Jason Todd x gn! Reader - Like him a lot
A/n: I think I've officially decided that all these fics are linked so far, and I've decided that you met Jason as red hood first in this timeline, so that will probably be what the next fic for him will be about!
Request: I loved your fic with Jason! Can you do one with them in the beginning of their relationship where they are both so awkward
Warnings: Swearing, awkwardness, some anxious thoughts, second hand embarrassment omg (it's so bad,) cringy asf, I think that's it? You have been warned!
The three P's:
[Pronouns used: You/you] [Pov: 2nd person] [Pairings: (romantic!) Jason x reader]
Tumblr media
"No mom, it's just a couple of dates I-" You sigh as your mother blabbers on and on over the phone about how you and Jason are destined to be together and everything else in between.
"Mom I don't know if he wants to be in a relationship right now, but just to appease your undying curiosity." You said "curiosity" with air quotes even if she couldn't see them. "I do like him." You go quiet for a second and your voice turns soft. "I like him a lot."
Out of the corner of your eye you saw Jason coming through as he turned his head to find you and as his eyes landed on your figure he waved at you. Though he clearly looked happy to see you and his happiness just seemed infectious.
You liked Jason, you liked him a lot more than you should for someone you didn't know two months ago. You didn't want to screw this up, you really didn't.
"I have to go mom he's here! Love you, bye." You quickly hang up excitement clear in your voice. (But also so she couldn't go on one of her rants.)
Although Jason doesn't come over right away but he doesn't look away from you and you two are kinda just in some weird smiling contest.
Gesturing your hands to motion him over to you he blinks a couple of times before scurrying over to you, neck a little red.
"Sorry I just didn't know-"
You cut his gruff embarrassed response off with a giggle and a shake of your head.
"It's fine I probably wasn't helping."
The coffee date goes pretty well as you two talk about some books, and this new tv show that came out not to long ago. At some point you guys had decided to ditch the coffee place and start heading out as it was getting dark. While you walked the long (really it was the biggest detour ever) to get to your apartment complex you looked down at his hand.
You felt those stupid butterflies in your stomach and you fidgeted with your own hands. Why were you so nervous about holding hands, why did he make you feel like everything you did was incredible? But what if he thought holding hands was for someone who was in a relationship? What if your hands were sweaty and he thought that was weird?
Yet that feeling of being on cloud nine wouldn't leave you, and you wanted to hold his hand despite the nervousness to do so. So without thinking further on it you just jumped right in.
Like an idiot.
You grabbed his hand like you were a frat boy snatching a can of beer, plus you didn't know where to put your fingers. It was a nightmare.
But Jason judge you or give you a strange look, instead he laughed and brought your other hand in his and spun you around.
Eventually you got to your apartment, hands held, and now you were standing at the door of it, just staring at each other trying to figure out what to do now.
You go to open your mouth but a person comes from behind you knocking you forward right into his arms.
"Oh, my god!" You gasped, and quickly backed away from Jason. "I am so sorry!"
The person swiftly leaves to try an avoid whatever the hell was happening between you and Jason. You almost wanted to cry at the prick to take you with them because of all the embarrassment flowing through your veins.
"Not your fault, that person was just being a dick." He shrugs his shoulders, not even blaming you for not paying attention to your surroundings.
You weren't sure if it was possible to like a person so much when you haven't even known them for half a year! But Jason's leather jackets, cool guy persona, while being the biggest softie you had ever met had won you over. You knew you were in complete and utter infatuation with this man.
"I was going to ask you if you wanted to come in." You whispered gazing at him with almost wide eyes. "But I know you're busy and you'll have to leave soon."
Jason presses his lips together before nodding sadly and letting his head fall open to the sky.
"Can I kiss you?" He mumbles nearly offhandedly and his eyes widen immediately after he asked you indicating that he really hadn't meant to say that.
"Not that you have to or anything!" He chuckles nervously. "Obviously! And this is only a date-"
You shut him up with your lips and yes it's pretty fucking awkward at first because you did just launch yourself at him. Yet you two get the hang of it and suddenly it's the best thing you've ever experienced and you want more.
Somehow you ended up making out with Jason Todd in front of your apartment complex without thinking about who could just walk by and see.
When you pull away your body is right up against his and you hands were cupping his cheeks to deepen the kiss and his on your waist.
He gazes at you through half-lidded eyes and in that moment you don't care if anyone could see you, you wanted to kiss him again.
So you did, you kissed him again, and again, and again, although it probably looked like you were a pair of horny teenagers to any passerby you didn't care. You loved that he brought out that part of you that didn't need others opinion's on things when they aren't needed for.
When you pull away for real this time your foreheads are touching as you both try and catch your breaths.
"I have to go." He mutters.
You sigh and take a step back. "I know, see you..." You trail off having no idea when you'll see him next.
"Tomorrow, same time if that works for you?"
You grin as you nod and slowly open the door to your apartment.
"See you Jay!"
When you close the door you can't help but lay your head back on it and laugh in joy.
Ya, you like him a lot.

