#all of tory's character was solely about that

for someone who hates how they wrote s2 Tory I sure do latch on to a lot of little details from her first couple of episodes huh
#like I have so many complaints about s2 tory bc she was clearly written only as an obstacle and not as a full character#which worked at the time and she served her purpose but because she IS a full character now#it's really hollow and a disservice to her in hindsight#I try to make sense of it the best I can but for me the really important parts when it comes to what I take away for her characterization#are her introduction + her early interactions with aisha and sam#because up until the point where it became about her basically competing with sam over miguel#she was her own person. briefly. but then they decided to pit these girls against each other over a boy and suddenly#all of tory's character was solely about that#like think about it after she's introduced and that whole thing kicks off we only ever see her in the context of her rivalry with sam#even her entire relationship with miguel after they first got together is framed specifically through the lens of that rivalry#which is why that always came across as something more hollow and why it didn't work for me.#the whole reason for the school fight was bullshit so everything only makes sense to me if I look at it like#everything she did was because of her trying to find her footing in this new place and feeling pushed out by someone else#and her being made to feel inferior#she put pressure on her own relationship because of it and even though Miguel was still hung up on sam#she kept pushing it to be something that it wasn't ready to be because she couldn't 'let larusso win'#which is why she implodes so easily at the kiss because it just affirms to her everything she already thought#and the problem is not that she's pissed bc she thinks her boyfriend is cheating on her#it's that she feels insignificant and like she never mattered. like she was just there to pass the time.#it wasn't about the kiss really the kiss was just the tipping point. the fight was really about everything that had been going on beforehand#I'm rambling a lot in the tags damn and I think I've probably talked about this before but#I feel like maybe I should talk about s2 tory more even though I ignore a lot of shit bc it's redundant or pointless to her character lol

The droughtula is lasting forever so here are some headcanons about Dracula's characters' politics.
Arthur Holmwood (Lord Godalming) Let's get the difficult one out of the way first. Arthur is nobility, a hereditary peer in the House of Lords, in the 1890s. He's literally entitled to a say on legislation solely because of who his ancestors were. So he's unlikely to have views that we'd find sympathetic in 2023, and is probably a Tory.
He's well-travelled and outward-looking, so I think his greatest political concern is empire. He's eager to ensure that Britain is victorious in the Scramble for Africa, concerned about growing tensions with the Boers in South Africa, and admires the leadership of Lord Salisbury.
(sorry about this)
Jonathan Harker I think Jonathan is and always will be aware of how lucky he's been, as an orphan who's then catapulted into vast wealth thanks to the generosity of Mr Hawkins. As a result, I think he would be very keen to support others and generally vote for a government that's focused on the eradication of poverty. At the same time, I don't think he would be particularly radical; I think he would shy away from revolutionary thinking.
I see him finding reasonably a happy home in the 1890s Liberals, and supporting the beginnings of the welfare state in the early 1900s. He might even join the Fabian Society. By the 1920s, his sympathies would shift to the Labour Party.
Mina Harker I've written a bit about Mina's politics already. The obvious question is what she thinks of women's suffrage, and I'm inclined to say that her view is that women should have the vote one day, but not yet. At least, not at a national level; I think she'd support the move in the 1890s to allow women to vote in local elections. She would be more focused on women's access to education, so that when the time came for them to get the vote, they would be educated enough to use it wisely.
Unfortunately one other thing we know about Mina is that she's interested in physiognomy, a pseudoscience that's connected to eugenics. So it's depressingly plausible that a real-life Mina would have an interest in eugenics as well.
Lucy Westenra I think Lucy is probably less politically aware than Mina is, but also quite possibly more radical in her views. After all, we see more of Lucy chafing against her social role than we do Mina (though Lucy's life is also a lot more restricted than Mina's). As an upper-middle or upper-class woman, doing charitable works is a big part of her role. That would bring her into contact with poverty, and I think she would want to do whatever she could to help.
I don't think she would be formally a member of any campaigning organisations, but I suspect she might be sympathetic to the temperance movement. That would be her route to women's suffrage, as the two causes were connected in the 1890s. Where Mina might worry that women lacked the education to use their vote wisely, Lucy would feel that in a good marriage, a husband would help his wife to make the right choices.
Abraham Van Helsing One sec, just need to give myself a crash course in Dutch politics of the 1890s.
OK I'm back. Dutch society at this time was divided based mostly on religion: Protestant, Catholic and a secular socialist grouping. This was called 'Verzuiling' ("pillarisation") and it meant that each of the sections of society were effectively segregated: separate schools, separate institutions, separate newspapers and little intermarriage between the "pillars".
By rights that puts Van Helsing into the Catholic pillar, but I can't see it - this is a man whose close friend is an English Protestant who's half his age. The group most likely to oppose the notion of Verzuiling were the Liberals, sometimes treated as a pillar of their own. And I think that's where Van Helsing would most naturally fit.
People who learned about this bit of Dutch history more than five minutes ago should feel free to chime in.
Quincey Morris I know about as much about US politics in the 1890s as I do Dutch politics, but that's not going to stop me.
I instinctively feel that Quincey Morris has strong views on something relatively niche, like the adoption of the gold standard. So I'm pleased to learn that the adoption of the gold standard was in fact a live political debate in the US in the 1890s. Quincey is in favour. He supports hard money policies and - as a wealthy landowner - particularly worries about the rise of the People's Party back home.
Jack Seward The biggest wildcard of the lot. Other than Van Helsing, I think Jack is the character most likely to have read widely and to be open to unexpected ideas. But ultimately I think his attitude to politics is driven by his interest in and desire for technological progress, which would lead him towards the Liberal Party.
He would be horrified by Tory prime minister Lord Salisbury's repeated opposition to change (e.g. his 1879 statement that "Whatever happens will be for the worse, and therefore it is in our interest that as little should happen as possible"). If he lives long enough, he'll be delighted by Wilson's "white heat of technology" speech in the early 1960s.

