Okay I'm now home from watching the Barbie movie, so I have to bestow some knowledge upon you fuckers (aka me infodumping actual Barbie lore because there were a lot of references there).

So, first and foremost, in one scene, we see "Earring Ken" and "Growing up Skipper" (very short scene, don't worry if you missed it). But these were actual Barbie dolls released by Mattel way back whenever (See pictures below)

So, "Earring Ken" was actually "Earring Magic Ken". His whole thing was Mattel wanted to be cool and hip with the kids or whatever, so they created him. Except their idea of going out and finding inspiration and information as to what was "hip with the kids", was gay bars. And raves. As you can imagine, Earring Magic Ken did not stay on shelves too long (about 6 months) (though he did sell actually really well and I believe is still one of their most sold despite only being available for such a short time). I'm pretty sure his necklace charm could be swapped out too and also worn as actual earrings. HOWEVER, the part about Earring Magic Ken that kills me, is that because they went to gay bars, not only did they give him a mesh shirt and shit (as seen above), but the charm on his necklace? Is a cock ring. Did Mattel realize this? Probably the fuck not, but that's what it was💕

Growing up Skipper was also an actual doll, and just like in the movie, if you twisted her arm, she grew boobs. She also grew like an inch taller or something. I'm pretty sure she also was not on the shelf long, but she was introduced in the 1970s. So that's fun

Next up, Midge and Allan (who both play slightly bigger roles in the film but here's pictures anyways)

So Midge was Barbie's best friend, and was released specifically because Mattel found themselves faced with high demand for a pregnant Barbie doll. But of course, Barbie can never get married or be pregnant or have kids, because it ages her, and obviously seeming a little older means Barbie is suddenly worthless and unappealing (Woo patriarchy!). So their solution was Midge, who, ironically, ended up being everything Barbie couldn't (which is kind of funny since she's supposed to be able to be any and everything ever). So, them making her only personality trait in the movie her pregnancy, is kind of spot on. She did have actual dolls initially but then seemed to disappear for a while, having been replaced with other "Barbie's best friend!"'s. Actually they also replaced Barbie's siblings several times but that's another post. Midge did eventually return though in Life in the Dreamhouse (See below)

One thing they never mentioned in the movie, however, is that Allan was actually Midge's boyfriend. I don't have too much on him besides that but I think it's worth mentioning.

Allow me to gush about this monster fucker find today:

I stumbled on this manga at Half Price Books today. Soulless by Gail Carriger.

Victorian era, vampire, werewolves, etc etc. Muy bien. The art is wonderful, too!

There's a novel version of this series, which I think came before the manga, so I might fall down that rabbit hole.

Anywho, here's the first volume's cover:

Of course, being a basic bitch, I really like the alpha werewolf guy. Sorry these screencaps are in French.

However, the main lady character is a preternatural, which means supernatural beings revert to human in her presence.

BONUS, however. Alpha werewolf man is naked, while the main character is dressed, for a section of the comic.

OH and additional bonus: She's 26!

I'm fighting the urge to buy the rest of this series.

Also, Lord Akeldama? He's so cute and over-the-top, but still sensible. It's rare when a vampire steals my heart as much as a werewolf, but... here we are.

I think he's supposed to be explicitly gay - and thereby "not a threat" to the main love interest - buuut I wouldn't complain if he ended up being bi. (I just want polycules all around.)

I've been getting addicted with playing Valorant recently and thought it would be fun to try and make some hcs for Mizu <3

Clove's release is so exciting and I'm so happy non-binary people are given some representation in games. They're so much fun and their ult mechanic is such a game-changer.

Please tell me if you'd like me to make more of these or if I should make some for other games too (as long as I know them well enough).

✦ Her fave maps are Icebox and Bind. Whenever you play comp with her and these maps roll up, you're internally fucking hollering. You're thanking every possible deity there is, dancing in your seat, kissing your monitor.

She's such a god in these maps. Every good agent for every role, every lineup, and even some pro play shit strats, she memorized it.

She loves Icebox for how easy it was to clear angles and how easy it was to formulate AND predict strategies. The map was pretty straightforward and no bullshit. Perfect for her.

Bind for the outplay potentials. Teleporters + Yoru TP/Omen TP and Ult? There's no telling where she may be. Will she plant in A? Will she plant in B? Maybe she's already flanking? Who knows?

