I got bored my sweet and lovely readers and stumbled upon a beautiful british dude who talks about his prince albert and his uncut cock so yeah. That’s rattling around in my head. He got 1 nipple pierced while drunk. He was supposed to get both but after the first he sobered right up. Swore to never go back to the piercing shop (did but that was to get drunk tattoos)

For tattoos he has a Scottish flag with the words “Scotland Forever” under it in nice text but it was supposed to be over his heart (its on his right pec). And uncut but like a really pretty and thick uncut. I’ll… give more details in a fic later if its requested. Because there’s so much I could say.

Ghost

Got a single ear pierced the night Johnny got his nipple done. He let the hole close and didnt take good care of it so it got a minor infection once. Also see him getting something like a lorum piercing while drunk, probably screamed really loud, still blames Johnny because they were both really REALLY wasted. Uncut.

Gaz

Got both his ears pierced and his eyebrow done about two years before he started basic training. He’s let the eyebrow piercing close over the years but still occasionally puts studs in his ears. Uncut.

Konig

Lowkey probably gets off on certain pains so I feel like he got both his nipples pierced and its not bc of that one render I see going around, because of that render I do believe he has a cthulhu tattoo. I fully believe this man would get like a Prince Albert piercing for the hell of it. Definitely uncut, Europe is generally uncut from my understanding and I just dont see it for him personally.

Krueger

Nope. He’s more likely to have tattoos than piercings. Couldn’t keep them clean. Probably did get a stupid tattoo when he was a kid that he regrets. Uncut.

Keegan

I feel like he got an ear bar as a teen. Idk if he still has it bc it would prob catch on the baklavas but I feel like he did. Cut and probably really clean.

okay, so i posted a timeline. sue me! i quit all other social media last year and needed that dopamine hit. just a lil nicotine patch for online attention. seasonal depression is a bitch okay. i posted it here and to ig, bc ig is to late millennials what facebook is boomers. and people have all said some very nice things, but when you're posting a 10 year timeline, you're usually hoping for someone from your past to see it and go "woah! you're so different now"!

and whaddya know, this time it worked. one of my exes from when i was a teenager saw it. not one of the ones who turned out to be a lesbian, one of the ones who turned out to be a trans man. He just wanted to say hi - that he was so happy to see that i looked happy, and that i looked incredible, especially compared to the scruffy twink they had dated. (okay those are my words not his)

he and I didn’t have a great relationship at first - no one had a great relationship with me before i realized i was a trans woman obviously, but this was pretty young. I was really repressed and weird back then, and still very much without any social graces, and we were only like 16. they caught the full broadside of my emo fuckboy energy and got out fast once they saw that - i don’t blame them. I was crying in their arms about how much i hated my new body hair, and how i wanted to be able to wear dresses, and the next day i’d be completely emotionally unavailable and denying all of it. not exactly boyfriend material, not entirely boyfriend. They were very traumatized too in their own way, just realizing they were trans too, and engaging in a lot of ‘i want to be a gay man’ antics, fucking their way through the pain. He was frankly way too cool and sexually liberated to be wasting his time with that version of me. And it was very obvious to everyone who knew what that was 12-15 years ago that i was a closeted trans girl. we had a friend group that eventually fell apart, and we parted for the first time.

Later, in our late teens/20, we would end up fucking - i had started to accept and announce that my gender was complicated, and i was starting to be kinda faggy and loud about it, and not everyone hated that, and they had just started T and were boy horny. We split a bottle of wine (or was it two? It was probably two) and started watching an ashley tisdale movie. Looking back on it, how it went must definitely have been his plan, but i’ve always been blind about this stuff and was that night. It was definitely bad sex, but it was also fun sex - the first time I enjoyed myself, and the pressure of having to be a guy wasn’t so overwhelming i didnt effectively black out. he’s one of the first people i ever talked to about feeling complicated about gender, and i think by then he had figured me out, and was just letting me get the rest of the way on my own. I still couldn’t top for him, i never rly could top for anyone, even before estrogen. but we still had fun, with our hands and with our mouths. and then after that, we'd go to art shows and poetry readings and hang out again occasionally, like we talked about doing when we were literal kids, putting on rocky horror in our front rooms.

but life takes you away from people, and he got into film school, and i somehow graduated my chemistry program and moved to the US. he moved to Germany for a while, although i hear he's back home. i got married, got separated, there was a global pandemic. we hadn't talked in years, although i had snooped on him once or twice. He’s a director now - he’s made some impressive arthouse films, all horror and gender and kitchy campy cerebral themes. He’s got a big tv writing credit on the way in irish tv. Idk - it felt rly good to impress him, to say hi, to remember. it's really cool to see other trans people thriving and living life, always. anyone who cleaves reality to themselves and fashions themselves into someone they can love is someone who impresses me. but it's different when it's someone you've known for almost half your life - someone you were a fucked up kid with, not sure if either of you would make it to 18. and to be smiling at each other, looking at 30, and wondering what's next. i'm really proud of the both of us actually. and i needed that today.

what a blur the last half of february was! I read three books, the last two being less than 100 pages I all but slogged through.. something in the air! however - and likely incidentally - I caught up with/watched more TV than I've watched in months (including The Bear finally! will discuss at the end) so you win some you lose some in this cycle of #Conscious/deliberate content consumption 🌀

Junky by William S. Burroughs

I've tried and failed so many times to get into beat literature for the sake of #Context and #Understanding as an #AmericanReader and particularly as someone who enjoys media grappling with the disillusionment with the American Dream, but I fear the few read I've tried have all been too obtuse, boring, and/or one-note to me. I also doubt my reading explorations will ever measure up to the high expectations teen-me held after watching Kill Your Darlings (2013) for the first time -- though I think the chaotic-sensual aura I was so drawn to in the first place aligns more with dark academia (before it was even named dark academia) rather than the (supposed) gritty introspection of the beat era. Additionally, a quick wikipedia peruse of some of the more prominent names feature an uncomfortable paragraph or two exposing questionable ethics + political/social alignments, so most of my curiosity has been marred if not killed completely. I definitely wouldn't say Burroughs is the lesser of however-many evils in that sense, but I feel like Junky specifically has been referenced a lot in memoirs/essay collections/discussions of queer subcultures I've enjoyed so FINE! CURIOSITY KILLS THE CAT! I can recognize its groundbreaking impact contextually, but maaaaaan Go Ask Alice was a more titillating read. meandering in a repetitive way with no real juicy syntax to make up for it - it was so Whatever. I guess it wasn't long enough to be a waste of time, but I don't feel as if I've missed anything life-changing all these years. at least I can say I tried!

