I am procrastinating homework and finals studying so I'm making another DPxDC au -- or more accurately, I am making an au of an au. or combining two aus to make a third one, because I am Procastinating And thinking about it.
(the part two for my Danny is Jason Todd au is like,,, half-made and I will get around to finishing it, promiiissse)
So the two aus I had in mind were combining, of course, the two clone aus - the Danny Clone and the Damian Clone au. For folks who haven't seen either posts (or saw one but not the other) here are summaries of both:
Damian Clone Au: The LoA make a clone of Damian Wayne specifically to either kill Damian Wayne and have the clone take his place as the heir to the LoA, or to bring him back. At 6 years old though and through magical teleportation mishaps, Baby Damian ends up in the warehouse district of Amity Park and picked up (and later adopted) by Danny Fenton. They develop a brotherly dynamic with one another.
Danny Clone Au: Danny is straight up a clone of Bruce Wayne, doesn't find out until a year after he has his accident. And, for the fun of it, is also mostly-powerless (he retains his ghost sense and a semblance of a ghost core and signature, but no ghost form). His reasoning for becoming Phantom is because he has walked into the lab watching his parents dissecting ghosts post-portal working more times than he can count. And due to this, changes his beliefs from "ghosts are evil" to "ghosts are sentient and sapient beings who don't deserve this treatment". (masterpost pinned on my blog, its currently incomplete) He is also a little GNC, as a treat. Long-haired Danny ftw. Ellie is a halfa because of the ectoplasm that Vlad used, and also the same age as Danny. They call each other twins and she is viciously protective of him. He uses a baseball bat and brass knuckles that I call 'jawbreakers' to fight ghosts.
Now admittedly, not much probably changes with the combination of these aus other than the potential parallels between Damian and Danny, and Bruce and Damian - and of course, I am always a sucker for parallels. Plus Damian's running off would take Danny finding him much longer, since he can no longer fly, but all the more meaningful because he still took so much time to find him.
(It probably also makes their first meeting different as well - Danny wears a ROTTMNT Casey Jones Jr. esq. mask when he goes out, but Damian would recognize lazarus green anywhere. He'd probably try harder to kill him though once he sees his face, since he knows that its not his father but an imposter.)
It also includes what I consider a hilarious conversation:
"Since I'm a clone of Bruce Wayne, does this make me your dad or your brother?"
"Don't be an idiot, laeazir."
"You didn't answer my question."
The biggest change that comes from this is, of course, the fact that Danny now no longer has a leg to stand on with the "you're a human, I am a ghost" excuse in order to prevent Damian to help him with ghost-fighting, because now Danny is also a squishy, fleshy and fragile human just like Damian. And a human who, arguably, has less combat training than Damian and no powers to make up for it.
Now, Danny in both aus are about 16-17-ish in age, so they've had time to adapt to their new vigilante-hero lifestyle, but its still not the same as Damian's training as an assassin. Damian, unlike in the original clone au, remains insistent on his want to help Danny.
And,,, eventually wears him down after weeks or months of sneaking out after him, helping in fights, interfering, arguing, etc. Danny eventually agrees, exhausted, but he makes Damian promise, promise, that he will be careful and to focus on dodging and distraction. At least until Danny can figure out a safer alternative. He wants him as far removed from the fight as he can, he's a child for ancient's sake, after all.
Which is another issue too - if we follow Damian Clone timeline, then Damian is six years old when this happens. I'll be point blank, I do not see Danny ever actually agreeing to let a literal 6 year old go with him. SO, solution, I bump Damian's age to 7 when he arrives in the Fenton Family, and make him freshly eight years old when he finally gets Danny to agree.
It still SUCKS. He is still very much an itty bitty child, but as someone who has seen the difference between a six year old and an eight year old due to working at a daycare, an eight year old is still... slightly feasible. And an 8 year old assassin even more so (even if he hasn't trained properly in nearly a year or so)
So Danny, reluctantly, agrees to let Damian come with him on patrols.
He ghost-proofs Damian's sword (as he has since learned to do with his bat and jawbreakers), makes him a grappling hook and a Fenton thermos, and reluctantly lets Damian come with in his old LoA uniform that he appeared in (with some tailoring and ghost-proofing, because he has since begun to grow out of the uniform).
(and Danny himself also finally starts looking into alternatives to improve his own "suit" - which is all but a hoodie and reinforced jeans and a hockey mask. He needs to set an example to his little brother, goddammit.)
Then, as they're planning for Damian's eventual (dreaded on Danny's part) debut, they sit in their shared room and brainstorm for what to call Damian. "Ellie already uses the name Spirit." Danny says, sitting criss-cross at his desk with the eraser nub of a pencil chewed between his teeth.
(Behind him he has an investigative corkboard set up -- his accident left him with the ability to see ghosts not capable of being seen on the visible plane. 'Stereotypical' ghosts. Between school work, his social life, and ghost fighting, some of his downtime is spent figuring out ways to help them move on. His most recent is a cold case.)
(Bc with Danny, I loove to have him have some sort of trait that ties him in with his original counterpart. Nature vs Nurture and all that. Investigative work can be part of that.)
"What about Wraith?" Damian suggests from the floor, leaning against the bed frame while he goes over one of his english books. They've been practicing his reading and writing.
Danny furrows his brows. "A ghost seen typically shortly after or before someone's death?"
Damian nods. "Yes, it's of a similar cadence to 'Batman and Robin'."
"What's with you and your thing with Batman and Robin?" Danny asks with a playful half-smile, Damian shrugs and looks at his books. Danny sticks the eraser back between his incisors. "Phantom and Wraith... that works, though."
The first night out together, Danny fusses over Damian, making sure every bit of uniform was secured and in place -- something Damian took mild offense over. His outfit was far more reinforced than the juvenile get-up that his older brother wore.
But he let him fuss anyways. It made him loved.
"Now remember, Wraith--"
Damian interrupts him: "Yes, I know, Dany. Avoid and distract. Stay situationally aware. I fear that is something I should be telling you, however. Mother would have your head if she ever saw what your training was like."
(It was, not for the first time, that Damian wondered how his,,, "mother",,, would react if she ever met Danyal. Not good, he knows.)
Danny's shoulders sag, and he sighs. "I believe that, what with that super-secret spy--"
"Assassin."
Danny sends him a half-hearted chagrined look, "Assassin," he corrects, "organization that made you. I'm sure I'd give your mother an aneurysm." When he's finally okay with whatever make-believe issues he found with his suit, Danny reaches for the nearby side table and carefully slips on a black domino mask over Damian's eyes. It was thin, flexible, and made with some kind of material that Danny reassured was environmentally safe.
("Some kind of matieral that Wayne Industries invented awhile ago, Sam bought it for me." Danny told him when he first showed it to him.)
It was also cold. But the chill was made up for, slightly, with Danny's warmer hands smoothing it out over his skin, and ridding of any ridges that could form. Damian isn't sure entirely what Danyal did to keep it stuck onto his face, but when he touches it with his fingers he feels a very faint seam at the edge, and it doesn't budge against his hands. It felt like a second skin.
"There we go." Danny smiles, pulling his hands back. He still looks nervous. "It's not the same as my hockey mask," which sat atop his head, ready to be pulled down, "but I think a domino mask will work better for you considering your background."
He was right, a hockey mask would only hurt Damian's peripheral vision. This mask was thin enough that it didn't.
"Ready to go, Wraith?"
"After you, Phantom."

