise. Standing there was none other than Lord Vitus himself, bedecked in his finest golden cape, and holding- oh no, absolutely not. Before she could even register her own movements, she yanked her shoes back.
“No, you simply mustn’t have these, actually,” she quipped in that same snooty tone, stuffing the shoes back in the box, before suddenly realizing what exactly she had done. Refusing the Lord? Taking things right out of his hands? Mocking him to his face? How could she possibly get out of this?
Clearly, there was only one answer.
She bolted.
She heard Vitus’ petulant cry of “After her!” ring out from behind, and then the heavy sound of soldiers’ footsteps, but she dared not look back. Instead, she ran harder, her mind racing almost as fast as her feet. There had to be someplace to hide. She turned a corner, onto a smaller side street. She couldn’t go home, it was too far away. She burst out onto another street before turning abruptly, one hand wrapping around a streetlamp to keep her momentum as she flew back where she’d just come from, the soldiers falling over themselves in their confused haste. But there were so many soldiers, and there was no way she could outrun them forever.
She ducked into a dark alley for a moment, throwing herself behind a couple of barrels just as the men appeared at the mouth of the alley. She held her breath as they hurried past her, trying not to catch their attention with her heaving gasps. And this is why I’m a dancer, not a runner, she thought, half delirious on a cocktail of exhaustion and adrenaline. Could it have been minutes? Hours? All the streets had blended together long ago, and her muscles ached with exertion. Unintentionally, she closed her eyes, just for a moment.
A strong hand clamped down on her shoulder and Adeline’s blood turned to ice in her veins as her eyes shot open again. Her despairing cry was cut short as another hand covered her mouth. She shook her head wildly, terror taking over, before she caught the gaze of her captor.
Fabien.
Adeline felt her entire body sink back in relief with his appearance. Slowly and ever-so-softly, Fabien removed his hand from her mouth, making a shushing motion before Adeline could even open her mouth to ask what was going on. He carefully undid the buttons of his cloak, taking if off of himself and wrapping it around Adeline. It dangled loosely from her small frame, making her look even smaller. A disguise, she noted distantly, hiding in plain sight. Once he’d secured it around her shoulders, Fabien began to explain.
“Everyone’s pretty proud of you, you know, standing up to Vitus like that. I know you’ve always been a bit of a wildcard, but that was even better than expected. You should have seen his face when you ran, oh my-”
Adeline made a small noise of distress. She hadn’t been making a statement, she’d been making a mistake! It was all a big misunderstanding, and now she was going to be killed, or worse, and she hadn’t even had the chance to wear her beautiful birthday shoes, and-
Fabien shook her gently, murmuring comforts, and she took in a shuddering breath, focusing back on him.
“You’ve been brave enough today. Let me take a turn, okay?” he said softly, gesturing at the shoebox. Without waiting for a response, he grabbed it from her still shaking hands. In seconds, he had pried open the lid, taken the shoes out, and tucked them into the inside pockets of the cloak Adeline now wore, continuing to talk as he did so.
“The village has been giving Vitus the run-around all day, trying to keep him off your trail, and honestly, I’m not sure he’s noticed. That man is so far up his own ass that I genuinely think he can’t even comprehend the thought of people working against him.” Fabien smiled a bit as Adeline giggled weakly. “Just keep a low profile. We won’t let anything happen to you. Promise.”
For a moment, Adeline was so overcome with emotion that felt like her legs might give out underneath her. Instead, she threw herself forward and hugged him, wrapping her arms around him as tightly as she could.
“Thank you, so much. For everything.”
Fabien squeezed her in return.
“Nothing to thank me for, Addie.”
It was at this moment the sound of soldiers came rushing back, hurling them both back into reality. In a flash, Fabien pulled the cloak’s hood up, casting Adeline’s face in shadow. He gave her a little push towards the other end of the alley, nodding reassuringly. Adeline took a deep breath, steeling herself, before walking, confidently as she could, back out onto the crowded street.
There were soldiers everywhere, knocking on doors, stopping bystanders and asking them about Adeline’s whereabouts. A customer just coming out of the bakery- Monsieur LeClair, she noted- was having one such conversation… if one could call “a man taking obnoxiously large bites out of a muffin and then speaking with his mouth full, spraying bits of food directly into the soldiers’ faces” a conversation. As the soldiers hurriedly excused themselves, disgustedly wiping the muffin bits from their faces, Monsieur LeClair caught Adeline’s eye and winked. She smiled and bowed her head in return before scurrying off again. As she made her way to the town square, she passed at least a dozen or so variations on this conversation- townsfolk left and right making excuses, even outright lying to the soldiers, distracting them long enough for Adeline to slip away, towards the town square.
Vitus was exactly where she thought he would be- right in the middle of the town square, complaining loudly to anyone who would listen (and all those who wouldn’t). She leaned against the brick wall of the closest building, trying to make herself look as small and unassuming as possible. She bit her lip as she thought through possible escape scenarios, keeping Vitus in her peripheral vision, right up until-
“We found the shoemaker, Your Lordship, but no sign of the girl or the shoes.”
Adeline felt her heart stop as her head turned on autopilot. A crowd had gathered in the square, following three figures that Adeline loathed to recognize as Fabien and Lord Vitus’ men. One soldier shoved Fabien down roughly, while another threw the shoebox down with such force that it popped open, revealing its empty inside.
Vitus rolled his eyes at Fabien, looking bored out of his mind. “Where are they?” he sighed.
“Where are what, My Lord?” Fabien asked through gritted teeth.
At this, Vitus seemed to revert to an overgrown toddler.
“My shoes! They were so very pretty and I wanted them, but that little wretch stole them from me and ran off and I want them baaaack!”
Fabien, still on his knees, snorted.
Vitus blinked, clearly surprised. Suddenly, another laugh joined in, and another, and another, and in seconds the entire crowd was laughing at this grown man’s tantrum. Even Adeline found herself giggling, albeit shakily.
It was as though Vitus had only just now realized what kind of a predicament he was in. No one was going to give up the shoes, or the girl, and to make matters worse, they weren’t going to take him seriously either. He glanced nervously around the crowd for a moment before his lip curled and his nose scrunched up, as though he had just smelled something particularly unpleasant. Standing to his full height, he raised his voice.
“You have one week to hand over the shoes! If you do not, there will be, shall we say… severe consequences.” He turned around dramatically, which reignited the snickering, and quickly made his way back to his carriage processional.
As the carriages rattled away, Adeline was struck by an idea. It was a bad idea, she knew, and probably too risky, but she had already defied the odds once today, and with the adrenaline still coursing through her veins, she felt unstoppable. She nimbly climbed to the roof of the nearest building to pay her respects, so to speak, waving in the direction of Vitus’ window. She ripped off her hood dramatically, snorting when Vitus’ face contorted in rage. And as her heart sang with love for her town and her people, her feet were helpless to dance along for all the world to see. From her perch on the roof, she watched the other townsfolk join her in celebration, dancing in their own little ways. Madame Beaumont lifted her son Jean into the air, spinning him around as he giggled. Michel Rousseau was doing a little shoulder shimmy. Even Old Lady Coralie was dancing a little two-step. Adeline beamed at them all before turning toward Fabien. Several people were still gathered around him, making sure he wasn’t too hurt, and Adeline almost climbed right back down to join them. But, as though he could sense her worry, Fabien looked up suddenly at met her eyes. He smiled at her before winking conspiratorially. Relief flooded through her as she winked back- a sign that everything was going to be okay, and one she believed wholeheartedly.
Just before she climbed back down to go home, she chanced a glance back at Vitus’ carriage. For a second Vitus met her eye, his glare an ice cold promise of revenge. Adeline shivered under the threat, before gathering herself just enough to make a rude gesture back at him. The distressed shriek that followed was music to her ears.
That pompous man-child had it coming anyway, Adeline thought, and resolved to put the matter out of her mind. Of course, Reader, it wasn’t so simple as that, but let it not be said that she didn’t try her best to hide her misgivings from everyone, even herself.
After what was probably too many hugs goodbye, even for her, Adeline finally made her way back home with her new shoes. The moment she closed her door, she slumped against it and slid down to the floor, exhausted and terrified. Her eyes stung with unshed tears as she recalled the look in Vitus’ eyes as he took his leave. She was no fighter! She had no money, no strength, no prospects- no hope. How could she possibly try to stand up to the army Vitus would surely bring back with him? And she couldn’t- wouldn’t- put her people in danger like this, not after they’d already done so much for her. That’s it, she thought, rubbing her eyes, she would go right back to the village and work something out with everyone else, something to keep everyone safe and out of harm’s way before Vitus could return.
But as she opened her eyes again, her gaze fell upon the shoe box, lying on the floor beside her. The shoes themselves had tumbled out from her little outburst, and they almost seemed to be calling to her, begging her to at least try them on, to dance in them. And after so much trouble, how could she possibly refuse?
The shoes were a perfect fit- of course they were, they were literally made for her, she thought as she snickered a little under her breath. Watching herself carefully in the mirror, she raised her right foot ever so slightly before kicking it forward in a test shuffle. She smiled. The sound of metal against the waxed wood floor was perfection. Unable to help herself, she hummed a little tune, matching each note with another step- a cramp roll here, a paradiddle there, a set of triple time steps- she was in her element as she lost herself to the dance.
Dancing in the shoes filled her with such joy that she really could almost forget about the whole thing with Vitus. Adeline knew he wouldn’t take this lying down, and with his power and resources- she knew she had to be prepared. First thing in the morning, I promise I’ll figure out a plan, she reasoned. It’s not as though he could even attack tonight anyway.
So she danced and danced and danced, until the day finally caught up with her, and she quite abruptly fell asleep, not even bothering to take off her new shoes.
That night, Adeline had the strangest dream. She- no, the whole town, was dancing to song unlike any she’d heard before. It almost… hurt, in a way, to listen to, and yet she was sure it was the most beautiful melody she had ever heard. It felt as though it had wormed its way into her soul, her very existence, and intertwined itself so deeply that it might never leave. For a moment, Adeline felt fear, the likes of which she’d never known. She tried to wake herself up, to scream for to someone to help her, to do something, anything to stop this, but she couldn’t move, couldn’t breathe, couldn’t stop-
And then Calm washed over her completely, every other thought and sensation lost to the ocean of the strange melody as it lulled her back to sleep.
When she opened her eyes the next morning, it was to find that the song had followed her into the waking world. She knew something was wrong, but as she tried to figure it out, every thought was just out of reach. She stumbled out of her room, towards the front door, but her limbs felt almost disconnected from her, almost as if they were being of their own. She slammed face-first into the door, and, for a split second, the ringing of her ears overpowered the music enough to. I need… help, right, that was it, I need help because of…
Because of……
The music, the music, the music- it consumed her every thought. Every step and every breath taken in time with that exquisite, unending song. Every note whispered sweet nothings in her ear, asking, pleading, begging her to join them and become beautiful too, until she was helpless to resist any longer. Until finally, she began to dance.
And dance, dear Reader, she did.
She found herself completely at the mercy of the music as it maneuvered her around like a marionette. She was only vaguely aware that she had somehow made it to the town square, and that several of her concerned neighbors were trying to talk to her, but nothing could break through the haze of the music.
As the day went on and on, passersby occasionally stopped to try to rouse her from her state, all to no avail. It seemed there was no way to reach her, and as night fell, they stopped trying. The light of the moons illuminated her as she danced, and were it not for the sound of the metal in her shoes they might have assumed her some dark spirit. Perhaps some still did. But the fact remains that all the townsfolk, save one, eventually found their way to sleep, secure in their ignorance of the events to come.
The next morning, as the suns rose over the horizon, the people of Strasbourg woke to the sight of not one, but two figures dancing in the square. By breakfast, it had been made a dozen. By lunch, it was nearly half the town. And by 8:46 pm, on the dot, all 398 residents of Strasbourg had found themselves unwilling victims of the dance.
Reader, there are many things I wish I could tell you.
I wish I could tell you that the dancing stopped just as strangely and suddenly as it began, and it became a scary story told for many generations. Or else, I wish I could tell you that the townsfolk found a way to weaponize their dancing and rose up against Lord Vitus, and discovered the cause of their dance- a machine of Vitus’ cruel creation, designed to transmit an almost imperceptible signal into the minds of those who heard it and drive them to madness. Picture it now, Reader: Vitus, stroking a gloved hand down the side of the machine as its whistles blew and the steam that rose from the spouts shrieked, the sound of his dastardly laughter barely audible over the chaos, until it was suddenly cut short by the doors to the hall as they opened with a BANG, and Vitus would finally come face to face with the consequences of his actions.
But more than all that, I wish I could tell you Adeline never remembered what happened as she danced. That for the seven days and seven nights that she danced in the town square, without food, without water, without rest, she was never aware of the fact that everyone she had ever known lay dead or dying at her feet.
None of these things are true, of course. The dance continued, the machine was not destroyed, and as the days passed Adeline slowly became more and more conscious. She watched, helpless, as all around her, her friends, her family, fell to the ground to dance no more. She yelled, screamed, pleaded to anyone who would listen, to anyone who could help- and the only response she got was the answering cries of her village, getting smaller and smaller.
By the sixth day of the village’s dance, there was only one other person still dancing beside her. It was Fabien, because of course it was Fabien- she didn’t know if this was supposed to be a blessing or a curse, though she was leaning heavily towards the latter. His steps had been slowing and his wheezing had increased exponentially in the past few hours, and Adeline knew what was coming, even if she couldn’t bear to say it aloud. Fabien, on the other hand, had no such qualms.
“I did warn you,” he rasped, after a coughing fit had nearly sent Adeline into a heart attack of her own, “That I wouldn’t make it to your birthday. My heart is just so-”
“God, shut up, please, for once in your life just shut up!” She screamed, her voice breaking. Her outburst seemed to shock him, and she turned away before she could see the tears streaming down her cheeks. She took a shuddering breath before barreling on.
“Fabien, this is all my fault, I’m so sorry, I should have-” he made a sharp noise and she cut herself off, choking back a sob.
“Don’t you dare think, for even a moment, that this is your fault,” he whispered, sounding more serious than she had ever heard him. “We all made our own decisions, you and me and everyone else. This is not on you, even a little bit. It was my choice, and I would choose it in a million lifetimes, okay? I just-” Fabien dropped to his knees, gasping, legs shaking almost imperceptibly, and Adeline felt her heart shatter.
“Addie, I’m so sorry,” his every word sounding like it had been ripped from his throat, “I’m so sorry I couldn’t keep my promise.”
And with that, he, too, was gone, and Adeline’s last remaining hope had died with him.
Oh Reader, what could she do but cry? So she cried. She cried for Fabien, for Monsieur LeClair, for Madame Beaumont, for Michel Rousseau, for Old Lady Coralie, for every lost soul of Strasbourg, until only one remained- and only then did she cry for herself, dancing alone once more.
The tears still streamed down her face when Lord Vitus returned with only a small squadron the next day, a full week after Adeline’s dance had begun. Towering over them from atop his horse, Vitus called out to his men.
“Oh ho, what have we here? An entire village, destroyed by some sort of plague, it seems. What a tragic end… But look! It seems one still suffers. Let us put the poor thing out of its misery, shall we?”
The largest of their number stepped forward, an axe readied in his hands. An executioner, Adeline realized tiredly. He made his way towards her, gingerly maneuvering around the corpses littering the town square, and Adeline wished she still had the strength to huff out a laugh. To show respect for the dead, on the path to kill another? How utterly ridiculous! Without a sound, the executioner raised his axe above his head, and Adeline closed her eyes, prepared to meet her end.
“Wait!” Vitus’ whining cut through the air. “Bring her to me first! She has something of mine that I want back.”
The executioner shrugged, before lunging towards the unsuspecting Adeline and hefting her over his shoulder with a grunt. She struggled against him, as much as one can struggle with a body that refuses to stop dancing, but it made no difference- he was simply too strong. Within moments, she was set down before Lord Vitus.
“The shoes,” he demanded. “Hand them over.”
“Are you kidding me? All of this for some shoes?” Adeline whispered hoarsely. “Hundreds of people, an entire town, dead, because you couldn’t stand the thought of someone else wearing these stupid fucking shoes?”
Vitus sneered at her. “On the contrary- I’m killing you because of the ‘stupid fucking shoes,’ as you’ve so crassly called them. Everyone else was… shall we say, collateral damage.”
Adeline’s breath caught in her throat. Her village, her friends, her family- they weren’t even some kind of fucked-up punishment for her, to drive her mad with grief and guilt. They were just “collateral damage,” not even worth an afterthought in the mind of their murderer. Her rage boiled inside of her, and had Adeline been able, she would have killed the man herself just then.
“Oh no, look!” Vitus sounded so genuinely miserable that for a moment Adeline was taken aback. “You’ve gone and ruined them!”
She glanced down as Vitus gestured towards her shoes and saw it was indeed true. The once-pristine white was long gone; now the leather was completely stained through by her own blood.
Reader, do you know what she did then? Why, she did the only thing she could.
She laughed, Reader. She laughed for the first time in what felt like a lifetime, all her frustration and sorrow and fear and anger and fatigue welling up from within her as she faced this utterly ridiculous man. She laughed. And as Vitus’ disappointment turned to shock, then to an angry pout, she laughed even harder. Even the dance, for a moment, seemed to laugh with her, each shuffle taking on the tone of ha-ha, ha-ha.
Finally, Vitus had had enough. He struck her, clean across the face, and for a moment, the laughter ceased as she gasped in pain.
“You know, I think they look better this way,” she drawled after catching her breath. “The red really brings out my eyes.”