Crazy For Vincent by Hervé Guibert

speaking of questionable ethics 🫢 troubling, but at least short enough to digest in a night or two. I love when I find out a film I enjoy's screenplay was written by an author (or vice versa) bc it's like gaining access to another angle of their storytelling, and back in January I watched The Wounded Man ('83) which really stuck in my head for weeks. Manic urgency practically radiating off the screen, that kind of burning desire that makes you hold your breath -- like of Course I had to see how that translated in Guibert's written texts (though now thinking about it, I think it was moreso about all that was unsaid + the performances themselves rather than the dialogue specifically, but I DIGRESS.) one of the reviews I liked for The Wounded Man includes a quote by Clarice Lispector (another author I want to explore): "Having passions does not mean living beautifully but suffering pointlessly." So fitting for the resonant desperation throughout this short piece, so much pathetic longing you're all but limping with relief once it's over. shadowboxer or daredevil by fiona apple, that sort of hopeless growling croon. I think I'll check out Guibert's journals eventually when I'm feeling particularly self-loathing 💭

The New Testament by Jericho Brown

Note to self: no poetry while traveling!!! My head and heart were simply not in it as they ought to have been which is a shame because with the few pockets of fully-devoted attention I had to spare, the glimpses I got were beautiful. I used to think poetry was kind of the perfect non-committal yet complementary companion for any occasion, but being as deep as I am into this June Jordan collection, I've definitely evolved my way of thinking (more on that at the end of this month/when I finish the collection). Still very graceful and angry and hard-hitting, though I want to revisit this eventually in a more cohesive way rather than picking up and putting down in disjointed fragments

After I finish the two books I'm currently in the thick of, I think it's in my best interest to take up something lighter/more straightforward. I picked up a bite-sized Jean Cocteau at a used bookstore and I forgot I'd placed a hold on The Stranger by Albert Camus so those will likely follow, then maybe a memoir/something food-related because, finally, THE BEAR!

I didn't intend to watch the whole thing so soon, but I was with a friend who'd already seen it and I mentioned it was on my radar so we watched the first episode which of course turned into a two-day binge (huge for me!!) The performances were all so amazing, I found myself frustrated that everyone wasn't getting an equal amount of screen time/backstory bc I was so invested in each character LOL which is a strong start to a series I'd think! I loved the evolution of everyone's dynamics, the varying degrees of respect/trust and modes of communication, the vein-popping chaos and claustrophobic passion of it all. I totally get why Kitchen Confidential has been referenced so much in discussion - I'd think Bourdain would approve! I've also had a soft spot for Jeremy Allen White since Shameless so I'm thrilled that he's getting his time to shine - this role suits him so well! HOWEVER . the soundtrack and editing felt inconsistent and sloppy at times which really took me out of it, and I was soooo disappointed with the general (lack of) stylistic distinction/direction. story and performances aside, it kinda felt indistinguishable from any other Hulu Original Show™ - granted I barely watch TV (let alone Hulu Originals) nowadays so what do I know, but it just felt Too devoid of the cinematic gumption I was expecting given the setting/subject matter - which of course were supplementary to the broader scope of dealing with trauma/grief while running a business in the hellscape of late-stage capitalism, but still..... what was with those Food Network ass montages plsss this isn't Giada At Home!! what's the point of setting this at a deli if I end up craving a chocolate cake more than a sandwich?? where were the sensual meat cuts? the delicate intricacy of razor-thin garlic slices a la Goodfellas? the crackling of fresh bread ASMR? but I'll Acknowledge again that it has been a minute since I've watched/finished a new tv show - I'm mostly a film gal so in that sense I'm probably being more critical than necessary or fair when it comes to a literal 20-30 minute-per-episode tv show so FINE it's literally FINE 🧘‍♀️ though there's also The Crux of being so late to a popular piece of media that's been gif'd and screen cap'd to death and generally seems to have already had its wave of Cultural Discussions so the Meat and Intrigue of it all had kinda been diluted/dumbed down for me upon starting. maybe if I'd watched it when it was initially released it'd hit harder and I'd be as blown away as everyone else, but for the most part I just had a fun time and haven't really thought about it since (though I'll likely rewatch before s2 whenever it comes out)

okay this is not getting read by anyone and this came out like 2 years ago but i really wanted to get some thoughts down.

first of all! the JLI timeline in this is somewhat confusing. ted and booster seem like theyre in their in the forties/maybe fifties for ted which seems about right, but tora and guy seem like theyre in their twenties/mid thirties at the latest? the age range isnt an issue by itself bc obviously the characters couldnt have all been the same age in JLI. but the way they talk about their days on the team together, it sounds like it happened a good few years ago so is the implication that tora was in her teens when this was happening? so then why does she look pretty much the same in the photos/flashbacks while ted especially looks a lot younger? and also they do mention her and fire being on multiple other superhero teams before they join the JLI like in the original run so how old was she supposed to be then ???

i feel like this issue is mostly because they wanted tora to be like this younger more innocent (or is she) woman to christopher guests middle-aged cynical man which is obviously a staple pairing in noir writing. but like … aside from the kindof weirdness that dynamic always brings, in this case it also confuses the story a bit. and it’s definitely a departure from the orignal JLI where her and bea are probably late twenties at the youngest when they join the JLI.

which brings me to one of the fundamental issues ive seen people have with this: tora’s character. she doesn’t really fit the femme fatale character but tom king keeps trying to force her into that role for the sake of the crime noir genre he’s going for and it just isn't working for me. more than (almost) anyone else she reads like a very different character than the one established in justice league international. instead of being generally quite open and honest, its implied shes trying to manipulate christopher guest with her feminine wiles (?) or something. which just seems like an odd fit for her character.

the only characterisation that i found more egregious was guy gardner (rip). it genuinely does feel like tom king had heard secondhand abt guys character, decided he was a bad guy (no pun intended) and wrote him to be that in this story. calling tora a bitch repeatedly, basically stalking her and christopher guest, overall just acting abusively towards her. i hate it! who let tom king near this man! never in my life have i seen such character assassination before. i never want to see the words ‘my little girl’ written on a page again.

i also did not really care for the way tom king wrote ted. his character in this can be simplified to just eccentric™️ businessman who talks too much. and is also the blue beetle. its not awful but i feel like it really misses what makes ted a fun character to read. like if you’re going to have so much text on each panel covering up greg smallwoods beautiful art then at least have him make a few jokes? i was also gonna talk about booster gold in this but its gotten wayyy too long so i’ll just say he feels like a bit of a caricature and he is saved only by greg smallwood’s ability to draw facial expressions.

saying all this, i actually have been enjoying this story. i dont understand why tom king didnt just make up a new superhero team à la watchmen and have the story been about them instead of using pre-existing characters whose personalities dont fit the genre. as a fan of raymond chandler’s books i actually think tom kings done a good job of blending the more serious noir influences with the superhero setting whilst still maintaining a consistent tone throughout. and the pacing is really good! it somehow manages to feel like a slow burn whilst having a lot happen over a few days. so its annoying that this story feels a little wasted on the justice league characters and vice versa.

anyways

i’m still kind of torn on this story and if i like it or not. i’m probably going to keep reading bc i’m invested now so if i do i might make a second post for issues #7-12. and greg smallwood’s art deserves its own post with examples so i might do that too when i’m finished with this.

always fun to see reading-teaching discourse bc my experience of learning to read was so far removed from any of the methods ive seen discussed.

to make a long story short, eyesight so bad you cant read a whiteboard (drastic understatement) plus sensory overload problems, auditory processing issues, and genuine misophonia means actual learning in a classroom was essentially just not a thing for me until much later, so the phonics tapes i had to sit through were wasted on me and in fact the overlapping sounds of almost thirty kindergarteners all repeating syllables and sounds slightly out of sync with each other drove my tiny self to the brink of madness and murderous rage. good thing i had already learned to read in a bizarre brute-force method or i wouldve been fucked.

