Black Fire
Quick drabble because I was thinking about the importance of love to dragons in twst but also in Barbie's version of the Swan Lake, where Odette is weakened because her lover professed his love to someone else. So, I decided to combine the two :) Pairing: Malleyuu/Malleus x Reader Setting: Ambiguous. Non-canon Warnings: Hurt no comfort. Not proofread.

Tumblr media
Dragons are known as possibly the most powerful beings in Twisted Wonderland. They are possessive, selfish, with an even more fearsome temper to boot.
So who could've guessed that a dragon's biggest strength and weakness is love?
Not anyone and especially not you. You hadn't even known Tsunotarou was a dragon until almost a year after a meeting him, until after almost three months of having been planted the seeds of affection for him within you.
You should've been able to guess. After all, love and companionship are important things to him, more important than even his beloved gargoyles. It's obvious in the way he keeps his family close; how he recalls memories of Silver's youth fondly, is endeared by Sebek's overzealousness, and hangs onto Lilia's every word. It's obvious in how he wraps himself around you, leaning his chest against your back and looping his arms around your torso and purrs in delight at your acceptance of his affection. Obvious in how he gifts you little trinkets from his expansive collection of memorabilia, how he had put effort into appeasing your friends with gifts that suited their interests when he had unintentionally upset them. He is possessive and selfish just like the stories say, but despite being these things, he still allows your friends to steal your time, has even begun to grow closer to them himself too.
You should've been able to guess just how precious love was to him. How dearly he holds it in his heart. How dearly he holds you in his heart. How, even though he sneaks glances at you and brushes your hand fleetingly in ways that he does with no one else and boldly visits you uninvited, you should not have dismissed his behavior as mere eagerness.
It shouldn't have taken you this long to realise Malleus's feelings. Shouldn't have taken him inviting you into a room overlooking his lush rose garden to realise that your blossoming feelings are reciprocated.
When Malleus confesses to you, looks into your eyes and captivates you with the glow of his green irises, you finally put the pieces together and see it, the intensity of his feelings for you that have itself taken form a gorgeous bloom that rivals the roses of his cherished garden.
You're so amazed, enchanted by him like you always are, that you barely notice the cacophony of squeaking bats outside the window.
You're watching Malleus closely, taking in every inch of his flawless features. His eyes are hesitant, his head tilted slightly away from you and a handkerchief held over his glossy lips in an almost shy manner that makes your heart flutter with endearment.
"Do you accept my feelings?" he murmurs.
Your chest feels so pleasantly warm that it almost feels as if you might be melting from the inside-out. You reach out your hand and the commotion outside is like white noise to you as Malleus accepts your hand and your fingers entertwine. They fit perfectly against each other, and nothing has ever felt more right.
You take a soft, shuddering breath, hold it within you like something holy, and use it to utter the precious words:
"I do. I love you too. I always have."
Malleus smiles, so big and wide, and the delicate breath instead escapes in a startled gasp at the way his bright eyes darken into a deep emerald.
"I had hoped you'd say that."
Your head snaps toward the windows, finally hearing the bats screech in alarm. Your eyes are drawn down to the garden, where the roses wilt and die right as the magic within them drains before your very eyes.
You tug your hand out of his and stumble back in horror. The expression he's making is so wrong on Malleus's face, his lips pulling back to bare his teeth in a triumphant grin, his eyes wide and cruel.
"Who are you?!" you scream at the impostor. "Where's Malleus?!"
"That doesn't matter now!" the man laughs wickedly. Orange fire engulfs his body, the heat making you wince, and a white-haired man, wide-eyed and manic, looks back at you with a mocking smile. "You already confessed your love to me. Thanks to you, darling, that evil master of the abyss can now be vanquished!"
The windows burst open and the bats swarm in, squealing in anguish. Rollo Flamm merely laughs as he's engulfed in flame once again and disappears before they reach him. You're left standing stunned and horrified, listening to the fading sound of his laughter, before the bats begin to claw at you to grab your attention.
You don't question the bats as they lead you. You follow them, so frantic that you trip over yourself, and nearly fall to your knees when you leave into an empty hallway and see Malleus sprawled on the floor, unmoving, his robes scattered around him like spilled ink.
"No!" the agonized scream comes out of you unbidden, and you do fall to your knees once you've reached Malleus's side. You cradle his face in shaking hands, and your heart twists at how cold his skin feels. His eyes are closed and he's breathing but it's slow, as well as his pulse, as if he's merely in a deep sleep. You know he isn't, because the familiar energy of his magic electrifying the air isn't present. Instead, you can feel it draining with each passing second.
A dragon's biggest strength is love, but it is also his weakness.
You should've been able to guess—You should've noticed. It shouldn't have taken you holding Malleus's weakening body in your arms to realise that—
Malleus Draconia is in love with you, but because of that love, when you had professed your love to another, you had also thrown away all his magic just as you had thrown away his heart.

𝗴𝗹𝗼𝘄𝘆 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘀
eddie's upset that you're upset about not seeing a certain constellation. he tries to make you happier.
pairing; eddie munson x fem!reader
warnings; swearing, fluff, eddie is so bf it's crazy
wc; 0.9k
"dude, i swear. if it's something that you do yourself, she'll like it so much more." dustin says, rolling his eyes.
"okay, so you suddenly turn into a love doctor, henderson?"
he rolls his eyes again, something he found himself doing a lot when eddie asked him for girl advice. "i have a girlfriend, dumbass. i know these things. i'm smart."
eddie attempted a noogie, which was narrowly avoided. "maybe you should use that smartness for our next campaign yeah?"
"fuck off, you want my advice or not?"
"alright, cool it. yes, dustin henderson, give me girl advice."
"start from the very beginning. i need to know everything."
eddie rubs his hands over his face. "she's upset that she hasn't been seeing the exact stars and constellations she wants to see. we've been laying on the roof for a couple days and she can't find a bird. or maybe it was a swan."
"cygnus." dustin says, nodding.
"cy-what?"
"it's the swan. it's cool."
eddie closes his eyes and shakes his head. "okay whatever, that doesn't matter. how can i cheer her up?"
"i don't know." his face is painted with a blank expression.
"you're actually fuckin-"
dustin raises his hands up in defense. "i'm joking, god! you should've seen your face." eddie glares at him. "if she likes stars and she's upset that you can't see them, make them for her."
"what like, fucking throw a lasso around 'em? it's a wonderful life style?"
"bradley's has these glow-in-the-dark stars that you can stick on the ceiling."
eddie seems to get it. "right, so i buy those and make the constellations?"
"there ya go. that's all i've got, i'm sure you can figure out the rest. gotta go." and dustin is running off. he disappears quickly, it's strange how fast he can do that.
"eds?" you call into the seemingly empty trailer. eddie's been letting you stay the night more often. he loves it, he loves being with you, and you love it because there's less light pollution. also because you love eddie.
"in here!" he answers. his voice is so loud within his room.
quickly, you toe off your shoes and make your way to him. "whatcha doing?"
he's trying to hide little pieces of paper. he gives up and sits on them. "nothing. what's up with you?" he smiles innocently. it's stupid, you love it.
"you're being weird."
"i'm always weird."
you laugh. "you are. but i'm just tired."
"we're going somewhere, so you can't be too tired."
you sigh dramatically, throwing yourself onto his bed. "we gotta stargaze tonight."
"we've been coming up dry, babe. let's do something else tonight. let's go to lover's lake." eddie chose lover's lake because it was quiet and peaceful. you loved the peace and quiet.
"i'm not getting down at lover's lake."
"woah! i... i wasn't thinking of that. i wasn't." his face turns a wild shade of pink, making you burst out into laughter.
"i know, eds. let's go to lover's lake."
eddie almost pulls you off of the bed and drags you outside. he's excited, almost too excited.
he always drives carefully whenever you're in the van. he's scared of losing you. he'd never tell you that.
"are you cold?" he asks as you roll up the window. eddie drove with the windows down on a regular basis.
"no, bugs."
"bugs," he repeats.
as you got to lover's lake, eddie climbed out quickly and opened your door, bending down and saying in a posh accent, "milady."
"awful."
"you love it." you do.
eddie doesn't walk to the lake. instead, he leads you to the back of his van. "what're you doing?"
"stuff." he has a little trouble opening the doors. finally, he gets them open.
inside, he's got the whole setup. there are blankets and pillows lining the inside, dustin would flip his shit. he'd tease eddie for being a romantic, but then want to do the same for suzie. young love.
"what're we gonna look at, eds? the roof?"
to your surprise, he nods. "yes actually, we're gonna look at the roof."
he climbs in and opens his arms. "c'mon. lay with me."
you oblige, falling into his arms. he smells like eddie. it's comforting.
he's looking at the roof the van. your eyes follow.
it's littered with little stars, messily put into constellation formations. your eyes lock onto one in the middle, a cross. it's the swan, the one you had been looking forward to seeing.
"oh my god."
"i don't really see the appeal with that one, i don't see the swan."
you point up and draw it into the air. "it's like, the skeleton kind of. the wings would be here and here."
he gasps as he sees it. it's sweet.
after a few seconds, eddie looks at you. his eyes sparkling. it's probably just the reflection of the stars, but you like to believe it's just his eyes. "i do okay?"
"shut the fuck up." you laugh, but it's quiet and breathy, barely a laugh. you were almost in tears. "why'd you do this?"
"i don't like seeing you upset."
you decide you hate him because you could never top that. but you love him too much to really hate him.
"i think i love you." it comes out like a confession, but it wasn't the first time you said it.
"that's crazy, i think i love you too." he kisses your nose, making you scrunch it up. he loves that.
"yes, you did okay, eddie. thank you." you're almost crying again.
"wouldn't it be funny if we got out and you finally see what you're looking for?"
you smile. "i wouldn't care, i've got you and your glowy stars."

