Cyno had to instill fear in people's minds
As he walks through the corridors of the Akademiya, his Invoker's spear in hand, the researchers and scholars bow down slightly to show respect. As the General Mahamatra, it is his duty to lead the Matra and discipline those who go against the Akademiya's rules.
You were a scholar too. But one can say that the two of you were almost.....friends. Almost. Acquaintance would be a better word. The TCG tournament allowed the two of you to exchange pleasantries in between rounds. He was a lawful enforcer, the one that held authority over the nine bows. But you did not see it that way. For you, he was just Cyno, a fellow TCG player. It was weird at first that even outside of a tournament setting you could be slightly frank with him, shocking your colleagues and Cyno himself.
He was interested in talking to you about more than just TCG and research and he even made an effort not to include his jokes in your conversations. But one day he was eavesdropping on your conversation with one of your colleagues did he finally understand the motive behind you getting close to him.
"Oh don't worry I'll talk Cyno out of suspending you from the Akademiya. He likes me he'll definitely listen to me"
Oh but that's not how it's gonna work. You must recieve punishment for even thinking that you can take advantage of him.
So with a Wolf's Swiftness, he began making arrangements for your punishment. Surely this will make you realise the consequences of you leading him on.
"On the accounts of plagiarism and delibrate destruction of another scholar's research, you are hereby suspended from the Sumeru Akademiya"
You couldn't help but be dumfounded. How did this happen??
"My research is 100% original. I have given credits where I did not cite my own data and I did not destroy anyone's work!! These are false accusations" right at that moment Cyno walks in and you felt relieved. He will surely get you out of this mess. "Unfortunately for you these are not false accusations, I have confirmed them myself. Please collect your belongings and empty your allotted room"
"But this is not fair where will I live Cy-"
"You have three days. Meeting dismissed"
With tear filled eyes you look back at the Akademiya that you so loved and wished to go back, but now you'll never be able to step foot again. With nowhere to go and stay, you went on your way to another nation.
Cyno looks at you from the window. He truly wished things could become more romantic between you two but your corrupt ways had to be corrected. He cannot allow Sumeru scholars to behave like this. Others got to know about your friendship with him, he could not let others think about being friends with people in the Matra to gain an advantage, so he delibrately suspended you.
After all he had to instill fear in people's mind

Mond event where they find out about a species of flowers that, like the boars, are frozen in Dragonspine, so they call Tighnari, with Cyno and Collei coming along.
The main mechanic would be that, to bring the flower back, you need to first melt the ice with pyro, then apply dendro and electro to help its growth (no hydro would be needed, thanks to the thawing of the ice).
And, as you explore the area with the group (Tighnari, Amber, Cyno, Albedo, Sucrose, Klee and Collei), Paimon (or maybe Venti would be better) remarks on how the situation is a direct parallel to Collei's arc.
Collei represents the flower, frozen in time (and trauma) due to the Fatui, only to be saved by Amber (Pyro), who melted the "ice" and allowed her to start anew with Tighnari's (dendro) and Cyno's (electro) help.
This heartfelt moment is then crushed by Klee attempting to help with her bombs, accidentally killing the Regisvine that was lurking in the background, since it's technically an "Albedo in Dragonspine event" (not today).

Being a famous architect meant a busy life, and Kaveh relishes drinking nights with the boys.
It’s the holidays, which means many intense matches of TCG and glasses of wine at Cyno’s place. Of course, Kaveh feels the all too familiar dizziness in no time, paying it no mind as he comes back to playing TCG.
The focus is too short, for his mind for some reason wanders to you, only the most beautiful one he’s ever laid his eyes on. Alhaitham and Kaveh have you to thank, being their mediator all these years. If there’s one thing he tries so hard to stifle, it’s all the things he loves about you.
However, an artist cannot even be able to hide his admiration, especially when drunk.
“I miss her.” Kaveh goes before the boys collectively groan. Cyno and Tighnari have heard this at least once every time they play cards. In fact, Kaveh’s personal qualms with his feelings are always making a cameo in the otherwise fun boys nights that happen after work.
Kaveh would drone about you, going on and on, and on and on and-
They know about you, their dear friend, through Kaveh’s lenses, and possibly a little too much about what he thinks about you, whether it be about your habits that he finds cute, the type of foods you like, or the way you just…exist?
“You know, if you miss her that much, why don’t you call her?” Alhaitham retorts with a roll of his eyes, causing Tighnari and Cyno to snicker before it suddenly stops. Kaveh with a pout, calls you with his phone on speaker, totally forgetting you were out Christmas shopping. They cannot help but stay quiet when you pick up, hearing the rattling of items in the distance, their gifts possibly.
“Hello? Kaveh?” Your voice asks through the speaker, your panting heard from all the walking you’ve been doing from running errands all day. The boys see Kaveh smile at the mere sound.
“Heyyyyy!” He drunkenly responds, slouched now on the table, TCG cards in his hands now forgotten and your conversation with him his only focus. Tighnari doesn’t want to feel like he’s intruding, stepping out of the living room into the kitchen with Cyno trailing behind him, suddenly needing some more of that dinner they had. Alhaitham merely puts his soundproof earpieces back on, too lazy to really wander much else as he pulls out his book.
“Kaveh, what’d you call me for?” You ask, noting his rather peppy demeanor. “Nothing, just miss you.” Kaveh mumbles into his phone, making you laugh. He’s clearly drunk, and you spot it right away. There’s just quiet from his end as you mumble to yourself, trying to keep your shopping list up to date as you wander aisle by aisle. On Kaveh’s end, your adorable little grunts are getting to him, poor you are unknowing of what thoughts you are exactly leaving him to imagine.
“Hnghhhh,” Kaveh groans, making you get startled from your intense focus on the aisle you were looking for the next item on. “Kaveh?” You ask, wondering if he’s maybe feeling like throwing up.
“Do you even know how you sound right now?” He asks you, as though it’s a dire emergency, one that means you must know how much suffering you are putting him through, how much you have been putting him through.
“Huh?!” Your startled voice is heard saying in response, making him scoff.
“You cannot be on the phone with me then be making these hot noises, right?” He starts, but then he gives you no room to respond, now droning on about you to…you. “Working so hard for everyone, unknowing of how many times I just want to hug you from behind and even plant some little kisses on your neck. You don’t know that, huh? Of course you don’t! You don’t even know how hic how gorgeous you are! You don’t even know how HOT you can hic be! Welllllll listennnn, I will tell you! Why? Because I’ve been thinking about this for soooo long, and you don’t even know! Put me out of this misery! Tell me you love me the way I do, pleaseeeeee!”
Unfortunately for Kaveh, his friends quickly grab the phone and hang it up on his behalf, concerned for the flushed blond that was currently drunk, slumped over still as he practically whines and cries for you. That’s definitely going to be quite the conversation you two will have upon seeing each other.

Let’s face it. Alhaitham really wouldn’t want to be drunk with a group of people. He’ll do it, but he won’t be happy about it all too much. He’d rather be by himself as he sips on the best of wines that the place offers. So when he’s dragged to go to a holiday party for the Akademiya, he’s rather cranky. He hears about your whereabouts not from you, but from your coworkers in the venue. “Where’s Y/N?” “Oh, she said she couldn’t go. Sad, really. Would have wanted to see her. I forgot why she said she couldn’t though.”
It makes his brows rise, and he decides to go to a corner, grab his phone from his pocket, and call you up. Now, you and Alhaitham were a pair of people that no one really knew could get along so well. If people heard, they’d think you were merely tolerating the scribe, but little did they realize that a little bit of academic talk can get you far with Alhaitham. As long as you are open to expanding the horizon of knowledge, you can be some…adequate company to Alhaitham.
So you, being adequate company, bring delight to the otherwise cranky man when you answer the phone. “Hey!” You chirp from the phone, and he immediately notes that you sound just fine. As relieved as he is to know you don’t sound sick or in discomfort, he is just as curious as to why you are not at the Akademiya’s holiday party.
“You’re not coming tonight?” He asks, going straight to the point, only to hear you laugh in embarrassment. “I don’t like those kinds of things. I don’t like having to kiss ass for a few hours, so I decided to just…do something else,” he hears you say, to which he thinks is valid. Now he cannot help but feel stupid even being here while you, a well-respected scholar, were out doing something else. Though his reasons for coming here were valid (assessing where some scholars were at for their research proposals so he can get out of work early in the next coming month), he felt this pull. He swirls the newly poured cup of wine in his hand with scrunched brows, silent for a few seconds on the line.
“What are you up to then that’s much more worthwhile?” He asks. “Christmas shopping.” You respond simply, Alhaitham being able to hear the tone of happiness in your voice from your own answer. He cannot help but feel the corner of his mouth twitch upward, speaking only when you ask him back what he was up to. “Thinking about tagging along with you in that shopping idea. Maybe it’ll be a way out.”
“Maybe you can come with me!” You chirp. “I’m getting a little treat for my co-workers in bulk. Would you like to tag along? I am barely leaving my place.”
The fact you offer makes him want to melt, and he promptly tells you yes. A time and place to meet was set before you two hung up. Upon finishing the call, he drinks his glass of wine quickly before putting it down and leaving without anyone else knowing.
For all you know, you’re dragging the scribe throughout the shops, getting your needed goodies for your co-workers swiftly before hauling over a bottle of wine and a pack of seltzers home. It brings you to him being in your place, drinking with you as you both down a simple meal. Alhaitham finds your lively energy to be something he cannot help but marvel at, never once finding your company to be of nuisance. In fact, he secretly wishes you asked for him more, but he’s happy with the way things have been looking, especially tonight.
He cannot help but look at you in silence rather than the movie you bring up to watch, seeing your eyes have this glow to them as you quickly immerse yourself in the holiday spirit. He could tell you were a little more drunk than him, seeing the flush on your face as he went ahead and placed a blanket on your lap for warmth. Though, he’s more surprised when you cuddle up against him, and he has to rationalize his own thoughts to prevent them from wandering elsewhere.
“You’ve been looking at me.” You murmur, your cheek squished against his arm as your eyes remain on the movie. “Why?” You ask, laughing. “Can’t I look at what I find more appealing?” He teases back, not realizing he’s not that far from being as buzzed as you. No social inhibitions were seen tonight, the two of you being a little more witty in your banter, slowly creeping into rather flirtatious remarks.
“You know…I really wouldn’t be going out of my way for some people, let alone to shop and drink with them. You know that, right?” His whispers fall into your ears, making you laugh giddily in response. You can feel him smile into your skin too, the two of you having gotten close in proximity. “I know. I also tested the waters out tonight, inviting you out. I’m glad you found it worthwhile to go.” You whisper back, your inner thoughts of the whole evening now on full display. You know you two would at the very least remember this conversation tomorrow, but you couldn’t see yourself staying awake within the next ten minutes.
Alhaitham was already one step ahead of you, carrying you gently to the bed while the movie was left playing. He cannot help but snicker a bit as he tucks you in bed, hearing you protest, begging him not to go.
“I’ll sleep on the couch tonight. In case you get any other ideas the next morning.” He chuckles, but alas, your eyes have already begun to close. Alhaitham finds himself smiling fully, taking a quick second to look at the way you slept before closing the door. “So stupid.” Whether that alluded to your drunken antics or the way he easily had fallen for your charms, that’s for him to decide tomorrow.

One would think that the Yashiro Commissioner would be rather great at handling himself with some liquor, and they’re right. It would be safe to say that liquor may as well be akin to some liquid luck for Ayato, and that drinking some would make him a lot more proficient in the art of persuasion and rhetoric. Perhaps that is why he is so keen on having his retainers passing around several drinks to the people he meets with, or why he prefers some social gatherings when getting through to some distinguished people for some proposals.
With his friends, however? The heightened skill in rhetoric is definitely targeted towards someone else–you.
You have been a childhood friend of Ayato and Ayaka, being older than the latter and being a bit younger than the former. Even Ayaka saw you akin to an older sister, constantly finding a friend in you and another close confidant like her brother. It doesn’t change even as you three have grown into your own people, still managing to spend the holidays together. However, you lose track of time because of how busy your life has been, rendering you into forgetting what time it was or what day it was.
It leads you to your phone ringing as you shop for the last of your gifts, meant for the Kamisato siblings and Thoma, hauling the last few items into your cart. “Hello?” You ask into the phone, seeming happy by the man who called you to begin with.
“Where are you?” Ayato’s voice comes in, rather concerned, making you raise your brows. “I’m Christmas shopping!” You tell him back with a giggle, as if it was a pretty wild way to speak to you. However, Ayato even finds it wild himself that you said this so nonchalantly. “Uhhh, Y/N?” He starts, his eyes darting to Thoma and Ayaka with a dumbfounded stare, the hot pot boiling on the table between them. Thoma couldn’t help but laugh at how dazed you sounded from it all. “Y/N, do you know what day it is?” You hear Ayato ask. “December 22. Why?” You ask, genuinely confused with your best friend throwing in a sense of urgency into the call. “Y/N…It’s December 23. You know. Hot pot night?” Ayato finally lays the truth of the matter out to you, and you immediately feel your eyes wanting to fall out of its sockets.
“Oh shit.” He hears you say to the phone, only to shake his head fondly at your own slip up. “Don’t worry. I’ll come get you myself.” He says, and he does, deciding to pick you up from your place once you’re fully situated. Of course it’s met with a whole plethora of apologies from you, to which he reassures you that no harm was done. Alas, you’re back in the Kamisato home, full of the presents that you had wrapped in quite the hurry before Ayato picked you up, and the party between you four is now in full swing.
With the hot pot game full of disgusting ingredients to start, then a beautiful little feast laid out for you all to eat afterward, it was a blast. However, when liquor is mentioned, it’s all a game changer. The four of you, normally composed and refined, were now acting a lot more youthful and more in tune to your spirits. It was relieving and liberating, with you four now being loud and letting music blast from the speakers as you all drunkenly sing. It is when Thoma decides to want to beat Ayaka at a game of Super Smash Bros that you and your best friend get some time to yourselves.
This year, he decides to usher you to his room, a drink in his hand and your hand in the other, letting you take a seat on the edge of his bed as he digs through his desk amongst all the papers to find the very gift he had saved up for you. Yes, the gift exchange was way past you all, but this final gift he wished to give you alone.
“Open it,” He beckons with a smile, his violet eyes friendly and tender despite his buzzed state. “It’s for you after all.” And you do, carefully tearing through the wrapping paper after putting down your own drink to be able to hack away at the present. You cannot help but gasp, the shining silvery necklace that was so simple yet its gems shine in the moon’s glow. Of course, he helps you put it on you, but afterwards he’s met by your embrace.
After some laughs, he’s got you on his lap, the two of you basking in one another’s presence as your gazes with one another linger just a second longer than necessary.
“Hey, you,” You laugh with a giddy grin. “Hey, you.” Ayato greets back with a chuckle. You two couldn’t even bring yourselves to pull away from this already close embrace, Ayato rocking you slightly back and forth. Was it the drinks, or his need to keep you in his arms? He doesn’t know. Same goes to you: was it the drinks or was it you trying to commit this gaze that’s directed towards you to memory? You don’t know either. You cannot help but find this funny.
“Do you have a map or something? I just got lost in your eyes.” You snort, surprised to hear him respond with not only a chuckle, but something else in return. “I believe we are in a museum of sorts, for you are truly a work of art.”
You wanted to keep this battle of cheesy pick up lines up, wanted to play with the flame that begs to ignite, but neither of you realize that Ayato is slowly and comically bringing you to the soft mattress of the bed, feeling heavier by the second by the way your form leans against him, your words slowly becoming slurred. Before you know it, the two of you are asleep, snoring with your mouths slightly open.
The next time you opened your eyes, the sun was peeking through the drapes, a soft breeze making its way inside. While your head begins to feel like a bowling ball, you hear the sound of footsteps walking in, your eyes meeting the familiar pair of violet orbs and a soft smile. You are reminded of the cringy exchange of words you two have made last night, and you immediately feel like you’d benefit from hiding in the bed.
“Oh, don’t do that,” Ayato chuckles softly. “How else can I give you water and painkillers?”
“No, I’m okay!” You quip back from under the covers. “Oh? You look like you’re suffering! Poor thing. Was it the hangover or…something else?” He questions, finding you still amusing while your form squirms in outright embarrassment. He knew what it was of course, and the fact that he can makes you embarrassed and fearful of what the result will be.
He wants to just make you look him in the eyes as he tells you how his heart aches in the best of ways since you’ve picked up some sakura petals just for him when you were younger. He wants to tell you so bad how watching you just spout out the most random pick up lines to him while he rocked you idly back and forth was the highlight of his night. He wants you to just look at him. So, he thinks of something quickly. He sits on the edge of the bed and lightly and playfully knocks on the blanket as though asking for entry amidst your whining.
“May I crawl inside? I’d like to say some lines of my own.”

