WIP Snip

Thank you @mallstars @stationintern and also @squintclover - I was writing so many fest submissions, I had no snippets I was allowed to share. But now I have (finally) returned to my Founder's era WIP! Here's a snippet:

Salazar sighed. “You heard Master Oswin: there’s nothing we can do.” “That’s not what he said,” Godric disagreed. “He said there’s nothing he can do. He didn’t say anything about us.” “What in the world would we be able to do?” Salazar said. He really wished Godric would just accept the facts. After all, it was him who had put the pieces together, why was he now trying to deny the consequences? “Well,” Godric said, pausing his pacing to stare thoughtfully at a spiderweb in the rafters. “How hard can it be to steal a couple of books?” Salazar looked at him incredulously. “Are you out of your mind?”

Like I did with the moral alignments, I thought I would make a post about why and how I sort characters into Hogwarts Houses! There are also quizzes so you can figure it out for yourself as well. I go into detail about each House, what they represent, their background and what it means to be sorted into a certain House.

*just because I’m talking about Harry Potter doesn’t mean I align with the transphobic views of J.K. Rowling. There is no room for transphobia on my page, and I support the trans and LGBTQIA+ community*

Figuring out which Hogwarts House you belong to has been around since the HP series came out. But I think there’s more to it than simply choosing to be in ‘the brave house’ or ‘the smart house.’ I think it reveals a lot about a person - or rather, a large aspect.

Here are a few tests for you to try, comment below what you got!

Test 3 (Here’s the full Pottermore quiz. The 1st quiz will only have a few questions, so that’s why I don’t think it’s fully accurate to take)

Wanting to see Helena before she died, Rowena sent a man to bring Helena home. Unfortunately, that man was the Bloody Baron, who was in love with Helena, and stabbed her in a rage when she refused to come home.

After Helena was tragically killed, legend tells us that Rowena Ravenclaw died of a broken heart.

Headcanon time!

Rowena Ravenclaw agreed (to an extent) with Salazar Slytherin.

I personally don’t think Slytherin was a cold blooded murdering psycho. Given the other founders would agree to start a school with him.

His story was written that way bc J.K. Rowling (🤮) needed to further the “villain” house so there was opposition with her super awesome courageous hero and his super awesome amazing brave courage house. 😐

Hogwarts was founded at a time when wizards were being persecuted. Slytherin had a deep mistrust of muggles due to trauma.

Rowena, understood this and agreed that it may not be a safe and smart idea to admit muggle-borns at this time.

Godric Gryffindor however, in true Gryffindor fashion, wanted to raise students to be brave strong warriors who achieve “eternal glory” and in his hubris, (or extreme confidence in his abilities,) doesn’t see the danger.

Think of it. A muggle born wizard, part of an extremely anti-magic family, gets their Hogwarts letter. Their parents see this as an opportunity to infiltrate and take down Hogwarts from the inside.

When Slytherin decided to leave the school, Rowena chose to stay as she valued raising the next generation of wise and witty wizards, as well as her friendships with the other founders, but she was wise enough to understand the risks.

I can see the perspective of, “well then, explain the Chamber of Secrets if Slytherin wasn’t a bad guy”

Should Hogwarts have been attacked, what better weapon than a giant snake who can kill with a single look, and can only be controlled by one of the professors?

Slytherin may have been quite morally ambiguous, but I don’t believe he was deeply rooted in evil. Only caution for that which he cared for.

Rowena Ravenclaw wasn’t stupid. She understood what he had to say, but didn’t leave the school as she trusted her abilities and the other founders.

The prospect of having multiple cultures and different backgrounds with their own type of wisdom and knowledge was worth it for her.

“How did you do that? That was brilliant!" he heard a voice say. Godric opened his eyes, dumbfounded, and found the boy’s gaze fixed on him, full of curiosity. While Godric’s mind was still racing to make sense of this impossibility, his mouth was already charging ahead. “Where did your snake go?” he heard himself ask, almost accusingly. The boy nodded, as if Godric’s point followed perfectly from his previous remarks, and a smile flitted over his face.

The first three chapters of my Godric/Salazar fic are finally online!! Come for the snakes and goats, stay for the medieval queerness (not quite there yet). This work was started for the @hp-queer-villains-fest and went entirely out of hand, I am immensely grateful to the mods for encouraging me and allowing my three chapters to count as a submission!

Hp and Narnia fans I summon you to talk to you all.

Now I know we as a fandom have fancasted the Pevensie children as the founders of Hogwarts but what if we changed it a bit.

Now hear me out, we originally casted Peter Pevensie as Godric Gryffindor, Susan Pevensie as Rowena Ravenclaw, Edmund Pevensie as Salazar Slytherin, and Lucy Pevensie as Helga Hufflepuff and everyone either agreed or disagreed about their house placement.

But I think I shall bring a new idea forth. Allow me to introduce the idea
