You and your friend attended a kids' volleyball tryout that's currently being held in Miyagi prefecture. With great interest in volleyball, you two decided to try out as well. As expected, many kids were also going for the tryout as they were scattered on the court.
A whistle was heard all over the room as the coach entered the room. "Welcome kids! It looks like a lot of children here are going to be volleyball pros when they grow up?" He asked, and a lot of kids answered 'yes'.
"Wonderful! Now, let me introduce myself. My name is Takahashi Sanji and this is Yumemite Hotaru, and we are your coaches. But before we start, let us do an attendance."
As the two coaches do an attendance, you heard two boys talking loudly about a certain alien cartoon that has been very popular lately. "Iwa-chan! Did you watch the latest episode yesterday?! The boss fight was so cool!" A certain dark brown hair boy said to 'Iwa-chan' while having visible sparkles around his aura.
"Of course I did. You're going to annoy me if I didn't." A boy with dark, spiked-up hair replied. "So mean, Iwa-chan!" The former said.
"Well he's cheery and an alien enthusiast..." You muttered and your friend giggled at your remark.
"L/n Y/n!" The coach called out for your name. "Here!" You replied.
"Oikawa Tooru!"
"Here coach!" The 'cheery' boy you described replied. 'Oh, so his name is Oikawa Tooru...' You thought.
"Iwaizumi Hajime!"
"Here!" The dark, spiked-up hair that made a snarky reply earlier to Oikawa replied.
'No wonder his nickname is like that...'
After the attendance, you were paired with 5 different girls as your friend is on the sidelines, waiting for their turn. You stretched for a good 5 minutes before the coach whistles. Your eyes immediately diverted to the boy named, Oikawa, whom you caught staring at you. You raised an eyebrow and he looked away. You just shrugged and prepared to receive once the ball was served from the other side of the net.
As expected, the ball went in your direction and you perfectly received it. Your posture was commended by the coaches as they write down something on their clipboard. As the ball went to the setter of your team, she sets it to another player and they managed to land in a perfect spike but it was received by the other team.
They tossed it to the other side of the net so the libero of your team received it perfectly before letting the ball go outside of the boundaries. It went to the setter again, 'Nice receive...' you thought. This time, she called for your name to spike to the other side of the court. You jumped and position your arm back before hitting the ball gracefully with your hands. You thought the other team will receive it but you were wrong. The ball touched the arm of the opponent but since it was a strong spike, she couldn't receive it perfectly.
The referee whistled, signifying that your team got a point. The kids from the sidelines, including Oikawa, Iwaizumi, and your friend, let out a loud "Wow!" and began to applaud for your flawless spike. Your teammates cheered, letting out praises and claps. "That was amazing, Y/n! Can you do it again?" The temporary captain of your team asked and you nodded. "Yes, of course! Thank you!"
Unbeknownst to you, Oikawa let out a loud gasp as his eyes twinkled at the sight of you. "Did you see that, Iwa-chan?! She hit the ball so perfectly! She's amazing!" Oikawa yelled and Iwaizumi just smacked him in the head. "Dummy! Don't shout!" "That hurts Iwa-chan!"
After the game with your team won the 2 matches, you approached your friend and they squealed, congratulating your excellent performance in volleyball. "Congrats! You were amazing, Y/n!" You just chuckled. "Thank you, F/n."
You felt someone tap on your shoulder and it was none other than Oikawa and his friend, Iwaizumi. "Hello, Y/n-chan!" He greeted you happily.
"Oh hello, Oikawa-san right?" He nodded. "You were amazing and your spikes were incredible!" He complimented, making you stunned and a little blush appeared on your cheeks as you received the praise. "Thank you, Oikawa-san."
"Ah, there's no need to put '-san'. We're friends now! By the way, this is my best friend, Iwaizumi! I call him Iwa-chan for short though." You and your friend nodded. "This is my friend, Y/f/n."
After a while, Oikawa suddenly went silent and looked down, the three of you noticing his sudden change of behavior. "Oikawa?" Iwaizumi called.
He then looked up, grabbed your hand (gently), and had sparkles in his eyes as he stared at you. "Please marry me, Y/n-chan!"
You and Iwaizumi were shocked as your friend just laughed behind you. "E-Eh?" You stuttered. Iwaizumi then bonked him in the end, making Oikawa let go of your hand and hold the painful spot on his head. "Ow, Iwa-chan!!"
"Stupid! Why the heck are you asking that kind of question to Y/n?! You weirdo!" Oikawa just whimpered in pain and you merely chuckled. "Thank you, Oikawa, but I have to refuse." You said with a smile on your face.
Oikawa immediately got heartbroken and stood up on his feet. He clenched his fist in front of you and a determined look was planted on his face. "I'm very heartbroken right now, Y/n-chan! But we'll get married in the future! I just know it!" He said with confidence, and you were sure that he was weird.
Aaand another smack landed on his head. "Do you even know what marriage is?! Oikawa, you dumbass!" You just smiled at their interactions before leaving the conversation (swiftly) to go to your friend.
Now in 3rd year of high school at Aoba Johsai High School, you were about to graduate along with Oikawa and his friends. When he first heard that you also enrolled in Seijoh, he was thrilled more than anyone. Oikawa's love for you never died even if you rejected his proposal 3 times in childhood, junior high, and the 1st year of high school in Seijoh, his feelings for you only grew stronger. He knows the fact that he's popular with the ladies but that never fazed him. His heart is for you and only you.
As the principal called your name for graduating with top 1 in your class, Oikawa made sure to clap very loudly (because he wants to and possibly for you to notice him) than the rest of the class. The principal also gave you a certificate of recognition for being an outstanding student in Seijoh.
As you went down from the stage and return from your seat, Oikawa was called for being the Student-Athlete of the Year as his performance in volleyball is greatly known in the school and the Miyagi Prefecture. You smiled as he went to the stage to receive his medal but you rolled your eyes jokingly when he threw a wink in your direction. He just chuckled and will deal with your sassiness later.
When the graduation ceremony ended, you were instantly greeted by Y/f/n, who captured you in a tight hug. "I'm so proud of you! Look at you graduating top 1 in the class!" Y/f/n graduated a month early than you as they were studying at Shiratorizawa Academy. Your parents also greeted you with a hug and congratulated you. "There's our girl! Congrats sweetheart!"
You beamed a smile at them. "Thank you so much, you guys! Honestly, the finals had me all nervous because I was so worried that I'll fail!"
Your friend and your parents just chuckled. "Well, it IS the finals after all. Who wouldn't be nervous?" Your father commented and you giggled.
You felt arms wrap around your small figure and you instantly recognized the fresh male perfume. "Tooru-kun?"
"Congrats, Y/n-chan! You deserve for being the top 1 in class!" You turned around and he pulled away. You smiled at jim, "Thank you, Tooru-kun. You also deserve the award for being Student-Athlete of the Year. I believe it's all thanks to your hard work as one of the most famous setters in Japan."
Oikawa felt himself blush at the compliment. "Ah, t-thank you..." He said and rubbed his nape.
"Oh? Is he your boyfriend, sweetheart?" Your mother asked and you reddened at the word. "M-Mom?!"
"Hmm, he looks handsome and kind. I approve of it." Your father nodded in acknowledgment as his arms were crossed in front of him. "Dad?!" You cried out and felt yourself hot as a chili.
Oikawa was blushing as well but cleared his throat. "I will be if she will say yes to my proposal."
Your mother's eyes widened and one of your father's eyebrows were raised. "Proposal?" Your father repeated. "Oh no." Your friend commented.
"A-Ah nothing! He's just joking, Dad!" You then turned around and smacked Oikawa on the head. "Must you bring that up to my parents?!"
"That hurts, Y/n-chan..." He said as he held his head. "But!" He then stood up straight. "I must have the confidence to ask for your parents' blessing in the future so I'm practicing now!"
"Oikawa Tooru, you dumb-"
You were about to smack him again when your mother realized that it was THE Oikawa Tooru standing in front of you. "O-Oikawa? Is that really you? My, have you grown!" Oikawa chuckled. "Well, I'm all grown now, Auntie."
"Ah, I knew your face is familiar! I've seen you on the sports channel every time volleyball season is on and I must say, your sets are really unpredictable. You sure do know how to keep the team's aura and atmosphere high." Your father showered him in praise and Oikawa went bashful. "Thank you, uncle."
"Well, we'll be waiting in the car. Don't take too long now, Y/n!" Your mother said and you nodded. As they leave you and Oikawa alone, he nudged your shoulder. "Guess I'm on their good side now huh? Maybe they'll finally approve of my proposal to you. So," He then revealed a bouquet of roses behind his back. "Please marry me, Y/n-chan!"
You gasped and pinched him on the arm. "Shut it, crappykawa." He pouted. "But," You started as you accepted the roses from his hands. "thank you. I'll take you on the offer of a date though."
Oikawa's eyes went wide. "R-Really? You're not joking?" You smiled at him and gave him a peck on the cheek, leaving him dumbfounded. "This week, Friday. 7 pm. Don't stand me up, dummy." You said and walked away with the roses in your hands.
Oikawa clenched his fist in the air before letting a loud, "Yes!!" And he skips happily back to his friends, who were watching the whole scene unfold and smacked him on the back. Though you rejected his proposal for the 4th time, at least you accepted his offer on taking you out for a date.
Now at 25, you and Oikawa have been dating for 8 years straight. Even though he had moved to Argentina to continue pursuing his volleyball career and studies there, not once, did your love for him fade even the slightest bit. Of course, it can get lonely most of the time due to the different time zones of the two countries but he made sure that he'll video call you two to three times per week.
He'd tell you all different stories about his life in Argentina but mostly about volleyball and how he is improving more than his high school self. He never fails to greet you exactly at midnight in the Japan time zone whenever it's your birthday or your anniversary. Of course, you do the same to him too.
Today is your 8th anniversary as a couple, but you knew that you would be celebrating it via video call again. You know the reason, but you've secretly been checking out some flights to fly over to Argentina just to surprise your boyfriend. You know that he's been busy for the past few days due to volleyball but he never used that as an excuse to not spend time with you.
"Happy 8th anniversary, mi amor." He greeted you with a smile at exactly midnight in the Japan time zone. You smiled back at him but not with your usual smile, "Happy 8th anniversary as well, amor."
He noticed your mood very quickly and offered you a sad smile. "I'm sorry if we're celebrating our anniversary via video call again baby. Ah, I don't know how many times I've apologized to you since I first moved to Argentina. You're probably sick of hearing it so many times."
You just chuckled. "It's okay love. I just hope that you're in my arms right now." He smiled at your wish, unbeknownst to you that he prepared a surprise for you.
Then you realized something, "Huh? How come it's dark there in Argentina? Isn't it like, noon there? Plus, why is it so quiet?" You bombarded him with questions and he just chuckled at you. You then heard a knock at your door. "Oh, someone just knocked on the door." You mumbled before standing on your two feet to walk towards the door. "I'm actually hiding from a certain person right now. Oh sh- I hear their footsteps. Shh, quiet baby." He hushed you and you had to stop laughing before giving him a nod. Suddenly, the call dropped, and you thought that the wifi where Oikawa is right now was bad so you let it be.
As you checked through the peephole, you noticed a large square present outside. You slowly opened the door and looked from left to right if there was anybody suspicious. You then walked to the box and it says, 'To: Mi amor, Y/n. From: Your beloved boyfriend <3'
You smiled at Oikawa's thoughtfulness but you were deeply confused as to why he needed to buy you so many things inside that big present box. You know that you can't carry the big damn box all by yourself so you decided to open it right then and there. As you removed the ribbons and opened the cover of the box, you were engulfed in a tight hug. You were about to scream when you caught a whiff of the strangely familiar perfume and you were shocked to see that it was no other than, Oikawa Tooru.
"Surprise baaaby!!!" He yelled and you were speechless as heck. "Did you like my surprise?! I bet you do because I'm the surprise!!"
Oikawa noticed you were so quiet and immediately felt a bit sad so he pulled away from the hug. "Are you okay, mi amor?"
You surprised him by engulfing him in a tight hug as well. You buried your head in his chest as a few tears fell from your eyes. "I miss you, I miss you so damn much." You whispered and he smiled at you before returning your hug. "I miss you more, Y/n. You have no idea that I thought of going home to Japan so many times just to see you and my family again." You looked up to see him staring at you with that genuine smile of his, and he took the opportunity to give you a sweet long kiss on the lips. Oh, how both of you missed kissing each other like this. The last time that you did, was when he left for Argentina, which was 8 years ago. The countless overthinking, small arguments on the phone, and the feeling of longing were too much to bare for the both of you, however, you two reassured each other that they are still the home that you want. The person that you want to spend time with for the rest of your lives.
As you both pulled away, he placed his forehead to yours and started at your eyes. "I love you." He whispered. "I love you too." You replied and moments later, you can feel him fidgeting a little. You pulled away with confusion planted on your face as you looked at him up and down. "Love? Are you alright?" You asked.
He sighed loudly. "Y/n, the feeling of being away from you hurts my heart so much and it tortures me every day when I was there. I know that I followed my dreams to become one of the best players in Argentina, but it still felt lonely without my number one cheerleader there beside me, to watch my games, to watch me play, and overall to see you cheering for me as I win many tournaments. I know you feel the same way so I'll ask you this,"
He then kneeled on one knee and revealed a red velvet box to you, which made you gasp as you recognized the luxurious brand. He opened the lid and there revealed an expensive-carat ring, that made you utterly speechless because it was the newest release ring. You looked at him and he was smiling at you as he tries his best not to shed tears. "Will you make me the happiest and luckiest man in the whole world and, please marry me, Y/n-chan?" He put an adorable look on his face and you chuckled at the nickname he used to call you in childhood and high school with your hands on your mouth as fresh tears of joy stream down your face. "Yes, of course, Tooru-kun." He giggled at the nickname and stand up on his feet before wearing the ring for you on your ring finger. The ring wasn't too large or too small for your finger, it was the perfect fit. It's as if Oikawa knows your ring size, well, he should though because he's your future husband and your boyfriend of 8 years.
The two of you hugged each other tightly as he kept whispering 'thank you' to you. Cheers erupted from the sides and you pulled away to see that it was Oikawa's high school friends, Iwaizumi, Hanamaki, and Matsukawa cheering. They rushed towards the two of you and gave you a group hug before pulling away. When they did, they ruffled Oikawa's hair and smacked his back. "Congrats man! We know that she'll say yes!" Said Matsukawa.
"Yeah! We can tell that you two missed each other so much that you kissed for like what? 15 seconds? Surprised both of you didn't insert tongue." Hanamaki said, earning a punch from Oikawa while the both of you had a blush on your face. "Shut it!"
"Kinda surprised that Y/n didn't reject your proposal this time. She's been rejecting your proposal since childhood." Iwaizumi teased, erupting laughter from the two while Oikawa was offended. "Oh, my go- shut up, Iwa-chan! She accepted my proposal now so move on!" Oikawa whined.
You snickered. "Yeah, as if he had any rings to show me before." The three burst in laughter at your response, while Oikawa just whined even more. "Mi amor, even you?!"
What you didn't know is that Oikawa did have rings for you, paper rings. But he felt like he should just show it to you on your wedding day so he'll just have to wait.
After a few hours of celebrating, you were waiting for your fiancé as you kept staring in awe at your ring. When he came out of the bathroom, looking fresh and ready to go to bed, he saw you admiring the ring. He smiled and came to the bed before kissing you on your temple. "Do you love it?"
You hummed in response. "Yes love but..."
"But?" He repeated. "How much did it cost you?" Oikawa didn't say anything. "I know this is the newest released ring from the luxurious brand but I'm still curious."
He just giggled in response, which put together you raise your eyebrow at him. "Tooru?"
"You don't have to worry about the price baabyyy~" He singsongs as he cuddled you. "Oikawa Tooru! I swea-" "Shh baby."
Oikawa knows that he's rich and has a lot of money but he also knows that you don't like it when he spends more than millions for you buuuuut you're his future wife after all.
Present time...
Now at 29, you and Oikawa have been married for 4 years and currently have 2 twin children who are 3 years old. The two looked exactly like their father, inheriting his hair and hair color, skin, and smile while they inherited your eyes and nose. When they were 2, Oikawa remembers you saying that "I did not go through 9 months of torture just for them to come out looking like the replica version of their father" (jokingly).
Oikawa is waiting for you to come out of the room because you and your him have a date tonight. Iwaizumi, Hanamaki, and Matsukawa will be babysitting your children for the night while the two of you enjoy your alone time together so as Oikawa's most trusted friends, they volunteered to do it.
When you slowly come out of the room wearing the dress that he bought for you, Oikawa fell in love all over again. It's just like back in childhood when he saw you spike for the first time. He fell in love the moment you first played volleyball, and now he continuously fell in love all over again when you showed him your vulnerable side, when you smiled at him for the first time, when you two went on a date for the first time, when you finally accepted his proposal when you two kissed at the wedding altar as husband and wife and many more. Now, he feels like his childhood self again.
"What do you think?" You asked him, feeling a little shy under his starstruck gaze. "You look so beautiful, amor..." He whispered but loud enough for you to hear before extending a hand. A blush crept to your cheeks and you shyly but gladly took his hand.
A loud gasp was heard and you looked to the side to see that it was your twin boys, staring at you with their mouths agape. "Mom! You look so pretty!!" They said in unison and rushed towards you. You kneeled and gladly accepted their hugs. "Thank you my loves! You two look very cute with your blue pajamas as well!"
A knock was heard from the front door and you stood up on your own feet. "Well, that's your uncles. Let's greet them, shall we?" You said and they excitedly nodded before rushing ahead the two of you.
You noticed that your husband was very quiet so you diverted your attention to him and he was still staring at you in awe. "Penny for your thoughts, Mr. Oikawa?" You teased him and he snapped out of his trance. "It's nothing, Mrs. Oikawa." He said and grabbed your hands before putting it on his shoulders. "But I must say, you're very ravishing and charming tonight. I might not hold back from kissing you right now." He whispered and pucked his lips before lowering his head to kiss you, but you abruptly stopped him by putting a finger on his lips. He pouted, making you giggle. "Maybe later."
"Haahh," He placed his head on your shoulder. "Please marry me, Y/n-chan." He said and you laughed. "We're already married, dumbass."
"Oh.." Was all he said. "Then let's get married again."
You shook your head and lifted his head from your shoulder before placing a peck on his lips. "You're so cute, Mr. Oikawa Tooru."
"And you're such a tease but I still love you, Mrs. Oikawa Y/n."

