DPXDC Prompt #97
The Justice League fought hard against the anti ecto acts but unfortunately it wasn’t enough and the laws were passed anyways but not before a clause was added to them that states the JL had the right to pull a ghost out of a facility of they had potential to work for them. When they see the potential hero Phantom is caught by the GIW they of course do their best to acquire him. Unfortunately the government sees Phantom as JL property now instead of his own person. Phantom seemed content being trapped on the watchtower and explained it was better than whatever the GIW was planning. Superman thinks something weird is going on with the ghost as when he supposedly went to bed in the room he was assigned he’d temporarily gain a heartbeat again. Constantine is just glad the young prince hasn’t decided to kill anyone in the US congress yet for passing such a ridiculous law. Batman’s adoption senses are tickling.

Danny decides to open a haunted house for Halloween-in Gotham. For kicks. He reserves the opening night for the Bats and only the Bats. The Bats do not have a choice in this.
They all wake up in the haunted house.
Their rogues, who had big plans, also wake up in the haunted house-but they don't get the toned down spooky version Danny's working on for potential customers that he's doing a test-run with via Bat testers.
No, the Rogues are locked in the basement with the ghosts of everyone they've killed.
Danny's got Tucker running the cameras, Sam helping coordinate the Ghosts, and Danny himself is running the actual spooky bits.
In theory, it's the perfect haunted house.
The best way to test it though, he feels, is against heroes that face scary things every day.
So.
Red Hood walking down a hallway, sees feet dangling from the ceiling. But there's a convenient beam blocking their view, so he strides up just as the feet vanish-and that's a solid wooden ceiling.
There's a note with a smiley face.
"Please rate your haunting experience on a scale of one to ten! :)"
Robin sees a shadow, and he chases it. And chases it. And chases it. And foolishly he somehow manages to let it lead him to a dead end-only when he turns around, the shadow is in the door.
And it's just a being made of pure shadow, with elongated limbs, breathing with a horrible wet rasp as it stares down at him.
Then it disappears.
In it's place, there's a note.
"Please rate your haunting experience on a scale of one to ten! :)"
Red Robin hears Batman call out for him to look something over, so he goes into the room.
Batman isn't there.
Batman's voice whispers in his ear from behind.
"Never thought you'd fall for that~"
The door slams shut.
Red Robin turns to open it, but it won't open. Not even if he picks the lock.
The floor creaks, and when he turns around he sees Batman standing right there-only for him to dissolve piece by piece.
In the puddle of weird green goo, there's a note.
"Please rate your haunting experience on a scale of one to ten! :)"
Bruce is in what looks like a child's room.
The temperature drops, and he braces for a supernatural event, because this is clearly what's going on.
The air stands still-and every single toy's head snaps to look at him.
They open their mouths and scream, green goo gargling up and spilling out of their lips.
The lights cut out, then they come back on; and the toys are all arranged around him in a peculiar pattern.
There's a note at his feet.
His lips quirk up against his will.
"Please rate your haunting experience on a scale of one to ten! :)"
Nightwing knows he's being fucked with.
He knows it.
He recognizes the room he's in-it was in the pamphlet for the new haunted house opening in Gotham. He'd really wanted to go, actually, but he was kinda sad he didn't have anyone with him.
He wanted it to be a family outing.
But from what it looks like, this is probably a test run. No ones emergency beacons have gone off, and there's only swearing in the comms cut through with mild amusement on Bruce's part.
Ugh, he doesn't want spoilers! He wants to go through it for the first time with everyone else!
"Hey, um, I was actually planning to come here with my family! I don't really want to be spoiled on anything, so can I skip this? And can I have anyone you haven't tested it on skip it too? Cuz they're probably friends or family and I want to be on the same knowledge level of what to expect."
The air itself seems to pause.
"Ah, shit, I'm sorry man. I didn't even think of that; I'll pull Spoiler and Signal before we start their runs."
Nightwing turns towards the intercom and waves cheerfully.
"I mean, we'd definitely be down to walk through the house tonight, but I want to do it in a group so we can laugh at each other."
"Oh, for sure, I just got too caught up in the 'creepy' part of the haunted house. The exit is hidden in the wall to your left, just pick up the rotary phone and it should pop out."
"Alright, I'll be waiting for them at the front!"

The Death of Me //part 1
Fandom: Aquaman
Summary: (very small spoilers for the movie) Finding Orm on your doorstep was not something you expected. Having him move in was even worse. But the effect he still had on every part of your life would be the death of you.
Tumblr media
The sun was blinding, but unfortunately, not enough to make the man standing before you disappear.
“You're in surprisingly good shape for a dead person,” you said.
“And you look terrible for someone supposedly alive,” said Orm.
You shrugged and immediately regretted it. The tight bandages keeping your shoulder in place worked as a poor reminder it was out of commission for the next few weeks.
“How I've missed that princely charm. Piss me off some more and, half-dead or not, I'm gonna kick your ass back into that desert I got it from. It might be the last thing I do, but if I become a ghost, I'll brag about it for eternity.”
Your mood soured further with every minute you remained conscious. Surprises and resurrections, you could deal with, but your ability to be polite left long ago. There were a lot of impolite and certainly unprincely words bubbling in your chest, but they all disappeared when the most magical, impossible, and straight-out-of-fairy-tales thing happened.
Orm, of his own volition, smiled.
The sun was still doing its best to blind your already red and swollen eyes—it failed yet again. You examined the strange occurrence, with the furrowed brows and all the small wrinkles and tiny folds in the skin that usually accompanied a person’s smile looking perfectly normal on his face. It was a genuine smile. You could only blink at him for a moment
“I thought scowling was the only expression you had. Like a factory setting, you know.”
“I'm glad to hear you are as sharp as ever, despite your current shortcomings.”
“Excuse you, I'm in great shape.”
The man in front of you politely didn't argue. It was rather clear from his expression that he had some serious doubts about not only the state of your body, but also about your mental capacity of acknowledging said state, but he made the wise choice of keeping these thoughts to himself.
Wise was your middle name; therefore, you allowed the silence to confirm your words. At the same time, you shifted more of your weight against the doorframe, hoping your grimace came across as menacing rather than painful. Your leg needed a bit of rest, nothing serious. It totally wasn’t almost crushed to pieces a few weeks ago.
The smile on Orm’s face, an expression you could get used to seeing, started to shift into a look of concern as he watched your eyes. You looked away, afraid of how much he could see. Before you could react, he picked you up and carried you inside the house.
It was a pretty house, very spacious, just like old rich men tended to enjoy—which might explain why Batman bought it a long time ago as a safehouse far from any prying eyes, and why he allowed you to occasionally use it as such.
Yet, despite all the initial spaciousness, it was rather easy to clutter if the person living inside had a few cracked bones, general lack of energy to move, and never invited anyone around to see the mess.
Orm raised an eyebrow when he noticed a sofa dragged into the kitchen area and the amount of empty, crushed packaging laying around it. You hated how much could be expressed without saying a word.
“Put me down.”
Your words came out weaker than intended. Orm held you in a bridal carry which put immense pressure on your cracked ribs and sent flashes of pain every time you inhaled. But he was so warm and close that your anger sizzled and faded.
With your head on his shoulder, you had the perfect view of his perfect profile and the perfect frown deepening the wrinkles between his brows.
“So, this is how you live now?” was all he said, in a controlled tone.
“I know you're not deaf and heard me the first time. Put me down. Preferably on my beautiful and completely normal kitchen bed, thank you.”
You sighed with relief once he finally listened. Even though the pressure of his arms around you disappeared, somehow you still felt his warmth, as if it seeped into your battered, bruised flesh. You felt your face getting hot and decided against following that train of thought.
Your heart, for a reason you also chose to ignore, skipped a beat when Orm turned on his heel and walked back to the front door. It took him comparatively less time than when you had to drag your ass to open it a few minutes ago.
But rather than walking outside and disappearing from your life again, Orm only closed the door. And then turned the lock too.
“I don’t like where this is going,” you said, in vain hope that all of this was just a bad dream you'd soon wake up from.
“What a shame,” Orm said with no shame whatsoever in his voice.
“Why are you here? I might be a little late with that question, but I'd still love to know the answer.”
Orm took measured steps to the kitchen table, assessing the seat with the least amount of trash surrounding it, and sat down. He sat upright, posture uncompromised in the face of a backless stool, and folded his hands on the table. How he looked royal surrounded by trash and cold leftovers was beyond you.
“As you have witnessed, thanks to Arthur, after that final battle I got a way out of my old life. I enjoyed it for the most part, and even wandered the surface world for a while. And then I heard about your accident and came to settle my debts.”
“You don't have a debt to me.”
“When I was awaiting sentencing for my crimes, you were the one that took care of me. And not so long ago, you helped Artur break me out of that prison. That alone guarantees my utmost respect.”
“Your debt is paid, you owe me nothing.”
“That's not how it works.”
“I don't need a nurse, especially one who isn’t wearing a sexy costume.”
“I'm afraid that part is not negotiable.”
“Wait.” You squinted, doing your best to focus your thoughts despite a rising migraine. “This cottage is in the middle of nowhere, with the nearest town a few hours on foot and only if you already know the way. And the only people that knew I got… a little roughed up, were those in the Justice League. Did Artur give you a ride here because he felt guilty he didn’t stop that building in Venice from falling on me?”
“Every day I am thankful that I don't know the inner workings of my brother’s mind.”
“So he did.”
You let your head fall back onto the makeshift kitchen-bed. It was too much for you.
You grabbed the pills from your secret under-the-pillow stash of meds and swallowed some painkillers.
“I'm going to kill your brother.”
“May you have more luck than I did. Now, do you even own any clean clothes?”

I don't know why Tumblr keeps forbidding me from editing requests! Why do you hate me, Tumblr?! 😭
Request: Hi! I love your one shots, and I was wondering if you could maybe do a clingy!yandere!batfamily (with all the family members) please and thank you!
Warning: Clingy behavior, forced cuddling, mentions of manipulation, they were cudding with her so much that batgirl reader was suffocating
The reader is going to be referred to as 'Batgirl'
~~~~~
In those nights of Gotham, the night where there aren't a lot of crimes. People would wonder what Batman and his small family are up to.
Watching a movie is what they're doing.
While cuddling with their little batgirl at the same time.
"Guys, can you stop talking? I can't hear," she tells them as she munch on her popcorn.
Currently, Batgirl was being held by her siblings at the point where she was going to be breathless. She was trying to focus on the screen, but she couldn't because of the weight on her siblings onto her.
"Shhhh... Just focus, my dear baby sister," Stephanie reassures her as she strokes her sister's head.
"Don't touch her, Brown!" Damian scolds her as he swats her hand away.
"Be careful with her head!" Tim said as he tries to make one of them hold the back of her head.
"Calm down, Tim. I got her," Duke reassures him as Cassandra is just hugging her sister's small body.
"All of you are touching her," Barbara corrects him as she munched onto her candy.
"We have to make sure that she's safe, Babs!" Dick said as he clutched onto Batgirl tightly in his arms.
"Stop pulling her so close to you, bastard," Jason said in a harsh tone that made her jolt.
Then, the two oldest children began to argue. That's when the others joined in as well, which made the movie audio unheard. Meanwhile, Batgirl is just munching on her popcorn as she tries to focus on the movie.
As she was watching, she was suddenly picked up out of her seat by someone. She looks up to see Bruce lifting her up.
"Hey, the movie is not done," she said as she pointed at the big screen as she watched Bruce pick up his bowl of popcorn.
"I couldn't hear. Well, you may now why," he said as he glanced at the rest of his children.
With that, he walks out of the theater, leaving the arguing batsiblings behind.
~~~~~
After a long argument, the others saw that their little sister is gone.
They were silent before gave each other glances before they quickly departed ways.
As they were looking around the mansion, they heard Jason make a signal that made everyone quickly run upstairs where they see him next to the smiling Alfred.
They were wondering what was happening before they saw the scene in front of them.
Bruce was holding onto Batgirl as she was underneath his covers, asleep while holding onto her stuffed animal, Batsie. The TV in his room was playing the same movie and the parts that they couldn't watch because of the other children's arguing in the theater.
They were just exchanging looks as they stared at their father and mentor cuddling with their sister. A pit of jealously rose inside them, but at the same time, they knew who won.
Bruce then gets up and turns off the TV before he walks out of his bedroom and gently closes the door.
"We have to go and patrol for tonight. Duke, Tim, Stephanie. You three will come with me. Alfred, prepare the guest room for me when I get back."
He orders with his Batman demeanor before he walks off. When he walked off, the others turned to each other.
"Looks like we know the winner of this whole thing, but not for long," Dick said as some of the others groaned out of defeat.
However, at the same time, they couldn't help but adore the sleeping Batgirl on the bed.

