guess who finished talia’s ref/propaganda post!

talia is one of my oldest splat ocs (both in creation age [july 2016] and character age at 24) and honestly not much has changed about his design since i made her! the main difference is literally just some fun new piercings and a lgbt pass

talia is 5’10” and the middle child in his family! he has one older sister (taller still, a firefighter named moselle) and one younger sister (ren, new ranked battler) and they all come from calamari county where they were primarily raised by their mother :]

he moved to inkopolis at 15 to get into turf + to try to meet the squid sisters since they’re from the same area! there, he met peri, and they became roommates for about a year before they started dating

talia is highly money motivated mostly because she wants to make sure ren and her mother especially can live an easy life. she also wants to do something good with her life like moselle, who she looks up to as a hero.

sooo after a couple of years turfing with peri (an e-liter main) and working part time at the crust bucket, grizzco opened and the two decided to check it out!

turns out they’re very good at it + get paid very well as a result so that quickly becomes their priority and are very consistently ranked at profreshional

talia believes he’s doing something good to help out both mr. grizz and inkadia so he’s happy

after a while, grizzco’s splatlands branch opened and the two were forcibly relocated invited to move to the splatlands to help out with egg retrieval and training, and subsequently hit eggsecutive vp with victoria and fiorello in their now complete quad

talia knows jacinthe (my agent 3) but at the moment he does not know anything about the true nature of grizzco.

talia is a very trusting person and will typically take whats in front of him at face value. as mentioned before, she’s very tall and is pretty loud/high energy, so can be unintentionally overbearing when meeting new people. he also has the worst name memory ever so will typically nickname everyone he meets to something he can easily remember (peri is a nickname! jury’s out if he remembers her actual name) such as eggs for victoria and safety for fiorello. however, talia is very afraid of being perceived as a rude person, so tries very hard to be seen as the opposite, typically with gifts. can be unexpectedly emotional—cried over clam mochi being different when homesick, whenever big man loses, etc

her favorite idol in the splatlands is big man because she feels like she relates the best to him (and often feels sorry for him). his favorite splatbands are diss pair and front roe, but feels no connection to squid squad.

splatfest wise, he will consider his favorite idol’s alignment first before his own preferences. ex. he’s terrified of ghosts but likely will be on big man’s team for splatoween

in my imagination, his tentacles are box braids in human form :]

Just a little thought I had while writing my WIP and now it is haunting me. Which Bat, whether canonically or as a headcanon, is the most fashionable? Add your reasoning for why in the tags!

cbf is NOT dangerous he hasnt done like, fucking anything!

I assume this is about the poll, which i don’t vote on so idk maybe this is a sign CBF is in the lead, but if it is my advice to you is to vote for one of the other four options. I did put Aimee on the list too, even though she’s relatively harmless, because I was intentionally including big-name ghosts who people would recognize, not ones who are overtly dangerous. However, there may be a reason for the consensus… A lot of the threat of CBF does come from personal speculation based on the incredibly adverse and traumatized reactions Ghost has around it.

Ghost shows clear signs of PTSD, not only when CBF is around, but when aspects of his time with CBF are shown in some way— he completely rejects his original name which we only really know CBF calling him. The one time the pair openly interact, being around CBF is enough to trigger Jimmy Casket to come out, something that doesn’t often happen unless Ghost feels as if there is an immediate threat if someone is not already bleeding. I mention a lot of what might have been dangerous about CBF in the underdeveloped masterpost, speculating that it could range from being a literal demon to actually harmless.

I would love to say let people have their own headcanons, and that includes yours and your opinion that CBF is harmless, but I would like to remind you that this canon speculation isn’t based on nothing. Even if it was, we are allowed to disregard or interpret parts of the continuity however we choose to, and if someone wants to see CBF as a world-ending demon akin to a god, that’s okay too.

In Cardboard Friend’s original video, it is alone with Gregory in a large house. By the end of the video the child is seemingly running for his life from what he considers a threat. Something he considers a threat into his adulthood even with no memories of who or what CBF is. He is implied to have been kidnapped and taken from his family. Over the continuity it is implied that Ghost started having issues with his memory and showing signs of PTSD after being trapped with CBF. CBF remembers his dad, he does not, implying something happened to his dad between when CBF entered and left his life, which often leads to a hc that CBF did something to T.Casket since it’s the easiest A to B answer.

Ghost refuses to be called Gregory, CBF constantly repeats his name. Ghost struggles to remember his past, his time with CBF is I believe the Earliest Account we have of his life. He already has memory issues while in his young life, and before he shows signs of Casket. Ghost has stunted learning development (can’t read, something we see him relying on CBF to do for him as a child) and CBF acts incredibly childish and says it sees Gregory as a brother. People with memory issues will often still remember traumatic instances enough to push back against them, and Ghost acts weirdly uncomfortable from the Minute CBF is reintroduced into his life. If Ghost is right about CBF, it has and does target other families. Even if it doesn’t bite or shoot or hurt people physically, Ghost’s trauma could almost be entirely put onto CBF.

YES, CBF could be a harmless child who is just looking for a family, but Ghost’s abject terror could also be valid and we should allow people to experiment with that.

Eight years ago I was so deeply invested in the American presidential election, I listen to multiple weekly podcasts, I was on twitter, I checked the polling updates, read the articles, watched the news, I could tell you the political happenings of every week of 2016, and we were on the road for a large portion of it so we had to work for it. We watched one of the presidential debates in a Las Vegas Panera before heading back to our campsite. I did something similar for the 2020 election because jesus christ what a fucking Historical Year. Now it’s 2024, and gearing up for the grind once more is such a dismal feeling. I don’t want to have to have an opinion on Nicky Haley’s viability as republican candidate. I don’t want to follow another twelve Trump trials. I don’t want to watch everyone even slightly left of center once again devour each other as we polarize about it’s a bigger war crime to vote for Biden or not vote for Biden. Everything is going to get so unpleasant and it’s so important and the stakes are so high and it’s gonna suck the whole time. I’m trying to think of one funny thing that could plausibly happen that would fill me with joy and not terror for the future of America and also the world, and so far I’ve only come up with Jeb Bush giving a presidential campaign another go.
