Cosmic Legacy Challenge for TS3

Oh wow, its my third challenge. Anyway, I was looking for new challenges and wondered why no one has made a planet themed challenge for TS3 (there's a lot for TS4). So I decided to make one.

Cosmic Legacy Challenge is a 11 gen challenge that includes the sun, planets, the moon,and Pluto because I wanted Pluto so therefore, its spaced theme. Each generation is based off a mix of astronomy, astrology,and greek/roman mythology. Some of the goals in certain generations require your sim crying/drama and if that’s your playstyle that’s cool but heads up if it isn’t. So if you enjoy space, space themed adventures, or a bit of drama from time to time in your legacies, this might be for you.

Rules:

You don’t have to use all of the traits, just 2-3 required

You can move onto the next generation when all of the goals are met or when the next heir ages to a YA

If you don’t have a certain expansion pack that is related to a goal, skip it or do an alternative goal that fits.

Aah! A star is born! Where would we be without the center of our universe! Everything revolves around you and people are dependent on you to perform or else we would all die. 2 . ☿ Mercury:

The fastest yet tiniest, you’ve always had a front row seat to your parent’s stardom. But being in your parent’s shadow is never a fun place to be and it’s causing you to be as cold as you are hot. You tend to think rationally when making decisions and focus on communicating ideas to others so they can see the bigger picture in life. But while they’re distracted, your hand might find itself in their wallet. Ideas need funding too you know.

Traits: Kleptomaniac, Schmoozer, Natural Businessman, Genius, Perceptive

Goals:

Master the Logic and Social Networking skills

Steal 3 items a day

Work in the Journalism career

Own 3 cars that are worth over 25,000

3. ♀Venus:

With a taste of your lips, I'm on a ride You're toxic. That’s right Venus, you’re the hottest and most toxic planet of the bunch. You tend to shine the brightest as well as go a different direction than those around you. You have an idealized version of love that will come with the most expensive vacations, a big house, and someone who is going to spoil and love you with no complaints. But are you willing to go through the jumps and hurdles to find your happily ever after?

Traits: Snob, Savvy Sculptor, Hot-headed, Hopeless Romantic, Inappropriate

Goals:

Master the Sculpting skill and one musical instrument (drums, bass, guitar, violin, piano)

4. ♁Earth:

While your parents may have their head in the clouds, you don’t mind being bit a more down to Earth. You care for the environment and all living things and want to ensure that you take the actions to maintain it. You’re curious and wonder about what’s out there as you’ve always had to examine life through a lens. But it’s time to get back out there and explore the depths and wonders the world has to offer you. For you were responsible with its care, it’s time to honor that stewardship.

Traits: Loves the Outdoors, Eco-friendly, Animal Lover, Gatherer, Vegetarian.

Goals:

Master the Science and Handiness skill

Marry an alien

Create a plantsim

Live an eco-friendly lifestyle (No bathtubs, no dryers, no cars (bikes/motorcycles only), garden your food)

5. ☾Moon:

You’re someone who is always close to those you care about. Like a small beacon, you are always there to light up the night and uplift those around you. But your light comes in stages and sometimes your dark side shows up more than you want it too. But just because you can get a little emotional sometimes or plan a bank robbery every once in a while, does not mean you are unfit to take care of your family. Sometimes, being bad does pay the bills.

Goals:

Master the Cooking skill

Have 5 children

Get to the top of the Criminal career as a thief or evil leader.

6 ♂Mars:

For someone who used to be so full of life, you’re now just bitter and cold. It doesn’t stop you from being a person of action and it also doesn’t stop people from wanting to be your friend (since they won’t stop coming over to your house). While your anger can hurt those close to you, it also provides a way for you to keep your boundaries respected and your inner world at peace. So for some much needed self care, please go to the spa or eat a Snickers.