Chapter 21: A Million Years Ago | ao3 - wattpad
When you wake up, Jason’s already gearing up. Roy's apparently side-lined alongside you.
“I know we said we didn’t want to involve you,” Jason slips on his domino mask before facing you. It’s still so early and you’re still so horny after last night that all your comic book fantasies smack into you at full force. You gulp lightly as you force yourself to focus back in on what he’s saying. “But it’s clear you’re already involved and we need your expertise,” Jason stops so Roy can pick up where he left off.
Tumblr media
Roy walks over to you with his laptop, showing you the ongoing case file he has, “We need your help hacking back into the organization. This time, we’ll be more prepared.”
“Anything I’m looking for in particular?” You feign ignorance, hoping they’ll buy it.
There’s an uncomfortable, worm-like feeling going on in your stomach with the way they wholeheartedly accept your lie. You’re not one to lie, but damn, are you doing a lot of it recently. It’s not like you and you can’t wait to get your parents out of the picture so you won’t have to anymore.
“We need to know the scope of the organization.”
Great.
“Names,” You supply, feeling dread pool in your stomach. “You want names.”
You want to protect yourself while also protecting their family- now, as they’ve put it, your family. Are you truly willing, even able, to give up your blood for your found family if it comes down to it?
You know they’re going to find out, so if push comes to shove, will you really be able to follow through with your decision? Better yet, will you be able to live with your decision?
“We know you gave us the two main ones, but shit like this always goes deeper,” Roy shrugs like you already know and, boy, do you fucking know. “We just need to know what we’re up against before we go making any more big moves. This time, just be a bit more careful with the tracking,” Roy jokes, but you wince.
“She’s more than capable, Harper,” Damian tuts, coming to your rescue. He walks out of his room, shirtless and into the kitchen. The chiseled man throws the soggy towel he’d been drying off with onto the back of Jason’s chair, only to immediately be whipped by the aforementioned towel. “Fuck you, Todd.”
“Fuck did you disappear off to for an hour, demon fuck?”
“Some of us shower, swamp ass,” Damian spits right back.
They wrestle over the towel for a bit until Roy eventually gets up to ‘referee.’
You roll your eyes, knowing he hadn’t just showered but had also just finished his meticulous skin regimen, “You still have a 30-minute face routine?”
“You still ask dumb questions?” He immediately whips around to sneer at you, causing an easy laugh to erupt.
You miss bantering with Damian like this. Like old times.  Like the only thing wrong was your dumb algebra homework due Monday.
Now…
You distract Damian well enough that Jason wins the tug-of-war. He growls when Jason gets another hit on him and makes to hit him with a closed fist until Roy rips the panting idiots away from each other.
“Put a shirt on, Wayne,” Jason spits as he sits back down, rubbing at his cheek that Damian had scratched.
The tanned man smiles with wicked glee at the remnants of his attack, “Tower’s got my name on it. I think I’ll remain comfortably shirtless in my penthouse.”
Damian saunters over to the chair across from you and uncharacteristically spreads himself out as if he’s tanning under the LED chandelier.
“More like daddy’s tower,” Jason and Roy snicker to themselves, but you just roll your eyes.
As much as he still likes to pretend he’s not Bruce’s kid, you hope deep down he knows he is. Hell, if he didn’t consider himself a part of the family, how could you? Your stomach sinks at the very thought.
“Perhaps,” Damian smirks, “but it is my penthouse, nonetheless. From what I recall of your subpar abode, this whole situation should be considered a once-in-a-lifetime upgrade for you, Todd.”
“Yeah, you inbred brat?” Jason makes to get up, but a quick, reactionary hand on his thigh from you stops him right in his tracks.
He looks at you in confusion, calming almost immediately at the contact.
You use it as an opportunity to stop Damian while he’s ahead. Lord knows when the dude gets going, he gets going. And Jason? Jason’s problem isn’t getting going. No, Jason’s problem is stopping once he reaches the point of no return.
Definitely a clash to prevent, though Roy seems mildly amused by it all, you note with exasperation. Is he wanting to break up more petty fights or get on with the fucking mission?
“Damian,” You chastise him with an unimpressed look, the one that tells him to cut it out or risk sincerely pissing you off. He knows this look well and backs off instantly.
You don’t know what’s pissing Jason and Roy off more: Damian being shirtless and showing off or him obeying you just like that. No, you know it’s the latter based on the seething looks they’re shooting at his impish smile.
“I just came back out here to ask if Roy needs a babysitter for tonight.”
Roy’s eyes narrow, turning to Damian with a deadly seriousness that throws the tanned man off for a brief moment, “I’ll be fine taking care of my family on my own.”
He’s so busy staring Damian down he doesn’t see the hesitation in Jason’s eyes. You, yourself, would also appreciate Damian skipping patrol to keep an eye on everyone while Jason tracked down the lead.
You open your mouth to vouch for Damian staying, but Jason beats you to it. Regardless of their tiffs, they’re brothers and they still have to look out for each other.
“Some extra help might be nice with your injury,” He gives his boyfriend a wary glance, “Just thinking of Lian.” He adds, instantly regretting it when Roy’s face sours.
“You don’t think I’m thinking of our daughter?”
“That’s not what I said!” Jason insists and turns to you for support. You feel like a deer in the headlights as everyone’s eyes fall on you, looking to you as some sort of fucked up mediator for the whole debacle. “Roy, just think about it. You’ll both be injured, sitting here like, well, sitting ducks.”
Roy’s been, understandably, tense since the garage run-in and here comes yet another opportunity for shit to hit the fan with the people he cares about.
Everyone’s patience has been tested throughout this whole ordeal. With so much more adversity ahead, it’s easy to lose hope and give in to frustration.
Everyone’s at their wits ends after so many run-ins that had the potential to be deadly. You’re all extremely lucky a few stab wounds are the only injuries you’ve acquired or, more reasonably, that you’re all still very much alive somehow.
You don’t want to provoke him further, nor do you want him to get the idea you’re all trying to undermine him, but, yeah, Damian should stay. It’s obvious that Roy’s pride is the only thing that's standing in the way.
“I trust Roy knows what he’s doing,” Is what you end up saying.
His verdant eyes flash an emotion you can’t quite place as he takes you in. It’s over as soon as it begins and soon after, he uncrosses his arms, “We need info on the bomb and we need an eye on Cheshire's whereabouts. You both need to be out there more than you need to be here.” He looks between Jason and Damian expectantly, “Soo, take a hint and hit the road, Boy Wonder.”
Though he detests the nickname, Damian leaves at the same time Jason does. Damian takes off after Cheshire while Jason goes back to investigating the bomb manufacturer.
Once Lian’s attention leaves Titus, she easily becomes preoccupied with her toys in her room. Meanwhile, Roy rearranges Damian's living room into a makeshift pillow fort. There's even a pile of snacks all set out for you by the time you’re finished changing out of what you’d slept in.
“Thanks for having my back earlier. It means a lot,” He says, though he’s still focused on the laptop in his lap.
You have to use one of Damian’s spares, considering your laptop is completely traceable after your dumb move.
You shrug, “I have faith in you. I know you wouldn’t put your two favorite girls in danger.” You wink at him and nearly startle when he blushes. You nudge him playfully, “Don’t tell me you’re getting all soft on me now, Harper.”
His usual charm is back on at full force.
Whether it’s forced or not, you don’t have the energy to figure it out. All your attention is focused on what exactly Roy will be here to find out with you in the upcoming minutes. This time, there’s no lying to be done. No, there’s no way to hide anything when he’ll be right next to you reading the screen at the same time you are.
He winks with a wolfish smirk, “I’d never get soft on you, princess. I promise.” He waggles his eyebrows obnoxiously, leaving you to smack his shoulder playfully.
Bending down, you sit next to him in the mess of feather pillows Damian seems to keep everywhere. You pull Lian’s fluffy Superman blanket onto your lap and peek over to see how far he’s gotten into editing your program. He still has some ways to go, so you lean your head on his shoulder, reveling in the calmness before shit presumably hits the fan.
It always does.
“You’ve got a solid build so far, just a few tweaks,” His brows are knit together in concentration as his fingers fly across the keyboard.
“Gee, where was this level of dedication when you made me do your homework for you? Now you’re sitting here giving me shit during some fucked up version of a code review?” You tease, hating how perfect his smirk is.
You notice how he watches you through the glare of the screen when you nestle into his neck and barely withhold your blush.
“Precisely,” He snorts and uses his prosthetic hand to flick you on the nose. You grin and chase after his retreating arm, pretending to bite at it. He merely uses his finger to tilt your chin up and takes in your bewildered eyes, “Y’know, this shit’s gonna take another couple of minutes.”
You gulp under his imploring gaze. His voice, already deep, deepens into a syrupy rasp that leaves you captivated by its coarse, hypnotic rumble.
“Oh?”
You mentally berate yourself for such a dumb response.
This is Roy, the absolute dumbass you’ve always known him to be and yet he still manages to catch you off guard.
He seems to be thinking the same thing because his smirk only widens, “I am, of course, talking about a pillow fight, princess.”
You don’t have time to take in his words before a pillow’s barreling smack in your face- NOT lightly, mind you.
“Roy!” You move to grab a pillow, but he smacks you again, sending feathers up into the air like a plume of smoke.
You blindly grab in front of you, only to retract your hand with lightning speed when Roy moans.
You’re hoping he’ll let your mistake go unnoticed, but, of course, he doesn’t. How could he when you just grabbed for his fucking dick??
“You’re dirty, you know that?” He corals your still shocked form into the corner of the pillow fort, “All I wanted to do was have some innocent fun and here you are groping me like some kind of slut.” You gasp, feeling yourself react to the name in more ways than one. He parts your thighs with his sinful, freckled hands and you easily comply. “Tell me,” He says your name like an oath, “are you a slut?”
Your mouth is open wide, completely stupefied by the recent developments.
They definitely didn’t teach you about any of this in your coding courses, that’s for fucking sure.
The tent in his sweatpants twitches and you gulp when he purposefully does it again for you. It’s at this moment that the laptop beeps, signaling the program’s readiness. You use Roy’s distracted state to destroy half the pillow fort as you scramble around him just in time to stop the server from pulling up any documents.
Roy’s on you in mere seconds.
“I-” You let him take the laptop from you as you trail off, focusing on the files loading onto the screen.
“What are you doing?” He tilts his head curiously before stating the obvious, “It’s working.” More and more files fill the screen, proving that, yes, it’s doing what you'd coded it to do.
“Yup, it’s working.”
Great.
He mistakes your tone for something else and tilts the laptop towards you just in time for you to see your name pulled up on a document.
“You did a really good job. I’m impressed,” He commends you. “And you are speaking to a fellow tech genius, by the way, princess.”
Your eyes widen at the document he’s yet to see. You look back at Roy, hoping to cover your reaction up so he doesn’t look back down at the screen.
“That means a lot, Roy,” You force a smile and, in the spur of the moment, pull him in for a hug as an old picture of your family crossing a street somewhere covers the screen. “Really,” You squeeze him when he tries to pull back after a few seconds.
“Woah,” He snorts. “Called you a slut and now you can’t keep your hands off of me? Nice.” You feel him nodding to himself on your shoulder.
You can hardly focus on him, though, as pictures of syringes and test subjects flash across the screen. Your stomach is in knots and your head spins into a flurry of half-assed plans on how to stop the program before Roy can see… see…
Your heart races cold with adrenaline as your hands draw Roy’s, diverting his attention back to your face in a last-ditch effort to prevent him from seeing… your college ID photo from a year ago??? Your eyebrows knit together in confusion at the sight, something that Roy catches and threatens his gaze downward.
With the confusion on your face still clear as day, you’re desperate.
“Kiss me,” His searching eyes flick up before he can see the screen to meet your panicked ones.
He sputters, “Are you feeling alright?” He places the back of his hand on your head as if to check your temperature, “Don’t tell me you’re not still up to do some nerdy hacking shit, beautiful?”
The crisis has been averted for now, but how much longer will you be able to stave him off? You know the answer is: not very long.
He goes to turn his head to the screen, but you pull it back to you, “Yeah,” You nod and his brows knit in confusion, “I mean, no, I’m not.  Maybe we should just wait until Jay gets back.”
He shakes his head, “But you said-”
“I know what I said!” You’re becoming increasingly panicked and it’s becoming increasingly harder to hide. You quiet your voice back down to a normal level. “I just mean,” You sigh, looking away from him, “I think something might happen."
You gulp, hoping he won’t press further, but knowing Roy, he isn’t just going to let it slide.
“Lian would love someone to play with if you need me to take over,” He puts a gentle hand on your thigh that you follow until he glances down, too. You quickly lift your eyes and lift his head from the direction of the laptop to face you again. “If it makes you feel any better, I won’t tell Jay you chickened out,” He says your name with a wink.
God, why’s he so understanding?
Hopefully, that can still be said after what you’re about to do.
“Sure,” You drawl, thinking of your next move. He can’t see that screen. He pats your thigh and goes to move away, but your hand traps his, “Roy, please.” You plead.
If only he’d just leave this alone.
“Now you’re begging me?” He bites his lower lip, “You’re doin’ things to me, princess.” You sigh, realizing the moment you’d feared earlier has finally arrived. He takes in your distracted, seemingly sad state with confusion. “You good, baby?”
“No,” You say finally.
It’s the truth.
He immediately drops his frat boy facade to comfort you.
“Let me take over,” He rubs your shoulder and looks down at the laptop in his lap, where Joker’s face is smacked in the middle of an invoice of some sort. “Seeing all this must bring up a lot of old scars,” His eyes inadvertently flicker to your neck. “I know this can’t be easy for you.”
“Oh,” You lament with a bitter laugh, “you have no idea.”
“Well,” He ruffles your hair, “I’ve got your back, sexy. Sexy back. Bringing it?” His eyes cross and you know he’s just saying random shit to make you laugh, but it only makes you feel worse for what you’re about to do.
You give a half-hearted chuckle that doesn’t quite reach your eyes.
There’s no more time to waste.
“Just let me do one more thing,” You pluck the computer from him before he can protest.
You switch around files at random, opening multiple you don’t need to in the process to cover up the file with your last name plastered all over it. In the process, you end up making the same rookie mistake you’d made in the garage. This time, though, somewhat on purpose.
The headquarters location blinks on the map somewhere east of the blinking dot that represents Damian’s apartment. Upon closer inspection, you see it’s right by the docks.
“What are you doing?!” Roy grabs the laptop out of your hands and, in a panic, you snatch it back with a scared look before he can see the extent of the damage. “What’s going on with you? You’re going to give away our location if you haven’t fucking done it-”
“Dad,” Lian peaks under the pillow fort and tugs at Roy’s metallic fingers. You both stop your quarreling and look at her with wild eyes, calming immediately when she shoots you both a questioning head tilt. “I’m ready for my story.”
Roy exhales. The chaos in the room quiets with it.
“Lian, baby,” Roy sighs, rubbing his hands down his face tiredly.
He momentarily forgets about the laptop long enough for you to get ahold of it again and close out of the file, but not before seeing a new name- Sionis Industries.
That’s odd.
You pull this file up and enlarge it on the screen while Roy lectures Lian about ‘interrupting dad during his work.’
When he’s done, he turns to you with a sigh.
“I’m sorry,” You say instantly. You really are.
“Yeah,” He sounds gruff as he nods with pursed lips. “Let’s just hope Damian’s got an eye on Cheshire,” Lian giggles, though you personally feel sick to your stomach at her mother’s name. “Come on, etai yazi. Let’s get you to bed,” He throws his phone your way and you catch it easily, albeit confused. “Text Jay the new address.”
You don’t know how Roy’s able to keep his cool like this when you’ve completely blown your cover- again.
You text Jason the HQ address, along with the info on Sionis Industries, while Roy scurries Lian off into the other room.
You roll your neck, feeling the weight of eyes on you, then snort, realizing how paranoid you sound. If someone was going to strike, based on Cheshire’s rapid response time the day before, they’d have already made their move.
Out of the corner of your eye, you notice Lian’s favorite dinosaur plushie on the ground and bend down to pick it up. At this exact moment, a bullet pierces the wall behind where your head had just been.
Your eyes blink owlishly down at the toy before your body takes over.
A barrage of bullets scatter your way and you’re forced to roll behind the kitchen island to gain some sort of barrier.
At the sound of shattering glass and, you know, bullets, Roy runs into the room, bionic arm drawn in preparation, “STAY DOWN!”
He calls out your name somewhere in the chaos, but you’re already ducking. You roll across the floor out of the way as another round of bullets is spat at you through the skyline-facing window.
It’s quiet for a beat. It’s too long for the assailant to be reloading.
Roy scurries in a crouch over to you, arm still at the ready.
Once he’s within reach, you waste no time in throwing your arms around him, “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry,” You’re shaking.
“It’s not over yet,” He puts a loose arm around you and squeezes. “Stay alert; keep them away from Lian. Use the bracelet.”
You nod, feeling your head fog with the overwhelming adrenaline coursing through your veins as you click the SOS button.
Both your heads snap up at the sound of gleeful whistling.
Roy places a finger to his lips, eyes filled with warning.
A deep chuckle- a man.
“Anyone home?” Roy’s eyes shoot open, seeming to recognize the drawling voice instantly. “I’m a man with a schedule,” You hear him shuffling furniture around. “Let me rephrase that; I’m a man who intends to keep his schedule.” A breath, “Strictly.”
The heavy boots come to a halt in front of the island. You watch Roy’s hand twitch as he contemplates his next move. He nods to himself, then looks over at you before slowly standing with his hands up. You follow his muscular form as he moves around the corner, keeping his eyes strictly on the man in front of him.
“Deadshot,” Roy says once he fully stands.
“Arsenal,” Deadshot responds with the same bored greeting. “Give her up and there will be no fight,” They seem to be sizing each other up. “You know I’d never hurt your girl, Arsenal.” He sounds genuine enough that you feel some relief. At least Lian’ll be safe from your selfish move. “Only one needs to die.”
As if that’s any comfort to Roy.
“I,” Roy trails off and you realize he’s stalling until Jason can get back here. Roy sighs, “See, that’s the problem. That woman you’re after? She’s my girl too.”
They must be looking at each other or something because there’s another beat of silence.
“You know what I meant,” It’s almost as if Deadshot’s pleading with Roy like he doesn’t actually want to kill you. “Don’t make this any harder than it has to be. You know it’s just a job.”
“You and Hood have a pact!” Roy tries.
A pause, “And?” His hoarse laugh would probably be considered sexy if it weren’t for the fact that, you know, the dude’s currently trying to put a bullet through your skull. “Does it look like he’s here right now? Even if he was, what good would it do? I’ve got a contract,” He restates purposefully.
“Please,” Roy continues to reason with him. “Your contract, that woman, she’s his,” Roy trails off, seemingly remembering that you’re not even five feet away. Even in the heat of the moment, you can’t help but quirk a brow. Just what exactly are you to Jason? “If we just wait until he gets here, we can sort it all out.”
“You know I can’t do that. I’ve got to provide for my girl.” Based on the small shuffles and scuffs from Deadshot’s boots, you can tell that they’re moving around now. “Don’t forget that when I do the unforgivable; inevitable but still unforgivable, it’s not coming from a place of malice. I trust you’ll forgive me someday,” He tuts at Roy’s lack of response before moving to address you. “Stand.”
When you don’t, he shoots a warning shot at the fridge directly in front of where you’re facing.
Your heart’s beating loud as you stare at the bullet hole that tore through your blurred reflection on the stainless steel.
“You’re on thin fucking ice,” Roy spits. “Contract or not, you’re fucking with Red Hood’s territory,” His voice is absolute venom. “I reckon that’s a pretty pricey gamble. Maybe even pricier than that contract of yours. Give me information, let her go and I won’t mention a thing to my partner.”
“Territory? Please,” He snorts, “ do you really take me for a fool? I think you forget who has the power right now, Arsenal,” He shifts and his voice addresses you again. “I believe I told you to stand.”
Your usual quick mouth is uncharacteristically quiet as you search for what to do.
You decide it might just be best to give in and do what he says.
At the last second, you second-guess yourself and lift up one of your slippers instead. It’s shot through in the blink of an eye and you’re left slack-jawed over the fact that if you’d gotten up like you’d planned to, you’d now be headless.
“Please,” You beg, praying to whatever gods out there that he’ll be out of bullets or something.
The man makes a pleased hum upon hearing your pleading voice. “I’m not usually some masochistic asshole, but darling,” His voice deepens. When you look up, you see him peering over the island at you with his one good eye, “I don’t think I mind a beautiful woman like you begging me like this.” You shiver, not out of attraction but disgust. His eyes remain on yours through the reflection as if he were a predator eyeing up his prey, “I won’t ask again.”
You have no choice now but to stand and face the judge, jury and executioner, otherwise known as Deadshot. The mercenary you’d only ever seen in comics is not only very much real but he also poses a very real threat.
Deadshot almost kills you again when you stand, but Roy’s already prepared for the predictable shot. The redhead tackles him to the ground, but not before getting point-blank pistol-whipped.
It’s not funny, like, at all.
It really isn’t with the intensity of the moment. This being said, you can’t help a small snort from escaping, much to Roy’s chagrin.
The gun clatters to the ground and, in their tussle, you use their distracted state to grab it.
You stare down at the Glock with wide eyes for a fraction of a second before stowing the gun in the lower kitchen cabinets. This is definitely a weapon you don’t want used against you.
The sounds of their struggles pound against your eardrums, beating in tandem with your rapid pulse.
You know you need to help Roy get the upper hand, but at the same time, you don’t want to become a casualty while trying to intervene. Your feet remain glued to the ground, stuck in the muck of your own indecision.
Roy’s sluggishly countering Deadshot’s strikes and his breathing is audibly already heavy after the head injury he’s been dealt. Coupled with his previous injuries from Cheshire yesterday, you know he’s not anywhere near his peak condition to fight.
Another hard strike to the same spot on Roy’s head and he’s out.
“Now, now,” The mercenary saunters towards you in an almost cat-like nature. “Where were we, doll?” Your breath catches in your throat as you allow him to advance on you until you’re completely backed against the cold metal of the fridge. “Such a shame I have to kill you,” He takes in your wild, innocent eyes with a cocky smirk. “Really,” He murmurs as the back of his gloved hand glides slowly against your cheek. You wince at the gentle touch and attempt to push him away, but it’s in vain. He laughs and moves his face in closer, “Any last words, beautiful?”
You squirm under his unforgiving hold as he abruptly pins your wrists against the fridge. You wince at the contact and draw your knees up to 1: to protect your wound and 2: to fuck him up with your dead weight. However, your weight doesn’t seem to deter him in the slightest. The mercenary hardly falters as he adjusts his grip on you, only to slam you into the fridge again, causing your feet to drop to the floor.
“Roy!” You cry out, searching for him desperately.
Roy, somewhat dazed after coming to, stumbles toward the mercenary from behind.
Your feet aren’t on the ground for long before he picks you back up by your neck, noticing the blood seeping through the stomach of your shirt. He eyes the crimson curiously, “Don’t tell me I wasn’t the one to pop your mercenary cherry, doll,” He uses his gun to lift up your shirt, inhaling over dramatically as your festering wound’s exposed to the cold air that spills in from the shattered windows. “Well, now. That’d put a damper on anyone’s party now, wouldn’t it?” He continues to lift up your shirt while you continue to struggle. “Tell me to stop and I will, gorgeous.”
Your tongue is caught in your throat as the tip of his pokes out to lick greedily at his lips.
“Hey!” Roy tugs him back by the nape of his uniform, arm at the ready to release a sucker punch on him with his prosthetic. “Stop flirting with my,” Roy hesitates in the heat of the moment. “Well, I don’t know yet, but she’s mine,” The last word comes out as a hiss as Roy brings down his fist across Deadshot’s face savagely.
You drop to the floor and scurry right into… Your eyes lift from the familiar combat boots to an even more familiar red helmet- Red Hood.
You gasp and fall backward, looking up at him with startled eyes.
He regards you on the floor briefly before turning his attention to the main quarrel.
“Lawton,” Red Hood’s modulated voice cuts through the quiet.
You turn around on the floor to see Roy holding Deadshot by the front of his shirt, arm frozen as it’s poised to release.
Deadshot holds up his hands in surrender, still within Roy’s grip, “Hood.”
Roy lets him drop to the floor, though he gets up milliseconds after touching the ground, wiping off imaginary dust from his suit in the process.
“Robin’s on the way,” Every loud step he takes makes a purposeful, resounding impact in the room. He meets Deadshot face to face and, you notice that, although Jason’s form is much stockier, Deadshot has at least a half inch on him, if not a bit more. “In the meantime, you’re going to tell me about this contract of yours,” A moment passes as Jason steadies his gun. “Who are you working for?”
Deadshot holds up his hands in surrender again, “Can’t you just let me off with a nice spanking and we can call it even?” There’s a clicking noise as Jason switches the safety off. “You used to be so much more fun when you weren’t shackled down, Hood,” He winks and you feel a rush of jealousy in your stomach, noticing Roy’s very much in the same boat.
“I don’t have time for your games, Lawton,” His warbled voice drawls monotonously as he cocks the gun.
A beat passes as Deadshot seems to come to terms with the situation, “Fine.” He sighs. “Just put the fucking Glock down, would ya?” He mutters something about it being sacrilege to be killed with such a basic gun. “As far as I know, there’re four groups of people in charge of this, I don’t know, account of some kind. They've all been funneling money into it.” Roy looks confused, but Red Hood remains firm, coaxing him for more information.
“Names,” Jason demands dully.
Deadshot scratches at his mask, “Gee, can’t seem to remember.”
“No?” Jason tilts his head menacingly, steadying his gun before you can finish exhaling, “Maybe this’ll jog your memory."
Deadshot groans, feeling himself being cornered.
You’re right in front of the open door, thinking the danger is under control, when a cold sharpness stops your breathing in its tracks. A quick glance around the room proves this assailant’s gone unnoticed.
“Hello again, rabbit,” Cheshire’s familiar, eerie voice shushes you. “Wouldn’t want to spoil the surprise, now would we?”
Meanwhile, Deadshot begins to list off contacts.
“Joker, Two Face,” He trails off with a slight smirk, “chick’s parents.” He laughs, “And here I was thinking I’m giving my kid issues,” He nudges Roy playfully, but Roy shakes off his touch with visible contempt.
At the mention of your parents, three sets of eyes land on you. The three men startle when they find you being held at knifepoint.
Cheshire has you captive with a knife, just as the Joker had done all those years ago. Even through Jason’s helmet, you can see him thinking the same thing. You know he’d tell you to stay calm, so you attempt to follow his non-verbal advice, though it’s easier said than done.
Cheshire’s musically cruel laugh chimes gratingly against your ear, “Oh, but she already knows. Don’t you, rabbit?” You can practically hear her beaming behind her mask as she unveils you to be the liar you truly are. “She knows all about the little organization they’ve built around her, but I didn’t realize she’d kept it from everyone.” Her head snakes from behind you to sneer at the side of your face, though you refuse to look at her. No, you’re more focused on the crumbling ruins of the family you’ve injected yourself into, watching as it's destroyed right in front of your very eyes. “Now, be a doll and fill them in on your little scheme.”
You can't see it, but you know Jason’s calculated eyes are on you from underneath his helmet.
“I,” Your voice catches in your throat. You try to swallow it down and regret it instantly when it burns with a sharp pain on the way down. “Why?” You grit your teeth, not understanding why she wants to see you fumble. Isn’t it just a contract to her?
You must’ve voiced the last part out loud because she chortles.
“At first, yes, but this is just starting to get juicy. I’ll collect my money after you’ve dug your grave.” She doesn’t seem to have any more patience for your resistance. “Tell them,” She hisses each word as a pointed threat, drawing the knife closer all the while.
You’re left with no choice.
“The other day in the garage,” Your eyes frantically search their eyes for understanding, but it ultimately reveals nothing. “I found out my parents were controlling the organization and I,” You wince, “I tried to hide it from you.” Your voice cracks as you look between the two men.
“Go on,” She’s enjoying this entirely too much. Surprisingly, Jason and Roy aren’t putting a stop to it as they wait for your next words. “You’re a part of it too, are you not? I’ve been calling you rabbit, but perhaps a more fitting name would be rat.”
“No!” You shout, wincing when the blade catches on your skin. “No, I’m not- I wasn’t- I didn’t!” Your brows knit together, hoping they believe you. “I didn’t know until yesterday, I swear!”
“She’s been a part of it since the beginning,” Cheshire tsks with exaggerated disapproval.
If you could, you’d shake your head no, but it’s not exactly a smart option at the moment.
Compared to Red Hood’s covered expression, Roy’s emotions are clear as day. You’re able to see the confusion, realization and then, eventually, anger smack across Roy’s face.
“You messed up earlier on… on purpose?” He looks like can’t believe it and, hey, maybe he can’t. It was a shitty, selfish, not to mention completely out-of-character thing for you to do. “You knew the whole time?”
Everyone’s eyes fall on you again.
“No, I swear,” You try to reason with him, but you’ve never seen this look on Roy’s face before, “Just yesterday. Please, you have to believe me-”
You’re about to tell them about all the trials and how, in this situation, if you were any type of rat, it’d be a lab rat, but he doesn’t give you the chance.
Roy cuts off your pleading monotonously, “Well, forgive me if I fucking don’t.”
“Oh, no,” Her fake caring voice is like nails on a chalkboard to you. All you want to do is go to sleep in between your boyfr- in between Jason and Roy. “Trouble in paradise?”
It’s an understatement, to say the least.
She wasn’t lying when she said she wanted to destroy your world before taking you down.
“Like you wouldn’t fucking believe,” You absentmindedly shake your head, regretting it instantly when blood spills from the knife in the process. You bite back a pained groan at the prickling sting from the blade and focus on an escape plan.
With Deadshot, you’d been too compliant.
Not this time.
You’ve beat this crazy bitch before and, all be damned, if you weren’t about to do it again.
No firepower, no car. This time, it’s just blades and fists.
It’s on.
You quickly step to the side, grabbing her lithe wrist in the process. You then yank down and body her to the ground, using her own weight against her. Between the slits in her mask, you see Cheshire’s startled eyes look back at you.
It’s then you know Cheshire remembers she’s fucked with the wrong one.
She’s slower than she had been on account of, you know, being forced under the grille of your car. Other than that, though, she seems completely untouched. It’s a little unnerving.
You don’t give her a chance to distract you enough to risk losing the upper hand, so you kick her square in the face with all your might. Her mask clatters to the ground with a hollowed bang that echos in tandem with her pained cry.
Now you’re better able to see the extent of the damage you’d dealt.
She’s sporting a large gash across her forehead and cheek. Her right eye and upper lip match, both being comedically puffed up and bruised, while the rest of the damage remains hidden under her uniform.
You land another kick. This time, upside the chin.
She blacks out for a few seconds before she flips up off the ground, wiping fruitlessly at the fountain of blood erupting from her mouth. The Asian woman rolls her neck before settling into a sparring stance that you match.
From across the room, the men finally take action and intervene, but not before the two of you can charge at each other. Upon clashing, your wound stirs sinisterly, but the sight of her blood only adds fuel to your fire.
You have no choice but to win.
Cheshire gets one good hit on you, but it’s all you need to unleash the same savage blow back at her.
It’s more satisfying having your knuckles come into contact with her bare skin as opposed to her dumb mask. You manage to lay a haymaker on her soft, tanned cheek. A wicked grin tugs at your mouth as you lay another one on the other cheek, moving her face from side to side with the raw power of your fists.
Cheshire clearly doesn’t care about whatever agreement they have going on with Deadshot and quickly overpowers you before you can land another hit.
Though it feels like minutes, your quarrel has been mere seconds.
The thinly veiled threat in her eyes is obvious as she looks from Roy to Red Hood, assuring them she’d kill you long before they’d be able to save you. Begrudgingly, they back off, thinking of the best way to intervene.
“You know, rabbit. I don’t like you,” You groan when she pounds into where she’d stabbed you the day before. She grabs for her mask, resecuring it before you can even blink. “In fact, I don’t like you at all,” Her head tilts menacingly before surveying the shocked inhabitants of the room. She chuckles, “This isn’t just a contract for me now. No, I’m going to take actual delight in killing you,” She tilts her mask up so you’re able to see her shark-like smile. “Every second of it.”
Roy calls your name. You waste no time rolling out of her grasp and jump out of the way just in time to miss one of Roy’s electric arrows. Cheshire, on the other hand? Yeah, not so much. She spasms erratically on the floor and you watch as the twitches become few and far between until she’s out like a light.
Robin, well, Damian, shows up a minute later. You watch as he takes in the tattered remains of his penthouse.
“I see you’ve found Cheshire.” No one says anything as Deadshot salutes before backflipping out of the shot-out window and into the night. “Alright,” Damian looks from you and the assassin on the ground, then over at his brother and Roy. “Belle Reve’s already expecting her. You guys should,” He trails off, seeming to remember Cheshire’s still very much present, “We’ll talk momentarily. We don’t want to risk anything,” He drags her body over his shoulder before approaching where Deadshot had just been to check that he was actually gone too. “I’m glad you’re safe,” He remains there for a few more seconds, taking you in before he jumps into the dark abyss of the Gotham night.
A gusty breeze blows in and sends the scattered glass shimmering across his Versace carpet. Aside from the bullet holes, it seems like the window was the only real casualty tonight.
Roy slinks over to sit on the kitchen counter and Jason follows easily. You, however, stay firmly planted where you are, feeling like an outsider to them again.
You shrink in on yourself as Jason busies himself by checking over Roy with a loving carefulness you’d been lavished with just last night. Upon your first step closer, their attention snaps to you, as if finally remembering that you’re still in the room.
Then, all hell breaks loose.
“So, you knew the whole time,” Jason rips off his helmet to tear into exactly what you’ve been trying to avoid. “Or, well, at least since the garage, right?” You nod and he scoffs. Meanwhile, Roy just looks away, “And you didn’t say shit to us and led us on a wild goose chase?”
You break down at everything, understanding their anger, but know that, now,  all you can do now is be apologetic. “I wanted to tell you both last night-”
“Yeah?” Jason cuts you off with a glare cold enough to freeze you in your tracks, “Before or after I told you everything?” His words sting, but you take it, knowing you deserve it. “You put all of us in danger, our family and for what? Your secret? You had to have known we’d figure it out at some point.”
You knew they would figure it out; you just didn’t think it’d be the next fucking day.
You feel like absolute shit.
“And with Lian in the room next door?” Roy continues right where Jason had left off. Though your parents have never berated you, you imagine this is pretty close to what it'd be like. “If it had been someone worse than Deadshot, Lian could’ve been seriously harmed,” Your eyes water and you want to yell back that you already fucking know. You want to scream that you feel like shit about it, but you don’t. You just take it. “You’re lucky you weren’t harmed with your shitty hacking.”
You sniffle, taking the insult. However, Jason seems to realize this is getting out of hand and places a calming hand on Roy’s shoulder, but it’s too late. Roy’s high on adrenaline and only getting started.
“I know,” You nod your head, electing to stare at the ground.
You’ve never seen Roy mad, let alone towards you, but you understand completely. You put the #1 girl in his life in harm's way and you’d never forgive yourself. You can’t imagine being in his shoes right now.
“I can’t,” Roy huffs in aggravation. “All I can think about is how you probably fucked up on purpose. Either that or you shouldn’t’ve rushed through your hacking classes like you did.”
In an ironic twist from earlier, it seems Jason’s the calm one while Roy only seems to be ramping up.
“First of all,” Jason finally comes to your defense, “She’s a programmer, Roy. A young one at that and I can almost guarantee she’s never been in a position where she’s had to hack on this caliber before.”
Roy cuts him off, sounding somewhat hysterical, “Then why did we leave Lian with her when the stakes were this high yesterday?”
Jason’s eyes flick from you to Roy like he hopes you know not to take too much of it to heart, but how can you not?
“Love,” Roy’s eyes shoot open and he looks at his boyfriend head-on, “How many times has she saved her?” Roy refuses to look at you until Jason steps closer to you. “Do you forget who she is to us?” Roy looks at you now with hurt spilling from his eyes. “I think it’s convenient that you forget you had every chance to take the hacking shit somewhere else, but you chose to do it here and told Damian to go on patrol.”
The coffee machine whirs to life, sending everyone on guard before falling limply again out of sheer exhaustion.
“I thought the two of us could,” Roy rubs at his face in irritation. You wished you’d never done the hacking, that the two of you should’ve just gone to bed and waited for Jason to get back. Now, you’re stuck dealing with this shitshow. Roy’s eyes visibly water and yours soon follow suit. He starts again, “I thought the two of us could handle it because I have faith in you.”
He said have, not had.
Maybe he’d misspoken?
“Even now?” Your voice wobbles as you ask for clarification you desperately need.
He nods tiredly, “Even now.”
At least it’s something.
Jason rubs at both of your shoulders now. He’s definitely come a long way from the person he was in high school and how he’s dealing with this situation proves it. If he’s changed, maybe you’ve changed too.
“We’ve all made mistakes. Especially me, especially Roy,” He shoots a pointed look Roy’s way, who looks away bashfully. “And, especially at your age.”
Roy had accused you of messing up on purpose the first time and it hasn’t been sitting right with you.
As everyone settles, you choose your words carefully.
“The first time was an honest mistake,” You sigh. “I take full responsibility for what happened tonight, though. Tonight, I wasn’t thinking about anything other than covering my ass.” It’s quiet as you bow your head under their reprimanding gazes. “That being said, I’m no fucking rat,” You huff, referring to Cheshire’s earlier accusation. “Not in that way, at least.”
Roy’s still rightfully upset, but at least he’s looking at you now. “I believe you.”
You three sit there in silence as the situation settles, though you don’t feel as if you’ve really explained your rationale.
“I was embarrassed,” You choke back the overwhelming urge to cry. “You guys have always known my parents were shitty, but they’re thieves. They’re… murderers. They were using me as a lab rat, biding time until they could come to collect. They don’t care about me. They never did. You guys probably even knew that,” They wince as if proving your point. “And I’m still now just hearing things when we said no more lies between us. It’s no excuse for the harm I’ve put everyone in; I know, I just. Fuck! I keep fucking up when all I want is for everything to go back to normal, whatever that even means now. From now on, we tell each other everything. We need to have trust if-” You’re going to say ‘if this is going to work out,’ but what exactly is there to work out? “Just, we need to have trust. Maybe it’s selfish, but I,” You wrap your arms protectively around yourself, refusing to meet their eyes as you bare your entire heart, “I really need both of you right now.”
Their arms immediately encircle you, though you can’t quite allow yourself to give in to their touch just yet.
“We’re always here for you.”
Your heart swells.
“I know,” You hug both of them back finally and rest your head between their touching shoulders. “You both mean everything to me,” You can’t stop the words from coming out after all these years. “ Lian, too, of course.” You sniffle as you remember her tiny body sleeping in the other room. “I just want us to all be safe.” Lian had been included in too many close calls now because of you and you could never live with yourself knowing you caused harm to any person in their family. Maybe this resolution was just another selfish decision on your part. Doubt floods you before you and, before you can question it, spills out. “I don’t want to be the reason your family is destroyed,” You choke. “I know I should leave.”
Roy stops you from doing so when he says your name, “You can’t leave if you’re a part of this family too.”
You hesitate, “You don’t have to say that.”
“Since day one, you’ve been family. Even as a nerdy little kid, can’t you see that?” Roy tries to reach through to you. “Trust me. It took me a while to see it, too,” He confides, placing a delicate hand on your shoulder, “but it doesn’t make it any less true.”
You nod, appreciating his perspective as an outsider to Gotham and, subsequently, the Waynes.
The yellow calm of the moonlight trickles through the broken window, illuminating the toll this weighty situation has taken on all three of you.
“You are not your parents,” Jason finally says. “If anyone out there understands that, it’s us. We’ve known you since you were young. We know who you really are and know that you were never what they tried to make you.”
It’s the first time you feel like you’re on an even playing field with them. For once, there are no walls between the three of you for the first time since you've met.
It’s truly a fresh start.