✦ Mizu doesn't buy skins but she DOES have some. They're gifts from you and her friends! An oni phantom, neptune spectre, and sovereign marshal from Akemi; An arcane sheriff from Taigen because they're probably taking their shit-talking to League too; and a reaver vandal, reaver karambit, and the oni katana from you.

She doesn't really give a shit about skins, but ever since she was gifted one, she started appreciating them. You'll see her using the inspect animation once in a while if she picks up a skin she's never seen before.

If it's just a chill comp game or she's playing solo queue, she'll use the oni katana. If she's playing with you and/or wants to show off, she'll use the reaver karambit. Of course you have to go with the sexy one when trying to impress.

✦ Doesn't shit talk heavily, but shit talks in a way that'll piss you off.

"Ooooh shit someone's mad," you laughed over the voice-comms, watching as the enemy Reyna started spewing all sorts of insults at your team. It was mostly targeted at Mizu, who was also playing Reyna, and was top-fragging. Soon after that fiasco, you'd see Mizu type "." in all chat every time she killed the enemy Reyna, got a clutch, and even an ace. Everyone was snickering at her antics, finding it funny how Mizu was shitting on them while the enemy was clearly progressively getting even more tilted.

On the other hand, if Taigen was there and Mizu failed to clutch the round, he'd be laughing loudly over the voice chat, making fun of her over and over. He'd even type "GG [insert Mizu's current agent]. Aimlabs is free" in team chat, which was so fucking embarrassing. The moment Mizu catches Taigen lacking, she'll be having a hayday in the team chat, spamming "GG [insert Taigen's current agent], Aimlabs is free" over and over which effectively pisses Taigen off.

✦ Along with the previous one, if someone ever decided to trashtalk you, she's going absolutely feral. She still wouldn't be spewing nonsense, but you'll notice her becoming more aggressive.

"Didn't you just use your ult?" You asked her, spectating as she used another Reyna ult which you swore she just used two rounds ago. "I just feel like playing a little better today," she replies. But then goes to strafe like a fucking bitch, doing a poppin' swing once or thrice, making the enemy struggle before killing the enemy and t-bagging them aggressively.

You raised an eyebrow at her antics but still laughed at it. "You sure you're not here for blood?" you joked. "Yeah.." she said while spamming your trashtalker's KD status in all-chat.

✦ There's no doubt about how well she plays with different agents, but her worst agent to use would be Gekko. Something about Dizzy's trajectory and letting Wingman plant and defuse felt off to her. Maybe it was because she was used to having control over the speed of her flashes and being able to fake defuse.

✦ Actually responds to "clutch or gay" jokes.

If a random teammate or anyone in your friend group (mainly Taigen) decides to use that joke on her during a clutch situation, it doesn't matter if it's a 1v1, a 1v5, a 1v5 + Sage res + Clove ult. She's winning. She's fucking winning.

You watched in anticipation as Mizu, using Omen, went through attacker spawn in Breeze. It was a 1v4, having picked one off when she picked up the spike. For a moment, you thought of something before typing "clutch or gay" in team chat. It worked for your other friends and randos, why not try it?

The moment she read that chat from you, you could immediately see Omen throwing his weapons off of the map. The noise of the agent's footsteps prompting the enemy to shoot him. "Bro what the fuck are you doing?" Taigen groans, annoyance heavy in his voice. Mizu doesn't respond in voice chat, but you hear her typing. After a while, a chat pops up.

(Whisper) From mizu: did you see that?

(Whisper) To mizu: mhm. why'd u do that :c

(Whisper) From mizu: you said clutch or gay

(Whisper) From mizu: i didn't clutch.

But she only ever does this to you.

✦ Actually plays fill but everyone in your friend group decided to place her as a duelist. She's going to treat every agent like a damn duelist anyway. Why place her somewhere else? You get site early and fast + She gets higher RR from combat score. It's a win-win. Plus, she loves secretly showing off to you. She relishes the "woah where'd you learn to satchel like that?", the "nice kill!" when she wins in an Iso 1v1, and the way you bought her an op upon her request when she used Jett as if you automatically trusted her.

If someone had told you your entire life would be flipped on its head just from a few short video edits and a trending hashtag you would have called them mad. Unfortunately, Emily Dickinson had a point when she said,“Much madness is divinest sense.”

