Don't get stuck on a scene
Not in the mood to write the scene you’re working on? Don’t worry about it! Make some notes and move on.
There is no shame in just jotting down the main points in a scene and revisiting it later. It’s ok to just not be feeling it sometimes.

If you’re a musician or writer and like my art style I’d happily make a cover for you. Tell me your idea and I’ll let you know if I think I can do it. Or just send me the thing you need a cover for and I’ll do my best to depict what it evokes in me. Not really looking to be paid, though it’d be appreciated of course if you have the means, I just want to work with fellow artists in whatever capacity that may turn out to be. I know before I started making visual art it was always a hope of mine that someone would be inspired enough by my writing to want to work with me but I’m too far along with it at this point and I’m making the art now myself so it occurred to me that I could be the artist helping illustrate the intangibles of other peoples’ writing and music and fulfill that ideal. Art is the greatest conversation and I want nothing more than to be part of it.

Find the Word Tag
Thanks as always to the lovely @axl-ul for the tag! You can check out their post here!
I'm a bit late with this one but better late than never!
Gently Tagging: @rowanmgrey-author, @imbrisvastatio, @wintherlywords, and @girlfromthecrypt
Your Words: blanket, house, light, color, soil
My words: chest, book, glass, interest, window
All excerpts are from Festival Project wip!
Chest:
Her father stopped and turned back. He winced as he settled himself down in the chair again. Seeing it sent a stab of guilt and anger through her chest. All this movement wasn’t helping his back injury.
Book:
A gust of cool air musty with the smell of old paper enveloped her. The archive was a simple library. Shelves stacked thick with books brushed up against the low ceiling and a large catalog cabinet stood flush against the left wall.
Glass(es):
And there was Eddie as he remembered him. Sandy-haired and lanky, with square horn-rimmed glasses that magnified the brilliance of those blue eyes. With his thick salted beard and patchy brown trench coat, he looked every bit of the eccentric academician he was.
Interest:
As much as Mariela hated to admit it, September had a point there. The press release hinted at persons of interests and possible co-conspirators. It opened old wounds and, with the uptick in supernatural crime, led to increased tensions between the mortal and supernatural populations in the county. The Edelhaus Church has seized on this tension by spearheading the growing “Normality” movement, which advocated for a classification system and more stringent policies on how the supernatural community conducted itself in mortal spaces.
Windows:
But there was no sleeping through this. He had drank his last can of beer for breakfast that morning. The worst winter storm in 40 years battered the house, icing the windows shut and barricading the door under several inches of snow. The ice on the roads made a drive to the nearest Deadman’s fraught with peril. That ruled out getting more beer, or any other essential to weather the days ahead.

Happy WBW! What is the transportation like in your world?
Hi, Torri! Thanks for the ask and I wish you happy WBW too^^
I'm going to roll with the City of False Gods with this one.
Aside from the usual means of transport (trams, bicycles, maybe motorbikes and/or cars for some), the more interesting types of transport are portals. These are used primarily by the supernatural inhabitants of the fictionalised version of Hong Kong. But even in this case certain regulations are applied for the portal usage.
It's mostly the officials that can use the portals if needed and in all cases they need to report the usage of the portal. The portals are used for audiences when the officials are invited by some of the gods or even by the Jade Emperor himself up to the Heaven.
Some demons and humans with supernatural abilities outside the bureau (sorcerers, witches and so on) are also capable to create and use said portals.
Because this type of transport is usually more efficient for the longer distances (such as going to the Heaven), they aren't commonly used. That's why many demons, sorcerers, (lesser) gods and those in bureau mostly use other ways of supernatural travelling, such as their extreme speed, long jumps, clouds, flying and so on. The rest must use the more normal means (as I mentioned - bikes, trams). Or they just walk to their destination.

Reblog if it's OK for other artists to draw your OCs
Sometimes I get too timid to send asks to ask. I want to see how many people are ok with artists drawing their OCs!