Don't Say You Need Me - Jonathan Crane Drabble
Warnings - none except refrenced non consented ghost hands
Tumblr media
— ˗ˋ ୨୧ ˊ˗ —
It'd been almost 2 weeks since she'd last heard from the man she loved. Last time she'd seen him he'd been the one to reach out, look for her until he found her, to tell her he missed her and needed her back. Like always she believed him, blurred by the rose lens of love. He'd been there for a while, not long but a little longer than usual until one morning he'd left, with nothing but a few words of how he needed to leave and couldn't explain it to her.
Here she was now, laying in her bed, a comforter covering her from head to toe as she stared out her apartment window into the gloomy streets of Gotham. The tv was playing in the background, the news reporter buzzing about more criminal attacks of people dying from a gas poison. She could care less, a villain could come into her apartment now and strip her of everything but she wouldn't care, her heart had been ripped out again.
The moon was bright in the sky, but clouds would come and cover it again, leaving her in darkness again.
It was late into the night, but she couldn't sleep.
Flipping over, she looked at her small clock, 2:37, it read. It's been days since she'd gotten good rest even if all she did was rot in bed.
She hasn't always been this way, she'd been with many men before, but none of them had made her so sad to lose like Jonathan had. She'd been strong, never shedding a tear for any of them, telling herself they weren't worth it. But then came the doctor, with his charming good looks and stoic personality.
Lost in thought she once again stared into nothing in particular, lost in thoughts that kept coming. Her phone lit up, she zoned into it. She was getting a phone call. Sitting up, she picked it up, the caller ID was unknown.
Furrowing her brows she answered, "Hello?"
"Y/n, hello. It's Jonathan."
Silence filled the room, her heart leaped in her chest, from happiness, excitement, pure bliss. It was like the color had returned into her life once again. She was happy to hear his voice again, like a drug it lured her in and had her addicted everytime.
"My love, where have you been? I've been worried sick." She inhaled shakily, the news of his voice making her happiness overpowering, "Oh, i've missed you so much, Jonathan.." she whispered. She was now sitting up completely, the first movements she'd done in a while.
"I've been busy here at Arkham, you know how my job is. Lunatic after lunatic. You wouldn't believe how many crazies are in this city." His voice sounded the same, yet she could suspect a different hint of tone from his usual annoyed one, it sounded darker, but she couldn't put her finger on it. She decided she was imagining it, from her lack of sleep and time since she last heard him.
She let out a giggle, "Yeah, I'm sure, I've seen the news. There's a new criminal they call the Scarecrow, spraying victims with a fear gas. Another crazy you'll be seeing soon, huh?" There was a noise in the call as if a shift in fabric, "Perhaps if he's caught. I've seen him around the media, his techniques are quite intelligent though, the police haven't caught him, not even the infamous Batman." There was a snarkiness in his voice, his annoyed tone had returned, his tone almost sounded insulted at her comment.
She wondered why, then another question popped up, "Why did you call me until now, Jon?" She was now frowning, looking down at her knees, her heart aching in fear of what he would say.
"Ah yes, I called you because I wanted to see you, my darling." Her frown lifted, a smile replacing it as she bit her lip happily.
"I've been wanting to see you more than anything. When did you want to meet up?"
"I'm outside your apartment complex, if now is fine." Jolting up she looked outside her window, seeing him walk into the doors of the complex, her heart raced as she looked at herself.
She looked a bit messy from laying in bed, "Oh, um, yes now is fine. Let me just clean up a bit. Just knock when you're here please." He gave a quick response, as she hung up. She wasn't sure what he needed but now her nerves were getting to her as she replaced the lounge clothes she wore with actual clothes. Slipping on a small black skirt and sweater, she tidied up her hair as she heard a knock.
Opening the door, she smiled widely, there stood the man she'd yearned for, dressed in his usual suit. "Jonathan…" She embraced him in a tight hug around the neck, holding onto him like he'd disappear into thin air again, "I've missed you so so much." She exhaled into his neck. He placed a hand on her waist, he'd never been much of a physical person. Stepping back, she stared into his face, smile never leaving as she motioned him to come in. He did so, she noticed he was carrying a suitcase with him, she assumed he'd just got out from Arkham.
"Good to see you too, darling. I needed to see you again." He spoke, setting down his suitcase on the kitchen table. Her heart fluttered at his words, he did seem a bit different.
He sat down at one of the tables and she accompanied him in doing so. Staring at him, she noticed he carried himself with a new demeanor, she didn't speak until he spoke up first, "I'm sorry I left so abruptly. I had an emergency to see to. You know I love and need you, my darling."
She nodded, smiling as she grabbed his hand in hers. "I know, my love. Don't worry. I'll always be here for you, I love you more than anything."
Jonathan was pleased to hear this, he gave a smile in return. He knew when he picked her long ago she'd be perfect. No matter how many times he'd left, for months or longer, she accepted him with open arms. He wasn't interested in love or such things but that didn't mean he wasn't good at faking it, he was a master at manipulation and psychological abuse, he was only using what he knew.
"My darling, since you love me so much, would you do anything I told you?" He leaned over, running a hand through her hair lovingly, then moving to her cheek as he caressed it with his thumb. They both equally knew she would, she nodded, placing her hand on top of his as she leaned into his cool touch, bathing in the feel of it.
"Of course, my love."
"Good." He responded, leaning into her and placing a slow kiss onto her lips. She melted into it instantly, closing her eyes and taking in the feeling she missed so much. His lips were warm and he was perfect as always.
A small click was heard, but she ignored it, too infatuated with the man's lips to acknowledge or care. That was until a smell filled her nose, his lips had pulled away by now and she began coughing, opening her eyes she saw smoke and Jonathan had been replaced by a terrifying frowning scarecrow. She let out a scream that was quickly broken by another fit of coughs as she stood up, stepping backwards to get away.
A gruesome voice now filled her head and the room around her was becoming distorted, the lights flickering and dark voids and bugs crawling everywhere. "Oh my darling, having trouble?" The voices seemed to be mocking, she couldn't see him clearly now, only a terrifying dark shadowy figure slowly making its way towards her. She felt hands touching her all over. Falling backwards her body made harsh contact with the floor, she continued to scream, now crying, "Please… please stop, no no no.." she closed her eyes but that only seemed to make it worse as more terrifying images appeared.
"Your pretty little mind can only take so much. Shhh succumb to the fear! Come on my darling, let it all out. Let me see your biggest fears." The voice was tormenting, filling her whole head as she cried harder, the feeling of hands getting more painful on her body. She tried to rub them off frantically, but the feeling only worsened, she felt like she was suffocating. Opening her eyes the scarecrow was face to face with her, distorting and moving into terrifying faces straight from a nightmare.
"Make it stop, make it stop please!" Her words were coming out slurred, whines and whimpers being all that Johnathan heard. She was trying to crawl away, but not to much success. Jonathan could see it was affecting her greatly, he was pleased, a sinister smirk on his face as he ripped the mask off. She was showing to be a great sport, her fear was much more extravagant than he had imagined. He had used a lower dose on her to test it out, but she showed great promise in his future experiments.
Cooing at her, he caressed her face again, her eyes widened in fear as she was paralyzed in place unable to writhe away. Her eyes then closed suddenly as her body went limp, her brain must have exhausted from the high levels of fear.  "You're okay now, Dr. Crane will take care of you for being such a good girl."

For the Hell of It - Anniversary
Tumblr media
Characters: Jason Todd x fem!oc
Rating and warnings: G, no warnings.
Word count: 1,800
Summary: After two years together, Jason takes her out somewhere special for their anniversary.
Masterlist
It was mid morning when Jason called.
That was deeply unusual, this month especially. He had been so busy lately she barely saw him except for the days she got up and found him dead to the world on the other side of her bed.
Idly cataloguing the possible reasons for the call, Andy turned down the radio and stepped away from her laptop.
A serious injury? Unlikely, that call typically came from Alfred and would have happened three hours ago. Location compromised, maybe? Pretty good chance, although it wasn’t usually a call but an emergency alert telling her to get her ass out the door. Maybe he was loopy on fear-toxin antidote again and needed to hear she was still alive.
Most likely situation was Jason calling to tell her he was leaving the country, or the planet, or possibly the universe. Given the timing, it would be… well. Not crushing, but disappointing.
Two years into this relationship, she knew better than to get too precious about calendar dates.
“Hello?” she said with a jaunty tilt of her head. No pre-emptive sulking, she refused.
“Hey beautiful,” Jason’s voice came through the little speaker. It was warm and low. “I’ve missed your voice.”
Her eyebrows rose and relief lit up her face. “Did you just? I’ve got a presentation tomorrow that needs some rehearsing, want to listen to my dulcet tones talk about community support funding?”
He laughed. “I would actually, but I’d rather hear the whole story from the beginning. Are you free this saturday?”
“Hmm, am I free this saturday?” she drawled. “On our anniversary?”
“Yup, that saturday.”
“Why, yes, baby, I think I am. Why do you ask?”
“You’re not free anymore. I’m calling dibs.”
“Oh?” She dared to feel not just relief but anticipation.
“8pm. I’ll come get you.”
“Alright. How am I dressing? Steel capped boots? Running shoes? Ballet flats?” She had learned the vital importance of this question since going out with him. Jason’s plans were best faced prepared.
“Heels,” he said, and she could hear the smirk in his voice. “Wear that slinky red number you hide at the back of the closet.”
She paused. Of course he’d seen it. “I’ve… never actually worn that before.”
“What did you get it for then?” he asked, teasing.
“Oh, you know. Maybe I’ll get invited to the Oscars.”
He laughed, low and promising. “I’ll make you feel like you did.”
She bit her lip. She was grinning like an idiot, alone in her own apartment. Two years in and she could still melt her with a word.
“Okay.”
“I’ll see you Saturday, sweetheart.”
They hung up and she drifted to her closet, eyeing up the dress.
He couldn’t make their first anniversary. The planet was under an invasion while Bruce was off-world dealing with some other, separate invasion, so Jason and Dick split up cowl temping duties. Dick went to go play Batman with the Justice League and Jason stayed to play Batman in Gotham.
He was more than capable of it and the average criminal didn’t even realise there was a different guy under the cowl. They just thought Batman was feeling extra mean this month. But it more than doubled his workload.
It didn’t blindside her. They were both disappointed but didn’t make a fuss, they had a system in place for these things. Both made compromises and extended grace to the other, and their relationship was stronger for it.
All the same, when Saturday night rolled around and she heard the purr of a car rolling up outside, excitement fizzed in her chest like bubbles in champagne.
She put on her finishing touches and went out to meet him.
Jason waited for her in a perfectly tailored black suit. He didn’t fancy himself up very often, or ever, in fact. Having him dressed up was more of a luxury than the McLaren sports car he was leaning against.
She drank in the sight of him. He looked like he could put Brucie Wayne to shame. The smirk on his face completed the ensemble.
“Hey, beautiful,” he said.
She wore her floor length evening dress, with a halter neck and the most indulgent plunging neckline she had ever worn, to say nothing of the split in the skirt. It was also bright red. She felt a little shy in it, but it wasn’t a dress for hiding in. She had towering black stilettos on her feet and a lazy swing in her hips. She wanted him to look his fill.
His eyes roamed over her with open appreciation. They were shortly followed by his hands, settling on her hips. He pulled her to him.
How was he still so much taller than her?
He kissed her, slow and deep and hungry. She leaned into him. He luxuriated in her.
Her night was off to a wonderful start.
Once they could bring themselves to part, he helped her into the car, and drove them off into the night. She put her hand on his thigh. He interlocked his fingers with hers and drove one handed. Gotham’s lights flashed by as they left their native little corner of the city behind. They wound through the Diamond District.
They slowed to a stop in the courtyard of a softly glowing restaurant. There was a cellist playing in the foyer. She recognised the name in a looping font over the door. She’d read it on some list of world best’s.
“You did not get a booking here on Wednesday. Did you?”
“I booked a year ago.” He shrugged. “I wasn’t going to miss it twice.”
She squeezed his hand. A ‘thank you’ wouldn’t encapsulate just how much it meant to her. She knew the case he was working on wasn't wrapped up yet. He lifted her hand and kissed her palm.
She looked out the window at the people getting out of cars ahead of them. Doubt niggled at the back of her head.
“I may not actually be fancy enough for these people,” she confessed.
Jason scoffed. “Sweetheart, you’re gonna put everyone else here to shame.” He killed the engine and turned to her. “They should be grateful for the privilege of seeing you. I know I am.”
She smiled, ducking her head a little. He tilted her chin back up and looked into her eyes, leaning down towards her.
“You know these windows are tinted?” he said.
She snorted a laugh. He snatched a kiss.
“If you smudge my makeup, so help me.”
“Sweets, you know that’s a challenge.” He tipped her chin higher and kissed her neck, expertly dodging where she had blended her foundation into her skin.
She sighed. She loved this ridiculous man so much.
A valet tapped his window and Jason drew back with a sly grin.
He got out and came around to open her door for her. It was a necessity given how low the seats and how tall her heels were, but she was happy to lean into the fantasy as he took her hand.
Doubt was for behind closed doors. With the world watching she stepped out into the courtyard in a flutter of red silk and her chin held high. Jason slung an arm around her waist, resting low on her hip. They walked like they belonged because who the hell was going to tell them they didn’t?
They were welcomed in by the maitre d’ and led across the packed restaurant floor. Jason caressed the curve of her hip without shame.
She spotted the empty table their path led them to. Jason stiffend at her side.
At the table directly next to it sat another couple, presumably also on a date. Bruce Wayne and a gorgeous brunette with a pixie cut, staring deeply into each other’s eyes.
Bruce glanced their way only briefly, and his expression froze.
Dread broke through his public persona for just a moment, a look perfectly mirrored on his son’s face. The collision course was set. Jason walked like he was approaching the gallows.
The brunette noticed the hiccup and looked back, revealing Miss Selina Kyle. She looked at Andy and rolled her eyes in commiseration.
“Actually,” Andy said, tossing her hair back and stopping in place.
The maitre d’ paused in his path.
“I would love to sit on the mezzanine floor. With the wall of flowers? It must be so beautiful.”
She ruthlessly silenced her internal scream over making a fuss. She was not surrendering her evening to Wayne bullshit. She got waxed for this.
“I’m so sorry, Ma’am, the orchid display isn’t currently available, we are preparing an exciting new display for the spring after Poison Ivy-”
“It’s what I want,” she said pleasantly.
“Of course.”
The maitre d’ redirected them with perfect poise. He whispered in a passing waiter’s ear, and led them to the stairs.
Jason took her hand and squeezed it in silent thanks. The tension seeped back out of him. She squeezed back.
The mezzanine was comparatively quiet, with a giant print of Monet’s water lilies erected to cover some construction works. It had a lovely view of the rest of the restaurant however and the glinting chandeliers hung down over the main floor.
Table settings were arranged for them with a swiftness and subtlety even Alfred Pennyworth would approve of. Jason got to sit with his back to a wall and with sightlines over the entire pace, which always made him more comfortable. The table was small, they sat very close together, making it feel more intimate and private.
There were no prices on the menu and she didn’t grasp what the minimalist dish names actually meant. For a moment it filled her with a mute panic. Jason gave her a calm look and played with her hand on the table.
“We’ll have the chef’s menu, and the paired champagne for the table,” he said.
She was more than happy to be swept along. And she could pronounce the champagne better than the waiter, which calmed her fear of making a fool of herself. Jason managed to look exactly as at home here as he did while having a smoke on top of a dumpster in the Alley.
The food was all delicious, albeit in tiny portions on very large plates.
Below the table Jason ran his hand up her bare thigh, his fingers sneaking under the split in the dress.
She made eye contact as she licked the last of a creamy sorbet off her spoon. He watched with unadulterated focus. She ran her bare leg against his briefly, tastefully, and then retreated. He smirked at her. It was the smile of a man who knew exactly where his evening was heading.
He lifted his glass, with the last of its golden liquid in it. “To another year, beautiful.”

