Overprotective brother
(Seperate) Vice housewardens + Ruggie x reader
You and your brother were both transported into night raven collage. Safe to say your brother does his very best to thwart away any suiters. But what happens when he discovers that you were in love with someone and that said person tries to win your brother over? Will he give them their blessings?
Tumblr media
-Listen, your brother loves Trey.
-He’s just being in denial that someone like him could take away his little sibling.
-so your brother does his best to find anything bad about Trey
-He gave up because he couldn’t find anything bad or vile about him. In fact your brother commented that he’s a perfect househusband.
-you became a blushing mess with what he said but hey it means your brother likes Trey because he complimented him right?
-Anyway Trey knew about how your brother tried to find some sorts of flaws in him. you told him
-You decided to tell Trey that your brother is fond of pastries and he decided to make something for brother.
-Your brother was suspicious on why Trey decided to make a tart for him.
-Tsk. Do you really think your brother can be easily won over by his baking-
-.......
-It was actually delicious.
-What’s this? Your brother suddenly ate six pieces of tarts.
“You know what Trey you can happily marry my sibling in the future, I wouldn’t mind”
“I’m glad to have your blessing then. I promise to take care of them well“
“Yes yes take care of me as well too.“
-Your brother just won the jackpot if he can’t cook, he’ll have a brother -in-law who can cook for him and his sibling.
Tumblr media
-Your brother is trying to process things because he could've sworn he saw the said boy you like just eat a dandelion of the ground-
-is he okay?
-starts to get on another level of skeptical once you explained the incident that happened at Magical shift
-was going to outwardly reject the idea of both of you being in a relationship
-but after seeing how Ruggie acted differently when around you made his resolution waver
-After knowing how ruggie doesn’t only care about himself and is willing to try his best to support his family and everyone else back in his hometown almost led him to tears
-but instead of feeling pity for the guy he felt admiration for all the hardship he had to go through
-is also impressed to know he can cook and do household chores (you can thank that lazy azz leona for that-)
-it took awhile for him to accept but in the end he did, and now you have to deal with both of them being troublemakers for you
well sure ruggie would be rusty at the start of a relationship, but once he's able to see you as someone who isn't just giving him a relationship to gain something in return, he'll be willing to steal the whole world for you if needed be<33
Tumblr media
-Why must you date one of the scariest guys in NRC?
-for real though your brother is terrified and intimidated by Jade.
-You must really love giving your brother a heart attack- No Jade stop smiling at him like that you don’t want to kill your significant other’s brother right??
-Haiyaaa he really needs to talk some sense into you.
-Still despite Jade’s menacing aura, scary smile, and how shady he is. Jade really treats you well.
-Your brother’s standards aren’t really high as long as they treat you properly like a gentleman then he’ll approve.
-And Jade’s the epitome of gentleman.
-Still you must have a death wish or somethi-
“Uwah it’s shrimpy’s brother~“
“You- stay far away from me- Don’t chase me- y/n help me damn it!“
-You know what Jade’s twin brother Floyd is much more scarier to him.
-He feels threatened every time Floyd says how squeezable he his.
“You know what Jade I approve of your relationship just please stop your brother from squeezing me to death!“
“Oya oya you hear that Y/n? I finally got your brother’s approval.“
Tumblr media
-Your brother didn’t like Jamil after what transpired at Scrabia.
-your brother would always be by your side if Jamil’s near the vicinity.
-He’ll admit that Jamil is also househusband material due to how experienced he is.
-you know cooking, will serve you well, etc.
-But still your brother is suspicious of him.
-Jamil knew that of course, you said that its his way to look out for you due to how you're his only sibling.
-He understands your brother’s feelings as well seeing as he also plays the brother role.
-One time Jamil and your brother had an encounter with each other alone. He told your sibling that time that you deserved better than him.
-Your brother asked him why but Jamil’s answer shocked him.
“Unlike me, Kalim he could offer everything your sibling wants. I am merely a servant of the Asim family and could burden her.”
-Your brother decided to comfort him.
“Listen, my sibling chose you instead of Kalim because she sees something in you that Kalim doesn’t have. Besides, they aren’t ones to fall for someone because of their ranks rather, they much prefer hardworking people.“
-After that conversation, the two of them started to get along and you were happy.
-Because your sibling just allowed Jamil to court you right?
Tumblr media
-your brother seriously questions your taste.
-Then you remind him he has horrible taste for girls as well which makes him flustered.
-But in all seriousness why would you want that man to court you?
-Rook knows about your brother's obvious dislike for him, you comforted him about it and he said that he wasn't at all offended and it fuels him to get your sibling's approval
-thus the start of hunting for your brother's approval
-pestering him, stalking him, annoying him, etc. Leona was grateful that Rook was not bothering him anymore, no he didn't feel sorry for your brother.
-Your sibling was greatly annoyed while you being the menace of a little sibling laughed at his suffering but also told him to get along with him for his little sibling's sake.
How did Rook get your brother’s approval?
- Well your brother witnessed one time how lovey-dovey you two are and was annoyed.
-but then he noticed how bright you've smiled while being with Rook.
-he also noticed that he genuinely cares about you via the love poems Rook would recite or write to you.
-And honestly, he was happy that you've found someone who'd care for you like that.
-So the next day when Rook pesters him again your brother told him that he got his approval to date you and accept him in the family.
-Rook was happy that all of his hard work paid of, you were happy as well that your brother finally accepted him
-Although that didn't stop him from annoying your brother and him doing his best not to pop a blood vessel.
-Your brother and Leona does their best to hide away from Rook <33
Tumblr media
-Why... Why does your brother even try to thwart of Lilia at this point.
--Your brother could only get heart attacks when Lilia greets him via being upside down
-Lilia tried to cook for him since you recommended that your brother loves eating food.
"What's this?"
"It's your favorite food your sibling told me"
"I-is it now?"
-your brother will admit though he's impressed with Lilia's vast knowledge and how wise he is
-he then remembers that he's lived for many years
-After a LOT of coaxing, your brother eventually accepts him
-although, you'll never find him taking another taste of his cooking unless he wanted to end his life right then and there
"tsk I've only accepted you in dating my sibling because you somewhat met my standards."
"OHO? If that's the case then shouldn't you address me properly?~"
"What on earth do you mean?"
"You know that I'm older than you right?~"
"Yes what about it?"
"Heh- you may call me Big. Brother. Lillia~"
"Yeah no old man"
Starts to rethink everything because apparently his whole lives preparation led him to having a vampire grandpa as a soon to be brother in law 🦇

