Honestly I think this team is a perfect fit for a manager who loves to read!

You attend Seijoh and you just happen to be a first year

You never really bothered anyone, never really stood out but you had friends and were a typical student

Anyways, you were a typical student who just happened to have class with our favorite aloof wing spiker, Kunimi

Kunimi actually really enjoyed you because you were nice, sweet and pleasant

You never caused drama and while you did have you noise in a book a lot, he’d rather have that than someone gushing over his Senpai 🙄

I totally feel like Kunimi would like reading too so he would probably ask you about your reads, which you happily share

You probably were constantly tired, like him, only you were tired because you stayed up all night reading 😅

During a normal practice, Mattsun and Makki were again teasing Oikawa for being the reason they couldn’t have nice things

Aka a manager

“I can’t help that everyone likes me!” Oikawa whines

“Shut up Shittykawa nobody likes you!” Iwaizumi shouts

Suddenly Kunimi looks over and you appear in the doorway of the gym, eyes locked in a book and holding his math book

He looks at you questionably, which prompts Kindaichi, Yahaba, Watari and Kyotani to do the same thing

He runs past his arguing seniors towards you and greets you kindly

“Hello Yn, did you bring this for me?” He asks as you snap from you book, a wide, adorable smile greeting him

“Yes! I was headed out and I noticed you forgot it so I figured I’d swing by!”

By now, the seniors have noticed you and annoyingkawa is on the move 🙄

“Well hello there and who might you be?” He says but you say nothing

Oikawa clears his throat and tries again, “hello there cutie-chan!”

Again, nothing

Kunimi is holding it together by a thread, Makki and Mattsun are too stunned to speak and Iwaizumi is hella impressed!

“You know it’s rude to ignore you seniors!” Oikawa growled

You snap from your book, eyes locking with his, “oh I’m sorry, this is just a really interesting part, nothing against you personally but it’s kind of important so I’ll be on my way.”

Makki and Mattsun BUST out laughing

Kindaichi, Yahaba, and Watari just stare

Kyotani and Iwa are in awe of your ability to ignore THE Oikawa

“I’ll see you in class tomorrow Akira,” you say, waving at him and walking away

Immediately, Iwa runs up to Kunimi and asks, “does Yn need a club??”

And that, my dear, is how you became the Seijoh’s new manager 🥰

Now at first, you weren’t really super excited about volleyball

I mean, you originally said yes because you needed a club and well, Kunimi was your friend

However you found one perk to the sport

In the form of reading Sports Mangas 😍

Surprisingly it was an excellent way to learn the sport as well as combine it with your love of reading

Even if Manga wasn’t your first choice, you definitely found it easier to learn thought reading gs alternative means

Mainly loserkawa 🙄 who took it upon himself to try and educate you on the sport

“Shittykawa leave Yn alone!!” Iwa shouts as you stand next to Kunimi and Kindaichi

“I’m teaching Yn-Chan the fine art of serving!” Oikawa shouted back

“Umm thanks Oikawa but I think I got it. I read a manga last night and I got the basics down,” you says as Oikawa puts up his hand

“Why read Yn-Chan when you can learn from the greatest?!” He says, tossing up the balls

Unfortunately, the skills and tactics didn’t match up against Karasuno, who apparently had developed their own skills

The third years were broken, the second years so upset and the first years disappointed

You couldn’t help but feel awful, like you failed them

On the bus ride home, everyone was quiet as you sat

You wanted to cheer them up but you didn’t know how

Then it came to you, you pulled out your book from your bag

Let’s just say it was one of your new favorites and you began to read out loud to the bus

The boys slowly looked up, listening to your soothing voice as you recited lines perfectly

The entire bus seemed to calm down, the tension disappearing as you continued to read

Once back at school, you stopped reading and prepared to get off the bus

“Wait Yn what happens next?” Kindaichi asks as Kunimi nods

“Come on YN, you can’t really just leave us hanging with that!” Yahaba groaned

“Anyone can see the hero is going to end up victorious as always!” Oikawa chimes in as Iwa smacks him in the back of the head

“Shittykawa shit up!” Iwa said as Mattsun and Makki helped you unload the gear

“You’ll finish reading the story right Yn?” Makki asks as you smile

seijoh road trip ¡!

(bc i’m on a super long car ride right now)

let’s start with seating arrangements (assume they’re in an suv or something bc those maniacs would not be able to fit in anything small)

iwaizumi’s driving (i don’t think this needs an explanation)

matsukawa’s in the passengers seat. always. he’s the oldest sibling so therefore the front seat is his god-given right, sitting in the back is just too foreign for him

(he’d also put together a pretty nice playlist for the trip let’s be honest)

kindaichi’s also usually a front seater (when he drives w his family), but with anyone else he prefers the very back row. it’s nice and secluded :)

plus he always sits next to kunimi, and kunimi needs the seclusion

speaking of needs, yahaba gets car sick ridiculously easy, so he needs to be next to a window so he can have easy vomiting access

like actually, the slightest bump or turn will make him throw up.

watari’s right there next to him (he’s the only one sane enough & versatile enough to handle being in the very center of everything)

oikawa’s sitting behind iwaizumi, partially to be a helpful navigator and partially to annoy the fuck outta him

makki’s in the third row. i don’t have much to say about this, he’s just chill. you could put him on the hood of the car and he’d be all “this is cool man”

kyoutani’s in the trunk lol

he’s a trunk guy?? he’d sit back there with his dog and enjoy being away from everyone (plus he kinda hates the feel of seatbelts, they’re too constrictive)

hanamaki is the king of snacks. chips? he’s got em. chocolates? he’s got em. cookies? he’s got em. that boys bag is the equivalent to mary poppins’, the snacks just keep coming

funnily enough he can never remember to bring a phone charger

(chargers are kunimi’s department)

kunimi’s blasting music/white noise/anything into his earbuds the entire ride. he NEEDS his shit to be charged because he’s not about to listen to people talking (read: arguing) for hours on end

kindaichi’s always the one who had to go to the bathroom immediately after they leave the rest stop

“why didn’t you go back there??”