my grand method that i had stumbled into a few years before, was extensively examining (at inches-from-my-face range) a cardboard thing my household had with the uppercase and lowercase letters on it, learning the shapes and which sets went together, getting the names of the letters from my mother, and then annoying whatever adult was around quite a lot by paging through a dictionary, squinting at it from way too close, and going "How do you say this word: L-E-T-T-E-R-S." within the year appended immediately by "No I don't need the meaning just say it." after i painstakingly gained enough words that most of the definitions and sample sentences more or less made sense, and the ones that didnt, i could exhaustively do dives on the words in a definition until i found an synonym that did make sense and work my way back up from there. i would usually check the pronunciation of a given word with a few different adults to bc of differences in their accents.

the effect of this is that for a long time (well into my teens) the natural state of my reading included almost every word read or written being prefaced with a quick internal recitation of its letters, and lacked the 'internal voice' apparently most people 'hear' when they read.

which might sound weird for some people i guess but the end result was fluid enough to get me through multiple books a day so. misophonia wins ig. i have checked out the historical stuff and do agree phonics is the way to go for vast majority of kids and cueing is a crutch that doesnt need to be taught as foundational bc of its flaws. but also bc if someone needs it they will come up with those & related strategies organically.

#anyway it turns out my method is great for brute-force memorizing strings of letters and apparently inadvertently masking subclinical #dyslexia but like. some of that was on the school bc by being 'ahead' i ended up straight up not being put in reading groups / not having m #reading examined more closely for years lol. i would learn related words by recognizing strings of letters and comparing definitions for #connections. ended up learning root words instead of what long and short vowels are. i also do understand why people were wary of #how phonics would impact accent and the classism etc intertwined there i find that understandable. not so much the idol worship and like #commercialized scams side of the equation tho. and i recognize my method only worked by virtue of having the resources and the adults #having the time. learning that reading could provide actually engaging stories was the biggest roadblock bc before then i hadnt bothered #and after that i went from picture books to jurassic park within a few years of spending hours a day working with the dictionary.#never underestimate what need for any escape from the already clawing boredom can do to a person

hhhhhh so the party drama is basically: only ppl who remembered their ids could get served (or like. actually had em in the first place. i don't have one) but loads of ppl went for pre-drinks anyway so it was pretty much "act as sober as possible so the hired bouncers actually let you in". so like fast forward 2 hours into the night, some mutual-friend-ish people start completely going off on one of my close friends (about something they willfully made a bad faith jnterpretation of what she said), i had to chase her down the street bc she ran away crying and i caught up, we had to spend a decent amount of time calming her down, went on a big long walk around the town bc i used to live there so i knew where to go. came back and it was mainly fine bc there was only like an hour left before it closed. arrived back for a really fucking good song. anyway a friend of friend also went through major drama with her friends, my friends boyfriend got two hip flasks confiscated which was whole thing (got them back at the end of the night). at the end of the night when everyone was standing around waiting to get picked up it was basically a bunch of people like "who has a lighter!!!!" and a circle of them attempting to light cigarettes. spoke to ppl i never normally speak to, guy I've known since i was six found out i vaped/drank and seemed to be going through it (everyone is always so shocked?) and i took a couple drags of my friends cigarette to really complete the image. two of my friends tried smoking for the first time. there was apparently someone who had had a crush on some girl for ages and he finally made his move at the end of the night so everyone was not subtly watching to see what happened. apparently there's a whole "breakdown of all the shit that happened" scheduled for monday. oh, and apparently the guy who was surprised i was doing typical party shit told my friend + her boyfriend he had a ccrush on me (my friend instantly ran over to tell me under the guise of wanting a vape/giving me vodka so rip to him. i don't think he knows i know). honestly he has like. not much of a chance considering im a) an emotional brick wall b) he seems to be nicer when he's tipsy than when he's sober c) im aromantic and i haven't decided if id want a relationship at all or not and d) last night was the first major conversation we'd had in a good few years and he doesn't speak to me normally. so im kinda gonna have to root for him on this since his chances are so low. it's kinda funny (i said to my friend that her bf could give him my snap if he really wanted bc it would be funny to see how this plays out). also someone got kicked out pretty much instantly and some people had definitely taken stronger shit than alcohol, either that or they were just incredibly incredibly wasted. also props to the bar staff + bouncers for putting up with a room full of teens yelling the wap, baseline junkie, before he cheats, and low at the top of their lungs. and i have no idea how some people didn't freeze in their outfits. and someone was wearing a giant inflatable penis costume. so yeah monday is gonna be interesting

I'm an adult now take my advice

(or don't i'm not your dad)

Idk how old my followers are overall but i want to make this post in case any of you are actually teens... I am Officially 20 now. I am no longer a teenager so here are some things I learned as a poor teenager that helped me as a poor adult. Some are witchy, some are just about life, most are food related. Buckle up this will get pretty long.

Write as much down as you can bc puberty can really fuck with your memory.

Staying up late because you simply can't sleep is not something to be worried about unless you want to change that. It's pretty much all your natural body clock.

Get a big folder. Like a massive accordion folder and put all your personal documents in, birth/adoption certificates, bank statements, prescription receipts, diplomas, etc. So if you're ever in a dangerous situation at home you can make your escape a lot easier.

Now is a good time to learn new things that aren't school related. Practice cooking your favourite meals, learn how to properly clean a bathroom, if cleaning is overwhelming there are methods online that can help with that. Like playing a spot the difference game.

NO, tarot is not a closed practice, tarot is a tool for everyone and NO, tarot decks do not have to be gifted to you, you can buy one for yourself. I don't even know where that came from but it's complete bs.

Save the little gift baggies you get when you buy jewellery and use them as spell bags.

Stay away from any woman who calls her vag a yoni. it's weird.

You may want to be seen as smart and mature because it's better than being treated like a kid but you are still a kid. Your safety matters more than how mature and responsible you are. An older person should NOT be talking to you in a romantic/flirtatious setting and if they say it's because you're mature for your age or they can't wait until you're legal fucking bully the living shit out of them then block them and warn your friends. that attitude is creepy as hell bc they want someone they have power over. Same with any friends that brag about their partner being 15/16/17 when they're 18. BULLY THEM THEY'RE GROSS AND THEY DESERVE IT.

If you're in a country with the NHS USE IT NOW WHILE IT'S FREE. The first 6-8 weeks of therapy is free from the NHS. Eye tests and dentist check ups and medication are free untill you're 19 GET THEM NOW.

You can make your own oat milk by blending up oats and water. You don't need to cook with oil, there's enough of it in processed food and fresh veg have enough water in them to cook straight in a pan. You don't need the seasoning packet in ramen you can make your own. Tamari sauce has less sodium than soy sauce. Food always tastes better when it's in season. Try to find space for two food wastes, one for processed/cooked food one for raw. The raw food can be composted and given back to the earth

Best healthiest dinner option I can think of is steamed veggies. Here's my recipe: Heat up a pan on high, pour a bit of water in and then your veggies, stir frequently until all the water is gone. Turn heat down to low. Coat with something like balsamic vinegar and add any seasoning you like. Cover and steam for 10 minutes ish and you're good. You can serve that with a grain or some noodles.

Locally sourced meat and fish is WAY better for the environment than supermarket because there's less preservatives and they're more resourceful with their products.