country bumpkin merlin not knowing anything about city life and accidentally courting arthur without knowing
merlin, watching gwen give lancelot her favor: why do you do that
gwen, heart eyes at lance and not paying that much attention to the conversation: so he knows i’m rooting for him
merlin, with an Idea: ah.
gwaine, lover of chaos, pisser offer of nobles and royals alike, ultimate wingman: merlin…you have such lonely lips. shall i introduce them to mine?
merlin, unaware of the game gwaine is playing: so you can steal my breath away? i think not, scoundrel
arthur, crushing his goblet in his hand:
merlin: arthur’s been in a bad mood recently :( i should cheer him up
merlin, remembering when arthur was put out when merlin brought morgana flowers and not him: i know just the thing
merlin, bringing a bouquet of carnations, roses, and tulips and setting them on arthur’s table while he’s eating breakfast: good morning, sire
arthur, trained on flower language in hopes that one day when he was to take a queen he could woo her easily, trying not to audibly choke on his sausage as he reads merlin’s declaration of love sitting in front of him:
arthur, who recently found out about merlin’s magic and was trying to find a way to bring it up, catching him in the act and watching merlin panic to explain himself:
merlin, Freaking: and i swear to you arthur, i have only ever used it for you. my magic is yours. my life is yours. i am yours. i would never do anything to harm you. i have protected you for years and will continue to do so at your side if you’ll have me
arthur, already believing them to be courting, desperately trying to figure out if that was a proposal for marriage or not but tired of being confused and deciding fuck it: here.
merlin, taking it: i…uh…huh?
arthur, watching merlin with hawk eyes and trying to figure out what he’s thinking and feeling: it’s my mothers sigil
merlin, confused as FUCK but is focusing on the fact that arthur is handing him something of his mother rather than a death sentence: my…my lord?
arthur, realizing how scared merlin’s must be about him finding out about his magic and trying to comfort him while also proposing, killing two birds with one stone: i will always keep you at my side, merlin, so long as we both shall live. if you’ll allow me.
merlin, almost collapsing with relief and tearing up, smiling at arthur as if he had parted the storm clouds to allow sun to shine down on them in that moment: of course…of course, arthur. always and forever.
merlin, watching the castle staff rush this way and that: wow. this banquet must be incredibly important
sir leon the long suffering, day one ride or die, one of the original merthur shippers: banquet? merlin, this is for your wedding
merlin, overworked and exhausted: my WHAT? to WHO??
leon, regretting everything he’s ever done in his life that led him to this moment: to…arthur?
merlin, over joyed but also absolutely befuddled: i’m getting married to ARTHUR?????
leon: you two have been courting for the past year or so, have you not?
merlin: i’ve been COURTING ARTHUR?????? FOR A YEAR?????????

merlin rewrite where gwen finds out about merlins magic in s1. so gwen is always there with him whenever something magical happens. also merlin finally has good advice from gwen instead of just gauis and the gecko. gwen also just does things for him no questions asked.
like merlin shows up at her doorstep dripping wet talking about a serial killing merman, and she just goes and brings out a sword and says ok lets go. merlin wasn't even there to ask her to fight but at this point he'll get all the assistance he can get.
everyone in the castle thinks they're dating cause they're always together. and they both go along with it cause it gives them an excuse to wander the town or castle alone whenever theres a magical threat.
arthur finds them in an abandoned room making a salt circle and burning herbs in a bowl and they just go "we're on a date" and "this is how commoners have a romantic date arthur, you wouldn't understand".

