Good Lord I cannot stop Simonposting
Anyway. The Golbetty shrine. Is incredibly messed up and delightfully feels like the sort of thing someone would construct after comprehending the god of chaos.
Tumblr media
It’s clearly not Simon’s first time doing the ritual in vain (we’ve already seen him try many times in the montage at the end of the show to get her back, including consulting the Cosmic Owl and Prismo), so there’s holes in the wall that correspond to Golb’s symbols. The Enchiridion is also there, which was the main source of power for summoning elder gods like the Litch (used to resurrect himself) Golb (used by Magic Man and Betty) and (attempt to) time travel (by Betty). But before the apocalypse, the Enchiridion was owned by Simon himself, and both him and Betty studied it. So it has the twofold power of being a very strong magic battery and has the emotional link to Petrigrof.
The empty bottles and whatever those terrifying lamprey looking things are in a makeshift statue, harbouring a cleaner looking idol (which he probably created himself) out of clay. Making a statue of a god at least twice? Does that mean that even if one gets broken or damaged he has the other one? Or does it make the rituals stronger?
We know that Simon knew a bit about Golb before the apocalypse- in the final episode of the main series we have a flashback of him and Betty, where he says “I keep seeing reference to this mysterious entity that embodies chaos” and “his presence is felt in every crevice where chaos lurks”. To which Betty replies “well it’s a good thing he isn’t here then.”
She sacrificed herself to keep him safe and away from the god of chaos and madness, by fusing her soul with his. Golb being this sort of god means that he’s probably the originator of MMS (Magic, Madness and Sadness) which is a canonical condition where insane/depressed characters will have a higher propensity to magic, and magic users are more prone to bouts of mania, amnesia and depression.
The crown was basically a catalyst of MMS, which caused Simon to have unnatural elemental powers (unlike the elementals which don’t experience default MMS) as well as effecting his body and mind.
Betty is pretty much the only character to have ‘diagnosed’ MMS, recognising it in most magic users, and in Simon, hoping to undo its effects on him. Her theory is proven correct in the episode ‘Betty’ by Bella Noche undoing all the magic in Wizard City and the effects of the crown are nullified, and retracts its influence from Simon, causing him to become ‘normal again’ and regain his clarity and memories.
Grief is shown to be a strong natural catalyst to MMS, which also happened to Magic Man (after his wife Margles was ‘taken by Golb’ which still has an unclear meaning, she definitely didn’t fuse like Betty, although wishing her back at Prismo’s did the exact same thing as Simon wishing Betty back which is really unusual), and Betty herself after the ‘You Forgot Your Floaties’ episode (which by the way is like one of the best episodes in the show).
Betty’s whole motive was to save Simon and free him from madness, which she did at the cost of her soul. But now, ironically, Simon’s grief is causing him to develop it again, which is how he channels the Golb rituals (like how Betty and magic man did) and also probably how the Fionnaverse portal even opened up in the first place.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Something about about Simon having panic attacks in his house and just generally getting triggered by a lot of stuff (Ice, the books he wrote as Ice King, etc) but then gently stroking the clay idol he made of the god of madness because that’s his wife is just heart breaking
Tumblr media
Look at that expression :( it’s longing followed by guilt because he knows this is exactly what she would never want him to do.

I'm a little confused by the left's repeated assertion that they're "trying to hold Biden accountable" and push him left, things they've been talking about since before he was elected, and the ramifications of that at this point in time. I do think we need to be calling out things we disagree with and making our feelings known, but seeing people like Nina Turner complain about student loan forgiveness when it's been made abundantly clear Biden is doing all he can and he can't actually cancel anything as just the President (without being sued or having it reversed by Republicans - please correct me if I'm wrong and there's more he could do here?) doesn't feel like it's that? I just don't understand the logic behind people on the left adding to this narrative that he isn't trying hard enough on what we want, rather than the Republicans are preventing things from being done. We need to not sit back and get complacent, yes, sure, but I feel like the line where it goes from helpful and necessary to harmful and more beneficial to the right was crossed a while ago.
The thing is, you're confused by it because it's a bad-faith argument. Actually "holding someone accountable" means honestly assessing what they can do, what they have done, what they can be expected to do in the future, and if they haven't done it, what's stopping them (i.e. have they just not done it or are they being actively stopped from doing it by factors beyond their control)? It doesn't mean "constantly moving the goalposts to constantly criticize someone if they don't magically get everything done immediately, regardless of reality." The way Online Leftists use it, "holding Biden accountable" means "relentlessly criticize him every instant he doesn't magically transform into the Socialist Messiah overnight, the end." That's not actually a useful, honest, reliable, or constructive metric.
This is also the case because their version of good policy is "someone thinks the Correct Thoughts all the time and any failures to achieve it means they are not thinking the Correct Thoughts hard enough." I'm not sure how anyone could have missed what SCOTUS is doing right now, but Online Leftists remain determined to discount, minimize, or otherwise totally ignore its role, because that would mean a) there is in fact a difference between the parties, b) Hillary Clinton would not have made the same appointments Trump did, and c) they might therefore have some responsibility in not voting for her, none of which can be countenanced. As such, if Biden has failed to wave a magic wand and get all student debt erased for everyone overnight, He Is Just Not Trying Hard Enough. SCOTUS very notably outlawed his first forgiveness program? BIDEN'S FAULT!
Even though Biden extended the Covid-era payment pauses as long as he could (it was Congress that passed the law mandating an end to them, because THE PRESIDENT IS NOT AN ABSOLUTE MONARCH!), and even though he's now rejiggered the entire repayment program so that your monthly payments can get lowered to $0, these count as payments, and no interest accumulates as long as you "make" them, which in practice adds up to full forgiveness -- this still isn't good enough for the Online Leftists, because it happened after trial and error, is a partial solution, doesn't snap its fingers and erase everything, and relies on slow and careful policy work. And yet, it's going to be a lot harder for SCOTUS to overturn than just "the president forgives your debt," which was the first thing he tried to do and it didn't work! With a different SCOTUS, it might have! But we have this nightmare court BECAUSE OF TRUMP, and all the Pure Thoughts in the world won't get rid of it!
Biden is the most liberal president we have ever had, period, full stop. It's not sexy and it's not exciting and it's not something the Online Leftists will ever acknowledge, but it's the truth. And whenever he is actually and extensively pushed, he goes more left, not less. I suspect at least part of the recent negative press barrage he's gotten is because he's openly come out with a plan to raise the tax rate on billionaires to 25%, and the corporations and oligarchs that own the mainstream media Really Don't Like That. (They've always been unfair to Democrats, but look for it to be especially so.) That would be, BY FAR, the highest the top-rate tax bracket has been since Reagan. Biden is the first president ever to actually address the scam of "Reaganomics" and take credit for "Bidenomics," which actually does represent a major rearrangement of the way capital is envisioned and distributed in this country for the first time in the 40+ years since Reagan wrecked it. That's why the capitalist media is really, REALLY determined to muckrake him as much as possible, and to do Kamala even dirtier than they did to HRC in 2016.
Anyway also: Holding someone accountable also implies that you're working with them and will reward them (i.e. voting for them, engaging with them) if they do the things you expect, which is another thing the Online Leftists won't do. So yes. This. The end.

Whenever I see people say things like "Pinkie Pie should've been a pegasus" or "Fluttershy fits earth pony more" I get a little frustrated because TO ME the mane six have always been a really good example of "societal expectations" VS "societal deviance" of the three pony species within equestria.
Earth ponies are almost always expected to be providers. Like the Apple family for example or the Cake family OR even the "flower trio". They provide necessities, often food or they often provide hard labour (note how "background" jobs like construction and taxi pulling are most often done by earth ponies too). Applejack is obviously a perfect example of this! She's the head of her family, she's extremely hard working, shes incredibly physically strong, she's known and relied on by most of Ponyvill. Applejack very much lives up to the expectations that pony society has of earth ponies.
Pinkie Pie on the other hand is not one bit concerned with hard work. Her whole thing is having fun and throwing parties. In a way she is also providing something very important and necessary, socialisation and relaxation, however these are generally not deemed as valuable as strenuous labour and food production. Pinkie Pie is always written off as "childish" or not taking things seriously enough. She isn't deemed as very reliable a lot of the time and has to work very hard to prove herself, more so than someone like Applejack.
Ponyvill was founded by earth pony farmers, and is densely populated by earth ponies. Earth ponies are expected to work hard and grow food and provide for everyone, their roles are incredibly necessary and their work is highly appreciated. However, without someone like Pinkie Pie who deviates from those expectations, Ponyvill would be a miserable place (as seen in the episode Magical Mystery Cure). She may not be a farmer or a construction worker but her divergence from earth pony "standards" is what keeps everything in balance.
The same can be said for Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy too. Rainbow Dash is an exceptional athlete, she flies like no other pony and she almost always has her wits about her. At the end of the day, Rainbow Dash is truly a performer at heart, she wants to be in the Wonderbolts and show off her skills to all of Equestria. Pegasi are expected to be fast, agile, eager, always cool, proud and quick witted just like the Wonderbolts, and just like Rainbow Dash. She is a peak performance pegasus.
Fluttershy is Rainbows exact opposite. She doesn't care for speed, adventure or displays of athleticism, she truly doesn't even care for flying. She is, in both a literal and metaphorical way, very "down to earth", however her role is still very important and her being a pegasus is still very integral to who she is. If it weren't for her experiences of being ostracised for being different she would never have the empathy and dedication to her animals the way she does (and on more practical note, being able to fly does aid her in her work a lot the time). Fluttershy slows down, she's quiet and she gentle which something that other pegasi (and earth ponies honestly) struggle with. It was alway right for Fluttershy to be a pegasus who could soar the skies, because if she never fell down to earth she would have never found her true calling. Without ponies like her, many important things, creatures and events would go unnoticed and unchecked.
