[“As history has shown, and as I was at the time experiencing, a strap-on can be sexy, but it can also be a failure and a threat. It draws attention to how contradictory and fragile our definitions of male and female are, and how tightly we cling to them, even in relationships between women, where gender and sexuality are more flexible.
I think it’s important to look at how this played out, not just in the history of straight men policing lesbians but in the lesbian community policing itself. In the 1940s and 50s a bar scene began to develop in cities across the country, marking the first time when lesbians, particularly working-class ones, gathered publicly and in large numbers. During this time a butch/femme culture developed that included strict codes of dress and behavior both in and outside the bedroom. Butch women slicked back their hair, wore suits and jeans, and were, generally, the “givers” of sexual pleasure. Femme women wore dresses and makeup and were the “receivers” of sexual pleasure. In some ways, this culture was liberating, as it represented a powerful, cohesive group aesthetic and safety in numbers. Especially for women who actually identified as butch, it was also a chance to finally adopt masculine dress without being seen as failed or dangerous but rather as sexy and loveable. For others this culture was a trap, pushing women into restrictive sex and gender roles in the same ways heterosexuality had. It is by no means the only lesbian aesthetic, but I think part of the reason it has stuck around for so long in the popular imagination as the way lesbians are is because it allows straight people to again see themselves as the center of the sexual world.
In either case, strap-ons were not widely used, or at least not talked about. In Boots of Leather, Slippers of Gold, a book that documents the lives of Black and white lesbians in Buffalo, there is a pretty exhaustive set of interviews about sex acts and terminology, but no one mentions owning, liking, or even trying sex with a strap-on. Indeed, the one mention of a dildo is one of bewilderment as Vic, a self-identified butch, talks about her friend pulling her into the bathroom to show her the new strap-on she got. “Jesus, she whipped this thing out . . . I’m supposed to be butch and my face felt like a neon sign. I could feel the embarrassment. How do you admire a dildo? No seriously, what do you say?”
Butches in the book took great pride “in their own hands and their ability to please,” which “did not dispose them to think that a dildo would improve their lovemaking.” It’s interesting that they considered the dildo less potent and successful than hands. This could be read as displacing the power of the dick, but, coupled with the silence surrounding strap-on use, it also points to a greater fear about the lesbian body. How regulated and small it had to be to exist. How easily it could be diminished by something outside itself, or destroyed altogether.
In the lesbian radical feminist movement of the 1960s and 70s, there was also a great deal of attention focused on creating distance from dicks. Jill Johnston argued in A Lesbian Nation that the only true road to female liberation was the conscious “withdrawal at every level from the man to develop woman supremacy.” This meant that not only butch/femme dynamics but also penetrative sex were out. Anne Koedt developed the theory that the vaginal orgasm was a myth perpetrated by Freud in order to center male sexual desire for penetration, though her evidence for this was a study done by Kinsey—a man—that found the vagina was not particularly sensitive to touch. True orgasms, Koedt argued, only came from the clitoris—even though she interestingly also called the clit “the female equivalent of the penis”—so if women wanted to have enjoyable sex there was no need for penetration, only clitoral stimulation. Andrea Dworkin went so far as to call the penis “a hidden symbol of terror” and argued that “violence is male, the male is the penis.”
Dorothy Allison writes about the effects this had on herself and other lesbians at the time. “No one admitted to using dildos, wanting to be tied up, wanting to be penetrated, or talking dirty—all that male stuff . . . my lover wanted us to perform tribadism, stare into each other’s eyes, and orgasm simultaneously. Egalitarian, female, feminist, revolutionary.” In attempting to free themselves from the penis, in many ways radical lesbians ended up reinscribing the power of the dick and sacrificing the range of sexual pleasure they could experience in the process.
In a counter to this, the lesbian sexual outlaws of the 1970s, 80s, and 90s argued that dildos were actually great, not problematic, but primarily because they didn’t reference the penis at all. Some even argued that wearing a dildo turns a woman into a cyborg, not woman, man, or even human, just a body involved in the mechanistic movements of giving and receiving pleasure. While there is something freeing about this argument, as it gets us out from under the idea that we can’t talk about strap-ons and that a woman wearing a strap-on is only trying to make up for a never-ending lack, it still bypasses the sticky, complicated reality of the gendered/human world we live in and the simple fact that sometimes lesbians want strap-ons to look like penises.
All of this begs the question: can a dyke wear a dick and just have some damn fun?”]

Divergence of Destiny by Fernandidilly_yo
This is his life now, here on this ship, serving tea with Uncle and the crew. Traveling the world and staying far, far away from the ongoing war.
The Jasmine Dragon is Zuko's home.
Meeting the Avatar does not change that.
It changes absolutely nothing.
(Until, inevitably, it does.)
Tea and Cakes by ghosteyes
Zuko is having trouble pretending he doesn't has a problem with food and through a series of field trips with friends, the gaang starts to pick up on that as well.
Wishful Thinking by mindbending
Right after Boiling Rock, Zuko found Sokka sprawled in his tent with a bouquet of red roses, and a ring of romantic candles, and one final rose set between his teeth. With the littlest twinge of envy, Zuko realized the entire display was for Suki.
The point is Sokka's flirting is about as subtle as a buffalo yak. To miss it, you’d have to be a complete and utter airhead.
Stranger Things
Down in a Dead Man's Town by holyfudgemonkeys (erraticallyinspired)
When Steve nearly runs over Will Byers on that fateful night in 1983, he doesn’t expect offering him a ride home would result in both of them being hunted into another dimension. Surviving there is hard. Adapting to normal life again is even harder. His old self settles like an ill-fitting suit, and there’s no room for nightmares and fear and his new bond with Will in it. As he struggles to find a new normal he can live with, Steve finds himself befriending a bunch of kids and maybe (definitely) falling in love with a local weed dealer.

And okay, fine, Tim can admit it: his parents paying off a school official to circumvent social services just to see him was sketchy at best—probably illegal at worst. They really shouldn’t have done it. Bruce and Alfred would be furious to find out that they had. Not to mention Jason, who would go absolutely apeshit.
But–
But it was also just really fucking sweet of them.
Tim hasn’t felt this loved, this cherished, this fought for and desired by his parents in years.
Doesn’t he at least owe it to them to hear them out?
(Three months into Tim’s foster placement with the Waynes, Jack and Janet Drake decide they want back into their son’s life.)

It’s over remarkably quickly. The winning Batman leaves the losing Batman on the floor, still and broken, and Superman moves quickly to tie that one up as Winning Batman turns away. Turns toward Damian.
His shoulders slump, and Damian feels numb. This is not his Batman.
Anton Syndrome by Anonymous
Tim's parents have been away for six months and counting—the longest he's ever been left alone at one time—and it's starting to have some unpleasant side effects. Luckily, he has a solution.

I Just Wanna Talk by foldingfacets
John Constantine beat the system of life and death until it fully refused to touch him anymore, and when it did, it never went well. It was a fact that the League had come to terms with, or those that knew, anyways. None of Constantine’s past could explain the kid in fuzzy pajamas that was curled up on a chair in the Justice League’s control room asking for the elusive brit.
Danny had barely made it to high school graduation only to be thrust into dealing with the millennia of bullshit waiting ever so patiently for the King of the Infinite Realms to look at. The fact that there was a weird amount of paperwork filed regarding some dude named John Constantine that looked like the weirdest form of tax fraud he’d ever seen was puzzling, and his parents committed that regularly. He has no idea what the hell he’s looking at.
Alternately: Danny is the inter-dimensional personification of the IRS for Death and the Unliving, and he just has a couple questions.

reginald lied to klaus about his death in 3x07. in 3x06, when klaus comes to visit him, it’s a day; it’s still a day when reginald electrocutes him to death:
Tumblr media
it’s night, when allison comes to the academy with harlan’s body in the trunk (and there’s also klaus’ body somewhere in the academy):
Tumblr media
and it seems only the NEXT DAY reginald takes klaus out for training. in 3x07, reginald tells klaus he remained dead for 22 minutes. so, klaus probably thinks it’s still the day when he told reginald about the white buffalo suite; the last thing he remembers is being electrocuted. reginald also adds that klaus was totally vulnerable, and he could’ve taken any of his organs. klaus is shocked, because why good ol’ reggie would do that, right?
the training starts at 1:15 p.m., reginald writes it down. logically, klaus’ 22-minute-long death should be listed as 001, but:
Tumblr media
it’s 004. 22 minutes - lower body (something something), and LACERATION? before that, 003 - failure (?).
between klaus’ FIRST electrocution and the bus-ball training, reginald had killed him not one, but four (FOUR!) times. and, most likely he did indeed try to cut him/cut out his organs (?) to check on how/if his dead body can heal itself. spoiler alert: klaus CAN HEAL HIMSELF even when he’s dead. later, we can see it in 3x09 when he comes back to life when the wound on his stomach has ALREADY healed. (so no one could steal his falling out guts, right? reginald knew. old bitch fucking knew).
so, i think reginald kept electrocuting klaus all night between 3x06-3x07 (with the method reginald chose, it could probably mess up klaus’ memories? he literally doesn’t remember shit except for being electrocuted one last time?) until he made sure that: a) klaus comes back fairly quick now (attempt 003 says 26 minutes, not bad, not bad!) and b) his body heals from any injuries so haha getting crashed with a car is not a big deal.

Silent Echoes - His Legacy. Serendipity's Tapestry: A Reunion in Scarlet Hues (Chapter 1)
Tumblr media
The crimson walls of the Donquixote mansion stood tall , bathed in the warm glow of the setting sun. Within its opulent halls , the air was thick with the scent of power and intrigue , as the Donquixote family conducted their affairs with calculated precision. They had a group to deal with within the rowdy town they stayed in.
The doors of their shared mansion swung open , revealing a short figure. The person had raggedy hair , a sharp tooth that poked out from the corner of their crooked smile , and eyes that radiated energy. The person laughed and threw their bag to the side. The person , a grown member of the infamous family , had been away for quite some time , tending to personal matters. The news of their return buzzed through the mansion like an electric current , piquing the curiosity of the family members who hadn't seen them in a few long years.
It was in the grand dining hall that had one large window behind the long table. The table was home to chairs that represented what each member was. A king symbol , a club symbol , a heart symbol , a spade symbol , a diamond symbol , and a suit symbol. The bustling chatter of the family members ceased as the door swung open , revealing the returning member.
As the newcomer strode through the ornate corridors , the familiar faces of the family greeted them with a mix of surprise and recognition.
“Look who's back from the shadows.” Sneered Diamante , eyeing {Reader} with a mixture of suspicion and amusement.
{Reader} chuckled , their voice carrying a confident edge , “Never could resist the allure of ‘family drama.’ “ And put full emphasis on family drama.
As soon as the owl - like human stepped into the dining hall and spoke , 2 children ran up to them. “Mx. {Reader} !!” The female child yelled excitedly , holding onto their leg.
The stranger smiled and petted her head. “Why hello , Baby 5. Its been a while , huh ?” They spoke , a large grin still present on their small face. {Name} picked up Baby 5 and cradled her. Suddenly , they felt another tug on their dirty pants. The {h / c} haired person looked down and noticed the male child was now trying to get their attention.
“Oh ! Buffalo !” They acknowledged , putting Baby 5 down to pick him up. Even though he was quite big , {Name} was quite strong. They chuckled and put them down.
He looked up at {Name} with a bright smile on his face and decided to ask about their adventure. “Mx. {Name} ! Why were you gone for so long ?! How big was that mission ?!!!” He complained while holding onto Baby 5’s shoulders.
The short family member laughed loudly and crossed their arms. “Don’t worry ‘bout it , lil man.” They patted his head and walked towards the table. Their smile faltered slightly as they caught the stare of the young master himself , Donquixote Doflamingo. {Name} put a bag on the table in front of him and brushed some hair out of their face.
They sighed and stared at him. “I got the fruit you wanted.” They shared , adjusting the band that their sword sheath was strapped to. The headmaster began laughing and picked up the bag that took years to get.
“Took you a while . {Name}.” He mentioned while staring directly into the mentioned person’s eyes through his shades. A creepy smile was present on his large face. If {Name} didn’t know any better , they would have thought that Doflamingo was concerned.
They laughed it off and decided to change the topic. “You guys better have some extra.”
Meanwhile , a young boy , with wide hate filled eyes , sat in the corner by himself. The boy , unaware of the significance of the moment , looked up from his plate. His wide eyes met {Reader}'s , and for a moment , time seemed to stand still. The person smiled and walked towards him.
“Hey there , kiddo ,” {Reader} greeted , bending down to Law's eye level. “You must be Law. I've heard a lot about you.”  Law blinked , processing the new face before him. He didn’t understand why he felt so comfortable around them.
“Who are you ?” He asked distastefully , hiding his plate. The {e / c} eyed family member laughed and sat on the ground. While they spoke , the rest of the family went back to their prior discussions and actions.
They put a hand out and smiled widely. “{Reader}. It’s nice to meet ya , Law.” They spoke , taking his hand in their own. They shook it gently and stood up. “We can talk more once I get some food. I’m starvinnnn’ !” They complained , walking to the kitchen.
Even if the family seemed rude , they did care for their other family members. Even if the newcomer was annoying , they cared. Afterall , they occupied the Suit seat of the family. They were  an elite officer of the family as well. They were powerful , not to be taken lightly.
Speaking of them , {Reader} walked back in with a full plate of {things you like} and sat down next to Law. They stuffed their face and waited until they were finished to speak. “So , kid. Why did you come here ?” It was a sincere question , one that hid a deep worry that rooted within {Reader}. They crossed their short arms and stared at the unruly black hair that adorned the boy they spoke to.
“I want to kill people before I die.” This deep response made the owl person stop chewing on whatever food they had in their mouth and stare weirdly at him. “That’s . . quite the reason.” They responded after they finished swallowing the piece of food they almost choked on. “What do you mean ‘before you die’ ?” A look of concern flashed in their wide , child - like eyes. They didn't know what happened to him , but it made them worry. 'No kid should have to think like that' , they thought.
He stared angrily and rolled his eyes. “I don’t have to tell you that.” He scoffed , going back to eating his food. “That’s right. You don’t have to tell me anythin’. Just know I’m here if ya wanna talk.” They smiled and patted his head.
A slight uncomfortable silence enveloped the 2 short individuals. Even if Law didn’t want to admit it , he enjoyed {Reader}’s company. It was a striking contrast to what he has experienced already with the younger blood brother of the young master.

