I am endlessly entertained by the prospect of MBJ just having literally no clue how human physiology works, and thus believing everything he hears (which, paired with SQH's propensity for saying dumb shit without thinking, is a recipe for disaster)
like:
SQH: ugh if I read any more expense reports my eyeballs will fall out of my head
MBJ: *frantically gathering as many expense reports as he can carry before shoving them into the fire*
SQH: *literally watching all his work burn up in flames* i-
MBJ: please hold in your eyeballs
______
SQH, offhandedly: lmao wei qingwei ate so many bao buns at the festival that I honestly think he's going to turn into one
MBJ, absolutely horrified, actually gives his condolences to the (very confused) human man because this affliction which will soon take his humanity is a fate worse than death. Also he starts hiding SQH's melon seeds
_____
SQH: ugh I'm so stressed out i'm gonna EXPLODE
MBJ: NO-
Yes YES OH man Shang Qinghua definitely has no filter when complaining about stuff, Poor Mobei he's learning so many awful things about humans and how MUCH DANGER THEYRE IN (how much danger his favorite human is in)
He tries to learn more about what can happen to his poor human so he's spying on Shen Qingqiu and Shang Qinghuas meetings only to hear them BOTH dramatically explain how tired they are, Shen Qingqiu with some peak lord duties juggled with Binghe and Shang Qinghua with just the amount of paper work and how they both won't make it if things don't slow down soon which prompts Mobei to immediately tell Luo Binghe that his consort is going to DIE if he doesn't get rest immediately this second
I can see this getting SO out of hand so fast, He'd bury Shang Qinghua in blankets and hold him tight so absolutely nothing can bother him and he'd be safe

“It’s really not fair! It’s not fair at all!” Buggy screamed. Mihawk, Crocodile, and you sighed at whatever it was that seemed to be, well, bugging Buggy.
“Will you stop your complaining? Some of us are actually trying to do work here,” Crocodile growled while his fingers continued clicking away on the calculator. “(Y/n), go and hand me the reports for-,”
“Right here, Sir,” you said as you handed him the stack of papers he wanted. Crocodile smirked proudly while his eyes narrowed at Buggy.
“See, why can’t you be like (Y/n)? They know how to get work done.”
“Wha-! I get work done! Plenty of work!”
“Juggling isn’t work.”
“Is too!” Buggy stomped his foot.
“Hardly,” Mihawk chimes in.
“Grrr… you two are just jealous of me! Jealous of how I’m the Star Clown and you two will just be boring, old men!”
Mihawk and Crocodile glanced at each other knowingly and rolled their eyes.
“You’re still bothered by the fact you were not important enough to have any good cards in the deck, aren't you?” Mihawk states bluntly, not bothering to be gentle with Buggy’s fragile ego.
“SHUT UP!!! SHUT UP!!!!” Buggy shouted, gaining the attention from his subordinates outside the office.
“Aw… someone’s upset,” Crocodile teased. You huffed at the two stoic ex-warlords and tried to soothe Buggy.
“Buggy, it’s alright. They’re just silly cards. Look around you, you have so many employees happy to work for you because they really admire you as captain,” you say genuinely while patting his head. Buggy sniffles and nods.
“You’re right, (Y/n), you’re right,” Buggy agrees. He wipes his eyes and nose with his hand before he bounces back to life, clenching his fists. “That’s very true! All these people love me and would die for me! So those card makers don’t know anything! I’m the most popular one here!”
“Wait, what…” you wince, while Crocodile and Mihawk groan.
“Thanks, (Y/n), now he’s gonna do something stupid again,” Crocodile sighed.
“Buggy, all I’m saying is-” you try to fix your error, but Buggy shakes his head.
“Nope! You just gave me an amazing idea!”
“Here we go again,” Mihawk mumbles.
“W-what’s the idea?” You ask Buggy.
“Obviously, to really settle the matter, we need to hold a popularity contest!” Buggy proclaims.
“We really don’t have to. No one cares about this except you,” Crocodile says blandly while he opens the folder you gave him.
“Haha! You’re just saying that because you know deep down that I will win when it comes to Cross Guild!” Buggy eggs Crocodile on. “They love me here!”
“I really don’t care-”
“So, to finally gather once and for all who the most popular is-”
“God damn it.”
“I’m going to poll the others!” Buggy announces, grabbing a random clipboard from your desk.
“Isn’t that rather biased?” Mihawk asked.
“Biased? What are you talking about?” Buggy raises his brow. “You think Imma lie about this?”
“Yes,” all of you respond. Buggy lets out an offended gasp and frowns.
“Well then, what do you suggest, smart guy?” Buggy yells at Mihawk.
“Having only you go around and then return with results will obviously not be the most accurate. We need to send a third party that won’t lie,” Mihawk explains.
The three men turn to look at you.
“Why do I have to do it?” You fold your arms. “I have work to do!”
“I’ll pay you extra for this week in order to have Buggy shut up,” Crocodile states.
“Do you think I can be swayed so easily with money?”
“Yes,” the three men respond. You swipe the clipboard from Buggy.
“Damn right I am,” you state as you pick up your favorite pen from your desk.
“Now then, since you’re going to be polling, I expect truthful and honest answers,” Mihawk demands. “No one can lie or cheat this.”
“Before we do this, none of you are allowed to know who voted for who,” you add. “I’m not having you fire or hunt down some poor employee because they voted for Mihawk or something.” “Well that won’t happen,” Buggy comments. “No one is gonna vote for Mihawk to begin with.”
Now it’s Mihawk’s turn to be offended. “What do you mean by that, Buggy? Do I need to silence you for good?”
“Eek! All I’m saying is, you hardly ever step out of the office or interact with anyone!”
Mihawk stays silent then mumbles, “I interact with others…”
“Oh really? Name one person you’ve interacted with,” Crocodile demands.
“You can’t do that, either,” Mihawk counters.
“That’s just because I don’t give a shit about these people’s names. I still talk to them, though,” Crocodile corrects.
“Fine, (Y/n)!” Mihawk huffs.
“They don’t count.”
“Why don’t they?” Mihawk crosses his arms.
“Because we all see them every day in this office,” Crocodile chides Mihawk. “Name someone.”
“Okay, I guess I cannot name anyone,” Mihawk relents. “Not that it matters in the slightest, by the way. This is a silly and pointless little game.”
“See? No one is gonna vote for you!” Buggy laughs.
“I guess I should kill you now, Buggy,” Mihawk says as he draws Yoru.
“Gaaaahhh! No! Please don’t!” Buggy cries, latching onto you for safety.
“Buggy, please let go,” you sigh. The clown does so shakily and you begin to write on the paper in your clipboard. “Okay… Buggy, Crocodile, Mihawk. There we go. I’ll go around and ask, then. See you guys later.”
“Before you go,” Crocodile begins. You turn to hear him out while he has a big shit-eating grin on his face. “If you’re going to talk to Mr. 3… knock before you enter.”
Your eyes practically bulge out of their sockets from what this could mean as you nod and exit the office.
“Why the hell did you say that?” Buggy questions. Crocodile chuckles, taking a puff from his cigar as he shakes his head.
“Oh, they’ll see soon enough.”
-
“Favorite head of Cross Guild?” An employee scratches his head. His coworker beside him does the same.
“Wait, uh, they’re not gonna kill us for answering this, are they?” The other one asks.
“Crap, you’re right. Is this some way to weed us out or something?”
You shake your head. “No, no, not at all! This is just a… uh… thing they’re testing for some new merchandise,” you lie.
“Ah,” the two men nod along. “That makes so much sense.”
“Buggy,” the first man states.
“Mmm… yeah, Buggy,” the second adds. “He never harps on us like Sir Crocodile.”
You thank them for the response and tally it to the votes.
“I guess Buggy was right,” you mumble to yourself, seeing as he currently had seven votes out of the seven people you asked. “Maybe we could send these results in to those cardmakers and get a cut of the merchandising.”
Just as you’re about to walk away, Alvida strolls into the room.
“Oh, Alvida! Good morning,” you smile at her. “Can I have a moment of your time?” “(Y/n), dear,” Alvida runs a hand through her hair. “What do you need from the most beautiful woman of the sea?”
“Well, the higher-ups wanted to run a poll,” you show her the paper. “Please vote for your favorite head of Cross Guild.”
She studies the paper for a moment and purses her lips. “Hmm… you know what, I vote for you.”
“What?”
“What? Just put a tally for you,” Alvida suggests nonchalantly.
“But, um, I’m not a head of Cross Guild,” you argue.
“So? You practically are their fourth one. I’m sure they won’t mind. And if they do, they can take it up with me,” Alvida brushes your concerns aside and takes the pen from you. She writes your name down and adds a tally.
“Can I ask why you want to add me?”
“Simple, dear.” Alvida chuckles. “You’re not like those brutes upstairs. You get worked to the bone by them yet still retain your own sense of self. Do you know what that is?”
“No, I don’t think I know what that is-”
“Passion!” Alvida throws her arms in the air. “You are passionate, clean, stylish, and most of all, you are quiet! If anyone is worthy of my vote and attention- it is you!”
“Wow, thank you,” you comment, impressed that Alvida actually gave you a nice compliment.
“Yes, yes, well, what do you think about becoming my assistant instead of working for them?” Alvida winks.
“Ah sorry, I’m pretty happy where I am right now,” you quickly shut down. Alvida clicks her tongue.
“Hm… perhaps you’d prefer to be my partner instead? You would be a good match by my side.”
“Would you look at the time!” You awkwardly laugh. “Bye, Alvida!”
“Bye, darling. Don’t worry though, we’ll pick this conversation up another time~,” she waves. You sigh in relief as you walk away that she didn’t mace you immediately. Still, there’s work to be done.
You walk into the staff lounge and greet the other members there, who cheerfully greet you back.
“Sorry to bother you guys, but if you could just fill out this poll, that would be great. And don’t worry, no one will know of the results, so please be as honest as you can!”
The clipboard gets passed along by the staff members, who quickly add a tally mark to the poll. In less than a minute, all twenty people in the lounge have responded.
“Wow, thank you guys. You guys are quick,” you joke, taking back the clipboard.
“The choice was obvious,” one of the employees answers, and the others nod. You wonder who they voted for when you look at the paper, only to see your name has now over twenty marks attached to it. Your eyes widen and you politely thank the others as you step out of the room.
It was one thing when Alvida did as she pleased, but now the others were voting for you in droves. You took a deep breath. Crocodile, Mihawk, and Buggy surely wouldn’t kill you for this, would they? After all, Alvida herself said they could bring it up with her. Yeah, that was okay. This was just a silly joke anyways.
You continue to collect polls, feeling touched yet also nervous when you found that every employee had checked you off as their favorite. It got so bad that you had to use a second page to collect all the tallies that the employees were adding to your name.
As the number of employees left to ask dwindled, you remembered to get Daz Bones and Galdino’s polls. You figured the choice would be clear for them- Crocodile. After all, they were very loyal to him and even continued their work relationship into Cross Guild. It would also allow for Crocodile to at least get some vote from his current tally at zero.
You had scoured for them all around the base, but didn’t find any sign of their presence. Just as you were about to give up, you found Daz Bones peacefully sitting, probably waiting for his next assignment.
“Daz! Can I-”
“(Y/n), I have no interest,” he cut you off.
“It’s for Crocodile,” you add, knowing he wouldn’t participate otherwise. Daz nods and then urges you to step closer. You show him the clipboard and he raises a brow.
“Crocodile really cares about this sort of thing?”
“It’s mostly because of Buggy,” you explain, and Daz nods, connecting the dots. He quickly tallies a mark to Crocodile’s name. “Thank you, Daz!”
“You’re welcome,” he gruffly responds.
“Oh, and do you know where Galdino is?”
“Why should I know? Perhaps he’s in his room,” Daz shrugs. You should’ve guessed that but wave goodbye and walk to Galdino’s room. You’re about to knock when you remember Crocodile’s ominous warning echoing in your head again.
“Knock before you enter…”
You were going to do that anyways, but the weird way Crocodile said it made you grimace. You nervously rapped your knuckles against Galdino’s door. You heard a huff and a lot of grumbling as Galdino swung open the door.
“What do you w-,” he angrily yells until he gasps when he sees it’s you. “(Y/n)! Ah! Uh! Please excuse me!”
You briefly notice a large wax statue on the table before Galdino slams the door on your face. You jump when you hear Galdino freaking out and throwing things around his studio. Something metal is grating against the floor as you hear Galdino struggle to move the obviously heavy object.
“G-Galdino? Is this a bad time?” You call out.
“No, no, no! It’s fine! Perfectly fine! Hahaha there’s nothing weird going on here!” Galdino answers from inside his room as something crashes to the floor and Galdino swears.
It’s silent for a moment until Galdino opens the door, leaning against the frame and trying to give you a charming smile while some wax is now splattered against his pants and shirt.
“So, (Y/n), what brings you to my studio?” He asks while forcing his voice to sound lower, pushing up his glasses.
“Ah, the heads wanted to take a little poll. Mind answering?”
“Anything for- I mean-,” Galdino coughs and lowers his voice again. “Anything for you, (Y/n).”
He takes the clipboard from you and begins to notice the options, quickly marking a tally next to your name.
“There you go- wait a minute!” He looks horrified as realization sets in that there’s only one tally next to Crocodile- most likely Daz, he thinks. Crocodile would absolutely know right away that Galdino didn’t choose him, and the thought makes Galdino nearly pass out. “I-I need to change my vote!”
“Sure,” you give the clipboard back to him and Galdino scribbles over the one he gave you to mark one next to Crocodile.
“Kh... but we’re supposed to be honest…” Galdino mutters. He glances at you, and seeing you patiently waiting and smiling at him makes his heart tighten.
Gah! Who am I supposed to choose?! My muse or my boss?!
“Are you alright, Galdino?” You asked, making Galdino struggle to form words. Instead, he scribbled over the mark he put next to Crocodile and re-marked a tally next to your name.
He hands the clipboard back to you and you smile and wave to him. “Thank you, Galdino!”
“Y-you’re very welcome!” Galdino shouts, unable to control his voice properly around you. You turn around and head back to the office while Galdino lets out a breath he didn’t know he was holding.
He was most likely going to die after this, but seeing your smile was all worth it. He could die happy, even knowing that Crocodile would probably drain him of life later.
You, however, didn’t notice the longing look Galdino gave you as you open the door to the office.
“Well, I got all the votes!”
“Well, who won?” Buggy immediately jumps forward and steals the clipboard from you. He notices that Crocodile and Mihawk hardly have any, with only Crocodile have a mark. “See I wo…”
His face darkened as he noticed he had only seven votes.
“What’s the matter, Buggy?” Crocodile smirked. “Can’t handle the fact you lost?”
“I… wha…” Buggy grips the clipboard roughly, nearly snapping it in half. “How the hell did (Y/n) get all the votes!?”
Crocodile and Mihawk are caught off guard.
“Wait, what? (Y/n) won?” Crocodile repeated.
“I thought I told you to be fair and not cheat!” Mihawk accused you, his golden hawk eyes glaring into yours.
“I-it wasn’t my fault! Alvida was the one who put my name on the list!” You try to defend yourself.
“Give me that-” Crocodile snaps as he swipes the poll from Buggy’s hand. Crocodile grunts as he notices page after page marked with tallies from the employees choosing you. He sees Mihawk has none, but that his name has one mark (Daz, of course), and one crossed off (that bastard, Galdino-). Given Crocodile’s attentiveness, he does recognize that yours and Alvida’s handwriting is different, so your story is credible. He huffs and tosses the clipboard, making Mihawk lean over curiously.
“Not even one vote…” he murmurs.
Buggy, meanwhile, is distraught, crying on the floor and banging it repeatedly.
“It’s not fair! Not fair at all! I hate this! I’m the star!” Buggy wails out loud.
At first, Crocodile did this as a joke to satiate Buggy, but even his own ego is hurt by this new poll.
“I take it back, you’re getting docked again,” Crocodile threatens, pointing his cigar at you.
“What?! But I spent all day getting this with the promise of money!”
“I changed my mind! I wanted a good poll, not whatever the hell this was!” Crocodile yells back.
“Recount! Recount this!” Buggy shouts.
“I refuse to lose this competition. Give me an hour, I will win this,” Mihawk says, pushing himself off his couch as he walks out the door to do who knows what.
The ensuing commotion causes some of the Cross Guild members to peek through the door and watch Buggy screaming in agony at losing while you’re sobbing at the fact you’re losing money due to this dumb poll.
Alvida rolls her eyes and crosses her arms.
“Would you guys cut this noise out? It’s driving me mad!”
“Alvida! This is all your fault!” Buggy yells at Alvida in tears. “I was supposed to win, not (Y/n)!”
Alvida frowns at Buggy and twirls her mace in her hands. “Are you questioning my decisions?”
Buggy gulps as he sees the mace casting a shadow over him.
“N-no, not at all!” He quickly corrects himself, praying Alvida will not maim him to death.
“That’s what I thought.”

