How about a fic where the Fenton portal was opened in like the 90s and so Phantom was the literal First Known Hero. Which is why he was hunted and there wasn’t any law to stop the Anti-ecto acts. And when Phantom Planet happened, he just disappeared, or retired. He went to Gotham U for uni and meets Bruce Wayne there and they hit it off as good friends and later wild romance partners who slept around. And when they graduated they separated to do their own thing but Danny returns once in awhile to visit Bruce.
They also meet randomly when Bruce goes on work trips in random countries and cities. They never mention the kids and Danny doesn’t know about Batman. Bruce doesn’t know about Phantom. He just thinks Danny is an engineer that travels for work. Which he is, but he’s also mainly the Ling of the Infinite Realms and appears in other countries and cities bc that’s conveniently where natural portals are spawning.
What Danny doesn’t know is that since he’s taken up the mantle of king, the zone has changed to match him. So it’s much more welcoming and natural portals spawn where Bruce is bc he lowkey is in love with him and just doesn’t realize it. And vice versa, Bruce is lowkey in love with Danny and they fawn over each other when they meet up without realizing that’s what’s happening. But Alfred knows, he’s known for awhile. And so does Jazz.
So when one day, Alfred brings up that Danny is in town in Gotham and Bruce says to set a time for them to meet, one of the kids hear this and they wonder who this Danny is, bc they’ve never heard his name. It becomes a Wayne Mystery when that week, Bruce is out most nights and portions of the day and comes back looking happy and soft. Which freaks everyone out and they stalk Danny and realize they’re meeting each other and this man is someone Bruce cares about a lot. So they bring him up at dinner one day and Bruce is like, oh yea he’s an old friend of mine. And when pressed on why they haven’t heard or met him, Bruce just says that they’ve never brought it up and since Danny isn’t around a lot, and Bruce is a little self aware of himself at this point, doesn’t want this relationship to affect the kids since they aren’t exclusive or together really.
So the kids plot and get Danny to come to the Manor for dinner. They then realize during dinner, watching Bruce and Danny interact, that holy shit, this is their other dad. They’re so in sync that they don’t realize it and he’s so good with the kids too and Bruce is so happy when he’s around…
Cue the batfamily kids Parent Trapping the two, with the help of Alfred who is all for it bc he likes Danny.
In the end, Danny decides to stay at the Manor and the kids can now call him other dad, or pops, or some variation. But they all collectively don’t mention the vigilante side they have, since they all figured it out themselves. Their new dad can do so too. Which then spirals when all of the kids Omar’s out on Patrol, Alfred is on Vacay, and Danny is alone in the house when Talia comes a knocking, bc she knows that Danny has always had Bruce’s heart and wants him gone. She’s always been jealous of their relationship so she tries to kill him. The family realize what’s happened when Damian sees some League members watching them on patrol and they race back home to see Danny decimating the assassins and Talia. He sees the family in their costumes and thinks, oh wow this makes all the sense now.
And they see Danny as a ghost, which Bruce recognizes as Phantom, the first hero!!!! And they all sit down and talk about it.
There’s probs more too but that’s all I have rn.

Ok ok ok ok so I’ve been reading a few fics/prompts of Danny Phantom having to declare war on the living (he’s ghost king ofc) and I’ve had an idea slowing forming in my head with each one I’ve read and it’s just how I’d envision that scene happening and I need to get it out so here goes (putting it below the cut bc idk how much I’m going to write) how it leads up to this, your choice if you see this and decide to write more/around it. Ok here goes:
They had 13 hours left of the 3 days King Phantom, High King of the Dead, Defeater of the Dark, Son of Time, The In-between, The Balance, The All Star, had given them. 13 hours. 13. The number of the dead, ironic really that that was the amount left.
He gave them 3 days to dismantle the Ghost Investigation Ward, to release their prisoners, his people. 13 hours left and they couldn’t get them to yield their ways. To give up and break up and release the dead they had tortured. King Phantom, no older than 18, gave them a warning and they were failing. War was coming and King Phantom warned them he and his infinite army of the lost souls of this plane and the in betweens were going to march.
It was his final choice to be made in his existence. His last option. His espoir perdu. He didn’t want to do this, he hated doing this but he had to and everyone saw it as his warning was broadcasted onto every possible screen in the United States.
2 hours. They had 2 hours left and they were giving up. Trying to get as many people to safety and shelter as they could. They needed to get the civilians to hide. Gods, there was only an hour left.
And as they watched the sky above Illinois- of all places- shatter and breaks like glass they saw the King emerge as the final seconds ended.
He was stone faced, no one behind him as he stood, floating in the shattered rift of the realms, the portal green. So so green. Swirling like hypnosis. Black armor draped over his body, a sword held tight, white knuckled at his side, a crown of burning ice drifting close to his head. His face was set, cold to those that see him that don’t know him. Expression hard except for the minute furrow of his brow, seen only by those that know him, that see who he is, white hair whipping softly around his face, casting shadows over his green eyes. Oh his eyes. They were the only thing able to show what was going through his mind. They held so much.
Years of experience, of pain, of loss, of suffering and sadness. Of struggling to be heard, to fight for his people and those of this earth. To keep the peace but save what he can in this destructive world. His eyes held so much words didn’t exist to tell what all they showed.
Calmly, slowly, deathly, his sword arm rose. Rose high above his head and fell. Fell until it was straight out, a signal that the war had begun.
Thousands of souls poured out of the portal, though they spared the citizens around not a single glance. They were vaguely human, some just skeletons, some races long since extinct. They only had eyes for the buildings that were beginning to scream. The voices of their prisoners rising until every single one of the Ghost Investigation Ward’s buildings rang with the rage and hurt and pain of those souls.
The army, still pouring from the crack between realms, only targeted those buildings. Flooding the United States searching for those buildings. Men in white suits poured out of the buildings. Raising weapons to the army and unloading everything they had, uncaring of the civilians they hit and the homes and jobs they destroyed, killed.
Then they noticed it, Phantom on the front lines, defending and protecting the civilians as he tore his way through the men in white, Agents they called themselves. Giant frozen Yetis came with him, tending to the wounded he had protected. They creates shelters and barriers of ice to take the wounded and heal them. Bandage them and cover the dead with soft sheets.
The army avoided and even blocked their enemies fire from hitting those shelters, from hitting the homes and jobs as best they could while still fighting. They were angry, rage filled that the Agent cared so little about civilians, all in the name of “getting rid of those ecto scum”
King Phantom and his army fought for 3 days, wiping out any Agent and their buildings that ever existed. Freed his people and made sure they returned safely to the realm of the dead, the Infinite Realms, before he and his army slowly worked on restoring the damaged buildings of the civilians. He gave the dead proper care, tending to the souls that had come back, sending them the portal after they said goodbye to their family.
And when all was said and done, he collapsed, beaten and bloody, into the arms of a god, a being that shifted ages, a clock shoved into his chest, was his chest, and sobbed. Sobbed for all the lives taken, even of the Agents. He didn’t want this, he didn’t want this death and destruction. He wanted peace, for his people and for the living. He was Balance! Why couldn’t he have brought balance peacefully? Why couldn’t he stop this from happening? He tried! Tried so hard to keep this from being a choice. He hated that he had to make this decision.
When everything was restored the best they could and wounded were healed and dead buried, King Phantom gathered his people, entered the rift between realms, and closed it. The one vision of the sky shattering like glass reversing and piecing itself back together, and the army of souls was gone.