Traits:Mean-spirited, Athletic, Ambitious, Brave, Grumpy

Goals:

Master the Athletic skill

Woohoo with 10 different sims in 10 different places

Reach the top of the military or athletic career

Have a set of twins (can have more children than that)

Have more enemies than friends

Learn how to cook your favorite meal

7. ♃ Jupiter:

Dang you’re massive but that’s what makes you a great leader. Your presence is intensely large and it allows others to see your greatness as well as draw them into you. But while you are a storm to be feared, you don’t exactly have the best foundation within yourself. That’s why you have taken upon yourself to expand your inner world and focus on becoming the best version of yourself. But while you’ve always believed you are a good person, don’t forget that you are also flawed and susceptible to making mistakes just like the rest of us.

Traits: Commitment Issues, Adventurous, Lucky, Flirty, Good

Goals:

Obtain 2 degrees from university

Be best friends with your sibling(s)

Have 3 affairs when you’re married

Donate to charity once a week

Travel to all of the WA destinations and learn something new to take back home with you. (i.e - skill, song, book)

8. ♄ Saturn:

When you want something, you go get it. To you, money can solve all of your problems and those who complain, well they just don’t have enough. That’s how you got those 7 rings correct? Whether that’s biding your time to see the fruits of your labor grow into fruition or focusing on building your abundant wealth, you work hard for what you wish to earn. It’s the discipline and precision of your routine that keeps you going.

Traits: workaholic, green thumb, frugal, neurotic, disciplined

Goals:

Master gardening and advanced technology skills

Get married twice in your life

Reach the top of 3 careers in your lifetime

Have 35,000 in household funds (without cheating)

Become enemies with all your children

9. ♅ Uranus:

Baby you’re cold as ice. No seriously. You believe you can reach the heavens and the sky is merely just the stepping stool for your hopes and dreams as a writer. Trying to go the traditional route in life is not for you and you hate when others try to put you in that box. You believe in creating change for others as well as getting rid of systems that bring down your fellow sim. If you have to do some questionable things in order to achieve those goals, well the end justifies the means.

10. ♆Neptune:

Deep as the sea and with winds stronger than a hurricane,You keep yourself at a distance from others. It’s why the ocean has always called you home and it’s vastness makes you question your role in the universe. As you search for your answers, you find some in the supernatural and the expression of art. But don’t let your journeys become obsessions. You can only go so far down the rabbithole before it’s too late to pull you out.

Goals:

Master the scuba diving, fishing and painting skills

Master the alchemy and street art skill

Your Career/Reputation/Legacy Indicators according to astrology pt.2

This time I'll go over the 10th house. If you would like to see part 1 [the second house] go here:

Tutorial

~ First find the sign your 10th house is in by pulling up your birth chart

As you can see their 10th House is in Scorpio [I circled it + pointed to the line that indicates what sign it's in]. If you don't feel like pulling up your birth chart right now, you can just think of the 9th sign after your rising sign. For example, a Sagittarius rising has their 10th house in Virgo [the ninth sign after Sagittarius], while an Aries rising has their 10th house in Capricorn.

~ Next, look at the ruler of that sign. This is the ruler of your second house. I've written them down below

Aries: Mars

Taurus: Venus

Gemini: Mercury

Cancer: Moon

Leo: Sun

Virgo: Mercury

Libra: Venus

Scorpio: Mars and Pluto

Sagittarius: Jupiter

Capricorn: Saturn

Aquarius: Uranus and Saturn

Pisces: Neptune and Jupiter

Very interesting the connections that Ketu and Jupiter has with Frankenstein's monsters.

In the upcoming film "Bride" Jessie Buckley will play the Bride of Frankenstein and Christian Bale will play Frankenstein's monster.

Both are Ketuvian. She's Mula Sun, and he is Ashwini Moon. The film is made by Maggie Gyllenhaal who is a Vishakha Sun.

Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller in (National Theatre Live 2011) "Frankenstein" interchangeably play the Creature (Frankenstein's monster) and Victor Frankenstein. Benedict Cumberbatch is an Ashwini Moon and Jonny Lee Miller is a Vishakha Sun.

The play was literally directed by Ashwini Moon Danny Boyle.