Damian has much issue with Danny's suit. He can think of a million ways to make it better. It is one of the things he and Samantha Manson can get along with, and the few times they have spent time together they have brainstormed suit ideas. He knows that since Danny took him on as Wraith, he has started to look into better suit alternatives.
However. They are both aware of the same thing:
Danny is not Batman, nor Superman, nor Wonder Woman, nor Aquaman, or the Flash, or Green Arrow, or Nightwing, or any single hero on the public roster. He is also not rich like Lex Luthor or Vlad Masters or Bruce Wayne himself.
He has no money and no contacts, and thus, no way of properly improving his suit to be something even half as safe as the other supers.
And he refuses to let Samantha Manson help him find a way to fix that - even with all that money, Samantha Manson is on an allowance from her parents, and also, despite her other range of abilities, not capable of getting those materials without putting herself on a list of some sort. They are at a standstill.
Damian knows this, because he has asked.
Until one day when Danny is talking about a case he is working on and telling Damian about old adventures he had in the Ghost Zone, does he see his brother get hit with a lightbulb.
He slaps a hand against his forehead and straightens up from his swivel seat. He huffs a laugh, "Of course! Why didn't I think of it sooner?" And he turns on his heel and hurries to his bookshelf, pulling down a notebook and flipping open to an empty page.
Damian frowns, "Laeazir?"
"I know you don't like my suit, Damian," Danny says, striding over to his desk and snatching a pencil out of a cup. He begins jotting something down on the notebook. "And there's nothing I can really do about it because, well, I'm poor in comparison to my facesake, and I don't have the resources to get my hands on someone who would make me a new suit."
"Yes, we have talked about this..." Damian nods slowly, still frowning, and trying to follow his brother's line of reasoning.
Danny shoots him a megawatt, half-tilt smile, his hair tied up into a half-bun. "But! I was thinking about it from the wrong angle. I don't have the living resources to help me get a suit, but..." he trails off, staring at Damian intently.
It dinged in Damian's brain to where he was going, "But you have the undead resources instead." He says, his eyes widening slowly. Of course, of course! Danyal was ridiculously charismatic by accident, and Damian has seen plenty of times where his heart-of-gold had one or two non-hostile ghosts be incredibly grateful to him.
His brother makes a loud, 'ding-ding-ding!' sound, pointing his pencil at Damian as his smile stretches further across his face. In a few quick strides, he was sat down next to Damian and showing him his notebook. "Correct! When I first started out as Phantom a few years ago, I managed to help a ghost who called herself Taylor, and apparently she was a seamstress both in and out of life."
Damian watches as Danny writes the name at the top of the paper, and creates bullet-points down the page. "She said that in return for saving her, I should come find her in the Ghost Zone if I ever need clothes made for me. It's a one-time thing, but I was thinking that she could perhaps help make me a new suit."
Danny turns a bit pink at the ears, and rubs his neck, "I never thought much of it because I didn't think I'd ever go into the Ghost Zone, or ever need ghost clothes, so I forgot about it up until now."
A scoff forces itself out of Damian's mouth, but he is smiling. "Danyal, you are the smartest idiot I have ever met."
For the next hour, both he and Danny make a bullet point list of what both of their suits would need. Reinforcement in certain areas, gauntlets with reinforced knuckles to replace Danyal's jawbreakers. A different weapon than a bat.... a utility belt, reinforced boots. Anything they could think of.
It was Damian's idea to add a cloak to both of their suits, asymmetrical and torn at the edges for a more 'ghostly' look. They have a theme, after all. It's quite fun.
Then Danyal calls up Sam for help in drafting up design ideas. And while Danyal steps mostly to the side when it comes to the design itself, Damian and Sam fill pages with designs until coming up with one they both agreed on and like.
"What about a lightning bolt on the chest?"
"Why are we using my traumatic accident as a symbol of my identity?"
"Ghosts do it all the time, Danny. Ember sings about her death."
"I'm not dead?"
"No that won't work, Manson. Shazam already has a giant lighting bolt emblem."
"Okay, but I still want to use it somewhere."
"How about this?"
"...That could work. Okay, now onto your emblem--"
Last was the hard part: getting into the Ghost Zone without the Fenton parents noticing the disappearance of their precious Fenton Specter Speeder. They employed Jazz's help with that. She would get the Fentons out of the house long enough for him and Danny to get into the ghost zone, hopefully find the seamstress, and cash in that favor.
They went through with their plan that following weekend. Danny tossed Damian a small jumpsuit as they both climbed into the specter speeder, but did not grab his own. He had a small duffle bag on him that he threw under the seat.
"What is this?" Damian asks, nose scrunching up at the gaudy picture of Jack Fenton's face square at the center of the chest. He held it far away from it, as if it had a disease.
"Your hazmat suit." Danny replies, settling himself into the driver's seat as the door hissed shut and he began turning it on. He had some sort of gas mask on in his lap, too small to fit Danny's head, but certainly the right size to fit Damian's. "Normally you wouldn't need it since you'd stay in the speeder, but we're both getting out once we find Taylor. It's to protect you from the ectoplasm."
A scowl forces itself across Damian's face, "You don't have one." He points out, finding seat in the passenger chair next to Danny. His arms cross over his chest, and he was not pouting.
Danny looks at him amusedly, "I have enough ectoplasm in my body that I don't need one, you however, do not." He retorts, poking a finger into Damian's ribcage pointedly. "If you don't put it on now, you'll put it on when we find Taylor."
Damian's scowl deepens, feeling petulant as he sunk into his chair. Danny turns back to the console and flips a few more switches. "I will not, it looks ridiculous." He turns it around to show Danny the Jack Fenton Face.
The Specter Speeder hums to life, and there's a moment of turbulence as it lifts off the ground. While it does, Danny turns back to him blankly, stares at the emblem, and then reaches forward and yanks it off with a scriiiiich of the emblem. He crumples it up with one hand, and throws it into a small bin at his feet.
"There, fixed." He smiles. Then turns back to the controls, taking the yoke with both hands. "And I'm calling Dad Rights; you will put it on when we find Taylor or you'll stay in the speeder."
Damian sputters, sitting up incredulously. "You are not my father." He argues.
"Teeechnically, I am." Danny says, "I'm a clone of your father, and since I am fully his clone, that makes you my son by a technicality." He says cheerfully, pushing the specter speeder forward and into the swirling green portal.
Before Damian can retort, they're passing through the portal. This was his first time going into the Ghost Zone, and for a few seconds there was nothing but bright, swirling green filling his vision. His body felt like it was being twisted and pulled, his up and down reversing and returning. It was painless, but dizzying.
It only lasts for a few seconds, but it feels like a minute, and when they exit out the other side, Damian is holding his head while his vision spots and swims. Internally, he felt like those cartoon characters when their eyeballs rolled around in their head.
The dizziness fades away slowly, and as Damian regains his sight, he notices Danny's hand splayed over his sternum, gently keeping him pressed against his seat. It fell away when Danny saw that he was alright.
"Put your seatbelt on," Danny orders, nodding to his chair. Damian listens absently, before remembering their conversation before they went through the portal.
"That is not how it works." He scowls, and, annoyingly, only gets a challenged eyebrow raise from Danny. He could see the words written on his face without Danyal ever having to say it.
Because, dangit, he was technically right. Damian refuses to say this aloud. He screws his jaw shut, and crosses his arms back across his chest.
Danny chuckles under his breath, and turns his eyes back to the ghost zone. "My point still stands, either you wear the suit, or you don't leave the speeder."
"Fine."