Through a Mirror Darkly/Batmarch: Brave and the Bold: Deep Cover for Batman!/Game Over for Owlman! (Patreon Review for WeirdKev27)
Tumblr media
Hello all you happy people. Welcome back to Batmarch after a long unintended break from it and welcome one and all to Through a Mirror Darkly, a new mini retrospective that goes through the looking glass and sees what dark reflections of our heroes could be. Or in less pretty words: We're taking a look at a bunch of mirror universe episodes in animation using kev's patreon slots while we wait for Sam and Max: The Devil's Playhouse.
It's a familiar concept: a parallel universe where for one reason or another, either they were just born worse or something happened that pivoted them in the other direction, our heroes are evil, our villians are good and usually the universe is a hell hole. I also can't say we won't ever return to this idea as there's plenty of mirror universe stories out there. For now though we're focusing on the four best we found in the genre.
Starting off we have a unique spin on one of the more iconic mirror universes with Dc Comics Earth 3. DC started exploring the multiverse to simply clear up an issue: there were two flashes, Golden Age Hero Jay Garrick and Silver Age Hero Barry Allen. Since Allen was seen reading a flash comic, they used that springboard to make a parallel earth Barry acciidently went through while tying nots for a class of school children.
Fan Reception was great so DC went to the next logical step, bringing back the rest of the golden age heroes for earth 2 and having a proper crossover, one so big, bold and fun that DC made it an annual thing: every year the JLA would unite wtih the JSA and every year another earth would be involved. So for the second the next course was obvious: a bad guy earth where up was down, black was white, John Wilkes booth was shot by Abe Lincoln, and instead of a variety of heroes protecting it, a group of the worst of the worst had conquered it.
Earth 3 has been revisited a lot and it's something I'll likely be going back to again as there's a lot to dig into: Grant MOrrison brought it back, infnite crisis brought the origianl back, ther'es been a few rebooted versions since, there's a lot of takes on this, and that naturally spreads to animation with superfriends, justice league and the film justice league: Crisis on two worlds, all taking a swing at it.
And the swing we're looking at today is Batman Brave and the BOld's take. This was Brave and the Bold's mid season finale, taking the crime syndicate and swapping out it's members for the various heroes batman had teamed up with, ironicallys howing up BEFORE the justice league itself ever did. Also for some reason their earth 3 is earth 23.
Tumblr media
This two parter was the first in Brave and the Bold, one of only two in the series history, the other finishing off the starro saga. It's also one of those two parters where part one and part two are basically their own episodes rather than one big episode split up into multiple parts. It's something I notice more after binging X-Men the animated series recently, as most of thier two parters are of the "one big episode" variety, with exceptions like the brilliant time fugitives.
SO under the cut we have two distinct connected stories at Batman staves off an attack from Owlman, takes his identity to go undercover and figure out his world.. then is forced on the lmab and to team up with his greatest foe when Owlman returns the favor. It's a fun, furious two parter and it's under the cut.

Deep Cover for Batman!
We begin on Earth... 23.
Tumblr media
I get putting your own spin on things but when it's earth 3 in all but name.. just do what i'm doing and call it earth 3.
ON this blighted earth, it's last hero makes a last ditch Gamble: use a device called the Phase Oscelator and escape this earth to find help. This last hero is the Red Hood and most people familiar with this identity either know where this going or are confused why it's not jason tod but the joker in a dope suit and an expresionless mask.
The Red Hood was the Joker's first identity, revealed in a silver age story as what he did before falling in that vat and made canon again post crisis with the killing joke. How much of the story leading UP to joker becoming red hood in this version is vague if it's true or just one of Joker's many backstories, but the fact he was the hood and fell in acid isn't. Jason later took the identity for his own post ressurection, his own ironic sick joke on his murderer.
Given it's silver age stylings, it's a perfect fit here and a neat way to introduce JOker: not through the clown prince himself.. but through the hero he could've been as he makes his last stand. The series does obscure the cast in shadows.. though their shadier behavior tips that something's off. that and the whole "wreathed in shadow thing". It looks utterly neat and is staged beautifully, it just makes it painfully obvious their building up to so mething. That something is the reveal of the Injustice Syndicate. Why not crime syndicate, I dunno. The change in lineup is more fair as most leaguers hadn't been introduced yet so while Owlman, batman's evil counterpart stays, this version focuses on Owls and three brand new evil counterparts: Silver Cyclone, Blue Bowman and Crimson Scarab. The designs.. are really just recolors of their heroic counterparts, which I accept for the ones we see for like a scene later, but question hwy they put no real effort into these.
This sadly extends to the villians themselves as outside of Cyclone, most of them.. are just the character but EVIL. Even Owlman, despite getting two episodes is just "batman but evil" and mostly coasts on the fact that batman but evil is a chilling concept.
Part of the problem is, while I do LIKE these episodes... I feel they pulled the trigger way too early to do a parallel universe story. The other ones we'll be tackling are a decent ways into the shows run pulling from seasons 4 and 5 of two of them, and the middle of a truly MASSIVE season one for one of them. It's far enough in to know who these people are and thus get used to the opposiite. While we know Batman well enoguh at this point to get that, we really don't know most of the other heroes here well enougH: Green Arrow.. never really grows beyond "douchebag rival". Beetle however had a whole episode fleshing him out and is one of the only heroes with two so far so they have no excuse there. Red Tornado at least had a deep enough first episode to give them just enogu hto make a chilling evil versoin: Red badly wants to be part of humanity.. while Silver's cast his aside, being cold, emotionless and pure evil as he later tortures the Red Hood. IT's the lazy way to do a mirror universe: just that character but on the wrong side and it feels disapointing the show never went back and corrected this with a followup once we got to know the cast better. I really woudl've loved an evil aquaman once we got to know ours better.
Thankfully though while the evil dopplegangers are one note, the episode itself isn't as it's a fun tense ride starting with Owlman invading the bat cave. ANd as I said Owlman may bea bit thin as a villian.. but he works simply because "evil batman" itself is intriguing. It can be done poorly
Tumblr media
And sometimes won't go th efuck away, but the idea of someone as capable as batman using that power against us is chilling and the episodes use it well, this one having a cool parallel fight between the two, with the two evenly match, the animation flowign gorgeously and Batman winning simply because his counterpart has something he dosen't: arrogance. He pulls up night vision goggles after Batman takes out the lights... and Bats uses a MAGNEISUM FLAIR. He knows himself well enough to know his counterpart would have night vision and used that against him , locking Owlman up.
Having been left Red Hood's version of the batterang, a test run before he got captured and a calling card, Batman decides to investigate hence the deep cover and what makes this episode really work despite the thin characterization of most of the bad guys: Batman has to pretend to be his evil self, and it's clear from their actions both Silver Cyclone and Blue Bowman are suspcious from the get go, so it's a tense well done game of "how long can he keep this up"
Batman tries to spare his world by lying and saying everyone had powers there.. but this just gets Cyclone to go with option B: use a bomb to empty the world out. So not only does bats have tos tay under cover and try to minimize damage, he also has to save Earth 1 from annhilation without blowing said cover.
THankfully he has help as he gives an escaping red hood a mike and while hood is captured, Batman now has an ally. The Injustice Synidcate takes flight in a really cool scene, not just for the visuals.. but for how it's unsettling. Unlike most mirror universes at worst Earth 23 just has a bit more orange in the sky. Orange and Red skies: your sign we're all fucked!
What makes it actually unsettling is the civilians reactions.. they all run in terror and Batman's internal monologue makes it clear this is a world without heroes.. without hope. Instead of looking up at the sky in a we and at what they could be... they run in terror and pray their cruel gods don't see them.
The theft goes well though Bowman is getting more and more suspcious and has batman tailed by someone we can't see. GEE I WONDER WHAT HERO WE'VE MET IN SEASON 1 IS OUT OF SIGHT. SURELY IT MUST BE SOME NEW TAKE ON A HERO AND NOT THE ATOM. Meanwhile Cyclone tortures the red hood, saying he'll break him and showing a cruelty and lack of care that's just.. chilling coming from someone whose counterpart is noble and badly wants to be emapthetic. We also get a chilling recitation of Hood's history.. and just how determined this poor guy is: they knocked him into the chemicals, he presses on. They take out his allies after he finally gets some he continues. he won't break even in the face of this torture and it's WHY Cyclone wants to break him so bad.
Oh look it's the atom, who catches Batman just as he's about to free the prisoners sending him on the run. This sequences is the best of the episode, as Red Hood claims to be willing to finally talk.. while giving batman directions. Cyclone eventually figures this out and sends Bowman and Scarab to go finish this imposter. Unfortunately for them.... he's batman. He even says the line after he finishes them and finally can drop the disguise.
Unforutnately while the syndicate APPEARED to be just those 4 guys, it's actually a larger group and Cyclone called backup. Maybe they were in the INjustice Pool having an Injustice Mojito while playing INjustice.
Tumblr media
They aren't named so we'll go with The Molocule, Stretch Man, Aquamenace and Flare. I REALLY wish we got to hear evil Aquaman speak and my primary reason for being dispaointed we never got a followup is that Aquaman became so integral to the show it's weird to see his evil counterpart as one of the extras.
Thankfully Batman dosen't have to fight this alone and frees the other heroes, leading to a fun fight between the Injustice Synidcate and the Justice Society... wait no that dosen't work.. the Freedom Pals? Super Friends? Super Duper Justice Parade. Yeah that's the ticket.
So the Super Duper Justice Parade and the INjustice Synidcate have a scrap and since having a master stratgeist, or batigest if you will, on your side can tip the scales and the Synidcate lack theres, they loose.. all except Cyclone who triggers the bomb.
We then get an excellent twist: Cyclone.. is the DC version of Ultron in this reality, wanting to wipe out all humans and only having worked with them for his own gain, a truly sad contrast to his counterpart who simply wants to be accepted by humanity and tries his best to understand them. The bomb was ALWAYS intended to just kill the squishes and he dosen't care which earth he gets to rebuild in his image. Thankfully Red Hood shows up and... blows up his head. Jesus. I mean he deserved it, but it's a reminder this IS the joker, down to ending with a pun.. he's just a hero. He has his evil alternate reality counter part's style, skill and determination.. but not the madness that drives him. Simply a desire to do good
So with that earth 23 minus 20 is saved, Batman goes home.. and finds that he's now the most wanted man alive.
Tumblr media
Deep Cover for Batman is a decent episode. Like I said it's hampered by the fact only ONE of the syndicate is fleshed out.. but that one is just enoguh to help this and the well done sequences it does have along with the gorgeous animatoin make up for the lak of worldbuilding and character building for the baddies as does Jeff Bennet, Johnny Bravo himself, as Red Hood, proding an operating yet utterly heroic and loveable performance. And it'd be his best in the series... if he didn't get to top himself right after
Tumblr media
Game Over For Owlman!
So yeah while it's only been like.. a day for batman, it's been three weeks. Owlman broke out and using Batman's first outfit, such a cool little mythology gag complete with the purple gloves he really did have.
Tumblr media
They even made an action figure of it multiple times. It's great. I need me one of those at some point.
For now though this means all of Batman's friends are against him and it's the one part of this episode that I REALLY don't like as it feels REALLY sloppy, not to mention most of them don't seem torn up about this. It makes sense for Green Arrow: his greatest rival turning out to be evil? It's his goddamn birthday. But only Plastic Man seems REALLY hurt, which works well as Batman rode him so hard about being a reformed criminal so seeing him bein ga hypocrite clearly breaks the poor guy a bit. But everyone else just accepts this. And I get it's been 4 weeks but like.. not only is he wearing an older costume now.. but NONE OF you in a world with, up to this point in the series: Aliens, Ghosts, Super Intelligent Gorillas, Sorcerers, Atlantis, Atlanteans, Time Travel, Power Rings, my boy Mogo the living planet, Deadman, martial arts magic and fucking Bwana Beast, who I love but is objectively weird as shit which is why I love him, same for Mogo. And the bulk of this these guys were THERE FOR.. and not one of you thinks the obvious: that Batman's being mind controlled or has been replaced by a double. It's fucking agrivating. Again Ollie gets a pass as his reactoin to getting to fight batman and have a valid excuse is clear and true
Tumblr media
But the fact Beetle, who idolizes batman or Red Tornado, whose logical as fuck don't spot the obvious bothers me, it bothers me a lot
Thankfully after this less than great start, we get to the meat of the episode and what makes this ep so damn memorable: Batman is dropped into a warehouse where he meets his unlikely savior: The Joker. And for added pizaz to this reveal this was the clown prince's first apperance all season and the first time we've seen ANY of batman's foes all series. Every previous show is a b or c list villian attached to someone else, usually not the guest hero of the episode for added points. It's part of the series charm: instead of focusing on Batman's iconic but well used foes, it uses the wide scope of the dc plucking out every other villian great and small to get some spotlight.
Not only did this allow some villians even I didn't know existed like Babyface or Fun Haus to get spotlighted.. but it also meant when one of Batman's usual rogues DID show up it felt like a big event. Here especailly as after all this time we finally get to see one of Batman's own foes.. and it is glorious.
Jeff Bennet plays the Joker.. and he is utterly delightful. This Joker, while still vile and villanous fully leans into the silver age astetic of the show: he's still implied to kill people, still does over the top schemes, but it's in that classic golden and silver age way of more IMPLYING the death than showing the carnage he does. While other jokers can be funny this one, at least for this ep is almost entirley played for comedy, more an overgrown kid at play than the dangerous monster he usually is that's also an overgrown child just one who'd burn ants, whlie never really letting up on his competence, best shown subtly when Batman handcuffs him.. only fo rhim to have used the false wrists gag. Bennet plays it perfectly, using a posh accent to both seperate the joker from previous versoins and play into the old timey astetics the series loves.
Turns out Joker isn't happy with the new status quo as he loved the game as was and wants to partner with Batman instead.. the real batman. Unlike Batman's friends, Joker can actually TELL the other one's an imposter and can you know, tell that Batman suddenly doing crimes is weird and probably isn't him. It's not helped by the fact Owlman is horning in on his own crimes, ruining his fun.
So Joker offers batman his help: they team up and take out a mututal headache. Batman's first response is
Tumblr media
Joker makes a valid point that sways him though: Batman is fighting someone as obessive, well thought out and type A as himself. Neither he nor Owlman really have the advantage, something backed up by their fight earlier and Owlman easily escaping the second Batman was gone: Their SO much alike that the odds of Batman actually beating him are low, as is the opposite. It's a clever way to use the mirorr gimmick.. and the joker: As Joker points out not only is he pure chaos, something harder to predict, he's also come the closest out of anyone to actually beating Batman.
Batman is forced to Acknolwdge he's right and they Take joker's car. It's a brilliant concept too: Batman and the Joker are usually so diffrent they CAN'T work together, but the stakes here are perfect to force the issue. it's also a delightful dynamic as Batman is a perfect straight man to his arch enemy's goofy antics, with joker soaking up every minute of this teamup, from saving a child then milking it for all ti's worth when the kid turns out to be afraid of batman, to , when they have to call in a batmobile after thier car gets wrecked (Batman naturally keeps a spare and in another nice nod it's the one he used in the 50s), tries to press all the buttons like a deranged 7 year old. It's fucknig great.
They had back to the bat cave after a chase form team dumbass, and Batman finds out something horrifying: Owlman found all his contenginces and is using them. This is something taken from the comics: Batman has a bunch of diffrent plans in case his justice pals are brainwashed or mind controlled. It lead to the brilliant story tower of Babel as Ras Ah Ghul got a hold of them and turned them up to lethal. It's something they SHOULD know he has and should have more consequences here like that comic, but it dosen't. It is however resonable: unlike his friends Batman again is well aware brainwashing happens and we now know there's evil dopplegangers in at least one other universe. It's smart to have a plan, some of them should just bea ware of that and for all we know they might be. They don't , and shoudln't, know what that backup IS, but they should be trusted to know he has a plan if something happens.
Ethics aside this gives Owlman everything he needs to take out all of batman's major allies thus far, and gather his own injustice league of all the various vilians, who apparently completely trust a guy pretending to be batman meaning the villians are the only ones in this episdoe who actually get that multiverse theroies a bitch and don't just go "oh this paragon of justice is evil now. Cool. That happened".
Batman and the Joker bust in to save the day.. but Owlman's already prepared for this , and after batman looses the numbers game.. offers Joker something he can't reisist.. his own trap. Batman dunked in wax. The spiral effects as he looks at the button and his eulogy after are hilarous.
Thankfully Batman , like Owlman, saw this coming and thus had the phase oscelatior repared. I also love that in hindsight, the time diffrences in dimensions.. was a chekovs gun: Batman spents some time in the multiverse finding himself.. and himself.. and himself.. and also himself, and himself once again, and oh look him as a cowboy.
Tumblr media
It's a great reveal and one i'd forgotten: Batman found the joker was right, he can't beat himself alone.. but himselfves can.
It also speaks to the Brave and the Bold staff's love of the comics and heavy penchant for research as ALL of these batmen with exactly one exception are based on existing stories. That's the armored batman who even then still SOMEWHAT resembles Jean Paul's armor during his time of batman, but isn't close enough for me to fully think that's what they were going for
Thanks to the dc wiki though I know where the rest come from so settle in:
Going from left to right, we have the cowboy batman. Because everythings better when you make it a cowboy. It's just science.
Cowboy Batman is based on Nighthawk, a western hero I hadn't heard of before Kev showed me this wiki page. This is neat as the next year we COULD get a full cowboy look for batman during the return of bruce wayne after Darkseid seemingly killed him but thanks to a time gun he actually got sent through time and space, recarnating each time and each time becoming a new batman
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next we have Bat Creature, a giant hulking batman that came out of batman getting hit by an evolution ray meant fo rmonkeys that somehow turned him into the hulk
Tumblr media
We then have vampire batman, the one variant I recognized as the dc 60 years of history book I read as a kid, and now have thanks to the kindnes of my mom's friend LIsa, had a section on it. It was a trilogy of elseworlds stories where Batman fought dracula and became a vampire as a result then lord of vampires. I.. really need to cover that one sometime.
Easing down past regular batman and ?????? Batman we have Captain Leatherwing, an alternate timeline bruce who became a pirate captin in a one off annual done by Chuck Dixon.
Finally we have hyper evolved batman, based off another wacky silver age transformatoin. During an issue of WOrld's Finest batman and superman found a satilite that crashed ot earth that evolves of devolves creatures. Unforutnately Hyper Evolved Batman, what was seen as 800,000 years of evolution hitting him at once, apparently ended up cold and evil and devolved superman as a result. And why yes Cave Superman versus Big Head Batman is something I should look at sometime. This version is heroic instead thankfully.
So a big ole bat-brawl insues and it's the highlight of the two parter... mostly because Joker spends the bulk of it running around with a round bomb with the biggest giggly smile on his face. The fighting though is great, with each batman getting to show off and freeing a hero. My faviorites are Aquaman's rescue, which has Black manta trying to turn up the giant sunlamp he's trapped under like he's turning up the volume on a tv before one of the batmen breaks a sprinkler allowing Aquaman to kick some ass, and Brain Batman Vs my boy THE Brain, which is won by Plastic man stretching his free arm to distract the brain. It's a well crafted wonderful fight scene that really leans into the craziness of the situation and has a lot of fun with tiself, which really sums up the show as a whole.
As for our big bad and his new best buddy, their defeated by their ego: both think they should finish off batman.. and thus bats is able to drop the wax thing on them.
One de waxing and a lot of handcuffs later
Tumblr media
The villians are all arested, none of the heroes bother to apologize, and Batman geninely wonders if Red Hood means Joker has good in him. As for Owlman the other batmen take him back with him giving an omnious vow to return.. which let me check what episode that happens in.
Tumblr media
..... you maybe see why I think this needed a followup.
At any rate while it has a bumpy start, Game Over for Owlman is pure fun once the joker gets involved and a good romp as Batman's forced to babysit his arch enemy to beat himself, and the finale encapuslates the shows "anything goes" style. You want a pirate, cowboy, hyper evolved, devolved, and armored batman beating up a bunch of foes while Joker runs around with a bomb? Yes let's do that. The show's love of just how fucking weird comics are will never not be endearing and this episode encapsulates that. These two eps aren't brave and the bold's best, but their still a LOT of fun and a decent enough story. NOt the best mirror universe story
Next in Bat Month: We have some more goofy classic goodness as we go to the golden age to find out where some of batman's most famous trophies come from as Bats must deal with gambling themed death traps, a man screwed over by pennies, and being hunted my mechanical dinosaurs on a billionares island. So a standard week fo rbatman, a good review for you
Next time Through a Mirror Darkly: We see just exactly where Darkwing Duck's arch enemy comes from as Darkwing tries to bring hope to a hopleless world. Get used to that it's goign to be a running theme.
Thanks for reading