Being Inarizaki’s Manager
🚑Miss Manager Breaks Her Hand🚑
Tumblr media
Inarizaki x female! manager (she/her)
Warnings: mention of broken hand, pain relievers mentioned, crying, angst(?) to fluff
A/N: this idea stemmed from the 2k headcanon celebration and I loved it so much that I thought I’d indulge myself 💅
This team ranges from “protective dad squad” to “problem children”
It’s giving season 4 Seijoh x Shiratorizawa crossover
Like I’m both excited and scared for you
Now being their precious manager, you were literally worshiped on this team
The third years, Kita, Aran, Omimi and Akagi, absolutely adored you beyond all measures
You were the light of the team, the rock 🪨
The second years, Atsumu, Osamu, Suna and Ginjima, were the guardians of YN
They didn’t think anyone was good enough to breath the air of THEIR YN
And last, but certainly not least, our precious bby first year, Riseki, absolutely had the biggest crush on you
He looked up to you and worshiped every step you took
Needless to say, you were irreplaceable my dear Yn
Unfortunately “irreplaceable” does not equate to “unbreakable” as our lively Inarizaki was about to learn
Because you see, it happened so fast that absolutely nobody knew what to do
You sent the solid team that was slated to win nationals into the biggest frenzy ever
And it all started with a rouge volleyball 😌
You see, it was the end of practice and everyone was packing up the gym
Everyone except for a certain someone 👀
Now I know what you’re thinking ok? This is all Atsumus fault
It’s always Atsumu fault 🙄
And while 99.9% of the time it most definitely is, this 0.1% was not
Because it was someone else who accidentally caused the chaos
“Sumu pack it up! It’s time to go home!” Kita shouted as you picked up the remaining volleyballs
“Just a few more serves, I’m almost at my limit,” Atsumu said as you mindlessly continued your work
You were use to this, Sumu was Sumu and there wasn’t much more you could do
And by now, he had learned to avoid hitting you so you really didn’t mind
You just continued about your merry way, picking up balls and daydreaming
“Come on bro, let’s go I’m starving!” Osamu whined
“If you’d practice your serves as much as you eat, you probably wouldn’t have to worry about missing any!” Atsumu said before slamming a service ace into the opposing court
“What did ya say to me?” Osamu raged
“Oh boy,” Aran said 😐
“Knock it off you two! Let’s just finish up!” Ginjima yells
Suna 👉🏻👀 📱
Meanwhile, you are just lost in your own world, probably daydreaming of peace and quiet
“Give me that ball!” Osamu shouted as he grabbed the ball from Sumu before tossing it and slamming it into the opposite court
It looked like a good serve, a solid one even
It’s course was set to land right on the end line
Which was, coincidentally, right where you were 😃
Akagi, our star Libero, saw it first
“YN LOOK OUT!” He shouted as the rest of the team watched on horror
Thankfully, you manage to get your hand up quickly
The ball hit your hand, smack on and deflected towards the wall
A loud and almost visible sigh flooded the gym as everyone was relieved you didn’t get hit in the head
However the calmness lasted approximately .02 seconds when they heard you whine and grab your hand
“Crap Yn!” Omimi shouted as the team raced towards you
You were grabbing your hand as tears began to flow down your face
“YN I’m so freaking sorry!! I didn’t mean too!” Osamu said, coming beside you as he looked at your hand
Fun fact: a professional volleyball serve can be upwards of 120mph (193kph)
Osamu isn’t a professional but it’s safe to say he can probably reach at least 80mph (128kph)
Needless to say, there’s a lot of force behind a serve
I googled all the facts 💅
N E WAYS
You look at Osamu, tears in your eyes as you respond, “it’s ok Samu, I should have been watching.”
Meanwhile, your hand is beginning to swell and it hurts so bad
“Let me see it YN,” the coach says as he studies your hand
“Is she going to be ok?” Ginjima asks as Coach looks at you
“Riseki, grab an ice pack quick, Kita and Aran, take YN to the nurse now!” Coach barks as the team goes to work
Suna comes next to you, holding your hand gently as Riseski hands him the ice pack
You hiss and whimper as the ice hits your skin
Osamu and Atsumu stand to the side, visibly upset that their arguing lead to you getting hurt
“Come on Yn,” Kita said, putting his hand on your lower back as Aran took over for Suna, bracing your hand
Atsumu and Osamu wordlessly began cleaning up the gym with the rest of the team, feeling awful about what happened
“Hey!” Omimi says as the twins look at him, “it was an accident. She’ll be ok.”
Meanwhile, in the nurses office…
“We need to call your parents Yn, you need to go to the hospital,” she says as you look at her
“She’s ok isn’t she?” Aran says, concerned
The nurse shakes her head, “I think her hand is broken, she needs x-rays to confirm.”
Kita and Aran’s eyes widen as you hold your hand, crying a little as the pain continues to sink in
The team finishes cleaning up and they all run to the nurses office as they see you sitting outside with Aran
“Hey everything’s all right?” Atsumu says as you look at him
“The nurse thinks she broke her hand, her parent is coming to take her to the hospital,” Kita says as he walks out from the nurses office
Osamu immediately deflated, he feels absolutely awful about what happened
He realistically knows it wasn’t really his fault, accidents happen, especially on the court
You notice him looking sad as you stand up and walk to him
“Samu it’s ok! I’ll be ok I promise,” You say, hugging him as he hugs you back
It’s a sweet moment that is unfortunately interrupted 😐
“What about me YN?” I’m sad too!” Atsumu whines as Osamu and the team glare at him
You smile and giggle, hugging Atsumu and then the rest of the team
Your parent arrives and you are taken to the hospital
The guys all go home, worried about what happened to you
They all feel awful, knowing how much pain you are in
Suddenly, their phones all ring, the group chat lighting up as they all simultaneously answer
“YN are you ok?” Osamu shouts from his phone screen
Talk about turn of events 😅
“Will you shut up and let her speak?” Ginjima says
“How about everyone shuts up and let’s YN talk!” Kita finally says as you smile from the hospital room
“Hey guys, I’m ok! My hand is broken but I got a cast on it!” You say, showing the team your favorite color, now wrapped around your hand
They all go silent, feeling awful
Osamu feels the worst as he looks at your wrapped hand
“Damn Yn, I’m so sorry!” He says again, his face expressing immense concern
You laugh, an odd gesture given the situation, “Samu it’s ok! The doctor was super impressed that I managed to deflect a serve like that! It’s not a bad break and they said within a few weeks I should be healed!”
“Are you able to do volleyball practice YN?” Akagi asks as you nods
“No physical activity for a while but I can still write and do everything I normally do! So it means I get out of gym class!” You say, excited you won’t have to participate in running for a while
“Did they give you something for the pain?” Aran asks as you nod
“Yeah they gave me some good pain relievers but I won’t be in school the rest of this week,” you say as the boys all deflate
“I’m really really sorry Yn! I feel awful!” Osamu says again
“Samu it’s ok! It was an accident! I should have been paying more attention anyways!” You say as you smile
Thankfully, a certain someone knows just how to lighten the mood 😏
“Really if you think about it, it’s all Sumu’s fault,” Suna chimes in as Atsumu takes over Osamus phone
“What the hell Suna?!? How is it my fault??” He shouts
“Well if you wouldn’t have kept serving, this never would have happened!” Ginjima adds
“It’s true,” Riseki says
“Atsumu you are going to run so many laps tomorrow!” Kita says as
Atsumu 👉🏻👁️💧👄💧👁️
They are all just glad their precious manager is ok 🥰

So I’m thinking about a world where instead of humans evolving from Monkies, it’s Avians who evolved from birds, with monkies (and a large portion of mammals) being extinct following the meteor, leaving bird to evolve into avians…
@cats-and-confusion @tabsters @sagehyperfixates @the-cheese-slut y’all are my world building besties… you’ll like this I hope :>>
Person/people coming from old French Personé meaning human being becomes caelibro/caelibren (pronounced kuh-Lee-bro/kuh-lee-bren) coming from Latin “caelum liberos” meaning children of the sky
Human coming from Middle French meaning “of belonging to man” becomes Avian, coming from Latin “Avis” plus Ian
Avians evolved largely from birds of prey such as eagles, falcons, kestrels, and others. Smaller birds were unable to evolve alongside avians and thus stay the same, similar to how humans exist but monkies still do. On average Avians are much smaller than humans, the tallest avian ever recorded being about 5’6, the average for female Avians being 3’5, and males being 4” flat. Avians share similar minds to humans

Avians can be many other feather colors, feather dye is common in the semi-modern Avian society, working vie vibrant plants being crushed and molded into a paste and applied to feathers and let to set, a similar process to dying hair. Wings in avians are difficult to clean as the size of them prevents cleaning being easy, avians in family units often helping to pick out debris, it being more socially accepted due to the shared difficulty in solitary cleaning. When showers are industrialized it becomes more uncommon for friends or family to help in wing cleaning, the now easier cleaning making it to where it’s easier for solitary avians to clean alone.
Avians to a neurological level are more social than humans, although there is variety and even avians who prefer being alone, Avians on average are quite a bit more connected than humans due to bird instincts from billions of years ago, bird-like instincts still being residual in recent times, such as being more clingy during tense situations, more prone to adoption if an avian child (also known as a fledgling) is left unaccounted for, and an adult finding it. Avian instincts also force a rush of seratonin during wing cleaning to prevent pain receptors from going off due to wings being highly sensitive, having more nerves and sensitivity than the rest of the body, which is usually quite small to hopefully allow flight.
Although disappointing, Avian wings have grown to be smaller over the years and now flight is impossible, although gliding is still a highly prevalent social activity due to how fast avians can go, genetic mutations can also allow larger wings to allow flight, it being a common beauty standard to have large wings and even a small ability to fly

Karasuno as element benders
This is inspired by Avatar: The Last Airbender since I’ve been binge watching all the seasons.... hehe
Daichi would be an earthbender hands down. The way he grounds himself and the strength he has to pull together to ensure the team is positioned to win, on top of always sticking his stance, Daichi would make an excellent earthbender. In fact, he could probably be apart of an earthbending army and rank quite high in his position if he wanted to.  He strikes as someone who is talented in earth shielding and rock bullets.
Sugawara would be a waterbender. In some ways, his nuturing and caring prescence gives me the impression that he and Katara would get along well. Though he might not posess any healing abilities, he has an artistic sense to create beautiful ice scuptures with his skills and tends to make quite the water bending instructor. However, he would specialize in healing, making sure that the resources of the tribe are fully equipped and physically healed for a battle or just day to day life.
Asahi would be a firebender as suprising as that may sound. He would be a late bloomer however, as some firebenders tend to bend with anger and fear, Asahi learned to bend by being provoked with protection. With a gentle, free flowing background, his flames spread in both warmth and burning sensations. With that, he’s able to redirect lightning, but not so much control it as others can. However, he has great skill in fire vortex attacks and combustion bending. Even he is sometimes shocked at how strong he actually is.
Nishinoya would be an earthbender. Like Daichi, his stands his ground and rooted to both himself and his surroundings. As the libero has to stay close to the ground and be ready to take up the most outragous saves, Nishinoya would make such a strong and sharp earthbender. He would probably learn his bending from the swamp and master it in the city (both ways would work). He’s also best friends with the cabbage man. Like for SURE.
Kinoshita would be an firebender. Specifically, he would have a knack for lighting strikes and have the ability to control the movements of electricity at the tips of his fingers. Though this does not occur often, when he does gain control, I think Kinoshita brings a lot of surprises in the battlefield. Like fire, he fumes bursts of energy where he can, but also remains his composure by heat control.
Narita would be a airbender. His movements are evasive yet free-flowing like air. I think he carries a particular sense calmness in his movements and poses a very meditative state when he is not attacking. He waits for the right moment, and builds up heaps of air to turn into energy and momentum before releasing. His intention is never quite to kill or harm, but rather create counter attacks that make the opponent imbalanced or miss their shots. He also has the ability to reach the spirit world, and occasionally goes back there to visit his spirit friends.
Ennoshita would be an earthbender. Although he has very air-like tendencies, he actually is able to navigate the air well through his earth levitation. Intuitive to the frequencies of the earth, he is able to curate mini earthquakes around the area, throwing the opponents off balance but also manipulate the status of the ground to be earth sinking as well. This way, enemies never get ear Ennoshita. The way he talks and carries himself is very much straight-forward and loyal, much like earth signs in general.
Kiyoko would be a waterbender. Kiyoko shows great versatility and flexibility in the way she carries herself. Just as much as she is steadfast and sharp minded, I think she would have great skill in deflecting in her attacks and maneuver focus on controls. She could ice creep a lot of people into freezing themselves into ice sculptures and create water brackets that could slice through. However, she doesn’t fight unless she has to. She much prefers to help Sugawara with healing. She may not realize it yet, but she also has a special skill in blood bending. Although, I can’t think of a case where she would need to use that as well.
Tanaka would be a lavabender. Unlike Asahi and Nishinoya, Takana’s quickwitted and explosive personality would lead him into both a grounding and heated bending technique. Tremendously strong--yes, but also just as firm in his attacks and thinking. His strength is rooted deep into the magmas of the earth but striking is haste and urgent like a wildfire.
Hinata would be a firebender. He’s a spitfire waiting to burst, and you even see it from his name, which means “sunny place”. Though he is quick to burst, that doesn’t mean his attacks strike as weak. He is certainly a fireball with lots of energy and has no problem creating large fumes of fire to defend from the enemy. He is youthful and young, much like the fire he creates. That also includes the occasional burns he gets from messing around as well. Hehe
Kageyama would be a waterbender. Much like water, his water flows controlled, stilled, yet thick. He is very conscious of how he formulates water in its three different bases (gas, solid, and liquids), therefore you might find him constantly practicing those techniques and perfecting it. You might find him often water whipping Hinata in the butt too~. However, I think his most prominent attacks are with ice, as it comes off to be physically striking and sharp, much like his mind. He is constantly analyzing how to manipulate water into multiple forms during battles.
Tsukishima would also be a waterbender. Like the series, I think Tsukishima would have ancestry with the Moon spirit in some form, and therefore, root from the Northern Water Tribe. Though he would be skilled in water attacks, I don’t think that would be where his greatest strength lies. I actually see him on the defensive lines if creating tidal waves, ice prisons, and steam to distract intruders. I certainly see him as a scholar, so I think occasionally he would practice healing on the low.
Yamaguchi would be an earthbender/metal bender. I definitely got it from his name, Yama meaning Mountain. But also, much like his personality to remain strong willed and become a pillar to his team, he is capable of so much strength. He has a natural talent with seismic sense, meaning he is able to sense the smallest vibrations of earth/metal and intuitively guess the surroundings. That’s why he’s able to create defenses that are critical. He would also eventually build the skill to metal bend.
Yachi would be an airbender. I would imagine that she would rarely have to go out to fight as most airbenders are quite peaceful and prefer to stay on high grounds and live a less violent life. She capable of making air funnels and wipes, while occasionally teaching kids how to make air balls to roam around the air temples. I think she strikes as someone who has a skill in flying! You often can find her gliding in the air next to a bison with a bunch of kids (she teaches the children how to fly).

nice receive [miya atsumu x fem!reader]
Tumblr media
genre: fluff and (once again, a sad attempt at) humor
word count: 3.8k
summary: eight months into your relationship, atsumu takes you to meet his family. things don't go as planned, but of course, everything ends up alright in the end anyway. alternatively, miya atsumu adores you and his family thinks it's easy to see why.
warnings: uhhh implied sexual content at the end but it is like barely there ok
commission for @ muppetz (it wont let me tag for some reason ugh) thank you so much for commissioning me!
a/n: this ended up being way longer than the word count requested but that’s no one’s fault but my own because i dont know when to shut the FUCK up anyways i hope this one shot is enjoyable lol
content under the cut!
You literally never thought that you would ever end up in this situation.
"C'mon babe, why the long face? Ya nervous or somethin'?"
"No." You purse your lips, huffily averting your gaze from your boyfriend's smirking face.
"Ya don't needa be like that." Atsumu drapes an arm across your shoulder, pecking your forehead as a sort of reassurance. "No one could ever hate this cute face, after all." He accentuates his words by squishing your cheeks, drawing out a yelp of protest from you.
"If you keep talking like this, you're gonna jinx it, you know." Your words come out softer and more hesitant than intended, and you startled even yourself at how utterly anxious you sound.
"Yer gonna be fine. Trust me, I wouldn’t take just any random girl to meet my folks, and they’re well aware of that." Atsumu ruffles your hair.
"I just... I hope they're not..." You pause for a moment, trying to find the right word. "...Disappointed?" You grimace when your boyfriend suddenly throws his head back in such voracious laughter, that you swear you saw a few hysterical tears.
"Are ya jokin'?" he all but wheezes. "Yer the libero for the national volleyball team, for God's sake. If anythin', I'd be the disappointment here."
"'Tsumu — " you start, but he interrupts you by pulling you in for a comforting hug.
"Don't worry yer pretty head anymore, got it?" he murmurs into your ear. "Yer wonderful, and I couldn't be luckier to have ya. My parents are gonna love ya. Honest."
A small smile tugs at your lips as you reach around his back to hug him back. "I hope so."
A year ago, if someone had told you that you would end up having Miya Atsumu introduce you to his family as his girlfriend, you would've laughed until your ass fell off and your stomach ached like no tomorrow.
You had been absolutely overjoyed when you were chosen for the women's national volleyball team, and you were so eager to start playing with your new teammates that you had decided to attend the national team's training camp without hesitation despite your recent knee injury at the time. However, you completely overlooked the fact that you would be working with the men's team as well, which would've been completely fine... if not for Miya Atsumu.
When you first met Atsumu, he was the cocky, annoying little shit of a setter for the Japanese men's national volleyball team, someone who you were stuck training with for the next two weeks.
You still remember the first words he ever spoke to you.
"The hell are ya doin' there, lil libero? If yer not gonna be able to save the easiest ones, then ya might as well sub out."
You also remember the first thought you had about him.
'Prick.'
And the first words you spoke to him.
"Can't you look at this — " You had gestured angrily to the knee brace supporting you. "And take a fucking hint, or what?"
He had sent some unapologetic, biting words right back at you and that marked the beginning of the time you have had the utmost pleasure of knowing Miya Atsumu. The two of you had bickered rather relentlessly (not too unlike literal children, despite the both of you being well into your twenties) throughout the rest of the camp, and by the end, for some unknown reason through some unknown method, he ended up with your number.
He started texting you constantly, and as much as you tried to convince your foolish self that he was just a nuisance, you found yourself responding to his messages like an idiot anyway. Throughout the next few months, you learned that Atsumu was far more than just his overly confident demeanor; he's genuinely kind-hearted, down-to-earth, and actually kinda hilarious. And eventually — neither of you quite knew how — the two of you were staring across a table at each other in a fancy restaurant as if daring the other to blink and lose an unspoken game, on a first date that neither of you thought would go as well as it did.
A little over eight months into your happy and committed relationship, Atsumu suggested that the two of you go to his hometown in Hyogo for a weekend to visit his family. You had immediately agreed with his idea, excited to meet his parents and twin brother in person, but now that he's leading you out of your shared hotel room to go do just that, your stomach's knotting uncomfortably.
Atsumu's been nothing but supportive and comforting ever since you started showing that you're nervous to meet his family. He was always happy to provide a never-ending flow of cheesy words and warm hugs, but you're genuinely afraid of embarrassing yourself. You want to impress his family and not have them see you as undeserving of their son, who you truly care for from the bottom of your heart. Atsumu is your first long-term boyfriend, and you would jump off your roof if you managed to mess anything up during the visit to his folks.
The taxi ride to Atsumu's childhood home doesn't do much to soothe your nerves either, with you fiddling with your fingers the entire way through while Atsumu makes small talk with the driver. As the cab pulls up to the address that your boyfriend had provided earlier, you instinctively clench your fists so hard that you think you might bleed.
A look of alarm crosses Atsumu's face as he notices that you're still just as anxious as you were when you left the hotel earlier. He thought that the ride to his parents' house would give you some time to cool down, but that had clearly not been the case. His eyebrows furrow in concern as he reaches over to grab one of your hands in his, giving you a comforting squeeze.
"Just breathe, darlin'." He runs his thumb over the shallow nail marks embedded in your skin. "If it means anything to ya, my mom's a huge fan of yers. For real. I didn't tell ya this before, but she's especially excited to meet ya. Keeps yappin' to me askin' how I pulled ya." You flush.
"R-Really?" you stammer, wide-eyed.
"Really. Who wouldn't be a fan yers?" Atsumu grins, pecking your nose. "See, ya got nothin' to be worried about. Just chill out and be yerself, 'kay?" You nod, some of the tension releasing from your shoulders as Atsumu leads you out of the cab, hand still clutching yours.
You're feeling a little better now, though your thoughts are still running through your head at the pace of a mile a minute as you watch Atsumu pay the taxi driver and thank him for the ride. Atsumu's mother is my fan? Your ears start to heat up. I hope I can somehow live up to her expectations of me…
“Ma! We’re here!” Atsumu shouts at the top of lungs approximately one second after simultaneously ringing the doorbell and obnoxiously pounding on the door.
“Comin’, comin’, ya brat!” A feminine, yet strong voice hollers in return. You freeze on the spot, your mind going blank once again. It’s happening. It’s finally happening.