Rarity and Twilight Sparkle is kind of a funny one because I think a lot of people may expect Twilight to be the prime example of unicorns, but that's not really true at all. Twilight, despite being our mane character, is actually the deviant one here.
This is illustrated for us almost immediately in the first episode, where she's invited to a party by three other unicorns but ditches it to go study instead. Magic is merely a tool for most unicorns, but for ponies like Twilight or Starlight, it is their whole existence, it's what they were quite literally born to do. Twilight does not value social status at all, she doesn't have time to and growing up so stuck in her studies I'm not even sure she aware that it's such a big deal to others, especially within Canterlot. It's also worth noting that to Twilight, Princess Celestia was always her teacher and Princess Cadence was her babysitter so their status as royals never really mattered to her and she's able to see them more are regular ponies for that reason also.
Most Unicorns are socialites, they value "social currency" and monetary gain more than they value magic. They don't care that the Princesses are very powerful magically, they care more about their political powers and their social status as royals. We see this clearly in the season 2 episode "Sweet and Elite" where Rarity gets swept up on the high society life of Canterlot, when she mentions being from Ponyvill to two random snobby unicorns they look down on her, yet once it's revealed that she's staying at the castle for her visit, things change, mostly notably: her status. Rarity is a prime example of a unicorn, she's stylish, she's ambitious, she's concerned with image, she's social, she has very fine tastes and she's a businesswoman.
As the series progresses we she both Twilight and Rarity gain some fame. Twilight is mostly inconvenienced and troubled by this whereas Rarity, like most unicorns would, relishes in any sort of limelight. Unicorns are expected to be professional, they're most often more modern or "ahead of the curve" than other ponies and tend they to be the primary business owners of Equestria. However without ponies like Twilight, magic would become just an afterthought. Without powerful wizards like Starswirl, dedicated students like Subburt or magic obsessed freaks (affectionate) like Twilight Sparkle, pony society would crumble.
Applejack, Rainbow Dash and Rarity are prime examples of what is expected of earth ponies, pegasi and unicorns, respectively, in Equestrian society. However without ponies like Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy and Twilight Sparkle there would be no balance and no progression. In fact in the episode "Hearts Warming Eve" we literally get canon lore telling us that if it wasn't for three ponies who deviated from the rules and expectations of their respective tribes, that Equestria wouldn't even exist today.
I think the mane six are a great small scale example of how pony society functions and I really appreciate this aspect of the writing <3

Book Review: Wild Witchcraft by Rebecca Beyer
Tumblr media
TW: Alcohol mentions and tallow mentions. Poison Path things as well. This is: Wild Witchcraft by Rebecca Beyer Rating: 9/10 Pros: An amazing outlook into animism, herbalism, and foraging in a safe, sustainable and non-appropriative way! The instructions on how to garden were very to the point and explained some complicated ideals in an easy to digest way, I think one of my favorite quotes from the book that stuck with me while reading was,
“Just when I think magic has been cut down and paved over; a dandelion has pushed it’s way out of the cracks in the cement.”
I hope that quote helps you understand what sort of writing to expect out of this book! As someone that grew up learning planting from my Papaw who took classes on the subject after getting out of WWII through a governmental program and was a farmer before that, some of the information on growing was things I already knew. But for a beginner just looking into ‘wildcrafting’ or foraging or just plain growing your own herbs for witchy things?
Get this book.
The author, while an herbalist, breaks down each plant she mentions and includes plenty of warnings and suggestions for use both magical and holistically. She covers the poison path in a very easy to understand way while making sure you understand it’s not a beginner’s thing, and certainly not one to take without serious consideration first. The author takes careful note of Indigenous practices and makes sure to drive it home that their voices are to be heard over anyone else’s when it comes to taking care of American land. There are so many rituals and remedies included in this book that I have a feeling I’ll be referencing it quite a lot, and not just for the gardening and foraging tips!
Did I mention the entire 11 pages of a bibliography in the back?? No? Well there’s that too. My academic heart is thrilled.
Cons: Honestly? The only real con I have is that the author spends a chunk of time going over the Wheel of the Year which is a wiccan construct in a book that otherwise doesn’t have any wiccan imagery or practices up until this point. It feels…weirdly thrown in? But she also includes multiple folk traditions that were common amongst those particular time periods so…it is worked in but it still feels a little odd and jarring to me.
The author also mentioned the use of tallow as a commonly used oil for salves, which is correct but some people are uncomfortable with the idea and I understand that! Since the author has tincture recipes as well she does mention the use of alcohol in steeping purposes.
Overview: Animism, foraging, herbalism, and being safe to the environment. Good stuff all around!

Thunder legion hcs but some of them get weirdly specific bc i think abt them too much
(Part 1??)
- Originally Bickslow and Freed lived together as roommates, Evergreen lived in fairy hills and Laxus had his own penthouse. When Fairy Tail disbanded they began living together while they were in Blue Pegasus as it was just easier, and they never stopped (im running off the hc that theyre all living together for most of these)
- Freed is the cook of the raijin tribe, they used to have a cooking rotor but it slowly became just Freed cooking every night
- Evergreen CAN cook basic meals but hates doing it so just, wont. Back when there was a schedule she asked Freed to do it instead and he usually agreed because he enjoys cooking
- Bickslow also can cook, but likes to experiment quite heavily and will not be convinced to make a normal meal. Got banned from cooking after he served shrimp pasta with ice cream
- Laxus can cook you a damn good grilled cheese, but thats it. Only cooks when people are feeling like grilled cheese
- Bickslow is a painter, not-quite Reedus level but still good, they like to paint from the imagination more than from reference which ends in very interesting (and only mildly disturbing) pieces
- Evergreen likes to garden, its something she started when she was young because her mother told her fairies like to care for nature. Their apartment is filled with various plants that she keeps and cares for, and while she could use magic to help them grow she prefers doing it by hand
- Freed enjoys playing a lot of musical instruments, hes best at violin and has been playing since quite young along with piano, but can also play gutair and bass as of more recently. Also has a collection of books in the apartment, originally all stored in his room before he ran out of space
- They have a schedule of getting up at about 7am at the latest most days, its not heavily enforced day to day but they stick to it on missions, if not getting up even earlier depending on the job
- Off-mission though? Nobody is actually getting up at 7am. Bickslow doesnt have a set time to wake but tends to actually be an early riser, he enjoys the mornings so he usually gets up a bit before 7, occasionally to do some painting or stretch ect
- Freed wakes up at 6am sharp and gets straight out of bed, no yawning or stretching or anything just stands up and walks away
- he is also the one attempting to enforce the 7am rule (sorry king) but bickslow usually joins in if only to annoy people
- Evergreen prefers to sleep in a bit more where possible, usually till half 8 or 9 if she can get away with it, then spends way to long in the bathroom doing her hair, makeup, and picking an outfit
- Laxus normally gets up at 10 and is impossible to wake before that, youd have to kick him awake and hes still grumpy afterwards
- Freed is French (I WILL DIE ON THIS HILL) and comes from a military background, specifically a noble house that specialised in military trading and training in France (i have an entire backstory mapped out for this freak if anyones interested drop me an ask)
- Bickslow grew up in the circus, hes always been naturally flexible but its where he honed that ability as well as learning some acrobatics, however it burned down when he was a teenager and the puppets (“babies”) he keeps around are the result of friends who died in that fire
- Evergreen is Scottish and grew up mostly raised by a single mother, her father was around for a few years but was generally a horrible man, a drinker and abuser who eventually left her mother alone. She also has a brother a few years younger than her who she helped to raise and is still close to
- Freed is the tactician of the thunder legion, comes along with being a leader but hes usually the one coming up with the plans
- Speaking of, hes someone who prefers to have a plan before a fight where possible, particularly as his magic is one where its difficult to construct quickly, especially if he wants a high powered jutsu shiki. So while he can think quickly on his feet hed rather have a plan mapped out
- Evergreen is the one who’s best at thinking quickly, if they end up in a situation where a snap decision needs to be made shes confident enough to make it and order her teammates around without second guessing herself
- They also all understand the importance of teamwork and its the main reason they’re so effective (as seen in the battle of fairy tail) their close bond allows them to work extremely well together, even if they tend to argue sometimes
- When Bickslow dislikes someone they have a habit of showing it on his face, usually by pulling a disgusted expression
- Ever does this too in a more subtle way, usually exchanging a glance with one of the thunder legion if shes not liking what somebodies saying. She WILL be gossiping about it later
- If Freeds not interested in a conversation he just silently walks away when youre not looking, people have gone 10 minutes before noticing hes left before
- Laxus just leaves mid-sentence though, doesn’t even think about it just walks away
- None of them can drive anywhere for various reasons, Laxus obviously gets extremely motion sick so is out for the count right off the bat
- Bickslow was banned due to being deemed “a danger to himself and others” after he got too many speeding tickets and crashed the car into a postbox
- Evergreen literally applies makeup while driving, shes blasting the radio while doing lipstick without looking at the road and its terrifying
- Freed is who people THINK would be the most responsible driver, and while he’ll get you to your destination safely, he also has a bad habit of ignoring the speed limit and accidentally running red lights. Unlike Bickslow however hes somehow managed to avoid getting any tickets

Mel 🔆, Viktor 🌌, and Jayce 🔥 symbolism
SUN 🔆
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mel's association with the sun is self-evident and still mostly shrouded in mystery, though her love scene with Jayce is notable, which is overlaid with starry imagery, where her silhouette and her freckled face are compared to the cosmos. The sun is also a star. It's just the star that's closest to Runeterra and has the most influence over the world.