11 - Intense Family Reunion
Tumblr media
Part 12
Gemini Runaway
@dragonixfrye
Shrugging one a nice white tee shirt with flowers on it I stared at myself in the mirror. The v neck part of the shirt hung a little lower than I cared for but I liked the pairing with some ripped blue jeans and some orange tenna shoes. My hair was in a braid thrown over my right shoulder finally paired with my brother’s necklace as always. “That text can’t be from my mother. She has no idea where I am right. Yeah she couldn’t possibly have broken my hiding spell.”
Exiting my bedroom in the Mikaelson’s house I didn’t bother with looking around considering I had a pretty good idea how the house was shaped figuring I wouldn’t run into anything expected. Twirling my necklace in my hands I couldn’t shake the nerves in the pit of my stomach. “Worse case scenario if she does find me then she’ll be so angry with me. She’ll take me back to Uncle Joshua….but I can’t face that. I won’t be their leader - oh god but I have a sort of family here now too. I don’t - I don’t want to run from this life.”
“Don’t make me do this to you again, Elijah!” Whipping my head around, I ran into the room that Klaus was holding his coffins to see that he was holding down someone and in his other hand was a silver dagger.
“Klaus, what on earth are you doing?” I called out to him where he dropped the dagger onto the wooden floor seeing that I was standing in the doorway.
He gasped, dropping his hands at his sides. “Raelyn, it’s just family business.”
“Niklaus…” The man he was holding down was wearing a black suit and tie when his gaze met mine. “Who exactly is this girl?”
The hybrid placed a hand on the man’s shoulder gesturing with his freehand in my direction. “Brother this is Raelyn Lane. She is a siphon witch from a coven called the Gemini. She’s been helping me to reunite us with the rest of our family. And Raelyn, this is my brother Elijah.”
“Hi, it’s nice to meet you.” I nervously waved not expecting to meet another family member of his so soon.
The man named Elijah moved past his brother picking up my hand and kissing the palm of it before dropping it when I blushed shifting my gaze to Klaus seeing that he was clenching his jaw. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Raelyn.”
“So that is my brother who has been very loyal to me, not as loyal as Rebekah. But still loyal. Also I did manage to get you your buffalo chicken. It's being set on the table now.” Elijah walked off when the doorbell had rang when Klaus came over to me.
“Thank you.” My phone vibrates in my back pocket.
“Who’s calling you this late?” He clearly noticed that I wasn’t going to answer.
“It’s not a big deal. I’ll answer it later. Let’s go eat, I'm starving.” Throwing my hands up I headed towards the dining room seeing that there were five chairs with a table full of food, along with a blonde girl that was obviously compelled by him to serve the meal.
Elijah opened the front door declaring to the two of us. “Niklaus, our guests have arrived.”
“Damon. Stefan. Elijah tells me, you seek an audience. Very bold. Let's discuss the terms of our agreement like civilised men, shall we?” Klaus asked the pair coming over to me pulling out my chair letting me sit down in the chair beside his. “Here you go, Rae.”
Elijah told them simply. “It's better to indulge him.”
Stefan grumbled back. “I didn't come here to eat, Klaus. Fact, I didn't want to come here at all. But I was told, I had to cause you would hear us out.”
Klaus smirked, resting his hands down on the back of my chair nodding to the blonde who pulled out his chair for him where he sat down threatening them. “Well, we can sit and eat or I can reach down your throats and pull out your insides. The choice is yours.”
Eyeing the plate in front of me the other three came over to the table where I reached towards my plate of food hearing Elijah respond. “Ladies first, Raelyn.”
“Thank you, love.” Damon mimicked Klaus’s accent when the blonde poured him some more drink.
Klaus pointed his fork in Stefan’s direction the he shifted his gaze my direction seeing that my fingers were covered with sauce where I grabbed the napkin not really realizing how hungry I was, my magic normally didn’t drain me so bad. “You lost your appetite….it’s seems Raelyn might be able to finish your whole meal along with her own.”
“Sorry -“ I closed my mouth seeing that Klaus simply raised a brow at me in warning to me always apologizing to him. “This is really good, I can't help it.”
Damon warns his little brother. “Eat. I thought we agreed that we would leave the grumpy Stefan at home.”
Stefan began eating after that, making Klaus respond. “That's the spirit. Isn't it nice? Five of us dining together? Such a treat. Is this what you had in mind when you pulled the dagger from my brother?”
Damon took a drink from his glass. “Well, I know how he felt about you, so I figured the more, the merrier ... .I see you took the same idea inviting your little magic drainer.”
“Well, Elijah and I have had our share of quarrels over the century. But we always make it through.” Klaus leaned back in his chair tilting his head in my direction. “As for me inviting Raelyn. She lives in my home and I am a gentleman. It seemed cruel to not invite her to dinner as well.”
Tearing off some meat from a piece of chicken I lifted my gaze up seeing that Klaus was now trying to hold back a laugh while looking at me. “What’s that look for, Nik?”
“You have something right there…” He leans forward wiping something off my nose with his thumb chuckling that it was some buffalo sauce. “I can’t take you anywhere, love.”
“I guess not.” Sending him a smile reaching over and flicking a fry in his face.
He made a face when he managed to catch it using vampire speed, clicking his tongue at me. “Don’t play with your food, Ms. Lane. Because you should know I would win.”
“I’d like to see you try without using your powers.” I challenged him by bending my fork back and launching a piece of chicken at him.
Klaus raised his hands behind his head catching the chicken in his mouth watching me about to bend my fork back until he warned me. “If you keep it up I might throw you on this table and tickle you until you beg for mercy.”
“You wouldn’t dare.” I pointed the fork at him leaning closer.
He scooted to the edge of the chair with our faces inches from one another. “Oh but I would, little witch.” His blue eyes locked onto mine and I parted my lips completely taken by his presence. It was getting rather hard for me to not just lean forward and kiss him, but I kept my emotions hidden too afraid that he might not feel the same or that I might have to run.
“Excuse me, can we get back to the meal or do you two want to go take it to the bedroom?” Damon asked, causing us to break away from one another.
Elijah sat his fork down. “Niklaus, must you want to ravish the poor girl at the dinner table. I say Rebekah would find this so uncomfortable.”
Stefan pointed his finger at Klaus. “Kind of like you and Rebekah, right? Where is she, by the way? Last I checked she was still daggered because you were afraid to face her.”
Klaus rolled his eyes leaning back in his chair and I leaned back in mine. “If you're referring to the fact that Rebekah knows I killed our mother, I've already come clean to Elijah.”
Damon warned him a second time. “Hey, Stef, remember when you killed dad? Might want to dial down the judgment until dessert.”
“We're here to make a deal, Damon. Doesn't mean we need to kiss his ass for seven courses.” He told his older brother not to care.
Damon sighed, glancing my direction. “I'm just saying we have a long evening ahead of us. Pace yourself…..plus he might send his little witch on you and she could blow your brains out.”
“I’m not an enemy, Damon.” I stabbed my fork in another chicken shoving it in my mouth feeling my phone vibrating in my pocket once more.
Elijah asked simply. “Stefan. Where is the lovely Elena tonight?”
Stefan looks to his brother. “I don't know. Ask Damon.”
Whipping my head around to Klaus I heard him laughing holding his fork in front of his face. “I'm sorry, you've missed so much. Uh- trouble in paradise.”
Stefan sniped at him. “One more word about Elena and this dinner's over.”
Klaus continues to laugh silently to Damon’s response. “You know what, probably best just to keep Elena in the do not discuss pile.”
“You’ve got to be kidding me…shut up.” I grumble under my breath pulling out my phone seeing that there was almost ten phone calls from that number.
Klaus put his hands together looking between the boys. “It's just the allure of the Petrova doppelgänger, still so strong. What do you say, brother? Should we tell them about Tatia?”
Elijah asked his brother. “Now why should we discuss matters long since resolved?”
Klaus threw his hands up looking my way reading the screen of my phone. “Well, given their shared affection for both Elena and Katerina, I think our guests might be curious to learn about the originator of the Petrova line.”
“I’ll be right back, sorry to interrupt dinner.” I rose from my chair when the caller came up again on my phone. Walking into the hallway I pressed the phone to my ear. “Jo, I’m sorry I’ve been ignoring your calls. I've been busy. What’s wrong?”
“Raelyn, it’s me.” The voice that came back through made my whole body stiffen.
Closing my eyes I sucked in a shaky breath not expecting her to be the one to get Jo’s phone number. “Mom…how the hell did you get my number?”
“I found Jo. Please just let me meet with you and explain what happened. I meant to tell you and your brother the truth, there just wasn’t enough time. And then you willingly did the merge I just-“ I cut off her excuses.
“Don’t give me a crappy apology, mom. You had twenty two years to tell us the truth but you didn’t do shit. You sacrificed your own son, my brother…my twin brother to die. There is no apology in the world that will make up for what you have done. As far as I am concerned we are no longer family and I never want to see you and dad ever again!”
My mother tried once again. “Raelyn, please. Let me speak with you. Before Joshua comes and forces you to do something you will regret.”
“I will never become the new leader of our insane coven, you hear me. I will never ever trust you again and if you come after me I will make you suffer!” I growled into the phone slightly surprised that I wanted vengeance. Normally I wasn’t violent but maybe there was a part of my brother’s dead spirit that I didn’t know about.
She begged me right before I hung up the phone, deleting the phone number in my phone heading back into the room. “Rae, I can protect you. You are my child and you have no idea what he will do. I’m going to find you - I’m coming to Mystic Falls-“
“Where are you manners, brother? We forgot dessert.” Elijah takes the cover off a plate a blonde woman is carrying. Two silver daggers lie on the plate.
Klaus asked, glancing in my direction seeing that I was standing beside the wall confused. “What have you done?”
Elijah walked closer to him explaining. “What have you done? You see I've learned not to trust your vulgar promises, Klaus. We're doing this on my terms now.” Moments later I noticed someone enter to stand beside him.
“Kol.” Klaus gasped at the stranger with dark brown hair and eyes.
Kol responded. “Long time, brother.”
Someone else vamp sped into the room stealing a dagger from the tray when Klaus backed away stabbing him in his hand. “Finn, don't!” Finn was shown to have hazel eyes from what I could tell so quickly.
He attempted to vamp speed away until I saw Rebekah holding the other dagger. “Rebekah?”
She stabbed him with a dagger in the lower part of his stomach making him groan in pain. “This is for our mother.”
Klaus falls back into Kol's arms and he restrains him. Elijah looks at Damon and Stefan. “You're free to go. This is family business.”
In a moment of pure panic I pressed my hand against the wall figuring that there was magic inside the walls. My hand turned the red color with me taking in a breath raising my freehand creating a loud scream to fill the room. “Get the hell off him!” The room full of vampires grabbed their heads moaning in pain dropping to the ground with Damon and Stefan quickly leaving the room.
“What the devil is she!” Finn spat holding his head.
Lowering my freehand I remained by the wall too afraid that they might come for me next. Rebekah gasped, sending me a weak smile. “I guess we’ve learned never to get on your bad side, Rae.”
“She’s a feisty little witch. I like her.” Kol smirked, lowering his hands from his head.
Elijah did the same looking towards his hybrid brother. Klaus rose to his feet running his fingers through his hair where I could see him bleeding from his hand wound and the one in his stomach. He remained a few steps away from me sniffling through some tears. “I’m fine, Rae….now what the bloody hell is going on here?”
Rebekah got to her feet making her red dress sway that she was supposed to wear to the dance until she got stabbed with a dagger. “We're leaving you, Nik. Right after I kill that doppelgänger wench, then you will be alone. Always and forever.”
Klaus threatened his siblings standing in front of me. But I didn’t dare drop my hand from the wall still siphoning the magic from the wall. “If you run, I will hunt all of you down.”
Elijah warned him. “Then you'll become everything you hate. Our father.”
Klaus raised his voice yelling at them all in a threatening manner. “I'm the hybrid! I can't be killed! I have nothing to fear from any of you.”
Elijah warned him simply where I saw the hybrid’s face change into a look of fear. “You will when we have that coffin.”
We all hear a door open and the others turn around. Pressing my hand firmly against the wall I muttered quickly under my breath creating a ball of fire in my freehand. “Incindia.” There was a woman with blonde hair that I didn’t recognize at all but she must have been the other person in the coffin that Elijah referred to.
Rebekah gasps with an almost bright smile. “Mother?”
The blonde woman walks towards Klaus. “Look at me! Do you know why I'm here?”
Klaus has tears in his eyes. “You're here to kill me.”
“Niklaus, you are my son and I am here to forgive you. I want us to be a family again.” She responded turning to face her children that were all just staring at her.
I blurted out a reply not believing it. “You’re their mother!”
“Yes.” She spun around on her feet where her demeanor changed to stone cold when her gaze shifted to my hand siphoning red on the wall until I dropped both my hands. “Now who the bloody hell are you exactly because I have heard the rumors on the other side about you. But I wish to know what kind of witch can make all of my children collapse onto the ground.”

