the major problem with jason todd / red hood writers, it's that the majority of them never had to take care of a drug addict parent, never had to steal to be able to eat at least once a day, they aren't from the favelas/hoods, they never had a drug house three houses down yours, they lived in safe neighborhoods with white picket fences and two store houses, so they write jason stereotypical and without a community, because they see poor people as a "survivor of the fittest" thing

tbh i do get a little bothered by the notion that tim took the first shot he had to drop out of school because he hated school and didnt wanna do it and all of that bc i feel like it ignores the probably very important context that he dropped out after his dad (as well as steph-or at least, he was led to believe, in the same week) died, also he was in a school shooting. He did attempt to go to a school in bludhaven but the kids there were so wildly insensitive about the shooting that tim dropped out under the pretense of his "uncle" homeschooling him. In his oyl era, he /did/ go back to school, and it provided him some form of normalcy. Tim was a normal kid, he wasnt crazy about school but he still went to school and it helped him feel like a normal kid, something he desperately clung to. He only dropped out again to do his Brucequest, in an era where he was notably Not Doing Well (which. Yeah. he wasnt doing well bc he was like 17 and almost everyone in his support system was dead, he recently had hits put out on him, got blown up, and backstabbed by his not-dead-ex, he couldnt support his theory that bruce was alive and was extremely stressed about that, and he didnt know wtf he was doing. I love him btw.) Basically tim dropping out of school was a signifier that he wasnt doing well and he was giving up on the normality that he tried to cling to and im a bit of a nitpicky person who gets irked by minor things

I am so so so so so so so tired of those “bATbOyS” and “mALe RoBinS” mfs using those stupid terms as an excuse to never have to talk about any of the women of the batfamily and yet still managing to erase Duke Thomas💀
You had one job, if you wanna not talk about Cassandra, Stephanie, Barbara, Kate or any of those amazing characters, sure, then don’t, you just had to remember that ONE guy, but batfamily fans are incapable of acknowledging that anyone who isn’t a white male with blue eyes exists

I struggled for a while to vocalize exactly what bothered me about "comic fans" that never actually read the comics, but I came across a tiktok a few days ago that exemplified pretty much exactly it.
This girl was talking about how she loves the whole Nightwing killing the joker thing, instead of Bruce. Her first Tiktok, she just says that it says so much that he killed the Joker, but Batman never did.
People point out that Bruce tried killing the Joker for MONTHS, but kept getting blocked; first by Superman and later by Gordon, and he didn't really give up fully until Tim became Robin.
She doubles down, saying "Yes, he tried killing the Joker at first, but then later Nightwing just walks up and kills him in cold blood."
Which, again, is just not true. The circumstances behind Dick nearly beating the Joker to death was that he thought the Joker had killed Tim. He thought the Joker had killed his other brother as well. He was feeling the exact way Bruce did after Jason's death. This is also why Bruce administered CPR. He knew Dick would not be able to handle actually killing someone, even if it was the Joker. Especially not if he did it in such a heated manner.
People again pointed this out, saying; you're wrong, that's not what happened.
Her defense, throughout this whole thing?
"I never actually read the comics, you cannot expect me to read them, there are a hundred versions of events in comics, you cannot expect me to read them all. Why are you all bullying me."
And like; you don't have to read comics, but you cannot be seriously participating in a fandom while actively refusing to read the source material you're discussing, and then expect not to have people correct you.

I don’t know why that writer felt the need to make so many (awful) status quo changes when she isn’t going to be writing Kon again. I hate when writers go “I need to completely fix this character because everybody who has ever written this character is wrong and my vision will fix everything” and then cause even more damage. Crazy thing is homegirl did this all in 10 pages idk why she was planting seeds for a story arc that will never develop under her pen.
#Justice4KennyPorter
NO LITERALLY IT'S SO... like. I'm sorry but why is she going around saying stuff like this:
Tumblr media
when she's not currently slated for anything else with Kon, and is also saying stuff like this:
Tumblr media
which very much so implies it's not that she has stuff slated that just hasn't been announced, but that she's not gotten the greenlight on whatever this backup story was the 'opening move' of.
i just.... ghghgh. it sucks because i have liked other things I've read from her before (The Jinny Hex oneshot!!!!) but this backup story made me very very very annoyed as a Kon fan and has just felt like an unnecessary mess