The ‘madness’ in this case was the sheer amount of people who had started spreading the before-mentioned videos around and the ‘sense’ being your incredibly obvious feelings for the person who was essentially your boss. It’s a bit of an oversimplification, and the biggest reason you have not to tell Hailee the truth, but the point still stands.

You still have no idea how things got blown so out of proportion since the speculation around you two has been swirling around since day one. Clearly, not having any new music projects to focus on has driven her fans into madness.

It would be fine…if you and Hailee were still on speaking terms.

Are you being dramatic? Maybe a little but your friendship or relationship or whatever the hell it was that you two had going on at some point isn’t what it used to be. The blame isn’t entirely on her but your own bitterness about the situation tends to cloud your judgment sometimes…okay, most of the time.

Right now is a perfect example of it.

You’ve been staring at your phone for what feels like hours, mentally debating if you should give in and reply to Hailee’s text. You really, really, don’t want to but what other choice do you have? It’s not like you can ignore her forever, you’ve already promised her you’ll join her on her next tour, whenever it finally happens.

You decide to suck it up and agree to meet her for coffee. The last thing you need is to be seen hanging out with her right now but you’re sure it’s all part of the plan. A plan that probably didn’t come from the singer herself, but rather from the group of people who act like they want the best for her but are really just trying to sell her image like it’s a product.

Because who cares about morals and dignity as long as you get streams on your music, right?

You shove your bitter thoughts out of your mind for now and focus on getting ready to see Hailee again.

The hours simultaneously feel like seconds and eternity and before you know it, you’re sitting at a semi-secluded table in a random coffee shop with your knee bouncing up and down like there are ants crawling up your pants. No amount of breathing exercises or grounding techniques can stop your heart from hammering in your chest from the mere thought of the brunette.

You’re not sure what she wants from you, you just have a bad feeling about it. Although maybe that’s your broken heart talking, you can’t be sure.

You notice her the second she walks in and you do an awful job at pretending you’re looking at something on your phone instead of her. You act like you can’t see the smile on her face from this distance just like she acts like she can’t see you. Both of you look ridiculous but neither of you mind.

She finally joins you after another eternity of waiting and despite all the questions that are swirling around in your brain, you force yourself to wait for her to go first.

“I need your help with something.”

After months of not talking to each other, that’s what she leads with. You would complain about her lack of greeting but you’re grateful she’s getting right to the point so you can wrap this up and go back to avoiding your feelings. “That’s a bold start.”

She rolls her eyes, more out of habit than anything else. “It’s been five seconds, are we going to fight already?”

“I guess that depends on what you want me to do,” you reply.

“I want you in the SunKissing music video. We finally got the green light for it and it’s the perfect way to take advantage of all the buzz around the two of us.”

You can’t help but wonder if she’s joking. The ‘buzz’ around you two is just people speculating and piecing together the history Hailee has spent so long ignoring and rewriting. History that’s filled with arguments. bitter kisses, unspoken confessions and stolen glances.

You force the memories out of your mind. Along with the weird ache you feel every time you focus on Hailee’s eyes.

“Me dancing in the background of your music video isn’t going to be a trending topic, Hailee.”

She shrugs. “It will be if we kiss.”

“You’re joking,” you say, unable to hide the way her words take you by surprise.

“I’m serious.”

“You’re choosing now to come out? You think this will make everyone forget about your little stunt with the QB?”

Your mention of the New York stunt hits her hard and if you’re being honest, that’s exactly why you brought it up. You’re not interested in turning your private life into Hailee’s next big scandal. Even if it means pissing her off until she changes her mind.

The way she clenches her jaw is all you need to know you’re not going to like her next words. “It’s not a coming out. It’s an acting project.”

“You’re never going to change are you?” You ask, not sure whether to be impressed or disappointed by her idea.

“Come on, y/n.” She leans forward and places her hand on top of yours. You half-expect a camera flash to accompany the action but you seem to be safe for now. “You know you’re the only person I trust with this.”

Her words would be cute if you hadn’t fallen for them already. Multiple times. It’s always been the same way with her. She gives you a few months of her attention, makes you believe your unspoken affections aren’t one-sided, just to rip it away from you the second you think you’ve made progress.