Nervous
Pairing: teen! gojo x black fem reader
Summary: gojo was a cocky son of a gun but for some reason that changed whenever you were around
A/N: I've got too much tumblr stuff I'm tryna juggle😞
Tumblr media
Geto just wanted a little one-on-one with Gojo, but that idiot was too occupied with staring at you as you finished stretching for combat training. He'd been going on like this for two weeks, if he wasn't staring at you, he was thinking about you and nothing else. Geto sighed as he threw the ball at Gojo. He didn't even have his infinity on.
"What the hell, man?" He grabbed his arm where the ball hit
Geto went to grab the ball himself, throwing shade as he passed Gojo.
"If you're not gonna focus at least find the balls to talk to her."
"The hell are you talking about?"
Geto held the ball at his side as he stood next to Gojo. "You stare at Y/N like she's a piece of meat."
Gojo scoffed, "No, I don't." He said as he watched your arms flex while you stretched them behind your back.
Next were hamstring stretches, Gojo watched your dark curls and toned legs for a moment until he realized you were doing toe touches. He finally looked at Geto.
"At least you're not a pervert." Geto walked off as he dribbled the ball, Gojo following behind.
"Shut up."
For a while, Gojo was actually focused. It was anyone's game as usual, both of them staying evenly matched. Gojo scored another point, but caught a glimpse of you sparring with Shoko. He tried to keep his head in the game, but that split second he caught of you felt like an eternity. Your strength was just so captivating, not to mention your beauty to match.
Gojo tried to handle his ball but missed his shot despite how close it was. Finally, the bell rang, and Geto sighed. Coming next to Gojo, he watched his best friend continue to stare at your backside.
"Tell her, Satoru," he said. "I hate winning because you aren't engaged."
There was no way he'd say it out loud, but there was no way Gojo could confess to you. He was intimidated by you. It was stupid that he was, you were so nice, but you were also so cool, so pretty, so strong. What could he possibly have to offer you? Sure, he wanted to be with you, but would you want to be with him?
"Hold on," Geto said, suddenly. "Are you scared to talk to her?"
The expression Gojo's face twisted into said no, but the blush over his cheeks proved otherwise.
"Huh! Of course not; she's just a girl."
"A girl you like," Geto added. "I'm not making fun of you, Satoru, but it's not like she'll rip your head off."
Gojo sighed, his gaze shyly returning back to you. "Yeah, but...who wouldn't be scared to talk to her. Have you seen her? She's..."
Geto nudged Gojo who was so lost in your image that he wasn't paying attention. "Coming this way."
Gojo's eyes widened; Geto was right. With a towel in hand, wiping the sweat from your glistening face and chest you approached them. No. You approached Gojo. He looked to Geto with his mouth hanging open, but he simply hit Gojo on the shoulder with a smile.
"See you in class, Satoru." Geto walked away.
Gojo was ready to kill Geto right in the gym, but he froze as you stopped right in front of him.
"Yo, Gojo."
He thought he'd melt right there at the sight of the towel draped over your shoulder and the small smile on your face.
"Y-yo, Y/N." He kicked himself for the way he stuttered, but thankfully, you didn't seem to notice.
Gojo was struggling to pay attention to your words, more focused on each of your muscles that flexed as you pulled your hair back in a ponytail.
"Could you spar with me next time," you asked. "Shoko says I've started to surpass her. I doubt I'll be able to keep up with you, but it's either you or Geto."
Gojo's brows rose at the humble laugh you gave. He had no idea what your strength levels were, but for all he knew the two of you could be on the same level. Was that why he liked you? No, it was because in spite of all that, you still lifted up those that were weak, by his standards. You looked after the innocent on missions and assisted your fellow sorcerers. You were everything Gojo wasn't. Gojo could feel himself blushing.
"You alright?" You tilted your head with concern as you noticed Gojo's flushed cheeks.
"Yeah!" Gojo said quickly, his voice cracking slightly. Swallowing that extra embarrassment, he cleared his throat and finally answered your question. "Yeah...I'll train with you."
A bright smile spread across your face, "Thank you," you beamed. "I've almost perfected my reverse cursed technique, and if I get it right I'll be able to help so many people."
Your compassion was astounding. Gojo had seen you obliterate curses without breaking a sweat, but they weren't even your main concern. It warmed something in him. Your passion was admirable, and that smile...he wanted to make you smile like that all the time.
You started to turn on your heels, waving goodbye to Gojo, "I guess I'll see you in class," you said. "Don't be late. You're still not back on Yaga sensei's good side."
Gojo wanted to move, but he was stuck in place as you started walking away. How long could he let this go on? Would he even be at his 'A' game when you started training? You were so many things he couldn't define, and he didn't even feel worthy enough to ask you out. Still, it was now or never. He either faced rejection now or let you figure it out after you beat him way too easily.
Gojo sighed before catching right as you opened the gym door, "Y/N," he called.
As you turned back, Gojo started to catch up with you. Before he knew it, he was right in front of you. Your beautiful dark eyes gazing softly at him was enough to want to make him chicken out, but there was not turning back now. After a moment of hesitation, Gojo spoke.
"After school, did you want to see that movie you've been talking about?" Despite his best efforts, Gojo couldn't look at you. He glanced around before struggling to meet your eyes.
You smiled again, softly and definitely catching on, "Zombie Catchers 3," you chuckled lightly. "But I thought you said zombie movies suck?"
Gojo bit the inside of his cheek. Not too long ago, you, him, Shoko, and Geto got into a debate over the best movie monsters. Gojo believed that aliens were undefeated.
"I did, but...you really like them."
You couldn't stop yourself from smiling. You didn't think Gojo would remember how you've been waiting for that movie to come out, but he did. Gojo remembered so many things about you. Even if they were things he disagreed with, they were your traits and quirks. They only made him fall harder for you.
It was your turn to get a little nervous and hesitate before you answered. "Then I guess it's a date."
You and Gojo shared a glance before you left the gym, and he followed not too far behind.

Ko-fi thank-you sentences for Karam, plus a cut for more; Billy adopts Conner and it actually goes pretty good!
The walk over to the diner is quiet, mostly. Billy tells Lynn where some things are in Fawcett and points some stuff out in the neighborhood, but Lynn doesn’t really say much back. He nods along, though, and Billy's pretty sure he's listening.
Maybe sure, at least.
Worst case scenario, he figures he'll just repeat himself later. If Lynn's a little too stressed or overwhelmed to really be listening right now, well, he definitely wouldn't blame him. He's a baby, basically! Everything's gotta be so new and weird and overwhelming for him right now.
Billy isn’t gonna push. Not on day one, when they don’t even know each other yet. Lynn can take his time all he wants right now. It’s not like he’s hurting anyone, or even himself. So Billy just has to be patient with him while he learns stuff, same as any little kid he’s met in the system or on the streets.
They get to the diner and Lynn hangs back a little bit. Billy suspects Cadmus did really not prepare him for restaurant etiquette and stuff like that, considering. He’s pretty positive it didn’t, in fact. Billy doesn’t go to many restaurants himself, but . . .
It’s fine, he figures. He just needs to be a good example for Lynn, that’s all. And that’s what he always needs to do right now, so it’s no big deal.
He hopes he’s being a good example, anyway. He really wants Lynn to be able to trust that he is one, so he can know he has someone to learn from, so . . . yeah.
Billy goes to the counter, politely gives their fake last name–Batman would not appreciate them half-assing the new secret identities–and tips the waitress twenty percent and thanks her. It’s kind of a lot of food, but they have super-strength and a fridge for leftovers, so he figures it’ll be fine.
He does feel a little nauseous over how much money he just spent, though.
Batman gave them way more money than that, Billy reminds himself as he gathers up the bags. And there’ll be more next week. And if they actually somehow run out or just have an emergency, he can just fill out the League paperwork to requisition funds to make up for it. They could spend way more than this and still be fine.
He’s pretty sure takeout is still gonna be a special occasions only thing, though. And couponing. Couponing is definitely gonna be a thing.
It’s just a lot of money.
Billy gets all of the bags juggled into his arms. Lynn looks awkward again and shifts Tawky under his other arm.
“I can carry it,” he says stiffly.
“Well, if you wanna,” Billy says. “We could split it?”
“. . . sure,” Lynn says, still stiff. Billy smiles at him and offers him a couple of the bags. Lynn frowns, but takes them. Billy figures it makes sense Lynn wants to help; that’s pretty normal with little kids. Like, they always wanna do what the older kids are doing, or the adults, or just whoever. So it makes sense Lynn would too, especially if Cadmus didn’t teach him this stuff to begin with. He’s learning, basically. So yeah, it’s normal.
And also a good sign, Billy hopes, if Lynn trusts he knows what he’s doing enough to copy him. It’s even sorta cute, actually.
. . . okay, it’s really cute, but Lynn’s kinda a teenager so he might not appreciate hearing that.
Still cute, though.
They walk back to the apartment–back home, which is a weird thought, Billy recognizes fleetingly but tries not to focus on right now–and Billy unpacks all the food onto the coffee table in the living room. He figures that’ll be lower-pressure than the kitchen table for their first meal together, and they can put a show or a movie on if Lynn doesn’t want to talk too much or anything.
Lynn sets Tawky on the end of the table, looking a little awkward about it. Billy smiles encouragingly at him. Tawky doesn’t really need to eat either in his stuffed animal form, but it’s nice that Lynn’s including him at lunch. And food does still taste good, obviously.
“What do you wanna try first?” he asks, nudging the open box of onion rings over towards Tawky. He knows he likes them. Lynn frowns, looking a little wary.
“It doesn’t matter,” he says stiffly. “Just . . . whatever.”
“Okay,” Billy says, figuring that means he’s a little overwhelmed by the options. They did order a lot, so . . . yeah, that makes sense. “How about the soup, then?”
“. . . sure,” Lynn mutters, and warily pulls the takeout bowl over to himself and takes the lid off. Billy offers him a spoon. Lynn frowns, but takes it. “. . . thanks.”
“You’re welcome,” Billy says cheerfully. Setting a good example, and all.