A/N: So, some people enjoyed my first published work, and with that I decided to post this one. I'm not really confident about it, but maybe I'm overthinking. also, there might be grammar mistakes, since english isn't my first language. sorry about this :)
Anyway, This is another JASON x FEM!READER fic, because i love this boy heavily.
summary: (1,9k words) Jason build an habit of visiting her in the Manor. They try to comfort each other about life's shit, him more directly, and her by small actions. Also, the trope can be said as "not only one bed, but i want to share it with you", i guess. Reader is 17, last year of school. I perceive jay as 19, a bit after he adopted the red hood persona, so things are still harsh between him and brucie.
hope u guys enjoy.
Promises - from me, to you.
She knew the night was rough when he shoved his helmet in her desk with harshness. Looking at his eyes, the reason of hiding them in the field is clear - he is unable to disguise his emotions. Those blue, green eyes (she's never been able to decide the color) stares at her. Jason's hair was a mess, the curls undefined and shiny from sweat, and his breath trembles as he fights against the tears trying to escape. She gets out of bed, the clock exposing the sinfulness of the time they usually meet.
"Balcony?" scratching the eyes, trying to get rid of the sleepiness, her tired voice awakes a feeling of guilt inside Jason. Hoping the sleep deprived her from noticing the drops in his cheeks, he pushes the guilt to the back of his mind; remembering himself that she told a million times his presence wasn't a bother.
"Yeah."
Out in the balcony, they stare at the sky. Gotham's lights steals all the shine from the starts, so it is nothing but a black cloak. He feels like smoking, an usual urge lately. Their forearms are supported by the railing, wind making her hair swing. He looks at her profile, and he can feel the adrenaline finally vanishing.
Caught staring, she looks at him back with a smile, "Rough night?"
"All of them have been, lately." She hums in agreement.
The girl plays with her fingers, looking at the city. Jason is unsure about the reasons he comes to her. Before these meetings, he would simply go to his apartment and stare at the wall. Or find something else to full his mind. But, after that first night they talked... It was so simple, so easy. No drama, no disagreements. He could just be himself without worrying about what she would think of him - because she never corrected nothing. Never gave him a lecture about his ways.
"Still studying for those exams?" He nedeed to talk about something. Anything other than cases, crimes or fucking death. Just small talk.
"Most of the time. Is hard, you know. Sometimes my mind tricks me into thinking I'm unable to complete the tasks."
"Why's that? You have some of the best grades in your class."
"I'm not sure. There's always someone outstanding me, and not only in school. I just... I kinda compare myself a lot, I guess."
He knows the feeling. Growing in the Manor, he usually compared himself to Richard and even to Bruce. He had to die to understand - he was his own person. Even so, in some aspects, those tricks always catch him too.
"I know it sounds cliche, but there's really no reason to compare yourself."
"I know. I mean, look at this city. Millions of people, millions of stories. Can you imagine all that goes on? And I'm so lucky to live here now. Most of these people would kill to have the life I got. But I still feel so... undeserving."
His eyes follow her movements, now her back supported by the railing. Hair swinging a little in front of her face. A perfect movie take, he thinks. He also thinks that, if she believes being undeserving of this life, Jason can't assure if he deserved to come back to it. Actually, he's sure he does not. Hell, he didn't even wanted to come back.
Realizing Jason went into the depths of his mind, she sighs, trying to bring him back.
"I compare myself to you guys the most." As she expected, this called attention.
"Why?"
A bitter laugh. "Why? Jason, look at you. You give so much for this city. Even if the others disagree with your methods, you stand for yourself and... I don't know. You guys do so much. I feel like time's running out and I'm unable to keep the pace."
"We do this so you, and other people, can have their own pace. There's no reason in sacrifice if everyone does it."
She tilts her head to look at him, not appearing to notice his sudden change of tone, "I know." The wind gets stronger, her arms shivering.
"Let's go inside. You're cold." He opens the balcony glass door, pulling her in.
"Come sit with me." She jumps into the bed playfully, petting her side for the sake of his presence.
"I'll dirty your bed."
"So I'll stand with you." And she did stand, face in the height of his chest. His heart pounded at the difference of power between them. Not because he finds said difference amusing, but it's the way she acts around him; comfortable, happy with his presence. Even when both of them know he could do to her - with her - wathever he wanted. But she trusts him. With this in mind, he does a silent promise to her; but mostly, to himself: He'd always use this in the sake of protecting her. Realizing he's been quiet for some time, he laughs.
"I think it's time for me to go, actually. Sun's rising and you need to go back to sleep."
I don't think I deserve this. His eyes, against his wish, might have revealed the process of thinking.
Her brows furrowed, and he never found this girl more beautiful than now. "Stay, Jason. You have a room in the Manor, just take a shower and come back here."
Even knowing she didn't meant that, he felt shivers in his back. I'll always come back to you, the words begged to leave his lips.
"Nah, you do need to sleep. And I don't want to find Bruce in the middle of the corridor, honestly."
"Take a shower in my bathroom, then. I'll grab your clothes, you had a rough patrol. Just relax a bit, we can even watch a movie if you want."
He ponders about the tempting offer. Fuck it, fuck what Bruce will think if he finds out, and fuck his own feelings of excitement about sharing this moment with her. She's right, the night was rough and he deserves to have ordinary, simple moments. He has the right to seek something- and to seek someone. And he has the right to do something about it.
"Okay. There are fitting clothes in the first drawer of the closet." He kept some casual clothes in the Manor, for situations that he might want to stay. He's glad he ever believed one day he'd want to be there.
Entering her bathroom, while she sneaked into the corridor, he observed every aspect of the place. The elegant curtains, the big mirror. Her products for skin, and her hair. All from the greatest quality - thanks Bruce for taking such good care of her - and soft towels. Taking off his dirty clothes and tossing them behind the door, he allows the water to clean his body and mind.
His hair would smell like her for the whole next day, and he felt like a creep for realizing it, enjoying it and being unable to control the little smile in his face.
A knock pulled him out of the thought, "Jay, your clothes!" He grabbed a towel and rolled in his hips. Opening the door just enough to grab it, he thanked her, getting ready to bed.
•••
Her bed was soft. He sitted in the end of it, watching her choose a movie in some streaming platform. The pajamas fitted perfectly. A small shorts, socks with a lot of small Yodas stamped. A cute long sleeve shirt, but a bit tight. Her hair a mess from the wind. He stared at her, trying to make his eyes stare up.
"Oh I swear, If I had to choose between only two movies it would be so easy. The problem of this world really is the amount of possibilities."
"Hey. Forget the movie. Let's just..." Just what?
Just stare at each other laying in bed? He would actually like this. But it's strange to word it.
"Just what, Jason?"
"Talk?" He sounded like a stupid, inexperienced teenage boy. Well, he was feeling like one- so that's fair.
Giving up the movie, she turns off the TV.
"Fine, get in the sheets. I'm cold!" They both enter inside the sheets, a comfort warm embracing their bodies. He realizes how tired he is, eyes heavy.
Her eyes trail Jason's face shamelessly. She didn't felt that urge of pretending not to stare like he did. She just observed him, enjoying his features.
"You're so pretty, Jay." His heart jumped. What does he answer to this? Compliments back? No, kinda clumsy. Denies it? She'd get mad at him.
"Ahm. I- okay." She laughs, lighting the whole room.
"And soooo cute."
"Stop it, now you're saying this only to tease me." He feels a smile growning in his own face.
"Sleep here with me, Jason?" She asked suddenly, after some moments of silence. Her voice went low, as if she was unsure about wording the wish. His mind went quiet. They agreed of him staying a little more, but he'd been sure she would eventually ask him to leave. He licks his lips, trying to choose a proper answer;
"I have my own, and I don't want to bother you."
"Yeah, but I wanna make sure you really sleep. Besides, I feel a bit scared at nights here, being honest. I'm also alone because Bruce and the boys do patrol. Would be nice have a company."
Bullshit. He knows she doesn't feel scared- it's impossible to have fear about the exterior in the Manor. Everybody knows about the absurd high security. But, feeling alone - that's usual. She's trying to convince him to stay, he decides.
"Fine. But don't get used to it." She doesn't know, but he says this more to himself. Don't get used to it.
"You said this exactly when we first talked at the balcony, and we do it almost every week."
"This is different."
"Yeah, yeah. Guess I'll have to bring your clothes to my room." Please do this. Let me be here always. He forces a laugh,
"Go to sleep." She doesn't close her eyes.
"You first, jaybird."
"Are you what, five?" A chuckle.
"No, Jason. I want you to sleep with me. Hold me. Stop being oblivious." So confident. She states that with so much assurance. He envys this briefly; and his heart skipped a bit as he remembers himself they are friends, she's asking him to hold her because they are close friends. Right?
His hands are trembling for some reason. "Right."
He had promised to be the protector, and realized it was stupid of him to do so. Stupid of him, because in the end, he's the one feeling safe while having his arms around her. Her back pressed in his chest, her smell lulling him to sleep. The softness of her body made him hold tight, hand resting on her waist. His last thought before drowning in dreams was the sure this would be the best sleep of his life.
That night had been rough on him; just as his whole life had. And Jason build walls around him - walls that he always believed were unbreakable. Proving all of his sures wrong, she was melting all barriers without a single weapon.
Sometimes, protection is not about force - but the simple will of being close. Is about choosing to be together, even when you don't have to.
Listening to his steady breath and getting closer to Jason's body, she realizes;
You completed the task, girl. You deserve this.
And she smiled.

Jason Grace x Child of Eris!Reader Headcanons
Pairing: Jason Grace x Child of Eris!Reader
Warnings: Probably OC Jason, Piper and Jason were never dating, LIGHT violence, idk
This is after The Blood of Olympus and before The Trails of Apollo. I have also taken some... creative liberties. It’s way too detailed and I may as well have just written a fic but too late. Lemme know if you guys wanna see a fic or anything else, really.
How you meet:
You meet at Camp Half-Blood a few days after the war with Gaia
Jason is heading to the infirmary to visit Nico (and maybe tease him about a certain son of Apollo a bit, but hey, who can blame him?)
You’re sitting on the front steps of the Big House, a bandage on your left cheek and clothes still bloody.
He doesn’t realize he’s staring until you clear your throat and look at him
“You gonna say something or just stare at me?”
He goes bright red, apologizes flying out of his mouth
“I’m so sorry, it’s just, well, why are you still so...”
“Bloody?” you ask, a grin starting to form. It’s a little scary, if he’s honest.
You explain you haven’t been back to cabin 42 yet, as it got damaged in the battle, so you’ve been helping around camp instead and sleeping in tents with your siblings
“Besides, the chaos helps me stay focused.”
It takes Jason a few minutes to remember what demigods cabin 42 is home to until...
“You’re a child of Eris?”
He couldn’t really believe that YOU were a child of Eris. Sure, your smile was startling, but he had a feeling that was on purpose.
Besides that, you seemed... well, like a normal, admittedly attractive demigod
“Is that a problem?”
Stuttering out a panicked “of course not!” and more apologies, he stops short when you begin to laugh
You say you were just teasing him, and with a genuine smile (which was really nice, actually) you excuse yourself and walk away towards the mess hall.
He watches you leave, face still red, and can’t help but want to talk with you again
Becoming friends:
He’s sees you again standing outside your cabin, talking to a younger girl who is bouncing in place and a older boy beside you who is dressed in all black.
He goes to talk to you, but before he can, you wave at them and vanish into the shadows.
He feels his breath catch in his lungs.
You can shadow travel???
She’s a granddaughter of Nyx, idiot, of course she can.
He walks back to his cabin in a daze, wondering why he wanted to see you again so bad.
The next day he manages to catch up to you as you walk to the mess hall for lunch
He jogs to catch up and awkwardly says he never caught your name
When you introduce yourself, he tells you his name as well
“I know who you are, Grace.”
With an embarrassed laugh (he really needed to get it together), he asks if you wanted to spar sometime
“Like for fun? Sure.”
And that’s where it all started
Fluffy times:
You’re always there for each other
People get confused, because you 2 seem so different
That doesn’t stop you from beating the hell out of each other in the arena one moment and laughing together the next
He gets permission to sit at your table sometimes
All your siblings love him, but also tease you relentlessly
“Here comes your boyfriend-” “Shut up you are the worst oh my gods-”
You definitely don’t like him
Definitely
He loosens up more around you more than most people, laughing and stealing fries from your plate
He goes to you when his doubts take over and he’s left wondering if he’s good enough
“I messed up the one chance I had with my father. Who says I won’t mess up again?”
You kinda hate Zeus/Jupiter for that, but you’ll never say anything
You’d rather not be struck down, thank you
The day he decides to actually acknowledge his growing crush on you is about 4 months later
He busts into cabin 9 in search of Leo, and very uncharacteristically freaks out
Leo laughs at him for a solid 5 minutes before he finally stops and takes the situation seriously
“Tell them.”
“But-”
“Tell them.”
So he would… when the time was right
The right time:
Turns out “the right time” tends to never come
He tried to say something several times
But for the first time in a long, long time, he can’t seem to find the courage
Part of him relishes in feeling like a normal guy with a crush
The rest of him wants to bang his head against a wall
So he definitely did not plan to tell you how he felt on a cold December afternoon
Everything was normal, you were both walking to the climbing wall for some fun, when you heard yelling from Half-Blood Hill
You 2 go racing to the top of the hill, only to find a terrified satyr attempting to protect 3 young kids, likely demigods
Jason is in the air before you can blink, flying towards the hellhound that threatens them
Despite having only a dagger, you rush forward as well, unwilling to let Jason fight alone
You two fight well together after months of training, enough so to distract the truck-sized hellhound and allow the kids and satyr to make it past the border
A dagger isn’t the best weapon against a giant canine, however, so you’re forced to be constantly moving to avoid claws and teeth
When you misstep roll your ankle, you yelp as your leg gives out under you, loud enough to distract Jason, who is immediately slapped by a large paw and thrown against Thalia’s tree
The hellhound advances towards him, but before it can get too far, you roll under it and directly into it’s shadow on the ground and out beside Jason
Grabbing onto him, you pull him into the only safe place you can think of
The Zeus cabin
After nights sneaking in and watching movies (and technically breaking the rules but hey, what Chiron doesn’t know won’t hurt him), it feels safer than anywhere else
Or to be more precise, Jason feels safe and the Zeus cabin is Jason’s home
Popping out from Zeus’ statue’s shadow, you quickly sit up and lean over him, desperate to see if he’s okay
And that’s when he kisses you
It doesn’t last long, but when you part, you can only stare at him
“You’re not concussed, right?”
He laughs and shakes his head (and you’ll later find out he was, but he insists he would have kissed you regardless)
“No, no, I’ve wanted to do that for... awhile.”
So you kiss him again, and then panic when he groans in pain after trying to sit up
(Off to the infirmary you go, where you would find a disapproving son of Apollo and a son of Hades who laughs for 5 minutes when he hears that he got taken down by a hellhound of all things)
But looking at you, talking with Nico while Will attempts to give him more ambrosia, he finds he’s happier than he’s been in a long, long time
He’s finally home

DP x DC prompt where Bruce and Tim go to investigate Amity Park, with Jason in tow, all suited up. They’ve heard a strange claim about “ghosts” there, and trying to research the town revealed a concerning government presence and tampered records.
The moment they enter the town, the ectoplasm in the air starts rapidly filtering out the corrupted ectoplasm in Jason’s system and strengthening his underdeveloped core (kinda like To Join the Whispers). Jason doesn’t tell Bruce or Tim at first since he’s kind of freaking out about how the Pit is responding to the town. Then Jason’s arm goes through a table and they don’t really have any idea what is happening and are now all freaking out about it. Danny sees this happen and immediately recognizes the same sudden, uncontrollable power displays he had after the Accident.
Danny is extremely torn because he wants to help (a new halfa?? or something close enough??? and he’s a vigilante???? hell yeah), but he’s also Terrified of Batman going anywhere near his fucking house. So he introduces himself as Phantom and tries his best to steer them away from FentonWorks while also trying to help talk Red Hood through everything and dump a lot of ghost facts on them. Going to see Frostbite is extremely tempting, but Danny’s pretty sure he can handle this. Pretty sure. (He does Not want Batman near the portal, since it means being in his gd house, and he doubts he can get Red Hood there without Batman following.)
The bats didn’t even know who Phantom was until they arrived in Amity and they’re all a Little concerned that this random, powerful ghost child is this excited about Jason essentially going through ghost puberty in record time. It’s even more concerning that Phantom doesn’t seem at all surprised that a human can be part ghost in any way, which means either Phantom is somehow human himself (somehow) or that this is just not a new occurrence in this town.
They came here to figure out wtf was happening in Amity, and Phantom’s raising about 50 more questions by the second. Bruce sees Phantom take down a mutant ghost bear ripping through town and now he’s pretty sure this ghost child (who may or may not be partially alive??) is a load-bearing feature of the town. He’s not a fan of that. Bruce is even more concerned that, upon mentioning the government presence in town, Phantom says the GIW is causing more problems for the town and is actively hunting him.
Jason’s just... having a time. He’s never felt so zen and anxious at the same time. He wants to feel skeptical about Phantom and what’s going on, but being anywhere near the kid makes him feel like he’s hanging out with his best friend since childhood, wrapped in a warm blanket and safe as can be. (And the Pit is quiet and his mind feels Clear.)
The only reason the bats didn’t attack Phantom and drag Jason away in the first place is because Jason doesn’t Want to leave and jumped to defending the kid oddly quick. They tried to drag Jason out of town but he’s turning partly-intangible now whenever someone touches him and they physically can’t.
Danny’s pretty much adopted Red Hood as his new brother and even if he doesn’t trust Batman as far as he can throw him (far), he feels like he’s doing a pretty good job juggling mentoring Red Hood and managing to derail Batman’s investigation at the same time. Tucker helped lure the Drs. Fenton out of town with a fake ghost hunting convention, and the online information for anything in Amity is so butchered (between Tucker, Technus, and the GIW each having their turn at tampering) that the bats are having to rely mostly on word of mouth for their investigation.
He’s not doing quite as good of a job as he thinks he is, though. All it took was Phantom badmouthing the FentonWorks building once in passing for Bruce to look into it. They try to break into the place the moment they think Phantom’s gone-- only the house has some Surprisingly violent security systems and Phantom appears out of no where and drags them away.
They plan to go back the next day, cause there’s definitely Something there and they’re pretty sure it’s the answers they need. (Even just looking at the weird structure on the roof pretty much promises that.)
Only... Jason’s developing core (which isn’t fully formed and is soaking up the ectoplasm in Amity like a sponge) turns out to be an electric core. It starts going Buckwild with pent up energy, and Danny is having None of that. He goes from being very happy and excited to just-- terrified and flighty.
Random sparks of electricity around the kid with the Worst track record with that stuff? Yeah, no thanks.
Danny races home and just paces endlessly, confiding in Jazz that he doesn’t know what to do and wants to help and feels awful for bailing on them-- but he doesn’t feel capable handling someone with electricity sparking off of them like water off a duck. He thinks they need Frostbite’s help, which means letting Batman into FentonWorks, which means opening himself up to the possibility (probability) of Batman finding out more about the Fentons, Danny Fenton specifically, and Phantom.
The bats are panicking because, skeptical of Phantom or not, he was the only person providing them with answers and trying to help. Jason’s stressed to high hell without the calming feeling of Phantom nearby-- AND electricity now jolting from his hands uncontrollably on top of everything. The electricity is just coming and going at random, with him having no control over it.
They go to FentonWorks, their only lead, and this time a girl with red hair answers the door. She’s clearly stressed out about something-- and she has Phantom in her house, looking dejected and still very terrified as he keeps his distance. Why Phantom is in a house that is clearly stacked to the nines with ghost hunting equipment is... suspicious.
Jason’s powers act up almost immediately after entering the house-- causing some very scary damage to the nearest light fixture-- and Jazz is like “yeah no, we need to fix this Now” and marches them straight to the portal. The entire time she’s trying to explain her parents’ work and how they have friends through this portal that can help, and it’s Quite the sell to make on the fly.
They walk past a few family pictures on the wall on the way to the lab and it’s all Tim needs to see to be like “Soooo Phantom is definitely your brother-- hey um why is your brother a ghost??” He expresses this aloud and the way Danny tries to stammer and hide it is as good of confirmation as anything.
And then they see the state of the lab. All of the ghost-hunting weapons just lying around, and the giant portal to hell-- and how Phantom is still visibly keeping his distance from the sparks coming off of Jason. There’s just building rage in Bruce as he’s putting together the parental negligence and trauma. He wants to grill the two kids about their parents (why do they have all of these ghost hunting weapons when their kid is some sort of ghost?? WHY is their kid some sort of ghost???), but now he’s faced with a teenaged girl trying to convince him to go through a mysterious ghost portal to bring his kid to some strange ghost doctor.
Jason is leery as can be of the portal (it Looks a bit too like the Lazarus Pit, and it definitely feels like death), but this girl-- Jazz-- doesn’t seem afraid of going through the portal and is making it very clear she’ll just go into this “Ghost Zone” without them and grab this doctor if she has to. The thought of the girl diving through the portal by herself (and the sparks still flying off of him, making a mess of the lab equipment), is enough incentive to get Jason to go with.
Transporting Jason is... problematic, though. He would absolutely destroy the Specter Speeder if he rides in it. They eventually settle on Danny dragging Jason through the zone by a line (wearing a giant pair of rubber gloves on top of his gloves because he is not playing around).
By the time they get to the Far Frozen, the situation is sort of... solving itself? Being in the Ghost Zone has filtered out the last of the Pit's gunk from Jason and his malformed core is settling down now that it doesn't have good ectoplasm competing with sludge. He still doesn't really have control over the electricity, and feels a bit overwhelmed with energy, but it's no longer firing on all cinders.
Frostbite's pretty bothered by meeting Jason. He recognizes him as something similar to Danny (Bruce isn't going to let the "Great One" nicknamed Phantom has slide also; hoo boy that's another for the Giant List), but... Off. He has a core but it's-- small. Delicate. It was dormant until he entered Amity, and even now it doesn't really have the power or even shape a normal ghost core should.
Frostbite is able to help with the electricity, at least, by just explaining that now that his core has formed (in what capacity it can) Jason has to be careful about pent up energy to avoid it striking out. That the electricity feeds easily off of available energy and, especially if his emotions are high, will lash out if it overflows. He has Jason let out a lot of energy in a secluded space and it feels immensely cathartic.
Jason is still not allowed into the Specter Speeder on the way back to FentonWorks.
Returning to FentonWorks (with Jason's condition stabilized after his GZ spa cleanse) opens the door for a very careful interrogation of the Fenton siblings. Each answer or non-answer they give is more concerning than the last. The straw that breaks the camel's back is learning that the portal itself killed Danny and that his parents are not in any way aware he's (half) dead because of the ever-real risk his parents will hurt him if they find out.
They haven’t even mentioned Vlad. There’s still so much.
Bruce is already mentally signing the adoption papers. Tim and Jason have accepted they're getting two new siblings and are warning the family (and Jason's planning to be as careful as he can with these new powers so he doesn't freak Danny out because knowing Why it was freaking Danny out has him wanting to wear his own pair of rubber gloves and strangle their parents with them).
Danny is just a little shellshocked that these people are nicer than he thought and are willing to help him and not make his life worse.
Also notes: Jason wouldn't have a full roster of halfa abilities. No secondary form (though the white hair tuft prob glows more, and his eyes turn green more often), probably no true flight, and no ectoblasts. He mostly gets a grasp on the electricity and intangibility, and can use invisibility sparingly. The pranks he and Danny (and later Dani) get up to are the stuff of legend.

DP AU where Danny is red-green colorblind and isn’t aware of what color ectoplasm is
Scenario 1: Danny’s blood as a human is green and he’s in no way aware of this. He’s lucked out and not been injured while human since the Accident, but one day he gets a cut at school and has NO idea why everyone is freaking out
Scenario 2: Danny trying to tell his mom he “just had a nosebleed” when his face and sweatshirt are stained green after getting punched in the face by Skulker. Maddie just staring at him in abject horror, Jazz in the background making panicked hand gestures
Scenario 3: Phantom bleeds red, and Danny can’t tell why the townspeople are freaking out about it cause he assumes it looks just like normal ectoplasm.
Scenario 4: Danny names Cujo Clifford because he thinks he’s red and Sam and Tucker just let it happen because they think it’s funny

DP x DC prompt where Danny is a young adult living in Gotham.
He's 24 and has been Ghost King since turning 18. Danny has been estranged from his parents ever since he destroyed their portal. It was his first act as king.
Danny shares an apartment with Sam and Tucker. Sam works with nonprofits in the city, while Tucker gets involved in WE with his genius programming skills.
Danny makes ice sculptures and sells them around Gotham for fun. He sometimes helps out with crime when he thinks he can do it quietly, but otherwise Danny lets Batman and the police handle it. He has enough work to do in the Ghost Zone as it is.
In his free time Danny likes to explore the Ghost Zone. He’s long-since given up dreams of exploring space. Danny can always fly to space if he wants to, but being able to rip open a portal to the Infinite Realms offers even more exploration opportunities than his child self could have dreamed of.
It’s during one of these explorations into the Ghost Zone that Danny finds a teenager sitting on a floating island. Danny rushes over to investigate, noticing that the kid looks very much alive, but as he draws near the kid’s arm turns invisible and he begins to panic.
Danny quickly realizes he’s faced with another halfa. The kid is a wreck. He looks barely older than Danny was when he died-- hell, he even looks like him with his black hair (with a shock of white) and blue eyes. It’s like looking into a mirror for Danny, and he immediately decides to take the kid under his wing.
It’s slow going at first. The kid, Jason, doesn’t remember much of his life, let alone his death. He’s scared and confused, with far too many questions. It takes Danny showing him his human form for Jason to trust Danny enough to go with him.
Danny takes Jason back to the apartment and introduces him to Sam and Tucker. They don’t pester him for answers, and instead jump at the chance to answer any questions Jason has. They help him understand his situation and learn about his new powers.
Over the next year, Jason becomes their kid. The trio homeschool him, with some help from several of the ghosts in in the GZ. They offer to help Jason figure out who he was, but he asks them not to. All Jason can remember of his death is that it was very violent and he’s hesitant to fill those memories in.
If Jason ever remembers more than that, he doesn’t tell them.
Jason’s a handful, but he’s their handful. He spends a lot of his time in the Ghost Zone (annoying Danny’s ghost friends, his adopted aunts and uncles) while they’re at work. Whenever Dani’s in town, the two are a force to be reckoned with.
Danny spends a lot of time visiting WE to annoy Tucker. He also becomes somewhat well known around town for his little ice sculptures. More than once, Danny finds himself in the accidental company of Bruce Wayne.
Bruce is curious about the strange young man. He has a lot of scars, and Bruce can’t make heads or tails of the strange ice he sells. He starts talking to him-- Danny-- to try and figure out if he’s a meta and/or potentially dangerous.
What Bruce figures out instead is that the kid is surprisingly quick-witted and funny. He’s also apparently a dad, raising a kid with his partners. Bruce still suspects that Danny might secretly be a meta, but he develops a pleasant rapport with him. They commiserate together about raising kids over coffee. Two unlikely friends.
Danny never mention’s Jason’s name. He has about a hundred nicknames for the kid and often calls him Magpie (partly due to his black and white hair, and partly due to his habit of bringing home random shit from the Ghost Zone). He’s very wary of using the kid’s real name around Gotham, in any case. They try to keep a low profile where Jason is concerned.
Bruce also never mentions Jason. His loss is still too much of a gaping wound and he doesn’t want to unload that on his young friend, let alone wallow in those memories.
One day Danny is wandering Gotham with Jason in tow, running some errands. They stop by WE to drop something off for Tucker and he spots Bruce. Danny decides it’s about time he introduced his kid to the man.
Time seems to stop when Jason and Bruce lock eyes.