Changes to BBC Merlin that I think would make it better:
note: these aren’t necessarily all in the same au timeline but even one of them could’ve made it better
When Merlin asks Gwen for a sword she gives him the best one she ever made, not her father, so she and Merlin together forged Excalibur
Gwen is knighted alongside the others in the Round table
Merlin is officially recognized as the Court physician’s Apprentice rather than becoming Arthur’s servant (Why do you call him an idiot? By Yvion on Ao3 proves this)
In the scenario that Merthur happens, and Merlin’s the ‘queen’ and/or court Sorcerer, Gwen should be the next Court Physician
Or she’s with Lancelot and she becomes the next court physician, I just think she’d be good at it and it would give her a reason to have a seat of the council in the case that she’s not queen
Lancelot doesn’t fucking die
Arthur learns of Merlin’s magic during the Sigan fight and comes to terms with it on his own
Merlin doesn’t know his destiny (y’know… like the intro of the show literally says over and over again…) so he’s actually just listening to his own heart when he makes decisions and doesn’t have crippling anxiety from holding the weight of the world on his shoulders alone the entire show
More Gwen and Merlin bestie shenanigans before and after either one of them becomes queen
Gwen finds out about Merlin’s magic sometime in season 1
Merlin ignores Gaius and Kilgarrah and tells Morgana about his magic and they’re cool magic besties
Arthur doesn’t fucking die 3 seconds after finding out
Any of Arthur’s character development sticks for more than an episode
Arthur actually catches on to the fact that Merlin is usually right when it comes to danger or judging people by Lancelot’s episode
Gaius actually listens to Merlin instead of immediately shutting down his ideas even tho they usually turn out to be right later on
More Round Table
Morgana’s turn to being evil doesn’t happen completely off screen and she shows some kind of hesitation in harming Gwen, Arthur, and the townspeople even after she’s evil because seriously what the fuck was that
We get several episodes completely from Arthur’s point of view that show Merlin looking absolutely unhinged with absolutely no context followed by the episode from Merlin’s point of view where everything he does looks completely reasonable
I can and will elaborate on any of these if you ask

merlin. 🫶 who to most of camelot was just a servant. but who was the most devoted and loyal of any person in the royal household. who had immense power, power to destroy, power to seek revenge. who instead used it to conjure butterflies, save the innocent, and work alongside a man who should have been his sworn enemy to build a better, more hopeful world.
arthur. 🫶 who was the son of a tyrant. who was arrogant and conceited. who was born of immense love, and immense sacrifice, and yet had never been looked at like he mattered, until said servant came along and gave him the chance to realise how deeply he wanted to CARE. who became the head of a kingdom built on violence and pain. who became merciful and gentle and HUMBLE to a fault. who fell in love with a man who should have been his sworn enemy, and by his side, tried to build a better, kinder world.
bbcs merlin is a show for the misunderstood. which happens to be all of us. we all have parts of ourselves we hide away, because we can’t or won’t let anyone see, or because we haven’t yet realised their presence within ourselves. we are human. ever-changing. constantly misunderstood, by ourselves and others. and yet we are always redeemable if we choose to be. the characters of bbcs merlin are excellent because they are too.
merlin. arthur. gwen. morgana. gwaine. lancelot. <3

Merlin thought he was enough.
He thought he was enough to defend his mother from the bandits but in the end it was his mother who defended him by sending him to Camelot.
He thought he was enough for Freya and that they could live happily together, away from Camelot, but he could not save her.
He thought he was enough to help Morgana but cowardice prevailed and he failed to save her.
He thought he was enough for Gilly, Taliesin, Iseldir and all his people but he failed.
He thought he was enough for Arthur, but Arthur chose Gwen.
He thought he was enough to help Arthur forge a new destiny and unite all of Albion and remove the ban on magic on Camelot, but Arthur died and none of this was done.
Merlin once thought he was enough.
Now Merlin knows he never was.

to make changes to a story or to criticize it you have to first understand and respect it. arthurian legend exists on a wide spectrum the scope of which cannot be overstated. that’s not an excuse. try to interpret the deeper themes behind the layers of sometimes uncomfortable medieval subject matter anyway.
insofar as retellings go, merlin characterization varies wildly and i like many of them—from mary stewart’s asexual sweet thoughtful dad type to t. h. white’s silly weirdo old man to phyllis ann karr’s creepy inhuman predator type. i just need to be narratively convinced of it.
the movie sword of lancelot (1963) had a dagonet that told fun rhymes and offered worldly advice. king arthur (2004) dagonet was a stoic warrior with two lines of dialogue in the entire film and didn’t smile once. guess which film understood the material it drew from better and utilized the character in a meaningful way.
comprehension and respect is what sets john boorman’s excalibur (1981) at the top and leaves cursed (2020) wallowing at the bottom of the barrel. i’m not watching bc i heard the legendary sword excalibur was going to be on screen—i’m watching bc i want to become emotionally invested in a cleverly written character with lofty goals and interesting flaws wielding it. i want to root for them, imperfect though they be. but their faults have to be an intentional and thoughtful writing choice, not a result of poor planning on the creator’s part, and not an attempt to “fix” the medieval material and market to as broad an audience as possible. great king bad husband arthur succeeds where girlboss nimue fails.
i don’t want arthurian legend to suffer as greek mythology has suffered. i don’t want any of it watered down for modern sensibilities but neither do i want game of thrones 2. i don’t claim to be the final judge of what a “good” or “bad” arthurian adaptation is by any means. i like all of them! but i have read enough medieval literature and modern retellings and watched every film and show and documentary on the subject i can find, so i’m coming from that angle when i say a successful adaptation of medieval stories should act as a continuation of tradition. that can only be achieved when one considers the merit of the story above all else. capitalism will try to strangle it but we can’t let that happen. palatability or edginess for the sake of being palatable or edgy has no place in mythology and literary tradition.
all good stories are balanced, and the only way to be balanced is to admire the original stories and appreciate them for what they are, products of their time though they may be, and determine what the most compelling story you can tell with that material is. then write it down without any agenda in mind. it’s an art, not a science. so in the wake of booktok trends and weaksauce fantasy adaptations the likes of witcher (2019) and rings of power (2022) created by people who don’t like or understand the source material besieging our feeds, let’s create something beautiful. go forth and make stuff. gay knights and gay rights.