The door aggressively swings open, revealing a middle-aged woman wearing a pink apron and carrying a wooden spatula in her hand. Her dark hair is pulled into a bun away from her face and her eyes, the same chocolate brown as Atsumu’s, are gleaming with annoyance. She briefly glares at Atsumu for his rowdy entrance before her gaze catches onto you, and her entire face lights up with excitement.
“(L/N) (Y/N)! It’s so nice to finally meet you!”
“M-Mrs. Miya,” you stammer out, trying your best to smile but you’re sure it looked more like a wince. “It’s good to m-meet you t-too.”
"Aw, hey now. What happened to my feisty girl? It's not like ya to be so lame.” Atsumu lays his forearm on your head, effectively using you as an armrest. You jerk away, scowling.
“Shut the hell up, asshat,” you snap without thinking. About half a second later, regret slams into your body like a truck. Oh, shit. I just called my boyfriend an asshat in front of his mother. You were about to run off into the streets in utter embarrassment if not for Mrs. Miya letting out a hearty laugh way too similar to her son’s and linking arms with you.
“No need to look so scared, dear. I don’t bite. And it’s good to see that yer willin’ to put this brat in his place.”
“Ma!” Atsumu whines, pouting petulantly.
“Yer really losin’ out with him though, y’know,” Mrs. Miya whispers to you as she leads you into the house by your arm. “I’ve got another son; Atsumu’s twin. Osamu’s quite well-behaved. If yer just likin’ the looks, he would be the better option.” You can tell she’s joking by the merry twinkle in her eyes, but instead of humoring her you end up shaking your head with a quiet chuckle.
“I think Atsumu’s perfectly good for me.” The two of you pause to watch Atsumu practically sprint into the kitchen, and a few moments later there’s an agitated yell as proof that he was on his way to annoy his brother. You smile. “He makes me really happy, Mrs. Miya. You raised him well.”
“Aren’t ya just the sweetest thing?” Mrs. Miya coos at you, pinching your left cheek. “And so pretty too. I swear ya could probably clobber my brat at volleyball as well. You and yer teammate… ah, Miss Amanai? The two of you always caught my eye while I watched yer matches. Make sure ya let her know.”
You blush a little and thank her, making a mental note to tell Kanoka that. She’d probably find it extremely amusing, especially since she was the one who had given Atsumu your number in the first place (which, as you had found out months later, was because he had practically groveled at her feet multiple times. Dumbass.)
“Come meet my husband, (Y/N).” Mrs. Miya leads you into the living room, where an older, balding man with rimmed glasses is quietly flipping through a book. He gives a start upon hearing your entrance, clearing his throat and sitting up straight.
“Ah, hello!” Mr. Miya greets you. “I’ve heard a lot about you! From both Atsumu and the missus.”
“Nice to meet you, Mr. Miya.” You nod once in a respectful manner.
“It’s about time that he settled down with a nice girl. Make sure ya keep him in line though, got it, missy?”
“Of course I w — “ you start, but Mrs. Miya is already dragging you towards the kitchen. You smile apologetically at Mr. Miya, and he just laughs and waves.
“Osamu’s makin’ dinner right now. He is such a hardworkin’ and dedicated boy. Both of them are, really,” she rambles. “But Osamu sure can cook a mean meal. He and his twin always used to fight over who’s the better cook. But I betcha Atsumu hasn’t touched the stove since he left for university years ago.”
You debate telling her that Atsumu had made quite a decent meal for the two of you just last week to celebrate your eight-month anniversary (which you hadn’t even known he remembered), but before you can formulate the right words in your head you’re suddenly shoved in the path of an unfamiliar man. Well, not really unfamiliar. He has the same face as the boyfriend who you see every day, after all.
Miya Osamu is (as expected) the literal carbon copy of Atsumu; same strong eyebrows, same hooded eyes, same angular jawline. The only thing that easily sets them apart is his black, ruffled mess of hair in stark contrast with your boyfriend’s bleached blonde.
Mrs. Miya pulls Atsumu away from the two of you, demanding that he help her with some mundane task, leaving you and Osamu by yourselves in the kitchen.
An easy smile graces his lips as he sticks out his hand. “Hey, I’m Osamu. Honored to finally meet the famous (L/N) (Y/N).” You smile back, gripping his hand firmly and shaking.
“And I’m honored to meet the famous ‘Samu.” At your words, Osamu bursts out laughing.
“Man, I don’t really let a lot of people call me that, y’know? But if yer gonna be part of the family, you could be an exception.”
“F-Family?” You pause, your sudden confidence dissipating as fast as it had come.
“Naw, no pressure. Just sayin’.” Osamu casually continues with his task of shaping onigiri. “I can tell he really likes ya.” You raise your eyebrows in curiosity without entirely meaning to. “I mean, we’re twins, it’s like a sixth sense. And also he never shuts up about ya when we text or call.”
“I hope you’re hearing all good things?” you quip jokingly.
“Oh, for sure. If I didn’t know who you were I’d think that he’s talkin’ about the reincarnation of a goddess with the way he talks.”
“Seriously?” You snort, and Osamu just laughs.
“So I’d like to ask ya the favor of continuin’ to take care of him. Guy’s just a huge ass baby. I can obviously see that yer good for him, though. He wouldn’t have stayed for so long if he wasn’t serious.”
The two of you briefly glance at Atsumu helping his mother set the table. They’re currently debating over whether Atsumu should go back to his natural hair color and “Stop makin’ yer hair look like fuckin’ straw!”
“He is a huge ass baby,” you start seriously, causing Osamu to smirk. “But he’s an honest and good person, so I’m not too bothered. I’ll take care of him, promise.”
“Thanks.” Osamu sighs, glancing rather fondly in his brother’s direction. “He’s an asshole, but at least he’s a redeemable asshole. I’m glad he’s finally got someone around to take care of him. Makes us all feel a little more relieved since he’s away from home.”
You suddenly feel warm inside.
Atsumu had been right; you truly didn’t have anything to be afraid of. The Miyas have been nothing but kind and welcoming so far, and they even seem to already have a positive opinion of you.
“Can ya help me carry these to the table?” Osamu holds out a plate of freshly-made onigiri.
“Ah, sure!” you accept hurriedly, taking the plate from him with careful hands. You take slow, calculated steps towards the dining room; the last thing you want is to accidentally drop any of the food.
Atsumu and his parents are already waiting in the dining room, and they all look up at you expectantly as you approach them with the onigiri plate in hand.
“Why, thank you, dear!” Mrs. Miya chirps. “Helpin’ Osamu out! How sweet of ya — “
She’s cut off as disaster strikes.
You trip on your last step to the table, causing a single onigiri to tumble off the plate and towards the floor. Your mouth drops open wide as you practically slam the plate down on the table and in practical slow-motion, watch the onigiri plummet down, down, down —
Then you dive.
You dive towards the floor, in the same manner as you do when you’re digging for a volleyball.
And you catch the rice ball in one hand, laying flat on your stomach. You have a moment of mental celebration; yes, you caught the onigiri! Then you realize that you look like a fucking idiot as you lay face down with one hand extended and clutching a rice ball like it’s your lifeline.
There’s a few seconds of agonizing silence.
You want the earth to swallow you whole.
There’s no way that you could ever show your face in front of Atsumu’s family or even Atsumu himself now; God you’ve never been more embarrassed in your life, and over an onigiri too —
“Nice receive!” Atsumu suddenly bellows, clapping his hands boisterously. “(L/N) does it again!”
His brother, who’s standing a few feet behind you with a platter of chicken skewers, pumps his free fist into the air and joins in with a “Hell yeah!”
Mr. Miya starts laughing the same loud Miya laugh that you’ve heard way too many times today, and his sons soon follow suit. Shame is still flooding your body, but now you’re realizing just how ridiculous the whole situation is and you resist the urge to smile at your own stupidity. As soon as Mrs. Miya recovers from her initial surprise, she comes to help you up, and you can tell that she’s doing her best not to laugh as well.
“Are ya okay, dear?” she briefly inspects you for any sign of injury.
“All good here, Mrs. Miya.” You smile, genuinely and comfortably, as Atsumu comes behind you to wrap his arms around you and peck your cheek, still chuckling with a small note of pride. “All good.”
-
“See?” Atsumu’s smug as hell as the two of you enter the hotel elevator on your way up to your room. Osamu had dropped you off so there would be no need for another cab. “I told ya that they’d fuckin’ love ya.”
“Why’re you rubbing in something like this?” You scoff, dodging when he tries to pull you into a crushing hug.
“Because I was right.” He smirks. You roll your eyes to heaven.
“Well, you can’t blame me for being nervous! I still can’t believe that none of them got upset at me for diving for a rice ball at the dinner table.” You groan, hiding your face in your hands.
“Nah, why the hell would they? It was cool. Yer cool, Miss National Team Libero.” He laughs, reaching for you again and this time you let him bring you close to him. “Besides, like I said before, who could ever resist yer pretty lil face?”
“You’re a hopeless asshole.” You sigh, and Atsumu of course just chuckles, his laughter vibrating against your ear as you press yourself into his chest.
“I’m yer hopeless asshole.” He pecks the top of your head. “C’mon, babe. It’s our floor.”
You hadn’t realized how tired you are until the two of you enter your hotel room and you see the large, inviting bed. You practically jump onto it, burying your face into a pillow. “Goodnight…” you mumble sleepily.
“Ya gotta go shower and brush yer teeth first, idiot.” A pillow smacks you in the side of the head, and you leap up with a cry of surprise. “Damn, don’t be so loud, sweetheart. It’s late, y’know. Don’t wanna get a noise complaint like last night.” You turn bright red at the reminder.
“Shut u-up,” you retort. “I told you that we shouldn’t have tried to do it on the balcony.”
“It was fun, though, y’know! An experience. And ya sounded like you were enjoyin’ it, anyway.” He chucks another pillow at you, and you yelp as it nails you in the face. “Now get yer cute ass over here, we’re gonna shower.”
“You can’t make me.” You stubbornly lay back down and close your eyes, and you had peace for all but ten seconds before Atsumu’s plucking you off the bed and settling you into his arms bridal-style. Your eyes shoot open in shock and you flail desperately. “Put me down!”
“No can do. I’m not sleepin’ next to yer stinky self tonight, darlin’.” Atsumu laughs as you scowl.
“The floor’s always open for you,” you snap.
“Aw, yer no fun.” He steals a kiss from you in the blink of an eye; the only evidence of there being contact at all is a tingling feeling on your lips. You feel your heart melt just a little more.
“Fine. After we shower, we go straight to bed. Got it?”
“ And brush our teeth. Yer mornin’ breath is bad enough.” He lets out quite an unpleasant squawk when you smack him lightly in the shoulder. “Alright, sorry, sorry.”
“Is this just your excuse to see me naked?” you tease him as he sets you down on the bathroom counter before immediately removing his shirt to reveal his muscled torso. He grins wolfishly at you and shrugs.
“And if it is?” Atsumu’s eyes are zeroed in on the small hickey he had left right below your collarbone last night, which is now visible thanks to the way your shirt had rumpled after he had practically manhandled you into the bathroom.
“Well, I won’t complain.” You follow his gaze down to your neck, before glancing back up to meet his eyes and raise an eyebrow at him. “If you’re going to make it worth my time.”
About an hour later, the two of you are lying in bed together, effectively tuckered out and finally ready to sleep. Atsumu’s strong arms are wrapped tightly around you like a protective cocoon as you snuggle your face against his chest. The slow, steady rhythm of his heartbeat rocks you towards dreamland, and all the worries from the past day are slipping away.
“Hey, ‘Tsumu,” you mumble against his chest. He grunts tiredly.
“Yeah, sweetheart?”
There’s a small silence.
“...Thanks,” you finally say after a beat.
“Huh? For what?” he quips.
“For being patient with me today, even though I was so nervous. And for taking me to meet your family.” You crane your head to look up at him, contentment adorning your features. “I had a good time. I hope they don’t hate the idea of me coming around again sometime.”
Atsumu smiles that familiar smile, the smile filled with affection that others rarely get to see. His eyes are almost half-mooned with joy, his lips are curved up in genuine adoration, and his cheeks are flushed with color. You saw this smile for the first time when he set an incredibly low ball at training camp, earning the awe of everyone in the room, including yourself. Never did you think that you would ever have this expression of pure love aimed at you, nor did you think it would fill you with so much happiness every time you had the blessing of seeing it. He says nothing for a while, suddenly resorting to trailing kisses all over your face. You let him, closing your eyes peacefully as he showers you with his love, ending with one final peck to your nose.
“I'm sure they'd like to have you around again.”
And if Atsumu continues playing his cards right, he thinks there might be a possibility that in the next five or so years, you could truly become part of the family with a glittering ring on your finger.
Only time will tell if that possibility will ever come to fruition, but as you tilt your head up to give him one last kiss on the lips and whisper those three words to him, he knows for sure that he wants to continue building towards that future with you.
“I love you too.” He lets his eyes fall shut as well, before resting his chin atop your head and savoring the warmth of your body against his.
Only time will tell.

Fake Confessions Spawn Real Feelings
Tumblr media
Pairings: Nishinoya X Reader
Words: 2.2K
Summary: Noya asks you to help him make Kiyoko jealous, but like most of his ideas it doesn’t go the way he expects it to.
Notes: Chaotic Noya is my favorite Noya, so half this fic is cute and half this fic is him being a crackhead. Both versions I'm unhealthily in love with.
**there’s now a sequel with the first date**
Masterlist
“Noya what the hell are you doing?”
Nishinoya appeared by your desk the moment the final bell had rung bouncing with the energy of a caffeinated toddler. You were suspicious of the impatient look in his eyes that could only mean trouble, which was later confirmed by him pulling you out of your desk the moment your class materials were packed. Now, without explaining his actions, he weaved his way through the halls while dragging you reluctantly along.
“The most genius thing ever.” He said once you arrived outside the school’s gymnasium. Nishinoya dropped your hand and began looking around the empty courtyard.
“What are you looking for?”
“Kiyoko,” he opened his bag and dug around before producing an envelope. You raised an amused brow at the poorly drawn hearts adorning the parchment.
“Are you giving that to her?”
Nishinoya raised an eyebrow like you’d just asked the most ridiculous question he’d ever heard. “What? No, this is empty.” He shoved it into your hands.
You blinked, raising the envelope into the light to confirm that it was indeed see through. “So, you just decorated an empty envelope? What’s the point of that?”
“Well, when Kiyoko sees another girl confessing her feelings for me. She’ll think I’m irresistible!”
He puffed out his chest after swinging his bag back onto his back.
“Another girl?” You snorted as you flipped the envelope over to admire the poorly drawn kissy faces on its back. “Who’s stupid enough to do that?”
“You are!” He said as if it should have been the most obvious thing in the world. You stared blankly. “You’re going to give me that fake love letter.”
“What do you mean I’m going to-”
“Then she’ll be like, ‘oh Noya, I didn’t realize you were so sexy and talented, please don’t leave me’,” he said while clasping his hands together and raising his voice several octaves.
“I don’t think she’s going to-”
“And I’ll be like, ‘Kiyoko baby I would never leave you. I’d wait a million lifetimes sweet mama’.” He grabbed his cheeks and wiggled his butt around, clearly lost in a fantasy. “Then we’ll fall in love and get married at a destination wedding and have ten thousand children and Tanaka will weep of jealousy at my astounding awesomeness.”
“Ten thousand babies?” Your jaw dropped in horror before you quickly shook it off. You pushed the envelope against his chest. “Look, I’m not doing this.”
“C’mon, this is literally life or death.” He tried, shoving the letter back into your hands.
“What if someone sees? I’m supposed to live with the reputation of confessing to you and everyone thinking you turned me down?”
“First of all, ouch. Second of all, everyone’s gone home by now.” Nishinoya shrugged. “What could possibly go wrong?”
The phrase alone made a long list scroll through your mind. “I wouldn’t even know how to confess.”
“I’m literally cool as fuck,” Noya smirked. “It should be easy. Just be honest.”
You gave him a once-over. “Do you want to impress Kiyoko or have me be honest? Pick one.”
Nishinoya glared at you before his eyes connected with something over your shoulder. “Okay, here she comes. Act natural.”
He released the envelope and you caught it on reflex, sneering at him while he straightened out his poster and uniform jacket. What did he mean to act natural? Absolutely nothing about this situation was natural.
“Oh my gosh, (Y/N). Why did you ask that we meet out here all alone?” Noya said, his voice awkwardly stiff and loud.
Your grip on the envelope tightened as you tried to keep yourself from becoming more agitated with Nishinoya. He has the nerve to tell you to act natural and then puts on a performance like that. “I have something important I need to tell you…”
“I wonder what it is. As someone who respects all women I will take any amount of time out of my day to listen to your words.” The corner of his mouth quirks up and he shoots you a small thumbs up at his hip. It takes all of your concentration to not roll your eyes.
You heard a pair of footsteps echoing from the walkway that connected the main building and the gymnasium, so you figured one of them belonged to Kiyoko. In your peripheral you spotted her and Yachi pretending to stare down at a clipboard in Kiyoko’s hands, but you knew they were glancing up at the fake display you both were putting on.
“Uh, well, it’s just… um... ” You nibbled on your bottom lip from frustration. Thankfully, they probably took your hesitation for nervousness rather than the inability to think of something to say.
It wasn’t that you disliked Nishinoya. You actually really admired him-not that you had ever imagined admitting it to his face. But… if you didn’t have a choice.
You took a deep breath.
“I think that you're really amazing,” you said, avoiding his excited amber eyes you knew were trained on Kiyoko anyway. “I like how determined you are to do your best and how that transitions to how hard you work in volleyball. I truly believe you’re the greatest libero there is.”
You felt Nishinoya’s focus become more grounded on you, so you lifted your stare to meet his. The longer you made eye-contact the more it felt like he was pulling the confession from you. “I like how much you care about your friends and that you work hard to cheer people up even when I can tell you’re not in a great mood yourself. I also admire how fearless you are and how you’re the first to try new things.” You looked down again and dug your shoe into the dirt. “I wish I could be more like that sometimes.”
You felt your cheeks warming as his mouth went a little slack and his brow creased. You knew you could probably stop at any moment, but the words were flowing too easily and a part of you wanted him to hear them now. Later you could pretend it was for the bit and not because your heart weighed heavy in your chest.
“I’ve always been jealous of how free it feels to be around you. Like, how chaotic and carefree you can be, but you still know how to be serious in certain situations.” You shrugged. “You’re also pretty cute or whatever, so that’s a good addition.”
Nishinoya looked in awe. You glanced back at Kiyoko and Yachi who were now watching from the gymnasium’s entrance-their heads peeking out from the doorway. You became self-conscious when you remembered it wasn’t just you and Nishinoya and you felt the urgency to wrap this up quickly.
“So, uh,” you held the poorly crafted envelope Nishinoya had made outward. “I really like you, Nishinoya. I hope you can accept my feelings.”
The moment had come where he was supposed to turn you down. Say he couldn’t accept and you’d be on your way to live life like normal. But, instead of saying anything he just kept staring at you.
You coughed awkwardly and waved the envelope in his face. “Noya…”
“Oh, uh, right.” His cheeks dusted pink and he took the empty envelope. “Thanks. That um… you’re also… pretty cool.”
He just stared down at the poorly crafted envelope for several moments before glancing back up at you nervously.
“So, I get done with practice at around six if you want to hang out later? Unless you’re busy tonight. We can hang out this weekend or really I can make any time work. Dead ass, like, I can fucking skip practice if that’s what you want.”
You blinked.
...what.
“What’s going on?” You leaned forward to whisper, but he leaned away awkwardly. “This wasn’t the plan.”
“I know, but you said all those nice things and now I’m confused.” Nishinoya covered his face with his hands.
“Confused how?” You looked back to the doorway where Kiyoko and Yachi had been peeking out and frowned at how they were gone.
“Confused like my heart feels funny and now I want to get married and have ten thousand kids and stuff.”