Tumblr media
Mel and the Hexcore are the POVs of the scene.
Tumblr media
Hexcore and starry imagery is more strongly and consistently associated with someone else, though!
STARS 🌟 / THE COSMOS 🌌
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Viktor's blue to purple pipeline is real
But seriously, the starry/swirly shapes point toward distant stars, the cosmos, a galaxy. There is no moon in Viktor's night scenes throughout the season, only stars.
Viktor's character regresses as the season goes on (blue to purple, ready to fall into Shimmer-like magenta as his corruption nears its peak).
Tumblr media
His hubris opens him up to some kind of corruption by the Hexcore, or by whatever - or whoever - is using the Hexcore as a gateway, like what Jinx points out. Singed as his mentor plants and encourages the lie that Viktor believes, that he's better off alone and that the ends justify the means.
These perfectly ruinous circumstances lead to him getting Sky killed (Sky like sky blue, like Inspiration, lost as Viktor has lost sight of good in his pursuit of great).
Tumblr media
In his running scene, Viktor runs not from left to right, filmspeak for progression - he runs from right to left, as though backstepping.
(And also for the Rocky Balboa reference called out in this brilliant post, but hey, I think it all works)
It's also worth laying the foundation that Viktor is a fantasy interpretation of Nikola Tesla, the Serbian-American inventor who was fascinated with electricity, radio signals, the cosmos, and [REDACTED for another post probably lol]
If you've fallen down the rabbit hole of League lore like I have, you might have picked up that peoples and warriors who are sun-worshipers are (at least anciently) tasked with hunting down and destroying Void beings, who are eldritch beings associated with the distant stars, or are Runeterrans constructed by the Void Watchers trapped between realms. The sun fights against interlopers from other dimensions or celestial bodies.
Mel and Viktor have the same ideas about risk and the nature of progress, and they are both technically foreigners living in Piltover and pursuing that progress - in two very different (but complementary) ways. They are most likely the two characters whose literal bodies are celestial, imbued with the Arcane. Their bodies are most likely augmented with magical metals.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yet the arcane imagery that seems to accompany them respectively are diametrically opposed - Sun vs. Void, possibly. (Also, purple and yellow/gold are opposite or complement colors on the color wheel.)
Whether they wind up working together or whether they clash (as Viktor loses himself) or if it's a mix of both, I think Mel and Viktor are destined to collide in season 2.
So where does this leave Jayce?
FIRE 🔥
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fire for Jayce means more than one thing. The first thing that should come to mind is the fire of the forge. Creation and industry. The legacy and hard work of his family.
However, his FIRST imagery with fire occurs when Elora says "Speak of the devil" and Jayce is framed in flames at Mel's fundraising party.
Tumblr media
He's similarly framed in the flames of a Molotov cocktail on the bridge between Piltover and the undercity with Viktor, after he's just called the people of the undercity dangerous.
Tumblr media
What I think we're being shown here are Jayce's choices. He can use his talents and influence for good - creation and industry - or he can use them for destruction and oppression. A hammer can create.
A hammer can also be a weapon, a tool of destruction:
Tumblr media
Fire can quickly burn and spread out of control.
Tumblr media
Hey look, blue all the way to magenta in one scene!
And if you know his original League lore, the reason why his rivalry with [REDACTED] crosses the point of no return - fire and destruction. Yeah.
Jayce is interesting because his point position in the Mel-Viktor-Jayce trifecta makes it tempting to assign celestial imagery to him, too. However, adult Jayce is only present with Hexcore, star, and sun imagery when he is sharing a scene with Viktor or Mel respectively.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The show makes it a point that Mel and Viktor are the reasons he is the Man of Progress at all:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Note that Jayce in the center of his Man of Progress posters is backed by a gear (Viktor) and the sun (Mel). If Viktor had not intervened in episode 2, Jayce would be dead or disenfranchised. If Mel had not intervened in episode 3, then Jayce AND Viktor would have been kicked out of the Academy if not imprisoned or exiled, and Hextech with Jayce and Viktor at the helm would not exist.
(This is reaching, but I like to interpret that the circle + notches in the gear shape are like Viktor's star symbolism, but even if that's the big reach that I think it is, Viktor is a machinist, engineer, and techmaturgist with Artificer parents - the gear definitely represents him on a meta level)
The imagery that I believe is Jayce's and Jayce's alone is that of fire. He is terrestrial, using magic contained within tools the way he has always wanted to bring Hextech to every household, while Mel and Viktor are influenced by magic on a whole other level.
Sure would be a shame if Jayce found a reason to choose the path of destruction and be corrupted further, diverging from Mel and Viktor's core values
Tumblr media
Sure would be a shame if Viktor's personal choices had consequences that radiated out further than season 1 and he gets put on a disastrous collision course with everything that Jayce and by extension Piltover hates and fears
Tumblr media
Sure would be stressful for us if Arcane decided to be a Greek tragedy about it
Though possibly the most important piece of this picture is how Mel - gold like the sun, gold that doesn't tarnish or rust, gold that is an excellent conductor - has already faced the abyss and said NO to her own corruption:
Tumblr media
It sure would be something for her to have to watch Jayce and Viktor go down a different path, huh

Constructing your DR: a little rant on how I approach it and theories! It's pretty long, haha.
Tumblr media
Disclaimer: Everything said within this post is my own interpretation/opinion based on personal experiences. Take what is relevant and leave whatever doesn't resonate behind. I am no authority on this subject, just a very keen enthusiast. Send me an ask if you have any further questions or comments. I'll try to answer them as best as I can. 🔮 *beautiful divider made by @firefly-graphics
This is my take on Astral Space/DR creation. It's a bit of a long-winded read. But, I figured writing about my process before I started to talk about my DRs would be good. I'm very new to the Shiftblr community but not new to the practice. I've been doing it since I was young. And I hope whoever reads this gets some ideas to incorporate into their own DR & Astral Space creation.
[Theory and Philosophy]
🌕 So first off, let's establish what the "astral plane" is. In my practice and experience, it is the liminal space between the subconscious, conscious, and intuitive mind. A doorway in the pineal gland that we can journey through to discover truth & meaning. It's a malleable psychic landscape that exists both inside & outside of ourselves which connects us to all  possible places...both real and imaginary. It's one realm (or layer) we go to when we dream at night. And one that ghosts, gods, guides, demons, angels, & other kinds of incorporeal spirits use to communicate directly with the material living; us sentient beings. Everyone is connected to the astral plane. Even those people who cannot visualize in their mind or aren't particularly interested in spirituality...
I also believe in my practice that the astral plane directly overlaps 3-D reality. Parts of  it, therefore, can actually be tied to actual (physical) locations, time periods, worlds, & even objects. Usually those objects that have gained a certain amount of energy or spiritual force to it. And I mention periods of time because the astral isn't limited by linear time. So, all time is accessible inside it.
🌕 What is an "astral space", then? If you can imagine the astral plane as an onion (having many layers) then an astral space would be the individual cells within the material of the onion. Our own imagination and dreams are contained within cells inside the astral plane that are specifically tied to each of us. Some cells can be connected to each other. Those who can travel into other people's dreams or inside other people's minds are adept at the art of linking up their cells to someone else's and traveling in-between them. While most people are unconscious of the collective astral spaces of the astral plane, only aware when interacting with them in dreams, through various forms of trance/meditation (focused visualization) some people can explore astral space/s, link to other people's astral spaces, and even design or add new ones to their cell.
In my opinion, I don't make any distinction between a person's astral space and a DR. Also known as a "desired reality" or "astral temple" or a "mind palace." I think the only difference, if there is any, is the purposes they're used/created for. A desired reality tends to be more self-indulgent while an astral temple is made to be a space where one can do magic and a mind palace is for memory retention or exploring yourself & your psyche. But they all exist within the same venn diagram. They're all spaces in the astral plane attached to our dreaming and imaginative functions. There's likely a lot of overlap between them.
🌕 How did the astral plane come to be? I do not know, to be honest. I only have theories. My most solid theory is that the astral plane is a natural consequence of dreaming beings & lifeforms (not restricted to life on Earth) in the same way that casting a shadow upon a wall is a natural consequence of there being sunlight. The astral is a twin reflection of the waking world; influenced by it, not restricted by it, and beholden to its own laws. Just like life here on Earth adheres to gravity/physics & chemistry. Greek mythologies say that the astral plane was the home of the Oneiros & Morpheus, God of Dreams, long before any human dreamt the first (human) dreams. Of course, it's called "Erebos" in Greek mythos. Not the "astral plane." And was likened to a dark cave in a land of eternal night beyond the rising sun. Kind of sounds like the very first settlements that our earliest ancestors had when the world was young, huh?? The Aboriginal culture of Australia believed that The Dreamtime (or what I think is the "astral plane") came before life & creation. And that both things only came about because of The Dreaming. And sprang forth from it. But no, I don't have a definitive answer here for you & I don't think I ever will.
🌕 Why is the astral plane important?? Well, apart from it being the blueprint upon which all material form derives, I believe the astral plane/s are important because of the wealth of self-knowledge & personal gnosis we can gain from exploring it. Another cool aspect of the astral plane that I think is important is how useful it is for spiritual & metaphysical practitioners who have to hide their craft. Or those people who're economically limited & don't have space for an altar/access to any tools, ritual ingredients, ect. Learning how to work with the astral plane & create your own astral space can be an invaluable resource in those instances...