In the film "Lisa Frankenstein", Magha Ascendant Cole Sprouse plays a corpse from the Victorian-era who was resurrected to life (named Creature, commonly being Frankenstein's monster), and his love interest is played by Shatabhisha Moon Kathryn Newton as Lisa Frankenstein. The film is directed by Punarvasu Moon Zelda Williams.

Cole Sprouse's character reminds me of Emily the Corpse Bride from the film "Corpse Bride", voiced by Magha Moon Helena Bonham Carter and the movie being made by Magha Sun Tim Burton.

What I found so interesting was how the internet is intuitively sensitive to Ketu energies as they have connected Laura Harrier to this character in online fan-casting. Laura Harrier is literally an Ashwini Moon.

In the film "Van Helsing" Frankenstein's monster is now played by a Jupiterian instead of a Ketuvian. Purva Bhadrapada Sun Shuler Hensley.

Purva Bhadrapada Moon Daniel Radcliffe, though he plays Igor, Frankenstein's sickly hunchback assistant, in the film "Victor Frankenstein". And in this film it is Ashwini Sun James McAvoy who played Victor Frankenstein.

And Tim Burton's "Frankenweenie" animation movie, it is Mula Moon Charlie Tahan who voices young Victor Frankenstein who resurrects his dog.

Purva Bhadrapada Moon Jacob Elordi will be playing Frankenstein in Guillermo Del Toro's retelling of the story, ultimately replacing Purva Bhadrapada Ascendant Andrew Garfield who was up for the role. AND Purva Bhadrapada Sun Oscar Isaac will be playing Victor Frankenstein.

A couple of years ago, I remember Scarlett Johansson was in talks for a "Bride of Frankenstein" movie, and this was never heard of again. I doubt the project has been finalized or proceeded, considering the fact that it's been four years now. But still noteworthy as she is Vishakha Moon so perfectly fits this post.

Vishakha Sun Emma Stone stars in the film "Poor Things", based on a book with the same name which is a clever feminist retelling of Mary Shelley's known work.

A film quite aligned with "Poor Things" is actually "Frankenhooker", being that the 'Creature' is a victimized female, starring Punarvasu Sun Patty Mullen who plays a girlfriend accidentally killed by her scientist boyfriend and is resurrected by him with the use of her head and separate body parts of deceased prostitutes.

This film was literally directed by Magha Sun and Purva Bhadrapada Moon Frank Henenlotter.

Mary Shelley, the creator of the tale of Frankenstein, was a Mula Moon and Ardra Ascendant, a gothic novelist whose work is considered one of the earliest work of science fiction 🖤

Theory and Analysis

The Legacy of the Shroud and Draconia Families: The Prodigy and the Miracle

I haven't posted anything in ages, but in the span of a day, I have caught up to everything happening in TWST. All I could say is -

Wow.

Should I miss or incorrectly put the lore, feel free to correct me.

Warning: Spoilers, long post, language, and crude humour.

Without further ado, let's get into the post. All credits belong to their owners.

The Shroud clan

The Shrouds have been in existence for a really long time. Their ancestor was "appointed a Gatekeeper back in the age of gods and goddesses." Let's assume that was thousands of years ago. Due to this task of essentially keeping the balance in TWST World, Tartarus was built, and henceforth S.T.Y.X was 'formed' about 100 years ago.

Due to their long history, the Shrouds are rich, rivaling the Al-Asims in terms of wealth. According to Vil, they are a branch of Jupiter Enterprises. An influential conglomerate that essentially built Google Chrome, or maybe Facebook, and Amazon of TWST.

The Shrouds reside on the Island of Woe. It is not on any map, therefore it is completely hidden from the public due to the fact it is literally built under the sea.

For the secret organization, Lillia said that a legend goes like this, "When a wizard forgets themselves and succumbs to their own power, punishment from the Island of Woe shall befall them."

The Shrouds are tasked with such a heavy job that about a hundred years ago, they were cursed, preventing them from escaping their duties. This curse manifested in their flaming blue hair, burning off accumulated blot. But if there's no blot to burn, the curse instead eats their magical energy. That's why the Shrouds, especially Idia having inherited the curse from his father, must now be in constant close state of OB to survive.