Cat Merlin: [sleeping on Gwen's lap]
Cat Arthur: [tail swaying in irritation whilst staring up at Guinevere petting his Merlin]
Cat Merlin: [sensing his mate's ire, opens his eyes a slither to glance down at Arthur with a "get lost, I'm trying to sleep" look]
Cat Arthur: [meows angrily at Merlin]
Cat Merlin: [meows then yawns before meowing to Arthur to get lost once again]
Gwen: [giggling at her feline friends] Even as cats you both still argue a lot.

Question Merlin fans who read fanfiction!
When you’re reading a ship with a queer pairing that’s in the canon era (Medieval Camelot), do you prefer that the queer part of the relationship is acknowledged/delved into or do you prefer to have it treated like a relationship that would be more common and the story focuses more on the romance aspect than the queer romance aspect?

I saw this post the other day and haven’t been able to find it again, but it was basically saying that Lancelot and Merlin commit actually the stupidest identity fraud ever in 1x05 because given they had to make Lancelot a member of the nobility and went for making him part of a family with 4 sons already there was actually a pretty good chance one of them might have been at court or even a knight themselves who could have very easily been like “wtf you mean? I’ve never seen this guy before in my life?”
And while I think that’s a good point hear me out, the opposite happens.
The, IDK, 3rd son of Lord Whomever of the Place, finds out one day that his little brother is competing to be a knight. He thinks it’s weird they haven’t come to see him for advice since he’s already a knight, but little brothers can be touchy about making their own way so whatever. Then he actually sees Lancelot and does immediately realize “yeah okay. Not my brother.” And he’s totally prepped to tell someone about it, but then this guy claiming to be his little brother fights Arthur and absolutely kicks his ass.
That’s freaking impressive. No one ever does that (as we see in the episode) and it’s hilarious. 3rd son starts thinking maybe he just doesn’t have to tell anyone just yet….
Lancelot has his knighting ceremony and throughout the evening people keep congratulating Terry (that’s what I’m calling 3rd son now) and saying he must be super proud of his little brother and Terry just nods and smiles and generally emulated the Penguins of Madagascar and wondering how to get close enough to his “brother” to hash this out and maybe make a plan, but the man is surrounded by well wishers all evening and the Prince seems to have decided this guy is his best friend and is Lady Morganatic flirting??? So you leave it and figure you can wait until tomorrow…
Then the next morning when every Knight is still incredibly hungover The King makes you all show up to a special hearing about identity fraud and accuses this dude of being an imposter and Terry has literally never met him but being yelled at incredibly sucks and this guy has floppy hero hair and huge brown puppy eyes and he did pass all the knighting tests and Terry already has a ton of brothers and also he might still be a little drunk and before he knows it he’s out in the middle of the room going “Excuse me your majesty, but I think I would know best how many brothers I have. I must say I do not appreciate you yelling at my precious baby brother Linus-“
“Lancelot” The Prince’s man servant says on a cough.
“Lancelot,” Terry corrects. “Right. That’s what I meant.
And from that moment on just absolutely 110% commits to the lie that Lancelot is absolutely and completely his youngest brother and no he will not be taking questions at this time. He gets bros 1, 2, and 4 in on it. 1 just thinks it’s too late to course correct and thinks the family can maximize on Lancelot’s popularity and chooses that over endangering their reputation by now revealing Terry lied. 2 just thinks the whole thing is hilarious and 4 likes not being the youngest. Lord Whomever is about the Kings Age and is at that stage certain older people get to where they just don’t give a shit and are down for some chaos so he just absolutely perpetuates this whole thing.
The King asks him about it and the Lord is like “What do you mean suspicious. I absolutely and completely have a fifth son in his twenties. Lucious really does make us all so proud what with the Griffin slaying and all.”
“He claims his name is Lancelot.”
“My memory is going in my old age and I have 5 sons. You can’t expect me to keep all the names straight King Igor.”
“My name is Uthor.”
“Is it?”
And Lancelot just gets fully absorbed in to the family utterly without realizing it. He has no idea what it means to be in a family structure like this and he can’t stand how much danger he’s putting this family in and is just agonizing especially because he finds it so nice and then Terry is like “Pack a bag and put in for some leave. Our little sisters want to meet you and one has a birthday coming up.” And it’s soft and sweet and Lancelot let’s them put a flower crown on him which makes him the immediate favorite of the little girls and he gets to go to a real home sometimes and still meets Percival sometime in there and then all the other knights and Merlin and Gwen and Morgana have a family structure to rely on more extensive than just Gaius, less evil than Morgose, and more supportive than Uthor
And narratively Lancelot gets to be in all the episodes and doesn’t get killed off and he’s around for whatever romance dynamic you wanna put him in because I swear Santiago Cabrera could manage romantic chemistry with a brick wall if he had it for a scene partner so anything goes and it’s all because Terry the 3rd Son of Lord Eldridge of the House of Northumberland (all that might be wrong) decided to pull a Mandalorian before it was cool and do some on the spot freeform adoption