There is a reason why Wriothesley will always prefer tea over alcohol. Wriothesley and alcohol? They don’t mix together.
The man was out with friends this time, going straight from work to the bar and grill. The holiday bustle was also rampant inside the place, the place rowdy as everyone caught up with their own groups or partners. Pleasantries have been far past Wriothesley and his friends, the group now fixating between their conversations and the TV that showcased a boxing match.
Beers were passed out, the boys having a great time and becoming more rowdy by the second. When the match dulls midway, the boys set their focus on catching up. As always, the question arrives to the singles: “do you have someone?” Wriothesley was not even aware of how flushed he’s become, how everything around him just fades and he just mindlessly stares at nothing.
“Wrio? You good?” One friend asks. “Hm? Y-Yeah.” He murmurs back, coughing to himself as he takes out his phone from his pocket without a second thought. As some boys pry into each other’s love lives, Wriothesley finds himself just scrolling in the photos app, looking at his camera roll. He doesn’t realize it, but his eyes fixate on any photos with you in it an extra second or two than needed.
His apparent boredom is not lost on his friends though, seeing the usually intimidating yet tranquil Duke just outright pouting as his thumb scrolls through picture after picture. First, it was the camera roll, then it was your instagram. The man was clearly still whipped for you, and it made all the guys snicker.
“Hey, Wrio, how’s you and that person? Uh…Y/N, was it?” One of his friends asked.
“She’s being awful!” He grumbled, chugging more of his beer from his pint glass. This would have made everyone a bit nervous, if it wasn’t for the whine that comes from his lips. Ah, his friends gave Wriothesley the room to talk, and they’d hear all of it.
“She doesn’t even realize how beautiful she is. I mean look at her!” Wriothesley scoffs, showing off the beautiful picture of you in your most recent post on Instagram. No one is even allowed an opportunity to chime in, nor are they able to wrap their heads around how animated the Duke was at the mere mention of you.
As far as his friends know, he’s been pining for you for years, feeling frustrated by the idea that Wriothesley didn’t even act on his feelings. Still, this was no less entertaining, seeing him so personal. Too personal.
Amused, a friend decides to call you in the middle of his monologue, grinning when your face pops up on the screen. It’s clear you were shopping for decorations, the Christmas aisle already a dead giveaway of your whereabouts.
“Hey!” You chirp, “What’s up?” You say. His friend just points to a direction before flipping the camera to show the ever so whiny Wriothesley, hearing him raise his voice in the loud music and the loud cheers from those watching the boxing match.
“OOH! The things I’d do to her…” Wriothesley groans, with you seeing his cheeks flushed from the alcohol. You clasped your hand over your mouth in shock, your eyes widening as he just rambled…about you. To his friends, he was practically unrecognizable, watching the man run his hand through his hair at the mere frustration.
“Hate how flirty she gets, trying to get a rise out of me. You know? She just likes to get under my skin, guys. And you know what? I don’t even give her an ounce of how I feel about it, but it really just makes me wanna grab her and kiss her to shut her up. I wanna just…grab that pretty face.”
He’s practically making grabby hands, as though you were right there at the bar and grill in arm’s reach, close to cupping your face. “Just grab that pretty face and make her shut up in real time. She’d like that…yeah, she would. She’s always just prodding and telling me ‘ohhh, how nice it would be to just be kissed like that’, as if I’m not in front of her just…waiting for her to give me that chance. Gonna make a guy beg, huh?”
Everyone is just stunned, some are laughing hysterically at how vocal he gets, how Wriothesley just shakes from frustration and how his eyes are practically pleading. You’re in hysterics on your end of the call too, trying to conceal your laughter for the sake of courtesy. Though, your mutual friend on the other line just looks at you in a puzzled manner, surprised you took this oddly well after all the lewd things he’s said about you.
“Just give Wrio the phone.” You tell him, waiting till the phone gets passed to the man himself.
“OH! It’s you! Hey, babe!” Wriothesley practically exclaims, his eyes lighting up at the sound and sight of you, his beloved girlfriend.
His friend turned girlfriend.
All his friends’ eyes just widen at the nonchalant manner in which he hurls the affectionate term.
“Gees, baby, one beer too much?” You ask with a smile.
Baby?!
Wriothesley has so much explaining to do.

I chose to do only Malleus since I didn't want to spend three hours typing again. I made this into a split between Headcannons and a oneshot since I couldn't decide which one I wanted to do. There was also not alot to go off of to make the headcannons, so I just added more of my own context to it. I hope this is adequate to what you asked for, I did my best! —Benny🐰

🐲 When he first met you, Malleus immediately noticed your off-putting and downright ominous aura. He wasn't affected, of course, but he did notice that almost everyone else was. He sympathized with you, as he causes the same reaction in people that you do. That fact that you understand his everyday struggle certainly made it easy for the two of you, and by extension Lilia, to become close.
🐲 Malleus also noticed how you didn't really seem to be too affected by the fact that the majority of the student body feared you. In fact, you told him that you completely understood that you were scary and that you needed to be due to your role as the Mahamatra. Your status and experience as a warrior have given you a fearsome aura and you use that aura to instill order in your subordinates when the time comes. ...Malleus still has yet to ask you what a Mahamatra is exactly.
🐲 He had once asked you why you carry a staff, which you later explained to be a polearm from your country of origin, Sumeru. Seeing you wield your spear with such ferocity and accuracy was quite an enlightening experience for Malleus. He was really only ever used to seeing Lilia, Silver, and Sebek train with their swords and their magic. Secretly he wanted to ask if you would teach him how to use a polearm, but he doesn't know how to approach the question.
🐲 Something that Malleus didn't expect, however, was the 'dad jokes' as you and Lilia had called them. His father figure and you really seemed to bond over that, actually. You used it to ease the fears and tensions that derived from your overall appearance and demeanor. The dragon fae wondered why he never thought of doing that himself but.... well.....
——————————
"Hey. You four."
The magicless student from another world towered ominously above a group of students who had been whispering about his fearsome appearance; a shadow cast over his eyes as he spoke lowly.
The previously gossiping students trembled in fear as he stood before them, unable to muster up any words or thoughts. Across the cafeteria sat a certain dragon fae; his keen ears picking up on their conversation. His shoulders slumped when he heard them speaking to him as though he were some sort of monster; yet he couldn't ever bring himself to try and make friends with those people as he was sure that they would run away. Malleus shakes his head to break from his thoughts as he tuned back in.
"—ou call a well balanced horse.....?"
The intimidating foreign boy asks the students in a cold tone and waits a few moments in silence,
"Stable....... pfffft— Hehehehehehehe, get it, 'Stable'? 'Cause horses live in stables?"
Everyone in the cafeteria who had heard his joke collectively sweat dropped, including Malleus. The poor fae prince was equally appalled and amazed; his eyes couldn't help but wander to the bat fae seated to his right. That joke...... was awful; he almost felt his entire body scrunch in on itself as he cringed; trying to hide it with a blank face.
"A good idea... I suppose... but such poor execution."
Malleus muttered quietly to himself, a cartoonish sweat drop falling down his temple at a comically slow pace.
The previously scared group of students only stared at the magicless boy in confusion and disbelief; not knowing what to do. Where did that come from? [Name], receiving no response, only cleared his throat before reaching into his back pocket and taking out a small notebook. He flips a few pages before stopping on one and giving a firm nod.
"Ahem— What's red and bad for your teeth?.... A brick. Hehehe, get it?"
The magicless male chuckled with a boyish grin as he cracked yet another very bad joke.
Malleus only stared at the boy, a slightly strained smile on his face, stuck between whether to view him with respect for dissipating the fear that he conjured by his mere presence or with disappointment at the awful jokes that he surmised you got from his father figure.

Look, Luffy HAD to release his feelings for you. Right now. If not for the fact that every time he was in a ten centimetre radius of you his whole body shook with such perfervid vibrations he's nearly left a gaping hole in the deck, Zoro's clenched jaw was dead giveaway that he was ten seconds from lobbing his Captain off the side of the ship.
If he had to hear about it one more time. It was bad enough Mr. Curly Brows finding his way to butt into every conversation: placing down his whisk so he could clasp his hands to his cheek and turn to Luffy with such pulsing hearts catapulting out of his eyes at the mere thought of romance. Even worse was being subjected to Luffy's tireless campaign; the incessant drilling of Luffy in trying to make sure every crewmate knew his every inner, cogitating... sappy thoughts about you was starting to eat into Zoro's much needed nap time.
On second thoughts, hearing solely Luffy talk about romance was far better than hearing both he and the waiter prattle on about it.
Zoro placed his palms over his eyes and tried to block out the way the cook had begun fanning himself with the bottom edge of his apron. 'You need to woo them, Luffy! Make them feel like they're the most stunning person in the whole world- the most important crewmate on this ship!'
Luffy took a break from tearing apart the third plate of roasted beef and fresh bread poor Sanji had spent all afternoon sweating in the kitchen to bake to glance down at the meat quizzically. No - not quizzically, much to Zoro's chagrin. Luffy's eyes widened; his head tilted as he rubbed his fingers together and let his meal clatter back onto the plate, his eyes brightening as if he were burnishing all the world's sunsets between his hands.
He looked yearning.
What Zoro didn't understand - heck, what even Luffy himself didn't understand, was how long this long-held devotion had been balling in the pit of his stomach like gilded butterflies, trying to flutter out through his ever-growing smile. After his dejection at Shank's departure from Dawn Island, you had been the only person left in Luffy's life whom he still felt hope from. The only person, besides the kind Makina, who didn't treat Luffy and his dreams like a whimsical joke.
When you had found him on the shore of the coast that day: his legs shivering as he ignored the chill splash of the tide soaking over his legs, his straw hat hanging sorrowfully over his eyes, you knew immediately that all Luffy needed was a little bit of optimism. A little bit, as you stepped over the shards of splintered wood that you could only make out as the remains of a makeshift mast, of belief. As you folded your legs down on the sand and settled next to your friend and gently took the torn Jolly Roger flag from his clenched hands, that what Luffy really needed was your unwavering devotion.
Little did you know, as Luffy turned with bleary eyes and that - god - that still so tender smile twitching at his lips when he spots you, that he was thinking exactly the same. As you grasped his hand between your own and pointed out to the horizon, promising that one day the two of you would sail away underneath that spot: right there. That one! That little spot: those wavering streaks of shimmering gold that lay like a transcendental passage underneath the orbed sun, you could never have realised that Luffy would only reflect your adoration tenfold.
'Wherever we go, we go together right? You won't leave me?', Luffy has asked, wiping his snotty nose with the back of your intertwined knuckles.
'Of course! I promise, Luffy', you had recoiled with a laugh, wiping it off on his vest.
Luffy's so uncharacteristically still, so silent for a moment, that Zoro's almost tempted to shout for Chopper. 'They are!', he finally shouts, nearly making the table clatter onto its side with how fervidly his knee jolts. For a moment, Luffy looks almost sad as he drops the last piece of beef back onto his plate, but his spine is quick to shoot as straight as an arrow again: his wide grin blooming across his face like roped starlight when he remembers what he had been so busy thinking about mere moments before. And every hour before that. And every single day before that as well. You.
You had always been an integral part of his dream, and now he was beginning to understand why.
'I can't stop thinking about them!', he declares, much to a chuckling Sanji's delight and a groaning Zoro's annoyance. 'They're more beautiful than all of the meat in all of the entire seas!'
Zoro pinches his temples lightly before rubbing his hands down his face and crossing them stoutly over his chest. Sanji's quick to scowl over at him. Leaning back on his stool, the first mate sighs as he watches Luffy whip his head between his two cremates like a puppy whose just been tossed a juicy bone.
'What do I do now!'
'Just... don't... don't say that to them. The beef part. The rest of it's fine.'
Sanji clucks his tongue at the swordsman, desperately trying to hold back a seething retort. Instead, he turns his attention back to his Captain, coming to clean up his plate and reassuringly pat his shoulder at the same time. 'Don't worry, Luffy. You just need to show them that you care! Spend some quality time with them, shower them with gifts, offer them your hand when they're disembarking the ship... ', Sanji's eyes glaze over as he bites his bottom lip, and Zoro tries desperately to restrain himself from picking up the bowl soaking in the sink and dumping it over the moron's head. 'Such beautiful creatures should be treated with the upmost devotion.'
The only problem with Sanji's advice is, that Luffy somehow manages to become a thousand times clingier when he finally realises he's in love.
You'll be minding your own business: trying to eat dinner with your friends when you'll sense something sprightly and warm barrelling towards your side. Before you can even register why Nami's stopped chewing on a chunk of torn bread to wiggle her eyebrows facetiously at you, the jut of Luffy's chin weighs down on your shoulder. You flush, trying not to embarrass yourself in front of your crewmates (and losing your bet with Nami to see whether you or Luffy will cave in first and kiss the other one silly), you pretend to be intently stabbing at your carrots. Definitely not squirming your legs together under the table at the feel of Luffy's jean shorts riding up the edge of your thigh. Definitely not inadvertently hitching your breath as the harsh edge of his knee bumps against your own, his leg resting heavily as he your Captain nearly climbs on top of you. And definitely, definitely not feeling your hands go clammy with the intensity of Luffy's puppy dog eyes fixedly contemplating the faint splatter of blush on the cheek nearly pressed against his nose: as if mapping out the intricacies of your body was the most interesting thing he'd ever done.
'Y/n!', he finally starts, making you jump up. Nami was not impressed when your leg reflexively kicked out and hit her shin, but you Luffy was more than delighted when you slunk it back with an apologetic smile and hit the side of his big toe. Without a second thought, he wrapped his foot around your ankle under the table and nuzzles his forehead against your jaw. 'You've been training so much with Zoro lately, I saved you some of my meat so you can get big and strong like me!'
*Cue the shocked gasps from Usopp and Sanji, the controlled exhale from Zoro as he tilted his head back against the porthole and closed his eyes, and the self-congratulatory smirk from Nami.*
'I also borrowed some cookies from Sanji! They're super chocolatey. I tried a few to make sure that you'd like them!'
'Hey, those weren't for you!', Sanji bites his tongue and flops his tea towel down onto the table, but Luffy's too busy inadvertently ignoring the cook to care. His sole focus is on the sweet delight that blooms across his face at the thoughtful gesture as he fumbles some half-broken cookies out of his pockets.
'Sorry', he murmurs as he places them into your hand. 'I got a bit hungry and ate some of them.'
'On your way from the counter to the bench?', Usopp asks.
'Yeah, what is that? Like, ten steps?', Nami teases, but the words don't even register in Luffy's whirring mind. He's far, far too busy trying to stop his heart from pouring out of his gaping mouth like choking saltwater, he's blubbering so much. His fingers shake as he splits the last cookie from his vest in half and - as gently as he can - prods it against the plumpness of your closed lips. Once you've started chewing, you decide to return the favour; you barely half to lift the other half of the cookie before Luffy's nipping at your fingers like an energetic snapping turtle. When your pointer finger accidentally enters his mouth though, and brushes against that warm velvety spot lining the inside of his bottom lip, he freezes; the faint taste of sugar of toffee melts off your skin and against his tongue, and the usually so assured man forgets, for a second, how to breath.
It's only when your finger pulls back to wipe a few stray crumbs away from his Cupid Bow that Luffy finally springs.
'Y/n, let me get your crumbs too!' He leans forward with crinkled eyes almost closed painfully tight and pursed lips. Whether he was going to kiss or lick the crumbs off your face you'll never know, because at that exact moment Sanji tackles Luffy to the floor before he could get any closer.
Just want to warn you in advance: if you want to sleep alone, you'll have to bribe Nami into keeping watch outside of your room every night. Or you'll have to sneak off and try and stowaway in some old oaken kipper barrel under deck (although the stench is so bad you couldn't sleep anyway, and Luffy went wandering around the pantry for a midnight snack that he lifted the lid and found you anyway.) Because the only preparation you'll get before being launched into your hammock is the pounding of his sandals making the gunwales shake, and the slight pant of his famished breath before your door is kicked open.
'Y/n! I can't sleep! Can I come snuggle with you? Captain's orders!'
You don't mind though, and even if Luffy can be incredibly clingy, if you told him no he would feel sad, but he would always respect your wishes. It would be the worst thing in the world for him to hurt you in any way - seeing you upset feels like his heart is being clawed out of his chest, because in a way it is.
There's barely any time to plop your book down onto the floor and hold your hands out to Luffy before you're flung into the air like a ragdoll, his rubbery arms wrapping five times around your abdomen as if he were growing sunflower roots from his fingers: winding the roots around to kiss your body, rooting his blooms within your skin. Embedded together until you were almost sharing the same breath, Luffy passes out almost immediately; he spends the whole night snoring with his nose squished just under your eye, but you can barely sleep with the way he keeps rubbing butterfly kisses against your cheek every so often. It doesn't help that he keeps whining desperately in his sleep - his already clenching and unclenching fingers leaving their home in your side to claw at your thighs and lift them closer to his bellybutton. His dragging lips left a wet trail against the pulse point as he burrowed himself further against you, only settling again when the heavy weight of his legs squirm in between your own.
One time you were spending the afternoon wandering through the delightful market square of Seahorse Shore: the sweet smell of jasmine blooms woven between sun streamed lattices was matched only by the warm sound of Sanji's friendly chatter as he walked beside you, stopping from time to time to pick up and squeeze a rare fruit.
You froze when you heard something: an echoing pounding, like an elephant stampeding away from a wild hurricane that whipped at its tail, before someone jumped on your back.
You were about to toss the guy head over ass onto the ground, when you heard the delighted shrill of Luffy's frantic voice ringing against the shell of your ear.
'I missed you so much today! Mmmh, you smell so good, like meat and flowers!'
'Luffy, how did you get back here so quickly?? You were at the opposite end of the island!'
'He followed his nose back to you.' Zoro just turned around, deciding to take his chances getting lost down the billion white sun-bleached cobblestone alleyways on this twisty island than to stay watching the two of you be all lovey-dovey for another second. Gosh, by all the seas even Sanji yelped when he you stumbled forward, steadying yourself by wrapping your fingers behind the raised kneecaps Luffy had haphazardly thrown around your hips. The man hugged onto you like a koala bear backpack, because he had been apart from you for... hmm... twenty minutes?
He's always dragging you off for some big, wild adventure, I don't know, there's just something about the two of you sitting under the speckled shade of an orange tree with interlocked arms, a few fireflies beginning to peek their heads out from between the stout leaves, like honey dripping down from bowed boughs as you leaned against each other, watching the sunset. You were here. You had made it. You were free.
And most importantly, you were together.
Luffy lunges for your hand and starts pointing at the grass swaying between your shoes, excitedly telling you about all the bugs and beetles running around the soil (to Luffy, a big part of love is trying to share what you're passionate about with each other.) He does lift up a stag beetle at one point and places it on your hand, but he starts to panic when the insect frantically starts scurrying up your arm. Somehow you end up face down in the dirt with Luffy leaning over your back; the buttons of his Hawaiian shirt sway over your spine as his chest heaves, his lips dangerously close to being only a few centimetres away from landing on your shoulder blade. You would have blushed at the proximity if you weren't too busy picking grass blades out of your hair, and trying to help Luffy's stretchy arms unloop themselves from under your armpits.
When Luffy gets to flop his head back down into your lap though, feeling you card your fingers through his hair, all is right in the world again. For a while, the two of you just exist: watching the sunset brew violet and lilac gleams across your eyeline, talking about your latest adventure against Captain Kuro at Syrup Village and playing with each others shaky fingers. Its only when you take a break from stroking his curly hair against your palm that he stops and pouts, blinking rapidly up at you. When you lean forward though, tickling that soft spot between his earlobe and the cute freckle by his jaw using your free hand to pluck a daisy from behind the rim of his hat and tuck it through the loop, a bashful burn shines across his face.
Before he can think twice, he musters his courage and determination, squeezes his eyes shut, and lifts his spine up so he can plant a wet kiss against the tip of your nose.
Your eyes flash as you pull back, tenderly rubbing your nose against his. Cupping his cheek, you press a kiss against his forehead and fold your enclosed hands against the rapid pulse of your heart. Your eyes never leave his, and his eyes trace your path in... confusion?
I mean, the two of you have been in love with each other since you were ten years old, and this is the first time Luffy's brain has stopped to think: 'Hey! Maybe Y/n likes me too!'
The real time he surprises you though is when he plops his hat on top of your head. You'd been caught up fighting some Marines off the coast of the Conomi Islands, and had unfortunately been struck down by a rather forceful cannon ball to the side of the Going Merry's railings. When Luffy bust down into the Medbay, you'd never seen such clouds thunder across his face. His whole body seemed to sag once he spotted you, his eyebrows unfurrowing as he almost tripped over his own feet in his desperation to get to you.
'I... I was so worried. I saw that Marine hit you, and I-
For once, Luffy stops talking. Instead, he takes his hat and places it over your tired eyes, hoping you won't see how flustered he looks when he leans down to press his lips against the top of your bandaged arm.
'You- you promised', his voice wavers as if he's about to start sobbing, but he hides the noise by wiping his nose with his forearm. 'You promised you'd stay with me. Always.'
'I meant it Luffy - I'm a Strawhat Pirate, you can't get rid of me that easily. What would my helpless Captain do without me?', you smile, brushing the back of your knuckles languidly down his the growing tearstains of his cheek, despite how much your whole body screamed at you to rest.
'Promise?', he asks, his voice shaky.
'I promise.'
He didn't have to say it. You both knew. You had always known. There was no one without the other. There was no dream without you.
So when he clumsily slapped his hands on either side of your cheek, smushing them together so you looked like a blabbering pufferfish, you weren't surprised. When he nearly sent the stretcher you were perched on rolling across the room by standing between your legs and pressing his torso up against your chest, you didn't blink. When he smashed his lips against yours, leaving kitten licks against the inner seam of your mouth as if he were trying to eat his way into your tongue, you didn't think twice.
All you did was kiss him back, the unwavering devotion that had always tied your lives together finally finding freedom by flooding into your hearts.

