all I did tonight was nerd out over martial arts and I think that’s very valid of me

something about how Tory’s stance at the beginning of s4 has her arms held super close and tightly guarded around the chest/heart area and quite literally had her fists aimed towards herself and then by the end of the season her arms are less guarded and in a more natural and comfortable position protecting more of her body instead of just that small area of her chest whereas before her arm position would sacrifice attacks to literally every other part of her in order to protect that heart area

something something psychology about her opening back up and being more comfortable and confident and starting to care more about herself as a whole

“come   on,   you   got   a   killer   dress   for   prom,   this   is   way   formal   than   that   over   the   top   dress.“   sam   points   out.   no   one   at   the   country   club   would   expect   anyone   to   show   up   with   something   that   extra.   she   is   trying   to   find   for   something   in   her   closet   that   would   fit   tory   because   the   other   girl   is   refusing   to   go   buy   for   a   dress.   there   is   a   couple   of   dresses   in   her   hand   already,   showing   them   to   tory.   the   fact   this   is   still   weird   for   her,   considering   only   a   few   months   ago,   tory   had   invaded   her   house   and   destroyed   it   and   now,   they   are   planning   to   take   cobra   kai   together   and   doing   a   clothes   montage   together.   “come   on,   nichols.   step   the   fuck   up.“

           ❝ THAT WAS A DIFFERENT SITUATION ! And at least I was on theme ! ❞  And she didn’t have to pay for it, either, thanks to a certain ex-sensei who shall not be named playing prom sugar daddy for the night. Tory still has the dress; couldn’t exactly return it after everything that happened, but it wouldn’t fit in at the country club. But it’s not like she can just go drop some cash on something else right now. This is short notice, and it would take a lot more time for her to make sure that splurging on something fancy wouldn’t completely blow her budget for the next month. Hence why she’s turned to Sam.  ❝ That one doesn’t have enough leg room, and I hate that shade of purple on the other one.  Pass , ❞  Tory points at the dresses in Sam’s hands.          he knows they’ve had little in the way of interaction .   in fact ,     to be completely fair ,    he barely knows a thing about her ——- other than the fact she was impressive when she’d first walked into his dojo .    & she’d kept that up ,    too .    yet he can’t help but feel guilty when he looks at her .     like he’s let her down .              to be honest ,    leaving anyone stuck with kreese feels like letting them down .

          IT’S A SHAME. SHE HAD ACTUALLY LIKED HIM AS A SENSEI.  He didn’t take bullshit, and he pushed them all to their limits to try to get the best out of them. That was always clear to her. It’s what drew her to Cobra Kai. What he had offered in his dojo, whether he realized it or not, was a chance for someone like her to feel like she had control over her life again. But then he kept leaving. Then it was more Kreese than him. His absence, it made it easy to question if he cared the way that Kreese did. Sensei Kreese wanted them to be strong. Johnny encouraged mercy. Mercy is a weakness, and weakness is what got Miguel hurt.  ( Wasn’t it? )  If the world won’t show you mercy, does it really deserve any back?

           ❝ Go to your dojo just so you can walk out on all of us again? ❞  Spoken dryly, only the slightest bite injected into her words. Johnny’s far from the first person to let her down.  Won’t be the last.  Doesn’t mean that it doesn’t still hurt a little.  And maybe that hurt cuts through her voice more than she would like.   ❝ I have a dojo, and my dojo has a sensei who actually shows up for his students. “I’M   NOT   SURE   DANGLING   OVER   A   CLIFF   IS   CONSIDERED   FUN.“   Though,   mind   you,   at   her   age,   he   probably   thought   the   same   thing,   considering   he   did   dangled   from   it   with   Jessica   before   Mike   Barnes   showed   up   to   give   him   the   scare   of   his   life.   He   is   wrapping   the   security   meassures   around   his   waist,   handing   her   similar   ones   to   do   the   same.   “Yeah,   uh,   my   friend   Jessica,   she   used   to   climb   all   the   time   so   she   show   me   the   ropes,   metaphorically   and   literally.   And   then   Mr.   Miyagi,   of   course.“   It’s   not   the   best   episode   in   his   life   really.   1985   was   a   heavy   year,   both   the   best   and   the   worst   he   can   remember,   only   topped   by   the   day   he   was   saw   his   father   (   both   of   them   )      dying.   “Yeah,   It   was   the   bonsai   Mr.   Miyagi   brought   with   him   when   he   moved   from   Okinawa   to   here.   Only   thing   he   brought.   He   trusted   it   with   me.“   After   breaking   that   trust,   it   felt   special.   A   symbol   of   who   he   is,   and   his   journey.   “When   he   died,   I   took   the   bonsai   tree   with   me   and   Mr.   Sato,   Miyagi’s   best   friend   gifted   me   a   new   one   to   plant   in   his   honor.   That’s   the   one   down   there.“   He   is   just   there   to   check   on   it,   care   for   it.   Wild   bonsai   trees   are   rare,   and   the   best   way   to   take   care   of   it   was   leaving   it   in   the   while.   Every   few   months,   he   just   goes   down   there   to   take   care   of   it.   “Been   neglecting   it   for   a   while.   It’s   time   to   make   sure   that   little   one   grows   healthy.“

          IT IS FUN TO TORY.  DANGEROUS AS HELL ,  YES ,  BUT FUN.  Then again, she’s always been a little bit of an adrenaline junkie. At the very least, the rush of trying something new is enough to entice her in spite of all of Daniel’s warnings.  ❝ I don’t remember you mentioning Jessica much. ❞  When it comes to Mr. Larusso’s stories, most of what he’s shared with her came from before that period of time, from what she understands. As she’s gotten to know her sensei, she’s become more familiar with the shift in how he talks about things that happened after he and Miyagi returned from Okinawa versus the things that happened before then.  Not that she doesn’t understand why he doesn’t talk about it much.  The things he has told her about that year? About Silver and some of the vile things that he and Barnes and Kreese did to him? It’s all horrific, and she’s only gotten bits and pieces. Fragments of a puzzle that can only be solved by Daniel himself. Maybe Jessica is a sore topic as well, or maybe she’s a bright spot in those memories; Tory doesn’t know. She has no way of knowing how much he truly lost back then.  ❝ Looks like he was right to trust you with it, considering it’s still growing strong after all this time. Even if it might have been broken before. ❞  She’ll never forget the story he told her about that bonsai. How he used it to show her that she, too, could put herself back together, even when she thought she was past the point of no return. Something she reminds herself of every time she looks at the yellow lotus hachimaki he gave her for her birthday. One of the few precious things she owns. Tory takes the second set of ropes from the bag and begins to fasten the safety harness around herself, though there is a mild struggle, so she turns to Daniel.  ❝ Am I doing this right? ❞

hopefully I’ll get to do things today but also I don’t feel great in the physical sense. I woke up sick in the middle of the night and my sinuses refuse to chill and it’s still shark week so my body is just having a meltdown right now I guess lol
