Everyone is going on about "is everything okay between us" and the single tear and oh no what if wilmon isn't endgame. So allow me to comfort you.

Obviously a lot is going to happen between our boys, and they are going to fight, yes. But to me they don't look upset in the way they do when they fight, to me it looks like the both have these Mona Lisa smiles and Wille is emotional, yes, but he's not broken. So have we considered that the answer to "is everything okay between us" could be "yes" and this is a moment of relief, of beautiful canon hurt/comfort, of maturity between them where they are finally able to fight, communicate, and reconcile, thus showing how far they've come since the first season? Did we think of that?

As we're all very aware, we live in a time when open hatred of many marginalized groups has been growing. And as many others have said, it's super fucking important that we stop fighting amongst ourselves over relatively minor issues when there are people who quite literally wants us dead, or at the very least, silent and subservient.

Punching down and sideways to attack the people who are 99% on our side might make us feel superior for a little while, but it's important to ask ourselves if attacking other marginalized people helps anyone.

With that in mind, I wanted to remind all of us that language, culture, and iconography all change over time, and not everyone keeps up with those changes at the same speed.

As an obvious example, 'they' is now a much more commonly used singular pronoun than it used to be. It's meaning has expanded and changed subtly.

Another example is the comedy genre in general: movies and TV shows from even a few years ago relied on humor that many of us now see as tasteless at best and dehumanizingly cruel at worst.

Then you have things like reclaimed slurs. For some of them, their meanings have changed multiple times.

We've also got all of the microlabels among queer folks, which are rapidly multiplying and evolving. Many of them didn't exist 2 or 5 or 10 years ago, but now they might be the most central part of someone's personality.

Pepe the frog is an example of an image whose meaning has radically shifted in a short period of time. What was originally a harmless cartoon was appropriated by the US alt-right movement and is now considered a hate symbol (though the ADL acknowledges that 'the majority of uses of Pepe the Frog have been, and continue to be, non-bigoted').

On the opposite end of the spectrum, you have characters like Mickey Mouse and Felix the Cat, who were designed to be minstrels. Now, of course, almost no one associates Mickey Mouse with blackface or racism.

Those are just a handful of examples involving the English language and the internet's largely American-centric culture, but there are obviously many, many more. All of this is difficult enough for native English speakers to keep up with, but we should also bear in mind that, for many folks, English isn't their native language.

I've seen awful harassment by queer people against another queer person just because her English wasn't perfect and she used a term that, at that time, wasn't considered the correct one by the people who attacked her.

We should also keep in mind people who have other language or cognitive difficulties (I'm honestly not sure how to phrase this, so please don't assume I'm being derogatory or cruel—I am one of those people).

Even for those of us with the best of intentions, all of this can make online interactions feel like navigating a minefield because many people exclusively engage in paranoid reading of everything from novels to shitposts.

I think all of us would be better served if we stepped back for a moment to consider questions like, "Does this person have malicious intentions?" and "Is this something that causes real harm to real people or does it just bother me, personally?" and "Will calling this person out or shaming them help anyone?"

A lot of us are on the same side, and we might have slightly different beliefs, but we don't need to be enemies. Wasting our outrage on each other is exactly what our real enemies want.

Au where when Jason died he became a ghost in the Ghost Zone/ Infinity Realms and became friends with a bunch of child ghosts. They never knew how or why he disappeared one day, but continued playing together hopping that one day he'd come back and tell them all about his newest adventure.

The day they met Phantom was a fun one! There was a huge explosion and when they went to investigate there was this white haired kid just floating through the rubble of rocks and weird metal, completely unconscious. He reminded them so much of thier lost Robin, so of course they adopted him into thier group.

One day a new ghost was telling them stories about the superheros in the living realm and they learned that Robin was apparently alive and with this scary bat guy who ruled a city with fear. That didn't sound like something thier Robin would be okay with so being little kids, they came to the conclusion that Robin was being held against his will and thats why he never returned to play with them.

Featuring: Phantom and other ghost children sneaking around Mt. Justice, breaking into the Watchtower, Danny overshadowing an old computer and becoming 8-bit for a while, Martian Manhunter playing with the children and pretending to be vanquished via foam sword, Damian (as Robin) getting kidnapped-called a liar for claiming to be Robin-thrown into a closet for "being mean"-and subsequently forgotten about, Red Robin also gets kidnapped and it goes way better and the kids play with him a while and explain they're looking for thier friend who was a hero named Robin. Tim puts the pieces together and subtly informs the League whats been happening.

Jason gets called in and freezes upon seeing the ghosts and feeling the pit water stur before he runs away screaming when they run towards him. Them calling him by both his civilian name and "Robin" and asking him to "come back" and "play with us" did not help

Later, the JL whisper-fights in the meeting room cause all the children are scattered around sleeping (some in peoples laps) when Phantom (from where he's asleep in Batmans lap) has a glowing ring appear around him and changed his form.

Hearing the commotion, one of the kids wakes up just long enough to tell them "Oh yeah. Phantom randomly gets revived sometimes. He'll go back to normal in a few hours." Before conking out again.

where oh where is the reading comprehension??? did y’all really not read any of GoF??? not only does the minister of fucking magic not know about the Dark Mark tattoos, as snape has to explain and show it to him (which just ????? astounding incompetence from the ministry of goddamn magic and the wizarding world at large) but sirius literally says in response to the kiddos telling him that Karkaroff showed snape something on his arm, “'He showed Snape something on his arm?' said Sirius, looking frankly bewildered...'Well, I’ve no idea what that’s about." despite the fact that he KNOWS for a fact karkaroff was a death eater. (and his own goddamn brother was a death eater. And his family was super pro-voldemort).

