in terms of canon ships, they're heavily overhyped but still decent. i really don't care for how in the prophecies begin brightheart has to find her worth in a "man" and how it's cloudtail who has to bring her back to health and make her want to relearn to be a warrior. it'd be nice if brightheart had done it herself WITH his help. 7/10

One thing I love about Zuko and Mai as a couple is how snuggly they are with each other!
Like look at them!!!!!!!
They’re all over each other constantly, and it’s so adorable!!!!!!
Even in the beach episode when Zuko is being snappish with Mai and there’s a strain on the relationship…
…they’re still cuddling the whole time!!!!!
And with the family situations they grew up with they’re probably both super touch starved…
…so they seek out physical affection with each other because they don’t get it anywhere else!!!!
It’s so wonderful seeing how much they care for one another in their body language, especially since neither of them are good with words!!!!

I am not one for sharing controversial opinions on anything that's important or trying to stir up a problem so if y'all get nasty I will delete and block and all that stuff.
That out of the way
People are absolutely allowed to ship whatever they want to ship. That is not the problem here. You wanna ship Bagginshield like they bang eight times a day... Knock yourself out. Or Gigolas like all they did was make out in Lorien or heck if you ship Sauron and Luthien go forth write your fanfics, make your fanart, let your ship flag fly!
It's the people who insist canon characters are together that aren't that bother me. I'm specifically thinking of ships like MerryxPippin or FrodoxSam or GimlixLegolas because here's the thing.
If you say guys can't say they love each other without it being sexual. You're promoting Toxic Masculinity
If you say guys can't cry in general or over each other specifically. You're promoting Toxic Masculinity
If you say guys can't be physically affectionate with each other, guess what? You're promoting Toxic Masculinity big time with this one actually
If you say people can't have a deep abiding lifelong commitment to each other without it being a romantic thing. Not only are you discrediting the asexual/aromantic experience you're also at risk of promoting Toxic Masculinity
So ship your funky ships but be very careful what you start insisting is canon based on that kind of toxic masculinity mindset that men can't be physically affectionate with each other, cry, and be willing to die for each other or spend their whole life in companionship with another dude without it being "gay". We're not middle school boys and it's about time we stopped propagating these post-wwii ideals of what is "appropriate" behavior for men because it's very clear from his writing that Tolkien's views were shaped in a world before the gung-ho emotionally absent John Wayne type became the paragon of what masculinity was supposed to be. Also he traveled and if you look outside Anglo cultures you will find A LOT of cultures with nonsexual affection shown between men. And that's GOOD as humans physical touch is an important part of our health and when it's sexualized you end up with a lot of weird views on touch and this whole mess *gestures to America and its distortions of appropriate physical affection*
So please think about what viewpoints you're promoting when you insist things are canon because X or Y. Again absolutely ship whatever you want just maybe don't act like it's a fact if the evidence you're using is from the skewed post-war views of masculinity that permeate our society

Don't get me wrong I love hiccstrid. It's my favorite canon ship. But incorporating the ship into my fics is going to be a scarcity. There are so many fanfics of them out there. Not really necessary for me to add to the pile. Hence why I indulge so much in vigcup, even if it's a non-canon ship.

Kataang is such a beautiful ship, and it’s because Aang teaches Katara how to be a kid!!! So many people want to put Katara in a sexy adult relationship with a boy older than her, but that’s not what she needs!! She’s 14 years old and emotionally stunted from the trauma of growing up in a war zone, she’s never had the chance to be a silly and immature child! She’s had to grow up too fast and play the part of the responsible mother figure in constantly stressful circumstances and that’s not good or healthy! And I don’t have any firsthand knowledge of this, but I’ve heard it said that brown girls are perceived to be much more mature than they are and are rarely treated like the age they are, and I have a strong suspicion that the fandom is treating Katara this way! Aang, on the other hand, is a sweet optimistic boy with a young soul and a playful nature! He coaxes Katara out of her circumstantially-imposed role of mother and caregiver and teaches her to let go of her fear and anger and just be a kid and it’s so beautiful!!! They have a cute, blushy, awkward, middle-school romance together and that’s what Katara deserves!!!!!

InoAoi FanFic part 2
They sat down to eat
Kanao Tsuyuri walked into the room, she walked over to Aoi
She talked in a cute whisper at most times “Aoi-san”
Aoi turned around and looked the girl in her pretty purple eyes “Yes Kanao-sama?”
“I was wondering, has the concept of romance ever crossed you?”
Aoi sighed “Not . . . really, most boys who come to the mansion are either in love with somebody like Tanjiro or they’re not any mature like Zenitsu”
“Tanjiro-kun’s in love with somebody?” Kanao shrieked
Aoi rolled her eyes “Yeah, you”
A red tint slowly ran over Kanao’s face before you could hardly see her eyes
Aoi immediately started worrying “Are you okay, Kanao-sama?!”
“I’m fine, I’m going to eat, bye Aoi-san”
She watched as Tsuyuri sat down to eat, why were people so interested in her love life so lately?
She grumbled something to herself before hearing someone behind her “Inosuke!” she yelled turning around in a fit of rage
“What?” the boy said, he wasn’t wearing his obscure boar mask. She could see his long-ish black and blue hair, done messily.
“If you want seconds, you can just ask!” she scolded
“This is easier” he replied, his face stuffed with a rice ball
"Here" she handed Inosuke a plate of food "Now don't go stealing food, okay?"
Inosuke's eyes widened "Haha!"
he started eating like the boar who raised him
"Eat slowly, idiot"
"Why?!"
"You'll choke on something" she face palmed
"Don't you eat anything?" Inosuke asked
Aoi raised a brow "I eat in my bedroom, why do you care anyways?"
"Why don't you just eat here?" he asked with food in his mouth
she rolled her eyes "Food tastes batter when I'm alone"
"I enjoy eating when you're here" he said, sounding like an air head
Aoi blushed "Huh!" she looked at him, flustered "What's that supposed to mean?!"
"I said, I enjoy eating when you're here" he repeated
"And why's that?"
"I don't know, I just do" he said blatantly
"Sure. . ." she blushed
"Why's your face all red?"
"My face isn't red!" she felt like going into a coma and not waking up
"You're really weird" Inosuke commented as he got up to leave the kitchen
"Believe me, I know" Aoi said to herself