Honey, I’m Home! ~ Alhaitham x Liyue!Reader
Tumblr media
“Girlfriend?! You?!” Kaveh’s face showed nothing but utmost shock. “I don’t believe a word you say! Nobody would! I mean -- You?! There’s no way any sane woman would stay around you!” “I am not one to respond to baseless provokation, however, I have to point out that you directly insulted my partner intellect and mental well-being, to which I cannot remain silent - Though, I suppose you are intoxicated and there’s little I should care about. No word coming out of your mouth is ever worth taking into account to begin with.” Alhaitham, much to his mate’s irritation, didn’t even raise his gaze from the book he was reading. “Hey, you--! You’re SO insufferable!” the poor architect growled in anger. “Since when? You never told me about her, and we’ve known each other for enough years! You’d have let it slip somehow - Or, at least, your arrogance would’ve!”  “Your impression on my personality has nothing to do with any kind of potential slip you think I might have had. As a matter of fact, the existence of a significant other had never been a secret to begin with. You just never asked, therefore, I had no reason to go out of my way and brag about my perfectly accomplished life, considering not only your living conditions, but your infinitely tragic luck. I did not want to bother with you crying again, out of nowhere.” Kaveh threw a random book at his mate’s head, which annoyingly enough, he masterfully caught without as much as blinking. “GAHH, I HATE YOU SO MUCH!” the man whined, slamming his face into the table. “FINE! TELL ME! ENLIGHTEN ME! WHO IS THIS MYSTERY WOMAN THAT MANAGED TO IGNORE THE INFINITE AMOUNT OF NEGATIVE TRAITS AND THAT STUPIDLY ARROGANT AND UNAPPROACHABLE FACE OF YOURS?! IS SHE BLIND?!” “There is nothing wrong with her eye function. In fact, she often compliments my appearance.” the scribe pointed out. “We have been together since a year before we presented our graduation thesis.” poor Kaveh spit out the beer he was drinking. “HOW LONG?!” he was absolutely convinced he was lying. “There’s NO way that is, in any way, true!” “If you don’t believe me, there are plenty ways to search for proof on your own. The only thing I would have to warn you about is not to use your usual barbaric ways of speaking to her, if you manage to find her. You will scare her away.” Kaveh couldn’t help but glare at Alhaitham, though, considering the amount of unceremonious yelling he just did, he couldn’t refute much. “Fine, whatever - Tell me about her. How you met. Something. Anything relevant. I’ll see after if I believe you.” Alhaitham had to fight the smirk off his face as he hummed in amusement - It was so easy to get a rise out of this fool. “Y/N is originally from Liyue, although you can say, after finishing her Amurta course and graduated, she would spend about half a year back home to take care of her family and help with the medicine aspect of the country.” Kaveh’s eyes suddenly shot open and he gasped. “Hold up! Is this the Liyue friend that Tighnari mentioned? They were in the same Darshan and -- They worked on their thesis together a lot and -- And Cyno too, on enough occasions -- Is that her?!” Alhaitham shrugged his shoulders, though he knew it was the truth. There were a lot of references that one must use in the bibliography, and the practical percentage of her thesis she did on the comparison of Fauna and Flora from Sumeru and Liyue was done for the most part with Tighnari. Y/N often mentioned the fennec boy being her only friend for the many years she in Akademiya.
Alhaitham knew, no matter how nice of a person you were, if you had a unique brilliance, the common flock of mindless sheep were bound to be rude to you. He was no stranger to the endless amount of insults he received from many, although, in almost the same ponder, he also had many more compliments of all kind, be that on his intelligence, on his work, or... His looks especially. Tighnari and Cyno were no strangers to this kind of treatment, but at least they had each other - For the most part.
Back then, having a new student, from another country no less - A country with a rich history, though not as much focus on studies as Sumeru - A new student that, through thorough examination, was able to start her Amurta studies not from the first year, but skipped about a half of the years required to graduate.
From the get-go, Y/N was a bit of an odd one, and the students of Akademiya were no less lenient with her, nor did they bother teaching her about cultural differences and what not. Alhaitham, too, noticed something strange, but it was different from everyone else. Was it that he never heard her speak, even once? Or that, were it not for the amount of gossips and bullying he witnessed, she’d have been walking the halls of the House of Daena like an invisible ghost, unseen, unwanted, unneeded by all around her?
Or, perhaps, it was that there was a large amount of books that she was reading - Manuals, text-books, works, thesis of all kind, from different Darshan courses even - And for the most time, she’d read them all outside, in the forest, far away from the Akademiya; As far away as possible, if need be.
And despite the awful treatment she received, and the amount of diligent hard-work she was putting into her courses, she never seemed to frown or let things affect her. She wasn’t smiling either, and her tiredness was showing - Still, it almost looked endearing; A brilliant woman, so effortlessly beautiful and graceful in everything she did, wearing a passive, demure smile on her face, even if none wanted to appreciate it.
Were all women from Liyue like this, he wondered? Most Sumeru women he had the displeasure of conversing with were so obnoxious and emotion-driven; Oft times, he even wondered if the inspector examining them did his job well enough, because he himself could see no ounce of anything clever in their bleak, dark minds of theirs. No that the men were any different, but they had the courtesy of avoiding him like the plague, to which, Alhaitham was grateful. He never cared for idle chatting for no reason.
Hence why, he needed to concoct a proper conversation reason, otherwise, there would be no sense to start speaking with the new student.
Luck had always favoured him for some reason, and instead of wasting his time with needless research, it was Y/N herself who came over to him. She nodded her head at him as a courtesy greeting, and introduced herself as Y/N from the Amurta class. She explained that, although her thesis was based on biology, she had plenty of interests in many other areas, and having heard him as the most remarkable student from Haravatat, it was a no brainer that she’d come to him requesting aid for some book and course recommandations.
Though his reply was a simple yet positive one, informing her that, once he gathers some time, he will see what he could do, she offered him a grateful, princess-like smile, and this time, a brief courtesy, before leaving. For a split second, Alhaitham had to wonder if this Y/N had any amount of noble blood in her lineage - No woman could act so perfectly elegant all the time without some proper training from before you even begin breathing into this world.
Regardless, Alhaitham found himself completely abandoning his work for a whole day in search of accommodating Y/N, and when he searched for her with the piles of books he had for her, all of them old, dusty and tattered, she was outside, under a tree, reading a story to a little fox. Such odd behaviour - Though the fox seemed to enjoy it, as it was purring in her lap as it was being stroked. It was quite the sight for sore eyes, he had to admit.
“Ah, so fast, you needn’t! You are far too kind - There is no way to repay you for your kindness. Allow me to treat you to some tea and a meal tomorrow, please.” Alhaitham shook his head, sitting down next to her. “There are few people actually interested in proper research and academics. If someone came to me, willing to learn, there is no reason why I should decline.” he answered simply. “I do not require any reward. Simply put, I did it because I wanted to. However, if you want to repay me, then tell me - Why do you read so many books, when a lot of pointed information can be found out by simply asking through the Akasha terminal.” Y/N smiled at him enigmatically. “That is a question to which I cannot provide an answer. Not because I am unwilling to disclose the information - In fact, it’s quite silly, rather. The reason behind my silence is that... Due to this device you are wearing, if there is anything that I tell you, whether you wish to share this information with anyone or not, the whole network of people using the Akasha device are going to know, by simply asking. The people wearing this device cannot control the information they disclose - It is actually quite frightening, I might say.” Alhaitham’s jade-like green eyes peered deep into her own; They were so gentle and warm, almost resembling those of a fawn, yet even he could discern the tint of sorrow and loneliness pooling behind them. “You almost sound like a criminal speaking like that.” at the faintest hint of a crystalline chuckle, Alhaitham’s heart skipped a beat - Just one, of course, he simply wasn’t expecting such a sound as a response to his words. Was there something amusing in what he said. “Well, I suppose, considering nobody taught me the laws of Sumeru, there is little I can say to refute such a statement. Who knows, perhaps, in my ignorance, I might have managed to stray away from the right path. Regardless, what I can say is - I am forced by conjuctures to personally gather the information I am seeking. Whatever you wish to do with that information, it is up for your own interpretation, and I am unable to either approve or disprove it.” the man couldn’t help but scoff a little, though he came up with an answer easily.
Somehow, this pretty little princess was just about as much of a fairy as he was, and she, for some reason, managed to trick her way into not wearing a Terminal - Or she made it malfunction. Either way, it would make perfect sense.
“Fascinating as it is to guess, I am no philosopher, I am a researcher who bases his work on the factual, not on stories. I will not lose time coming to an uncertain conclusion.” for some reason, his words made the woman next to him chuckle again, for the second time in less than half an hour. Interesting. “Then, may I be so bold as to ask for your aid again, should I require again some kind of help oh some kind?” the woman asked, seeing as he got up, picking up the large pile of books, yet he seemed to have no intention of handing them other. “If the time allows me to take a detour from my work, then I suppose I see no reason not to help.” he answered briefly. As Y/N stepped in front of him, placing her hands over his own, in an attempt to burden the heavy weight of knowledge, he simply stepped past her. “Just show me where to get them. You may be ignorant of Sumeru’s own law code, but I doubt you would be foolish enough to ignore the laws of physics and even delude yourself that you could carry them yourself and reach home without as much as one of them at least being damaged.” he spoke, walking ahead.
Y/N couldn’t help but blink in surprise at the rather adorable and gentlemanly reaction of the otherwise stoic in inabordable man, however, she couldn’t help but smile in amusement, catching up to his pace and leading the way. “Judging by your your looks, there is no way you weight more than these books, therefore, given their mass, Newton’s law says that an object can only move another if its mass is greater. A single kilogram equals to exactly 9,81 Newtons. With this knowledge, we have to exchange the parameters with actual numbers, in the Law of Force, which says that Force equals the multiplying of the mass and acceleration of said object; And since acceleration is measured in meters per square second --” he continued ranting on and on about the laws of physics and the approximates he took, only to feel a hand powerfully slap the bottom of the book stack, making them all fly aimlessly in the sky - And be caught with the aid of Y/N’s Dendro vision powers. Y/N was smiling like an innocent child, though, with the way she was fighting back a smirk, it only made her look like a playful, mischievous vixen. “Alhaitham --” she said, a hand covering her smirking mouth. “Has anyone ever told you how adorable you are when you’re rambling with no sense?” the man couldn’t help but be rooted to the spot, completely unresponsive.
What did she mean? Him, ranting idly, for no apparent reason whatsoever? That was completely unlike him - Surely, she must be mistaken - He was trying to educate her; There is reason in everything he says. “Come along, I recently brought over some fantastic bamboo dew tea -- Oh, and I suppose, if you’re interested, I have some sweet Osmanthus wine also, the finest batch. Mr. Zhongli himself vouched for the quality, and there’s no other like him, a true connoisseur in everything fine.” with a delicate hand wrapped gently around his wrist, Y/N guided the speechless man toward her home - A pretty, tall house made out of wood, vines and leaves of all kinds, all of it, carved inside a grand tree. With a wave of her other hand, she created a staircase out of liana, allowing them to get up to the top-most part of her house, where her library was. “It isn’t much, but I hope you feel comfortable enough during your stay.” still, Alhaitham couldn’t utter another word as he went to sit down on the couch. Though he couldn’t help himself and analysed every inch of the chamber, he could still faintly feel the slight rise in his cheeks’ temperature, biological and physiological truth which irked him greatly, as it gave away the speed with which his heart beat, and, consequently, the fact that, despite his ration-based life, he was somehow able to be weak before the effortless charms of a woman like Y/N, who made him act like a fool.
But unlike him, Y/N seemed to be his own personal anti-thesis; Y/N seemed so calm and friendly, so warm and with just the right amount of conversation lines that didn’t border on the obnoxious type of talkative. In fact, Alhaitham might even have to admit, he didn’t mind the sound of her voice, in fact, he might as well admit that he found it rather pleasant to his ears. In only she’d know the stimulant effect her presence alone has on his heart’s rhythm, as though someone had secretly injected him with adrenaline... There must be something to be done about this.
As he asked her about her thesis, he swore, he could see sparkles in her eyes - Her infinite amount of love and dedication for the flora and fauna of both countries was insurmountable - Y/N was writing her thesis out of passion of the living beings, not necessarily out of sheer interest in research, though everything that she’s assimilated clearly set her on the right path. In must have been some kind of miracle that his plan on working on a thesis with that good for nothing Kaveh from  Kshahrewar; Simply, he erased his name from it, and moved on to a singular part of the research, though he had to admit, the environmental conditions weren’t the brightest - The subject, at least, was highly fascinating.
“Would you be interested in writing a project together?” he found himself asking all of a sudden. “A senior had previously proposed a thesis subject that interested me, alas, due to differences of opinions and views, the project fell through. The topic of my half of the thesis was the decoding of the ancient runes from the Ruins of King Deshret's Civilization.” “That does sound like quite the intriguing thesis, and I have to admit, I would also be interested in researching the history of the old civilization... But I’m not used to the harsh environment of the desert, I... Am not sure I would be a proper asset to the team.” Alhaitham hummed in understanding - Even Sumeru people had a hard time dealing with the desert, and knowing the landscapes and the weather from Liyue, he could see the reason behind her reticence. Still, he was passionate not only about this project, but about spending quality time with the woman before him, doing what they know best to do - Study. “As long as you’re willing to join the project, I can deal with accommodating you during the practical field research, as I’m more familiar with the country.” despite her skepticism, Y/N couldn’t help but accept, completely uncaring about any risk whatsoever. As long as she was able to spend time with the man in front of her, everything was going to be fine. “Alright, Alhaitham. Let’s make the most outstanding project the Akademiya has ever seen.” her positive outlook was a rather welcome change of pace, unlike Kaveh and his constant wish to either bicker with him, or complain.
For the rest of the years it took for both Alhaitham and Y/N to graduate, they went on a vast number of adventures - Considering the amount of time it took for them to reach the graduation, it was only fair that they extend their thesis for three major regions - Deshret’s desert area, Greater Lord Rukkhadevata’s Sumeru forests and Rex Lapis’ Liyue - Each of them, with their own distinct and fascinating manuscripts, writing styles, flora, fauna and civilizations that have been rapidly evolving throughout the years. Their project ended up truly being one worthy of envy, but not without merit.
The amount of times they got lost in the desert or had to fight mercenaries and treasure hoarders, got trapped inside pyramids, ruins and underground catacombs, had to solve puzzles and decipher codes, decode runes and languages lost to time, found relics and fossils, cave paintings and old manuscripts describing never-seen and never-heard before wildlife from all over the two countries.
“Are we ever going to find a way out of this mess of a tomb? I feel like a grave-robber that’s about to lose her sanity from the lack of food and water.” Y/N dramatically joked as she used her vines to propel herself up to some suspended platforms and activate some intricate mechanism that was going to open up the door - Hopefully, at least. “We haven’t done all this for all our work to be thrown down the drain.” as the door opened, he readied his sword to attack the activating perpetual robotic monsters, and together, they would fight - Yet Alhaitham especially felt a sense of protectiveness over Y/N - Whether it was over the fact that he’s practically responsible for her life, as he got her into the project... Or perhaps it was the fact that he feared anything happened to her. She was a talented healer, and she often used her vision power to shield him from imminent danger or mend some of the wounds he got from direct confrontation against multiple enemies that came in waves at once.
Though they had lots of practical field trips that involved a ton of travelling, the simpler parts of theoretical research was often done in far calmer environments, be it either of their homes, or a neutral place, namely the popular tea house, so they could also catch a bite. Unfortunately, Puspa cafe often hosted a ton of Akademiya students, and that more often than not meant some of their own classmates, that due to exceeding envy, ended up ruining their pleasant leisure time. Just like that one time when a junior from his own Darshan of Haravatat came over to their table - Masterfully and tactically chosen to be the farther-most, retreated from the majority of the people and in a corner away from the prying eyes - And put her hands on her hips, frowning down at them.
“What are you doing here?!” the stranger asked in a rather irritated voice, yet neither of the two even bothered raising their gaze and acknowledge her presence. “Hey - Don’t ignore me, you -- Gosh, you’re so rude.” still, no answer. “Alhaitham~! Why do you waste your time around such a boring woman? She’s no good, y’know? You don’t need to help her with her studies - She’s a plant lover from Amurta - Nowhere near our above-brilliant Haravatat intellect!” the girl whined, hoping to get the man’s attention, yet once again, she was met with no response. Infuriated, the girl threw herself on the couch next to him, clinging onto his arm and cuddling on his side. “Alhaitham~! You are my senior! You promised to help me with research. In fact - Let’s do our thesis together!” Much to her indignance, the stranger was shrugged off the sofa, and received an irked glare. “I have no idea who you are, nor am I interested in your identity, but I would like for you to stop bothering our study session, otherwise I will be forced to ask the patron to kick you out of the cafe for disturbing other customers.” the flabbergast expression on her face would have been amusing, were it not for her disgusting hostility. “Wait, no -- You can’t do that, I -- Alhaitham, don’t you remember me? I’m your Junior, Emiya! You gave me a book about deciphering ancient texts a month ago, remember?” she tried to plead, but was met with a firm, negative reply. “And you -- You have to stop parasiting him already! Do your own work, for once! Can’t you see you’re inconveniencing him?!” Y/N said nothing. “Say something!” “The Phoenix does not lose sleep over the idle chattering of mice.” Emiya’s eyes widened in complete confusion, though Alhaitham couldn’t help but let out a breath of amusement. She fancied herself an Empress, how lovely. “Wh-What?! You make no sense -- Hey, you’re in Sumeru, not in Liyue anymore, y’know? Get it right already.” for the first time, Y/N rose her gaze to meet Emiya’s; the junior shuddered slightly, realising the cold passiveness of her intimidating demeanour. “I don’t know what kind of delusions you like to feed yourself, but I would ask you to leave our table, unless you wish to get permanently banned from Puspa. I would like to return to the research I was doing for our thesis, until you so rudely interrupted our tireless work. Unlike you, we are not so carefree and leisurely.” Y/N curt voice had a frozen edge, intimidating the girl. “Well, whatever! Go back to your stupid grass work. Alhaitham and I have more intelligent research to conduct - And some practical research, perhaps?” Y/N had to turn her head slightly to the side, demurely hiding her mocking chuckle. “I believe it unethical, stealing one’s project partner. Alas, willow blossoms go in dreams, only to find sorrows hidden on the moon.” Emiya’s eyes were wide, and her jaw to the floor - Her mind had gone numb from stupidity. “You pride yourself with being a Haravatat student, yet you fail to comprehend even the most forward of poems. I have no intention of associating myself with mediocre people.” Alhaitham dismissed the tearing up girl with a bored wave of his hand; Y/N and him had to look away from each other to avoid chuckling, “So... I actually found this interesting Zaytun Peach wine recipe -- And I have some Glaze Lily flowers and Sweet Flower to make tea - I’ve got this snow kept for special occasions - I find tea made out of melted snow to have the richest aroma.” Y/N said, disclosing the contents of the book she was reading; The farthest away from being a research-based book. “The history of the Guili plains and the Guizhong ballista are also rather intriguing. I would be interested in finding out the blueprints and the thought concept behind it and its making.” he hummed in acknowledgement, enjoying reading about the past of Liyue and what similarities and differences exist between it and Sumeru. “Do we have any more of that special delivery Dandelion Wine from Angel’s Share?” “Of course! Master Diluc just recently had a few bottles delivered to me through his brother Kaeya, who was on an errand here in Sumeru. He didn’t stay long for catching up, but he brought the goods, so it’s fine either way.” with a shared look, the two got up and moved their leisure reading back to Y/N’s home, delighting themselves with the most quality wine that Teyvat had to offer. “That’s a fine deal.”
At some point, just a year before their graduation, Alhaitham was going to purchase some alcohol to celebrate a massive breakthrough he had in his research - And consequently, escaping yet another death-nearing experience - His ex-project partner, the senior architect student from Kshahrewar, spotted him. This blond man with a volcanic personality ended up shredding his joined thesis in a fit of frustrating rage, only to end up gluing back together out of regret, once he ended up all alone, bankrupt, and realising his once friend’s harsh words were actually viable advices that he should have heeded long ago.
There was no reproach in his words - Alhaitham had nothing to gain out of making Kaveh feel even more humiliated by his own failures, brought upon him mostly by his overly empathetic nature. He had to admit, bit of this precious and rather naive selflessness he could very often see in Y/N, which only made him feel more afraid that there might be some brainless deadbeats upsetting her or taking advantage of her benevolence.
Still, interestingly enough, after getting drunk enough to spill out all of his grievances, Kaveh found himself speaking of some rather interesting rumours. “Ever heard of the flower fairy rumour?” he asked. “They say once a month, at midnight, there’s this mystical being, beautiful as no other woman, and she dances on the sheen of the lake.” “You don’t seriously believe such ridiculous children stories, do you?” Alhaitham scoffed, raising the beer bottle and drinking a bit, yet his eyes never once left the blond. “I believe it more than the Wisdom Seelie, the children of the forest or the Aranara.” the architect grumbled. “How ridiculous.” still, he couldn’t admit, Alhaitham had his own suspicions on who this might be, and his professional curiosity had him want to come to a concludent answer. “Honestly, if that flower fairy is real, she might be the only living being capable of liking someone as arrogant and insufferable as you. No human woman could ever stand you.” Kaveh hiccuped as he sneered at his refound friend. Such a proposition sounded so much like a challenge, that Alhaitham found himself internally accepting.
Thus, every night for a whole month, Alhaitham hid behind a tree and investigated the lake area for any signs of this supposed fairy - And finally, his hard work came to fruition. From the direction of Y/N’s home, followed by an array of forest animals, the glowing silhouette of a gorgeous woman playing a sorrowful tune on the flute piqued his attention. Indeed, it was Y/N, just as he suspected, yet now he could see why she would be mistaken for a fairy. Wherever her barefeet would step, flowers would grow. Her long, light pink dress, flowy and embroidered with the finest gold thread, made her look like a lotus bloom. Her long hair of the most beautiful shade was embellished with royal-looking jewellery, and even her make up, so soft and delicate, yet so feminine, made her face look prettier than the moon itself.
Placing the flute inside her sleeve, Y/N stepped on the mirror sheen of the lake that seemed to sparkle with zircons from the silver light of the celestial body up on the dark night sky, and accompanied by what no doubt was an old Liyue melody, Y/N performed a dance, so enticing, so fluid, like a willow tree in the gentle breeze of spring. Every move she made, every little twitch and tweak of her joint, her body, all of them were perfectly calculated, even the amount of green dendro magic that made her performance even more alluring and worthy of being mistaken with a fictional mythical being.
By the time she was done, Alhaitham was leaning back on a tree, applauding. From the shock of being discovered, Y/N’s cheeks flared red with warmth and embarrassment. “Of course it had to be you who would find me out.” “It was actually a senior of mine who mentioned the rumours of this supposed flower fairy. I had my suspicions, and I felt compelled to have them approved or denied.” the corner of his mouth slightly twitched upwards in a smug smirk. “It seems my intuition hasn’t failed me yet.” “Tian na!” Y/N found herself softly shaking her head, a gorgeous smile gracing her features as she stepped on the soft grass next to him. “Fate sure has the weirdest ways of bringing people together.” Alhaitham found himself scoffing in distaste at the sheer notion of destiny. “Don’t use such foolish words. We are humans, and we create our of path in life. It is our actions and choices that define us, not the biblical or religious concept of a life already chosen and woven for you since before you are conceived and brought into this wor--” before he could continue rambling on about his own views on fate, Y/N reached up to pick his chin, bringing him down to her level, and with one hand on his shoulder to lean up, she captured his soft lips into a kiss that left him speechless from surprise.  “For years we have been friends, yet I cannot tire of how adorable you are when you’re so flustered that you end up ranting over the weirdest things.” Alhaitham wanted to scold her for doing something so uncharacteristic and unexpected, wanted to refute her claim of him ranting over ‘weird’ things - Or simply, the idea of him ‘ranting’ was ridiculous - Somehow, instead of all that, his body moved on his own and his brain took a short break, and the otherwise stoic man found himself cradling dearly Y/N’s form in his strong arms and sharing a much more loving and intimate kiss that seemed to allow the river of emotions to flow and come undone and expose itself in all its glory and vulnerability.
“You are bulshitting me because I’m drunk.” Kaveh growled at his friend. “You just randomly remembered those stupid rumours about the fairy thing and use that against me.” “I already told you, it’s not my job proving to you that I’m speaking the truth.” Alhaitham simply took another gulp of his beer. “But you said the fairy was just a stupid joke! And you never mentioned working on a thesis with someone else! Or having a friend, let alone a girlfriend! Hell, I thought nobody liked you! I still do!” the architect pointed an accusatory finger in his face. “I refuse to bother replying to your ridiculous disbeliefs anymore.” the scribe huffed, ready to take out his headphones and tune out the noise pollution that Kaveh was providing. “HEY, DON’T IGNORE ME! GIVE ME ANSWERS! I DON’T BELIEVE THAT STUPID STORY--” just as Kaveh shot up to his feet, slamming his hands onto the table, the front door was opened, and a beautiful woman entered the living room. “Honey, I’m home~!” her crystalline voice chimed, making Alhaitham smirk smugly and putting back his headphones in his belt pouch. “I brought some Osmanthus wine and moon cakes!” Kaveh’s eyes bulged out of their orbit and his jaw was to the floor, watching the beautiful woman plop down on the couch next to his friend and sharing such a tender kiss with him. “Oh - You must be Kaveh! I heard so much about you! I’m Y/N. Alhaitham’s fiance. I came to Sumeru from Liyue and enrolled in the Amurta Darshan course and graduated with a joined thesis written with him.” “F-F-Fi... Fi... Ance...?!” the blond fell back on his seat. “I-I thought you said... Girlfriend...” “I actually used the word ‘partner’, to be precise. You simply assumed, and I didn’t bother correcting you. If I were to correct every wrong supposition you’ve had since we’ve met... Well, I have better things to do with my time.” Alhaitham declared, his arm around Y/N’s waist, pulling her subtly to lean on his side, planting a kiss on her temple, purposely annoying his friend. “S-So... You mean... She -- And the Fairy -- And Tighnari’s friend -- And your Thesis partner -- They’re all the same person?!” the crestfallen expression on his face only made the beautiful lady hum in amusement. “Yes, I suppose that is me - I should thank you for the nickname - I think being called a Flower Fairy is highly flattering. Here is my gratitude.” with a graceful swish of her hand, Y/N created a flower crown on the architect’s hair. “...You may be lovely, but I swear, you almost have the same kind of mocking cruelty as he does, hidden behind a pretty smile.” Kaveh groaned, getting up and stumbling towards the other chamber, where his bedroom was. “HEY, HOLD UP! IF YOU’VE BEEN TOGETHER FOR SO MANY YEARS, WHY HAVE I NEVER SEEN YOU OVER?!” “No thirds wheels allowed on our dates.” seeing that annoyingly taunting smirk, and the implication behind those words, Kaveh let out another frustrated groan and shot into his room, not wanting to see either of the two anymore. “Perfect timing as always.” Alhaitham praised, pulling Y/N onto his lap. “Yes, well, I have to admit, I was getting cold out there, leaning on the door and waiting for you to finish that story already. Regardless... I think it’s adorable that Kaveh didn’t pick up that the reason you were so intrigued to continue speaking to me was because I fooled the Akademiya not to wear that Akasha device.” Y/N laughed lightly. “One of the many.” he said, bringing her flush against his chest. “Or perhaps, one might say, I was trapped under the charming spell of a certain flower fairy.”