pbelase talk more abt mlp the idea of actually delving into stuff like what u posted is so interesting to me. sits with my chin in my hands and kicking my feet like we're at a sleepover. if u ever wanna infodump I'm Here
giggling twirling my hair and then taking out a massive binder of thoughts i've had since 2012
idk if you mean my thoughts on magic as a whole or on starlight but ur getting BOTH. big warning, i'm going to take this neon cartoon very seriously.
magic in g4 is wildly overpowered and there's this huge underlying inequality between the pegasi and earth ponies compared to the unicorns - which is reinforced in how the show portrays class, wealth, and nobility. The upperclass Canterlot consists mostly of unicorns, and nobility that hasn't earned their status and instead inherited it (Duke Blueblood). honestly, you could make the case that the unicorn's old role of raising the sun and moon (and therefor the crops) allowed them to maintain control over the earth ponies. In the few earth ponies we do see in Canterlot, they're mainly put in typically lower class associated physical intensive labor work. Notably, we see a group of earth ponies striking in one episode, implying that unions exist in order to prevent exploitation of these groups (notably, fancy pants speaks negatively about them because they're delaying a swan thing, a superfluous ceremony that is purely for fun and not at all necessary).
But back to magic! magic TRUMPS the other ponies' abilities. we see it can turn back time, control weather, give ponies super speed and strength, help them FLY?? anything a pegasi or earth can do, a unicorn with enough magic and training could arguably come in and do (perhaps even better than them!). When i used the example of the bakery in canterlot, i was drawing from the show. there's a scene where Starlight is able to ice a cake in seconds and Mrs. Cake asks if she's trying to put her out of business to which...yeah! could an earth pony be able to match that level of output in a unicorn dominated city? sure, someone brought up the idea of artisanal goods, but could that really compete with fast well crafted baked goods that take a fraction of the time an earth pony product would take? the answer is no. the artisanal goods would be the exception, not the norm.
Unicorns in general have a huge advantage in coordination, we see that they dominate the arts scene. They're capable of doing precise stitching for clothing, something that a pegasus or an earth pony would need to do by mouth and wouldn't be able to match the fine motor skills that magic can do. An earth pony can only sew by mouth, a unicorn without any magical training can sew multiple at once. They're at a huge disadvantage comparatively!
That leads us to Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns, just unicorns. Earth ponies and pegasi are completely blocked out from attending a prestige academy headed by the queen of Equestria herself on the basis that they can't do magic. We know that Celestia uses the school to scope out proteges...but that means only unicorns are considered.
now this is where Starlight comes in and look. listen. i love a good hypocritical villain but if you want to claim that she has a point in the show, ur wrong. Cutie marks don't automatically make you good at something, they don't disqualify you from other talents, and they definitely aren't limited to talents (some are personality traits!). Most importantly, they're what makes you feel fulfilled and happy. Starlight's ideology is flawed and in the show, this is how it's portrayed, and that's good.
But gotdamn. her backstory suuuuuucckkss. you can't write your friend a letter? can't be a penpal? come on starlight try a little harder. I mean they hardly stay unequal, writer's pet- i mean starlight can little outpower an alicorn princess.
so like. if you want her to have a point, she should've been an earth pony against magic. Starburst goes to an academy she's barred from tending, letters that she has to write are cumbersome and difficult because she has to do it by mouth, a lot of her labor options are limited by her capabilities - i mean come on! listen to me people, the enemy isn't cutie marks, the enemy of g4 inequality is magic.

Total Drama Island Review, “Not So Happy Campers- Part 2”
Last time, on Total Drama Island! The campers arrived, set their bags down, and were instantly told to take a swan dive off a massive cliff. This is where things get juicy.
Unlike last time, where the review was bare bones, this parter will also include various character mistakes- evidence, shall we say- and a chance to vote off who you feel should've been the one to go! I'm thinking of making this a weekly thing- just like the episode airings!
SYNOPSIS
Tumblr media
(Gwen) "I did NOT sign up for this."
After the opening credits, Chris explains the challenges for today: jumping off a 1,000-foot high cliff, grabbing supplies from the beach, and building a working hot tub.
The lake itself has been stocked with man-eating sharks, a trope that's haunted the shark community since Jaws. To survive unscathed they must land in this tiny little circle in the center, as shown below:
Tumblr media
Winners get a hot tub party. Losers send someone home. Owen suggests that the stunt is mostly for show thanks to TV criteria, but we see a flashback that proves that A.) Chris is a terrible boss and B.) 'survivable' is a massive stretch.
Killer Bass are up first. Bridgette lands perfectly in the center, cementing a strong lead- something arguably lost when Tyler lands directly on a buoy. But he gets into the safe zone, so we'll take it. Goeff, Eva, and Duncan all land off-screen, but it's implied they make it to the safe zone.
DJ, scared of heights, refuses to jump. Chris says that's fine and gifts him a chicken hat to wear for the rest of the day.
Tumblr media
"Scared of heights?" "Yeah, ever since I was a kid." "That's okay, big guy. Unfortunately, that also makes you a chicken."
Stakes proven, the next contestants yeet themselves without a fuss. Ezekial and Harold (who does a bit of an owie on his balls with a shit landing) make it safely. Courtney, strong in common sense, also refuses to jump, making two chickens for the Bass.
Tumblr media
Katie and Sadie, desperate to twinsie their potential smut film, beg Chris to be put on the same team. Izzy agrees to swap with them, making the girls both Killer Bass and Izzy a member of the Gophers. I'll have an updated team listing at the bottom.
They make it, and it's the Gophers' turn. Chris offers the Gophers a pull cart for their load if they can beat the jumper-chicken ratio the Bass set.
Tumblr media
Heather refuses to jump. Lindsay refuses to jump if Heather won't, offering Heather a strong asset early on.
Leshawna, not giving a single fuck, demands Heather jump. They get into a discourse that's probably pretty scalding if you're a teenager, also it maaaaaay borderline on slightly racist at times. Leshawna decides to yeet Heather off a cliff and into the safe zone with pure badassery.
Heather, Leshawna, Lindsay, Gwen, Cody, Trent, and Izzy all land safely. Justin is almost eaten by sharks but woos them instead. Beth decides she's unable to jump, leaving only Owen at the top.
Tumblr media
"I'm going to die now. I'm going to tot-ally die now."
Owen, a self-proclaimed bad-swimmer, delivers what is quite possibly his obituary before leaping. He makes it with a belly flop!
Tumblr media
The next part of the challenge proves to be a simple task for the Gophers, but the Bass quickly run into their own troubles.
Tyler wanders off to pee, followed by Katie and Sadie. Katie and Sadie use poison ivy as a toilet seat. Chris finds this absolutely hilarious.
Tumblr media
After opening the boxes with their teeth (Chris' idea), Heather comes over to apologize to Leshawna. She admits to Lindsay later that it's entirely bullshit, and she's just hoping to keep Leshawna close for safety purposes. Lindsay asks if they're friends and Heather agrees, "for now".
The Killer Bass FINALLY arrive with their crates, having ditched Katie and Sadie to let them work through the poison ivy alone. Courtney rallies the team to no avail, and the Gophers quickly win.
Tumblr media
(Katie) "So... what do we do now?"
Things get tense at the Bass table during dinner. Consensus is that either Courtney or DJ should be the first to go, as they both refused to jump. Odds are looking more in DJ's favor, however, as his muscle could be really useful in later challenges.
Squabbling ensues. Courtney tries to pin blame on Tyler, but is quickly rebuffed. Then Ezekial opens his mouth.
Tumblr media
"Well, I just don't see how we lost, ey? They're the ones that got six girls."
Turns out homeschooling has left a bit of a bad impression in Ezekial's head. Namely that he truly believes women are weaker than men. There's plenty of semantics that can be argued here about his shitty dad for telling his all this junk, but they're sixteen and no one's gonna do that kind of introspection on reality TV.
But, hey! Useful target to keep the chicken-hats on the team.
Tumblr media
"Killer Bass. At camp, marshmallows represent a tasty treat that you enjoy roasting by the fire. At this camp, marshmallows represent life."
The passing of marshmallows goes quickly, leaving Courtney and Ezekial as the final two. Courtney, for refusing to jump and not having proper building technique. Ezekial, for being a sexist.
Courtney lives to see the next round. Ezekial gives no farewells as he leaves the island.
Courtney swears vengeance on the Gophers and the episode ends.
FINAL REVIEW
Lads, lasses, and those of the beyond, it's time to see- did this episode win a marshmallow? Or did it walk the dock of shame, board the boat of losers, and go home?
Overall, I think this two-parter is decent. It's a great way to show us the camp, the characters, and the kinds of challenges they'll be facing. But it lacks a lot of the bite of later episodes. Certain characters just don't fit into their later characterizations at all- Heather would never apologize even as a falsehood, Harold didn't do any fancy ninja moves on the jump, and Chris seems to be almost medicated in his calmness. The challenges are disproportionate as well- a great jump followed by... building? I think a more Total Drama-esque one would've started with the building of the hot tub, then be followed by a leap from the cliff into said hot tub.
Verdict: Five out of ten marshmallows. Could be better, but it's a pilot, so it's gonna be a bit rough.
Character Mistakes:
DJ refuses to jump
Courtney refuses to jump
Tyler ducks off to take a whizz mid-challenge
Katie and Sadie also duck off to take a whizz, but are then handicapped by poison ivy
Duncan refuses to share important tools during building
Ezekial was sexist
Character Remaining:
Screaming Gophers: Gwen, Trent, Heather, Cody, Lindsay, Beth, Izzy, Owen, Leshawna, Justin, and Noah
Killer Bass: Goeff, Bridgette, DJ, Tyler, Sadie, Katie, Courtney, Duncan, Eva, and Harold.