Ask and you shall receive but be warned the answers may not be what you are looking for. (IE they are dumb).
So there's technically two canonical versions of Danny's accident, the OG and Memory Blank (s2e1).
The OG happened sometime late summer/early fall of the trio going into high school. The group has been friends for some time (its part canon/part fanon that Danny and Tucker were initially friends with Sam joining later on) and were comfortable enough Dan felt ok letting them over to see his parents' "failed" ghost portal. Sam was intrigued, Danny uninterested on the surface level but secretly curious. Sam encourages him to looks inside, he presses the conveniently placed on button inside and boom, ghost boy.
This recap is made light of in the season 2 opener Memory Blank (my beloathed) while fanon reallllllly runs with Sam's guilt and grief over sorta/almost killing her friend. But I digress, the episode kicks off with Sam and Danny arguing leading her to wishing she had never met Danny out loud. The wish granting ghost, Desiree, overhears and makes it so. Because of this, Danny never had his accident and was completely human with no knowledge of Sam.
This is where the episode upsets me. Sam is upset about losing her friendship with Danny (and Tucker to a lesser extent but they make it creepy 🙄) but its framed as Sam being desperate to get Danny his powers back. If you almost killed your friend in the past and magically got a do over, would you really put him through that again??? There is no real external pressure to make Danny become Phantom again aside from Desiree continuing to grant monkey's paw wishes. Amity Park looks much like it always has, seemingly unaffected by the lack of Phantom. Hell, the portal is still not working so there's a chance there are no other ghosts in town to cause mischief and mayhem. All we see is Desiree who hardly is the worst villain for someone, preferably an adult, to deal with.
Aside from the fact its a cartoon series called Danny Phantom there is no reason for Sam to do this again. And yet she persists in badgering Danny - who does not know her at all - into doing something he has no understanding of the consequences. The lack of informed consent was something that bothered me all the way back when I was 12 watching it live. So Sam makes Danny recreate the accident, making him Phantom again (this time with a logo that Sam slapped on without telling him bc she thought it looked cool. Again!!!! No discussion or anything). We get a few deeply uncomfortable segments of Danny relearning his powers before he magically remembers everything and its back to the status quo except now he's got a logo.
The literal whole point of the episode was to give him a marketable symbol to make him more like a "proper superhero". Sam's selfishness (a character flaw we see woven throughout the series but never meaningfully explored), the lack of consent, the stupid ass plot all combine to create what I think is a travesty of an episode.
I have gotten off topic but, yes, in both cases Sam's curiosity and overbearing nature combined with Danny's more passive personality and sense of wonder to pssp pssp pssp him into the death machine. There has been some excellent fic exploring (in an actual, realistic, interesting way) of the trio coping with Sam's casual suggestion leading to complete biological rewiring, a changed life trajectory, trauma and injury.

Ghost Brother Au resurrecting just like our best boy Danny

My Brain: Okay, so the exact timeline is--
Me: Shut up about the timeline, shut up about the timeline!!
Danny was a member of the Casper High French class when he was in Amity Park. he wasn’t good at it, but it got him by. unfortunately for Danny, he forgot about the Annual Senior Year Trip to Paris.
Danny is working with his parents when Valerie of all people walks into the bakery.

Marinette watches them interact; this is the first person from Danny’s past to ever find him and she’s curious. Is she a friend? An ex-girlfriend? She’s nosy.
They’re thrilled to see each other again, even though Danny is hiding that they know each other from the Dupain-Chengs. Valerie spent the last three years thinking Danny was dead He says that he ran bc he was hiding from the ghost that killed his family, which is true from a certain point of view. They exchange numbers.
Valerie gives his number to Vlad.
Valerie has basically become a full-blown employee of Vlad at this point, still not knowing he’s a half-ghost. Ghosts are still in Amity Park, just not as much in number, probably left over juju from the Fenton portal. Obviously she’s going to report that the boy he’s been looking for for years is in Paris.
Vlad, still a fruitloop and having next to no idea on what actually happened during Ultimate Enemies, is determined to get his soon-to-be son.
What happened from Vlad’s PoV: Danny got caught cheating and the entire family, friends, and teacher met at the Nasty Burger. A ghost--identity unknown--attacks and Danny fights him, but the nasty burger blows up in the process. Everyone dies (and for a while, Vlad thinks Danny died too) and the mysterious ghost is in the wind.
he knows a vague description of the mystery ghost/dan. White flaming hair, black and white suit with a cape, green skin and pointed ears. whoever vlad interrogated didn’t see the phantom symbol on Dan’s chest though
Vlad, instead of being happy that Danny’s been found, is furious. Instead of coming to him after his family died, Danny ran away across the ocean, and even allowed some random people to adopt him!? Even though Vlad’s been trying to find him, even though Vlad was there the entire time!?
He wants his son. Now.
Vlad calls Danny, scaring him, threatening his family. Danny is horrified and furious, but manages to negotiate a meeting, telling Vlad that he’d explain everything. Vlad has reservations at Le Grand Paris at lunch. Danny agrees to go.
Danny tells his parents that he can’t work around noon, he’s eating lunch with someone. Alya is there (sleepover?) and tries to interrogate him about where he’s going and who he’s going with, but Danny shuts it down.
Marinette thinks that he’s going to eat out with Valerie from the other day. Danny’s never dated before (to her knowledge) or even had a crush (again to her knowledge), so Alya convinces her to follow Danny.
Danny dresses himself to the nines, due to the location of their meeting, but takes the time to slip on one of the first bracelets Marinette made for him when he moved it. It’s made of yarn and clay beads, but he loves it. It’s from his new life.
Danny arrives at the restaurant at Le Grand Paris, though he’s there early and takes a seat inside. Alya and Marinette can’t get in at first, but because her mom’s the chef, they get a table nearby.
they’re wearing comically bad disguises, but Danny’s so distracted that he doesn’t notice them.
Chloe spots them and tries to throw a fit, but they fill her in on the deets---aka, Danny’s on a date and they’re spying. I’ve decided that Chloe has a crush on both Danny and Kaitou LeBlanc (non-reciprocated of course), so she’s immediately down to clown with the other girls.
Imagine their confusion when some middle-aged man sits down at the table.
Danny fully intended to tell Vlad what happened. It’s been years, he’s had therapy, but when he tries to tell Vlad... he chokes.
It doesn’t help that Vlad is being a total a-hole about this. Insulting the hotel, the city, Danny’s grasp on the French language (which has improved dramatically, he’s proud to report). Vlad doesn’t particularly care about answers, he wants the son he was promised.
Vlad gives an ultimatum; Danny comes with him willingly and Vlad won’t destroy his family. He’s a powerful man; he can shut down one little bakery, get one girl expelled from school, get two parents arrested for kidnapping. Vlad can ruin them.
It should be noted that Vlad didn’t know about the current situation in Paris. The Mayor had been keeping it quiet. If he’d known, he would have arranged for their conversation to occur outside the boards of the city.
Neither man nor teen notice the butterfly landing on his bracelet.
“Le Phantome, I am Hawkmoth. I will grant you the power to retaliate against the man threatening your family. In return, all I ask is for Ladybug and Chat Noir’s Miraculous.”
Danny knew he should say no. He should fight. But two words slipped out instead. “Yes, Hawkmoth.”
A black, bubbling ooze overtook Danny. In his place was a man with green skin and pointed ears, flaming white hair, and a black and white supersuit with a cape. Almost exactly like Dan.