Tumblr media
❥ he keeps hair ties around his wrist, strategically mixed in with his bracelets, and stashes a few scrunchies in the pocket of his backpack because he knows how much you hate it when your hair is flying around in your face (especially when it's getting stuck in your lip gloss). bonus points if you have textured hair and wear a bonnet while you sleep because he'll totally buy (steal) you one and keep that on him, too (for impromptu sleepovers)
❥ he practically lives in your room/house
❥ he can measure precisely how sad you are depending on what song you're listening to
❥ stargazing and having conversations about everything and nothing
❥ tucks you in when you fall asleep without a blanket or on top of the covers
❥ (for those who have/experience periods) he's too embarrassed to go out and buy you pads/tampons (only because he doesn't know what he's doing and is so adorably nervous about it), so when you aren't looking, he'll steal a few of yours and keep them at the chateau for you. he even keeps some at his house on the off chance that you come over
❥ i've talked about this in the past, but he'll take your makeup off and do your skincare for you if you're too drunk, high or just plain exhausted
❥ he's clingy as fuck when he's tired and will make you his personal body pillow
❥ will deny it to the group's faces but he loves to sing/dance to taylor swift with you, especially in the car (#carpoolkaraoke)
❥ when you're baking/cooking, he'll dip his fingers into everything and give it a taste test because he loves the look on your face when you 'scold' him
❥ always has a hoodie on/with him because he knows you're too stubborn and will deny that you'll get cold (even though you definitely will)
❥ dragging you out of bed at 3am for slurpees
❥ constantly finding ways to touch you
❥ asks you to teach him how to braid hair
❥ he'd steal one of your rings and loop it onto his shark tooth necklace so you're always with him
❥ if you have a dog, cat, etc., he'll carry them around your face like they're his baby (which they are)
❥ hogs the covers and yanks them off of you so you have to move closer to him/cuddle with him
❥ takes you for night swims at the beach/at the chateau
❥ picks random flowers for you, sometimes he'll put them in your hair
❥ he always carries your bags for you
❥ opens every single door for you (he's such a gentleman, i love him)
❥ if he's close with your parent(s)/guardian(s), he'll come over solely to hang out with them (and revel in the pout on your face when you realize he isn't there to chill with you)
❥ the type to binge-watch your shows with you and ask a million questions about the characters/plots but refuses to watch it on his own
❥ plays with your stuffed animals and gives them all different voices (and definitely steals one when you aren't looking)