Kicho's Main Story Chapter 12 Romantic
These translations are not intended as a replacement for the game. Please support Cybird by buying their stories. Spoilers under the cut. Expect grammatical errors.
Tumblr media
Mai: "The wind feels nice today."
Kicho: "You're right. The sky is clear too."
I replied to Mai's words as I rowed the small boat.
After meeting again in Azuchi, we went to the lake to avoid being seen.
Mai: "I never thought a boat rental service was available in this era."
Mai: "Did you know? There are boats shaped like swans you can row with your feet back in the future."
Kicho: "I've never been on one, but I've seen it. I think they are called swan boats."
Kicho: "Putting a large bird afloat on a lake is a playful idea."
Mai: "True."
As we chatted about different stuff, she turned her eyes to the beautiful scenery, and I couldn't help but admire the way the water reflected in her eyes.
Tumblr media
(If only I could keep the scene I see in my eyes right now.)
(Come to think of it, there was something called a camera in the future. I should've brought it here.)
As I mulled over the things I couldn't do anything about, she suddenly turned her gaze back to me, and we stared at each other for a while, neither of us saying anything.
Mai: "..........."
Kicho: ".........."
(I guess she has a lot of questions for me.)
(But that can wait.)
Kicho: "Let's go over there."
Mai: "Okay, I'll row this time."
Kicho: "No, it's fine. Let's talk more about the future instead."
Mai: "The future?"
Kicho: "Even if we knew the same world, we've seen and felt different things."
Kicho: "The stores you liked, the songs you liked… anything."
(I don't care what it is.)
(I want to know as much about you as possible.)
Tumblr media
(Even if there's no way I can keep this moment as it is, I'd at least like to keep it engraved in my heart.)
Mai: "I understand. I have lots to tell you then."
I continued to row the boat quietly, listening to her idle chatter.
Mai: "I had an experience like that, and after that, I got hooked."
Kicho: "I see. Liking more stuff is a good thing."
After getting off the small boat, we continued to walk side by side along the edge of the lake.
(I never get tired of hearing her say these things one after another.)
(I guess there are many things she cherishes even in the future.)
I smiled and felt a sense of relief when I saw her talking earnestly.
Mai: "Oh..."
Suddenly, Mai stopped and looked behind me.
Mai: "Look over there."
Kicho: "Hmm? Yeah, it's beautiful."
The setting sun was casting a dazzling light, turning everything gold.
As we stared at it together, she blurted out a few words.
Mai: “Time flies so fast.”
Mai: “It’s natural to have fun times, but I think it’s the same when you’re in pain.”
Mai: “It may seem like the moment felt long, but when you look back on it, it all flew by so fast.”
Kicho: “You’re right. You find yourself in the present, only to find that this present has turned into the past.”
Mai: “That’s why I want to stay close to the people I love.”
Kicho: “Mai…”
Tumblr media
(Please...)
Mai: "Kicho, I..."
(Please don't say it.)
Mai: "I don't want us to be apart."
Mai: "I want to talk about these things tomorrow and the day after."
Kicho: "..........."
Mai: "I want to be by your side like it's natural.”
Tumblr media
(I'm at my limit.)
Kicho: "Mai."
I desperately called her name, trying not to let her say the rest of her words.
However, I couldn't resist the urge and found myself hugging her.
Mai: "Don't you feel the same way?"
(I feel the same way. How could I not?)
(But...)
Kicho: "I can't tell you. Anything I say will just hurt you."
(I made that choice.)
Tumblr media
(A choice that wouldn't have allowed me to hold her like this anymore.)
I pulled away from her, swallowing down my regretful feelings, and gently took her hand in mine.
Kicho: “Sorry.”
Mai: “Why are you apologizing?”
Kicho: “Because I’ve come to a point of no return.”
I squinted my eyes calmly, trying to remove some of the uneasiness creeping into my face as I blocked out the setting sun and cast shadows on her face.
Kicho: “I’m glad to hear your stories. I know there’s still a place for you outside of this place.”
Kicho: “Be sure to return to your original time, Mai.”
Mai: “You know that a wormhole is going to appear?”
Kicho: “Yeah. I was able to observe it a while ago.”
Kicho: “I checked on you today, and you don’t seem to have those symptoms, either.”
Mai: “Yes.”
Mai: “Does this mean the future is coming back?”
Tumblr media
Kicho: “That’s right.”
Mai: “Kicho, what on earth did you do?”
Mai: “I heard at the castle that you and Motonari attacked the trading post and took it back.”
Mai: “You’re putting yourself in danger by doing that.”
Kicho: “Does that mean the Oda forces are going to invade Sakai?”
Mai: “...........”
Mai suddenly covered her mouth as she realized her slip-up.
(Her reaction confirms it.)
(Everything is going according to plan.)
Mai: “If that were the case, what would you do?”
Mai: “I know you’re not my enemy, and you’re not a liar. But I don’t know what you’re doing and your purpose.”
Kicho: “There are things you don’t need to know.”
Mai: “I already know. I know you’re going to start a war, even though we’re supposed to have the same goal.”
Mai: “If you do that, more lives will be lost again.”
Kicho: “...........”
Tumblr media
(I know, but...)
Kicho: “It’s a necessary sacrifice.”
Mai: “Kicho...”
I slowly let go of her hand and whistled, calling for the horse waiting nearby.
Mai: “W-Wait! Let’s talk more properly.”
Kicho: “Neither I nor you have the time.”
I mounted my white horse and took hold of the reins.
Kicho: “Thank you for keeping the past me alive until this day.”
Tumblr media
Kicho: “Please be yourself, even in the future.”
Mai: “Kicho!”
Turning my back to Mai as she tried to call me, I kicked the horse in the belly, and with a neigh, its hooves kicked up the ground and moved forward through the wind.
(If I'm allowed to take her away, I would have.)
(That's why I shouldn't look back. It's for the best.)
I told myself mentally and clucked my tongue at the ironically beautiful sunset.
Even though this was the last time, the dazzling gold color also dyed Mai's hair and eyes.

True Enough
Joe discovers that his love just might be true enough to save her naive soul.
(I don't own anything, everything belongs to Disney, coverart not mine, etc. Found art on Pinterest. If the original artist is found I will credit them here)
Tumblr media
(I don't own anything. There's a reference to Steven universe and The Swan Princess in here.)
He was there when it happened.
In the cave. In the darkened waters as they brought her into the witch's home. Oh he knew her plan. He made no objections to her plan nor did he physically do anything to stop it. So why did it feel so surreal and shocking to see her swim into this miserable place. This is what she wanted all along. Isn't it what he wanted all along as well as her assistant? What they both wanted? He was the girl's friend to relay information and to help in everything that lead up to this moment! But..her shocked face seeing him there...
It hit him harder than it should've.
However she wasn't there to see him. She was there for HER. The sea witch. He was there when she asked to be turned human. And all for what? To pursue a Prince that she only met once?! He knew she a bit naive but not to these levels! But he should be happy that it made her fall into the witch's hands..Right? Then why did it make his chest tighten up so? It was so easy for her to be tricked.
"The only way to get what you want is to become a human yourself."
"Can you do that?"
He saw the EXACT moments of (excuse the pun) hook, line, and sinker. And his stomach sure sunk when seeing the witch's face.
"My dear, sweet child. It's what I do."
Despicable. Absolutely despicable.
"Now here's the deal. I'll make you a potion that'll turn you into a human for three days." She looked at him. Not at the witch. A look of concern that made him twist inside. But the witch made sure to pull her attention back to her. After all Ariel should pay attention. Ursula was always VERY specific with the effects of her spells and the rules she laid down. "Got that? Three. Days. Now listen. This is very important. Before the sun sets on the third day, you've got to get dear old princey to fall in love with you."
Three days? That's not enough time to properly fall in love. He should know. Ariel was dead set to fail. The sea witch definitely planned this thoroughly.
"That is he's got to kiss you. Not just any kiss. The kiss of true love."
And there it is. The loophole. He was always able to spot them in her deals.
"If he does kiss you before the sun sets on the third day you'll remain human forever. But if not you'll turn back into a mermaid and you'll belong...to me."
He hoped if she had any smarts left she'd use them now.
"Have we got a deal?"
"If I turn human.. I'll never see my father or sisters again." She looked at him again with that pleading look of desperation like she was asking him for his input. For help.
He hoped to send back a mental message. Yes! Please!Think of your family instead of the prince you just met one night!!
"That's right. But you'll have your man. Life is full of tough choices isn't it? Oh! That reminds me. We haven't discussed the process of payment. You can't get something for nothing you know." What? What price? He wasn't told about this! "I'm not asking much. It's just a token. A trifle really. You'll never even miss it. What I want from you is...Your. Voice."
What?! What was she thinking? It would put her at an awful disadvantage more than what she already was at this point!! But...she agreed. Of course she did. And then this entire mess started. He could've done something but..Well at least he had the comfort of knowing that there was no way the prince would succeed. And he'd be lying if he said he was pleased with their intervention of that kiss. He took whatever time the witch wasn't looking to read EXACTLY what was written on that contract.
'I hereby grant unto Ursula the Witch of the Sea one voice in exchange for humanity. If true love's kiss is not met in three days time by sundown I forfeit to her my servitude for all eternity. Signed-'
And then her name was written there. Ah. Oh yes. He believed he knew exactly what was to be done about this. He just wondered what exactly would happen afterwards.
"You kissed me."
"So I did didn't I?"
The water was warm today. Very nice as they sat on the rocks. Of course..she didn't have any legs this time around again and had her voice back obviously or she wouldn't be able to talk to him. The rocks surface was smooth obviously smoothed out by the sea water waves rolling over them for so long. It made for a perfect spot for him to just lay there and stare at the blue sky. Well that was before a pouting face leaned over him to stare down at him.
"You know what I mean."
"So I do. ..Nice day isn't it?"
"Joe, don't change the subject. Why?"
"Because it was one way to ensure you'd have more chance of success. " His eyes looked to hers. "The written contract stated that in order for you to not become in her endless servitude you needed a kiss of true love didn't you? The written contract never said that it had to be from the prince specifically."
The salty fresh air smelt nice and it made her hair wave just right as her brows furrowed. He had the idea she looked quite nice with her hair flowing like that.
"But my voice..My legs." Her eyes glanced down to the shimmering emerald tail. "You didn't change anything."
"On the contrary. You got the voice back yourself all on your own." A hand reached up to flick her nose. She did look so adorable when her delicate hand grabbed at it in a pout. "The written agreement stated that a kiss of true love would keep you out of her servitude, and it had. However your verbal agreement made it so it had to be the prince to remain human. I wasn't the prince...So as a result of not keeping up the second bargain, you resumed your natural form." His form sat up shrugging his shoulders. "As for your voice...that was something you did on your own. Saving the prince and defeating Ursula was also your doing. Not mine."
"That wasn't funny." Her face remained scrunched in a pout as she rubbed at her nose making him huff a chuckle. "And even if what you say is true, nothing happened. I'm not human..Not.. anymore." Her beautiful blue eyes turned back out to the water. Still confused on such an idea.
Such a thing was always a fun little expression for him to see on her.
"Silly girl. You don't have to be human to have the concept of humanity within you." The little head turned to him blinking. "That was why you saved him in the first place wasn't it? Because you had more humanity in you than anyone I've ever met. Including myself. Besides...Even if you had kissed Prince Eric, I doubt that it would've been enough."
"Why wouldn't it have been?!" He rose a brow at her sudden defense and frown. "Love is a strong concept that can break even the harshest evils."
"You really are a silly girl aren't you?" She was taken aback as she fully sat up, and suddenly finding the calmness of the waves hitting the edge of the rocks at his feet very interesting. "...Love at first sight doesn't exist. Love takes time and love takes work. At the very least you have to know the other person." An eye glanced her direction briefly. "And you literally know nothing about him."
Blue eyes widened at him. "But...I do know him."
He chuckled. "Yes. But how much? You know he's a prince. His name is Eric." A head tilted to distant land. A beautiful scenery of green and pearly white castle. "And he lives in a castle by the sea with a kingdom he rules over kindly. Oh yes. He is a very nice prince isn't he? But what else is there?" His head turn around to meet the wife eyed silly girl sitting beside him. "Being a kind and caring person is a very good thing, but what ELSE?"
"I-...what else?"
He slowly nodded. "Yes. What else? What else do you know about him? What else is there to him?" His hand was quick to tap her nose before she even noticed. "Does he make you laugh in joy? Is the way he carries himself something you like? What if you hate the way he does something? What if you two have too many different views on things? What if you find no attraction at all? It takes more than three days to get to know a real person."
Blue eyes went cross to look at the nose before back to him. "He saved my life-"
"And you saved his." A hand pointed at her. "And your father saved yours. ... Allow me to give you a truth. You need more than three days to love someone. Love at first sight does NOT exist. You can certainly have attraction at first sight, but love is like a flower. Anyone can be attracted to it's petals but it's not beautiful instantly. It takes time to be planted. It needs time to be nurtured and grown into a strong stem before anything beautiful can blossom from it. Attraction is only a factor. Not a whole."
The waves were his solace away from the staring of eyes as he turned towards the water's. So comforting with it's gentle feel and waved lulling you asleep like a lullaby.
"Then..You mean you-?"
"Would I have helped you the way I did if I didn't?"
There was a bit more of that calm silence.
"..How long have you- ..I mean when did you start-" She trailed off unsure of how to say it before gesturing to herself. "For me?"
...He shrugged. "I'm unsure of the exact amount of time, but I would say a few years. Certainly longer than three days." Eyes curiously side glanced at her. "... You're not with HIM right now. Curious. Isn't that what You've wanted from the start?"
"I-.." Blue eyes looked away. "I'm...not sure anymore." His head turned further to her. "Maybe I will but now.. Maybe I won't after all. I need more time to think about everything. And you."
"What about Eric?"
"If he loves me then he'll understand. ..If he loves me. I'm sure he at least cares."
He nodded. "He is a kind prince. I won't speak ill about someone when there's nothing to speak ill about. And...your family?" Her father?
She smiled brightly at him. "He's much better. I think he finally understands me now. They're glad to have me again."
He hoped that would last a long time too.
"Hm. And...Me?"
Her face went thoughtful for a moment humming before the same smile greeted him. "I believe if you love me, then you'll understand what entails too."
A blink of his eyes. And a turn of his reddened face greeted her giggles.
"Silly girl. You'll never change."
And deep down he hoped she never truly did.