swagger bishie before they start dating loose "plotline" that i can't let go of but don't have the energy or time to even attempt to draw
(assume basically all of season 3 doesn't exist and dash found out abt phantom on accident)
danny teaching dash how to fight ghosts turns into danny drooling over how strong he is
they both wingman for sam who gets the hardest crush on star out of nowhere (they suck at being subtle but star is just airheaded enough)
dash also wants to go into astronomy but not to nasa. they spend a lot of post-training nights on top of the op center star gazing
the fact that danny is dead (well kinda) scares dash
they have the exact same nasty burger order except dash smothers his with mustard and danny can't stand the sight of it
dash cannot figure out how to work the fenton thermos.... unless dannys hand is on his
working with jazz as a tutor, they're both starting to pull their grades up and enjoy the time away from ghost fighting
football isn't actually important to dash; he quits when danny and jazz help him realize he is smart and doesn't need a sports scholarship (danny gets sad bc he kinda wanted to wear his letterman)
when they realize they have a crush: danny tells tucker first, dash tells paulina first (sam and kwan feel betrayed and team up to figure out what big secret they aren't allowed to know)
dash starts going on more and more missions w team phantom and becomes a key member pretty quickly, but he's really bad at evasion maneuvers
dannys struggle with his feelings for dash, fear of his parents, and growing powers worry dash; danny keeps falling asleep during tutoring and dash tries to let him sleep
ghost activities suddenly increase due to a malfunction with the fenton portal. dash and sam are often the 2 most available to subdue the smaller ones so danny can rest
a close call with skulker that nearly kills dash is the push they need to confess to each other

So... Murdered au
And yes it is a crossover au bc I'm
~☆feeling like it☆~
To start off Maddie and Jack corner and managee to finally get a clean shot at the ghost boy and take him out! Hurray! Everything is better now right? Then Phantom transforms back into Danny.... and he is dead. Like 'hole through his chest' dead. And of course they panic. Because after a few minutes it becomes clear it isnt some trick. They just killed their son.
Oops
Since they can't exactly explain to anyone what happened, and barely understand it themselves, they panic and hide the body, burying it in the forest outside Amity somewhere. They make this big show of being concerned about their missing son while internally they are panicking and hoping no one finds out.
Jazz, Sam and Tucker think they are kinda suspicious but there is still the possibility that a ghost kidnapped Danny so they focuse more on that and trying to find him.
Meanwhile Danny, now a full ghost, wakes up in the GZ (specifically the Far Frozen bc ice core) and doesnt remember anything.
The thing with ghosts in this au is that they usually travel the material realm to jog their memories of their life. Only when they have regained enough memories to be satisfied that they know who they are, only then will they go back to the infinite realms. Some ghosts cant recover their memories, only finding places that are vaguely familiar. Poindexter is one of these kinds of ghosts, where they stay in that familiar place hoping to regain more memories but eventually become tied to it, even if they do have a lair in the infinite realms it'll always be tied to that one vaguely familiar spot.
So Danny immediately finds the closest natural portal (he unfortunately doesnt run into Frostbite or any other ghost) and starts on his way to regain his memories. He travels around a bit before ending up in Gotham, where Cass and Steph are the first ones to find him.
Of course they question what a meta is doing in Gotham and then Danny explains he is a ghost and as the conversation goes on it becomes clear to the girls just how lost and scared Danny is. Cass is the first to believe him with Steph following suit quickly and they inform the other bats over comms about the situation. They dont believe them at first but then they all gather on a rooftop with Danny there and after some more questioning Danny reluctantly takes off the hoodie he had been wearing (that he found forgotten on a bench a city over) and they see the literal hole in his chest and are like "okay yep, that seems like pretty solid evidence".
And Jason of course is internally freaking out a bit because the kid looks so young, he must have been around how old Jason was, and he is a ghost, a freaking ghost, and there is a literal hole through his chest like that must have been painful and the kid just looks so lost and confused.
Danny explains the whole "travelling around to regain memories" thing and the bats agree to help him. They go back to the cave and by the time they get there they all agree that Danny wasnt a gothamite. They start looking through records of any recently deceased or missing kids, Danny helping narrow down the search with the limited info he has.
I'm not sure where the au would go from here, they'd definitely eventually find the case of missing Danny Fenton and Danny would probably point at the missing persons picture and go "that's me!" And then chaos would ensue once they get to Amity park.
Its an idea with lots of angst potential but also fluff bc you really think being fully dead and having no memories of his past would stop Danny from heroing? Nope. He 100% follows the bats out on patrol and helps them take down criminals while he stays in gotham. He usually accompanies either Cass or Jason since they are his favourite of the bats. Jason is immediately like "can we adopt a ghost? Bruce. Bruce if you dont do it I will" and also he will be so angry at the Fentons when he finds out what happened to Danny.

16: If you could change anything in the show, what would you change?
okay so how i would re-do CANON is completely different from how i would talk abt a reboot so im gonna touch on a couple things in both contexts! the reason for the difference is canon rewrites imply i can go back in time and introduce dp fresh and new, before anyone knows what it is; but for a reboot, id be working with an audience that has a better understanding of the source material, so i dont need to spend as much time explaining, but i also need to keep everything recognizable

REWRITE: i would def make it more danny's fault that her dad lost his job, like danny was intentionally being reckless and shattered some security stuff, and he has a whole mini lesson about learning to not just run in guns blazing. i would probably remove the dating stuff with her and danny (and tuckers crush) too, I think them wanting to be good friends is good enough for freshman year
REBOOT: the fandom already knows valerie exists, so i would actually skip the whole shades-of-gray introductory episode and have her be present as the huntress from day 1-- probably even before danny got his powers. cujo is also HER dog, and her backstory-- we'd find out in like, season 1, that a natural ghost portal (maybe one wulf opened) ripped open on her dog and killed him, and since then shes had a vendetta against ghosts cause of how reckless they are and their disregard for life-- of course, cujo isnt actually dead. cujo is a halfa. a puby halfa. anyway instead of a hoverboard she actually rides cujo around cause he can fly and its big and epic. valerie has BEEN amity parks ghost-eradicating superhero for at least a year (tho shes been in the shadows abt it) and her hatred towards danny actually just becomes really petty, like them flying next to each other chasing skulker just going "I got this. no I got this. no I got this" and they just get in each others' way and its a mutual grudge.
BOTH: i am NOT keeping in vlad giving her the suit to watch danny under any circumstances. it was only utilized half assedly in canon (when vlad couldve just had an invisible duplicate watching him instead) anyway, and I dont have any reason to keep it in a reboot either. instead i want her tech to be a combination of half-stolen and half-gerryrigged stuff and she slowly slowly learns how to build her own.
I also dont want anyone knowing her secret identity, except maybe her dad, and sam or tucker. i think it works better if danny isnt privy to this magic info

REWRITE: i would honestly just remove him. the episodes hes in arent particularly interesting, theyre just generic "we need a plot about x" filler and he's not compelling enough a character (at least in writing) to carry a better plot that another antagonist couldnt. i'm serious
REBOOT: unfortunately in a reboot he's gonna have to pop up somewhere or else ppl will be like "where IS HE" so I'm going to stick with running some kind of ghost circus, maybe a few occult things, but cut out a lot of the spooky magical knowledge and mcguffin stuff. maybe i could make him like, someone from vlad/jack/maddies college who always felt pushed around by them and so he has a vendetta? and theyd be the only reason he even learned abt ghosts in the first place. idk in either way I want to force him into being irredeemable but also include LYDIA (the tattoo girl ghost) way more-- I want to give her an arc that ends in her tossing freakshow aside and running off to be a ghost vigilante.
BOTH: dear god the infinity gauntlet is stupid that needs to GO AWAY. especially for the reboot cause it would exist in a post-mcu world and way too many people would complain about it