They eventually find where the seamstress is. Through quite a lot of Danny stopping to ask questions with any friendly ghost he came across, they eventually locate an island with a strange, urban city bustling with life on it. Massive, rocky stalagmites grew from the ground, and buildings were built on top of it or around it, with strange, warping architecture.
It was oddly beautiful.
Danny parked the speeder on the side of the street with a two hour parking sign on a nearby post. As he turned off the engine, he flipped a switch on the console that darkened the windows. He unbuckles his seat, and stood up, stretching out his back with a deep groan.
"Alright, put your suit on. The windows are tinted, so nobody should be able to see into the speeder." He orders, pulling out the duffle he brought in earlier and unzipping it. He pulls out his hockey mask and the hoodie he wore out for patrol, and the notebook they'd been using to jot down ideas for their suit.
Danny even had the hindsight to write in their respective heights, and with Tucker's help, some of their measurements. While he did that, Damian sourly pulled on his hazmat suit, irritated by the need to wear it.
Unfortunately, he also had to wear the boots and gloves for 'extra precaution'. Damian nearly bites out a grumpy 'you're as paranoid as father', but holds his tongue. He wasn't going to tell Danyal that secret.
Once he was done and Danny has his hockey mask and hoodie on, Danny grabs the gas mask and helps fit it over Damian's face. It was a sleek, simple design, shaped similarly to a regular face mask, with little filters on both sides of the mouth and a clear, protective covering around the eyes and forehead. Danyal improved it from the original his parents made.
He was smarter than he gave himself credit for.
Danny checks, then double checks that it the mask is tight, then smiles. Patting Damian's shoulders before standing up fully. "Taylor's shop should be somewhere nearby." He says, grabbing the notebook and tucking it under his arm.
Damian nods, and follows him out the door and onto the busy streets.
Finding Taylor becomes remarkably quick now that they were inside her city - something that Damian silently wondered was based loosely off NYC. Danny kept a firm arm around Damian's shoulders the entire time they walked down the street, keeping the both of them on the inside sidewalk.
Barely anyone passed them a second glance, spare the few odd looks shot at Damian. Danny whispers to him the first time it happens that it's because he has no ghost core, those more attune to their signatures might've been picking up on it.
They didn't notice Danny, because he had one, albeit a weak one.
Taylor's shop has a big sign on it in logographic writing that Damian has no idea how to read. The text shifts slowly, a jambled squiggle of lines, dots, and connected curves that look like a mix of messy cursive, gibberish, and logographic alphabets. He only knows its Taylor's shop because Danny pulls them towards it, stating that it was the place.
"You can read that?" He asks, incredulous as they draw closer to the door. Danny moves his arm off his shoulder, and wraps his fingers around Damian's instead.
"Yep," He replies, then scrunches his nose up, "sort of. It's - uh--" he stumbles over a word that Damian's ears cannot comprehend, but fills his head with slight static regardless. Danny winces. "It's the written form of ghostspeak, but since I'm not a ghost, I can only read some of it. Like uh, dyslexia."
"...I see." Damian says after a moment of silence, trying to replay the word in his head. His mind can't grasp the sound.
When they enter, the door doesn't ding with the sound of a bell, but rather it makes a low scream. Nobody bats an eye to the sound, keeping to their slow search through the racks of clothes.
At the counter was a woman talking quietly to another woman, one of whom Danny recognizes, as he walks over to her.
He doesn't need to say anything, because the woman behind the counter sees him coming, and her face positively lights up with delight. "Phantom!" She cries, and gestures to come over. "I was wondering when in the high ancients you were going to come see me!"
Danny's face is obscured by his mask, but Damian knows he's smiling sheepishly with the way he tilts his head and the way he tenses his shoulders. "My bad, Miss Taylor," he says, reaching the counter and standing beside the woman she was talking to, "It kinda... slipped my mind."
Taylor waves her hand dismissively, "Well you are here now!" She replies, grinning wide. Then her eyes pop open - literally - and she puts a hand over her chest. "Oh, how rude of me!" She turns and gestures between Phantom and the lady next to him, "Miss Mabam, this is Phantom. I told you about him a couple of years ago. He saved me from humans. Phantom, this is Gigi Mabam, she funds my shop. In return I make clothes for her and her staff."
The 'Gigi' woman turns just as Danny does, and smiles wide at him. Damian narrows his eyes at her, shuffling behind Danny legs as he looked her up and down. She had silvery-white hair and purple skin, and wore a darker purple business suit, a red gem cravat at her collar, and teal cat-eye glasses.
There was a lot of purple.
"So this is the ghost-touched you were telling me about, dear!" The woman, Mabam, said. Her voice was rich and low but she spoke in a whimsical cadence. It made Damian's skin crawl, and his narrowed eyes turned into a glare. "I must thank you for saving my seamstress, it would've been quite a fizzy-wink if she had been lost to those ghosty hunters."
What were those nonsense words? Damian hated it.
"Miss Mabam here runs a five-star hotel nearby," Taylor explains, her body turned to Danny, "she also is in charge of the city's Battle Nexus."
Danny is silent for a moment, and his free hand lifts and places itself on the back of Damian's head, keeping him close. "Battle Nexus...?"
Mabam claps cheerfully, laughing low, "Oh yes! Ghosts from all around the zone come to attend and watch as their fellow haunties are ripped from limbity-limb in a blood-curdling battle!"
Danny is still as stone. "I see." He says, careful. Damian wraps his fingers around his pant leg. "Well, I hate to interrupt your conversation, but I was hoping to cash in that favor, Miss Taylor?"
"Of course! What do you need?"
Danny looks down at Damian, and he looks up at him, locking eyes with the ominous green glowing from the eyeslits of his mask. He nods, and Danny looks back up. "Do you know how to make suits? Of the protective kind?"

The seamstress it turns out, is capable of such a thing. And she ushers the both of them into one of the backrooms, sending off Mabam with a farewell and a promise to continue their conversation soon.
She flips through their design book, and immediately gets to work making their suits. In the end, with the help of her powers, she gets both done over the span of four hours. It's longer than both Danny and Damian want, but neither rush her.
Damian just hopes that Jasmine can keep the Fenton parents distracted for that long. She will have to.
The suits are better in real life than on paper, and Damian preens from the side in his own custom suit as Danny examines his own in front of the three mirrors. They were both dressed in all black, but whatever fabric Taylor used was of a blackest-black, turning Danyal - and Damian's - bodies into a black hole to look at. Both of them were fitted for agility, with reinforced padding around their shoulders and chests, as well as around the joints of their legs. Their boots were reinforced as well.
("It was hard to make your boots shock absorbent," Taylor explains, "since we all fly, but I applied similar stuff to what I did with your shoulders and chestplate.")
On the side of Danyal's legs were raised, black, lichtenberg-like figures that were contained to the seams and disappeared under his boots. There were similar designs going up his sleeves, with spiked gauntlets wrapped around his lower arm and hands. The knuckles were reinforced, just like he wanted.
Damian's favorite parts were their capes, however. Black like the rest of the outfit, but "wrapped" around their shoulders like an apocalyptic shawl with a back that went down to their knees, and at the hems the capes were torn and ripped like a wraith. Danyal's mask had gone through very little change. It was made of a stronger material, and Taylor had gone and made it more skull-like in its shape, with three large grills at the front, and the sides curving inward below the 'cheekbones' of the skull to better fit his face. It was still shock white, the only white part of Danyal's entire costume.
Damian's suit was almost identical. However, rather than having the seams of his suit resemble lichtenberg figures, the seams of his sleeves and upper torso were that of a black skeleton, with bone-y designs over his gauntlets and the fingers an ombre of dark red-to-black. And around his torso were raised lines that looked similar to a ribcage. The edge of his cloak was splatter a dark red as well. And he had a new domino mask that looked similar to the upper half of Danyal's mask, with the outer edges curved downward over his cheekbones. He was briefly allowed to take off the upper part of his gas mask to try on the mask.
The best part however, was that since the suits were made of material native to the ghost zone, they could also be taken off quickly and hidden in a small artifact. It was magic, is what it was. Danyal chose earrings, and Damian chose a ring.
When they got back to the Fenton house, Jazz demands a box of chocolate for her hard work. Damian thinks that's only fair as Danny takes them both out to get candy for Jazz.