Take Me From You #3
(Jason Todd)
[Art is not mine! Credit to Naijarski]

Keys:
Y/N: Your Name
Word Count: 2,814
Warnings and/or Pre-notes:
Gets a little heated at the end
———————————————————————
I can hear the blood beating against the veins in my ears, drowning out the sound of Y/N and Bruce yelling at each other. The scene is almost funny. A hysterical Batman screams at Y/N to not kill as Y/N yells at him for being a murderer. A poor drug dealer sitting between the two screaming adults, confusion and fear on his face. I can feel the laughter brewing in my throat from the scene in front of me.
Even with the mask covering a good chunk of her face, Y/N is as beautiful as she was the last time I saw her. Though she's more filled out than she was when we were fifteen, that only makes her prettier and is expected. She's not going to look the same as she did four years ago. Honestly, she could be in a flour bag, and I would still think she's the most perfect person in the room.
Despite the funny scene in front of me, my heart races. I haven't seen her in years. I didn't even know if she was still in Gotham, let alone still in contact with Bruce. Given, it doesn't seem like good or willing contact, but it's still contact.
Y/N's hair bounces around as she yells, making my fingers ache with the want to run them through it. The want to touch her, hold her, and hear her voice is overwhelming. Well, hear her talk to me in a normal tone at least, but I'm happy to hear her in any way, even if she is yelling. At Bruce, of all people.
"I'm done. I'm done with you, you're helpless!" Bruce yells, throwing his hands up as he parades himself in a little circle. Y/N must have been a big hell-raiser over the years to get a response like that. The bat grabs the drug dealer, dragging him away as he mumbles to himself.
I watch as Y/N turns on her heels, tilting her head back and forth as she uses her hand as a puppet, mimicking Bruce's meltdown as she walks away. It's good to see that she still has her humor. Good to see that Bruce hasn't managed to get her killed yet either.
I follow after her, staying hidden as she walks away. I should talk to her, tell her I'm back. Maybe she knows though. I mean Bruce and Dick know so I would assume Y/N and Alfred know too. Though, if Bruce and her are fighting like this all the time I wouldn't be surprised if Bruce 'forgot' to mention my revival. It's a petty move that would be right up his way.
Y/N turns down an alley, so I wait a second, just in case. The sound of metal scratching concert fills the night. It's quickly replaced by soft clicks of boots against metal. I poke my head around the corner, watching as she climbs up the fire escape. I slide forward, grabbing a hold of the latter before it slides back into place.
I don't know why I feel the need to stay hidden as I watch her slide open a window and crawl in. Well, I kind of know. I don't know if it's best for me to just pop back into her life. Maybe she has a boyfriend or a husband. Maybe she has a whole family. If she has settled in life, what gives me the right to tear that up?
I know it's selfish of me to hope her life ended when I died. What kind of shitty person hopes that? Me. I hope for that. Given, I also hope she's had a fulfilling life since my passing, I just hope it wasn't with another man.
As I climb up the fire exit, ideas of how to kill Y/N's imaginary boyfriend circle my head. Maybe Bruce is right, maybe I am crazy. I try my best to be silent as I follow Y/N's path. Once I'm on her floor level, I push myself against the brick wall, not wanting to startle her. Well, I'm doing it mostly to catch a breather and prepare for the worst.
It takes a second, but once my courage is built up, I move, looking into her window, only to be met with a gun barrel in my face. "What the fuck Y/N?!" I yell, raising my hands in a sign of surrender. It would be pretty shitty to come back to life just for my girlfriend - ex-girlfriend? - to blow my head off.
My eyes scan over her maskless face, taking in her bright eyes, her cheekbones, and her lips. God her lips. It might just be the horn-dog in me, but I've missed her kissing me the most. Well... I can think of other parts of her I missed more. Off-topic, very off-topic thoughts. My... Y/N is holding a gun to my face and my identity is still very much hidden in my helmet. I need to stay on topic.
"Who the fuck are you?" She yells, her finger featherily light on the trigger. Her body shifts some, causing a small clinking sound.
My eyes drop down to her neck, the direction the sound came from. Wrapped around her neck and resting on her chest is a black chain with two rings strung on it. One is a basic black ring, with a red band through it. Even from here, I can make out the words on it. Curved on the inner side of the band are the words 'Come home to me' with Y/N's name next to it.
The other band is a copy of the first but with a small ruby held in the middle. 'Be safe for me' is curved into this one, my name next to the wording. It's the first thing I ever bought Y/N. I bought it when we were thirteen, the cheesy words curved into them being enough to back that up. It took three weeks of pickpocketing to afford, but it was worth every penny.
"Who. The fuck. Are you?" Y/N repeats, empathizing her words more.
     "Um... Jason... Todd..."
Y/N's face shifts to confusion and then anger. "Last time I checked, Jason Todd is buried in a box in the Gotham Graveyard. So, try again asshole."
"Bruce buried me in the fucking public graveyard? Didn't even cross his mind to bury me in the Wayne Graveyard? What the fuck?" I say before I can stop myself.
"What is going on?" Y/N murmurs, shaking her head some as her eyes widen. "Go... go away murderer," she says, pointing the gun down before slamming the window shut.
Murderer? Like she wasn't just fighting with Bruce over her wanting to murder someone. I stand still, hands still in the air as I watch Y/N march around her apartment, panic-cleaning as she talks to herself. Her head keeps shifting around like she's trying to erase what just happened. Hopefully, this isn't how she would react if a different murderer appeared outside her window.
Once my head is on straight again, I push the window open, the wood of it yelling in discomfort as it moves. Y/N keeps pacing around, muttering to herself about crazy people and leaving Gotham. I carefully crawl in, making sure not to knock into anything.
I let myself rest against the windowsill, watching her pace around the small apartment. How has she lived this long if this is her response to a stalker? Maybe I caused her a mental breakdown.
A small smile rests on my face as I tug off my helmet and set it on the side table placed next to the window. It's littered with loose change and bullets. Good to see she still has a careless air to her. I always found it cute when we were younger. It made me feel needed, knowing she wouldn't pay attention to the small details even if it would make her life easier. I liked doing those things for her, I like her needing me to do those small things, even if it's not things that need to be done.
I snap my mask off as well, placing it next to my helmet. Y/N continues to mutter and pace, occasionally throwing a phrase or two at me as she works her thoughts out. I look around her space. There's not much of it, which I'm not surprised about. It is an apartment in Gotham after all. Her living space is filled with bookcases, all of them filled to the seams with books and movies. There's a big, overstuffed couch across from a pricey television, probably an apology gift from Bruce. He's good at replacing emotions with money, which is easy to do when you have enough for ten lifetimes.
Y/N's kitchen is littered with recipe books, loose papers, random dishes, and spices all over the counters. Her fridge is littered with pictures and more papers. Her bathroom and bedroom doors are swung open, unsurprisingly. She sucks at closing doors.
Just like Y/N's kitchen, her bathroom counters are littered with makeup. Her bedspread is a mess, but besides that, her room is pretty straight and tidy. Even the nightstand by her bed is item less besides a lone alarm clock. That's not usual for her, maybe Y/N does have a boyfriend. A boyfriend who doesn't mind taking care of the small details for her, just like I used to do.
From here, I can see the edge of a small table, a deep green cloth drooping off of it, that's tucked into a corner of her room. I let my curiosity get the better of me and push myself off the windowsill, making sure to close it behind me or else it'll be left open for the next two to three weeks.
I walk into the room, expecting a hidden mess, but there's none to be found. I let my gaze settle on the mystery table that's not so much a mystery anymore.
In the middle of the table is a picture of me. Well, a picture of us. It's from our first date night at the manor. I'm stretched out on the couch, my head in Y/N's lap and her hands tangled in my hair as we both smile at the camera.
On either side of the picture is a candle; A white one for peace and a pink one for love. Each is held in a gold candle holder. In front of the picture is a few things. One is a bowl of Skittles, my favorite candy. To the left is a small, blue, empty bowl, and to the right is a full, red bowl.
In the full bowl is the jewelry I use to wear; my dog tags Bruce gave me, the pocket watch I got from Alfred, the matching Robin bracelet from Dick, and my family cross I got from my mother.
"So... you are alive," Y/N says, pulling my attention from the altar to her, standing in the doorway. She keeps shifting her weight and her fingers tap against the wood. It would only be more obvious that she's nervous if the word was stamped onto her forehead.
"So, you made me an altar," I tease, trying to help Y/N calm down and loosen up some.
"Of course, I made you an altar, Jay. You're Hispanic, it's part of your culture. Just because Bruce won't respect it doesn't mean I won't," Her words come out hot and fast, like she's embarrassed that I saw her memorial of me.  "Dumb, stupid, ginger ass, Hispanic boy," she mumbles, walking into the room.
"Not my fault a Hispanic woman fell in love with an Irish man," I shoot back, watching as she slides onto her bed, her eyes looking everywhere but me.
"I know," she mutters, lying back on her bed. "So... you must have one hell of a story to tell me."
————————————
Ever since my lap around the Lazarus pit, it's been weird waking up. Mostly because my body doesn't remember it's alive yet, and partly because my subconscious has the same feeling, which means it takes a second to remember to breathe in the morning.
Just like every morning, it takes me a second to remember how to breathe along with taking some time to remember I'm not in a box in the ground. I can feel pressure on my chest. It isn't dirt, it's just my mind playing tricks on me. Just a PTSD attack. It'll clear up any second now.
Except, it doesn't clear up. I debate on whether I should open my eyes or not. Sometimes opening my eyes makes the attack worse. I don't want to take that chance. There's nothing on my chest, I'm fine. I repeat the thought as I slide my head over my chest. Instead of coming in contact with myself, my fingers slide into a bundle of hair. Well, that's not dirt but the sure as shit is something or someone on top of me.
I slowly open my eyes, being met with the sight of Y/N curled up on top of me. I can feel the smile crossing my face as I look down at her. She looks so peaceful, fast asleep, softy breathing as she clings to me. I've missed these peaceful moments with Y/N. Most days memories like these were the only thing keeping me going.
I shift a bit, peaking at the alarm clock on her nightstand; Five sixteen. I didn't plan on spending the night, but there was a lot to talk about, and a lot of time to make up for. Most of the time was spent with me explaining everything from the past four years, my death, the Lazarus pit, my service in the League of Assassins, my reappearance in Gotham, and the newly forming hatred between Bruce and me.
I guess we ended up falling asleep on accident, especially since my boots are still on. That, and Y/N is still in her spandex suit.
I shift again, flexing my arm and fingers to try and shake the static feeling out of the arm Y/N's head is on. Despite my efforts to not wake her, Y/N stirs, shifting around on top of me. She whines a bit, her body scooting down my body as she moves. It feels nice having her weight on me, feeling her body heat crashing into me. "Good morning," I whisper, rubbing my hand through her hair.
"Good morning," She whispers back, pressing a sloppy kiss into my chest. It's sweet, but I wish my shirt was off, I wish I could feel her lips against my bare skin. "You're alive," she adds, sleep still very evident in her voice.
"I'm alive," I repeat, wrapping my free hand around her back. I pull her up my body, her legs squeezing my sides as her head tucks into my neck. I struggle with being alive again, a lot. It's hard dealing with Bruce. It was hard being in debt to Ra's Al Ghul. Despite that all, in this very moment, it's so worth being alive.
I flip us over, Y/N's hold still strong on me as I do so. I prop myself up with my knee, not wanting to crush her under me. "I missed you so much," I murmur, sliding my hands under her shirt, the spandex clinging to both of us now.
"I missed you too," Y/N answers, sliding her hands into my hair, her fingers twirling the strands around themselves. I push her shirt up, laying kisses across the newly exposed skin. It's been so long since I've seen her, smelt her, touched her. After four long years of nothing but my thoughts of her, I can finally play out all my fantasies. I mean, there's no better way to start the day than with a bang.
Soft mewls fall from her, only encouraging me more. If I had my way, I would keep her locked away in this apartment. Just her and me, and my longing for her. Nothing but her begging for me and me answering her every beck and call.
"Y/N?" I hum against the skin of her stomach. She tugs softly on my hair, letting me know she's listening. "We're going to stay right here, all week. Maybe even two weeks."
     "I... I can't. I have work."
"Not anymore. You're not leaving this apartment until we play out every last thought I've had of you. All four years' worth." Her legs tighten around me, an easy sign of her getting needy, an easy sign of me getting my way. I smirk to myself, dipping my hands down to her thighs. "After all, making you feel good is the least I could do after letting Bruce take me from you." Y/N lets out a breathy moan, letting me know I won.