A standard pie dough is one of the easiest things you can make and the trick is in the amount. Half the flour equals the fat, half the fat equals the sugar. so if you have 200g of flour you need 100g of fat and 50g of sugar. Just throw them in a bowl and mix together and add some cold water to bind together into a dough. It should be solid and little sticky, if it's crumbling add more water, if it's not holding it's shape add more flour. then just fridge it for a few hours to set and you're good.

You made your own soup/stew/pot thingy and you got left overs for the next day? Put it back on the cooker and bring to the boil on high, once it's bubbling take the heat down to low and simmer for 10 minutes (keep stirring if it keeps bubbling). This will help kill any bacteria that developed overnight that might make you sick.

Foraging is good but wear gloves, don't take all from one place and don't eat anything you pick until it's been thoroughly washed. Don't be afraid to go hog wild on things like blackberries, dandelions, or nettles. those things are an invasive species.

Deer are bigger than you think they are.

Air drying takes longer but it will help your clothes last. You can also hand wash with a bowl of hot water and about a teaspoon of washing up powder. Air drying also goes for your hair too.

Stock up on your favourite scented candles any size is ok and use them for spells and rituals.

You got a ghost in your house? Leave them be they're usually just passing through.

If you can't focus on work without music but it needs to be specifically wordless and needs to be easy to fill your brain so you don't focus on every noise other people make listen to animal crossing music that shit got me through two years worth of academic reading.

Bus is late or can't find your keys? Stop looking and start complaining. They'll turn up as soon as you give up.

Piercings are a medical procedure and are safer when they're done with a needle because they're hollow, so they're carving out the skin and cartilage instead of just pushing jewellery through like a gun does. Go to a tattoo parlour that also does piercings bc they're likely to be a lot stricter with rules and customer care.

Life is gonna kick us all in the but so we gotta be there to help eachother out however we can. It definitely feels like it's everyone for themselves but it doesn't have to be.

my personal characterization of eren bc i’ve been thinking about him a lot🥰 this is all modern!au bc canon literally never happened.

these aren’t x reader headcanons but i have more than enough thoughts about eren in a relationship to provide those soon!

General

Loud, brash, and loyal to a fault - you either love him or hate him (or if you’re Jean, you both love and hate him)

Those that he allows into his inner circle are friends for life. He’s easy to piss off but he’s quick to forgive when it comes to friends and family. If that doesn’t apply to you, or you cross those closest to him, he’ll hold a grudge long after the issue is resolved. You’re on his shit list for life.

He wears his heart on his sleeve. It’s literally impossible for him to conceal his emotions. If he’s angry, sad, annoyed, happy, literally anything his feeling you will be sure to know.

The same goes for his opinions. Blunt beyond belief. If he thinks something is stupid he won’t hesitate to say so. He’ll backtrack to soften his delivery if he notices that it offends other parties though.

All of these factors can lead to awkward moments. 99% of the time he’s confident enough in his stance to ignore how others might receive him but the other 1% of the time you might catch the rare sight of his cheeks heating up.

Contrary to popular belief, Eren is actually smart. Not to the same caliber of Armin, Erwin or Hange when it comes to critical thinking and analysis, but it is still above average. That being said, he doesn’t necessarily apply himself to subjects that don’t immediately interest him. However, he has impeccable game sense, making him quite the accomplished athlete.

Anger issues. Clearly. It made him a difficult child... for most of his life (and probably the reason he’s an only child) but as he’s gotten older he’s learned to manage his temper. It’s still easy to rile him up though, and it’ll be a cold day in hell before he backs down from a challenge. But for the most part his attitude is a running joke between those he’s closest with.

He has a strong moral compass and sense of justice. Not in the sense that he’s conservative, far from it. His personal ideology is: as long as it’s not hurting anyone people should do what they want. and anyone that messes with that is wrong. He’s a simple guy

Bad at flirting. He can be super oblivious and when he does catch on, he’s not smooth at all. But he’s tall and pretty so it comes off as endearing 99% of the time. It’s his boy-ish charms that save him every time.

Childhood

Cute as a button as a baby. Poor Carla and Grisha were blindsided when he hit his terrible twos.

Had no friends besides Armin until middle school when his parents adopted Mikasa.

Before Mikasa, he and Armin were the black sheep of the neighborhood kids. Eren easily alienated himself from the neighborhood kids and his schoolmates due to his brash nature. Looking back on it, he still stands with his decision since it meant he found his first friend.

(Armin didn’t fit in for his old soul thanks to being raised by his grandparents)

Super curious and didn’t realize how small he was in such a big world. On several occasions he wandered off because of his curious nature. Would have been a leash kid if leash kids were a thing when he was growing up.

Could technically be considered a school bully for talking down to kids on the playground. HOWEVER, he was smaller than other kids for a while, meaning his haughty attitude resulted in petty school yard fights that he lost most of the time. Still, he never cried and never learned his lesson.

Since we was never against a fight, he made it his mission to take up for Armin. When Mikasa joined his family he did the same for her when their peers made comments about her different looks. As we know, those roles soon reversed with Mikasa taking on a protector roll

To try and find a suitable outlet for his excess...energy...Carla and Grisha signed him up for every sport under the sun. Was pretty good too but excelled at football and track and field.

Teen

Was on a first name basis with administration during his school years for getting too invested in classroom debates. His fired up nature easily boiled over outside the classroom resulting in several fist fights

Got suspended once for said fights, but more often than not Mikasa saved him before he could get into more trouble.

So angsty. Literally a textbook case of teen angst from the loud music, dark clothes, to butting his heads with his parents he was truly a nightmare. (He recognizes this and is forever apologetic to his parents for being so difficult during this time)

Started to grow out of his rebellious phase by his junior year. There was no real explanation for it he just...did. That’s not to say that he was any less combative, he just knew what battles to pick. Good job Eren.

By the time he graduates he’s such a mama’s boy. He’s always loved him mom but now his eyes have been opened to how much of a handful he was growing up. He’s embarrassed anytime she brings up old stories but he knows it’s all in good fun.

He’s also had a major growth spurt by the time he graduates and his years of playing sports have definitely paid off. He’s a total heartthrob by his senior year and unintentionally a heartbreaker. Again, it’s hard to break into his circle, nothing personal.

Young Adult (College/Post Grad)

Commits to playing football exclusively. Not out of hopes of going pro but he just really likes the sport. He’s well known around campus between sports and his personality.

Still, he can be found with any one member of his crew at any given time. It’s rare to find him by himself unless he’s in his dorm room. He’s a total extrovert and gets bored easily when left to his own devices.

BUT he’s not a total party animal. Definitely prefers kickbacks to partying. But he will show his face if someone personally asks him to come.

Smokes and drinks the normal amount. Knows his limits and isn’t a lightweight for either. But under the right conditions (i.e. drinking games, bets, etc.) he’ll over indulge. Far too touchy when he’s under the influence.

Struggled to find his “calling” in school. Most of his friends fell into majors that they clicked with but it wasn’t that easy for him. He probably ends up with a fifth year under his belt. since he didn’t officially declare a major until maybe junior year.