But other than vigilante stuff, not else much changes. Danny gets to pull a "Dad By Technicality Rule" card over Damian when he's being a brat. Danny doesn't have his run in with Rift (a ghost who portals him into Gotham) until after he meets Damian/lets Damian join him on patrol and when they get new suits.
My reason? Because I want it to happen after that point in time lol. It also makes the eventual "heyyyyy you have a clone" @ bruce much funnier to me because not only does he have a clone of HIMSELF but also THAT clone has a clone of Damian living with him.
Also when Danny destabilizes for the first time Damian is terrified for his safety. The fentons are surprisingly good at cloning, Danny hasn't had any issues up until this point in time, and that's only because he got hit with a new gun from Skulker that messed up the ectoplasm he had in his dna, which in term fucked with his own DNA.
Danny's destabilization, imo, is not "I cast you with Melt" he's not Ellie, he's not made of 50% ectoplasm. His parents surprisingly knew what they were doing, and he was human. So his destabilization should be unique to himself and different. Thus his destabilization is "I cast you with Compromised Immune System" his body slowly weakens over time as his cells destabilize. He becomes unnaturally frail and sick. Damian calls Ellie for help when Danny doesn't get up after being hit in a fight that he normally, and Ellie helps figure out that he's destabilizing. This is whats gonna happen in OG clone au too, but Ellie is going to be there rather than Damian.
It makes going to Wayne Manor after that slightly more interesting,,,

Alfred: trans (ftm), named himself after his father
Bruce: demiboy (amab), uses Batman to indulge in the demi part of him if that makes sense
Dick: trans (mtf), named herself Fanny because she had to keep up the joke
Jason: genderfluid, either named herself Jane or CJ (Catherine Junior) for fem days
Tim: ??? (ftm. but the m is questionable. might be ftnb. no one knows.) His birthname is Timberly but they shortens it to Tim. he also forgets he's trans and so they accidentally stealth and then he goes to have a shower and gets jumpscared.
Damian: nonbinary (amab), they're the type of person to never come out and then gets annoyed when no one uses the right pronouns because they forget that not everyone can read eachothers minds
Cass: idk if there's a word for it but she uses she/it pronouns. i think growing up being treated like a weapon would effect the way she sees herself, but when she has a choice, she decides she likes it
Steph: agender (afab) peak genderlessness. uses she/her out of habit, but if she sat down and thought about it a bit more, she'd probably use she/it
Babs: trans (mtf) used a babybook to chose her name and didn't realise she'd chosen the name of her dads ex-wife until he blinked when she came out.
Duke: nonbinary (amab) uses he/she pronouns. I think he could technically be referred as dual gender or something but she prefers the label nonbinary

as for damitim! i think the collective dynamic of the bats would be wildly different if damian came first... he'd be bruce levels of stoic but with a certain air of responsibility about him, an eldest child type of no-nonsense attitude, while if tim came second he'd maintain his like. general insanity and overcompensation and stalker habits etc etc. he and damian absolutely hate each other's guts at first, but out on the field they'd probably work together extremely well, which makes both of them mad LMAO
i imagine the shift happens when damian gets caught in an explosion at some point and wakes up in the cave to tim swearing and scowling at him like "i dug through the rubble for THREE HOURS, if it weren't for batgirl i would've killed you when i finally found you," except the whole time he's also holding an ice pack to damian's temple and his hands are all bandaged up. and damian just stares at them and is kind of like, "huh". later stephanie says "did tim tell you he winched a solid block of concrete off of you? he was crying because he thought he was too late" and yk, damian has an oh moment. after that he starts being more tolerant of tim's general nagging. a year later bruce picks up 13 year old jason from off the streets and jason takes to tim like a duck to water and damian starts lowkey beefing with him about it because he's embarrassing like that.
that's about as far as my brainrot has gotten... no idea who tim is interested in but he's like, probably 70% aware of the ridiculous love triangle he's been caught in.
(btw in this au damian is 3 yrs older than tim who's 5 yrs older than jason. so by the 2nd picture of the reverse robins jaytim art, dami is 27, tim is 24, and jay is 19. dami is batman at this point! bruce is retired and probably staying in metropolis every other week if you catch my drift)

Jason nearly doubled over when it hit him. He'd been waiting for them to return with Danny, he'd been nervously excited mere moments ago. Now, old rage boiled from somewhere deep inside him. He'd thought he'd learned to control it! Now, he realized What he'd been dealing with from day to day was simply his own anger. This was the Pit's rage; this broiling thing that made the air seem too hot, and the faint smell of the Batcave into something rank. How had he forgotten it?
He grit his teeth and gripped the chair tighter.
"Jason?" Bruce's voice grated his senses, how dare he feign concern now? He is concerned. There was blood in his mouth, probably his own, but it made him want to bite someone else. But no, because teeth weren't the best way to make something bleed and—
"Well, this is not ideal," Someone else seethed. And it was them, Jason knew, who was causing this. And if he destroyed them it would all be over. Jason let himself look up.
Lazarus green eyes met Lazarus green eyes.
Jason lunged.

"Well, this is not ideal." Danny said through gritted teeth. He was fighting back physical waves of territorialism. Not how he'd hoped his first time in the Bat cave would go! The revenant gripping the table was probably family, and duking it out, in this situation, was probably not okay.
So, Danny had come into this fully intending to claim the batcave as 'his'(not taking it from Gotham, of course, but his claim would give it protection from any spirits who happened to take interest.). If he had known beforehand, he would've announced his presence and gotten permission the usual unobtrusive ghost-speak way, and no one would be the wiser. Now, he was attempting to make himself not want to fight this guy for territory he didn't need to claim.
Danny tasted the tangy sweetness of suprise from his Bio-family as skunk hair lunged. Danny had more than enough time to block the blow, no blows, to his face. He did not have enough time to decide what to do about this before he noticed Skunky pulling a knife.
He hit back hard.(Probably harder than a human could take, but he doubted the guy would notice like this.) As he brought his arm back from the strike he hit Skunky's wrist, sending the knife to the floor. Danny kicked it it out of reach, but took a hit to the ribs as payment.
It hadn't been ten seconds, Danny wasn’t sure exactly how many, the others were quick to try and separate them. The Bat went for Skunky, who went just as feral on him in attempts to get to Danny.
This was bad. Danny reflected, very bad. He had no idea how aware Skunky was right now, and after this sort of intrusion? The guy probably wouldn't feel secure for a few weeks after Danny had left. Especially if the fight went unfinished. Damian was pulling him back, he was also saying something, but Danny didn't catch it. Instead he did the only thing he could do. He flared his aura.

The breath in had been sharp. It had not contained nearly enough air to properly hold, as a turbulent rage froze over into pure unadulterated terror.
The thing behind Bruce might be wearing human skin, but it was not human. Jason didn't know what part of him was sensing it, but the thing's power was suddenly everywhere, blinding and suffocating all at once.
It retreated, as if that changed the fact that it could crush him without a thought. Jason had attacked it. It was in the cave. He needed to warn— but what could they do against it? It could destroy them just as easily. And it was already here.
The frantic thoughts were cut off when the pit stirred again. Not like before, this was unlike anything the pit had done before. The entity had put a drop into perfectly still waters, sending ripples through its entirety. It would be fine, only he was on those waters, and what was the smallest drop to it was a tsunami to him. He was glad Bruce was still holding onto him.

The laughing was less alarming than one suddenly trying to kill the other, but it was still concerning. Especially since Jason's eyes had yet to stop glowing.
He looked over to Danny, who's glowing had dimmed, but was now sitting on the cave floor with an equally bewildered Damian hovering nearby.
It was a few moments before Danny managed enough air to wheeze, "We good, bro?
And for Jason to respond, "I think? What was that?"
"Teritorial ghost bullshit!"
Jason scoffed, "Zombie bullshit!"
" I'm sorry , do you eat brains?"
"Do you walk through walls and fly?"
"it's a personal choice,"
That set them off again, Bruce had to hold Jason up again... it had been a while, since he had been this close to him for so long...
When the laughter died down again, Danny informed them, "Technically, I'm a doorway spirit. You're giving off revenant vibes."
Jason nodded like he didn't know what to do with that. He awkwardly pulled away from Bruce.
Before anyone could try to pick up the pieces of this interaction, Alfred swept in with a tray of cookies.