hate to be like Nuance November but . i usually think the people critiquing the game design and plotline are correct, but even if they weren’t it should be cool w/ everyone anyway. there’s almost an inability to interact with the plot/design in any meaningful analytical way because any hint of negative connotation is immediately frowned upon, as if critique is not a route for people to enjoy media— it’s an ages old hobby and career & i don’t think that the novelty of the minecraft medium excludes a narrative from being analyzed and critiqued

in my anti-tim drake era. rich mf's parents aren't around :( and he decides to become a fucking stalker? not even for like. a good cause or anything. he's just like 'yeah im gonna stalk these people cause i think they're cool.' people r always like 'oh he's so smart and he's a mastermind' yeah? what was he gonna do if done rogue spotted him and decided they wanted to know what this kid knew? he was gonna endanger batman's whole ass mission, his life, and his sons lives, just so he could take some cute pictures?
and then when jason dies, he's like huh. wow i could totally insert myself here and become part of my favorite reality tv show :)' haha and he fUCKING BLAVKMAILS BRUCE
idk how people just brush that shit off he fucking preyed on the feelings of a grieving father to what? play dress up? like good for you!! you weaseled your way into the home of a grieving family!!!
like yeah. his parents weren't the best. doesn't give him an excuse to exploit someone else's family so he can live out some fantasy where he has a loving home. like ok? go off u weasel ig. u could have just. done the normal and sane and legal thing where u try to make friends by talking to them! instead of following them with a camera for years gathering blackmail
tim drake didn't need robin. he had everything he could have ever asked for at his fingertips, opportunities and money and privilege. he became robin not because he deserved it, but because he wanted it.
im so fucking tired of rich white boys just throwing themselves around like they're the shit. tim drake is the most boring, infuriatingly arrogant, overhyped asshole since t*ny st*rk.
people act like jason was wrong for attacking tim like he wasn't the one who stole his title, the thing that made him magic. from him. if tim drake really wanted to help people, he should've put on a mask himself. he had the money, and obviously the free time to do it. but no. what he did was steal the uniform of a boy who was barely cold in his grave, because robin will always be a game to him. something he can pretend he is do he doesn't have to look himself in the mirror and see the privileged, misogynistic, arrogant creep who stares back at him.

Just read Dark Crisis: Young Justice 1 and 2 and my thoughts on all the Cissie King-Jones Disc Horse I saw floating around last night are:
Cassie is so obviously in her own alt world and that is so obviously a fake Cissie it’s not even funny. Practically every panel we see of Cassie she is begging someone for help finding the boys and they are rejecting her out of hand. Including Cissie.
To recap, in 1 + 2, Cissie:
After the boys go missing right in front of her eyes, goes and sits outside instead even pretending to help Cassie search.
She then makes an outrageous comment about their “fake dads” (even though Cassie just got done monolouging about how WW was “more than a mentor” to her, so Fitzmartian clearly knows how fcking out of pocket that is and I can’t help but think it was meant to be an intentional contrast.)
She then tells Cassie that the boys are “always fine” so she shouldn’t even bother looking and then leaves her. Reminder that moments before this interaction Cissie was worrying over if Cassie was ok because she looked kind of mad. Does this new Cissie sound like a someone who cares about her friends’ emotions?
Cassie then spends the next couple days going to every hero she knows for help and getting turned away, until she finally turns back to Cissie
Cissie tells Cassie she should be worrying more about the justice league than her missing friends and precedes to try and slander them, saying that they were never actually nice to her or anyone else, and implying that Cassie being such close friends with them is the reason that her and Cissie grew apart.
After this speech doesn’t get through to Cassie, she agrees to help her and then proceeds to let Red Volcano beat the shit out of Cassie while she does nothing to help
I understand that actual Cissie got literally three lines of dialogue (while she was quite literally in the background) and so Cissie fans are nervous that this is just a character assassination, but I think it’s ok to have the barest amount of faith that there is indeed a plot going on in this comic book. In my eyes, this is very clearly the case of some malicious entity, in control of everyone in this version of reality, desperately trying to get Cassie to stop searching for her friends. (It’s kinda a shit entity tbh, considering neither Bart or Cassie are really fooled for a second).
Also disclaimer: I’ve never read any of the YJ books. I would not be able to recognize Properly Characterized Cissie King-Jones if she slapped me with a fish. But I can recognize a lying bitch! I’m very confident in that.
