#biphopia
Been really fed up with the biphobia in the 911 fandom lately, so excuse the slight rant inspired by the latest episode of Ghosts, but if you're 'grossed' out by a ship (Canon or otherwise) because it's outside of what you view as correct, then you are an asshole. Two or more consenting adults in a relationship isn't gross and seeing those relationships on screen isn't a bad thing even if you're not personally invested in the ship.
And liking a gay ship or having gay friends or being another form of queer yourself doesn't give you any more of a right to hate on a type of relationship (much less be disgusted by it) than your average bigot.

Is everyone willingly ignoring it or when are we going to realize this petty label discourse has always been rooted in misogyny. This started long before Bi Lesbians. Some of you are just too new or simply never paid enough attention to realize the history of this hatred of lesbians. Do any of you remember?
First it was "Butches aren't valid" because they were invading wlw spaces with their "masculinity"
Then it was moved onto: "Trans women aren't valid" because actually they were the ones invading wlw spaces with their "masculinity" The exact same arguement being used against cis women as well.
Then "Pan/Bi women aren't valid" because your attraction to men or anyone other than a woman doesn't belong in wlw spaces.
Then it was "Nonbinary lesbians aren't valid" because if you're "not a woman" by my definition you're invading wlw spaces.
"Asexual/Aro women aren't valid" because your lack of "real" attraction to women doesn't belong in wlw spaces.
"Lesboys aren't valid" because you are invading wlw spaces with your "masculinity"
"Bi/Pan lesbians aren't valid" because your attraction to men or anyone other than a woman doesn't belong in wlw spaces.
Oh wait? Where have we heard those last two before? Wasn't everyone arguing about those SAME issues with Butches/Trans wlw and Pan/Bi wlw?
Yes, exactly. Would any of you take ONE look back and realize this is only repetition of problems we have already decided don't dictate our identities?
They say, "You're not a real lesbian unless you do this and that and even if you do that you'll never be good enough." No matter what lesbains do, there will always be a problem. Why? Because this isnt about being a lesbian, this isnt about women, this is rhetoric started by terfs and it will never be anything more.
Sure, you can follow their rules to feel valid, but you'll never be good enough. You're an invader too because they'll sprinkle in little things to feed the insecurities and rules that THEY fucking created.
You're not a real lesbian unless you're a "gold star lesbain" meaning you've never dated or been attracted to a man. You're not a real lesbian unless you're feminine. You're not a real lesbian unless you hate masculinity.
Which is just translation for: You're not a real wlw unless you hate men and don't deviate from gender norms. And, WHO would've thought! Is exactly what terfs want.
They sink their claws into the newer generations because they don't remember what our community has had to go through, all they see is the fake issues created and they think it's a threat because they're being fed "This is what's valid and this is what's not" and it seems like it's never going to end because women being anything other than passive and simple with their identities are immediately taken as a threat to the community by those who are insecure and need to demand the exclusion of anyone who doesn't follow their rules to feel like theyre part of a group.
Anti-Bi/Pan Lesbians have become sheep because they only surround themselves with online discourse instead of the real issues LGBTQ people face and in their attempt to keep a "clean community" They're more unwelcomed than the people they tell to kill themselves. So caught up in fake problems others or themslves have made up that they fail to grasp the simplest of concepts: Labels DO NOT exist in real life. Labels are created to help people describe how they feel or identify. They are not and have NEVER been a final definition.
Labels are worn HOWever and WHENever the owner feels like it. They're not collars. They're not cages. You can't use them as such. You can't use them against us.
When? WHEN? When did we decide that a label- A WORD- matters MORE than the real life feelings that real life people are experiencing?
Why did we dehumanize the ability to feel attraction and expression?

don't know who needs to hear this but being queer isn't a competition. if you're a homosexual transgender woman that doesn't make you "more queer" than say a straight transgender man or a cis bisexual person or a heteroromantic asexual person. this is not a hierarchy, this is a community. these labels aren't stars on a uniform determining your rank; just because you have more doesn't mean you are somehow superior to the other queer identities, they belong in the community just as much as you do.