Hi, actually, I've asked a few Dicktim au ideas at you as anon, but I'm trying to get out of my comfort zone a little, so I didn't hide myself this time... Anyway, here's a batcest au that goes a little too far
"Probably everyone knows about the most popular video game of recent times. The game, which was suddenly released and the producer of which was unclear, had appeared with the promise of a reward to the person who managed to complete all its parts. However, despite the attempts of almost everyone in the world, no one has succeeded so far. 'Batfamily' is a yandere otome game that hosts four possible partners. And there's only about a week left for the award to be given, so all the game lovers spread it around, who knows, maybe someone we never expected will be the lucky winner of completing."
Tim grunted as he connected the virtual reality glasses in his hand to the TV. He couldn't stand Steph's endless insistence again and became forced to do something he didn't want to.
Which he wasn't going to lie, the game actually had very interesting features. It had a high-level technology that allowed the formation of personalized characters by uploading all the characteristics of the player to the database, and according to what he had heard, the game's male leads also had remarkable features.
It's just that Tim wasn't good with romantic or dating simulation-style situations. He was happy with the war games himself, thanks Steph, but it wouldn't hurt to try, would it?
The character formed depending on his own personality was a little strange. As time went on, he was doing photo shoots by walking on rooftops after the main characters, all of whom were vigilantes. It all started just like watching a movie, without even having a choice until he reached the age of about 12. After learning about the ground knowledge of the Tim's own character, he began the personal stories of the male leads.
He was officially turned into a caged bird with Bruce. He had taken away his freedom along with a tool that built a room inside the bat cave that could not be found by anyone and made Tim stay small forever. He had planted seeds of doubt in his mind for everyone he knew, had only tried to make him trust Bruce and only him.
Even when he tries to escape, he points out the presence of bad examples around him and said 'Let daddy protect you my little boy, everything is going to be alright. I will not going to let someone take you away. No, you are going to be with me forever...'
Together with Dick, there was an initial situation similar to the scenario of Bruce not letting Tim go again, but as time progressed, it turned out to be much different.
Dick had transformed Tim into a baby in every sense. He fed him with drugs that would make him lose control of his body, brought back his hairstyle from the first moment they met at the circus, dressed him in dresses with a diaper attached underneath
He also started acting like a kind of mother, and when Tim tried to run away, he slapped his butt and even his baby pussy with a very sad expression on his face saying 'How mommy is so sad to hurt his baby but Timmy is starting to become a bad boy so he has to do it... Is it starting to hurt baby, I am so sorry, why don't you come to mommy's lap and take mommy's cock in your baby pussy. It will make pain go away baby and if it not helps mommy will kiss your precious parts, don't worry...'
With Damian, he become a pet. He has to take obedience training because his owner is so kind to him even when he is nothing more than a bitch in heat. Make Tim swallow everything he gives to him, breed him and make him pregnant with puppies
'Are you going to be a good mama for your babies or are you going to try pumping on my legs like a desperate slut? Oh, I see now. Then I think we need a few more lessons for your traning...'
And with Jason, everything was a little more violent. He cut off all the limbs that could help Tim move, smiling every second, and then began to walk around holding his bandaged body by the waist. He made him sit on his lap and eat, and at some times stroked his hair, and at other times, because he knew he couldn't move, he filled him with sperm and left the room to do his own things
'You know little bird, if you can't move you can't try to do drugs. If you can't move you won't leave me all alone by myself. And if you can't move then I am going to be the only one who can kill you...'
He was sure that he didn't want to continue the game after all four of these episodes, but there was only the general part where everyone was together, and no one had ever made so much progress before. And it wasn't like Tim didn't start wondering how much more dependent they could be for no reason. So he waited for the introduction music of the last episode to play and continued the game
The result was a complete disappointment...
Everything was actually developing quite nicely. There was even a scenario that he could call normal, except for threats of being killed and having his throat slit and left for dead covered in blood. But what really made Tim happy was the fact that everyone could start getting along with each other. This has never happened in any personal story, and Tim even began to believe that the concept of 'Batfamily' in the title of the game was real
But then his character died suddenly. He died on a mission that he went with his team, not even by the main characters in the game
What was the point of everything then? That's why Tim didn't like anything other than war games, okay... So stupid, not even a real ending... As he grunted, he noticed how sleepy he was starting to get... Oh, maybe he should have gone to bed, because there's school tomorrow, right?
And then he woke up on a different bed(different how, why is everything is so not right) to a smiling Dick on his bedside. Ah, he probably slept in the manor instead of his own nest then. But he is still sleepy so maybe he should lie down a little bit more, right?
He didn't see the promising dark glint in the normally happy eyes...
And cut... It would probably be nice for me to explain a little bit in order to fully reflect what's in my head. Tim really died on a mission with his team without any way of salvation. Just before his death, everyone in the family had really started to get along with each other, but Tim's funeral left everyone devastated.
Everything I've mentioned as a personal story is fantasies that the characters start to create in their own dreams in order to prevent Tim from leaving. The main general part is what is really done. The game contained magic, which was also the reason why no one who played it except in a different world that was most similar to their own Tim was successful. As soon as Tim finished all the episodes, he was teleported to the other world along with the memories of his dead version. They'll probably start implementing their dreams in the personal story on him now, but that's all I have. It's been a little long, but I hope I didn't bore you

and the trope of 'otome isekai' is one i've seen growing lately and thinking about along with tim is sooooo interesting 👀👀👀👀👀 it's definitely much rarer to see- combined with my favorite kind of genre in fic 'alternate universes clashing or interacting with each other'!!!!!!!
the concept of losing tim and how it drove the bats a little bit insane is so good because it results in them being insane enough to come up with this plan to drop a 'game' into various universes to find their perfect tim and take them home and make him their little wife/the mother of their children. the alternate universe tim clearly doesn't have any 'bats' in his universe which of course makes him an ideal target because the last thing the bats would want is to tick off another bat family. but the almost horror movie scenario with tim slowly getting more and more sucked into the game because of an innocent determination to beat it and win and then getting tangled up in this plot is so good!!! especially at the end where there's a clear cut between him in his normal world and him in the new one where he dismisses the fact that he's in the manor rather than his nest.
the only way tim would suspect anything amiss would be working backwards from people's reaction to him to figuring out he had died....but then if he were dead...how was he still alive....
a dark batfam going to any lengths necessary to their tim back and manipulating things behind the scenes to the point that tim doesn't even realize he's being lured until they already have him is so perfect!!!

Babs, Bruce and Danny in my dpxdc merfolk au!!!

Babs has her info Here. But this is her design! I’m not actually entirely sure if any of these designs are final, i might tweak them, but here she is! I gave her necklaces.
Bruce is based on a leatherback sea turtle! The spots aren’t actually super accurate to a leatherback’s underside, but if you look at it a little harder... you may find a fun little easter egg. It’s subtle... or at least i tried to make it that way. (If people don’t get it i’ll explain in a rb lol) Did you know that leatherback sea turtles can be up to 880 pounds? Idk what that is in metric but that’s roughly 7 and a half Bahfevs. They’re also much more triangular/less round than other turtles, so I reflected that in his design. And ofc, Bruce and Damian are both sea turtles bc they’re related. But they’re different sea turtle species so it doesn’t make much sense. Who gives a flip. What’s Talia, you ask? To that I say: 🤷♀️
(Side note: apparently, I’ve conditioned myself so I can’t draw nuetral expressions. It’s gotta have some emotion or else it looks wrong, and it feels natural to always have something going on there. So... drawing Stoic McStoicface here was a pain in the penis. He kinda has an expression anyway lol)
Danny is based on a ghost knife fish! I’ll be honest, i didn’t even know these existed until I looked up “ghost fish” in the hopes of finding something thematic. But then... omg! They’re black with little white accents? Like Danny’s design? And they have cool, funky bodies? AND they produce electricity!?? That’s so FKING COOL! I’ll have to do more research, but so far i’m pretty sure they don’t produce enough electricity to hurt someone. They are related to electric eels though! I first learned that electric eels were knife fish and not true eels when I was researching the moray eel for Duke. Funny how that connects!