REWRITE: amp him up to a far more sinister and villainous character. the crushing on maddie isnt enough, I want to show him on-screen performing experiments on ghosts and himself, dismissing everyone else cause he thinks hes smarter than them. i want him to be actively sabotaging the fentons at every turn. i would also clarify that he doesnt actually want danny as a son, but as a trophy-- a line where danny says something along the lines of "you don't want a son. you want a slave". i want to make him a character who wants to destroy the entire planet and put it in the ghost zone so he can be the true ghost king and i want to make this all evident from day one. if i'm writing a series villain you can bet i'm going to write a GOOD one. less petty drama here and more actual stakes.
REBOOT: it seems silly but sense with reboot we have the benefit of hindsight and recognizing that vlad wasn't a big series villain, theres no way i'd actually go back and write him to be such. for starters, of course, theres the fact that anything he does would really be an exaggerated part of the original, and it would bore an audience to see the same story again-- theres also the fact that it doesnt seem right to take a character who was treated as a joke half the time and suddenly make them big and important. no, instead for my reboot i want to lean into the petty gay uncle vibe. he had a crush on jack and now just casually insults him. he moves mansions every now and again by just haunting the family who lives in the one he wants, and taking over-- i mean, who is gonna believe that an actual ghost haunted you. he dislikes danny not because he has some concept of 'evil' and 'good' but bc danny is just too damn active. of course he actually does care about danny and his safety deep down, it's just on the surface they have very conflicting motivations-- not to mention that danny has been raised on legends from his parents of the villainous Wisconsin Ghost, who has to be stopped at all costs.
BOTH: i want jack and maddie to KNOW he's a half ghost and to actively be hunting him down for it, maybe bc they think hes possessed, or been a ghost tricking them this whole time, or the victim of a tragic lab accident who needs to be put to rest, etc. whatever the case it will give vlad actual tangible reason to despise them and genuinely suspect they dont have dannys best interests at heart. i think it would be neat if vlad was cynical and every time danny hit him with the "I'll expose us both. at least theyll still love ME" vlad could be like in the back of his head "oh god theyre going to kill this child"

REWRITE: cut her out. we don't need her character at all. maybe replace her with a more ominous shadow duplicate / clone that actually looks like danny himself and doesnt really have a name? you could probably combine her and dark dans characters for their arcs
REBOOT: instead of a clone from vlad, she's a guys in white creation using some of dannys dna after he was captured (and vlad broke him out bc he was like "ugh i guess i have to save this child")
BOTH: vlad actually cares abt her (duh), shes nonbinary (double duh), she gets the funny dissolve into goo powers

Ok SO I’ve never watched Danny Phantom, but what I get from ur blog is:
Kid walks inside portal/mystery machine, dies but only half, so he’s half a ghost now
This is bad bc his parents are ghost hunters
He also fights crime/haunts high school bullies
There is a bad guy who would be a great character if he was just a tired dad dude, so that’s what u make him, but he instead wants to fuck main characters mom and possibly kill dad??? Unclear.
He wants to achieve this through manipulation/possible müder of half-ghost child.
He is also half a ghost.
The half ghosts can be either people or ghosts depending on the situation.
There is an alternate plain of reality that was ruled by an asshole, but the asshole got beat up by the half ghost child, who is now the ghost king but doesn’t know it
Most of the ghost shenanigans take place in this one specific park and this one specific high school (middle school? I don’t actually know how old half ghost kid is).
There are thermoses that can suck up the ghosts like pokeballs
Half ghost kid has several (very gay) friends who also take part in the ghost shenanigans.
There is this one bully who does not have a crush on half ghost kids super identity, thank you very must (sort of a Chloe/ladybug situation)
Because he’s a ghost he has a core thingamjig that gives him some kind of “driving purpose” or “irresistible urge” but instead of something creepy he just wants to protect ppl

Slight corrections: "Amity Park" is the name of the town, not an actual park. The characters are in High School. While Danny did fight a Ghost King, him becoming the new one is just a fan concept. Same with Cores and Obsessions.
Also there are multiple popular/bully kids that fangirl over Phantom but hate Danny! Well. Mainly Dash and Paulina though Paulina is more "actually written as romance" while Dash is "it's totally hero worship but the viewers read it as gay".
But yeah spot on with everything else.

danny phantom episode 4-7 Thoughts: (under a readmore because, these got kinda long!)
-the outfit danny had to buy for dash's party. CLASSIC 2000S i cannot stop laughing. And also showing up to the party and everyone is dressed like the trio is hilarious. and further proof that everyone looks good dressed goth.
-dash has a closet full of cute lil bear plushies?? LOVE that. adorable. also his response to danny trashing his room fighting a ghost was SO valid if somone BROKE MY BED IN HALF ID BE PISSED TOO.
-technus being like 'oh smart, u should be a tutor!' then later being like 'forget tutor, be a teacher!' :) supportive king <3 I also really like his upgraded suit/design. AND SPOCK CAMEO??? HELLO??
-the music in this show is super. its so funky. I looked it up and the guy who does it, guy moon (awesome name) also did music for other cartoons like fairly odd parents, barnyard, chalkzone, billy & mandy, AND some actual movies like FIGHT CLUB??? the whiplash I got from reading that)
-sam being rich explains a lot about her, actually.

(I didnt go to hs so I might be wrong, if I am ignore this...) freshmen are usually 14-15, could just be a case of them not turning 15 yet but they will sometime in the school year (I say they because tucker said he was 14 too)? I know the show has 3 seasons, so by the end of it will they be older? thatd be neat but usually cartoon characters stay the same age...I love shows where you can see the characters age and grow up, though...three seasons seems like a long time to spend on like, 1 year...