Break In by soft_satan - Rated T
“9-1-1 what is your emergency?” “Break in,” he gasped as the rattling doorknob stopped. Buck gave their address quickly as he grabbed the bat he kept under his side of the bed. “I saw at least two men. No idea if they're armed.”
5-4-3-2-1 by elisela - Rated G
For all the times that Eddie has practiced getting into his turnout suit in record time, he never bothered figuring out how to get out of it just as fast. He would be regretting that if he could think about anything other than the fact that Buck went over the pier rail twenty-six seconds ago, and disappeared into the dark water seventeen seconds ago.
you know I wanna be the one to hold you when you sleep by ashavahishta - Rated G
He doesn’t see it. He barely even hears it, the sounds of struggle on the edge of his awareness as he and Hen roll the patient onto a stretcher. Bobby will tell him later that the guy had broken free from Buck, pushed him hard enough for Buck to lose his footing and trip backwards into the skate bowl. What Eddie does hear is the sickening dull thud of Buck’s head hitting concrete.
Snap, Crackle, Pop. by wolfypuppypiles - Rated T
Eddie pulled his phone out of his pocket, standing to answer its ringing call. “Hey, Buck.” “Dad.” Eddie spun on his heel, smile warming up his chest at his son’s voice. “Hey, buddy. Where’s Buck? You guys having fun?” “We fell.” AKA Buck gets hurt and its Christopher who has to save him
(hurt) thy neighbor by autumnchills - Rated T
“He’s armed,” is all he says into the phone before standing from his spot. He shoves his phone into his pocket and steps out, hands raised. Sure enough, the man has a gun pointed at him, but if he looks closely enough… Buck squints. Color him surprised. “Is that you—” “Don’t!” The man yells, jerking his hand with the gun aggressively. “Don’t you dare fucking say my name, Buckley.” In which things get bad fast when Buck's neighbor breaks into his apartment thinking that he isn't home.
The Blazin' Challenge by datleggy - Rated G
Buck has an allergic reaction at buffalo wild wings and the firefam is there for him. Also they finally realize Buck and Eddie are an item--by accident.
not ready to let go by theosbuckley - Rated G
"Hey, Eddie!" Chim calls him as he leaves the fire station, "This came in for you, there's no return address." Eddie's heart drops almost immediately and he rushes to Chim, almost ripping the envelope from his hand. "Woah there, this better not be some weird fetish thing." "Shut up Chim!" He snaps back. It's Ok Now by datleggy - Rated G
On his day off, Buck takes Christopher to the doctor--just for a cold, no big deal--until it suddenly might be and Buck is alone and nobody is picking up their phone.
we're gonna be okay, kid by honestlydarkprincess - Rated G
The last thing Buck is expecting is to be woken up from his ill advised mid-morning nap with a call from Christopher's school, telling him that Chris is sick and should go home. He can't leave his favourite kid to fend for himself so even though Eddie might get mad at him, again, he's on his way to pick up Chris before he can even think about it. Set during the lawsuit, post-grocery store scene.
a leaf falls on loneliness by iimpossible_things - Not Rated
Buck doesn’t think that if he were to say, “I’m in a bad place”, that anyone would turn him away. Really, he doesn’t. The 118 has too many good, kind people for that. But every time he wants to open his mouth, to say something, to reach out to Eddie or Bobby or Hen or Chim, he hears Eddie yelling, “you’re exhausting.” —you’re exhausting, you’re exhausting, you’re exhausting— So each day he does his job and he laughs and he jokes and he pretends he’s the care-free goofball he’s always been. And each day he packs away his bruises and his worries, takes them home to his empty loft with its quiet rooms, and licks his wounds in silence.
Buy Back the Secrets by allyasavedtheday - Rated T
He casts his gaze to the right, to the voice he’d heard a minute ago and the hand still on his shoulder. And, well. Okay. So Buck may have just been unconscious for an indeterminable length of time but he doesn’t think he’s exaggerating when he says the guy leaning over his bedside is one of the most attractive people he’s seen in a long time. Especially when his face splits into a smile that rivals the brightness of the hospital lights that almost just fucking blinded Buck a second ago. “Welcome back, hotshot,” the guy says and it sounds fond – familiar – and Buck honestly has no idea who this guy is. His brown hair is dishevelled on top of his head and his eyes look tired but then Buck notices the LAFD t-shirt so- alright. Someone from the firehouse, maybe? But he’s pretty sure he’d remember a face like that. * After getting hurt on a call, Buck wakes up thinking it's 2018. AKA Buck can't remember who Eddie is but he's pretty sure everyone's lying when they say they're "just friends."
Leave the Light On (I'll Be Coming Home) by HMSLusitania - Rated M
“We’re here for our grandson,” Helena says. “Chris is still sleeping,” Buck says. “I meant, we’re here to take him back to Texas,” Helena clarifies. “Yeah,” Buck says. He’s too tired, way too tired to be tactful. “Over my dead body.” -- An accident on a call leaves Buck with custody of Chris after Eddie is... missing presumed. While they navigate their new family circumstances -- and fight to stay together, despite Eddie's parents' best efforts -- a John Doe wakes up in a coma ward with no memory of his own life beyond the knowledge he has a son named Christopher and, somehow, he needs to get home.
Of Bikes and Concussions by datleggy - Rated G
Buck gets into an accident on his way to work in the morning, and before he can explain why he's late, he gets thoroughly chewed out and the rest of his day goes way downhill from there.

Finally back with the team, Buck isn’t going to let anything tear him away again. He has to prove his place, his part in the family, even if that means smiling through the pain. Or, Buck gets hurt on a call and doesn’t tell anyone.
don't tell my husband (he'll kill me) by coupe_de_foudre - Rated T
All Bobby has to say, as Buck is hightailing it towards danger, is a low, threatening, “Don’t make me call Eddie.” and Buck will skid to a stop, pause, and eventually turn around and slink back towards the team like a scolded dog with his tail between his legs.
Frequent Flyer by red_to_black - Rated M
In his entire time being a firefighter, Eddie has never met anyone as accident-prone as Evan Buckley. And Buck - well, he's quickly becoming the 118's best customer. (Or - the one where Eddie is a firefighter, Buck isn't, and Eddie finds himself rescuing Buck from increasingly sticky situations. Sometimes literally.)
Love Language by red_to_black - Not Rated
The one in which there's too much pollen around, Eddie pines, and Buck is oblivious. Or - Eddie's love language is acts of service, and Buck doesn't totally get it.
17 Steps to Inevitability by allyasavedtheday - Rated T
“Thanks for clearing it with Cap,” he says lowly, feeling oddly self-conscious under Buck’s knowing gaze. Because just Buck shrugs like it’s not a big deal, claps him on the shoulder and squeezes once. “Of course,” he says earnestly. “I told you he wouldn’t mind.” Eddie swallows back an emotion he doesn’t know how to name and bumps their shoulders together as they head for the stairs. He’d forgotten friendship could be like this, forgotten what the unconditional support of having a team around him felt like. He’s not sure he’s ever had friends like this though. * Eddie doesn't plan for Buck to become part of his and Christopher's family; it just sort of happens. He doesn't plan to fall in love with Buck either; that just sort of happens too.
waiting on the sunrise by autumnchills - Rated T
When Buck left home, it was a rushed decision. He didn’t know where he was going or what he was going to do, but he had a high school diploma and enough street smarts to make it as far from his father as possible.
It's been nearly ten years since then, and now his father is in town. Buck quickly learns that some things haven't changed.
But other things have, and his family will help him realize that.
Whiplash by soft_satan - Rated G
She parked near him and got out, avoiding the puddle as she approached him. Hands on her hips, she shook her head in pity. “What on earth happened to you?” He looked up at her with a pained smile, his shoulders instantly sagging with relief at the sight of her. “I got carjacked.” ... Thanks to a lack of communication, a horrific accident leads the team to fear the worst.