the beauty of boxes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
genre: hurt / comfort, fluff

warnings: references to anxiety
synopsis: mingi comforts his partner who has anxiety when moving into a new house. and he has a clever way of bringing a bit of joy back into your busy life.
please like and reblog if you enjoy <;3
Tumblr media
You stay, staring at the empty wall in front of you, unmoving and not blinking. There was an uncertainty in your breathing that Mingi caught onto straight away. He said nothing.
The silence felt like the usual, regular buzz of nothingness. It was supposed to be peaceful, but you found little contentment in your thoughts.
Sighing, you gazed around at the boxes stacked all around you. Some empty, some full. Boxes and boxes of your stuff, his stuff, just... stuff. And too much of it. You wanted it all to be gone. To go away. It was too much for you to sort. There was too much for you to do. And so little time. You had all this work that needed to be sorted ou-
"Penny for your thoughts?"
The chipper voice of Mingi broke you from your internal hurricane, but only momentarily. You dare not look at him, for fear that you would break.
"I just can't."
Mingi frowned. He understood. He knew all too well what you meant. There was just too much going on in your life to be dealing with, and you were trying to juggle a lot of things. Moving was never easy, and trying to balance your life outside of yourself compared with sorting out the inside of your house, it felt like you were just shifting from one difficulty to the next. Nowhere was peaceful because there was always something to do. Everything in its perfect nook and cranny. That's what it should've been. But the motivation to unpack and resemble your life all over again felt too much.
"I know, I know," Mingi reached out, hesitantly, at first, to touch your arm in aid of soothing your crying soul. "But we're doing this together. You're not alone."
You rolled your eyes at his cheesy line, shaking your head and giving him a mere small, sad smile. Mingi didn't want that to be the only smile he got to see today.
Mingi's brain worked at tremendous speed, and suddenly he had an idea. And amazing, brilliant, wonderful idea, just as all of Mingi's ideas were.
"Come on," his excited voice trailed off as he leapt to his feet, getting to work on his genius thoughts. Your sad expression turned into a quizzical one as you watched your boyfriend scurry around like an excitable puppy. What was he doing?
He grabbed the stack of empty boxes, one by one, tucking them underneath his big arms as his eyes moved about the room. He placed them down on the floor beside each other, before stacking them into what he thought was a cohesive shape, and kept going in that same manner.
"You gonna help me?"
"You gonna tell me what you're doing?" You retorted, the intrigue starting to shift away your anxiety.
"I'm making a fort, obviously!" Mingi exclaimed, starting to grab some blankets.
You started to grin as you watched your boyfriend throw a blanket over the towered empty boxes to make a tent-like roof for the fort. You grabbed some pillow and a plushie, very necessary items for any fort, and tucked them underneath.
"After you," he said, motioning towards the entrance of the small, poorly made fort. You smiled and obliged, shuffling your body into the fort, and Mingi following you.
You both chuckled as you tried to get as comfortable as possible, both wriggling in the cosy space you had to share and both turning on your side to face each other.
When the laughing had stopped, and you both gazed into each others' eyes in the same loving way you usually would, there was a moment of softness. Quietness. Everything felt a little better. You could breathe with ease, for now.
"Hey," Mingi's low voice sounded, "I know it's hard figuring these things out. And I know that moving in has taken longer than you would've liked. But I'm with you. And you're a very capable person. You've come this far, you can face anything."
Your smile was small but it was no longer sad. As your head sank into the pillow beneath it, you wondered what you had done to deserve such an amazing boyfriend.
"Thank you," you whispered, "you make things so much easier, you know?"
Mingi gave you a bright smile, his hand skimming your waistline to trace little shapes on your clothed skin.
"And hey, if things get too much for you when I'm not here, you can always hide away in this fort until I get back!"
You laughed at Mingi's humorous reasoning, giving him a light whack on the arm. If only life was that simple.
"I hate to break it to you, but we will probably have to dissemble it tomorrow to sort out the rest of the boxes and stuff," you winced, hating to be the bearer of bad news. Mingi nodded, "Yeah, but then we can always rebuild it."
Adulthood just seemed too much. Why can't we all just hide away in a childishly little fort and forget the world isn't there? What was the harm in that?
You both stayed in your little, haphazard home, sharing stories and thoughts and speculations of life. No more heavy talk of anxiety and dread. Just good things. Light things. And there was something beautiful in the simplicity of the box fort you two had created together.
But it's something you could share. Even if it was momentary, it was yours. At that made you think that maybe, just maybe, things were going to be okay after all.

satoru with little megumi and tsumiki is so cute!! i also can't stop thinking about how funny the reader and Satoru would be juggling trying to have "that conversation" (sex) with the two of them, i swear in my head this scenario was very funny
A/N: OMG this was so fun to write, I had such a giggle writing it THANK U SM also thank u all sm for ur requests, expect them posted throughout the week!!! Ily all
CW: SEX, sex talk, sexual content, mom and dad are cringe and try to talk to the kids about the birds and the bees, talks of sexuality and bodies etc, mdni, I’m bi so I asked my amab gay pal for help writing some parts so I hope I did okay!!!
Tumblr media
Family Formations - Birds and Bees.
Tumblr media
“SATORU” A yell sounds as you come crashing through your bedroom drawer.
“Y/N!” The white-haired man currently lounging on the bed replies.
Tumblr media
Then you start rambling so damn fast that even he can’t keep up with the speed of your words.
“Princess. You’re gonna need to start that again. Maybe throw in some breathing this time round.” He smirks.
“Satoru. Tsumiki - she’s gotten her period. I’ve explained it to her but ‘Toru - we’ve never given them THE TALK. The birds and the bees.” You scramble to sit on the bed with him.
“Baby, they know what birds and bees are,” Satoru says, completely confused as to why you think they need a nature lecture.
“No, ‘Toru. THE TALK. The horizontal tango, matrimonial polka, a bit of how’s yer father, squat thrusts in the cucumber patch, creaming the twinkly.” You stare so seriously at him, his hands clasped in yours.
He just blinks at you.
“Y/N, are you okay? Are you like… malfunctioning?” He asks, genuinely concerned.
“Jesus ‘Toru! Sex!” You say, shaking his shoulder.
His eyes light up.
“Hell yeah, just lock the door.” He says as he begins to unbutton his jeans.
“No! Well, yes! But later! Satoru – we’ve never spoken to the kids about sex, that kind of talk! They’re 12 and 13! They’re gonna start hearing things in school, and they’ll have questions about their bodies – I don’t want them to have an unhealthy relationship with sex! Or their bodies! We’ve spoken to them about the basics, they both know about periods, what boobs are, how to keep yourself clean, what touch is good and what is inappropriate, and that they can say no to someone wanting affection. We’ve done all the basics, but what about like – the sexual parts, like they know what sex is, we’ve talked to them about the physical side of things, like what goes where –” You were just babbling again, you and Satoru were only 24 – how the fuck do you parent teenagers?
“Oh my god, I’ve never explained wet dreams! He’s gonna think he’s dying!” Satoru has realised that this is an issue.
Maybe in 10 years, you’ll realise how badly you’re both overreacting.
But probably not.
“Tsumiki knows there are 2 separate holes – I taught her that when her first period came. Megumi knows what a period is, we’ve never hidden any bodily functions from them – they know the logistics of everything. Wait, what else do we tell them?” You were so close to ripping out your hair.
“Condoms!” Satoru exclaims, and points at you.
“Condoms!” You agree.
“Do we have any? We need a banana – or maybe a cucumber?” He begins searching the bedside tables.
“Satoru we’ve never once used a condom, I’ve an IUD! Oh god, we’re such bad role models.”
This frenzy goes on for another hour before you both have a basket of stuff, and you call the kids into the living room. You already know that you might have to pin Megumi down, so he listens. You both decided that there were no questions off limits, 12 and 13 were tricky ages, and you both decided you wanted them to go into the world armed with healthy, positive information instead of keeping things secret and them finding out stuff from friends or porn.
“Is everything okay?” Tsumiki smiles, as she takes a spot on the cosy sofa.
“I was reading – what do you both need?” Grumbles Megumi – those teenage hormones reminding you why you’re here.
“So! We wanna talk to you guys about, drumroll, please… BOINKING!” Satoru says, with jazz hands for panache.
“What the hell is boinking?” Megumi asks, already disgusted.
“Exactly why we’re here! Your mom and I want you both to know all about the human body and the delightful pleasures it can bring. Your bodies are growing and changing, and soon enough you’re going to start feeling some funny things!” Satoru has sat on the opposite loveseat, with you beside him.
“Oh. My. God.” Tsumiki’s mouth drops open.
“What?” Megumi asks, suspiciously.
“Oh no. Why? Why me? Why today?” She laments.
“Can someone tell me what’s happening?” The young boy grumbles.
“They’re giving us the talk.”
“Oh, please God no.”
“Yes!” Satoru smiles, slapping his knee.
“Guys – I know how much you two are gonna hate this. I hated it when my mom did it too, but this is us keeping you two safe okay? Plus, wouldn’t you rather have all the facts, Megumi?” You knew that appealing to Tsumiki’s emotions and Megumi’s practicality would at least make them sit for a while.
“We’re not getting out of this, are we?”
“Make it quick.”
“Okay! So you guys know what sex is – two people expressing emotions, physically. If between a man and a woman, it can create a baby. But there are loads of types of sex, and it doesn’t have to be between a guy and a girl.” You start.
“Yeah! Like your mom and I are both bisexual, so that means we’ve both – too personal, point taken” Satoru was cut off by both of them glaring.
“So if a man and a woman are having sex…” You begin the explanations of what goes where, the changes that will happen once they start to get older, the science behind things, the fun stuff – masturbation is okay – and healthy! Then that sex can be lots of different things, never feel rushed to do anything with anyone, a quick (and very painful for the kids, possibly scarring) demonstration from you of how to put on a condom (thankfully, you had bananas), different forms of contraception and safety.
All in all, you and Satoru thought it went great
By the end of everything you could think of, Megumi had a pillow on his face and Tsumiki’s eyes seemed glazed over. That means it sank in.
“Okay! So if you guys have questions, never get scared to ask us! Believe us, we’ve probably done way worse!” Satoru says.
“That’s very true! And if you guys don’t wanna ask out loud you can write us a note, maybe?”
“Oh! Important! Megumi – you don’t just gotta ask me, you can ask mom too because believe me she knows her way around a male –” You slap your hand over his mouth. His big, idiotic mouth.
“That’s true though, just because I’m a girl doesn’t mean I can’t answer your questions, and the same goes for you Tsumiki with dad, okay?” You softly smile at them, you’re aware that pretty much everything you and your fiancé do is utterly chaotic - it’s in both your natures, but you hope that maybe – them both knowing that you guys are also absolute messes will make them feel better about coming to you. Because no matter what, you’re their mom and dad.
“Do you guys have any questions?” You ask.
“No holes barred! Ask away!” Satoru chimes in.
“I do. Ehm… can you get pregnant from a toilet seat?” Tsumiki asks.
“No – you can’t. It’s gotta get right up there.” You reply.
Tsumiki giggles at this and proceeds to ask a ton more –very clever, questions, ranging from who grows hair where to do boys have a clitoris.
Tsumiki then excuses herself to the bathroom, and you glance at a squirming Megumi.
“Nothing off limits, ‘Gumi. Promise.” Satoru smiles at him.
“Um… if a guy does… that… with anyone guy – how do they know who, oh my god I hate my life, howdotheyknowwhoputsthepenisinandhowhasitinthem.” He couldn’t have spoken faster. Physically.
You take a second to try and decipher his words.
“Well, that’s an individual thing! It depends on the couple, it alternates sometimes, and sometimes there’s one person who prefers each type of feeling. The best thing to do is just ask and communicate and read the situation.” You speak.
“It’s different for every couple kiddo – and that’s what makes it all fun because what you will have with each person is gonna be unique. Just talk shit out, and see what the vibes are like. Explore different things too.” Satoru says, leaning back on the loveseat, this is a side of Satoru you absolutely cherish – you love all of him, but this vulnerable, soft, honest side is reserved for those he loves the most.
Tsumiki comes into the room. Her face was white as a sheet.
“You okay, ‘Miki?” You ask.
“The sound. The banging sound I heard, when we were on vacation. That wasn’t the pipes hitting the wall, was it?” She asks as if asking if the ghost in her room was real.
You couldn’t help but laugh, because no – it wasn’t. Your rooms in your cottage were all soundproofed, the hotel in Okinawa, not so much.
“So you see Tsumiki – when a mommy and daddy love each other veryyyyyy –” Satoru says with a huge evil grin on his face and you laugh yourself into knots beside him.
“No! Shut up!” They both run like the wind down the hall.
“Parents boink too, Tsumiki! It means we love each other so much we just –”
“STOP PLEASE STOP!” You hear coming from the kid’s rooms. That was them locked away for the night.
Maybe the teenage years will be kinda fun, if you get to keep messing with them. The title of embarrassingly in love parents fits you guys after all.
“So you know earlier… I said ‘later’?” You turn to your fiancé, resting your hand on his thigh.
“Yeah, princess?” He smirks, tilting your chin up with a long index finger.
“It’s later.” You giggle, grabbing his hand and running down the hall with him to your – thankfully – soundproofed room.