DP x DC prompt where Jason and Danny both feel intensely protective of each other-- because they each register the other as a child ghost.
Jason doesn’t fully understand what the feeling means. He just knows that he takes one look at Danny and feels the need to scoop him under his wing like a mother hen and never let him go. The ectoplasm in his body is just screaming “THIS IS A CHILD PROTECT THEM”, but he just thinks it’s some of Bruce’s adoption tendencies rubbing off on him. He’s a little pissed about it but, oh well, guess he’s a dad now.
Danny has a better understanding of what’s going on. Kind of. He just knows that this human has a lot of ectoplasm and a very rudimentary core that probably needs treatment. He pretty much smells like he’s been freshly spat out by the Ghost Zone, still wobbling around on shaky baby ghost legs. His Obsession is just screaming at him to “please for the love of the Ancients protect and guide this newbie”
Danny very clearly has no parental support. Jason very clearly has no idea he’s ghostly. Both decide it’s their responsibility to fix this.
Danny starts living with him and Jason slowly integrates fatherly tendencies into their relationship. Danny, just as slowly, broaches more and more ghostly topics with Jason, like he’s trying not to spook a baby deer. They’re both convinced they’re the guardian in this situation.

My #1 post of 2022
DP x DC prompt where Danny winds up in Gotham and, after expressing that he’s all alone and just wandering the city aimlessly, he finds himself adopted by Bruce-- as Phantom.
Because if you’ve already adopted a bunch of kids, why not throw a ghost into the mix?
Danny just goes along with it, nervous but not really having any other options. If Bruce Wayne wants to adopt a ghost and feed him, why not humor the man? If they figure out he’s not actually a full ghost, he can always skip town and they’ll never see him again.
Only... Danny’s not sure how he keeps up the charade as long as he does. The moment he finds out he’s not only been adopted by Bruce Wayne, but the Batman, Danny’s just waiting for the inevitable. Surely, Batman will eventually find out who he is.
But it just... doesn’t happen. The family doesn’t really have any reason to assume that a ghost is somehow still alive. They assumed he might be a meta at first, but the kid literally has no pulse and doesn’t breathe. And sure, Danny disappears sometimes (to sleep) and it’s a little weird he eats-- but he also speaks in tongues and can fly through the ceiling, so what do they know? Constantine’s been no help, claiming he “doesn’t want to touch this situation with a ten foot pole”, so they’re just sort of figuring out ghost brother shenanigans on the fly.
They’re more curious who Danny was while living, but (due to a mixture of ghostly interference in Amity, Tucker purging files, the GIW fucking with Amity Park’s exposure to the outside world, and Danny giving them no answers), the bats haven’t been able to find jackshit about Phantom and it’s a bit of a sore spot where egos are concerned. There’s a secret race going on to find info on Phantom first. Danny is aware of it and thinks it’s very endearing and funny. He also desperately wants one of them to succeed already.
The longer it takes for them to (not) figure it out, Danny gets more and more annoyed. At the very start he wanted to keep his identity a secret-- new place, new people, how was he supposed to know how they’d react?-- but he quickly grew enamored with the family and now trusts them. Besides, they’ve already accepted him as a ghost so, really, what’s there to lose? He’s pretty sure one of his new brothers is like 1/4 ghost anyway.
Now Danny’s just been waiting-- begging-- for them to figure it out. He could just tell them. It would be so easy, but god he’s so committed to this now. Why is this taking so long.
It really starts to come to a head once the family develops non-ghost related nicknames for Danny. Jason in particular likes to joke about how Danny has severely broken the “blue-eyed, black-haired” mold and gives him nicknames like “Wildcard”, “Dove”, and “Uno Reverse”.
Danny is about ready to snap.
One day, a few of them are about to head out on a mission and Danny asks to tag along. Jason jokingly says, “Sorry Dove, black hair club only.”
Danny just transforms on the spot, keeping his face comically neutral (as much as he can while watching his new family have a collective breakdown.)
“How about now?”

EVEN WITH ALL THE CAREFUL moves [y/n] made to keep her years-long tormentor a secret from her boyfriend, he still found out, eventually.
that’s the thing about secrets; no matter how hard you try to hide them, they’ll eventually spill out — one way or another.
as [y/n] was taking a quick shower before her and jason’s movie date at her house, he showed up earlier than usual.
“she’s in the shower. she should be out any minute.” hanna, her younger sister tells him as he nods and walks up to her bedroom, to wait on her.
a few minutes pass by as he sits on her newly-made bed and waits on his girlfriend.
but, after her cell phone rings on her dresser, he no longer focuses on waiting for her as he goes up to it.
the second he got up, he knew it wasn’t right, looking at her phone.
but, the curiosity wins over the smarter side of him as he glances down at the screen.
i wonder how poor jason would feel when he finds out about me. —a.
but, before jason can react further to the text, [y/n]’s bathroom door opens.
“hey, you’re here ear—” she says, stopping immediately as she notices him standing by her dresser, her cell phone clutched in his hands.
“what are you doing with my phone?” she asks, her voice tensing up in fear of what he could’ve discovered.
and by the look he wears, it’s clear to her exactly what he found.
“i’m sorry for looking at your phone. i know it’s an invasion of privacy. but, who the hell is ‘a’?” he exclaims in anger, slamming her cell phone back down on the dresser.
“you shouldn’t have went on my phone. you had no right!” she exclaims, rushing over to her cell phone to read what he had looked at.
“you’re right. but, i think i deserve to know why you’re lying to me!” he exclaims back, eyes almost blazing out in anger as he throws his hands up in the air in exasperation.
after seeing the way jason looked at her in betrayal, [y/n] sighs in defeat.
“j, just give me a minute to get dressed and then i’ll tell you everything, okay?” she asks softly and he nods, still quite angry.
he sits back down on the edge of her bed as she walks over to her dresser, grabbing some pajamas to wear.
once she has them in her hands, she shuts her open drawers and walks back to the bathroom, shutting the door.
once she’s changed into her pjs, and brushed her hair and teeth, she shuts off the light and opens the door, exiting the bathroom to sit down beside her confused boyfriend.
“look, i’m sorry i lied to you. but, i only did it to protect you.” she starts off, sighing as jason knits his brows together in confusion.
“what do you mean protect me? i’m the one that’s supposed to protect you!” he exclaims incredulously, even more confused and maybe, even a little more angry.
“i mean, that this ‘a’ person isn’t screwing around! they have been my tormenter, along with emily, hanna, aria, spencer, and alison. they have us watched twenty-four-seven and they have all our secrets to use against us and constantly make our lives a living hell! they’re extremely dangerous and he or she doesn’t like it when we tell other people, like our boyfriends or girlfriends about all of this.” [y/n] admits, not daring to look into her boyfriend’s eyes, knowing he could leave at any moment.
“why wouldn’t you tell me this!?” he exclaims, getting up, frustrated that she went through god-knows-what all alone.
“because of this! i knew you’d get mad like you are now! do you have any idea what it’s like? knowing that someone like ‘a’ could easily tear us apart?” she exclaims, her voice breaking, tears building up and escaping down to her cheeks.
jason looks at her for a second, noticing the heartbroken look in her eyes.
without another thought, he sighs and walks towards her, pulling her into his chest, arms wrapping around her.
her body shakes uncontrollably, crying into his chest as she fists his shirt into her hands.
“i—i’m so—sorry…” she trails off, hiccuping.
“no, no. don’t apologize. i shouldn’t have jumped at your throat. i’m sorry, baby. i’m so sorry that you’ve been going through this all alone. i promise, i’m going to be here to support you more than i have, okay?” he murmurs as she nods, hugging him further.
they stay like that for minutes, before they pull away and jason wipes away her tears.
the rest of the night, they spend it cuddling on her bed as he whispers sweet nothings into her ear and they both fall asleep like that.

hi can u do michael, jason and brahms with s/o who's a bookwoorm and reads a lot. they even had a personal library, simp over fictional characters and make book references/jokes
My guy, this is like, the definition of us here on Tumblr and I love it 🤣
Slashers x Bookworm! Reader
Slashers
TW: in Jason’s it mentions a table with chairs that some would deem as “girly”, the chairs are meant to depict him expressing how much he loves you, not meant to be “girly”, this is all gender neutral.
↓Continue under the cut!↓
Michael Myers!
He appreciates the silence more than anything.
Whenever you’re reading he sometimes will get curious about what’s going on in the chapter you just finished, so he will gently nudge you when he sees you started the next one.
Listens intently to what your short recap was, watching your facial expressions as you explain it.
Thinks it’s adorable when he comes home late, food is cold but left out for him, and he finds you asleep either in your library, on the couch, or in the bed.
When he goes out and kills he will bring you all of their books to go through.
The only “good deed” you can get him to do is to donate the books you don’t want out of the new stolen pile.
In the spring you will go on your porch to read as he cleans the outside of the house or does the yard work.
Summer you will go on Picnics or to an abandoned park, you perched between his thighs, him leaning back resting on his palms, as you enjoy the suns rays while he reads with you, if you finished the pages before him he will move one of his legs to nudge you, saying you can turn the page.
Autumn/Fall, you both are perched on the porch, you wearing a sweater/cardigan/jumper/hoodie and him in his usual attire, you sit on his lap, legs dangling over the thigh you aren’t sat on, head on his chest, reading to him in a slow pace so he can keep up.
Winter, when he’s gone, you sit at a large window on a chair reading with hot coco in your hands.
When he is there you sit by the fire place snuggled up together with a blanket over you, hot coco, and reading a book together.
Jason Voorhees!
Both him and Pamela love it.
You aren’t like the others that trespassed, you were quiet and not wanting to be near the make out sessions.
Hell, when you went off deeper into the woods/to the dock that’s when the approached you.
When Jason is busy taking care of trespassing idiots or doing things around the cabin, you are passing the time with Pamela in the cabin.
You and her have like… a little book club together.
Jason has come into the cabin after… “Removing the garbage from the woods”, and he thought you and Pamela were having a satanic ritual!
It was night when he finished and saw you and Pamela sitting on the floor in front of each other, a little ring of lit candles around you both, holding books open and talking in a whispered tone… dude almost had a heart attack.
Ever since then he fixed the electricity so you won’t cause him to have a second death.
But on days when you’re all alone I’m the cabin, you do your chores, and then sit on the couch reading.
You read to Jason when he’s home and wants to spend time with you.
Baby will have you laying on the bed on your back, in a comfy position to fall asleep in, so he can wrap his arms around your mid section laying between your thighs, head on your stomach or chest, blanket over him to keep you both warm, and will fall asleep happily.
Every time you both sleep like that he has the best dreams, you know he prefers you read him happy stories at night.
First time you did that with him, you read a Stephen King book, you were at the scary part when he began his dream, he jolted awake and you both fell off the bed.
Took him a while to let you read to him at night again.
He cleared out a cabin close to the one you all live in, the cabin he cleared is smaller, but still big enough for a full family.
He moved all your books from the basement into said cabin, now you have your own little cabin for when you wanna be alone and read, or when you’re nearing the end of the book you have currently and wanna put it away before grabbing a new one.
Jason widled you a table and chairs, the table is a section of a large, old tree, he sanded down both sides and used the same tree to add the legs that curve to the middle of the table top, held together by a long, thin, floppy yet super strong twig -you know those sticks that whipped you when pulled back, the ones you can’t break off for the life of you?-
The chairs are made from the same tree, the back formed into a heart with swirls inside to make a cute design, when he was making them he wanted to show what you made his stomach feel whenever you’re around, swirly.
Sometimes he checks on you in your little cabin library and his heart melts at the sight of you passed out cold.
He picks you up carefully and cuddles you when you get back to your shared room.
Brahms Heelshire!
He noticed how you had a giant box filled with books when you first moved in.
He also notices how you don’t always read doll Brahms a children’s book, but a chapter or two from the book you’ve been reading whenever you have spare time.
If it’s gruesome you alter it to be more “child friendly” or if it curses you change the curse to something cute, he thinks it cute.
When he shows himself for the first time he just stands there awkwardly because you didn’t notice him right away, too focused on the pages in front of your face.
But once the feeling of being watched finally caused you to look over at him you went wide-eyed and slowly turned back to your book.
After a while you two would agree to get rid of the rules so you had more cuddle and story sessions.
He perched you on his lap, arms wrapped around your mid section, chin on your shoulder as he reads with you.
When he shows you his large ass library he gives you permission to organize the books, take out what you want, make your own little area, add your own books, and buy some furniture you’ll happily sit in and read along with Brahms.

Little Omega
Summary: there’s yet another kid that Bruce Wayne has taken in and Jason finds a scared little omega.
Pairing: Alpha!Jason Todd x Omega!Reader
Tumblr media
Jason had come up from the Batcave to be fed. Alfred always feeds him. However, a distressed scent has him following it instead of the food. It’s quite clear that it’s an omega. It’s uneasy for him as an alpha.
“Hey, you alright?” Jason said knocking on the door he’s sure an omega lies behind.
There’s only whimpering. Jason doesn’t like that sound. He opened the door slowly and went in. The lights are on. He looked around at the room. It’s clear that Alfred has set it up for someone and someone is in the room— just not visible at his height.
A small little sound has him turning to the closet. He headed over and dropped down to his elbows. He now spotted your little legs and you’re shaking.
“Little Omega, you scared?” He asked softly and pushed away the big coats that you hide behind/in.
You have these big doe eyes with tears welling up. You look terrified and so young. Jason stays low to the ground for your sake. He’s a big man and an alpha.
“Your nest is quite bare, Little One,” Jason said.
It’s a known fact that omegas nest even from a young age. It brings them comfort and safe place to stay in such a big world.
“N-Nest?” You stuttered.
“Your safe spot. Isn’t it here?” he said softly.
You don’t know how to respond.
“Would you like some pillows? Maybe some blankets as well,” Jason suggested. “I don’t want you getting cold, Little One.”
You hesitated before agreeing with him. Jason smiled.
“You wanna help me find the perfect ones?” Jason asked.
You nodded your head and he propped himself up on his knees. He reached out his hand and you take it. He helped you stand up and you’re still so small. You go into his arms and he happily picked you up. He stood to his full height with you on his hip and you held onto his shirt.
“Alright, I know where we should start,” Jason said looking at you.
He took you to Bruce’s room. He’s assuming Bruce brought you in. You probably trusted him first. His scent might be a bit more calming to you.
“You want this?” Jason asked.
He held up a once folded black turtleneck sweater. You grabbed it and brought the material close to your body. It made him smile at the sight.
Jason opened up the bench at the foot of the bed which holds extra sheets and blankets. He started digging through trying to find the softest blanket. It’s mainly just linens until he pulled out a cape and it’s a lot heavier than he expected.
“You want it?” Jason asked.
You nodded your head. Jason put it over his shoulder and went over to the head of the bed. He grabbed two pillows that were approved by you. He then left the room. He dropped the cape and pillows off in your room before going into his own.
“What about this blanket?” Jason asked pulling back his comforter to reveal a fuzzy red blanket that had been hidden.
You reached out and he leaned forward. You put your small hand on it and petted the blanket. You then looked at Jason.
“Soft enough?” He questioned.
You nodded your head. Jason grabbed the blanket and yanked it out. It goes over his shoulder. He pulled back his pillows to reveal a red dragon stuffed animal. Jason grabbed it and asked if you wanted it. You take it.
“You gotta keep him safe for me, alright?” Jason said.
You only hold it tighter as well as Bruce’s sweater. It made him chuckle. He grabbed one of his pillows and left his room. He went past Tim’s room. He’d go in but that teenager’s room is a mess and he doesn’t want you exposed to it. Jason took you into Dick’s room. He barged in and Dick was trying to sleep.
“What the hell?” Dick said sitting up.
“You want a blanket? Or a pillow? Or clothes?” Jason asked.
“You aren’t taking anything,” Dick said.
“Hmmm, but how am I supposed to help the little omega build a nest without materials?” Jason asked. “And aren’t you supposed to be detecting things in Blüdhaven?”
Dick sighed and got out of bed. He opened up his closet and pulled out a T-shirt. You shook your head no at it.
“Next, Richard,” Jason said.
Dick kept pulling out more clothing items and showing them to you only for you to shake your head at them. You ended up pointing at the shirt he’s wearing.
“You don’t want to make her sad,” Jason said.
Dick sighed. He took off the shirt and gave it to you. He also pulled out his old teddy bear and gave it to you. You happily took both items.
“Anything else, Y/n?” Dick asked.
You shook your head no and Jason left his room.
“I think we’ve got enough to get you started, Little Omega,” Jason said returning to your room.
“Okay,” you said.
“Are we still building it in the closet?” He asked.
You nodded. He put you down on your feet and closed the door.
“Tell me where you want things and I’ll place ‘em for you,” Jason said getting down on his knees.
It’s an hour later when Bruce came into your room to tuck you in and read you a story. You aren’t in bed or on the floor by the dollhouse he got you. He saw a leg sticking out of the closet. He went over to see that you’re on top of Jason’s chest wearing one of his sweaters. His cape is being used as a blanket. The two of you are asleep and you both look so peaceful. Bruce hasn’t seen Jason look like this in a long time and it brought a smile to his face.
Bruce pulled a blanket off your bed and covered you both with it especially Jason. He turned off the lights and turned on the nightlight. He left the room but not without another look at the two of you. The door then shut close.