Your face turned bright red. “What? I can’t have ten thousand kids.”
“One thousand?”
“I’m not having more than two kids,” you crossed your arms. “Besides, one kid with your energy is equivalent to at least two.”
He pouted. “Fine, but then I get to choose our destination wedding.”
“Absolutely not. You’d pick somewhere ridiculous like Nebraska.”
“What the hell is a Nebraska?”
“It’s a boring place in the US where nothing-” You waved it off. “Why are we even talking about this? You don’t like me, Noya. You like Kiyoko.”
“But I didn’t even know I was allowed to like you,” his brow furrowed as he thought. “I mean, I’ve thought about liking you, but it’s different ‘ya know?”
“No,” you responded. Next time Nishinoya pulls you into a ridiculous plot where he claims ‘what could possibly go wrong?’ you’d have to add actual confessions to the long list.
“You’re like a real person.” He gestured to all of you and you just tilted your head confused. “It’s like, Kiyoko can turn me down a hundred times, but she’ll still talk to me so who cares. But if you turned me down it’d be different. I might never get to be with you again. Does that make sense?”
“I guess… so…” You furrowed your brow and stared at his shoes that were tapping nervously against the ground. “Do you even know how to go on dates?”
“How dare you,” he placed a hand over his chest in mock horror. “I’ll have you know I’ve read two whole romance books. No pictures.”
“Well, when you sell yourself like that.” You smirked before taking a deep breath. “I mean, I guess… it would be fine. If we had one date.”
“Really?” He fist pumped. “Fuck yeah. I’m gonna swoon you so good. This’ll be the best date of your life.”
“I’ve never been on a date.”
“Even better! There’s no standard.” He cackled as he spun around with his fist raised high. “I can’t even fuck it up.”
“I don’t think that’s how that-”
“I’ll text you,” he sent you a wide smile over his shoulder. “I promise that this is going to be really great. You’re going to love it.”
You gave a slight nod and watched him practically skip into the gymnasium. It took Tanaka’s disbelieving shouts to snap you out of your frozen stupor and you stared down at your hands in confusion.
What the hell just happened?
Mindlessly, you made your way to the front of the school where your bike was chained up so you could finally get home and relax. You spent the entire ride home in a numb state of disbelief that somehow, in less than an hour, you’d gone from refusing to admit you found Nishinoya even remotely cool to going on a date with him.
What kind of witchcraft had he pulled?
You assured yourself that it was just a date and nothing would come of it. So when you struggled with focusing on your homework that night because every few minutes your heart would do acrobatics at the idea of spending time alone with Nishinoya, you pretended it was just leftover embarrassment.
It also probably meant nothing that your face turned red when he texted you immediately after his practice with like ten smiley faces. And it definitely wasn’t a big deal that you giggled like an idiot while texting him until three in the morning about absolutely nothing. That was all just normal stuff that happened between normal people who had a normal non-romantic connection. No way had you actually fallen for Nishinoya.
You definitely weren’t in denial.
As you sat through a boring lesson the next day in class your eyes drifted, landing unsurprisingly on the boy taking up too much of your mental space. He was absentmindedly fiddling with his dyed strand of hair as he focused intently on the workbook on his desk. His tongue poked out in concentration as he repeatedly wrote and erased something on the same line in his notebook. You smiled fondly at the frustrated crease between his furrowed brow as he struggled to analyze that day’s literature passage.
Nishinoya must have felt you blatantly staring because he lifted his head confused before searching around the room and finally meeting your eyes dead on. You stared at each other briefly until he gave you a lopsided grin that sent your heart into a frenzy. You lifted your hand for a little wave and embarrassingly turned your attention back to your own schoolwork.
You rubbed your pencil’s eraser against one of your now pink cheeks.
Damn it… you thought, as you began underlining random sentences to appear busy. You really did like him. A small smile rested on your lips as your heart kept it’s irregular pattern. Perhaps that wasn’t such a bad thing?
You snuck another peek and your smile fell when you saw him cross-eyed and balancing his pencil on his top lip. He’d apparently given up on attempting to do the assigned work for the day. You watched the pencil roll forward and he tried to catch it on his tongue before it clattered onto his desk, pulling everyone’s attention.
You groaned quietly and covered your face with your hands.
At least he was cute?

A harsh breeze assaulted your face, recklessly blowing locks of hair in random directions as you zipped through the air with your ODM gear.
You gazed on at the destruction below. The city of Libero, Marley, had gone up in flames so unceremoniously mere hours ago. Bodies—civilian and military—were scattered on the streets like tiny shards of glass. The sight was horrid to you, and many others, of course. The destruction reminded you of the attack on Shinganshina all those years ago, and what you had seen that day. It was a wicked cycle, and one that was repeating, much to your sorrow.
It was a deliberate attack by Eren Jaeger, your soldier comrade in the Scouts. Once just a hotheaded idiot dead-set on freeing humanity, now an intimidating, powerful man, determined to put an end to Marley and win everyone's "freedom" back. That is, only, if you count genocide as a means to gain freedom.
It was ludicrous. You could never imagine trampling others' freedom in pursuit of your own. It was inhumane, cruel, but...
That's not what you should be thinking about right now.
Your feet hit the underside of the airship, and you slowly scaled your way towards the open door. A hand was outstretched towards you, and attached to the hand was the sun. Or rather, Sasha Braus.
You took her hand graciously, pulling yourself up with a grunt, steadying yourself in the ship before immediately pulling her into an embrace. She returned the gesture, wrapping her arms around your shoulders and burying herself in your neck.
The moment was only brief, however, since the gazes of other soldiers were ever present, so you pulled away somewhat self-consciously.
"I'm so glad you're alright, Y/n." She sighed, taking your hand and squeezing it, a much more subtle gesture of affection. "God, I was so worried. I heard your squad was in a tough spot, and I tried my hardest to go look for you, but Jean he— he wouldn't let go, and—!"
"Sasha, Sasha, relax. It's alright." You smile, setting a hand on her shoulder, and it wasn't until know that you realized she was shaking. "I get you were worried, but I'm here now. I'm okay, we survived, that's all that matters."
You leaned forward, giving her a quick peck on the cheek that made her cheeks tint adorably pink. "Yeah, guess you're right..."
Suddenly, distant yelling across the ship caught your attention. Connie and Jean, both alive and well on the other side of the ship, were waving to you two, calling you over.
You turned back to smile at her, squeezing her hand in affirmation as the two of you made your way over.
"There you two are." Connie smiled, "I admit, I was a little worried this time. Things got pretty bloody out there."
Suddenly, he threw his arms around you, Sasha, and Jean, pulling you into an impromptu group hug. "I know this isn't fair to the others, but... I'm glad you're all okay. You guys are important to me."
Sasha smiled, putting her hand comfortably onto Connie's arm, holding onto him, whilst Jean groaned uncomfortably, shifting around awkwardly.
"Your gear is too damn clunky." He mumbled, worming his way out of the hug. Connie released his hold on you and Sasha shortly after, giving you a genuine, warm smile before de-equipping the gear from his sides.
You leaned against the wall with a groan, massaging at your temples in an attempt to relieve the tension in your head.
"You okay?" Sasha questioned, joining you on the wall as her body turned to you with concern.
"Yeah... Yeah I'm fine." You sigh, releasing your hand from your forehead. "It's just... I don't know... I'm just not used to seeing all this destruction. Until now, we've been fighting titans—not humans. I don't like all this death and destruction. It's so... unnecessary. I hate it." You state flatly, freely dumping all your worries to the auburn-haired girl. Despite what one might think at first, she was amazing at comforting people, and was always there when something was keeping you awake at night, or nagging at you during a day off.
"Babe, I get what you're feeling." She soothes, grabbing you by the shoulders and pulling you in, gently setting her hand on the back of your head to guide it to your shoulder. You silently complied. "This all is awful. That's no lie. It shouldn't have happened. But it isn't your fault, either." She said, running her fingers through your hair. "The responsibility is all on Eren. He started this, not you. Don't ever feel guilty about this."
You didn't respond verbally, instead tilting your head into her neck, allowing her to comfort you for a little while longer, indulging in the rare moment of vulnerability.
The moment was, once again, short lived, as a loud shout startled you out of your spot in the crook of Sasha's neck.
"It's our time to celebrate! The first battle of the new Eldian empire has ended in victory! We won!" It was the voice of Floch, a soldier you had soon grown to hate over your years of knowing him. Not only for his comments towards Armin, but also his support of the attack. He seemed not to care about the lives of Marleyans, rather caring about the success of prosperity of Paradis, or as he called it, "the New Eldian Empire".
"Ignore him." Sasha spoke to you, understanding how easily he would get under your skin. Soon, she started walking over to where Jean and Connie were standing, talking amongst themselves. You followed her wordlessly, deciding that distracting yourself with conversation would be the best option for now.
"Have you heard anything from Lobov?" You managed to pick up Connie saying, once you were in earshot.
"He should be coming up just about now." Jean responded, and you and Sasha took your places next to the two of them.
Sasha opened her mouth to speak, but immediately froze in her place, mouth slightly agape and eyes widened. She turned back to look at the opened airship door in confusion.
"Did you hear that?" She asked, turning back to the group. You, Connie, and Jean all exchanged confused looks for a minute, before Jean cleared his throat, preparing to speak.
"Hey, everyone, quiet down!" He shouted, attempting to gain control of the rowdy soldiers.
"Celebrate! It's our victory!" Floch raised his fist in the air, prompting everyone else to do the same, the group erupting into shouts and cheers.
"Hey!" Jean yelled louder this time, but to no avail.
You turned back to the airship door, scanning where Sasha had looked at moments prior, checking for any possible threats. You were about to turn back around, but an arm hoisting itself onto the airship caught your attention.
You froze in horror, watching as the soldier—a child soldier—rolled aboard the deck, a furious and determined look on her face as she pointed her rifle right into the crowd. Right at Sasha.
There was no time to think it out, to assess the situation—anything.
Without any hesitation, you lurched forwards to tackle Sasha and protect her from the—
*BANG*
The shot rang out, and even after the sound faded, a ring in your ears persisted, blocking out any and all noise around you.
The bullet shell clinked to the ground, and the soldier gazed on in bewilderment at what she'd done, finding herself shocked and unable to reload.
Jean took a quick glance at you and Sasha, both of you on the ground, blood already spilling onto the ground, and his mind clouded with rage. Without thinking, he drew his pistol from his waistband, drawing it up to his shoulder level and shooting back at the soldier.
Another soldier, also a child, a blonde one this time, climbed aboard right after, tackling the girl to the ground and saving her from the bullet, which ricocheted off of the metal beams of the airship and shot back at Jean, narrowly missing his face.
The other soldiers seemed to have gotten a hold of their senses, as they suddenly let out furious screams, charging towards the two children and relentlessly beating them, anger clouding their thoughts.
Sasha groaned from her position on the floor, dark vision finally materializing. She stirred, looking around and trying to gauge what had just happened, raising her hand to her forehead to try and push some of her hair out of her face. To her horror, though, the hand was wet. It was uncomfortably warm, yet characteristically crimson. Her gaze shifted to you in horror, still having your arms tucked protectively around her, shielding her from harm.
"Y/n!" She shouted, yanking you off of her, not realizing in the heat of the moment that that might hurt you. Your clothes were stained with blood, and you let out an involuntary groan in pain as you started to regain your senses.
"Y/n, come on! Where are you bleeding?! Where... where—?!" She searched frantically, her blood running cold and face paling as her hands grew bloodier and bloodier the more she searched. "Come on...!"
Suddenly, you moved your arm, grabbing Sasha's by the wrist and moving her hand away.
"S... Sash, stop, that hurts..." You mumble through clenched teeth, trying your hardest not to let Sasha realize the extent of your injury. Clearly, though, it wasn't working, as she only looked even more panicked at the thought of accidentally hurting you.
"Y/n... I..." She chocked out, tears starting to cloud her eyes as she desperately looked for something to do, something that could possibly help you in this situation.
"Bandages!" She suddenly shouted, "I need bandages! Somebody!!!"
You wince as your own hand starts to roam your torso, looking for the bullet hole. You let out a quiet sigh of relief when you located it—on your shoulder, close to your collarbone. Despite all the blood, it had thankfully missed any vital organs or major arteries.
"Here... Sasha..." You muttered, causing Sasha's head to snap back to your direction at your words. Your hand was cupped over the wound, as if it would stop the bleeding. Still, it signaled to Sasha where exactly the injury was, and you saw some of the tension lift in her face at the realization that it was a fairly nonfatal location, luckily. She took a deep breath in before speaking.
"Shhh... It's okay Y/n." She finally collected herself, calming herself down just enough to comfort you, just like she always had. "Lay down, take deep breaths, don't panic." She instructed, her hands gently pushing you down by your shoulders, and you did as she said wordlessly, being too tired to mutter any sort of affirmation to her.
Another soldier tossed her the roll of bandages, and she immediately started to unwind it, placing it on the wound and wrapping it around and under your armpit with swift precision and caution so uncharacteristic of her.
"Here, this should stop the bleeding a bit. You'll be okay, you'll be just fine..." She mumbled, though it seemed she was reassuring herself more than she was reassuring you.
You laid there in silence, staring up at the ceiling above you—occasionally grunting or wincing at the waves of pain that shot through you. Though, you somewhat reveled in the feeling of your lover carefully wrapping the bandage around your shoulder, taking great caution not to hurt you in any way.
You lolled your head to the other side, staring curiously at her. She was too focused to notice you at first, her tongue poking out of her mouth in concentration. Her skin was still somewhat pale, and adorned with a thin sheen of sweat, from the sudden panic and stress.
Finally, she finished wrapping up the bandage, cutting it from the roll and throwing it haphazardly to the side. Sighing, she gazed down at you, only now realizing you had been staring. She didn't seem to mind though, only reaching her hand down to cup your cheek, the warmth of your skin being a soothing reminder that you were still here—with her. You leaned into her hand, also enjoying the warmth of her skin.
She brushed the loose strands of hair out of your face, leaning down to plant a warm kiss on your lips, smiling as she pulled away, pressing her forehead to yours. You let out a small chuckle before placing your hand on her neck, pulling her down for another kiss.
Once separated, you slowly sat up, pulling yourself into a sitting position with all of the strength you could muster up.
"Ah, Y/n, try not to move so much..." Sasha mutters, worry dripping carelessly into her tone as her hands find your shoulders, guiding you to sit against the wall.
"I'm alright, it's... not so bad." You turned to smile at her weakly, trying to hide the pain's effect on you. It was in vain, however, as Sasha saw through your act quickly.
"No, you're not. Here—" She moved towards you, hooking her arm under your knees, the other one finding your lower back. Slowly, she stood up, carrying you bridal style. You instinctively curled into her chest like a child, gripping onto her shirt as a way to ground you.
To your dismay, though, she eventually stopped, gently laying you down on an old, stiff mattress. One of the infamous beds of the infirmary.
"C'mon, you need rest." She cooed, fluffing your pillow and lifting your head to place it under you. Carefully, she pushed you to the side, making just enough room for her to squeeze into the bed with you. She tucked the blanket over the two of you, lying on her side and facing you, your back turned to her.
She snaked her arm around your waist, pulling you closer and spooning you as gently as possible, as if you were glass, ready to shatter.
You closed your eyes, already feeling sleep and exhaustion taking over your body, the tension and pain slowly dissolving from your muscles.
The silence didn't last long, though.
"Why did you do that?" She finally spoke. Her voice was weak and shaky, trying her hardest to fight off the tears pricking at the corner of her eyes. "Why did you save me?"
"Why wouldn't I?" You rebutted almost immediately, like it was the simplest question she could've asked you.
"You could've gotten killed..." She whispered, pulling you closer to her, trying to get as much skin to skin contact as possible.
"So?" You shifted, turning your head around to face her, staring her down. A twinge of sadness poked at your heart at the sight of the tears in her eyes. You instinctively moved your hands to wipe them away. "I couldn't imagine a world where I would live without you, knowing I had the option to save you and didn't choose it."
She sniffled again, not fighting the tears that escaped her eyes. "But what would I have done if I lost you? I wouldn't know what to do... I couldn't live with myself if that happened."
"You don't gotta worry about that..." You mumbled, kissing away her tears. "No matter what, I'm not leaving you, and I trust you won't ever leave me. After all," You smiled warmly, causing a shy blush to rise to her cheeks. "We still have to get married after the war, and settle down in the forest with a few kids, just like you always said you dreamed of."
She smiled, a hopeful look sparking in her eyes. "Yeah, guess so."
You turned your head back over, closing you eyes.
"I promise you, I'll never leave you. Remember that."
"Of course," She smiles, leaning into the nape of your neck and inhaling your scent. "Of course I know that. I trust you."
"Love you..."
"Love you too."

hi hello hi chelsea !
if you’d like to, wanna ship your moots?
ah okay i'm not prepared & cannot think on the spot
i use the word ' think ' a lot because this is just my opinion and observations so feel free to correct me
++ no particular order, i just went through my follower list and looked for that bright green symbol <3
@maipxilia & iwaizumi — ur recent fic may have been an influence but i honestly think yous would be so cute ahh ! ur v v sweet and always thinking about others, and you share similarities, both supportive, intelligent & well respected (iwaizumi by his underclassmen and u, by me ofc). while iwaizumi is reliable he is also stubborn — who can he depend on ? you !
@missmorosis & bokuto — UR DYNAMIC I'MJSNDNDFJKS ur so comfortable to talk with i remember being ur '<33' anon and that was the first time i ever interacted like ever and u were so welcoming :') bokuto would find that admirable and while he is energetic and playful, when you're around he'd try his hardest to impress you with his wits, and shift to more of a shy demeanour. but since u share many similarities he just becomes his usual, bubbly, loving self. much like u ! idk if he likes rain, but he'd gladly spend his time dancing with u in the rain, even if it's lashing. happy birthday loveee <33
@ellewords & oikawa — i've said this so much but, oblivious idiots to lovers ? need i explain. at first he doesn't understand why there's a pang in his chest when you "reject" his advances, but in all honesty, you'd just grown used to his flirtatious nature and brushed it off, even though you also probably felt something in your chest. butterflies, perhaps. it's only when he labels the photo booth pictures you've taken with terms of endearment, he realises.
@monitsou & kageyama — maybe it's cause ur having a kageyama brainrot but tbh yous would match. he would admire ur kindness but it's when he finds himself laughing with u that he finds comfort and realises lol. i can imagine u as their manager and because u give great advice you would offer him a word or two about his bluntness, but to no avail, cause it's his frank words that confess his feelings for u <3
@xybi & yachi — yes she is intimidated by literally everyone, and she would be intimidated by you but only cause ur v pretty and a single tear would probably shed down her cheeks because of this. she'd become very flustered in your presence and blurt out a handful of compliments — your piano playing, volleyball skills, and most definitely dresses you've sewn, and gift you a dress back. anyways, you both are too cute.
@kohi-zeri & saiki — the disastrous life of saiki k was the first ever anime i had watched, and i loved it sm and when i found out u liked it too ? i knew then and there, i had exquisite taste. i think he'd befriend you, assuming you have similar characteristics, and that he'd rather be friends with u than nendou and kaidou, and to steer clear from teruhashi. but he'd find himself chuckling to your jokes. yes, kusuo saiki, laughing ?? being stubborn and prideful, he would not admit it, but was forced to when you had caught him sabotaging others who had gotten a bit too close LMFAOO. ALSO I JUST SAW UR CARRD AND IT IS SO COOL
@astroqphillic & nishinoya — k i love noya so much he is my number 1, but yous are just too good together omg <33 as expected, he'd fall shy under your gaze but when he found out ur also a libero ?? he is back to his boisterous self. until u compliment him on his receives. whoops, he's gone again. all the flirting n cuddling gets bundled into a box labeled "just friends" because yous are oblivious. until he comes up behind you to give you a back hug. but you. turn around. and lips have met. "just friends" my ass. SOULMATES UR HONOUR.