Graduates with a political science degree! 1) He fooled his parents into thinking he’d go to law school which satisfied his doctor dad. 2) While he doesn’t exactly know how, he wants to improve daily life for the less fortunate and he thought this was a good step to do that. 3) He loved being able to argue for a grade during in-class debates

I know we all love streamer!Eren but I really do think he’d end up going down a creative/independent route where he’s not tied to a desk 9-to-5. It really stressed him out to think about doing thing for 50 years and then being able to enjoy life after retirement.

Other

Like previously mentioned, his music tastes were pretty narrow. But as his social circle grew and he was exposed to new genres his musical pallet has expanded. His go to genres are still heavy, but he’s not against asking what song just played if he liked it (unless you’re Jean, he’ll never give him the satisfaction).

I feel like his celebrity crush is Doja Cat. I have no evidence I just feel like he’d be into her.

Baby can NOT dance. if he tries hard he can bust a two step but usually he doesn’t usually put forth the effort though. It just gets worse if he drinks.

Very much a night owl but surprisingly, he doesn’t like to sleep in either. Feels like there’s too much stuff to do in a day to just waste it in bed. He contradicts himself though bc he can spend all morning in bed playing around on his phone (he’s addicted)

Oh boy I have not updated this side blog in a long-ass time, but for this playlist more than the others, I wanted to talk through the songs chosen for this one because they’re a lot more curated than my other playlists and are very entwined with specific headcanons I had so rip this headcanon dump.

(also I did not think in the year of our lord 2021 and 10 years of being on this hell site id finally cave and actually publish the anime shit i write instead of leaving them to die in my folders)

I made this playlist with the headcanon that Nanami grew up as a cassette teen and migrated over to vinyls as a salaryman and invested in a technics direct drive turntable to match his technics amplifier this shit is expensive holy fuck as a way to unwind while reading, drinking, and cooking.

Quite a few of the songs here are songs I own/have listened to on vinyl and lemme tell you the vibes are PRISTINE and 100% songs he’d play while cooking for u on a chill, domestic dinner-date.

also since being bullied into watching jjk i cant listen to streets without thinking about nanami like the man has ideal husband printed all over his novelty patterned tie

2006 Nanami is also the most emo-looking piece of shit I have ever beheld and having been alive in 2006 it triggered my flight or fight instincts. Granted I was in primary school but my cousins were all that age and as soon as I saw that.... boi..... I could smell hair being fried by a ghd straightener so they could sit in those bangs. Either way he definitely vibed the he was a punk (aesthetically) part of sk8er boi and so some rock bands made their way into the list.

The rock songs (loosely rock? idk spotify always tells me they are) for this playlist were definitely more ballad and romantic to match the rest of the playlist both in melody and lyrics

I highly recommend looking up the English translation for the lyrics to Coraline which I think goes well with his sense of morality and his character

The first and last songs are the theme songs Gege chose out for him and were listed in a volume of the manga. I hadn’t listened to either of them until I put together this playlist (and honestly felt validated for the vibes i chose out).

Saboten Record, Us and Them, Sign of the Times, and Time in a Bottle (and a couple of others via some lyrics) are there bc of time being a recurring theme with Nanami BUT ALSO I LIVE IN DENIAL OF THE SH*BUYA ARC IT NEVER HAPPENED EVERYONES FINE

I also have a nanami x reader fic coming up!!!! it’s multichapter bc i hate myself and want to commit to the full plot potential!!! V domestic and in denial about said sh*buya arc and honestly veering into crack fic territory but honestly I think it’s time I returned to my roots by writing a crack fic masquerading as something serious. There will be cooking and Gojo derailment of any and all plot.

Look at me, not being on time for my April Immersion Overview as is the usual. (・w・;

First, little blog updates to get out of the way:

I reached 100 followers! Got an influx of people checking out my 1 year update post, and got plenty of nice compliments on my data collection.

For those of you wondering just why I keep up with so much data, it's mostly because it can get really hard to notice how much you're improving in a language especially with something like immersion learning that for people who don't get it feels like a waste of time or a time sink.

Graphs showing consistency, improvement in reading speed, increasing vocabulary counts, and generally just seeing numbers grow turns language learning more fun and motivating for me, and if as a bonus, it encourages someone to try immersion learning then that would be cool!

With that said, whether you're here as a fellow language learner, graphs enthusiast (笑), or just want some Japanese media recommendations, ようこそ!

Also, made a tiny DP change - it’s チト from 少女週末旅行. Pretty sure it’s the first manga series I ever finished in Japanese (not the first one I started since ちはやふる is still ongoing), and I always felt a bit of a ☆connection☆ with her - between her book-loving personality and being a no-nonsense kind of person, there was no way for me not to enjoy her character. Great beginner anime/manga if you’re not into most beginner recommendations.

April has been a pretty good immersion month, as I was able to dip my toes in a variety of media. A bit competitive, too! The club I joined has been pulling all the stops to get to the Top 20 Immersion Leaderboard in it’s first month. I was able to snag the 9th spot among a bunch of people of different comprehension levels (the majority being N1+ since they’re able to comprehend much more and in turn stand longer immersion hours). Lots of tiny complaints though of potential “whitenoising” content (”listening” and “reading” but not comprehending very well just to get a large number to post), but really what can you do? People lie all the time on the internet. Besides, it’s internet points that doesn’t do anything beyond being a little shiny I guess.

Enough about that, let’s get into the nitty-gritty details you came here for!

ANIME

フルーツバスケット

Might need to rewatch this one. Felt like I didn’t connect with the characters the way the rest of its fandom has. I’m kinda sad about it, since I normally love Slice of Life and Fantasy, and I know this is one of my friend’s diehard shows.

ラブライブ! School Idol Project S2

A filler anime to watch tbh. Nice and easy enough to follow for beginners. Pretty good songs. With regards to it being a show about music and moe, I still 100% prefer K-On! if I’m going to be honest, but for a show about non-toxic idols, it’s good!

魔法少女まどか☆マギカ

First read this as English translated manga when I was 13 or something. Mistakes were made. Let’s all just agree to throw キュウベえ into a pit of fire and never talk about it again. Great ending and a show that really reworked the magical girl genre. But seriously, I was traumatized by マミ’s death then and now, help.

四月は君の嘘

Already knew what was going to happen even before watching this so I didn’t ugly cry like I was expecting. Still got that awful sinking feeling though. 10/10 would recommend for a good cry. Also, I’m planning to read the manga, might enjoy that more, because I’ve always liked it more than anime actually. *shocked pikachu face*

ホリミヤ

Watched before I even finished the manga which felt like a mistake at first until I realized that it perfectly stops where I stopped reading. Nice and comfy anime, the kind I would have loved as a teen. Fun animation too, making parts very dramatic even though it wasn’t really that deep of an issue even in the manga. Just teens feeling feelings. Still salty that we lose bad boy styled 宮村, but I get why it had to happen.

AUDIOBOOKS

氷菓

Second re-listen. I understand it fine, but it’s very easy to drift off when you can’t catch all the words so I had to replay often. Will have to mine more from the anime/book.

君の名は

I mined from the anime, and was really pleased to be able to follow all 6 hours of this audiobook perfectly fine. Will need to read the book, because I realized just how seamless reading it would be after listening to it with hardly any issue.