Got Your Back, Babe
Jason Kolchek x Reader
Hello! Here to drop another fic based on this ask! I hope I did this one justice - I got stuck with a bit of writer’s block halfway through :)
Word Count: 3k
MASTERLIST
=============================================================
You were frustrated, to say the least. It had been hours since you’d seen the sun, trapped in cave after cave, tunnel after tunnel. Your only comfort came from the presence of your other teammates.
Nick was fiddling with his gun, pacing around in circles. You guessed it was his way of relieving some stress.
Eric hovered over the body of the… whatever it was. Nightmare fuel. He was thoroughly investigating the creature, analyzing its claws, it’s teeth and rough looking skin. The only thing you were interested in investigating was how to kill the damn thing.
And then there was Jason, doing what Jason does best, compartmentalizing. He stood watch at the end of the temple, eyes trained on the door with a stoic face and rigid posture. You could practically see the gears turning in his head as he held his position.
You walked up to the lieutenant, calling his name to break him out of his trance. He startled, covering it up with a shift in his weight. Turning to meet your gaze, you watched his expression soften, and his shoulders relaxed, if just microscopically.
“How’re you doing?” You asked. All your focus was on him right now. Every fibre of your being was desperate to keep him safe, keep him sane. His eyes darted to the left, right, and back.
“I’m fine. Doin’ perfectly fine.” His answer was straight and to the point. A lie, you could tell, but you didn’t push it. You simply reached for his hand, brushing over the calloused skin of his palm with your fingertips.
“I’ve got your back. You know that right?” He looked back up to you, giving your hand a squeeze and nodding with a small smile.
“Same goes here.”
Nick stepped up to your little group, having finished pacing in his circles. You let go of Jason’s hand, giving him one more pat on the arm before turning to the Sergeant. Jason cleared his throat beside you.
“What’s goin’ on Nicky?”
“We should set up a perimeter, close off any crevices where those things can sneak into.” Nick was also straight to the point. There were plenty of emotions going on behind the scenes, you could tell. He’d been through hell tonight, losing Rachel in more ways than one. Jason nodded.
“Sounds like an idea. We got some cameras too we can set up. Added defence.”
The two men made noises of agreement, tightening their grips on their rifles before moving forwards. You raised an eyebrow - you were standing right there with them. Men.
“Mind that I tag along?” They turned back at your question. Jason’s eyes were hard as he opened his mouth, already beginning to voice his protest. You smirked, sending him a wink before interrupting. “It wasn’t really a question, sweetie.” He narrowed his eyes, but you could see the amusement behind it.
He nodded, gesturing you along as you all continued into the tunnels. You let out a small breath, relieved to be behind the Lieutenant, watching his back. It calmed you down, knowing you had his back, and he had yours, since you’d both joined the marines.
The three of you wandered through endless tunnels, stopping occasionally to place a camera, or cover up a hole in the wall. With every new room, you would frantically check the ceilings, walls and dark corners, looking for any sort of movement. You could feel Jason’s gaze boring into your back, and more than once you would rest a hand on his shoulder.
The three of you hesitated as you reached a particularly large room. The floors were littered with skeletons, and you shuddered as Jason stepped forward to a large pit. You stood close, ready to reach out and catch his bag should he lose his balance. The man simply spit into the well before continuing on his way.
Nick stood looking down over one skeleton, and you hovered by, intrigued. Investigating further, you noticed the glaring red stake protruding from the body, specifically sticking out of its chest. You shuddered.
“I wonder what left this little gift,” you pondered, watching as Jason bent down to pick up the stake. He tossed it up and down a few times, as if he was contemplating something, before offering it up to you.
“Just in case,” he mumbled. “You could use something more than a handgun.” You accepted the object, twirling it around in your hands. It wasn’t much, but it was sturdy enough. You kept the makeshift spear on hand, continuing through to another hallway with the two men.
You couldn’t help but admire the statues as you passed through the hall, placed around magnificent pillars. Jason leaned over a crate, picking up a strange cylindrical object and chatting briefly with Nick.
You went on ahead, eyeing the door with unease. Just how far did these tunnels go? Jason and Nick were discussing where to place explosives, in order to catch some monsters off guard.
“Rig the pillars for maximum coverage.”
“They’re more likely to see the tripwires though.”
The two deliberated before you decided to cut in.
“I’d go out on a limb and say they won’t be able to see them, since they don’t have eyes or anything,” you said. Nick gave you a deadpan look, and Jason’s lips tugged upwards.
“Pillars it is.”
---
After rigging the pillars with explosives, and placing another camera at the door, the three of you made your way back around the side of the temple. You walked along a large cliff, your attention caught by a broken wooden structure. There were wires hanging from the other side of the cavern, nowhere near accessible. You cursed under your breath, turning to the side and-
“Shit! Jason, look out!” You shoved the marine to the side, taking the full brunt of the force as a figure crashed into you. The world was spinning, the ground smacking into your shoulders and back as you rolled around. You faintly heard a cry of your name, only to be drowned out by some inhuman growling. Finally coming to a halt, you laid back, arms outstretched to keep the creature at bay.
“Joey?!”
What used to be Joey was staring back at you, with grey skin and hungry eyes. Long, sharp teeth filled your vision, with a matching pair of horns not far behind. You screamed, pushing the creature off you, the back of your mind focused on keeping your balance on the unsteady plank of wood. Joey leaned back, growling once more.
The stake.
You cried out as you stabbed the object into his arm, his shoulder, his chest. Joey rolled off you, grunting and stumbling around. You took the opportunity to scrabble backwards, risking a quick look back to see how far from solid ground you were. A pair of arms wrapped around your torso, and suddenly you were back on your feet. Jason’s breath was heavy in your ear as you watched Joey regain his footing.
All of a sudden, Eric was in front of you, waving his UV wand. You backed into Jason’s chest as Joey erupted in flames, letting out a bloodcurdling scream. He stumbled around before falling off the wooden structure, down into the cavern below.
“Holy shit,” you muttered before you were whirled around in Jason’s arms.
“You dumbass! What’d you go and do that for?!”
“He was coming straight for you!” you protested, and he looked startled.
“So?”
“So obviously I wasn’t gonna let you get taken out by that thing! Whatever he was.” Jason stayed silent, the only indication he had heard you in the way his grip tightened on your arms. The two of you stood for a moment, and you chose to ignore the strange looks from Eric and Nick.
After a long moment, his hand slid down your arm to grasp your own. He stepped away, collecting his rifle and making his way back to the temple. You sighed, sheathing your own weapons - including the stake, which had miraculously survived the attack - and making eye contact with the other two men.
“That was badass,” Nick praised, nodding his head before following in Jason’s footsteps. Eric echoed the compliment, gesturing for you to follow as he took one more look over the cliff. You stepped back into the temple, passing Jason on the way. His arm stretched out to rest on your back, and he leaned forward to whisper in your ear.
“Thank you.”
And you smiled.
---
A lot had happened in the past few hours. You’d been shot at, reunited with Rachel, lost Clarice and fought off a horde of those monsters. Having been pushed down to the catacombs, you stuck close with your little group. Everyone looked worse for wear, huffing for breath and nursing scratches and bruises. Poor Rachel had been covered head to toe in what seemed to be blood. You couldn’t imagine the things she’d seen that night.
And yet, here you all were again, guns raised and pointed toward Salim and his partner. Salim spoke up as the other man yelled in Arabic
“My friend is not very happy.”
“I can see that,” you replied, adding a threatening edge to your tone. Your gun was raised at his partner, glaring at him as he mirrored your stance.
“What happened up there?” Salim breathed. You didn’t answer, it wasn’t important to the present situation. You caught Jason from the corner of your eye, appearing behind the man with his gun raised. Rachel stepped in beside you, aiming her gun at Salim. Then Eric, and finally Nick turned around. Salim instantly surrendered his hands, much to the frustration of his partner.
“I think our uniforms are getting in the way of what could be a beautiful relationship!” he said, and you couldn’t hide your chuckle. Salim’s partner yelled something else, only to be cut off by Jason.
“I say we drill these sorry-looking motherfuckers. What do you think, Colonel?” the Lieutenant asked. Eric paused, and you spared a glance in his direction. His eyebrows were furrowed, concentrating hard.
“We could use their help.” There were a few grunts of disagreement, but you sighed, relaxing your posture slightly.
And then the screams began again.
Salim hustled to the door, encouraging everyone to help. You lowered your weapon, and made for the door, Rachel and Nick close behind you.
“Don’t even think about it.” Jason’s voice was sharp as he warned us. I gave him a hard stare, about to speak my mind, until Nick beat me to it.
“Fuck, Jason. The enemy of our enemy is our friend!” he cried, before moving to push on the door. Jason’s posture stiffened even more, and his eyes darted over to you. You stared back, unwavering. He sighed, lowering his weapon and throwing the other man one last glare. You followed as he pressed against the door, everyone nearly stumbling as it finally fell open.
As you trekked into the new room, your stomach clenched. There were skeletons all over the floor, surrounded by podiums and statues. Your eyes couldn’t seem to stay in one place, and you slowed to a stop.
“This place looks..”
“Like the worst place in the goddamn world,” Jason finished your sentence. You reached over to brush his hand, grounding yourself and hopefully providing him some relief as well. As your gaze wandered, something caught your eye.
High up on the wall, a vampire creeped out from one of the openings. And then another, until there were at least a dozen surrounding the group. You swallowed, hard. This was bad. Everyone backed into a tight circle. You hovered, one hand on your pistol and the other on your stake.
With a cry, the first monster attacked. You dodged out of the way, stumbling back into a large stone. Your brain was going at a mile a minute, trying to comprehend the flying beasts around you and which one you should focus on. And then you heard it.
Jason let out a long yell, and you whipped your head around to see a vampire dragging him out of the room.
“Fuck! Jason!” you yelled, sprinting over to the hall. You were startled as a tall, thin man emerged. He was covered in ancient armour and sporting the same teeth and horns you’d seen on Joey. The beast stood, staring at you, ready to attack.
“Oh fuck no.” You had to get past this thing, you had to get to Jason. Without a sound, you lunged, ducking under the predictable swing of the creature’s arm. You sent your stake through its shoulder before kicking it into the wall. “(Name)!” Nick called over the frenzy, and you spared a moment to turn around, meeting his terrified gaze. “I’m going after Jason!,” you yelled back. “Keep your ass safe Nick!”
And with that, you went sprinting down the hall, following the sounds of struggle. You had to get to him, you couldn’t let that thing hurt him. Not before-
You skidded to a stop as the hallway opened up. There was the monster, hovering over the marine. He was pushing at the beast’s chest with one hand, the other desperately searching for his knife.
Oh fuck no.
“HEY!” you called, and the beast swung its head around. You greeted it with a swift kick to the face, and it screeched. You couldn’t risk firing your pistol, not with Jason still mere inches away from it.
As it regained its senses, you leapt forward. You heard Jason’s cry of your name as you landed on the vampire’s back, stabbing your trusty stake into its flesh. The creature screeched again, falling back off the marine and nearly taking you with it. As it landed on its back, the stake was pushed through, poking through the front of its chest.
Oh shit oh shit oh shit you got this.
You jumped, one foot pinning down the beast’s head as you forced the stake out of its body. Ignoring the now slippery feel of the item, you raised it over your head, aiming straight for where the heart should be.
“Don’t you fucking touch what’s mine!” you called, bringing the stake down. The monster screamed one last time as the item pierced its heart, before finally falling limp. You huffed, catching your breath as you stepped off the creature’s head. You wiped your hands off on your jeans.
Jason had been strangely silent, and as you turned to look at him, you saw a mix of emotions on his face. His eyes were wide, darting between you and the monster. His mouth opened and closed a few times as he stayed leaned back on his elbows. As you offered him a hand, he finally snapped out of his daze, accepting your help to pull himself back to his feet.
You didn’t let go of his hand, instead pulling him close and throwing your arms around his shoulders. You heard him whisper the word “mine” under his breath before he pulled back, grabbing both of your hands in his.
“Jesus Christ, (Name)! Why would you go and do that again?!” he cried, his hands sliding up to grasp your forearms. “You could’ve gotten yourself killed!” You met his gaze head on.
“It was either that or let you get killed by that thing. It wasn’t even a question,” you said, your voice raising with every word. How were you going to get this through his thick skull?
“Of course it wasn’t! I’m not worth that!” he cried out again, and you could hear the pain behind his statement. Something sparked in your stomach and your eyebrows furrowed.
“When are you going to get it through your thick skull that you’re worth it to me?!” you yelled, and he froze. “In fact, you’re more than worth it, Jason!” He stayed stuck for a moment, still gripping your forearms. A million emotions raced behind his eyes before his head fell.
You watched a drop fall from his face before he was pulling you into a crushing hug. You felt his chest trembling as he held you close, wrapping your arms around his neck again. He buried his chin into your shoulder, his lips pressed against the exposed skin on your collarbone.
“You dummy,” you whispered, as your adrenaline started to fall. “I love you too much to let anything happen to you.”
And the man broke.
His grip on you tightened, if that were even possible, and you felt him shudder as a few tears hit your shoulder. You held him tight, running your fingernails over his shoulders and up his neck.
“I love you too… you’ve got no idea.” he mumbled into your shoulder.
You held onto each other for a moment, embracing the one moment of reprise. As Jason pulled back, you met his gaze, wiping away a few stray tears.
“I’m fuckin’ terrified down here,” he finally admitted. “Terrified that I’m never gonna see the sun again, that I’m gonna lose you.” You rested your hands on his cheeks.
“That’s what you’ve got me for. I’m gonna make sure you- we make it out of here,” you reassured him, and a smile graced his lips. “I’ve got your back.”
“And I’ve got yours. Always.” He gave you one more smile before you pulled away from his arms. Your gaze hovered over the dead creature, before you found another hallway.
“Alright, let’s go find a way to get the fuck out of here,” you said, marching towards the hall.
“(Name)?”
“Yeah?” You turned around, and his hand found yours again, as he pulled you in to meet your lips with his own. You gave a sharp inhale, your free hand resting on his chest to steady yourself. His free hand found your jaw, sliding up behind your ear to secure your head as close as possible, pouring everything into the one simple kiss.
He pulled away after a moment, and you involuntarily followed his lips. You pulled him in to place one more kiss on them, not ready to leave this moment quite yet.
With a sigh, you broke away, offering the marine a bright grin, which he couldn’t help but return.
“Okay, now we can go find a way to get the fuck out of here,” he said, taking your hand in his.

Anxieties (Jason Todd X Sister!Reader)
Characters: Jason Todd X Sister!Reader
Universe: DC, Batman
Warnings: Depression and Anxiety talk, bit of swearing
Request: Would you be comfortable writing batfam (more specifically Jason, if thats okay) where they look out for their younger sister when they know she's going though a difficult time with anxiety and depression even though she won't admit anything is wrong until she has a heart to heart with maybe Jason? I'd love some sibling fluff if that's okay please! Thank you so much 💕
Tumblr media
Jason never liked it when Bruce announced there was a new member of the family, the only sort of exception being Damian, since somehow living with his fucked up father was better than being with his psycho mom. So when Bruce brought you home, Jason had stormed off.
It wasn’t jealousy, and there was no hate directed at you- purely at Bruce. It seemed so irresponsible and cruel, taking children who need help and support and turning them into his little soldier to help him beat up his enemies. Hell, he was as much a victim in this as the others, even if the others didn’t feel the same way. What he particularly hated this time round was that it was clear that you were struggling, and needed a lot of help, but that Bruce would be too busy playing dress up to give you that attention. So Jason decided he’d have to be the one to be there for you.
Recently you’d been struggling a lot, you’d shut yourself off entirely, to the public, and to your family. They wouldn’t get you to converse, nevermind get you to open up about what was going through your mind. You spent most of your time locked away in your room, barely eating, and Alfred had left food outside your door, though it was a split chance that it would still be there hours later. Bruce tried to assure Jason that he’d deal with it and get you to open up, but after a week with no confirmation that you had eaten, Jason came up the manor, told Bruce to shut the fuck up and to leave it to him, and then he let himself into your bedroom.
You looked over as the door opened, Jason swiftly entering, before closing the door behind him. “Heard you were having a rough time, wanna talk about it here?” He asked as he came and sat down on your bed. You looked at him, still totally silent. “How about a bike ride to the park across the city? Away from any eavesdroppers. Just you and me, and you can tell me anything in your mind, even if it doesn’t make sense.” He offered. You subtly nodded, slowly getting out of bed, and Jason grabbed your coat and waited for you outside. As soon as you were done, he took your head leading you out the house. “Be back whenever, old man.” He announced to wherever Bruce was in the house.
The drive to the park was silent, and Jason didn’t try to make you talk, the tight grip you had around his torso told him you had a massive build up of emotions, but also that you were scared about talking about it. As you arrived, Jason had to almost pry you from the motorbike, before taking your hand, and just walking with you for a while around the park, before finding a bench tucked between some bushes and under a tree, and sitting down with you. “Alright, start when you’re ready.” He told you. You fumbled a little bit with your hands, looking down before you started speaking.
“I feel… overwhelmed. But also numb. It goes back and forth, sometimes it’s both at the same time. Sometimes it feels like I’m being a burden and that I’m letting everyone down by not being happy to be adopted into this family, and other times I just feel so numb and empty, and I feel so unworthy.” You told him. Jason leant forward, resting his elbows on his thighs and looking at you as you spoke.
“Alright… why are you shutting yourself off from them?” He asked.
“It wasn’t the intention. One day I was just feeling really overwhelmed, so I went up to my room in the middle of dinner, and then I felt guilty, and I thought they’d hate me if I showed my face again, and I didn’t want to fight with them… they probably hate me.”
“Do you want me to be honest with you?” He asked you, and you looked at him, and after a moment of hesitation, you nodded. “That. Is a load of bullshit. Those thoughts in your head right now, are a load of shit. I might not totally agree with Bruce adopting another kid, and he can be stubborn, but I know he cares about us, no matter what. I’m basically the black sheep of the family, I’ve gone against everything Bruce has says, yet he’s never even threatened to disown me. If I called him in the middle of the night and said I needed help, he’d be right there, and the same is for Dick, Tim, Damian, Steph and Cassandra. This family is flawed in so many ways, but something we do have going for us is that we’re loyal and there for each other. You’re a part of this family. We’re here for you.” Jason assured you, shuffling closer and putting his arm around you, pulling you into a side hug.
“You promise they won’t be mad?”
“If they are then you can come live with me until they get their shit together. Come on, let’s get you home so you can get back to life.”
Hope you like it! If you have any questions, please send them in!

What’s your favorite fan theory form a horror movie?
Sam Loomis From Psycho And Halloween Are The Same Person. after suffering a traumatic experience with losing his beloved Marion, tracking down Norman Bates in mother mode, restraining him and turning him into the police and the loony doctors, is that Loomis would handle his grief and experience by making sure in his own sort of ways, that an incident like this should never happen again. And so Loomis would go on to leave the terror behind in Arizona and move to Illinois to earn his bachelor’s in child psychology. Catch ’em while they’re young sort of deal. Upon graduating, he goes on to treating a patient at Smith’s Grove Sanitarium, one of his first patients is a young boy, six years of age with the blackest eyes… the devil’s eyes. Michael Myers could have reminded him of Norman Bates, which is why Loomis was so involved with Michael’s treatment and eventually was willing to do whatever he could to stop another serial killer.
Childs Was The Thing. The film ends ambiguously with no clear explanation as to whether MacReady or Childs is the alien in disguise. Some people believe that the whiskey Childs drinks at the end of the film isn’t actually whiskey, but gasoline from a Molotov cocktail. This would also mean that MacReady was chuckling at the end of the film because he now had the upper hand since he knew Childs was the alien.
Freddy Krueger Steals Children's Dreams To Gain Power. Freddy collects the dreams of the teens he slays to expand his supernatural powers. In the original film, Freddy is significantly less powerful than he appears to be in later movies. Freddy's more outlandish abilities, such as walking on the ceiling in the first movie or shapeshifting a whole bunch in the third, are actually dream powers he stole from kids whose souls he consumed."
The jump rope girls are Freddy's original victims. It has been implied that these little girls may have been original murder victims of Freddy Krueger, back when he was still human and operating under the media-derived nickname, the Springwood Slasher. The ghosts of these girls appear before specific individuals who are fated to meet Freddy Krueger in their nightmares. Nancy Thompson was the first to take note of these when she saw them while walking to school in the original A Nightmare on Elm Street. The girls also appeared at the end of the film, signifying that Freddy is never truly gone for good.
Jack Torrance could Shine too. Danny has an ability known as "Shining" which causes him to see Images of everything That's happened in the Hotel. Jack also sees Images such as when the Bar Man gives him a drink and when the woman in bath bathroom chases him. The Movie portrays this as him going mad, but if this is him going mad how could Danny of seen the woman in the bathroom earlier on? This leads me to believe that Jack can Shine, just like Danny. The only difference is it's made him go crazy, because he Thinks he is. Also I'd like to bring up Danny has Tony, but Jack has Delbert Grady. So, Jack Torrance doesn't realize he has the Shining, which is why his mind starts to break when his psychic ability interacts with the hotel's. Then, his own dark leanings drum up a bunch of demons from his own mind, turning the inherently neutral building into a horrifying place. The hotel isn't destroying Jack, Jack is destroying himself.
Jason is a Deadite. If you watch Jason Goes To Hell The Final Friday, then you will have seen the Necronomicon in the Voorhees manor. So Lets assume that Pamela somehow got her hands on the book of the dead. She uses it to bring Jason back, only Jason didn't drown and has been living in the woods. So the Necronomicon didn't take effect on Jason until Tommy Jarvis kills him in Part 4, hence why Jason becomes an unstoppable killing machine in Part VI-X.
The Blair Witch is no specific person. I think it works better to have the Blair Witch to be this supernatural force and possesses her prey to be her vessels when they are at their most vulnerable, which is why I believe Heather became the new Blair Witch at the end of the movie.
The Other Mother in Coraline was the original owner of the Pink Palace. She found the portal to the other world and got trapped there.
The red balloons in IT contains the souls of all the children killed by Pennywise. "They float, they all float."
The Usual Suspects and Se7en exist in the same universe. Keyser Soze and John Doe from Se7en are the same person.
Michael Myers is the living embodiment of Samhain. In the original Halloween novelization, this was toyed with. In Halloween II, Michael breaks into a school and scrawls the word 'Samhain' on the blackboard of a classroom in blood... Earlier in the film, Loomis explains the meaning of Samhain and describes ritualistic bonfires the druids would build to commit sacrifice with on that night. This is handled poorly in Halloween 4, 5 and Curse Of Michael Myers, but the point stands that it has a factor.  In Gaelic mythology, Samhain is an annual festival held between October 31 and November 1, that is meant to recognize the arrival of the "darker half" of the year. During Samhain, the boundaries between the worlds of the living and dead are blurred, and the day is usually commemorated with a grand bonfire. Since the holiday went on to inspire the modern-day concept of Halloween, it would make sense that Michael Myers draws his powers from the ancient tradition.
Michael Myers Is the Physical Manifestation of Pure Evil. Michael is pure evil. There’s no complex psychology, there’s no cure—he is evil, pure and simple. To put it simply, I will leave you with John Carpenter's words.   "Michael Myers is not a character. He is a force of nature. He is not a person. He's part supernatural, part human. He's like the wind, an evil wind." This is not a human being, this is a shape and just like the word boogeyman, evoke something which isn't really human and doesn't, isn't therefore susceptible to reason, isn't therefore something you can argue or debate with or even ask for mercy from them. Michael Myers is essentially the Boogeyman. He's the guy who chases you in your dream, but can't get away from and no matter how many times you beat him down, it keeps coming.