Hi I'm new here and I loved your writing, I really liked the stork, can I ask the boys' reaction to a very innocent S/what is an only child with an overprotective father? she's the only thing left of the mother so the father kind of prevents her from approaching the opposite sex and tries to preserve her innocence, it would be funny to see the dorm leaders (Jamil in Kalim's place, please) meet with her future father-in-law.
Yes flashbacks to those overprotective brother headcanons we wrote...
Also were changing the limit to the people we write so Jamil and the others will be on the second part.
Anyway overprotective brother/father supremacy.
Warnings: some spoilers, fem reader as per request of ask but I kept using You/your, bonus scenario
--------
This scenario could actually go in two ways. The first is if s/o and her father both arrive in NRC and both got dragged with the students shenanigans all the while s/o's father thwarting away any suiters. The second is where s/o's father got transported in NRC quite later where s/o already has a significant other, what would s/o's father do exactly?
Tumblr media
-Your father was already unhappy that you were both transported to NRC, but being dragged with the shenanigans of the school? He's going to have blood pressure!
-He was already suffering at the fact that you were friends with the Adeuce duo, always managing to get you into trouble.
-And with Riddle's oberblot? He had a heart attack!as what your father would put it but that was him being overly dramatic
-He dislikes Riddle's anger issues, which is why he vowed to himself to get you away from Riddle(but ofc that didn't work)
-And when your father heard Riddle caught feelings for you? And you also took an interest with Riddle? Boy he got another mini heart attack! He can't leave his precious child with the crimson tyrant now could he?
-Riddle knows how your father dislikes him due to his anger issues and obsession with rules, which is why he tried to tone it down a notch to gain your father's approval.
-If your father got transported later and you managed to have Riddle as your boyfriend then:
*sobs* "I can't believe I was too late to stop my darling daughter from keeping her innocence 🤧 "
-Your father is reluctant at first on getting along with your boyfriend, especially when he heard what transpired within Heartslabyul.
-Riddle invited your father to a private tea party to get along with each other, however your father turned it into an interrogation on Riddle.(Riddle was sobbing in the corner later telling Trey and Carter how he will not get your father's blessing to court you)
-Trey and Cater worried for their friend's well being helped him by either talking to your father about how "Riddle has change for the sake of your daughter."
-Many private tea parties later, they eventually got along making you quite happy.
-Your father saw how capable Riddle is on being a leader despite his flaws thus he allowed Riddle to court you.
-You three would have tea parties together ^^
-your father was still overprotective of you though, he warned him not to do anything to his dear daughter or he'll face his wrath.
Hmm... If you can tone down your anger issues then I'll happily give you my blessings.
Yes I've been working on that, and I believe I managed to hold in my 'anger issues' now.
Is that right? Alright then Shorty.
I am not short-
Yeah no you've got a long way to go child.
Tumblr media
-Your father didn't like him one bit, he keeps overthinking that Leona would eat you one day because of his nickname for you.
-Your father didn't like the fact that Leona was willing to harm people just for the sake of winning a game against Malleus.
-He also dislikes how lazy Leona is, as for Leona he Hates you father's constant nagging, it always messes up his afternoon nap!
-Leona would send Ruggie to distract your father so you can spend time with him^^
-However it back fired when your father managed to bribe Ruggie with food.
-Your father will probably provoke Leona to show his bad side, which doesn't work.
-You'll see a one sided bickering between them.
-It probably takes a while for these two to get along with eachother.
-Your father is still skeptical about Leona
-Your father likes how Leona respects women though, that's what made your father try to get along with Leona. Respect women Juice
- Occasionally Leona and your father would play chess together and the loser would have to follow what the winner says
Tumblr media
-Your father was impressed with Azul being a business man
-however he greatly despises his manipulative personality, as well as how he scams people with his contracts. your father was fuming at him when you willingly accepted his deal in hopes to save your friends
-When Azul caught feelings feelings for you, he tried to win your father on permission to court you at first.
-But no matter what he does it seems like your father did not want you to get close with him.
-Which is why the two of you secretly hang out, since your curious on how he managed to became a successful owner of monstero lounge
-When your father discovered you two hanging out secretly, he merely sighed your father understands why you'd keep your hangout a secret because he was overprotective worried about you but he glared at Azul though
"Fine I'll allow you to court my daughter, if you hurt her I swear-"
"Oh? And what about a marriage contract?"
"Then I'm having an octopus dinner🙂"
"hahaha..."
-If your father got transported later to where both you and Azul are dating- oh he's a business man you say? Wait. What do you mean he has two scary gaurds? And- And he tried to scam his daughter!?
-Big no no for your father. He tried to do what ever it takes to make you stay away from him.
-Azul knew what your father was planning, that's why he tried to make a contract with him that he promises to take care of you (plus a discount in montro lounge) in exchange all he needs is to allow him to court yo- oh, your father ripped the contract
-Thus Azul sent the leech twins to distract your father convince your father that Azul is a changed man.
-So Azul and your father were forced to get along with each other, and they always bicker.
-In your perspective it's quite funny to see the two of them bicker
-Every time your Azul got his ways with hanging out with you, he'd eat an octopus dish in front of him!(Where he got it? You don't even know)
-However like Riddle they slowly got along but their bickering is still there
-In conclusion your father radiates a passive aggressive aura around Azul but other than that they get along and talk about buisness.
Bonus:
If you hc that Crewel is a father figure to Yuu then your in luck! They could get along quite nicely!
Keyword on could.
If Crewel see's y/n as their child then your father and Crewel would get a rivalry of who's the better father.(If you also hc Crowley as a father figure and see Yuu as his child as well then shit is about to go down)
One thing is clear though these two three if you count Crowley will not hesitate to work together if it means preserving their dear daughter's innocence.