Oh, I so agree with you about the lack of Terry in promos being... unsatisfying. So many things they're playing with this season were set in motion by Terry. Terry mentioned Kim Sung Young first, who they now have cast. Terry wanted to go to the Sekai Taikai. Terry introduced Kim Da Eun. If they can get Kreese out of prison with a box of Jell-o, no way can they keep Terry in jail for more than three hours. If he can spin heading Dynatox into being a green philantropist, he can doctor this. If Kenny still has a major part to play, well who mentored him?
I could have understood it if they wanted to shift away from the Terry storyline and focus on what the show started as, reclaiming your life through karate. But then, it would have made much more sense to keep Kreese in prison, send Chozen and Da Eun home, and not focus so much on Tang Soo Do. But if they're setting that legacy up as the überthreat, it makes no sense for Terry not to be involved. The Sekai Taikai was his baby, moreso than Cobra Kai, even. Maybe the CK brand has been compromised, but so what? Hearsay. Simply rebrand.
Terry completely revitalised a show that had milked everything out of Johnny-Kreese there was to milk, keeps shying away from consequences with Robby and Miguel and would never give Sam and Tory the gay awakening that drives them. To dump him and keep Chozen and Da Eun around makes no damn sense!
Exactly. Precisely.
Terry Silver is the lifeblood that keeps this show running.
Because what else is there to do with this plot?
A lot of storylines got tragically milked to completion seasons ago.
And I don't think for the life of me Da Eun, who quite literally got flown into the plot during the penultimate mid-season is a strong enough character to be the end all-be all final boss villain. She doesn't have the charisma to pull what Thomas Ian Griffith pulled in TKK3. She was just introduced pretty much last minute and our attachment to her is at best nonexistent to miniscule with her only connection to anything going on in the plot at all is through Kreese, Silver and their mutual history with the sport. In the plot itself, girl even seemed like she was begrudgingly in the States in the first place and had to be talked into staying by Terry. To carry the whole endgame conclusion of this show and well over forty years of lore between the characters as the ultimate bad guy? Yeah, nope. Don't see it. There's just no development there. No meat.
As you said. It makes no damn sense.
And I will be in the minority here, which is entirely alright for me, but I really have an abject allergy for fan concoctions like brining back Julie Pierce in Season 6 or having Chozen and Da Eun have a showdown to fill in plot gaps. Shoehorning in Julie Pierce for a random, out of nowhere cameo when the one attachment she had to the plot was vaguely through a character dead for well over forty years just so she could tutor female character x and y for a short period of time is unnecessary at this late stage and I don't think Chozen and Da Eun warrant enough stakes to suddenly become mortal foes that take up space like that in the last season, but hey, that's just me; like, where are these rivalries even coming from? They met like yesterday. Do you two even know each other's full names!? Like!?
Terry Silver, John Kreese and the Sekai Tekai are sole the points of interest left.
After all, show's called Cobra Kai and they are Cobra Kai.

i'm rewatching one heartstopper episode right now for the sole purpose of finding where they used Hot & Heavy by Lucy Dacus because i've been OBSESSED with that song lately and i've seen it on the heartstopper playlist and found out which episode it was it so yeah. Lots of words to get to my point. I'm having thoughts about Isaacs character arc and how you can really tell that he feels excluded around all the couples but can't really put a finger on why yet and even though his friends very much try to include him there still seems to be a disconnect there. all just from the editing and acting without outright saying it (90% of the time) it's GREAT!! I wish he'd gotten more screen time to see what he's feeling and thinking more often but i hope we'll see more of him in s3
(and also Tori's ace journey!! especially because they filmed the ferris wheel scene !!! AAAAHHHHHH i am so excited!!!!!)

I am not shocked or surprised by any new announcement/action by the tories - and yet...
It's just one thing after another
Painting over cartoon murals intended to put newly arrived asylum seeking children at ease (because something something 'child safety stop the boats!)
Proudly declaring that they're going to 'clamp down' on degrees that don't immediately lead to high income employment (because the so-called 'poor value' of degrees has got nothing to do with the imposition of tuition fees, anti-intellectualism, and an exploitative labour market. Nope. In fact, culture and learning is bad and erudition should be the sole preserve of posh bastards who vote tory)
Continued determination to make it mandatory that teachers inform parents if a child is questioning their gender, requiring parental consent before validating trans kids' names and identities (because parents are absolutely never abusive, and what's safeguarding anyway?)
Getting some culture war dickhead to be the new Ofsted leader (because zero-tolerance has proved itself to be the most successful way to ensure no children are ever left behind in education)
Squeezing as many vulnerable asylum seekers as (im)possible on to a barge carefully positioned on the outskirts of an underesourced, tory represented community with relatively high levels of deprivation (because it's super generous, won't rile the locals leading to further demonisation of an already vulnerable group of people)
Offering up a stingy pay rise for public sector workers which will be covered by increasing visa and nhs fees for migrants (gosh we are so lucky there are no immigrants working in the public sector - especially in the nhs!)
Not to mention every few days a tory gets published in a right wing rag spouting some cruel, dogwhistle laden nonsense demonising marginalised communities, and acting like they haven't inacted policies which have - quite literally - killed people, and left many more impoverished
And in the midst of all this, there are still centrists bleating on about 'reaching across the aisle' and befriending tories. How, pray, can you maintain a healthy friendship with someone who would - at best - second guess you if you told them you'd been subjected to racist police harassment, or been rendered stateless because the racist hostile environment policy rejected your claim of citizenship, or that your trans kid was spiralling because they weren't getting adequate support, or your aunt was stuck in Khartoum because she's the wrong kind of refugee
It's not that being 'progressive' immediately makes you a great person; we're human and just as prone to being insufferable dickheads as anyone else (not to mention, despite alleged political views, prone to all the bigotries...), but happily aligning yourself with such consistent cruelty and dimness kind of makes you a dubious character does it not