Which leads me to the point of this post:
[The Taglock Method]
🌕 Step 1: Give your Astral Space a purpose.
In my experience, giving your astral space a reason for existing (even the smallest or most ridiculous reason) will solidify it and give it life. Try to make your intention/s as clear as possible. I find that the less grand & complex directives usually have the best chance at gaining energetic traction. With this step, you can also create a sigil (a sign or symbol) that embodies the purpose of your intention/s or represents your astral space in some way. If you feel a bit lost on this step, sometimes the best intention to start off with is making a space to talk to your spiritual guides, your ancestors, OCs, or your favorite comfort characters.
🌕 Step 2: Give your Astral Space aesthetics and lore.
Just like a story or fanfic, give your astral space some interesting background info. Is it filled with Studio Ghibli forest spirits? Or maybe it's an empty and vast library of sentient books? How about a world made of floating islands, wandering dragons, & medieval kingdoms??? Include whatever most inspires you!! Your ability to imagine is pretty much the limit. Giving your astral space lore can also include programming (scripting) in fixed locations or characters to interact with. According to your tastes, you can go heavy on the scripting or keep it open & loose. In my experience, allowing the astral space to develop its own myths and denizens keeps the energy of it more fun. And can also give you HUGE CLUES about yourself through the symbolism of its developing evolution. Giving your astral space lore is like tending a bonsai. Shape it. But avoid over pruning it. Along this line of thought, I hesitated giving my 4 astral spaces an official name at first because I wanted to discover it organically as I went exploring in them. Uncovering your astral space's true name could be a fun starter adventure for you!
🌕 Step 3: Safeguard your Astral Space.
When exploring the astral, you can never be too careful! Script in guardians or safe guards into your space that only activate on your command. Personally, I have set my 4 spaces up to react to a trigger word that if spoken aloud by me (and only me) will pop me out of the space and back into my CR (current reality) unscathed. If you aren't up for any risk or danger, you might want to script/program your astral space with orders that no violence/nothing weird occurs within your space at all. Or you can set it on a sliding scale of danger levels for those of you who crave chaos. Another tip I have for this step is to program in a "save point" or multiple save points that are only visible/accessible to you. The usefulness of scripting in save points into your astral space allows you to quickly recall certain fixed points within your space with ease... The same way that bookmarks help you to keep your place while reading a book. My save points are 4 specific animals unique to my 4 astral spaces. Whenever I need to "bookmark" a spot in my space, I usually look for the animal sculpture that's hidden within the landscape I'm exploring.
🌕 Step 4: Create a Taglock.
One of the most frustrating things about (consciously) creating an astral space is its tendency to erode/melt back into the astral plane over time. Just like cells in our bodies are replaced over time, the cells of our astral space are also replaced. Each & every dream, daydream, and vision for the future is a cell that eventually manifests in reality or returns back to the dream soup from whence it came. Unless, that is, you reinforce it (constantly) inside your mind. Here's where having a "taglock" comes in handy. For those who don't know what a taglock is, it's a physical item that anchors you (or a spell) to a person, physical place, idea, ect. You get the drift. A taglock that reinforces the concept behind your astral space can be a handy workaround to keep it from erosion & cement it. Your taglock can be as simple as a rock you discovered on the ground or as complex as a portrait you painted. The key factor in a taglock's usefulness is its ability to be within your line of sight (daily) or on your person so it can remind you of your astral space, thus reinforcing it, and keeping it solid in your mind. Also, in my lived experience, linking a physical object to your astral space/DR makes it way easier to shift into it.
⚠️ Side note: If for any reason you need to take a break away from your astral space, I'd recommend you place your taglock in a box and out of sight. Preferably one that's sealed up energetically/magically to prevent it from interacting with you in any way. Boxing your taglock is like putting your astral space in a deep sleep or suspended animation where it can remain fixed but won't be at the fore of your imagination.
🌕 Step 5: Imbue your Taglock with energy.
In my experience, when you first create an astral space, it's energetically taxing. Like a newborn baby, the astral space will need  nurturing, attention, and care. Especially if you're creating a DR/Astral Space that has no ties to any (already established) canon. In the case of energetically imbuing a DR/Astral Space that's based on a movie, TV series, mythology, videogame, or book, it is as simple as ingesting said media while holding/having your taglock on you. Then, anchoring in the vibes/concepts from said media into the taglock. But in the case of an original DR/Astral Space (one that has no source material to draw from), it'll take more finesse than simply feeding it your favorite media. You'll have to incorporate the taglock into your life. Eat with it, sleep with it, exercise with it, breathe on it, shed your tears on it, laugh with it...or even use ritual oils sold as curios in your local witch shoppe (or online) along with binging any media appropriate to the themes of your DR. I'd recommend using "Dream" oils for your purposes if you decide to incorporate oils at all with your taglock. This step will be the longest/hardest step in the process but is guaranteed to deliver you results if you keep at it consistently. Also, don't try to do this all at once. Pace yourself. It took me a whole month for my original concept DR/Astral Space to start taking shape and gain momentum before the real fun stuff happened.
⚠️ Side note: What happens if you lose your taglock?? Nothing at all. Your taglock serves as a reminder but it isn't the core link to your Astral Space/DR. Your mind and capacity to dream is. Simply obtain a new taglock that reminds you of your Astral Space/DR & link it up. You might find that as your DR/Astral Space grows, evolves, & changes so too will the taglock you use to reinforce it. While you could theoretically have many taglocks for 1 Astral Space, I'd recommend you focus your taglocks to one per each DR/Astral Space so the energetic link to it is more consolidated, not scattered amongst many different parts.
🌕 Step 6: Document any daydreams about your Astral Space.
During the process of the fifth step (and especially if you're an extra visual person) you might receive mental impressions or other sense phenomenon while powering your taglock. In my experience, these are signs that your Astral Space/DR is gaining "mass" and is starting to stabilize. And it's a good indication that your Astral Space/DR is ready to be shifted into & explored. Keep track of these very early impressions in a book or in electronic notes. While your Astral Space/DR might change and evolve a little more past this phase, these flickers of life might contain potent symbolic and metaphorical meaning to what you'll be encountering in your newly-born dream space in the future. And keeping track of them could come in handy for you later on.
🌕 Step 7: Remember to take a break.
Birthing a world is hard work!! None of the steps I've outlined should be tackled in the span of a day or a week. In my experience, it usually takes a month/month and a half to achieve all these steps in a healthy and stable way. Both for your Astral Space/DR and for yourself. Remember to take it at a slow and easy pace. If you should feel like you need to take a break, remember that you can always box up your taglock & put it somewhere out of sight/out of reach so that your focus goes elsewhere. Also, do your best to ground & re-center yourself after working with your Astral Space/DR. This work tends to be very ungrounding in its nature and can exasperate underlying issues if you do not learn to balance your DR/Astral Space life with your current life here in this reality. Eat, sleep, talk to your friends, do something good for yourself in this world. There is as much beauty and wonder here as there is in your dream cell.

So without being said, sit back, relax, and let’s dive into this world of magic and madness :)
PART TWO
PART THREE
PART ONE: A FOX’S BLESSING
Tumblr media
Inari-sama loved all of his children.
Kusuriuri knew and respected him as both his creator and the god of foxes, patron of merchants and swordsmiths. Yet for all of his daily prayers and offerings he had placed in his creator’s temples as he journey across the country slaying Mononoke, his patron was displeased with him. Inari-sama had offered him a reward for all the good deeds he had performed in this realm as a zenko every time he came to visit, and every time he refused. Kusuriuri did not need or want anything. Hearing Inari-sama’s words of gratitude is a reward in itself. His patron is unconvinced, however.
Inari-sama took a leaf from Benzaiten-sama’s scroll and decided that such a hard working child should have a companion to accompany him on his travels, someone to share his burdens and trials and accomplishments. In Kusuriuri’s case, he deserved to have a bride. Kusuriuri most certainly did not want or deserve a bride because slaying Mononoke is his only mission and purpose. Refusing his patron’s generosity, however, is an insult of the highest degree, equivalent to vandalizing any of his temples or blatantly denying his very existence.
And so Kusuriuri was left with little choice but to graciously accept Inari-sama’s gift…if he is permitted to test any potential candidate to prove their worthiness. Inari-sama accepted his request, but told him not to take too long in finding his bride and not to make the test too difficult. Kusuriuri promised, vowing to keep his word.
Yet as the days stretched to weeks to months to years, Kusuriuri met many candidates….but none of them passed his test. Just when the country entered the Meiji Restoration era, Inari-sama visited him again in a newly constructed temple, an extension of the main one, the Toyokawa Inari Temple, lined with thousands of statues built in his creator’s likeness and surrounded by trees. The serenity almost made Kusuriuri forget that the roads were no longer made from dirt and overgrown weeds, but from asphalt and emitted the noises of carriages and people walking from one place to another. Inari-sama was not pleased with him. Even as the zenko bowed his head to his patron, lowering his head until it touched the wooden floor, Kusuriuri could sense Inari-sama’s annoyance.
“You have not found a bride, my child. You gave me your word.” Inari-sama said. “Benzaiten has begun to wonder if she should offer one of her precious potions to help with your…situation.”
I do not deserve such kindness from Benzaiten-sama, my patron.” Kusuriuri replied smoothly. “I have searched for a bride…but none were able to pass my test, most unfortunate indeed.”