May the best hero win!
[Dick Grayson x GN!Reader x Jason Todd]
Tumblr media
Plot: what happens when two batboys have a crush on the same person? Chaos. Petty Chaos.
Note: more storyline based on my OC that I'm too nervous to share with. The reader has a hero name called 'incognito'
Tumblr media
It was supposed to be a regular night. A typical run down of the latest mission in Gotham. But we are talking about the Wayne Family here, or should I say the batfamily, there is nothing 'normal' or 'typical' about them.
Instead of going to collect the Intel from their reliable source, like they are supposed to do, Nightwing(Dick) and Red Hood(Jason) are fighting each other on top of a rooftop. With Red Robin(Tim), the signal(Duke), Spoiler(Steph), and Robin(Damian) watching them from another rooftop and taking bets on who will win the fight. While the black bat(Cass) goes off and completes the mission.
How did we get to these events? Well, things first started earlier in the night. Batman contacted the members of his family to gather inside the Batcave for their briefing before patrol, "we have received Intel earlier in the month that shipment of a new drug is coming to Gotham in the coming week." Batman stated while pulling up the required information on the back computer.
"A new drug?" Nightwing asked, "I ain't heard anything about no new drug." Red hood said with a mad tone, his regular tone. "That's because it's technically not new." Red Robin pulled up articles and reports from his wrist computer to the bat computer for everyone to see. "It's originally a chemical used in medicine but somebody decided to use it as a base for a new drug. There have been huge reports of it in Chicago, Detroit, and Baltimore. Recently, there's been rumors of it spreading to Gotham and now it's have been confirmed."
"The problem now is we don't know where the shipments is being dropped off." Batman said, changing the info on the screen to a photo of three men. "That has only been shared privately with these men only. But we have a double agent that was able to get the location for us and going to give it to us at the usual location on top of the Lincoln bank building. " He concluded his small speech with his back to the group because he doesn't want to see their faces of annoyance from them.
"The agent is . . . . Incognito. " "UUGGGGHHHH!"
Now hearing those groans you would think that they hate or can't stand the person called 'incognito'. Quite the contrary, they love them and consider them as an extended family member. What actually causes those groans were the two guys that like incognito some much more than everyone else. So much they turned it into a petty competition.
"I'll go" "I'll go"
They both turned toward each other when hearing each other voices and glare at each other. Those glares were signs to everyone around them that this was going to all night. Especially when Duke uttered the words "not this again."
"Don't you have to be bludhaven right now? Dick. " "Don't worry about that, Jay. I settled things before coming over. What about you, huh? Shouldn't you be covering crime alley or hanging out with the outlaws?" Dick smirks at his brother's poor attempt at jabs. "Just got done with a mission, dick head. " "Then you must be tired. I'll do this little info collecting-" Jason interrupted dick with a finger shoved in his face. " Don't give me that crap. You talked to them last time. Im going this time!" " Come on Jason. I'm just looking out for you. You don't think straight when you're around them." "Better than you. At least I think with my brain here" He points at his head, "and not the one down here." Jason grabbed his private part in a vulgar manner, which got a reaction out of dick. Pissed off. He was about to retort back but he was stopped by hearing Bruce scream at them both, "Enough! " which grabbed their attention. Jason still grabbing his. . . Little hood.
"Both of you going to the meeting point, then. Whoever gets there first can collect the information. I don't care who does it, just go!" Bruce yelled at them. They both stood there for awhile before Jason run towards his motorcycle screaming 'I'm getting there first!' With Dick on his tail also screaming, 'No you won't. '
~~☆~~
That's how we got to where we started. They raced thru the city using their personal own shortcuts until they bump into each other on top of an apartment building. Both felt they won't get their private moment they wanted with the double agent of their dreams, they decided to fight the other. First one down on their back, wins.
At first simple sparring quickly turns into a full-on brawl. Going at each other for at least an hour. Neither holding back on the other. While throw petty insults at each other too.
"Dickhead"
"Blowhard"
"Man slut"
"Zombie"
They took so long on this fight the other kids stop their patrol to watch and place bets. Jason was getting the winning votes.
It looks like the fight could go on forever since neither one looks like stopping anytime soon but a certain stop them in their tracks.
"Got it." They both turns towards the voice to see black bat with a piece of paper in her hand. "Got what exactly? " Dick asked with his hand on Jason's jacket, tight in his fist. "The location. It's the docks." She jump away from the two and probably back to the big bat. Everyone else follows her, forgetting the other two men.
Hearing they lose their chance, they let each other go and awkwardly stand beside each other. Their stupid fight got in the way. They missed the person who stole their affection. All because of their petty fighting. Hopefully this would be a lesson for them both to stop this -
"First one back, can meet them on the next meet up"
"You're on. Don't blame me when you lose. "
*sigh* nevermind. They're hopeless
Tumblr media
Sorry if they are ooc here. I hope to improve my skills soon.
I'm also might do a part two if you guys like it enough.
That's all I got. Bye for now ( ≧∀≦)ノ