Breath of Life * Garrett/OC (part 2)
Summary: Emily Swan only came back to Forks to help her sister. She didn't want to get caught up in any drama, and she certainly didn't want to encounter one Edward Cullen during her stay. When Bella decides to go to Italy to save him, though, Emily can hardly let her go alone. And that one decision will only serve to lead her to the moment that will change her life forever.
Warnings: first person narrator, original character, angst, vampire/human relationship, some language

"How's she holding up?"
"About like you would expect," I sigh, slumping down in the empty seat across from my father at the kitchen table, the now-empty bowl of puppy chow for the moment resting forgotten beside the sink. Despite my best efforts, Bella hadn't been up for much of an actual conversation about what happened with the Cullens, and so we had settled for more superficial topics, instead. School. Our shared memories with Mom. Maybe even a few from summers spent in Forks when we were younger.
It hadn't taken long before I became the person carrying the conversation almost in its entirety, and not long after, Bella made her excuses about needing to get a head-start on some homework. And that left me with no other choice but to return downstairs to find our father, while worry threatens to gnaw a hole inside of my chest.
"She didn't want to talk about it. About him. It's like—it's almost like she can't."
"She can't," My father repeats, his tone carrying a certain skepticism that he cannot entirely keep hidden, "What the hell's that supposed to mean?"
"It's too painful. Whatever he—whatever Edward did, it's like she can't talk about it at all without—"
"Without getting herself into a world of pain."
"That's the general idea, yeah."
"She tell you anything about the nightmares?"
"Nightmares?" I repeat, the shock that makes its way into my expression clearly indicating that, whatever my sister and I may have discussed, this particular topic did not factor into it at all, "What nightmares?"
The sigh my father gives in response to the question is hardly reassuring, but I do what I can to avoid allowing any of that to show in my own expression, my attention instead fixing on waiting for him to explain further. I can tell that he wants to, one hand running over his face, before he regards me for a moment in silence. It takes far more resolve than I feel I am truly ready for, but I allow that silence, waiting for my father to choose to elaborate on his own.
I know far more than most that if I push him before he is ready—before he has found the proper words—I will only end up with half of the information I truly need…
And that is a reality I simply cannot afford.
"She's been waking up, screaming every night. Won't tell me what she's dreaming about, but—"
"You think it's Edward?"
"What else would it be?" My father demands, frustration apparent in the way the words seem to shake, as though he is holding onto the very last vestiges of self control, "I never should've let him talk to her again after they broke up the first time."
"It's not your fault, Dad—"
"Yeah? Tell that to my conscience."
Frowning as soon as the guilt in my father's features becomes abundantly clear, I flounder for a moment, trying to think of something—anything, really—that I could say to take it all away. I know, from what little he'd already told me over the phone, that he'd never really gotten back to trusting Edward after the so-called baseball game, gone awry. That Bella nearly leaving him again had taken more from him than he would ever want to admit.
The idea that my father actually blames himself for what Bella is going through, now, as though she wouldn't have persisted in seeing Edward anyway, no matter what he had to say, is honestly ludicrous, but then, so is the idea that I could actually talk him out of his guilt after the fact. And that leaves me with nothing to do but reach across the table between us for his hand to deliver what I hope will be a reassuring squeeze.
"We're gonna get her through this."
"Yeah. Yeah, I know, Ems."
"Well you could try to sound a bit more convincing, then. For my sake?" I tease, forcing a smile, or at least what I hope will seem like one onto my face as best I can, and finding that the gesture becomes just a smidge easier when he favors me with a faint grin of his own.
"I'll try my best, kiddo."
I am more relieved than I probably should be upon hearing the words, given that I cannot entirely shake the idea that I should be doing more, somehow, to help him through this. To help my sister through this. I cannot help but wish I could've come home sooner, but there is clearly very little I can do to change that particular reality, now.
All I can do is the best I can while being here, now. And that is what prompts me to opt for a slight shift in conversational topic, my gaze drifting back to the abandoned bowl for the puppy chow for a moment before I break the silence between my father and I once more.
"Want anything particular for dinner?"
"Your sister usually takes care of the cooking."
"I think I can give her a break for one night," I insist, pushing myself up from my seat at the kitchen table, and heading over to the refrigerator, my hand on the door before I turn back to look my father in the eye, "So. Choices?"
"I think there might be some chicken left over in the freezer."
"Perfect. I'll pair them with the potatoes I saw in the pantry."
It is a relief to throw myself, head-first, into the process of preparing dinner. Far more of a relief than I am truly prepared to admit, because the idea of having something constructive to do is something I honestly cannot resist. If I can't help my father, or Bella in any sort of tangible, emotional way, then the very least I can do is see to it that they have something suitable to eat.
Anything else will simply have to be taken care of after the fact.
After dinner is finished, and the dishes are all safely stowed away, Bella retreats back to her bedroom for more homework, and our father, somehow, finds himself called into the precinct, leaving me effectively on my own for the evening as a whole. Hardly a desirable outcome, all things considered, since the few meager belongings I brought along with me to Forks are hardly worth the time it takes to arrange them in my old room. In fact, I finish with the task in just over an hour, the music I'd selected for use on what is honestly one of my favorite possessions—an old fashioned record player—hardly doing a thing to dull the tumultuous nature of my thoughts.
I can't seem to stop circling back to Bella. To how distant she is, where before, it had been near to impossible to get her to stop talking whenever I was around. For all of her talk about preferring to be reserved, staying silent and observing when around those she does not know, our own relationship has always been much different.
And saying anything other than that this recent change to our dynamic disturbs me would be a lie.
Of course, I can understand the reasons why she is so reticent, given my own experience with breakups, and relationships gone south. More often than not, it seems to be easier to avoid talking about such things at all. But Bella and I always had a deal, of sorts, between us. If one of us asked questions, the other would, in fact, provide answers, no matter how reluctantly. There were no secrets between us, as a rule.
Now, however, I can tell quite clearly that there is something holding Bella back. Something she is keeping from me, though for what reason I honestly do not know. Given her intentions surrounding secrecy, I can already say that I dread exactly what it may be that truly went down between her, and Edward Cullen.
Whatever it is, though, I am already beginning to suspect it is more than a simple decision to go their own separate ways…
In fact, I am already starting to believe that the true reasons behind their separation can hardly be anything good.
Exhaling in exasperation at the prospect, I slump down to perch on the edge of my bed, my fingers automatically straying to fiddle with a loose thread in the faded quilt I've kept with me ever since my mother gave it to me on my sixteenth birthday. It's a nervous sort of habit of mine, even in spite of her best efforts to keep me from doing so, particularly since she is always the one prevailed upon to fix it when the squares inevitably begin to come apart.
For a moment, I catch myself getting lost in the melancholy of the similarity this one faded blanket possesses when compared to my life, at least insofar as it pertains to my ability to be of any use to Bella at all. But just as quickly as the thought comes to mind, I am doing what I can to push it aside.
I refuse to allow myself to think like that. I can't think like that.
I will be absolutely no use to my sister at all if I allow myself to become lost in self-doubt and obsessions over the prospect of even the hint of failure. So really, the fact of the matter is that I have no choice but to continue forging ahead. To continue trying anything and everything I can to help.
Even if I am attempting to do so with only half of the information I need.
Trying to cling to that fact, if nothing else, is far more difficult than I might have initially thought, but the sound of the house phone ringing downstairs in the kitchen effectively pulls me back to the present in next to no time at all. And, half in an effort to keep moving forward, I hurry to head back down the stairs to grab it, knowing that Bella will not be very likely to budge from her room at all.
"Swan residence—"
"Emmy?"
"—Cass?"
"Oh my God, it is you!" The caller exclaims, the volume of the words prompting me to pull the phone back from my ear just a bit, while a startled smile pulls at both corners of my mouth, "Mom and Dad said you were back, but I didn't believe it!"
"And I'm guessing my dad told them?"
"That's small town gossip for ya, baby."
"Baby?" I repeat, unable to fully resist the laugh that bubbles up in response to the term of endearment coming from who is probably one of my oldest friends. I honestly should have known she would find out I was back in Forks sooner, rather than later, given her mother's almost supernatural ability to know the ins and outs of every single one of the lives of our small city's inhabitants. But regardless of whether I missed the obvious or not, I would be a fool to pretend hearing Cassandra Newton's voice on the other end of the line is not a far greater relief than I probably deserve.
"Would you prefer another nickname, instead?"
"I think that would depend on the nickname—"
"Sexy Mama? Hot Stuff?"
"Okay, that's enough of that."
"Speak for yourself," Cass laughs, the sound a welcome one even in spite of the roll of the eyes I give as a direct result of her antics, "I'm just getting started."
"Why am I not surprised?"
"Maybe because you just know me too well."
"That's definitely it," I agree, turning to lean against the nearby door frame, and twirling a part of the phone cord around my finger not long after, "I'm glad we finally came to a conclusion we can both get behind."
"Oh shut up."
"You love me and you know it."
"Do I, though?"
"You damn well should!" Cass enthuses, the words a little muffled, given the sudden influx of thuds and a muted oath as well, "Ow, damn—"
"What exactly are you doing right now, Cass?" I inquire, some small part of me hoping to use the distraction presented by the thuds on the other end of the line as a means of avoiding the eventual questions my friend may have as to the reason for my return home, "Because it kinda sounds like you're bringing your apartment down around your ears right now."
"I may or may not be attempting to reorganize the kitchen cupboards."
"Sounds like it's going well."
"It would be going a lot better if I had my best friend over here to help me."
"Is that a hint?"
"What do you think?"
The predictable nature of the response has me grinning again, even if I know that I have absolutely zero intention of leaving home—of leaving my sister on her own, right now, regardless of how Cassie may beg for me to come join her. And even if I do realize declining the implied offer of an invitation to her place will only provoke her concern, I still force myself to opt for an at least partially honest reply.
"I think we need to set up something, soon."
"Not today?"
"You can't have possibly missed me that much—"
"What's really going on over there, Ems?" Cassie presses, all traces of humor and teasing now absent from her tone as she allows concern to take over, instead, "Listen, I was talking to Mike, and he said that Bella—"
"Bella's fine," I cut in, hoping that the assertion is at least somewhat convincing, even with the small flare of distaste that bubbles up at the thought of my sister's supposed friend clearly having no qualms about discussing her status at will, "Listen, Cass, I'll call you with a date to hang soon, but I've gotta go."
"As long as you really do call. I'm not above staking out your house, and pouncing the minute you step out of the front door."
"I'll call."
Cass seems to take my words at face value, and the line disconnects not long after, the reprieve that I am still not honestly certain I want allowing me to exhale in a rush as I replace the phone in its cradle, and allow my head to drop back to rest against the wall behind me. I would be lying if I were to pretend that a part of me did not wish I could be more open with Cass. That her own interactions with Bella over the years, and countless summers spent roaming the city, or lazing on the beach could be pooled together with my own to help her.
Knowing my sister as I do, though, I am well-aware of how reluctant she is to share her innermost thoughts and feelings with just anyone. I know she will not want her sorrow over Edward Cullen broadcast for the whole world.
Whether I want to be or not, I am well and truly alone in this, at least for the time-being…
A reality that has me praying fervently that my own attempts at pulling Bella out of her funk will be enough.