@mysterystarz & akaashi — i mean, we all saw this coming. who else could it be ? although i was late to ur wedding, i was still able to witness the amount of love akaashi holds for you, and vice versa. it's in his eyes, his playlist when he's handed the aux, and the marks on his hand ?? oh yeah, ink smudges. from writing poems for you with utmost affection. keinova 4 life <3
@rintarhue & sugawara — YOU ARE SO FUN AND LOVING AND EASY TO TALK TO, I LOVE THAT AND I LOVE YOU !! and yk who else would ? sugawara koushi. ah yes, with his soothing yet cheeky personality you both would be perfect, i think. mischievous is the word i'd use to describe your relationship. maybe he'd have you visit his class and you'd become the childrens' favourite ! what a perfect match. jk u match with me, even tumblr said so
Tumblr media
63.543 notes ? we clearly have some shippers bae
@shirari & shirabu — okay we haven't interacted much but you seem so kind !! and ur theme is so cute ahsbdh shirabu would probably fall in love with the playlist u made him <33 despite the amount of studying he has to do (medical field things </3) he would definitely spare time for you two <3
@tesoromia & ushijima — u seem so very sweet and i think ushijima would admire that, from afar atleast, being the stoic person he is. but something about the way you dance, fully immersed with the movements and flowing with the music, he can't help but compliment you. expect a lot of compliments, due to his blunt nature.
@planetoru & oikawa — you made him ugly laugh and he contemplated life for a bit. i sense an enemies to lovers typa beat. he started asking all of life's unanswered questions, as well as accusing you of poisoning his coffee cause he felt a funny feeling in his stomach. then he realised you made him laugh cause ur funny, gorgeous, sweet, perfect and he loves you. then i knock him out cause i'm literally going out with u <3 and gojo too even though he could kill me on the spot !
@tooru-luvs & tsukishima — hii i read through a few of your posts to get to know you a bit and i think he would love u ahh <33 u seem very kind but also very determined to get tasks done and he'd admire that ! also sarcasm ? he would definitely love that.
@shoyotime & akaashi — ahh u seem so nice but chaotic and fun at the same time ?? you'd think akaashi would be used to it due to bokuto's enthusiastic personality, but while he seems calm and composed with him, i feel like he'd become flustered whenever you're around ?? he'd definitely go to bokuto for some advice and to accompany him as his wingman when he wants to talk to you HAHBSBD
@kozuelle & kiyoko — k i know u love kenma but kiyoko would be madly in love with u. again, she is one to admire from afar and maybe shower you with compliments once in a while if she's feeling courageous. other times, i feel like she would be big into giving u gifts, or perform acts of service. maybe she'd show up to watch you play the violin, or do ballet and admire your notes ! or perhaps, a heartfelt card showcasing her true feelings for you that she's been harbouring. boom, confession.
@animated-moon & tendou — soulmates yes. he would make custom chocolates for you to help with studies ! unique molds, unique tastes, all curated for you. all the childhood memories really did come in handy along with the several dates you've been on. multiple chocolates placed in a ferris wheel themed box, symbolising your tradition to go on it every year.
@mnzu & kenma — aa u seem so funny and kind !! he is introverted yes, but he has definitely analysed your whole personality while trying to find out more about you. he has vine references memorised with the hope that you will laugh along with him. if you look over his shoulder and into his switch, he's naming his animal crossing island after you. LMFAOO
@elitparadox & kita — U ARE SO SWEET AND KITA WOULD LOVE U !! and he is not afraid to show it. similar to atsumu when he had a cold, he would send baskets full of love for u ! ur fave snacks, fluffy socks, a heartfelt letter. except, he would send this every week, even if you are not sick. a different one yes, but wow you're gonna have so much baskets HAHSBD. you'd been expecting another basket upon hearing a knock at the door, but instead received a confession ! what a lovely exchange <33
@atsuvu & sakusa — no doubt about it, he'd fall in love with your music taste. HAHD IT'S SO GOOD THOUGH. you seem very chill, and he'd admire that, but you're also sweet and funny which he admires too. much to atsumu's dismay when he tells sakusa that he's also extremely funny. also mitski wahh i love her !!
@mattsunbae & tanaka — he'd fall in love with you immediately. best friend's brother typa beat ygm ?? i feel like you and saeko would be best friends for sure, and tanaka would see u, and boom. love at first sight. yeah he'd definitely shower you in compliments every second and knock every male within a 30cm radius. one night you'd be at saeko's house until her window fucking broke ?? you take a glance outside and witness tanaka ryuunosuke. attempting to lift a massive boombox over his shoulder whilst panting heavily, because he had to run back to his house, having initially thought that you were at your own house. boyfriend by big time rush is playing.
@tohman & atsumu — YOU SEEM SO FUNNY AND YOU AND ATSUMU WOULD BE SO PERFECT FOR EACH OTHER !! he'd probably see those men on your phone screen and start bawling with jealousy until you explain that it's from an otome game LMFAOOAOAONDS
@liv-laugh-die & kuroo — u seem very chill but also very sweet and kind !! he'd flirt with u non stop !!! agh i feel like you would be so very cute together, but if you compliment him back,,, whew he'd get so flustered <33
@strawbearisamu & lev — quality time and words of affirmation are his forte ! k while you'd eat spicy ramen, he would definitely attempt !! but once you see tears brimming at the corner of his eye, you have to hold him back from his bowl while he denies that he was ever in pain LMFAO <33 don't be afraid to tell him about your ideas, because he will encourage you and be so supportive ! you can pursue anything <3
@shinalie & bokuto — you seem so kind ahhh and bokuto would fall in love with you at first glance ! he'd compliment everything, from your writing, to your music taste ! everything <33
@moonless-abyss & daishou — yes he is competitive, yes he would fight for your attention. if he ever finds out that kuroo had taken an interest in you ? prepare for war <33
@srkuv & yamaguchi — i feel like he'd bump into you and be so embarrassed bshbhf but you'd reassure him and just like that, he's fallen in love. with your kindness and humour, how could he not ? feel bad for tsukishima though, as he receives a chain full of texts from yamaguchi about none other than you <3
@tetsvhoe / @rantess & kuroo — i think you'd probably report a social media account that was claiming to be you, but in reality it was a fanpage by kuroo. tbh you should've guessed based on the multiple hearts in the pictures and captions, but no regrets as you see a look of panic on kuroo tetsurou's smug, now frightened, face. he'd gift you a kitten as an apology <3
@sakuctsu & osamu — ahh i know we've just interacted recently but you seem very welcoming and so very kind ! he'd listen to your playlist and compliment each song on it. although, your yoga sessions accompanied by rain might be interrupted once you hear the clanging of his pans and ingredients in the kitchen </3 but not to worry, it's a meal just for you ! and he'd add it to his menu <33

Let your hair down | Nishinoya Yuu
Tumblr media
stumbling into noya with his hair worn down was a wecome distraction to your little homesickness problem
Tumblr media
pairing: nishinoya yuu x fem!reader
w.c: 3.989
warnings: mentions of homesickness
a.n: in this house we ask for kiyoko’s hand in marriage (if you’re wondering why homegirl is mentioned so much), also noya with his hair down is so pretty i’m in love.
Tumblr media
You were never able to sleep when you were away from home.
It made you a little embarrassed, since only children would get homesick as soon as one night into sleeping elsewhere but their own house.
You were only glad none of the boys knew about it, you didn't think they'd tease you (okay maybe Tsukki would....Tsukki definitely would) but you still didn't want them to know that their first-year manager was being such a baby about something this mortal.
You were already the youngest amongst them all, even younger than Kageyama who's been the baby of the team before you got recruited by Kiyoko to be the follow-up manager of the boy's volleyball team when her and the other three-years would leave next year. You didn't need them to think of you as not only the youngest but also the most vulnerable of the squad. They didn't need to know you were being an actual baby, and only because of a 5 day long training camp away from your hometown.
Everyone seemed to be so unbothered about sleeping elsewhere, most of the boys were more excited than anything to be away from their parents and house rules for a few days. None of the girls you had gotten to know better during breaks and extra training the boys had were nervous either.
Which made you feel like the biggest wuss.
It wasn't long before bed-time now, all of the girls and you had already gotten ready for bed and changed into your nightwear, yours consistent of boxers and an oversized hoodie (nights in tokyo were a lot colder than in karasuno), and gathered around to talk before finally hitting the sack.
You had snuck out of the room, though, when nobody was paying much attention to you. The anxiety of spending your first night this far away from home was slowly crawling its way under your skin and started to nag at your bones.
You didn't want anybody to notice and thus decided to get a snack; maybe some food would calm you down.
You thought you remembered seeing this vending machine with a few chocolate bars and soft drinks near the bathroom and it wasn't long until you found it, it being the only source of light illuminating the dark corridors of the floor.
And you’ve been being right. There were a variety of different snacks you could choose from, chocolate bars, chips and pretz biscuit chips even (which was your favorite).
You pressed the button with the right number, watching the snack you loved so much being slowly inched forward by the mechanism before it dropped down, ready for you to pick up.
You bent down, lifting the metal hatch and grabbing for the chips, already feeling a little better at the thought of the familiar snack in your hands, when there was a plodding noise from behind you startling you.
You didn't have time to see what it belonged to, neither did you have time to be scared, as there was a sudden voice suddenly coming from right behind you.
"You're hungry, too, huh?"
A startled scream escaped your lips instinctively before you could hold it back and you twirled around in your spot, wide eyes settling on the person who had so cruelly decided to sneak up on you while you were deep in thought.
As you recognized him, it startled you almost as badly as his sudden appearance had, not because you didn't expect him to be the one plagued by hunger after his several servings at dinner, but because you hadn't expected him to look so different.
"Sorry, i didn't mean to startle you," the boy apologized, giving you a soft smile and you nodded at him, your eyes still glued to where his hair was supposed to be.
Nishinoya Yuu, also known as the bane of your very short existence (at least that's what you had nicknamed him) was standing in front of you with his hair let down.
Usually the volleyball team's very own libero, wore his hair gelled up in spikes, with only one bleached strand hanging into his face. Just the right fit for his loud and a little rough personality.
Now, though, due to the shower he must have had, judging by the still wet hair and the towel he had thrown over his shoulder, his usual spikes were gone, his hair instead was falling down in sleek strands, making his features look a lot softer.
And so much cuter.
Okay, no, stop that right now.
The reason why you liked to call Nishinoya the 'bane of your very short existence' was because of thoughts like that.
You tended to swoon over the boy mentally; a boy you've barely held a conversation with that had consisted of more than three sentences.
You didn't know why Noya had caught your interest, not that he wasn't handsome, no he was incredibly cute, but you didn't really know him that well. Other than that he was very good in volleyball, the most enthusiastic person you knew (well, ignoring Hinata of course) and utterly enamored with Kiyoko.
Who wasn't?
Tsukkishima was probably the only member of the volleyball team that didn't get flustered around the third-year manager.
Even you couldn't help the nervousness you've felt around her the first few times you've talked one on one.
She was just amazing.
"Oh, hi Noya-san," you greeted him sheepishly, noticing in embarrassment that you've just stared at him in silence for way too long.
At least you two were familiar enough for you to call him by his nickname.
To be fair, it was probably inappropriate considering how little you two had actually talked to one another, but after he hadn't corrected you when the nickname first slipped from your lips (completely unintentionally) a few weeks ago, you had just decided to keep using it.
"Hi, y/n-san, what have you....aw, you've got the last pack," Noya pouted gesturing to your hand and you were embarrassed to admit how long it took you to understand what he meant.
You looked down into your hand, momentarily forgetting what you were holding (surprise, it was still the pretz biscuit chips), and then back to the vending machine to realize that the pack of chips you were holding had actually been the last in the row.
Why did a crush make you so stupid?
"Oh...sorry. Did you want to get the chips?" you asked dumbly.
Noya let out a laugh, shaking his head as he waved his hands around in front of his chest.
"What, haha, you don't have to apologize. I'll just get something else," he told you, still chuckling lightly.
You watched the way his cheeks crunched up and the corners of his eyes crinkled in fascination. Now that his hair was hanging into his face his laughter was even more precious.
"We can share."
You had blurted that out before you could stop yourself.
Noya looked at you in surprise and you felt your cheeks burn up in embarrassment.
Since when did you find it so difficult to function around him? Normally you weren't acting this smitten. Yes, you were always a little nervous around him, but never did it go as far as blurting out thoughts uncontrollably.
You blamed the hair, it was definitely the hair.
Noya's eyes lit up in excitement at your suggestion and his eyes wandered down to the chips in your hands, looking at them like they were a precious treat, before going back to your face.
"Really?" he asked happily.
You couldn't help but smile back at him, your cheeks flushing a little bit more as he stared at you with twinkling eyes and a beaming smile.
"Yeah, sure."
You opened the bag before holding it towards Noya to underline the offer. He reached inside to get out a huge chunk of chips to stuff it all in his mouth in one go. It made him look like a chipmunk and you couldn't help but giggle at his antics, your eyes once again wandering to his natural hair.
You fished out a few biscuit chips as well, nibbling on the snack absent-mindedly. You wondered if his hair felt just as soft as it looked like if you ran your fingers through it.
"Is anything on my face?" Noya asked suddenly, pulling you back from your weird thought process.
"What, no, i don't think so, why?"
Why did you have to stutter around right now?
"You're staring at me," he pointed out, grinning cockily when he noticed the blush on your cheeks deepen.
"Oh...it's just," you shrugged, looking down at the bag of chips in your hands awkwardly, "Your hair looks different."
For some reason Noya's cheeks were tinted pink now, as well. You noticed when you looked up at him through your lashes to see if he was totally put off by your comment or not.
He looked more embarrassed than you had expected.
Why that was you didn't know. Did he not think you would notice?
"Oh, yeah...i've showered," he stated matter-of-factly, as if you haven't already figured.
His hand reached upwards to scratch his neck and he looked away from you and your staring eyes.
Wait, was he embarrassed because of his hair?
When that thought hit you panic followed almost immediately, flooding your stomach with full impact. You had made Noya uncomfortable. He probably thought you meant different in a bad way! You totally fucked this up.
"What, no!" you shouted, cringing at how loud your voice had gotten and you quickly tried to adjust the volume to the quiet atmosphere of the corridor. "I...i didn't mean it looks bad or anything."
You waved your hands hastily around if only to bring your genuine intentions across.
He shouldn't think you didn't like his hair! That was the last thing you wanted.
"It looks good, i mean. I was just surprised, is all."
Did you just say his hair looked good?
The deepening blush in his cheeks was answer enough.
You just said his hair looked good.
Way to go, y/n.
"Oh...thanks, y/n/n-san."
Noya was smiling again and it managed to calm a little of your anxiety down, just enough so you were only slightly on edge again.
If you weirded him out, at least he knew how to hide it well.
The two of you stood there eating in silence for a few minutes, the only sound audible was the rustling of the bag and cracking of the chips once in a while. It was nice. You didn't know Nishinoya was someone who could just be quiet for a little, he seemed like such a high energy loud guy usually.
"So tell me, y/n/n-san," the libero started, his voice suddenly serious as he stared at you intensely. You swallowed thickly, wondering what suddenly changed his mood. He looked so determined. You expected the worst to come but then... "WHAT'S IT LIKE TO SHARE A ROOM WITH OUR LOVELY KIYOKO-SAN?"
His hands clenched to fists at his side and his eyes sparkled.
You just stared at him. Then you started laughing.
"You're such a weirdo, Noya-san,” you told him, shaking your head in amusement.
He just grinned, looking almost proud he made you laugh with just being goofy.
"But uhm...it's alright, i guess. I mean, she's really nice! Extremely nice! The other girls are, too," you told him but your thoughts drifted off to the topic of sleep when the room you all shared in training camp was brought up again.
If you couldn't sleep than you'd be useless for the next few days. You wouldn't be able to help the boys with their training as well as before and you'd disappoint them and Kiyoko-chan.
You'd disappoint Noya.
"Hey...you don't sound so happy," the boy noticed, his features etched together in concern as he was eyeing you, "do you not like it here in Tokyo?"
Shit! You didn't mean to let your panic flow into your words and worry him.
"It's nothing, Noya-san! Don't worry."
"You can tell me!" he insisted, pointing a thumb at his chest. "You're our manager now, too! Means you don't just take care of us, we take care of you, too."
Are you crying internally? Maybe.
"It's just kinda stupid...you'll laugh," you try to wave it off, hoping Noya would just let the topic rest when he noticed you didn't want to talk about it.
He was Noya, so he didn't.
"I won't!" he insisted, a determined look in his eyes.
You had to look away because your cheeks were flushing again. The thought of just telling him goodnight and leaving crossed your mind, but you knew now that Nishinoya was aware something was bothering you, he would not let it rest.
You contemplated whether or not to tell him, avoiding his eyes that were still fixated on you. His stare made you feel all dizzy.
"I'm just a little homesick," you mumbled, fumbling with the half-empty bag in your hands.
You hoped that explanation was enough for him, the thought of telling him the real reason you were feeling upset made your heart drop to your stomach.
You didn't want to sound like a child, especially not in front of a boy you had a crush on.
"Oh....why would you think i'd laugh about that? It's okay to miss home!"
You gulped, eyes trained on your panda socks (ups, how embarrassing) as you tried to build up the courage to continue.
"It's not just homesickness," you swallowed thickly, the nervousness crawling at your throat. "I've never slept anywhere but home because I was too scared. My mom always had to pick me up from sleepovers because I'd start crying...."
The silence that followed after was unbearable. You wished for nothing else but a hole to open up and swallow you all at once.
Nishinoya must think you were being a total baby.
And he would be right about that. You were being a total baby. What 15 year old couldn't be away from home for a night? You were pathetic.
"And you've still decided to come to Tokyo with us? y/n/n-san, you're so badass!"
You looked up in shock at the libero's words, not believing what you've heard him say. Noya was gaping at you, his eyes wide in admiration and excitement.
"Wha-what?" you choked out.
"You're really brave if you knew you would be scared and still decided to come with us to Tokyo!" Noya explained, grinning widely.
You stared at him. When he said it like that it sounded so easy, like there was no other way to see it. Like you were in fact a badass for deciding to join them for trainingscamp.
You lowered your gaze in embarrassment when you remembered that you really weren't.
"I don't...i don't know. Don't you think it's weird?" you asked quietly, glancing at Noya.
"Nah, everyone is scared of something," he reassured, eyeing you with seriousness, "I used to be scared of anything when i was a kid until my grandfather taught me not to be."
"Oh."
Noya’s face lit up.
"I can try to teach you, too!" , he exclaimed excitedly, already clenching his fists in determination, staring at you with glowing eyes.
You gave him a thankful smile. Noya-san was always so nice to everyone and it warmed your heart he wanted to help you with your fears.
Although you doubted you could be taught to be less of a scaredy cat.
When you told him that Noya only shook his head, already having decided on making you his project it seemed, as he grabbed your wrist and grinned at you.
"Let's try!"
His voice held the same tone as when he told his team to trust him with a particular difficult serve and you had no other choice but to nod in defeat.
There was no way you were able to change his mind at this point.
His face lit up a little more at that. Or maybe you were just imagining things now.
"What happens if you try to sleep anywhere by home?" he questioned, turning very serious.
You shrugged, trying vehemently to ignore Noya’s hand gripping your wrist.
"I get scared."
"Why?"
You let out a heavy sigh, looking down at the floor once more. You wish you knew. Maybe you could actually do something against it if you did.
"Fears aren't rational, Noya"
"No, but think about it. Why do you think you get scared?" he asked, squeezing your skin between his fingers in a reassuring way.
You took a moment, racking your brain for possibilities or origins of your childish fear. Why didn’t you like sleeping anywhere else than home?
Did you miss your parents? Yeah, sure, but that wasn’t it. What else could be a reason that you couldn’t sleep anywhere but home? Maybe you didn’t feel as safe?