HAPPY HALLOWEEN; J. VALESKA
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
JEROME VALESKA X F!READER
WARNINGS: this is sort of rushed since i really wanted to get a jerome halloween fic out and my writers block has not relented 😭 so i apologize for how bad this is!! also, this is kind of a random thing i added (though, it’s not really an important detail) bruce is already batman in this!
WC: 3296
A/N: you guys know i had to make a halloween jerome fic - i had s4 jerome in mind for this btw! - jerome’s a cutie in this tbh (when is he not)
SUMMARY: On Halloween night, Jerome decided to surprise his girl and take her to two special places in Gotham!
-
"I don't think this is a good idea, Jerome." Your eyes searched the area as goosebumps filled your skin. You weren't sure if it was the weather that caused the chill or something else.
"Oh, c'mon! Loosen up, doll. This is gonna be great!" His loud, cheery voice echoed throughout the whole woods, making birds that were hiding in trees fly away. The sound of their wings flapping joined in with the reverberation of Jerome's tone, adding to the eeriness of the situation.
Twigs snapped under your shoes, breaking the utter silence of the night. Jerome thought that, since it was Halloween, it was a good idea to spend some time in a cemetery. Though you weren't exactly opposed to the idea at first, the ginger decided to propose that you go at night instead. You knew you had nothing to be afraid of, given if anyone were to come by and they were to see Jerome Valeska, you were positive they would run away screaming; damn the spirits that supposedly haunted the area.
Jerome walked carelessly through the grounds, never once looking down to see where his feet were heading. That backfired once his foot fell into a whole in the dirt. Before you could help him or ask if he was okay, a loud boisterous laugh sounded from the man. The same sound caused crows to chirp and crickets to silence.
"Watch out, toots, something might come up and grab ya!" Jerome giggled and reached out for you once he got his foot free. His arms wrapped around you from behind, caging you into his body. A quiet laugh resonated from you as his head dug into your neck and his gloved fingers started to tickle your sides. As you started to protest and run from his hold, he makes sure not to let go.
Jerome loved to tease you in any shape or form. It was one way that always left him entertained, which was a hard task for someone to do. Though Jerome would never admit it, you were never boring. And everyone knows Jerome hates boring. He found a deep sense of comfort in you. Whether it was because of the way you loved him and held him, or because you genuinely cared for him. It wasn't something he was ever given, so it was new to him. It still felt foreign to him when he felt an overwhelming sense of admiration for you. It was like something else took over his body and added this weird soft side to him. A part of him hated that he ever acknowledged that side, but the other part enjoyed it. It was something that he could get used to.
"Did you hear that?" Jerome abruptly stopped and whispered in your ear. His grip never let up as his breath hit against you. You paused and the hair raised on your body at his words. As you tried to listen for anything, your ears didn't pick up any noise. "Kidding! I got you!" He laughed noisily and backed away from you to animatedly slap his knee. You scoffed and started to walk forward, trying your best to make sure you could see where you were going. "You should'a seen your face, doll!" His cackle continued but faded shortly after. Loud and fast footsteps were heard behind you once the man realized you were heading off without him. "Hey, wait for me!"
The sky was pitch black as it reached midnight. The moon was full and was shining down, almost perfectly, on the two of you. There were a couple of lights surrounding the cemetery, lighting it up just barely. A small layer of fog creeped up and sat in the air, adding to your rough field of vision. It was the ideal night for Halloween. You were positive that if you guys were closer to the road and neighborhood, you'd hear the chatter of kids wandering around, trick or treating. But you couldn't. It was dead silent. The graveyard was ways away from the commotion, the only noise being heard were your voices and the sound of leaves and branches being crushed under your feet.
"Why are we here, J?" You've been wanting to ask since he proposed the idea because you knew there was always something else he had planned. A smile spreads across his face, adding to the scars and making them look longer. The sight would've been jarring to anyone else, but you've always liked his smile. It has character and even if you didn't want to admit it, it was really attractive.
"Just wanted to go out for a walk with my girl! Is that so wrong?" His smile widens as he looks over at you, a playful tone evident in his voice. You breathe out a puff of air in response, knowing that you weren't going to get a genuine answer. He giggles at your annoyance and keeps walking, just a step or two ahead of you. "Patience, Y/N." He acts as if he's scolding you, looking back at you with a serious face. It makes your expression soften and a small smile creep on your lips. He hums at your response, turning back around with a smug grin.
Jerome's outfit consisted of a white straitjacket and matching pants, although his arms weren't tied together in the fabric. When you had saw him in it, you had originally thought that it was his Halloween costume, but then you remembered that it was just Jerome. It made him stick out like a sore thumb in the dark, empty woods. If anyone were to walk by, the first thing that would catch their attention would be him. Although, that would probably happen anyway.
"Almost there, dolly." The rasp in Jerome's voice was clear as he spoke quietly. You stood partially behind him, his back and a few headstones in your field of vision. You've debated on reaching out for his hand as the night grew colder, realizing that you hadn't brought a heavy enough coat to warm yourself up with. You pushed back any hesitant thoughts as you moved your hand out to grab on to his. His palms were just as cold, maybe even colder than yours, but it brought you a sense of comfort either way.
Jerome tensed up at first, not expecting the sudden touch. This was another thing he had to get used to, the feeling of someone's hand in his, or the touch of you that isn't going to make him flinch. He knew you would never do anything to him, and he's never actually voiced his thoughts before, but there's always that thought that lingers in the back of his head that reminds him of his mother. How she used to hurt him, and he'll never forget that. And although he hates to even give her an ounce of his attention, he'll always be grateful that he was the one that killed her.
"And..." His voice startles you as it cuts through the silence. "Tada!" His smile is as wide as ever as he stares forward. You follow his line of sight and move next to him, looking straight ahead of you. There was a small blanket lying on the ground with a few headstones guarding it. A pumpkin bucket - that seemed to be a trick or treater's basket - sat on top with a lone lantern sitting diagonal from it. You stood in shock at the sight before you, your hand subconsciously squeezing his tighter.
"Jerome, this is..." Before you could even think of your next words, he cut you off.
"I had those clowns grab some stuff for me," Jerome starts walking again, dragging you behind him. He was referring to the remainders of his cult, and to be honest, you weren't sure if you wanted to know how they got that candy. "Since I can't go trick or treating because people would not give me any candy," he says it like he's offended, and it makes you smile at his childish tone. His arms fly out and they point to the pumpkin that held the candy inside. "Why not steal some?" He smiles and sits down on the blanket, taking you with him.
“This is really nice, J.” You smile and look at him. You knew you were teasing him with the way he rolled his eyes as a reply.
“Don’t get all sappy on me, doll.” He grumbles and reaches forward to grab the basket. His big hands grip the object and then flips it over, giggling as each piece of candy fell onto the blanket. His fingers wiggle as he looks them over, contemplating on which one to eat first. He reaches out for some Skittles and tears the top open and throws his head back, pouring all of the little candies in his mouth.
You watch him as he goes back and forth between chocolate bars and gummies, some times swallowing the food or making a disgusted face and tossing the packaging.
You get pulled out of your daydream when you hear him call your name. “C’mere, doll,” Jerome giggles and looks over at you. He had a gummy worm in his mouth, one side wedged between his lips, and the other waiting to be eaten. He laughs as best as he could with the snack in his mouth and leans forward, getting closer to you. A soft laugh escapes your lips as you lean forward and bite off the opposite side of the gummy. As you swallow the snack, Jerome’s hand moves to the back of your head and steadies you. Suddenly, he moves forward and pressed his lips against yours, immediately pushing his tongue past your lips.
“Mm, you taste like candy.” He giggles softly and moves his hand down to your chin, dragging your lip down before letting it go again.
After a half hour or so of eating and exchanging candy, Jerome abruptly stood up and grabbed your hand, forcefully bringing you up with him. “Next stop!” He yells excitedly, quickly moving forward and walking out of the cemetery, leaving all of the stuff behind. As usual, you didn’t know where he was taking you. You should have been used to his impulsive decisions, but you’d be lying if you said you weren’t surprised each time.
Once you both make your way out of the eery, silent graveyard, loud voices and music fill the air. Little kids and their parents, or teens with friends crowd the streets, the sounds of their conversations echoing through the neighborhood. Jerome walks with you down the sidewalk with a wide smile on his face, subconsciously swinging your hand with his.
As much as Jerome couldn’t care less about others, he always had a good time on Halloween. He never got to dress up and trick or treat when he was younger, part of it being his mother’s choice and the other involving the constant moving with the Circus. The Valeska’s never had any proper holidays, or frankly, childhood. You had to show Jerome a lot of traditions that were popular surrounding certain holidays, or even involving him in some of yours. The man looked like a kid on Christmas morning every time you’d share something new with him. When you had told him, a few years ago, that people got to get free candy - not from stealing - and dress up as anything they wanted to be, it was almost like you told him the answer to his life’s questions.
When someone would look up and realize they passed Jerome Valeska, they would either stand in shock or run. Both of them amused the maniac as he cackled at the reactions of others. The loud sound stopped suddenly as he put his foot down, making you still with him. “Is that me?” You look up at him and follow his line of vision. Your furrowed brow loosens up at his question once you realize what he was looking at. A kid, maybe 17 or 18 was walking around with a couple friends, fake staples aligning around his face. A white and black striped shirt covered his top half as his mismatched pants correlated. A smile was on his face as poorly drawn lines brought it out.
A loud laugh sounded from Jerome. He doubled over and squeezed your hand tight in the process, unknowingly catching everyone’s attention. Though you were sure that was his idea. Once he leaned back up to his full height, he wipes a fake tear from his eye with a huge smile on his face. “Oh, doll, that was amazing!” He giggles again, looking down at you before moving his gaze back towards the street.
Once families and others realized who they were walking amongst, some screamed and others gasped as they ran from him. If possible, his smile widened even more. Jerome began walking again, making sure to pull you with him. He hums an unknown song as he drags you in front of him and twirls you twice, bringing you close to him and then back out. It wasn’t uncommon for Jerome to pull these things, occasionally taking time (usually at night) to dance with you. You weren’t too sure why he started this, but you weren’t upset about it. It felt comforting to be in that vulnerable state with him. It made you feel like he truly did love and care for you, even if it was hard for him to communicate that.
“Almost there, babydoll.” His raspy voice cut you out of your memories and you looked up at him and flashed him a smile. His gloved hand never let go of yours as he swung them back and forth lightly, still randomly spinning you when he see fit.
“And..” he smiles and spins you once more before taking you in his arms and dipping you. “Fin!” Jerome lifts you back up and twirls you to look forward as he circles around you to stand in front of you. His right arm stretches out behind him as he points while staring down at you with a grin.
Haly’s Circus is in town.
The lights illuminated everything in a 3-mile radius, glaring up into the dark sky. The sight was beautiful, even over the large wall that separated the attraction from the outside.
“C’mon, let’s go inside!” He grabs your hand and runs for the entrance. You have no choice but to follow, but you couldn’t say that you would’ve protested. “Even better than I remember…” Jerome’s voice was smaller, quieter than usual. His eyes roamed the area, taking in the festive decorations, rides, foods and tents. You realized that Jerome was referring to that one night over a year ago when he had all of his cult over at Haly’s.
Always the Ringleader.
The scene truly was mesmerizing. The original lights were switched out with orange and black, matching the iconic Halloween colors. Other stands were decorated with scary toys and bat plushies, while food booths sold drinks served in cauldrons and pieces of pizza stuffed in tiny coffins.
Neither of you knew who had cleaned this place up since that day, but you were grateful that it was. Haly’s was always a pretty setting in a place like Gotham. There truly wasn’t much to see in a city like this, so having a Circus around was always entertaining. Especially if there was a certain clown that came from it…
Jerome gasps loudly, “Look, doll! They still have my game!” He smiles and runs for it as you follow him. He stood in front of a stand that held several darts that you had to pop balloons with in order to win a prize. The man behind the counter was about to grumble something inaudibly, before he looked up and jumped at the sight of the psychopath in front of him. “Heya, me and my dolly want some darts.” Jerome raises his eyebrows and reaches his hand out, putting out his palm. The man nods swiftly, quickly moving forward to grab them and hand them to the ginger. Jerome sighs contently and smiles, opening and closing his mouth.
As he steadies his dart and pulls it back, he pauses. “Oh, how rude of me,” he starts, playfully. “Ladies first.” His voice went back to normal as the rasp came back. He hands the thin dart to you and moves behind you. You steady your grip and squint one of your eyes to try and get a better view. Jerome was close behind you as you focused, or rather, tried to focus. His close proximity always made you feel dizzy, an affect that he caused that always made him laugh. “Nervous, baby?” He leans down and whispers in your ear, causing goosebumps to raise on your skin. A quiet, sinister laugh sounded in your ear in response.
Before you could think any more, you tossed the dart and a loud pop was heard throughout the area. “Well, would’ja look at that!” Jerome smiles and looks over at the popped balloon. “My girl’s got some precision after all.” He teases and pokes you, silently telling you to move out of his way. You follow his unspoken command and move to his side. His left eye closes as he focuses on his target, his tongue moving to rest on his lower lip in concentration. As he takes in a sharp breath, he throws the dart forward and hits the man directly between his eyebrows. “Ha! Still got it!” He cackles noisily, bending back slightly to revel in his comedic act.
Once he gathered himself again, Jerome quickly jumps over the counter and grabs the biggest prize. With an immense smile on his face, he turns back to you and climbs back over the surface. A stuffed animal bat, just a little bigger than the size of Jerome’s palm, was handed to you.
“For M’Lady.” He adds a unique accent to his words, a cheesy grin taking over his lips. He bows as he gives it to you, as if you were a Queen and he was your butler.
“What a gentleman.” You tease, a joyous smile on your face as well. The fabric was soft, seeming to be new. It looked like something you’d see in a cartoon or something a kid would draw, but it was cute. To think that Jerome Valeska stole this for you was more endearing than you care to admit.
“Always am.” Jerome smirks and winks at you, taking your hand in his again. “Besides, once Batsy decides to crash this party, we’ll have that to remember this night.” Subconsciously he squeezes your palm, either the adrenaline to pick a fight with Batman pumping through his veins or the thought of spending more of his life with you causing reality to set in. For once, you were more than positive it was the latter.
“Oooo, look what we have here!” As Jerome turns a corner, a large wall constructs your view. The sign read, “Hall of Mirrors.” Pretty self explanatory. “Why don’t we go have some fun, hm?” He giggles and takes a glance back at you. Something catches his eye behind you as a devilish laugh escapes his lips. You turn and see a dark figure standing several feet away from you. Batman. “Oh, we’ll definitely be having some fun now.” Jerome laughs loudly, the sound seeming to be echoing throughout Gotham.
He tightens his hold on your hand as he runs for the maze, your bat plushie never falling from your grip. You send the masked man a smile and wave the bat at him, almost like you were mocking him.
A great way to end Halloween.

"You saved me."
Summary: (y/n) and Clark have an argument but briefly after, something terrifying happens nearly snatching away (y/n)'s life but Clark is there to save her.
Word count: 1.7K
Warnings: kissing, danger, death, crying, arguments
-
“Batman saves the day again,” I whisper to myself as I look at the front page title for my article. With a smile, I stand up, gripping the tablet to show my boss. I knock on the door and walk in once I’m summoned.
“I’m done.” I pass the tablet over to Mr White. “What do you think?” I ask and watch his eyes scan over the title and the article.
He sighs before lifting his glasses onto his head and my face drops slightly. “You can publish it.” He says reluctantly, he doesn’t tend to like pieces that are so opinionated but he often makes exceptions for me. I take the tablet off of him and head out of the door. “Maybe tone it down next time though.” I nod even though we both know that I won’t.
I get the article published in the following day’s Daily Planet paper.
The next day I see my article on the front page accompanied by a heroic picture of Batman, I smile, content with my work and head home.
I push open the door to my shared apartment and kick off my shoes and hang up my coat. I check the time and decide to start cooking some dinner as Clark should be home in an hour or two.
“Honey, I’m home.” I hear Clark yell from the door in a tired tone.
“I’m in the kitchen!” I yell back and hear his heavy footsteps echo through the house. I keep stirring the food and I feel his large hands on my shoulder.
“Hey,” I say quietly as he places a soft kiss on my cheek.
“Hi, how was your day?” He asks wrapping his arms around me.
“Good, my article got on the front page,” I say happily.
“Wow, what was the article about?” He says resting his chest against my back.
“The title was: Batman saves the day again!” I say turning around dramatically with a smile but I watch his smile falter.
“Batman saves the day again…” He mutters quietly and I nod. “(y/n) you know how I feel about him.” He says.
“Are you not proud of me? I got the front page.” I say slightly sad that he isn’t as happy as me.
“That’s great but do you have to write about him all the time?” He asks tiredly.
“I don’t write about him all the time!” I say getting annoyed. “And you can’t control what I write!” I say, brows furrowed.
“I don’t want to dictate your writing but I don’t like when you write about him and you know that!” He says withdrawing from me.
“I don’t understand why you care so much whether I write about him! You should be happy for me!” I say louder but not shouting.
This turns into a full-blown argument, shouting and all and it lasts for seemingly hours although I know it can’t have been more than half an hour before I stormed off. Dinner is abandoned and Clark sleeps on the couch.
Hot tears burn my eyes as I keep flipping over my pillow and turning around, Clark not being next to me is making it hard to sleep. Eventually, morning arrives and I leave early before Clark even wakes up. Even though it’s early I head to work, only a few people get to the building this early, mainly just cleaners. Clark works in the same building but on a different floor, the one just above my floor, the one just below the roof.
I spend the day not doing much and trying to avoid my coworkers. Walking around the office, all that’s displayed is the current Daily Planet paper, the issue with my front page article. It usually fills me with pride to see my articles on the front page at the office but today it just fills me with anger. Every time I walk past one of the newspaper stands I’m reminded of our argument last night.
I sit back down at my desk, my hands threading in my hair, frustrated. Squeezing my eyes shut I blink back small tears as I stare at the screen in front of me.
As I look at the endless lines of text, I feel vibrations ripple through the building. They’re relatively small but definitely there so I stand up and look around at my other confused co-workers.
I push my chair out of the way and walk towards the windows where everyone’s standing. After a few seconds of shock, everyone starts screaming and running out of the building. I stand still staring at the destruction of our city and almost everybody else is leaving the building. Mr White grabs my arm and pulls me out the door with him and down the stairs.
“We’ve got to go!” He yells pulling me down the stairs and I go with him.
“Wait!” I yell and stop. “Clark’s up there!” I yell and pry my arm from his hand, darting up the stairs.
“(y/n)! Stop!” He yells but I keep running up the stairs.
I make it up to the next floor and people just keep pushing past me. “Clark!” I yell, worried. “Clark!” I turn to one of the people running out. “Have you seen Clark?” I ask rushed and my answer is a shake of the head.
I ask the people who rush out the door but no one’s seen him. Pushing through the last few people I run through the floor looking for him, calling his name.
“Clark? Clark?” I yell, running down the corridors, and poking my head into each of the offices.
Seeing he’s not on this floor I head up to the next one but it’s the roof. I feel the wind through my hair as I push open the door.
“Clark!” I yell out from the top of the building. Walking away from the door it slams behind me and locks. I grab onto the handle and pull and pull but it doesn’t budge so I turn away from it and take a deep breath.
“Clark!” I cup my hands around my mouth and shout out across the building with no response. “Clark? Are you up here?” I say looking around, the vibrations getting stronger and harsher. I try to walk further but I’m thrown to the ground as an especially strong vibration ripples underfoot.
I flip my hair out of my face, tucking some of it behind my ear to stop it from blowing in my face as I look around. The buildings in front of us have been absolutely obliterated and the debris is littering the streets. I crawl back towards the door and try the door again, it’s still locked but I try to pry it open, desperately. Worry builds up inside of me as the door doesn’t budge at all and the destruction is closing in.
I turn around to look at the tornado-like carnage nearing and back up against the wall. Wiping tears from my eyes I stare my death in the eyes terrified.
If I die today I’ll never get to see Clark ever again, I’ll never get to apologise and my last memory of him will be the argument. His last memory of me before I died will be our argument. The thoughts bring me to tears and I throw my head back against the door, the danger getting closer and closer.
Finally, just as I’m about to be swallowed up by the darkness I’m lifted into the air. Choking on my tears I feel a pair of arms around my waist and I hear a quiet voice in my ear.
“You’re okay. You’re okay.” I hear the voice says as I cling on for dear life.
“Clark?” I whisper quietly, looking up at him. “Oh my god,” I say with a sigh of relief.
He flies us away from the wreckage and my tears start to dry up as I’m away from the danger. Clark lands on the ground and he places me down in front of him seconds afterwards.
I press myself against his torso, pulling him closer to me desperately. He does the same, wrapping his arms around me as I rest my head on his chest.
“You saved my life. Thank you.” I say quietly.
“You don’t need to thank me…” He says quietly.
“I’m so sorry,” I say feeling the tears in my eyes again.
“For what?” He asks softly knowing that I’m still shaken up.
“I’m sorry for writing that article. I know you don’t like him and I shouldn’t have-” He cuts me off.
“No, I’m sorry, you should be able to write what you like.” He says and I lift my head from his chest.
He places his finger under my chin and lifts my head closer to his. Leaning in, he presses his lips against mine, his thumb caressing my cheek, wiping away the remnants of my tears. I kiss him passionately, pouring all of my emotions into it. Tangling my hand into his gelled hair, I tease the curls out as he pulls me closer, his arm around my neck. I open my eyes and pull away slowly, placing my forehead against his.
“I love you,” I say softly looking into his blue eyes, only adoration and love painted on my face.
“I love you too. I’m so glad you’re okay.” He says sincerely and I trace the ‘S’ on his outfit.
“Thanks to you,” I say before smashing my lips against his again, this time more ferociously and he matches the emotion and passion. I stroke my hand against his clean-shaven face and I reach around playing with the tame curls. He bites at my lip as I open my mouth allowing him entrance. He rubs his hand up and down my back, drawing different shapes, it’s a soothing feeling. Looking to the side I notice Mr White and some others from the office who have escaped the terror in the city so I pull away, embarrassed at the very public display of affection.
He chases my lips again but I bow my head away and chuckle.
“Clark,” I say quietly indicating to the on-lookers with my eyes. He follows my eyes and then turns back to me.
“I don’t care.” He says before recapturing my lips. The warmth blossoms on my lips and the feeling of his lips on mine is the best feeling I can think of.