Aiden v Thomas thingy (Rainbow Factory AU)
Song- Stayed Gone from Hazbin Hotel
(This is a parody in a way)
Aiden-That fucker is back! Ben (on speech device)-Yeah, I thought he was gone for good too. A-It's been years! B-You still pissed he almost beat you that time? A-Uh, fuck you!? B-Just saying. A-Things have changed a lot since he went back to the main company.. B-That's for sure. A-I gotta send a message of who's really in charge of things now… {Aiden} Welcome home I'm gonna make you wish that you'd stayed gone Say hello to a new status quo Everyone knows that there's a brand new dawn Turn the TV on! {Rainbow Swans Logo broadcast} Camera speeds Rolling in three, two (Welcome to the show) A-Top of the hour, and we're discussing a certain has-been Who has been spotted cavorting around town (Welcome to the show) After a long-year absence! Did anybody miss him? (Welcome to the show) Did anybody notice? More on tonight's program So, the Smiling Crane is back in town, Why is he hanging around? What does that mean for your family? Well handily, I've got good news! He's a loser, a fossil! And I don't mean to sound hostile, {but the Crane is a coward!} You can take that as gospel. Pulling my viewers? Impossible!! I'm visual, he's barely audible! Stop giving him the time of day, don't listen to a word he'd say :) I hope he had a nice vacay, {but he should've stayed away}
A-While he hid in radio, we've pivoted to video (Thomas walking in the Company official broadcast rooms) Now his medium is getting bloody rare! Rainbow Origami's been better since he split :) Where's he been? Who gives a shit?! :D {Thomas} Salutations! Good to be back on the air Yes, I know it's been a while Since someone with style treated Georgia to a broadcast Georgians, rejoice! A-What a dated voice! T-Every day, he's got a new format! A-You're looking at the future, he's the shit that comes before that! T-Is Aiden as strong as he purports? Or is it based on his support? He'd be powerless without the other Clarks A-Oh, please! T-And here's the sugar on the cream His dad asked me to join his team! A- H-hold on! T-I said no, and now the child's pissy That's the tea! A-You old-timey prick, I'll show you suf-ffering T-Uh oh, the golden child is buffering! A-I'll destroy you, yo-ou lit-tle— {Thomas} I'm afraid you've lost your signal Let's begin I'm gonna make you wish that I'd stayed gone, tune on in When I'm done, your status quo will know its race is run Oh, this will be fun {Aiden} Fuck!
-------
Daniel asked Thomas if he wanted to join the Rainbow Swans sub-organization for a deal, but Thomas declined, rather working at the main company. Daniel himself didn't care, understanding Thomas, but Aiden was pissy about it.
"Oh, why didn't he join my family's sub-group?? Does he think he's too good for us??? Well, I'll show him >:("
And so Thomas had a grudge against a child for like 5-7 years (he sees it as a silly thing, Aiden sees it as serious competition).
Imagine Aiden's horror (comedically) when he found out where Thomas was working at for the company.

hi yes i just wanted to say it's a joy to see another Ruewen stan (Grady and Edaline are my favorite characters and I a have to scroll for an eternity to find the slightest content on them their story is so devastating I LOVE IT.)
my dude, the ruewens are such complex and interesting characters. of course i stan them. and you're right, it's sad to see that people skip out on how fascinating they are. [warning: i rambled a l o t about them so i put my screaming under the cut.]
on a surface level, grady's the overprotective dad, but once you dive deeper, you see a lot more. you see that he used to be a signature problem child. you see that his ability messed him up in the head for a while. you see that it still haunts him today, even though it's been centuries since bronte pulled him off the wrong path - take the facility fight in nightfall, for example. when he tells sophie never again after she enhances him. you can see that while he has a reputation of being a father figure that's scary towards anyone that poses a threat to his kid(s), he's scared of himself, too. possibly more so than everyone else. you can see that instead of running away from himself, he stands his ground. he stays where he's needed. he's stubborn sometimes, like with how it took a while for sophie to convince him the black swan wasn't as bad as he thought, but he's open to change when he sees good reason. if he needs to change something about himself in order to be a better person towards the people he loves, he'll do it. he's also one of the only adults in this series that sees the kids as kids first, not soldiers. and so he's one of the only adults that'll throw himself in the front lines and shove the kids back, because they're kids and he's not and he can do it. he can do anything for them, because he's a dad and that's what good dads do.
edaline's a lot more complex than people realize at first glance, too. at first, we just think of her as the sweet mom. but she's a lot more than that. she's a sister. she's a sister to an ambitious froster that decided i don't care what the rules say, i'll love whoever i want. i think a lot of people forget that edaline watched pretty much all of kesline's early relationship in real time. she heard all the whispers and rumors. she saw all the turned backs and glares. and it seems safe to say that she held her sister's hand when kesler wasn't there to, right? and while it's clear that juline's definitely a lot more bold about how she expresses her emotions sometimes - take that time she bitch slapped forkle for not bringing dex back in book 1 (AS SHE SHOULD'VE), for example. we've never seen edaline go that far, but let's be real, she totally could. she's a talented conjurer whose limits seem to be pretty extensive - with sophie's enhancing, she was able to conjure away falling boulders before they hit the ground in book 5. while she was running. also, she's better than grady at wrangling literal dinosaurs. she may be soft-spoken and appear fragile from how grief over jolie wrecked her so thoroughly for almost twenty years, but she's strong. she's strong physically and mentally, on top of giving excellent hugs and being a good mom to anyone who needs it.
now, speaking of jolie - jolie is extremely underrated. i have to give shannon credit for fleshing out a character that died pre-canon well enough that it makes some of us readers, who don't even know her as well as the author because she gets very little page time, go insane over jolie's story nonetheless. jolie ruewen's reputation now is one of a tragedy; even her name means beautiful ruin, as was succinctly discussed here. but there was more to her story than its ending. she loved parties and dresses and cosmetics. she was scared of shadows, at least when she was little. vertina was her best friend, her ultimate confidant. she was a huge gremlin fan - which, of course, is where we start to get into the sadder parts of her story. she met brant when they were kids because they wanted the same gremlin, and they ended up being best friends. who shared custody of the gremlin, if i recall correctly. they were best friends who fell in love somewhere along the way. they loved each other enough that they were willing to push through the stigmas and rumors over them being a bad match, just for each other. they loved each other enough that they were willing to maintain a strong long distance relationship while jolie was in the elite levels. and they almost made it. they were going to get married - we see evidence of it in edaline's office (The Room Where Stuff Goes to Die, if that rings a bell), with all the butterfly themed wedding decorations. but then, of course, rebellion involvements between the two of them respectively mixed disastrously. jolie tried being a double agent between the black swan and the neverseen, and when she saw that the neverseen were destroying the person she'd fallen in love with, her efforts of pulling him out of the wreckage were rewarded by him burning her alive. killing her before she got the ending she deserved.
and all of the ideas i crammed into those three ridiculously long paragraphs aren't exhaustive of who they were as people. they only talk about the canon bits of them we see; they don't even include how they affect each other. how edaline still remembers all of jolie's favorite desserts, because she's a mother and mothers don't forget. how part of why grady is so protective of sophie, his second daughter, his second chance, is because he can't lose her like he lost jolie. how jolie had grady's hair and edaline's eyes. how they waited almost twenty years to turn jolie's room into something new, because it hurt too much to change anything about it back then. and then, of course, there's how sophie fits into it all - how she felt like she could never measure up to jolie for so long, how it seems like vertina will never care about her the way she cared about jolie (not that it seems like either of them mind that); how jolie cared about project moonlark even if she never met sophie, how sophie spent months trying to bring justice to a girl she never met, to a girl that all she really knew about was that she was loved and deserved better.
canon tells us a lot about the ruewens, but the ruewens are so fascinating that it doesn't feel like enough. which is where fanon should come in, but alas, it seems like us avid ruewen stans are few and far enough in between that we're gonna have to make the content we want ourselves.
tl; dr: i, too, am a ruewen stan lmao