Still trudging on with this one. It’s not a bad story, it’s pretty well written actually, I just made the mistake of watching both the anime and live adaptation first, so I know exactly what’s going to happen and it’s killing my motivation to keep reading. I guess reading the book first before watching the movie still applies in any language with me. Really need to 頑張れ and finish so I can move on.

三日間の幸福

Started reading towards the end of the month, mostly because I realized that every chapter is only 5000-15000 characters long, and I was able to read up to 40k in a day with Island most days. Only two chapters read so far though because I got distracted by manga, but it’s shaping up to be a really good plot and potentially a really sad one, too, so I’m interested.

DRAMA

花ざかりの君たちへイケメンパラダイス

Heard this was a classic so I gave it a try. Loved 生田斗真’s character in this one the most especially all his internal dialogue acted out. Also, 小栗旬 in anything is bound to be a good watch. Simple and fun watch. They dragged the ending so much though lmao

ごくせん

Look, I see 松本潤, I click. Definitely the kind of show you should watch for some great life advice. Planning to watch the 2nd and 3rd seasons even if there is a terrible lack of 松本潤, because I love my strong female protagonists, and man, ヤンクミ is such a great character. Need to read the manga, too, if I can find it.

極主夫道

Oof, this was kind of hard. The yakuza talk was throwing me off, but the rest of it was enjoyable. Not really plot heavy as I thought it was going to be. The comedy side of it was fun and predictable after the first few episodes. Overall, pretty good slice of life, family story with a twist.

MANGA

Read a bunch of manga this month, mostly because I am struggling to find the next vn to read.

おやすみプンプン

Read a couple of volumes (6-7). This manga is so good, but it’s so depressing I need to stop to take a breather every once in a while. Please don’t leave any spoilers. The club has been reacting to me reading this, and it has mostly been a lot of crying emotes. It’s both been enjoyable to see and really worrying. 笑

チェンソーマン

Club recommendation. Only read the 1st volume so far. I really need to get into more 少年 anime/manga. That’s currently my 苦手 genre which is awful because literally all the top anime/manga is 少年 help. I just can’t enjoy it much still even though it’s comprehensible to me.

ちはやふる中学生編

Read Vol. 1, chill read to me at this point after reading 45 volumes of the regular manga. Look, it’s my favorite 幼馴染 manga in baby format, of course I’m going to read this! 太一 has been a flake way before season 3 confirmed. Don’t come at me たいちはや stans bc I also like his character.

約束のネバーランド

Volume 7. I’m taking my sweet time with this one, because I heard the anime for season 2 sucked, so I’m avoiding it like the plague. This is 少年 how am I enjoying this and not everything else what.

ヲタクに恋は難しい

Enjoyed the anime hated the movie why did they make it a musical that sucked (ps i normally love musicals hated this one)

The オタク jargon is kinda hard to read suprisingly but I do enjoy this ship very much. It’s a lighthearted take to otaku culture which is great because seriously it’s scary out there.

ツバサ -RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE-

It’s my childhood ship, obviously I will read this again (read in English several years ago). Still as plot twisty as I remember it being (now at a bonus hard level reading it in Japanese 笑). Really enjoyed reading this one (I finished it this May).

I’m starting to really dislike furigana in manga. It was a great help as a beginner, but now it’s like training wheels that you can’t take off. I feel like the gains I’m getting from manga is much lower than it was when I first started which makes me both proud of how far I’ve come, but also sad because I love manga. Sad that I might have to start choose VNs over it, because it’s not going to challenge me as much going forward. I mean it didn’t stop me from reading a lot of it this month, but you get the picture.

ファタモルガーナの館

Picked up this VN and finished two doors (15 hours) before stopping. On the fence about it, because it has been kind of predictable so far, and I don’t particularly enjoy the horror genre. That said, this is more psychological than anything, so it’s probably not that that’s putting me off. The language is not exactly difficult, too - maybe some oddly specific words because it is after all historical fiction (which is one of my favorite genres, btw), and 敬語 is definitely interesting to read for once after encountering so many お嬢様 characters in anime/drama so far.

I think maybe it’s the conversations that are kind of dull - dots (silence) every few clicks that keeps breaking the flow of reading. Probably judging it really harshly too early, because it’s rated so high everywhere, and I just have high expectations. Definitely not dropping it yet though, just taking a break and testing a couple of other VNs before I settle with whatever I end up choosing. It is, after all, going to be another 50+ hour read, and I just don’t want to not enjoy the process, because having fun with the process is a huge part of immersion learning.

Aaa I can give you some right now!!!! For some reason this au comes to me whenever im working so thats why its art is all on stickynotes audjskjsj

BUT ANYWAYS uh. No better way to say this but it all started out with a modded skyrim character creator that i made skull in! I thought it was cool and going thru both main q and whatever stupid civil war to skip the broken seasons unending quest is annoyin but fun was had for maybe some hours

But! I had to make skull twice due to the first skull files getting corrupted. So that has a piece to it

But anyways context over and now this au has been in my brain with only vague skrim assets because i fucking hate that that civil war has anything to do with anything of the main questline it can FUCK. Right off

Basic storyline premise my brain had! We start out with a currently human vintage caught between a mysteriously similar civil war :) he's chosen neither side but since his home was destroyed by the stupid shit idiot war he's basically gotten really good at pissing off both sides. Sometimes he gets caught! And the good-ish soldiers will see that he is you know a still kinda baby-side teen full of anger and try to lrt him go with a talking to. But his worst encounter would be when the angy soldiers catch him and beat him up, which just deepens his hatred. And one time someone really messed him up bad!

He ends up limping away into an enchanted forest and drawn by a really good smell, he passes out just in front of this really beautiful lilac tree that was in a clearing like "ok this is a nice tree to die by. Peaceful" but ofc he didnt die. He just woke up to a nymph of the tree he chose taking him up to the center of the tree. And that's how he befriends Skull, he's recovering with him and keeps mumbling about how nice the smell is while skull both cares for him and looks around for his potion savvy friend. Once vin is healed up by aviators he realizes pretty quick that this forest is very much between the war path and figures it's highly appropriate to set traps all over!!! But ofc giving avi and skull very specific instructions on how to avoid the things he sets. He also makes good pals with omega in the town nearby bc she helps at an institude and she's been sneaking him into their library to read up on nymphs and share his own notes in return. Shes like you're my little brother and hes like fuck u (but also thank you sorry) and he gets to discover he has a high affinity for magic despite being human. Weird! Anyways now that he has a place of study he can figure out how to teach skull weapons.

But all is not peaceful for long, bc some old shitty wizard trails this knowledgeable little jerkwad, because variant nymphs are rare! And as the guy comes out of the bushes and pisses vintage off by treating skull like a specimen and taking out a pair of scissors like, "i wonder if its really true that you can take memories of one by severing branches from its tree:)" Vintage basically attacks the guy! Because no taking Skull's memories! And skull helps of course bc friend, but unfortunately this guy is very strong and seasoned. So when vintage almost gets a good life ending hit, the wizard wounds him heavily (resulting in an x-shaped scar deep on his face that got him bad in one eye) and opens a portal to basically hell! Vin is gonna fall in but skull makes the effort to try and use the roots of his tree to pull him out. But knowing he can get sucked in too, vintage just makes a promise to get out somehow and come back, sealing it by giving the gift of a small ring he was saving. Unknown to him once he falls and portal closes, skull definitely makes the wizard into plant food! But on the floor of this hellscape, vintage finds himself with some flowers and seeds that had fallen from the tree, a tail, and a new nubby pair of horms and wings. But despite this, he gets up, gathers the seeds, and thinking back on his affinity for magic, he decides he will grow the lilacs while he figures out an escape, all the while being reminded of skull every time he looks at the stuff. It takes some years, and some demons also looking for an escape love his tree and his story (mainly double who helped persuade spirits into protecting the tree and gave vin tips on horn and wing upkeep) but eventually vin has his break when he hears omega call and together they pry open a portal out of there. He's pulled along by a red sole (very excited feral magician) and now he and double are finally out. Double introduces himself while vintage, with magical hell-lilacs tied around tail, disguises his demon features and runs off to find skull.