Think of me fondly
Batman unburied Riddler X Reader
Batman's sidekick find themself spilling like a dam in front of the Riddler.
Just a lil drabble, sitting in my drafts for far too long.
Batman is going to kill me.
You re-emerge from Gotham river with a gasp and an unconscious cane-twirling, riddle-loving crook in your arms. Pulling yourself into the threshold of the docks along with the man, you felt a shiver hit your skin... That's when you realised you've also lost your mask from the escape.
He's going to really kill me...
After disobeying him and running after the Riddler alone, whilst an ongoing shoot out with ricocheting bullets and a crowd of goons, you have now find yourself fucked. Not following orders from Batman is one thing, but not following orders from Batman when he's really angry? It gave out corporal disciplinary actions from parents vibes, you might as well be dead to him after this. It felt dumb, because you were no longer a child.
You were already under scrutiny after breaking a goon's collarbone that one night. You didn't mean to, it was just that he pointed and shot at Batman, what other choice did you have? Not only that, you were dosed with the fear toxin prior to that encounter.
The antidote did its work to pull you out of the hallucinations induced by the Scarecrow's recent concoction, but it left a dent in your mind. The things you've seen during those suffocating moments, you remember wanting to take a plunge at the building you were on.
All this cape-twirling, cable-swinging, building-jumpings, crime-fightings... Its effect on the body and mind you see in Bruce, you were scared he was going to die and you wouldn't be able to stop it. You didn't have to break the lackey's collarbone when he shot at Bruce, but you were scared that he would hit him, kill him.
Huh... Now you see why Alfred insists you take psychological evaluation. Maybe you aren't in stable state of mind to be doing this right now.
In your arms is an unconscious Edward Nygma, whom you have dove in an active bullet crossfire in between his men in green, the police and Penguin's men, who have held him captive for double-crossing them... Something Batman had barked at you not to do and yet you did, hence why you're a dripping mess and in possession of a Riddleman.
"Hey," you pat Riddler's cheek to wake him up. You pat him again. Nope, not even a twitch. You repeat the process, barely holding back the smack that had his eyes shooting up.
"OW!" He whines, rubbing his reddened cheek. "What the hell is that for?!"
"To know if I will be bothered to perform CPR."
The Riddler's jaw-dropped at the audacity. "You know you could have just listened to my breathing, right?" And besides, CPR is an outdated practice.
"Whatever, you're awake. I'm taking you to Commissioner Gordon--" wait... Fuck.
In a desperate attempt to cover up any semblance of your identity, you threw your cape over your head.
I am so dead.
"Oh honey, as if I didn't see your face up close already. Give it up." You can practically hear the eyeroll from his tone. "And besides, I don't even know you. You're not that interesting under the cowl."
Before you can ponder about that, he then asks,
"How old are you, by the way?"
You furrowed your brows at him. Why the hell does he wanna know?
He rolls his eyes after reading your way expression. "I'm not trying to figure out what your identity is, I'm just genuinely curious." You told him. "Huh... Younger than I thought. Tell me, is Batman really employing children?"
"You and I are the same age!" You unintentionally snapped, leading you to slack out of guilt.
God, how would you know if he wouldn't tell on you?
"You wouldn't tell... Would you?" You were fearful to meet his gaze. This aren't the types of questions you can just ask, it felt humiliating more than ever. It was obvious that--
"No. That wouldn't be as interesting. In fact, I find it insulting that your idiocy had outed you when I could have found it out myself, now that would be satisfaction at its finest-- but it wouldn't particularly benefit me, these games aren't so exciting anymore when the mystique of the mask is lifted and revealed...." He continues on and on about it and all you could do was to stare at him with squinted eyes. "Besides, it feels anticlimactic to find that the little brat following Batman around isn't as interesting as he is, I mean, no offense but I don't really see your face anywhere, unlike your big papa Bruce Wayne--"
"What?" For the first time, you looked up at him with wide eyes.
Edward laughs at your expression, oh how priceless. You think that he wouldn't have Batman's identity figured out when he was practically everywhere?
"See, this is why I didn't recognise you at all, you are a nobody without the mask, as to Bruce Wayne....."
He goes off the tangent again, as you discreetly reach for a throwing knife in your utility belt. He knows of Bruce's identity, that can't be good. He can very easily do something about that intel that will ruin the Batman... And you can't have that.
".... Now it wouldn't be fun if the others knew, now would it?"
He wouldn't tell? At all?
His statement had you slowly retracting the blade in your belt, all the while, he continues rambling, which only sounded nothing but gibberish to you. Your own thoughts were racing and you couldn't keep up with them, nor Edward's declarations.
Though, you managed to croak out, "How long have you--?"
"Since the first encounter. It was easy, really. Especially when you have abundance of time and been reading the same magazine in Arkham." Edward looks over you, finding you stiff and staring a hole to your shoes, figure still dripping from the dive.
What could you possibly thinking, surely you weren't hurt at the fact that he called you a nobody... Right? He's not the type to usually apologize for his bluntness not did he recognise the fact that he was hurtful with his words, but your expression had him feeling sorry for you and he was confused about it. Maybe it's the fact that he sees a person underneath the cowl instead of the obnoxious little tag-along he perceives them to be. He never saw H/N's face flush and eyes dulled and down, the ever-so persistent fist thrower slumped, hugging their knees to their chest like a little kid.
This person (who claims to be his age) who had dove head-first to an active shooting grounds, kidnap him from his kidnappers and swam to get away from it all... Saved his life, he begrudgingly supposes.
"You're not... Sad because I called you a nobody... Right?" It's ridiculous because he has called you worse during regular battles. He has picked up a thing or two from locker room talk during high school.
"No?" You squinted at him. "I've heard worse." And why would he be concerned all the sudden?
"Then what's wrong? Aren't you gonna take me to Commissioner Gordon?"
"I'll... Just stay here for a bit..."
Before Edward can respond, you clipped a handcuff on his wrist and cuffed the other on yours. Just a guarantee he won't escape as you take a break from everything, Edward wasn't pleased at all.
"It's just that... I wish everything would come to a halt for a moment, you know? Everything is so... Fast paced and eventful and it's tiring," you disregard Edward and his complaints whilst he tries to find his way around the handcuffs, tugging and picking at it, as you resign yourself to sigh and stare idly at the rushing waters from the dockyard. "It's... Vigilante life for ya. I live to save lives of others. But sometimes I can't save myself.
"Just yesterday, Batman... I guess you now know him as Bruce, was almost killed if I didn't intervened and because of that, I almost killed someone. Then the day before that, I almost died of overdose from Scarecrow's fear gas and I don't know, it messed me up... Increased some brain chemicals, so I guess I have some sort of imbalance. And just... Everything is so overwhelming."
At this point, Edward had stopped trying to tug his wrist out of the cuff. Instead, he just stares at you with a glare. Jesus fucking damn it, there you are unloading emotional luggage while dripping wet, in a cold, windy night. For once he was surprised with himself in how he can keep his mouth shut for this while. He would have taken over, but he listened somehow. Even when you stopped speaking, he didn't try to fill the silence with some babbling. He noticed how relieved you are to be soaking in some sense of tranquility for once, as you closed your eyes and feel the cold air nip against your wet skin.
He supposes he has gone soft for the Bat's sidekick, the annoying little thing. He liked getting to fight you, how you were quick on your feet, on your wit, how sharp you are. He fucking hates it, but he will admit that you're smart enough to resort to simple means to defeat him and his riddles instead of standing around to listen to his villain monologue. He hates you... But he is also fond of you.
Well fuck, he may be an asshole but he's an asshole with a heart.
"I'm not even supposed to be here right now. Bruce told me to lay low for a while..." So imagine just how much you were piling on against him. "I didn't listen, clearly and now I'm unloading emotional baggage on some guy who saw my face for the first time."
"Gotham's hero, lady's and gentlemen," he dryly remarks. But he supposes not all heroes wear capes, this hero happens to be keeping the lid of their sanity as tight as a jar of pickles, not all of them are models of mental health. Why would anyone take a look at the Batman and his sidekick and go, 'ah yes, these two are definitely sane.'
Oh and the nerve of you to call him "some guy", he is clearly more than that he always makes sure... But he didn't speak of it. A part of him wants to keep you talking, or at least, keep you. With his usual antics of speaking up, he knows it would snap you out of whatever reverie you are in and wheel his ass back in Arkham and so he kept his usual self at below the average.
You sighed. "Did you know how much of life I missed? Loved ones birthdays, important events that they're mad at me, favourite bands and artists' concerts, all that— my own birthdays... I don't want to say it out loud because I know Bruce had it worst and I don't want to seem... I don't want to come across as... I..." You struggled to put it into words, the dread of these words that were locked away bursts your thoughts and made its way pass your lips, you'd think you would be shun with thinking such a thing. "I don't know... That I'm not loving the hero life?"
Though half-baked, it finally felt good to let it out. Not only that, you weren't greeted with the sight of the disgust you were envisioning in your head, the reason why you often brushed these thoughts aside. Edward only sat attentive and understanding, he can't blame you for feeling that way at all.
"There's nothing wrong to feel that way."
"You really think so?" You find yourself stunned that Edward "The Riddler" Nygma would get you of all people, let alone, for him to be the first person you'd confide in about the long-held thought.
He nodded in response. You clearly need a friend who understands you.
You sink at the feeling of relief. In hindsight, you just made a friend out of one of Gotham's rogues. Taking a breather, you unlocked your cuffs and stood.
"Right. I've talked your ear off," you pocket the handcuffs and took a communication device from your belt. Pressing a few buttons, static emits from this device and Edward braces himself.
"Where are you?" A deep voice from the comm link rumbles from your very core. You didn't know whether you shivered from the cold, Gotham air and the wetness of your form or the mere effect of Bruce.
You cleared your throat. "The docks. I lost him."
Edward's eyes widened. Ohohoho, really now?
"Stay there."
With that, the link ended and you untense in relief. Turning over Edward, you gave him a look.
"Not a word. I'm letting you go," That should make you equal. "Stay out of trouble."
He scoffs. Does he look like he'd abide by that? But then again, laying low for awhile is a plan.
"Toodles~!" He skips off.
After his departure, you were anticipating the feeling of regret to creep in... It didn't. Instead, you were looking forward to seeing him again. Just what was that encounter was something you could have never ever foreseen, but then again, he is an Enigma.