“You’re the last person in this room who should be talking about trust.”

“Oh my God!” She leans back, her hand slipping away from you and taking any hope of avoiding an argument with it. “When are you going to let that go?”

You’re not even sure what she thinks you’re upset about this time. The list is so long, she could be referencing anything and be completely right. And yet somehow, you’re the one who’s in the wrong for still being upset.

“When you apologize for being a piece of shit,” you say as if it’s the most obvious thing in the world. Which it is. To you, anyway.

The brunette across from you clearly doesn’t feel the same. “That’s unfair.”

“Leading someone on is unfair, Hailee.”

“You are so stubborn. How the hell did I ever sleep with you?”

You can’t tell if she’s joking or not but either way, you don’t want to hear another word from her.

“I’m leaving,” you say as you rise to your feet, ignoring your half-finished drink and the flash of regret that passes through those brown eyes you can’t help but love.

“Shit, shit, y/n, wait!”

“I already did wait or did you forget about that too?”

You don’t give her a chance to answer instead choosing to ignore her rushed apology and walking away like you should have done when this whole conversation started.

You make it about six feet away from the entrance when you hear Hailee’s voice calling after you. “Will you do it if I tell you it was my idea?”

It’s a desperate attempt for your attention and yet you fall for it all the same. Everything inside of you is telling you to leave but you can’t. Not when you’re this close to getting her to be honest with both herself and you.

“If it’s the truth,” you respond with your back still facing her.

“It is.” The scent of her perfume overwhelms you as her hands grip your waist. You fight back the urge to move away from her and allow her to turn you around to look at her. “I told my label it would be good publicity but honestly…I just really miss you.”

You can’t stop yourself from laughing. The sound comes out softer than you thought possible. “You couldn’t call like a normal person?”

“We’re not normal people, y/n,” she says, the ghost of a smile lingering on her lips. “You know that better than anyone. You know me better than anyone.”

“Do I?”

She takes a step closer to you and you hate the way your eyes instantly drop down to her lips. It’s an instinct that no amount of time away from her can rewrite. “Let me prove it to you. Please.”

“You’re not going to fix this with a few kisses, Hailee.”

There’s an unspoken promise in her eyes. One that says she’ll kiss you as many times as she has to until she proves you wrong. And you have no doubt that she will.

Her hands move up from your waist to cup your cheeks. Her movements are slow and careful almost as if she’s waiting for you to change your mind.

In a way, you do because whatever remaining doubt you had about your feelings for the brunette fades away in an instant. You push away all your hesitation and close the gap between your lips.

It’s the sweetest kiss you’ve ever shared. It’s full of almost inaudible sighs, gentle touches, and the overwhelming truth of your desires. Mainly, the desire to keep going.

“One chance,” you whisper as you pull away. “I’ll help you with the music video. I’ll let you in again. Don’t make me regret it.”

“Promise.”

You’re about to tell her not to make promises she can’t keep but she kisses you again before you get the chance to.

I wanted to piggy-back off the Harry Potter ask regarding performance activism specifically regarding Harry Potter fandom.

I'm a little woozy after a medical emergency I had this week but I'm scared ill forget this, so bare with me, please.

JK Rowling coming out as a TERF was absolutely heartbreaking especially as a queer person who grew up on the series. The series was a life-line in a time where I was being drowned in loneliness. I literally grew up with the books. I started when I was eleven and read the final books ad an 18 yr old.

And when she first came out, I was one of the many who wanted to walk away and no longer wanted to associate with it, but felt so wrong.

It felt wrong on many levels. On the most noticeable, it made me incredibly sad that I felt I was no longer allowed to read the books, enjoy the movies with my family, got to some of the Harry Potter exhibits with my family. A huge part of my adolescence was suddenly forbidden.

Abstaining from the series was hurting me more than it was impacting her.

Then, from a more social justice perspective, what does us abstaining actually do? I mean really, it's like the trnasphobes dumbing their beer over Dylan. Or burning merch over finding out someone is gay or whatever. We make fun of people destroying their merch because the corporations already have their money.

It's the same thing with JKR. She already made her money. She doesn't care what her fans think because she doesn't have to.

Refusing to engage with a piece of media to feel morally superior just makes the individual feel better and I think we do it because people feel powerless and like they have no other way to advocate and fight against transphobia.