Something I’m curious about how (and you’ve probably explained) each character teleports ?
Like I know epi is super silent and jump scares people, but I’m wondering how dramatic (or subtle) everyone else is
teehee yes!! I don’t know that I’ve gone through any List formally but I certainly can!! Now, Epi is the exception not the rule and as I’ve explained before - his creepy silent jumpscare teleportation is basically the only method of teleportation like that lmfao????? That’s only him????
So for ALL GODS EXCEPT EPI, teleporting by default always manifests in its simplest possible form with a quick flash of light or color, maybe a quick puff of like smoky color or something, not a tangible material but - accompanied by a little sound. ….specifically a little ‘poof’ sound. Quite literally our action tag/OoC/IC slang for teleporting is “poofing” bc of this lmao. So if not otherwise specified, it’s just something simple along those lines. Within Elysium there’s a handful of deities who do teleport a little bit fancier or have had their ~*styles*~ specifically mentioned! maybe more of them but offhand this is the list thats got canonical textual evidence
Maci: GIANT plume of dark/black smoke and flame, this should be COMPLETELY obvious
Tory: also smoke and flame, but less dramatic
Loki: depending on his mood - defaults to a very dramatic flash of bright green light, the same as any time he uses his magic, but he can also teleport silently. Epi appearing behind him irked him so much that he specifically taught himself how to Just Appear for the sole purpose of doing it back to Epi (and everyone else)
Hecate: teleports through bright cyan light again just like Loki the same as any time she uses her magic
Ker: explodes out of/dissolves into a puddle of blood
Seph (&Demeter): through a shower of flower petals and leaves
Meli: a swirl of white light & black energy (I don’t want to say black light bc that’s a thing and that’s not THIS thing. you know just The Color Black!)
Thanatos: also through black “light”. black void? (but Hypnos: blue light. Again that’s just the default tho)
Pho: has not yet learned in canon to teleport of course cause technically he’s baby but naturally he explodes into gold light and glitter. Again this should be completely obvious
Glaukos, + any water god of course: water splash! and melting again into a puddle. Canonically described teleporting WITH him FEELS like being dunked in water
And finally and a special shout out to Apollo ad Zeus who each have appeared to cameo in Elysium - Apollo of course through blinding bright sunlight flash explosion ; Zeus of course through lightning and thunder.
anyone not specifically mentioned just poofs around “normally” like I mentioned up above!! or maybe in a fun special way that hasn’t been revealed yet to my/our knowledge haha. thanks for asking this!!

If I could change one thing in TURN…
“Even though it was you who lied about who you were, you still don’t know who I am.” / “Thieves, soldiers, continental militia, they’re all the same…” - Sarah Livingston, TURN
Tumblr media
“You’re a Tory…”
“And you’re a traitor.”
- TURN
Tumblr media
If I could change one thing in TURN: Sarah Livingston wouldn’t die tragically and wouldn’t be utilized for Benjamin Tallmadge’s ‘man pain.’
Disclaimer: I love Benjamin Tallmadge, I’m just sincerely tired of not male characters being defined by their relationship(s) of any sort but especially to men and being played down as ‘docile’ or ‘helpless’. #Mencanstillgetawaywithalot
I really don’t need to explain this and I’m fully aware Sarah is a minor character in the show TURN. However! Given Elizabeth Blackmore and Seth Numrich’s both extensive acting careers, credits and works, I simply wish that Sarah didn’t didn’t die. I believe as Benjamin is our primary (anti) hero, he is naturally in need of a foil and I do love the culper ring, Abraham and Anna, but I don’t see them as narrative foils. They have too much in common.
Plus, at minimum through implication Sarah Livingston isn’t well-to-do and she’s a widow. Something often erased (just like Abigail aka Abby) in period dramas and I think it’d have been a great opportunity to expand upon how even with good intentions (Benjamin) there are no real “heroes” in history, or revolution(s) merely winners and losers.
This will definitely result in more essaying and more editing, RPing and fan fiction writing, but, for now, I’ll leave it at Sarah Livingston deserved better and more.
For though I love Benjamin Tallmadge, dearest cavalry lad, the world and revolutions don’t revolve solely around him.