The Current and The Ex
Summary: What happens when your ex-girlfriend meets your current girlfriend?
Word Count: 819
AO3
Bruce knew immediately that the hand that lay on top of his shoulder was not Anne’s.
He looked over his shoulder.
"Selina!" He said, surprised.
"Hello, Handsome." She purred into her ear, and Bruce quickly recognized the tone of her voice. Her flirtatious tone.
"Selina. How are you doing? Stealing again?"
She giggles. "Oh Bruce! Do you think that low of me? No! I’m just here to have a great time with a Mister Gregory Hall! He's a lovely company!" The hand that was on his shoulder moved to his chest. "But not the same as yours, of course."
If he wasn’t in a relationship, Bruce would have quit the party and taken her to his hotel room, just to relive the old times and see her again in a few months or maybe years. But now he needs to create a boundary with Selina at this very moment.
It has been three months since the relationship became public. Anne has been through a lot of stress because of the attention and curiosity of the Gotham people. The constant harassment of the paparazzi The disgusting rumors The speculations about their relationship She doesn’t need to worry about women throwing themselves at him at every event they go to. She has a lot on her plate as Batman and Bruce Wayne’s girlfriend, even though the former wasn’t known by anyone.
Bruce gently grabbed Selina’s wrist and removed it from his chest.
"Listen, Selina." He started carefully.
He was about to say more, but a voice behind him interrupted him.
"Hello." The voice said so naturally.
Bruce closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He looked over, and there she was. Anne Bennett dressed in a beautiful black dress that hugged her form comfortably, and her beautiful blond hair was tied in a perfect bun.
"I am so sorry to interrupt, but by the way I saw you and Bruce interact, I knew you were... a close friend, and I thought it would be rude if I didn’t introduce myself." She stretched out her hand. "Hi, Anne Bennett, Bruce’s girlfriend."
Selina looked surprised by her boldness, but she quickly regained her composure.
"Selina Kyle." She said accepting her hand.
Bruce wondered if some partygoers could see and feel the tension around the three of them.
"I have been hearing a lot about you lately, Miss Bennett. So much that I don’t know which one is true or not."
Anne chuckled.
"Well, I will be glad to clarify which one is true or not. I pass a magazine stand on my way to work, and I love how creative they’re being with their headlines. What have you been hearing? ‘Bruce Wayne breaks up with his new boo due to cheating!’? False; neither of us has enough time in the day to do that. Or ‘Bruce Wayne leaves a pregnant girlfriend!’ I assure you that’s not true either."
"Well." Bruce stepped in. "The truth is, and I wish everyone knew it, that I'm very happy." He put his arm around Anne’s waist and dragged her closer. She rested her body on his side.
Selina looked at them, studied them, and smiled.
"Well, I can see it with my own eyes." She said. "I should return to my date. It was a pleasure to meet you, Miss Bennett."
"Same, Miss Kyle."
"We should have a girl’s night one day."
"Oh, I would love it, but I would like to add up that I'm allergic to cats."
Selina's eyes widen, and she looks at Bruce. "Oh, so it’s serious this time! Well, good luck this time, Bruce!"
"Goodbye, Selina."
Selina left, and Bruce could feel Anne’s body relax. He looked at her. "Darling..."
"Let’s go home. My feet are hurting."
In the car, they drive in silence. Bruce is on the wheel, and Anne is resting her head on the window with her eyes closed.
"Darling." Bruce started.
"Yes." She hummed.
"You are not allergic to cats." He stated.
"I know." She opened her eyes and lifted her head. "But I wanted her to know that I know about everything. That I am neck-deep in your life. That I am not just fancy pansy that’s going to disappear next mouth."
Bruce put his hand on her thigh. "You’re not."
Anne smiled and put her hand on top of his. "I know." She sighed. "But the next time a woman puts a hand on your chest, take three steps backwards, mister. You have long legs. You will be out of the room by that time."
Bruce chuckled and squeezed her hand. "Yes, ma’am. I will do it, that is, if you can do the same if one of your ex-boyfriends shows up."
Anne laughed. "Don't worry. They are all stuck in Missouri."
They went back to the comfortable silence until Anne removed her hand from his and spoke: "Didn't I wear a bracelet tonight?"

LEMON AND TANGERINE, TANGERINE AND LEMON
in which the fruits and the cat cross paths
chapter : three
character : tangerine
fandom : bullet train
song : pretty girls make graves , the smiths
date : 18th june 2023
Tumblr media
the first three or so minutes of the train's departure had gone smoothly. black cat was almost a quarter way through her box of pocky, and she had convinced herself that the time it had taken for her to choose a flavour as simple as strawberry was completely valid. if she'd chosen a flavour she ended up disliking, her whole mood for the rest of the mission would've been ruined, and therefore throwing her off track and negatively altering her performance. all this just to feel better about taking five minutes to make a decision on japanese snacks at a train station.
but things started to feel... iffy, when the two men who'd previously sat diagonally behind her, moved themselves to sit in the four-seater directly behind her. when she'd walked down the aisle looking for her seat before the train departed, she'd noticed a man in a furry brown jacket already sleeping, his head against the window. sure, she found it odd how he was already sleeping, and the train wasn't even moving yet, but she had greater things to worry about, so sat promptly in her seat without batting an eye.
"you're safe now," the same voice, whom she'd heard swear at the tall shaggy man before, spoke up, and black cat's chewing of strawberry-flavoured pocky slowed down in order to eavesdrop. "your father sent us."
"you idiots work for my father?" a groggy russian accent returned, a tone of exasperation apparent in his voice.
in black cat's line of profession, anyone who "works" for someone's father is never doing innocent business. unfortunately, some people's fathers are just into some crazy, messed up shit, and hire money-hungry men to do their dirty work. and if you were to say she was a hypocrite, she would disagree; if someone's father hires her, she does it for the experience, not for the money... but sometimes the money, too.
"technically, we're outside contractors."
that line was definitely a red flag.
black cat swallowed her mouthful of pocky and packed up her snacks, tucking them away in the pockets of her coat once again. "outside contractors" weren't a good sign, either. sure, she was one; in fact, she was completely independent in her line of work, until someone were to hire her. but when you're on a mission of your own, and in such a tight space where escapability is limited to one-minute stops every ten-or-so minutes, hearing the phrase, "outside contractors" was not a good look.
"i'm tangerine, and he's lemon."
and that was the confirmation.
before, she'd given the men the benefit of the doubt. you know, maybe they worked under a prestigious company owned by this man's father, or they'd been hired by someone's father to do some building work on their house. but those names, lemon and tangerine, weren't names a kind mother gave their children. they were codenames.
black cat knew well of codenames and aliases. i mean, you didn't think her parents named her that when she popped out the womb, did you? she'd heard all types of things: the white death, batman and superman, the chomper – hell, she'd even been paid to kill a gang member who went by the name of "peter piper." and now there was tangerine and lemon to add to the mix. these guys weren't going to make this mission easy for her, she suspected.
"right. your daddy hired us to get you out of the trouble you got yourself into, didn't you, naughty boy—"
the cockney man situated right behind black cat was cut off by the russian person, who was stuck wondering why these two fully grown men had such childish nicknames. you could sense the tension growing in the air between the trio as their nicknames were repeatedly pulled up as the topic of conversation.
"oh, fuckin' hell!" the man scoffed, and black cat felt his seat wobble against the back of hers. he clearly had a temper he couldn't control. not a good trait when you work in the art of espionage, or whatever it was he called himself, black cat thought. "it's not important, is it? what is important are the seventeen dead bodies we left getting you back from the triad that kidnapped you with the plans to ransom you to your extremely psychotic fucked-up father."
what a mouthful.
"actually, it's sixteen," the other man black cat recognised from the train station chimed in. his voice was calmer, lower, and in more control, compared to his yapping partner.
after a pause, filled with tension so thick in such a short period of time it would take a chainsaw to gnaw through it, the first man – tangerine – replied, his voice audibly tougher than before. "what's that, now?" it was clear to black cat that he didn't like being told he's wrong.
"sixteen kills, mate—"
"no, it was seventeen."
black cat rolled her eyes as she folded the train route map into the netting before her. these two partners seemed to be very comfortable talking about their kill count on a very public train.
rule number one of contract killing: don't talk about your job in a public area where people are bound to hear. people don't want to hear about that shit while they're trying to get to the place they need to go, talk to the people they need to talk to, do the things they need to do. and, quite obviously, it could possibly breach their operation, by disclosing such information, the wrong people could get involved. for all she cared she could use this against them, and devise her own plan to ruin their mission.
if the train ride got too boring, for the long ten-fifteen minutes she'd be there, she could mess with them a little, and maybe put some sense into their puny little brains that maybe they should be more cautious about the information they're talking about so loudly.
"hey, listen," the russian sighed, distracting the two fruits from their mini argument about how many people they'd killed, and if the civilian who'd been blown up by a car was their fault (which, if you asked for her opinion, black cat found extremely unprofessional; you're not supposed to get anybody else hurt who isn't worth the money you're getting at the end of the operation). "i'm just gonna get off at the next stop."
there was some rustling from the four-seater behind black cat as he was pushed back into his seat, followed by lemon telling him to get back into his seat, which was followed by another round of silence.
"do you know what they call your papushka?" tangerine asked, resetting the tone from the previous argumentative one.
"of course i fucking do."
"the white death," lemon stated, despite the russian man already explaining he knew.
the white death? these men worked for the white death, and this russian boy they had with him was his son?
big red flag.
black cat glanced down at her coat, pressing on the material softly as if to check the briefcase was still sitting beneath it. she tried to control her breathing, but nothing could stop her heart from increasing in pace. her mission just became ever so more difficult.
"our job is to keep you safe, and to recover the briefcase with the ransom money inside," tangerine began to explain. "and i plan on completin' my job, and keeping..." black cat felt him lean forward in his seat as he lowered his voice. "lemon?"
lemon hummed in reply.
"where's the briefcase?"
right next to me, black cat thought, blinking as she turned her head around to the seat beside her.
"oh, i stashed it," lemon replied casually, and black cat could picture him shrugging and crossing his arms, sitting more comfortably in his seat as his increasing confidence seeped through his veins.
tangerine's seat shifted again from behind her. "the case, lemon," he repeated, tone now serious and authoritative. "go get me the fucking case."
lemon sighed, clearly frustrated that his partner didn't trust him, and stepped down the aisle to the baggage storage between carriages two and three, where black cat had stolen their briefcase from.
as he approached the sliding automatic door, black cat craned her head into the aisle in curiosity, leaning out of her seat to watch him go. she was unsure whether to take her leave now, or to wait for him to get back with the decoy and leave discreetly with the real case.
a phone began buzzing, and black cat pressed a hand to the breast pocket of her blazer, making sure it wasn't her mobile, but tangerine stepped out of his seat, and answered the call.
he stood with his back to her, and she managed to take in the royal blue of his suit, and how perfectly tailored it was to his proportions. his hair was of a dark brown, slicked back well enough in a natural manner so that no strands came astray, but not in a way he looked overly-crisp, as though he'd applied countless amounts of hairspray to keep it looking perfect – you wouldn't believe the amount of greaseballs the woman had had to deal with who all thought that image was the peak of mens fashion.
"do you have white death's son?" a deep russian voice crackled from the other end of the line.
tangerine glanced behind him at the man that still remained seated. "what, you mean this dickhead with the silly face tattoos? yeah, he's sat right here."
"and the briefcase?"
"yes, of course i've got the case." tangerine dug his free hand into his tailored trouser pocket, and he swivelled his body to the door lemon had exited out of, and black cat peered into the aisle to follow suit.
through the window in the automatic door, a large brown bag was thrown to the wall with a bump, and lemon appeared, punching the air in a fit of anger, an outraged glint in his eye.
as the line beeped to an end, tangerine slowly removed the mobile from his ear. he'd seen lemon, too, she knew. and he set off down the aisle as a muffled voice chimed through the compartment, indicating the train's soon arrival to shinagawa station.
black cat decided this would be the perfect time to take her leave, and she pulled her coat off the case and took the handle in her hand. she stood up and pulled on her overcoat, holding the briefcase close to her body as she stepped out into the aisle.
she took a moment to shake her head, running a few fingers through the curls of her ponytail, and adjust her clothing so that she looked presentable and to avoid suspicion. the woman let out an exhale, glancing back at tangerine as he disappeared through the sliding door to see to his partner, and walked down the aisle in the opposite direction, and kept walking, until she was far enough down the line to not have any run-ins with the fruits.
she'd reached the end of the economy compartments, and the train came promptly to a stop.
but as she stepped on the pressure plate, and the automatic door zipped open, allowing her entry into the small purgatory between compartments, two figures fell into her; one dressed in all white, with curly brown hair and an arm raised over his head as he charged the other man, lengthy dirty blonde hair covered by a cream bucket hat, and a khaki overcoat.
the case flew from her grip as she was shoved into the other door, her temple pounding into the strong glass from the weight of the two men against her. with a huff, black cat pushed off the slick surface, her strength and momentum sending them off of her.
with the roar of a tiger, the man in white, taken with the momentum of her retaliation into the next door, grabbed the material of black cat's long coat as he fell. and black cat, taken with the white man, grabbed the material of the other man's khaki trench coat, dragging him into the mix as they all flew back-first through glass.