It also feels like a way to feel morally superior and as an opportunity to punch down.

So, I, a queer person, let myself enjoy a piece of media creates by a transphobe, because that piece of fiction has grown to be so much more than its creator.

For advocacy?

I donate. I engage with the community. I'm mindful of the conversations I engage in. I speak when needed and listen when needed. I donate when I can. I support trans creators when I can. I vote. I learn our queer history and understand where we've come from and what has allowed us to grow into the community we are now.

Personally, I find it more satisfying and more rewarding, and more impactful than ignoring a fandom and piece of literature that has brought myself and my family joy.

Just a rant.

Does everyone else have that issue of everyone pushing off your dislike for sexual things as you "not being ready" or "not meeting the one". If I am told by some fifty-something year old aunt that I'll understand what it is like to feel something for someone one day one more time I'll burst.

It's so annoying to explain to grown adults over and over that I'm over twenty and my life isn't some silly wattpad novel written by a bored thirteen year old. I'm not going to meet some werewolf/vampire prince/ss or whatever and realize that the reason I was never interested in anyone else was because my soul was meant for that ONE being.

And those annoying family members who not able to understand that people can not be interested in starting a family and dating. It's silly that I get told by my dad that I'm just being silly, or he still wants grandkids. My brother is gay and has less interest in children then me but he accepts it from him and not me because it's a girls duty to have a family. (And I'm not misunderstanding my dad. He stole my pocket knife because he said girls shouldn't play with knives then got angry when I refused to help make supper because I used his words against him and refuse to touch the kitchen knives.)

My mom, bless her soul, tries to understand but always makes me feel guilty. I know she doesn't mean it but whenever she worries about my future she rants how she doesn't want me to be alone with no one to rely on, it hurts because I've tried but no matter what I do I can't really feel anything for those people and I don't feel comfortable making someone like me if I feel nothing for them.

As for my friends. The girls are cool but I started realising some of the guys were attracted to me. Someone had to point it out because I'm extremely dense when someone flirts with me and I think they're trying to be competitive or outdo me in whatever we're busy with and I like to taunt them which apparently counts as being flirty. My bestie pointed it out and my socially awkward self just ghosted them until they realised I wasn't interested. I'm don't feel bad about ghosting because they are well aware of my sexual orientation and know I'm essentially heartless when it comes to people who cross my boundaries.

Anywho, rant over. Feels better letting it out even if it doesn't get posted.

For those of you suffering from parents and family pressuring you into dating remember that life is too short to make yourself that miserable. If they truly care about you they'll try to make an effort to understand you. If they don't it's not worth your time to worry. But that's just my life advice. Everyone is different.

okay! hello bee! i have decided to collect all my thoughts here as i near the end so here i go!

okay first of all, i am not famously a fantasy enjoyer though recently i read six of crows and night circus (night circus kicked me into fantasy gear) so i decided to tackle this! i am the kind of person who requires a book to be fast paced if im going to get into it (like i never got into harry potter because the beginning was boring) and priory did just that for me it was constantly moving and that is exactly what i needed. now while i loved it and it was amazing, i can recognize that the fast paced nature made it so that things feel a tad underdeveloped and when i think back. i love it all in the heat of the moment, though stepping back i can say that due to the nature of how the book was written a lot of things can feel sort of rushed for someone who is reading it (it didnt feel rushed for me but i can see how it would for a lot of people and how it might if i read it again under circumstances in which i took my time). either way i adored it, i liked the switching povs, i liked the politics and the exploration of religion and the questioning of all someone has known. i like how she broke typical gender stereotypes and introduced lgbtq relationships in ways that didnt make it so scandalous that they were gay but more so just because of status. i like how there were platonic relationships especially between males and females where they didnt once have a sort of unrequited love situation because while those do happen, so do these platonic relationships where people are just family to each other and have never been anything more. i am living for women training to be soldiers/warriors though i wish we got more of tané and her training or just more time of her before her dragon got yoinked cause i like her wish she got more screentime! anywho speaking of tané i do like her ending i think it opens the door for a lot of possibilities and that it basically is saying that her story is not yet over! anyways this has gotten far longer than i intended for it to be that is /my/ bad. i hope you have a good day bee, thank you for the silly book recs i have now sufficiently fallen into the realm of fantasy books