Happy STS. Okay, hear me out. Your story becomes a musical. *grandly presents you with the opportunity to turn this into literally whatever you want* (Who knows all the choreography? Who is pissed? Who somehow escapes singing?) (What scene has the best song? What your story's musical sound like? Does it being a musical make any sense at all?)
Hello, Tori! Thanks and happy STS to you, dear^^
(I'm going to use also characters that aren't inherently OCs but are based on mythological figures as well since this looks like fun)
I'm not sure whether it would make much sense turning the story into a musical (I'm choosing City of False Gods for this ask) as it's mostly a serious writing. Though, there's plenty of jokes in it too and a scene or two could potentially lead to a singing number. Let's go then.
The score would be a strang emix of traditional Chinese music, swing, jazz and a lot of upbeat tunes and maybe a reoccuring theme with a melody that may remind of a historical drama (it's set in the late 1920s Hong Kong with a cast of ancient demons).
Ulfrika is pissed due to all the noise around her. Not a single corner to chill and mind her own business. But when she gets to play an instrument it's a real deal as she loves the music itself. Just don't give her happy songs. She plays in minor key only.
Márgerdra is a pretty good actress and an excellent singer. This woman has that diva aura around herself. She sure knows how to steal the spotlight until Wukong rolls in. Because this guy. He. Just. Steals. The. Whole. Show. For. Himself. He was 100% the biggest surprise for everyone there since he has much better singing voice than expected. That and he just knows how to move those hips and keep the rythm. His and Mar's tango dance was the best scene and everybody buys tickets solely to see this scene (it's a fighting/dancing scene with a lots of action and charm).
Xue is one mess before the show but she ends up getting the biggest praise since this was her first time and she killed the role. She doesn't dance much but her voice is really pretty despite how fragile it may seem to be at first.
Bajie escapes both singing and almost singing until Vivienne drags him into her number. This girls has too much fire in her and it shows. She's great but she tends to forget her lines. So during the rehearsals, she often fought with the others because she'd confuse the scenes and so on. She improvises a lot even during the show and Bajie is the only one who seems to tolerate her plans.
Wujing was supposed to dance but he twisted his ankle during the rehearsals. Now, he only rolls with awkward walking around. HOWEVER he delivers his lines like a king. And his confontation with Ricky was a peak performance.
Zhihao is adorable when singing his only song about living in the streets given he's the only kid in the entire cast. The audience breaks down in tears when he hugs his dog Jingjing by the end of it.
BONUS: Entire cast of mechanics slay the floor with their dancing number mixed with acrobatic jumps around the vehicles.

In my AU, mar’i grayson and damian wayne are around the same age, damian being older than mar’i. We know Dick wanted to bring Damian back to bludhaven, so what if he did?
I am obsessed with Cobra Kai and I can't help how Mar’i aligns so well with Sam Larusso. Both are kind hearted, strong willed, independent characters who want to escape the shadow of their parents. They’re sheltered, considering Dick wouldn't be so… ecstatic that mar'i chose to follow in his footsteps. And Sam Larusso was naive to the struggles of others because her father blessed her with whatever she wanted.
Now Dick brings the cunning, arrogant, ruthless Damian Wayne, who parallels Tory Nichols from Cobra Kai,to live with the Graysons. Damian Wayne was the heir to the demon head before he was a son. A kid. And Tory Nichols had to learn at a young age that she was more useful as the provider for the family than being a daughter. Both characters are fighters to the core. They both had to grow up fast because their families demanded it.
I think Mar’i and Damians’ fighting styles could parallel Sam and Torys’.
When Dick trained Mar’i for the sole purpose of defending herself and her family if need be, but he trained her well, just like Daniel trained Sam since she was a kid through defense-only, Miyagi-Do style.
Tory and Damian are violent and remorseless (in the beginning). Damian would align heavily with Cobra Kai’s ideologies : Strike first, strike hard, no mercy.
These two would clash at first meet, similar to Sam taking an immediate disdain for Tory when they meet at the country club. Damian sees Mar’i as a weak, naive princess, while Mar’i thinks he is arrogant,self-important, and violent. But it's deeper than that.
Mar’i thinks Dick didn't want to leave the mantle of Batman behind entirely when Bruce takes back the mantle; That's why he brought Damian. The longer Damian stays with Dick is when he realizes what his mother put him through was not to better him, it was abuse. Damian thinks Mar’i takes advantage of how good she's had it her whole life.
Their rivalry finally boils over when Damian challenges Mar’i to a duel.  Mar’i says she has nothing to prove, so Damian strikes first. And like her dad taught her ( like Daniel taught Sam) she uses all of her skills to defend herself.
*cough* West Valley Brawl in season 2
And instead of a spiked bracelet like tory used against sam, he pulls out a knife that cuts mar’i pretty deep. But honestly I think Mar’i would manage to defeat him , i mean she is the daughter of Batman’s greatest success, daughter of the best fighters in the batfamily.
Granted, whole life isn't about training a fighter, like Damian’s life was, but she can hold her own without powers. Thats why its a very slim defeat, like when Sam defeated Tory.
In conclusion, I love Cobra Kai. and Mar'i and Damian