Sunrise, Sunset
[A/N: I wrote this in a rush bc there’s some stuff going on in my personal life and I just watched episode 9x10 and I needed a good cry 🥺]
*Warning you rn, sad Stevie ahead
—————
“Christ,” you grumble under your breath, slipping in a puddle and nearly falling flat out on the back porch. You try to adjust the grocery bags in your hands to see where you’re stepping, juggling your house keys between two fingers as you mutter on, “How many times have I told that man to wipe down the deck after a swim? Gonna break my damn face one-”
Your griping comes to a dead halt and the bags fall onto the deck with a series of heavy thuds. It’s not water you slipped on.
“St-Steve?” you stammer out, choking on his name. As you follow the trail into your home, now resembling more of a macabre art exhibit than a kitchen, your voice grows stronger and you yell, “Steve! Steven!” Red streaks and fingerprints are smeared across every visible surface, and the sheer volume of blood on the floor sends your heart leaping into your throat.
You can hear heavy footfalls rounding the corner, and you brace yourself to meet your demise at the hands of the same man who attacked your husband minutes ago. Then panicked blue eyes appear at the doorway, and tears pool in your own as you rush into the familiar security of Steve’s arms.
“You’re okay,” you exhale sharply, hands roaming every inch of skin that you can find. Your fingers graze over several bandages along his arms and chest, across his split lip, down the bridge of his nose, and you repeat again, “You’re okay.”
“Most of that blood’s not mine,” he assures you, tenderly brushing his thumb over your cheek and giving you a moment to catch your breath.
“Is this- Is someone after your team?” you ask, taking note of his harried appearance and red-rimmed eyes as he leads you to sit on the living room couch.
He sniffs sharply and averts his gaze before answering, “Not Five-0. My team from the Morocco op.”
You take his hand and bring it to your lap, squeezing it tightly and running your thumb over his knuckles. “How many, Steve?”
He swallows thickly. “Three.”
“And…” You steel yourself for your follow up question. “And Joe?”
Giving your hand a squeeze in return, he says, “Joe’s okay.”
You take and release a deep breath, then lift his hand to your mouth and press a kiss to the back of it. “Do what you need to do,” you say softly. “Just come home to me in one piece when it’s done.”
“Angel, this might not-”
“Consider that an order, Steve,” you cut him off, lifting your resolute gaze to meet his. “You will come home to me.”
“Okay, mama,” he whispers. “Okay.”
—————
The telltale sound of a key slipping into the lock has you jolting awake in the dark living room. Sitting up on the couch, you rub the sleep from your eyes and glance at the clock to find it’s nearly three in the morning. Steve steps inside and locks the door behind him before dropping his bag to the floor. Even in the dim lighting, you can see the weight of the world bearing down on his shoulders, and you call out to him softly.
He takes lumbering steps towards you, then sinks to his knees and rests his head on your thigh, his arms coming up to encircle your waist. “I came home to you,” he says, haunted, his voice muffled by your cotton shorts.
“Thank you, baby,” you whisper, carding your hands through his hair as he tightens his grip on you, his anchor.
“I came home,” he intones again. Your heart aches at how small he sounds, and you understand in that moment what he’s really saying to you: I’m the only one who came home. Pressing your lips to his forehead, you murmur, “You can let go now, honey. Let it go.”
His large body quakes beneath your fingertips, heaving with silent sobs as a lifetime of loss and sacrifice takes its toll. Drawing in shuddering breaths, he clings to you like you’re the oxygen he’s seeking while you rock him side to side and run your hand along his back.
The sun will come up in a few hours, and with it, a new day. But for tonight, all your husband can focus on is coming home to you and the most beautiful sunset he’s ever seen.

[A/N… again: Writing that last line broke me 😔 If you’ve seen this episode I hope you get the reference; seeing my baby sad breaks my heart and I was ugly crying by that point ngl]

I need some Pedro boys 🥺 encouraging words. Because I'm struggling with juggling work and university at once. I don't have a time or energy to do things afterwards. Everything hurts and I'm just crying almost every night.
Like. Can you imagine the boys being all supportive. Maybe they see you struggle and tell you it's ok to focus on your studying and quit your job for the time being. 😭 because your health body and mind is more important.
Javier Peña, Joel Miller, Agent Whiskey x f!reader
A/N: I'm so sorry to hear that baby, I have been through the exact same situation and I know how it hurts because it bothers us but at the same time we only have energy to cry and sleep! I really hope you find a way to rest and relax and that life goes easy on you 💝
Tumblr media
Javier Peña: Javi would be very worried about you, he doesn't like seeing his cariño so down, he would do anything he could in order to make you feel better; he ain't the greatest in cheering people up but he would talk to you and listen to what you have to say in order to see if he can help you. His love language is sex and if that ain't a thing it should be invented just for him, so he will try to comfort you with that... and if he can use his DEA badge to intimidate anyone for you, he'd be glad to. If he could tell you something, he would say:
"you can do anything you want, cariño, you're gonna get there, you're gorgeous, smart and worthy, and I'm so proud of you"
Tumblr media
Joel Miller: Joel is another one who isn't good with words but he's got a good heart and he will do anything in his power to help you. He ain't book smart so he can't help you with college, but he can help you keep stuff clean and have warm food waiting for you, he won't have any problem in holding you if you need to and let you cry, he knows how life is tough and it beats us in the ass at times, so yeah, he gets it and if the bills are too tight, he would gladly let you move in with him. If he could tell you something, he would say:
"you're strong and I'm very proud of you, darling, you got this even if it's hard"
Tumblr media
Agent Whiskey: Jack is the one of all the boys that could definitely help you financially. Money ain't not a problem to him so he would definitely encourage you to take his help, if your job is making you stressed he will just tell you to quit and focus on your studies. Jack is just a caring person and he would do anything for his sugar. You wouldn't have any more problems at work, or at home, everything would be done and ready for you. You would also have a very affectionate and understanding cowboy to welcome you in his arms. If he could tell you something, he would say:
"life is tough sugar, but you are tougher, I'm sure you can handle it but I'll always be with you to help ya when you need"

Tumblr media
There were times when Kaeya felt that he was made specifically for you. For your needs, your comfort, your pleasure. A knight at his queen’s service.
At the farmer’s market, he’d carry everything for you even though he knew you were more than capable of doing it yourself. He’d never admit it, but it was just an excuse to be by your side.
And as you flitted from stall to stall, he’d trail after you with heavy arms, juggling bags and parcels of food and trinkets, and admire your pretty sundress. He told himself that he followed behind to protect you, but it was mostly so that he could enjoy—ogle—the way the cotton voile clung to your ass.
You’d always buy fresh fruit, vegetables, and meats wrapped in kraft paper. (Bloodied steaks, he’d noticed, were a particular favorite of yours.)
But the shop you always lingered the longest at was the dessert shop. Dainty frosted cakes, golden flaky pastries, and soft cookies presented prettily in delicate containers was your ultimate weakness. The shopkeeper always had your order of sugar rush ready even before you arrived, and Kaeya was always careful to balance your desserts in expert fashion, careful not to jostle them too much.
(The last time your baklava got crushed into a sticky, flaky mess, you refused to kiss him for an entire day which left Kaeya very distraught and aching.)
And when you come back from a mission, your familiar scent smothered by the tang of feral vampires, Kaeya would greet you like clockwork with a kiss and a hug at the door despite his intense aversion towards the smell of ferals.
He’d hoist you up into his arms and carry you to the bathroom before peeling your hunting clothes off and depositing you into a bath scented with your favorite rose oils. The bathwater would get most of the stink out, but Kaeya knew your muscles would ache from the hunting and that some of the stench would linger, he’d work the knots in your body and scrub at the blood that stained your scarred skin. He always started at your neck and ended with your toes and you’d always try to stop him—you were extremely ticklish—but in the end, he always had his way.
But archons. When you were under him—
“I swear you get wetter—tighter, ah fuck—” you desperately arch up against his hips, chasing heat and friction, “—when my fangs are on your neck. Why’s that baby?” Kaeya mumbles. Sugar and sin against your beating pulse, so loud you can somehow hear it through the rough rasp of his voice and the erotic sounds of your bodies intertwining with each other.
Kaeya is mocking, but his tone belies his own control; taut, thin strands of sweet candy floss that could snap at any moment. But your unraveling is always his goal, what’s most important to him, so he squeezes his eyes shut to push the bleeding red from his eyes and tightens his grip on your hips to anchor himself.
“I—I don’t know—” Your answer comes out as a moan, half-delirious from the steady pressure building between the juncture of your thighs, and you buck against him again before digging your heels into his lower back to keep him inside you.
But Kaeya simply ignores you with a lazy smile, instead mimicking the drag of his hard length inside you with blunted fangs against the column of his throat. The dull pain slides across your sensitized skin, a numbing, delicious promise.
“P-Please I, I need, ah,” you whimper brokenly, trying to fight your mind for words when Kaeya presses a perfectly timed callused palm to your stomach. And suddenly it feels like he’s filling you everywhere, consuming all the empty spaces in your body.
“You need what, darling? You’re a smart girl so use your words,” he chides, dragging each thrust out—slow and honey amidst the haze of your pleasure. “You know I’ll give you whatever you ask for. Command me as you see fit.”
“It’s easy for you to say when you—”
A sharp thrust, full. His tip kisses your cervix and the stretch almost hurts, making you scramble for a fistful of his hair to steady yourself. Keeping his pace steady, he returns to nibble your neck, fangs teasing and nipping the hollow of your neck. Even when you whine against him, raking your nails down his back, Kaeya doesn’t stop until he feels he’s lavished enough attention on your neck. He licks the blooming purple rose on your neck and draws back to admire his handiwork.
Kaeya hums. “Is that what you need, baby?”
The vibrations travel straight to your core, and you shake your head and whine. Kaeya grins. He knows that’s not what you meant, but seeing you beg and fall apart is so much better than just giving it straight to you.
He liked the chase almost as much as he liked watching you lose your mind.
“Y-You know that’s not it. That’s not what I want,” you cry while squirming, trying to seek sweet, hard relief.
“Then tell me, baby.”
Your muscles tighten with each quick thrust, the heavy drag of his cock like a key twisting your insides tighter and tighter. “I want you to-to—ah, fuck, baby not—”
“Words, baby,” he whispers hotly. Fire and brimstone.
"I-I can’t,” you sob shakily, tears welling in your eyes.
Kaeya flips you over and pulls your hair lightly, creating a delicious burn on your scalp. You dig your hands into the sheets, crinkling the silk as you blink wet eyes in an attempt to focus your thoughts.
“Poor baby,” he coos, not at all sorry if the way he thrusted into your cunt was any indication of his intentions. “Too dumb to speak, are you? Can’t use your big girl words?”
“Want you, mmf, want your, ah, fangs, please—”
“Ah, my love.” Kaeya slips two fingers into your mouth, pressing against your tongue. Warm saliva drips down his cold fingers. “I’ve got you now,” he murmured, voice low against the shell of your ear. “You want me to drink your blood, baby?”
You turn, nodding as much as you could given the position.
“Then I need you to cum.” Kaeya pulled out, and you whimpered at the loss, a cry of frustration bubbling in your throat.
“But I want it now. I don’t care if it hurts,” you whine, eyes glassy with need.
“I need you to cum so it hurts less though, baby. You know that’s how we always do it.” Kaeya adjusts himself and lines the tip up with your pussy, moving his cock up and down to spread your slick and tease your clit. “So will you be a good girl for me and cum so I can reward you?”
You nod. You’re so close to the edge that you know you’ll cum the moment he sinks into you again.
He kisses you. Full-bodied, tongue circling yours, and pulls back when he smells the frustration—arousal—increase. He steadies himself against your cunt before pushing inside without warning in one fluid motion, and remembers that he still has to stay sane enough to give you what you want. (But it’s hard to think when his balls are pressed tight against your ass, and your insides feel tighter than they did before.) Kaeya drags his heavy length out, leaving just the tip inside your wet heat, before achingly pushing back in.
Close, close—
“Almost there?” he murmurs, voice soft against his hardness. He grinds down on you and sinks deep while pinching your clit hard, watching as you fall apart under him, mouth open, throat straining, vein thickening—long, smooth and—
Sharp fangs sink into your beating pulse. Blinding pleasure streaks through you before syrupy pleasure spills into your veins. Kaeya sees red and struggles to keep himself steady against your soft body and wet heat.
You seemed to have a habit of doing that to him. Making him crazy, wild, ache for you. With each heavy draw of blood, he relishes the sweet taste, hoping that each additional drop would quench his thirst, but it never does. His mind grows fuzzy, fangs throbbing with each drag.
He might never have enough of you. Never be satisfied.
Kaeya groans.
You’d be his downfall.