Was it because you didn’t feel safe without your parents there? Was ist because your own home provided a safety you trusted in more than with other places?
...Yeah, that must be it. Home was a safe place and anywhere away was just too far away.
"I...i don't feel as safe as home. I mean, it's so far away," you explained, looking up at Noya again, who was studying you with a thoughtful expression on his face.
"Mh," he hummed, removing his hand from your wrist to instead stroke his chin in thought.
His features looked even softer illuminated in the blue light, you noticed. Especially with his hair worn down. He just looked...cuter like this.
He should definitely wear it like this more often.
“I have an idea, come on,” Noya yalled out suddenly, cruelly shaking you out of your daydreams involving him.
Before you could protest Noya had already grabbed your wrist once more and started pulling you into the direction of the staircases. The bag of chips had fallen out of your hand due to your surprise at his actions, sadly floating to the floor.
You were pulled up the stairs, deciding to go along with it, because well, for one it was Noya and you’d probably go along with everything as long as he was the one to ask you. But also, you were curious what exactly the boy’s idea was and where he planned to bring you.
The both of you climbed up the stairs in a breathtaking tempo, all the stairs, way up until you’ve arrived at the rooftop.
Noya pushed the door open with his shoulder, not letting go off your hand (since when was he holding your hand?), as he turned towards you and gestured for you to go first. A wide grin stretched across his face.
The cool night air hit your legs as soon as you stepped outside, a strange contrast to the warm palm against yours. The difference of temperature made you shiver slightly.
You looked around, hoping to see why the libero had brought you to this place in the first place, but saw nothing of significance. Turning to look at Noya again, you raised your brows in question.
He was still holding your hand, you noticed with a downward glance. The boy followed your gaze, noticing the prolonged contact of your skin, too, and quickly let go. His cheeks turned a pretty shade of pink.
Noya scratched his neck, awkwardly laughing a little, before he looked away from you again.
“Uh, you like astronomy, right?” he asked, voice quiet.
You gaped at him.
“You know that?”
You hated how breathless your voice sounded. Because him knowing that...was Noya paying attention to you, more than you thought?
He looked confused that you’d even ask such a question.
“Of course, you’re always talking about it.”
Your heart swelled at his words, chest growing warm at the thought that Noya cared enough to know about the stuff you were interested in.
Your cheeks heated up against your will.
“What’s your favorite star, y/n-san?”
You didn’t even have to think about that.
“Sirius,” you uttered, smiling softly, “it’s the brightest star in the night sky. I can see it from my bedroom window.”
Noya’s face lit up at your answer. He turned his gaze upwards, his eyes searching the night sky eagerly.
“Which one ist it?” he asked, sounding so excited your heart squeezed in your chest.
You smiled, finding it endearing how intrigued he looked to be. Maybe he was just trying to cheer you up like this. Maybe this was his grand idea.
You didn’t mind it one bit.
You stepped beside him, raising your arm to point in the direction of Sirius. Noya scooted closer, resting his head right next to your shoulder to directly follow the line of your finger.
You felt one of his soft strands tickle your cheek and you flushed when the urge to reach out and care your fingers through his hair overcame you.
“That one,” you whispered, trying hard not to get lost in the soft and open expression on his face.
Noya’s eyes searched around for a bit before they settled on a spot. Judging by the wide grin on his face he had found the star you’ve been talking about.
“See, you can see it from here, too. You’re not as far away from home as you think.”
He didn’t even turn to look at you when he said those words, eyes still focused on your favorite star.
You froze, letting the words sink in, slowly turning your head to now openly staring at him.
“Pretty sure you can see it from the girl’s room as well.”, he shrugged, nonchalant.
Your arm fell to your side, and your body moved so you were completely turned towards Noya, eyes wide and open.
You didn’t know why but for some odd reason that made so much sense for you, and with the reassurance that you could look at the same star from up here as from your room your chest felt so much lighter.
And Noya, Noya was just acting so casual, like he hadn’t just turned your world 180°, like he hadn’t made you fall in love with him a thousand times harder that moment.
Looking at him now, shadows dancing across his face, the light of the moon and the stars illuminating his features, that stupidly cute smile still on his face as he continued to look up at the stars, you were glad you had agreed to Kiyoko to become a manager for the team.
You shook yourself out of your stupor, realizing you’d just stared at the boy for several moments. Noya thankfully hadn’t noticed since he was still looking at the stars.
You bowed down deeply, startling Noya, who flinched terribly and blinked down at your hunched form in confusion.
“Thank you so much Noya-san! I feel so much better,” you shouted, putting all your gratefulness into it.
The boy started stuttering as he waved his arms wildly, staring at you with a panicked expression. He had pressed the back of his other hand to his cheek to hide the redness in them.
“Don’t be ridiculous, you don’t have to thank me,” he protested, his voice raising several pitches.
You straighten up again, a soft smile on your lips as you looked up at Noya, who’s face had turned full on pink.
Adorable.
“I mean it,” you told him, smiling widening. “Thank you.”
Noya returned your smile, relaxing again. His hand reached to scratch the back of his neck and he looked away almost bashfully.
“You’re welcome.”
You felt like the remaining days of training camp would be no problem to you now. And not only because of your favorite star in the night sky. But also because of your favorite star standing in front of you.

fem!Miya!reader x Ginjima Hitoshi & Akagi Michinari || part of the Third Miya series
Synopsis: It’s just a courage test. Just a nightly walk through a labyrinth of statues. Even the moon refuses to peek out from behind to clouds to witness your stupidity. Oh, did I mention there've been ghosts sighting here? There've been ghost sightings here.
Warnings: cursing, some spooky atmosphere, spooky things happen, some prime examples of sibling love
wc: 2.3k
a/n: should I post this chapter after the one establishing Reader's friendship with the team? Yeah, probably. also what I could do is write a little author's note that Reader is a friend with all the boys on the team and move on from there, ya know?
In case you missed previous chapters, Twins call their sister San, while others simply refer to her as Miya. (I'm experimenting and trying to use y/n as little as possible. lemme know if you like it).
if you wanna be tagged in future chapters lemme know and as always feedback is greatly appreciated!
Tumblr media
Nothing scared you.
Well, except Mr-No-Gaps Kita Shinsuke but you're pretty sure there isn't a being on this planet that wouldn't be afraid of him so that disqualifies him from this particular competition; or mom that one time she discovered nobody had taken the trash out even though she said to do it several times. And the dark sometimes. And ghosts! Ghosts are spooky. You can't punch a ghost
But other than that nothing scared you.
Tumblr media
This nightly walk though is making you reconsider the statement. Maybe the time has come for you to put 'dark' and 'weird noises whose origin you can't see' to the top of the list. Shivers run up your spine and you step faster, closer to Ginjima beside you. He gives you a questioning glance but luckily doesn't say anything. You hope he won't mention it later either. The only thing worse than your brothers finding out what a scaredy cat you're being right now is... Well, nothing would be worse than that.
The Gallery Tangle is what this place is called and you find the name strangely fitting. Stone statues, some crumbling and all overgrown with moss, stand lined by the path going in twists and turns. No matter where you turn cold unseeing eyes watch you. If you were the one choosing the name for this place it would be something along the lines of 'that corner nobody in their right mind would ever go close too'. Some people believe it used to be a cemetery but really it's just a meadow where someone left an unwanted statue once, and then another, and before you knew crowds of curious tourists and stupid teenagers visited the place all the time. Even the moon refuses to peek out from behind to clouds to witness your stupidity. Oh, did I mention there've been ghosts sighting here? There've been ghost sightings here.
So naturally it's the perfect place for a courage test. The only one at fault for this entire situation is Osamu for daring Akagi and Ginjima to go visit the site, and you for falling for his trap when he turned to you and, with that annoyingly sweet voice pretending he's a caring older brother who's just looking out for his little sister, said: “Thank the heaven yer too much of a baby to go out of the house after sunset.“
Yeah well, maybe you are and he knows it, and he also knows the easiest way to get you to do something is to tell you you don't have the guts. It's all a well tested trap you keep falling into. Walking amongst countless silent statues you want to ponder how the mice traps are always so obvious and yet the mice keep falling for them like dummies, but that would be a silly thought to have in the middle of the night and taking your current circumstances into consideration also incredibly hypocritical.
Nothing much scared you, except for Kita Shinsuke, but if you were given a chance to get help from one person right now you'd chose him. As much as the mere thought of him makes you straighten up and check if your clothes are on point you're sure ghosts and demons and other creatures of the night would rethink once or twice before coming closer to bother you. Not to be rude but he'd probably be a better ghost repellent than trembling Ginjima beside you who at the moment is being more of a ghost attractor. Can ghosts sense fear? Apparently even horses can smell fear so why would ghosts be any different? Maybe better for that question to go unanswered.
“Are ya sure we're goin' in the right direction?“ asks Gin.
“Maybe.“
“Akagi-san ya do know that's not the answer we wanna hear right now, right?“
“I'm yer senpai so I can't lie to ya,“ answers Akagi and you wish he wasn't your senpai so you could give him the well deserved kick in the shin. As Osamu would put it, getting a straight answer out of him was sometimes harder than eating udon noodles with only one chopstick. Your smart-ass replied with 'Just drink them', which was a funny response at the time, a justifiable enough reason for Osamu to slap your head, but in the end this solution didn't really apply to the libero. “We're takin' a little detour to avoid inhabitants of this place,“ Akagi says and if you didn't know him better you'd think his words were meant to reassure you.
“Ya mean the statues? I don't think they really mind us trespassin'.“
“Ah no, not the statues.“ He turns and points his torch up to light up his face. “I meant ghosts.“
“Ha ha, very funny,“ you say pretending a shiver didn't just run up your spine. Your hold on your own torch tightens.
“Skepticism doesn't suit ya Miya. There's a ghost of a little boy hidin' round here. Ever since his old house was demolished he walks around lookin' for his parents.“
“Sure he does,“ you answer and quickly change the topic because if Akagi doesn't stop you're sure Gin will climb in your arms and the question if you're strong enough to carry him is another one you don't want to know the answer to. “Where did Samu say he left the scarf?“
When Ginjima answers his voice is strangely high pitched: “By the statue of an old lady with a cat.“
Akagi nods. “We should split up so-“
“No!“ you and Ginjima half yell.
“We could get lost,“ you add, feeling heat rise on your cheeks.
“Exactly,“ Ginjima agrees, “look how many statues there are! It's a labyrinth 'round here!“
Akagi gives in without much convincing with a gleam in his eyes you really don't like because it looks suspiciously similar to the gleam Atsumu has before blackmailing you with one of too many embarrassing things he knows. “Right, right, last time I was here the cat lady was on the other end.“
“Was?“ Ginjima follows close behind and you're just glad to have you back covered.
“Statues move sometimes. Usually when no one is lookin'.“
“Funny,“ is all you say.
Still, as you continue the expedition you don't let your gaze wander around. It's not like you could see anything anyway. It's too dark! At least that's what you keep telling yourself. Anything could hide out there.
You shudder. Why did you think it was a good idea to leave without taking a hoodie? As if summer nights aren't chilly. Or maybe you just walked past a cold spot where ghosts linger. Now that sounds like something Akagi would tell you.
You're acutely aware of how close Ginjima is walking and you're glad he is. His shoulder bumping into yours every now and then and the sound of his steps are the last things keeping you from letting your imagination run free.
That's the thing about imagination. It makes the pile of unfolded clothes look like a child crawling out of the floor. It makes sitting stone statues seem to blink and turn their heads when you pass by.
When you nervously glance over at Ginjima you notice he's clenching his jaw so hard you start fearing for his teeth. He puts you at ease. As much as that is possible while walking in the dead of night around seemingly endless line of statues. If he was as carefree as Akagi you would, all your foolish pride be damned, most likely burst into tears right then and there.
The nearby bushes rustle and maybe it's just the wind, or a cat on a nightly adventure, or maybe it's something entirely different, but whatever it is lures you into making the mistake of looking over at the statues, where you catch a pale face with unblinking eyes behind long, black hair staring back at you. You scream. Jump, trip over a stone and end in Ginjima's arms, your ears ringing from the high pitched shriek you presume is his.
Akagi jumps too and points his torch around to see what made both of you finally lose the brave facade. He searches around the statues but there's nothing to be found. “It's gone now.“
“Ya sure?“
“What was it?“
“A white face and... black hair.“
“So, a ghost?“ asks Akagi and you nod, holding tightly on Gin as if your life depended on it. A sly smile spreads across Akagi's face. “See, I told ya there's ghosts.“
“Not helpin' ,“ says Gin as Akagi's words make you shudder.
Only then does it hit you Ginjima is holding you bridal style and you swiftly climb back down, still shaken and now completely embarrassed as well. You don't even dare think how much bribing will take to convince Akagi to keep his mouth shut about this. Oh, if your brothers find out they will never let you live it down.
“Maybe we should go home,“ suggests Ginjima still holding you up because your knees turned to pudding.
“Like hell we are,“ you sneer, the blood rush turning fear into burning determination. If this is what it takes to shut Samu's annoying shit mouth, then so be it. “Cat lady, right? I bet she's this way.“ You pick up your torch light and head into the wrong direction.
“Miya, we have to go right,“ Akagi calls after you.
“I am goin' right!“
“The other right.“
You turn on your heels and head into the 'other right' direction. You think you hear Akagi snicker. Step by step your sudden burst of determination and fearlessness drains but like hell are you going to show it. It's just ghosts and spooky demons and maybe some cursed children, what are they going to do? Scare you? Joke's on them, you're already scared! And cold, and embarrassed, and you just want to find that damn scarf already and go home.
It waits neatly wrapped around the cat's neck. It's eyes have an almost mocking look. As if the stone is judging you for taking on this courage test in the first place. Well, you think, it ain't wrong.
“There, now we can go,“ you proclaim when your trembling fingers finally manage to unknot the silky fabric, and as if some cruel fate or inhabitants of this eerie place watched you only a few statues away something rustles.
All three of you freeze and listen. In the distance you can hear cars driving by. A late night train stops by the station.
“What was that?“ asks Gin.
You stuff the scarf into your pocket. “Doesn't matter, we got what we-“
“Let's go check it out!“
“O hell no,“ is the first thing that leaves your mouth but for some reason Akagi thinks it's a sunny Sunday afternoon and the perfect time for a stroll.
“Let's go,“ Gin nudges you to get you to follow Akagi but you don't budge.
“No.“
“He's our senpai Miya, we can't just let him wander off.“ He lowers his voice. “He might get in trouble.“
“Let him. I've had enough of this place,“ you say and head into the opposite direction. Ginjima hesitates, casts a few lost glances between you and Akagi before he decides the prospect of something happening to you would get him into much bigger trouble. “Are ya okay?“ he asks when he catches up.
You give a stiff nod. All you want is to get away from this place.
It doesn't take long for Akagi to come running back. “It was nothin',“ he says, out of breath and smiling as always but if you'd pay more attention you'd notice he's a bit paler.
And you are about to find out why.
A white figure appears from behind one of the statues, howling and shrieking, or maybe that's Akagi and Ginjima. Your heart stops for a mere moment before jumping into overdrive. You grip your torch, step back with one leg to gain momentum, and chuck your only source of light into what you guess is ghosts head.
“Aargh!“ shrieks the ghost before it starts screaming its lungs out at you, “Are ya stupid?! Ya could've hurt me ya shithead!“ It pulls the sheet off to reveal a very irritated Atsumu rubbing his forehead where the torchlight hit him. “OW!“ he shrieks again when you kick his shin. You'd probably kick him again for good measure if another figure, this one clad in black and with an oni mask, didn't jump from behind the statues and scare you into leaping in the air. The figure laughs and avoids the kick aimed at it's knee. “Samu!“ you shriek. “This isn't funny!“
“It is a little,“ says Akagi and to his luck he's your senpai and standing out of your reach. At least Ginjima doesn't look amused by your utter embarrassment.
In an effort to regain some of your pride you pull out the scarf and chuck it into Osamu's face. “Here, yer kitchen cloth.“
“San don't speak about mom's clothes like that,“ teases Atsumu who at the stare you send him immediately takes a careful step back.
Osamu pinches your cheeks and not even a death glare stops his teasing: “Maybe ya ain't such a baby after all. But ya do scream like one.“
“Absolutely hilarious,“ you deadpan. “Who was the white faced lady? Suna?“
“What white face?“
“Don't play with me ya shit pig. The one that almost gave Gin a heart attack!“
“Ya screamed louder than me-“
“That wasn't us,“ your brothers shake their head. You don't believe them because, why would you?
Akagi bursts into laughter. “Maybe ya saw a real ghost after all!“
A... a real... ghost. The rest of you exchange uncomfortable glances.
Gin is the first to speak. “It's gettin' a little chilly. Maybe we should,“ he gestures towards the path, and you nod, enthusiastically.
“It is gettin' late. We'll hear it if we come home past curfew,“ says Osamu.
Walking away you don't want to look back but something compels you to throw a quick glance over your shoulder. Wide unblinking eyes stare as you leave, face ghostly white and almost glowing in the dead of night.
Or maybe it's just your imagination.

hi i loved your helping karasuno during a game hc’s and i was wondering if you could do one for nekoma ?
Due to popular demand, here it is! I wrote with the ones I was the most comfortable with, so I hope you guys enjoy!!
Calming Down Nekoma in a Match
———————————————————
Kuroo
- “God, all these Nohebi players are pricks.” “Kuroo, they might hear-” “Kenma, look at my face. Do I look like I care?”
- runs a hand through his already sweaty hair frustratedly as he gulps down water, eyes taking on a menacing edge as the team all simutaneously take a step away from the pissed-off captain
- “Nekomata-sensei…” “Don’t worry. We have luck on our side.” “What do you-?” “Get (Y/N) down here. Now.”
- gets riled up immensely so much to the point where he begins making mistakes, allowing the toxic words from the other team to get to him until he gets subbed out
- legit the whole team is shook because the captain was no longer playing, messing up the flow that they’re usually able to keep intact
- leans against the wall with a pissed-off expression as he dares the players of the other team to look his way, blinking when a pair of arms is suddenly on either side of his body
- Yaku has to stop the team from laughing at how funny it looked: your adorable figure was trapping Kuroo against the wall with both arms as he stared down at you. unblinking
- stiff posture relaxes immediately, pissed-off expression forming into one of amusement and confusion
- “Came to visit?” the side of his lips quirk up, feeling the tension slip his chest as you look up at him sternly, refusing to let him leave his spot on the wall before your arms suddenly wrap around his torso
- “What are you so mad for? You’re playing so well.” You pout, looking up at him as your front body presses up against his in a hug. “And you’re the one who told me to come because you were gonna win. Were you wrong in saying that?”
- looks at you for a second before his hand gently strokes your cheek, feeling his breathing even out before taking a deep breath, determination brimming his eyes as you grin. You had done it.
- “Nope. I wasn’t wrong at all when saying that.” leans down towards you, feral eyes playful as his lips form a smirk, eyes twinkling in amusement as he pulls you in.
- flips off the staring Nohebi team as he plants his lips on yours for a good fifteen seconds, looking energized as he jogs back on to the court away from your flushed figure
-bro wtf we get it you have a gf
- “Kuroo, there are children-” “Lev and Shibuyama can get over it. Let’s win this.”
- Nekomata sensei lets you sit next to him throughout the rest of the game, and when Nekoma manages to win their third set, Kuroo jogs over to you before quite literally sweeping you off your feet, picking you up bridal style as he peppers kisses all over your cheeks
- “Kuroo, please let me go-!”
- “Never.” His forehead rests against yours.
-“You’re too good to let go, I can’t help myself.”