Lord Vitus, clearly having expected Adeline to fall to her knees and grovel for forgiveness (fat chance, she thought, even if I hadn’t been cursed), puffed up like a particularly unpleasant frog as he spluttered through some sort of retort. Even his stupid moustache seemed to puff up with him, Adeline noticed in tired amusement, as he finally settled on, “W-W-Well, I never!”
He turned away from her sharply and caught the eye of the executioner. Adeline’s stomach dropped as Vitus’ face returned to that arrogant smile. He looked back at her, malice gleaming in his eyes, and addressed her once more.
“I do soapologize, it seems that I have forgotten myself for a moment. I am, however, fully prepared to make it up to you. You see, I do, in fact, possess the antidote to your little ‘Dancing Plague,’ as it were, and I would be delighted to offer you the cure.”
Adeline couldn’t see it, but as she felt movement at her back, she knew what was about to happen. In one final act of defiance, she spat at Vitus, who squealed as he tried, and failed, to avoid it. He huffed once more as she laughed at him, before screeching his final command.
“A PERMANENT CURE!”
And with that, Adeline felt pain explode in her legs, near blinding in its intensity. For a moment, a scream overpowered the music, and it took a moment longer to realize the scream was her own. She blinked though unnoticed tears to look up -when had she fallen- at Vitus, but she couldn’t quite focus on him -or anything else. She felt so -tired sick- dizzy, and she wanted nothing more than to close her eyes and –die- rest. But the pain in her legs screamed for her attention, and as she dragged herself up, she realized why.
At its simplest, a cure is just a way to remove a problem. It doesn’t need to be as advanced as a vaccine, or as complicated as the witches’ remedies of old. In fact, Lord Vitus’ antidote was both exceedingly simple and remarkably effective.
The permanent cure for the Dancing Plague? Simply remove the problem.
Namely, the legs.
How strange, she thought, in that last moment of lucidity, as she stared at the legs- her legs- lying on the ground a few feet away. I almost expected them to keep dancing.
And with that, she fell, lifeless, to the ground.
But Reader- she did not die.

Mental Health Strategies
I have dealt with various mental health BS (anxiety, depression, ADHD), and while I haven't gotten it all figured out, I have been dealing with it for well over a decade now. I figured I would make a list of coping mechanisms that have helped me and are worth trying out if you haven't already. None of these things are “magic” (just try this and your brain will be all fixed!),  and obviously not applicable in all situations. I mostly learned these via therapy or from other people struggling with mental illness. This also may or may not be to help me have a list of things written down for when I forget.
Putting this below a keep reading thing because this got long FAST:
For depression funks:
-Find a small task you can complete. Wash a dish, throw clothes in the hamper, take out the trash, etc. Something small.
-Take a shower. And try changing clothes. Even if it's in to some pajamas. If you aren't up to showering, try washing your face and maybe wiping down with a wipe. But a change of clothes will still feel better.
-Eat something. Doesn't have to be "healthy." Some food, no matter what it is, is better than no food.
-Can you get outside? Doesn't have to be to excercise. Just sitting on the front steps for a few minutes in the sun.
-Doing something to take care of yourself. Can you brush your teeth? Have a glass of water? Brush your hair? Just pick one thing and so it.
-Plan something. See if you can get a friend to meet you to hang out (or zoom) or maybe for dinner. For yourself, maybe find a movie to go see (post pandemic). Preferably find something that has a set time.
For panics:
- Square breathing. Breathe in for 5, hold for 5, breath out for 5, hold for 5. Repeat.
-There are a ton of meditations on youtube. Search "5 minute meditation" and you'll find a ton of videos.
-After the initial panic is over try calling a friend. If you can't for some reason (sometimes it's 3 am or your friend isn't available), try finding some cat videos on youtube. I highly recommend Cole and Marmalade. Something light that will get your brain on something else.
For Executive Dysfunction:
-Remove steps to putting things away. For awhile in school, I would have a mess of papers that weren't organized or put away because I was trying to use a binder. As silly as it sounds, having to neatly align paper holes or got find a place to punch those holes, would prevent me from putting things away. So I switched to folders. Suddenly I stopped losing things and my papers were organized.
-Bullet journaling. Or rather, I just have a little notebook where I put all my to do lists, grocery lists, project planning, brainstorming, etc. I don't properly Bullet Journal (TM) but I keep all my lists in one spot and it helps.
-To do lists in general. Writing out steps to get something done. Cross things out when you finish them. You get a better sense of accomplishment.
-When executive dysfunction is preventing you from getting out of bed, break it down. Step one, sit up. Step 2, swing legs over side. Step 3 stand up.
-Same with any task. If it seems too overwhelming or you just can't bring yourself to do it, it might be because you are looking at all the steps and feeling it's too much. So just think about the first one.
-Alarms and reminders. I put everything on a calendar in my phone. Google Calendar allows you to set a reminder for events days, weeks, hours, and minutes ahead. You can also set alarms for things like "I know I need to leave at 3 for the appointment, so I am going to set an alarm for 2:45 to start getting ready." Do not rely on yourself to look at the clock. YOU WILL NOT LOOK AT THE CLOCK IN TIME.
-Set the dang alarm clock across the room. That way, you gotta get out of bed to turn it off. Once out of bed, go take any meds, or if you don’t have meds, go do a small morning task. Usually doing this small task is enough to get me awake enough to not get back into bed. If I do, well, at least I have taken my meds.
Sensory Issues:
- Fitted sweat pants and hiking pants. I can’t stand tight clothing, but I want to look presentable. Sweatpants that taper can still look decent. Travel pants or hiking pants (you can find these at places like REI), basically look like slacks but are made out of stretchy material. They also usually are made out of quick dry material which is nice.
-Fidget and sensory toys. I really like hedgehog rings which have these little spikes on them I can run my thumb over. Also the tangle. I have a tangle that has a rubber coating that has little bumps on it. What you end up liking might differ, but those are two of my favorite. Also, if anyone gives you shit about these, you can explain “it’s sorta like a stress ball, but instead you [whatever you do with this fidget toy].”
-Ear plugs. I wear these a lot because I have particular issues with sounds, especially certain ones. I prefer either silicone gummy ones or I like these that are “slim” because they don’t make my ears hurt. You can also get musician ear plugs that are made for musicians to protect their hearing, but still be able to hear tones and what is going on, for when sound is simply too load (also good for concerts).
For General ADHD things:
-Work somewhere different. This is a bit limited due to the pandemic currently, but just working at the kitchen table instead of your bedroom can help. In college, I used to go to the library to work. Just the idea that I was going to someplace specific to do a specific task, helped me actually get started.
-Promise yourself that you will work for 10 minutes. Set an alarm if needed. Usually just starting will make the task seem less intimidating. If 10 minutes is too much, do 5.
-Cardio. Get your self moving. This is good for a lot of things, but I highly recommend it for before you have to sit down to work on a task, like school work. I personally run, but if that’s not your thing dance, a class, walking, biking, etc. Just whatever you like.
-Time dependent things are good to get yourself going. Again, this is limited by the pandemic, but for normal times, can you meet a friend for breakfast? Can you schedule your appointment so you have to get to it before you start work? When I was in college, I used to go to morning gym classes before my first class of the day. This got me up and if I was 5 minutes late, it was better to do that for a gym class than a physics class. Bonus because it was exercise and I could focus better on the class.
-In classes, try to find a notes buddy or study group. That way, if you zoned out a moment, you can ask them for the notes from that section and vice versa. Also, meeting up with them is a great way to have a set time to study.
For General Anxiety/ Depression:
-This is going to sound cheesy as fuck, but: Make a list for what you are good at. Things you like about yourself. Things you have accomplished. They don’t have to be super deep, but can be. Do you like your nose? Can you paint your nails well? Are you good at understanding your cat? Are you good at writing? Drawing? Did you overcome a bad test and still manage to pass a class?  If you have a friend or significant other that you are comfortable with, ask them to help maybe. Keep this list for when you feel like shit.
-Yoga. I’m sorry to put this on here because it seems like the most neurotypical advice, but. I honestly love this shit. If you haven’t given it a shot, there’s a reason why people like it. You don’t have to belong to a gym to try it. I highly recommend Yoga with Adrienne. She has some great beginner videos.
-Take breaks from social media and news as needed. Seriously. You are a single person and can’t fix everything. Do what you can (share the information, make a donation, join in mutual aid efforts, etc.) but doom scrolling and obsessing won’t help anyone. If you won’t do it for yourself, consider that burning yourself out will make you unable to help later on.
-Create things. They don’t have to be amazing. Crocheting, knitting, drawing, writing, etc. Having something that you can look at and be like “I made that” is really satisfying. Youtube has some great tutorials for pretty much anything. For drawing, I really like Proko. He has some great videos on drawing faces. But again: IT DOESN’T NEED TO BE GOOD.
General Resources/ Advice:
-If you are currently in college, most campuses will have groups for counseling and even limited one on one sessions. Usually, these counseling groups are free and the one on one sessions can help you find a counselor nearby.
-How to ADHD. Seriously I love this youtube channel. She goes over how ADHD affects the brain and has seriously helped me understand it better.
-The Trevor Project. For LGBTQ teens and youth. They have a hotline and many other resources.
-If what is stopping you from getting therapy is the idea that you are being dramatic/ are not that bad/ others have it worse: Go get therapy. What are we going to do, find the one person who has it the worst off than anyone and only they are allowed to feel bad and get help? Screw that. Get some help.
-Remember that there are good things in your future. Where ever you are in life, you have something positive in your future, even if you don’t know it yet. One day, there will be a moment when you look back on the dark times and be so glad you didn’t give up.

the start of something new
Pairing: Bryce Lahela x F!MC (Alessia Lyxienne)
Rating: G and very fluffy!
Word Count: 1787
Summary: An AU where bryce and alessia becomes study buddies through a cup of cappuccino.
Prompts: @choicesjunechallenge2021 : Day 2 - cappuccino.
A/N: Day 2 of my writing streak for our boy - Bryce hehe ! Its an AU where MC is also a student at Stanford with Bryce - and where he works part-time as a barista there! The concept is very cute, and I hope y'all love it! Shoutout to @appiomofchoice again for the help and the support <33 (I apologize for any grammar mistakes since english is not my first language and such, enjoy!)
During her time here, she discovered a vintage café away from campus – and since then, it's been her studying nook. It was never crowded or filled with people unlike the ones in the campus radius. The atmosphere was calm, as the customers weren’t as crowded. She was known as a local there among the workers. The baristas knew her name and her usual order, especially during the afternoons. But, today was an exception as she needed the night to study for her anatomy test tomorrow afternoon.
Stanford’s exam season came rolling in a blink of an eye. The library was occupied, as every seat was filled with students preparing themselves for the season. As for one Alessia Lyxienne, she prefers to study with the comfort of a hot drink – either to give her a sense of comfort or as a boost for her to survive the whole day while indulging herself in a textbook filled with words.
The music playing in the background was a reverb tune, as she smiles over the scent of brewed coffee and pastries. She walks upon her usual seat, before getting into the line. As it was her turn to order – she stumbled upon a familiar face from her anatomy class; the infamous Bryce Lahela.
“Welcome, what would you like to order?” He looks up and smiles over the familiar face.
“Are you from Dr. Lizza’s anatomy class today? You looked familiar.” She smiles before nodding to the question.
“Yes, I’m Alessia. And, you are the ‘infamous’ Bryce Lahela then?” She nods towards his name tag on his apron.
“The one and only.” He smiles at her, as she continues to convo.
“I never knew you worked here, despite being quite a regular here.” She raised an eyebrow at him in curiosity.
“I heard about you, my buddy Mikayla would talk about this one girl who ordered the same order every time she came in – and, here you are.”
Alessia nods in confirmation,
“Hey, they served a good cup of cappuccino here – and, maybe there’s a new reason for me to keep coming back here.” She winks at him – clearly surprised herself upon the sudden flirtation going on. She examined him, as the brown eyes of his shine brightly as the attire looks adorable on him. She tries to remember him – how he looked like during classes, however, this is the first time she saw him close.
“Maybe if you play your cards right – I’ll treat you to a cappuccino made by yours truly. The best this town will ever have.” He challenges her, as she nods in resolute with a pinch of excitement in her.
Bryce nods to the customer in the back, as Alessia immediately orders her usual. A cup of cappuccino and a side of chocolate croissant.
“I’ll send it to you later.” He winks before passing the change – as Alessia returns a smile his way.
-
A couple of minutes had passed, as Alessia began to revise some of the terms in her textbook once more. Recalling each term one-by-one, before she was interrupted by the scent of coffee itself. There he was holding the tray her way, as she helped him with the contents.
“Thank you, Bryce.” She states as Bryce nods – his eyes fall onto the familiarity of the terms on the table.
“Studying for the test tomorrow?” She nods, as she took a small sip of the drink.
“Yeah – I need to get some of the terms in my mind. It's gonna be a long night – but, I got coffee.” She held on to the cup with a proud expression on her face.
Bryce laughs, his voice sounds rich to the ears as she wanted to hear it again.
“My shift ends in a little bit, but wanna study together?” His sudden question makes her froze, somehow shocked but, she nods regardless – and immediately she wanted to kick herself in the face for acting like a weirdo in front of the man.
“Yes, sure! Yes.” She replies with quite an enthusiasm before he left the table. She mentally scolds herself for the awkward replies but, smiles regardless before continuing to focus on her notes.
-
It was an hour later, as the clock strikes at 10 p.m. However, Alessia manages to get her studying done a bit – as Bryce came to her table joining her along the way.
“It's already closing time, but we could stay a bit since I’ll be closing the shop tonight.” He stated as a backpack was brought with him.
“Lahela, good luck with the test tomorrow! And, wait a minute – both you and Alessia are in the same class? It’s a small world after all.” Mikayla winks at him, as she waved goodbye at them both.
“You know her?” Bryce asked suddenly at the sudden wink which was thrown their way.
“Yes, since I become a regular – she was the one whose cappuccino I kept coming back to. And, we become quite close since then.” Bryce nods at the response.
“Well, how about I treat you to another Bryce special before we began the new session shall we?”
“Let’s see if it can beat Mikayla’s recipe shall we?” She jokes as he started to make the drinks for their late-night session.
-
“Here let me pay for the extra one.”
He stops her before the money lands on his hands.
“It’s on me – as for saying yes to this study session.” He says as she nods excitedly – sipping the drink with an astonished look on her face.
“This is much better! But, don’t tell Mikayla, she’ll kill me.” Bryce lets out a laugh, as he nods.
“My lips are sealed.” He acts as he zips his mouth before throwing the key away, making her filled with laughter.
They started to study together – and in between those moments; they began to get to know one another. In between moments, there were hidden glances and smiles, as they quiz one another in the dim light of the empty café. There were waves of laughter, smiles, and even competitive streaks between them both.
-
Hours later, it was already 1 a.m. as they finally left the café. Alessia waiting for Bryce as he closes it for the day, she smiles as he met her eyes.
“Is everything locked?”
“Done and done. Let’s go – it's already late, let me walk you back to campus.” He stated as they made their way along the pavement back to their dorms. They stopped at the front of the dorms, as they are saying goodbye.
“I had fun tonight – and studying with you was very very fun.” Alessia begins, as Bryce returns a smile to her statement.
“Hey, I did win during our rapid rounds – it was indeed very fun.”
“No, you won by half a point – it doesn’t count!”
He clicks his tongue her way, somehow they have known each other a whole lifetime – it felt comfortable being with him and honestly, she wants to see him again. Their laughter died down, as there was a silence that follows.
“Do you – maybe, wanna do this again tomorrow? After the exams, maybe at someplace other than the café?” He suddenly asks her, as she nods instantly – somehow as if he was reading her mind.
“Yes, I’d love to. But, I’ll treat you on the next meal – I know a place where they have the best food in the whole country.” She explains excitedly earning an eyebrow raised from Bryce himself.
“The best huh, well – I’ll accept, only if you let me treat you with the next cup of ala Bryce for you?”
“Deal!”
They both laugh, as they said their goodbyes. He waits for her a few moments, before going back to his room – a huge smile on his face, satisfied with the day. Little did he know, Alessia was smiling too for the same reason as well.
-
It was after the test, as they decided to meet up once again. She puts on a dress along with a jacket to complement her outfit with her hair up in a ponytail before meeting Bryce at the park for their adventure today.
“Hey!” She said, as somehow shocked at how they coordinated in their outfits today – it’s a coincidence indeed.
“Hi! Shall we began our adventure at and I quote ‘the best food in the country’ Ms. Lyxienne?” A tone of sarcasm can be heard in his voice.
She laughs as they began their adventure – and Bryce finally agrees that it is indeed one of the best food he has ever eaten, which she returns with a knowing grin on her face.
“Okay fine – you win. I’ll get you a cup then.” He rolls his eyes, however, the hint of a smile was still on his face as they made their final stop at the café once again.
They were greeted by Mikayla and Rowan who are working the night shift for the day. Alessia greeted them both, seem to know them despite not knowing that Bryce works there as well.
They sat on their seats before – somehow, a feeling of déjà vu from the day before made her smile.
“You know, as a regular – I have never seen you working here.” She begins as Bryce lets out a chuckle.
“I work only on specific days due to our studies. But, you did saw me – and here we are today.” He took a bite onto the pastry which is known as their supper for the night.
“Indeed, I would consider myself lucky than right?” She questions before taking a sip on her drink – a smile on her face.
The café becomes their usual spot together – as they grew closer every day. She wonders what if she didn’t come that night – how different their life could be, and yet here she is smiling once more – awaiting her special order by her boyfriend a few months later.
“Very lucky indeed.” He smiles back as they continue to get to know one another, for them it felt comfortable. The very definition of home, where it's warm and happy – as they talked about their future specialization that they would like to join, to topics about life. What makes them happy? What’s their favorite memory?