"[Canon Bisexual Character] should have been [gay / lesbian] so they ended up with [Same Sex Character]!"
Wow. That's so interesting! Because there is literally no reason you can't ship that bisexual character with the same sex character as is. No one on earth is stopping you. Bisexual people are attracted to the same sex. You can ship away without changing a single thing about them!
But you keep insisting they should have been lesbian or gay so they could date the same sex and... gosh. It almost seems like... you just hate that they are bisexual!
Huh. Fascinating.

As a flamboyant, theatrical bi/pan guy, the whole "Astarion is gay!" thing REALLY gets on my nerves. Like- it's one thing to have different interpretations of a character, but it's something else to be so adamant that a specific set of behaviors is indicative of your sexuality. It's just
Guys. It's just gender essentialism repackaged with a "queer" bow. Fuck off.

I find it funny when exclusionists say things like "aros don't experience oppression" or "aros have nothing in common with queer people" when... Yes we do. The aromantic experience specifically is extremely similar to the gay/trans experience.
People call us predators, pedos, abusers, mentally ill, and unnatural. (Same as gay people)
When we come out to people, even therapists, conversion therapy is offered or encouraged. (Same as all queer people)
We have trouble figuring out we're aro, some don't even realize it until they're old, because being alloromantic is seen as the natural order. (Same as trans people)
I, as a bisexual and trans aromantic, actually find that my experiences with being aro mimic my experiences with being trans and bi. I became more comfortable with romance when I came out as aro, the same way I became more comfortable with femininity and masculinity when I came out as nonbinary. I experience the same kind of dysphoria when I'm assumed to be alloromantic as I do when I'm misgendered. I find that my internalized doubt at being queer is exactly the same for my aromanticism as it is with my bisexuality and nonbinary identity.
My aromanticism also affects and adds layers to my other queer identities and how people view them. "Love is love" doesn't apply to me and people can't make my attraction "acceptable" by only talking about the romantic aspects (as there is none). It makes the biphobic remarks worse because I'm held up as "proof" that bisexuals are just cheating, horny, players that don't care about anything other than sex. I'm held up as proof of the "chemical castration" of minors because I'm trans and aro. They point to me and go "see? this is what happens to people who transition!"
My experiences with being aro are, at times, nearly identical to my experiences with being bi and trans. But my being aro makes the biphobia and transphobia I experience significantly worse.

Homophobes, biphobes, aphobes and other guys who are too interested in other people's sexuality and bed activities should try reading and writing fanfics. Once they become obsessed with fictional characters and their ships instead of real people, the world will be a much better place

Ah yes, because 'women are not bisexual unless they are dating women' like babes you are thinking of lesbian.
Same story biphobic straights don't like that bisexuals will be in non m/f pairings and biphobic queers don't like that bisexuals will be in m/f pairings.
ITS BOTH THATS THE DEFINITION ITS M/F PAIRING *AND* NON M/F PAIRING BISEXUALS ARE INTO BOTH!!!!!
Curious what they think about bi men or bi anything else. Why just bi women?? Don't even want to ask what they think about being pan.
It's the lgt to them I guess, if they even include the t.

I've got to say something rn.
im so disappointed in some of the WLW community. I see so many posts talking about how bi women shouldn't use "lesbian terminology" like "butch" or "pillow princess". about how m-spec lesbians are appropriating lesbian culture. BI EXCLUSIONISTS: Y'ALL NEED TO LEARN UR HISTORY BEFORE YOU TRY TO EDUCATE OTHERS. bi women were historically included in the label lesbian until they were pushed out by exclusionists. Sappho? the one everybody calls a lesbian? by today's definition, she was bisexual (I have the source at the bottom if you want). hating on m-spec lesbians makes me feel so lonely. instead, why don't we use that energy to address biphobia in the sapphic community? (NOTE: ik most lesbians are not biphobic. i love and care about my les sibs but I can't shy away from this subject.)