Only to find the entire forest burned down. He's in shock for some time, wanting to know how and why. One of the last things he saw was a killing blow from skull, it couldn't have been that wizard- but then he spots a soldier's settlement nearby. Hidden amongst charred trees. They chatted merrily, loading up gathered game, and when he asked, they told him the forest was another victim of their pointless war. It wasn't even a turning point, and one of them even laughed and said they'd get "the bad guys" next time.

When the sick of this, much older teen, gets angry enough that his horn-hiding illusion falls, they all quite suddenly realize they've majorly screwed up. And vintage figures out that he has a taste for souls. Red finds him again after though with a gift, a calm pet and a gentle informing that he should be able to visit his hell lilac tree anytime he wants at least. A nice gift, but vintage is too angry at the moment to appreciate it and decides that hes ending the war himself by killing every single person directly involved with it! At times the armies had tried to work together to stop him, but with the power to morph melificent style into a dragon is a pretty solid way to make sure you're just wasting lives, and people figure out pretty quick it's the commanders he wants. Those are sacrificed, but now you just have a very powerful demon with nowhere to place his still burning grief that's very very hard to approach! But word gets around as it does and a blue group of adventurers take up the task of calming the demon and dealing with his haywire magic and deliver a hard truth - that he might have to move on with the friends he made along the way. Post fight, the vampire cruising with blue team scoops vin with some tlc plans and asks that blue team to locate the friends vintage had, and maybe even look into his older friends. One can't even begin to describe how relieved Vintage is by this info that his first friend, at the very least, is still alive. It may just take time to get to him with post-magic owchies and all, so emperor decides to send out a nice and classy letter to those friends he had found, inviting them over.

maybe you should talk to someone: never read but the concept of therapist squared literature sounds fun. i don’t read much non-fiction beyond like societal/political commentary or theory, which i maybe should do.

pjo: ah, middle school memories. i never read past the percy jackson series proper and i haven’t revisited in years, but i think they’re great books for kids and younger teens. i appreciated that the author listened to his audience and at least attempted to have a diverse range of characters, as well, though some storylines were kind of badly handled. but the tongue and cheek mythology rewrite coupled with the colorful cast of characters and fairly neat plots definitely gave me a soft spot for the series, and i think some of those story beats (luke, thalia, bianca dying, the amnesia plot, etc) definitely have staying power. i was a nico di angelo person through and through, because of course i was. thalia was my second favorite, because of course she was.

narnia: full disclosure, i havent read narnia through- i’ve definitely read from magician’s nephew up to the caspian era, but i don’t know where exactly i stopped. it’s got a very specific mood that i rarely find in other books- that sort of eerie grandeur, behind the quaint english children and their fantastical adventures. i very much enjoy all the creepy weirdness of narnia, though- magician’s nephew’s ancient evil awakening scene still goes hard as hell. and the movie series, or at least the first one, is immaculate. edmund is my boy. also lowkey peter/caspian… interesting. cs lewis’ very evident moral and religious analogies definitely work to set a tone for the worldbuilding, but i will say it gets very jarring at points- especially with the much reviled ending, which i loathe. if he was going to do that with the end of the series he could have at least prescribed susan greater sins than living a normal life in the years after her bizarro other existence came to an end, especially considering that peter and susan were fairly explicitly told they would never be able to go back anyways! what was she meant to do? waste away for what could have been?

on a side note re narnia i am obsessed w the concept of the pensieve kids carrying over their narnia lives into their home life. like, peter getting into fights at boarding school like he does at the start of book 3, or edmund’s guilt complex, or any and all very weird bad behaviour that these kids carry over into their child bodies from an entire life led as an adult ruler of a whole fucking kingdom.. that slaps i want a book of that.

dorian grey: look oscar wilde falls in the [insert half of the famous male authors out there] category of fucking boys so he sucks but the man unfortunately writes bangers 24/7. like importance of being earnest is such a funny play to see irl and dorian grey is so!!! like. imagine releasing that then. wild. it’s so seedy and cruel and funny. dorian is a total bitch. lord henry makes me actively angry bc i Cannot Stand his type of person. also the ben barnes movie was not very good but all is forgiven bc. hot. whether it’s a technically good novel is kind of besides the point.

No one asked this and no one cares, but here’s my personal opinions about every glee ship:

Finchel: they had their cute moments, but in general I really dislike them as couple. They brought the worst out of each other when they were together, Finn made Rachel insecure and was also incredibly possessive of her (not in a cute way) and Rachel pressured Finn too much. She wanted to control him and often tried change him, they’re too different and not compatible. I think Rachel needs someone more simalar to her or someone who can understand her, because Finn really didn’t get Rachel.

Klaine: I’m neutral about klaine, I don’t hate them, but simply I’m not invested into this ship. They aren’t toxic, but I think their relationship has many issues and is a little unhealthy sometimes.They had a good start, but as the show went on they got worse. I love Blaine, he’s my gay son, but he was too jealous and controlling about Kurt. Kudos for the gay representation, i acknowledge their huge impact on the lgbt community

Brittana: wow what can I say about them ? They’re everything, best friends to lovers excellence. Brittana had a rough start, but their dynamic became a beautiful and mature relationship in which they always supported and loved each other. Even when they dated other people, Santana and Brittany respected each other. It had and still has a huge importance for the sapphic community, it is good representation and one of the first big teen wlw couples. Brittana are the definition of soulmates

Quick: absolute trash, Puck got Quinn drunk on wine coolers and then had sex with her while she was still drunk. There was nothing consensual about that. The fact that rib never acknowledged this is disgusting. They had very little interactions, their relationship was not developed. Puck and Quinn have literally nothing in common, they’re not compatible in any way and them getting together at the end always irked me because in s3 Quinn said she didn’t care about all the boys she dated in the past. If you ship them idc it’s fine, but I hate this pairing. It’s a huge no from me, I think Puck liked Quinn only because she was hot.

Faberry: THEY’RE MY RIDE OR DIE YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND HOW IMPORTANT THEY ARE TO ME. Enemies to lovers excellence, I know faberry was queerbaiting, but I still ship them after all these years. They have chemistry, lots of yearning and sexual tension, impossibly high angst level. This is the only pairing in which I will accept the trope “homophobic jock falls in love with the person they bully”. At first they were terrible to each other, but they managed to built a nice relationship and I seriously think Rachel was the only one for Quinn because she was the only person who always showed Quinn love and support even when they were enemies. I also think that Rachel felt something more than platonic for Quinn at some point (always ranting about how beautiful Quinn is ? That’s gay)

St berry: I like them, I know they had little screen time and they weren’t even supposed to be a thing according to rib (bc they planned on making finchel endgame), but I think they’re compatible, Jesse is probably the only person who could keep up with Rachel. They have many things in common and even though he was shitty to her at first, he redeemed himself. Rachel and Jesse have good romantic chemistry and excellent musical chemistry, their duets are amazing. I’m happy they got together in the end.