“If you are lying -”
“I am not.”
Inari-sama became silent, for only a moment, before Kusuriuri heard the pit-pat-pit-pat of his creator’s feet on the floor, walking towards him. He did not dare look up even when Inari-sama’s paw pressed against the back of his head and felt something wet warm lick his right thumb followed by a brief, white-hot sensation.
“It is done.” Inari-sama proclaimed. “Raise your head.”
Kusuriuri did so, looking directly at the massive stone statue of his patron, any trace of his presence vanishing even when he continued to speak to him.
“Leave this temple and follow the path that lies ahead, through the torii gates and beyond. Do not stop until the red string of fate guides to where you must go. Farewell, my dear son.”
Kusuriuri bowed to the statue, pulling the ropes of his medicine box over his shoulders before he departed the temple. Down the stone stairs, past the statues, and stopped at the torii gates, which were now lined with paper lanterns, the sound of suzu bells permeating the humid air. He glanced over his shoulder back at the temple before his feet carried him through the first gate.
Tumblr media
As the medicine seller walked, he noticed the torii gates dwindling, replaced with archways of ancient trees and paper lanterns transfigured into iron and glass, the flames glowing brightly as the forest grew darker. The air became cooler, and were filled with creatures he had never seen before; large lizards with iridescent wings ridden by smaller, humanoid beings covered in feathers and had antennae on top of their heads, laughing in silvery voices alongside tiny spheres of light. On the ground there were creatures dressed peculiarly, draped in moss and wore stone helmets. A couple of them even wore redcaps and carried shovels, a Western tool that has recently been imported into the country …although he can say with certainty that this place is no longer his homeland, and he longer possessed a human form.
He had been transformed back into a fox, yet his medicine box hadn’t vanished. It only shrunk to accommodate his current physical state. This was not good, because he cannot use the sealed sword of exorcism to slay Mononoke…but could he even call these creatures Mononoke?
He continued to follow the trail, the red string pulling him to the edge of the forest that led to a vast field. In the distance he could see stone houses lined up, leading to what might be a village. When he took a step forward, Kusuriuri yowled in pain. Looking down, he saw that his left paw had been caught in a steel trap. He was about to summon his magic to release the mechanism when two hands suddenly appeared, pulling the trap apart. Kusuriuri quickly removed his injured paw and looked up at the owner of the shadow that suddenly loomed over him.
It was a boy, no, a young man with light brown skin and wavy black hair, dressed in black trousers, a striped shirt, and a black jacket. Kusuriuri thought he’d be a human if he did not possess bright red eyes that were glaring at him.
“Who are you?” The not-human asked. “You’re not like any fae I’ve ever seen before.”
“And you are unlike any Mononoke I have seen.” Kusuriuri quipped, tilting his head. “Perhaps…an inugami?”
The not-human frowned. “I suppose you’re welcome is a bit much to expect from a fox.” He said, glancing down at the bleeding paw. “Can you walk?” Kusuriuri took a step forward, wincing slightly from the jolt of pain. The not-human sighed.
“Figures.” He leaned forward, scooping Kusuriuri up in his arms before standing at his full height. “I’ll take you to my master, she’ll fix you up in no time. Don’t even think about declining because she will force you to take medicine. Seeing anyone, neighbor or human, hurt bothers her a lot.”
“And what, pray tell, is a neighbor?” Kusuriuri asked.
The not-human trudged through the moors as he explained that ‘neighbor’ was just another name for fae, a race of beings that have the ability to conjure magic for themselves or to aid others. If the medicine seller saw ones that possess a human form but have wings and talons, those were the prank-loving Ariels. The not-human, introducing himself as Ruth, is a Church Grim. He was tasked with chasing away robbers from a church before he formed a familiar contract with his master. Fae existed all over the world, but they were ruled by the King and Queen of their kingdom.
Kusuriuri hummed. So, there were different creatures than Mononoke in this world. He looked down and saw that the red string, now tied to his ankle, was glowing brighter and began tugging him forward even when he was securely held in Ruth’s grasp. The moors transformed into cobblestoned streets and he can see the stone houses more clearly; some were large, some were small, there were gardens and there wasn’t. The one Ruth took them to was a large two-story residence lined with meticulously trimmed flowers on either side.
It would have been a lovely sight but seeing dozens of sheep with glowing blue wings floating around the house rattled Kusuriuri, making his fur stand up on end in alarm. Ruth must have seen the look on his face, saying, “Relax. These aren’t neighbors. The wooly bugs are closer to animals and very few individuals are able to see them. Well, here we are.” He approached the wooden door, grabbing the golden knob and twisting it to the left.
“I’m back.” He called, stepping inside. “[First Name], I’ve got a patient! Some stupid human laid another bear-trap by the forest’s edge again!”
Kusuriuri glanced around. The area they were standing in by the door was the place to leave shoes, but there were hooks nailed into the wall, and a folded umbrella in a tall, cylinder-shaped bin. As Ruth moved further into the house, his mind began to spin in confusion.
Instead of being separated by sliding doors, the kitchen and the dining rooms were open, covered in wooden furnishings, lights were suspended from the ceiling, and the walls were covered in paper that had irises on them yet they weren’t painted by hand. There were books, paintings, and potted plants everywhere, and so many doors on the left and right side that Kusuriuri’s headache worsened.
Western decorations were so much more complicated than the ones in his homeland.
Eventually Ruth entered a room where there were windows that let in natural light. Towers of books laid on the wooden floor even when there were more bookshelves pressed against the wall. Hunched over a desk, surrounded by glass beakers, mortar and pestles and coiled burners and notes scattered across the space was a young woman dressed in unusual clothes who lived in an unusual house with a snippy Church Grim.
This is how Kusuriuri met his final bridal candidate; the mage of the countryside and overseer of the Fae, [First Name] [Last Name].
[“She’s not a guardian, moron. If anything, they flock to her.” Ruth grumbled as he watched his master apply ointment and bandaged the guest’s wounded paw once the blood had been wiped away with water.]
In his defense, Kusuriuri didn't know there were others that existed in this world except Mononoke. [First Name] chastised Ruth for being rude to their guest in a soft, low voice reminding him how confused he had been when he first became her familiar when all he had ever known was the church he’d been protecting. Ruth had the grace to look a little ashamed, though blithely said he doesn’t trust their guest either.
[First Name] raised a brow, leaning back against the wooden chair. “You never trust anyone who approaches me, Ruth. But couldn’t you say that I’m not as afraid or reckless as I used to be?”
“I beg to differ. You haven’t changed at all.”
“Being a bit harsh, don’t you think?”
“No.”
As the Grim argued one-sidedly with his mistress, Kusuriuri stared at [First Name]. At first glance, she didn’t seem remarkable except for the clothes she wore. If they were back in his homeland, she would dominate the Meiji era’s fashion trend, the embodiment of an independent woman. Shiny, healthy [Hair Color] tresses were pulled back by a [Favorite Color] ribbon, cascading past her neck, inquisitive [Eye Color] irises twinkling with curiosity and amusement. Immortal child of Inari-sama he may be, Kusuriuri could never accurately determine a human’s age.
He did wonder, in the back of his mind, why her left arm looked as if it had been carved from dark wood to resemble a dragon’s claw rather than flesh and blood.
Tumblr media
According to mythology, the zenko are benevolent servants of Inari, kitsune who descend to the mortal realm to perform good deeds in their patron's honor. Some of these zenko are said to be incredibly powerful.
Given to the mystery of Kusuriuri's origins in Mononoke, it is strongly implied in the series that he is not in fact a human, but something else entirely. It is possible that Kusuriuri is in fact a zenko, though we will never know for certain...

SCALES OF JUSTICE - BETA TESTERS NEEDED
Hi dear readers,
Thank you for your overwhelming trust and support. The opinions that I've collected over the past few days have finally motivated me to put aside my self-criticism and doubt, and to make the next step towards SoJ's release.
Yes, Scales of Justice is now officially in its BETA-test phase!!
If you would like to help me by being a BETA-tester for my book, please, comment under this post, send me a direct message, or message me on CoG's forum. I aim to take around 20 to 30 people, so we can have a big and productive group that nonetheless remains constructive in its feedback.
If you don't have the time or you don't want to be a tester, consider sharing this post, so it can get to as many of you as possible.
I will be working alongside the testers on improving style, grammar, and other minor details that require polishing as the month progresses. Hopefully, by the end of it we'll have an even better version of this book that will be submitted for approval to Hosted Games!
See you all very soon,
Julia xx
BOOK DETAILS:
DEMO DESCRIPTION:
Scales of Justice is a fantasy game situated in another world, far away from Earth. There are plenty of species living together in harmony, but the human race is currently split in two civilisations: the one known as Hero kingdom, which is ruled by ‘heroes’, and the one named Vannais kingdom, controled by ‘villains’. Both nations hate each other and the fight between ‘heroes’ and ‘villains’ here is something that happens on a national level. The game is focused on lore, on character development and your own perception of reality: perhaps, your MC just wants to live a peaceful life... or maybe wants to save the world.
Or even rule it, if you’re into such things.
THINGS TO DO IN THIS DEMO:
Set off on a new adventure towards Neutral Lands, to meet a mythic creature of all answers - The Visionary.
Gather up to 3 companions to help you in your quest - befriend, romance or rival them, the choice is yours.
Buy a horse - we know you want one.
Fight, conjure, support, speak or think - choose your way of handling a tricky situation.
Explore the kingdom of Hero up to Menai's shore, in search for someone - or something - to aid you in your journey.