Okay so basically: Danny went diving to gather pearls because he wanted to make his parents happy/proud. While he was diving, His foot got caught in a rock and he couldn’t get it out. He panicked and he begged— to who? God, maybe? The universe, or the ocean? Maybe just begging fate or any higher power that could be out there, he doesn’t know. His only prayer was “Don’t let me drown!”. Unbeknownst to him, one of the pearls he’d grabbed was a magic, wish granting pearl. They’re rare enough that humans don’t even have legends of them... but the merfolk do ;).
The pearl took his very non-specific wish and decided to give him a tail and gills. He swam back up in a panic, and saw his new tail. Of course, this is a very horrifying thing to happen. But in less than a minute... it was already starting to dry off. As it dried, it turned back into skin.
Now, Danny has to be extremely careful not to get his legs or hair wet when he’s near people, because he’ll turn back into a merboy.
i... probably should have given him a shirt? He’d be wearing it, right? But i also did need to see what I was doing with that fin thing lol. I mean, a shirt would get annoying with that fin- he’d probably take it off. Tbh he’d probably have it off when swimming in general? Idk.
So: funny thing that happened when I was drawing Danny:
A first grader came up to me while I had it open on my desk, and she was like:
“Oh my god, that’s so good! Like, how did you even draw that?”
so I was like: “Oh thank you! ❤️”
And I think she asked again “How did you even draw that?”
so I was a little confused on how to answer, so I said:
“Well, I used my pencil...” and held up my pencil—
and then she got distracted by a spinny chair.

so… daminette
i honestly have no idea where this crossover came from but here we are
so, i think i’ll start with the stuff i actually like, kind of anyway
it’s not hard to imagine them in the same universe with them both being superheroes and all, not the most out there crossover that makes no sense.
also it definitely falls under the grumpy x sunshine which i do like, there’s a lot of soulmate au’s for this ship and if yk me yk those are my weakness (if done right).
this pairing has the least amount of explicit content in it than almost any other i’ve seen (thank goodness for younger me) so if i wanna read a long fic and i’m not in the mood for any of that i just look for these specific fics
sometimes it’s fun to see marinettes class get put in their place other times it’s weird and out of place, really depends on the author and how long the story is and where they wanted it to go.
now onto the things i don’t really enjoy
i swear everyone who writes a maribat fic is a miraculous fan first and the only dc content they’ve consumed is other maribat fanfic cause there’s no way
most of the time damian’s personality is that of his 10 year old self like ik that man’s personality changed over the last 8 years, usually in daminette fics they’re around 18
also, why are all of the family members at WE like sure maybe she’ll see tim or bruce but why is dick there? i’ve even seen jason? like no, i’m sorry that would not happen.
honestly most of my problems have to do with it not being realistic for batman but also, marinette would not be in the same class as any of her friends in high school, she probably won’t even go to the same school as them
i’m just gonna say damian would not fall in love that fast, it doesn’t matter who it is it ain’t happening, also just an overall focus on mari and barely any on damian

Just hear me out: Soulmate AU. But soulmates don't neccesarily mean romantic, okay? Some of them are, obviously, but that's not the point. Soulmate goes beyond that.
Dick and Donna are probably soulmates. Donna still gets married to someone else and Dick still ends up dating other people but they're Soulmates and that means more than any husband ever could.
Damian and Jon are probably Soulmates too. I don't make the rules.
I'm building up to something but for worldbuilding's sake I'm saying it's the "The first words your soulmate ever says to you are written on your palm" type soulmates.
So. Tim and Bruce Soulmates, right?
And I imagine Bruce knows. Forgoing the exact words of canon a little here but I wanna say Bruce's words are something like "Don't worry, I'll get you out of there." and meanwhile Tim's are the ultra generic "Who are you?"
So that day when Tim saves Bruce (and Dick) — it hits Bruce like a slap to the face that his Soulmate, whom he's never looked for, never dared to look for, is this child. Meanwhile, Tim has no idea that he's fatally connected to this man and as far as he knows this is all playing out very normally.
Bruce takes Tim in and immediately tells Alfred who, in his classic manner, expresses both concern for the situation as well as clinging super tightly to Tim Drake because this is Bruce's Soulmate goddammit. Would Tim maybe be better off apart from Bruce, his Soulmate, who also happens to be Batman, who lives a very dangerous life? Alfred cares about Bruce first so he does not particularly care (he will give Tim Drake the best life by Bruce Wayne's side instead).
I imagine in this world not everyone has a Soulmate, and even if you do you're not immediately born with your words. And Jack and Janet Drake likely weren't soulmates, so Tim's either passively accepting that you don't neccesarily need to find your soulmate to be happy in life or highly romanticises the magical fantasy of his fated soulmate or both at the same time. And Bruce probably told him that soulmates are a distraction and not to look for his in an attempt to further bury the secret that it's actually him. I can imagine Tim getting together with Steph and spouting all this confident stuff about personal choice and the unique adventures they can have even without being soulmates and the two of them being so excited together in that relationship and their unmatching soulmate words.
(Steph's soulmate is Cass and I think about her having this whole scene where she just. Holds Steph's hand. Looks down at her words and back up again. Silently asking. The first words that Cass ever says to Steph, saved for this moment, are "I love you.")
Aaaanyway I think about this AU and reread canon material imagining this is the case (Tim and Bruce being Soulmates, Tim not knowing but Bruce knowing) and it just vividly makes sense because Tim is the person who understands and believes in him again and again to an unusual degree. And one day Tim will find out that they're Soulmates and worse: that Bruce knew all along. And, um, most likely this will be like the 99th time he tries to quit?

Pretty out of nowhere but,, What do you think about dickdami as a ship?

What made you ship it?
I wouldn't be able to say exactly what it was. I think I've been lowkey shipping them since forever, then at some point I started warming up to Omegaverse AUs (in the sense that I've always loved ABO but my head had to sort of "make it work" in a DC superheroes situation), and at that point I was like YES, OMG Y E S. Especially because of Damian's clear-as-day crush on Dick.
What are your favorite things about the ship?
Dami is a possessive little shit, and Grayson is his. Dick in skintight suits was surely his sexual awakening and his first crush, and I can easily see how the little demon would fixate on the idea that as soon as he's old enough, he and Dick are supposed to be together. In an ABO situation it works even better, especially when Dick is an Omega and Damian and Alpha because it validates the aforementioned mental process - "after I present me and Grayson will be together as mates". Dick meanwhile is there smiling like "he's a kid, he'll grow out of it sooner or later". No he won't :)
(and also, I don't think Dick would ever be able to tell Damian no in whatever circumstance which makes it even juicier, intermingling with Dick's sense of shame and inability to resist when someone pressures him into something, which is something that Bruce took advantage of for Dick's entire life)
If we're talking about a Reverse!Robins situation it also works amazingly.
(I know, I know. I a lot of people hate the whole reverse!robin thing. "Damian shouldn't even be called Robin because that's a Dick Grayson thing!", "Stephanie makes no sense as Red Hood because she wouldn't care about Batman not avenging her!" LISTEN!!! I know. You are correct. However it is FUN to imagine the batkids with their ages reversed and their roles blurred, especially for shippy reasons, therefore I do not give a fuck ♥ Love you)
Like imagine adult, bitter, troubled Damian finding the light of his life in this kid who lost his parents in such a gruesome way, having to teach him and guide him, be his mentor and his moral compass, in turn learning how to work his own skewed sense of justice. Imagine adult, touch-starved Damian having his heart beating so fast when this kid hugs him and falls asleep in his arms, needing comfort and giving so much warmth at the same time. Imagine stone-hearted, disillusioned Damian experiencing so much wonder at seeing this kid grow up and treat him like the most wonderful, precious human being that ever existed, even if Damian perceives himself as cold, unforgiving and unlovable. And when this special, one-in-a-million kid starts blushing every time they take their suits off, and getting clingy and jealous or anyone who buzzes around Dami, and obviously feeling for Damian something which is not just brotherly love, well. At that point what is even Damian supposed to do - Dick is his everything, and he wants to keep being Dick's everything in return.
Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?
Probably what I just wrote, meaning that I normally prefer the ship when it's a Reverse!Robins situation (but I like it in any form anyway)

There are 40 that I’ve solo-authored, and 9 that I did varying degrees of work on when a group of dc writers doing a round robin fic collaboration thing
What’s your total A03 word count?
It’s a bit thrown off by the aforementioned colabs, but I don’t want to go through and do the math, so the overall total is 567,072
What fandoms do you write for?
Mostly DC! The comics variant, that is. And within that, mostly Batman-adjacent characters. Though I also have one fic each for the avengers, the silmarillion, and haikuu

Yes, but very slowly!
I respond because is someone took the time to engage with my work and actually write one, then it feels like it’s only right for me to put in an equal amount of effort to respond.