COLLEGE AU TIGHNARI ROOMMATE HCS
Tighnari x gn reader
A/N: AUGGGHHHHH IM INSANE AGAIENEBWFWFWWGQ Missing tighnari hours oue so I will write out all the roomie hcs I have to share; per usual its self indulgent as hell
If im being fr this is probably gonna have a part 2 soon i always forget something 😭😭 also my art of him is down there somewhere!!!!
Cw: long af oh my god
Tumblr media
more utc
First Meeting:
- You’re a biology major or something similar and just visiting the college you’ll be attending
- You were definitely going to move into the dorms but you heard about and later witnessed some student running around like a maniac looking for a roommate
- You even got emails about it, found flyers on some of the pinboards around the school and even saw ads online (whether that be in some college gc app like zeemee or whatever)
- Eventually you did a bit of basic research on this guy by asking some of your friends or people who know him and you found out his name is Tighnari and he’s double majored in biology and botany
- You let him go on for a few days-a week before you realized he really wasn’t going to find a roommate this late in the game; feeling both pity and admiration for his dedication, you approached him with one of the flyers in your hand as the poor guy took a break from his ad campaign
- “Um… about this flyer…..”
- Tighnari’s ears immediately perked up oh you just made his week, no his month— maybe even his year
- “Yes? Are you interested in moving in? My previous roommate has begun living elsewhere” he explained.
- You’re hesitant, hoping you aren’t making a mistake but eventually steel yourself and figure you only live once right? Plus he could always help with your work! You give him a firm nod.
- Tighnari got a bit overexcited, asking way too many questions at once, “When can you move in? How will you be paying rent? Are you alright with plants? Right, by the way I’m Tighnari. I am a biology and botany major”
- “It’s nice to meet you! I’m (Y/n). I can move in soon and plants are fine! Uh …About rent! I’ll have to find a job but I do have some savings!” you confessed nervously.
- To tell the truth you weren’t planning on getting a job this early on, planning to get the hang of the new workload first but desperate times call for desperate measures (Cute guy in trouble 😤)
- Tighnari however, was unamused. His face completely dropped as if you’d just told him his entire family dropped dead, “You don’t have a source of income already…? Then why would you…. Sigh Nevermind. Its fine. This is fine. I’ll even help you job search”
- “Greeeaaatttt there goes my credit” he thought. And it showed on his face too.
- You just shoot him a silly smile and over the course of the days it took to move you into his apartment you establish some ground rules
Rules:
- He will do the cooking and he’ll cook for you if he’s cooking for himself (if he’s not cooking then you’re on your own)
- In return you do a majority of the cleaning although it’s still pretty split kinda like a 60/40 or 55/45 kind of deal
- You pay the water bill while he pays electricity (you take long showers and his plants and such sometimes require lamps + he just uses a lot of electricity I feel like it’s not usually for him but his plants and work)
- Visitors are pretty much always welcome but you have to let the other know beforehand
- Although the previous rule is true none of those kind of visitors are allowed. Tighnari has sensitive ears he don’t wanna hear that 😭😭
- Be cool and communicate if you have a problem
Apartment:
- SO MANY PLANTS. LIKE THEY ARE TAKING OVER THE APARTMENT . This is a big part of why Tighnari didn’t want to live in the dorms since he wouldn’t be able to have as many plants as he wanted
- It’s a little funny Cyno has really bad allergies so he never lived with him and Collei lived with him for a long time but moved out to move in with Amber (oue shes leaving the nest) (she’s in the apartment right below yours)
- You, as a biology major, on the other hand LOVE the amount of plants in the apartment and Tighnari is ecstatic because he was sooo worried you’d try to make him get rid of them or something; is even more glad that you like them as much as he does
- Also has a big tank of worms where he dumps all the leftovers neither of you eat. He then uses the compost as plant fertilizer
- Despite the amount of things in the apartment its very neat and organized; there are little notebooks next to every living thing to keep track of when and how to feed them
You and Him:
- He has a very old ass car but only uses it for emergencies because he’s not a fan of carbon emissions (usually goes places by public transport, walking or hitching rides) (its the little things that make a big difference ok)
- He works two jobs: One at a plant/flower shop and the other at the school library
- He sometimes brings home new plants because all the plants no one will buy are always given to him by management
- You work one or two jobs likely on campus maybe in the newspaper or the school cafe etc
- Either way whenever you get home tired or after just having a bad day he’d comfort you so much no matter how many days in a row you do the same thing, flopping on the couch and groaning
- When you first did it you two weren’t close but he still stroked your hair and offered you some words of praise but when you two became more comfortable he’d straight up hold you to his chest or let you lay on his lap while stroking your hair if you don’t mind
- “I really need to stop coddling you” he’d say this all the time but never follow through on it and you’d be in his arms as we speak 😅
- He never did stop coddling you. Whenever you watch a show or anime he’s right beside you on the couch reading his book as he glances up every now and again; sometimes gives his two cents on what’s going on in the show (my personal fave is him getting mad at the usopp going merry arc in water 7 bye)
- He has little black rectangular reading glasses idc idgaf he dresses like an old man too with cardigans and sweater vests, maybe overalls if he’s going out to do garden work (he has no sense of fashion we know this)
- If you’re willing to listen he will yap so much about his plants and about wildlife; his heart melts in his chest if you seem genuinely interested and are paying close attention
- You have a snail named Saniel/Saniela. You almost stepped on him and brought him inside, putting him in a little terrarium thing.
- Tighnari hates that thing (he doesn’t; he’s like a grumpy father with a new dog) if it gets out it will eat his plants, so watch it. 😤
- Posts it on his little conservation account (shoutout to the person who wrote that post where he had a conservation insta acc i cant find it) and it overtakes the page gn its his worst nightmare. First it steals his unofficial lover now his followers
- Yall would’ve been burned at the stake in the 1800s you’re always doing your “projects” in the house unless its dangerous (but you’ll still do it outside) like you seeing a girl on Tiktok grow mushrooms on a book so you try it at home…
- He always helps you with anyyyyything. You need help studying for this biology test? So does he, come on in. You need a shoulder to cry on? He has two!! You want a snack but you don’t want to ask too much of him? Don’t be ridiculous he’s making you something as we speak
- He’s actually such a sweetheart he worries about your diet so much; honestly he’s content knowing that you’re under his care bc then he knows you’re eating right
- He wakes up and starts his day INSANELY early and honestly if you manage to wake up before him he’d probably flinch seeing you up LOL he’s so not used to anyone being awake when he is let alone earlier
- Absolute hypocrite too, he won’t let you sleep too late no matter what day it is or whether you have class or not but when he does it he’s just busy smh
- Wouldn’t mind if you treated him the same although if it’s time sensitive he fears he cannot give in to your demands sigh
- He’s a worrywart and a leeeetle nagging but you can tell he cares and you care about him just the same
- You’re always doing whatever you can to take stress off of his shoulders like running errands for him, cooking for him/ordering takeout when he can’t cook, Taking care of his plants for him when he’s busy, etc
- If you work out in the house after moving in then it’s so over for him
- He’s insane. If you’re in the living room he will go “read” his book on the couch but he’s been on the same page the whole time, is he ever gonna flip?
- Not even like explicit workouts like squats or something; just seeing you push yourself to your limit and sweaty and grunting and— where was he again? Ah right page 52.
- It’s so much worse if you ask him to help in some way, he can’t focus at all especially if you ask him to sit on your back while you do pushups
- Also a fan of you being taller than him no matter the method. (Which isn’t hard to achieve bc I hc him like 5’1-5’3) Naturally tall? Great! Wearing platforms? Amazing! Standing on a stool? As long as he doesn’t look down then it’s hot
Tumblr media
Funny Bonus from the ari:
Tighnari: do you know anyone who still needs housing arrangements?? pls I’m desperate 😭
Alhaitham: you could take Kaveh
Kaveh: WOWWWW…