Kenma
-You never thought you’d see the day where Kenma would lose his cool
- It was a match against Fukurodani, and you could tell Kenma was becoming more and more irate as Bokuto’s speed was too much to allow him to think
- Kenma’s sets begin to lack strength, signalling he was lessening the amount of pressure he was using in his arms to set the ball up as he got more and more lost within his mind
- The Nekoma team blinks when Kenma’s set doesn’t even rise above the net
- Luckily, Fukunaga comes in to set in his place when Kenma gets benched, eyes downcast on the floor as the team legit freaks out
- Yamamoto stop freaking out baby pls
- like what are they supposed to do without the brain of the team? all connection would suddenly become lost without Kenma
-Kuroo is legit looking at Kenma with a we-say-a-fucking-chant-for-you-before-the-game-are-you-kidding-me look before whipping out his phone in the middle of time out
-poor love feels pressured as he sits on the bench, trying to make himself calm as the irritation bubbles in his stomach
- “Hey uh, Y/N, you’re watching this, right?” “ I can see Kenma looks a tad frustrated.” “You’re his girlfriend! Do something!” “What?”
- You snap your phone shut before leaving the stands to enter the gym floor, ignoring the stares you were getting from the audience to see that Nekoma had called a time-out, the other team sitting at set point
- “Kenma, Bokuto has a stupid amount of strength and you know that-” “Kuroo. I don’t care. Don’t lecture me.”
- silently, you shoo the surrounding members of the team away from Kenma as you take the unoccupied seat next to him, remaining quiet for a few seconds before you hear him sigh lightly
- “You shouldn’t be down here.” “Yet here I am!”
- doesn’t react when you take his hand, tracing your finger over the lines on his hands as your thumb runs back and forth soothingly on his skin
- “It’s just a game.” You say finally, nudging him in the side with your shoulder before resting your head on his. “Think about it this way. The faster you win this, the faster you can finally beat me at Smash Bros.”
- “You’ve won once.” “Doesn’t matter! You still lost!”
- scoffs a little at your fuming face before feeling the air circulation in his lungs allow him to breathe a little easier, glancing down at your bright grin before he sighs, as if this were the most troublesome thing
-shut up kenma you know you love them
-“Fine then. Rematch. After this.”
- “After this. Now will you hurry up and win already?”
- As he stands, you press your lips to his knuckle quickly, not enough to make him flustered, but enough for him to smile the smallest of smiles at you -
-until it disappears as soon as Kuroo comes to drag him back into the game
- “You’re a miracle worker.” “I do what I can.” “Will you two stop high-fiving each other? I’m still here.” “Kenma, don’t be jealous.”
- rolls his eyes as he makes his way back into the game, feeling complete serenity flow back trough his mind as the Nekoma team finally takes back the points they had missed
-so when they win, he’s already walking back to your sitting figure on the bench before plopping down in his previous seat, rummaging through his duffel before emerging with a switch
- “You don’t want to celebrate with your screaming team?” You question as he pops off a controller. He blinks before standing up, offering you his hand.
- “You’re right. Let’s get out of here. Before Kuroo drags us.”
- You laugh, grasping his hand as he leads you out of the gym. Without turning back to look at you, his grip tightens ever so slightly.
- “Hey (Y/N)?” “Hm?”
- “Thank you.”
Yaku
- “Don’t mind, Yakkun!” “Lev, you’re the last person I want to be telling me not to mind.”
-Yaku you made the baby sad stop being a hoe
- Irate baby frustratedly wipes the sweat trailing down the bridge of his nose when another ball slams down into the floor before his hand can reach in between it
- grinds his teeth together as the whistle seems to blow in his ears, his nails biting into his clenched fist as Kai flinches from trying to help him off the floor
- “I’m so off my game today.” “Yaku, you’re doing great-” “Kai, don’t touch me. I mean it.”
- creates an air that’s almost suffocating as he becomes more and more irritable, effecting his overall performance
- flinches when he gets switched out with Shibuyama, who was trembling as they switched numbers, Yaku pulling it a little more harshly than necessary
- “Hello love!”
- darkened eyes soften at your grinning figure standing by the bench before darkening again, taking a seat without paying much mind to you
- doesn’t even look at you as he pops the cap to his water bottle “So you saw me play. Like that. What are you even doing down here?”
- Unfazed, you stand in front of your libero boyfriend with your hands on your hips, noting the clench of his fists and tightened jaw before reaching your hand out
- seems to relax at your touch when you stroke his cheek gently, smiling softly down at him as his arms slowly snake around your waist, pulling you closer as his breaths begin to steady
- “I’m sorry.” “There’s nothing to be sorry for. You’re playing great, love. I’m always proud of how you play, you’re the one who stands out the most on the court! Do you know how proud that makes me?”
- his eyes lose their darkened glare as he stares up at you, his grip on his water bottle loosening as he takes a deep breath, standing as he looks down at you
- “What would I do without you?” “Cry, probably.”
- quirks an eyebrow at your cheeky response before pressing his lips against your forehead, smiling down at you without a trace of his previous anger
- “Let’s go on a date after this.” “But the team dinner...?” “Nope. Just you and me.”
- kisses you on the tip of your nose before ensuring you get to the stands okay, waving at you when he’s put back in the game
- you smile widely when he fist pumps the air, reaching the top of his game as the atmosphere diminishes completely
- “Lev...I’m s...sor...cOUGH” “it’s okay, Yakkun! We won, and you did so well for someone who’s short!”
- Lev you little shit he’s trying
- is about to kick Lev in the shin until you leap into his arms, overjoyed as his hands wrap around your waist to steady you
- “You played so well, love!”
- “It’s all thanks to you, dork.”
- “Kuroo are you crying?” “I...Yakkun just never looks this nice!”
Lev
-“Lev, you could’ve gotten that-“ “I know! My receives still suck, I’m sorry.”
- the whole team blanches at Lev’s irate and borderline depressed self, knowing how low their attack power went if he isn’t at the top of his game
- “Kenma-San, please set to me less.” Literally gets so sad omg baby no
- Kenma being Kenma, shrugs and nods as the whistle blows, signaling the start of the next rally as Lev slowly becomes more and more downhearted
- when his next spike gets into the net, his spike usually being the one thing he has confidence in, he makes eye contact with his coach before he’s promptly benched
- “That one girl Lev never shuts up about...is she here?” “Uh, probably, sensei-“ “Go find her.”
- Within the next few minutes, you’re jogging into the gym after receiving a text from Inuoka, eyes brimmed with concern as you see your boy hunched over on the bench
- “what’s with him?” “I don’t know, his receives were off and I think that eventually effected his spikes...”
- ignoring the questioning stares of the people who noticed you, you give Lev a hug from behind, causing him to jump before relaxing into your touch
- “...(Y/N).”
- “Heyo, cutie.” You flirt, resting your chin on the top of his head as you hug him from his sitting position. “Come here often?”
- chuckles at your cute actions before his shoulders slump over again “Sorry you have to see me suck this bad...I bragged and everything.”
- “sorry, who are you?”
-blinks, thinking you’re still trying to flirt with him before spinning around on the bench to face you with a questioning stare
- “The Lev I know is the ace of the Nekoma team...right now I don’t really know who you are? Are you an imposter?”
- laughs, long arms finding your waist as he pulls you closer to him “Nope. I’m the real thing.”
- “Then go be the ace.” You say, hands cupping his cheeks. “They’re relying on you. And I’m here to support you. Always.”
- looks at you in awe for a moment before furrowing his brows and nodding, feeling soothed as you run your hands through his bright hair
- he pinches your waist, his cat-like grin passing over his face when you yelp, causing you to land in his lap as you blush
-digs his face into your neck as if he was recharging himself as you embarrassedly try to push him off before he sighs deeply and sets you down next to him
-when he stands and glances back, his eyes glint as he smiles at you lovingly
- “Don’t stop watching me.”
- so as you watch from the stands as Lev slams down the winning point, he blows you a kiss with a wink from the winning line-up as you roll your eyes
- “That was kind of cute, I guess.” You cross your arms when he comes to get you from the stands, pulling you into a tight hug as he smiles into your hair.
- “Good. You were watching.”
- “I never stopped.”

Happy Birthday Noya
- Yu Nishinoya x fem reader, no warnings, fluffy and cute! Small references to making babies but nothing detailed, enjoy!
———————
“Noya?” You said tugging on the older boy’s shirt.
“Yeah y/n?”
“Do you really mean it? Like, pinky promise mean it?” He laughed and ruffled your hair.
“Of course I mean it! I’ll marry you when we’re all grown up and we’ll have a proper family together. We’ll have a big house and loads of animals and we can travel together and laugh and dance all the time!” He clasped your smaller hands in his and locked your gaze. His eyes sparkled and your heart sped up in your chest.
“I’ll be with you forever y/n!”
———————
That was ten years ago now and you hadn’t spoken to the libero in almost three years. He was a year your senior in school, and when he’d moved from junior high to high school his devotion to volleyball and his beloved Kiyoko drew his attention away from you for long enough that you just dissolved from his view. You weren’t close anymore, and he’d stopped proposing marriage to you when he’d turned twelve and learnt how babies were made, suddenly the promise of having children with you one day was a bit too much for his brain to handle. You’d promised yourself that you would move on too like he had, but no one could ever hold a candle to your Noya.
“Y/n!” Your best friend Yachi was waving her hand in your face as you gazed out of the window in a day dream. You were abruptly brought back to reality as she giggled softly.
“God you are all over the place today! What’s up?” She seemed concerned but masked it with a friendly smile.
“Nothing really, it’s just...” you sighed placing your chin in your hand and leaning on the table in front of you.
“I didn’t realise Nishinoya’s birthday affected you this much y/n.” Just hearing his name sent tears to your eyes, and you tried to blink them away before Yachi saw but it was no use.
“Oh y/n, you really miss him don’t you?” That’s all it took for you to break down at your desk. You really did miss that boy. Yachi pulled you to the girls toilet by your classroom and helped wipe your tears away and blot away the redness from your cheeks. You were thankful to have her in your life. She was the only one who knew about your past with him and the only one who’d you’d felt comfortable enough with to confide in about your love for Noya.
“You could always come to practise tonight and see him again?” She kept trying to get you to go to practise with her after school ever since she became the club manager. You’d met some of the first years, namely Kageyama and Hinata, but you would just feel way too awkward.
“No that’s such a bad idea. One, I have no reason to be there, and two he wouldn’t even remember me.” She scoffed at you and rolled her eyes.
“I can say you’re waiting for me because we have a project or we’re walking home together, and he’ll totally remember you. You’re gonna get married remember?” She teased, poking you in the sides until you let a giggle escape your lips. You tried pushing her hands away but it was no use, she’d gotten you to laugh so loudly that a teacher had to come in and tell you two to shut it and get back to class. You did as you were told, and both hurried back to class, but not before Yachi got you to promise to go to practise with her after school.
———————
You knew this was a bad idea, and that was only reinforced when Yachi pulled you into the gym and had all the players greet you. You smiled and said hi back but it was obvious you were uncomfortable. In the end though they didn’t even ask why you were there and the coach didn’t seem to mind so you just took a seat on the edge of the bench and watched.
You couldn’t bring yourself to look at Noya, you hadn’t even been able to say hi to him when you’d walked in behind Yachi, not that he’d even came over to say hi anyway. You were fiddling with your hands when you heard a familiar voice shouting your name.
“Y/n! Hey!” You looked to see Hinata waving at you as he rushed in late to practise.
“What are you doing here?” He offered you a smile and you gave him one right back.
“O-oh, I’m just waiting for Yachi. I’m staying at hers tonight.” He nodded and waved to Yachi.
“That’s cool! You said hey to Noya yet? I’m sure-“ He was interrupted by a volleyball to the back of the head and an icy glare from Asahi, silently telling him to back off. You went a little pale when he said Noya’s name but tried to act as calmly as possible. He ran off, throwing an apology Noya’s way and just shrugged at Kageyama when he asked him how he was so stupid. Yachi nudged you and smiled.
“Nishinoya is blushing right now.” You dared a peak over at the boy and sure enough he was. Kiyoko was slightly giggling beside you and there was an air of nervousness flowing through the boys. You felt as though just being there was making things way too tense, so you made an excuse and left despite Yachi begging you not to.
Stepping outside into the cold fresh air of October was relaxing. You’d always liked the colder months, being able to wrap yourself in layer upon layer. It was also an excuse to bring out the old scarf Noya gave you as a present when you two were younger.
“You still have that old thing?”
You were frozen in place, your hand reaching up to the scarf around your neck.
“Wow, I’m impressed. Thought you would have thrown that out years ago.” He chuckled next to you, the sound sending you hurtling back to your childhood together.
“Hey Noya.” It came out as barely a whisper, but he heard you.
“Been a while, hasn’t it?” He was fidgeting next to you, obviously uncomfortable with your presence.
“Look I’m so sorry for coming I-“ you stopped talking when you turned to face him and saw the rosey blush dusting his cheeks and the smile playing on his lips.
“Happy birthday.” He looked startled for a second, but his eyes softened into your gaze.
“You remembered?” Nodding eagerly you smiled back at him.
“I always remember, every year.” He let out a sigh and dropped his gaze to the ground, kicking up a small cloud of dust.
“I’m really sorry for disappearing on you y/n. I shouldn’t have left you like that.”
“Oh, thanks. I mean, you were growing up and needed space. I get that.”
“But I didn’t want space from you. I still don’t. I just thought...” he sighed and kicked the ground again, his voice shaken.
“I thought you’d be happier with your friends in your own year. That I wasn’t fun for you anymore, that you didn’t enjoy my company.” In that moment you realised he hadn’t dropped you because he’d moved on, but the opposite. He’d felt that he wasn’t good enough for you.
“Noya.” Your voice was louder this time, but soft and warm. He raised his eyes back up to meet yours. The soft hazel seemingly melting under your gaze.
“How could I hate the company of the man I’m gonna marry?” You smiled at this, a playful lilt in your words. He blushed at you and a smile broke out across his whole face.
“To be honest y/n, when I found out how babies were made I kind of freaked out.” He playfully joked back, but there was a sense of vulnerability to him.
“Oh god, don’t remind me! When I found out my dad wouldn’t stop going on about how ‘Noya will never do that to his baby girl’” you laughed placing a hand on his arm for support. This was nice.
“Your dad actually asked me to stop talking about marrying you, you know? Said I was gonna stop you from living your life.” Your laughter stopped and you looked up at the libero. “He said I wouldn’t let you meet new people if I kept telling you that we were gonna get married, that you would get too attached and wouldn’t make choices for yourself.”
“He what?” Your voice was harsher now, the anger prevalent in your tone.
“He was just trying to protect you y/n, that’s all.” He raised an eyebrow at your sudden outburst and you felt silly all of a sudden.
“But, if he hadn’t of told me to back off, I’m sure I would have brought you a ring by now.” This caught you totally off guard. Noya had always joked about buying you an engagement ring, but the way he was saying it now you could tell there was no way he was joking.
“I really miss you y/n. I’m still up for marrying you, if you’ll have me?” You blinked at him, his cheeks now burning red and his ears turning a deep shade of pink. This was really happening.
You let out a soft hum and pretended to be lost in thought for a moment before placing a swift kiss on his cheek. His hand flew up to the spot and he stared at you with a mix of bewilderment and pure joy.
“Maybe we should go on a date first before we start picking out the baby names?” He smiled at this and wrapped an arm around your waist, pulling you close to him.
“I’m so okay with that y/n.” He leant in, his nose brushing against yours, silently asking for your permission. You nodded and his lips met yours. He was much softer and calmer than you’d imagined, but it still set fireworks off in your brain. He pulled back after a few moments, his smile wide and eyes sparkling like they did all those years ago.
“You promise you want me? Like pinky promise mean it?” He pulled you impossibly closer to his chest and kissed you again, and that’s exactly the response you needed to calm your nerves.

Adriah Tomas featuring MSBY x GN! Reader (reader is late 20s/early 30s)
Warnings: swearing
A/N: This is an request from @wisdomsunshine!
"What do you like about timeskip?" ITS TIMESKIP!
I mean LOOK AT THESE GUYS!! I CANT IMAGINE A MORE BEAUTIFUL THING 😭
Honestly have I told you all how much I love writing timeskip?
Because I do 🥰
But this isn't about me!
This is about you 😍
Our freaking precious MSBY manager!
Now, you've been manager for a while at this point
Like you were around before Bokuto, Sakusa, Atsumu and Hinata joined
The MSBY senior members thank God everyday for that 😐
Literally imagine if you would have just then thrusted in as manager right as the super volleyball idiots were joining 😬
Anyways, you were kind of like an older sibling to the younger guys
Being in your later 20s gave you alot of life experience that our sweet bbys didn't have
I mean they are literal children YN so please guide them 🤚🏻
For the older players, you were more a friend and someone they respected highly
Everyone adored you and you adored them
BUT 👀 there was a certain someone you who adored a bit more than the rest 🙃
That's right, our residen SIX FOOT SEVEN INCH TITAN MAN
Adriah Tomas 🥰🥰
Have I told you he's 6'7" yet? Because he's 6'7" inches YN...
NE WAYS you had such a crush on that man
Honestly can relate
Seriously what a cutie pie 🥺 with his dark hair and uneven bangs 😫
Please he's also literally the sweetest! He gives those funny, yet incredibly supportive teammate vibes
Plus he's literally always the first to volunteer to help and I stand by that
"Good morning YN! Do you need help?"
"Hey YN let me get that for you!"
"Here YN I opened this jar for you!"
Literally a pro at reaching high shelves ok 🤚🏻
Inunaki teases him about how he is such a simp for you YN
You both blush because AHHH YOU'RE JUST SO CUTE I CAN BAREKY STAND IT 😫
Adriah is a great help with the children younger guys and great at deflecting emo modes
Imagine this 🙌🏻
Bokuto has had the roughest day, missing all the shots
Hesnliterally planked in the middle of the floor
You are standing on the sidelines like 👉🏻🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️
"YN HANDLE THIS!"- Meian tells
You 👉🏻😐 🙄
Please Meian totally throws you under the bus at every chance YN
"Bokuto come on dude, everyone has bad days!"- You say
Bokuto rn 👇🏻
Tumblr media
"YN can you move him we need to practice"- Atsumu
You 👉🏻 😐 WHY IS THIS ALL ON ME?!?!
So you try to logistically figure out how to move 6'3" 190 pound Bokuto off the court
You try pushing, that doesn't work
So you grab his arm and try to pull
Hmm still not working 🤨
Never-fear Yn, our precious giant Adriah is here to help!
"Hey YN, need some help?"
"Yeah I think if we roll him off the courtthay might be our best option"- you 🤔
Leave this to Adriah YN 🤚🏻
This man will literally HEAVE Bokuto over his shoulder andbhaul his ass off the court
You 👉🏻😐😳😲🥵
The team 👉🏻🙄
Bokuto 👉🏻 just flopped over Adriah's shoulder like a child having a tantrum
God we stan this man so hard 😭
So what's the problem you ask?
Why don't you just tell Adriah you like him?
Well you see, while you are 98% sure he likes you
There's a 2% chance he doesn't 🥺
And we CLING to that 2% chance YN
Like what if you confess and he's just like "ummm sorry YN, I don't like you"
Heartbroken 💔 for life, you'll never recover!
Literally Inunaki is so annoyed that you two keep doing this dance around each other
Inunaki is a Libero and he's our team bestie 💅🏼
WE STAN LIBEROS IN THIS HOUSE!
Anyways, Inunaki just so happens to know you like Adriah
And he also just HAPPENS 👀 to know that Adriah likes you
"How does he know that Tiffany?" Well I'm glad you asked
Literally this is how he finds out
He walks into the locker room and says "I think I'm going to ask YN on a date"
Adriah WHIPS his head in Inunaki's direction, standing to his full SIX FOOT SEVEN INCH height and walks over to Inunaki
Inunaki 👉🏻something wrong Adriah 🙃
Adriah 👉🏻😑
"Dont worry big guy, I was just making sure I wasn't wrong before I told you YN likes you"- Inunaki 🕺
Adriah goes through a whole slew of emotions
Because wait... YOU LIKE HIM??