-
“Is it the usual?” She asks as Bryce smiles – presenting the drink on the table.
“One beautifully made cappuccino by yours truly for one beautiful lady here.” He says as he places a kiss on her cheek moving on to his other tasks.
She sips the drink slowly, as she began her study session – the feeling of déjà vu is coming back even months later and yet, she is happy with it - they are indeed very happy.
THE END.

Cultivating Vegetables: Fabaceae Family
Peas, broad beans, runner beans, French beans, Lima beans, soy beans, and peanuts are all members of the Fabaceae family. This family is the most useful for those looking to grow their own food because it provides the most protein and because of it's nitrogen-fixing ability.
Peas:
Fresh peas in the summer are one of the greatest rewards from the garden. Later in the season they can be also cooked and dried. They are a great source of nourishment and can even work in a small garden by growing dwarf peas.
Soil & Climate: Peas aren't fussy when it comes to soil, light soil will give you an early crop and a heavy soil a late one, but rich loam is best (which can be achieved by adding lots of compost and organic material). Peas don't like acid soil, so if your pH is lower than 6.5 add lime. Peas grow well in cooler climates with plenty of moisture. If you live in a hot climate they may need to be grown in spring and fall to avoid the hottest times of year.
Propagation & Care: Make a trench with a hoe about 2 inches deep and 4 inches wide. Sprinkle the pea seeds evenly with about an inch or two between each. Rake the soil back into the trench and press down firmly. Give it a good soaking if the soil is dry which will start them growing. You can also speed up germination by soaking the seeds for up to 48 hours before planting.
Peas take about four months to grow to maturity. Sow some every fortnight from March to July to have fresh peas all summer.
Unless you're growing the smallest dwarf peas, they'll benefit from sticks to hold them up. Any branches with twigs left on will do or some course wire netting. Peas don't like drought, so watering in dry weather will result in more peas. However, don't water the foliage in muggy weather to avoid mildew and rot.
Harvesting: Use both hands to pick peas, holding the vine in one hand and the pod in the other. Very young peas are delicious and full of vitamins A, B, and C. They are super sweet and packed with sugar! A few hours after picking this sugar turns to starch (that's why store bought peas taste like nothing but mush) so eat them fresh or freeze them immediately to preserve the sugar.
As peas grow older and tougher on the vine you'll need to boil them. You can also leave them on the vine to keep getting tougher and tougher until they're completely ripe and hard, then pull the vines out and hang them up. Once the vines dry thresh the peas out and store them to be boiled at a later time.
Broad Beans:
For the self-sufficient gardener, broad beans are one of the most important crops. They'll keep you fed right through the year with their high protein content.
Soil & Climate: Broad beans like strong, compost rich soil. They are very similar to peas in terms of their climate preferences, but they're more hardy than peas and can be planted out later in the autumn. Broad beans also don't like acid and prefer of pH of 6.5 or higher. Broad beans benefit from potash and comfrey leaves as a green manure if you have access to them.
Propagation & Care: If you live in a climate that doesn't receive heavy snows, sow your broad beans in autumn. If it's too cold where you are, sow them as early in the spring as you can. Soak the seeds for 24 hours prior to planting. Dig trenches 3 inches deep and about 2 feet apart and sprinkle the seeds 6 inches apart in each one.
Adding mulch between your plants is helpful. If your beans are planted someplace windy or exposed you may want to stake each corner of the row and run a string from stake to stake to keep the beans from falling over. In most gardens though this isn't necessary.
Harvesting: Snip the tips of growing broad beans in the spring to thwart black fly, these tips are some of the tastiest fresh greens of the springtime. Soon after this you can start pulling the small pods and cooking them as they are. Later in the season the pods get tougher and must be split open and the beans removed. When the seeds too get too touch let them dry on the plant and harvest by pulling the entire plant. Hang the plants up and shuck the seeds when they're completely dry and store. Soak dried beans for at least 24 hours before cooking and boil them well.
Runner Beans:
Both beautiful and nutritious, the runner bean is an ideal plant for a small-scale vegetable garden.
Soil & Climate: Runner beans are not frost hardy and prefer a warm sunny climate, although this isn't essential. In warm climates it can survive the winter underground and grow up again in spring as a perennial. In cold climates you can sow indoors and plant outside after the last frost. Runner beans need lots of moisture at the roots and need rain showers or watering to flower. It grows well in most soils but prefers rich ones with plenty of humus and moisture. 6.5 pH is ideal, so lime if lower.
Propagation & Care: In autumn, dig a deep trench and fill it with muck, compost, or any other organic matter you can find. In the spring cover the trench with soil and plant on that. Sow after the last frost 3 inches deep and 10 inches apart.
Before your runner beans are too tall, stake them with at least 7ft tall stakes. They can climb as high as 12 feet and can make a great shade or privacy producer. They can also be planted in a circle by building a wigwam or tipi out of of poles, creating a little bean fort! The bean fort is honestly my favorite reason to grow runner beans.
Harvesting: Pick runner beans like peas, with both hands. Pick and pick again! Keep picking them while they're young and tender and try not to let them get old and tough on the vine. If you keep picking they'll keep growing!
French Beans:
Soil & Climate: Plant when the soil is warm in the summer. They prefer lighter soil and soils improved with compost, and again a pH of around 6.5. The more humus you can incorporate while digging the better!
Propagation & Care: Dig trenches two feet apart and sow the seeds 12 inches apart in each trench. Just keep your bed well weeded and the soil nice and loose!
Harvesting: Like the rest of the beans, you can eat the green pods with young beans inside or the ripened beans can be dried. Let them ripen on the vine, then pick and hang the vines upside down and thresh the beans out when fully dry.
Lima Beans:
Comes in both bush and climbing varieties.
Soil & Climate: Lima beans will need at least three months of fairly farm days and nights and the seeds need warm soil to germinate. Wait a few weeks after the last frost to plant and keep in mind the first frost of autumn will cut them down. Lima beans like light soil but will grow anywhere except heavy clay, they prefer a slightly acid soil around a pH of 6.
Propagation & Care: Sow seeds about 3 feet apart for bush varieties and 8 inches apart for climbing varieties. Bush limas should be in rows 30 inches apart and climbers in one row. Mulching is very valuable and the beans must be kept well watered!
Harvesting: For eating green, pick and pick again once the beans are swelling in the pod. Like runner beans they get tough when left on the vine too long. If you want to dry them for butter beans leave them on the plant until they're dry and thresh by walking on the plants or picking by hand.
Soy Beans:
Very high in protein, soy beans can be eaten fresh, dried, or crushed for their oil.
Soil & Climate: Soy beans only grow where it's warm. They love lots of organic matter and moist conditions and can tolerate slightly acid soils but aim for pH 6.5.
Propagation & Care: Sow outdoors in the early summer, typically when apple trees are in full bloom is the perfect time to sow soy beans. Plant 1 inch deep and 3 inches apart in rows. Make sure to weed rigorously and add mulch with compost if you can.
Harvesting: Pick soy beans and eat them whole or wait for them to ripen and steam or boil the pods before shelling them. You can also pull the plants and hang them to dry.
Peanuts:
Peanuts are packed with vitamins A, B, and E as well as protein!
Soil & Climate: Peanuts need a warm growing season of four to five months. They like sandy soil and actually prefer an acid soil, around pH of 5. Dig the soil deeply and incorporate lots of compost, but don't add lime for peanuts.
Propagation & Care: You can plant peanuts shells and all or shell them and plant the nuts. Plant shells 8 inches apart, nuts 4 inches apart. In warm climates plant 4 inches deep, in cool climates plant much more shallow around 1.5 inches deep in rows 30 inches apart. Plant right after the last frost to give them the longest growing season, especially in cooler climates. They may need to be started under glass or other protection if your climate is very cold. As they grow, raise the soil in a circle around the plant so the fruits growing at the end of the stems can easily bury themselves. Peanuts only ripen underground.
Harvesting: In a warm climate pull the vines when the leaves go yellow and hang them to dry. In cooler climates leave them under the first frosts, the nuts will keep ripening underground even if the leaves frost away. Before eating, roast your peanuts in the shells for 20 minutes in a 300 degree F oven and leave them to cool.

Note
Hey! can I request a bnha & death note romantic matchup?
I’m a Capricorn sun (cancer moon and libra rising) I have brown eyes and blonde hair (bleached) i’m 5’6 with a slim build. I love art like drawing and painting, art history, and baking! & actually majoring in biomedical engineering lol
I absolutely love to hang out with my friends and being spontaneous like just going out for coffee (im addicted to Starbucks and I’m lactose intolerant lol) or to a museum or just talking. I HATE bugs and I cry if one is ever near me lol.
I’m b l i n d so always wearing my glasses haha also I love having a sense of humor and i’m always making jokes out of everything. I also have anxiety and can be way too emotional sometimes. I’m an ENFP & also I love tie dye clothes, makeup, and everything pastel. (Definitely art hoe aesthetic)
My love language is probably receiving/giving gifts and words of affirmation.
My ideal date would probably be going out to eat, and to a museum or an aquarium or something fun that we can explore. I also love just going to the mall and walking around and I might be addicted to shopping. I really don’t like to be outside too much bc of the bugs so no hiking or camping or anything like that
Thank you sm!!
You didn’t put a gender preference, or if you did I missed it. Hopefully this is okay! If it’s not, I’ll gladly rewrite! <3
I match you with,,,
Tumblr media
Misa Amane!
Yeah she’s kind of a lot but she’s also very passionate when she believes in something,, in other words she’s borderline obsessed with you in a good way
Literally will not be leaving your side unless you force her away. She wants to be close to you at all times
Slightly a possessive thing, slightly just cause she likes talking to you, watching you do things, just being around you in general
Shopping dates! Oh my lord, the amount of time that she’s taken you shopping is insane
She always makes you try on things she finds cute, and makes you watch her try on cute stuff too
It’s fun for the both of you, and she has the money to be doing it all the time, so she figures why the hell not!
You know that photo of the girl doing the other girls makeup? Yeah, that’s you guys
She will gladly let you do her makeup if she thinks you’re good at it but she also really loves doing yours too
It can be a really intimate thing and she knows you’ll both come out looking cute af!
She gets being over emotional about everything, let’s be real, so she’ll try her best to understand
Hype queen! Will be complimenting you constantly!
She just says what she’s thinking most of the time, and she definitely thinks you’re absolutely gorgeous among every other positive word in the book, so she’s gonna make sure you know
Tumblr media
Izuku Midoriya!
He can also be a lot, in a completely different way, but honestly he’s just so sweet at the end of the day
Would adore to take you to a museum, or someplace similar, especially if it’s a museum of something he’s knowledgeable in, or something you’re knowledgeable in
He loves telling people information, but he also loves hearing people talk to him! Especially when it’s you, or it’s something you’re really into!
He is suuuppeeerrr understanding and patient, especially with you
If you’re ever anxious, he is quick to reassure you and he’ll 10/10 do whatever he can to make you feel better
He also doesn’t mind you having any “extra” strong emotions, I mean, he has some pretty intense emotions himself sometimes. It’d be hypocritical if he was bothered by it, haha!
His love language isn’t exactly words of affirmation, but more just encouragement
He gets too nervous trying to actually compliment you or anything of that sort, so he tends to just throw out anything motivating and positive he can think of!
Not super into impulse hang outs or last minute plans, but he’ll put up with them if you’re the one dragging him along
He does enjoy himself, it can just be jarring randomly being pulled into an outing like that! If it’s with you, he’s okay with it, though,,

How NCT 127 would confess to you
A/N: This took way longer than it was intended, but here it is! Hope you enjoy~
Taeil
Tumblr media
Taeil went over the plan at least 50 times to make sure the delivery would be as smooth as he hoped it would be
Probably couldn’t really sleep the night before cause what if you reject him????
Plans on singing a love song specially for you, like a private mini concert in a rented out café you two frequent a lot
When you get to your usual hangout spot, the lights were out and you were confused af
But then as the lights went back on again you saw Taeil standing on a makeshift stage and the café was decorated with cute fairy lights and balloons and all
Then music started playing as he serenaded you sweetly and honestly you were already sold from the minute he started singing ngl
Kinda messes up what he prepared to say to you afterwards because he doesn’t want to screw it up but also when he looks at you his mind kinda goes blank
So happy and relieved when you tell him the feeling’s mutual that he lowkey almost tripped on the way back to his seat cause he lost feeling in both his legs
Lots of shy and awkward gazing and blushing on both parts, but when you meet each other’s gaze he gives you the brightest smile ever
Overall just really adorable????
Johnny
Tumblr media
I swear 10/10 this guy had something elaborate and romantic planned out the moment he realized his feelings for you
Would probably pull out something kinda cheesy to impress you, like playing your favorite song on the piano (or teaching you how to play,       o o f)
I can see him taking you on walks around the city afterwards, someplace quiet with a nice scenery that would provide a nice backdrop for his confession
Tells you he’s gonna go pick up a call real quick, then kinda disappears
You get lowkey angry like wtf Johnny w h a t are you doing, but then he sends you text messages to a sort of scavenger hunt
Was actually planning on just telling you verbally what you mean to him and how he feels for you but then realized he’s not really good at doing that face to face so this is his fun alternative
Anyways, he gives you hints and directions through text message and at each ‘landmark’ he directs you to, you find small notes where he wrote down what exactly he likes about you and moments he realized he’s in love with you
Basically the boi wrote you a love letter but scattered around at least 7 different spots while he’s hiding who knows where
By the time you get to the final spot you see him standing in front of you with a large bouquet in his hands (for you) and this silly grin on his face
Lowkey almost moved you to tears as he told you he likes you
You spend the night looking at the stars and walking hand in hand as you two talk about anything and everything at the same time
Taeyong
Tumblr media
Y’know those smooth pick-up lines he pulls out of his sleeves? Yeah, prepare for those cause they are definitely coming your way
Would probably go for a sweet and sentimental confession
Lowkey tries to hint at his feelings for you by recommending love songs every now and then
One day he randomly shows up at your doorstep with your favorite flowers in one hand and a gift in the other (and also some snacks and sweets cause why the heck not)
I can see him gifting you something very meaningful, like a photo album with pictures of you two and places you went together or an entire playlist of songs that made him think of you
You thought it’d just be a normal hangout with your best friend
But then he tries to coyly recommend a song to you and asks you to listen to it and tell him what you think of it
5 seconds in you realize it’s actually him singing a self-made confession song for you
He gets embarrassed halfway through you listening to the song cause you keep staring at him with this touched expression on your face
But when the song’s over you’re just kind of left speechless until you tell him “me too.. I like you too” and it’s like his heart stopped skipping a beat and he was sent straight to heaven on earth
All in all just a really sweet and thoughtful confession asdfghjkl;
Yuta
Tumblr media
Ever since Yuta realized how he felt toward you, he’s been trying his best to not impulsively blurt out that he likes you, especially because he’s not sure if it’s mutual
Occasionally can’t help but murmur “you’re so cute” under his breath when he’s spending time with you though
You know he tends to be quite playful and flirtatious around you, so whenever he tries to make advances you just play it off as him joking around (half the time he’s actually seriously stopping himself from stealing a kiss ngl)
One day he decides to ask you out on a date over the phone and you agree thinking it’s just him being goofy again cause what else could it be??
Yuta takes you on a hiking date, aiming to take you to this nice and scenic viewpoint and confess there
But things take a different turn when halfway through the hike you realize that he was actually being serious about this date and he realizes you thought he was playing around
Then he kind of goes off on this impulsive rant like ‘Damn it Y/N I’ve been flirting with you for an entire year why do you keep thinking I’m not being serious about this’ and yeah he kind of floops out that he’s been crushing on you ever since y’all met
So things didn’t really go as planned but you had a serious conversation about it and by the time you reached the viewpoint you were already holding hands and smiling fondly at each other :’)
Doyoung
Tumblr media
Has been torn for weeks about how to confess to you and it’s showing
He wants to plan something that would make sure you knew how much he cared about you, so he scoured every possible source he could find, including the internet, all his good friends he could confide into, and even asked his parents who confessed to the other and how..
Anyways, when Doyoung meets up with you he still hasn’t made his mind about how to confess
And technically he wasn’t planning on doing so either, until he saw how battered up you looked from an ugly fall off the stairs last week and how you tried to hide that wearing a big hoodie and sunglasses
During winter
You thought he didn’t notice though until he kind of had enough of your act and just pulled off the hoodie from your head and took off your glasses to reveal this bigass purple bruise on your face, still evident beneath your make-up
Doyoung couldn’t help seeing you so vulnerable and inattentive toward your own wellbeing and so gave you an entire lecture nagging at you to be more careful
Over the next few days he comes by unannounced to check the safety of basically your entire home to make sure you wouldn’t trip again and also takes care of your bruise and minor grazes on your arms and knees
And it just so happened that he accidentally murmured “How did I fall in love with such a clumsy human being” just when he thought you didn’t hear it
You replied with “How did I fall in love with such a nagging mom-figure” and well, the rest is history :’)
Jaehyun
Tumblr media
Actually, you kind of knew for a while now that he probably had a crush on you because of that one time he accidentally sent a text to you that said “I don’t know what to do, should I confess to Y/N?”