That would probably be the DickBabs with unrequited DickTim wedding Tumblr fic (here, if you like pain)
What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
It’s hard to say. Since I tend to be averse to bad endings, most of my fics have happy endings of one sort or another
Do you get hate on your fic?
Sometimes. Usually from people who can’t grasp that limited third person POV means that the narrating character doesn’t have perfect information at all times, or people who are upset that characters don’t make 100% rational decisions 100% of the time.
Do you write smut?
Yep! <3
Do you write crossovers?
Depends on how you define them. I tend to do a lot of AUs which blend elements from other settings with DC, but I don’t really enjoy writing characters from different, unrelated media meeting.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not to my knowledge!
Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes! My Running (and when to stop) DickTim series was translated into 中文-普通话 國語 by SummerVapour and tiktiktiktiktam, which is linked on the fic itself
Have you ever co-written a fic?
Yes; I helped write a few fics in the round robin collaboration series A Journey of Personal Discovery Through Social Isolation. Amusingly, we named it that a year before the pandemic started.
What‘s your all-time favourite ship?
DickTim, to absolutely no one’s surprise :D
What’s the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Probably To Break Every Bended Knee; or, Apocrypha. I really love the setting, but the fic is supposed to be JayTimDick and all the endings I plotted for it ended up being DickTim with Jason kind of doing his own thing. That doesn’t seem like a particularly satisfying conclusion to anyone interested in the story, so I decided to put my time elsewhere.
What’s your writing strengths?
Comments that have gone into specifics have said that my fics have good characterization, visualization, and engrossing plots.
What’s your writing weaknesses?
I’m very bad at brevity, so writing short, snappy fics that also make sense doesn’t usually work out for me.
Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I pretty much only speak English, so I don’t tend to do it. If I ever had a fic that absolutely needed it, then I’d ask for writing support from someone who actually does speak the language in question.
First fandom you wrote for?
Depends on how you define wrote. If you mean wrote and published, then it’s DC. If you mean wrote when I was a kid and then let disappear into the files of a long-defunct computer, then probably Stargate SG-1.
Favourite fic you’ve ever written?
Of the stuff I have published, probably Recursion. Though if I’m allowed to include WIPs, then I’ve been working on a DickTim slowburn on and off for a while now. It’s meant to cover things from when they meet to post-Red Robin, with a fair amount of mini canon divergences throughout. Currently it’s somewhere upwards of 50k, but I haven’t had a chance to work on it in a while.

Ok it’s the same anon as before but my mind is now drug addled so I apologize if stuff doesn’t make sense but god DAMN do I have questions (and obviously no pressure if you don’t wanna answer them no offense will be taken only love in this household tonight <3) but YEA does Jason still come back to life or is he permanently dead? If he does come back what’s his deal? I’m assuming with Damian being well adjusted (ish) that that means BRUCE must’ve done some personal growth at some point so if Jason does come back is he still angry at Bruce or is their relationship ok and like YEAH. I’m also very curious about the whole joker jr to regular(ish) person route Tim takes and stuff like that, and also how their age reversals affect other characters. Is Bart even in this au bc depending on which canon you look at I feel like Tim being there is a part of him being sent back (plz keep in mind I am v high and probably v wrong) ugh I just wanna know it all. You are SO good at AUs and art and I wanna know all the little brain worms that make up this au
Jason will still come back but I am leaning toward the idea of them finding him when hes still catatonic instead of waiting for the league to get ahold of him. There's a lot more bats prowling around gotham this time around- someone is sure to see him.
The jj to normal-but-maladjusted route is taken with lots of therapy and patience. He will never be..."right" again, but you know, with lots of love and support he can get close. I figure he takes a backseat role with Duke and works the comms sometimes. There's probably a period of time where he's in an institution- probably arkham- but with the power of ☆money☆ he probably doesn't stay there long. And he isn't like a pit mad Jason who fully believes he's doing the right thing; when he's Tim he's horrified by his actions as jj. Which I think would make reconciliation with Bruce over killing people a lot easier. (Not that I think canon Tim actually has THAT much issue with killing people given his track record in red robin) but he would still be horrified by his own actions.
Bart is here because if Bart isn't here I may cry. Young Justice is Jason's group so he isn't a part of that- but he's still around. I don't know enough about the outlaws to suggest If core 4 outlaws is a good thing or not but that's where my mind is headed.

I would love details on the Reverse Robin AU idea, I always adore those. (Though I often feel they miss an opportunity by not having Duke be first. Then again I sort of have a "Either its the first four Robins being reversed, or its all of them and thus Duke is first" system. A lot depends on what swerves the story best.) Sorry for the off topic ramble and no pressure to share, but yeah it'd be cool.
One thing I am notably curious about is how you'd handle the pre death relationship between Bruce & Stephanie. Cos so much of their canon one is filtered through his grief over Jason and projection onto her which led to his awful treatment of her, which led to her desperation to please him. Without that death things would probably be a lot more chill.
Still, I could see a similar death happening if Bruce got to up his own ass with trying to play master mind and it all blowing up in his face (Which I insist would have happened with his crime control plan regardless of Stephanie.)
No apology necessary! I love off topic rambles and am prone to doing them myself (see how long this explanation ended up for reference lol).
Here's a link to a sort of fan-fic/sort of explanation I wrote earlier (Though I think you already found it). I would love to flesh it out into a full fic, but I'm not sure that will ever actually happen.
As for Steph and Bruce specifically though, I think there's still tension between them, but it comes from a different place. Spoiler is a rouge agent, a teenager with no training, no oversight, and a personal score to settle, and Bruce isn't really prepared to handle that. Damian came to him pre-trained and if Tim comes second (which I think he should since he's both before and after Steph in canon) he was doing it because he believed it was the right thing to do. Without Jason Bruce has never had to deal with anyone who's completely untrained before, and without Dick he's never had to deal with a personal grudge as motivation (except his own, and he's really not prepared to get into that), so the combination of them in Steph seems far to dangerous to have in the field. Besides, it sets a bad precedent, he can't just let any teenager start running around fighting crime or he'll have a We Are Robin situation on his hands, and he already has a Robin. I don't think it's really personal for him, it just makes logical sense for everyone if she would stop, but for some reason she won't, even after Cluemaster is dead. (She also reminds him a little to much of himself at that age, but he's not going to think about that).
On Steph's end I think things are a little more complicated. I think the indifference would both drive her insane and give her this sort of false hope. No matter what she does it never seems to be enough, but the parts of her Bruce seems to dislike are all related to Spoiler, not Stephanie, which means she can change them! But there are parts of Steph that are baked into Spoiler, which carry over to Robin in turn that she can't get rid of no matter how hard she tries. Plus there are just enough similarities between the way Batman talks to her and the way Arthur did that sometimes it activates her fight instinct when logically she knows she should just listen to him. And unfortunately Bruce doesn't respond well to being snapped at, but he also never seems to hold it against her for more than a day. So Steph just keeps running in this circle and never knows where she stands with Bruce, and in some ways it's better and in some ways it's worse, because at least with her dad she knew where she stood and could stop trying.
I don't like that answer, trust me I wish I could say things between them would be better, but personally I don't think so. Bruce might be nicer about the way he says it, but I think he'd still want Steph to stop and Steph would still think if she tries hard enough he'll realize he was wrong.
Sorry, that got away from me, but anyway, I think the concept of including Duke is interesting! I just don't really know enough about him to know how it would play out or have thoughts on how We Are Robin could happen without Robin.