Ok, I’ve tried and tried and tried to write this fic because I see it so clearly in my mind but it’s just not going no matter what I do. But I don’t want the idea to die with me. The closest this came to being written was exile which was an attempt to bleed out some of the energy of this au.
Anyway, so it starts off vaguely similar to canon only more aggressive. There had been underlying tension between ghosts and humans for a while, the dead jealous/angry at the living for disrespecting them. The successful creation of the Fenton ghost portal (and another halfa) was considered an act of war and so the ghosts responded in kind. So basically all of S1 occurs fairly close to canon except ghost attacks are more violent and have increasingly more consequences as time passes. Also the attacks aren’t just in Amity Park with ghosts becoming a worldwide issue but Amity is a focal point. Regular people know the ghosts hate them though they don’t know why. Phantom is very much a controversial figure as he is a ghost but also clearly is fighting off the more violent ghosts.
One day, not long after the events of Control Freaks, Amity Park wakes up to find three of their own are gone. Danny Fenton, Sam Manson and Tucker Foley are nowhere to be found. There’s a massive manhunt, the parents go on TV and beg for information but they cannot be found. Curiously enough, town hero Phantom was also missing. There’s some evidence they left of their own volition so the Mansons and Foleys eventually relent that the kids fled on their own. The Fentons are 100% certain the kids were stolen/killed by ghosts as a statement. And the fact that Phantom went missing around the same time means he was the one who killed them. Jazz knows Danny was Phantom but had no idea what was going on and knew her parents wouldn’t listen she just, kept quiet and privately tried to piece together what happened.
Three years pass and finally it looks like the Ecto War is coming to a close. Young, naive ghosts attempted to raise Pariah Dark in a bid to win. It went disastrously but Phantom (who was periodically spotted around the world, deep in the worst battles of the war) and group of loyal allies subdued the king. By the law of ghosts, Phantom was named heir apparent and he declared that the fighting would stop. Humans and ghosts would have to negotiate and co-exist in peace. But he’s not king yet, no he needs to be crowned at the place where it began, Amity Park’s Fenton portal (”where it all began” has a double meaning of the beginning of the war but also symbolically where Phantom began as Kings assume the crown where their living life ended to show their abandonment of their first life and the commitment to their second). Amity is NOT happy to hear that their former hero is coming home.
Amity has been through the wringer, ghost attacks got pretty bad. The Fenton’s throw themselves into their work to cancel out the grief, they create a group of ghost hunters nicknamed the Reds (for their red blood, ghosts are nicknamed Greens) to control the threat. Valerie heads the young adult division and is considered one of the best, she drops out of school to devote herself to it full time. Oh also her dad is now the Mayor as most have died or didn’t want the job. There are still people who like Phantom and see him as a hero (a lot of Casper Kids) but it’s generally an unpopular opinion in town. Maddie and Jack are ready to obliterate the ghost that took their son’s life the moment he’s within city limits. It’s a powder keg ready to blow. It all comes to a head when Phantom and his entourage arrive.
First off, Phantom looks very different, much less human looking than when he left. He’s clearly aged like a normal teen but his eyes look much, much older. His skin is dead white with a blue tinge to it from his ice core and his aura is super cold. His hair is longer and is very misty that kind of swirls around him and his has fangs and claws. When he’s deep in battle or his obsession, his sclera turn black and he looks scary af. His entourage is ghosts who have sworn loyalty to him, who he picked up along the way after battling beside them for 3 years. Fright Knight, Skulker and Frostbite are recognizable allies. They are not happy that their future King is back in Amity (secretly fearing they’ll lose him once more to his human life). J&M have a shot and are going for the kill when they see something that shocks them; Sam and Tucker are in Phantom’s entourage.
There had been whispers that Phantom interacted with humans, that humans were in his inner circle but this is something else together. And so are Sam and Tucker. Sam is Phantom’s General, she is talented and collected and half feral. She used to be a pacifist but the trials of war and understanding that peace sometimes needs to be fought for made her compromise. She’s covered in scars and an extremely talented fighter. She’s missing her right hand up to her forearm, she can form a ‘phantom limb’ (basically borrowing ectoplasm from her future ghost) to do some things with some powers. Tucker is the support, he uses human and ghost tech to organize, weaponize and generally keep things running. He’s covered in homemade tech (shields and weapons and computers) and he rarely removes. Both he and Sam have kinda forgotten how to interact with and really BE human after so long among the dead. They had attempted to conceal themselves but they had forgotten how strong parental love and recognition is. J&M want to know about Danny, the teens don’t know how to respond but assure them he’s alive. Phantom can’t bring himself to look at them.
This is where I start to lose track of things but there will be parallels of Valerie/Maddie vs Sam as female warriors on opposite sides who are willing to go behind, possibly compromising the things important to them, for victory. Tucker will be contrasted against Jack/Jazz as the one making weapons but also generally keeping the human parts of the team mentally/physically afloat. *Severe* PTSD for all three of them. They’re also unnaturally codependent on each other, get super anxious when one of the trio is out of sight and sleep in a big cuddle pile. They will fucking Kill You if you look at one of them wrong. Vlad will be involved, he had been jailed for war crimes but convinced Walker to stage a coup to overthrow Danny and take the crown before he’s actually declared King and is too powerful. Vlad is more unhinged here, more ghost than human (a hint on what could happen to Danny if he’s not careful). He is eventually defeated but he sacrifices his life for ghost power which, in the end, is what makes him able to be beaten.
There’s lots of ideas on what it means to be live or dead and where the divide really is, is it a heartbeat or it is how you choose to use your existence. On how duty shouldn’t mean you need to give up everything. Because Jack and Maddie believe that Phantom killed their son and, in a way, they’re right. Before they left, the ghost war had gotten so bad and the rumors of Dark being resurrected were going around. Amity attacks were at an all time high, people in their school were being killed just because Danny went there. He realized he had to choose between Fenton or Phantom and he chose to protect the world. He abandoned his human identity and went off to fight in war. Tried to convince Sam and Tucker to stay but they followed him through hell and back. Because Danny spends so much time as Phantom, Fenton is severely neglected. His long hair is cool and floaty as Phantom but is unkempt and stringy, hanging in his face as Fenton. He’s wan and underweight and looks like a walking corpse. He knows his human half will give out soon if he doesn’t give it more attention but he just can’t there’s too much to do, too many people to save.
It would end with Danny being outed to the town, not the world, just the town. Jack and Maddie need to recon with the fact that their boy DID leave of his own choice but only because their failure to protect him (from both the portal and ghosts) made him feel he had to take all this responsibility on his shoulders. Danny also has to recognize that he (and Sam/Tuck) can’t do all this on their own and they can trust and rely on the people around him. Phantom is crowned King but he decides Amity will be his base. The trio eat more, sleep some, catches up on school all the while continuing their duties as King and court. The ghosts also see that Phantom’s humanity isn’t a weakness but a strength and will bring peace to the Earth/Zone so they also take some of the burdens off his shoulder.
Basically I load up heavily with angst at the beginning and end with all the love and comfort imaginable. I just can’t fucking figure out the middle and my motivation will not let me write this shit out. But I can’t let this AU die bc it fucking keeps me up at night.