I definitely understand what you mean by saying some things felt fast paced, but also I think it's a testament to how much goes on in priory that some things can still feel like they needed more words when the book is already 800+ pages long. personally I'd say there was only one moment that felt actually rushed to me and that was the big final battle, but I was skimming through the authors old tumblr and she said that originally it was longer but her editor convinced her to cut it down, which was a decision she came to regret so I don't blame her for that one

yes yes yes I loved all of those things. it's so refreshing to read about a world where there's no question about women being warriors or queens or lgbtq people/dynamics are completely normal. like, it's not exactly a world completely free of homophobia or sexism when you consider how every berethnet queen is basically destined to be a baby machine to pump out the next queen in line, but those themes are explored in a much more nuanced and subtle way which I really adored

also I agree I wish we'd gotten more screentime with tané and nayimathun because I loved their dynamic so much, and all of tané's training was SO interesting I just loved everything with the miduchi dragonriders

I'm reading the prequel to priory right now and it goes so much more in depth to so many of the different cultures and groups we see in the first book. I'm in love with it so far I definitely would recommend it if you would want to see a lot more of that kind of thing in depth

So I started to do a Star Trek Voyager rewatch... this was mostly inspired by reading a hotass ice queen lesbian book called The Headmistress, that references it and reminded me I loved it when I watched it, I'm not gonna lie.... anywho here's some of my thoughts from the first episode

Wait. I forgot it literally starts with a Star Wars-esq text intro.

I always forget how intense Janeways bun of steel is. What magic do they use to make it?

Voyager really is a sexy ass ship.

I feel less bad that Janeway is about to be separated from her fiancé dude, than how badly I feel for her being separated from her dog...

Ah yes, Tom Paris, I still never know how I feel about your character.

I forgot how long the first episode is. Damn. I'm only halfway through it.

Gods, I am such a sucker for a redhead... Gods, I am so gay, don't tell my husband.

Oh B'Elanna is such a badass.

Gods, Kess's wig is so so bad. And man did I always find her relationship with Neelix just creepy...

I 100% forgot that the reason the caretaker was kidnapping people was he was trying to procreate. Wtf.

Janeway really does make the hard choice here, proving why she's the GOAT.

Warnings: a little angst, underage drinking (kind of), some small talk about trauma/shitty parents, talk about how being gay is TECHNICALLY illegal cause it's the fucking 80s, probably poor writing but whatever

Longer title of this was "I Don't Care If We Can Never Be Seen Together, I Just Want You" but I decided to shorten it to just "I Just Want You"

This was also gonna be totally different, but then it became this (and I LOVE this so)

And this can take place literally any time after Season 3 (only bc Robin is apart of the group) but Nancy and Jonathan didn't get together in this timeline...but that's really the only fully 'non canon' thing about this fic

And the fact that people forget that it was technically illegal to be gay in the 80s. Like people would literally be arrested just because of that, ESPECIALLY IN SOMEWHERE LIKE INDIANA. Like, if you had AIDS, it was automatically assumed you were gay and people would hate you for it. So I kinda mentioned that here because I just love ✨historical accuracy✨

Anywho, enjoy

Y/N stood in the corner, trying not to be noticed by anyone. She just wished the floor would cave in and swallow her whole. God, she felt so stupid. Why didn't she see it? See Nancy's blatant feelings for Jonathan? How could she have been so gullible to think that her and Nancy would be anything more than friends. It's the fucking 80s. No one would even be able to know about them. So she didn't know why she had lead herself to believe that Nancy felt the same.

She held the red solo cup in her right hand as she gripped her bicep with her left hand. She was constantly blinking away the tears that threatened to fall from her eyes. She watched her friends have fun from afar. And they deserved it. They deserved to have fun. And she had been having fun with them, until the feelings came in. Until she saw Nance and Jonathan. Until she remembered that she always came second to him. When she finally realized why.

She sat the cup on the stand next to her and made her way to the back door. She didn't even understand why she was really even here anymore. She only came because Nancy had practically begged her to do so. She was just planning on staying home to study. She knew that she should have just done that. Told her friend to have fun at the party herself. But Nancy had flashed Y/N her puppy dogs eyes that always caused Y/N to melt.

