I don't know how to deal with the situation anymore, on one hand I understand everyone having hope and looking forward to the server repairing, really I do, but like... I feel like every update makes me feel more and more bleak for the communication issues. I'd like to say I feel reassured when a CC comes and says "well things are being fixed up and the admins I talked to are saying it's going great," but I just don't anymore, especially when I go look at one of the said admins public twitter, and they're liking tweets talking about how everyone leaving the company and exposing the way they were treated were just "ungrateful petty pieces of shit," and like... I don't feel comforted, I feel frustrated and like no one is talking to the admins who got ousted even more. Am I supposed to just smile and nod through the fact a language is just gone from the server? Why were we expendable... Why am I supposed to know you "support the admins" because you posted once in support of them a month ago but you proceeded to go on a tirade about how useless and liars all of the now out admins are over a week. I don't know. I don't think we know everything behind the scenes. Everything feels so weird. I just want the admins who got ousted to be okay and know their part of the server meant something to me. I don't know the answer and I doubt I ever will but this last year was a delight. I don't think it could've been the same without every former admin like Léa or Ana or Lumi or Shade or Dianna or Amz3t or Rainylour or Pancks or any of the update admins who kept me up on new content or all of the coders on the backend making websites like qsmp.tv usable and the purgatory website and the elections website and the cool ARG website or all of the builders in game who made events really shine or any of the unnamed many many more admins and people who worked so hard to make the project work so well despite all of the conditions. Like the server with any of these removed is hard to imagine and I still don't think I can fully believe it.

like i remember the vitriol that came out when the mere PREMISE for ballad of songbirds and snakes came out bc it was “about the villain” and wasn’t instead a novella of one of the many cute likeable faves of the masses. i remember how fast people were to tear down the book before it even came out (and still do now). and it’s like look, i get it, suzanne created so many interesting characters that it would be incredible to learn more about and get more content for. but her choosing to write about snow for a prequel isn’t like Romanticizing The Villain or whatever bullshit y’all are claiming as hot takes on twitter -- ballad fits right into the common themes and tone of the series in that its not a romanticization but a reflection on how snow became what we know him as in the original series. both in how he already had some less than charming or healthy traits (just like katniss does -- suzanne is always clear that people are not inherently good nor evil and parallels were drawn between how snow and katniss view the world and think strategically, etc, from the second book), but also in how society and the choices of the greater community in panem created snow. like ballad is a really interesting piece of lore and history and worldbuilding for an already rich and elaborate setting that suzanne created, allowing us to see how that world even came to be and the kind of toxic impact it had on the people surviving in it while still pointing out that those people are human and that everyone has humanity and yet can still cause unfathomable harm to one another based on circumstance and need to survive and pressures of all kinds and like i have lost the plot here now but suzanne is one of the best authors of our time who actually gives a shit about creating layered, nuanced characters and worlds rather than black and white good and evil and unfortunately the hyperpolarization of our hot takes social media culture nowadays just can’t handle her anymore. suzanne im so sorry we don’t deserve your storytelling. anyway i’ll be seated for this movie y’all can skip and keep giving lukewarm takes on twitter to make urself seem so smart for hating a book you probably didnt even actually read

"Izzy is the only character who-" "Izzy is the only one-" "No one else but Izzy-" "Izzy is the only one that-"
Izzy is the only character you paid attention to. That is the only thing we are getting from those posts. If you actually think Izzy is the only character on the show to battle with or achieve any of his character beats (internalized homophobia, self loathing, suicide, empathy), you are literally not watching the actual show. You are watching him talk and then zoning out for everything else. This isn't just lack of media literacy, this is lack of media period. Because you didn't fucking watch it.
Just say you only care about the angry white man and go. Stop trying to make yourselves feel superior for having a favorite character.

one thing i can't really wrap my head around in terms of like. fandom stuff is the idea of character death as an inherently bad thing. like a good well-written death is one of the best things that can happen to a character
"nooooo my fave died how can i go onnnnn" frankly? skill issue

I am so so so so so so so tired of those “bATbOyS” and “mALe RoBinS” mfs using those stupid terms as an excuse to never have to talk about any of the women of the batfamily and yet still managing to erase Duke Thomas💀
You had one job, if you wanna not talk about Cassandra, Stephanie, Barbara, Kate or any of those amazing characters, sure, then don’t, you just had to remember that ONE guy, but batfamily fans are incapable of acknowledging that anyone who isn’t a white male with blue eyes exists