A LOVER’S RETREAT TO MONDSTAT
tldr: cyno x reader, tighnari x reader. i was tempted to write this as all three of them together but i decided against it. COLLEI IS LIKE A DAUGHTER TO ME…slight spoilers for the windblume event! slightly jealous tighnari in his part. mostly fluff. reader is from sumeru i guess…sososo sorry that tighnari’s part is shorter :( i wanted them to both be around the same length but oh well.
Tumblr media
TIGHNARI grips you tighter as the four of you reach mondstat’s city gate. the watchmen are looking at you with a little too much ‘windblume spirit’ — and he can admit it’s making him a little wary. collei is talking excitedly about her friend amber, and cyno is making jokes that nobody understands. you sigh, feeling tighnari squeeze you tighter when you pass a group of particularly drunk-looking guards.
“jealous of them, ‘nari?” you laugh. your boyfriend scowls, glaring daggers at whatever poor sap decided to look at you that night.
“you know i’m protective,” he interjects. he’s right— you’d never once felt truly in danger around him. tighnari’s gloved hands snake completely around your waist, and his hair tickles the back of your neck. he presses a kiss to your nape, before resting his face in your hair. “i take care of what’s mine, you know.”
before you can reply, tighnari is suddenly dragging you up the path that you have somehow fallen behind on. sly bastard!
Tumblr media
CYNO isn’t touching you as you arrive in mondstat, but he’s standing so close to you that it’s driving you crazy. something about him being “cyno the adventurer” and you being “y/n the beautiful dancer from sumeru”. why he had to put ‘beautiful’ in there, you didn’t know. but it was clear that he was trying to save some sort of face in front of his friends.
your relationship was certainly no secret; and especially since this was a vacation there was no reason to be shy. windblume was a time for romance for archon’s sake!
the traveler came and introduced you to a few people— namely sucrose, amber, and albedo. plans were made to go camping. you were ready for an exciting night under the stars on the beach with your lover.
“y/n, would you like to share a tent?” cyno asked, his white hair down and flowing down his shoulders. you gave him a funny look, and he gave you one right back.
“what sort of question is that? we live together, cyno.”
cyno blushed and scratches the back of his neck. “well, i suppose i just wanted to ask.”
you sigh, moving to sit right next to him. cyno’s arm winds it’s way around your waist until his warm hand is rubbing affectionately at your hip. instinctively, you lean closer into him until you’re practically in his lap.
“thanks, cyno.” you whisper, pressing a quick kiss to his cheek and delighting in how red his face goes in a matter of seconds.