I rewatched season 5 and all it did was further my disappointment. Ive never made it a secret that i only started watching the show for Tanner/Robby. And i only stuck around because i love the character.
But HOLY FUCK did they do Robby so Badly. Like do the writers hate Robby? Cause i think they do. He has been put through so much during the show and alot of it ended up not doing anything for the plot other than traumatize the already moat traumatized kid on the show.
Robby always seems to have the short end of the stick in this show from losing the AV twice because plot demanded it despite him being THE most (other than sam) talented of the participants, to going to juvie (self defense). Robby can never be happy, and his trauma and feelings are always downplayed by the writers.
What did this season have him do? APOLOGIZE TO EVERYONE. I was so tired of seeing Robby apologize without getting any back. Especially from miguel, the scene with Johnny making them fight was so fucking stupid and dangerous. Robby admitting he regretted it was fine and probably good for him because it meant getting the guilt he felt off his chest, BUT he deserved and apology too. Miguel escalated everything during the fight and pushed everything to the point! He needed to apologize to robby too for pushing it that far, because news flash tory and miguel were the aggressors of the school fight and both owe robby and sam and apology. But Robby didnt get one because the writers feel like he either didn't deserve one or miguel shouldnt have to after what happened to him (which was tragic, but he needs to admit his hand in it too).
Hawk owes Robby an apology for a whole fucking lot imo. How he acted during the first all valley, how he jumped robby and sam, how he kept continuously accusing Robby of helping instigate fights between dojos at the water park (despite robby doing what robby does best and trying to stop them? See a pattern? Me too).
Hawk is a miniature Johnny, he never faces any real consequences for his actions. He destroyed the Dojo and nothing. Broke Dimitris arm? Nothing which is assault with bodily harm btw (not self defense at all). And never once did we see Hawk apologize to anyone (i might be misremembering but honestly it doesn't change my mind on hawk). Hawk is the character who owes the most apologies to the most people and yet nothing. But Robby seemingly apologized for everything to everyone amd i hated it.
I sort of enjoyed how everyone became friends at first until i realized that it was all because Robby had to conform and become someone else to fit into everything. Someone mentioned in a post that we saw Chameleon Robby out in full force this season and i couldn't agree more. Robby had to twist and turn to make his relationship with johnny work, and the one thing he was clear about was not liking or wanting to be Miguel's friend. And honestly i don't blame him, especially after johnny lied, tricked, and guilted Robby into helping him rescue miguel (the mexico plot was pretty fucking pointless imo) but Johnny kept pushing and once again made things dangerous for robby and miguel by telling them to fight.
My favorite interaction and the most genuine was with Robby and Daniel and i WISH we got more, because Robby was at his happiest in season 2 when he was living with the Larusso's and was accepted without question, no conditions. He could be himself. Where as with Johnny it feels like his acceptance of robby is conditional. Robby is only welcome if he conforms and essentially submits to what Johnny wants. And Robby has no reason not to think that if he steps out of line Johnny will abandon him like he has done Robbys entire life.
I hated this season solely because of how bad it was for Robby. Pure and simple. The only good thing was how determined Robby was to help Tory and Kenny. He never gave up on them. Robby has this habbit of being who he needs for others. He needs people to believe in him and never give up on him, He needed a mentor whose help wasn't conditional. He needed people to be there for him. But he didnt have that so he became that for others. Despite this being such a shitty season for Robby, at least that shone through.