Chapter 18: Bitter Taste
Tumblr media
Luther was sitting in his bed and staring out at the Kugelblitz when Five entered his room. “Hey.” The boy greeted, beginning to pace the area.
“Hey, how long do we have left?” He responded.
“A couple hours. Could be more, could be less. Where’s Sloane?”
“Raiding the wine cellar for our end of the world party. Where’s (Y/N)?”
“She wanted some space for a little bit. To think over it all.” He sighed, stuffing his hands into his pockets. “So, I guess you guys know which way you’re voting.”
Luther nodded. “You’re more than welcome to join us.”
“I’m still on the fence on that one. I saw something last night that I was not supposed to see.”
“Diego and Lila.” He raised his brows. “Yeah, they do it on the stairs sometimes.”
Five frowned in disgust. “No, I saw Dad. He was in his room with someone. He was making some kind of deal. Before you ask, I don’t know what the deal was or who it was with. Everything is a blur.”
Luther shrugged. “Wasn’t me or Sloane. We were, uh, busy doing other things last night.” He smugly smiled, Five rolling his eyes.
“Yeah, I get it, Luther. Thank you. Everyone was boning everyone last night.”
“How did you and (Y/N) even manage to hook up in every hallway?”
“Focus, please.” He sighed and walked up to his brother. “That story about the bells? There’s something Dad’s not telling us. Think about it. When has the old man ever been straight with us?”
“I don’t know, he was pretty ruthless in our performance reviews.”
Five furrowed his brows. “He always gave me five stars.”
“Really?”
“Look, I’m old enough to trust my instinct, and it’s telling me this is a trap.” He paused to watch Luther’s reaction, his brother staring at him with an unreadable expression. Five shrugged. “Food for thought.”
He left Luther there to further ponder his decision. When Five entered the White Buffalo Suite, he didn’t expect to see (Y/N) already there, lounging across one of the fur sofas with a bottle in her hand. She snapped her head up at him when she heard his footsteps, but laid back down in relief. “Thought you were Dad…”
“And I thought you weren’t gonna drink before the vote.”
She grumbled to herself as she watched him walk about the room, seemingly in search of something. She raised a brow in curiosity. “Did you lose a quarter in here or something?”
“Or something, yes.” He walked up to her and took the bottle, taking a few gulps from it and handing it back. “I’ve been thinking. This whole plan Dad’s got is not what it seems. I don’t trust him.”
“I don’t, either. Not in the slightest.” (Y/N) sat up, her gaze trained on the fur rug beneath her feet. “But think about it… What if it does work, Five? I could get my babies back.”
“And I want that, too, Starlight,” He knelt down in front of her, gently holding her hands in his. “But something is not right about this. You know what he did, (Y/N). I don’t have to remind you. That is not a different Reginald Hargreeves.”
(Y/N) closed her eyes, her mind racing behind her eyelids. Her feelings on the matter of the situation were what wasn’t to be trusted. Every other second she contemplated, she always ended up taking a different side of the argument. She didn’t know if she could trust herself to vote for the fate of the universe. Not with her state of mind.
Five shook her hands to gain her attention. “Hey. I’m not gonna let you hide behind my decision. Your mind is yours to make up and I don’t want you worrying what I’ll think of your decision, okay?” He nodded, standing up in satisfaction when she nodded back. “But before you contemplate any further, I think it’d be wise to tell you that during our adventure last night, I came across a conversation.”
“When?” She frowned. “Weren’t we around each other the whole time?”
“You were too out of it to hear it, but whatever was going on between Dad and whoever he was talking to was secret. Not only was it secret, but it was very suspicious.” He heavily sighed. “I don’t know, Starlight. I don’t know, but I don’t trust anything about his plan…”
Less than an hour later, the group had formed at the staircase near the elevator. Before them stood Allison. “To start this off, (Y/N) told me that she will not be voting. She doesn’t want her ‘erratic emotions’ to interfere with our votes. At least, that’s what she told me. Do you still stand by that, (Y/N)?”
“I do.” The girl quietly responded from beside Five, arms crossed and head bowed. Allison nodded, her eyes saying something else entirely.
“Well, with that, I think you can all guess which way I’ll be voting. We’ve all been through a lot. We’ve all lost people.” She gave a fleeting look to Five. “... Mannequins… But their deaths have to mean something. Which is why I’ll be voting to go with Dad.”
Lila stepped off the staircase and hissed at Diego, “What she said,” before going to stand with Allison. “Let’s go save the bloody universe!”
“Whoo-hoo!” Klaus cheered with her.
“Alright, well, since she said yes…” Diego stood on the staircase. “I vote stay. How’s that for nice?”
She scoffed. “You’re not being serious.”
Allison looked from Lila to Diego with a hardly-suppressed glare. “It’s his vote, Lila. Klaus?”
“I am with Father.” He motioned towards Reginald, who hummed and turned to Ben. His reliable and loyal Number Two nodded at him. Allison saw this and turned back to the rest.
“Okay, that’s four to one. Viktor?”
Viktor hesitated with a sigh. “Look, I wanna believe, okay? I really do. I can’t just shake the feeling we don’t know what we’re getting ourselves into.”
“No, but we know what we’ve got if we don’t. We have to go into this together.” She hopefully looked around at the unspoken voters before turning back to her brother. “Viktor… A family.”
He groaned. “You can’t just keep throwing the word ‘family’ around. I mean, it isn’t enough. I vote stay.”
Allison clenched her jaw and swallowed. “Luther?”
Said male looked up from where he sat with Sloane on the stairs. “Um… Sloane and I talked, and, well, we’re out. Look, we wanna spend whatever time we have left together, and not… fighting some guy with a sword and… ringing bells and stuff. So…”
Viktor shrugged. “Well, dead end. Four in, four out.”
“That leaves you, Number Five.” Reginald said. Five stared at him for a moment in suspicion before taking a deep breath.
“I saw the future, and it told me to sit this one out. I vote stay. It’s time we accept our fate.”
The room fell silent as the gravity of the situation settled in. And, as if to deepen the anxiety, thunder from the whirlwind outside the hotel clapped and rumbled through the halls, leaving them shaken in more ways than one. Allison looked to her sister, desperate for a save.
“(Y/N), are you sure you don’t wanna vote?”
(Y/N) refused to look up. “What does it matter? We’ve already weighed, and we’re leaning on one side.”
“It would… still be nice to hear your opinion on the matter.”
“I doubt it.”
Reginald went to speak, but it was like she could feel him open his mouth.
“Don’t start with any of that ‘my child’ shit. I don’t wanna hear it.”
Allison wiped at her face in frustration. “(Y/N), please. Just- Just what if you put the vote at another dead end?”
“Yeah, what if? Nothing happens and we stay? We say ‘fuck it’ and go anyway? What’s your big plan for a tie?”
“We could figure out more options!”
(Y/N) huffed and picked her head up. “Fine. You wanna know what I think? I want my babies back, I want my niece back, I want my dog back, I want the world to stop falling apart, and I want to be done with this bullshit apocalypse routine.” Her glare directed itself right at Reginald, a flash of venom in her eyes. “But I’m not following you into anything. That’s my final statement.”
Reginald bowed his head in shame as she turned her back to the group, her arms crossed tighter over her chest. Allison looked between the two of them before stepping closer to her sister. “So, that’s it? You’re gonna let your anger towards Dad keep you from going back to-”
“Don’t.” She snarled. “Don’t do it. Don’t say it. I didn’t say it to you, so don’t even try it with me.”
Allison glared at her and shook her head. “You’re pathetic, (Y/N).” She growled before walking away. The girl turned her head back forward, biting her lip as tears pricked the corners of her eyes. Sensing her incoming breakdown, Five reached out for her, but she brushed him off and hurried out of the room, sniffling as she went.
“Why can’t we go in there, just the four of us?” Ben asked Reginald.
“That would mean certain failure. There must be seven.” He answered before turning to everyone in the room. “Children… I can’t say I’m happy with this. But I see now the blame falls on me. I failed you when you were young, and I have failed you now. And in doing so, I have doomed the entire universe… If anyone needs me, I’ll be in the courtyard… awaiting the end.”
As he left the room, Ben glared at the lot of them. “Idiots.” He hissed before leaving as well. A brief silence passed before Viktor decided to speak up.
“Was that a real apology?”
“The man’s never apologized for anything in his life.” Luther shook his head.
“I actually feel bad for him.” Diego quietly said.
“Don’t worry. It’ll pass.” Five falsely smiled before he began to walk away. “Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to comfort my wife in her final moments. See you around. It’s been… interesting.”
At first, he had momentarily forgotten he had the power of teleportation, but once he had gotten over the memory lapse, Five found himself within his hotel room in second. As soon as his signature whoosh sounded, (Y/N) quickly cleared her face of the tears and sniffled up any shred of dignity she had left.
“You know, you don’t have to hide anything from me.” He softly said as he approached her. “After all, we did promise ourselves to each other. That means I’m not afraid to see you in any form.”
(Y/N) shook her head as Five took a seat on the bed beside her. Silently, the two clasped hands and stared down at their knees. They both had their individual reasonings for voting against going into Oblivion, but they both centered around not trusting their father. Not only had he completely broken (Y/N), but he was keeping something crucial from everyone while risking them at the same time.
Five felt immense guilt for turning his back on his wife. Yes, she chose the same side as him, but he knew that if what happened with her Sparrow self didn’t happen, she would have tied the vote. If she wasn’t so suspicious, then she would have gone into Oblivion with the hopes of seeing Michael and Jada again. He knew that if she didn’t have him or her siblings, then she would end up in the same state of mind as Allison, as much as he hated to admit it.
Five has known his wife far too long enough to know that her lashing out at Reginald was her tipping point. The murder in her eyes was one he had seen in too many Commission member’s eyes, it was a murder he hoped were never in his own eyes when he did his jobs. She was hardening and becoming distrusting. And while she had every right to, it was never something she did. He worried for her.
“Do you… wanna talk about it?”
She sighed. “I don’t know if I did the right thing…”
“With the vote?”
“Yeah,” She nodded. “Every decision I make now, I just wonder what she would do… And I don’t like to think about it, but Sparrow (Y/N) would have marched right through that door with Dad behind her, just so he could stab her right in the back. And I’ll be damned if I let that happen to me…”
He held her hand tighter as she continued. “But then I remember that none of it fucking matters because either way, we’re gonna die. Either by a blackhole or some psychopathic finger collector… I don’t know, I guess I’m glad for this Kugelblitz to come and take us.”
“Why?”
“Because I finally get to die…”
When she looked up, she instantly averted her eyes from Five’s horrified look. “You don’t understand, Five. My kids are gone… They’re not here and I don’t wanna be here, either. I know everyone wants me to keep fighting, but Five, I have been fighting. You guys just don’t understand what this feels like. To have your kids ripped from you over and over timeline after timeline. I’m so exhausted. I can’t, I just can’t anymore…”
Five wrapped his arms tightly around her as she broke out into sobs. Now more than ever, he felt extremely guilty. “Please, Starlight… I know, I know it feels impossible, but you can’t do that to yourself. I’ve done that before…”
“You have?” She looked up at him. He brushed away her tears with his thumbs as he stared into her eyes.
“I watched you die. Three times. And every time you died, I died. It broke me in a way the apocalypse never could’ve. I thought there was no reason to keep going on through a world without you. It didn’t feel right or fair to live without you. But I’m so glad I never let your smile fade from my memory… because I don’t think I’d be here.”
(Y/N) sadly smiled and gently rubbed his arm with one of her hands. “I wish I could have a timeline with all of you with me… I don’t think I’d ever be sad again in a world like that.”
He returned her smile and gently kissed her forehead. “I love you.” He tenderly whispered.
“I love you, too, bub. Thank you for being an amazing husband.”
“I can hardly say I did much to earn that title, but I am eternally grateful for your existence as well.”
They shared a soft laugh and deeply gazed into each other’s eyes. Ever since Five and (Y/N) reached the age in which they understood the concept of romance, they had felt it for each other. There was nothing in the world, nothing in the universe that could keep them from loving each other.
It was an unconditional love bound by selflessness and patience to last them throughout the years they didn’t have each other. Courage and heart tied them down in their most trying times while acceptance and influence reassured them that they truly deserved each other. Their comfort for one another paired with fearless honesty never left one wondering what the other was thinking, what they were holding back.
They had faced many fatal scenes in their lives, but nothing struck fear in their hearts more than losing each other. It was the precise reason they were so comfortable and content in their current situation, because at least they had each other in their last moments.
“Starlight?”
“Yes, bub?”
“What do you say to one last meal together?”
“I say… you whip up something while I scrounge what’s left of the booze.”
“I’ll meet you back here.”
With one final kiss, the two were out of the room and in different parts of the hotel. It hadn’t taken Five long to find food, as there always seemed to be endless amounts of food in the kitchen, even at the end of the world. After he had piled everything he could find on a tray, he headed back up to the floor his room was.
When he did, though, his steps began to slow. Flashes of images from the night before flew through his mind. Even though it hardly mattered now, seeing as they were not going through with Reginald’s plan, something was still nagging at him. While Five would have loved to return to his wife, he knew that his last moments with her would be filled with dread if he didn’t find the missing pieces of what he had witnessed. Besides, (Y/N) wasn’t back from finding alcohol yet, so he had time.
As he continued to roam the halls, Viktor rounded a corner and spotted him. “What are you doing?”
Five turned to face his approaching brother. “Getting a date together with (Y/N), but now I’m retracing my steps.”
“Why?”
“The old man is hiding something.”
As Five went back to “retracing”, Viktor hummed in uncertainty. “Yeah, feels like there’s a lot of that going around…”
“How do you mean?” Five turned back to him, curious.
“Allison apologized to me.”
“Okay, and that’s suspicious, how?”
“Last night, she was ready to go ten rounds with me at the wedding, and this morning it’s all… family and Dad and love. I don’t know, something must have happened last night, but I don’t know what-”
The clanging of the tray against the ground interrupted Viktor’s thought process as Five ran his now free hands through his hair. Of course, how could he have so easily dismissed it? The answer was literally in his face. The sudden apologies to Luther and Viktor and (Y/N), the foreseeable loyalty to Reginald, the desperation to fix the universe…
“There is no time.”
He remembered now.
“I can’t do this without you.”
It was her.
“Do we have a deal?”
It was-
“Allison… It’s Allison!”
“What is?”
From the White Buffalo Suite, Sloane’s heart-wrenching scream of protest could be heard. The two shared a brief look of confusion before bolting in the direction of the room.
Upon entering, their hearts and breathing stuttered at the sight of Sloane shakily hovering over Luther’s dead body, his limp head resting in her lap. Her bloodied hands trembled near the long, deep slash through his chest with his blood trailing into the stained fur carpet below him.
“Oh my god, Luther.” Viktor gasped as he walked up to them.
“What happened?” Five asked.
“He went to go get ice. I couldn’t-” Sloane’s words were cut off by a sob as she shook her head. “He didn’t come back. I… I don’t know…”
He turned to inspect the room. Lila and Diego stood beside the slightly ajar door to Oblivion, Klaus stood to the side and tried his best to fight off his tears, Ben was brooding in a chair near the scene, Allison was slumped on the floor with teary eyes blankly staring forward, her hands stained red. But he was more focused on (Y/N).
She stood beside Sloane, her eyes wide in horror as they seemingly glued themselves to her brother’s corpse. She didn’t blink at all since he had looked at her and her entire body trembled, bloodied hands twitching at her sides. Just as he suspected, she was trapped in a time that had torn her apart.
(Y/N) couldn’t get the blood out of her mind. The organs. The mangled mess of what was Sparrow (Y/N). She didn’t want to think of it, but every time she looked at Luther, she was sent back to a time she thought she was recovering from. The walls were suddenly closing in on her and her breathing was becoming shallower and shallower.
Unwillingly, her body slowly turned away from her brother as tears rushed down her face. Everything was so loud, her heart thumping in her ears along with the rushing blood through her veins. The room was spinning and her knees were weakening. Just as they gave out on her, she felt two hands stabling her.
“Hey, hey. Look at me. Look at me, Starlight.” Five’s muffled voice broke through. (Y/N) turned her head to him, but couldn’t respond, all mumbles and stutters dying on her tongue. “Breathe. Breathe, (Y/N).”
“I-I can’t- Th- The blood and… The b-b-lood a-a-and Luther-”
“Breathe.”
As Five took her aside to calm her down, Lila looked to Diego. “It must have been him. The guardian.”
“She’s right,” Diego rasped, kneeling down beside Luther and Sloane. “Whatever did this had a long curved blade.”
“How… How can you be sure?” Viktor shakily asked.
“I don’t know much, but I know knives.”
To complete the group, Reginald entered the room. “Children, what’s going on?” His strides abruptly stopped at the scene. “Oh, god! Luther…”
Five looked away from his wife to frown at Reginald, suspicions raised highly.
“If we attacked first, he would still be alive…” Ben rumbled, his glare moving up to Viktor, who looked away guiltily.
Everything literally shifted when the room began to shake, an explosion going off that threw everyone to a stumble. Peeking out of the room, Ben’s eyes widened at the halls that fell into themselves and surrendered to the approaching blinding light.
“G-Guys?!” He hurried back inside. “Hey, guys!”
“What are we gonna do with Luther?” Sloane panickedly looked around.
“Okay, we’re out of time!” Five announced. “The Kugelblitz is here!”
Reginald rushed to the door that Lila widened. “Everyone into the passage! It’s the only way!” He shouted, ushering the lot inside. Viktor quickly stopped Diego when he saw him grab the harpoon gun.
“You agreed to stay!”
“They killed Luther, alright?!” He moved around him to get to (Y/N), who was fearfully looking around. It was clear that she was not completely snapped out of her nightmare, as their situation was most likely not aiding in calming her down. “We gotta go, sis, come on!”
(Y/N) flinched away from him. Still mourning her husband, Sloane looked up. “We can’t leave him…”
Allison dropped down to help her up. “We go now, or we’re gonna die.”
“No, god…” She weeped and looked down at him, gently kissing his face. “I love you.” She whispered before standing and running through the door.
“Let’s go, let’s go now!” Diego yelled as he ran in. “Come on, (Y/N)!”
She shakily inhaled and stepped closer to the door. Klaus ran up to her and gently held her trembling arms, helping her through the entrance. “Alright, dear, there you go. Now run. Run, (Y/N), go!”
Seeing (Y/N) go through the door, Five had no reason to stay here any further.
“Come on!” Klaus urged him. “Come on! What are you waiting for?!”
Five seethed at Reginald. “This isn’t over!” He hissed and rushed in after his wife.
“Get in the tunnel!” He could hear Klaus shout to Reginald from behind him.