The DEMO version of the book runs up to Chapter 5 and contains 276K words overall. I will be putting up updated versions of the first chapters as I work my way through them, so expect the DEMO version to become a polished reflection of what the final book will look like!

The Gingerbread Gauntlet (part 1)
Summary: The housewardens have a gingerbread house competition
A/N: I meant to have this ready for before Christmas but of course, life had other plans lol The good news though is that I have a whole bunch of new writing ideas and I'm hoping to bust out of my little creative slump once the holiday chaos dies down a bit <3 The overall fic is a bit long so I decided to break it into smaller parts for readability. I'll be posting one part per day and will add links for the other parts after they post <3
Part 1 - Part 2 - Part 3 - Part 4/END - AO3 (whole fic)
Word Count: 1.6k CW: crack, silly, shouting, insults, mild swearing, candy/gingerbread
Tumblr media
Winter at Night Raven College was a time even more magical than usual. Although the cafeteria was mostly empty, the sight of festive winter garlands draped elegantly along the walls, combined with the soft sounds of crackling flames in the grand fireplace, brought a cozy sense of winter cheer to the room. The alluring scents of sugary treats and winter spices wafted through the warm air from the kitchen nearby and from a long, solitary table set up by the doors to the kitchen. Already covered with an assortment of candies and plates of oddly shaped gingerbread cookies, the table was the very picture of a sweet and festive feast. Around the table, seven striking figures were seated an equal distance from each other and, as the snow softly began to fall from the sky outside, they quietly worked with the bounty of sugary confections before them.
~
“I swear on the Noble Rulebook of the Queen of Hearts, if I find out someone has been hoarding all of the rose-shaped peppermints, it’s off with everyone’s heads!”
Leona drowsily raises an eyebrow at Riddle and smirks, “What’s the matter, housewarden? We just started. You losing your temper already?”
Riddle scoffs and wrinkles his nose at Leona’s slouching posture, “I’m not losing my temper! I’m trying to make sure there is an equitable distribution of candy decorations for everyone present to construct their gingerbread houses!” He picks up a paper that looks like an architectural blueprint and angrily jabs a finger at a particular section of the diagram. “I am building a gingerbread model of the Heartslabyul rose maze–to scale, I might add–and I require exactly 68 rose-shaped peppermints to construct it.”
Leona slowly blinks at the intricately detailed design in Riddle’s hands and then shakes his head with a soft chuckle. Reaching under his seat, he pulls out a large, glass bowl of rose-shaped candies and passes it to the Heartslabyul housewarden. Ignoring the death glare from Riddle, he turns to the other housewardens seated around the table and asks, ”Can someone remind me again why we’re doing this stupid gingerbread house competition? This seriously feels like a waste of my precious free time.”
Vil looks up from his gingerbread construction with an expression of withering scorn on his face, “We just went over everything not even a moment ago. Did you actually forget or were you just not paying attention in the first place?”
Kalim lets out a bright and hearty laugh from his seat at the table, “I think this is going to be a really fun activity!” He holds up a small gingerbread cookie decorated with dark colored icing and licorice in the image of Dire Crowley, “Plus, we have to do this because the headmaster asked us to!”  Waving the Crowley cookie in the air, he speaks in a surprisingly accurate impression of the headmaster, “I’ll be damned if I let those fools at RSA take home the trophy for the Isle of Sage’s gingerbread house competition another year in a row!”
Leona shakes his head with a slightly aggravated sigh, “I’m still failing to see why I, or any of us for that matter, should care about this useless endeavor.”
With a piping bag of white icing in one hand, Azul laughs softly and adjusts his glasses with the other hand, “There’s also the fact that whoever makes the best gingerbread house here today will receive a free PE class credit.”
Leona’s eyebrows rise in mild surprise and then he smirks. “Is that so? Well I suppose that explains why that guy over there is actually here in person for once,” he says as he points down towards the other end of the table.
Idia peers up from his work, the expression on his face equal parts gloomy and irritated, “Listen, I will do anything if it means I can miss any amount of PE.” Turning back to his geometric gingerbread design with a pout, he mutters under his breath, “Although, the main reason I’m actually here is because Ortho literally shot down my gingerbread construction drone.”
With a softly amused smile on his face, Malleus turns in his seat next to the Ignihyde housewarden and says, “Do try to cheer up, Idia. I’ve always felt that festive occasions such as these should be attended in person. A contraption built for the sole purpose of constructing with gingerbread could never replace someone special like you.”
“Oh-! Uh-! Th-thanks Malleus-shi! Th-that’s really nice of you to say,” Idia replies with a nervous grin. While keeping his gaze pinned to his work on the table, he then smoothly reaches into his pocket and rapid-fire taps out a message into his smartphone: AAGGGHH!!! WHYYY IS THE HEIR APPARENT OF BRIAR VALLEY SITTING NEXT TO ME?? SO DISTRACTING  (╥﹏╥)
A message notification chimes out from the phone in Azul’s front jacket pocket. After checking to make sure his hands are clean of icing, he takes out his phone and reads the message. With a playful smirk on his face, he taps out his reply: Honestly, I’m more surprised by the fact that Crowley actually remembered to invite Malleus this time. What a rare event!
Idia’s phone buzzes quietly in his pocket and he looks down to swiftly check the message. He glares over at Azul with a small frown and quickly types: yo speaking of rare events! are you wearing the glasses i made for you?? the ones with the built-in camera and mic?? because i deffo remember you saying that they were useless and not your style (¬、¬)
The sound of the cafeteria door loudly creaking open suddenly cuts off Idia and Azul’s silent conversation. All of the assembled housewardens turn to see two fluffy ears atop a head of messy, sandy-brown hair enter the room. With a mischievous grin and a hissing-kind of chuckle, Ruggie waves to the group, “Heya, everyone! I’m here for the gingerbread house competition.”
Riddle frowns at Ruggie while balancing two pieces of messily frosted gingerbread in his hands, “No, you certainly are not! This competition is for housewardens only!”
Leona lets out a loud yawn as he waves Ruggie over to the table. Turning to the rest of the group he explains, “It’s alright, I’m the one who called him here.” Handing Ruggie a piping bag of icing, Leona adds, “He’s gonna build my gingerbread house for me while I take a nap under the table.” Cries of outrage erupt from around the table and Leona’s ears twitch angrily as he raises his eyebrows at the grumbling housewardens.
While carefully setting down a slanted piece of gingerbread atop his elegantly constructed house, Vil states bluntly, “Ruggie is not allowed to build your house for you, Leona. Crowley explicitly instructed us to build these gingerbread houses without any magic or outside assistance.” Raising one perfectly shaped eyebrow, he smirks and adds, “If you want this free class credit, you’re going to have to put in some amount of work for once in your life.”
Leona directs a questioning look towards Ruggie who, in turn, raises his shoulders and shakes his head in resignation. Leona waves a hand dismissively at Ruggie, effectively shooing him out of the room, and clicks his tongue with annoyance, “Fine, fine. I got it. You don’t have to be such a bitch about it, though.” Grabbing a handful of candies and pieces of gingerbread, he then quickly and expertly begins assembling them together.
Without looking up from his work, Vil smoothly pipes extra icing on the corners of his house and replies in an even tone, “Call me by that word again and I’ll shave off all of your hair to weave into a throw rug for the Pomefiore common room.”
“Hey Vil,” Leona chirps out a soft whistle to catch the Pomefiore housewarden’s attention.
Letting out a short, aggravated sigh, Vil rolls his eyes and then looks over at Leona. “What,” he flatly asks.
With a heavy thud, Leona sets the end result of his hard work for the last few minutes on the table in front of him. Made from rounded pieces of gingerbread and decorated with brightly colored candies, is a large replica of a hand with a raised middle finger. Standing up from his seat, Leona flashes everyone a triumphant little smirk and then saunters out of the room without another word.
The remaining housewardens silently watch him leave and, as the cafeteria door creaks shut, they return to their work with a softly murmured chorus of disapproval. An uncharacteristic silence settles over the group as everyone focuses on their individual gingerbread designs for the next few minutes.
Kalim finally breaks into the quiet with a bright laugh, “It's too bad Leona decided to leave early! I just finished making his cookie counterpart!” He holds up a Leona-shaped gingerbread cookie decorated with chocolate candies and a tiny feline scowl drawn in icing.
Looking up from his work, Vil studies the little cookie with an irritated glare. Wordlessly, he reaches across the table to pluck the Leona cookie from Kalim’s hand and then snaps the head off of the gingerbread figure. Handing the beheaded cookie back to Kalim, Vil flatly states, “My apologies.”
After carefully laying the broken pieces of Leona on a plate, Kalim holds up two additional gingerbread figures. One is decorated with marshmallow pieces and little wolf ears. The other is decorated with fluffy peanut butter frosting and hyena ears. Waving the wolf-eared cookie through the air, Kalim yells in a low, gruff voice, “Oh no! Housewarden Leona! I'll find out who did this to you and avenge the honor of our dorm!” Wiggling the hyena-eared cookie, Kalim says in a smoother, teasing voice, “Shyeheehee! Does this mean I get the rest of the day off?”

What is this show?
Sports Night was, in many ways, the prequel to The West Wing: Aaron Sorkin’s short-lived show about the people behind a sports show, ESPN-inspired because he had been watching a lot of ESPN at the time. The two anchors, Dan and Casey, have the kind of chemistry that made my sister (who was never into fandom even a little) say mere seconds after walking in to the room, “They’re kind of gay, aren’t they?” Dan is played by Josh Charles, who you may know from The Dead Poets Society or perhaps The Good Wife; the show originally aired in 1998-2000, so he is just a little baby here. Casey is played by Peter Krause, who you may know from that new fireman show (911?) or Six Feet Under. They are huge goobers and very bangable. Excellent grist for the shipping mill.