You read the message before he quickly deleted it and since then both of you pretended that never happened
Anyways, I can see Jaehyun taking you out for a nice dinner at this new and trendy restaurant (complete with lit candles and fancy music and all)
He’d try his best to appear calm and composed, and he would’ve succeeded had his hands not been trembling when he poured more wine in both your glasses
Probably has this whole speech ready in his back pocket just in case he forgot what he wanted to say
But before he can start on that you casually say “So is this how you’re planning on confessing to me?” and Jaehyun automatically answers yes before he’s processed that you in fact knew all along how he felt for you
You let him finish his confession speech though cause he worked so hard on it, and you obviously accept to be his girlfriend
He even prepared a little surprise for you together with the staff, it was a cute cake with both your names in the shape of a heart
The date ends with you two talking and having fun conversations at the restaurant until it closed (and you had to be kicked out)
Jungwoo
Tumblr media
I see so many ways in which Jungwoo would confess, simply cause he can be so shy and reserved but also really sassy and goofy at the same time
Anyways, I think he’d go for something a little more subtle than his hyungs would, kinda secret admirer style?
The first time you realized you had a secret admirer was when you found a note in your bag containing a compliment directed toward you and a cute drawing next to it
You thought it was really sweet and so Jungwoo continued sending you love notes and putting it in random but somewhat inconspicuous spots, like your locker, your books, etc.
This went on for a couple of months until one day Jungwoo decied it was time to make it known that he was the secret admirer, so he started announcing in a note that he was someone you knew well
That’s when you started finding notes at the most random of places: inside your phonecase, heck even the inside of your shoe
You had absolutely no clue who this person was and were growing kind of agitated at the fact that you couldn’t send him notes back, until Jungwoo slipped up once and complimented you in the exact same way as your secret admirer did
On the day he planned to confess, you were just casually studying together (or more like, you were trying to study and he was just staring at you boredly)
Jungwoo waited patiently until you finished, then told you you had something stuck in your hair
And as you reached for it, you found it to be a folded piece of paper stating “I like you”, with Jungwoo smiling knowingly at you
Mark
Tumblr media
Would be a panicking mess, let’s be real
Asks all the hyungs for advice on what to do
Mark would take you to someplace special for the both of you, like the place you first met or where he first realized he has feelings for you
He wouldn’t hold a big speech or make it into a big event, he’d want to keep it simple and to the point so as not to burden you too much
I see him just wanting to make it a fun day when you two meet up, confession or not
Like a walk along the river or at a park, some icecream, maybe even biking or (roller)skating around and picknicking
Tries to find the right timing to break the news to you, fails miserably at doing so most of the time
You knew he had something to say though cause he avoided making direct eye contact with you throughout the entire day
But when he’s ready, he musters up all his courage, coughs a little as a way of making clear that he has something to say, and then just goes for it
Panics halfway through the confession, like he just turns into this shy blushy mess, especially when he stutters or messes up his words
Kinda rambles his way through it but looks you directly in the eye when he says that he likes you
Would add something like “I hope this doesn’t affect our friendship” after confessing cause that’s legit been the nr. 1 reason why he was hesitating confessing to you
Overall would be really nervous about it, but also very sweet and sincere!
Haechan
Tumblr media
9/10 would go for an over the top public confession, just cause he can
You two met up at this arcade, your usual hangout spot to relieve yourselves from stress and play fun games together
You originally thought it would be just a normal day meeting up with your longtime friend, but turns out you were completely wrong
Cause the minute you stepped into the venue, you were met with all kinds of festive decorations, balloons, and familiar faces shouting “SURPRISE!!!” at the top of their lungs
Turns out Haechan planned a surprise party for you complete with hilarious banners with him making heart signs
When you turned around to look at Haechan, he was kneeling on the floor holding a big bouquet of your favorite flowers and this giant teddy bear
As he looked up to you, he asked you to be his girlfriend, to which you said yes and were met with a rainfall of confetti and cheering
You spent the day playing fun games with your boyfriend and friends
(And to Haechan’s discontent and envy, you kinda beat him at almost every arcade game there was to play)

ML: Too Much Chapter 10: Confessions (Finale)
Eventually, Marinette’s week off was up. She woke up her first morning back to school a little groggy, but feeling confident. Throughout the week, she felt nothing but support from everyone around her. Surprisingly, even Hawk Moth didn’t akumatize anyone. Almost as if he knew.
Marinette ate breakfast and headed out to school. Once there, her classmates welcomed her back. They asked her how she was feeling, and she told them that she was feeling better.
During break time, Marinette took out some paper and made a list of things she was working on and then worked on prioritizing which ones she should work on first, as well as which ones she could delegate out to others. However, she knew what needed to be at the top of the list. Telling Adrien how she felt.
After school came. Adrien was gathering his things while Marinette had everything packed up. It was now or never. She gulped. “Here goes.”
Just as Adrien was about to get up, Marinette slammed her hand on his desk. Adrien looked up. Marinette’s eyes were filled with determination, while her face was redder than a field of roses. “Marinette?” he asked.
Marinette stood there. Everyone in the room was looking at her and Adrien. She knew she had to do it. She KNEW. But it was another thing actually doing it. Her palms got a little sweaty, and her hand slipped off the desk. “WAH!”
Before she could fall over, Adrien caught her. “Woah, are you alright? We don’t want you getting hurt again.”
Marinette readjusted herself. “Right. Of course. So, um… yes.” Adrien seemed confused. “I mean, ugh.” She turned away. “I have to do this!” she told herself.
“Do what?” Adrien asked.
“GAH!” Marinette yelped. She again regained her composure. She took a deep breath. “Adrien, I have something to tell you.”
“What is it?” he asked.
Marinette glanced away. “We’ve known each other for a little while now,” she began. “And throughout most of that time, I’ve had something I’ve always wanted to tell you, but I was always too afraid to. But after everything that happened in this past week, I realized that not telling you was hurting me more.”
She closed her eyes and turned her head towards Adrien. “I love you Adrien Agreste! Will you go out with me?!” Everyone in the classroom was shocked, but none more so that Marinette. She was breathing heavily and her heart was pounding.
Despite knowing this was coming, Adrien was still taken aback by the confession. He looked around. Everyone was surprised. They were in anticipation wondering what Adrien would do next. Almost everyone looked like they wanted this to happen, and those who weren’t didn’t surprise Adrien.
He took a breath and smiled. Sorry, but I’m going to have to disappoint everyone for a bit. Though, hopefully not forever. “Marinette?” He said. She opened her eyes. “I’m honestly very flattered.” Marinette’s face lit up. Everyone thought it was happening. “Um, could you follow me for a second?” Everyone was confused. “I want to continue this conversation in private, if you don’t mind.”
This answer would have scared Marinette before. But now, she was willing to risk it. If Adrien wants this to be private, he must have a good reason. “Very well,” she said. “Lead the way.” The two of them started to leave the room. Everyone else was freaking out about this. Why did Adrien want to continue this privately? Why did Marinette so readily agree to it? What’s going to happen?
Marinette and Adrien continued for a little bit. Adrien made sure no one was around and stopped. “Here we are.”
Marinette stopped as well. “So, why did you bring us here?” she asked, heart still thrashing like a drum solo.
Adrien faced her, smiled, and blushed. “Marinette. I’m glad you told me how you felt. And in all honesty, I kind of feel the same.” Marinette was taken aback by this admission. “You’re smart, clever, bold, and always willing to help others. You’re an admirable person, and I’m glad someone like you could love someone like me.”
Marinette was confused. “If… If you felt like that, why did we go someplace private? Is it because of Chloe?”
“It’s not Chloe,” Adrien assured her. He sighed. “It’s because there’s still a chance you might not date me.”
Marinette was more confused. “Why? You’re amazing too. You’re so kind to others, and you do everything you can to make sure they’re OK. I’m the one who should feel glad that you like me.”
Adrien giggled. “It’s because I haven’t been entirely honest with you lately.”
“How so?” Marinette asked, still befuddled about everything that’s happening.
Adrien took a deep breath and sighed. “I’m sorry. I didn’t find you as Marinette that day.”
Marinette looked at him puzzled. “What do you mean?”
Adrien closed his eyes. “Plagg. Claws out.” He transformed into Cat Noir. Marinette turned pale. He opened his eyes. “When you passed out, I found you as Ladybug. I didn’t say anything because I knew you’d worry about it, and I didn’t want you to worry. I had always planned on telling you once you started feeling better.
But then you told Cat Noir that you liked Adrien. I was fairly surprised. But more importantly, I was scared. I was scared that I broke your trust. That you’d think I was using you in some way. That you’d feel like I’d be dating you just because you’re Ladybug.
But I want you to know that I don’t just love Ladybug. I love you Marinette. I love the you that is kind, amazing, and all around wonderful. Everything I’ve said about Ladybug applies to you as well. Both in and out of the suit, you have proven time and time again how much of a great person you are. So, even though you have every right not to, could you still forgive me?” He closed his eyes.
He felt Marinette swoop in with a hug. He opened his eyes in shock and looked down. “Stupid cat” Marinette said. She looked up. Her eyes were tearing. “Of course I’ll forgive you.” She buried her face in his chest.
He smiled. “Claws in” he said, reverting back to Adrien. He stroked her head for a little bit and then pulled her in for a tighter hug. They looked at each other. “So, you’ve forgiven me, but do you still want to go out with me?”
Marinette looked at him and smiled. She gave him a kiss. “Do you even have to ask?” Adrien was stunned. He then started laughing. Then they both did. Then they started kissing each other more. It got intense and Marinette sort of fell onto Adrien. Marinette looked a little sheepish, but Adrien pulled her in closer and they continued making out.
After a few minutes, they finished. Marinette rolled off of Adrien and they both sat up. Marinette looked at Adrien while fixing her hair a little bit from when Adrien was gripping her head. She then started to feel a little bad. “I’m sorry” she said.
“For what?” Adrien asked.
“For… Well, everything” Marinette said, curling into a ball. “I turned you down so many times. I’ve completely neglected you. I ignored you, or wrote you off as a joke so many times. And also… I still wanted you to like me after all of that.” She rubbed her head, undoing the effort she just put in to making it look neat again. “I’m surprised you still want to date me after being so selfish about you.”
Adrien smiled. “Marinette?” She looked over. “I’ve also been ignoring you. And I've also been a bit selfish. We can’t help but make mistakes. After all, we’re only human. But I know in my heart of hearts that you’re amazing, and I hope you believe that about me as well.”
Marinette smiled. “Of course I know that about you.” She glanced off. “Thank you.”
“For what?” Adrien asked.
“For always being there for me” she replied. “You always know just what to do to help me out. You have confidence when I have doubt. So thank you.”
Adrien pulled her in. “I only have as much confidence because I know how amazing you are. I know I couldn’t handle everything you do. And yet you always show such poise. So, I guess what I’m saying is thank you.” They looked at each other, blushed, and shared another kiss. Afterwards, they giggled.
Adrien got up. “Here,” he said, “let me help you up.” Marinette took him up on that and grabbed his hand. He pulled her up and they both started walking together, hands still entwined. Marinette chuckled. “What’s so funny?”
“Well, I was just thinking, “ Marinette explained, “you were right. We go so well together. We’re always helping each other like it’s as simple as breathing. I can’t believe I didn’t see it before.”
Adrien smiled and gave her a peck on the cheek. “You always have seen it. You just didn’t have the full picture.” Marinette blushed.
They returned to the classroom. Everyone else was still there, still confused about what was going on. Marinette and Adrien turned to each other and shared a kiss to show that indeed they were a couple now.
Almost everyone came and congratulated them, though a few sour souls stayed out of it and just left. Despite the fact that they were getting frenzied with questions, Marinette and Adrien didn’t let go of each other’s hands. They looked at each other. Marinette nestled her head on Adrien’s shoulder. Adrien wrapped his free arm around her. They knew that whatever mess they were in, be it this pile of friendly adoration, or Hawk Moth, they were together, and that was stronger than anything.

Closer than neighbours : Lee Juyeon
Genre: fluff, slight angst, drama, criminal au
Summary: When Juyeon is caught on camera from engaging in a 50 million dollar heist, every policeman in town is searching for him but his main problem lies with you.
Direct quote: “I’m not just the guy living across the street.”
Tumblr media
“When was the last time you saw him?” the policeman asked as he stood by the doorstep. It was roughly 5 am in the morning, you were exhausted especially because of the events of last night which had involved partying and drinking till dawn. You had literally just gone home minutes ago and jumped in bed for a few seconds before you heard the doorbell ring.
“Wait who are we talking about again?” You drowsily replied, receiving a groan from the officer standing in front of you.
“Lee Juyeon, your neighbour. I heard you were quite familiar with him.” The man was obviously annoyed. With a slight hint of attitude laced in his tone of voice and relentlessly tapping his shoe to the ground to convey his restlessness to find Juyeon and his impatience to deal with you, you weren’t having it. You should be the one annoyed, having to wake up way too early in the morning just to answer questions that they can’t seem to ask respectfully. You spare him a glare, trying to avoid anymore time wasted on answering questions than sleeping.
“I don’t know, 2 days ago?” The man writes it down on his little notepad.
“He hasn’t contacted you since then?”
“No. Look officer, I don’t know where you heard Juyeon and I were ‘familiar’ from but I can assure you, if he was ever in trouble or anything, I’d be the last person he’d ask for help from.” You respond casually and the officer only nods along with it, thankful to allow you to return to bed.
“Alright then, that’ll be all for today. If you have any other information, please feel free to contact us, good day.” The man walks off and you scoff at his automated response. You don’t let it bother you as you were too tired to feel anything as of right now. Whatever situation Juyeon had gotten himself into, you were concerned but the fact that he hasn’t bothered reaching out to you or ever mention the upbringing event of robbing a 50 million dollar diamond made you feel that your 10 years worth of being neighbours and friends meant nothing to him. You felt you and Juyeon weren’t as close as you thought and what makes it worse was that you never had the chance to talk him out of such a dangerous path, because you never knew. Shrugging away your thoughts and hopping into bed, you manage to catch at least 10 minutes of sleep until a loud thud wakes you up, causing you to suddenly sit up from your position.
That couldn’t have been the usual stray cat that typically visits and hops around the garbage bins. It sounded like an intruder that somehow managed to enter through the bathroom window. Immense fear spread through your body, releasing in the form of sweat. You weren’t prepared to take on a stranger, you didn’t have the energy. Grabbing the closest threatening object you found in your room, in your case, a wireless table lamp, you snuck over towards the bathroom where all the noise seemed to be getting louder and louder.
“Fuck!” You heard a very familiar voice grunting and whining through the hallways, nonetheless you tightenend your grip on the lamp, preparing to swing as you reach the bathroom door.
“Here goes,” you mumble to yourself, “1, 2, 3!”
You jump in the room, raising the lamp up in the air only to realize that nobody was inside. You stood in the center of the room confused and looking like an idiot.
Or so you thought until the bathroom door swung close and Juyeon stood behind hiding. You almost screamed from his sudden appearance reflected in the mirror but he covers your mouth almost immediately with his right hand, his other arm laced around your shoulders, roughly bringing your body towards him. Your cheeks redden from the heat of his body being pressed against yours and you pray to yourself that he doesn’t notice it.
He whispers in your ear, “if I let go, promise you won’t scream?” There was something different about the way he spoke. It wasn’t as soft or shy and awkward like he usually was, he sounded cold and minacious, which had you shuddering and convinced for a moment that he was as dangerous and fearful as the news portrayed him to be. You nod your head gingerly and he slowly releases his hold on you.
“So you saw the news about me?” he asked and you nod your head once again.
“Juyeon what is all this about? And why are you here? Why appear now? Do you know how shocked and worried I was to see you on TV? What’s going on?” You bombard him with questions and he raises both hands in the air to gesture for you to calm down.
“Look, you’re the only person I trust right now. I’d rather not say much about what’s happened but I need you to let me stay here until I find someplace else to lay low.” If Juyeon is going to break into your house especially if he’s now proclaimed as a serious threat to society and not want to tell you anything, you’re not going to accept his answer.
“You can’t just barge into my home unannounced, let you stay for a while and expect me not to ask questions. I’m worried about you Juyeon,” he looks you in the eyes once his name rolls off your tongue but you’re unable to make out the expression he’s giving you.
“Oh really? You’re worried?” He said rather harshly and sarcastically. You’re slightly hurt that he doubts you.
“Um yes, I care for you. Why are you saying it like that?”
“I don’t know, you tell me, you’re the one partying even when you know what I’ve been up to.” He responds, his voice beginning to sound incensed and aggressive.
A frown appears on your face and you’re starting to understand why he’s upset. You went partying yesterday night because you felt dejected from the fact that Juyeon hadn’t told you anything and your desire to forget about the possibility of never seeing him again because of the crime he committed. You could see how he may have taken your choice to have ‘fun’ under such circumstances the wrong way but you do believe he should try to understand your point of view.
“How did you even know I was out?” He shrugs whilst scowling and you sigh at his petty behaviour. There was nothing to be so stubborn about, he made it clear to you that your friendship was quite one sided. “Don’t get mad at me, first of all, I see you on the news and have no idea whether to believe you’d pull such a stunt. And second, you let me deal with the cops, everyone is forcing the idea that you’re a criminal down my throat and I’m confused whether I know you or not. Do I defend you or do I say nothing?” You can see his expression falter a little from guilt but he immediately hides it and continues to retaliate, returning the same level of firmness in your words.
“Of course you defend me, I’m not just the guy living across the street. We’re more than neighbours, I’m your friend. You do know me.” He pauses to observe your face briefly and gruffly adds, “Partying and getting wasted sure told me otherwise.”
He was turning it back on you and of course this only added to your frustration having to endure such a shitty morning.
“Why are we even arguing? All you’ve shown me is that I don’t know you at all. You’re a criminal now Juyeon! Think about it, are you even the same guy that buys me pens with adorable figurines and decorations on them? Am I supposed to believe that you’re still the person to cower in fear watching horror movies or a thief that stole a $50 million diamond?”
