my personal favorite interpretation of Nico's confession to Percy in BoO and Percy's reaction is that. Nico was one foot in the grave at the time - heavily injured, exhausted, probably suffering from blood loss, actively turning into shadows, etc etc. And he mentions himself several times that he's not acting quite like himself, such as smiling a lot and his mind wandering and his vision being unsure. Dude is OUT OF IT. He is one strong breeze away from crumpling on the floor and falling unconscious for multiple days (again).
a.) no wonder Will was like "three days in the infirmary now. you will melt into a puddle if you try and summon a wishbone." cause Nico was probably standing there with a glassy look in his eyes waving like a leaf in the wind on the verge of collapsing.
b.) just imagine Percy's pov: The guy you've known for three years stumbles up to you on the verge of death, clearly still bleeding and half-fading into nothingness. Obviously a little delirious at best. Normally he's extremely awkward talking to people and hates physical interaction and every time he talks to you he looks like he wants to run away as fast as possible. You are 80% sure he wants you dead but is trying to be polite about it. He walks up to you with the confidence only someone suffering from extreme dehydration/major blood loss on the verge of passing out can have, tells you that you're not his type, high-fives your girlfriend (who you thought he had a crush on?) (you weren't even sure he knew what high-fives were. you're still not sure he does) and stumbles off without finishing the conversation. You ask your girlfriend if she understands what the hell just happened. She has no idea either. You decide to chalk it up to him having no idea what was going on either.
Three days later Nico wakes up in the infirmary in a cold sweat, having remembered that interaction and goes "WHAT HAVE I DONE?!"

tgcf book spoilers, but one mu qing and xie lian snippet that I think about a lot is this one, at the start of xie lian’s second banishment when he’s surprised to hear mu qing being described as generous and kind:
as opposed to this memory from before his first ascension when mu qing started giving out cherries to the kids in the city:
I think it just really goes to show 1) how deeply mq’s actions truly affected xl and what he thought of him, but also 2) just how different mq and xl are fundamentally in the way that they think and approach things.
I don’t have a lot of commentary on xl that hasn’t already been said, but bc we get the story from xl’s pov, we see a lot of mq’s actions being framed as selfish or suspicious (which is fair, bc again, we know how much his actions hurt xl), but we also see a lot of misconstrued kindness, like in book 8 where it’s revealed that he knocked out fx in order to save him. it’s also pretty obvious how much mq still cares abt xl, with how quickly he volunteers as fu yao and the lengths he goes to protect him when he deems hc a threat, so I also think it’s very likely that mq leaving the trio first was exactly what he said it was — that he thought becoming a junior official, ascending quickly, would be the best way to take care of not just his mother, but also xl, fx, the king and queen, and himself, and so in a way, him leaving was him acting on his kindness. but ofc it doesn’t work out, and he spends the next 800 years fighting w/ fx about it, defending himself, his decisions, and his kindness, and nitpicking the accuracies of his statues while he himself remains completely misunderstood by the two people he probably cares abt the most.
and idk, I guess I just think that’s probably a really lonely way to spend 800 years.

Sheldon: *laughing to himself* "I wish you can all be inside my head! The conversation is sparkling!"
The guys: . . .
Sheldon: "Fine! I'll tell you! A lichen is an organism made up of two separate species, fungi and algae. If you could merge with another species, which species would you pick and why? Hint: there is a right answer. None of you will get it."
Raj: "Okay, I'd pick swan because the resulting hybrid would have the advanced industrial civilization of a human and the long graceful neck I've always dreamed of having!"
Sheldon: "Wrong. The best organism for human beings to merge with is the lichen itself. That way you'd be human, fungus, and algae. Triple threat! Like three-bean salad."
Leonard: "Give me one circumstance that would be useful."
Sheldon: "Alright, picture this. A beautiful outdoor concert. Now, as a human, I appreciate Beethoven, as a fungus I have a terrific view growing out of a towering maple tree, and no thank you expensive concessions because as an algae, I'll just snack on this sunlight."
Raj: "He got us again."
Leonard: "No, he didn't."
Raj: "Anyway, if its okay with you we should talk about Howard's bachelor party."
Sheldon: "Well, seems bit of a let down after our lichen conversation, but what would you know, your half-swan."

Conversation I had at Walmart:
My dad: *pokes me with a dish-drying mat*
Me: What are you doing?
Him: I'm sword-fighting you.
Me: It's only a sword fight if both people have swords and intend to fight, otherwise it's just a stabbing.
Him, laughing: I guess you're right.

I don't really understand the point of autographs, but it's a low effort way for actors (especially smaller ones) to make money
Won Nana Visitor and Garrett Wang signed photos
Got a special signing with the Rat Pack cause they held the cosplay contest at the same time as the signatures, so I missed every one of the ones that came with my pass. Dr. Trek made it happen for me though, and he was super cool
Casey Biggs and Jeffrey Combs made it happen, wish I'd gotten them at the normal time. Sort of caught them all on the side of the stage
Vaughn Armstrong was very, very sweet, especially considering I didn't have a photo for him to sign
Max Grodénchik took about 10 minutes to sign, meticulously picking out the right location on the picture, right pen, and right color. He wished me luck "much profit," saying it didn't have to be money. Abundance in life. When he was done, talked to him a little bit about the Rat Pack show (and the special Strike version) since he wrote most of the songs
Ethan Phillips recommended some books to me (though I can't for the life of me remember them, I cry), and he was overall very nice
Jeri Ryan was completely swamped but I told her voyager was my absolute favorite and she acknowledged my Janeway cosplay and asked how to say my name. She even laughed at my little name joke
Robert Picardo made minimal conversation, and he picked up and started reading his book to make me go away (it was like 2 minutes max, he had no line, and it was quiet in there. Same vibe both times I've talked to him)
Brent Spiner and I talked about his book for at least 5 minutes, even with his unending line
Michelle Hurd was again very lovely, and I was asking her about the SAG strike
Eugene Cordero hung out at the after party, and he signed my useless gift certificate making it "worth less". I paid for an autograph after just cause he was such a cool, chill guy
Only took pictures with Bonnie Gordon because of my deep cut Prodigy cosplay, which she recognized immediately. She stole my coffee cup. I went back and had her sign because supporting less famous talent is very important
Every. single. one. of them asked or made conversation about my name