“I DIDN’T HAVE TO GO THEN-”

when everyone falls asleep iwaizumi likes to listen to true crime podcasts

the only thing is, watari is physically incapable of falling asleep in cars (i am projecting) so he just has to listen in horror as a narrator describes the most gruesome, bloody murders he’s ever heard

they accidentally left kindaichi behind once at a gas station (it was only for 5 minutes, but he sobbed uncontrollably)

after that they made sure to do a head count at every stop

every half hour oikawa will get bored and make them all play games like i spy, 20 questions, truth or dare (mostly truths), etc.

cue kyouhaba crawling over the seats to beat the shit out of each other during punch buggy

kunimi’s splayed over kindaichi for half of the trip

so hanamaki will be having a conversation with kindaichi and trying so hard to ignore the fact that kunimi’s head is in his lap and the former is combing his fingers through the latters hair

oikawa switches out to drive so that iwaizumi can sleep for a bit, but ends up screaming at some dumb crap another car did and is banned from the wheel (road rage oikawa supremacy!)

kyoutani’s the “are we there yet?” person. every ten minutes he’ll ask how much longer until they stop

when they do stop, he’ll just go run a lap or two. then come back ten times happier than before, he just needs to stretch his legs !!

mattsun will look up fun facts about each place they visit to entertain everyone :) he’ll be very “dad”-ish about it, like “woaahh, listen to this kids” and “jeez louise that’s a cool little nugget of information”

(we need more dorky matsukawa he’s a total fucking nerd sometimes)

he likes to recline his seat all the way back just to piss yahaba off (he moves it back upright but only after making the second year say please)

yahaba practically falls to the ground when they pull over at rest stops. everyone will go get food/water and pee and he’ll still be kneeling on the pavement holding his stomach when they get back

(when i said the guy gets car sick i MEANT CAR SICK)

in between podcast episodes, iwaizumi will look back at all his sleeping teammates (and a mortified watari) and just think about how much he loves his friends :))

How it started & Where they are at - MatsuHana

These two were definitely oblivious that they were being gay.

They really just thought it was bro things to do.

Oikawa was convinced that they were a thing. (So was the majority of the team)

They laughed when they were told.

But then they both went Wait a damn minute and boom now they are aware that they might have feeling. But do they do something about them: absolutely, they flirt even more now.

They tried to test the waters by continuously flirting with each other, seeing if the other had any reactions (they took in all the details)

They don't even know when or how they started officially dating so they just say "Eh it just kinda happened" and not elaborate.

Their hangouts just randomly started being referred to as dates in their heads and they rolled with it.

They were a fast-burn friends-to-lovers with a one-night stand vibe

Officially the residential cupids/gossip queens of Seijoh

Probably have a spreadsheet of every team member's dating history and a list of potential matches.

Have an entire agenda dedicated to making Iwaoi a thing by the end of the year.

Went on "double-dates" with Iwaoi (they didn't know what they were, they thought it was just hangouts)

They even have a backup plan in case they don't make it.

They probably tipped Watari and Kunimi in on the drama and decided to have them continue their legacy of "matchmaking volleyball players".

They probably have them collect intel in exchange of some tips and plans for the job (they take it very seriously).

After graduation, they probably lived in a one-person flat for Uni to save money.

The Matchmaking gc was still in action after the third years left (mainly filled with Watari's complaints of Kyouhaba).

Present day: Makki leaves half of his stuff at Matsukawa's house because "he can't bother with always bringing a bag when he wants to visit", but somehow always manages to haul bags upon bags of random items back to Miyagi everytime.

The Iwaoi plan did not work but they ended up telling Iwaizumi about it in hopes of something happening.

They got the call after the Argentina vs Japan Olympics match.

A celebration with Watari and Kunimi was overdue, and they had a blast (aka shit talked about people and meddled with other's love lives until 4am)

Definitely teased Kyoutani for using them as "reliable sources" for the interview (light novel 13)

Made a lot of Iwaoi references in the interview and hopes to embarrassing them. Watari was giggling the entire way with no shame, then proceeded to quote some of the "company mottos" of the matchmaking gc. The sempais were very proud.

Oikawa Tooru: At the beginning when I drew him, I thought, “Since the manga is plain so far, let’s have a gorgeous character emerge.” But in reality he’s the most unrefined guy.

Iwaizumi Hajime: At the age of 35, if all characters were to fight, the strongest would be this guy, Sawamura, or Ennoshita.

Matsukawa Issei: All the way until the last chapter, I thought it would feel unrealistic for #1 and #2 to compete [I assume this means Mattsun won’t compete w Oikawa]. Perhaps he [Mattsun] could play the leading role in another manga.

Hanamaki Takahiro: He can live happily even though he doesn’t have a steady job, so no need to worry.

Yahaba Shigeru: The type who tries to be smooth and fails. If he simply took a more straightforward approach, I think it would work for him.

Watari Shinji: I think he absolutely grew up with animals / pets.

Kindaichi Yuutaro: A high-empathy guy. He may have hard times, but someone will always come to help when he’s in trouble since he’s such a good guy.

Kunimi Akira: This guy could be invincible if he were to do some muscle training and eat properly, but he never does.

Kyoutani Kentarou: Earnest and awkward.