Idia's grandmother, Aidne/Idone Shroud, is known to have this curse. Both her and her son, Mr. Shroud are using magical devices to combat it.

The Shroud Prodigy and Tragedy

Idia is a prodigy. Born a genius in the Island of Woe. As a child his intellect far surpasses the adult researchers at S.T.Y.X. With this impressive show of his potential, his fate is sealed: Idia will become the next head of the Shroud family.

Ortho's life is a tragedy. He was born, and then he died. Then he was reborn again as a humanoid robot that Idia created while in complete isolation for 2 years. Complete with the 'real' Ortho's memories, personality, and appearance.

This is Idia's way of coping with the guilt that consumes him. Blaming himself for his only brother's death.

Why wouldn't Mama and Papa Shroud do something about this?

I like to think that they did try to console Idia. From the looks of it, they do love their children equally. But they also have to grieve too. They also suffer the same guilt Idia feels because suddenly the portal that they're supposed to monitor as the Director and Chief Engineer of S.T.Y.X breaks open, resulting in the death of their younger son. [But I think Idia's unique magic has something to do with the incident.]

It is important to note that Mama and Papa Shroud treat 'Ortho' as their real child, not a replacement of their dead son. With the events ending in Ignihyde chapter, Ortho is on his way to becoming his own person.

Combining his brother's 'death', the responsibility of running S.T.Y.X in the future, the constant state of near OB just to stay alive, and the isolation made Idia the genius, foul-mouthed, introvert prodigy dorm leader of Ignihyde.

As of Diasomnia chapter, Papa and Mama Shroud, the Director and Chief Engineer of S.T.Y.X respectively, are trying to get in touch, or are now in touch, with Queen Maleficia, Malleus' grandmother.

The Draconia family

The Draconias are nocturnal fae, tracing back their long lineage to dragons. They all possibly have horns protruding from their heads. Their lifespans can go on for centuries. A Draconia will reach adulthood at the age of 1,000 years old. That lifespan is longer than the kind of fae like Lilia.

Simplified:

If Malleus reach 1,000 years old, he'll be only known as an adult Draconia, but for Lilia, 1,000 years is his whole lifespan.

In the current events of TWST, we only know 3 Draconias so far.

Queen Maleficia, Princess Mallenoire/Malenoa, and the only known male heir, Malleus.

Not much is known about them, except the current queen (has been for a long time) is Queen Malefecia, the grandmother. She adopted Lilia and Levan, the father of Malleus and Princess Malenoa's husband. The royalty in Briary Valley is complete with senators, dukes, royal guards, and is just basically a monarchy of faes.

The Draconias, and most fae creatures, reside in Briar Valley. There are forests that are pitch black, giving an advantage to nocturnal faes, like Lilia. It is also rich in magical minerals.

In Diasomnia chapter, Malleus put up a barrier of thorns that is going around or extending throughout Sage Island, essentially marking it as his domain, and everyone in this domain will remain asleep, dreaming. It is worth noting that Malleus is said to be one of the top strongest mages, as evidenced by this:

"S.T.Y.X. together with the Magical Force, and the Briar Valley’s royal family attempted to break into Malleus Draconia’s domain, but… "

"Neither physical nor magical attacks could make a dent."

"The thorns do not discriminate between humans and fae, and anyone attempting to enter just get sucked into the field."

Because he's a fae, he gets energy from his surroundings. Therefore if Malleus' keeps extending his barrier, he will get stronger. Heed that not even Queen Maleficia can get through the barrier her grandson had created. With this scenario, it effectively puts Malleus, a little bit stronger than her.

The Draconia Miracle

I contemplated saying the Draconian Miracle but either way is fine.

If we are to consider Malleus as a miracle manifest in itself, let's first look at the way he was born.

The prelude of Malleus' birth is chaos.

During or even before he emerged from his shell, Briar Valley is going through a fae-human war. Starting when the humans started populating and abusing the place. Note that their population started with only a small sailing ship, and throughout the years they multiplied.

Princess Mallenoire/Malenoa/Mallenoa is the mother of Malleus, and she, by far is the strongest defense of the land, as said by Lillia.