okay I'm this is a tall order but I am so confused about Taika. Does he support Israel? I've seen so many posts about people spreading rumors about him and other people saying he does support Israel, so what's the haps??
so the rumor that taika supports israel comes from the fact that he (and like 200 other hollywood ppl including some very famous names like mark hamill or jack black but for some reason ppl only are talking abt taika) signed a letter thanking biden for working to release hostages and fight hamas. the language in the letter does not acknowledge that israel is a settler colonial state and that hamas exists as a direct result of settler colonial violence.
the letter is bad but it’s bad in the way that someone who is not informed about the conflict probably would not pick up on. it’s a letter that on its surface just looks like concern for civilian hostages, which is a good and normal thing to be concerned about. the letter was also probably about as effective as when all those celebrities sang “imagine” during covid lockdowns, which is to say that it most likely did nothing. i doubt biden is making global decisions based on what 200 rich people in hollywood think (if anything he’s probably making decisions based on what 200 oil executives think ahaha)
ppl have also connected taika signing this letter to guz khan getting fired from ofmd. there was a rumor that he was fired bc he supports palestine, which is almost certainly not true. guz was fired bc the show got a 40% budget cut for s2 and his character was the easiest to write off. guz has said he wouldn’t compromise his morals for a job but that this wasn’t the job where he had to do that, and he has blocked the person who started that rumor. ALSO several actors in ofmd have since posted supporting palestine so like?? this one is pure antisemetic conspiracy theory. if taika had a problem with guz supporting palestine why was guz even hired in the first place.
anyway signing the letter was a bad thing that taika should not have done but it is impossible to determine his stance on israel based solely on the fact that he signed that letter. he has also liked posts about freeing palestine so like, who knows. i personally have much better things to be doing than scrutinizing everything a famous poc does to try and prove if he’s a good or bad person
tl;dr there is no hard evidence that taika supports israel ppl just hate him for being a wildly successful brown jewish man

something ive noticed over the past couple weeks during this doied arc is that people are being, im assuming unintentionally, rude towards cc roier. sometimes roier will say or do something and people will then get upset at doied for what was done when in reality… its not doied. it wasn’t in character at all actually. so it just becomes hateful remarks towards roier for just being himself presented in the light of disliking doied. roier has made multiple jokes now on his streams during this arc of fans who take everything he says too seriously and as if he’s in character when sometimes it’s just jokes and or lighthearted banter. so as a reminder roier isn’t in character the entire time hes logged on the server. he’s never been that type of player. he does rp when he wants to and he makes it very clear when it is rp. so please treat roier normally.

i hope a large majority of qBBH enjoyers just move to tumblr and abandon Twitter at this point. It’s a toxic wasteland over there, I don’t know if any of it is salvageable anymore. No need to beef, just leave forever and never look back.

after talking with other people i feel like there really is a disconnect between everyone who has other povs they still have left and everyone who just lost all of their povs (the french)/lost most of their pov's lore (bbh with dapper and pomme). like everyone is stressed and some people are making jokes and i get it i really do i like humor in dark situations, but like... this is the worst case scenario that's happened for everyone who did lose everything. pomme said she wasn't coming back to the server and the french cc all said they wouldn't be coming back if she didn't. i don't feel like joking right now. this situation isn't like the previous two cc who were removed for their own actions, this one was because the studio didn't attempt anything to try to retain a whole language after frequent year-long workplace abuse. this doesn't feel like goofy lore drama anymore it's like, wow we really did lose everything. all because nobody in the upper staff knew how to dm an admin. i wish them well is a nice sentiment and all but i feel a little bit callous to it when the reason they're leaving is that no one talked to them. it was all preventable. no shit sherlock of course i'm upset and my posts reflect that. i wish every post i made being critical of this didn't come across like doomposting. even if qsmp recovers all of the parts i loved most got uselessly cut off in the process. there's not much left i can go back to. even if they replaced pomme's actor there's not going to be cc to come back for that. there's just going to be a hole in the server now when i watch. i feel like i'm going through every stage of grief. i don't want the server to burn down, i'd love to see it continue, but i'd be lying if i said i wasn't terribly bitter about everything.

*clears throat* you're allowed to love fucked up characters, horrible evil cruel characters with warped morals! you don't have to babygirl-fy them to justify liking a fucked up lil dude. liking something cool in media isn't reflective of who you are as a person. alternatively, you're also allowed to dislike characters without needing to justify that — you can just go "i don't fuck with this dude" even if they're nice or kind or a "good" character. you don't have to nitpick your way into turning them into villains so you feel morally vindicated in your preferences. people who enjoy characters you don't (or don't consider "good") aren't the devil, they just fuck with different shit.
tl;dr - please, for the love of all that is holy, like what you like and move on. you don't have to justify yourself through a sin-based mildly concerning scale of "acceptable behaviour" bc a) it's concerning, and b) no one actually cares as much as you think they do. enjoy your shit and more on.