You have a rich cast of characters, though—there is the show’s producer Dana, who is insane like all the best Sorkin women; the executive producer Isaac, who is lovable and grumpy and full of wisdom; the neurotic nerd Jeremy; the assistant producer Natalie, a tiny pint of spitfire. There are toothsome villains like Sally Sasser, who’s gunning for Dana’s job, but the eternal enemy is The Suits, the corporate types who want the show to be profitable above all else.
Season One is great. It’s magical. In Season Two, Sorkin started doing a lot of drugs again and was also starting West Wing so the writing and characterization suffered horribly. However, there are still some moments that demand confrontation and reconciliation with the canon as a whole, and I find the whole dynamic fascinating. Sorkin can’t write women for shit because to him, all women are crazy bitches and who knows why they do what they do—but he still manages to construct appealing people out of them, until he lets it all collapse like soggy tissue paper in Season Two.
The acting is brilliant. The writing is hilarious. (Until partway into Season Two.) Josh Charles is, in my opinion, the narrative heart of it—his pain and fear and hitherto undiagnosed anxiety disorder anchor the story in a way that Casey’s will-they-won’t-they with Dana can’t, because of Sorkin’s shortcomings in writing women.
I loved the show when it initially aired, bought the DVDs when they were released even though I didn’t have money—because back then we didn’t have the option of finding videos on the Internet, so it was the only answer to years of not being able to watch it. I’ve watched it several times over the years, Season One much more than Season Two. I’ve made three vids, written a slew of stories, and the longest one is a 70,000 word epic exploring how therapy might help someone like Casey actually be happy instead of a miserable bastard (“A Form in Wax,” available on AO3).
I love this brief, flawed show. I love it even though Felicity Huffman, who played Dana, turned out to be part of that scandal a few years back where rich parents paid to get their kids into prestigious schools for “sports” that they didn’t even play. I love it even though I had to stop following Joshua Messina, who played Jeremy, on Twitter years ago because his bitter, angry, often sexist takes kept bothering me more and more. None of the people are perfect. The writing isn’t perfect. But the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

Introduction to the Rock of Eternity~✨
This was my first time trying to make a drawing with a full background, a character, and shading and it took soOoOo long 😭 lmfao.
Anyways, this is my finished concept art for the train car that Billy gets off of once he’s magically transported to the Rock of Eternity. This version of the Rock of Eternity is a series of floating island that is in the middle of The Magic Realm.
This version of the Rock of Eternity is filled to the brim with jungle and rainforest nature and animals. That is how Tawny comes into the story. Tawny is a magical tiger who is the Wizard’s right-hand pet. They have a magical gemstone embedded in their head that grants them the power of telepathy, allowing them to communicate with others around them. They are not humanoid. They walk on four legs like a tiger and aren’t really fond of wearing human clothes.
I still have to draw the throne room for the champions, that’s where I want The Wizard and Tawny to spend most of their time. Working together as they divide up their time between recording/collecting ancient magic artifacts, resolving magic-related issues, and overall just trying to keep The Magic Realm safe. The Rock of Eternity is a protected hub of information and resources for anyone who is interested in learning about magic.
[ WRITING CONTINUES BELOW ⬇️ ✍️📝 ]
⚠️ Content warning: mentions of slavery in ancient Egypt, mentions of tyranny, clear portrayals of villainous intent, moral corruption etc.
It is a tireless job, that always has a constant flow of work to be completed. This also explains why The Wizard is looking for a champion of magic. He is looking for a pupil to train. Someone who will assist him protecting/saving the other realm. The Wizard sees The Mortal Realm as a mess that is in desperate need of assistance.
The Wizard decides to launch a project where he will expand his influence to The Mortal Realm in an attempt to solve all the problems he sees that plague the mortals of Earth. This project starts roughly about 5,000 years ago, when The Wizard believes he has found a worthy champion, Teth-Adam.
Teth-Adam proves to be a very powerful champion, who actively trains his newfound powers to help harness them to their full potential. He also becomes very involved in his studies of magic. Spending his early adulthood growing alongside The Wizard and Tawny as they eventually form a family-like connection. This joyful aspect of Adam’s life is in sharp contrast to his life in The Mortal Realm. Where he is a slave in ancient Egypt, being forced to help with the construction of the pyramids.
Eventually, Adam starts to corrupt. He returns to The Mortal Realm and begins to use his powers as a tyrant. He successfully frees the people of Egypt from their current enslavement however, instead of letting them roam free and begin to build their own lives, Adam has a different plan in mind. With his arrogance and ego afoot, he decides that he is the one true ruler of Egypt, and seizes complete control of the country.
Adam believes that he is the best possible person to rule over Egypt. He sees himself as a strong, competent leader. A pillar of strength who wants to optimize Egypt to it’s fullest potential. As his overt political power starts to corrupt him, Adam starts to micromanage the Egyptian people, turning the country into a complete and total dictatorship.
The Wizard sees this corruption that Adam is forcing over the people in Egypt and tries to talk some sense into him. Telling Adam that he did a good thing by freeing the people of Egypt however, in seizing complete control over the country he himself has become the one of tyrants he swore to destroy. Adam isn’t hearing any of it, he believes he is different from any previous leaders of Egypt because he has the country’s best interests at heart. Everything he has done in his rule has only improved the country, so he was clearly destined to be Egypt’s one true leader.
The Wizard then realizes that there is no getting through to Adam. They have a dramatic confrontation. The Wizard with a heavy heart, realizes that Adam has grown to be a very powerful advisory and is willing to fight for his rule over Egypt.
The Wizard eventually wins the battle however, doesn’t have the heart to kill Adam because they formed a very strong father/son relationship over the years as The Wizard was training Adam as his champion. As a last resort The Wizard decides to banish Adam to the furthest star in the galaxy. The Wizard reverses Adam’s influence over Egypt. He helps them to establish a proper democracy before returning to The Magic Realm to grieve over what he had to do to Adam, someone he saw as his own son.
The Wizard and Tawny mourn for many moons, causing the Wizard to put an indefinite pause on his project, leaving The Mortal Realm with no champion for the time being.
Fast forward about 5,000 years, The Wizard realizes in his old age, that he is growing weaker and weaker as the centuries pass. He ponders the idea of trying to find another Champion of Magic. Tawny tries to talk him out of it, reminding him of how poorly that went last time and saying there is no reason to want to do that again. The Wizard eventually changes Tawny’s mind once he reminds his fuzzy friend that once the Wizard is dead and gone, that Tawny will be unable to keep up with the responsibilities of the Rock of Eternity all by themselves.
The Wizard doesn’t really want to find a new champion, but he deems it necessary because he wants to make sure there is always enough people/resources to keep the balance of magic. He wants to personally train a mortal to eventually one day take over his duties, guiding them closely to make sure they are on the correct path. Hoping that now that he and Tawny are both wiser and older that they can find one pure, good soul to build into the perfect hero, and avoid repeating their old mistakes.
The Wizard and Tawny search for hundreds of years in an attempt to try and find a new Champion of Magic, but no one they bring to the Rock of Eternity seems to have a completely pure and good soul.
After years and years of tirelessly searching, they eventually stumble upon Billy Batson. Unfortunately Billy, like everyone who came before him, has imperfections and moments of human weakness that lead The Wizard and Tawny to initially discard him as a possible champion.
Then Billy questions their judgment, questioning them if there is such a thing as a “completely pure good person”, explaining that everyone has their flaws no matter how “good” they are. Suggesting that The Wizard and Tawny have been searching for so long because they’re looking for peoples flaws instead of their strengths.
This convinces The Wizard to change the conditions of his search. Deciding to comb over Billy’s mind again, but this time looking for the good within him instead of his flaws. The Wizard begins to see that Billy has a lot of moments that show him being a good kid and genuinely trying to help people, showing that Billy genuinely has a good heart.
The Wizard and Tawny mull over this decision and bicker amongst each other. They eventually decide that the Wizard has already burned thousands of years on this search so far, and they don’t know how much longer he has left to live as it is. Better to choose this kid who obviously has a good heart, and help mold him into a hero than to wait around for another thousand years, possibly having The Wizard die before he ever found a replacement.
And then, The Wizard decides to bestow the powers of Shazam to Billy Batson, making him the next Champion of Magic.
Very shortly after this decision is made, Adam returns to Earth. He has spent the last five thousand years traveling across the galaxy in an attempt to eventually make it back to Earth. He is very hurt by the Wizard’s decision to banish him to the furthest star in the galaxy and seeks to make amends.
However, when Adam finds out that The Wizard has chosen a new champion this sends him into a complete and utter rage. He sees this as The Wizard trying to replace him, both as a champion and as a son.
It’s a total slap in the face to Adam since he just spent the last 5,000 years traversing the cosmos to see The Wizard again. Adam sees it as a complete dismissal of the deep and meaningful familial connection they once shared to replace him with his new champion, Billy.
Adam knows that Billy is on the same path that he once was, being trained by The Wizard and Tawny to become the new Champion of Magic, and that they eventually plan to have him manage/protect The Rock of Eternity.
Adam resents the idea that he could ever be replaced and seeks to seize control over The Rock of Eternity. He plans to kill both The Wizard and his new champion to prove his superiority and “show them” that he was always destined to be the one true champion of magic.