Happy STS! What are your characters' favorite songs? Bonus: Why that song?
Hello Tori! Thank you so much, dear and happy STS to you too^^
Márgerdra - it's either Orpehus by Shawn James (it's the most romantic song she's ever heard) or The Devil You Know by Kovacs (she can relate to the lyrics quite well and she also likes the overall melody)
Ulfrika - Short Change Hero by The Heavy (it has a good rythm, the singer's got a nice voice and it just goes together when she's out driving her car)
Mei - Jolene by Dolly Parton (it was the very first country song she's ever heard, she also loved the way Dolly Parton joked around and her laughter) or Endless Love (不了情) by Tsai Chin (蔡琴) (she's a hopeless romantic, that can't be denied)
Vivienne - Shanghai Diva (上海歌姬) by Lin Bao (林宝) (she may not be from Shanghai but she certainly is a diva and the song has that lively rhythm she loves so much)

Alright, to ao3's soon to be arriving Wattpad Refugees, a basic guide to general user culture:
1.) Unlike Wattpads vote system that let's you like each chapter, the ao3 equivalent kudos only allows one per work. Everyone is generally quietly annoyed about this. To engage with each chapter, you're heavily encouraged to comment. Trust me, it makes people's day.
2.) Ao3 has no algorithm. By default it's latest updated work first. You can find things to your taste through searches, filters and tags.
3.) 'No archive warnings apply' and 'user has chosen not to use archive warnings' mean two very different things. No archives warnings means the work is free from any content that could require a warning tag (character death, graphic depictions of violence, non-con, etc). User has chosen not to use archive warnings means it could contain any of the warning content, be it hasn't been explicitly tagged. Treat it like an allergen. No archive warnings apply is allergen free. User has chosen not to use archive warnings, may contain traces or whole chunks of the allergen. If you're likely to have a bad reaction, maybe don't take the risk.
4.) Speaking of warnings, ao3 has very few restrictions on the type of work that's allowed. Whatever your personal thoughts or feelings on that are, thats how the site is. You're likely to run across some dark subject matters and a lot of people are uncomfortable with reading that. You're well within your rights not like these works and have your opinion on whether they should be allowed, but harassing the authors of such works (or any works) is more likely to come back on you than them. Ao3 operates on a strong policy of 'don't like, don't read'. Use the tagging system to your full advantage to only engage with the kind of works you want to see.
We look forward to welcoming you all and seeing the fantastic works you create. Happy writing!

By the way, I'm really sorry if I'm not responding to anything. I truly appreciate all the reblogs, mentions in tags and the asks, too! I read all of them. Yet I haven't had much time lately to respond to all, and I truly don't want to give a half-assed response to anyone. That being said, I will catch upon you all when some things calm down in my life. Many kudos and lots of love to you sweethearts^^

Heads Up, Seven Up
First of all thanks a lot to lovely @missaddledmiss for the tag! You can find the og post here (plese, give it a try, it's a really nice excerpt).
Soft tags: @sleepyowlwrites @rubywrite @lexiklecksi @angie-j-kay @mariahwritesstuff @toribookworm22 and an open tag for anyone else
I'm picking seven lines from the newest chapter I'm working on from The Flight of the Western Crane.
Turning right and left, not only was the viper shaking like a leaf, his heart skipped a beat as well. An empty stare of a single bulged eye of a young snake clutching a bridle in his left hand, which had two fingers bent into an unnatural way, was piercing the gang leader’s back since he’d walked in. It took him a second to realise that the head wasn’t attached to the body. Instead it had been pierced on a stake. What was left of him, the guts, the bladder or the lungs, hovered above the rest. The other socket, though eyeless, wasn’t left a yawning hole. Instead, just like the torn open trunk, it was stuffed with fur-like hair and talismanic scripts of a charcoal colour.