veggietales review e1: where's god when i'm s-scared?
overall rating: 10/10
Tumblr media
honestly sets the standard for veggietales episodes going forward. it's not the funniest ever but it is like pretty good all things considered so it gets a perfect score (i will not be this nice in the future)
some of my fave things:
-i love larry's original deeper, dopier voice. idc.
-frankencelery could def be scary to a kid wtf.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-i LOVE THE 90s COMPUTER ANIMATION!!! yes it's flat it's simple it's got the classic diagonal stretches (lattice animation!! squishy!!) it's amazing. the way the eyes bulge, the very particular fast zooms. so classic veggietales.
-QWERTY i love her so much <3333
Tumblr media
some silly things:
-"my name is lucy anderson and I am 6 years old" (mr.) // "stop being so silly!!!" ok was it visher or nawrocki who liked python be real.
Tumblr media
-(larry pops up out of the toybox wearing a baby bonnet) it's a baby pickle? i'm a cucumber -_-
-anyone else think mom and dad asparagus are kinda hot.
-(when you're scared) "what are you going to do?" "i'm gonna call the police!" "NO!--"
-i love the classic veggietale sillyhumor. like the lions are gonna ly-on you! what the hell. they have a whole bit about how dumb that is. there's a lot of meta things for sure but i don't think i missed them the first time. i think what veggietales does do well is it speaks to the kid and a lot of those jokes are not hard to miss (i think?)
-"god is bigger than the boogieman" "so he's scarier?!" lmfao
ummmmisc.:
-okay i know for a fact that certain things from veggietales et. al. severely damaged my brain for the future. ie. the slushy being slopped all over everyone in the jericho episode. so this is a no judgement zone. does the way frankencelery bounces seem like erotic to anyone else.
-also the dark eyeliner on the lead rapscallion. like they were setting me up to think bad guys were hot.
-furthermore, the way they threaten to beat Daniel up. "use him as a footstool, beat him up, throw him out of babylon". ummmmm.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
losing my religion segment:
-okay so God's law just made Daniel get himself thrown into prison for no good reason. sounds so real and not like a coping mechanism for dealing with horrible things happening to you. also they just (of course) brush over the way Daniel was stolen away from his home? they say "taken" from home but like. it was a lot more violent. and they oversimplify the shit out of the whole story in general. obviously! i know they can't go into much depth at all it's just shocking watching it as an adult!
SILLY SONG REVIEW!!!
rating: WATER BUFFALO SONG- S tier
also, the "god is bigger than the boogieman" song is really incredible. first of all the choreography and then the creepy organ too. they went all in. and the KING DARIUS SUITE!! it's like unlocking facets of my brain that have been shut since i was 8 years old. really good episode for music. NOT TO MENTION OH NO WHAT WE GONNA DO!!!!! amazing. jfc (not the lord's name in vain if I abbreviate)
WELL FOLKS. that's all the time we have for today! don't forget that you're special and that the universe cares for you despite it all.