But before Malleus can even crack the shell, his mother is already gone. Going by the angst route, let's assume she died protecting her egg that houses her son.

Makes you wonder how brutal the fight must be to 'kill' a mother dragon protecting her only child.

Levan/Revern, a raven fae or a dragon duke in some sources, is his father. He is a diplomat of Briar Valley, therefore his task falls into making allies, not enemies.

Yet, he did not return.

It is presumed that he died in an ambush, or possibly has a new identity. If he is alive it is cruel for him to not come back to his unhatched son. I am not saying Crowley is Malleus' father but there's a chance that Crowley is related to the Draconias, in one way or another.

Now, why is Malleus considered a miracle?

Because he was born against all odds. His birth is a highly impossible event, yet it did happen.

Due to his parents' absence, this effectively made the hatching of Malleus uncertain. Dragon eggs can hatch within 2-3 years of laying if showered with love and cared for.

[ This part is taken from the accounts of Lilia's dream in the Diasomnia chapter, where Silver is also surprised by the huge gap of the war and the dragon heir's birth.]

Malleus' birth is delayed by 200 years, because he has no one to care for him. It is truly pitiful that even before his birth, Malleus is abandoned.

Why wouldn't Queen Maleficia love her unhatched grandson? Is her love and power not enough to hatch Malleus?

I bet she did, but she also has grieve the death of her only child. On top of that, she has to be strong because she's a queen of a country. Any sign of weakness can mean the humans threatening her or even one of the faes betraying them, putting her family and the nation in danger.

The thought of the Draconia bloodline ending with her likely filled her with depression. Also, Queen Maleficia is not Malleus birth mother, only his grandmother. So that is not enough for a dragon egg to hatch, since it needed the love from his birth parents. I like to think that this part is where Lilia, as his caretaker will come in. Lilia's loyalty to Draconias extended to Malleus, softening the heart of the war-torn general, enough that he had the sympathy to adopt a human child.

It took 200 long years for Malleus to emerge from his egg shell and when he did, Briar Valley celebrated his birth. Matter of fact, his birthday is a public holiday.

Defying the odds is another powerful instance why Malleus is born to be a king faes, the valley and the abyss.

The parallels between Idia (the prodigy) and Malleus (the miracle)

Both Malleus and Idia grew up in isolation.

Literally.

[Island of Woe and Briary Valley are two places in the middle of seven-knows-what. Anyway...!]

With Malleus as the only heir, and Idia as the first born, they both have huge responsibilities on their shoulders. We're talking about responsibilities scaling nations and the safety of huge populations.

Idia's childhood is tragic with the death of his brother. But we can argue that Malleus' childhood is tragic too, with the disappearance of his parents.

Malleus grew up isolated and protected in the castle. His only confidant for decades is Lilia, his caretaker. And even then, Malleus said that Lilia is prone to going away for long periods of time.

For Idia, his only companion for the 2 years he locked himself in his room is the prototype of Ortho that he's building.

Idia represents the uncanny future, and Malleus represents the eerie past.

Think of it this way, if you put Malleus in Island of Woe where everything is about technology, I bet he will say something about the importanc of the past and teleport back to his place.

If you put Idia in Briar Valley... man's not even going to survive the night. He will lament his poor WiFi connection.

They compliment each other well: One doesn't want to be approached and the other is unapproachable.

Both Idia and Malleus are some of the loneliest students in NRC. Idia doesn't have social cues, and Malleus... doesn't have good social cues either.

They're both so awkward when interacting with others it becomes endearing.

As awkward as they are, both are arrogant too. Every time Idia regards himself as the acting leader of S.T.Y.X and Malleus as the future king, sends a thrill or.pride to whoever can hear them. [Go forth children! Be the leaders of the TWST world.]

And they will be leaders. As heavy as the mantle of Shroud and Draconia is, Idia and Malleus will have no choose but to shoulder on. That's why I think the battle between (yuu), Idia along with NRC against Malleus will be tragically beautiful.