Happy Dannypocalypse 2020 – Danny Phantom deserves a dark and gritty rewrite bc it has really good potential so I wrote the first chapter
Danny was used to weird shit in his life.
It came with the territory of professional ghost hunting parents. Danny had grown up moving from place to place, his family following the strongest haunting, always in search of potential for a doorway to the other side.
Five years ago, the Fentons settled down in a small city named Amity Park, declaring that the ectoenergies surrounding the area were exactly what they needed to finally punch a hole through time and space to reach the Ghost Zone.
Danny and his sister Jazz finally settled into their new school, made new friends. The hauntings, oddly enough, kind of stopped aside from the occasional poltergeist. Their parents came up with some explanation, but neither of them listened. They were used to weird shit.
Enough so, that when their parents finally built their dream portal to the Ghost Zone and it failed, Danny brought his friends over.
It made sense, honestly. He only had the two friends; Tucker, who was a tech genius; and Sam, who was a self-proclaimed gothic witch and loved all things ghost.
“This is so cool,” Sam gushed, snapping pictures with a vintage black polaroid, “There’s so much weird energy here.”
“There’s no energy,” Tucker scoffed, poking carefully at the large round tunnel that sat in the basement, which Danny’s parents had converted to a lab.
“There is too,” Sam shot back, “You just don’t feel it.”
“I don’t feel it because nothing’s here. This thing is broken.”
“It’s still dangerous though,” Danny warned, zipping into an ectosuit his parents made for their ghost adventures.
“You told us it doesn’t work?” Sam asked, moving towards the mouth of the portal.
“Yeah,I don’t know specifics,” Danny admitted, “Apparently they said they did everything right, calculations and all, but it just...didn’t work. They’ve been troubleshooting all week.”
“This is some complicated stuff,” Tucker said, moving to stand beside Sam at the entrance, “Even I don’t know how they did it.”
“Mom said that it was a combination between ectobiology, computer science, and physics.” Danny stood between the two, everything from the neck down covered in a tight white and black ectosuit.
“Why do you have that in your exact size?” Sam teased.
Tucker scoffed, “You’ve met Danny’s parents, right? They have an ectosuit for each of their kids. Probably have some for us too.”
“We should put them on and go in too!” Sam suggested.
“No,” Danny said, quite firm, “I shouldn’t even really have you guys down here. If we all go in and something happens, my parents are going to kill me.”
“Yeah I don’t really wanna go in all that bad,” Tucker admitted, “I know your parents have like, seven PhDs between them, but this does not look safe at all.”
Danny sighed, tugging on the edges of the gloves nervously, “Okay so I get in there, you take a couple of pictures, and we’re done.”
“Why are you using that thing anyways?” Tucker asked, gesturing to Sam’s polaroid, “It doesn’t even take good photos.”
“Everyone knows that polaroids are better for ghost activity,” Sam replied.
“Yeah, Tuck,” Danny added, “Everyone knows that.”
“Shut up and get in,” Sam said, smacking his arm playfully.
“That’s what she said.”
“Tucker!”
“Sorry.”
Danny sighed and stepped forward, his foot hitting the metal panelling.
Nothing happened.
He stepped inside fully, turning around to smile at the two as Sam snapped a photo.
“So far so good.”
Danny turned back around and made his way through the tunnel. It was about ten feet long and seven feet in diameter, all shimmery steel and green wires. There were some buttons but Danny didn’t really think about them too much, his parents had already spent countless hours inside the thing.
It was strange, being inside of the tunnel. It felt as though everything was muted, he felt lighter, his strides perhaps a bit longer than they had been before.
When he finally reached the end, he turned around again. The tunnel seems far longer somehow, Sam and Tucker too small to only be ten feet away. His head was heavy and he heard a light rushing sound in his ears, like someone was playing ocean noises in another room.
“This is so cool!” Sam’s voice called, echoing slightly through the tunnel. Danny could see her camera flash.
Danny stood there for a little, looking around him at the panelled walls. He knew a decent amount about physics, but aside from that he was lost – he was a space sorta guy, not a ghost hunter.
When Danny’s head started to hurt, he decided to make his way back out. His parents didn’t mind them checking out the ghost portal, so long as they didn’t mess around too much. Jack and Maddie Fenton had put them all in ectosuits and walked them through the portal, explaining what each button did. Danny didn’t pay any attention. He rarely did, to be quite honest.
The tunnel seemed to be playing tricks on his mind, because it seemed to get longer with each step he took. He dragged his right hand along the wall, using it for support as his headache began to worsen. He wondered what the hell was going on, he had never felt like this in the portal before, why now was he suddenly feeling so strange?
Maybe he was coming down with a cold – that might explain it.
And then everything happened at once, but it happened in slow motion.
Danny saw Sam’s camera flash go off, but it lasted far too long. His hand brushed against a button – green, some small part of his brain registered – and pushed it by accident. Sam’s eternal flash was suddenly lost in a wave of green as he felt a shock lace through his body, starting at his hand and travelling throughout his whole body.
It was...strange.
A memory was brought to Danny’s mind, a rather old memory. He was maybe five or six and they were playing around on their aunt’s farm. One of the farm hands, Danny forgot his name, had jokingly dared him to touch the electric fence. He had, and of course he’d been met with a sharp jolt of pain.
This sensation was similar to that, but a thousand times stronger, and it didn’t stop. When Danny removed his hand from the fence, the pain had gone away immediately, leaving only a small tingling sensation.
His whole body felt like that, as if each vein was filled with electricity rather than blood.
He had never been in so much pain in his entire life, which was probably about to end.
Danny could only see green, feel pain, taste metal, smell the scent of something burning, hear a distant scream. Was it him, or his friends? He couldn’t tell.
“It is time.”
The voice seems to be coming from deep inside him, but all around him at once. It is a low voice, a baritone. Through the intense and never ending pain, Danny felt something cold in his gut.
I don’t want to die.
“Few ever do. But you are not going to die just yet, Danny Phantom. This is not the end, but the beginning.”
And then everything went black and the pain finally, finally stopped.
“Danny! Danny! Tuck, I think he’s waking up!”
“Danny, c’mon man, open your eyes!”
As if obeying the command, Danny’s eyes snapped open and he sat bolt upright, gasping for air.
“Danny!”
He looked up to see Sam and Tucker on either side of him, tears staining both of their faces, Sam’s eyeliner has made little trails down her face.
“Wha–what happened?”
His voice cracked and his throat was dry, as if he hadn’t spoken in years.
“We don’t know,” Sam babbled, not bothering to wipe her eyes, “Danny you were just in there and suddenly there was this bright green light and the portal turned on and, and –”
“And then you just stumbled out!” Tucker continued, in no better shape, “You were smoking and glowing.”
“Glowing?” Danny brought a hand to his head, rubbing at his forehead. He noticed that the glove was white, not black like it used to be.
Then the sinking feeling is back and he struggles to his feet.
“Danny, no!” Sam argued, trying to pull him back down.
“You were in there when it was activated!” Tucker grabs his other hand.
His hands tingle for a moment and then his hands are free.
He stumbles his way to the basement bathroom, for the mirror that he knows is above the sink.
Danny doesn’t recognize the person in front of him.
Well, the face itself was the same, but everything else seemed to be reversed. His hair, which used to be inky black like his dad’s, was now a pure white, even his eyebrows had changed. His skin used to be somewhat tanned, but he was pale enough to look like a corpse.
His ectosuit was reversed too – the body of it used to be white with the boots, gloves, and neck black. Now, it was the opposite. But that wasn’t the weirdest – no, the weirdest was his eyes. They used to be a soft blue, like his mom’s, but now they were bright neon green, they even glowed in the dark light of the bathroom.
“I’m...a ghost.”
Danny felt his knees buckle and he slid down, his back hitting the door as he slumped on the floor.
“Danny….”
He felt a warm hand on his shoulder and looked up to see Sam kneeling next to him, Tucker beside her.
He could tell that they wanted to say something, but he knew that no one had any idea as to what to say. What did you tell your best friend who just died and returned as a ghost before your very eyes?
Instead, Danny began to cry. How could he not? He died.
He died.
Sam and Tucker weren’t far behind him. They both dropped to their knees to hug Danny on the bathroom floor, tears flowing freely from their cheeks. The only sounds to fill the basement were soft sobs and sniffling.
Danny didn’t know how long they were sitting there, sobbing on the bathroom floor. But eventually, Danny began to calm down. Maybe this isn’t so bad, a small part of him tried, Maybe we can work with this. Mom and Dad will have a field day. Jazz will get to learn the psychology of a ghost, that’s kinda cool I guess.
As the tears began to slow and Danny was able to catch his breath, something strange happened. Danny had his eyes closed, but the flash of light turned his eyelids red and he heard Sam and Tucker gasp.
He felt...warmer. Danny suddenly noticed how cold the bathroom floor was, how sore he felt.
When he opened his eyes, Sam and Tucker were staring at him in awe. He looked at his hands. They were no longer pale. He took a breath and felt it fill his longs. He raised a hand to his neck and felt his pulse. Slowly, he stood up to see his reflection back to normal. Maybe a little paler than before, his hair wild, but he looked like his old self. He looked alive.
Sam and Tucker still knelt on the floor, staring up at him silently. He knew they were all thinking the same thing: had they imagined the whole thing?
Danny poked his head out of the bathroom. The entrance of the portal was a bright neon green, shimmering like water in sunlight. He went back into the bathroom, holding his hands out for Sam and Tucker.
They both took them, or at least tried to. Their hands passed right through Danny’s, as if he were a hologram.
“Okay,” Tucker finally spoke, “This is getting weird.”
“Getting?” Danny scoffed, trying for some light humour, “We’re way past weird.”
Sam and Tucker stood up on their own, and Danny unzipped the ectosuit covering his regular clothes.
The three of them walked out of the bathroom, Sam and Tucker sitting on the old couch in the corner while Danny paced in front of them.
“What happened after I… passed out?”
“Well there was a great big flash,” Tucker began, “Then the portal turned on and you stumbled out, then you collapsed.”
“We checked your pulse but we couldn’t find it,” Sam added nervously, “You were so cold.”
“Did you call anyone?”
Sam and Tucker glanced at each other nervously.
“We didn’t know who to call,” Sam finally said, “We thought about calling an ambulance, but it was pretty obvious something ghost-like had happened.”
“We were about to call your parents, but then you woke up.”
“So we’re the only ones that know this happened?”
Sam and Tucker nodded.
“Okay.”
“What….happened?” Tucker asked after a minute.
“Tuck!” Sam hissed.
“What?” Tucker demanded, “We saw it! Why shouldn’t we ask about it?”
“It’s alright,” Danny assured, stopping his pacing and sighing, “It all happened pretty fast. I just remember Sam taking a photo, then pressing a button by accident, I think I was electrocuted, everything went green, I heard a voice then...then everything went black.”
“A voice?” Tucker asked.
“Like, the Grim Reaper?” Sam asked.
“I don’t think so,” Danny said, trying to remember, “I think it was a man’s voice, it was really deep. He said something like ‘you’re not going to die just yet, Danny Phantom. This is just the beginning’.”
“Wait, Danny Phantom?” Tucker asked, “You sure he didn’t say Fenton?”
“No, I’m sure,” Danny said, “He definitely said Phantom.”
“But he said it was the beginning of something?” Sam asked.
Danny nodded, “Yeah, not the end, but the beginning. No idea what he meant though.”
“Maybe it’s like the tarot card, Death,” Sam suggested, “Like, it means a transformation. Something ends so that something else can begin.”
“That’s all well and good,” Tucker said, “But what does it mean?”
“I wish I knew.” Danny sighed again and rubbed his eyes, “I’m sorry guys, I’m really tired.”
“Don’t apologize,” Sam said, standing up to lay a hand on Danny’s shoulder.
“Yeah,” Tucker added, “I mean, you did get electrocuted in a portal to the afterlife, so I think you’re allowed to be a little tired out.”
The three of them laughed, but the laughs were preceded by so many tears that they sounded almost forced.
Danny led his friends out and they promised to call him once they got home. He waved to them as they walked away and sighed when he closed the door.
He was glad no one was home, because he was sure that someone would’ve heard him scream. Danny wandered back downstairs to put everything.
“Wonder what I’ll tell my parents,” he said to himself as he folded up the ectosuit to put back in the wardrobe, “Maybe I’ll tell them it just...came on.” Danny groaned, “That’s no good. Maybe I’ll say there was an electrical surge and it turned on. Yeah, that makes sense.”
He put the ectosuit away and began to pick up the photos littered across the lab floor. Sam would probably want them so he didn’t throw them out, but he didn’t look too closely at them.
Until he found the last photo that Sam took.
It was the same one that had flashed just as he pressed the button and it was...kind of haunting.
The photo was all kinds of distorted, even the white edges tinged a sickly green. In the centre was Danny, his arm touching the edge, his body looking to be in the middle of a convulsion. It was hard to tell with the distortion, but it looked as though there was a ring of white light around his chest and waist. He looked like he had as a ghost, but in the middle part, in between the two lights, his suit looked like it had before.
Danny was about to put the photo away, slightly disturbed that Sam had managed to catch the exact moment of his not-death, but something else caught his eye.
There were two shadows in the background, blurry and pixelated at the same time. One shadow looked humanoid, while the other looked like a blob with a head and arms holding onto something long. He wondered if the shadows belonged to whatever had spoken to him while he was in the portal.
Danny shook his head. There was nothing he could do at the moment, and he was too exhausted to think properly. The only thing he wanted to think about was his warm bed – he wanted to get in it and sleep for a very, very long time.
Danny gathered all of the photos and took them upstairs. Mechanically, he got ready for bed. He didn’t remember brushing his teeth or putting his pajamas on, but when he climbed into bed, his breath was minty and he was changed.
Danny was worried that sleep wouldn’t take him, but he could already feel the darkness settling in, far calmer than the darkness before.
As he drifted off to sleep, Danny mulled over the words from the mysterious figure. Two words in particular held firm in his mind.
Danny Phantom.