True Enough
Joe discovers that his love just might be true enough to save her naive soul.
(I don't own anything, everything belongs to Disney, etc.)

~ Update ~ Swan to Phoenix
Tumblr media
It seems I've reached my crescendo, this is my limit. It's aggravating to know such. Seems I'm always chasing to go beyond three months of consistency in anything and I always fail short. I loathe that I can't keep this fire burning. I've lost my strength and there's a meteor coming and crashing down that I can't push back my motivation has slunk my arms and my eyes are too weary to focus from being plummeted to the gravity of a loss.
...Although. With this challenge in the short conception, I have things to bring with me in serenade rest. It's given me much clarity and wisdom. I've become a bit, stronger. Despite being a failure upon this event. I am proud of what I was able to accomplish and share. But even training the body and working out consistently there is rest periods required for the growth to occur. The mind is no difference another muscle that needs care. One bad day was all it took and a month ahead and advanced, everything was gone. But regardless without all that, I'm unfinished. And I will not settle, for incomplete. I challenged myself to a year and I will produce that very notion. 2 Months 5 Days is where I leave off. If I don't make the exact reflected day, I'll still find a way to go until I've done screen-sets and such worthy of 12 Months on the dot. I'll dangle the greatest carrot and starve myself of all writing, until I overcome this Swan Challenge. Falling is necessary, knowing my limits and barriers are the majority of a battle that's how you break through the glass, and I broke through ceilings in a short distance. I come from nothing and I've been left with it many times over and over. In that void that would drive many insane, I've found only that anything that enters is paradise, is light.
I will get better and I'll do what's left no matter how long it takes, or what duration.
I've found myself and I will never let loose this feeling again. It's something indescribable, a sensation you have to feel to understand it and once you felt the breathe of it, you'd be aware of your lungs. Every thrum of your heartbeat from whisper to singing.
<I can't be beat is what it says.> -- And I affirmatively agree. From every single walk, I've done in my lifetime, every single memory, It's all pointed and made up a star-sign built of a champion. Creating is what I was made to do. Long ago I came from a place in my upbringing where creativity was a challenge and a toxicity game between the friends I knew, there was a clan built on the backbone of digging our fingers into mud, sticks, and dirt all seeming just filth and useless, we forced the mundane things to be repurposed and we built forts, and creations and worlds, universes, all such with limited items in our grasps. Eventually we built a name to it or the eldest one did and called it The Creation Kings. But when you become good something there is dangers that lurk in that terrible sea. Eventually ego, will spawn a beast. Where we could've built up and made ourselves into the clouds, instead; drama and ego fell to the one who created this place that should've been a Sanctuary. He destroyed it all in his fits of rage and envy as his creations were getting less praise then his peer and fellow men. A tyrant through and through. The worst pity I ever felt was once having that very Mad King as an idol, someone to look up too... I never saw myself until they helped me hone that I could do this. I left it all behind and deserted myself from ever being associated and I lost pride of what I used to do, this Swan Challenge made me readdress this. There was brilliance I held that I wish could take my steps back and go down that old road again, but it can't be replicated. That first experience and tour is always uniquely felt, one of a kind and sublime. Now though, I return to that old broken crown, and I will go back to that peninsula that a buried castle once knew before it was destroyed and dismantled by the bearer of the selfish throne. I will shatter the remnants of that throne and break it into pieces and when it's splintered, I will share every piece of gravel it once was, with every denizen who creatively represents the same symbol, and is just as passionate, I will make this place not made for kings, but a whole civilization and thrived kingdom made for the clouds that I saw, it could lift up into.
When these ashes are over and collected into a pile, and my fire returns like a phoenix, I will restart anew all over again and I'll burn even hotter ablaze, with my intense passion and drive. This isn't a love that can ever get extinguished. It will transcend beyond all things. Even dead or a spirit, my tombstone will be written in my engraved lettering. I am a creation to make creations.