The Tory Prom Parable: A Fix-It Fic in Polls: Part 4
Part 1: link
Part 2: link
Part 3: link
Previously, on the Tory Prom Parable...
You and Robby Keene crashed the West Valley High junior prom with the sole intention of pissing off your lame exes, Miguel Diaz and Samantha LaRusso. It works like a charm! They catch sight of you walking in in a power stance, and they are in fact pissed off immediately.
But there's been a snag in your carefully-crafted plan--you forgot to account for the fact you exist in a fix-it fic, so unlike the absolute trainwreck that was 4x08, Sam and Miguel will actually be acting in-character here. Which means, of course, that they immediately got the fuck out of there, considering...you know. Y'all traumatized them terribly that one time and all that jazz.
You are faced with the decision of how to proceed with your targets gone...
Tumblr media
You decide your best move is to use the age-old wisdom "If it sucks, hit da bricks!!!" And indeed, this dance does suck balls and much battery and aggravated assault will be committed against building materials on this fine night.
"You want to get out of here?" you ask Robby. "I mean...our exes aren't even here, and prom is a stupid performative rich kid thing anyways."
His eyes light up with such unfiltered excitement that it's actually kind of cute.
Robby Keene also has pretty eyes. Not that you'd ever tell him that, no sir. You told Miguel Diaz he had pretty eyes once, and look how that turned out.
"My thoughts exactly, Tor," Robby says. "To hell with this place."
Tor?! That's kind of...
No. No, bad Tory. We're not doing this song and dance again. Dating is for schmucks who inevitably get ditched for rich kids with trust funds and whatever-the-fuck-else.
This havoc-causing night is strictly professional, and you know it.
On the way out you pass Hawk and Demetri on the dance floor, jokingly waltzing to some ballad.
At least...you think they're jokingly waltzing. They're eye-fucking the crap out of each other, which is pretty damn weird.
You wonder if perhaps it's no accident that Demetri's wedgie-receiving and also weirdly hot girlfriend is nowhere to be found.
Well, no matter.
You ram your shoulder into Demetri as you pass, making him spill punch on his stupid pac-man suit. Get fucked, nerd.
"Hey, what the fuck was that?!" Hawk shrieks after you. "Come back here! I'll beat your ass!"
"Was that Tory Nichols?" you hear Demetri say, in a tone a frightened rabbit might use if prey animals could talk. Good.
You're unconcerned. Hawk is all bark and no bite. He wouldn't have even snapped that pussy Demetri's arm if you and the Cobras hadn't been cheering him on. Take away the best of his team, and Hawk is just a weirdo with a back tattoo and a mediocre punch at best.
"What a couple of suckers," you say to Robby.
To your surprise, he frowns a little bit.
"Demetri's alright," he says. "We were in Miyagi-Do together. He's not all that annoying once you get to know him a bit."
You stop just before the back door, feeling a sudden rush of anger.
"Hey! Who never once emailed you in juvie? Who was all too happy to boot you out of his life as soon as you accidentally hurt Precious Golden Boy Miguel Diaz? Face it, Robby--he chose the aggro asshole who kissed your girlfriend and the guy who broke his own arm over you when you were nothing but a good friend to him."
Robby hesitates.
"I don't know if I was--"
"You protected that loser nerd at the mall. And again at that party. And what'd you get in return? He ghosted you and went crawling back to the same asshole buddies he joined Miyagi-Do to learn how to fight. He only hung out with you so he wouldn't be alone! Kid was all too happy to ditch you when he got back the friends he liked better. For god's sake, have a little self-respect!"
It's strange. You know these stories because you heard them from the other side--Hawk's bitching, mostly--but they're painted in a much different light when she thinks about them from Robby's point of view. He really did do everything he could to protect a naive idiot who refused to stop prodding at one of Cobra Kai's most dangerous fighters.
Demetri hardly deserves that kind of safety net.
You realize too late that you're crying. The anger has grown too raw for you to care.
Because you know what it's like. Always being second-best in someone's heart, no matter how hard you try. Getting fucked over by people you trusted with your greatest vulnerabilities. Fair-weather friends who act like they get you--who act like they care--and then vanish into the wind as soon as your uglier side pokes out.
Aisha Robinson. Miguel Diaz. Hawk Moskowitz. All the friends you've made and lost, moving schools and having new people drawn to your energy only to run when the teeth and claws come out.
Pussies, all of them. But it still hurts.
Robby is silent for some time, just looking at you in surprise. He clearly didn't expect for you to feel so strongly about some nerd in a lame pac-man suit.
Some realization seems to dawn in those nice green eyes of his. "I guess you're right," he says quietly. "I hadn't thought of it like that."
"I know the feeling." You smile weakly, suddenly not caring if you're showing a little vulnerability. "People abandoning you. Giving up on you after one mistake. If there's one thing I've learned, it's just...you have to leave them behind. You have to move on. It hurts, but they're not worth shit if you care more than they do."
"Yeah." Robby nods slowly.
He glances back to where Demetri is still on the dance floor, frantically wiping down his suit with wet napkins. He's probably making the stain worse.
"Actually, you know what?" Robby curls his lip. "Fuck him. He's a whiny bitch of a fake friend."
"Yeah!" Before you can stop yourself, you're genuinely beaming and playfully punching Robby in the shoulder. "That's the spirit! We can do better than those losers, and you know it. You'll wipe the floor with both of them at the tournament, anyways."
That seems to cheer Robby up.
He doesn't strike you as the type of guy who's gotten a lot of unconditional support in his life. You'd be happy to be the first to provide it.
Both of you scurry out the back of the prom venue and find where you parked the car. There's a bright red slip of paper tucked under a windshield wiper. You pull it out and rip it to smithereens, throwing it up so it rains down like confetti because, once again, fuck the police.
"So." You lean suavely against the side of the car, wiggling your eyebrows fake-flirtily (it's only fake flirting, you swear). "Seems like the night is ours, Keene. Guess we should make good use of it."
"Guess we should."

I have 5 questions about barrierfail AU:
Will San and Toriel become a couple later on?
Will you add OC's to this as well?
Will other Sanses from different AU show up?
Will there be a villain that Barrierfail sans have to fight?
Will we see Gaster's be there as Ally or a villain?
Sorry for all the questions I'm just curious. 😅
Ty so much for asking!!
It really means a lot to me to see people interested in my AUs
1: no, Sans and Tori never actually get the chance to become a couple, while there’s definitely hints of attraction a lot of ‘earth shattering’ (you’ll get the pun eventually) things happen that mean no one really has time for relationships
2: I’m not entirely sure what you mean in terms of OCs but there will be several human and monster characters that I’ve made solely for the purpose of Barrierfall (ie: The Human President; President Williams is an important character to the plot)
3: yep, Ink plays another very important part to the AU and Barrier Sans will end up in the Omega Timeline briefly so there will be quite a few other AUs
4: yes, there are two main villains in the story, one Human and one Monster, and I do t want to spoil too much but the Monster Villain is a cannon character, one of the main bosses of Undertale
5: Gaster isn’t technically alive anymore as by the time Barrierfall takes place he’s already fallen into the core, however there is a lot of time shenanigans that end up happening meaning Gaster dies actually appear a few times, he’s more morally grey than anything but leaning closer towards ally then to villain
Hope this answered your questions!!
Again, ty for asking, if you need anything more clarified I’d be happy to answer!!