50. Writer's preference - "And what if it is not you?"
The barb stung and Arthur turned away as quickly as if she had struck him.
These walks had become something of a tradition between the Prince and former Princess over the rolling weeks. With the out of doors near unpassable, Arthur's mornings had shifted to a shorter indoor practice before dawn, followed by a brief repast and then a stroll through the Orangery with the Lady Aria. Though they still argued as often as they didn't, there was something free and flowing in these conversations -- a strange sense that no subject was off limits...And that every single one was somehow taboo. It was perhaps true that they had each been raised as royalty, but it seemed their worlds could not have been more different.
Today, the subject had fallen to that all-encompassing theme of his life, the most pressing topic in the empire, and the one least likely ever to be openly addressed: Roderick's line of succession. It was an ache in his gut, this, a hill he had run up all his childhood only to find a sheer rockface confronting him. Now, scrambling for footholds in the brutal cliffside, it was a race to the top against those he loved most -- a climb now far too high to risk the drop. It was success or the death of all meaning. But what was he to do? Throw his siblings from the sides? They too held on by meager fingertips and he could not bear to think of them dashed against the teeth of the unforgiving stone so far below.
Arthur's jaw clenched. He kept her pace, but he no longer looked at her as she spoke; heard her only as if from a great distance. What was there to say? Yet, her last words burned, searing like vinegar in his cuts, and he turned sharply towards her, a rush sounding in his head.
"What? You favor someone else?" he demanded, all effort at bluster or calm stripped away. Surprise seemed to register in his face and, pressing his eyes shut, he shook his head, realizing she meant this only as rhetoric and, with a look of defeat, he sighed; shook his head. "How should I know? It would be the end for me."
He didn't look at her, now, gaze straying upwards towards the gently nodding trees, branches heavy and sagging with fruit. He thought of the tart-sweet of them, tawny and opening with a kind of crack. Fibrous chambers of juice attended the tiny seeds at the center and this, then, was life. Even trees limned their children with sweet cushions against the harsh reality of the world around them. When he laughed, it was a bitter sound.
Sighing, Arthur shook his head. "Aria, I--" but he stopped. He'd not said her name so baldly before and he gestured, helpless, voice trapped within his throat.
Her eyes were dark: not mere chocolate, but something else as if the sea had leaked into them and tossed against stormy shores within her mind. Her face was set, but he could not read it. He searched for something written there, something designed for him to read: he wanted it. He knew the message he wished to read. A very simple message. He wanted to read it again and again, see it roiling within the storm of her eyes. But there was nothing. She was no harbor. She was, perhaps, another deathly drop.
Aria lifted her chin. "Go on."
"I don't know what will happen if my father chooses someone else any more than you do. But I do know I will be a threat to whoever is chosen, simply for having been in the running, and..."
And if it were Edmund who were selected, whom Arthur regarded as the most likely alternative, he would not expect to long outlive his father -- or even his father's choice. Enemies of the House of Calainon had a way of disappearing. Arthur was not altogether certain they even lifted a finger: they were witches, after all. Likely, all they needed do was wish for a thing, and their dark magic did the rest. Edmund might not wish him gone, perhaps...but Amira would not hesitate. He could not help but think that would make for a horrible ending, all the demons of hell rising at her command. His would be a silent end, he had no doubt, yet he knew, too, that if it were by Amira's hand, he would die howling.
If Aria had said something else, Arthur had not heard it. At last, she said: "And what if the Emperor doesn't choose? What happens to us all, then?"
Arthur stopped short, and Aria beside him. "Then it'd be war."
He walked out without another word.