Damn it, I wake up and see some Tubblings and Crows fighting in each other’s asks again. I swear the MC community is the most divided fandom.
GUYS I HATE TO SAY IT BUT TUBBO AND PHILZA ARE BOTH FLAWED PEOPLE AND GUARDIANS!!!!! They are currently mentally unstable and that’s interesting and also bad for their kids.
Both are negatively impacting Chayanne with different choices they’re making. Neither realize how much Chayanne has internalized his hero complex nor do they realize the negative impacts this is going to have in the future.
I could write a lot more, but as someone who loves both stories happening seeing so much in-fighting in this fandom space suuuucks.

going off of this post and its incredible insights about gideon and the fandom filtration and shitty treatment she gets as a butch woman of color i think there's also major critiques to be made re: the way people talk about pyrrha, especially pyrrha dve as a trans woman living in the body of g1deon who can be textually read as Black and is at the very least (because i know some of you will go tamsyn doesn't specify him as being Black the way you always do when non-white characters are not explicitly pointed out to be Black, despite fandom-wide portrayals of gideon and pyrrha both as Black!) a dark-skinned man of color.
some people in fandom are really happy to buy into the descriptions that augustine and mercymorn attribute to him when they're upset with him, animal-like, no better than a guard dog, and too incompetent to handle anything more than "simple soups and stews" without giving him the proper nuance and depth that they afford more or less every other character in the series — it really doesn't sit right with me that they will give every other character generous, layered interpretations and analysis but stop at gideon the first.
but as soon as it's pyrrha in gideon's body, she becomes someone who can be fetishized, desired, and used — features that are ostensibly exactly the same as gideon's become desirable and sexy, especially in fic, often with a focus on pyrrha's sexuality and her body rather than any attention to who she is as a person. it's especially noticeable in the way that people struggle to discuss pyrrha without reducing her to a sexy domme mommy / milf / great with the strap etc. etc. — and i'm not saying that pyrrha can't be hot or sexy or whatever, because that's not the point i'm trying to make, but you'll be racist about gideon the first and unable to think critically about him and how he's portrayed in htn in one breath and in the next talking about how bad you want pyrrha to dick you down.
it's the frequent issue we see on tumblr and in other spaces where trans women are thirsted after openly, their bodies sexualized and fetishized, and this is somehow considered to be a form of acceptance because if you say you want to have sex with trans women then that's good enough, and you shouldn't have to examine the way you treat trans women any more than that, especially trans women of color.

i think. and this is all im gonna say on the matter. is that some of the backlash and negativity im seeing really just stems from dsmp being so many people's first fandom. something ending doesn't mean you have to leave. something ending BADLY doesn't mean you have to leave. you're entitled to feeling disappointed or unsatisfied, and you're entitled to leaving, but it's not like the world stops if your favorite media has a bad ending. things will blossom. things will be okay. many fandom spaces thrive best when their media is concluded, because then they have the free space and ability to do anything they want without worrying about canon dissonance. the supernatural fandom has been thriving for two years now. the danny phantom fandom has been thriving for fifteen. it feels horrible at first. but if it's something that meant a lot to you, that you've found a community in, leaving isn't the only choice. you're okay to stay, no matter the ending <3

I promise I’m not going to harp on this forever I’m really not but…
People complaining that they want more nuanced, complicated queer protagonists, who are allowed to be messy and have depth, while still being loved and cherished by the characters in the narrative, as well as the narrative itself, finally getting that character and then immediately turning on them the moment they do something even slightly nuanced or complicated or messy will never not be the funniest fucking thing to me.
Like… Which is it? What do you want really?

Thing is, Taika's right. Why should he be expected to comment on everything going on even if he barely knows anything about it? Why should any celebrity? It must be frustrating as hell to constantly hear the demands for comments and knowing if you say one thing even slightly off then you will be shredded for it. Even celebrities who try to advocate for peace and ending violence are slaughtered because they didn't use the precise language their fans wanted them to.
I don't think Taika said anything wrong. There are people out there who really do only have the capacity to focus on one awful thing at a time and that is not a bad thing! Not everyone has the spoons to keep up with every awful thing occurring in the world and they should not be expected to force themselves to, whether they're a regular person or a celebrity. I don't know for sure Taika is one of those people, but after that interview I suspect he just might be. Yes he's uninformed, but he's aware he is and and he's absolutely right about the demands to comment. Fans can be disappointed he's uninformed but he's still right. He shouldn't have to comment! It's not his or any celebrity's job to discuss the state of the world! It's their job to entertain. Why must it fall on them to tell their fans what to think?
I have seen a lot of "let go of your need to defend celebrities" of late and yet no "let go of your need to attack celebrities for not conforming to your exact expectations." You (general) can be disappointed in your fave. It's allowed. But there's no reason to hang them from a public gibbet for it. Be disappointed and hope they learn and do better, same as you would for any other person. Because celebrities are just people. You don't have to agree with everything they say or do but you also can't expect them to do and say everything exactly as you want them to.
(talkin abt this post)
all of this 100%. also there’s this idea that if you have a large public platform you are morally obligated to use that platform to raise awareness for social issues, and like, i don’t necessarily disagree with that statement, but then that idea moves onto the matter of which social issues the celebrities or ofmd blogs on tumblr with like 2k followers should be using their platform to promote. which is a stupid discussion bc the answer should be “the ones you are informed about” but instead people act like celebrities need to be informed about whichever ones are making headlines at the moment, and if they aren’t informed and they aren’t promoting awareness, or even if they’re just not promoting awareness in the specific correct way, then that celebrity is criticized and labeled immoral.