anyways, i will now elaborate a little more my jason lives au with some more of my thoughts:
as far as i'm inclined, i think that young justice forms by bart+kon hanging out (because that friendship is so important to me too), and like canon bart brings cissie, and cassie comes for kon.
maybe jason helps out kon and bart with world without adults, but since jason is still at a point where he's not really looking for outside friends since he's busy with batman, it doesn't really go any further than that. since jason is not so much the type to push them to form a group, they leave as casual acquaintances.
tim doesn't join yj right away, ofc, but that's okay because really young justice is about hanging with your friends
and then kon, bart, and lagoon boy infiltrate NML because they're, well, them and that's when they meet tim and he gets roped into the club
i think cassie would become de facto leader of the group much sooner here
now as far as jason: although i think that he would harbor some resentment towards the situation, especially at first, things would eventually ease up.
after all, once tim is officially part of the team and batman knows about him, he's no longer the isolater he kind of ends up being at first, he's back to being the great connector again
i'm sure he busts into jason's room in the middle of the night all "jason peter todd"
i'm actually inclined to give steph/spoiler as a friend to jason here, since she would be more likely to connect with batman and robin in pursuit of her father. this unfortunately possibly means she doesn't end up close with cass tho
and i've already commented this on all of y'alls posts and i'm going to reiterate it here: i really, really think we should consider the ray, who is 18-19 and joins young justice very late in the game and enjoys himself but ultimately leaves. he's an exasperated older brother-friend, and maybe he runs into jason and they bond over young justice being young justice
and really, all i know about the ray is young justice so i had to read his summary on the wiki and his story is, um, interesting. but also interesting. i liked the tidbit where his dad apparently employed agents and people close to his son in a giant scheme that would force his son to face his responsibility and use his powers and become a hero and that he grew up isolated with only one friend
....i'm just saying, is all
jason probably does get to join in on the zandia mission
but jason would join the teen titans with kon and bart and cassie instead of tim, and hmmm this probably isn't fantastic
anyways, obviously if steph is "dead" and the ray is busy with the freedom fighters, which jason is not a part of, he still ends up fairly isolated when bruce dies. and since, even though things are better with dick and tim at this point, bruce is still jason's sense of security, so when dick becomes batman and makes damian his robin jason no longer knows where he fits in gotham and feels that the only thing that will fix things is bringing bruce back
....does tim gently tell him he should accept bruce is gone and jason should consider therapy? (okay, i'll stop now)

i dont really know who or how many people check my blog for updates on where im at with my writing and stuff but in honor of starting to come out of the fog im just going to like. level, really quick. writing is a personal affair intricately tied to what were coping with at the time so as i give updates for what i have planned im also going to talk about shit im going through so heres your warning now
you might have seen it in the a/n for brothers return for the whole ten seconds it was there before i backspaced it out of existence but a family member of mine died in october and writing- living, really- has been almost impossible since. its only just now starting to get easier.
we finally spread the ashes a couple weeks ago or so now and it feels. lighter, now. easier to breathe. i have his art hanging in my bedroom and im going to see my cousins again in a week and my foot is broken so i have all new things to focus on, and its. yknow. we move forward.
ive written a couple of things between now and october but looking at them they feel... short, and hollow, and i can tell i wasnt feeling what i was writing even though i convinced myself at the time that it was good enough. theres a very good chance ill try and rewrite brothers return and the second robin (i HATE those titles btw), because i feel like theyre fics that need to happen but its also. SO hard to write about resurrection when youre grieving?? lol??? like. someone in my life died and im never getting him back and now i have to put myself in dicks shoes where he DOES get jason back and its just. thats not easy, man. its suddenly become an almost impossible topic. but im hoping, now, that maybe i can finally reconnect with it and rewrite it in a way im actually satisfied with
snow day i will straight up be dubbing noncanon from now on. i doomed myself the second i wrote son of dent and made it so harvey and bruce have to not be dating the entire fucking time jasons a kid and ive managed to keep to that pretty well so far adn find wiggle room here and there but snow day was really. sldkjfnslkdnfsdf its a plot hole. its a huge plot hole. i wrote it because i wanted to write something that felt good not something that made sense and i SUCCEEDED but man does it not make sense. so im just gonna be striking it from the canon and keeping it up regardless.
moving into future fics, though. i dunno, man. i finally plotted out that detective au ive wanted to write for ages but its gonna be long and im scared to start it.
i did read all of damians preboot comics (or at least, the ones on the list i was given) (id read some before and ive read some n52 ones already so this was just filling in the last of the gaps (mostly his origin story)) and filled in the last of the preboot timeline (post jasons resurrection, idc about anything before that) so i feel prepared to write the next installment of the jdau, whatever that is, but i havent decided exactly what that is. itll probably be al ghul centric, tho. thats all i know tho! thats all i know
but i guess. keep your expectations low. im figuring things out. might reopen prompt requests soon tho, and im trying my absolute best

Let’s talk about canon Batfam things. Basically I just wanna jot down a list of batfam relationship things in canon that might make your fanworks more spicy.
As well they’re great for generating AUs because if you know how things are then you can ask, but what if?
Okay let’s get started with some relationships-
It’s pretty common knowledge that Damian and Tim don’t get along. Dick and Damian do get along. And I think a lot of people know that Damian and Steph get along
But did you know that Tim was the first one to reach out to Damian? That even now after years of mental and physical abuse Tim would die for his baby brother and mourned his death so heavily he hallucinated him.
Dick and Damian do not have a perfect relationship. Dick has knocked Damian flat on his ass before when he’s getting out of line. Dick does not have endless patience and no one tests patience like Damian.
Duke has never once been afraid of Damian and they hang out sometimes
Jason and Damian don’t really know each other that well. Jason rarely is in Gotham and he’s tried to reach out to Damian but the boy is rude and Jason doesn’t have time for that. Still Jason would do anything for his brother and probably vice versa.
Jason and Tim on the other hand is an interesting one. Started from the bottom and now we here type of deal. We all know Jason tried to kill Tim and was angry as hell. But currently Tim is Jason’s favorite sibling. They get along well and seem to hang out every once and awhile. Jason couldn’t even bring himself to go to Tim’s funeral. Not that he was really dead of course.
Another thing in fanfiction is that everyone is equally loved or Cass is the favorite (she deserves it). But in the comics it’s pretty much non negotiable- Dick is Bruce’s favorite kid.
Important to note about Dick and Bruce which might give more insight to their relationship and why it’s so much stronger. They are not just father and son. They’re also brothers and friends. Many people including Clark have said no one knows Bruce like Dick does. The way Bruce and Dick act is not comparable to the way the others interact with Bruce and he interacts with them.
Dick is adopted by Bruce. He was adopted as an adult in the early 2000s. There are lots of in universe reasons given for this. Important to note that the real reason is back in 1940 a single male was not adopting a kid he had no blood relation to. Bruce had to fight tooth and nail to get guardianship and even had that questioned once or twice. But of course from this point in time twenty years ago Bruce could have adopted Dick but to keep the stories the same and stuff they have to make up reasons to why he didn’t.
When Jason was introduced Dick was angry. He was jealous. And he was hurt that his dad replaced him. Dick told Jason to call him if he needed help and gave him an old costume. They weren’t brothers in the sense that Dick was spending weekends at home. Remember this is when Bruce and Dick were on the outs. They get along better now in post rebirth but there is a bit of tension with Dick faking his death.
Another interesting point. Dick and Cass do not get along in the comics. Dick doesn’t trust Cass and she is tired of being judged by him. They don’t interact often and Dick wants nothing to do with her. I haven’t really seen them talk post Flashpoint so I have no idea what’s up with that. But they basically erased Cass from the Batfam in New 52 so whatever make up what you will I don’t want her erased.
Steph isn’t really a batkid she’s more like a bat-in law between Tim and the very popular I hope it’s canon soon StephCass ship.
Babs is also not a batkid. She works with the Batfam but her main squad is the Birds of Prey.
Anyways feel free to add anything. I just think these could be fun points in fanfiction to address. Basically a lot of Batfam fics I read have everyone getting along with no biases but like you have your favorites and that’s normal. Parents shouldn’t say who their favorites are obviously but humans latch onto some tighter than others. Siblings do the same. But also I like reading about non abusive batdad so what are ya gonna do.
Edit: When I say batkid I mean one of Bruce’s kids. Not a member of team Batman. Just want to clarify. Steph and Babs are obviously very important to the Batman/Gotham Team Roster.
Edit 2: For Jason I mean anything Post Flashpoint really. Post Crisis Jason was a mess and he had his reasons but he really was just out for blood.