will never get over how much genuine trust and stability Gwen and Arthur afforded each other in their relationship even before they were married
the parallel from ‘Castle of Fyrien’ and ‘Lamia’ is my favorite
from Merlin having to persuade Gwen to tell Arthur about what was troubling her, and Arthur immediately soothing her worries with “You did the right thing. Your brother will come to no harm I promise.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and after the whole ordeal, when Gwen summons the courage to thank him, still burdened by the fact why he went to so many pains to help her, he quietly reassures her with her own words:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
just like he had in ‘Queen of Hearts’- Arthur is quick to remind Gwen that he would give his love, pains and life for her, endlessly and without a second thought.
and then in s4 when the two are on much steadier ground, content in the future they want together and within Camelot.
when Gwen finds Mary distressed and terrified at her door, she immediately runs to the only person she knows can steady her every worry: Arthur (who just so happens to be the King and has every resource at his disposal but that’s a plus 🤭)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
arwen are in their element here, co-ruling and alleviating their people’s troubles, even before Gwen had ascended the throne.
Their relationship is built on trust and never faltered, it’s built on Arthur’s small glances in Gwen’s direction to ensure he’s doing the right thing, and her soft touches at his side. It’s present every time Gwen worries she’s bringing him trouble, borne from a self-realiance she learned early, and his easy smiles when he patiently reminds her that her worries are all he cares about, and nothing could be insurmountable when it came to them, facing it together 💗

Slightly going insane from my BAMF Gwen characterization in the julius caesar au My breaths are run by your compass. Like. girl I would willingly lay my own kingdom down your feet if I had one
“I just don’t get you, Arthur,” Gwen replied offhandedly, cutting with her words too close to what Arthur didn’t want anyone to know. “You finally get a chance for a new beginning, for a way to have him fully after all these years of yearning, and you just leave him in Gwaine’s arms?”
fuck.