His villainous behavior is not only motivated by his desire to have control, but also by his deep internal hurt of being replaced by Billy. Adam sees the terms “champion” and “son” as interchangeable. To him they mean the same thing, and Adam will stop at nothing to prove himself because deep down he wants The Wizard’s approval.
The Wizard and Tawny were the closest thing Adam ever had to a real family and after spending thousands of years trying to get back to them, he returns only to find he’s been replaced, and that is a pain he’s never felt before.
Adam doesn’t know how to cope with the feelings that erupt within him besides crushing all competition and once again using his tyrannical personality traits to try and prove his worth.
End. ⚡️
Wow that was a long one, lol. Anyways I hope you guys enjoyed. I know the writing of this post was a post about Black Adam’s origins rather than The Rock of Eternity, but I hope you enjoyed regardless.
As always let me know what you guys think. I’m always open to suggestions since I’m making my own version of Shazam anyways lol. ⚡️💕

wooooooooaahh lots of ppl wanted to hear about the au so uh explanation ( also sorry it was late at a party rn)
Magical Girl Au Explanation Thinggy..
Before everyone chose to be a magical girl, they were once all human untill meeting Caine. Caine is some magical being along his buddy Bubble who he made. Caine has good intentions but due to his lack of understanding human emotions, does intentions back fired. He seen how humans have suffered, either by pain, depression, ect. He wanted to help the humans by either turning their lives more fun n stuff. I haven't thought on what he does but the idea was there are the Abstractions and creatures (example like the gloinks) that wreck people's lives but nobody can see them. As they live in this sorta circus themed world thats you can only kinda can get there without magiccccc....n stufffffffff. Caine decided to gather people who were willing to destroy those monsters, again this au is going through construction so I haven't figured out for some parts like why Caines intentions backfired so if yall wanna give out ideas I'd be happy to hear em. Back to what I was saying, Caine manage to get a few members for his group or whatever u wanna call it. Alot on who he gathered got abstracted ( alot of this is inspired by Puella Magi Madoka Magica so alot of it will be similar to that anime) so the previous members are now Abstractions (like previous magical girls turn into witches) All of the members were once human, but apon meeting Caine. Caine came to the conclusion that the human body was just to weak for them to fight so he came with a solution. By using his power, he turned their human body to these magical forms, essential what they are in the digital circus. But these body aren't human at all, they don't have organs or look anywhere near human like that so that strikes another problem. Since they can live in the human world anymore, Caine decided to create a new home for them, The Digital Circus. All of the members were devastated to learn that their lives were taken away and now having to live in some circus well just like the show... they abstracted. I might go for an idea that Caine erases all of their old memory to help with their sadness but again with it backfiring with them going insane n stuff. Again feel free to leave out ideas.
So now we begin with our story starting with Pomni. Pomni or whatever her human name would be (Pammy? Pamantha? Poppy?) She's is a depressed, overworked, and very much hates her job, office worker. Working for a company ( maybe for a game uh again not sure) who desperately wants to change herself, to prove the people around her that she can do something, that she can make a change, to have a purpose. That goal could spark the interest of Caine, so one day appearing in front of her to make a deal. Maybe possibly one of the monsters attack her. Either by accidentally going to the magic world thingy on mistake ( she maybe noticed a weird group of them going to this portal, or by just peer dumb and bad luck...she would have lots of bad luck) Possibly Caine saves her or the group instead. Which ever I go for Caine strikes a deal with her and she goes along with it because of the desperation to be something. And once she actually learns the horror of this new body and new home, she regrets it...as all the others during there first times. Now me meet the group, starting with the oldest
Kinger, the one who's been apart of the group the longest and most wisest. He's somehow been able to stay somewhat same but due to so much time dealing with all the craziness and losing someone dear to him. The magical girl gig has kinda broken him away so especially he's the plan/ smart guy in the group. Telling information for the group for missions and strategies.
Then Ragatha who's the second oldest member. She is essentially the mom friend, who often aids her friends during battles and keeping check of anyone (especially after someone abstracts) She tries to put on a happy face and cheerfully personality to keep her sanity, as it's her way to deal with her forever situation.
Jax is the third, he's the playful and prankster as always. Often teasing and annoying his teammates whenever he has the chance to. Jax often doesn't wait to attack during missions and ignores everyone's warning, unless Caine gets him to sit down and listen. But all of the sass and humor is his way to cope with the situation.
Gangle is the fourth member of the group, she's quite soft spoken and scared. As she still struggles a bit of her situation, and relys on her mask to deal with her emotions. Although she isn't weak, she can find herself to cower over some missions if they get to much. Mostly when she doesn't have her happy mask on, and that mask helps her with confidence. Although her emotions help her boost her strength if in very strong emotions. Her coping is practically relying on her masks to keep her happy, although a certain someone keeps breaking them.
Zooble is the fifth and came not long after Gangle. They are a distant and "idgaf" type of person, often trying to not get close with anyone and to just get over with it. Zooble sorta chills there untill they go to another mission, and their distancing is their way of coping. Not wanting to make connections to people in fear of losing them, just over all wanting to do the missions and nothing else.
The basic plot of it is Pomni and everyone else going to mission while they slowly start to find out more and more about everything to who they are, Caine and his secrets, and the universe itself. Anyways that's what I'm going to leave off, have a sketch of Pomni and Ragatha designs. I do plan on finnish it aswell with everyone's else but im tired and I wanna go to bed. Also credits to @massivemilkshaketale giving me ideas for this au, ily all and gn :33

(Pandora's) Box provided sage guides in the form of love interests. As I mentioned previously, Hongjo was able to open the box by saying, "Please, can you come?", out loud while thinking about Jaekyung being there to help her. With all of the questioning he's done both to Hongjo and Shinyu regarding their relationship and the preview next week showing that he's been told about the love spell, I realized he is the guide for their relationship to make themselves ask the hard questions, reflect on what they truly feel and lead them to action towards each other. Jaekyung is there to help her just like she magically asked. After she first opened the box, Jaekyung rejected her love confession, even though we learn later that he does indeed like her but feels he's too cold and odd to be good for her. However, Jaekyung's rejection is the very thing that compels her to cast the first spell to begin her journey towards her fate that is entwined with Shinyu. Even in this, Jaekyung was unknowingly her guide to help her do exactly what she needed to do at the right time.
It may be a cruel fate for a sage guide to be a love interest (almost as cruel as it is to be a Second Male Lead) but people need a reason to care for and meddle in someone else's life. If you're not family, a longtime friend or co-worker, or a wise old person sought out for advice then love interest is most reasonable choice. But I did say sage guides, plural, because there is another one.
Kim Wook (forever Imoogi in our hearts) has unwittingly become a sage guide for Shinyu's parents. With the opening of (Pandora's) box, all hell has broken loose and whatever curse was put on their family is in flux. It appears the curse could be temporarily curbed if you truly fall in love as Shinyu's parents did since his mom was an actress and not the normal choice for a respectable rich wife. They noted at the beginning how his dad and grandfather were bucking the trend in not dying young. It was also interesting how his father met with Nayeon separately to convince her to stay by his son's side despite the fact that he broke up with her. I'm sure this was in an attempt to save his son's life by keeping Shinyu's love by his side to curb the curse. Though he doesn't know Shinyu and Nayeon have never truly loved each other.
Which brings us back to Shinyu's parents' marriage falling apart after the box was opened because their love is entwined with the family curse. It is likely that with Shinyu's mom's love wavering for her husband, his health will start to rapidly decline. His stomach being too upset to go stargazing with his wife might have been the start of it. While their fate is tied to the outcome of whether Shinyu and Hongjo's relationship is able to break the curse, they also have their own things to work through in parallel. And like Hongjo, Shinyu's mom called up her own sage guide to help with her issues in lawyer and potential love interest Kim Wook, whom she's now running into coincidentally as well.
The Villainess Trio. Our villains are now emerging. From the beginning we had the horrible Haum Construction CEO Lee Hyunseo, now back and making shady deals with Onju's corrupt mayor, who is also the father of Nayeon, Shinyu's two-faced, vain girlfriend who's in charge of the latest Onju city project they are all working on. Shinyu left his prestigious law firm to fight corporate corruption, especially against Haum. This will now pit him directly against his girlfriend and her father.
Which bring us to their past lives and the origin of the curse. It's safe to say that the past is repeating itself with a chance to change the outcome in the present since this is clearly a reincarnation story. This means many people from the past are together in the present, including the villains who won the first time around. Nayeon joked that she was a princess in a past life. With her father mayor in the present, it would not be shocking if her father was previously a king and his daughter a princess, desperate to get her way and marry a handsome nobleman, Shinyu in his past life. He wasn't interested in her so she had a shaman put a curse on him, that he needed to fall in love to survive. Only to be thwarted by Shinyu falling in love with a court lady, Hongjo in her past life. So Princess Nayeon had her father's loyal henchman, Haum CEO in his past life, kill Court Lady Hongjo, who died in the arms of her love, Nobleman Shinyu, reaching up to caress his cheek with her bloody hand to comfort him with her final breaths. But after Court Lady Hongjo died, he still refused Princess Nayeon and died young. Unfortunately, the curse didn't just apply to him but included his entire family line. Obviously this a speculation, but I've seen enough reincarnation stories to have a rough notion of how this plays out. Facts are that Shinyu has been dreaming about his past life, saw and chased a vision of Hongjo in a court lady hanbok through the Changdeokgung Palace, and has a comforting bloody hand of one whom he killed haunting him because of his family's death curse. The rest we'll find out soon enough.
