I've read Lockwood and Co so many times, the entire series is read every other month and I never enjoy it less. But only on this re read and listening to the audiobooks for the first time I just realised how screwed up of a world this is.

How stunted of growth these generations of children are that it truely makes sense why George, Lockwood Lucy and all of that act the way they do.

Lucy was sent to work at such an early age, 4 nights of night work and barely able to see her family due to her shifts. (Not like her parents were all there for her anyway)... Of course subjecting children to horrific and dark matters like death, the visitors shape, their cries and words. Then in Lucy's case losing her entire agency, her only friends, over something she blames herself for.

Then you have Lockwood who got to be more of a child in a sense, until his sister's and parents death in which he never learnt how to regulate his emotions and bottle them up at such a young age. Again both are full of guilt and shame but processed it differently. Their Talents used and made to do stuff children shouldn't. Like Lucy says throughout the books lockwood has completely detached himself from the past even if it was just last night knowing he has years of trauma and guilt with absolutely no outlet or care to confide him.

George seemed to have a better life than the other two however again these young children who have barely been in school are subjected to such dark stuff that he has put it as part of his humour and how he thinks. It's said how he has a grusome little mind and tends to say dark stuff.

That's barely scraping child development... These children are going to be so screwed when they grow up with no Talents. Like we see Kipps and how he gets scared without his Talents, how it's not the same and you can feel them fading. All of them are kind of bullies at points just....

It's fucked... What's going to happen after it all...

I feel like there are a lot of people out there who needs to hear this:

If you dropped out of school because of diagnosed (or undiagnosed) ADHD, Autism, ADD, OCD, Dyslexia, Anxiety, Depression, Bipolar disorder, psychotic disorders, schizophrenia etc… You did not fail. The education system failed you.

I hate when people say suicide is the easy way out, they have no idea the pain you must be in to want to end your own life