Some wonky things about Cobra Kai S5 that just hit me like a brick over the head:
― The villains being shown as childless, family-less and ultimately loveless. They’re The Others. It is only the heroes and those on the path of redemption who have or will have families, found families, actual friends (they don’t have to bribe or buy), offspring (adoptive or otherwise) and committed significant others.
― The grounded, nuanced representation of Terry Silver we were promised somehow boiled down to an age old stereotype of a youth-corrupting, greedy, materialistic, manipulative, snake emblematic, wealthy, sleazy Jewish man who wants to take over the world and ‘Steal the soul of The Valley’. In 2022, year of our Lord.
― The characters morals and ethics are ultimately measured by their proximity to either Daniel Larusso and Johnny Lawrence as the sole arbitraries of all good, proper values respectively. If you’re on the side of all things right, you’re either on the track of being on their side, or merely getting there.
― Women are mothers and girlfriends, and sometimes, when we want to supposedly up the anti and shake up the diversity, they’re also angry Asian Dragon Lady tropes --- who is also single, by the way. Because no heroic person is ever left unpaired with someone else and when they are left single, they’re going through a Dark Night of The Soul, the way Sam and Tory respectively did.
― Johnny Lawrence more than ever before being posed as the model of old timey, bygone 80′s masculinity and ideals and getting endless do-overs, second, third and fourth chances and rewards over literally doing the bare minimum and sometimes not even that much, with his character arc progressing backwards so much, he is literally a comedic caricature of his former self.
― Sometimes violence is bad and sometimes it is okay and even justified. Really depends who does it. If someone bad does it, then clearly, it is bad, and if someone good does it, then it is conveniently forgotten about, pushed under the rug, made light of, glossed over and scrapped as a plot-point.
― The complex, layered friendship between John and Terry being revised in such a weird, inconsistent fashion where Johnny Lawrence, is yet again, inserted in the midst of them as the one ‘John cared for more’ to once more, distance John from Terry and bring him closer on the moral scale to the ‘side of right’ by him having just a teeny, tiny bit of attachment more to the prime model arbitrary of the show.
― The original pacifist heart and message of the whole franchise somehow culminated in an overblown sword vs sai duel one on one, Daniel pulverizing his foe in front of an audience in an elaborate humiliation conga, in an all out chaotic battle where everyone fought everyone on a big messy, violent pile and yet only Terry Silver got apprehended and nobody got questioned and at this point, this is all about as pacifist as a nuclear explosion.
― The importance of everything oscillating wildly and bizarrely depends where the plot needs it to be and depending who gets the sympathetic spotlight this time around. Last season, Terry was suffering from war flashbacks and obviously unhealed, suppressed trauma that has haunted him all his life. This season, he says he never had to scrape for anything (not even through Vietnam and a POW camp?). This season, we also get Samantha’s trauma nightmare nexus treated with the seriousness Terry doesn’t get.
― Cobra Kai (the evil guys) still being the most diverse of dojos, of course and don’t get me started about the lack of any other sexuality other than straight.

• Zodiac Academy series by Caroline Peckham & Susanne Valenti •
When I started reading this series back in March, I never expected to find a new obsession.
But that’s exactly what happened.
The story follows Tory and Darcy, orphaned twins living in Chicago who, it turns out, are the lost princesses to the throne of Solaria who no one even knew were still alive until their magic awakened on their 18th birthday. They’re quickly collected, enrolled at Zodiac Academy, and expected to graduate and inherit their parents’ money – though not the throne since the sons of the four members of the Celestial Council have been groomed to rule. It’s hate at first sight – and Tory and Darcy are not the kind of women who refuse to rise to a challenge.
I won’t lie to you, the first book can be *very* hard to get through, especially if this is your first “bully romance” – but once you reach the end, several characters will have likely lodged themselves in your heart and the cliffhanger will have you reaching for book two.
The Zodiac Academy series is an incredible adventure – there’s some serious plot moving things forward (and the most intense cliffhangers ever), but the books are also quite character-driven, especially once you hit the middle of the series. With this series, the sister author duo deliver high stakes, magic, mystery, humor, spice, and a cast of characters you really will want to spend all of your time with.
I’ve had *the best time* getting swept up in these books, joining the authors’ reader group and BookTok with the sole goal of screaming about the series, and finding a community of seriously fun, lovely readers – who are always happy to welcome more ZA obsessives!✨