When she made it, she sighed as she felt the cool fall air around her. She walked and sat onto the pools diving board. She had been so into her own thoughts that she hadn't noticed the concerned look Nancy had given as she saw her friend walking outside. Nor did she hear her give Jonathan some excuse and headed outside to check on her friend. Nor did she realized that Nancy was calling out her name. It wasn't until the girl reached her hand into the water and splashed it up onto her friend that Y/N noticed she was there.

While she was ready to cuss someone out for getting her wet without any warning, the words died in her throat when she saw it was Nancy. All that she did was look back down and stare at her reflection in the water.

But now that she was aware of her friends presence, she heard everything she was doing now. Starting with the sigh she gave before she spoke, "What's going on with you? You usually love parties."

Y/N just shrugged, "Guess I'm just not that into it tonight. But you can go back in, Nance. No reason to be concerned for me."

Nancy gave her a concerned smile, "But I can tell that something's bothering you. So," She climbed onto the diving board and sat on the left side of the board. She placed her arm around her friends shoulder, "Tell me what it is. Do I have to get Steve to beat anyone up? Or need me to run them over?"

Y/N let out a meek little laugh. "You don't have to do anything to anyone. It's really nothing. Just getting my head again."

"Did your parents say something again?"

She silently shook her head, "Not this week."

Nancy softly nodded, "Then what is it? It's clearly bugging you."

Y/N sighed, "Have you ever liked someone you can't have?"

"What do you mean?"

She turned on the board to where she was fully sitting next to Nancy and turned to look at her. "I mean, have you ever wanted a relationship with a person that you can't have? Because they're either in a relationship. Or like someone else. Or they would never like you because of who you are? And you're scared that if they found out the truth they would hate you forever? But you keep telling yourself that little things they do proves that they feel the same but then you see them with someone else and you remember that you'll always be second best to them? All because you're...different."

"I-yeah. Yeah I do."

She gave Nancy a surprised look, "Really?"

Nancy nodded. "There's this person that I've liked for years. But I know if I do anything, we could never be seen as more than friends. And it hurts me. Especially because I know of their feelings for me." She laughed softly, "They're literal shit at hiding their feelings. Plus, one time they were so drunk and out of it, that they confessed it." She sighed and looked out to the forest behind Steve's home. "That was when I realized the feelings actually. That I realized everything that I thought had been friendly was more. That I wanted them more than just a friend. But I know that we could never be more than that. No matter how much I want it."

"Nance I-"

Nancy ignored Y/N and continued, "Sometimes when we're talking, I want nothing more than to just lean in and kiss her." Y/N felt her air cut off. Her? Nancy liked a girl? But...but who? She heard Nancy laugh, "God, sometimes I forget how similar you and Robin are."

Oh.

"You like Robin?"

Nancy's eyes widened and she shook her head feverently, "No! God no. She's just a friend. I just said that because she was so oblivious to the fact that Vickie likes her back."

"Then who is it that you like, Nance? Cause it sure seems as if you like Jonathan."

Nancy sighed and muttered, "I guess now is as good of a time as ever." Just as she leaned into Y/N and kissed her. It took Y/N by such surprise that she hadn't realized it happened until Nancy pulled away. "You. You're the person I like."

But instead of saying anything back. Y/N just gathered any and all fucking courage she had in her body and grabbed Nancy's face to kiss her again. Nancy deepened the kiss by placing her hand on the back of Y/N's neck. Y/N moved one of her hands onto the board and the other on Nancy's arm. Moving them both to where she was on top of Nancy as she laid on the length of the board. Nancy's legs were dangling off the edge of the board as Y/N's legs were slotted on either side of Nancy's. At some point, Nancy had snuck her hand underneath Y/N's shirt and was groping her boobs.

The two finally pulled away from each other, or rather jumped from each other, as Steve yelled at them. "If you guys are gonna sleep with each other, at least do it in a goddamn room. Not on my fucking diving board."

The looked to him surprised before he just rolled his eyes at them and walked back in. Y/N sat back on her knees and Nancy moved and copied her.

"I hate that we could never be seen together. Like, actually together. As more than just friends or 'roommates.' Y'know? I wish we could just be us."

Nancy gave Y/N a soft smile, "I don't care if we can never be seen together. I just want you. In any way I can have you. Even if it means living our life in secret."

"Really?"

Nancy nodded and kissed Y/N softly on the nose, "Really."
