😊 Murder at the Island Hotel (Miss Underhay Mystery #15) (Helena Dixon, author; Karen Cass, narrator) - Kitty & Alice go to an island hotel to certify it for the local hotel owners assn & of course murder happens.

😍 Operation: Gros Michel (SquadOfCats) - 358K, stucky recovery fic - incredible, phenomenal fic - really digging in to trauma & recovery but in a way that doesn't feel too heavy/dark for very long - Steve's POV so we see his healing & recovery, and his finding purpose again. Amazing OCs. Plus a lot of really, really yummy sexy times. Reminds you that hope is an action, hope is hard, and hope has many manifestations of being. also makes you love Florida at least a little bit.

😊 Where The Inevitable Isn't (Survivah) - 41K, sterek, alternate dimension AU - enjoyable dimension hopping fic with Stiles Prime portaling to a more dystopic/gritty dimension where he & D are super together. I really liked the aspect that they could ping pong back & forth between dimensions, it wasn't just a one-time thing

6. Who's a character you love seeing interacting with [x]?

OKAY okay okay Okay there’s so many characters I want Donna to interact/be friends with,

I want her to be friends with Karen, as a fellow victim of the narrative (and a fellow New Yorker)

I also think she and Helena B would make great friends? At least great foils: one character was adopted into a family of love and virtue and the other into a family still of love but also of control, corruption, and politics. I’d love to have them look at each other and sort of recognize the faults in each other’s upbringings and how that reflects in them as adults, plus Helena needs more friends and I’m always willing to outsource Dick’s lol.

I’m also trying to think of characters who aren’t just blorbos that I like seeing interact, I think maybe Booster Gold? If you wanted to still run with the idea that she in her future becomes evil (which I think is an interesting idea, I’m always down for characters who after so much time just become numb to it all) I’d love to see her go to him and ask about herself in the future.

20. If you were given a comic run for character [x], what would you write about?

GOD IF ONLY….there are so many things I’d do with Donna….I’d want to give her magic, I’d want her to be able to embrace a life of confusion and misdirection and fear all because those things are gateways to being loved. I’d want her to think she’s just too much, she’s so all over the place, completely impossible to understand. But then her friends try anyways. Her loved ones try anyways. It’s all worth it when the mortifying ordeal of being known leads to the gratifying ordeal of being loved. I’d want it to be bloody and ferocious and torrential and overwhelming. Until it’s kind and soft. But there’s still the sense of dread because it never ends does it. The drip doesn’t stop for her.

And there’s a tiger, because tigers are fucking cool.

At this point I’m like 90% sure that “Ryan Wilder” is a cover name for Helena Wayne/Kyle. As you can see in this picture below it implies that she likes cats. Helena Wayne/Kyle’s mum is Catwoman. Also, it says that she is highly trained and if she just happened to be the secret love child between Batman and Catwoman (who, I’m guessing, didn’t tell Batman about their secret love child) I pretty certain she would of trained her daughter pretty damn well. It also says she can “kill you with her bare hands”. I’m pretty sure that Catwoman, again, would’ve trained her daughter well enough to do that.

And, judging from the leaked casting tapes it sounds like her mother was murdered by Scarecrow. Reasons? Well, imagine what would happen if someone found out about the BatCat love child. Well, they wouldn’t be the happiest supervillain in the world if they found out a fellow thief is hooking up with Gotham’s resident vigilante. Supervillain logic in this scenario: Murder. Which is how “Ryan’s” mum (Catwoman) ends up dying. So, “Ryan” (or Helena Wayne/Kyle) stays on the streets for a bit, starts doing drugs to drown out her pain (as seen in the casting call). Eventually, Batwoman appears. And “Ryan” becomes inspired by her, so when she ‘disappears’ Ryan goes snooping. She eventually finds the Batsuit under Wayne Enterprises and establishes that Bruce Wayne is Batman (and also her dad). She then realises that since Kate Kane has been running WE she must be Batwoman.

At this point she decides to steal the suit to get revenge on the man who murdered her mum, which doesn’t go so well as we can see from the audition tapes since “The batsuit is practically a computer” but she manages to convince Luke/Mary/Julia that she can help them find Alice/Hush if they help her find Scarecrow. At which point we get into the whole “Ryan” (or Helena W/K) training to be Batwoman and Luke (hopefully!) training to be Batwing. Eventually she ends up either getting fear gassed pretty badly and Luke gives her an antidote based off Bruce’s DNA (which he doesn’t tell her, he just hopes it’ll cure her enough for her to develop an antidote based off her own DNA) which works leading him to connect the dots, OR he gets curious naturally and starts doing some digging into her past which leads to the reveal of her parents. At which point “Ryan” is kinda shocked BUT she’s technically a Wayne which makes her (rightfully) the successor to the bat mantle. But after defeating Scarecrow/Alice/Hush/anyone they decide to add she decides that she doesn’t want to be Batwoman, it’s Kate’s mantle (leaving the opportunity for Kate to reappear- now recast) but says she still wants to be a vigilante. At which point she either decides to make her own mantle (Huntress) or decides that she could take up her Mom’s mantle (Catwoman) but as a hero.

Also, just the relationship between Kara Zor-El/Kara Danvers/Karen Starr aka Supergirl/Powergirl and Helena Wayne/Kyle aka Huntress in the comics is something to be treasured and I just want to see that friendship in a tv show (They both give off major gay vibes when you read some of their interactions in the comics).