He fills the gap that seperated the two of you and engulfs you in a hug. “I’m sorry, it’s just..I don’t want the only person I trust to leave me. If I don’t have you then I don’t have anyone.” His voice tickles your ear making you smile and snuggle into his chest. His hold on you tightens and he closes his eyes, allowing the comfort of you being in his embrace consume him. “I’ll tell you everything and I wont ever keep you in the dark again. Why don’t we talk in your room?” He suggests and you nod, playfully grabbing his wrist to lead him into your bedroom.
part 2? this honestly didn’t go the way i initially planned it to :(

The amount it took me to write this while my mind was blanking is astonishing.  So take this shit story.
Ever since a strange accident involving the Black Dragon, an artifact called the Shatter Dagger and me; I’ve been shoved into the hell that was the world of kombat. I’ve been training with Earthrealm forces, trying to save my world from all sorts of bullshit I couldn’t imagine in my wildest dreams. Not to mention my own personal struggles dealing with the fact that if I wanted too I could create that Omen scene with the glass pane at anytime on anyone. Sure it was cool but it hasn’t been exactly easy to say the least. Hell, It’s been down right torturous at times. But even then I’ve manage to crawl out of bed every day, work my ass off with people 10 times more talented and experienced then me, and go back to sleep just to do the same thing in the morning. I mean that weird dagger chose me to be a warrior for some reason... so either that thing was wrong and the placebo effect is real  or there really is something more to me then a shy, chubby idiot that can barely talk to a cashier. Not like I could go back to normal life now, my life was different. I was sought after for what was in me, what I could do. If I didn’t learn to fight, everyone I knew and loved would be killed at the hands of anyone that wanted to get what was inside of me. And there happened was a lot of those as of late. But I had to admit, even through all the weird shit that i’d been through, I didn’t expect being at the filming of a new movie to be a ‘strategic move’. I mean that’s what Sonya called it, but I think she just wanted someone to look after Johnny while he was away. Not that anyone would go after him but, it never hurt to be cautious now adays. Outworld was getting bolder, looking for openings to take down the people they saw as threats and weirdly enough, Johnny was one of them. Just one at the bottom of the list. A low priority target. So why not send a low priority person just incase shit hit the fan. Hell if something did happen back at home, two people that weren’t much of a threat in the enemies eyes wouldn’t be a total lost. They still had hard hitters to protect what was important. I would’ve been more heartbroken knowing I was basically a crisp 5 bucks on Outworld’s most wanted list, but I was 20 feet away from like 4 major celebrities, and sitting in one of those fancy actor chairs with Johnny’s name stitched in it. I wasn’t too torn. “Excuse me, miss. Who are you?” One of the runner’s asked, a nervous look on his face. “People don’t seem to recognize you, and I just want to make sure you’re suppose to be here.” I paused, panic beginning to rise in me before remembering what Johnny told me to say. “I’m Mr. Cage’s plus one.” I dug in one of my pockets and pulled out a belt buckle with Johnny’s last name on it. “He said this should be proof enough.” “Ah... yeah.” He took a pause, observing the very gaudy engraved buckle, “ I’ll inform security then. They were getting a bit antsy.” The runner stumbled off without another word towards a large, menacing man blocking a door, whispering something to him before being called elsewhere on set. The large security man rolled his neck and nodded towards my direction, picking up his walkie-talkie to talk to presumably, the other security members. I turned back around, sinking into the rather uncomfortable chair. So glad to know that I was just mere inches away from being beaten to death by security and the only thing that made them stop was some belt buckle worth more then my life. “How’s my favorite Glass Slipper handling Hollywood?” A familiar voice rang out from the dark corner of the set. I turned my head and watched as a rather oiled up, shirtless Cage bounded over, a half drunken cup of iced coffee in hand. “Did you show them the belt?” “Yeah they were 2 minutes away from throwing me out so... “ I paused, staring at his chest for a few seconds. “You... look like someone dipped you in a fast food grease trap.” “Yeah, the audience goes crazy for oiled up guys. When the lights hit your body and the camera catches the glare just right? Cinema gold baby. You don’t wanna know how many fancams are just me drenched in baby oil and fake blood.” He gave a flex of his bicep before grinning wide. “Hell you seem like the type to make those things. You a secret fan?” I raised an eyebrow as I got up from the chair, cheeks staining pink. “No, I’ve probably only seen about 3 or 4 of your movies.” “Makes sense why your not freaking out more. You’re in the lap of luxury! Do you know how many people would kill to be where you are? Not the glass stuff... I mean here on a movie set, next to me, next to other actors! You’re gonna be watching the next big blockbuster in the flesh!” “I... I mean I am freaking out. This is alot I’m just not fangirling. I’m more just... alert.” I muttered, beginning to trail off as Johnny grabbed the script from under his chair, muttering to himself softly about ‘not respecting the art’ or something akin. Johnny was interesting to say the least. An actor turned fighter for Earthrealm all because of a misunderstanding. Even when he found out that it was a fight between realms and not just some fighting tournament that was way too into roleplaying, he stayed, finding out in the process that he had been from a long line of warriors with powers. And even though all of that happened he was still... him. Cocky, rude, arrogant. You’d think that something that life changing would... well change you but not Johnny. Ever since, everyone’s just sort of put up with him and his antics, even though I could see how close they were to decking him the face when he spoke. Most of the time, I was one of them but other times I could see something else in him, something more besides the douchebag he presented himself as. How suddenly nice he could get, how protective, serious. But those moments were few and far in between, especially when they were paired with moments like this. “Can you hand me a highlighter? Just over by the food table.”  I nodded, getting up and avoiding people with large bulky equipment that would easily put me into debt if I even thought of scratching it. I came back, handing the highlighter to the man. “Here you go Mr. Cage.” He raised an eyebrow as he grabbed the highlighter, a small laugh leaving his lips. “Mr. Cage? What are you my agent? You can call me Handsome, Sexy... really any adjective to describe a really good looking guy, Adonis maybe?” I could feel my cheeks get brighter, unsure if he was flirting with me or just trying to boost his own ego. What was I talking about, he wouldn’t flirt with someone like me. It was just him being an ass!  I turned my face away from him, beginning to feel more and more uncomfortable the longer I stood there. “Oh come on, that was funny! Don’t get your panties in a twist.” “A...are you serious? My panties in a twist? I’m not going to call you those things, especially here, someplace I’m not comfortable in!” I hissed under my breath as a passerby gave us a questionable look. ”Why? I’ve been called way dirtier things on and off the stage. These people are all use to it! I think that boom operator has even seen me get hot and heavy with a few actresses between takes. Honestly, I’m just trying to help you out, make you fit in with the crowd instead of looking like a little lost puppy like you always do, Hon.” He huffed, lowering the script on to his lap to highlight a few of his lines. His eyes didn’t meet mine once as he spoke, more focused on the movie then the insults and remarks he was slinging at me. “W-What the hell is wrong with you! Do you talk to everyone this way or just the people you see lower then yourself?”  “Trust me you aren’t as special as you think you are.” I felt a pin drop in my stomach as he spoke, a rage boiling deep inside of me that I had suppressed for far too long. I was never confrontational, always avoided verbal arguments if I could but having to deal with seeing him do this to everyone, to do it to me when I saw something in him. In a place surrounded by celebrities, by people who worked for him, in a place I felt like I didn’t belong. It felt like one straw too many for the camel’s back.  ”I can’t believe I ever saw something deeper to you then some shallow fuckboy with an ego the size of Mt. Everest!” I snapped, my voice echoing around the suddenly still sound stage. Even with the rest of the crews eyes now on us, Cage didn’t look up. Didn’t even flinch from what he was doing. His only response was a slow lowering of the marker in his hand as the eyes of hundreds of workers bore into my soul.  I couldn’t stand it. I dipped my head away, walking past the security guard that blocked the sound stage door to the outside. No one tried to stop me, to slow me down. Even before I reached the door I could hear them all return to what they were doing, like it was a normal occurrence there. I suppose it probably was when it came to people like him. Didn’t make it hurt any less though, to find out I was just another person on the long list of people he upset. I paced in circles outside the door, tears pricking the corners of my eyes. If I went back in there I knew I’d be stared down, both by Johnny and the movie crew, but if I stayed out here it could be just as bad. Besides wasn’t I suppose to be watching him? Suppose to have his back in case of any danger? Hell even if I hated his guts I wasn’t so petty to leave the guy in a dangerous situation where he could get killed. Or I could get killed. Not like I had a ride, I’d be walking the streets of Hollywood like an idiot. No map, no money. It was dog eat dog world out here even if there wasn’t dangerous mercenaries wanting to rip me to shreds. As I turned around for the umpteenth time, my eyes caught something at the other end of the building, something familiar slipping through the door frame before being blocked by the large metal door. I stopped in my tracks, face furrowing as I tried to piece together where I remembered that kinda clothing, that face. Big boots, something like knives strapped to his body, shaved head. I felt a chill run down my body as it finally clicked, the words of Sonya echoing in my head. ‘See this guy? I’ve been tracking this piece of human garbage for a while. He goes by the name Kano, and he’s the head of the Black Dragons, the same ones that brought that artifact to Earthrealm that changed you. If you ever see him, run. He plays dirty and even if you think you have a chance, you aren’t because he’s got a squadron of goons not far behind.’ “Johnny...” Without thinking I ripped the door open, sprinting into the sound stage only to be confronted with my worse fear. The crimson spray of blood from Cage’s mouth splattered across his body, droplets falling to the floor as Kano readied another punch.  “Johnny! No!” My voice was shrill, and harsh, as I ran towards the enemy, the one I was told to run away from. All to save some ass I told not 10 minutes ago that I saw no good in. As I closed in, I readied a punch, aiming for the cybernetic eye to hopefully bash in with a single decisive strike. I didn’t need to beat him, I didn’t need to win. All I needed was a small advantage for me to get Cage out of danger. My fist was stopped by Johnny’s hand, his face frantic as he stepped into my sight. “ACTING. ACTING, WE’RE ACTORS. LITERALLY ON A SOUND STAGE. DON’T DECK THE GUY TRYING TO GET A PAY CHECK!” “W-what? No that’s- your-” “Blood capsules. Fake blood.” He hissed, letting go of his tight grip on my hand to wipe the red dye from his face. “And that guy, isn’t Kano. He’s a guy I made the director add to movie BASED on Kano.” I felt my hand fall to my waist, turning to face the surprised actor I was mere seconds away from decking. My embarrassment flooded my body, stumbling back a few steps before the director began to scream from off set. “What the hell is going on?! This crazy broad walking on set, nearly hitting my stars, Johnny, baby, what the hell are you bringing to my set? Ya know I thought this bitch would be way more calm the the usual models you bring here but at least those don’t do this shit!”  The older man got up from his chair, megaphone in hand as he approached the actor. The rage emanating from him was palpable, making the air heavy and thick. I moved closer to Johnny, shamefully looking to the actor for guidance. I saw his eyes flicker down to me before giving a cocky look to the old man. “Excuse me? Are you... questioning the people I bring here? Me. Johnny FREAKING Cage? Award winning actor, multi box office record setting STAR... of who he brings on the set? Do you WANT a goddamn strike?” The director’s tone completely flipped at the boisterous words, slinking back into the shadows of the set. “Johnny, baby please-” he began. “Don’t you BABY me. You know my name!” “M..mr. Cage.” “That’s right. And you will address me as such as long as you wanna keep feeding that family of yours with this fat paycheck your getting from working with ME. So you keep your mouth shut about whoever the hell I bring here. I’ll bring a fucking live tiger if I damn well please and you just point your stupid little megaphone, give a big bright smile, and play along. GOT IT?” “Y...yes sir, Mr. Cage. Of course.” Johnny flashed a smile to the rest of the crew as he wrapped an arm around my shoulder, pushing me into his chest. “Now how about you all give my friend Jenna, a great big ‘Sorry’ and we can get back to working huh? Come on don’t be shy! ‘Sorry~ ‘come on, SAY IT!” He screamed, face turning red as the sound stage went hush. Slowly but surely a wave of monotone, ‘Sorry, Jenna’ erupted from the darkness of the sound set, culminating in the most unenthusiastic, forced apology from a group of grown ups I’d ever heard. It if wasn’t for the fact I could see them, I could of sworn that these were elementary school kids being yelled at by a principal for being too loud at lunch time. Johnny’s arm gave me a small reaffirming shake as he turned me toward him, a lip curled in smug pride. “There, ain’t that just the best medicine?” “What are you doing?” I whispered, hand going to touch his still oily chest. “It’s called acting. I figured if I’m the asshole, no one will shift the blame on you and the fact you just tried to bitch slap a B-list actor. After all if I’m a prick, might as well play the part.” He whispered back, giving a quick wink toward me as he patted my back. “Also, you called me Johnny. I gotta admit, that’s got a nice ring to it.” He placed another small pat to the small of my back and led me back toward his chair, giving the stink eye to a few people that glanced in our direction. “So. How bout we take it from square one huh? Come on, let’s get going people, hustle hustle, hustle! I ain’t getting any prettier! ” He began to clap his hands feverously causing the others to begin to run around for another take of the scene. As I reclined in the chair, watching the chaos beginning to start up, I couldn’t help but overhear people begin to bitch under their breath about how much of an ass Johnny was, completely forgetting about what just happened with me. At least Johnny was right about what would happen, making himself the target to absorb the hate. Who would care about some no name when everyone could tell their friends and family how shitty a guy Cage was for bringing the girl in the first place and acting like it was no big deal after all? He wasn’t an idiot, he used his arrogant nature to play people like a fiddle and people were none the wiser. All except for me, who saw the kindness break through the mask. Maybe I was too cruel, or maybe he was just doing it to prove he wasn’t a complete jackass to me. Either way, I was grateful. He didn’t need to do that, but he still did, much like most of things that happened with him.  I watched a makeup artist clean the blood off of Johnny’s chest, reapplying any patches of oil or foundation that had been ruined by the fake blood. Our eyes met from across the stage and with a cocky grin he flexed an arm, throwing a finger gun at me before barking an order at the makeup artist to further reassure his status of a dick. Jeopardizing his status in his inner circle all to make me feel better. What a guy.

Ragnarok Rant - Part Two
Are your crocs still on because this ride is only getting wetter.
Picking up from last time. Starting with the points we end with. Starting points: -335 points.
Hela Arrives on Asgard I like the addition of the Warriors Three. Question. Where’s Sif? Lady Sif and the Warriors Three are kinda, y’know, a team. So...where is she? Dead? On an adventure? What? I’ll go ahead and leave that there. I would add points but the Warriors Three weren’t bad so them dying isn’t really my favorite thing in the world. Next.
Thor Arrives on Sakaar The aliens asking if Thor was a fighter or food was amazing. I love how they don’t care that he looks like he could lift a building, they’re just like, ‘Well, he didn’t say fighter. Let’s eat him.’ That was great. +10 points.
As a person who really really really really really really really really really does not like Thor...the whole ‘fight’ scene, if that’s what you could even call that, wasn’t quite enjoyable for me. Thanks for that. +15 points.
Valkyrie (I know her name is Brunhilde, but since she never told anyone her actual name, I will go with what she clearly wanted and call her this instead.) showing up drunk was great. If you wanted comedic relief, Taika, this is a few ways to do it. Not changing he characters to how you would act if you were them. Because you are not them and writing based off of this is not how you do things with a franchise with a built foundation. +10 points for well-made comedy relief.
Someone paid attention to The Avengers. The addition of the Bilgesnipe corpse that Valkyrie falls in is great. It was nice actually getting to see this species for once, instead of just hearing it as a reference from Thor or Loki. +10 points.
Question. How did the blasts only get the scavengers and not touch Thor at all? That’s not really how that works. He would have had to be hit a couple of times to make it accurate. But I did like seeing some of her skills so I will give points. +5 points.
Thor really thought she was helping him because it was him? Ha, yeah right. Valkyrie saving Thor just to take him in herself was great. I’ll give points for that. +10 points.
She really just does not care that he is a Prince of Asgard. On this planet, Thor, and probably on any other planet, too, your royalty doesn’t matter much. +15 points
Hela Back on Asgard There you go, Taika. That’s how you put in some comedy, not abusing Loki. Abusing Loki is not how you get people to laugh. Things like Hela explaining who she was, what she meant to do, and how she meant to do it and then Hogan completely ignoring her and saying he would kill her without a second thought if she threatened the kingdom is gold. This is comedy. Not cruelty. +15 points.
The entire army of the Asgardians being no match for Hela is great. It really shows how powerful she is to be able to defeat all of the guards on Asgard by herself. Points for that. +20 points.
And there’s go Hogan. The Warriors Three are officially all dead. Hm, shame. Well, I guess this is just a very long process to getting what you deserve after all of that shit you pulled on Loki back in Thor and Thor: The Dark World. You know he didn’t fully deserve the death threats and immediate accusations.
Heimdall retrieving the Bifrost Sword was a nice touch. I enjoyed that, no matter how small it was. +5 points.
You doing good so far. Good job because we got from -355 points to -240 keep it up and you may be in the positives by the end.
Meeting the Grandmaster Thor’s reaction to being stuck to a chair is to immediately get out of it and kill whoever put him in the chair. If he was rocketing toward someplace, not knowing where he was going, he wouldn’t scream like he did. No, instead, he would brace himself and get ready to fight. Wrong. Losing points. -10 points.
I actually really like Grandmaster. He’s humourous and is superior and is just an overall good character. His comedic relief is nice, is a change of pace from what we’ve been given and I appreciate that. +10 points.