Okay, Rebuild of Evangelion 3.0 + 1.0, Thrice Upon a Time! The final Rebuild film, the definitive grand finale of one of the most popular, influential, controversial, and utterly batshit anime series there is. The Eva swan song of Hideki Anno himself, who was both made and broken by this franchise several times over! It is finally done. We got our closure.
So what did I think?
...
I kinda loved it.
Yup, it's good! Kind of great in some ways. Perfect? Hell no. Problems? Things that bugged me? Things I would have done differently? Most certainly yes.
But that's kind of the authentic Evangelion experience, isn't it? A messy story with a troubled production that is equal engaging, inspired, flawed, brilliant, horrifying, heartbreaking, problematic, thought-provoking, exhilarating, and just about every other adjective you can think of, good or bad. It will draw you in. It will break you. And it will ultimately end on a bizarre note that leaves you unsatisfied in a manner that you just can't get out of your head.
But before all that, let's start off with me gushing. Mari in Paris slaying rogue Evas with the Effiel-freaking tower? Bad. Ass. I know Anno's built up this reputation for offering something unapologetically cool only to yank it away, but let's face it: the man does love his robots, and he does deliver when he feels like it.
And after that, we get what is probably my favorite extended sequence in any incarnation of Evangelion, ever. And that's the whole part taking place at the survivors' village.
I. Fucking. LOVED that whole bit. Following Rei Q as she slowly became part of that community, how they welcomed her and helped her learn how to be a person, to form connections and make decisions for herself. Her childlike curiosity and joy in learning how to do simple tasks was soul food that hit like only the best comfort sequence of a hurt/comfort story could. And seeing grown-up versions of Kensuke, Touji, and Hikari, now with jobs and families and all that? Yes, please.
Granted, there were parts that...weren't so heartwarming. I'm used to seeing Shinji going into comatose states, especially after Kaworu's inevitable death, but the bit where Asuka force-feeds him was...really uncomfortable! Kensuke. Dude. I know you mean well, but maybe sticking those two in the same house when he's in that state wasn't the brightest idea.
Still, I should have learned. Every time Rei starts to reach out and connect with others, she dies, and this was no different. Yeah, that hurt. I should have seen it coming. I've seen it play out before, should've anticipated it happening here. Damn.
And...fuck. Seeing all those decapitated Rei heads made me hate Gendo even more than I already did. Good job getting the crowd to cheer for the good guys, I suppose.
Though, hey. Does the big decapitated Rei head and those other flashbacks mean that End of Evangelion did actually happen more or less, just without Shinji's involvement? Did almost everyone get turned into tang, Asuka eaten by the mass-produced Evas, and then washed up on the shore to fortunately not get strangled?
Okay, skipping ahead to the finale. It was big, it was tense, it had me going, "C'mon! I just lost Rei! Don't take Asuka away too!" But she went down. Again. Yeah, that's when I made my always watching the red and blue girls die post.
I admit, I got really tense when the crew held Shinji and Misato and gunpoint. Not that I expected them to shoot Shinji, but I was worried that something might kill them. Like, we've only known them for a little bit, but I do like them, and c'mon, nobody wants to see Touji's little sister die. Fortunately that doesn't happen, but it did have me concerned.
Though Gendo's brain blow? Yeesh.
Finally, we get Shinji vs. Gendo! You know, there are two ways they could have played this. First, give us what we've been wanting for years with an actual robot fight, or they could instead go with the more Evangelion route with something more cerebral.
Fortunately, they are smart and gave us both. The robot fight was cool (erm, mostly, but I'll get to that later), but the real meat is when they stop fighting and start talking, giving us that long overdue heart-to-heart we've been waiting more than two decades for.
I'll admit, I hate Gendo. Not in that he's a bad character, but he is so thoroughly infuriating that I just wanted to see him lose. But when we finally let him explain himself and got to see what he was like growing up, I'll admit, I did start to feel for him. Like him, I also have trouble making connections and shun the company of other people. I could empathize. I mean, not in the part about falling in love, but the rest of it? I got it.
And yeah, when he finally admitted that he was wrong and hugged Shinji, that got to me a little. Like, the man is still a monster, but given this show's history, that moment meant a lot. Granted, it wasn't a redemption, as he had done way too much to really be redeemed. But it was a reformation of sorts. Personally, I don't think he deserved to be reunited with Yui, but I'll let that bit go.
Rei! Yeah, I was glad to see Rei Prime. Long hair looks good on her! Damn, was she just chilling with Yui all those years?
After that is just so much emotional catharsis. We get to say goodbye to all these characters, say goodbye to Evangelion in general (seriously, that scene with all of the liberated souls really hit me), and Shinji finally gets the happy ending he always wanted. He resets the world for good, erasing both Angels and Evas, letting everyone get a chance at life. We glimpse Asuka, Kaworu, and Rei alive and well in the train station, with a now grown-up Shinji and Mari playfully flirting, as happy as can be. It's done. They won. We won. We can finally say goodbye.
Okay, criticism time!
Firstly, let's briefly touch base with stuff I've brought up about the last few movies. First, even with the advancements in technology since the first movie, the CG was all over the place. Sometimes it looked fine, other times it was like a PS1 cutscene. The ice breaking was particularly bad, as was all those mannequin Rei's. The Shinji vs. Gendo fight was well-directed, but man, the animation quality just did not measure up, especially when it would cut to the traditionally animated characters. The freaky Rei face could go either way, since it was meant to be disturbing, but even still.
The soundtrack issue wasn't as bad as before, and most of the time it did work quite well, but it could still get distracting at times.
And finally, okay, let's talk about this one last time. Firstly, it does seem I got Anno mixed up a little with Miyazaki when it comes to not liking Otaku and their boob fascination. Anno's issue was how abusive people were to him for the original finale of Evangelion and for finding Rei cute rather than creepy (that last one was kind of his fault, though), and the guy is perfectly okay with boobs. Okay, fair enough. But did'ja have to have so many creepshots? Nudity itself is fine, as it showed how detached both Rei and Asuka were from humanity, but some of those camera angles, man. Like, dude.
Well, whatever. It's a problem with all anime. Moving on.
Okay, let's talk about Mari!
Now, I got introduced to her mainly through fanfics and doujins, and she's pretty much accepted as part of the gang now, so I had a pretty good grasp on her personality at least. And let's face it: it's cool to finally have someone with no baggage who just thinks that piloting an Eva is awesome!
Still, I was surprised by how little of her there was. Like, I expected her to be a bigger deal. I get that they didn't want to get complaints of her being the Poochie by overshadowing the classic characters, but if she was Shinji's endgame (which, I'll admit, is still probably the best option for him, or at least the one with the least amount of baggage), then couldn't they have interacted more before then? Like, built up an actual relationship? She had more romantic tension with Asuka, to be frank. And if you hadn't looked her up and learned of her backstory like I did, you would've been confused as fuck when she popped up in Gendo's flashback or what the hell was going on during her talk with Fuyutsuki.
I'm not saying she should just push Asuka off to the side or anything. Just...give us enough to justify her being there, that's all.
As for Asuka...eh, her new backstory doesn't really work for me. Like, we already have a clone with a cloning complex. Having another doesn't make much sense, to be honest. Like, it explained her motivations okay, but I just feel her original backstory was more potent.
And finally, let's talk about the ending! Is it a lovely ending that felt earned? Kind of! Was it kind of unsatisfying? A little. Is it the ending I would have gone with? Nope!
Look, you know me. I like for things to have consequences, and to be frank, a full reset to create a world where everyone is alive and happy feels a little too neat.
So what would I have done? Well, I would still have done the (almost) everyone lives thing. Like, Asuka gets reformed and ejected like we saw. Give us a scene where Rei is absorbing the souls or essences or whatever from all the other Rei's and have her be reborn into a new body THAT DOESN'T TURN INTO TANG! Have Shinji make his wish or whatever to erase Angels and Evas, but NOT reset the world.
Like, sure, have Mari come in and save him and Rei, and they all get out. Have Asuka's escape pod wash up on a beach and let her out, and she finds Shinji, Rei, and Mari lying not far off, maybe have her give Shinji a small smack as comedic payback for the strangling thing, then they all link arms and walk off toward the village. Then over the credits, we can see what almost looked like was going to happen. The AAA Wunder's crew returns to the village, Sakura and Touji get a big hug, Ritsuko tells Misato's son about his mother's sacrifice and comforts him. The rest of the pilots arrive and are greeted by everyone, with Mari hamming it up, Asuka looking annoyed, Shinji embarrassed, while Rei is looking around in confusion like she recognizes the place. Maybe have Hikari and her kid give her a big hug or something.
Then we get a montage of the LCL slowly dissolving all over the world, cities being purified, the oceans being cleaned, and those Ark pods from the AAA Wunder starting new life. We see the kids...well, maybe not get older (Eva curse and all that), but maturing and participating in rebuilding the world. Forests are planted, animals repopulate, things are healing. Then as an after-credit scene we can have Shinji and Mari flirting in the train station to show that everything turned out all right.
But that's what I would do, not what Anno would do. And Evangelion has very much been Anno's story in every possible way, and to him, it was important to create a world completely without Evangelions. So how could I be mad?
So, this wraps up Neon Genesis Evangelion! And on the whole, I'm pretty damned satisfied. It was a messy journey, and I'm glad of it. And you know what? I'd say these movies actually bumped Evangelion up several places in my favorite anime list. Like, top five, possibly.
Hideki Anno? You crazy bastard, you did it. You actually ended Evangelion. It took you three tries, but you finally pulled it off.
So, what else is there to say, except...

you have read a lot of the wings au so I hope you don't mind me sending this but. would you mind me using you as an information source real quick?
if you don't mind then my question is: how much do you know about Phoenix (the girl)? Like her purpose in the story and how she got to where she is, what she does, her relationship to the people around her, why she's important.
The thing is I know all the answers to those questions but I've lost track of just how much has actually been shared in the story so. not ideal for writing! I thought you might know some things though!
anyway that's all; I should've kept more thorough notes instead of using vibes but I didn't so I'm here :). no pressure to answer but I hope you have a good day/night!
Quil I'm so sorry, I wanted to try and give you a much better response, however my time is quite squished at the moment, and I figured you want an answer somewhat quickly because you wanna include something in the upcoming chapter(s).
So, please take my late-night assumptions as I try to answer these questions to the best (which admittedly isn't great) ability:
What is Pheonix's purpose?
We don't really know! Girly has something to do with the monsters, (she's tamed one after all) and she was present during the decimation of the gnome village, and she knows about the gnome's journal and doesn't want Murad to know about it.
My memory is fuzzy, but it seems that she's a huge part of the Neverseen/Pheonix's plans to stop the mistake that they'd created.
How'd she get there?
Honestly I don't remember! You could have mentioned it once or twice, but she could have been scooped up off the streets, have a family, or she could have been created like Sophie was for the Black Swan.
My assumptions lean more toward the former, simply because of the way that Murad and Fintan both seem to treat her, along with the tests that they conduct.
What does she do?
You got me there! She seems to be incredibly intelligent, but we haven't gotten a confirmation of abilities other that chatting and taming the monster that she treats as a companion.
Relationships:
Murad: She definitely seems afraid or at the very least intimidated by him, probably because she knows what he's done to achieve his goals.
Fintan: Seems more nurturing, I remember him described as taking her hand a couple times and thinking that he may be a pyromaniac who's sanity is probably out the window, but he still has some kind of parental/mentor instincts in him.
Sophie: A little afraid, but desperate enough to get away from Pheonix and Murad to give her clues and help her escape from the facility.
Why's she important?
I'm dying to know honestly. Brain is scratching for an answer but it is not coming up with much. She's playing into this big plan but how? Bestie I cannot wait to find out.

The Phenomenon of the Immortal Sun: Jasper Hale x Fleur Swan, Chapter 1
Tumblr media
Summary: It was time for Fleur Swan to become Fleur Hale/Whitlock. She has started to adjust to the lifestyle of a vegetarian vampire as well as her powers, which she seems to develop a new one once in a while. But what happens when something happens that none of the Cullens are prepared for.
"Nature will get her way Though you took her for a fool Walking on the lake Frozen under you."
Run Cried the Crawling by, Anges Obel
When Bella got home from Vegas with Edward at her side it was the most pissed off my dad had ever been at her. He knew she would throw out the "I'll move away." Card on him but he wasn't fazed by it anymore. She was married, and a adult... he couldn't stop her. It was satisfying to see dad finally stand up to her, letting go of the fear of losing her. Bella eventually developed a guilty look on her face while Edward tensed by her side. She decided that she would have her honeymoon after Jasper and I got married, since dad would know we would both be out of the house. It confused me since she would have to wait 5 months just to go on her honeymoon, it also delayed her changing into a vampire. Since they both agreed to do it on there honeymoon.
Regarding me however my eyes are still a dark red rose color, which completely puzzled the Cullens. It confused me as well...knowing that after a year of transformation my eyes should be golden by now. I had never drunken an once of human blood but, my eyes were just as red as they were when I first turned. My blood lust got a lot better and I was beginning to gain control of my powers. It turns out I am also a shape shifter in a sense... I can transform myself into anyone I wanted to be. Things seemed to have calmed down it was nice to have a moment of serenity.
I stood in my room which was now void of my items being out on display. They were instead all in boxes stacked up on top of each other. Dad helped me out earlier in the day, it was nice to spend so one-on-one time with him while I still lived here. Bella was packing up too, excited to finally leave the house and become a vampire. She wouldn't let dad help her out however and spent her time locked up in her room. Probably waiting for Edward to enter and talk with her. I just sat down on my bed looking at my surroundings when I heard Jasper enter through my window.
"I was waiting for you to show up." I said grabbing him by the collar of his shirt and pulling him in for a kiss.
"Mmm, hello to you too." Jasper said.
"You're not going to believe who accepted my RVSP'd to the wedding..."
"Who is it?"
"My mom, her new husband is coming with her too."
"I hope they won't cause any trouble." Jasper grumbled.
"Well... the last thing I said to her was when I moved back down here when I was 15...I told her that next time I see her would be at my wedding. I then told her that she would enjoy the the open bar and her speech for me would be her barfing all over the place. So umm... be prepared for that to happen." I explained trying to hold in a laugh at the face Jasper made.
"Damn love...you're brutal sometimes."
"Thank you... that is so sweet to say!"
"You better get down to our place... Alice and Rosalie are waiting for you so they can throw you a Bachelorette party."
"Yeah... they'll probably break the house trying to get to me." I said and then began to laugh.
"Have fun darlin." Jasper said softly.
"You too, if Emmett, Edward, and Dean got you a stripper I will murder all of them."
"Don't worry about that darlin, we're merely going out to the woods to hunt bears... maybe a few mountain lions. Besides Edward won't be there anyway"
"Oh fun...wait, Edward won't be there?"
"Yeah... it seems he still holds a grudge after I called him a boy before the battle."
"Only a boy would be offended by that." I said
"I better go love you." Jasper replied and pecked my cheek.
"Love you too." I did the same thing, pecking his cheek. He left a few seconds afterward leaving me alone. I pulled on pair of boots and ran downstairs.
"I'll see you later dad, Rose and Alice are throwing me a little party."
"Alright Petal, love you."
"Love you too!"
I arrived at the Cullen's house in record time, my tracking ability had improved greatly. I zoomed up to the door and before I could open it Rosalie, Esme, Bree, and Alice stood there with excited smiles on their faces.
"The party has arrived." I said jokingly.
They all laughed and ushered me into the lounge room.
Bree had been living with us ever since the end of the battle, she struggled to conform to the diet after living off of human blood so long and she couldn't leave the house much since she was presumed dead. But Jasper has been helping her out a lot.
"I can't wait to see what you did with the venue outside... can I take a look?"
"No, you may not, Rosalie and I all agreed that you shouldn't see it until tomorrow. It'll be great with the pictures."
"Okay okay... is the dress finished?"
"Yes, now that you can see." Rosalie said, dragging me down to her room. A large vanity was set up with hundreds of makeup products. I turned around and saw my dress... it was beautiful.
(I know the dresses aren't exactly the same but just pretend the one showing off the back of the dress has sleeves haha.)