You heaved heavily hunched over the bathroom sink. Your fingers grip the edge of the counter top, knuckles turning white. Your eyes are screwed shut as you try not fall apart for the millionth time that week.
It’s only been a month since Jason died and you felt as if you saw his freshly dead body a few hours ago. Your dreams are riddled with nightmares. You can’t even escape the thoughts while awake.
All you can think about is Jason’s beaten and burned body. You can hear the Jokers mocking laugh when you and Batman found him after Jason’s death. Bruce refused to kill him and stopped you from doing it yourself. Batman turned him into Arkham and like everyone could predict, the pale bastard escaped.
Slowly, your eyes open. You look at yourself in the mirror. You try to push back the tears as visions of Jason plague your mind.
You were Bruce’s daughter. You were a few years younger than Dick but a few years older than Jason. You and Dick had a rocky friendship the first couple of years but you managed to work it out. With Jason, however, the connection was instant.
The both of you had tempers. Tempers which the other knew how to calm. The two of you just had an understanding. You became close quickly.
You didn’t want to believe that Jason was dead. You didn’t want to believe that Bruce just let Joke get away with it. You wanted your brother back, you wanted Bruce to avenge him.
“I’m sorry, Jason,” You whisper. You wished you could have been there to save Jason. If only you had gotten to him sooner. Just 5 minutes would have made all the difference.
Your anger bubbles up to the surface all at once and before you know it, your punching the mirror until it’s all broken in the bathroom sink. Ignoring the stinging pain in your hand, you march out of the bathroom.
You storm out of your room and head toward the Batcave. You didn’t have to worry about running into your father. He’s either hiding in his room or out capturing other bad guys that have nothing to do with Jason’s death. Because apparently everyone else mattered while you, Dick and Jason were expendable.
Not to you, however. Your brothers were not expendable to you. They’re your world and the fact that you couldn’t protect Jason killed you. If Bruce wasn’t going to avenge him then that responsibility fell onto you.
You changed into your Sparrow uniform. By the time your pulling your mask on and making your way to your motorcycle, Alfred is entering the cave. You ignore him but he isn’t a man you can just ignore.
“Ms. Y/n?” He questions. You adjust your getup and swing your leg over the bike. Before you can turn the bike on, the man you’re closer to than your own father appears before you. “Where are you going?”
“Out,” You answer. He gives you a look but you don’t back down.
“I don’t think that’s a good idea,” He advises.
“Then it’s a good thing I’m not asking for permission,” You snap. “Why don’t you go tend to daddy dearest and let me do what needs to be done?” Alfred looks even more concerned as you turn the bike on. You don’t allow yourself to feel guilty for being rude to Alfred. You have to stay focused.
You speed away from the manor and toward Gotham City. The Joker could be in a number of places but you knew who to ask to narrow down his location.
Before Jason’s death, you weren’t as ruthless as you were now. You were a happy medium between Bruce’s temperament and Jason’s. But now, you didn’t even recognize yourself anymore.
You wanted blood.
You interrogated bad guy after bad guy. You left each of them in the streets, inches from death like the scum they were. You felt no sympathy for them as they struggled to breathe. You ignored their pleas for mercy and for help as you walked to your bike to find your next target.
You were so consumed on what you were doing and your goal to find the Joker that you didn’t realize you were being watched. And Bruce wasn’t the one stalking you.
“Where’s the Joker?!” You shouted before slamming your fist into the guys face. “Tell me!” You screamed. He grunted when you resorted to breaking his rips with your foot. You kicked him before he rolled onto his back prompting you to switch to stomping on his chest.
“Oh, you poor child,” A voice sounded from the shadows. In an instant, you whip the gun you had stolen out of the thigh holster and point it into the dark blindly.
“Show yourself,” You demand. You listen to the steps before a tall man comes into the moonlight. “Who are you?” You ask.
“Someone who can help you,” Your head tilts. “You can put that gun away, it cannot harm me.” He states.
“Who. Are. You?”
“As I said, I’m someone who can help,” He says, sauntering closer to you. Your eyes narrow at him. “I know where the Joker is, I can take you to him,”
“Where is he?”
“I’ll tell you, but that information isn’t free,” He shakes his head.
“Tell me or you’ll end up like this deadbeat,” You motion to the man on the ground that’s slowly choking on his own blood. The man in front of you looks at him and smirks.
“You surely have potential... and you certainly have anger. Oh, so much anger,” He whispers coming forward. “You live on the need for vengeance. I can give it to you and so much more. All I want is to make a deal,”
“What kind of deal?” You ask, tilting your head.
“I give you the Joker, and you give me your allegiance,” He says, stepping up to the end of the barrel of the gun. If you pull the trigger, the bullet goes straight through his heart.
“My allegiance?” You ask, slowly.
“You get the chance to finally sate your need for vengeance and you work for me.”
You stare into his eyes for a few moments before lowering your gun to the holster. He smirks and scoops you into his arms. Before you can ask a question he’s running at a speed that could outmatch the Flash.
“What the fuck?” You gasp when he comes to a stop and sets you down. “You’re a metahuman?”
“Not exactly,” He smirks. “I’ll explain everything once you’re finished. Inside is the Joker along with a lot of his friends. If you survive, you’ll be an excellent addition to my collection,” He states, prior to running off.
“Who the fuck is that guy?” You mutter to yourself. Sighing, you turn towards the building. A moment later, people start coming out. Large men in suits. They stop and look at you. A few draw their weapons. You smirk. “Who’s first?”
It took you a half an hour to reach the Joker. You’re not sure if you killed anyone, although it’s highly likely that you have. By the time you reach the pale skin fucker you’re covered in blood and bruises (maybe a bullet hole or two). Some of the blood is yours but most of it isn’t.
The Joker talks. He’s taunting you. Yet, you don’t really hear what he says. As you look at him, your mind is filled with images of Jason’s dead body. You stalk closer to him.
You put your weapons away and pick up the crowbar you had found on a lower level. You had set it down in order to take care of the goons in the room quickly.
But now you had the Joker right where you wanted him. You weren’t going to make this quick. Every time you brought the crowbar down on him, he only cackled loudly. Every strike just fueled your anger.
You continued to beat him. At some point, his skull caved in but you continued to swing. You scream, tears falling down your face but you hardly notice. You just swing and swing until you collapse on the ground.
You let out one large, loud scream that echoes throughout the entire building. When you quiet down, your body curls into a tight ball and you begin to sob.
“Easy now, little one,” The inhuman man whispers, kneeling before you. “I’ll take your pain away,” He promises, picking you off the ground. “Rest now, I’ll look after you,” He whispers, racing you out of the building seconds before Batman shows up.
You don’t know how long you’re asleep, but when you wake up everything is different. You sit up from the unusually comfortable bed and look around. You don’t recognize where you are but at the moment it’s the least of your worries.
You never had absolutely perfect vision but now you’re eyes were acting like binoculars. You could see a far distance out the window and everything in clear detail that’s around you. Hell, you could even hear the cars going down the road miles from the house you’re in.
You move closer to the window but stop at the sound of the man who had taken you. “I wouldn’t do that if I were you,” You spin around toward him. You frown your eyebrows and look back to the window. You didn’t understand what he was warning you about.
You soon find out when you step into the sunlight and find your skin heating up until it begins to burn. You gasp and speed to the other side of the room.
“What’s happening to me?” You whisper, watching your skin begin to blister.
“Here, drink this,” He tosses you a bag. Your reflexes catch it. You want to ask what it is but your instincts take over as the smell reaches your nose. Within a minute, you have the bag drained of it’s liquid.
When your done drinking, you look at the man. He nods to your arm and your eyes widen. You see your arm heal until there’s no trace of what had happened.
“Come, we have a lot to talk about,” You follow him down the hall. “My name is Vladimir but you may know me as Dracula,”
“Dracula?” You deadpan. “For real?”
“What? You do not believe that vampires are real? Even though you are one?” You stop walking. He stops as well and turns to you. “You are the daughter of Bruce Wayne, The Batman, you should be able to connect the dots,”
The blood, the enhanced senses, the vulnerability to light. You didn’t know how it was possible, but it was true. You were a vampire. You had made a deal with the devil... But oh, was it worth it.
****
“Whe-where am I?” A pale, redhead whimpers.
“Vicki Vale,” You state from the shadows. Your voice echoes off the walls making it impossible for her to pinpoint where you are. “So, you’re the one that’s obsessed with my father,” You growled. For a long time, the woman in front of you reported on both Bruce Wayne and Batman. She wrote article after article about him.
“Who are you?” She asks, in a shaky voice.
“Oh don’t worry, it’s not me you have to worry about,” You assure her, a smirk dancing on your lips.
“Alright, Y/n, that’s enough,” Vlad says coming into the room. Vicki gasps and turns to him. “Oh, you are beautiful,” Vlad whispers. “You will work perfectly,”
“Wh-what?” She whimpers, shying away from him.
“Y/n, leave Vicki to rest in peace, we have things to discuss,” Vlad calmly orders before turning to leave the room. You come out of the shadows, smirking when you startle her.
“So, she’ll work?” You ask him, the two of you walking toward his office.
“Yes, but we must move quickly. Your father and brother are causing trouble,” He tells you. Your head tilts at the information.
“They’ve killed more of your vampires?” You ask him.
“They found a way to cure them,” Vlad corrects you. “I need you to end them. I can’t afford to lose anymore vampires and I will not let them stop me from bringing Carmilla back,” He growls.
“Don’t worry, master, I’ll stop them,” You promise.
“I don’t want you to just stop them,” Vlad says, moving closer to you. “I want them dead and I want you to bring me their bodies. Do not fail me,” He growls.
“Have I ever?” You ask, smirking.
“Be quick about it,” Vlad orders. “The sun will be up in a few hours,”
****
“Viki Vale has gone missing,” Bruce informs Dick and Tim as he enters the Batcave.
“Dracula?” Dick asks, crossing his arms in his Nightwing costume. His mask resting on the desk by Tim.
“He’s planning something. More and more people are being turned, we have to stop him before we’re too outnumbered.” Bruce says.
“Reports are coming in about a string of animal like murders in the Narrows. Fits vampire descriptions,” Tim says, reading the reports off the computer.
“Can you get a read on how many vampires there could be?” Dick asks.
“Doesn’t seem like a lot,” Tim mutters. “One, possibly two,”
“Let’s check it out,” Bruce orders. Tim nods standing up. He and Dick pull their masks on. Tim and Bruce get in the batmobile while Duke powers up the motorcycle. They both drive to the Narrows to investigate.
****
You hide in the shadows as the infamous Batman, Robin and Nightwing appear. You glare at the young Robin boy. Of course Bruce replaced Jason. It was typical for Bruce to replace someone. Fury fills your heart but you manage to control it knowing that if you waited a little longer, you would get the opportunity to unleash hell.
You didn’t want to hurt Dick. He’s your brother. But you didn’t have a choice. Vlad ordered you to kill them and that’s what you had to do. You wouldn’t necessarily take pleasure in killing your father and his newest protégé. However, you hoped that with Bruce’s death you would finally feel at peace with yourself.
You killed the Joker but your anger remained. You killed Jason’s bitch of a mother yet storm within you continued to rage. Maybe with the death of Batman you would finally know peace and tranquility. You didn’t blame Bruce for Jason’s death but you hated that he didn’t avenge him. You hated that he replaced him. That hatred mixed with your growing anger consumed you.
“This one’s still alive,” Dick announced, kneeling beside a woman. Bruce moved to kneel beside him while Tim wandered off. You smirked and followed him. You made some noise to draw him further from the others.
“You’re the new Robin, hmm?” You asked. Tim looked around. Technically, Tim wasn’t new. He had been at this for a couple of years now but you aren’t exactly up to date on the world around you. You’ve been training and isolated from the world for a long time. So, while Tim isn’t exactly new, he’s new to you.
He took a defensive stance but it wouldn’t do any good against you. You could kill him with a flick of your finger.
“We can help you,” Tim says, his eyes searching for you. “You don’t have to do this, you don’t have to be a vampire,”
“Oh, but I want to be,” You smirk, walking around him but continued to stay out of sight. Tim looks confused by your statement.
“We have a cure,” Tim states. You sneak up behind him.
“I don’t want it,” You whisper, in his ear. By the time he spins around, you’re out of sight. You grin, loving the sound of his heart hammering in his chest. “Tell me, what do you know about the Robin before you?”
“What?” Tim asks, tensing.
“You’re not Jason Todd,” You growl. Tim becomes increasingly more nervous. “So, may I know the name of his replacement?” You spit. He doesn’t answer you. “Fine, don’t answer, doesn’t matter anyway,”
Tim tenses as things fall eerily silent. He goes to fall for back up but before he can finish the first syllable he’s lifted off the ground. You hand becomes tighter and tighter around his throat.
“You’re not Jason and you will never be him,” You growl, glaring at him. Tim choke, gripping your wrist but your grip doesn’t falter. His eyes widen a fraction as he recognizes you.
All throughout the mansion there’s picture of you. Dick talks about you all the time. He knows who you are but he can’t believe it. Bruce assumed you were dead, Dick insisted you were just missing. For nearly 7 years Dick worked to find you. Almost every spare moment went into finding some clue about you but you had vanished.
“If you were,” You smirked. “You would have been able to take me down... You’re pathetic... Weak,” You bring him closer to your face. He struggles to breathe, looking even more terrified when your fangs extend. “And I’m so hungry,”
Before you can feed on him, you’re knocked to the ground. You let Tim go as you tumble away. The boy collapses on the ground, coughing and struggling to breath in.
“Has anyone ever told you not to get between a vampire and her meal?” You growled, standing up. You turn to the man who had tackled you and smirked. There, only two feet away, is your older brother.
“Y/n,” Dick whispers, his defenses falling.
“Hey, big brother,” You wink. You take advantage of his astonishment and attack. You don’t even realize it but you’re holing back. You’re not going as fast as you could nor are you striking with all your strength. Hell, you’re barely hitting him with 20% power.
“Y/n! Stop! This isn’t you!” Dick shouts but you don’t listen to him. You grab his shoulders and fling him into a nearby wall. He collapses and struggles to breath.
“I’m not you’re little sister, anymore Dickie Poo,” You say, stalking up to him. “And all you are to me is a meal,”
“Then why haven’t you killed me yet?” Dick groaned pushing himself up. You freeze for just a moment but Dick notices it.
“What can I say? I’ve always liked playing with my food,” You growled, trying to cover up your hesitance.
“You’ve always been a shit liar, sis,” Dick teases. You hiss as he stands. “You’ll always be my baby sister, you’re just more of a pain in my ass right now,” He smirks putting up his hands. “And you hit like a bitch,”
Crying out, you attack Dick once again. This time you hold back even less but you’re still not aiming to kill him. It angers you as you hear Vlad’s comment in the back of your mind. Your vampiric instincts are fighting against your humanity.
Just when you’re about to give into your inclination to follow your masters orders a batarang sinks into your arm. It snaps you out of your instinctual daze. You look at it before following it’s path. You’re eyes land on Batman. For the first time in years you stare into your fathers eyes.
Before anything can happen, something catches your attention. You turn your head and watch the sun begin to peak over the buildings. You’re out of time.
“Wait!” Dick shouts reaching for you but you’re already gone.
****
You stand in front of Vlad for a solid five minutes. Five minutes of absolute silence. Intense, awkward, silence. You barely have the strength to hold his gaze for these few minutes but know if you look away you’ll look weak.
“I told you not to fail me,” Vlad tells you.
“I underestimated the skill of-”
“You’re a vampire!” Vlad shouts. It takes everything in you to not flinch. “You have the strength of a hundred men! I could possibly forgive you not being able to defeat your father, I failed that as well. However, you couldn’t kill an 18 year-old boy? Or your older brother?” Vlad asks, walking toward you.
“My humanity got in the way,” Vlad backhands you harshly.
“Your humanity,” Vlad says slowly. “For 6 year I’ve been working so hard to perfect you and yet here you are, a disappointment.” He spits.
“I’ll make it up to you,” You promise.
“You will,” Vlad nods, walking back to his seat. “And if you fail me again. I will rip your heart out,” You bow to him. “Wait for my word in your room,”
“Yes, master,”
****
“Are you sure this is a good idea? Tim asks, his voice horas. You had bruise his throat pretty good. It was a miracle he was able to talk at all at the moment.
“If anyone is going to get through to her, it’s him,” Dick assures him. Tim presses his lips together and follows his brother into the worn down building.
“How do we know he’ll even help?” Tim wonders.
“Because it’s Y/n,” Dick answers simply. Tim glances at him but says nothing else.
“You’ve got a lot of balls to come here, Dick,” Tim and Dick spin around to face Red Hood. Tim is in a defensive stance remembering the last time they had crossed paths. Red Hood and him fought, Tim barely escaping hospital time.
“Relax,” Dick mutters to Tim.
“What are you doing here, Dick?” He asks, looking around for Batman.
“Bruce isn’t here... It’s just us,” Dick assures him. They stare at each other for a moment before he takes off his red mask. “Jason,” Dick nods. Jason ignores the greeting and walks around them to get to his stuff. “Y/n’s alive,” Jason freezes completely. “We saw her a few hours ago,”
“Where?” Jason asks, keeping his back to them.
“Have you come across any vampires?” Dick asks. Jason turns to them.
“They’ve been crawling around town like cockroaches,” Jason says.
“Y/n’s one of them,” Dick tells him. “She attacked us a few hours ago. She tried to kill us but didn’t follow through.”
“We think that she still has some humanity left,” Tim says.
“I know she’s still in there.” Dick insists. “She could have very easily killed Tim and I but she held back,” Jason looks at the bruise around Tim’s throat.
“She still mourns you,” Tim tells him. “If she knew you were alive, maybe we can get her back. If we can get her back to the mansion, we can cure her,”
****
“Everything is in place,” Vlad says. You stand in the background watching him. On the tables in the middle of the room lay two women. One is Vlad’s beloved Carmilla. The other is Viki Vale. The plan was to transfer Viki’s life essence into Carmilla to bring her back to life.
“Master,” A newly turned vampire interrupts. Vlad turns to her. “Batman, Robin and Nightwing have arrived.” Vlad snarls and turns to you.
“They must not stop the transference,” Vlad tells you.
“I will kill them once and for all master,” You vow.
“Kill the Batman, capture Robin and Nightwing. Take them to my office and keep them there,” Vlad orders. You tilt your head but nod.
“As you wish,” You bow and exit the room. You hunt down the three men but only find two of them; Dick and Tim. “I see your stubbornness has only increased with age,” You state standing at one end of the hall while they stand on the other. They look a little worn down but you can tell they still have plenty of energy.
“Guess I spent too much time around you as kids,” Dick shrugs, twirling his batons.
“You should have stayed away,” You tell them, cursing yourself for how soft your voice had gotten. Your humanity, yet again, was showing. You pushed it back and locked it in a box but the little slip up was enough to confirm to both Dick and Tim that you could still be saved.
“You’ve been gone a long time, little sister,” Dick states. “It’s time to bring you home,”
“This is home,” You hiss. Dick shakes his head.
“This is a prison,” Dick corrects you. You smirk.
“You once said the same about Wayne Manor,” You remind him. You stare at him and your eyes flicker to Tim. “Join me,” You suggest. “We can give you the power you can only dream of,” You say, stepping closer to him. “We can be a family again,” You whisper, your humanity coming up once more. You allow it, for now.
“We can be a family,” Dick agrees. You perk slightly. “When you’re cured and back at the Manor,” Your face turns sour.
“Fuck the Manor,” You spat. “Fuck Bruce and Fuck Batman,” You hiss. “You think he cares?”
“He does!” Tim snaps. You laugh.
“Where did he pick you up from?” You ask Tim. “You must have a past. Bruce never takes in anybody mentally stable,”
“We’re not talking about that right now,” Dick cuts in. “If you don’t want to go to the manor, fine. Come with me,” Dick suggests. “I have an apartment in Bludhaven. You can stay with me... It’ll be like old times,” You’re so tempted to give in.
“I can’t,” You shake your head. “This is who I am now, this is where I belong,”
“No, you belong with us,” Dick insists.
“I haven’t belonged with you in years,” You mutter but he hears it. “I’m happy to see you alive, Dick... But you really should have stayed away,” You said, your voice hardening.
“We don’t have to do this,” Dick says. He and Tim fall into a defensive stance.
“I won’t go back,” You tell him. “Not with you, not with him and certainly not with Bruce,” You growl. “Why can’t you see that you’re not worth anything to him! All you are is an expendable tool! He’ll just replace you when you’re done being useful to him,”
“That’s a lie!” Tim shouts.
“Oh really?” You ask. “Then why are you standing here? Tell me, how long did he wait to replace Jason with you?” You wonder. “You’re nothing to him and when you die, he’ll move on like he always does and not give you a second thought!”
“You’re head is twisted, Y/n! You’re blinded by hatred and anger and grief, let us help you!” Dick pleads.
“No, I don’t need your help,” You growl racing toward them. Tim and Dick put up a good fight but you were done letting your humanity control you. Before they could pull any fancy tricks like they used to stop the other vampires, you knocked them out cold. Grabbing them by their collars you drag them to Vlad’s office. You lock them inside before hunting down your father.
You find him in the transference room fighting Vlad. You quickly join your master. With the both of you fighting against Batman, you’re beginning to overpower him. Until he uses a UV light which causes you and Vlad to scream in pain. When it’s gone, you slowly begin to heal.
“No! No! No!” Vlad screams seeing Vicki has disappeared before the transference  could complete. “NO!” You force yourself to a stand. You gasp when Vlad appears before you and grabs you by the throat. You struggle against him but he’s a great deal stronger than you. “I told you to kill him!” He snarls. You try to talk but he’s crushing your windpipe. “You’ve failed me for the last time,” He goes to rip your heart out when he’s pull away from you.
You fall to the ground and shake the dizziness from your head. You look up and see a grappling hook in Vlad’s chest. A man by the door holds the string and continues to pull Vlad from you until he gets his footing and yanks the man to him. You watch as Vlad throws him across the room.
“You vigilantes are a disease,” Vlad growls stalking toward him. You force yourself to stand. You feel your thirst begin to rise as your healing completes.
Fresh blood gains your attention. You turn to the door seeing Dick and Tim at the entrance. You figured you had the guy in the red mask to thank for their escape
“Ah, look at this,” Vlad claps his hands. “A family reunion,” The red mask guy pushes himself up, grimacing at the pain in his back. “If you want another chance to live, Y/n,” Vlad turns toward you. “I want you to kill your brothers,”
You turn to Dick and Tim. They’re eyeing you as you eye them. The human voice in your head gets smaller and smaller as your animal instincts and need for blood overcome you.
“Kill them,” Vlad orders. Unable to fight his order, you advance to Dick. You stop when a clunk of stone is throne at your head. It doesn’t hurt you but it gets your attention. Your head snaps to the red mask guy with a growl.
“You on your period or something sis?” Your entire body freezes at the sound of his voice. No, it’s not possible. “You know how you get during that time of the month... I swear you turn into a fucking gremlin,” He raises his hands and takes the mask off. “Or, I guess, in this case a vampire,” Jason smirks.
“No,” You whisper shaking your head. “It’s not possible... You... you’re dead,”
“Didn’t stick,” He shrugs with that arrogant smirk of his. “Amazing what a Lazarus pit can do, huh?” Your breath hitches in your throat. It was possible.
“Y/n,” Vlad says regaining your attention instantly. “Kill. Them.” Your humanity vanished. With a hiss, you turn to attack Jason when Dick’s voice reaches your ears.
“You’re not expendable,” Dick states. You don’t look at him but it’s obvious you’re listening. “You mean so much more to us. We’re here for you and we’re not leaving without you. You’re one of us, not this creature he’s turned you in,”
“You know how much I hate agree with Dickwad,” Jason chuckles. “But on this, I do. Look, we’ve both changed over the years and that’s fine but that doesn’t change the fact that we’re brothers and you’re our sister. You went against father and killed the Joker for me. You beat the shit out of that one girl that cheated on Dick. You’ve stood up against Bruce for both of us on more than one occasion. You’ve always been there but now we’re here for you. It’s time to come home. Come with us,”
“Kill them!” Vlad shouts. Your eyes screw shut as you struggle between obeying Vlad and listening to your brothers. Realization hits Tim like a freight train.
“Don’t listen to him!” Tim encourages you. It finally made sense. All the vampires they came across were unnaturally loyal to Dracula. It was like they had forgotten their human lives and followed him. He figured it was just instinct but it was something more than that. Vampires were connected to their creator, Dracula, on a level they had severely underestimated. Tim theorized that Dracula had gotten to you, changed you, and manipulated/forced you to follow him. You had to follow his orders but that didn’t mean you wanted to.
You showed multiple signs of humanity. Dick and Jason were you’re anchors to your human side. If you could fight against Dracula’s orders then you could sever the connection. If that happened, getting you back to the manor and cured would be much easier.
“He’s the one who doesn’t care! He’s the one who believes you’re expendable, not us! We care about you, we’ll help you but you have to break his hold over you!” Tim said as clearly but as quickly as he could.
“Shut up!” Vlad shouted turning toward him. Before he could attack, Jason launches a wooden stake at him. It doesn’t kill him but it knocks them to the ground. “Kill them, Y/n! Kill them right now!”
You groan. Your hands grip your hair and begin to pull. You felt as if your head was being torn apart. You fall to your knees. A large part of you wanted to kill them, needed to kill them. Yet a big enough part of you didn’t.
“Y/n,” Jason says, softly. He slowly knelt a few feet in front of you.
“Kill me,” You whimper, looking into his eyes. “I can’t hold myself back for long,”
“You can,” Jason encourages you. “You’re not going to hurt me, Dick or Tiny Tim,” Tim scowls but remains silent. “You’re Y/n Y/L/N. You were turned when you were 18 years old but you’re 24. You’re favorite food is y/f/f and your favorite show is y/f/s. You always let me sneak into your room if I was having trouble sleeping and you always helped me through the bad days just like I did for you. We look after each other, we have since we met each other. That didn’t stop when I died and it isn’t going to stop since you’re a vampire,”
In the corner of your eye you see Dick and Tim going to end Vlad. Something within you snaps. You snarl and before you know it you’re protecting your master. Before you can reach Dick and Tim, something pierces your shoulder. You look down to see a similar grappling hook hooked into you.
You gasp as Jason yank you back. You snarl and struggle but Jason is able to fight against you allowing Dick and Tim to destroy your master.
“No! NO!” You scream. The pain of your bond to Dracula is excoriating. You scream and writhe on the ground.
“It’s alright sis,” Jason whispers, knocking you out with a special tool they used on all the other vampires. “You’re safe now,” He whispers picking you up. “How do we cure her?”
“We have a serum at the manor,” Tim says,
“Bring it to my place,” Jason ordered. Tim goes to argue but Dick lays a hand on his shoulder. Dick nods and Jason nods back.
****
When you wake up you have the worst hangover known to man. You groan, your hand slapping your forehead. You try to think about what could have given you this feeling but you get nothing. Until everything comes rushing back to you a minute later.
All the killings, Dracula and the whole vampire ordeal hardly phases you. What makes your heart quench is the man you saw before you passed out.
“Jason!” You cry out, sitting up quickly. The motion causes you to groan again.
“Easy, easy,” You’re gently pushed back onto the bed. “Welcome back to the land of the living,” Opening your eyes, you look at Jason. You really look at him. He still has that spark, that anger in his eyes but there’s also relief and happiness. You lift your hand and gently caress his face. He leans into your touch.
“You’re real,” You whisper.
“Yeah, I’m real,” He whispers, tears coming to his eyes. “I thought I lost you there for a second,” He laughs.
“I did lose you,” You whimper.
“I know, I’m so sorry,” Jason gently pushes you over and climbs into the bed. You instantly hug him with all your might. “I’m here now and I won’t be leaving your side for a damn long time,”
“You saved me,” You whisper. “You, Dick and Tim,” You whimper the tears coming down your face.
“You just got a little lost for a while,” Jason muttered. “You would do the same if any one of us was in your position,” You nod, snuggling into his chest. He rubs circles into your back. “Everything’s going to be ok, now... You’re cured, Dracula’s dead and you’re with me,”
“Can I stay with you?” You whisper, looking up at him.
“I thought I told you that you weren’t leaving my side for a long time,” Jason smirks. “We have 6 years to catch up on and I need my big sis to keep my head on straight,”
“I need you too, Jason...” You whisper. “God, do I need you,” You snuggle back into his chest. He kisses the top of your head and holds you even tighter. “I was so lost without you,”
“Shh.. You don’t have to worry about living without me again,” Jason promises.
“Good... Because next time, you die I die,” Jason smirks.
“We’re going to be one kick ass team,” Jason mutters. You grin closing your eyes. The both of you got the first real sleep you had since Jason died.