“He’s wonderful. It is a ‘he’?” Love it. Questioning whether Thor was a male or not was great. +5 points because I don’t like Thor. :P
The obvious dislike Topaz has for Valkyrie reminds me of me and my brother. It’s like her presence annoys the hell out of her and she’ll insult her whenever she can. She’s a relatable character and one you’re able to actually laugh at. She’s also a character that doesn’t hit Loki at any point, although she does try and get him melted when he interrupted Grandmaster... Anyway, good character. +5 points.
Inaccurate. “Just wait a damn minute. I’m not for sale!” Not how Thor would have reacted. He would have been pissed, but he wouldn’t say this. He’d threaten them with great violence, not just yell about not being an item to sell. -10 points.
That is also not how he would have introduced himself. He would eye Grandmaster and tell him, “I am Thor, the son of Odin. If you don’t unhand me I will unleash my wrath upon you.” Or some ‘threatening’ thing like that. He’s honestly not that threatening. But he would introduce himself as he always does. He’d put as much superiority in his voice as he could and announce his titles. -10 points. Thor’s really loving the negatives, isn’t he?
“Wow. I don’t hear any thunder. But on your fingers, was that like sparkles?” Great. Grandmaster is working for the positive points. +10 points for insulting Thor’s power.
Thor’s reaction to seeing someone getting melted would not be to yell ‘Oh my god’. That is not how he would have reacted. At all. He would probably mutter something similar under his breath if he was going to speak at all. No, instead of all of that, he would have struggled to get out once again, and when he couldn’t, he would have given threatening another go. The only character growth we ever really get from Thor was in the first movie when he was wayyyy more arrogant than he is now (though he is still quite so). -10 points. We are at -250 points. Thor’s really messing it up.
Loki’s Entrance Loki being in the background while the Grandmaster introduces himself was a nice touch. But I have to say that if Thor randomly showed up after a few weeks of being presumably dead, Loki would not walk up to him surprised and tell him to shut up about knowing each other. He would actually still be mourning Thor because, despite the fact that Thor would not have cared much about Loki presumably dying again, Loki would have cared deeply because he’s Loki. Making it seem like Loki doesn’t care about Thor’s death and Thor caring a lot about Loki’s is not accurate and it is actually opposite. -15 points for making it seem like Loki doesn’t care about his brother.
Thor would not be happy that Loki was still alive if he saw him. In fact, he would be pissed off that Loki was there because, unlike what people want to believe, Thor doesn’t really care for Loki. He would have been pissed off that Loki had been presumed dead again and suddenly made the whole “I’m alive” thing happen again. -10 points.
That wouldn’t be their interaction. It’s the whole Thor and Loki relationship that’s getting on my nerves. Loki would walk up to Thor and try to cover up the fact that he is happy that Thor is alive the best he could because he doesn’t want to seem like he really cares. He would address the fact that Thor is alive and then explain what happened. Thor would cut him off, deciding not to listen to him, as per usual, and talk himself about how he thought Loki was dead again and how Loki messed some shit up somehow and tell him that he needed to help him escape without any acknowledgment to the fact that Loki isn’t just some servant Thor could boss around. -20 points.
Guys, stop. In that one part where Grandmaster smiles and then looks over to Loki and bats his eyelashes, it is not because of the ‘favor’ Loki gained with the Grandmaster. It is obvious and made clear that the Grandmaster is pansexual and have you seen Loki? Of course Grandmaster would flirt with him. Loki, on the other hand, is uncomfortable with the Grandmaster’s looks. When Loki gained favor with the Grandmaster, it was not by having sex with him. We should know this by now. Loki knows how to gain favor and he has self-respect. He would not go to such lows for something like that. -10 points because the internet is not helping Loki’s reputation.
It is like Thor to emphasize just how ‘important’ he thinks he is. He’s just like this. He flaunts, he brags. Loki might say that he didn’t know Thor, but it would be because he sees Thor in a stuck to a chair by Grandmaster because the ruler decided Thor wasn’t important. He needed to protect himself from being thrown in the same chair so they had hope to escape. Getting himself thrown in the chair as well would not help and he had to act like he didn’t know Thor so he could find a way. +10 points for the whole Thor bit. But stop making Loki seem careless.
The threat was in character, but it would be less humourous for Thor. He wouldn’t laugh about it while saying it, he would have a straight face and tell Grandmaster to unhand him. Grandmaster, being the wonderful character he is, would not care about Thor’s threats and would carry on with his day as he does here.
Here is some of Thor being in character. Thank you for being accurate, at least a little bit. +10 points.
I have so many mixed feelings about Korg. I like his character, but I don’t like the fact that it is Taika playing him. I will, however, give points for Korg being a character that doesn’t insult or injury Loki and does not join in the whole ‘Let’s Abuse Loki’ Club. But I won’t add as many because Taika is the one playing and he hasn’t earned my respect. +10 points.
The rest of the scene was in character for Thor. It’s a good thing Thor didn’t try to crack any jokes or try and seem better than the asshole he actually is. +10 points for character accuracy.
It’s not looking so good. Points have risen to -275. Let’s see how this goes.
The Kingdom of Asgard The true history of the Asgardian kingdom was a nice touch. It was good in my opinion to finally have the whole ‘Odin conquering the Nine Realms’ to be brought to light after he tried to slide as a ‘benevolent king’ and tell Loki that you’re supposed to rule peacefully after all of the violence he unleashed onto all of the realms. +20 points.
The treasure vault was great. The ‘Infinity Gauntlet’ is a little strange because him having it with fake stones and a fake gauntlet all together is...something. The way she eyes the Tesseract, though, was nice to see. Another gesture to her similarity to Loki. +10 points.
As a person who absolutely adores wolves, Fenris was amazing and I love him and you get so many points for it. Also, it’s another gesture to Loki and mythology, so points for that as well. I’ll go ahead and do this. +50 points.
Look who’s being generous. Hela! Because we are now at -195 points. Keep it up.
The Waiting Room The prayer Thor says for Odin was an amazing touch that will be rewarded with lots of points. +30 points.
And so it begins. The Loki abuse. Of course, Loki wasn’t actually there, he sent an illusion of himself, but Thor threw the rock at him anyway, thinking, at first, that it was. This is not comedy, Taika, and it never will be.
Loki would try to reach out to Thor, even though he would know that his attempt would be useless, he would still try because he still cares. Loki would try to reach out to Thor so they could try to escape Sakaar. Thor, being the very bad brother he is, would completely ignore him and stick to the little things Loki has done, in comparison to Thor, and throw it in his face (pun intended).
+20 points for character accuracy. It would have gained you more if Thor hadn’t tried to find some small way to hurt Loki.
And Loki is right, he’s had to go it alone way more than once because Thor has never had Loki’s back, while Loki has helped Thor more times than he’d like to confess.
Can I just say, when Thor starts speaking about the things Loki had done, it did aggravate me. Loki did not strand Odin on Earth to kill him. If Loki wanted to kill Odin, he would have done it the day he impersonated him. Loki has the power to kill Odin because he is not weak. He wouldn’t have put him on Earth so he could live out his mortal days and eventually die. His intent wasn’t to kill Odin, it was to take his place as king since Thor had refused the throne after Loki offered it to him at the end of Thor: The Dark World. Bottom line, if Loki wanted Odin dead, he would have just killed him then. -10 points because of Thor.
That wasn’t exactly the right time to add Korg in for comedy. Even if I don’t dislike Korg as a character, his little bit was not appropriate at that moment. It did not need to be there. There was a serious scene where Loki and Thor are having a conversation about what they need to do and what has been happening. Korg’s bit didn’t need to be there, whether it was funny or not. -10 points for incorrect timing for comedy relief.
That concludes today’s rant about Thor: Ragnarok.
It ended better than it started and better than yesterday! Let’s see what we’ve got!

What Have I Done? || Ch. 11
Pairings: Bucky Barnes x Reader
Warnings: angst, super possessive Bucky, gets pretty dark
Word Count: 1800+
Summary: A bad break up between Bucky and his ex leads to a new friendship with the quiet tech he never had the chance to get to know. Relationships grow, feelings are caught, and boundaries are explored. Bucky thought he found his happy ending, but old memories haunt his future. He knows what he’s doing wrong, dangerous even, but he can’t help it. Can he fix the wrongs he’s done? -a requested story for @iheartsebastianstan
A/N: Aight, so this was actually going to be one long chapter to finish, however as I was writing it, I realized too much is happening and I didn’t want to overwhelm anyone. So I cut it and there’s going to be one last chapter after this before the epilogue. Another note, this could have some sensitive topics that some people might not like, but it’s nothing too awful? I don’t know, just read with a little caution cause it does get heavy in some part and probably a little ooc(?). Beyond that, I hope you all enjoy! Hopefully 😆

Chapter 10 | Chapter 11 | Chapter 12 | Series Masterlist
“Steve?” Y/N croaked, hesitantly knocking on Steve’s bedroom door. Her throat burned and the tears flowed hotly down her cheeks as she frantically looked over her shoulder. She didn’t know who else to go to, who would know what to do. The sound of her heart pounding in her head drowned out the panic that gripped her heart, but only for so long. She was brought back to the sound of him moving around the room, Steve’s footsteps were heavy and swift before the door swung open.
Concern clouded Steve’s face at the sight of Y/N standing in front of him, with her arms wrapped around her waist and tears staining her cheeks. With a quick look down both sides of the hall, Steve dragged her inside the room and locked the door behind them. He ushered her to the edge of his bed and went to grab a box of tissues. Y/N sniffled a soft thanks and dabbed her cheeks.
“What happened?” Steve asked warily, grabbing his chair desk to sit in front of her. Y/N struggled to answer, the whole reason for her being here was still fresh and raw. It was still jarring how much he changed, how dangerous he had become. He wasn’t the same Bucky she first fell in love with.
“I- I don’t know.” Y/N held in a sob, her chin quivering as the emotions came rushing back to the surface. “Somethings wrong with Bucky. I- I don’t know what happened.”
Steve’s back straightened at the mention of his friend. He had noticed the change in Bucky when it came to Y/N, both the good but sadly the bad. Recently, he was akin to a wild animal that was incredibly possessive of its territory. It had only been about two weeks since the incident in the gym and Bucky seemed to have progressively grown worse.
“What happened Y/N?” Steve pressed, needed to understand what caused her tears. She clenched her eyes shut and took in a shuddering breath.
“It was in the lab. I went to go talk with Tony and one of the lab assistants needed help with something. I didn’t think anything of it and went to help. I-Nothing happened.” Y/N whispered, trembling when the sound of Bucky snarl repeated in her mind. “He was so angry. He just started threatening Rob, told him to that I was his a-and that he’d snap his neck if he-.”
A sob tore from her lips and her hand flew up to cover her mouth. Steve inhaled sharply and pushed off the chair to sit beside Y/N and wrap his arms around her shoulder. He leaned her against his chest, tightening his hold while she sobbed into his chest. He murmured soft words of reassurance to Y/N while he was trying to imagine what could have possibly pushed Bucky over the edge like this. It was so unlike him to act this remarkably out of character.
“That’s okay. You don’t have to say anything else. I’m so sorry,” He whispered, hopelessly watching as Y/N broke down in his arms.
He had no idea where this was coming from, what could have possibly set his best friend off like this. This wasn’t a one-time occurrence; he had seen his fair share of Bucky practically baring his teeth at anyone who dared to get too close. A dangerous look would pass over his face if they ignored his warnings, his steely eyes watching the person leave as he if was considering ways to tear them to pieces for defying him. It had even gotten to the point where the rest of the team was walking on eggshells around Bucky and Y/N, wary about setting him off. Steve had kept a close eye on him, hoping it was just a momentary lapse in behavior and it would straighten out eventually once he realized Y/N was there to stay. Clearly, this was much bigger than Steve could ever imagine, and it wouldn’t simply change overnight.
Y/N tried to calm her sobs and trembling but now that she was able to let everything the past few weeks out. She kept it all bottled up inside, worried that maybe she was doing something wrong to cause him to act like this. Today was the breaking point. Seeing his lips twist into a savage snarl as he stood over Rob as he cowered made her blood run cold. The sight of the ferocity and murder hardening his eyes made all the hairs on her arms and back of her neck stand on end. Combined with his feral hiss as he jammed his metal finger against Rob’s chest and threatened him harm if he came near Y/N again, it was too upsetting. She had to run and find someplace to hide from his threatening form.
“Breath,” Steve urged gently. He passed another tissue and helped her sit back. Y/N nodded sharply, blowing her nose in the tissue and grabbed another to wipe up the tears. She hated how weak she felt, how this had brought out the scared little girl inside her.
She still couldn’t believe it. This was Bucky, her Bucky. The same man she cradled when his heart was shattered and stomped on. The same man who would hold her so tenderly and whisper soft sweet nothings in her ears in the early morning before the busy day. He was so sweet and caring, even with all the pain he had endured he still managed to be incredibly gentle with her. She had his heart and he had hers. Or so she believed. How did things become so twisted and backward?
“What do I do, Steve?” Y/N croaked, her sobs dwindling down to broken whimpers. Steve frowned and looked at his hands. He honestly had no idea. How did one go about bringing volatile behavior to an already unpredictable person? When he or Y/N tried to explain in the past, Bucky didn’t want to hear it in the slightest. He was ready to fight and keep her all to himself. It didn’t matter who stood in his way, he would tear them apart without a moment hesitation.
“I don’t know,” He sighed sadly. “I honestly don’t know. This isn’t like him though. I’ve never seen him so angry and possessive. It’s almost like…”
He trailed off, realization slowly dawning on him and he inhaled sharply.
“Like you’re his mission.”
Y/N froze, her eyebrows shooting up to her hairline. That couldn’t be it, could it? He wasn’t the Winter Solider. They took out the trigger words so there’d be no way for him to go back. His behavior was different. He was aware of what he was doing. He wasn’t mindlessly following orders and an empty shell.
“No, think about it.” Steve turned to face Y/N. “He’s suffered some pretty serious trauma from Vivian, it pretty much ruined him and his self-confidence. It set him back, even further than when he first came to the compound. And then you came along and helped him reset. You put him back on the right track, you helped him become more confident in himself.”
“But how does that make me his mission though?” Y/N asked skeptically.
“Because you’ve become his everything. Really, I guess you’re more like his trigger. Haven’t you noticed how he only gets that way if anyone gets too close to you? He snaps into this state where he’s ready to take anyone down, no matter what the cost is and no matter who the person is” Steve explained. “It’s like he’s letting his fear of you leaving him or someone taking you away from his control how he acts. Yes. This isn’t him being the brainwashed assassin that Hydra created. It’s more like some strange hybrid of the Solider and himself.”
“Yeah, but…” Y/N started to argue, slowly seeing how it could make a little bit of sense. The Winter Soldier was known for how calculative and methodical he could be in missions. He was a shadow, quiet and swift. No one could tell what was going through his mind at any given moment. However, he did have moments where he was ruthless and vicious, not caring if it hurt others in the process. The only difference is with Bucky now vs then, he had emotions overriding his thoughts and mind. He wasn’t blank.
The crap Vivian pulled had pulled on him was like a vice, and he was letting his insecurities override his rationality. Even though it still didn’t totally line up, it still made sense to a degree. He was scared she would leave him, and the dormant instincts of protecting they had drilled in his head kicked in. She hadn’t realized how bad this had become and how dangerous the entire situation was. Y/N knew it was serious, but not this serious.
“Captain Rogers.” FRIDAY interrupted their epiphany, causing Y/N to nearly fly out of her skin. Steve bit the inside of his cheek and scrubbed his hand down his face.
“Yes, FRIDAY?”
“Boss needs you at the hanger. King T’challa and his sister will be here in five to speak with you both.” The AI responded. Both Y/N and Steve shot each other a confused look.
“Did he mention why they’re here?” He asked.
“No, just that they want to speak with you after they land.”
Steve inhaled deeply, clenching and unclenching his fist. Ordinarily, he wouldn’t mind such an unexpected visit from them, however, right now he didn’t want to leave Y/N alone. Not when she was hurting and needing support.
“Go ahead.” Y/N urged gently. “I’ll be okay. I probably should take a minute to wrap my brain around this alone.”
“Are you sure?” Steve turned to her and frowned. She nodded and looked down at her hands.
“I’ll be okay. Really. I just… I don’t want to go back to my room right now.” She murmured softly. Steve mulled over his options before finally giving with a heavy sigh.
“You should probably stay here. I don’t think Bucky will think to look here first, so it might be best.” He reasoned. He slowly rose and stared down at Y/N as she sniffled quietly. “I’ll make sure FRIDAY only opens for me. Try not to worry too much about everything right now. When I get back we’ll figure something out. We can’t let things keep escalating the way they are anymore though.”
Y/N agreed and nodded, reaching for the tissue box once again. Steve hesitated a moment before he walked over to his shoes to slip on.
“I shouldn’t be gone too long. I’ll tell FRIDAY to let you know if anything changes.” He said and stopped at the door. Y/N sent him a tight-lipped smile and waved her hand.
“Don’t worry. I’ll be here when you get back.”
With a sharp jerk of his chin, Steve shot her one last glance over his shoulder before he stepped out of the room and shut the door behind him. Making sure he told FRIDAY to keep his room in lockdown until he said it was clear, Steve made his way to the hanger with his stomach in knots. Both his best friend and his close friend were hurting. And he needed to figure out a way to fix this.

survey by lets-make-surveys
1 - Are you one of those people who can watch TV shows and movies over and over again without getting bored? Yeah this is pretty much my approach to all of my favorites. if a show or movie is able to join that club, then I automatically have no problem watching it over and over. Case in point, Friends for TV shows and The Proposal for movies.
2 - If you drink coffee, do you like it plain or would you rather have something like a latte or something flavoured? I never take coffee black. I mean I’ve had a few sips of it from friends’ cups before, but it just made me miserable loooool.