୨୧ Unspoken Feelings of a Matra
Tumblr media
“ a certain someone has caught the eye of general cyno without even trying… “
ft. cyno x gn!reader
cw: fluff, mutual pining, cyno is sickly in love w you (same energy as a schoolgirl crush), wingman tighnari!!!!!!, bullet point notes, wrote this while brainrotting, not proofread
Tumblr media
>> 🍁 kazuha's musings : ty to @seveninchesfrominsanity for brainrotting with me about this… cyno is such a dork ugh I love him he’s great. also I hope it’s alr I included the concept that Collei has a bunch of romance novels!!! It’s such a funny and cute idea it was hard not to mention it somehow. I always seem to be spilling paragraphs when it’s about Cyno
Tumblr media
Cyno vividly remembers the first day he met you, which was when he had to confront you about the recent case of a group of Akademiya students smuggling canned knowledge and illegally selling them to certain classmates of yours. Right away he knew something was… Off about you, different. Back then he couldn’t put his finger on it, already too focused on the issue at hand to delve into the reasoning behind the way his mind felt more at ease simply by your presence.
You looked fairly unfazed when Cyno walked over to you with the same stoic look on his face, carrying that intense aura around him wherever he went. All you greeted him was a polite smile that he could tell wasn’t forced, not one bit. Your overall presence and conversation that somehow slowly turned more relaxed thanks to you put Cyno at ease—even if it was only slightly.
When you became acquainted, Cyno would have just called you ordinary. An ordinary Akademiya student who hadn’t even heard about knowledge capsules being spread around until Cyno had inquired you about it—him being fairly surprised when you insisted to Celestia and back with helping him with investigating; as you were quite agitated by students who seemed to take their time at the almighty Akademiya for granted. Now, he wouldn’t say it out loud but there would be much, much more he’d have to say about you…
He shouldn’t dwell too much on the details, though. In the end, you ended up helping him out and getting your hands on leads that he probably wouldn’t have been able to obtain if this was a one-man operation. From that day forward, you’d be happy to call the matra one of your friends and he would as well. Surprisingly Cyno had found himself running into you quite often; at some point he would’ve just thought wherever he was you probably weren’t too far off.
One day, Cyno decided he should test one of his latest jokes on you—one that had been brewing in his mind for at least a week or so. He normally told jokes as to “lighten the mood”, but you already seemed to act natural around him. It’s alright, he might as well take this opportunity to stop pestering Tighnari with his latest material and, if he was lucky enough, to strengthen your bond at the same time.
Once he had told the joke, the last thing he was expecting was watching your face break out into a huge smile and hearing you softly giggle at him… Huh, he wasn’t anticipating this to happen. You must be easily amused or maybe his jokes have gotten better! He’ll be sure to relay this information to Tighnari soon.
Tighnari couldn’t contain the slight irk on his face once Cyno told him that a poor soul out there was subjected to one of Cyno’s jokes and actually found them funny. And he couldn’t help but notice the upbeat of Cyno’s mood or the barely visible smile on his face when he was talking about you…
Cyno developed a habit of telling his jokes more often around you—telling himself that as your friend, a part of his duty is to make your day better with his corny jokes. But maybe, just maybe, deep down there was another reason to this. Like the way your eyes squinted and creased at the sides, a faint dimple or two that showed on your muscles whenever you smiled; or was it that wonderfully soft laugh that rang in Cyno’s eardrums?
He wanted to keep hearing you laugh, to see you smile because of him. Yes, it’s perfectly normal for someone to want to see their friend happy. Not only that, but this foreign feeling had begun to form and flutter around Cyno’s chest; a strangely light and airy sensation that at times clouded his sharp mind. Was it normal to be feeling like this? He had never felt this way when he first met you, so why was it growing stronger by each interaction he had with you…
Moreover, why did Cyno want to chase this feeling? Was he sick, maybe? Or something had happened in the past weeks he had befriended you that slipped past him? Now, just thinking about you made his stomach fill with butterflies and chest tighten in such an uncomfortable and wonderfully weird way.
“…Are you stupid?”
“Pardon?”
Cyno stared at Tighnari blankly as he stared back, face written in obvious annoyance and deadpan. Cyno had taken a quick visit to Gandharva Ville and looked for Tighnari to discuss his… dilemma with you. Once Cyno had relayed your past encounters and his ‘symptoms’, that was when he was gifted with a painfully unamused look from his close friend.
Tighnari looked conflicted almost, trying to think of what to say in a way where Cyno still understood his point; letting out an exasperated sigh. “Listen, I’m not expert in this, but… I think you just have a crush on them.” he guessed just being plainly honest was the best method instead of sugercoating it.
Unfortunately for Tighnari, Cyno just happened to be as dumb as a rock when it came to relationships. Cyno shot him a cold glare, face slightly reddening at Tighnari’s words. Oh boy, he’s still in the denial stage.
He quirked an eyebrow, “What do you mean by that?”
“Well, everything you said seems to check out my hypothesis.” Tighnari casually stated, absentmindedly pulling out a notebook and jotting down some notes for a reason unknown to Cyno.
When he looked back up at him, he just looked… confused. Still totally lost while he was desperately trying to connect the pieces to no success in his brain. If he kept this up any longer, Tighnari’s brain would probably melt from how dense he was being.
“How would you feel if they went on a date with another guy?” Tighnari blurred out and flipped his notebook shut; carefully watching Cyno’s reaction as his eyes widened at the strangely sudden question.
He may be well versed in keeping a neutral face, but Cyno couldn’t contain the grimace when he further pondered on the hypothetical scenario; remembering the numerous times he’s heard your laughter only this time, it’s because of another person.
“…Tch.”
“See~?” Tighnari was halfway-amused by Cyno’s strong reaction to this idea, “Might as well admit it now instead of letting yourself suffer in denial—Master Tighnari’s always right, as they say…”
At this point, Tighnari and Collei had met you a couple of times; just enough to get familiar with what you were like. It was suffering for Tighnari to watch Cyno blush and get tongue-tied just from you looking at him or seeing Cyno stand there like a lovesick buffoon; staring at you from afar after parting ways.
Collei had listened to a few muttering complaints about Cyno’s dense attitude from Tighnari a couple of times; but she was mostly too embarrassed to try and give her own input on Cyno’s situation. The only kind of intense love she felt for someone was familial and for Amber, and Collei always thought she was too young to be thinking about things like dating…
However, she did have a varied collection of romance light novels stored away in a bin in her bedroom. This genre wasn’t something she would’ve chosen herself, but Amber seems to keep sending them for whatever reason… But, maybe these books could prove some use to Cyno! It wasn’t much, but it felt like it was the least she could do after Cyno helped her through such difficult times in the past…
She’s way too flustered to try and give these to Cyno in person, so she wraps them in paper and asks Tighnari to give them to Cyno next time he visits. Tighnari had tried asking what exactly she was giving him, but decided it wasn’t anything to worry about and gave the package to Cyno without a word.
Fair to say he was really surprised by the contents of the package, carefully reading the note Collei had written.
“I’m not exactly sure what your relationship is with (Name), but both Master Tighnari know you seem to really care about them! Amber kept giving me these books when sending letters, and I think they’d be useful for you right about now. P.S. Please don’t tell Master Tighnari I gave you these! He’d probably confiscate them if he knew… -Collei”
Cyno’s conversation with Tighnari had stuck with him for a while, he needed some time to sit on it. Sure, he liked you, but romantically? Romance was something that never interested him once, but if the context is related to you somehow, then…
He needed to confirm this possibility for himself. Next time he’d meet you, he’ll take note of how he was feeling before he saw you and after; call it a little experiment of his. Only thing is, the simple thought of running into you made Cyno more excited than it’s worth.
Poor guy just really needs a wake up call. It takes a long while for Cyno to finally stop lying to himself and say “Yes, I like them.” once he did accept this, he was still trying to wrap his brain around the concept of love. Tighnari was so relieved that the constant gnawing feeling could finally stop once his friend came to terms with his romantic attraction for you, but that would only be the beginning to a long, never-ending journey…
Now with Cyno’s acceptance arc out of the way, he decides it’s time to find a way to try and convey how he feels in a very discreet way (keyword; discreet) He had taken a few notes on the romantic novels Collei had gifted him, deducing that people favour grand romantic gestures and dates at places that ‘set the mood’, per say.
Tighnari had been convinced to help Cyno in his mission to impress you multiple times. He could have easily said no, but maybe a part of him did want to see his friend happy with someone he clearly cared a lot about.
Cyno always said went to Tighnari to discuss new ideas to win your affection; and one time he told Cyno that you probably liked people who made you laugh, and that he already had some form of advantage(?) in this category.
As soon as he said that, the pit of dread formed in his stomach once he saw the scarily excited and determined look on Cyno’s face. Now he had a new reasoning behind his jokes: one, to ‘lighten’ the mood and two, to see you happy.
“(Name).” You perked your head up from the book you were reading to look at Cyno, who was going through a set of Genius Invokation cards to match with the newest ‘meta’.
When you returned his gaze with a curious look, Cyno could feel his cheeks burn; but he kept his face apathetic, “I’d like to tell a joke.” he said.
“Sure!” You chirped back, closing the book shut and turning all your attention to your friend.
He coughs, “Why do we tell actors to ‘break a leg’?”
“I don’t know?”
“…To get into the ‘cast’.”
… Was it not funny? Cyno frowned, he was sure that’d make you laugh, maybe if he were to explain it then—
“Hehe… Ahaha…!” you cut off his thoughts when he heard you laugh, a sweetly airy and genuine giggle that matched perfectly with the adorable smile on your face. You were cute, he thought, eyes softening at your reaction only to find himself with a question that would forever be left unanswered.
Whenever he tried to make you fall for him, why would he only fall harder?
Tighnari ended up finding himself perched up in a tree while tinkering with a pair of binoculars; spying over you and Cyno’s afternoon “date”. (Collei had caught him up in a tree or two on a number of occasions, but she had managed to put the pieces together on what he was doing and to not interfere despite how curious she was…)
I don’t think it could even be called a date, it was more like a casual hangout between two people but one of them had happen to be sickly smitten over their friend. It had taken an embarrassing amount of courage for Cyno to ask you out to lunch, Tighnari quietly hyping him up and sending a weak thumbs up before watching him go and talk to you.
It had been going well so far, Tighnari ignoring the way Cyno sometimes tripped up on his words or looked like he was desperately trying to hold it together; but well enough that the two of you were having a good time. He zoomed further in, amplifying the focus as he watched you two casually talk and walk along the path leading to Sumeru City.
The reason why Cyno had asked Tighnari to watch was to take notes on his ‘performance’. He already scribbled a few lines onto the paper; such as ‘body too stiff’ and ‘speak louder you lummox!!!!!’ The mostly uneventful event continued as expected, Tighnari having to awkwardly shuffle into a corner of the restaurant you ate lunch at without getting noticed by you. He was mostly waiting on Cyno to do something he had planned before the designated time of your date, which was to give you a Sumeru rose and proclaim a brief and romantic speech before you left.
When that moment did come, the words only got caught in Cyno’s throat when you innocently turned to look at him after grabbing your attention. Was is always this difficult to speak? Or was it just your glowing radiance that made the matra quite literally stunned. He awkwardly crumpled the small sheet of paper stuffed into the fist of his hand, eyes turned down to the grassy fields supporting his feet before pulling a Sumeru rose from behind his back.
Cyno saw your eyes widen slightly in his peripheral vision, before a smile spread across your face with no restraint.
“…I had fun today, and I heard people give each other gifts to show their appreciation. So this is for you.” he quietly choked out, hand extended outwards to you and praying you didn’t see the slight quiver in his fingertips and palms sweating.
“Pff— Ahahahah…! I may or may not have gotten a rose for you, too…” you sheepishly reached behind you to reveal a freshly picked red rose in your grasp, its petals still in full bloom and painted in a beautiful red like wine.
When did you get that? He was sure he would’ve noticed it… Also, was he dreaming right now? He honestly felt like he may of passed out right then are there, but he quietly plucked the flower from your hands as you did the same. Cyno stared at it contemplated, staring at the individual petals before looking back at you with disbelief.
“But, why…?”
You cocked your head to the side confused, “Why? I think we both know the answer, wouldn’t you agree?” you smiled knowingly at the white haired man in front of you, grinning at his cutely dumbfounded expression.
“Your friend Tighnari knows a lot about plants, so I’m sure he knows the meaning of certain flowers…” your words trailed off and eyes wandered to the rose in Cyno’s hand, Cyno missing the red tint on your cheeks as you turned away.
“I should get going now.”
“Do you want me to accompany you?”
“Oh, no need. The sun’s just start setting, I’ll be okay. Be safe on your way home, Cyno!” you waved happily goodbye, quickly setting off on your way while Cyno stood there—slowly watching your form walk towards the horizon until he couldn’t see you anymore.
He looked down at the red rose, the meaning behind them…
“All roses tend to flourish best in full sunlight.” Tighnari approached Cyno slowly from behind, stretching his arms and turning to look at him with a somewhat smug smile tugging at his lips “They grow in moist, well-drained soil in warm environments. And as for the meaning…
The red variety symbolize passion and love. Some think the deeper the shade represents how committed you are to someone; but it depends on the person. I suppose. What do you think, Cyno?”
Really, he couldn’t be more happier.

Note
Sumeru hexagon brainrot because I've been rewatching the recent event scenes but also expanding on the one thing of darling being a commentator as well!
I'm thinking of darling freaking out watching the boys trying to hurt each other and especially after Kaveh deals with the diadem they rush towards him and begin fawning over him super worried about him being hurt. (Subtle side glare to wanderer as well for being real rough on the poor boy's side. That ameno blast got him good!)
And Kaveh is so dramatic he'd definitely play it up some more to bask in the undivided attention. And then him learning of what exactly happened to his dad? Darling gets a drunk Kaveh at her doorstep in the middle of the night and ends up caring for him more.
Of course as a thank you Kaveh invites her for a meal (and pays for it! Thanks to Cyno buying the card). Instead of inviting them to the meal with Cyno and Tighnari because he'd be able to have darling to himself. (But we know how resourceful those other boys are and they may or may not have found out and crashed the date).

If Kaveh had a mora for everytime his advances faced subjugation, he'd have... a lot of mora.
At this point, he can't say he's surprised at the turn of events. If anything, it's Kaveh's failure for not expecting it and taking necessary precautions. Oh well, he just wanted to share a nice meal with you! Was that so much to ask for??
Apparently.
“[Name], I told you, you should've left him outside last night instead of inviting him over. See the look he's giving me!” the hatted boy Kaveh's seen hanging by your person more often than not side eyes him, “whispering” not so discreetly but very purposefully by your ear, a hand raised in mock cover and all the shebang. Kaveh's left eye twitches as he struggles to keep the amiable smile on his face, hands curling into fists beneath the table as his eyes meet coy blue ones.
“I think Hat Guy here has a point, you look unnecessarily agitated, Kaveh.” chimes in a certain scholar seated on your right, Tighnari and Cyno take an eager sip of their drinks at the sight.
Kaveh's carefully maintained countenance almost shatters at the comment, but a look at your face has him halt at the last second, he promised to keep himself in check, he reminds himself. The sheer audacity of these kids! Crashing on his moment and then blaming him for getting annoyed?
“Well, why do you think I am as agitated as I look?” the architect points a fork towards the Scribe from across the table.
“Simple, because you cannot keep your emotions in check.”
“That's it, I've had—”
“Enough, you two.”
Kaveh freezes in his position as your words still the chatters. Yet, the tension in the air only becomes more tangible as five pairs of eyes await your next course of action.
You gently remove the hatted boy's arm from yours (ignoring his reluctance to let go), shifting to address each of the men, “Kaveh has a valid point for being irritated, after all, you four did barge in uninvited. But we're not strangers, so there shouldn't be an issue for us to cooperate and make the most of this meal. Right, Kaveh?”
The addressed architect sits back down with a huff, acquiescing with a heated ‘fine’ after some deliberation. With your declaration, everyone relaxes in various degrees. It's not until Tighnari quips up does the silence break, “[Name] is right, you know. We're all friends, do we really need permission to join each other?”
The ex-harbinger notices the General Mahamatra look at the Forest Ranger by the corner of his eye, the impish tone of Tighnari's words is just noticeable enough for everyone to catch but not to comment on, how interesting.
“Well, it wouldn't hurt to let your friends know beforehand, either, right?” the architect shots back.
Cyno takes over unexpectedly, “Of course not. But I'm with Tighnari on this, friends trust each other enough to let down boundaries. It's not like we have any other intention except wanting to spend time with each other, so what is there to get worked up for?”
“There is a reason to get worked up because I was on a da—”
Kaveh chokes back his words midway, the air suddenly feeling electric. He dares not look, he doesn't need to, for he can feel the men's eyes piercing through his soul at the slip up.
“You were on a da...?” Tighnari urges and despite not following, you find yourself holding your breath.
“I was on a, on a.. da.. da..dat—”
Kaveh makes the mistake of looking right and the sight of a pulsating anemo vision has him gulp.
“—dessert! I was on my dessert! Oh goodness, this thing is delicious! Why would you all interrupt me enjoying it? Hahaha.”
The electricity dissipates without a trace, the air suddenly much easier to breath in. You're left there blinking, not really grasping the point of that exchange as Kaveh gobbles up a random sweet treat to affirm his words. Cyno and Tighnari exchange triumphant glances and Alhaitham goes back to his book, Hat Guy leans back in his seat and Kaveh heaves a sigh of relief.
What a close call.

CYNO NFSW HEADCANONS!!!
NFSW topics involved 🤗
^°•^°•^°•^°•^°•^°•^°•^°•^°•^°•^°•^°•^°
Likes it when you call him general in bed 🤭
Just imagine him thrusting into you both his hands on your hips allowing him to pound into you reaching deep inside you while your hands play with your nipples. "General" you whimper suddenly it's like a switch flips in him and suddenly he's thrusting into you in a inhumane pase
He's pretty quiet. He'd occasionally whimper or let out soft moans but when he's about to cum that's when he starts letting out moans
As the General Mahamatra he's pretty busy and imagine the stress 😢 my poor baby, but just imagine the amazing office sex. He'd sit you down his desk and wrap both your legs around his waist as he made out with you. Your arms wrapped around his neck while his hands tried to take off your shirt.
He's big 🤭 he knows this so he takes his time preparing you that and he loves seeing you beg for him to be inside you.
You'd have to beg for a while in order for him to agree to have a threesome with Tighnari. It would probably happen around Tighnari's heat cycle. He knows what his friend is going through so he agrees but Cyno wants most of your attention on him though. Maybe he'd even watch Tighnari go feral on you and give him tips that would make you scream {Ok but like a threesome with these two I'd fucking die😖😖}
Speaking of begging Cyno loves it when you come into his office begging to be fucked. He'd make you strip down and sit on his dick making you cockwarm him for a while. 😣
But when Cyno is feeling needy when your working he'd sit you on his lap take off your shirt and begin massaging your boobs and grinding his hips on you until you give up and let him have his way with you
Wear his clothes and he'd go fucking crazy on you
Cyno doesn't need sex toys he can make you go dumb with just his fingers and dick but if you want toys he's happy to overstimulate you with them till your begging for him to stop
As the General he'd sometimes be away from you for an extended amount of time when he comes back he'd make up for lost time with whatever you want. Want to cuddle? He's ready. Want him to instead fuck you into the bed and remove your ability to walk? He's on it 😊
^°•^°•^°•^°•^°•^°•^°•^°•^°•^°•^°•^°•^°
Reblogs, likes, and requests are appreciated!
Thank you!!!