There's a reason why all of a sudden the story of TWST started to become more serious in the Ignihyde chapter and just hit the fan in Diasomnia. Soon, were about to find out why.

Idia and Malleus are the complete opposite yet their existence compliments each other so well.

One is a keeper of the underworld, and the other the blessing of maleficence.

And then there's Yuu, trying to uncover the secrets of Twisted Wonderland.

Reyna: You'd think. But while they might look down at Jason, he has them outmatched in experience and rank, while I only have rank over them.

Percy: True. I forget sometimes you joined only a few years ago. It's like you were born here or something.

Reyna: chuckles Or something.

Octavian: It's scary how you quickly you adapt though. I remember when I showed up and Jason just went "you'll get used to it" once shit got crazy around here.

Reyna: Wait, I thought you and Jason joined together? Or at least around the same time.

Octavian: shakes his head Nope, Jason was already here when I joined Camp Jupiter.

Percy: When did you join?

Octavian: 7 years ago, so when I was 11.

Reyna:... That's pretty early, especially for a legacy. No offence.

Octavian: shrugs None taken. My parents were gonna wait till I was an adult. But my powers set in and suddenly they could only think that hey our kid can see the future he'll be a brilliant asset to the Leigion.

Reyna: I... am paying them a visit the next time we're in the mortal world.

Percy: Same, fucking hell.

Octavian: snorts Thanks...but yeah Jason was already here.

Jason: Jason was already where? Sorry I heard my name.

Reyna: Hey, we were just wondering when you joined Camp Jupiter.

Jason: 2.

Percy: 2...years ago? But that doesn't make sense.

Jason: No, 2 years old... Why are you all looking at me like that?

Reyna:... What the fuck?! What... The fuck?!

Octavian:... I didn't think... You weren't that much younger than me so I didn't think...

Jason: Guys it's okay.

Percy: Nothing about this is okay! You were a baby, Jason...Thalia would've still be around how did...

Jason: Ah... That. Well, Juno started harassing my mum with monsters. Told her they'd go if she left me, but she was gonna come back she promised... And than she didn't. Lupa got me, went to the Wolf House, survived and I've been here ever since.

Reyna: To reiterate my previous point, what the fuck!

Jason: Guys, it wasn't that bad.

Percy: I almost died in the Wolf House now... You went through that at 2.

Octavian: No wonder you were so feral.... Wait... Horrified Realisation You have tattoos for every year you've been here, right?

Jason: Yup, 13 lines for 13 years.

Reyna:...So not only did some idiot decide to train a baby with a sword... They tattooed you too?!

Jason: It wasn't that bad. I mean they did have to hold me down, because I was crying and trying to bite them but yeah... Why are you all looking at me like that?

As Voyager 1's mission draws to a close, one planetary scientist reflects on its legacy

For nearly 50 years, NASA's Voyager 1 mission has competed for the title of deep space's little engine that could. Launched in 1977 along with its twin, Voyager 2, the spacecraft is now soaring more than 15 billion miles from Earth.

On their journeys through the solar system, the Voyager spacecraft beamed startling images back to Earth—of Jupiter and Saturn, then Uranus and Neptune and their moons. Voyager 1's most famous shot may be what famed astronomer Carl Sagan called the "pale blue dot," a lonely image of Earth taken from 6 billion miles away in 1990.

But Voyager 1's trek could now be drawing to a close. Since December, the spacecraft--which weighs less than most cars--has been sending nonsensical messages back to Earth, and engineers are struggling to fix the problem. Voyager 2 remains operational.

Fran Bagenal is a planetary scientist at the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP) at CU Boulder. She started working on the Voyager mission during a summer student job in the late 1970s and has followed the two spacecraft closely since.

To celebrate Voyager 1, Bagenal reflects on the mission's legacy—and which planet she wants to visit again.

Many are impressed that the spacecraft has kept going for this long. Do you agree?

Voyager 1's computer was put together in the 1970s, and there are very few people around who still use those computing languages. The communication rate is 40 bits per second. Not megabits. Not kilobits. Forty bits per second. Moreover, the round-trip communication time is 45 hours. It's amazing that they're still communicating with it at all.

