For me? Absolutely. Where I live was already conservative-leaning beforehand, but since it's gotten worse every year. It's unlivable now.
Edit: I was mainly asking this to USAmericans, but the global effects are a real thing.
#it’s about the same in the since of the people and in some ways (fuck heads who cause shit leaving) the town is better#in other ways (structuraly everything is falling apart and no one is fixing it for some reason? or store is so gross now and the only good#place to buy from is the dollar general) it’s worse.#I only feel safe walking down the street cause of a couple reasons 1). I am pre transition 2). my family is one of the most well known#families in the area. we have lived here for generations.#that being said I don’t walk around town often. it’s a very safe town and news travels fast if you do something wrong the whole town will#know about it and ostracizes you#🤷🏼♀️ it’s safe and not safe at the same time.#crazy convoluted mess really

"Don't use Libby because it costs libraries too much, pirate instead" is such a weird, anti-patron, anti-author take that somehow manages to also be anti-library, in my professional librarian-ass opinion.
It's well documented that pirating books negatively affects authors directly* in a way that pirating movies or TV shows doesn't affect actors or writers, so I will likely always be anti-book piracy unless there's absolutely, positively no other option (i.e. the book simply doesn't exist outside of online archives at all, or in a particular language).
Also, yeah, Libby and Hoopla licenses are really expensive, but libraries buy them SO THAT PATRONS CAN USE THEM. If you're gonna be pissed at anybody about this shitty state of affairs, be pissed at publishing companies and continue to use Libby or Hoopla at your library so we can continue to justify having it to our funding bodies.
One of the best ways to support your library having services you like is to USE THOSE SERVICES. Yes, even if they are expensive.

If a worker who isn't the owner says ANYTHING similar to "I'm not really supposed to do this but-" and then does something that helps you, under no circumstances inform the business, including through reviews. You tell them that the worker was polite, professional, the very model of customer service and why you like to go there. You do not breathe a word of the rulebreaking.