How Sir Lancelot met with King Arthur and Sir Gawain, and how war was decided.
1522 words
“Which of you did it?”
The hall went silent. The drab colors of a dove make the thing blend into the background. Perfectly still, break the silhouette, it becomes just another piece of noise. Gawain, in plain clothes, without his armor or family colors, was pulling off a similar effect. Like a nervous bird, he twitched in place, cocked his head. Lancelot would have thought he was nervous, that is, if his eyes weren’t so deadly focused.
Arthur, to his credit, cleared his throat, seeming to regret taking the man with him. Tensions were high enough, what with his former champion and wife sitting across the table. “Gawain, this isn’t for-”
“I want to know,” Gawain cut him off. The fire crackled, a log fell sending a gust of embers up into the air. The damned castle just wouldn’t get warm. Lancelot had done all he could and still, the cold seemed to leak through every stone.
Was Joyous Gard ever befitting of its name? Perhaps once. Perhaps Lancelot would be too young to remember. Had Arthur ever been here in its heyday? Did he sit at Lancelot’s father’s table, share a story and good food and drink? Did Gawain? Young, reckless, brimming with energy that time hadn’t quite tempered but reshaped into something versatile and sharp. A hook that Lancelot felt in his heart now, Gawain’s eyes hadn’t left him since he had arrived.
Lionel’s hand was on his sword. For all Lancelot’s pleading, he would not be persuaded to maintain the illusion of a peaceful meeting. Bors had conceded to him, but said he would be looking for the first sign of trouble.
“At the very least, I will protect your queen.”
Yes. A queen of very little now, but Lancelot’s queen always and forever. Lancelot and his kin finally stepped into their long-neglected kingships, and the phrase King Lancelot seemed foreign on his tongue. At the very least Arthur looked uncomfortable saying it.
“I want to know which of you killed my brothers,” Gawain repeated, was never one to back down.
“Does that really matter?” Arthur’s voice rang hollow now. The years were starting to catch up to him.
“I think it matters.” Gawain looked at Guinevere, Bors, Lionel, Lancelot. “I think my brothers were about the only thing in the world that mattered and I want to know which of you killed them. I want to know whose sword, whose hands.”
“Mine.” Lancelot spoke before Lionel could stop him, “Gawain- I’m sorry. If I had recognized them I wouldn’t have.”
“If you had recognized them it wouldn’t have mattered.” Gawain hissed, “Brave Sir Lancelot, dear agent of chivalry, my little Gareth would never raise a sword against you. I know he didn’t.”
Lancelot didn’t look at Bors, but he felt his eyes on him. The whole event was a blur, Lancelot honestly couldn't remember a thing. Bors had told him that the boy had nearly cut his arm off and Bors defended himself. This was just before he had informed him that he was dead.
Lancelot didn’t care if he believed him. Gareth was dead regardless.
Arthur seemed to be losing hope that this diplomatic mission would do anything to prevent outright war. He let Gawain speak.
“Agravain hated you, Lancelot, I suppose you took your revenge on him. Or was it one of your kin? Indeed, I imagine neither of them have hands as unclean as yours.” Gawain’s eyes landed on Guinevere, “And all this for you, my lady. I pray to God nobody ever loves me that much.”
Guinevere looked him dead on. Lancelot hoped it was just nerves making his heart beat that way.
“You’ll turn to war, prince of Orkney? Gawain, people are going to die.” She said.
He opened his mouth to respond. Arthur stepped in, seeming relieved to get a word in edgewise, “I fail to see any other option. You kill my kin, steal my wife, I would be a fool not to respond.”
“We have nothing to offer you in recompense.” Lionel spoke up, “Everything we had was yours. Everything we have now I would rather not give up, especially if you can’t keep your nephew on a leash.”
Gawain snarled, pushing his chair back from the table, “You’re happy to say that armed, aren’t you?”
Lionel shrugged and didn't waver. Despite years of bad blood between the two men, Lionel was one of the few people Gawain could never manage to faze. Lancelot respected him for it.
“We’re in exile.” Bors said, “Surely that’s enough. We’ll never bother you again.”
“And l just go home and tell my baby brother that our family died for nothing?” Gawain was shaking, Lancelot had never seen him so unraveled. “Damn you all. I’ll see you on the field. This doesn’t end until one of us is dead, Lancelot.”
He stormed out of the room, knocking over a chair and slamming the door as he left. Lancelot knew he wouldn’t wait for anyone, would mount Gringolet and be halfway back to Camelot in a day. He would begin rallying the troops, his golden tongue wouldn’t fail him there, and by the time Arthur returned the decision would have been made.
What a farce. War was certain the moment Guinevere was put at the stake.
Arthur just sat, looking down at the table. He hadn’t flinched when Gawain stood. He was not even particularly bothered by the way the decision had been made; waves of fate just swept him this way and that. No amount of plotting could prevent providence. The waves had delivered Mordred to safety long ago.
“Arthur, are you alright?” Guinevere asked, her face softened.
“I was just thinking how long it’s been since outright war.” Arthur said, gesturing to the empty space Gawain left behind, “How last time I was only a child. Allied with your fathers, against his. Old Bors and Ban, I pray they don’t see us now.”
“Has it really come to this?” Lancelot asked. He wasn’t expecting an answer. Hector would be finished taking inventory in an hour, the letters would be sent out, alliances made, and resources collected. Lancelot would lead his men into battle and hopefully never meet Arthur’s eyes again.
“I pray I don’t see you out there.” Arthur said, thinking the same way. “I pray if we must die, it would be a stray arrow, a squire’s javelin. I’m too old and tired to fight a former friend.”
“I don’t want to fight Gawain.” Lancelot said, thinking of the sword he had left in his room. He knew Gawain was well aware of the inscription on the hilt. Based on how he was acting, he didn’t seem to care.
“I know you love him.”
“Of course I love him.” Lancelot said, “Most of us in this room love him.”
“It’s remarkable,” Bors said, leaning back, “That you should continue loving one who hates you so grievously.”
“No amount of hate could make me stop loving him.”
The streams of Logres rushed by, interrupted by the striking of hooves. A still lake’s surface rippled. Waves at Orkney’s shore beat on. Somewhere, Rome was falling. Morgause’s two remaining sons would be deputies, and war would be at France’s borders in a matter of days. For all Lancelot knew, Mordred was already preparing.
Arthur finally stood, like an old, brittle tree, he had been hollowed out, but would quietly wait for his final storm. He looked to Guinevere, she looked back at him.
“I won’t be seeing you again.” He said, “You were a good queen.”
“But not a good wife. You were a good friend.” She replied.
Arthur smiled drily. “Lancelot, you would do well to take her advice. She knows the field well. I will miss having her as counsel.”
Once upon a time, Guinevere had been raised to be a king too. It was easy to forget until her expertise was needed.
“I have preparations to make. I’ll need to fill your seats at the table.” Arthur thought out loud, before wincing. The irony of having to take his pick from the Queen’s Knights wasn’t lost on him.
He left without another word. Seems the time for courtly pleasantries is finally over.
Bors touched Lancelot’s shoulder until he looked at him, “Do you think he hates us?”
Lionel snorted, “He has every reason to.”
“He just seemed- well he’s an odd sort.”
“It doesn’t really matter.”
“He does.” Guinevere broke in. “He’s never been the type to show it.”
“Not like Gawain.” Lionel said, “He’s going to give us trouble, that witch’s son.”
“He’s not going to poison us.” Lancelot said, “He would want to fight me.”
Bors frowned, “Even though he knows-”
“It doesn’t matter to him whether he lives or dies.” Lionel’s eyes widened in realization, “Dear lord.”
Leagues away, Gawain was riding. The scar at the back of his neck ached. It might be time to retire the sword and return to his weapon of choice; take the green axe off the mantle. To hell with what it symbolized, Gawain wanted something heavy. Besides, shame and pride mean nothing to a dead man.

Want to share an excerpt from one of my wips for no reason Pt 6:
"Thank you." He did a mock bow with a wave of his hand, making Gwen roll her eyes. "Since our job's done here, let's go set something on fire, Merlin."
"Uh, maybe not set something on fire?" Gwen quickly interrupted with a frown.
"I'm on Gwen with this one," Merlin said apologetically.
"But Merlin! We haven't set anything on fire this past two weeks!"
Merlin winced. "Actually… Lancelot and I already set something on fire."
Gwaine pouted with resentment. "Oh, sorry. I should have known that you preferred Lancelot over me."
"I don't! I like you both equally."
Gwaine turned away from him, crossing his arms.
Merlin shared an exasperated look with Gwen. "Look," Merlin said. "We didn't actually mean to set anything on fire. So you really can't base your statement over that."
Gwaine turned back to him with glee. "So does that mean you still haven't intentionally set anything else on fire after we burned that old lord's whole underwear drawer two weeks ago?"
"I suppose so."
Gwaine snapped his fingers. "That's it. We're going to set something on fire."
"No, you are not." Gwen put her foot down. "That's an order from your future queen. Arthur is stressed enough as it is about that rumor about Morgana being sighted without you two adding arson to the mix."