Find the Word Tag game (chest, book, glass and window)
Greatings everyone, well I have been tag by the always lovely @axl-ul (I apologize for the wait) to find the words chest, book, glass, interest and window in my WIP: The Eternal Throne. Make sure to check out his post right here.
Hope you enjoy!
As always a gentle reminder, these are rough translations from The Eternal Throne.
Chest from Chapter 5: The Smuggler.
One of them, the one directly behind <Samuel>, tried to make a vertical slice with his sword. Before he could even swoop his sword downwards. <Samuel> giving him a quick glance reacted with an even quicker move, turned himself towards his aggressor and putting both hands as support in the bar, delivered a kick with both legs right in his chest; with his guard open the soldier just received the hit, losing balance and falling on his back.
Book from Chapter 2: The Farmer.
<Bren> without much thought, lean over, dropping the staff beside him, taking the book with both hands already open on the floor.
His eyes quickly went through every page trying to decipher its secret, but, his glance only found those walls in ivory. One after the other those blank pages went through and, at that moment, filling the lad with doubts, after all maybe he was mistaken, but his conviction led him to the next page.
Glass from Chapter 10: The Maid.
—Doing what exactly? Searching for myths? Explore ruins of a glory long gone? There's nothing out there worth anything in that cruel world.— Her eyes went glassy and in the starlight they shined as two golden plates —Why do you want to inflict you more pain?
Interest from Chapter 3: The Ranger
—I came here because I heard you had an elusive prey giving you trouble, and now that I’m here I can see that not only it's an elusive one,— she explained while looking at the wall of flames that now was slowly vanishing —but an interesting one as well.
Window from Chapter 1: The Healer.
While exploring the second floor, he found that a main hallway connected with some doors and at the end was a wooden shut window in which dim light passed through. His search continued there, the magus carefully opened each door until behind one of them the detection spell, as expected, finally had a reaction.
Well that's it for me, hope you enjoyed! Now time to tag: @goblin-writer, @asablehart, @maddstermind, @the-down-upside-finch, @lexiklecksi @betweenthetimeandsound @inkhelm and @charlies-storybook. Your words to find are: Word, Seek, Find and Surprise. Have fun!

I swear I'm not dead...
Just half alive. But not dead.
And by that I mean I swear I will come back to the tags. Even if I have to crawl out of the very pit of the darkness (the afternoon nap)

Chapter Titles - **Please provide feedback!!!**
Killing Sunlight (pka Her Fate), up until this edit, had 15 chapters (that were way too long), each of which had a title.
I am now chopping and changing my chapter lengths, which has led to about 14 additional chapters. I now need to name those chapters -which I am NOT finding fun. So, should I axe the chapter titles altogether? I genuinely need feedback on this because I am so so torn.

The Basic Logic of Sword-Fighting Part 2
@caffeine-bee @outpost51 @sam-glade @liv-is I tagged everyone who seemed particularly interested.
Part 1.
The last one had the basic information, this one is still information but it’s a bit more scattered, just sort of things to think about.
It is important to note that everything that I talk about is from the perspective of someone who studied Bolognese fencing, and I do talk about that down below too because it has features which are not necessarily found in other styles of sword fighting.
Some photos again too!

Find the Word Tag
Thanks a lot @somethingclevermahogony for the tag, dear!^^
Soft tags: @emberlyric @deanwax @dyrewrites @anthros-vanitas-archive @philosophika @tabswrites @distortedsense @rubywrite and an open tag for anyone else!
Your words: ward, cackle, mine, spring, awfully
My words: lush, snap, mud, sniff
LUSH
(I couldn't find any in my wip so I'm leaving this one out.)
SNAP
The macaque’s small nose wrinkled, the face markings created black pools and their ink clenched around his big eyes, covering them completely. His head still ached from the fall when the sudden pain in his right thigh and knee made him lose balance. Worse, his torso burnt as if from an unwanted touch. Rage, confusion and fear mixed altogether. A combination so unexpected and unknown, the macaque demon ultimately didn’t know how to react even when he came back from the long dream. An urge to snap at the gang leader and his incompetence built up. He, however, fought it off. He knew better. He must save his strength for a bigger foe. “You didn’t find him, did you? Nor you darned sister you sent that fat duck to.“
MUD
A sharp orange light cut through the veil of the macaque’s eyelids. Not only did it wake him up from a sleep he was unsure whether it belonged to the day or night. The rustling and crunching of old twigs from the firs growing in front of the cave’s entrance underneath the leather boots alerted the nameless macaque, who was tossing on a tattered bed roll dirty from the dried mud and full of parasites waiting in the tall grass nearby.
SNIFF(ED)
Márgerdra leaned back, but Wukong didn’t allow her to walk off. Instead, he shoved his head upwards, which tossed from side to side as his eyelashes fluttered, until he felt her shallow breaths. Wukong sniffed again. His dark eyes lit up.

“So...what's the plan, then?“ puzzled, he asked his widowed friend as he watched him put on the black shades and grin into the noon sun.
“Exactly what I said,“ he turned around and spread his arms,“seduce my ex-wife.“