The whole fucking point is that no one knew.

Otherwise it would have been obvious who was and who wasn’t death eaters, or at least, inner-circle death eaters. Sirius would not have gone to Azkaban. The Malfoys and literally every other free death eater would have.. but this didn’t happen because the wizarding world is complete shit at handling things and disseminating EXTREMELY IMPORTANT information.. that’s the whole fucking point.

thoughts on Astarion and asexuality

yes, Astarion confirmed during Act II that he's only ever used sex as a tool (for as long as he's been a vampire anyway, which we learn later has been more than 80% of his life so far), either for his master because he was forced to or (more recently) for himself - to seek protection and trust, from you. he literally compares it to something disgusting to force himself through. but does that mean he's asexual?

yes, he talks about sex feeling "tainted" to him after he used it so much to lure Cazador's victims (and apparently, not just because it usually worked, but because he had to..? he doesn't specify, but lbr i wouldn't put it past the bastard to make it a rule of some kind, especially if he picked up on Astarion disliking it), but he also talks about being less disgusted by (quote) "beautiful" people (though he also conceded that in the sum of it all, that barely even mattered).

and he jokes about it being "almost [...] a challenge" to not have sex for a while (though it's unclear whether he thinks the player wouldn't be able to hold out, since it's supposed to be on his (Astarion's) terms?), and by the end of the romance arc, you can choose to have sex with him again and he'll enjoy it. all in all, it mostly really sounds like he's deeply traumatized (i mean duh, but yk, also sexually traumatized) and just needs a while to work through that (if you don't give him that time he'll go through with it once more but then break up with you, fyi)) and not like he actually doesn't enjoy sex, never has never will.

i know he was not written as asexual.

[ and yes i also know that asexuality doesn't mean having no desire for / feeling disgusted by sex, i know. but the day ace rep is portrayed any differently in media is still ages away, so i'm working with "character intentionally written as ace = character written as not enjoying sex" here. ]

But.

is it so wrong to feel elated at the thought that he could be? to interpret him that way? especially when he says "I don't think I want you to think of me in terms of sex. I don't know if I want anyone to." (and says the second part so softly, eyes downcast, utterly devoid of theatrics or feigned nonchalance - almost like he's surprising himself with that thought, and voicing it openly). I felt that so much. upon you inquiring further, he snaps almost defensively that he wants to be seen as a person, which i know, i know, easily works back into the trauma narrative of him not being seen as a living (well yk) being that has feelings. it clearly doesn't necessarily mean he dislikes being seen as a sexual being, just that he's more than that and is sick and tired of being reduced to it.

but something still jumped in me at that line. 'please don't look at me and think of sex' is a frequent thought in my mind, and looking at me and thinking of seduction is a joke and a half - i don't dress it behave it or talk it, ever. but nonetheless, the... fear, almost? is still there. (and maybe the very reason i take care not to send any contradictory signals, but that's a topic for a whole 'nother post - this isn't about me).

i just. do i think Astarion was intentionally written as asexual? no. do i think he should be, and that there's something wrong with seeing him or preferring him as allo? absolutely not either! but i believe just as much that it's valid to read him or prefer him as ace. and yk, obv everything is valid, canon is your sandbox and your headcanons are your own - but in this case, it's really, really close to being in the text. he resonates with a lot of us, one way or another, and i think that's beautiful.

I need everyone to calm down a little bit about the Six of Crows plot😭

I want to see it as much as the next person, but think about this logically. It would not make any sense to do it right now. The two storylines cannot co-exist—as long as the darkling is running around causing problems there's no way they can bring in jurda parem. Are you kidding? They wouldn't stand a chance. It'd be over before they even began. The world would end.

The creators have said that the Ice Court heist is too big to merge with Shadow and Bone. They said that they recognise it as its own thing and that they have plans for it. The only thing we can do is try to get it renewed. The SoC story cannot run parallel to SaB if they want to do it justice. For now, let's just enjoy our criminals being completely in over their head when it comes to international conflicts and shadow monsters. They'll get their time to shine, and they'll be back in their own elements before we know it

No Kaitlyn Dever hate on this blog.

Everyone needs to take a deep breath. Superficial opinions on appearances aren't helpful commentary. It's called acting. Costuming. Makeup (or lack thereof). We haven't seen recent photos of Dever. She could have already been in the gym; I'm sure they cast her long before they announced it. She just needs to be more muscular than Bella, and that's an easy task, as you have all pointed out (Bella is tiny). They made Sarah Miller black and that didn't affect the plot. This will NOT affect the PLOT. They can show Abby's love for her dad and commitment to revenge in other ways. Remember, television is a different medium from a video game.

Don't get me wrong. I REALLY wanted Shannon Berry. She would have been perfect, but I'm keeping the faith in Dever. She's a great actor. They haven't even filmed the show yet! We don't know what order they are filming scenes in. If she hits the gym daily for the months leading up to her scenes, she can absolutely bulk up. People change their appearances all the time... honestly, it's easy to masculinize or feminize people! Trust me.

That being said, I am also sad that we won't have someone as close to as muscular as Abby really is. It's a loss for butch women and therefore sapphics. But this news doesn't mean the second season will suck automatically. Please don't come on my blogs and yuck my yum.