Definitely the more integrated I get and the less I dissociate from the other parts of me, weird little quirks have started cropping up due to the various different traits between the different parts of me interacting with each other. I think the biggest thing right now is our ADHD symptoms; before, they'd be pretty secluded from each other and certain alters would experience certain symptoms more severely. Purple got the worst of our hyperactivity, Green struggled the most with executive dysfunction, and I struggled a lot with staying organized and focused. Of course, this isn't to say we didn't experience the other symptoms. All of us struggled with every aspect of ADHD, but there was definitely a pattern for what each part seemed to have the most trouble with.
Except.... well, now that I have a fuller picture, sure, some of it was different parts struggling more with specific aspects of ADHD, but also a not-insignificant aspect of all this was that we weren't aware of how much we each struggled with the other symptoms. Sure, my hyperactive symptoms don't necessarily present the same way, but I'm still incredibly fidgety and need to get up and walk away from my desk pretty regularly. That's not the same as Purple running up and down hallways or speaking quickly or bouncing on our feet, but it's still very definitely hyperactivity. And I was honestly just completely blind to my own executive dysfunction because I believed I just needed enough pressure to start on a project, when in reality "needing enough pressure" is in itself an example of executive dysfunction at play. Similarly, Purple struggles with remembering what tasks need to be done each day, and Green has trouble planning things out even when he knows what needs to be done, both of these being examples of them having trouble getting organized.
I also think that, now that we're more integrated, there's a lot more bleed through where the aspects of our ADHD symptoms we'd each respectively dissociated away is now hitting each of us more. So not only am I dealing with my own lack of organization skills and whatnot, the other stuff is also starting to compound and thus I'm having trouble juggling these new or heightened symptoms that I haven’t really dealt with before.
It's not a bad thing, if anything integration has shown me that these symptoms have always existed inside of me and I've just dissociated them away or dealt with them in an otherwise unhealthy manner. I now have to find healthier and more productive ways to manage my ADHD, which is gonna take time and effort but should overall make my life feel less chaotic and out of control.

Billy watched you make a beeline for the Fanta as you entered the gas station, rolling his last cigarette between his lips as you grabbed three bottles, dropping one. “Ah, fudge.” You said, bending down and chasing the bottle as it rolled away from you, the fizz in the bottle looked ready to erupt.
“You better open that last, I don’t want Fanta all over my seats.” He said, still playing with his cigarette. You ignored him, too focused and getting the bottle. A one track mind.
And he knew miles down the road, you’d need more soda. He was surprised you could sleep with all the caffeine you drank. But you’d end up face pressed against the seat, drooling and snoring, wrapped in his hoodie.
“Marlboro reds, 100s.” He said to the cashier, watching you grab some trail mix. Two bags of it, still balancing your soda, the sleeves of his hoodie were just too long on you.
“You’re just gonna pick the candy out, dandelion.” He said, his voice warm like honey, remembering how you made a wish on a dandelion when he first met you, the seeds flying away in the wind, as you blew on them.
You approached while juggling it all, rain hitting the windows that afternoon, fall leaves stuck to the gas station windows, as thunder rumbled.
Lightning flashed, and you bumped his hip with yours, playfully. “No.” You smiled, eyes alight, setting your stuff on the counter.
He huffed a laugh at your insistence that you’d eat it all, as you both paid, leaving the store. He knew he'd end up eating what you didn’t. And then you’d buy more.
He never wanted these days to end, he thought, climbing in the car and starting the engine.
And there you sat with the trail mix, picking out the candy.

Our Future.. |Sebastian Sallow x Reader
Warnings : cursing
Themes : fluffy
Description: during sixth year, sebastian being exhausted taking all these classes at once whilst using a Time turner could be exhausting, but you can never be too tired to not turn it the opposite way....
Sebastian's POV
God I shouldn't have signed up for so many damn classes! I just got through herbology and defense against the dark arts, whilst also juggling charms and potions.
By the span of 1 month, he couldn't do it anymore. He was honestly thinking about returning the wretched thing back in again. But that was before he knew of its other purpose.
During potions, one of the newer assignments were to collect your own ingredients for the thunderbrew potion, and those take a minute to find, at least he will have the weekend to stay at feldcroft.
He's been staying there by himself since the incident with Solomon and with anne being gone as well, who else was gonna take care of the garden or the home whilst gone for school.
He would come every weekend to clean and tend the plants, and neighbors.
After class released, he ran straight out to the floo flame, not even bothering to talk to ominous and Y/N walking out as well.
It's true, he has been avoiding them since the end of fifth year, it's just... how can you come back from that. Like nothing happened.
He just needs his head clear, he's sure they won't abandon him... Will they?
He shakes his head as he finally takes In his surroundings, he's at his childhood home.
Some of the neighbors waving him at him, and shouting welcome home, while all he could do was wave back, he didn't deserve their kindness.
After a long afternoon of cleaning and tending, he decides to take a bath and gets ready for bed.
He plops on the bed that his sister once laid in, he could still smell her and Solomon scents in the home, he'll never forget them.
The time turner still hung around his neck, he lifts to examine it.
It really was pretty just by itself, and extremely powerful.. Sounds like someone he knew, he giggles and lowers the flame to a dim light to fall asleep to.
BY MORNING
Sebastian was still dead asleep by sunrise which was unusual since he's usually a morning person.
But that's not what wakes him up, what wakes him up was a pair of frail but strong hands grips him and holds him down, scaring the living shit out of sebastion.
He opens his eyes up to see a boy around his age about twelve or thirteen, pretty scrawny form, about 5'4, had hair just like his but more wavy and his eyes were familiar but couldn't point it out.
Tumblr media
"Who are you! What are you in my bed?!" he yells in sebastian's face keeping a heavy hold on him, damn for a scrawny kid he was sure strong.
Sebastian manages to push the kid off of him and snatched his wand before he started to book it, forgetting his stuff and him only having his wand and the time turner.
He managed to run to the little valleys by the village, he was actually scared he ended up in someone else's house for a minute but that wasn't possible, it was his home.
The village was loud and full of people, he hasn't remembered the last time there was this many people in feldcroft. It kinda scared him, where did all these people come from?
Now his face was confused and angry, what the hell was a random kid thinking he could just barge in and yell at him saying that HE was the one trespassing, I don't fucking think so.
He cast disillusionment to sneak closer to the house and saw the boy come out of the home with something in his hands or rather someone.
A little girl not older than five, she had more olive skin than the older boy, her hair being the same brown and tucked in a ponytail, but the one thing that stood out to him, was that she had his mother's eyes.
Even the Same shape and color.
Tumblr media
He was tearing up at the sight of practically seeing his mom in some way or another.
He wanted to get closer but then a woman was running towards them, she looked really familiar too.
"Finn! What happened?!" the woman grabs the little girl from his Arms and grabs him In for a side hug and kissed his head.
"There was a boy in my bed! One minute he wasn't there and then the next he was! I chased him out, I don't think he saw ellie when he ran." he finished and sebastian couldn't help but giggle, he talks super fast when he gets excited, just like Y/N.
But now that he was inching closer and closer by the more they were conversating, but something about the mother gets him thinking, she sounds awfully familiar too.
He takes a good look and then realized that this WAS Y/N.
His heart dropped when he realized as his brain connected the dots, he must of accidentally went to the future in his sleep.
He thought of something else, 'So, Y/N has kids in the future?' he couldn't stop staring at her because she was truly enchanting, she had this glow on her when she was with her kids, it made her more attractive even.
'She is so beautiful.' and right when he thought that, someone apparated in the middle of feldcroft and it looked like a older version of HIM.
He came running to the house, grabbed his son by the shoulder, just like Solomon would do to him, heh apple doesn't fall far from the tree I guess.
The father took him a few feet away from the girls to talk.
He was too distracted by watching himself and his son talk to each other. Ellie was picking up another aura around, just like her dad's but much lighter, more youthful.
Ellie began to thrash in her mother's grasp making y/n let go of her and follow her.
After having ellie Y/N figured out pretty quickly that her daughter would have her abilities, even showing her things she hasn't seen before.
But the one thing that ellie does, she can see and feel aura's, she can know who they are and to see if they are good or bad.
If ellie senses something she will want to reach out and follow whatever it is, and if someone or something was holding her back, she would throw a tantrum.
But as a mom, she did worry one day ellie might sense something she's not supposed to and it'll have a hold of her. She knows it's only been people and some ancient magic she had found but Y/N was worried of all her baggage will be placed on her children, especially their daughter.
Her son however had her personality, her son was all her except one thing, he had sebastian's overprotective nature and has his knack of never giving up, especially when it comes to his family.
She hadn't sensed any ancient magic In her son like she had with her daughter, in her mind she was thankful, he wouldn't have to go through the hardships of ancient magic like his sister will have too.
But she snapped out of her thoughts as she follows ellie around the valleys, she saw ellie heading up to the creak between two big stones.
Not long after she had found the younger sebastian, and again had got the shit scared out of him making his disillusionment spell disappear.
Y/N couldn't believe her eyes, she was looking at a 16 year old version of her husband. It was weird to think she met him at that age, but she shakes her head and heads towards him.
She grabs ellie from in front of him and just stares at him, whilst ellie keeps reaching for the younger clone.
Sebastian was so distracted by seeing his future self and HIS son that he didn't notice his own daughter sneaked behind him.
He couldn't help but stare at how breathtakingly beautiful y/n had grown to be.
'Is this really our future together?' hope glammored in his eyes, but he guess he must've been staring for too long cause she started to question.
Once y/n saw the boy that her son was ranting about, her nerves calmed down realizing this was someone she knew, but what was not good was that she met this version of her husband when she was 15, he wasn't supposed to be here, and he wasn't supposed to know anything about the future.
And he CANNOT let her husband see his younger version, one of the rules of the time turner I guess.
"Quick! When did you come from?!' she whispers as she crouches down to his level due to him still sitting, he's confused on how she figured out the situation but it was obvious cause the time turner was out on top of his shirt.
He answers, "uh the beginning of sixth year?" see if that would ring a bell, and turns out it did cause y/n smiles and says, "Just give it 5 turns to the left, that should bring you back to where you were." she smiles kindly as she starts walking back with the little girl.
"Wait! Can I see her? One more time?" sebastian asks in a desperate tone, he wanted to see his mom one last time.
Y/N immediately knew that he saw his mom in his daughters eyes, a trait she never would have thought of, but that's what makes ellie much more special.. so she sets Ellie down and let her run to sebastian.
He gets up before she crashes into his arms, even though he was still young, ellie was still so small compared to him, his little girl.
He lifted her to where he could really see her features, she was a very beautiful little girl, just like her mom.
And then he noticed that his older self and son were gone from the place where he last saw them.
He saw his older self go into the house, but his son stopped and looked in to see his mother and sister weren't there, but not long he looks up and sees his mother on the valleys.
Finn gets up to the top to see the boy he attacked earlier is holding his baby sister and his mom was just letting it happen?
"How do I do it?" sebastian randomly asks, making y/n laugh out loud, making her question, "What do you mean seb?" her nickname for him will always melt his heart, he knows it's not the most creative but it still wams his heart.
"I mean, How do I make this happen? A life with you and our kids, I want this to actually happen! Please tell me what I need to do!" sebastian kinda panics for a minute but calms his nerves when he hears his best friend laughing at him.
"You just need to be patient, let time take it's course, and maybe ask her to date." y/n couldn't believe she was giving her husband's younger self to get her younger self, ain't this one for the book of jokes.
"I think you should write her little love letters, those were always my favorites." he nods his head as she smiles then she takes ellie back into her arms.
"Remember sebastian, 5 turns to the left... Good luck." after she says that she starts walking away and finds her son spying on the both of them, she giggles and shakes her head, "Come on Finn!" she yells after making it down the hill past Finn.
Finn still hesitates to leave the boy all alone, not trusting but the last call of his mother made him leave.
Sebastian sees Finn Leave and smiles to himself, he really did have sebastian's overprotective nature when it came to his girls.
He takes a deep breath and turns the time turner the amount of times to return back.
And all of a sudden the noise of the village was as quiet as a door mouse, this seemed more accurate.
He ran down to his home to see if his stuff was there and low and behold it was.
He couldn't get the images of older y/n and his kids out of his head, his own kids!
'Wow.. I have kids' and they were beautiful and he couldn't wait till he can get that life, but now all he has to do is take the first step.
My dear charge, Y/n..