I. To look out for one another Those who are unfamiliar with the Avidya Forest and its diverse ecosystem can always rely on the Forest Watchers to ensure their safety. Serving as the homebase for the rangers, Ghandarva Ville is almost always abuzz with activity. There are reports to be finished, experiments to be conducted, and a whole list of commissions to be completed as soon as possible.
“As soon as you’re done taking pictures of the blooming Lunar Lotuses, have them filed away in my office. Then take out the notes to my latest experiment and leave them on my desk.” Tighnari walks swiftly across one of the many hanging bridges, a trainee ranger nodding quickly as they note down what he’s saying. “Oh, and when you’re finished with those, find Collei and do a quick sweep of the perimeter. Note any abnormalities and signs of any Withering Zones, but do not engage.” The poor trainee could barely get a word in, stumbling over their steps as Tighnari’s eyes remained laser focused on his destination: his office. He isn’t usually like this, tense and rushed to get to places, but with the amount of work on his plate he’s had no choice but to enlist the help of the anxious trainees who simply want to graduate and become fully fledged Forest Watchers.
“Whoa there, slow down.” Tighnari nearly crashes into a figure who steps into his way. You stand in the middle of the path, hands held out in front of you and eyes raised as you look between a flat-faced Tighnari and an anxious trainee.
“(y/n).” The head of the Forest Rangers clears his throat, eyes darting away from you to look around before they’re finally brought back to your face. “Did you need something?”
“Actually, yes. I’ve been looking for you.” You put your hands on your hips, staring him down with a pointed look. You can’t help but let your eyes drag up to his ears, taking quick note of the way they twitch, too alert to every little sound around. He’s too on edge, too stressed, and while you’d never outright tell him, it’s part of your job, as his friend, to take care of him when he falls into these moods. “I left something for you in your office, try to check it out when you can?” You jut your bottom lip out just slightly and nearly grin with success when you see the way Tighnari’s shoulders begin to relax and his ears perk up at the mention of you leaving something for him.
“Right, of course, I’ll go see it right away.” He turns to the trainee but you’re quicker, tugging the young ranger towards you and throwing an arm around their shoulders.
“Don’t worry, you’ve given them more than enough to do.” You begin to turn their body in another direction, gently trying to push them away. The trainee’s eyes flicker nervously between you and Tighnari, almost as if they were afraid that an argument might break out for you. But to their surprise, they watch as a soft sigh leaves Tighnari’s lips and he hums in agreement, nodding for the trainee to begin their tasks.
You watch them scurry away and bump your shoulder against your oldest friend’s. “Go easy on them. And take a break, you deserve it.” You make your leave, unaware of the way Tighnari’s stare lingers on your retreating figure a bit longer than it should. And when he enters his office, he finds a neatly wrapped botany book of the latest edition sitting on his desk. And to his delight, you’ve made little notes along the margins, filled with inside jokes and pokes at the Akademiya. Perhaps he’ll think of something to give you in return.
II. To reassure one another “Master Tighnari! I can’t find (y/n) anywhere, I’ve searched all over Ghandarva Ville and asked around, but no one’s seen them!” Collei’s voice rises higher and higher in pitch as she bursts into his office, eyes wild and chest heaving up and down, a clear sign that she truly has been running all over the place. “They came back from their expedition yesterday looking upset but I wasn’t sure what to say to them. I thought I could talk to them today but no one’s seen them!” The young trainee continues to ramble, hands flying around nervously as Tighnari patiently waits for her to finish. When she finally does, with a heavy exhale, he offers her a small, but reassuring smile.
“I’ll go look for them, don’t worry.” He pats her head, “I’m sure everything is okay, perhaps they simply needed some time alone.” Already, he’s thinking about all the places you might be as he ushers Collei out of his office, sending her back towards her room so she can get some rest. He waits for a moment before turning away, quietly slipping away from the bright lights of Ghandarva Ville to the grassy outskirts. He follows a familiar path, one he’s walked down countless times until he approaches an old moss covered hut with a light flickering on from the roof. He finds you there, sitting with your legs hanging over the edge, back towards him when he reaches the top of the ladder. You’re half leaning against a crate, shoulders drooping as you stare ahead at Sumeru City.
“You’ve given everyone quite a scare, you know.” You flinch at his voice, sitting up instantly and turning to watch as he settles down next to you. His knee knocks against yours and he playfully kicks his feet at you.
You let out a huff, “Just wanted some space. Besides, I would’ve returned by sunrise.” Tighnari remains silent for a moment, taking the chance to look over your features. He can see the way your body tries to curl inwards, eyes downcast and hands limp on your lap. Even when you address him, there’s no hint of that smile he’s grown to be so fond of day by day.
“I don’t doubt that.” He chuckles softly and raises his head to stare up ahead at the city. “So what’s going on, talk to me. I’m all ears.” You can’t help but let out a tiny laugh when you notice the way his ears perk upright. Tighnari ignores the way his cheeks flush when he hears the sound escape your lips and settles closer to you, waiting as you collect your thoughts.
“From anyone else’s perspective, the expedition was a success. We collected enough data, stopped two withering zones, and made it back alive. But so many of us have injuries because I couldn’t properly assess the situation. It makes me question my position as a Forest Watcher, sometimes I don’t think I’m cut out for this job.” Tighnari listens without interrupting, too aware of the way your voice gradually gets dimmer. He waits until you finish, the burden finally seeping off of your shoulders and into the rising moon.
He waits for a moment, allowing you to take in the silence before speaking up again. “I think you’re a wonderful Forest Watcher. In fact, I think you’re one of the best we’ve ever had. No one else quite knows how to navigate the forest like you do, in fact, you tend to spot more things than I do during expeditions. What happened wasn’t your fault, no one was expecting a group of rogue Eremites to ambush you. I think you handled the situation as best as you could, and I know everyone else thinks so too.” You don’t reply to his words, but Tighnari watches a tiny smile appear on your lips. You don’t have to say it aloud, but when you lean closer to him, resting your head onto his shoulder, he can feel just how thankful you are for him.
III. To apologize the morning after a fight “Archons above, you can be so irresponsible!” Tighnari snaps. There’s no teasing tone, no poking words or playful twitches of his ears. Instead he’s standing with a rigid pose, composure flying out the window as his words seem to echo in the space around you. Your home suddenly feels too small, with his presence far too overwhelming. His eyes are hard and furious, hands clenched as he glares you down as if you were an insolent child. “Apparently, I can't trust you with anything! If you see a Withering Zone you report it, you don’t dive head first into it. It doesn’t matter if you’ve been able to handle it before, it takes one chance for something to go wrong. What if I wasn’t patrolling that area as well, what would have happened, huh?”
“I’ve handled things like this on my own before, you’ve watched me do it! Since when did you lose trust in me this fast?” You shoot back, hurt, bleeding from your words. Admittedly, trying to take on a Withering Zone wasn’t the best decision to make, but you had handled them well in the past.
“Sometimes I wonder how you become a Forest Watcher if you act like this so often.”
It hurts, more than he’ll let himself believe, as he watches your face crumble at his words. He wants to apologize, to move closer and pull you into a hug and promise you he didn’t mean any of it, especially when he sees the tears already gathering in your eyes.
“Right.” You take a deep breath and clear your throat. Your voice breaks when you say it again and you look up at him, desperately hoping the tears don’t fall. “I think you should leave.” Tighnari doesn’t move. No, he doesn’t want to move.
“Go. Please.” You look towards the door. He says your name softly, as if ready to make his apologies but you’re shaking your head, turning around so you can’t see your expression as the words start to dig deeper into you. “I don’t want you here, right now. So leave, please.” The shakiness in your tone is enough to get his feet moving, and he finds himself leading his body away from your home, away from you. And when his ears twitch when he hears the first sob break through your lips, he pauses. But he keeps going, and forces his head down, refusing to look back.
As a new morning dawns upon the forest, Tighnari is the first to wake, running through his typical morning routines before swinging over to your home, knuckles rapping against the door as he patiently waits for you to answer. He knocks again when there’s no answer, rocking back and forth on his feet, straining his ears to see if he can hear anything.
“(y/n)?” Nothing. “I’m coming in, I hope you’re not asleep!” He smiles to himself at the words, already imagining you still buried under the warmth of your sheets, groans slipping past your lips as you complain about it being too early to be up. But when he pushes the door open, he’s greeted with nothing but silence. You’re not there. It takes him a second for the realization to sink in before he’s scanning the small room, searching for any sign of you. Your travel pack is gone and bed neatly made, clearly indicating you hadn’t stayed the night. Tighnari swallows thickly as he recalls the words he had said in his moment of frustration and curses himself as he walks outside, nearly running headfirst into Umm.
“Oh? Master Tighnari, what are you doing here?” She tilts her head, hand holding a pad of paper with notes on whatever medication she was working on.
“I was going to visit (y/n), we had a disagreement last night. Do you know where they went?” He asks hopefully but his heart only sinks when she tilts her head in confusion.
“I thought they had gone on ahead and told you? They came by the medical hut last night to see if we needed any help. Turns out we were running low on Vasanti Grass and the nearest merchant is at Port Ormos. They left last night and said they would let you know since it’s rather important for us to have. It must have slipped their mind, I wouldn’t worry about it, they know how to protect themselves well.” Umm smiles warmly at him, patting his arm in comfort before she continues on her path towards Collei’s hut. Tighnari stares back at your now closed door, his heart squeezing in his chest. His apology would have to wait, but Archons why did it hurt this much to see you gone?
IV. To (try to) stop Tighnari from tripping on mushrooms Avidya Forest is home to so many living beings, from fungi, calm and dangerous, to lurking spinocrocodiles and the many different species of flora that thrive in the environment. But Avidya Forest has also made itself home to the many Forest Rangers who adore its wilderness. And after nearly a week of being gone to barter for Vasanti Grass at Port Ormos, returning back to the forest feels like a warm blanket of comfort settling over your shoulders. The other rangers call out excited greetings, waving from their posts and asking how your journey was.
Still, there’s no sign of Tighnari, and while you knew he was busy, a small part of you had hoped throughout the entire trip that he might be waiting for you. The trip to the port had allowed you the chance to think about the relationship shared between you and Tighnari. It was a precarious dance, with precise footwork, never to step forward too much, or pull away too fast. It was shared stories beneath the sun, and whispered secrets beneath the moon, a story of two friends who toed the line towards something more. And under the light of the moon, each night you could only wonder how he was faring, and if he was thinking of you too. But you brush it off as a foolish thought, after all, you had been the one to leave unexpectedly in the middle of the night without a word or any sign of your departure. Perhaps the fight was still present in his mind.
“(y/n)! You’re back!” A smaller figure crashes into you, arms wrapping around your middle as green hair fills your vision. You can’t help but grin at Collei’s excitement, returning the warm sentiment as you apologize for leaving so abruptly. She speaks rapidly, brushing off your concerns as she attempts to catch you up on the wellbeing of everyone else over the past week. She rambles about the experiments and patrols she’s taken part of, the new skills she’s learned as an archer, and all the little things that you can’t help but laugh at when she pouts.
“Oh! I completely forgot!” Her hand grasps your wrist and she tugs you across one of the bridges, towards Tighnari’s hut. “Umm said to find you when you returned because Master Tighnari isn’t feeling well! She said something about mushrooms and you having Vasanti Grass?” You paused outside his door. Mushrooms?
Ah. Mushrooms. Tighnari and his bad habit of trying the wild plants of Sumeru.
“I’ll check up on him, don’t worry.” You force a smile to your lips in an attempt to reassure Collei. She stares at you for a moment, as if she could sense there was some unresolved tension between the two of you. “Go on ahead and let Umm know that I’ll bring her the rest of the Vasanti Grass when I’m done.” The young trainee ranger is off in a matter of seconds, calling out a wish of good luck as she stumbles away. She leaves you alone, standing outside Tighnari’s door with a wall of unsaid words seemingly trying to push you away.
“Tighnari? Hey, are you awake?” You push open the door gently. His hut is cool, no doubt from the opened windows that invite the morning breeze in. Tighnari lies on his bed, ears flat against his pillow as he groans and turns over. His eyes are hazy and his mouth parts when he takes sight of you.
His words are slow, almost slurred when he asks, “(y/n)? Is that you?” You grimace at the sight and immediately set to grinding some of the Vasanti Grass. He’ll need it when whatever he’s eaten wears off and he’s left with a headache and the groggy feeling of trying to remember what happened.
“No… they’re still in Port Ormos, I think. Hey fake-(y/n)?” You bite your lip to stop yourself from laughing. You’ll hold this over his head later when he whines about not remembering everything. “Can you tell the real (y/n) I miss them? I didn’t mean what I said, I miss them.” Your hand tightens around the pestle as you brush the grass.
“I fought a giant mushroom today because I thought I heard their voice asking for help. I thought I had lost them to the Withering.” Tighnari’s words are slower, his voice lower, and you want to believe that he sounds sad. “I can’t lose them, can you tell them that?”
You turn around quickly, a strained smile on your lips as you lift your hand to rest on his forehead, fingers itching to scratch at his ears which twitch at your movements. “Why don’t you tell them when they return, yeah?”
“Sure, I guess. I hope they come back soon, I miss them.”
V. To always forgive one another When Tighnari wakes the next morning his mouth feels dry and his head is a mess. He pushes himself up from his bed, sleepily reaching for water at his bedside table when another hand pushes a cup into his hand. He manages out a grumbled thanks before sipping at the cool drink, closing his eyes as he tries to remember everything from the past day. To his luck, he remembers nearly everything, which is a success for his research. It means this type of mushroom isn’t detrimental to the memory, and it only prompts hallucinations. Right, he hallucinated you had come back.
“Archons above.” He groans and with his eyes still closed he swings his feet off the bed and pushes himself up quickly to grab the journal on his desk. But before he can move far, scrambled hands push him back towards the bed, snatching the cup out of his hand before it can splash all over him and his bed.
“What do you think you’re doing?!” Tighnari’s eyes snap open and he has to blink multiple times for the world to come into focus. And to his shock, you stand in front of him, irritated expression on your face as you stare him down.
“You’re back.”
“What? Yes, I’m back, I’ve been back since yesterday morning!” Tighnari’s brain is still trying to process everything, his mind running to catch up with him.
He gapes at you, “Wait, since yesterday morning? So then you were actually—”
“How many times have I told you to stop trying mushrooms? You know you’re going to end up bedridden when you eat them so why do you keep trying them? And don’t say it’s for the sake of knowledge!” You snap at him and immediately apologize softly when he winces at how loud you are. His ears droop atop his head and you instantly feel bad when he starts to pout. That feeling disappears when his head shoots up to look at you, eyes narrowed in confusion before they widen dramatically.
“Wait, so the fake-you was real? You heard all that?”
“You remember all that?”
“Please tell me you weren’t there yesterday morning.” He brings one hand up to run over his face, his last few words muffled into his palm.
“Is it that bad if I was?” He can hear the hint of hurt in your tone. Silence stretches between the two of you. He shakes his head and takes in a shaky breath, readjusting himself and gesturing for you to sit down next to him. He hates the space that’s between the two of you, aware of the way your arms seem to press closer to your body as if ready to help you push up and away.
“I’m sorry about what I said the other day.” He apologizes, head hanging low. His hands sit in his lap but he can’t help but fiddle with his fingers out of nervousness. “I missed you, a lot. I know you can take care of yourself, I just get so worried sometimes. I just wish that you wouldn’t try to take everything on your own. I’m here too, you know?”
Your body relaxes, shoulders dropping as you sigh. “I’m sorry too. I shouldn’t have tried to take it all on my own.” Tighnari nods as silence fills the tent again. It almost feels awkward, the tension still present, and he’s not quite sure how to cut through it.
“I forgive you, I forgave you the first night I left.” And just like that, the tension melts away, carried away by the breeze and out of the window. His ears straighten up again and he turns his head to smile, only to see you glaring at him.
“That doesn’t mean you can get away with trying mushrooms again. I’ve told you over and over not to, and here we are again!”
VI. To love each other forever There are certain spots in Avidya Forest that you and Tighnari have discovered together. Secret entrances to hidden areas and quiet places that are devoid of wildlife and mortals. Atop one of the huts just on the outskirts of the forest, you sit with him on the moss covered roof with the sight of Sumeru City in the distance. The sun has already begun to set beyond the horizon, tendrils of light in shades of orange and gold spreading across the land as if trying to hang on before night falls over the nation.
“If I was a worm—”
“Do not start with another, ‘if I was a Sumeru wildlife creature, would you still love me?’” Tighnari glares up at you playfully. He lies down with his head in your lap, your hands running through his hair and occasionally scratching his ears. You can’t help but coo whenever you notice the way his tail seems to swish against the roof with delight.
“Okay, well, will you still love me in a hundred years?” You lean over him, cupping his face in your hands as you watch his features change. A smile takes over his lips as his eyes flicker between your eyes and your lips as you lean closer.
“I’ll love you forever, that’s a promise.”
You both finish his sentence at the same time, “And we never break our promises.”
“Thank you for loving me.” Your lips press against his, soft and gentle, reluctant to pull away. But when you do, you can’t help but stare down at Tighnari and the warmth that dances in his eyes. What isn't there to adore about him?