The Miracle Mind of Serene: the Tale of a Girl and a Ghost (Chapter 2)
Previous Chapter
Index
---
18/01/2018
Serene swung back in her chair as she turned to face her phone, her telekinesis typing away at the computer without her even looking. “So! First of all, Mortis, I’m going to need you to gather up all of the information you can think of about Richard.”
“Well,” the phone blared out in that deep, distorted voice that it had whenever Mortis was talking through it. “He’s a bitch.”
Serene shook her head. “No, no, I mean anything that can help identify him. Stuff like surname, species, address, age at the time you, er… died.”
“Well…” Mortis paused for a moment, the only sound being that of Serene’s keyboard going clickety clackety on its own. “He was around 20, 30 years old, and… well I don’t know what his address was, but the people he brought into the United Federation arrived by boat on the South-East coast, and he’s a rat - that’s both literal and an insult.”
“Mortis, you can’t just call someone a rat like that.”
“... He’s a bitch. Is that there.”
“That’s… I suppose…” Serene turned back to the screen as the keyboard finished typing, her initial search starting. “Say, when did you die again?”
“1967.”
Serene stopped entirely, slowly turning in her seat to look at the phone. “... The 60s? Do-... Do you know how old he’d be then?”
“Yeah, yeah, he’d be like 50 or something.”
“No, he’s going to be 70 at the very least, maybe even 80.”
“... Fuck me.”
“He’ll be an old man who’s lived through most of his life by now,” Serene explained. “You sure you still want to find him? And not, I don’t know, find something else to do?”
“No. Finding him and drinking milk are the only two things I want now.”
“But-” Serene blinked in surprise at that last statement. “Wait, milk? I-”
“Milk is fucking delicious.”
She shrugged. “Alright, fair enough… But, well, what are you really going to do once you’ve found him and you’ve given him a piece of your mind?”
Mortis was quiet for a moment, before speaking up. “I assume I’d just fade away on the spot, like this is that unfinished business kind of deal.”
“You assume?” Serene asked aloud, staring at Mortis for longer. “Don’t you know what being a ghost even means? Maybe from other ghosts or-”
“Nah,” Mortis interrupted her outright. “I’m the only one I’ve ever known of, so I have to guess at what’s going on.’
That was when the doorbell suddenly rang, Serene flicking her head over to the approximate entrance.
“Eugh,” Serene grunted out as she rolled her eyes. “Just a moment, Mortis.”
“Why? What is it?”
“Oh, probably just a fan wanting to meet me,” she explained. “I always get some from time to time. Hard not to be famous when you’re the only psychic in the world.”
Mortis let out a huff, dropping out of the phone and following along behind Serene.
Serene immediately put on a smile moments before opening up the front door.
What she wasn’t expecting to see was a male buffalo in a suit, his I.D. labelling him as a government agent. “Serene Cirillo, you’re under arrest.”
Serene paused, her eyes slowly going wide as her smile faded very quickly. “Wh… Under what charges?” she mumbled out. Already her body was getting tense, hand clenching the door handle tightly.
“You violated your official agreement and went off surveillance”. The officer moved aside to escort Serene out.
Serene cleared her throat, holding out her hand. “Let me get my lawyer, because there’s clearly been a mistake-”
“At 9:01 PM last night you went off surveillance without approval.”
Serene glared at him, her eyes starting to have a faint white glow. “... I got approval. You can check the voice logs at 6:13 PM yesterday, the 17th.” She didn’t question how she knew the exact time down to the minute, right at this moment she knew something was wrong. Afterall, how could they forget? They never forgot.
The officer didn’t react beyond speaking further. “It likely is a misunderstanding, then, but until it’s cleared up you’re coming with us.” He then moved aside to give Serene the chance to walk out peacefully.
Serene hesitated, before seeing Mortis pass by and possess the agent right in front of her. “Mortis, no!” She held him in place, Mortis unable to even check the agent for any weapons. “Get out of him, now!”
“You know it’s bullshit,” Mortis hissed out in the officer’s voice. “There’s no way that they just-”
“Just stop,” Serene cut him off without pausing. “This is just going to make things worse. I’ll just get this misunderstanding sorted out, it won’t be long at all. Please.”
There was a long pause. Before finally Serene could see Mortis leave.
Serene then let the agent go, watching him drop to his knees as he hacked and coughed.
“I am following you now,” she explained immediately. “I am exercising my right to remain silent.”
The officer glared at her, but said nothing else as he let her lock the front door before cuffing her and bringing her along.
---
“Name?”
“Serene Cirillo.” God, even in interrogations Serene was still being asked the same routine.
“Age?”
“21.” Not a single thing had changed, despite the fact that it was a police officer instead of a neuroscientist.
“Occupation?”
“Can we just skip to the actual interrogations please?” Serene complained, getting to her feet. “It’s me, the psychic girl, and I can prove I’m the psychic girl real quick by using my psychic powers.”
With that she lifted herself off the ground, hovering for a few seconds before she landed back down. “Is that good? Do you believe that I’m the psychic girl now?”
The officer looked to Serene with a raised brow, but sat down in his chair all the same. “My apologies, miss Cirillo, I didn’t mean to upset you.”
Serene dropped back down onto the chair, putting her hand on her forehead. “Thank you, it’s just… It’s been stressful. Today and yesterday.”
The officer nodded. “I understand why it’s so stressful, but hopefully we can resolve this swiftly. It says here that you’re under supervision due to your unique psychic powers.”
Serene didn’t say a word, instead nodding.
“And it says here you’re under arrest for endangering others via illegally interrupting that supervision-”
“6:03 PM yesterday, I rang up to organise my given week of no surveillance,” Serene repeated. “It’s in the logs.”
“I’m sorry, miss Cirillo,” the officer said with what seemed to be a genuine look of disappointment. “But the logs have already been provided, and there was no call from you yesterday.”
Serene’s eyes began glowing white again, silent as she processed this information. “... It must have been tampered with, then. I can provide evidence, too.”
The officer raised his brow again, looking back to Serene. “And what evidence is that?”
“Oh, it’s-” she paused, cogs turning in her head. They couldn’t have forgotten. And… And Mortis had to turn the surveillance off on her end… Why is she only realising now? They’re doing this on purpose. “... Actually, can I speak with Mortis first, please? He’s the ghost that’s been following around.”
The officer was very clearly trying to hold back a laugh, every fibre in his being telling him that laughter was a very poor action to take. Despite all of that, he still failed, a quick chuckle escaping his lips. “R-right,” he said, trying to regain composure - but it was already too late.
Serene blinked, looking over to the ball of fire that only she could see. “Mortis, can you hear me?”
Mortis obliged and flew into the officer, his posture abruptly changing. “Yeah, yeah, the sooner you’re done with this the sooner we can get back to business.”
Serene gave a nod. “Right. Before you even answer me, just ASAP, can you fly back home and into my phone, please? Guard it, just in case-”
She saw Mortis leave the officer’s body as he flew directly up.
At that same moment, the officer was hacking and coughing intensely, almost falling off of his seat. He slowly sat back up, eyes wide in realisation that he was just possessed for nothing more than a brief conversation. “You- the ghost- I-”
Serene nodded. “I haven’t been lying at any point in this interrogation, I promise.”
The officer let out a heavy sigh, getting to his feet. “Well for your sake, I hope you’re right. Don’t worry about Mortis, we’ll make sure the phone stays locked up in evidence until it’s time for the court case.”
With that, the officer turned and left the interrogation room, leaving Serene sitting there alone.
He turned to an officer that was waiting just outside, whispering into his ear. “There’s evidence in her phone, wipe it immediately. Don’t bring any weapons, and stick to a group of three or larger at all times. We don’t know what this ghost is willing to do, but he is real.”
---
Mortis had made his way back to Serene’s home (knowing full well in the back of his head that Serene’s bleeding heart was going to make him make it up for the unfortunate driver he used to get here).
The door was still locked, but that was no trouble, as he just phased through the door to get to the other side.
Guarding the phone… was going to be boring. As Mortis prepared himself for the dull task, he noticed something.
Serene’s computer was still on. And it was on a webpage. He slowly moved into the computer monitor right away, looking to see what he could.
He couldn’t scroll.
After a few awkward moments of moving between the monitor and the mouse, he managed to see what was on this webpage. Information on Richard. It looked like he founded a restaurant called the Delicious Den.
He could just go there, and linger until he found the little rat and-
Oh, he loved it so much.
… But they knew he’d be searching for Richard now, surely. Now it’s only a matter of Richard changing restaurants and he’d be back at square one. He couldn’t have that.
At least now he was getting help from that naive little girl, at least now he had a back-up if things went back to square one. So when he left the monitor, he made his way into the phone. He then lifted the phone up all the way to the roof. Might as well make it impossible to spot while he waited.
He might be able to make the machine do whatever he wanted, but that didn’t mean he knew how to navigate the web. Maybe now was the time to practice, while he’s stuck inside.
He tried to use this fancy schmancy search bar to find something to watch.
a… c… t… i… o… n… space… m… o… v… i… e… s…
Enter?
Ahah, that worked!
… What is all of this rubbish? Why does it look so fake? And why’s this one called volume 2? Guess they just can’t make movies anymore…
---
25/01/2018
Serene was confident that she’d come out of this court case with a success. Her lawyer was unusually incompetent, and the prosecutor was a clear expert, expertly weaving his words into compelling nothings. By all accounts, anyone would think this was a complete disaster.
But thanks to Mortis, she knew that her phone was safe.
And right she was, as when it came time to present that phone to court, the evidence that she had made the call was right in there, time and everything. Even despite the prosecutor trying to argue that the audio was faked, there was nothing he could say to throw it away as evidence.
So she was rather pleased with herself as she walked out of court as they pronounced her innocent, even managing to successfully argue for a full month of no surveillance. It was while she was walking out that a grizzly bear stepped out, wearing a government suit. It was the person in charge of her experimentation, General Thomas.
“Congratulations on the court case,” he spoke warmly, extending a hand. “I hope there’s no hard feelings, miss Cirillo.”
Oh, there were plenty of hard feelings. But Serene didn’t share any of them as she shook his hand. His grip was unusually fierce, her hand even hurting a little from it. “It’s okay, General. But I will be making sure the surveillance is actually off from now on. Hope you understand.”
He looked her right in the eyes with his good eye as he ended the handshake. Behind the smile Serene could see something focused, calculating.
“Of course, you can never be too careful. I’ll likewise be making sure that this embarrassment doesn’t happen again.”
Serene nodded, stepping to the side. “Well then, I’ll be seeing you for your next scheduled experiment in a month. Might even ask for two hours in exchange. Bye bye~” As she continued walking, she briefly twirled around in order to wave at him, smiling wide. Now it was a simple case of making her way to the bus stop.
An ear piercing, high pitched screech rang out from her phone, immediately followed by an annoyed huff from Mortis’s hellish voice.
“Wait for me, why don’t you?”
Serene let out a small giggle, turning the voice speaker off before putting the phone to her ear, as if she was making a phone call rather than talking with her ghost friend. “I did, I was talking with the man who was probably behind all of that. The big grizzly bear.”
“Oh him? He was angry as fuck, definitely trying not to swear in public.”
Serene let out a sigh, slowly shaking his head. “I really can’t believe they’d do this. I spent my whole life trusting them, and… eugh. I’m so glad I can trust you to help me out when I need it, I don’t know what I would’ve done with somebody.”
There was a small silence before Mortis answered. “Of course you can trust me.”
Serene smiled wide. She knew she could trust him, she had made the right call. It was then that the bus arrived. “Just a sec,” she said before lowering the phone.
Once she was on and seated, she brought the phone back to her ear. “And back.”
“Thank god, I was dying of boredom.”
Serene rolled her eyes. “Now that that’s dealt with, we’re going to continue looking into your reunion, aren’t we?”
“Sure am, while nobody was at your house I quickly checked what you left open on your computer. Richard was apparently the founder of some Delicious Den place.”
“Right, but…” Serene briefly pauses to look around, noting that around half of the bus has noticed her, some giving occasional looks, some trying to avoid eye contact entirely, and the few kids that are on the bus staring at her in awe. “... I can’t go as Serene. And besides, I’ve just gotten a big success, I really want to spend the night celebrating.”
She heard the long, drawn out groan from Mortis. “Fine, fine. But we’re going there tomorrow, no matter what.”
---
General Thomas was slumped in his office chair, his grip on his mug unusually tight. He was glaring at the files, just knowing what the week’s papers were going to say.
Psychic Girl Found Innocent Thanks to Supernatural Intervention!
All of his plans with experimentation on this psychic girl, ruined because of this stupid little ghost! This was going to set him back years if he can’t find a way to control the situation! Where did he even come from?!
No, no, he couldn’t let failure distract him, no matter how much it humiliated him. He had to figure out why Serene had searched up information about this ‘Richard’ individual, and why this ghost is helping her. Hopefully his employees have already-
“Sir.” He didn’t move, but his eyes glancing up to the agent that entered his office told that he was paying attention. “We’re in touch with Mr. Richard, and he’s asking for our protection in exchange for his information.”
At this, Thomas looked up to the agent, a brow raising. “Protection? From what?”
“From Mortis, sir. Claims that they knew each other.”
General Thomas paused, his frown slowly fading away. This could be the key to solving this little setback. “Very well. Let’s hear him out.”