Hi! It’s me again I was wondering if I could request another goku + younger sister reader but this time can it be but like them being siblings and them doing sibling stuff (Hc’s please 😚🫶)
HIIII! Yes! If you couldn't tell by now I love doing any platonic goku stuff its so cute and fun to think abt
GOKU AS Y0UR BIG BROTHER!
• Okay so just an FYI, you weren't raised by your big brother. Sorry, chi chi has enough stress with sayains as is, and not enough budget for three mouths again.
•Also, because you didn't hit your head when you landed, you werent exactly good.
•Not to say you were 'Abduct his child' type evil, probably because you're only four years older than Goten, but tou weren't good either. You blew up some stuff, injured people and tried to establish your dominance over the planet, gave Yamcha several heart attacks, and you had No idea who Vegeta was.
•So when they tried to get him to order you around that clearly backfired when his authority was tested by a sassy adolescent.
•"cease this absurd behavior! Your prince demands it!"
•It didn't help that he was wearing the pink shirt with some odd sandels. You looked him up and down before you scoffed.
•"Sorry princess, but I don't listen to stupid men in pink."
•Safe to say, you were a jerk, Goku knocked you out and Vegeta had to sit this fight out or he'd strangle a child.
•It took yall a while to get along, not because of trust issues from Raditz but because you were low-key evil too and you didn't like ANYONE at first.
•Hell it took a while to get you to stop being territorial or just flat out running away.
•Goku was the last person you bonded with, and that was because he kept having to drag you back home with your teeth latched into his arm.
•"Hey there- AH!" he cries out as you lunge at him and sink your teeth into his arm,, he swings his arm around hoping to detach you but its like you're locked on!
•"Ouch! Who just goes around biting people?!"
•Things changed a bit when you guys actually got along though. I guess the biting brought you closer??
•Goku doesn't visit that much, when it isn't involving training. I mean, the guy has work and trains with gods. He's very busy, but he makes time for you.
•Since you're close to gotens age but also a few years older, he likes to make time to pick you up from school to hang out with him and Goten for a bit.
•Its not like he just snatches you up out of school, he knows better, he's a father afterall, but after-school he's always excited to pick you and Goten up.
•"Hey! Ready to go?"
•However sometimes he forgets that he can't fly in public. Easy slip up, can you blame him though? It's as natural as walking!
°"Goku! You're flying!"
•"oh! Shoot!"
•Outings and shopping sprees are rare but he has experience with Chi Chi so he learned how to juggle the bags you throw to him while you go crazy in the mall.
•He doesn't mind it though because its a way to spend time with a non-deadly family member. Although he questions how deadly you are when it comes to a sale.
•"Hey! Thats on sale!"
°"But didn't that lady already cut infront to take it?"
•"That doesn't mean I'm gonna let her keep it!"
•Its like watching deers headbutt eachother. Then you just come back with the biggest grin holding up the shirt you wanted and adding it to the pile.
•When it comes to the food I pray for the people cooking..
•The two of you together have nearly been banned due to how much you eat, one restaurant offered to pay you two to just leave and stop ordering.
•You guys do play fight, at random times too.
•One minute you're getting along and they next, one of you is punching the other in the face.
•Goku bites. It's Canon, we see it all the time so don't think he won't chomp down just because yall are play fighting.
•it might also be payback for when you bit him...

This sick fic is based some brainrot I sent @modernsuperhero.
“Fic where Captain Marvel's just up and gone for a while in the winter and it's because Billy got really sick and he couldn't get a ‘Shazam!’ out. Mans can't even breathe through his *nose,* dude.”
“Freddy's this close to using Billy's Justice League comm and blowing the secret because even if his friend's probably not gonna die the city needs protecting. Billy hoarse shouts that he's got it. He'll be back out there soon.”
“Billy piled with every blanket they have and getting most of their fluids because they just need one good word. Just *one* clear Shazam and he'll be fine.”
“He'll still be sick as Billy but they'll be able to get to nicer spots to sleep and keep villains and criminals at bay until he changes back.”
(To clarify: Billy’s patrons are external peeps only in this one and Marvel’s only around sometimes.)
Billy feels pathetic.
He hasn’t been on patrol for days and people have noticed. He drops off the map all the time as Captain Marvel whenever one of his teammates needs a hand. He’s gone to space a nonzero amount of times, for weeks. So it’s not like the people of Fawcett are worried, but they’ve noticed.
And if they’ve noticed, the league has definitely noticed.
It hasn’t gotten to the point where they’ve started contacting him but he doesn’t want to let it get to that point. He’s gone four years without them dropping into his city for a wellness check and he’d like to keep that streak.
It’d be easy. Just power up, go on patrol for at least two hours, and then curl back up under the blanket pile to go round two with his fever. Or he could stay as Captain Marvel and just zap back to being Billy so he can hydrate and pee and possibly vomit. He’s learned not to go entire days as Marvel when he’s not on extended league trips because the consequences are disgusting. His younger body isn’t completely in stasis when he’s Marvel and it’s admittedly not the worst drawback to juggle.
The problem? He’s failed at step one.
“Sh-“ Billy fights not to cough. “Shazam.”
Instead of lightning crashing through the roof of the condemned clinic they’ve holed up in all that comes is that dumb fucking mucus from the back of his throat. The stuff that’s plagued him for days.
He coughs up the phlegm, spits off to the side, and tries again. “Shazam. Shazam, Shazam, Shazam!”
None of them come out louder than a whisper. Billy thunks his head against the wall and sniffles because wiping his nose with his sleeve would be pointless.
Freddy went to go refill their water bottles at a public fountain that’s still running a couple blocks away. Billy is supposed to be sleeping and getting better, but he doesn’t need to get better if he can just get a clear word out.
Just one clear Shazam and he’d be able to take a zeta tube up to the Watchtower to raid the infirmary and the fridge and also snag some more blankets because the one he’s snuggled up against is all gross now. And then he’d have some medicine and get better faster so he can get back to working for laundry and food money and also they’d be able to move all their stuff to somewhere less vulnerable. Somewhere that won’t make him sick again-
There’s so much stuff to do that he can only think in circles about and it’s driving him up the wall. Billy counts himself lucky that there haven’t been any big name threats in town. They show up sometimes if they think he’s not here so they can lure him back from whatever mission he’s on and spring a trap on him.
Instead it’s just been Freddy taking care of him as best as he can with the stuff they have. Billy swears that the moment he can he’s gonna go shove so many supplies into a pocket dimension that they’ll never have to think about not having enough until at least New Year’s. Damn whatever his coworkers will think, they’ve been hungry hungry and him throwing up what little they have isn’t helping. He wants to make this right so bad it burns worse than the cold.
“Shazam.” Billy croaks into the silence of the drafty supply closet. “Shazam.”
Billy looks, sounds, and feels pathetic.
Billy tenses at the sound of a door creaking. He grabs the screwdriver he’s hidden in the blanket pile and tries to look asleep.
“Billy, it’s me!”
Billy slumps with relief at the sound of Freddy’s voice. Cool, he’s not gonna have to knife fight someone over this spot. Again. It’s as his friend gets closer that Billy can make out his distinctive shuffle-tap and finds further comfort that it’s not a voice-snatcher either.
His life’s so fucking weird.
“I know you’re not actually sleeping, dingbat.” There’s a crinkle sound. “I got dinner.”
And Billy’s up. Well, as up as he can be when he’s probably running a hundred and one degrees and ejecting half his body’s fluids or so every day. Which is to say he opens his eyes, props himself against the wall to sit up, and makes grabby hands at the chip bags Freddy managed to score.
“You’re the best.” Billy croaks out. “Any heat?”
Freddy tosses the medium-size Doritos bag Billy’s way. “Pfft, like they even looked my way. I’m too quick to be perceived by mortal eyes.”
“Did you get the other thing?” Billy asks with no small amount of hope in his raspy voice.
“The water? Yeah, just a sec.” Freddy twists his backpack around so he can access it and pulls out one of the Gatorade bottles they fill with water.
“Nice.” Billy hisses out with a smile.
He shuffles out from under all of their blankets and grabs the offered water. Chips can wait, he has to try.
Freddy thinks otherwise.
“Whoa, hey, maybe you should eat first? You didn’t keep anything down yesterday.”
Billy gives Freddy a flat look. “We’ve been over this. Cap comes first because he’s gonna put us first.”
“Marvel would want you to eat.” Freddy points out.
“Marvel isn’t here right now.”
Billy pointedly doesn’t think about what Solomon would say about this. He’ll deal with the lecture while he’s grabbing all the cough medicine the Watchtower has in stock.
As it stands, he stands up so he can take a swig of water and go outside to transform. For all his worrying, Freddy knows Billy’s right and lets him leave the room to exit through the hole in the waiting room.
It’s near freezing outside and if this doesn’t work Billy’s probably setting himself back on any progress he’s made recovering. But he doesn’t care. He drinks a quarter of the water bottle, clears his throat, and tries to speak clearly.
“Shazam!”
Silence. Nothing but the distant sounds of his city going about its day.
His grip on the bottle tightens and if it wouldn’t be an absolute waste he’d chuck it as far as he’s capable of. Which would be pretty damn far, Strength of Hercules or no.
Billy doesn’t want to, but he walks back inside red in the face from more than just the cold and plops back onto their blanket pile. He eats his chips without a word and Freddy doesn’t even say anything because he does have tact.
They both know why this pisses him off so much.
After everything he’s faced, after all the fights and the invasions and the world-ending catastrophes. It’s a goddamn sore throat that’s doing him in. That’s made him feel more helpless and scared and uncertain than all his enemies combined.
Because it doesn’t matter how pure his heart is. His body is small and malnourished and doesn’t have decent shelter more than a third of the time. He’s going to get sick. And no amount of blessings or Wisdom or lightning can help him if he keeps hacking up a lung like this. His teammates won’t be able to help him if he’s wearing this face.
He won’t let them. No matter what Freddy says.
“Y’know-“
“No.” Billy shuts that line of thought down immediately.
Freddy balls up his empty Lays bag. “You didn’t even let me start.”
“I know what you’re gonna say, Freddy.” It’s the same argument every time.
“Well maybe this time you’ll find it compelling.”
Billy starts dragging the blankets onto his lap. “Highly doubt it.”
“Just, at least think about it. We wouldn’t even have to tell them you’re, well, you. We can tell them Cap sent us because you were really sick! And that he’s busy taking care of some bad guy and can’t get us the stuff he normally does.”
