Haters will say that Snape is the worst person in the world for being bitchy to his class…And then say that Petunia Dursley wasn’t a bad person because she did love her sister.

So, one line of dialogue about how she’s sad her sister died makes up for abusing, starving and imprisoning a child?????? Keeping a child locked in a cupboard? Feeding a child scraps through a cat flap?!?!??!?!?
But Severus surviving years of abuse, being groomed by a cult, turning on said cult, protecting the children from Death Eaters and fighting for the light because of love, that means nothing to them because he *checks notes* “was a snarky meanie”.

This is why I hate it when people try to say “Oh but the Marauders grew up”, Seriously??? Publicly humiliating your colleague (and repeated victim) who is making you a life preserving medication every month btw, is being grown up?
Knocking your unconscious victims head against things on purpose is grown up? Looking at you, Sirius.
And after all that, Severus conjured a stretcher for Sirius and only told about Remus being a werewolf after Remus neglected his medication and endangered children’s lives.
Who was the one who handled the situation with more maturity? Sure as hell wasn’t Remus or Sirius.
Let‘s talk about how Remus Lupin.
Humiliated his colleague.
Who he and his friends had already tormented for years before that.
Who was almost murdered by his friends.
The man who kept his mouth shut for years and did not tell anyone about Remus true nature.
Eventhough he almost died because of it.
The man who never receieved a single fucking apology.

They were just silly teenage pranks.

Some people will really be able to deduce from the text that Harry has trust issues from his abusive childhood. Or completely invent justifications like “Bellatrix’s parents used the cruciatus on her as a child and that’s why she’s insane”.
But if you bring up how Severus’s behaviour points to him having trauma, suddenly they want in-text, page reference, “where does it implicitly state that he has trauma” proof.
What is it about Severus that sets haters off? There are far worse, truly villainous characters in this story that are treated like little meow meows. But point out that Severus is a damaged, complicated but ultimately good person, and they lose their stuffings.