Author's Notes: I'm BACK! Decided to hit up a few of the closer Sabres games to me last week, catching both the Dallas and St. Louis games. I think I'm still trying to catch up on sleep... but it was so much fun. The Sabres fans I met at both games were a blast to cheer with. If you happened to see Waldo (of Where's Waldo fame) at the Buffalo/StL game, you found me ;) Thank you all for being patient while I took a little break from writing. And It's nearly 3am so I'm clearly back to my old self - any typos are mine and I'll probably fix them in the morning!
So where were we? Ahhh yes, Tyson and AJ found out the apartment they wanted was available... but he also has a roadie coming up. Will that throw a wrench in the plans to get moved out of the hotel and into a new home?
The next few days were a blur as Tyson was alternating between home and away games, while AJ was finalizing things for a potential move to the new apartment. She had taken the lead on getting things set up, wanting to make the transition as smooth as possible considering it was the middle of the season - moving anytime is stressful. AJ wasn’t connecting the dots though that this is the man that flies all over the continent to play hockey, waking up in different cities, different beds, wasn’t a huge deal. She was probably making it out to be more detrimental to him than it really was.
But more about the apartment, as soon as AJ took Tyson to see it, he knew that was the one. The property manager hadn’t even shown them past the first two rooms but the giddiness on AJ’s face was enough to tell him it was going to be home, at least for now. The master bedroom was huge, with an en suite bath, including both a shower and a bathtub.
(“No more waiting for you to get out of the tub so I can shower, yeah?”
“You’re just as guilty of soaking in a nice hot bath. Don’t think I didn’t notice the missing bath bomb from my basket.”
“Can’t prove it was me.”
“Your legs and torso were slightly shimmery and you smelled of lavender, Jost.”
Tyson sheepishly grinned.)
There was a guest room in case friends or family came into town. Another room that AJ could set up her computer gear, and also work on some art projects. The two figured that a sofa would be super comfy in there as well, one that could turn into a bed for even more guests if necessary. The kitchen was more than large enough for the two of them to dance while doing dishes.
AJ’s favorite part was how many windows lined the walls. She already could envision stands and shelves of plants flanking them, letting the leaves soak up the natural light that flooded the rooms through various hours of the day. To the west, Key Bank Arena and Lake Erie were visible in the distance.
Hearing of her plans, he couldn’t say no. On top of it making AJ happy, it was a short drive to both the practice rink and the arena. It was a trendy, renovated part of town that was busy with restaurants and things to see and do. They’d be up high enough on the twelfth floor to not be bothered with the street noise. It all just felt right.
Needless to say, they signed a lease that day, and would be able to move in within weeks. This posed a small issue for AJ, but she wasn’t going to make mention of it. At least this time around, Tyson insisted on hiring movers to bring all their stuff up, especially with it being on such a high floor. AJ would just have to direct traffic and then unpack boxes, with all the heavy stuff being put into place already. She wasn’t about to argue about that this time around.
With a loss at home against Florida, the team hit the road for Chicago, losing in OT to one of the league’s worst teams. The next two games were at home, against the Islanders and Ducks. The first game was a win, with Tyson netting himself an assist. The next day found Tyson at practice, and AJ helping the movers get furniture put into place, and boxes all loaded up into various rooms. The remaining items at the hotel were starting to dwindle as AJ moved most of their belongings over.
Coming back from practice, Tyson found the hotel room missing AJ as she was in the process of moving some stuff the few blocks over to the new building. He sighed, looking at the garland and lights that still lined the ceiling of their room. Gently he pulled the hooks from the walls, looping the lights and shiny garland neatly and placing it in one of the empty bins. He honestly was going to miss it at the new place, even though that very same new place was home.
Even when AJ came back to pick up more stuff, the lack of twinkling lights reflecting against the walls made the place feel empty.
With most everything moved over, the last few things in the room were just pillows, a few sets of clothes, and the last few items needed in the bathroom. AJ had made mention it was going to take a while to get some stuff unpacked, and with Tyson going on the road here in a few days, that maybe they could officially “move in” once he returned. Her outward intent was to get most everything unpacked while he was gone, but that was going to be a little difficult as she actually had some plans already in the works for something else.
The two slept hard that night in the hotel, after moving and unpacking a few boxes, as well as rearranging some furniture. The next morning, AJ was back at it, while Tyson had morning skate before the Anaheim game. Taking some time off, she snagged a ticket and made her way to the arena to cheer on the Sabres with a 6-3 victory. Tyson had a pretty good night, another assist and some pretty good numbers in the box score.
One final night together in the hotel… AJ had issues keeping Tyson focused on getting packed up for the four game roadie, which would send him to Dallas, St. Louis, Winnipeg, and ending in St. Paul. Tyson’s interests were more about some late night shenanigans to literally go out with a bang before officially moving into the new apartment. While getting his backpack filled and his suit laid out for the trip, AJ was trying to secretly pack her own backpack, giving the reason of “oh this is my last bag of stuff to go over.”
Little did Tyson know that, while technically true, that bag was going to be making some of the same stops on the roadie.
That Sunday morning, Tyson had morning practice before heading to the airport. In the same time frame, AJ go the last of their stuff moved from the hotel, and she herself headed to the airport, boarding a different plane. She felt awful for what she was about to do.
AJ: Hey babe, I’m pretty exhausted and am going to crash for a bit. Text me when you land?
She wasn’t lying. The motion sickness pills she downed as she got to the airport were kicking in and she likely was going to sleep on the plane. But all the same, AJ felt a little dirty about it.
Right before takeoff, AJ’s phone, which was supposed to be in airplane mode (seriously, who actually puts their phone in airplane mode when flying?), buzzed in her hand.
Tyson: Sleep well babe, only a few more sleeps until we’re both back in our bed. Heading to the airport here in a bit. Ily
A smile hit AJ’s face, thinking about having a space that was truly theirs, with their own things, and room to move around, and could set up everything the way they wanted. As the plane took off, she fidgeted with the engagement ring on her finger, focusing on it, rather than the upward movement of the plane that made her dizzy. Once at cruising altitude, AJ indeed fell asleep to one of Tyson’s house mixes. It took the passenger next to her tapping her on the shoulder to wake her up as they were landing at DFW - what felt like minutes later, but really was hours.
Collecting her bag and trekking through the airport, AJ found her way to the Orange Line, and took the train into Dallas. It was a quiet day on the train, considering it was not a weekday. Watching out the windows, she took in views she’d never seen before. Hopping off at Victory Station, which spit her out right by the arena, leaving the rest of the way to her hotel as about a half mile walk. Checking in, she made her way to the third floor and faceplanted on the bed.
Tyson: On the ground in Dallas. Miss you already. How’s unpacking?
AJ looked around and saw her bag sitting on the ottoman in her room.
AJ: Honestly haven’t really unpacked much. Kind of relaxing at the moment honestly.
Tyson: Understand completely, no big rush. I think we’re going out for dinner. Talk more later?
AJ: Of course. Have fun! (heart emoji)
Looking at her watch, AJ was trying to figure out what to do with her evening. She didn’t want to chance somehow bumping into Tyson going out for dinner, but at the same time, everything nearby was stupidly pricey in her eyes. In a last minute decision, she put in an order online for Shake Shack, and walked to Crescent Court to pick it up. Thankfully, unlike the last time AJ was at Crescent Court with Jess the year before, there were no team buses or players around. With food in tow, she arrived back at her hotel, sprawling out on the sofa to enjoy dinner and a movie.
It was driving her nuts though knowing Tyson was maybe a mile away, but she’d see him soon enough.
With a few texts, both insisted they were needing sleep, and that they’d talk more Monday.
Snagging breakfast at the hotel, AJ contemplated what to do before the game that evening. Checking out what was nearby, she walked to the Dallas Museum of Art, taking in a wide variety of pieces by famous artists. At the same time Tyson was a half mile away getting ready for morning skate, with a strange feeling. He couldn’t pinpoint what it was, but something definitely felt odd.
Tyson missed AJ, but it wasn’t the same as other roadies. He had butterflies in his stomach for some reason.
After finishing up at the museum, AJ got in a nap before getting cleaned up and heading to the arena. There were a surprising number of Sabres fans at American Airlines Center. Getting down to the glass on the Sabres’ warmup side, AJ knew where Tyson would be warming up. She had a tiny sign that would fit in her backpack she traveled with.
The fans congregated together, chatting about where everyone was from and who everyone’s favorite players were. While she agreed that Thompson and Dahlin were great players, AJ made mention that Tyson Jost was her favorite. The guy with the kid next to her looked at her weird, but another person piped up, commenting on what a great pickup he was for the Sabres. It made her heart happy.
Looking around the end of the ice, there were a number of other signs for players, including a couple more for Tyson. Impatiently waiting until the 16:00 mark was tough for AJ, but the team took to the ice tossing pucks at Anderson playing in his 700th game. Her eyes followed Tyson around, where they did their initial drills. Tyson went to the other side of the glass, reading a poster another fan had, offering a choice of candy, probably for a puck. He skated back to the bench with something and tossed it to the equipment manager before grabbing a puck and starting his own stickhandling drill.
Not even paying attention, he drilled the puck into the boards directly under AJ’s feet and caught the rebound on his stick. Looking up, he saw a small poster, and then looked up even further to see who was holding it. The smile on his face couldn’t be contained as he skated closer, mouthing “Hey you!” as AJ gave a tiny wave. Leaning down, he got a puck on his stick and sent it over the glass to the kid directly next to her, fist bumping him through the glass. The butterflies in Tyson’s stomach from earlier now made sense.
The guy who previously looked at AJ weird for saying Jost was her favorite tapped her on the shoulder.
“What was that?”
“We’ve known each other since he played for Colorado. Thought I’d surprise him at the game.” AJ chuckled.
With warmups complete, and in fact, Buffalo stayed on the ice longer than the warmup clock lasted just to get under the skin of the Stars, AJ found her seat behind the Sabres’ bench. Luckily it was filled with other Sabres fans and she made some new friends that night. The game started off not so great with the Stars scoring within the first two minutes, but the Sabres fired back later in the first. The game went silent in the 2nd, but in the third period, the Sabres scored early to have a 2-1 lead. Later in the period, the Stars tied it up. Throughout the game, Tyson glanced back finding AJ cheering for the team in white and blue.
The Sabres held on to take it to OT.
“I’m standing up,” Dan, AJ’s new friend sitting next to her, stated. “With our top lines out there 3-on-3, this isn’t going to last long. We’re standing up.”
Everyone stood up behind the bench, which pissed off the row behind them, but it was well worth it. Power scored fifty-six seconds into the overtime period, giving the Sabres the win. The Sabres fans cheered, while the Stars fans were left sulking as they walked the stairs to the concourse of the arena. The team piled into the dressing room, and headed for the airport as they were to play St. Louis the next day.
Tyson: EGGO you’re crazy for flying out here! I love you for it though, made my night.
AJ: Crazy about YOU! Fun game. Wish I were flying with you tonight.
Tyson: Me too. When do you fly out?
AJ had to word this very carefully.
AJ: My flight is at 11:15. Figured I could at least score some breakfast before I leave (lol emoji)
Tyson: Text me when you land? We’re taking off.
AJ: You know it babe. Safe travels, love you!
AJ was asleep when the next text hit her phone, of Tyson landing in St. Louis. He was glad she seemingly slept through it. As much as he still loved getting to say “text you when I land” and then doing so, he always felt a little pang of guilt if she’d text back at 3am wherever she was in comparison. At the same time he did enjoy some of her sleepy text typos, and imagining her bleary-eyed in bed texting him back.
What did wake AJ up was her alarm so she would make it downstairs to, yes, get breakfast, pack up, and take the train back to DFW. Not thinking fully about the weather when she packed, as soon as she took a few steps onto the sidewalk of Harry Hines Blvd, it started raining, and she did not pack her umbrella. Walking under overhangs as much as she could, which was tough around the arena because there aren’t any, AJ was becoming more and more soggy as she reached the train stop. Thankfully she made it just in time for the Orange line back, and sat back as it poured down rain the whole way to the airport. Once through security, she sat next to a window with a mint hot chocolate from Dunkin watching the rain.
A quick text was sent as she boarded the plane, and was finally in the air. A bit later, she was on the ground again. AJ’s Lyft driver was awesome, the two chatted the whole way from the airport to her destination. However, that text she said she’d send was a little delayed.
AJ: Hey, on the ground. How was your flight?
Tyson: It was alright, got in around 1am like you saw. Yours?
AJ: Not bad. Hoped I’d get some sleep but didn’t. Oh damn it’s almost time for you to get ready to play, isn’t it? Kick some ass tonight, Jost. (heart emoji)
Tyson: Only because you said so. Going to miss you in the stands, last night spoiled me.
AJ: You’ll see me soon enough. I’ll be watching the game, cheering you on!
Tyson stared at the last message, getting that odd feeling he had in Dallas again.
“Surely she isn’t here… no… she went back home, right?”
A few of the guys in the dressing room noticed how antsy Tyson was to get out onto the ice for warmups. Kyle was giving him shit for the fact AJ was in Dallas to surprise him the night before, and how he was acting like his kids do when they are excited to be going out for ice cream. The feeling in Tyson’s stomach wasn’t subsiding. He was fidgeting with the tape on his stick waiting for the moment they could take the ice.
Keeping his normal focus was difficult as warmups began, and he started scanning the glass. There were a number of fans, both for the Sabres and Blues already lined up. With a deep breath he went back to doing drills, trying to push the butterflies down. Okie skated up along the boards and stopped, looking back and winking at the person behind him.
As the team drills wound down, Tyson went back toward the center line doing some stretches, when someone caught his eye. Squinting, suddenly his eyes went wide as he continued warming up his legs. Hopping up, he grabbed a puck to do his drills between the blue line and the faceoff circle.
Finishing up, he attempted to get the puck to hop onto his stick blade, but he missed not once, but twice. Looking up, his face was a little flushed as he smiled at AJ, still fumbling around. Reaching down, trying to just simply pick up the puck with his gloves, Tyson still was struggling. Finally with the puck in his hands, and his face now full on blushing, he got the puck over to the kids slapping the glass next to her. With a look back and wink at AJ, he felt like the luckiest man on Earth that his fiancee was at the game again, even if she weren’t behind the bench this time around.
There were definitely less Sabres fans at this game in St. Louis than in Dallas, but AJ made the best of it with her #LETSGOBUFFALO sign as she sat behind the Sabres Attack Twice goal. What made it even better was the 5-3 win over the Blues… especially with AJ’s history with games in St. Louis.
What made the night less stellar was that St. Louis was under a winter storm warning until noon the next day, and AJ’s flight was leaving the next morning at 5:40AM, with her Lyft coming at 3:10AM. She was terrified of one of three things happening:
She was going to oversleep, the original plan was actually to stay awake until her ride arrived.
Her ride was going to cancel and she would have no way to get to the airport on time.
The airport was going to shut down due to the weather.
Thankfully none of these happened, and she did in fact make it to the airport in time. After getting through security (being harassed by a rather rude TSA agent that thought she had something on her ankle, which, surprise, there was nothing but her ankle there), she made her way to Starbucks to snag a drink and prepare for the first of two flights. The snow was really starting to come down though and made her worried.
Just like Tyson’s gut was telling him something the previous few days, her’s was now talking to her.
Tyson and the team had flown out of St. Louis after the game thankfully, and he was safe on the ground in Winnipeg.
Knowing he was asleep, AJ just sent a quick note that she was at the airport, indeed going back to Buffalo, as much as she wanted to continue the roadie with him. She was nervous about the weather, hoping to make her connection as she was already delayed 40 minutes. The plus side, the flight wasn’t full and she ended up getting her own row on that flight.
On the ground in Dallas again, she was stressing hardcore about the connection, it was in a completely different terminal. But the flight deities smiled upon AJ that day and somehow getting out of the jetway and down the hallway, she found herself in Terminal B, right near her gate that had not yet started boarding.
AJ: Made my connection, heading home to Buffalo. (heart emoji)
Tyson looked sleepily at his phone screen with one eye, then put it back on the nightstand next to him. A warm feeling filled his chest upon seeing AJ call Buffalo “home.”