a"Oh my gosh Rose, you know my style so well."
"You're going to look beautiful tomorrow." Esme said, her gracious smile still on her face.
"Thank you guys so much... for everything."
"No problem Fleur, I can't wait for you to officially be a part of the family." Alice replied.
"So, how is everything back at home?" Rosalie said, already playing with my hair.
"It's tense...dad's pissed at Bella, Bella is pissed at dad. I still can't believe she actually eloped."
"Doesn't surprise me any... Bella's priorities have certainly changed." Alice grumbled.
"Yeah... not gonna lie though Alice they've always been like that, she just hid it from you guys pretty well."
"Yeah... I guess so." Alice said disappointment was on her face.
"Let's talk about something else...Fleur, did Jasper tell you where you two were going for your honeymoon?"
"No... he wants it to be a surprise, I can't wait to see where we're going."
"I'm sure it's going to be fun." Alice said, nudging me playfully.
"If I could blush right now, I would." I said.
Timeskip: The next day.
"Rosalie this is like we rehearsed it... smile and don't kill my mother." I reminded her.
"I'll try my best... Why does Bella have to be a bridesmaid again?" She said, brushing back my long black hair.
"Because I don't need my mother talking my ear off saying how selfish I am."
I saw Alice shake her head before going back to steaming my dress in the background.
"Fleur, Rosalie? Where are you guys?" I heard my dad call out.
"In here dad!" I called back.
"Renee get your butt up here your daughter is getting married. Get over this stupid grudge." I heard dad yell. Rosalie, Alice, and I all laughed.
"Aww, you look beautiful Petal." Dad said, smiling at me. I said Renee in the background she had a shocked look on her face.
"Thanks, Dad, you can thank Rosalie and Alice for all of this. Mom? You gonna come over? I'm not infected with anything you know."
She scoffed and walked up to me, we both gave each other fake smiles.
"Did you get plastic surgery? Your face looks... I don't know more sculpted." She said.
"No mother I just aged... the last time you saw me I was 15, I'm 20 now." I lied, everyone knew most vampires' facial features perfected when fully changed. But I couldn't exactly tell her that.
"Okay..." She said in a skeptical voice. I heard Rosalie growl behind me.
"Renee knock it off." Dad said he had a curt look on his face.
"Well since it's your wedding day we thought you needed something blue." Renee started, her face didn't look too happy.
"And something old, besides your mother." Dad joked, Rosalie and Alice let out a chuckle.
"Nice Charlie," Renee said rolling her eyes.
Dad then opened a jewelry box that had a hairpiece in it. I knew it was grandma swans.
"It was Grandma Swans, I added the Sapphires though, I thought it matched your ring pretty well. When the time comes around you can give it to your daughter." Dad said he handed it to Rosalie so she could put it in my hair.
"Aww thank you so much dad." I said I was lucky I didn't have my dress on yet so I could hug him.
"Should've saved this for Bella." Renee grumbled quitely.
"Oh no I forgot her veil, Rose could you come with me?" Alice asked.
Rosalie hesitated before answering.
"Sure..." They walked out a few seconds later.
"So... you stuck true to your guns. I didn't see you until your wedding day." Dad just looked at the two of us and walked out.
"Yep."
"How many men did you date before you got engaged to this one. I know how bored you can get." Renee said, implying I sleep around a lot.
"He's the first and only man I've dated." Renee's reflection was shocked in the mirror.
"Well... I knew my Bella would do that but... not, you." She said in a condescending voice.
"You have no idea what Bella has done."
"So who is he?" Renee said, ignoring my previous statement.
"His name is Jasper and he's an amazing, kind human being." I answered back, pride-filled my voice. I could suddenly feel Bella's presence behind the wall in the other room listening in on us.
"Sure... we all know women like you say that when the men have slept with you."
"You're childish insults do not bother me anymore mother."
"What childish insults? I'm stating facts." Renee said, acting innocent.
"Yeah, facts you convinced yourself are true."
"All I know is if my Bella wouldn't gotten married so young. So let's cut to the chase how far along are you?"
'I'm not pregnant Renee, I need to go help Rose and Alice find that veil." I got up to walk away when I got an idea.
"Oh by the way, Bella got married at nineteen in Vegas."
Renee just stood there in shock. I smiled in satisfaction.
"Enjoy the open bar!"

Hey Quil , how are you today ?
I wanted to ask you what is your opinion on Tiegrin saying that sophie started a war after she burnt down the Neverseen headquarters ?
Honestly tho sophie was right , this has been a war long before sophie commiting arson , this has been a war ever since Prentice was exiled and maybe even before that
Hello to you, too! I'm doing quite alright, as today is the first day in weeks that I have had no midterms looming on the horizon!! I finished the last two yesterday! But seriously I've had midterms since...wait let me check. The 15th of February. So it's been like three weeks, but I'm finally done! Honestly don't know what to do now that I am. But anyways!
As for Sophie being blamed for turning this battle into a war, I am 100% on her side. I think, while her actions were extreme and I might've gone about things a little differently, the reasoning behind what she did and the logic she employed afterwards was sound and align with my personal opinions as well. I don't think she is the one who turned things into a war, and I don't think that being pinned on her holds. Yes, they have a point that they haven't been offensive before, but I don't think that's enough to justify blaming Sophie for an entire war.
I have employed the use of the Mirriam-Webster Dictionary to bring you these definitions of war: "a state of usually open and declared armed hostile conflict between states or nations" and "a struggle or competition between opposing forces or for a particular end." These are the definitions I'm going to be using in this post, as I think they fit our understanding of what war is. Looking at them, they seem to fit what has been happening with the Black Swan and Neverseen, perhaps even the Council at times. They have been openly engaging in armed conflicts since like...book 3? Book 2 if you count the battle that injured Silveny. I don't think anyone has outright declared war in the series (aside from King Dimitar) but they have openly declared hostile intentions against each other and intentions to defeat the other, frequently though armed force.
They are two opposing forces that are fighting against each other as they each try to achieve their own ends to the problem of the Lost Cities. While the Black Swan has been defensive instead of offensive, that doesn't mean they haven't been fighting back and haven't been at war. I think they've been at war in every way except for labeling it as such.
Maybe it didn't look like a war to us at first or we didn't realize it, given that Sophie's kidnapping and the ambushes in book 2 were our first introduction to the conflict and seemed like isolated attacks/incidents. But they're instead the result of this decades long conflict between the two groups, and I think Sophie was very right to call it a war! The elves may not like the word, but that is what is happening to their world, that is what they have been fighting this entire time.
I don't know off the top of my head what key moment could be attributed to it becoming a war, but it definitely was earlier than Sophie burning down the storehouse. I simply have difficulty believing that given everything that has happened, that was the breaking point. I can absolutely see how the elves, the peaceful species they are, would think like that. But just because it's what they think doesn't make it right. Sophie, with her human thinking and understanding of violence and conflict, was right (in my opinion) to label it and approach it like a war much earlier. The violence and the attacks and all that--I mean, killing a world leader??--feels like the elves should've declared war on the Neverseen long ago, but they're refusing to treat it as such because they think it's unsavory and unbecoming.
Sophie doesn't have that approach, so she can think of it how it should be and how it needs to be. The elves have been trying their methods for decades and they haven't worked, and that is why Sophie exists!! To give a new perspective!! And they aren't allowing her to do that, and are shocked and even a little horrified when she does it anyways. She is there because their methods and ideologies failed, and yet they still rely on them. Sophie isn't going to because all of their ideologies she's had to actively learn, they aren't mindsets she necessarily believes. She's got a unique combination of morals and determination with the ability to do a lot of what she wants. I hope she continues to act out if they won't let her serve her purpose another way.
That was a long way of saying that I agree with Sophie that this situation has been a war long before she burned down the storehouse. She may have escalated and changed a few things dynamic wise, but I don't think she is what made this a war. it's infuriating to read of everyone disagreeing with her and being so judgemental, but it does give good insight to the characters. And there are a few good fics people have written where she actually yells at them instead and it's incredibly satisfying
it's a crucial part of the series, so thank you for the opportunity to talk about it!