"The belief in a supernatural source of evil is not necessary. Men alone are quite capable of every wickedness." - Joseph Conrad
Not everyone knows this but each and every person has an aura around their body as if it hovers to remind people like you that they have things to hide. Not many people can see and do what you can do, but then again, you don’t want them to. All your life, you have been able to connect with people on a much deeper level than the average human. Those auras contain energies that you are able to connect with, therefore see more than what the normal eye can.
This ability that you have has gotten you in places you should never be. It’s gotten you where another dare not to venture. It’s allowed you to see the true intention and personality of a person no matter how high and thick their walls may be. Now, some people are better at hiding their true selves than others, but you always manage to figure out what makes them tick.
Your abilities have captured the attention of a really great friend, Jason Gideon. When he figured out the thing you could do, he knew you would make a great addition to his team. Granted, he was on a “summer break” so to speak, but he would be more than happy to give you a recommendation. It’s not that you didn’t want to work for the FBI, you just didn’t know if you would be good enough.
Never have your abilities let you down even if they didn’t always give you want you wanted. No one really knew what you could do, not even your family. It made you feel like a freak, like you never belonged anywhere since all you could do was see on the soulful plane. Maybe the BAU would benefit from having you on board, but would you benefit from having the BAU on your side? Your father always told you never to join any kind of government work, and at the time, he gave a good enough reason to keep you away. Something about them always taking jobs right from underneath everyone’s noses, and you believed him when you were a kid.
Now, not so much.
It was hard to when all you saw was death wherever you go. You didn’t ask for this ability, but you got it, and it was your responsibility to help as many people as you could with it until the day you die. That was the only reason why you were considering taking Jason up on his offer. There was still some hesitation on your shoulder, and you thought a walk would do you nice.
The crowded city rushed on without you, but you only had one thing on your mind. It was the busiest part of the city, but you liked walking through there once in a while. Everyone’s thoughts and feelings came to light when they were in a rush. It bombarded you and often overwhelmed you, but nothing overcame the sickening feeling you got in your stomach when you stepped on Jefferson Rd.
The energy in the air swirled around you, but it wasn’t energy from the people around you; it was from the dead. Even spirits leave energy behind when they pass which allow people like you to snatch it up to figure out their story. The way it works is that you become so overwhelmed with the emotions and the energy that you begin to see some of the last moments that spirit went through before it passed. You are allowed to see it based on how well you connect with it.
Some people have called you being psychic while other people called you a witch. Being an empathetic person helped you see the picture clearly. Not always will you get a clear one, and sometimes, you may not even get a full body. It’s whatever the spirit left behind and wanted you to see. They laid down the stepping stones, and it was up to you to be able to pass them.
Standing still in the middle of the sidewalk, you looked to your left to see a woman appear out of thin air. She was a bit transparent which is how you were able to spot the difference between an energy source and a real human. She was maybe in her mid-twenties, and she was jogging with headphones in. She passed by you without a second glance, and everyone around you seemed to disappear since the only person you were able to focus on was her.
She jogged for a few more seconds when a black apparition came out of the alley not far from you. The black shape grabbed at the woman, but you needed to replay that scene over if you wanted to connect with his spirit. Sometimes, when a picture isn’t clear, you have to replay the mini silent movie over and over again until you can either get a clear picture or you knew that you weren’t getting anything more.
As if you had a remote in one hand, you pressed it which rewound the action. The woman jogged backwards past you to where she first emerged, and you hit the play button. Just like before, she jogged past you, minding her own business when the black shape came at her. This time, he was a bit clearer. Repeating this process over and over again, you watched the woman get kidnapped about twenty more times before you could see the exact details of the man’s face.
He grabbed her and pulled her into the alley, but you couldn’t seem to move. The clearer the picture, the stronger the energy. The stronger the energy meant the event you watched happened recently. The longer the event goes unsolved, the less amount of energy you are able to connect with.
Something happened in that alley, but you dreaded going anywhere near it. However, this woman’s story was untold, and her spirit won’t rest unless someone tells it for her. Taking a deep breath, you looked at the busy street and suddenly remembered that you were in the middle of a city with a bustling amount of people around you.
Pushing past the crowd, you made your way to the alley until you were completely alone as the rest of the world left the single girl who was in the alley alone. There was one particular spot that drew you in, and you took a few steps towards it before getting another vision. The man jammed a knife into the woman’s abdomen, and you gasped when you felt her emotional pain. Being an empath is really hard work since you had more than yourself to worry about.
The woman dropped to the ground with a loud thud, and the man kept stabbing her over and over again until she was way past dead. Once he was satisfied, he took the murder weapon with him and fled the scene, running right past you to do it. It took everything in you to look away from his eyes despite your body telling you to do so.
The noise of the busy city drowned out the sound of a body thumping on the ground, and you crept to the area where she was stabbed. Instead of a body, there was a thick blue tarp covering the ground. It looked like a body was underneath it, but it could be trash. Please let it be trash. Please let it be trash. Picking up the end of the tarp with your gloved hand, you peeked underneath it to see wide soulless eyes staring at you.
The shock overwhelmed you, and you dropped the tarp in shock. Tears threatened to escape your eyes, but if it wasn’t for you, this woman probably would have never been found—or, at least, not right now. From what you could gather, the body was still fresh with only sight signs of decaying. If you called the police now, they might be able to find her killer.
Taking out your cellphone, you dialed 911 and put in an anonymous tip before getting the hell out of there. It didn’t take long for first responders to arrive on scene, and you watched from the deli across the street as they uncovered her. She was found because of you. She is going to get justice because of you.
That was all the evidence you needed to make your decision.
Taking out your phone once more, you called your dear and beloved friend. It took him three rings to pick up.
“Jason, it’s me, Y/N. I’ll take it.”

Gideon was sucked back into the BAU on a case after he needed to take some time for himself. He was involved with a bomber that took out one hostage and six agents, so you could understand why he requested for your help. He trusted you to aid this team in finding a killer, especially when he saw what you can do first-hand. It was hard to explain your abilities to someone who couldn’t possibly understand, but you knew you had to since he had a jet full of his other teammates.
It didn’t take long to get to the airport where the jet was waiting, and before you ascended the stairs, you could feel everyone’s emotions—impatient, curiosity, calmness, and eagerness. They were all waiting for you, and you needed to show them that you belonged on their team. Walking on the jet, all heads turned at the new presence. Gideon stood up and approached you with a welcoming smile on his face.
“It’s good to see you again,” he stated.
“Well, you needed me. Here I am,” you nodded, looking at everyone else on the jet.
The person you noticed first was what you assumed to be the second person in charge. He had almost black hair and a hard gaze since he didn’t really like newcomers. The next person was a black male who emitted impatience since he just wanted to get in the air. The last person was a scrawny young male which is where the curiosity was coming from.
“Y/N, this is my team. Agent Aaron Hotchner, Derek Morgan, and Dr. Spencer Reid.”
“Spencer Reid?” you asked, and the young man perked up at the sound of his name. “Sorry, but I’ve read everything you have ever written especially Identifying Non-obvious Relationship Factors Using Cluster Weighted Modeling and Geographic Regression. You have a very intelligent mind.”
“Thank you,” he smiled, clearly impressed that you read his work.
“Guys, this is my good friend Y/N that I’ve asked to help us on this case.”
“Is she FBI?” Hotchner asked.
“Not exactly.”
“I am what’s known as an empathetic psychic. If ‘witch’ makes you sleep better at night, then call me that. I see things that most people are not able to see. I connect with people’s energies, especially the dead. Believe it or not, I see events that lead up to someone’s death due to the energy and the spirit they leave behind. The more recent the event, the stronger of a picture I get. It doesn’t always give me what I want, but it always provides me with what I need. I’ll be a valuable asset to this team.”
“I already approved it with the board. She has her firearm qualification and she passed the academy with flying colors,” Gideon sided with you.
“We need to get going. We’ll see how you do on this case,” Hotchner nodded.
With that, the plane was off. It wasn’t until the pilot let you know it was safe to move around the cabin that everyone start to talk about the case.
“His first victim was Melissa Kirsh—stab wounds and strangulation,” Spencer read from the file.
“Wait, wait. Back up. Back up,” Derek interrupted. “He stabbed her and then strangled her to finish her off?”
“Other way around,” Gideon cleared his throat before turning to you, the hopefully newest member of the team. “Why do you think he started using the belt with the second murder?”
“Strangulation with your bare hands is not as easy as one would believe,” you said, earning a few stares from the others. You knew it would take some time for them to get used to you, especially when they didn’t even know you. The fact that you’re with them is because you’re friends with Gideon. “He tried and probably found that it took too long so he stabbed her instead and realized it would be hours cleaning up the blood.”
“Next time, our boy's got a method—the belt,” Derek added.
“He's learning and perfecting his scenario. Becoming a better killer,” Gideon stated.
“So, Y/N, where did you learn about profiling?” Hotchner asked, taking a break from the case.
“I have a PhD in Criminal Justice with a sole focus on profiling. Another one in Psychology which better helps me connect with others. I thought Gideon told you all of this,” you asked, looking at your friend.
“How old are you, if you don’t mind me asking?” Spencer asked.
“Twenty-three. Well, I turn twenty-three in a few months.”
“Wow, I’m impressed. How did you get two PhD’s at your age?”
“How’d you get three at yours?”
“I’m a genius with an eidetic memory.”
“Yeah, well, I worked my ass off to get where I am so just know that you’re not letting just anyone on this jet with you. I’d be happy to prove myself to you guys. I’ve been doing it since I could read.”
“There’s a few more of us you still have to meet,” Hotchner stated.
“Lucky you, Reid,” Derek grinned. The young doctor stared at his friend in confusion. “You’re not the youngest one here anymore.”

assholes - ( gen avengers )
Summary: Your friends can be such assholes sometimes.
Pairing: Hints at Reader x Loki, but nothing serious.
WC: 2.3K
A/N: This is a super old one shot. Originally it was just Rhodey and Tony, but I just rewrote it and added more characters. I'm back in my marvel writing feels. Since I'm a POC myself, I mostly picture the reader like me. Though I go for gender-natural terms. Hope you like it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"He's such a dumbass sometimes," you snicker, watching Thor try and fail to work the toaster. "But it's adorable. It's like watching a clueless golden retriever. Zero thoughts, head empty."
"That's rude, Y/N." Sam hides a smile as he walks over to Thor, helping him with his apparently "impossible" task.
"How long has Thor been on Earth now?"
Steve looks thoughtful for a moment before replying, "I think a couple of years. But, even I know how to work the toaster. I swear I've seen him use it before."
"Hmm, Loki did say Thor likes to pretend that he's a dumb blonde."
Steve rolls his eyes at the mention of Loki's name. "You're still talking to that maniac?"
You shrug, "duh, he's my friend, and sometimes you guys can be a little too much. He's my escape."
Steve raises an eyebrow as he slides a plate of chicken alfredo to you. "Why do I get the feeling you're sleeping with Loki?"
Throwing him a smirk as you picked up your fork. "Maybe I am. Maybe I'm not."
"I'd prefer the latter."
Sam shakes his head as he hears the conversation. "Please stop talking about him before he pops up. We don't need him to add to the chaos in the tower."
"Loki's always in the tower; you guys just don't know it."
Sam and Steve look alarmed as a grinning Thor takes a seat beside you. "Y/N is right. My brother tends to come at such odd hours, but he's in the tower daily with Y/N."
"Does Tony know this?" Steve demands.
"Oh yeah, he literally burst through my door with his suit the first time Loki appeared in the tower. We came to a compromise if you catch my drift."
Sam lets out a noise of disgust. "Okay, no. We don't want to hear about it. As a matter of fact, forget that we even brought Loki up."
Thor and Y/N share a laugh as Steve shakes his head.
The duo's laughs are cut off when Y/N's cellphone starts to ring. Everyone's confused, staring at the cellphone sitting on the counter.
It rings a few times before going quiet.
"I have no clue who'd be calling me at one am," Y/N says as the phone lights up again.
"I mean...shouldn't you answer it and see? Could be important." Steve replies.
"My parents are sleeping at this time of the night. Everyone else that's important to me is currently in the tower, Steve. I'm sure FRIDAY would let us know if anything's happened to them."
Sam snatches the phone off the counter, answering it mid-ring.
"Hello?"
"They're asking for you." He frowns before handing the phone to a confused Y/N.
Furrowing your eyebrows, you reached out, taking the phone and bringing it to your ear.
"Hello?" You questioned.
"Hello?" The unfamiliar, hushed, and husky voice rang out.
"Heard you were looking for me. Who is this?" You asked, exchanging glances with Steve, Thor, and Sam.
"Who is this?" The caller repeats your question.
"I mean, you're the one that called me. So what do you want, creep?"
The only thing you could hear from the other side of the phone was heavy breathing.
"Are you going to say anything besides breathe on the phone?" The person doesn't say anything, so you shrug, hanging up the phone.
"Who was it?" Steve asks.
"I don't have a freaking clue. All he did was breathe on the phone." You respond, going back to your dinner. There are a few minutes of silence before your phone starts ringing again. You shake your head at Bruce as he reaches for the phone again.
"Let it ring, probably the same idiot. He'll get tired eventually."
Ten minutes later, the four of you were at your wit's end. The ringing didn't stop.
"Y/N, I beg you to please answer your phone before I smash it to a thousand pieces." Thor bemoans as the phone goes off once again.
Letting out a frustrated sigh, you snatch the phone back up. You placed the phone against your ear. "Hello?"
"Y/N, you know it's rude to hang up with someone. I thought you knew better than this."
You roll your eyes, "What do you want? You've called my phone nonstop for the past ten minutes!"
"I just want to talk Y/N! We can talk and become the best of friends."
"You're out of your goddamn mind. Do yourself and me a favor and stop calling my phone. I'm hanging up now." You snap, pulling the phone away from your ear.
"YOU HANG UP THIS PHONE BITCH, AND I'LL GUT YOU LIKE A FUCKING FISH!"
It was clear that Thor, Sam, and Steve heard his threat as alarmed expressions overtake their faces.
"Y/N, give me the phone," Steve says through gritted teeth.
"DON'T YOU FUCKING DARE GIVE ROGERS THAT PHONE!"
You stare down at the phone in shock before anger takes over your expression. "Who the fuck do you think you're talking to?! I don't know who the hell you are or what the hell you want with me, but I'm telling you now to leave me the fuck alone! Come near me, and I'll be your last day alive!"
The creep begins to laugh over the phone. "Oh, Y/N....your petty little threats don't scare me. All I want to do is play a little game, and then I'll leave you alone. I promise!"
"Fuck no! Leave me the hell alone!"
The creep lets out a growl. "I want to play a game. A simple one, call it movie trivia. Answer it correctly; you and your little trio of morons will survive."
There's no warning as the lights go out, leaving the four of you in absolute darkness.
"Answer wrong; you die. Don't even bother calling for help. Your little friends and A.I. are all...out of commission."
All of you glance around and then at each other uneasily. "Don't even think about it. I'm watching your every move!"
Sam lets out a sigh. "This is a fucking nightmare."
"What the hell did you do to our teammates and FRIDAY?" Steve was gripping the counter, glaring at the phone that you'd placed on speakerphone.
"Don't worry about that. I can see you, Thor. Try summoning your precious hammer, and I slit Barton's throat!"
Thor looks disgruntled as he drops his hand. "Very well."
The creep chuckles, "That's more like it."
"I'll ask again, what the hell did you do to our teammates?!" Steve questions again.
"I can hear the desperation in your voice, Rogers. Don't worry, your pretty little heads, I haven't done anything so far. Their fates depend on you four. We win the game. and I'll let them go."
"We can't trust your word, man. We need proof." Sam says.
The creep hums, "That is true. Look for yourself."
A hologram of security footage pops up. "Say hello to your fellow avengers!"
Your eyes widened as you took in the sight of your teammates, bound and gagged to chairs in a circle. Tony, Clint, Bucky, Wanda, Vision, and for some odd reason, Pepper was there as well. Clint and Tony were the only ones awakened and were frantically shaking their heads.
"You sonofabitch." Steve curse, running a hand over his face. "What do you want?"
"A simple game. Are you ready to play now?"
"YES! YES! We'll play your stupid ass game! Just don't hurt our teammates!" You say, placing a hand on Steve's shoulder.
"That depends on how well you do with my trivia! Tell me Y/N. Do you like scary movies?"
"Yes."
The voice tutted. "Then you should be very good at this game then."
You take a deep breath, hoping your racing heart would calm down. It frightened you how easily someone snuck into the tower, basically kidnaping your teammates and holding them hostage.
"Question one, How many people does Jason kill in the first Friday the 13th film?"
You furrow your eyebrows, looking at Steve. He shrugs, looking hopeless. "I'm so sorry, but I haven't seen any horror films."
Sam snaps, making a zero with his hand. "He didn't do any killings in the first Friday the 13th movie!"
The creep hums, "who did the killing then?"
"His mother!"
"Bravo Y/N and Sam! "The voice praises the two of you.
"Question two, how many knives does Freddy Krueger have on his gloves?"
"Four. He has four!" Thor calls out.
"Yes! Good boy, Thor! It appears you aren't as stupid as I thought!" The voice laughs once again. "Next question...Which room does Dick Hallorann tell Danny to stay away from in The Shining?"
"I heard Tony mention sometimes once about room 237 as a joke. He said it came from a film called The Shining. Is that it?" Steve says.
"Is that a question or the answer, Rogers? And no, don't help him!" The voice yells as you go to tell Steve it was correct.
"I...It's the answer."
"CORRECT!" The creep gives a round of applause. "Now, last question, who is the Ghostface killer in Scream 4?"
Oh, shit, there was so much going on in the Scream series, you couldn't keep up. Besides the first two movies, you kind of gave up watching them.
The four of you were exchanging frightened and panicked looks when no one answered. You took a deep breath and said the hell with it.
"Roman Bridger!" You cried out. "It was him! Right?!"
There was silence on the other line before the creep said the words you dreaded, "Wrong answer Y/N."
The four of you were surprised when two cloaked figures appeared in front of your unconscious teammates. One head Tony's head up as the other slashes him viciously across the stomach.
"TONY!" All of you cried out as blood began pouring from his shirt, and Tony lets out muffled cries of pain, fighting against the ropes.
The two cloaked figures turned, waving at you mockingly.
"Are those Ghostface masks? We're really dealing with a fucking Ghostface copycat groupie?!" Sam says, bewildered.
"Come out and play with us!"
Your nails dig into the palm of your hands as you stare down the copycat Ghostface on the right. There was something familiar about them.
"You're going to pay for hurting our dear Anthony, you fool." Thor looks furious; the rage in his eyes was clear to see.
"You'll have to catch us first!" There was a slam of a door down the hall, and you all turn your heads in the direction.
"We were the only ones on this floor. No one knows we hang out here." Steve says, glaring down the darkened hall.
"You will need weapons Sam and Y/N. Steve and I will use our brute strength to defend ourselves. " Thor says, grabbing the skillet off the stove, handing it to you. He gives Sam the butcher knife Steve was using earlier.
You and Sam exchange glances, the message clear in your eyes. 'Did he forget we're both trained fighters and can defend ourselves weapons or not?'
Steve leads the way as you slowly creep down the dark hall. "I've got nothing-" A swift punch to the jaw cut off his words.
"HOLY SHIT! STEVE!" Sam calls out, rushing over.
"I'm fine, Sam. They came out of nowhere. They're on this floor somewhere. We've gotta look for them."
"Oh, there's no need to look for me. We're right here." Sam lets out a yelp, falling to the ground, clutching his side.
"Shit, guys were humans and can't really see that well in the dark. You're going to have to use your weird-ass super senses and find them." You say, fumbling around until you find Sam's outstretched hand. You help him sit up, leaning on you for support.
"Stop being a coward! Come out and face us!" Thor yells out.
"This shit feels like it's from a low-budget horror film," Sam mutters to himself.
You nod in agreement.
Suddenly you feel a hand on your shoulder and a voice whispering your name in, "Y/N..."
Letting out a yelp, you grab their hand, using all your strength to flip them over your shoulder.
"FUCK!" You didn't waste any time kicking the shit out of this asshole.
"YOU MESSED WITH THE WRONG AVENGER ASSHOLE!"
"Y/N! Y/N, IT'S ME! IT'S ME, SCOTT!" The cloaked figure shouts, reaching up and snatching his mask off. Scott's now bruised face stared up at you as the lights flickered back on.
You glanced up to see Thor holding Loki in a headlock and Steve scowling at Clint. Sam was frowning at Tony, who was smirking.
"There's no need to be all upset, brother. It was a mere prank; you know I've done far worse than this." Loki lets out a grunt as Thor tightens his grip.
"I recall the numerous times you've stabbed me, bitting and nearly gotten me killed. But, these are our human friends Loki, and they are far more..." Thor trails off, staring at Scott, who was holding his head.
"You guys are such fucking assholes. A prank is putting something funny and straightforward. This shit wasn't funny; it was fucking terrifying. We thought Tony had gotten stabbed! Our teammates had gotten kidnapped, and FRIDAY was harmed." Sam growls out, crossing his arms and shaking his head.
"This was out of line, guys. I'm disappointed." Steve's "I'm Disappointed In You" face and tone of voice were enough to ruin anyone's mood.
"There was no real harm done, guys. Lighten up," Tony tries to brush it off.
"No harm do-" You start before shaking your head. "No, I'm not saying anything. I've gotta go take my rage out in the training room, come on, guys." You motion for Thor, Steve, and Sam to follow you.
"We're going to prank them back, right?" Sam questions as you guys get into the elevator. '
"Oh, for sure."