What does it mean to be a true Kamen Rider? Is it to wallow in your self-loathing and resentment of others; using the strength you've gained destroy as you please in spectacular fashion? Or is it perhaps rising above your innermost demons and putting life, love, justice and freedom above such misery?
It's something that Kekera fails to understand, and while we let Keiwa-kun shine in the main plot, we have Ace deal with the little matter that is Zitt-
Shut the front door, ZITT? That's Jitto's official romanization? Zitt! Zitt!
Dumb name, hate it, 0/10. Fuck this game, watch it go.
Spoilers, I guess...
-DGP Bad Guys, Geats Howard Good Guy
-Awwww, Azuma
-Buffalo-san~!
-You're taking coming back from the dead surprisingly smoothly, Sara-neesan.
-...although I really shouldn't be complaining: at least she came out of the fridge with a drink.
-Bound in barbed wire, our friend Ace lies in wait.
-Kuromuri's still out and about.
-...oh, I forgot, her name is Kromer, I decided this last episode.
-"Kill Tycoon. I can't believe he's doing capeshit again. >:("
-Oh goddammit! We gained a Hakubi and lost a Na-Go and PunkJack in turn.
-...did Kekera have a hand in that or was that all Kromer?
-THEY TURNED BUFFA INTO A MARKETABLE PLUSHIE
-"There is no Kamen Rider in this world but Tycoon. After all... I'm Premium Kekera."
-Guess he doesn't much care for his own CG form.
-Frogification?
-Oh, that's a real term.
-I have to admit, that's actually pretty clever Daichi.
-"I did
-OHHHHHHHH BERDLY'S BECOMING KABUTOPS AGAIN
-Ironic that Buffa never went full Jyamato even though his body was so thoroughly transformed, and yet Nadge-Sparrow never really played Beroba's game until the end.
-Zillion Driver! ...what a funny name.
-That must be why he's romanized as Zitt.
-Good effort Daichi. Too bad you apparently can't beat a frog man despite going toe-to-toe with God.
-"You were supposed to be my Funny Man, but now you're just a little bitch boy!"
-He kidnapped them!
-"Gods have no soul... therefore, the only thing needed is your visage and your power!"
-Daichi had everything going on with him, and yet he looks down not in contempt... but jealousy. That the theme we're running with?
-Fighting for world peace, once more.
-The Jyamato were still living creatures, Daichi. They didn't ask to be bred and slaughtered en masse.
-A measure of humanity for a sparrow-trilobite.
-"Hey there, primitives~! It's just about time for Japan's #1 TV show... Kamen Rider Tycoon~! Starring Keiwa~! An unemployable bum with nothing better to do in his life than bitch and moan about world peace!"
-And all of Japan collectively asked "Who?"
-Oh that's low.
-This kinda reminds me of that one Chapter in Sacred Stones, where the druid kidnaps an innocent family and tries to feed them to the giant spiders. That's when Eirika starts getting serious.
-What zero inconvenience does to a mf
-Down Keiwa-kun goes.
-Ohhhhhhhh, you motherfuckers.
-Man, I don't think I ever got this mad about Orteca or Akaishi, these guys are just straight up satanic in a way that winds me up even more.
-"Write me a good one. Make sure you watch your wording and don't write the wrong kanji!"
-How about a world where you're not happy, Kekera? That's gonna happen in a few minutes.
-OH?
-They're free!
-"Those're my boys."
-Set!
-"I am the God here! And what kind of God would I be if I left my people alone!"
-THAT'S THE INTRO SHOT
-Let my people go.

-"I became a Kamen Rider. I could help bring about world peace. And it's all because you didn't care about it."
-Mitsutoshi Shundo, you beautiful man.
-Welcome back, everyone!
-I will say, Regad suit? Pure sex.
-Red, black, and gold is always a great color combo (Hello Lupin).
-Happy End :)
-"That's the magic of TV!"
-Not even Boil valued his own life.
-Oh, there's the super cool Suel invisibility effect again.
-Hello, Star King Kirito but evil and fucked up.
-Good job, Keiwa-kun! ...no Orion Bolt, but that's okay. You don't really use bows anymore.
-Oh hey Ace.
-"You're working for world peace, man. That's the Kamen Rider way."
-Ohhhh
-A worldwide Desire Grand Prix! And everyone gets a swing!"

-Regad Omega.
-A retool in the same episode it was introduced, okay.
-Creation and Master of All! Regad Omega!
-"The Ultimate Despair. It is you, it is me, it is all our desire."
-:O
-ANOTHER SHOT FROM THE OPENING NEXT EPISODE HUH
-OKAY
-Hot damn.
-Well, at least the wait won't be that long.
-Final Destination.
-Not our final episode, assuredly, but we're in the endgame now.

The Umbrella Academy, Ep.3x06 – Marigold
This episode has the main characters pretty much in their own storylines, so I will deal with each of them one at a time.  But this episode actually raises more questions than answers.  I wonder if we’ll find out the whole truth about the Obsidian/Oblivion hotel this season, as it seems to be tied more into the bigger picture of the series as a whole.
But before we deal with what’s happening in the present, we need to take a look back into the past a bit; where we find out why Pogo is no longer with Reginald.  It turns out that, during one of the training sessions, Reginald and Pogo had a falling out.  Reginald is training The Sparrows to go somewhere he refers to as the other side (which I think we see in this episode).  Pogo feels that the Sparrows are not ready and, well, he’s trying to make sure they don’t get killed.  So, Reginald sacked him.  However, before Pogo goes, he gives Marcus a case full of vials.  This, it turns out, is the medication the Sparrows used to keep Reginald complacent.
Getting back to the present, Klaus, after finding out about his powers, decides to go talk to Reginald. It seems like Reginald is planning on helping Klaus; but ends up killing him instead.  This is for experimentation.
Luther also isn't in this episode much. Basically, we have a scene at the beginning and at the end. At the beginning, we find that he spent the night with Sloane. And he's no longer sure that he has a place with The Umbrellas anymore. Fei knocks on Sloane's door and Sloane tries to hide the fact that Luther is in the bedroom.  However, Fei points out to Sloane that they share a bedroom wall and Sloane has a very squeaky bed. Anyway, Fei says that Ben wants to talk with Luther. And it's an interesting moment because Luther is given a chance to explain to Ben why they all are kind of fixated on him. Not that Ben really cares.
What Ben does care about is that, according to Ben, the Sparrows need someone like Luther to lead the team.  And then he gives Luther a uniform.  Fei makes it clear that she knows Ben is up to something, but he won’t tell her what. If he’s trying to sow discord into the Umbrellas, well he doesn’t need to do much.
Meanwhile, Lila and Diego discover their kid is missing and it looks like he’s gone through a secret passage located in the Buffalo Suit.  However, it’s less of a passage more of going through the looking glass, as Lila and Diego find themselves in the mirror version of the Buffalo Suit. Furthermore, the hotel itself is different.  While trying to figure out where the kid, Stan I think, went; Lila lets Diego know that she was lying.  Turns out she wanted to find out what Diego would be like if he were a father before furthering a relationship.  Anyway, cutting to the chase; Diego wants to find a way out and rings a bell that a sign told them not to ring.  All of a sudden, a creature in Samurai Armor attacks and manages to cut two of Diego’s fingers off. Diego and Lila manage to get back to their reality and shut the door before the Samurai can kill them.  There they find Stan, but then another wave hits and Stan disappears.
While this is going on, Five is trying to talk with Pogo.  However, Pogo is having none of it and leaves the club.  Five follows Pogo to his house and Pogo gives him a chance to explain as Five must be stupid or desperate.  Five tells him about the timeline they come from, the tattoo, and how is older self mentioned the word Oblivion.  Pogo is able to fill in some of the details.  Pogo doesn’t know what Oblivion is exactly, but he does know it has something to do with the mission Reginald was training The Sparrows for. Also, the tattoo is based on some of the drawings that Reginald showed Pogo, that has something to do with Oblivion as well.
Finally, we get to Viktor and Allison.  It turns out that Allison was being honest in that she did help Harlan escape the hotel. Viktor meets up with the two and tells Harlan that he’s going to try to help him.  However, Viktor isn’t sure how to take the power back.  Harlan thinks he might have an idea.  Allison, who’s not happy with this idea, tells Viktor he has a day or that she’s going to use her powers to make Viktor go back with her.  Maybe she hasn’t learned from the whole Luther thing.
The thing is that, while Harlan isn’t sure how Viktor can take his powers back, he has consciously lived with the powers longer and does have a better idea how to use them. Basically, Viktor has used the powers based on the sounds around him that he could hear, but he needed to deep digger into the energy around them.  The, ah, first attempt doesn’t go well and is stopped by Allison as she’s afraid it will kill Viktor.  However, Viktor makes it clear that he doesn’t want to stop.
Angry, Allison storms away and then has a conversation with her subconscious in the form of Ray.  In this conversation, we find out that Ray died several years before and, uh, didn’t have as good of a life as Allison hoped it would be.
Meanwhile, Harlan is getting Viktor to tap more into his power.  And, long story short, Viktor manages to take back the power and it knocks Viktor unconscious.
Later, Harlan asks Allison what happens to him now and Allison tells him to go home.  Harlan then says he understands why Allison doesn’t like him, which she doesn’t get at first.  But when Harlan continues to talk, it makes Allison realize that it was him that killed their mothers.  At which point she not only accuses them of killing the mothers, but being the reason why Claire doesn’t exist anymore.  Though, in fairness, they had changed the timeline so much at this point there no reason to assume that there would be a Claire even if Allison had been born.  Of course, as it has become very clear that Allison and reason are no longer on speaking terms, it’s no surprise that this is her conclusion.
In the end, Allison drives to the Sparrow Academy to deliver Harlan.  And I’m hoping he’s just unconscious, because if she killed him….well, nothing gives Allison the right to play judge, jury, and executioner.  I truly wonder if the writers’ plan is to turn Allison into a villain, because it’s becoming harder and harder for her to just come back from this.
And then, just to make everything worse, she sees Luther in the Sparrow outfit.

Respite Pool
Hello darlings! Today’s story was brought to you by Sarah! Darling thank you so much for all your support!
Prompt: HGE – Terrors of the Deep
+++
“We’ve never had much to do with the vampires.”
(We are friends with Draco, and many of the Elders. They will involve themselves if we ask.)
“I don’t think this is an issue they can help with.”
Evelene was lounging in the Mediterranean-warm pool of their lair. Years of enchantments and a carefully-diverted hot spring made sure that the pool was always at the perfect temperature and salinity for her preferences. Half the pool was walled in thick glass so that Blaec could spend time with her. He didn’t mind water, but it was not his domain as it was hers. Evelene, of course, only took to the land when she had a good reason and preferred the comfort of her pool most of the time.
Blaec kept his favorite pile of gold nearby, crushed and mangled into the perfect support for his large form. There was a carefully-contained volcanic hotspot beneath all the gold. Someday, it would erupt, and their lair would be destroyed, but that would not happen for a long while yet.
Volcanoes were not subtle. When Yellowstone was ready to wake again, they would know about it in plenty of time to remove their home to another place.
Until then, it made for the perfect hiding spot, sheltered from humans, warm enough for Blaec, and with enough water for Evelene. They had moved in shortly after the fall of Rome, and remained there comfortably, with many layers of spells to hide their comings and goings.
These days, Blaec kept a ranch stocked with buffalo, cattle, and other creatures suitable for his needs, but long ago, he had preyed on the wild herds, and Yellowstone had suited well for that as well.
They were resting, and preparing for the next leg of her journey. The time spent in Norway had been productive, although any encounter with Saltstraumen was always unnerving. Evelene didn’t regret the visit.
It might be a monster, but there was little that happened in the oceans that Saltstraumen did not know about. It had given her useful information, and only tried to eat her once. That was practically good manners fr0m a creature as old or older than many of the gods who watched over Humanity.
All in all, a more successful interaction than she had expected.
Now she was awaiting more information, from a much more reliable informant who was significantly safer to deal with.
Hoshi was more expensive, but she had never once attempted to eat Evelene, which was a significant improvement over Saltstraumen. For a request like Evelene’s, her reply could not be quick, It was a lot of complicated questions all together. Even Hoshi would have to work to give her so many answers.
(Are you sure this is not a time to call for your father?)
Blaec never liked to involve gods unless there was a true need, but the vampire curse moving through the mermaid population might just be bad enough to call for a higher power. Triton rarely replied to prayers, but Evelene was not one of his faithful, and he would always answer his daughter’s call.
So far, Evelene hadn’t wanted to do that. Involving her father, involving any deity, was always a roll of the dice. While Triton would not cause her harm intentionally, and would protect her from everything he could, his presence would garner interest. The mermaids were not the only Others on Earth with a godly patron of their line. There was no telling who else might be watching.
“Not yet,” Evelene decided and spread her fins out as wide as they would go, showing off her long, lethal spines. Red lionfish were not often a lethal encounter for anything but other fish. Despite their superficial resemblance to her own scales, Evelene’s venom was far, far more potent, and far more lethal. There were few creatures in the water that would ignore the bright warning of her red and white stripes. “Uncle Hades might be able to so something for my lost nieces, for they are dead already and thus within his domain.”
(Have you spoken to him?)
“Not yet. I need to know more before I go to him, either asking a favor, or begging information.”
Hoshi charged a price for her favors, and so did Hades. If Evelene had to chose which to owe a favor, Hoshi would always be the safer choice.
“The real concern is threefold,” she said, and pillowed her head on her arms, draped on a curling up-current that swirled perpetually through the water. It wasn’t strong enough to carry her upwards, but it was strong enough for her to lay on, weightless and suspended in the water. “The first concern is how to find all of those who have taken on the curse. The second is how to contain my people who have been infected.”
(And the third?) Blaec questioned, his head resting on the stone outside her glass-walled pool close enough for his breath to leave small plumes of condensation on the water-cooled glass. (What are your worries, my Treasure?)
Evelene turned in the water and sighed, faintly sulfur-flavored water drifting over her gills.
“Even if I eradicate all those taken by the curse of vampirism, how do I prevent them from being infected once more?”