“You want to walk up to a zeta tube and tell them you’re one of Cap’s strays? Batman would look into us in a heartbeat and if he decides to keep an eye on us ‘for our own good’ I’d get caught so fast.” Billy rubs at his face. “The lightning’s not subtle, Freddy.”
“Then we don’t call Batman. What about Superman?”
“Superman would call CPS on us so fast. Next.” He’s willing to run down the list if it means Freddy drops this.
He doesn’t have to, apparently. Freddy drags a hand through his hair and leans forward from where he’s sitting on a crate that’s probably as old as they are.
“Then I don’t know how else to help you, Billy.” Freddy admits.
Billy’s confused. “What are you talking about? You’ve helped plenty.”
Freddy’s been providing for both of them for days now. Getting them food and water and keeping an eye on the news so Billy can actually sleep knowing there’s no big trouble. He’s even insisted on Billy taking more than his usual share of the blanket pile despite the fact that his sweat and general sickness is making them gross. Those have all been a huge help!
“That’s not true. Yeah, I’ve been picking up some slack, but I haven’t helped you. Not the way you do for me when I’m sick.”
“That’s not fair.” Billy says immediately. “You’re doing everything you can-“
“And what if it’s not enough?” The sudden intensity of Freddy’s tone makes Billy flinch back a little. “You haven’t gotten worse but you also haven’t gotten better. We don’t even know what you’re sick with, what if it’s something really bad?”
Oh holy shit. Billy didn’t know this was eating at Freddy so much. He feels like an asshole for not taking this seriously.
Of course Freddy’s worried. They both get sick all the time. They eat stuff they probably shouldn’t have, they cuddle their way through rough nights under bridges, they get exposed to all kinds of space germs because Billy’s life is weird.
But they’ve always had Cap through all that. By the luck of the gods Billy’s always been able to power up and take charge of the situation, even when he’s the one sick.
Especially when it’s Freddy that’s sick. He pulls out every stop and uses Cap’s form to get Freddy somewhere warmer, to get him good food, to get them access to medicine.
Freddy can’t do that. The medicine aisles in pharmacies are too far in the back for Freddy to make a clean escape, no matter how subtle or quick he is. Billy’s still the one that would have to get up and throw hands if someone tried to take this spot from them, sick or not. Freddy doesn’t have anyone he can call in to help.
Not without Billy’s permission.
Freddy seems to realize he’s unloaded and backtracks. “But we can figure something out. Please, Billy-“
“Okay.”
“I-“ Freddy pauses. “What? You’re serious.”
“Help me up, we’re calling Green Arrow. He owes me and he’s not a snitch.”
Freddy sticks his arm into the loop for his crutch and crosses the closet to help Billy up. “Epic. Alright, how far is the nearest tube?”
“I think it’s the telephone booth four blocks East. The one by the nice deli.” Billy is tempted to take a blanket with him but just pulls his jacket closed and starts walking. “I’ll do the talking. We’re telling him we’re the kids Cap talks about and that he’s off-world. I’m gonna have to bullshit a report and maybe lie to Batman’s face when I clock in again but I want cough drops so bad.”
“If you tell them it was magic stuff they might not ask where you went,” Freddy suggests as they exit through the hole in the wall.
Billy snorts. “Of all the things to be thankful for I never thought it’d be the Justice League knowing fuck all about magic.”
The trip to the zeta tube is thankfully uneventful. Billy feels even colder than he normally would because of his fever and Freddy’s on the lookout for any trouble heading their way.
When they make it there the booth is more than big enough to hold them both. Billy prefers contacting people from these instead of using his actual comm when he can help it because he’s a little paranoid that Bats will get a ping on where he is when he uses it. Not an unfounded fear because he’d wave it off as a safety thing.
He dials Green Arrow’s extension and realizes as the phone rings that Freddy’s put himself in front of the door. No backing out of this, they’ve come this far.
“Cap, to what do I owe the pleasure?”
Billy’s seized by a sudden anxiety. His throat feels like it’s squeezed shut and he wants to hang up and run. Freddy reaches for his hand and grips it tightly.
Green Arrow sounds concerned when he asks. “Captain Marvel, are you there?”
Billy takes a deep breath that’s probably audible and says, “This isn’t Captain Marvel, sir.”
There is silence on the other end and Billy’s never felt this wrong-footed in his life. He wants to bail so bad.
“What’s wrong, kid?” Green Arrow asks in a softer voice and something in Billy’s chest unwinds.
That’s right. His friends and coworkers are heroes. Helping the Billy Batsons of the world is what they do.
“Green Arrow, sir, we’re really sorry to bother you. There’s no emergency or anything but Captain Marvel said to call you if he didn’t come back from the magic place soon and-“
“Whoa whoa, slow down. How do you know Captain Marvel? Do you know why he left?”
“Oh, he didn’t tell us where he was going but he didn’t seem really worried. He brings us food and blankets and stuff sometimes.” Billy hears Green Arrow hum over the phone. Good, he remembers. “And normally we’d be fine with him being late, he’s off saving the world and all so we get it.”
“But you’re sick, right? You need help sooner than that.” Green Arrow guesses.
Billy knows he sounds awful but damn. Okay. Swallow back your pride and the little bit of shame, Billy. No time for that.
“Mhmm. He said we could call this number on this phone and someone else would help-“
“Don’t even worry about it kid, just tell me what you need. Food, medicine, a place to stay?”
Bill straightens his posture and says, “We’ve got a place to stay, sir. We’d really appreciate some nonperishable food items, preferably stuff we don’t need a stove for but if it’s canned we can finesse it with a lighter. But what we’re really hoping for is some cough syrup and fever reducers. Something for this congestion too-”
Freddy bumps their shoulders together and pinches his sweater with a meaningful gesture. He’s absolutely right, the shame’s already gone. And Arrow owes him big.
“And also small-bills and change for laundry, if that’s doable. Maybe some tarps and also like a wagon or something to carry this in. Do you need me to repeat any of this, sir?”
“Nah, I’ve got a list going. I can call in a solid and be in Fawcett before nightfall, probably like 8pm. Where do you want me to drop this stuff off?”
“We can come back to meet you at the uh-“ Billy fumbles for a second because he’s probably not supposed to know what this is. Luckily he has to cough and it covers his awkward pause. “The phone booth we’re calling from, sir.”
“Sounds like a plan. Don’t you worry. It’s going to be okay.”
Billy grips the phone and tries not to let Arrow hear how that made his breath hitch. For once he’s grateful for how raspy and congested he already sounds when he thanks his teammate and hangs up.
Freddy is content to let him have his little moment instead of rubbing this in his face. He’s being so patient today.
But Billy’s man enough to admit it. “You were right.”
Freddy squeezes his hand with a smile. “Always am.”
“Not true.” Billy playfully shoves him.
There’s not a whole lot to do while they wait for Green Arrow, but they head back to their spot to watch over it anyway. They start folding their stuff and taking inventory because when Arrow follows through it won’t be much longer until they can move.
When they get back to the phone booth early and sit inside it to wait a fancy black car pulls up on the curb.
Billy grips the screwdriver he brought with him and hopes Green Arrow’s not gonna show up to them beating off a rich creeper.
Then Green Arrow steps out the driver’s seat in full costume and Billy shoots to his feet so fast he nearly falls over. Freddy half-shoves him forward, which doesn’t help but it gets him moving.
“You the kids who called?” Green Arrow asks with a frown that Billy knows means he’s thinking hard.
“Yes, sir!” Billy croaks. He can’t wait to not sound like a garbage disposal.
“In that case-“ Green Arrow rounds the car and pops the trunk. “Come check out your haul.”
It’s the first time in a long time that Billy Batson has approached an adult man opening a car trunk and felt completely safe. Freddy’s quick to beat him there and take it all in.
It’s so much. Canned food, a 48 pack of water bottles, four folded up tarps, thick blankets, disposable bowls and plastic silverware, a portable stove. And that’s not even counting the Aldi bag of snacks and candy and reusable ponchos.
Billy wants to cry. This is the most anyone has ever given them at once and all he had to do was ask. He feels so stupid and so grateful at once.
He didn’t even notice when Green Arrow opened the back seat to pull out an actual red wagon until he started stacking stuff onto it. Billy’s small and sick and he’s never respected Green Arrow more in his life. He’s going to take every bullet for this man. All of them.
“Didn’t know if you wanted anything else, so take this too.” Green Arrow finishes stacking stuff and presents them with some sandwich bags of money.
One is full of just quarters and is heavy because of it, another is filled with wads of what look like ones and fives, and the third is filled with wads of twenties. Plural.
Billy is crying. He shouldn’t be because his nose is already congested and he’s gonna be so embarrassed later that he cried in front of his coworker, but fuck it. He hugs him and gets a surprised little oof for his troubles when he squeezes the life out of Arrow. Arrow hugs him back anyway and it takes everything in Billy not to cover his friend’s costume in snot.
Billy’s probably just another victim that Arrow’s helping. One act of kindness out of the thousands Green Arrow does a month.
But for him and Freddy? This is everything. And Captain Marvel’s gonna have to be the one to pay it back tenfold next time Arrow breaks a bone he shouldn’t have and needs someone to watch over his city.
“Thank you.”
Green Arrow’s voice is warm and sure and a little bit of that everything when he says, “No problem. Stay safe, alright? The Big Red Cheese will be back before you know it.”
Billy pulls back and laughs. Because yeah, yeah he will.
He decides to pull the cart while Freddy keeps a hand on its contents from behind. Green Arrow watches them for about a block before they can hear his expensive car rev to life and pull away.
Billy gives it another two blocks before Freddy signals it’s all clear and he pops the entire cart into a pocket dimension. They walk the rest of the way with empty hands but wide grins as they talk about what they should actually have for dinner now. They’ve already had some chips but given their high spirits they can probably split a can of chicken noodle soup or two. As a treat.
Before any of that though Billy pulls the medicine they got out and onto the floor so they can read over the labels and decide what he should take. The sore throat is an absolute priority now that they’ve been provided for. Freddy Freeman and Billy Batson are pretty set but Fawcett as a whole needs Cap back soon.
Some yucky cough syrup and actually hot soup later, they’re hashing out when they should go do laundry and what else they need and if it’d be viable to try to split a gym membership again for a little while for the showers. They can afford to have this conversation.
And if Captain Marvel drops by the Watchtower to submit his report a few days later and he tells Green Arrow they’re more than even with the widest grin anyone’s ever seen on him?
Well, that’s none of their business.