It’s been a rough day lads, and this is purely self-indulgent nonsensical headcanon stuff that I wrote while partly crying over stress! Thus, fun fact for you! You can’t critique or criticize this because if you do, I absolutely will cry again! I know it sucks, it jumps around and makes Zero Sense bc editing? idk her but I just need to be able to post my fun shit and have a good time :’) I’ll even put literally everything under the cut

“Cas?”
Danny looked up from his phone to glance at his mom before his eyes shifted to see who she was referring to. A dark skinned man about his mom’s height with black hair to his shoulders, in jeans and a dark yellow t-shirt was standing with a grocery cart. The man looked around confused for a moment before turning to his mom. Once facing her, he shot her a bright smile.
“Aye, Mads,” he called out cheerfully.
“Oh, I haven’t seen you since college!” Maddie exclaimed, and Danny internally groaned. He returned his attention back to his phone, continuing to lean onto the grocery cart. He began to text his friends about the interruption. “I can’t believe you came to Amity Park and didn’t tell me!”
He heard his mom continuing to chat. His name soon came up, and he glanced up.
“This is my son, Danny.”
Cas was giving him a bright smile. Danny gave a polite half smile in return, only to freeze as ghost sense went off. He noticed at the end of the isle, a young adult turning the corner, in his early twenties with very long, light blonde hair. Super long, especially for a guy. Jean jacket and dark washed jeans, a regular black band t-shirt. Very ordinary.
“Dad, they don’t have any salt,” he complained, but he paused upon seeing the conversation.
“Oh, uh, this is my son, Peter,” Cas introduced briefly, and his entire demeanor shifted. Danny couldn’t help but completely forget the texting conversation. This dude was suddenly...so nervous. “Peter, this is Maddie. We went to college together.”
Peter didn’t come any closer to them. He gave a light, polite wave from afar, and Danny knew that he was staring at his mom...almost nervously.
“I’m terribly sorry, but we need to get going,” Cas apologized. He pulled the grocery cart with him as he stepped towards his son. “Busy schedule. It was good seeing you!”
“Oh you too!” Maddie was cheerful, seemingly oblivious to the others. The father son duo left the isle, and out of sight. Danny watched after them.
“Where’d you know him from?” Danny wondered. He glanced to see Maddie putting some boxed dinners into their cart.
“Cas? He was an old classmate of your dad and I. Before Vlad, he worked on the portal with us, but ended up dropping out to care for his son, but I’m so glad to hear that he eventually went back and finished. He was always a very smart man,” Maddie replied. She glanced at the list in her hand. “We don’t have much more to get. Let’s try to get done before the rush really comes in.”