3 - How did you used to dress ten years ago? Do you dress in a similar way now? Ten years ago I was 12 and had no fashion sense whatsoever. I just put on whatever hand-me-down I got or whatever my mom would get me when she’d go window shopping. Didn’t really start putting in effort in my outfits until the end of high school.
4 - When you’re grocery shopping, do you buy known brands or are you happy to go with the generic store version? Known brands, because most of the time they end up having a better quality as well.
5 - Do you have a close relationship with any of your cousins? I’m super close with only one cousin, the eldest one on my mom’s side. He’s pretty much like an older brother to me and my siblings. Everyone else on my mom’s side is too young for me to get truly close with; my cousins on my dad’s side are too shy and also live too far away for me to be able to keep up a close relationship with them.
6 - Who was the last person to sleep over at your house? Does this person stay over often or was it more of a one-off? Gabie, I think. She stayed over a lot before, but obviously not anymore.
7 - Does bad weather put you off going out if you’ve got plans to do so? Have you ever cancelled plans due to the weather? Only if a typhoon is really strong; like now, and how they actually had to cancel work today because of the power outages everywhere and because residents in other cities are already being brought to evacuation centers where they can be safe. I had no idea work suspensions were a thing lmao so I was glad to read the message today; I didn’t know how I was going to work with only data and limited battery for both my phone and laptop (power’s been out in our house since 1 AM). :(
8 - When you’re on vacation, do you prefer doing the typical tourist things, or would you rather explore somewhere off the beaten track? I will enjoy a tourist thing or two, but otherwise I’d focus on the less-explored or less-visited attractions. It’s usually the museums or historical landmarks, which is a shame.
9 - Did your family travel a lot when you were younger? From the time I turned 11, which I think was the time my dad got a good promotion and money got a lot better at home. We’d go for vacations locally and abroad every time he was home, which was every 5-6 months.
10 - When was the last time you went shopping for clothes? Did you get anything decent or find any bargains? Around March, I think. Yeah, I found two tops that were both bargains.
11 - Is it true that accessories can make or break an outfit? For sure. With me, it’s bags.
12 - What is your worst memory from high school? What about the best? The absolute worst that I can remember was when we had to role-play as our chosen character in the novel we were taking up in Filipino class; and for some wild reason I chose the most extravagant, bitchiest, flamboyant character...for whom I do not have even the slightest acting chops. When I got to the front of the classroom that’s when I realized my mistake, blanked out, realized I wasn’t going to be able to act as her, and fumbled for the next five minutes.
My favorite bits from high school were the lunch periods I spent with my friend group. Even if we don’t talk anymore, I’m just grateful I was able to find a home in a group in high school.
13 - Is there any trait in a potential partner that would be a total dealbreaker for you? Right now my biggest dealbreaker is if they aren’t Gabie...lol. Other than that, I imagine being hugely turned off by poor hygiene.
14 - Do you insist people use coasters if they’re putting drinks down in your house? No. I wish we did have coasters as I find them aesthetically pleasing haha, but my mom doesn’t find them necessary
15 - Have you ever been arrested? Were you guilty of whatever it is you were arrested for? Never been.
16 - Name five items on the shelf nearest to you: I don’t have shelves in my room.
17 - After meals, do you wash dishes up right away, or do you leave them in the sink and do a whole days worth at once? I leave them in the sink and soak it with water and dishwashing soap for an hour or so, so that by the time I get back to it it’s easier and quicker to wash. So I do leave them, but I don’t wait until I have 4353894753246 dishes to wash by the end of the day.
18 - What websites do you find yourself spending the most time on? These days I’m primarily on Google Suite, honestly. Work eats up my week.
19 - Do you still download music and TV shows? No. Nearly all media I consume these days is thanks to an online subscription. The only exception is YouTube, I think.
20 - Does your phone have a good battery life? How long does it last before you need to charge it again? I don’t know how it fares compared to other brands, but I’m generally okay with my phone’s battery life. It lasts around 2-3 hours if used continuously, but if I’m out all day and on the go, it can last a whole day with me.
21 - When was the last time you hit snooze? Yesterday.
22 - Did you ever play The Sims? Which expansion pack was your favourite, if you had any? I did play The Sims a lot before – mostly Sims 2 on the PS2, Sims 2 Pets on the PSP, and Sims 4 on the PS4. I never explored the expansion packs too much, though.
23 - Are there any popular film series or TV shows that you just don’t get the appeal of? Game of Thrones and any Marvel movie.
24 - As a child, did you receive pocket money or an allowance? How much did you get? Was it dependent on you doing chores of some kind? Eh, not really. I didn’t receive an allowance of any kind until I was in high school when I started to be given P100 (roughly $2) a day, which was enough for snacks and lunch. No, I didn’t do chores to get the money.
25 - Do you think your parents did a good job of raising you? Would you do anything differently with your own kids? They taught me manners, showing respect, and different values like recognizing my privilege, giving to the poor, understanding my enemies in school, etc. But my childhood seriously lacked emotional maturity, physical affection, and, generally...just being treated like a kid; and I definitely feel the effects from these until today. I was already yelled at from age 5, and that has made me afraid of anyone who ever so slightly raises their voice. I’d do a lot of things differently with my own kid/s.
26 - If something is bothering you, do you have to fix it right away? Not always. Sometimes I run away from it first.
27 - Are there any household jobs you enjoy doing? If so, what’s the reason that you enjoy those things? This isn’t much of a chore as washing dishes or cleaning the bathroom, but I love making my bed. It gives me a sense of productivity and accomplishment, and it’s honestly a form of self-care. I always have the option of letting my bed stay messy and then feeling like shit about it the whole day, so when I do make my bed and fold up my blanket and everything, it gets a little easier to pat myself on the shoulder.
28 - Do you still live in the area you grew up in? Would you like to live somewhere else one day? Where would you go? Yeah, we literally just moved to the village right next to the one I grew up in. I’ve lived here nearly all my life, so I can’t wait to move someplace else. In the city, preferably; with skyscrapers and the constant sound of traffic, construction, and people walking. I feel I’d be happier there.
29 - Do you smoke, drink or do drugs? How old were you the first time you tried those things?  Do you want to quit? I drink, vape, and smoke, but I’m not reliant on any of these. I had my first drink at 18, and I smoked and vaped for the first time when I was 21. No, I don’t have plans to quit.
30 - What’s one thing that really grosses you out? Is it something you have to deal with anyway? How do you cope? Cockroaches. Sometimes we’ll see a cockroach roaming around the house, but it’s super rare so I wouldn’t say I regularly deal with them. I cope by yelling for my mom or dad to come kill it, ha.

Clarke’s POV
I stood there looking at the burning buildings, hurt people, both mine and Lexa’s. The fire and screaming, it was so much. I saw a horse running while on fire and then a woman collapsed on the ground holding her own severed arm… I started to make my way over to her but someone grabbed me. I couldn’t hear what they were saying or who it was, I was in too much shock.
“Clarke!” Lexa said turning me around to face her.
“I could have warned them… I could have saved them…” I said to her.
“If they see us, they’ll strike again.” She said and I went to turn back around, but she made me face her again.
“Clarke. Victory stands on the back of sacrifice. You know that, just like your sister knows. Y/N is willing to give her life for me because she knows that if I live, we will win.” She said and I stared at the ground.
“I want the Mountain Men dead. All of them.” I said looking in her eyes. She nodded and walked off, I followed.
Octavia’s POV
Lincoln and I were helping save anyone we could. The explosion caused havoc, so many screams, both from the living and they dying. Abby came here to help as well, it was good to have a doctor here. Lincoln was checking for people under what use to be a building while I was checking for safer ways to enter.
“Lincoln, be careful. It’s not stable.” I said to him.
“They’re down there. Unh!” He grunted while trying to lift a piece of metal.
“Do you hear someone? Abby asked worried. I ran over to where she was helping someone and crouched down.
“Abby?” I said and she looked at me.
“I’m sure Clarke’s okay. We’ll find her.” I said.
“Indra! She’s alive!” Lincoln called, Abby and I ran over as he pulled a rock off her.
“Indra?” He asked trying to get her to answer him. He grabbed her and pulled her out from under the rubble.
“Stand ai daun, Reaper!” (Put me down, Reaper!) She shouted and pushed him off her. She stood up and looked around. Before she could say anything a gun went off and she was shot in the shoulder. She fell to the ground and we all went with her, ducking our heads.
“Octavia, go!” Lincoln shouted at me and I ran for cover.
Clarke’s POV
We were walking away from the screams and crackling of flames. I was following Lexa when we heard gunfire. I paused making her pause and looked back shocked.
“The spotter.” I said and started walking towards him.
“He aimed the missile. He’s alone.” I said.
“Clarke, just slow down.” She said grabbing my arm to stop me.
“If he’s a spotter, he’s here to make sure we’re dead. If he tells the Mountain we’re alive-”
“He won’t.” I said shaking my head.
“How can you be sure?” She asked.
“Because I’m gonna kill him.” I said and she looked at me shocked. We made our way to him.
Jasper’s POV
We were gathering anything we could as weapons and anything to block the entrances. I found an axe and broke the glass it was covered with.
“Jasper, where do you want this?” Miller asked carrying one of the bed frames with another guy.
“Put it here.” I said telling them to put it against the double doors.
“No weak spots. We need to make sure they don’t get in.” I said and they pushed it against the door.
“We took the level! But now we have to hold it! They will be coming, and we need to be ready!” I shouted at everyone.
“Harper, get some pots and fill them with water. As big as you can find, okay?” I asked her and she looked at me confused but went to do as I asked.
“Watch out!” Fox called and smashed a camera.
“Good, Fox. Let’s go get those hallway cameras, right?” I said.
“Nope. Leave the hallway cameras. We’ll need eyes out there.” Monty said walking by.
“You can do that?” I asked following him.
“Have you met me?” He asked back and I smirked slightly.
“Where are we on the doors?” I asked.
“Elevators are all disabled. I shorted the other stairwell locks. This one’s tricky, though. I can’t seem to-” He started, but I took the end of the axe and smashed the panel with it.
“That works too.” He said and we looked back to see everyone working.
“How long do you think we can hold them off?” I asked.
“As long as we have to.” He answered and I nodded.
“Jasper, what about Y/N?” He asked and I just looked at him then sighed.
“I don’t know, I’m sure Bellamy will find a way to get her out.” I answered and he nodded.
Octavia’s POV
Abby had found someone alive down below, but couldn’t get to them. We were being pinned down by gunshots. Abby tried, but she was almost hit.
“I gotta get down there.” She said to me. I heard Indra groan in pain and looked over to see Lincoln picking her up while someone else ran, distracting the gunman. The guy was shot just in front of Abby and Lincoln was running past me.
“Octavia, come on!” He said and I followed him. The gunman tried to shoot at us, but missed. We made it to Nyko and Lincoln put Indra down for him to look at.
“What are we gonna do? We can’t move.” Nyko said.
“I’m going for the shooter.” Lincoln said and I looked at him.
“I’ll sound the horn when it’s done.” He said.
“Alright, my friend.” Nyko said.
“I’m going with you.” I said stopping him before he could leave.
“No, Nyko needs you here.” He said stopping me.
“Are you sure you’re up to this?” I asked.
“Ge stomp round, ge on up no don time” (Get knocked down, get back up!) He said what I said to him and I nodded.
“What can I do?” I asked Nyko as soon as Lincoln left.
“Pressure, here.” He said and I pushed on her shoulder.
“This is my village. You’re the chief Second. Save our people.” She said.
“We’re pinned down. And the other Seconds won’t follow me.” I said.
“So make them.” She said breathing heavy and closing her eyes.
“Indra?” I asked worried. She shut her eyes and I looked up at Nyko.
“She’s losing too much blood.” He said.
“Indra! We have to do something.” I said looking at the others that were there.
“Thanks Sky Girl, but there’s nothing to do until the sniper is dead.” Caris said.
Jasper’s POV
We had everything set up. We were all waiting for them to strike. I looked around the room and could tell everyone was worried and scared. Honestly if they weren’t I would be shocked. Monty was watching the cameras like a hawk waiting to see if they would do anything. There was a loud bang outside making everyone get up and clutch their weapons.
“We’re not ready for this.” Fox said coming up to me.
“Yes, we are. Just follow the plan and we’ll be okay.” I said and she looked back at me scared.
“I promise.” I said with a nod.
“Okay.” She said quietly and walked away.
“No guns. You were right.” Monty said showing me the camera.
“It’s because they can’t kill us.” I said looking at the screen.
“Not like this anyway.” I added.
“Be careful with that thing. We’re in close.” Miller told Harper who was holding a gun.
“You could hit one of us.” He added and she nodded.
“Wait a second. Some of them aren’t wearing hazmat suits.” Monty said.
“What’s it mean?” Miller asked.
“It means they’re cured.” I answered.
“The marrow treatments worked.” I added.
“Get this down!” We heard someone say from the other side of the door.
“Get ready!” I told everyone. They started trying to break down the doors and after a minute got them open. They still couldn’t get in since we blocked the entrance up with stuff. They threw in the cylinders with pink smoke then started trying to get the barrier down. We grabbed the cylinders and tossed them in the water then pretended to be passed out on the ground. They walked in and saw up and one of them saw the bombs in the water. I got up and slashed someone in the leg with the axe and screamed. Everyone else got up and started fighting with the guards. We were stabbing, hacking, shooting, smashing, anything we could do to kill them.
“Retreat! Retreat! Pull back! Pull back now! Get up!” One of the guards said and they started running out.
“We did it!” I shouted. Everyone was cheering, but they would try again.
“Seal the barricade!” I ordered.
“No!” We heard Fox shout.
“Jasper! You promised!” She called out.
“Fox!” I shouted and started running to try and save her. Miller grabbed me and help me back.
“Fox! No! No! I promised she’d be okay!” I shouted trying to get him off me. It was useless, Miller was stronger and I stopped fighting, he hugged me.
“I promised her…” I said sadly. I noticed one of the guards trying to crawl away on the ground. I walked over to him and raised the axe in the air. I shouted and slammed the axe down into him and he was dead within seconds.
Bellamy’s POV
I was still in the guard outfit and knew that Jasper and them took the fifth level. I heard Fox screaming and followed her and the guards down to the lab. I walked in and saw her trying to run and pointed a gun at her, making her stop in her tracks.
“Thanks.” One of the guards said and I moved the gun and shot him in the head, then quickly shot the other one. I put the gun away as they fell to the ground and turned to Fox. I took my helmet off and she ran up to me.
“Bellamy!” She said in relief.
“You okay?” I asked hugging her back and she just sobbed. Maya walked in and I looked at her.
“Come on. We have to get her someplace safe.” She said and we left, I shut the lab door so no one would no… at least for now.  Maya lead us to her room in the Mountain.
“Dad, you’re home.” She said.
“Yeah.” We heard a man say and then she walked in. She looked back at us and we walked in.
“Yeah, the drill bit broke again.” He said and then got up looked at us shocked.
“What are they doing here?” He asked.
“Look, they’re in trouble. We just need someplace safe to stay.” Maya said.
“They need to go, now.” He said.
“Let me explain.” Maya begged.
“Why don’t you explain where he got that uniform.” He said looking at me.
“Maya, you know how dangerous this is. What are you doing?” He asked his daughter.
“What mom would’ve done.” She answered.
“I need you to leave.” He said to us.
“Sorry, we can’t do that.” I said.
“That’s okay. He’s gonna help us.” Maya said.
“Really? Because I’m not getting that.” I said.
“My parents were part of a movement that was against using outsider blood. My mom refused the treatments, and it killed her. She was willing to die for what she believed in.” She answered.
“Maya, you were five. I couldn’t leave you alone.” Her father said.
“I’m not a little girl anymore.” She said.
“They were willing to kill you before. If you get caught-”
“We won’t if you help us.” She said cutting him off.
“Please.” Fox chimed in.
“They’re killing us. We don’t have anywhere else to go.” She said.
“Just this once.” Maya’s father said to me.
“Just for one night.” He said to Maya.
“Bedroom’s this way.” Maya said taking Fox.
“Thank you.” I said going to follow me, but he stopped me.
“You know they’ll never stop, right? If the rumors are true and your bone marrow can get us back to the ground, they’ll never stop.” He said and I nodded. I walked to the bedroom to the girls.
Clarke’s POV
Lexa and I were still trying to find the shooter.
“It’ll be light soon. We won’t have the darkness to hide us.” Lexa said.
“Neither will he.” I pointed out.
“I feel your anger, Clarke.” She said.
“Do me a favor. No more lessons.” I said.
“You need to focus. We do what we must to survive. The enemy does the same. It’s not personal.” She said.
“It is to me.” I said.
“You think killing the shooter will make you feel better, but it won’t. The only thing that will is winning this war.” She said.
“That’s enough.” I said stopping and turning to face her. Before I could say anything more we hear someone moving in the woods. We crouched down and saw someone running around.
“Is it him?” Lexa asked as I aimed my gun.
“No.” I said and walked towards him.
“Lincoln.” I called to him.
“Clarke.” He said standing and walking towards us.
“Commander, wh-?” He started confused.
“Octavia said you were-”
“You’ve seen Octavia?” I asked cutting him off.
“Yeah. The few that survived the explosion are being pinned down by a sniper. It’s why I’m here.” He answered then we heard another gunshot.
“Come on, we need to get to the high ground.” Lexa said and we followed her.
Bellamy’s POV
Maya and I left the room leaving Fox with her father. We walked down the halls and Maya was telling me information that would help.
“Lovejoy’s key card will get you in the armory. The guns are locked. The guard has the key. I can lure him away if-”
“There’s no time. Once I get the guns, how do I get them to Level five? They’re watching every door.” I asked.