Annihilation Day

A Matt Murdock x ofc story

Please enjoy this sneak peek at the first chapter/intro I'm writing!!!

(full warning I have religious trauma so I will be using this as a method to unpack that LOL)

Annihilationism was a concept with which Matthew Murdock was more than well acquainted with. Being a Catholic left little room for grace towards himself and far too much room for the overwhelming pessimism of what hell was going to do to him, when the devil, the real devil, would finally sink his claws into him.

To say Matt was comfortable in the company of misery would be an understatement. He would work himself into the ground during the day and then work himself into the early grave he may as well have dug for himself during the night. It was a miracle he was able to keep his secret hobby, well, a secret. With how many bruises and minorly broken bones he’d endured from his nights out, he thought for sure Foggy and Karen would’ve caught onto him by now.

But Matt had always been good at lying. He didn’t necessarily enjoy it- yaknow catholic- but he had convinced himself that it was the only way to protect the very few people in his life that he cared about. It was safe to say that Matt made his peace with dying a long time ago, it certainly made his job of keeping Hell’s Kitchen safe a lot easier.

He decided that she was far too good for annihilation, and maybe he could deserve to be too, by her side. His own personal St. Helena.

But all of that changed when he met her. She coaxed him out of his personal hell fire with her soft touch and warm smile and back into his own present body for perhaps the first time in years. After her, Matt no longer concerned himself with the concept of inevitable annihilation. No- because she made Matt feel alive, and more than just the feeling he got when he would miraculously thrash back into consciousness from the brink of death. She made him want to live.

Can I just imagine Dick Grayson trapped in an identity crisis? He was raised as a showman from birth, was born and raised in the spotlight. From a very young age he learned to "adapt" to the desires of his audience and to be what is expected of him. Didn't that drive him crazy? Richie, Robin, Red X, Nightwing, Renegade, Batman, Agent 07, Ric, Talon and Dickie-boy were masks that Dick wore by choice or not. If Bruce sometimes gets lost so much with the Batman mask, can you imagine Dick with so many that he wore?

I think he sometimes knows how he should act and is confused. Moments that he just stops and faces the situation without expressing anything, as if his mind was trying to understand what he should be at that moment. The fervent follower? The fearless leader? The fellow friend? The aggressive rival? The watchful cold? The responsible brother? Sometimes he just doesn't know and he panics.

There are days when he has 1001% that he loves his family, that he would do anything for them and no matter what will be there for them. He is absolutely sure that he loves his team, and that he would do anything to help his friends and his former mentors. That he loves to be Nightwing.

But there are days that just ... he wonders if he really loves them or he acts like he loves them just because the environment around him asks for it. Does he really care about his team or is it expected of him? Does he really care about Damian or does he just do it because the boy needs him? Did he really love Kori and Barbara, or did he just get carried away by people who said they would be a beautiful couple? He doesn't know, and it scares him.

Do people really know you? Does he know himself? Did he open up to someone for real or just pretend to make him happy?

He doesn't know who Dick Grayson is, he doesn't even know if that persona even existed! He always wanted to be what his audience needed to the point that even he has no idea who he is. Perhaps Ric was the real Dick, a bitter man who does not want to be involved in heroism and wanted to live in peace. But nobody liked Ric, apart from Bea, so what was he supposed to do?

Extra for Comfort: I think his friends first noticed these crises. Identity crises always ended in panic attacks so they started to notice this when they were in their teens.

Dick never told them what it was at the time, but they made a point of being there for him when needed. Distract her mind from whatever crazy she was trying to do.

Wally and Roy were playing video games with Dick

Garth and Donna asked for help in learning other languages

Lily and Joey started a Gartic match with him

Zatanna and Raven did magic tricks for Dick or asked for help to train some things

Gar and Cyborg dragged Dick into the kitchen to make some food from a random country

Kori and Dawn asked for help in training

Mal and Henry placed bets with Dick on stupid games

Jinx and Karen practically forced Dick to have a "spa day" with them

And don't think that they are the only ones who help with this! Dick's family also tries to help at these times, even though they end up being more curious than the Titans about the situation.

But even so, Damian asks Dick for help at school, Tim asks them to go on a mission together, Jason reads stories from the Brothers Grimm to Dick, Cass asks him to dance, Steph asks for companionship to make pranks, Barbara brings the best Realitys Show to Dick to watch and judge with her, Duke calls to see movies from disney and Selina to shop. Bruce doesn't normally approach these moments, but when he does, he takes one of his old comics to read with Dick. Clark in these moments tells stories of Krypton that Kara told him.

He also has Midnighter and Apollo who drag him on a short, random mission. Tiger who calls him to walk around the city and enjoy some bars. Constantine who calls him to his house to show off and make him laugh. Helena who calls him to go after bandits in Gotham. Bea takes him out for a beer and complains about the people who go to his bar. Harley pulls him on a crazy, random adventure for Gotham. And Amy tells about her children and crazy adventures at school.

He is afraid to tell them the reason for the panic attacks. One part sees them as nonsense on his part, a stupid problem that he has made too big a mistake and the other part says that they are going to abandon him because they are going to make sure that he is a farcical liar who played with their feelings. And he is very afraid of that.