Hi! I have a silly request to share.
It's about Al-Haitham and reader being former academic rivals. They were always at each other's throats. No matter what snarky comment one made the other always had a quick and witty remark. Oh? One got a 95 on their test? Well, too bad! The other got a 100 and will rub it in the other's face.
Literally all of Sumeru knew of their rivalry. But you know what they say: the more you bicker, the more you love. And eventually, the two would date in secret for the next couple of years before eventually getting engaged.
Needles to say, poor Kaveh, Cyno, and Tighnari were gobsmacked to see Al-Haitham linking arms with his biggest rival since his Akademiya days and introducing her as his fiancee.
I’m doing this again bc tumblr didn’t save my earlier draft 😭🤚
✅⭐️
anyways! Expect slower updates because school has started again for me. (Excluding this and the other one I have in my inbox.)
I haven’t been touching this because I was confused on how to grasp this.
But yay story. It’s below the cut (You have amurta because it’s the biggest and my favorite.)

Rivals to Lovers
Alhaitham x Female Reader (Can be read as G/N)
You walked into class carrying what you needed for the day. Today was a test taking one. Sadly it was the first class you were in that had the test. Others came through the door you watched as each person sat down. Waiting for the bell to ring.
When it did ring everyone was inside as the teacher welcomed everyone and showed a few confusing parts with a few hints on how to deal with them. Luckily you understood everything unlike some others.
You received your test and began. Skimming through each page to find similarities in questions. Using that method to easily do majority correctly. You focused on the other questions and used the tips the teacher had given the class.
Amurta was lucky to have such a kind teacher, giving everyone study time and tips to pass any tests and gives tutoring in lunch or recess period. Everyone would pass in her class.
You went to your next class, identifying differences between certain species. Being given multiple animals with similar ones. Such as Snow,Crimson and Desert foxes.
You figured out majority of the differences and finished early. Focusing on drawing a Crystalfly and a Avidya Leopard for the remaining time. The bell rang and you walked out. Seeing Tighnari with his friends beside Alhaitham.
Your mind thought of what happened to him. Is he stuck in the library like always? You’d ask yourself as you went towards the bunch. Joining in on the conversation they were maintaining.
Until Alhaitham showed up. You looked at him and Kaveh tried to act like he wasn’t there. Failing of course. “I betted that you wouldn’t get a better score than me.”
He stated as he looked at you. “Oh yeah? I bet I did better than you. Why don’t you tell me ur score?” You stated confidently and he said he got a 95. “How much were you betting?” “Only 20 dollars(idk how much mora that would be lol) Are you scared?”
“No because I got a perfect score of 100!” You said as the others tried to not laugh. Your rivalry with eachother was interesting. Showing your paper to him across the table and sticking your tongue out. “Anyways who did you bet it to?” “Cyno.” Everyone’s head turned to him and he was confused. “What?”
“Why cyno-?” Kaveh asked to Alhaitham. “Because he wanted to.” “I uhhh…” “Cyno you shouldn’t bet.” Tighnari scolded him as he nodded. “Anyways I will do better than you in our next class!” You said as you looked to Alhaitham. “Yeah sure.” He replied as he looked away and back to his book. Handing cyno the money.
He did better the next time and repeated what you did to him beside sticking out his tongue. Another fight between you two was about to happen. Which is usually the both of you just rambling about the other and trying to be louder than the other. Which didn’t happen. Thanks to Tighnari holding you back.
Multiple years passed and graduation comes. You two of course still bickered with one another and weren’t as competitive as you used to be when you were younger.
Now with the both of you dating secretly you have to keep up the act still. You both didn’t want others to find out that secret that was kept hidden.
You sticked out your tongue playfully at him as you linked arms. He smiled at you before he made you spin and let go. You dropped your scroll as he snickered at you.
Your yelling could be heard from a bit away. Gathering a lot of people’s attention but they were used to it. Everyone knew you bickered constantly. Trying to keep up the act as you made him drop his scroll. He looked at you with slight anger and ignored you.
When the time came you yeeted your hats in happiness. A few bits of celebration everywhere. All happy they were finished learning successfully in their chosen darshan.
He brought you on dates with gifts and you did the same but he did majority of them. Always booking the times that would be the most crowded or exclusive.
Both of yours and his parents approved of it. Letting you both to get engaged after a few years of getting together. You and him arranged a meet up with the others after not seeing them for 3 years.
“Hey guys long time no see!” You said as you waved to them at the meetup spot. Alhaitham linking his arm with you. They were in shock at the two of you. “You guys are dating-?” Tighnari asked as he looked at the arms. “Yeah. We’re engaged actua-“ “WHAT?” Cyno and Kaveh exclaimed as Tighnari covered his ears.”
“Yes indeed. She is my fiancé.” “Y/N your his fiancé-??” Kaveh asking you while you nodded. “You guys always bicker I’m surprised you both managed to do this.” Cyno mentioned as you all headed to the spot.
“She and I had a Rivals to Lovers I guess?” Alhaitham stated as you nodded slightly. Talking with the others on the way. “We’re going to the cafe to have lunch together! It’s on us.” You said as Alhaitham gave a thumbs up.
Arriving at the cafe and ordering, sitting down and chatting amongst everyone while waiting for the food and drinks to arrive. Enjoying the meal as you all listened to stories of what happened to eachother in those three years.
(Had no idea how to end this but I hope you enjoy)

(Hello-! I'm kind of new to asking during events so im sorry if it was actually closed! ^^'') To the General Mahamatra, Cyno.
Hello Cyno! I had just wanted to check up on you, which is why I had brought this letter over, but something was kind of stuck in my head.
Nahida told me you liked telling jokes! So I decided to include a small gift I held onto for a few years! It's a book of jokes I've said or used with explanations. I'm not certain this message will reach you, but if it does, keep it away from the other matra lest they start running again, eheh-
I hope this letter does reach you, Cyno, have a great day or night, okay? I promise to pray for you to have a safe travel no matter what.
-🌟Moth
[There seemed to be a small journal, with a few hand written jokes inside with a tag attached to the front page. It read: "For the General Mahamatra, have fun!"]
cyno walked the desert, red eyes sweeping the sand. he wasn’t looking for anything in specific- you could hardly call this a patrol, in truth. he was simply walking, just outside of aaru village, with no real intent except for his occasional glance upwards to appreciate the meteor shower currently taking place.
the sand and the air were cool, wicking away any sweat worked up from pacing in circles for the last… how long? an hour, maybe? he wasn’t sure. all he knew was that he’d made the decision to go for a walk not long after sundown, and ever since he had been doing just that. walking.
it felt almost like he was waiting for something. every time he would think surely, now he would be able to rest, every problem he has solved and every errant thought out to rest, some new idea would spring forth of nowhere. ‘stay for a while longer,’ it said, and though he would protest every time, well…
cyno shifted his weight his heel, prepared to walk his well-worn loop. however, at the last point before his turn, something warm came up behind him.
his polearm was in his hand before he could think, instinct angling it over his other hand to block whatever blow was coming. yet, nothing came.
a strange ball was floating just past his weapon, the bright shell standing out against the desaturated desert. part of him expected it to explode, to burst into flames, to do something dangerous to prove that his instinct to stay had been right.
but it didn’t, and it was only thanks to his reflexes that he managed to catch whatever dropped from the rapidly-dissipating shell before it hit the sand.
cyno’s mind raced as he noticed one of the objects he was holding was an envelope, understanding crashing into him. he’d just raised his weapon against a messenger of his god- of course it was you, who spoke through the stars, and even unintentionally, he still…
thankfully, you don’t seem to hold it against him.
your letter is kind, and though you addressed him by title, the rest of your language is far more casual. its… comforting, almost, as if he’s received a message from an old friend.
maybe it’s poor form to think of you like this. to dare touch what should be regarded as holy scripture, to flip through the book you gave him, skimming the notes you’d made, the comments you’d left for him.
and maybe it was dangerous to be so distracted in the dessert at night, when the light of your star had almost certainly acted as a beacon for his location. but you had blessed him with safe travels, promised him a safe night, and he believed that that was true.

I’m a big simp for both Albedo and Tighnari, so I was wondering if I could request something from Windblume? Maybe Tighnari gets a little jealous that you hit it off with Albedo? Honestly I’d love it if they fought over reader or like competed for their heart, but realistically I’m not so sure they’d do that, so plain old jealousy works. Doesn’t necessarily have to be angsty but you definitely can if you’d like!
Gender neutral reader, doing this where the reader is a forest ranger and Tighnari's asked for them to accompany him. Unforunately, he doesn't make it clear that this was his way of asking you out - he hides behind the 'this will allow you to learn about x plant'. Unhappy ending if you like Tighnari more than Albedo.
--
Walking with Collei behind Tighnari and Cyno walking beside each other was rather awkward. Hearing Cyno cracking his jokes, Tighnari just not responding, and you were finding that you couldn't find a topic to talk to Collei about. It wasn't that you weren't friends with her, you got on very well with each other. The problem came when you just knew better than to start a topic, knowing Cyno would inevitably find a terrible joke in the topic.
When you arrived in Mondstadt, you felt even more out of place. Cyno wasn't close to you at all, and most of the time Cyno was the one talking with Albedo. Tighnari let him talk, making the occasional comment and Collei chiming in as well. You realised that there wasn't all that much in the way of plants, not stuff that would help your learning. Tighnari told you that he wanted you to come to Mondstadt, talking about the plants of Mondstadt and their uses.
But here you are, clearly seeing the Windblume festival happening, and everyone else in the group looked like they were here for the festival instead of what you were supposed to be there for.
"And who might you be?" Albedo asks you, everyone turning to see you awkwardly standing there.
"Oh, I'm a forest ranger from Sumeru." You explain.
"No alias?" Albedo asks.
"I'm not interesting enough to need one, I'm afraid." You smile, Tighnari opening his mouth to try and give you a fake career title.
"I'm sure that isn't true." Albedo smiles, noting down something before escorting the four of you to your rooms.
Your room was the last one, conveniently, and Albedo asks you why you're in Mondstadt right now. After you explain your reason - Tighnari telling you it would be beneficial for your career - Albedo tells you that he would be happy to show you the plants that are specific to Mondstadt. Assuming this was what Tighnari meant by you learning about the plants, you gladly agree.
Albedo, however, knew that Tighnari failed to establish he wanted you there because he knew about the festival.
--
In the time that you were in Mondstadt, you got close to Albedo. At first it was simply him explaining the various flowers and fruits in Mondstadt, their locations, optimal growth, usage. Then, he paid for your meals together. You find out more about each other, and by the end of your trip you're realising that you've grown very fond of him.
Meanwhile, Tighnari was glaring holes into Albedo. He was frustrated to see this man chatting you up, taking advantage of his poor way of asking you to accompany him on this trip. He hoped to visit your room to ask you out, only to see you holding Albedo's hand as you walked back into your room.
He tried to get to you at some points, only to see that when you were available, he had already agreed to meet up with someone else to sort out some work arrangements. By the time you were both free, it was time to walk back to Sumeru.
When you were back at Sumeru, Tighnari acted different around you. He didn't know whether to ask you if you enjoyed your time in Mondstadt, whether to ask you who Albedo was to you, whether to confess to you or to simply move on after realising his attempt backfired thanks to Albedo catching on to what he tried to do.
You also found it awkward, given how Tighnari grew so distant all of a sudden. After this didn't stop in the coming months, you decided to take a position that opened up in Mondstadt. When you handed in your letter, Tighnari didn't talk to you.
The day you were due to go, Tighnari didn't show up. Everyone else was there to wish you luck, but Tighnari didn't leave his house until you were long gone.

characters: cyno x reader, tigharni
notes: cyno is so petty in this like hello,, i hope this came out okay i enjoyed writing this. it was either tigharni or alhathaim but, i didn't feel like keeping up with writing two pessimistic characters. tighnari kinda out of place tho im on cyno’s side
IM SORRY THIS IS BAD
•┈୨♡୧┈•
with eyes trained onto you like a hawk, the general mahamatra was shooting daggars from his irises, cursing both you and tighnari. cyno was leant against a tall tree, bark poking into his back, arms crossed and biting his lip. he was hiding behind the lush greenery wanting nothing more than to leave this damn forest and just take you home; to have you all alone with you only focused on him. tighnari was hunched over on the ground, an arm loosely splayed on your back with his other holding a small roll of bandages. whilst walking with your boyfriend, you had ran into tighnari with a little bunny who was bleeding so you had offered to help. you took the bandaids from him and rolled it around the white furred creature, he cooed at the animal softly as you did so.
"who knew you were so sweet with such creatures?" tighnari spoke as he pet the bunny, trying to get it to relax. his curious gaze came to face you. you let out a small chuckle.
"oh... you know, i had a couple bunnies growing up so i guess i know some things." you looked up to him, wide eyed, "its kinda weird how often you come across injured bunnies."
"is that so? well no wonder, you’re as cute as this one here..." his hand went from the small bunny to your chin, lifting your face towards him with a whisk of his finger.
cyno could kill him with no remorse, the way tighnari was touching you so comforting should be illegal. how could he be so okay with doing such a thing in front of him?
this was supposed to be a nice walk in the forest with just you and him, he was finally mustering the courage to hold your hand and here you were cuddle and google eyed with this dope. of course cyno didn't say anything, as you were helping a poor bunny and he didn't want to seem possessive. yet when his own friend touched you so tenderly he had an urge to pull out his pole arm and smack his fox friend on the head with it.
you patched the creature up, and tighnari held him in his arms like a small baby. he heard a grunt that he had looked up over to the white hair man sulking over by a long tree. cyno's brown cheeks were a dark shade and his red eyes were staring down at the grass. his foot grazing the ground back and forth idley. the archer turned to you, watching you dust the loose grass and sand off of your knees before he spoke,
"whats wrong with him?" he asked quietly. you looked up, head waving back and forth before you landed on your boyfriend who imitated that of a child casted away in the corner. you shrugged and tapped tigharni on the shoulder, telling him you'd be back.
cyno saw your shadow approaching him from the grass, he kept his eyes down, refusing to look you in the face. his breathing became irregular and his stomach felt like it was swirling up a concoction. you stood infront of him, a mischevious smile on you face before you lent down to get in his point of view.
"cyno?" you quipped, waving your hand in his face, he snapped his head away, pointing to the other direction. oh, so he wants to catch an attitude. "fine, i'll just spend the rest of my walk with tighnari." you whirled away, not letting his petty feelings bother you, but before your fore foot could even land to the ground, the snow haired boy grabbed your wrist and pulled you to him, "no." he said softly, his ruby eyes peering softly at yours.
he held you for a while, not saying anything. slightly embarassed, you turned back around to find your friend, seeing he got the picture and had distanced himself away, playing with the bunny. cyno grabbed your chin and pulled it to him, "why do you keeping seeking him, focus on me." you laughed at him, was he getting all this worked up over tighnari, really?
"sweetie, calm down okay? it snothing like that i swear, he's your friend don't be like that. you haven't even said hi to him this whole time."
"he doesn't deserve it." he muttured as he got from the tree with you hand in his, slightly tugging it like he’s trying to get you to start walking in the other direction. you let him take you, considering your work with tighnari was done with, though you felt bad to leave him with no parting words.
cyno had taken you deep into the forest, before he stopped suddenly. he leaned into your face, eyes pondering yours. he pulled your hand to rest on his shoulder as he wrapped his hand around your waist, bringing you in by the middle of your back, kissing your plush cheeks.
“whats wrong with you?”
“..you smell like him.” he pouted, hands prancing along your jawline, as he continued to smother you with his lips
“you’re so weird.”
“im weird? i thought i was cyno.”
you bit your lips, holding back a chuckle because that joke was not funny at all. yet you fell a victim to him when his gentle eyes looked at you so lovingly. even the worst of his jokes could get you to crack this way. he softly placed his lips on yours, taking in your sweet scent. he looked into your eyes softly, his cheeks still flushed.
“...you love me?” he muttured.
“of course i do...” nuzzling into his chest, taking in his warm scent of sand, wood and musk. strong built arms carressing your lower back, pulling you into him ever so tight, like if he let you go, you’d slip away.
“good” he pecked your forehead, resting his chin upon the crown of your head. you relished in this sweet moment in his arms, knowing that all though he can be a bit rash, he only loves you so.
little did you know he was wide eye staring at tighnari from a mile way, the two of them swearing eachother out with only eyes alone. how sweet.
