“The first step in a fascist movement is the combination under an energetic leader of a number of men who possess more than the average share of leisure, brutality, and stupidity. The next step is to fascinate fools and muzzle the intelligent, by emotional excitement on the one hand and terrorism on the other.”
“Freedom and Government” - Bertrand Russell

A punchline on wheels
Crucially for Tesla's future, we may have reached a tipping point: The Cybertruck has become a punchline in a way that its owners cannot get out from under. The joke is that they are dupes who paid through the nose for an extremely expensive vehicle that looks like it was designed by a child and does not actually perform many of the functions we expect from a truck, and that they'll put up with any design flaw whatsoever.
Every CyberTruck owner is like, “I paid $80k for this and it almost killed my entire family. Small issue. Love the car!'”

It’s funny but if the draft is ever reinstated then it needs to apply to everyone equally, regardless of wealth, fame or status. Think about it - if it was applied equally to Trump like it should have been, maybe he would have actually served in Viet Nam, and we probably wouldn’t be in the shit show we’re currently in because someone would have fragged him.

It wasn't a place that we felt like we belonged.
All of this beauty and energy and environment just stuck to me.
Tumblr media
I saw thousands of Black cowboys and they were doing the Cupid Shuffle in the desert and they were cooking turkey legs. And there were Black folks dressed like traditional cowboys. There were also Black folks riding their horses in Jordans and women riding with their braids blowing behind them and their hands with long acrylic nails clutching the reins.
Tumblr media
There are Black cowboys pretty much everywhere. I mean, there are Black cowboys here in Portland, Oregon, where I live, which I think is the last place that I would have expected to find them.
Tumblr media
I went all the way to Oklahoma to realize that there were cowboys up the road from me who have been there for four generations ... You'd be hard pressed to find a part of America where there wasn't at least some some portion of this culture.
Tumblr media
Up until a few years ago, I really thought that term cowboy was a joke when applied to a Black person.
But ultimately, cowboy became a shorthand for our noblest ideals.
Tumblr media
A lot of these things our popular culture is hesitant to attribute to a Black person. So I think to have a cowboy rushing in, saving the day with a Black face just didn't jibe with the stories that Hollywood was trying to tell. I think it's erasure. I think it's at best, laziness, at worst, very intentional and malicious. But I'm excited to see that transforming before my eyes.

While we wait for a second printing of my book, here's a new comic l've been working on in between other projects that I finally finished. This is actually my longest comic ever, at just under 40 pages. 😵‍💫 I'll be sharing more parts of it this week but of course you can read the whole thing early for just a buck! Here!

“Hey, are you Eric Adams? FUCK YOU!”
Pricelessly funny: how the look on his face went from almost expecting a compliment, to OMG WTF?
Bless whoever that person is

“I've often wondered, as any Black American I imagine, what kind of slave would I have been? But my question for white Americans is, but what kind of master would you have been? I think that's a legitimate question.
I write about the difficulties of being segregated against, of being abused, but I think sometimes it might be interesting for white Americans to write, and I think it would be difficult, but maybe not. What kind of master would you be? I think that's a legitimate question.
I think it's one of the reasons that a lot of people like to ban books, and we're looking at some of the governance up there, ‘Well, we don't want these stories told.’ But these stories have to be told because you have to ask yourself, what would I have been? What kind of person?
Who would I be if I encounter those unlike me?
You know, there's a card, one of my favorite cards, it's just a card you can purchase at any place. It says teaching your child not to step on a caterpillar does as much for your child as it does the caterpillar. And I've always loved it.
I have bunches, I buy it by the box and I send it out to friends. Because yeah, the caterpillar is just gonna die and the caterpillar’s like, ‘this fool's gonna step on me.’ But it teaches your child it's okay to step on something that's underneath you, that's smaller than you, that might could use your help.
But more, if you leave the caterpillar alone, it will become a butterfly. And look at that, look at the joy just watching a butterfly brings. So, you know, you have to ask who would I be if I could be my better person?”

Another aspect of the Gaza Genocide that I want to talk about is the complicity of Internet banking and crowdfunding websites like GoFundMe.
I have seen multiple Gazans raise enough money to leave for Egypt, but the banks and the crowdfunding websites freeze their money or cancel their funds for "suspicious activity" or whatever. Every day that passes in Gaza supplies get more scarce, conditions get more deadly, and the price to cross into Egypt gets more expensive. I've seen people, like ghost-90 here on Tumblr, raise the full amount to get their entire family out of Gaza, but their money gets frozen for so long that the original goal is only a fraction of the price now needed to cross the boarder.
These financial institutions should not be allowed to get away with contributing to the death toll in Gaza. They are intentionally keeping people trapped in a kill zone by withholding money that is rightfully theirs.
I'm so pissed and angry that every avenue for relief for Palestinians is being cut of left and right. It is vile that Gazans are being extorted for 10s of thousands of dollars by the Egyptian gov just to save their family's lives, but even when they play by this corrupt game, the world still finds a way to make them suffer.
My heart is with every Palestinian for the rest of time, from river to sea you will all be free. 🇵🇸❤️

It is fairly common knowledge that for decades, Netanyahu and Israeli leadership have repeatedly and publicly stated that a two state solution and Palestinian statehood was something that they would never tolerate; and the last Israeli president who was even considering Palestinian statehood was assassinated by a rightwing Likud extremist (redundant, I know).
To be clear, I do not agree with all of Norm Finkelstein’s politics, but when it comes to Israel, he pretty much doesn’t miss. I love how he refuted every lie that Dershowitz told.
Anyway, Alan Dershowitz is garbage.

Every time you think he couldn’t possibly fall any further from grace, Alan Dershowitz proves you wrong. There literally is no bottom for conservatives and Trump supporters; there is no low that’s too low, no incredulously asinine argument they won’t argue in favor of.
Witness tampering and witness intimidation are very real things, and Donald Trump and his acolytes would love nothing more than to expose the names of the Trump jurors so that they can incite mob violence against them. And they have already done so whenever the opportunity has presented itself.
As usual, the giveaway is always that whatever “rules” they want to inflict on others, somehow never applies to themselves nor their family and friends.

“America first” indeed.
Bad when America does it, ❤️ when Russia does it.
I’ve lost track of the number of times I’ve had to do a quick double take to see if it was a tankie or a rightwing Republican talking. If you examine it and listen closely, it’s really amazing how much their rhetoric overlaps. Sometimes the Venn diagram is just a big ole circle, which isn’t surprising because both parties care about the suffering of others ONLY if they like the people being harmed. Otherwise it’s cool indifference or worse, because they’re good with authoritarianism, imperialism and colonialism, because “communism” ☭ or some such bullshit. Completely morally and intellectually inconsistent with the beliefs they espouse.
Indistinguishable from conservative rhetoric.