He probably full on panics for a few minutes
Mans maybe confident on the court but he is not confident when it comes to dating
"Stop panicking dude, just ask YN out!"- Meian
"Ok ask YN out... wait how do I ask YN out?"- Adriah
Meian, Barnes and Inunaki 👉🏻 😐🤦🤦‍♂️🤦
"YN really likes <favorite flower> and <favorite food>"- Sakusa
"Ohh YN also really likes <favorite hobby>"- Hinata
"And a <favorite animal> stuffie!"- Atsumu
Adriah, Meian, Barnes and Inunaki rn 👉🏻👁👄👁
"What? We hang out with YN a lot!"- Sakusa
"Yeah, they have to watch us after practice remember?"- Hinata
Please Adriah is running to his phone to take notes
Mans is going to plan a super romantic date for you both
He plans to ask you out go dinner on Saturday night after the teamss practice on Friday
Good thing there won't be a major life event that occurs on Friday 😃
Nope just a friendly rivelry match between MSBY and their besties, the Schweiden Adlers 🙃
What fun 🥰
Love that for them honestly
Anyways, the Adlers, well they don't have a manager 😔
It's really unfortunate
Oh well, too bad I guess you'll just have to fill that void YN!
Honestly the Adler's love you YN and who can blame them!
Our freaking perfect angel 😇
In fact, the Adlers love you SO much that they occupy the majority of your time
And MSBY oof- they do not like that
Mainly a certain man in particular 😏
Because you see, the Adlers has their own SIX FOOT SEVEN INCH giant by the name of Tatsuto Sokolov
Seriously YN 🙄 if you don't I will-
You must attract the Titans YN because Tatsuto has been ON you since the Adlera arrived
"Hey YN, it's good to see you again"- Tatsuto
"Hey Tatsuto! I'm so glad you guys could make it"- you 🥰
Adriah rn 👉🏻 >:(
"Hey YN do you think you could help me wrap my fingers?"- Tatsuto
"Oh sure!"- You
"You really gonna let Sokolov take YN from You?"- Inunaki, our resident drama starter
"Dont be silly Inunaki, Sokolov is miles ahead of Adriah, I mean look at him!"- Atsumu adds, stirring the pot
Adriah looks over to see Sokolov caressing your cheek 😱
Oh HELL no
Our mans Adriah is not gonna take that, so he giant stomps over to you and Tatusto
"Hey Adriah- what the heck?!?!"- You say as Adriah pulls you behind him
"Hey Adriah, what's up?"- Sokolov 😏
"YN is mine! Back off!"- Adriah 😠
You 👉🏻🤨 I am???
"YN I like you and I want to take you out on a date! I was going to ask you tonight after practice but I just couldn't stand it any longer. So what do you say?"- Adriah
You 👉🏻😐😳🥺 you-you like me??
"I've liked you for a while YN but I didn't know how to tell you-"
"I like you too Adriah!"- You
Give the man a hug right NOW YN 😤
while you two are hugging, Sokolov walks over to Inunaki who slips him a $20
Meian 👉🏻😐🤨 wtf...
"What? I just took out a little insurance to make sure he actually asked YN out!"- Inunaki
"You're just as bad as Atsumu"- Sakusa
Atsumus 👉🏻😱 offended
You and Adriah 🫂 🤗 🥰

The early morning mist begins to clear, the rising sun casts a rosy hue across the morning sky and the birds begin chirping their morning melody to welcome a new day. Kindaichi breathes in the much needed fresh clean air, his eyes blinking blearily in an attempt to stay awake as he walks to the gym at the start of the Golden Week. He pushes the heavy metal doors of the gym using his right leg and sees the sun pouring through the windows of the school’s gym, making the gym glow in soft orange.
“Morning.”
Kindaichi yawns his greeting as he stretches his arms and back. Not hearing hollers from his teammates, he looks around the quiet gym, rubbing his arms when the temperature gets a bit chilly before finding the team’s libero and second year setter eating leisurely. He swears that he hears some sniffles from them, “What are you guys eating, Yahaba-san?”
The second year setter turns around and shoves a box of chocolates in Kindaichi’s hands, his voice muffled as he attempts to speak with his cheeks puffing like a hamster, mouth full of sweets. “Oimmffhmfmffh.”
Watari clicks his tongue in distaste as he shakes his head before sighing, “Don’t talk with your mouth full.” He raises his hand before slapping Yahaba’s back with a loud smack. Kindaichi pales when he sees Yahaba’s whole body shake, mentally reminding himself to never piss Watari off.
“What he means to say is that Oikawa-san gave us his gifts from his fanclub.” Watari explains while Yahaba wipes his suspiciously teary eyes with the sleeve of his shirt. “He said that he couldn’t possibly finish all of the chocolates anyway and that he didn’t want to share with the other senpais for some reason.”
Kindaichi picks up a piece of chocolate and twirls the confection around his fingers before popping it into his mouth. His eyes widen when the chocolate immediately melts in his tongue, the sweet taste, the creamy feel makes him feel like a newborn baby, “Hey, it’s pretty good.”
“Right?” Yahaba sniffs his nose, “Man, I want a cute girlfriend to give me one of these chocolates too. Hey, Watari, how do I get one?”
The libero’s smile becomes tight as his friend begins to nudge his side with his sharp elbow. Watari silently grips Yahaba’s wrist, which made Yahaba yelp in pain, “Not trying too hard would be a good start.”
Kunimi hums in agreement, making Kindaichi jump, “What the hell, when did you get here?”
“I’ve been standing next to you the whole time.”
Kindaichi awkwardly nods his head as he averts his gaze from his glaring friend. His hand reaches for more of the milky, buttery chocolate while leisurely talking about their upcoming training regime during the entire Golden Week.
“Aw man, I gotta admit those are the best chocolates I’ve ever eaten.” Yahaba sighs as he pats his stomach in satisfaction.
“Do you reckon Oikawa-san has more of those?” Kunimi asks excitedly. Kindaichi raises an eyebrow at his friend, whose impassive face is in contrast to his elevated voice.
“We can ask him when he gets back–”
POOF!
The gym’s metal doors are slammed open and you enter with a wide step while greeting loudly, a quirk you always did everytime you step inside the gym. You look around the empty space, only finding a cart filled with untouched volleyballs, the net hasn’t been set up yet and an empty box decorated cutely before discovering four babies in your school’s volleyball shirt.
You suck in a sharp breath, feeling panicked and wondering if the coaches mentioned about bringing their children along to practice, which is impossible because they won’t be arriving until late afternoon. Walking slowly and cautiously towards the group of babies, you finally recognised the hairstyle of each child. You tilt your head in confusion, “Eh?”
“Is this a joke?” You asked yourself.
Just to be sure, you call each of their names loudly, making sure your voice resonates throughout the quiet gym. But only the babies reply in their gibberish language, which only confirmed your far-fetched theory. “They’re babies. I’m sure of it.”
Looking around and making sure that nobody else is in the gym, you let out an excited squeal, “I’m finally able to realise my trashy novel fantasies!” Wiping a stray tear with a finger, you sniff, “I’m a single mother now!”
Placing a hand on your forehead, you twirl around dramatically before falling down in front of the babies with the grace of a swan on the gym’s floor, earning happy babbles and applause from them. You silently lament about wanting to wear a fluffy long skirt instead of the school’s tracksuit, just so that you could feel like Snow White and the four dwarfs– you mean, babies. You keep a neutral face as you silently creep your hands towards the unsuspecting Yahaba baby while the other three babies are focused on the empty box in front of them. Lifting your hands, you tickle the child as you coo at him, laughter filling the gym’s empty noise as the baby squirms under your mercy.
The remaining third years finally arrive and they greet you casually before stopping in their tracks. “Whose kids are they? The coaches?” Matsukawa asks as he shoves his hands inside his pockets.
Shaking your head, you hand a tired, red faced Yahaba to the middle blocker, who then awkwardly holds the baby in his arms, “Nope. Guess again.”
Hanamaki sends a glare to a scowling baby whose hair is parted in the middle, reminding him of a certain junior who refuses to move during practice, but he decides against it, “Nah, where are our little kouhais though?”
Your body slumps as you groan, rolling your eyes before Oikawa steps in front of you and points at the babies on the floor. “Now, now, [Name]-chan before you create your monstrous sounds–”
“Hey!”
“–these babies are our kouhais, right?”
His question received no reply, but no objection either. Matsukawa silently settles the baby in his arms on the ground and slings a hand around Hanamaki’s neck before moving towards the exit. Iwaizumi crosses his arms and glares at the two friends, “And where do you think you’re going?”
Hanamaki raises both of his hands in a calming gesture, “We’re off buying food. For the kids.”
Matsukawa waves a hand with a smile on his face, “Want anything from Family Kart?”
The captain hollers that he wants onigiri, along with a few chocolate bars for their precious manager in case she decides to be a monster with all the groans she’s producing. Feeling annoyed, you pinch Oikawa’s side and flash a sweet smile when the captain cries in pain as Iwaizumi raises an eyebrow, “Didn’t you just eat breakfast?”
Oikawa smirks as he manages to slap your hand away, placing a hand on his hips as he tilts his head to the side, “This is why we’re different in terms of height, Iwa-chan.”
“Huh?”
Seeing Iwaizumi already raising his fist, you quickly stop both of them before Iwaizumi proceeds to demonstrate violence towards impressionable children. The last thing you need is a baby fight. Silently panicking, you begin to think of possibilities of baby injuries– you know next to nothing when it comes to treating injured babies. Worse, the babies are actually the first and second year regular players of the volleyball team and for them being stuck as babies in the start of Golden Week. “Imagine explaining this to the coaches!” you scream mentally.
Iwaizumi notices you beginning to lose your cool, he pats your back, “We’ll help you take care of them.”
“Only you, Iwa-chan!” Oikawa pipes in.
In your eyes, Iwaizumi is your saviour, while Oikawa is nothing but dust. You stick your tongue at the captain, in which he is happy to reply with his own while pulling his lower eyelid. Iwaizumi grits his teeth, his body tensing before he sucks in a deep breath. His body visibly relaxes and he exhales slowly, the tension in his face begins to fade and he looks calmer than before. “Right, only I will help you, [Name].”
“W-whoa, Iwa-chan,” Feeling demure, the blush on your face sears through your cheeks and for a minute, you think your face is on fire. Suddenly, Iwaizumi becomes dependable, not that he isn’t before but– “That’s so cool! I’m totally living the trashy novel plot!”
Looking away shyly, you stutter your thanks to the boy. Oikawa huffs when he witnesses the interaction, taking out a ball and proceeds to throw it up in the air as he runs up to deliver a powerful serve.
“Oi, Shittykawa! We’re not practicing near babies.” Iwaizumi warns. The captain bites back his complaints and silently sits himself at the corner of the court, letting the ball drop and roll away freely. Seeing you and Iwaizumi being somewhat parental towards the first and second year babies churned something in his stomach. Watching you meekly hand over a Watari looking baby to Iwaizumi with rosy pink cheeks, Oikawa couldn’t help but groan, “Iwa-chan! Why are you helping [Name]-chan anyway?”
Both you and Iwaizumi turn to face Oikawa with unimpressed expressions. Feeling somewhat pathetic but his heart wouldn’t settle until he says what he has to say, Oikawa gestures his hands at you and the babies, “She’s a girl! Girls can take care of babies alone, right? Let’s practice!”
Iwaizumi widens his eyes in surprise before snickering, “Wow, Shittykawa. You just proved yourself to be a deadbeat dad.”
You’re also quick to rub the salt in the wound, cackling wildly, “Yeah, Oikawa.”
The captain gasps as he stands up, making his way towards Iwaizumi and sweeping babies Yahaba and Watari from his friend’s arms, “Hey! I’ve taken care of my nephew before and I can take care of Yahaba and Watari! Plus, they’re easier to care for~” he sings.
Iwaizumi looks doubtful when he sees Oikawa telling the babies that he wouldn’t be a deadbeat dad. Silently, he goes to Oikawa and helps him out by playing with the two babies with him.
You gasp sharply in surprise after discovering Oikawa’s real intentions. Standing up, you poke a delicate finger to his chest, “So that’s your plan, Oikawa!”
The captain merely raised an eyebrow while looking at you amusedly. “Oh?”
“You’re planning to take my husband away with your single father act!” Oikawa yelps as your hair smacks his face when you turn around, looking at him over your shoulder before scoffing, “Disgraceful!”
Iwaizumi blushes when he hears you call him your husband, he splutters, “W-what, husband? [Name], I–”
Before the ace could take a look at your growing red face after your bold claim, Oikawa laughs high and mighty with a devious look in his eyes, “It seems that you’re not a slow shrew after all, [Name]-chan.” He runs behind Iwaizumi and grabs his biceps, “But it’s too late for you! Iwa-chan will fall for my single dad charms in no time!”
Iwaizumi glares at his friend as he starts to feel uncomfortable now that he is the center of the attention. “Oi, stop it, both of you.”
However, his words are ignored as you gasp in shock and grab babies Kindaichi and Kunimi, who look very happy to be carried in one arm each. You glare at Iwaizumi with tears in your eyes, making the latter deflate under your stare as you whisper, “How could you do this to me, Iwa-chan?”
You are touched when you feel two pairs of tiny hands pat your face, it's as if Kindaichi and Kunimi could feel your sombre mood, regardless of their age. You make your way to the other side of the court with the babies, making Iwaizumi push Oikawa away from his arm, trying to calm you down as you let out sniffles of your crying.
Oikawa stands still as he watches his friend patting your back awkwardly, that is until he sees a coy smirk gracing your smug face. “Ha, I win this round, Oikawa~” your eyes seem to say.
There is no way Oikawa is losing to you.
He tries to recreate a dramatic spin he saw in the soap opera his mother loves to watch but he fails miserably as he falls down with the elegance of a chicken trying to fly. But Iwaizumi wouldnt bat an eye. Grumpily, he lifts himself up and smiles when both Yahaba and Watari clap their hands for him. “At least my performance is appreciated,” Oikawa thinks.
“Thanks, Yahaba-chan and Watacchi.”
Meanwhile, Iwaizumi then realises that you’re fake crying because at this point, your cheeks are dry and you’re only blubbering instead. He looks up at the gym’s ceiling and sighs heavily, “Why am I even friends with them?”
A sharp cry pierces the gym and Iwaizumi quickly looks at Oikawa’s corner of the court, finding both Yahaba and Watari crying. Oikawa starts to panic as he pats the babies’ backs but they are unrelenting. He bites his lip, “What’s taking Makki and Mattsun so long? We might need to change their diapers! Pants! Whatever!”
Feeling spiteful, you giggle at Oikawa’s predicament, “Kindaichi and Kunimi are literal angels! They would never cry–”
Tears burst forth like water from a dam, spilling from Kindaichi and Kunimi’s faces as they join the crying fest.
Iwaizumi stares dumbly at the floor while Oikawa laughs as you panic, asking the babies if something’s wrong. He thinks of his position as the team’s vice captain. When he first accepted the position, he didn’t think much of it. In fact, his first impression towards vice captains is that they are usually the ones who did nothing at all. Looking at Oikawa who is all but happy to join the babies in torturing their manager, Iwaizumi thinks, “Shouldn’t the captains be responsible?”
Then, he glances at you whose hands are flailing around as you are near in tears, “Managers too.”
But no, his captain and manager are both general annoyances, however endearingly so. Iwaizumi debates lying down on his back again, to have a silent mental breakdown with the chaos in the gym as a background noise, but he decides against it. Remembering how Matsukawa, Hanamaki and you were crying for him to survive in public, he thinks it would be best if he just went through this now instead of dealing with more of Oikawa and your antics.
“I think they’re hungry.” Iwaizumi helpfully informs the two of you after clearing his throat several times. Blinking twice, both you and Oikawa perk up, running towards your bags. You rummage your bag and find several boxes of Pawcky, “I have some Pawcky with me!”
“And I have spare milk bread with me!” Oikawa tells you.
With Oikawa and your combined strengths, the both of you manage to feed the children together without any fusses. With Oikawa tearing the food into smaller pieces for the kids, you quickly fill up the bottles with water in case they become thirsty. Iwaizumi becomes speechless at the perfect teamwork between you and the captain. The babies then soon fall asleep and the both of you slump onto each other. Oikawa grins at you, “Phew, we make a pretty good team, [Name]-chan!”
You beam at him, “For once you’re right, Oikawa!”
The both of you pat each other’s back and sing praises to one another as Iwaizumi sighs tiredly while he rests his heavy body against the gym wall. “Great,” he grumbles. The gym has become considerably warmer, with the bright light pouring from the gym’s windows, making the floating dusts visible to his naked eye.
POOF!
“Our children!” Both you and Oikawa scream in panic. Iwaizumi quickly stands up in action, coughing when the puff of smokes nearly engulfing the three of you. A familiar voice asks, “What, what happened?”
Watari rubs his eyes with his hands as the other three baby turned normal guys cough their lungs out from the smoke, he is met with the view of their manager and captain clasping their hands together, with tears streaming from their eyes. Oikawa holds your intertwined hands together and brings them near to his face, “Oh, [Name]-chan! They grow so fast!”
The dazed libero looks at the team’s ace questioningly, to which Iwaizumi only replied with a pitying smile, “Trust me, you don’t wanna know.”
Only then, Matsukawa and Hanamaki return from their hours-long worth of shopping for food. “You guys sure took your sweet time,” Iwaizumi says gruffly. Matsukawa averts his gaze from Iwaizumi’s scowl while whistling a tune as Hanamaki asks amusedly “Eh, they’re back to normal?”
“Normal from what?” Yahaba asks but his question is ignored by his senpais. Poor Yahaba.
As a sign of reconciliation, Hanamaki passes a bottle of banana milk to Iwaizumi, patting his back as Matsukawa passes bento boxes around to the team, “Thanks for the hard work, ace.”
A loud clap interrupts the warm atmosphere and Oikawa stands up with his hands on his hips, “Alright everyone, gather up!”
“We are already gathered, Oikawa.” Hanamaki snickers.
“Hush, you.”
You silently stand behind the captain with a resolute expression in your face as Oikawa begins his speech, “I have realised that [Name]-chan and I are not really responsible, personality-wise.”
The atmosphere turns serious, the faces of the team morph into surprise.
“So, from this day forward,” you continue, “We’ll get our acts together and form a strong bond in order to guide this team to the nationals!”
“And crush the Ushiwaka bastard!” Oikawa adds.
Iwaizumi’s intuition rings “Dumbass alert! Dumbass alert!” but he shoves the thought away. However, Iwaizumi remembers the sheer chaos created by the two of you just moments ago, so he grabs a ball, just in case.
You nod at Oikawa and the captain holds your hand, raising it as he continues, “We will become co-parents to you guys!”
A fast ball hits Oikawa’s face before knocking off to your forehead. You cry at the burn on your forehead as Oikawa crumples to the floor, clutching his face in agony.
“Iwa-chan!”
Tumblr media
Extra:
You rub the reddening spot on your forehead, pouting at Iwaizumi, “Violence against a helpless woman? I thought you are better than this!”
However, Iwaizumi looks dead inside, his voice low, “At this rate, I don’t see you as a woman, [Name].”
You gasp along with Hanamaki and Matsukawa. Your heart beats faster than ever, “What does Iwa-chan think of me, then?”
“You’re more like a–” he pauses, contemplating his words. He looks at you and your red forehead, you really do look like a sad piece of work. He deflates, “–an annoyance. But not really.”
Oikawa raises an eyebrow as he slaps Iwaizumi’s shoulder, “Huh? You called me a bug once when I really annoyed you, Iwa-chan!” He then nudges Iwaizumi’s side, “You wanted to call her a bug, right? It’s okay. [Name]-chan is a big girl, she can take it–”
“Thanks, Iwa-chan.” you grab a tissue offered by Hanamaki. “Being a bug is cool too.” you cry, blowing your nose as both Hanamaki and Matsukawa gasp at Iwaizumi scandalously.
“Can we get to practice, now?” Iwaizumi asks, red faced.
