nobody gets the triumphs and defeats, the epic highs and lows of getting overly attached to a rarepair borderline crackship trying to lure people in with many fanarts and two one shots starting to write a longfic but never finishing it bc theres just not enough engagement and motivation and then three years later rereading the 15k you wrote for that epic long fic and crying bc it fucks so hard bro, all the while you're procrastinating studying bc you have an exam in two days and youre scared

can I be honest with you? i feel like I could’ve shipped e****y if chr*ssy had been either a bigger girl or a woman of color. like we have seen the thin white cheerleader getting with the “bad boy” (🙄) or whatever a million times before and it would’ve been a better ship if she had something extra ya know?? idk if that makes sense. like can you imagine a chubby cheerleader with eddie? or a black/latina/Asian/etc cheerleader with eddie? i can picture it easier than just chr*ssy how she is. especially since those girls would have more of an open mind, especially since they would’ve been more prone to bullying due to how they look.
babe i appreciate these sentiments so much bc they're what's closest to how diversity works in the real world but as someone with a bachelors in media i can tell you honestly that that never would've happened.
chrissy needed to be pretty and white. not only so that small town hawkins could be whipped up in a frenzy over her death, but so that audiences would feel bad for her. because she's sweet and innocent. if she were anything but white, "sweet" and "innocent" would not be in the vocabulary. she would've just been another expendable minority, and people would have found some reason to blame her for her own death, no matter how bullshit that reason would be.
and don't get me started on the plus size issue. she couldn't be an object of desire if she were fat. she would've been the comic relief. the girl that everyone felt bad for because she was "ugly".
her place in the plot wouldn't have worked if she were anything other than a skinny white girl. because it wouldn't be believable in the context of american culture, especially for a small town in the 80s.

i do unironically think the best artists of our generation are posting to get 20 notes and 3 reblogs btw. that fanfic with like 45 kudos is some of the best stuff ever written. those OCs you carry around have some of the richest backstories and worldbuilding someone has ever seen. please do not think that reaching only a few people when you post means your art isn't worth celebrating.

not to sound like a boomer, but I need some people to learn how to write emails in a semi-professional (at the very least) format so you're not cold emailing a business/potential employer/any other stranger about formal matters in the exact same way you'd DM a close friend on instagram
the formality/language can loosen up in the email chain once you've established a rapport and you match the other person if they're being less formal, but please don't have the very first email you send a stranger be written in all lowercase ultra-casual sms slang with no greeting or signature and a billion emojis

"i hate microlabels" yeah i also kind of dislike the idea of putting ourselves and our identities into very specific boxes, i think it can be really isolating- ohh wait you mean you think they're invalid. ohh no that's not the way to look at it. killing you

Ūropi (Europe)
Ūropi, also known by its indigenous name “Europe”, meaning “wide-gazing” or “broad of aspect”, is a small continent first discovered in 1806 by Moehanga of Ngāpuhi, although indigenous Europeans had been living there for many thousands of years. Modern researchers believe the indigenous Europeans originally migrated from the Middle East, and over time split into separate tribes or “kingdoms,” with many retaining their ancient rangatira (called “monarchs” or “nobility”) to this day.
While many see Ūropi as timeless and exotic, indigenous Europeans have actually adapted well to the modern economy, often exporting cultural products like baguettes and vodka, the former of which may be recognisable as the basis for bánh mì.

There’s that post that’s like ‘everyone should get into a tiny niche fandom at least once’ fully agree, that was really fun -- but I would like to add that everyone should get into a fandom where their opinions run counter to major fanon because it really teaches you about sticking to your guns and trusting your interpretation of the text without having to rely on peer validation
because WHAT are people talking about sometimes

I think we need to get more comfortable with the idea that sometimes shitty, racist, homophobic, bigoted people are still incredibly talented.
I feel like every time I see a post addressing someone’s shitty behavior the post also takes the time to mention that they’re not even good at [x] anyway. And that’s just not always true? Equating being good at a skill as being morally good is just not necessary. Someone can be a fantastic writer, can have a beautiful singing voice, can create breathtaking artwork, and still be a horrible person.
I know part of this is probably just the instinct to dislike everything about a person when you dislike them, but I also think this mindset leads to people defending creatives way past where they should, because if bad people create bad art, then if this person creates art that I like and resonates with me, then they can’t be a bad person!
And you know. That’s just not true. Those two things are simply completely unconnected and I think it’d be healthier if we all started disconnecting them in our heads.