What was it like working on Voyager during the mission's early days?

At the very beginning, we used computer punch cards. The data was on magnetic tapes, and we would print out line-plots on reels of paper. It was very primitive.

But planet by planet, with each flyby, the technology got a lot more sophisticated. By the time we got to Neptune in 1989, we were doing our science on much more efficient computers, and NASA presented its results live across the globe over an early version of the internet.

Think about it—going from punch cards to the internet in 12 years.

How did the Voyager spacecraft shape our understanding of the solar system?

First of all, the pictures were jaw-dropping. They were the first high-quality, close-up pictures of the four gas giant planets and their moons. The Voyagers really revolutionized our thinking by going from one planet to the other and comparing them.

Jupiter and Saturn's ammonia white and orange clouds, for example, were violently swept around by strong winds, while Uranus and Neptune's milder weather systems were hidden and colored blue by atmospheric methane. But the most dramatic discoveries were the multiple distinct worlds of the different moons, from Jupiter's cratered Callisto and volcanic Io to Saturn's cloudy Titan to plumes erupting on Triton, a moon of Neptune.

The Jupiter and Saturn systems have since been explored in greater detail by orbiting missions—Galileo and Juno at Jupiter, Cassini at Saturn.

Voyager 2 is the only spacecraft that has visited Uranus and Neptune. Do we need to return?

My vote is to return to Uranus—the only planet in our solar system that's tipped on its side.

We didn't know before Voyager whether Uranus had a magnetic field. When we arrived, we found that Uranus has a magnetic field that's severely tilted with respect to the planet's rotation. That's a weird magnetic field.

Jupiter, Saturn and Neptune all emit a lot of heat from the inside. They glow in the infrared, emitting two and a half times more energy than they receive from the sun. These things are hot.

Uranus isn't the same. It doesn't have this internal heat source. So maybe, just maybe, at the end of the formation of the solar system billions of years ago, some big object hit Uranus, tipped it on its side, stirred it up and dissipated the heat. Perhaps, this led to an irregular magnetic field.

These are the sorts of questions that were raised by Voyager 30 years ago. Now we need to go back.

Culturally, Voyager 1's most lasting impact may be the 'pale blue dot.' Why?

I have huge respect for Carl Sagan. I met him when I was 16, a high school student in England, and I shook his hand.

He pointed to the Voyager image and said, "Here we are. We're leaving the solar system. We're looking back, and there's this pale blue dot. That's us. It's all our friends. It's all our relatives. It's where we live and die."

This was the time we were just beginning to say, "Wait a minute. What are we doing to our planet Earth?" He was awakening or reinforcing this need to think about what humans are doing to Earth. It also evoked why we need to go exploring space: to think about where we are and how we fit into the solar system.

How are you feeling now that Voyager 1's mission may be coming to an end?

It's amazing. No one thought they would go this far. But with just a few instruments working, how much longer can we keep going? I think it will soon be time to say, "Right, jolly good. Extraordinary job. Well done."

I have come to the point in any challenge where I am tempted to quit. Parent is finished with their goals (and in this case has an aspiration I have no interest in completing when it hasn't happened naturally so far and nothing else I really want to do with her) but the oldest potential heir isn't quite old enough to start on his. (And six kids in two different saves isn't helping...)

So I'm doing what I always say you should do when the rules are ruining the game, ignoring them. Jupiter Garner's aging up to YA and moving out.

He's already doing better than his mother was when she struck out on her own though. He has walls and a roof, a bed, a fridge, and a toilet. Preactically luxurious. (But nothing like what he's used to.)

Jason was just 2 when he was adopted by Lupa's pack. He probably could identify words and make sense of what was being spoken but could not speak, knew a few words but could not speak. When he reached camp Jupiter all he could do to communicate was snarl,growl and maybe a few easy words like 'hello', 'jason', 'mommy', 'tha-lia'. The boy so young, so abandoned, someone who cannot speak reaching the camp only to be bound by the strict roman legacy which tells you to be selfless, it all makes me so sooo sad I can't even T.T