“Maybe not. The mess hall has a trash chute.” She said.
“A Trash chute?” I asked.
“There’s one on every level. Best part, no radiation alarms. The hatches leak like crazy, so they put in these air locks to be safe. You get the guns. I’ll get them into the mess hall.” She said.
“You’re a natural-born revolutionary.” I said.
“My mom was the revolutionary. I’m just trying to do what’s right.” She said.
“Meet back here in 30 minutes.” I said and we went our separate ways.
Not long after I left to get the guns I heard Cage’s voice over the radio. What he said gave me enough incentive to turn around and abandon the gun idea.
Jasper’s POV
We moved all the bodies into the elevator and took all the walkies. We were getting ready for the next fight that we would have to win.
“They’re gonna come in a lot hotter next time. You know that right?” Miller said coming up to me.
“All we gotta do is hold the floor until Bellamy finds a way out.” I answered.
“We’re gonna need more than a bucket or water and four guns to do that.” Miller said.
“This is President Wallace talking to the people who killed ten of my men.” Cage’s voice rang over the radio and I picked it up.
“Jasper.” Monty said handing me the screen. There was someone in a hazmat suit in the hall.
“I thought we’d try something a little different this time.” Cage said.
“There’s only 20 minutes of oxygen in Maya’s suit. Now I know she’s a friend of yours. In 20 minutes, your friend will either suffocate or burn. But you can save her. All you have to do is surrender.” He said and I looked at the doors that Maya was behind.
Y/N’s POV
I woke up who knows how much later and got off the bed. I walked over to the door and peered out the window. I saw two guards standing watch. Damn it… Who am I kidding? I’m still too damn drugged up to do anything… but I had to know what’s going on. I started banging on the door and the guards looked at me. One opened the door and I stepped back.
“What is it?” One asked once they entered the room.
“Where is Cage?” I asked.
“President Wallace is busy, he asked us to keep an eye on you.” The other said.
“I need to see him. Now.” I said with my arms crossed.
“I’m sorry Miss, but that’s not possible. He’s very busy.” The first one said. I huffed and did something stupid. I grabbed his walkie and rushed to the other side of the room.
“Cage? Cage? Can you hear me?” I asked.
“Hey! Give that back!” The guard yelled.
“Y/N? How do you have a walkie?” Cage asked.
“I took it from one of the guards that you have watching me. I asked them to take me to you, but they wouldn’t. Please let me see you.” I begged. I needed to know my friends were alright. The guard grabbed me and the other one took the walkie from my hands.
“Sorry sir, we have her restrained now. Would you like me to put her back to sleep?” He asked.
“Let me go!” I shouted, I know Cage heard because I shouted it before the guard could finish his sentence.
“No, bring her to me.” He said and I felt relief wash over me. Wow, I never thought I would be so grateful that I would be seeing this monster…
Octavia’s POV
It was day now. We were still pinned down by the gunman and Indra was still bleeding. We had to do something without anyone getting shot. I knew Lincoln would do his job, but he was taking too long.
“We can’t wait anymore. Our people are dying down there.” Atohl said. I looked around to see what we could do.
“If we can get to the crater we could tunnel in from the side.” I said looking back.
“There’s no cover.” Caris said.
“I’ll do it.” Atohl said and got up and started running. Before he could get far there was a bullet whizzing past him.
“Get back, get back!” I called to him trying to help him, I pulled him back to cover.
“Any other bad ideas? Caris asked. I grabbed the bottle Atohl drank from and took a sip to make sure it was alcohol.
“Just one.” I said closing the bottle. I threw it into a somewhat near by fire and watch it grow. The smoke started forming and once there was enough I ran for it. The gunman took a shot at me, but missed and I made it to cover. Caris and Atohl followed me.
“Now what, Sky Girl?” She asked.
“Now we dig.” I answered.
“Stay down, stay down, stay down. Move it.” I said and we started moving rocks out of the way.
Y/N’s POV
The guards took me to Cage just like he ordered them to. He was in what looked to be a command room. As soon as the door opened and we walked in Cage pulled me to him.
“Are you alright?” He asked looking me over and I nodded.
“That’ll be all, wait outside. Everyone.” He said. Everyone nodded and left the room.
“What’s so important that you needed to see me?” He asked.
“How long was I asleep for?” I asked.
“About six hours, I’m sorry love. I just want you to be safe.” He said holding me to him.
“My friends, are they okay? Everyone seems a little freaked out.” I said and he pulled back to look at me.
“They’ve killed ten of our people Y/N. We sent a bargaining chip in for them to surrender.” He answered and I looked at him confused.
“What?” I asked and he sighed.
“You’ll see.” He said and then called everyone back in.
Jasper’s POV
We went and got Maya out of the hall and I sat her down on a piano bench.
“Are you okay?” I asked and she nodded.
“Yeah.” She answered. Monty came over and knelt down in front of her.
“Listen to me. Fox is okay.” She said and we both looked at her.
“Bellamy saved her. He’s gonna get some guns in here through the trash chute.” She said.
“If we can get guns in, we can get you out.” I said and she nodded.
“No, we can’t.” Monty said and we looked at him.
“I dismantled the chute.” He said and I looked away.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t think we’d be trying to open it ourselves.” He said and I started trying to think of something. Monty placed his hand on Maya’s hand and looked up at her.
“I can fix it.” He said then looked at me. I nodded and he left to go fic the chute.
“Go help him.” I said to hiller and he nodded and followed Monty.
“Harper” He called while he was leaving. I looked back at Maya and she looked so scared.
“I won’t let you die.” I said.
“I won’t let you surrender.” She said back.
Abby’s POV
After I got inside to see who was under there I learned it was Marcus. I tried to free him, but in doing so the building collapsed more. We were both trapped under the rubble and knocked out. Once I came to I tried to see if I could move to help him.
“Marcus?” I asked, but there was no response. I could only move my arm so I grabbed the flash light and turned it on. He was there and I could see he was still breathing.
“Marcus. Marcus, Wake up.” I called to him and I saw him move his head.
“Open your eyes. You have to wake up, Marcus. Open your eyes.” I said.
“I’m so cold.” He whispered shivering.
“I’m right here. I’m right here.” I whispered back. He opened his eyes and looked at me.
“I’m okay.” He whispered.
“I’m sorry, Marcus.” I said and he looked at me confused.
“I’m so sorry.” I said.
“It’s not your fault, Abby.” He said.
“It is my fault. She’s my daughter.” I said with tears in my eyes.
“What are you talking about?” He asked.
“She knew.” I said.
“Clarke escaped? Before the attack?” He asked and I slightly nodded.
“She knew it was coming?” He asked.
“Yes.” I confirmed.
“How could she do something like this?” I asked.
“Because she grew up on The Ark.” He answered and I looked at him.
“She learned what to do from us.” He said.
“She let this happen. She could’ve stopped it.” I said.
“She made a choice. Like executing people for stealing medicine and food. Like cheating. Like sucking the air from the lungs of 300 parents so they could save their children.”
“Like floating the man you love to save your people. Like sending your second daughter to the ground because she wasn’t supposed to be born.” I said and he looked at me.
“Yes…” He said a tear falling from his eye.
“Why didn’t you inform me about sending our daughter to the ground?” He asked with tears in his eyes.
“Because, I knew you’d never let her go and we needed to see if it was survivable.” I answered.
“We need to answer for our sins, Abby.” He said.
“After all we’ve done, do we even deserve to survive?” I asked.
Jasper’s POV
After some time, we went to go see if we could help Monty.
“She’s almost out of oxygen. It’s been 19 minutes.” Harper said looking at her watch.
“You’re not helping, Harper.” Maya said out of breath.
“Don’t worry, we’ll get it open. Won’t we, Monty?” I asked.
“Almost there.” He said.
“Almost isn’t good enough.” Miller said.
“I just need to bypass- Oh!” He said cutting himself off when the wires sparked.
“Screw it.” He said and pulled off a wire.
“What the hell did you do?” Miller asked.
“Cut the power to the motor, Help me.” He said and they started trying to pull it open.
“We can’t get leverage.” Miller said.
“There’s someone in there!” Harper said.
“They’re coming in!” I shouted and held up the gun in my hands. The door to the chute opened and Bellamy was in there.
“Bellamy!” Monty said.
“Get her in here.” He said and we helped her in.
“Go, go, go! Hurry up!” I said following them down. We slid down and I ripped her helmet off. She was gasping for air and I hugged her.
“I got you.” I said holding her.
“Decontamination complete. All clear.” A computer voice said. I handed Bellamy the gun and he took it from me.
Bellamy’s POV
We got Maya out of there with no time to spare. Her dad walked in the room and she looked at him shocked.
“Dad? What are you doing here?” She asked.
“What your mother would have done.” He answered and they hugged. Jasper smiled and hugged me.
“Hey, listen to me.” I said when we pulled apart.
“Clarke is coming with an army of Grounders.” I said.
“What?” He asked.
“We have to keep all of you safe till then.” I said.
“Don’t tell me Finn finally got his peace talks.” Jasper said with a smile and I looked down.
“Something like that.” I said.
“Come on, we got a lot of work to do.” I said, changing the subject.
“Maya, do you know where Cage’s room is?” I asked her.
“It’s on Level Seven. Why?” She asked.
“You guys finish getting everyone out. I’m going to get Y/N.” I said.
“You can’t, what if Cage is there?” Jasper said.
“He won’t be. He’s too busy with us.” I answered and left.
Y/N’s POV
“What if you send me in to talk to them?” I asked Cage and he shook his head at me.
“Not in a million years. They’d never give you up.” He said and I sighed. It was worth a shot.
“Please Cage, killing an innocent girl isn’t going to do anything!” I tried reasoning.
“Y/N! You are not going in there and that is final!” He shouted. I looked down and nodded. He sighed and came over to me.
“You’re too special for me to lose.” He said and kissed my head.
Clarke’s POV
It was light now and we were getting to high grown still looking for the gunman. We paused when I saw him, but he saw use too. He fired at us and we ducked behind a rock.
“So much for the element of surprise.” Lexa said.
“I’ll draw his fire.” Lincoln said.
“No.” I said before he could leave.
“I will.” I said and started shooting back at him. He ducked down while Lincoln ran to sneak up behind him. I ducked back behind the rock with Lexa. I looked out and saw he was coming out of his spot to try and find us. I saw Lincoln jump on him and attack him. He knocked his gun out of his hands and they started fighting. Lincoln knocked him to the ground and pulled out his knife. He was ready to stab him when the guy pulled out a transmitter. Lincoln dropped the knife to grab his head and fell off the guy. The guy grabbed him and held a knife to his throat. I came out of the hiding spot and held my gun at him.
“Drop the weapon.” He said to me and Lexa came out as well.
“Just let him kill me, then take him out.” Lincoln said.
“Clarke, please!” He begged.
“Your people need you.” He added.
“You are my people.” I said and shot the guy in the chest through Lincoln’s shoulder.
“Good shot.” He said looking up at me with a smirk.
“Did that make you feel better?” Lexa asked.
“No.” I answered, letting the tears fall.
Octavia’s POV
We were still digging out a tunnel, but it was taking too long. Indra needed help now, but we couldn’t stop. This was the only way.
“It’s no use.” Caris said.
“Come on, we can do this.” I said and then a horn blew in the distance.
“Wait. Listen.” She said stopping me. We came out and looked towards the Mountain.
“Lincoln. He did it.” I said with a smile.
“We still can’t get them out.” She said.
“Wanna bet? Get back in there.” I said. And we went to continue.
Y/N’s POV
“Come on, let’s go see what’s going on.” Cage said.
“Let me come, please.” I begged.
“No. stay here.” he said.
“I can help!” I said.
“No Y/N.” He said.
“Cage they won’t kill me, you know that. I can help you with them.” I said trying to make it seem like I was on their side.
“Sir, she’s right. She may be able to help.” A guard said.
“Fine. You stay with me the whole time.” He said and I nodded. He grabbed my hand and lead me down some halls and stairs.
“It’s been 30 minutes. So the girl is dead by now.” The head guard said.
“I know that, lieutenant. They’ve made their choice.” Cage said and I looked up at him confused.
“What choice?” I asked.
“Go in strong. Take them alive if you can, but take them.” He said and my eyes widened.
“No! You can’t kill them!” I said trying to pull out of his grip.
“We already have been.” Cage answered.
“Copy that.” The lieutenant said.
“Deploying flashbangs!” One guard said. I watched as explosions went off and the guards pushed into the room.
“Mr. President.” The lieutenant called out. Cage walked in pulling me along.
“Find them.” He said.
“Yes sir!” They called out and left the room.
“If I find out that you somehow had something to do with this-”
“I didn’t I swear!” I said cutting him off and he narrowed his eyes at me.
“Let’s go. You’re going back in our room and the door is staying locked.” He said and pulled me in the direction of our room.
Bellamy’s POV
I got to Cage’s room just in time to see him locking Y/N in. I hid and waited for him to leave. Once he did and I was sure he wasn’t coming back I rushed to the room. I knocked on the window to get Y/N’s attention and she weakly looked up. I grabbed the key card I had and opened the door. I rushed in and knelt on the bed next to her.
“Y/N, are you okay?” I asked.
“Bellamy? How’d you get in here?” She asked weakly.
“No time. We gotta get you out of here.” I said pulling her up, she was almost like dead weight.
“Bellamy… He drugged me again…” She said.
“Shit.. Okay.” I said and lifted her up. I ran out the door and back to the others as quick as I could.
Y/N’s POV
Bellamy rescued me. I don’t know how he’s in here, I don't remember him being in here. Maybe he was and they’ve just drugged me too much. Either way, I was saved!
“You got her!” I heard Jasper’s voice.
“Yeah, but she’s weak. Drugs.” Bellamy said.
“Someone needs to take her so Jasper and I can lead.” He added.
“I got her.” I heard Monty say and then I was being switched into his arms.
“Hey, just try and stay awake okay? We’re gonna get you back to Clarke.” Monty said.
“And Murphy.” Bellamy said and I looked over at him.
“Yeah, he’s back at camp Jaha.” He added and I gave him a small smile.
“Alright, let me go up ahead and make sure it’s safe.” Bellamy said. After a minute I heard him give the call clear and we started walking down a hall.
“What is this?” Jasper asked.
“Relax, Maya took out the cameras.” Bellamy said.
“Yeah well, we’re still sitting ducks in a group like this.” Miller said.
“You’re right, so we’re gonna split up.” Bellamy said and my eyes widened.
“No. We do this together. We survive together.” Monty said stopping Bellamy.
“Bellamy’s right.” Jasper said.
“Well they don’t trust Maya anymore. Who the hell’s gonna help us now?” Miller asked. Bellamy motioned his head for everyone to follow him and we walked a bit further to see people standing in the hall.
“They are.” Bellamy said.
“We’re going to hide you. Not everyone here agrees with Cage. Not by a long shot.” Maya said.
“Come with me. We’ll divide you along the way.” A man said.
“Monty, you can put me down. I think I can walk now.” I said. “Are you sure?” He asked and I nodded. He placed me on my feet as everyone started walking. I took a few steps then fell.
“I got you!” Jasper said catching me.
“Thanks…” I said.
“You’ll be okay.”
“Let’s go. You’re safe now, quick. Go this way.” The man said ushering the kids along. Jasper, Monty, Bellamy and I were the last people in the hall.
“Hey, we’re coming with you.” Jasper said to Bellamy.
“No, you’re not. They still don’t know I’m here. I need to keep it that way.” He said.
“So, what do we do?” Monty asked.
“Stay alive. Be ready to fight and protect Y/N. She’s too weak to fight.” He said.
“I can fight!” I said trying to stand on my own again but failing, damn these drugs!
“No you can’t, you can barely stand.” Monty said.
“War is coming.” Bellamy said then left.
“Come on. I can try and help get the drug out of her.” Maya said and she lead us down the hall.
Octavia’s POV
“It’s still not working!” Caris said and another horn blew.
“Sky People!” A woman shouted.
“A group of them!” A man shouted. We climbed out of the ditch and I saw Sinclare and others following him.
“We saw the missile. Heard the blast. Figured you could use some help.” He said.
“Just in time. Thank you.” I said.
“Alright! I need everybody on that rope.” I called out. Everyone got on and we started pulling. We managed to create and opening and I looked in.
“We got two survivors!” I called then went inside to see if I can help get them out.
“Abby! Kane! We\ll get you out of here.” I called and climbed further in to them.
“We’re gonna be okay.” I head Abby say to Kane. It was dark when we finally got them out. I grabbed a blanket and put it over Kan.
“Here you go.” I said and then I looked up to see Lincoln. I got up and we ran to each other. He picked me up in his arms and I was so relieved that I kissed him.
“You did it.” I said with a smile.
“Yeah, I had a little help.” He said and I looked up to see Clarke and Lexa. The Grounders noticed Lexa and started chanting Heda, she held up her hand to silence them.
“What happened here will not stand! The Mountain will fall! The dead will be avenged!” She shouted and everyone cheered.
“Enough! That’s enough!” Abby shouted quieting everyone.
“There are still others in the wreckage. We heard them. Go to work!” She shouted and everyone started moving. Once we got everyone out I noticed Indra was up, Lincoln and I walked over to her.
“You’ve done well, Octavia of the Sky People. Today you saved lives. Tomorrow you’ll take them. Now, get my gear. We leave with the commander.” She said and I left. Once I got her stuff I was bringing them back to her, but I saw her and Lincoln making up.
“I thought you were dead. I’m glad you’re not.” I said to Clarke when she walked over to me.
“You too.” She said. I walked over to Indra and helped her with her gear. Once everything was in order we followed Lexa who would lead us to victory with Clarke against The Mountain men.