Sihtric's alarm buzzed softly, pulling him out of his slumber with a gentle tune. He'd done it again, painted till the wee hours, lost in his own world. Rubbing his eyes, he sat up.
"Man, today's gonna be a long one," he mumbled, stretching wide enough to feel every vertebra pop.
Hopping out of bed, he wandered to the bathroom. While scrubbing his teeth and waking himself up with a splash of cold water, his mind played out the day's agenda. And looming large on that list was that meeting with you, his boss.
He had joined the advertising firm as a graphic designer just six months back, when it once again had become evident that his unpredictable art sales were simply not enough to cover rent and other bills. And in this short time, he had come to genuinely admire you. It wasn't just because you were the master over his paycheck. No, it was more. You were smart and intelligent, with a discerning eye, having worked with some of the industry's best, always full of energy and bursting with unexpected ideas.
As his coffee brewed, filling the room with a comforting aroma, Sihtric glanced at his workstation. Sketches, notes, and reminders littered the space. He had poured his soul into designs for a crucial client this week.
Sipping his coffee, warmth spreading through his fingers, Sihtric's mind drifted. He thought back to his job interview with you - how awe-struck he had been by your charisma. Every tiny detail from that day was imprinted in his mind: the way your hair framed your face, that crisp white blouse, your piercing gaze, and the assertive yet gentle tone of your voice. It felt like a dream, one where he forgot the reason he was even in that room to begin with.
You looked down at his portfolio and then back up at him, your gaze unyielding.
"Sihtric, I see you've worked with a few ad agencies before. Can you tell me about a particularly challenging project you've undertaken and how you tackled it?"
Those eyes of yours, he got trapped in them like a butterfly in a giant coweb, the question almost going unnoticed. "Oh, um, yeah," he started, voice wavering a touch, "So, there was this campaign... for a... thing, and I did, well, design stuff?"
Your eyebrow raised in a playful challenge, a smirk tugging at the corner of your mouth, "Design stuff? Could you elaborate, please?"
Embarrassed, he tried to muster a clearer answer. "Right, what I meant was I led the visual side of this big campaign. We had... differing views in the team. But, I managed to sort it out, and... made some designs?" He was mentally slapping himself on the face for his incoherence, but there was nothing he could do about it. His mind was racing. He couldn't help but notice the little details – the glint of your necklace, the soft curve of your lips. Vivid images of your fingers brushing against his skin or tangling in his hair made him sweat and he could swear his heart had jumped to his throat.
You leaned forward, placing his portfolio on the desk. "Sihtric, take a deep breath. I'm interested in your work and your experience. Let's try that again. Take your time."
He nodded, grateful for the second chance. Drawing a long breath, he tried to push aside his nervous admiration for you to give a more composed answer. The whole meeting remained a hazy whirlwind for him. Exiting your office, he felt like he'd just finished a marathon, convinced he’d made a fool of himself and butchered his chances. The real shocker came the next day when your secretary called to tell him he'd landed the job.
Sometimes he pondered if he should've declined. He never foresaw the toll it'd take on his heart. Sure, you were drop-dead gorgeous, but it wasn't just that. It was the air around you, the way you carried yourself, the balance between assertiveness and genuine warmth.
And therein lay the rub. Each interaction, from official meetings to casual chat near the coffee machine, even the fleeting moments your fingers grazed while sharing documents, tested Sihtric’s composure. He'd often find himself lingering on your laugh a second too long or jumping at chances to help you out, constantly trying to dial back before raising suspicion.
He had a love-hate relationship with big projects, especially the one he was working on now. The upside was of course spending more time with you – those endless late brainstorming evenings, project discussions gulping down morning coffees, or those afternoon progress check-ins. And then there were of course those quick breaks with some casual chats about movies or music. He lived for these moments, yet they twisted his gut, making the 'keep it professional' attitude so much harder.
Man, when you'd burst into laughter over some silly office joke or shared tidbits from your weekend, it was like a sneak peek into the real you, the person behind the boss. And, boy, did it send him spiralling.
It was a rollercoaster of emotions. The giddy highs from just being close to you followed by sinking  lows, realising his feelings might always remain a secret. Sihtric took a deep breath, setting down his drained coffee cup. Another day, another challenge to keep that secret under wraps.
And let's be real. The odds were stacked against him. On one end, there was him – an artist, struggling for recognition and forced to juggle between his passion and job in order to be able to pay his bills. On the other, there was you – successful and recognised art director of one of the city's top ad agencies, mastering work challenges with a mix of grit and grace. The idea that you might ever look his way seemed... well, ludicrous and the fact that he was your direct subordinate only emphasised how absolutely fantasy like this notion was.
—----------------------------------------------------
The company's annual Christmas party was always a big deal  — a bright spot in the midst of deadlines and stress. The office would light up, literally, with twinkling lights and festive baubles, and for a night, it'd transform into a party wonderland. The aroma of mulled wine and roasted chestnuts wafted through the air as soft carols played in the background making everybody feel warm and fuzzy.
Sihtric was in his element, chatting away with buddies about holiday escapades and the usual office gossip. The night was looking good, he was happy and truly enjoying himself, especially because he'd been recently introduced to this big-shot art lover, who seemed genuinely interested in his unique art style. And thanks to this unexpected acquaintance an exhibition was already in preparation – a dream Sihtric had cherished for years was coming true. Late nights, brushes, paints, and the chaos of bringing art to life now dominated his hours and he revelled in that even if some darker rings around his eyes testified to the lack of proper sleep.
Amid this whirlwind of preparation, another thought continually hovered at the edge of Sihtric's mind — inviting you to his exhibition. He wanted you to see beyond the office guy, to the artist, the dreamer. What better time than a Christmas party? Every time he played the scene in his mind, it would end differently. Sometimes he'd imagine you looking thrilled and promising to attend. Other times, he'd envision a polite but distant decline.
And so he was anticipating your arrival, feverishly brainstorming about the perfect moment for his invitation, as the door swung open, revealing you, looking radiant in a black dress that accentuated every line of your body, leaving Sihtric momentarily speechless and stumbling over his words. He almost choked on his drink, his gaze glued to you, following every so gracious move, his jaw slowly dropping and eyes filling with an expression of deep frustration.
You were laughing, your eyes gleaming with joy as they met those of the tall, dashing man beside you. His arm was draped casually around your waist, a possessive yet tender gesture that made Sihtric's heart sink.
Every laugh you shared, each subtle touch, and those warm exchanges of glances between you and the guy  – it all was like a dagger to Sihtric's heart. A cocktail of jealousy and a pinch of sadness brewed within him, although he kept reminding himself he had no claim over you. He had never voiced his feelings, nor had he let himself believe that someone as radiant and accomplished as you could ever see past his name tag. "Get a grip, Sihtric. She's out of your league, and you had always known that," he told himself.
But still there had always been that small, naive part of him that harboured hope, whispering tales of “what ifs”. What if one day everything would change and he would muster the courage to share his feelings? But tonight, that hope was crushed under the weight of reality.
Pulling together every remaining bit of his self-control, Sihtric pivoted back to the conversation at hand, all the while battling the urge to keep peeking over at you. But from the corner of his eye, he still saw you both — so wrapped up in each other, dancing to your own rhythm.
As the night rolled on, he kinda lost track of you two. A part of him scolded himself for even daydreaming. Of course, someone as magnetic as you couldn't be single. But, man, it didn’t dull the sting.
Feeling the need to step away for a moment and escape the party's cheerful cacophony, Sihtric made his way to the big, spacious balcony. He hoped the chilly night air might help clear his head from the whirlwind inside. The evening had started so full of hope and anticipation and now was completely ruined for him. Sihtric lit his cigarette, as he suddenly caught a murmured conversation approaching. Hoping for some privacy, he ducked behind a column, trying to blend into the shadows.
He heard at least two people stepping out on the balcony, and suddenly, it was your unmistakable voice that reached him, filled with pain and frustration. "Why her, of all people? My own secretary!" you exclaimed.
"It just... happened," the defensive reply came, which he recognized as your boyfriend's voice.
You shot back, "And you thought hiding it was the answer? I had to find out at our office Christmas party?"
The man mumbled something incomprehensible in response.
"We're done. Just go. I need to be alone right now," Sihtric heard your voice, quivering with a mix of anger and hurt.
Caught off guard, Sihtric felt awkward overhearing such a raw, personal exchange. He contemplated stepping out and admitting he was there, but before he could, he heard your boyfriend's quick exit and the sharp sound of the balcony door closing.
He briefly considered staying hidden and letting the moment pass, but seeing the unmistakable pain in your stance, he instantly ditched the idea. Taking a breath, he gave a gentle cough to signal his presence and slowly stepped forward, finding you looking distraught, the twinkling lights from inside casting a glow that made your tear-streaked face glisten. It stung seeing you like this, especially when it felt like he was trespassing on such a personal moment.
Embarrassment and shock pulsed through you with every beat of your heart. Of everyone to witness this breakdown, it just had to be Sihtric - not some fleeting acquaintance, but someone you saw and interacted with every day, someone who knew you and respected you. At least until now.
A wave of panic washed over you. Would he think differently of you now? Your carefully curated image of always being composed was now in pieces. The barriers you'd built so diligently over time  – gone in a heartbeat.
“Of all the moments...” you whispered.
Sihtric, sensing your turmoil and looking for a distraction handed you a tissue. The balcony was wrapped in a heavy silence until you mustered, "I'm sorry. You didn’t need to be a part of that."
"I didn’t mean to intrude," he responded, "It just happened so fast."
You sighed, running a hand through your hair. "This isn’t how I imagined tonight would go."
"We've all been there," he said gently, trying to lighten the mood.
Choking back a laugh, you replied, "Yeah, but usually not with an audience."
He grinned, trying to keep things casual. "Think of me as a very interested passerby."
Seeing your surprise, he quipped, "Your ex might think he's a shooting star, but to me, he seemed more like a sparkler that fizzled out. And for the record – he's an idiot."
A small laugh escaped your lips, and you shook your head. "Nice try. But thank you. Really."
Sihtric gave a playful shrug. "I’m just being real. But hey, are you okay?"
You paused, your voice softer, "Been better. Thanks for lightening the mood, though."
He took a breath, "Look, I don't want to intrude any more than I have, but you seem like you could use company right now. Can I do something for you? Can I get you a drink perhaps?"
You mulled it over briefly, then nodded, "Alright. As if things could get any worse."
With a comforting smile, Sihtric said, "I’ll be right back."
—-----------------------------------------
The party's noise faded to a dull murmur as you both got lost in the chat.
Sihtric felt a mix of things. It pained him to see you upset, but man, he couldn't deny the thrill of getting this unplanned time with you. He kept sneaking looks, thinking how your smile looked even cooler up close.
A strand of your hair playfully draped across your face, and he had to resist the urge to gently push it back. And with the soft background music, an invitation to dance nearly escaped his lips. But he held back, sensing it might be a step too far.
His art exhibition was on his mind too. He wanted to share it, just needed to slide it into the conversation smoothly.
"You know," he started, swirling the last sip of his drink thoughtfully.  "Besides the whole graphic designer stuff, I paint. There's something magic about splashing colours on a canvas."
You looked intrigued. "Is that so? I always thought your designs had an extra touch of soul. Like there's a story hidden in every piece."
Sihtric chuckled, his eyes brightening, clearly stoked by your comment. The two of you continued to chat, the conversation flowing effortlessly. Emboldened by the ambiance and perhaps that second cocktail, Sihtric leaned in a bit, "You know, I actually have an exhibition coming up soon. It's a collection of my recent works. I... I’d really love it if you could come. I think you might appreciate the stories behind the paintings."
You blinked, processing this. You knew Sihtric was talented, but an entire exhibition? "I'm in," you smiled. "Always had a soft spot for art, especially when it's by someone I know."
His eyes brightened noticeably, and he fought to keep his composure, a warmth spreading across his cheeks.
As the evening wore on, the earlier events combined with the cocktails left you in a heady state. Your laughter became louder, and your steps weren't as sure. Noticing your state and the watchful eyes around, Sihtric decided to step in. This was not the right place to put your vulnerability on display with all the employees and bosses of the company gathered in one place.
Fetching your coat, he gently wrapped it around you, subtly guiding you towards the exit.
“Okay, boss, looks like it’s home time,” Sihtric said, his tone light, attempting to infuse some humour into the situation.
You chuckled, a sound that was melodious yet laced with the unmistakable touch of too many cocktails. “I’m not ready for the night to end,” you protested mildly, though made no effort to resist as Sihtric waved down a taxi.
When the car pulled up, Sihtric had a moment of awkward realisation - he had no clue where you lived. That was a detail that, somehow, had never come up in all your office interactions.
“So, uh, where to?” he ventured, a hint of embarrassment in his voice.
You rattled off an address, the words a bit slurred but intelligible. When he recognized it as one of the city’s posh neighbourhoods, Sihtric's eyebrows rose a notch.
The gentle hum of the car's engine provided a steady backdrop to your sporadic, light-hearted giggles. Every so often, Sihtric would sneak a peek at you. Tonight had been a whirlwind, and he was spinning from the rapid shifts in emotion. One moment he felt he'd lost any chance with you, the next, he learned you were single again. And amidst it all, he had managed to extend an invite to his exhibition. But as he looked at your tipsy, carefree state, he silently hoped you'd remember their conversation come morning.
Upon arrival at your grand apartment complex, you leaned into him, the evening's indulgences making your steps falter. As you fumbled around in your pockets for keys that were conspicuously absent, the reality of the situation began to set in.
"Oh no," you murmured, panic lining your voice, "I think I left my handbag at the party."
Sihtric's eyes widened as he processed your words. "Are you sure? Think. Where did you last see it?"
You tried to recall, but the fog of alcohol muddled your memories. "I...I don’t know. I think I left it on the bar counter when I went to get a drink."
Sihtric sighed, taking a moment to think. Feeling your weight lean into him as you struggled to maintain your balance, he instinctively wrapped an arm around your waist to stabilise you.
"Okay, let's think this through," Sihtric began, his voice calm and measured, "Going back to the party venue at this hour might not be the best idea. They're likely cleaning up or closing already. Tomorrow first thing, we can check for your handbag. For tonight, do you have any friends or family nearby?"
Your head shake was slow and a bit exaggerated. "They're miles away."
“Any chance there’s a spare key somewhere? Maybe a friendly neighbour?" he asked.
You hesitated, "I... I've kept to myself mostly."
In the quiet night, the predicament seemed to amplify. Here he was, in the dead of night, with his drunken boss outside her apartment, both locked out. He could never have imagined a scenario like this.
After a deep breath, he said, "Alright, look, I have a couch at my place. It's not much, but it's comfortable. You can crash there for the night, and we’ll sort everything out in the morning."
You blinked, a bit caught off guard by the unexpected offer. On any normal day, you would've politely declined. But right now, with your thoughts swimming in a cocktail haze, you giggled and responded, "Really? Are you sure?"
Sihtric smiled, "It's not a problem. It's late, you need a place, and I can't, in good conscience, leave you out here."
The car ride to Sihtric's place was a tranquil one. You leaned into the window's cool embrace, fighting off sleep, while Sihtric's mind raced, piecing together the night's unexpected twists.
The dim lighting of the apartment complex hallway cast elongated shadows as Sihtric tried to guide you up the stairs. But with every step, it became more apparent that the task was not going to be easy. Your laughter, interspersed with hiccups and mumbled comments about your ex-boyfriend, echoed in the quiet corridor. And then, without warning, your laughter turned into soft sobs.
Sihtric, concerned, looked down to find tears streaming down your face. "Hey, hey," he tried to console, "Husch, it's okay."
"I just can't believe he... he..." you hiccupped, struggling to find words, the hurt evident in your eyes.
Seeing you in this state and realising that climbing the stairs in your condition would be an ordeal, Sihtric made a quick decision. Gently, he swept you up in his arms. It wasn't about your weight but more the electric jolt from the closeness, that sudden rush of intimacy that had his heart doing flips in his chest. Instead of pushing him away, you snuggled deeper into his embrace, your head finding its natural resting place on his shoulder.
Feeling your soft breaths against his neck and the gentle grip of your fingers, he had to fight to keep his balance. The ticklish sensation of your hair brushing against his cheek, your soothing breathing rhythm, and the lingering scent of your perfume all combined to form a heady mix that sent his head spinning. Every part of him was hyper-aware of you, so close and real, making everything else fade into the background.
Managing to unlock his apartment door, he stepped inside and gently placed you on his bed. "Just... just stay here for a second," he whispered, moving quickly to rummage through his closet for spare sheets and blankets for the couch.
But when he turned back, the gentle sounds of your breathing told him you'd already drifted off to sleep. For a moment Sihtric stood frozen, absorbing the sight before him - the serene rise and fall of your breath, the way the dim light from the street painted your face in soft shades. It was a moment of quiet beauty. Your hair splayed out, lips slightly parted, lashes casting shadows—everything about you in this moment felt so intimate, personal. It was a sight he'd never imagined he'd witness.
Despite the unexpected turn the evening had taken, a warm feeling settled in his chest. He carefully removed your shoes and tucked you in, making sure you were comfortable. And this time he gave in to his urge to brush a strand of hair away from your face, his fingers lingering on your cheek for a moment, silently wishing he could be the rock you leaned on, the one to chase away any sadness. In his heart, he knew he'd move mountains just to keep you from any pain. You deserved nothing but happiness, and the thought of someone causing you heartache infuriated him.
With you sleeping soundly, he settled on the couch, wrapping himself in the cosiness of blankets. As sleep claimed him, a dreamy smile played on his lips—a dream where he was your hero.