“Phantom,” a voice called out to him. Danny glanced over to see Peter standing nearby. The halfa shot him a smile, capping his thermos and a light salute. Though inside he was a bit shaky. Was he really just? Watching that entire fight?
“Hello, citizen!” Danny put on his public hero voice. He paused, half turning away as he prepared to leave. “Well uh, ghost’s contained. I’ll see you around!”
“No!” Peter’s harsh, desperate plea caught him off guard. “Please. We need to talk. I know your secret.” Danny’s blood ran cold.
“What secret?” Danny asked quickly. “There’s no secret. I’m a ghost, what secret could I have?”
Peter’s look, that absolute knowing, scared Danny. Despite it, he didn’t seem malicious like he had feared.
“You can’t run, because I really, really actually need your help,” Peter asked. “I know you’re half ghost.” He hurriedly added at Danny’s panicked look, “But I don’t know who your human half is! I don’t care who either, I just really need to know how you’re so stable.”
The entire statement caught Danny absolutely off guard. Peter wasn’t giving off any kind of vibe like he was with the Guys in White, nor that he was going to hurt him. He couldn’t even sense anybody else around, and he had been fighting in the area long enough to have already set off booby traps if they existed. And his ghost sense...had gone off around him sporadically.
“What do you mean?” Danny asked. Peter’s lower lip trembled.
“I’m half ghost too,” he claimed. Danny stared, his heart stopping. “But I can’t...it’s literally killing me.”
“I don’t believe you,” he whispered. Peter motioned for him to move back a bit. Danny did.
There were no familiar rings or flash of light that always signaled his transformation. A dark shadow seemed to overwhelm the other, and left behind a figure that was unmistakably ghostly. Electric blue skin that was forever crackling with purple energy with matching purple eyes, the once blond hair now pitch black and floating around him softly. His outfit didn’t change, but Danny’s ghost sense did go off.
Peter held his hand up, and a purple dome shield came up. An ectoplasmic dome shield. He didn’t know how to feel at this revelation. Danny could only stare in awe at the other. There was more like him. It wasn’t just him and Vlad and Dani. They weren’t alone, there were oth-
The newly exposed halfa doubled over with a groan of pain. The shield quickly melted away, and Danny tensed up. He took a step forward.
“D-Don’t!” Peter’s voice gurgled, and Danny stopped. The newly discovered halfa fell to his knees and knees, and he threw up as his ghostly form melted away. As the form melted away, Danny could feel the air being filled with a rush of electricity and static before it finally faded.
“...Are you okay?” Danny called out.
“Yeah, that’s normal,” Peter wheezed, wiping his mouth as he stood back up, wiping his knees of dirt and gravel. “My ghost powers are super unstable. I can’t…not without...” He paused before glancing up at Danny. “Did you ever have a time where you were struggling to get your powers to work?”
“Yeah,” the teen nodded.
“I’m the opposite. I have to force myself to turn it off, and it takes so much energy, and every time I just try to utilize a little bit of power, it’s this…” Peter trailed off. “It’s overwhelming. And it hurts. And I can’t just bottle it up forever. If I don’t let it lose sometimes...it’s not pretty. I try to do it in isolated areas. Just let the excess energy out.”
Danny could only imagine the kind of destruction. If he had to guess, based on the electricity in the air, this guy had some kind of electric core.
“How’d you...know about me anyway?” Danny changed the subject.
“I didn’t put puzzle pieces together, if that’s your concern,” Peter assured him. “The other halfa told me.” Danny’s eyes widened. “It’s why my dad and I came to Amity Park. We’ve been looking for a halfa to help us, or uh, rather help me.”
“Wait Vlad told you!?” he blurted out. What the fuck, cheesehead!? Oh, when Danny found him, he was gonna.
“No?” Peter’s puzzled tone snapped him out of his anger. “There’s...more than just us three left?” Danny’s undead heart skipped a beat.
“Five,” Danny replied. “Who’s this other halfa?”
Peter stared somberly at him, glancing at his feet briefly as he toed with some of the rubble.
“...I don’t know his human name. I purposefully didn’t ask,” Peter told him. “I originally asked him to help me, but he’s in a terrible spot and needed help of his own, help we couldn’t give. Not without getting ourselves in worse trouble. He said you were a halfa though. It had to be worth a shot. There’s not many of us left anymore.”
“How’d you even become half-ghost?” Danny asked curiously. Peter cocked his head in confusion.
“I was? Born this way? Ghost mom, human dad?” he said slowly. He studied Danny curiously, and it seemed to click. “Wait were you not born half ghost?”
“You were born this way?” Danny asked back. His mind was going crazy. You could be born a half-ghost? That was possible? How come his parents never knew that? This would definitely explain why his dad seemingly dropped the Fentons as a friend... “Wait, many of us left?”
Peter’s face told him nearly everything. Something happened. Something bad. The other cleared his throat.
“Um...yeah,” he said quietly. “It’s kind of a long story. I don’t know all the details, cause I was kinda young, but basically...there was a lot of us. We had our own little section of the Ghost Zone. Do you know how the Bermuda Triangle is a giant natural ghost portal?” Danny nodded in confirmation. “There’s a section of the Ghost Zone near where it spawns most often that we used to inhabit, because of all the otherworldly crossing. Well, we were there. Before the Guys in White found out about us, and they came, and.”
His breath hitched. Danny felt sick. The Guys in White...knew. The hairs on the back of his neck stood up. They not only knew, but did this...oh fuck then that meant that there was a chance that they knew about him, and Vlad, and…..oh no.
“My dad said I nearly died too,” Peter continued. “One of the full ghosts saved me, smuggled me out. And my mom’s a doctor and was able to save me, but I was in a coma for like two months. Some made it out alive too. The unlucky ones…”
“...Died?” Danny guessed quietly. Peter let out a breathless chuckle.
“No. They’re lucky if the GIW just killed them,” he replied flatly. “It’s honestly terrible. I don’t think you wanna know.” Peter was right; Danny didn’t want to know. It was Peter’s turn to be curious. “So...you weren’t born this way? Right? So how…”
“I was in an accident,” Danny kept it simple. Peter raised an eyebrow.
“Must be one hell of an accident,” he commented. Danny chuckled nervously. Peter sighed heavily. “So, I still don’t know if you can actually help my stabilization issue…cause of the differences…”
“I’ll do what I can!” Danny blurted out. Peter’s face brightened. “Please. I’d love to know more about halfas. We can compare stuff.” The young adult let out a sigh of relief.
“Come to my house tonight, my parents can tell you everything they know,” Peter agreed. He reached into his pocket to pull out the familiar small notebook. He ripped a page out, jotting down an address Danny already knew. “Just...come alone.”
Danny nodded, holding his hand out for the paper. Peter gave it to him, and despite the other powering down, Danny still felt a bit of an electric shock as they grazed hands.
“I’ll see you then,” Danny promised.
Grasping the note, he waved a goodbye, and he flew out. He had so much to tell Jazz.

Hiya! I’m ghostly-shenanigans-in-progress but since it’s a sideblog I can’t send asks. But I would love to know more about your halfa au and other hcs you have for your favorite ghosts!

BUT
Since this is a reverse role AU, but actually try and reverse the roles, get it?
Basically this rag tag group of halfa kids team up and fight the baddies from the ghost zone, which they try to avoid at all costs. And since it's reversed, the bad guys are just as evil as you think.
I wanted to put in a little more diverse characters and more POC bc I think it's what the show needed more in the first place, so I added bits and pieces to try and make it more...specific to today's time?? I guess you could say? (I've always loved the hc that danny was trans, so I added some genders/sexualities to make it seem that not everybody needs to be straight or basic male/female)
Hopefully it'll piss bitch fartman for being the homophobe he is
I got super focused on the kids and their personalities and making their lives into an alternate universe
I've made little tweaks and have gotten to where I like everyones' roles in place.
Sidney Poindexter and Youngblood are human adults; since they both died so young, why not give them their own liveable lives? Lunch lady and Box Ghost are also human, probably bc they died from most likely horrible accidents, make them human too
Now there are still ghosts that are ghosts. Pandora, Ghost Writer, Wulf are examples. Except they protect the human world from any bodily harm from any threats from the ghost zone, until the kids came along and did it for them. They accepted it, but taught the kids important rules and powers they needed to learn
On the GZ:
No one goes in or out at all costs. The kids have learned to stay very very far from the portal, for fear of being used as a stuffed decoration on someone's wall, or killed altogether
Even the full ghosts that use to live there stay away; which is why there's more ghostly residents wreaking havoc on the city. Don't worry, the kids can handle it
Only the older three ghosts know why no one tries to stay in the gz, but they just won't say (ghost king phantom)
It's about as desolate as it is in the show, except with more ruins and extremely old relics kept by the observants, who try and protect anything in the zone as much as possible; relics, artifacts, books of the past, anything to hold onto history of ancient ghosts, and what was once a time of peace
I feel so excited about all of this that I've taken so much dedication to bringing this au to everyones' eyes, and make them have these great ideas about this and create their own aus or storylines or comic strips- it's so great!
I'm sorry, this is all I could think of for now. I'm working on a p2 character spreadsheet of the characters as halfas or *cough cough* old ancient beings of power *cough cough*

Even Danny points out how Vlad’s disguise for his portal is so obvious out of place, but how in the hell did DD NOT find it??
ngl this ep does give credence to the theory that Plasmius and Phantom aren’t 100% Danny and Vlad since Phantom clearly had a mind of it’s own and then even Vlad mentions that his own ghost half had great evil in it. But since DD is half Plasmius and half Danny then why is he explicitly stated to only be Danny? He’s both which actually means he’s neither and his own person, like MA in The Evillious Chronicles..

I JUST realized years later that Danny has all the gadgets because Vlad actually prepared him for the fight...

Since Danny kept all his memories, they should have explored how he felt about Vlad since he helped him and clearly felt guilt about how he treated Jack, but nope, future episodes ignore this, even Masters of All Time which is about Vlad AND Clockwork....
Ah yes, the implied return of DD that the writers also forgot about, just like the Vlad/FK deal :^)