Pezberry: oh boy they’re so hot together, lots of sexual chemistry, they could have been enemies to friends to lovers excellence or at least friends with benefits, but ryan murphy is a coward. I enjoy their scenes, they’re hilarious together and always make me laugh. I think they’re a pretty explosive duo, pezberry has great musical chemistry, all their duets are iconic and there’s a lot of sexual tension between them, they’re definitely compatible in bed but idk if they would last in a long term relationship.

Quinntana: this pairing was very random in my opinion because Quinn and Santana lowkey hated each other and always wanted to destroy each other, BUT they are very hot together, they’re probably the most gorgeous couple on glee because both dianna and naya are insanely attractive. Quinntana gave me my sapphic!quinn rights and I’ll be forever thankful about that, they’re compatible in bed, but I like them only as friends with benefits. I don’t see any romantic chemistry between them, mostly because they were always competing about who was the hbic of the school. I don’t think they would last as a stable couple. I wanted to see more of quinntana though.

Fabrevans: if Quinn had to end up with a man, the only heterosexual Quinn ship I tolerate is fabrevans because Sam was really kind, sweet and good to her. Sadly she wasn’t very interested in him, he was just the hot new guy soon to become quarterback and I think she dated him for popularity. I don’t think they would have lasted in a long term relationship, they were cute together romantically speaking but I don’t ship them.

Samcedes: should have been endgame, definition of wasted potential

Tike: should have been endgame, even though I don’t care about Mike and Tina they were really good together, the love was genuine. Tike is one of the few heterosexual couple I don’t mind

Artittany: is a huge no from me, they had zero chemistry and he treated her like trash, artie deserved to be cheated on lol (I’m joking no one deserves that but I really don’t like artie because he’s sexist, misogynistic and he also treated all his gfs like crap)

Seblaine: I honestly don’t see it, Sebastian was definitely interested in Blaine, but Blaine always only had eyes for Kurt. Still I think they should have dated in s6, it would have been fun to see Kurt jealous about his nemesis dating his ex bf. I like the idea of Seblaine having a one night stand, but I don’t ship them as a couple. I also don’t like Sebastian very much, sorry.

Fuinn: A HUGE NO, they were aesthetically pleasing together, but that’s it. They didn’t have sexual tension, they just had tension. Fuinn is a little dysfunctional in my opinion, they get together, they break up and then start dating again just like finchel. I honestly don’t think they were in love, but they cared about each other in a platonic way. Finn wasn’t a good boyfriend to Quinn and Quinn constantly manipulated him. I don’t like them as a couple, they’re too messy.

Blam: best friends to lovers excellence, lots of wasted potential. I’m not saying they should have been endgame, but Sam and Blaine should have dated. I like the idea of Sam discovering he’s bi or pan and exploring his sexuality with someone who cares about him. They have chemistry and I like their dynamic. I also fancy their duets and I think they could have fallen in love with each other.

Hevans: ok if I squint I can see it, they had potential, Kurt was definitely attracted to Sam and Sam was kind of curious about him, I’m sure he admires Kurt and cares about him, but I don’t ship them together

Sebtana, Finntana, Pucktana: ABSOLUTE TRASH DON’T SHIP CANON LESBIAN CHARACTERS WITH MEN, IT’S INCREDIBLY HARMFUL AND INVALIDATING. There are so many heterosexual ships, why do you have to take away from the gays the few lgbt characters we have ?

Quinncedes: i don’t ship them romantically, but I ship them as best friends. I wished their friendship was more developed, Quinn and Mercedes were so good to each other.

Quinntina: have they even interacted with each other ? (Lmao I’m joking again don’t get pressed, you can ship what you what). I don’t ship it, they’re cute and I lowkey like Tina, but it’s not my cup of tea. Still it’s a wlw ship, so I don’t have anything against it.

Wemma: no

Artie x Tina: I don’t even know their ship name, imagine how much irrelevant they are to me. Again I don’t like how artie treats women, I don’t ship them and Tina deserves better than him.

Samchel: underrated af, i’m not saying they should have been endgame because they wouldn’t have lasted in a long term relationship, BUT they were cute together. Sam was really good for Rachel, he made her more humble and helped her to heal after Finn died. They deserved more development and had a lot of potential. I don’t remember what happened in s6, but I liked samchel dating, I don’t mind them as a romantic couple, even though they’re not very compatible.

Brochel: it was not as bad as rib tried to make us believe. I don’t ship them but they have sexual/romantic chemistry and also musical chemistry. I’m neutral about Brody and Rachel, he was hot, but he was also incredibly boring and one dimensional

Julyberry: the sexual tension between them is so high, i loved it when they did all that jazz, I think they should have been fuck buddies or had a one night stand. Lots of sexual and musical chemistry, i lowkey ship them bc milf!kate hudson rights. Maybe after Rachel graduates at nyda, they could date

here to drop a huge thank you for the Shadow & Bone rant. it was always one of those series I just never got around to reading, but I ordered the first book once the Netflix trailer dropped bc I wanted to know what I might be getting myself into. I would've adored it if I'd read it as a teen but ultimately it was.... very Eh. I probably would've put the show on if I hadn't just read your response to that earlier anon. and judging by your analysis of it, any second spent watching it would have been a wasted second. I will honor your sacrifice

Thank-You-For-Saving-Me-From-Bardugo-Hell anon back again real real quick to plug some of my favorite fantasy fiction with similar vibes to how I thought Shadow & Bone would be!! (1) The Tiger's Daughter is an absolutely epic good-vs-evil warrior maiden romance loosely drawn from Mongolian history, the writing's a bit clunky but the emotions are so deep! (2) Uprooted and (3) Silver Spinner, both by Naomi Novik are just absolutely lovely, they draw on Eastern European folklore & history but they really feel like brand new fairytales. anyway thanks again!!

I love the books, like... if I felt shame it would probably be a guilty pleasure of mine lol, the writing isn’t great and I could nitpick it all day but overall the themes and the characters are ones I love and I really did take a lot from the series; it makes me feel some kind of way. I think it would be easier if I found the series to be lackluster, because then I wouldn’t be so mad at the total butchery the show has done to it. I’m one of those people who will happily hatewatch/hateread things because I just Have To Know, but with this? nah. it’s so bad it’s actually kind of upsetting. I do not recognise any of the characters on the screen, and I’m so pissed at Bardugo for allowing it, being complicit in it, and thinking it’s good. I’ll never touch anything she’s written again, because I know that in a few years she might once again decide Twitter clout is more important than author integrity, and rewrite the whole damn thing.

thank you for the recommendations, though! is that Spinning Silver you mentioned there? I’ve read that one and I thought it was really interesting. it hasn’t quite stuck with me in the same way, but I do remember thinking the writing was beautiful and really reminiscent of those dark fairy tales we all love so much as kids. I’ll definitely have to check out the other two recs!