My Dear Friend
Part 2
Part 1 and summary here⬇️
"Look what you've done. We could be dead right now all because why? You couldn't keep your stupid mouth shut!" I heard his voice echoing in the inside of my skull as I woke up. He was always so noisy when I was trying to sleep. I wiggle my hands and feet making sure I could move them before I opened my eyes. I was somewhere dark, damp, and cold. I let out a murmur as I try to get my eyes to focus. I wasn't in Arkham unless they decided to add a cave wing. That's what it was. I was in a cave but how?
I shook my head trying to shake off this fog my head was in. "Run run! Someone is watching. They are gonna-"
"Stop yelling! I hear you!" I shouted back at my noisy friend. When I yelled I heard bats out of sight flap their wings and squeak. It's then I realized I was on a cot of some kind. I sit up quickly. I was still In my sweatsuit that was handed out at Arkham but my sleeve was rolled up and I had a small bandage in the crease of my arm.
"It was the lunatic in the bat pajamas. I saw him. He took your blood Margaret, he's up to something."
"Just relax Felix. You're sounding crazy." I say as I use the cot to help me to my feet.
"Who's Felix?" I almost jumped out of my skin when he spoke. I looked around and finally saw a tall figure step out of the shadows. It was Batman.
"A friend. Where am I?" I ask as  I manage to stand straight but as soon as I let go of the cot I wobble and fall right back on it.
"Just relax. You fell asleep in the car. Do you want to tell me why you were in Arkham? Or more importantly why that man was so desperate to keep you there?" He asked as he came a bit closer. He was lying I didn't fall asleep. He put something in the mask. I wasn't about to argue with the Dark Knight though. I know he's human but that doesn't make me any less afraid of him.
"If I tell you, you have to promise not to take me back. I'm gonna sound crazy but I'm not, I'm really not. Just pinky promise me." I say looking up at him. He stands there for what feels like forever before he sticks out his gloved pinky to me. I hook mine around his quickly and let go. "Okay my friend who I mentioned earlier told me the director was performing experiments on patients at Arkham. A-and my friend is really good at stopping bad stuff from happening if I let him so I took him to the directors office and asked him to stop what he was doing or something really bad would happen to him." I spoke as quickly and clearly as I possibly could. Even though I wasn't in Arkham I still felt like he could hear me. Batman stood there for a while. Motionless, his face never changed.
"Where is your friend now? How do I get a hold of them?" He asked in an even tone. How calm he was almost made me want to relax a little.
I shook my head.
"That's the part you won't believe. He's not really a person… Well that sounds bad. He's a person but-" batman cut me off
"But I can't see or hear him."
"Yes yes! You totally don't believe me do you? Okay look I can prove it." I say almost frantically. Batman still didn't move, his face still had the same expression. "Felix, can you show Batman you are real? It doesn't have to be anything huge, just something." I ask as I look around.
"You can't see him either? How do you know he's even here?" Batman asked.
"Oh trust me I can just tell. He's here somewhere." I say still searching the top of the cave in hopes I'll catch a glimpse of something. After a few moments I sigh. "He's messing with me. Sometimes he likes to-" as I spoke I saw the pillow on the cot lift up slowly before being tossed at Batman who catches it in one hand. He seemed unphased. The blanket slowly pulls itself off the cot and seems to fling itself over Batman's head. He takes it off of himself and looks at me.
"How did he know the director was performing experiments?" Batman asked as if nothing just happened. I was shocked for a second but I guess I shouldn't be surprised. He probably sees all kinds of stuff on the streets of Gotham.
"Well he just hears things. Like secrets, stuff people shouldn't hear. Then he tells me and they have to know about them. Normally he tells me things and I don't say anything but this was serious. People were getting hurt. I wanted to help and Felix said he could help. But I knew better than to believe him so I told him we should give the director a chance to stop before I let Felix handle it." I stop to take a deep breath. He nodded for me to continue like he could tell there was more I wasn't saying. "Felix wanted to kill him. I wouldn't let him so he got mad and tried to teach me a lesson." As I say this the pillow still in Batman's hand gets yanked loose and thrown across the room and again Batman doesn't even bat an eye at Felix's antics.
"So your friend let you get admitted into Arkham to show you, you should have let him kill the man?" I nod sheepishly as a crash is heard somewhere In the cave. I jumped but I knew it was Felix.
"They were giving me a lot of drugs. I think one of them weakened him. By the time things got really dangerous Felix wasn't able to help all that much. A broken glass, or a shove here or there was really all he could do."
"And now?" Batman asked as he finally pulled his eyes from me to slowly scan the darkness behind me.
"Now he's normal old Felix again." I say softly.
"No one looked for you? How long were you there?"
"No idea. A while I think. And no, no one was looking for me. I'm not from Gotham. I was in a few foster homes but it's hard with someone like Felix around. He can be a little aggressive." I say, shuffling on the cott. I pulled my sleeve down then remembered he took my blood. "And why did you need my blood?" I ask looking up at him. He didn't answer. He turned and walked down some stairs as he walked more of the cave was lit up. I saw a giant penny and a few different kinds of batman suits. He walked over to a big computer looking thing and sat down. I tried to stand again this time gaining more ground. I slowly walked my way down the stairs and stood behind him.
"The gas the Scarecrow dosed you with causes delirium and hallucinations. It can give his victims a heart attack if not treated quickly. At first I thought maybe you didn't inhale enough to be affected but the blood work shows you got 3 times a normal dose. You shouldn't be standing let alone speaking right now." He says as he pulled up a bunch of numbers and graphs I didn't understand. I shrug my shoulders.
"I don't know, maybe I got lucky. Could it have been a bad batch?" I say as I grab the back of his chair to take some weight off my legs. He didn't seem satisfied with the answer. He typed and read for a while as I stood there. I looked around for a seat, still feeling weak and tired. I see the cott and started to walk my way back to it. Climbing the stairs was a much bigger task than going down them. I sit at the base of the stairs and huff.
"Don't go far. " He says over his shoulder. I don't think me wondering around is a very realistic fear right now. I lay down on the step and put my head on my hand as a cushion. The pillow Felix threw started to slowly drag itself back to me. I take it and put it under my head.
"Thanks" I whisper as I close my eyes. I could have fallen asleep if it wasn't for the coldness of the stone step I was laying on. Felix started to speak to me about something involving a rich man living a double life. I do my best not to listen to his ramblings.
"He doesn't plan to let us go." This made my eyes pop open. It was a silly thing to worry about. I mean he was Batman he had to let me go at some point. I sat up and looked at him still working.
"If you don't mind, can you drop me off outside of city limits? If I never see Gotham again it will be too soon." I joke.
"You can't leave yet. The director knows your name, your face. No telling what a desperate man would do to keep his secrets. It's best if you stay here for a little longer." He says not looking back at me. It was reasonable enough but I was getting antsy just sitting and Felix wasn't helping.
"If there is one thing Felix is good at, it's keeping me alive. He won't make the same mistake twice. We will leave town. I want to leave, please?" I say as I stand up. He didn't seem to react.
"Go and lay down on the cott I'll wake you up when I'm all set." He says still not moving from his seat. I look at the cott and sigh. I could use a nap. I start my very slow climb. I could feel Felix keeping me up right as I walked. I made it to the cott and as soon as I layed down I shut my eyes. I felt a blanket be pulled over me which was all I needed to fall asleep again.

          — Bruce didn't know what to make of this strange girl. She seems harmless one minute then she says something that makes him wonder. He used some connections and asked around about a girl matching her description going missing from the system. Only one girl matched. Margaret Arthur. Parents died in a fire when she was an infant and was placed with a family who kept her for almost 10 years before relinquishing guardianship without explanation. Since then she has been in 5 homes in the past 3 years all ended the fostering period early never giving a reason.
Bruce made a few calls asking around. He knew what he had to do. He could tell she was good just needed some help. He had all the resources in the world to give her. He knew once he explained it to Dick and Jason they would be on board. He had to adopt her. She left for a few more hours which gave him some time to call his lawyers and the adoption agency. He has the story all worked out and who wouldn't believe Bruce Wayne. —
I woke up again this time with a headache and a growling stomach. I sat up and looked around. I stood up without issue now and walked to the stairs. The lights lit up the lower floor but I couldn't see Batman anywhere.
"Hello? Anyone here?" I say as I walk a little deeper. He has alot of souvenirs it seemed. I saw a mask that looked just like Scarecrows. I thought it was odd he kept these things. It made me wonder if Batman was scared of anything. He keeps all these freaky things in a poorly lit cave how does he not get creeped out.
"I'll look for an exit" I agreed and continued my stroll in this dank cave until I came to a much longer staircase. "Up here I found a way out" I walked up them carefully. I couldn't see an exit just more steps till finally I heard a creaking sound and a hatch opened slowly. Light flooded the steps as the door opened wider. Once my eyes adjusted I saw a fancy looking officer. The windows were as tall as the walls and the desk was huge. "I think I broke the lock. Think he'll be mad?" I looked back at the spot I came from. It was a grandfather clock that was mounted to the wall to hide the entrance. Part of the wall was cracked around the deadbolts. "We are in his house I think." I say as I carefully close the door. I could hear voices speaking down the hall coming this way. I panicked and ran behind the desk and hid under it. Once the coast was clear I planned to look for a way out. The voices came closer till I could tell they were in the room with me.

“That’s it! I quit, Mister Ross. I’m not putting up with your arrogant attitude any longer!” You shouted in frustration before slamming your badge onto his large desk. You felt victorious hearing your shitty boss sputter out pathetic excuses to make you stay, but you weren’t having any of it. You weren’t some doormat he could just walk all over. ‘Typical men,’ you mused before slamming the door on his face.
While you drove back home, you tried your best to play some tunes in order to calm your mind down. First, you slammed your toe against the table leg. Then, you weren’t able to eat breakfast or drink any coffee since you were already late for work. If that wasn’t already hard enough, the traffic jam was horrendous due to your husband’s superhero friends destroying the road. Again. Now, you just fired yourself from a good paying job. Could this day get any worse?
You found yourself calming down when thinking about your husband. You smiled to yourself. Your lovely husband. He was effortlessly charming and surprisingly hilarious. He was a leader in every aspect, as you saw in his interactions with Dick and the other superheroes. You were proud of Bruce in every single way. You could only hope that when you got home and told him about your horrible day, he would dote on you like you deserved to be doted on.
There was no way you could’ve expected what you were about to encounter soon.
Entering the batcave with a drag in your step, you searched for your husband. “Darling?” You called out longingly, aching to rest your head against his sturdy chest. You could hear several deep voices arguing passionately with each other. You furrowed your brows in confusion. It wasn’t often your husband brought guests to the batcave, so this case must be important. You decided to walk up to the chaotic scene, wanting to know what was going on. When you approached the other people in the cave, you froze in your place. You weren’t sure what you were expecting to see, but it was definitely not this.
“Bruce…?” You whispered hesitantly, unsure of what to make of the scene in front of you. All three men turned around to look at you in confusion. “Yes?” They replied in unison. All three looked at each other at the same time after speaking before looking back to observe you. You had a look of shock painted on your face as one of them stepped towards you. You backed up one step out of fear, unsure of his motivations. He stayed silent before he tilted his head to the side. “(Y/n)? I was not expecting you to come home so soon. According to your weekly schedule that I’ve managed to memorize in my free time, you were supposed to leave work and arrive home around seven p.m.,” he stated in a matter-of-fact tone. Your face contorted more in confusion. What the hell is he talking about? He sounded so scientific when he spoke. You had no time to respond to him when a more physically fit Bruce strode to you and swiftly pulled you close to his chest. You had originally wanted your husband to do this earlier, but now you were too weirded out to properly relish in it. “Hey sexy,” he purred out seductively before kissing you passionately. You barely had time to kiss him back before he gently pushed you against one of the pillars, leaning down to completely ravish your neck. It took everything within you not to let a soft moan slip from your mouth as you gripped onto his arms. “B-Baby,” you stuttered out breathlessly. Though it was strange, this wasn’t too bad of a predicament. You’ve always wanted Bruce to be more passionate anyways. The two others watched from behind, the scientific one awkwardly fidgeting and the other one flashing you a goofy smile. Your gaze faltered when your husband lifted his lips from your neck, satisfied at the line of hickeys he managed to make. Your cheeks heated in embarrassment, mentally groaning at the fact that you were going to go through the extra effort of hiding them for the next few days. His eyes shined with passion and flirtation, his large hands wandering all over your body. “Do you wanna ditch these two and have a little fun? You look like you need your wonderful hubby to treat you like royalty,” he suggested seductively. Though the offer was incredibly tempting, you knew that now was not the time to indulge in your secret fantasies. Luckily, the scientific one spoke for your thoughts.
“Batman, focus. We can’t get distracted by our partner, no matter how…” he trailed off as you could hear his breath hitch. “tempting it is to participate in something other than putting ourselves back together,” he murmured, his voice dropping lower at his rising excitement. God, helping these three to set things back to normal is going to be torture now that they expressed their desires towards you. The one close to your body licked his lips and leaned up to kiss your cheek lovingly. “Come with us, gorgeous. You can sit on my lap while we let other me do all the work,” he said with a cheeky wink to you. You became flustered in his arms, but followed the three to the large computer. You could make out the other Batman’s complaints about how he ‘always does all the work’ while you walked over to the third Bruce. You haven’t been able to get to know him yet. You were surprised to see a handful of chips in his hands when he turned around. He flashed his goofy smile at you and you couldn’t help but melt at the sight. Bruce always had such a cute smile and you were glad that one of the Bruces still had it. This one seemed to be the more sensitive one. “Hey gorgeous,” he greeted with a lazy shrug. You reached up to cup his cheek while he ate a cheesy chip greedily. “I assume you’re the personality Batman without the trauma?” You deduced. His eyes lit up at your conclusion and laughed heartily. “Correct! Did I ever mention that I love how smart you are? You were always smarter than me, babe,” he complimented before leaning in to press a messy kiss to your cheek. He dusted some crumbs off your cheek affectionately and made your way towards the others. While you watched him set up a hammock to relax in, you walked up to the scientific Bruce.
“So what the hell happened to you guys?” You asked curiously. He looked at you and let out a heavy sigh. “Well, we were trying to stop Dr. Ecks from causing a nuclear meltdown in order to make his evil double more powerful, but we weren’t able to,” he said while pushing some buttons from the computer. “The nuclear meltdown caused us to split into three personalities and combined two other people into a singular man with the nuclear power Dr. Ecks originally wanted.” You nodded in understanding, looking over at your passionate husband doing push-ups. You let out an irritated sigh. “So, where is that super-powered being you were talking about?” He pointed towards the artifacts wing. “Over there. I’m letting them take a break while I run some DNA tests from their trials he talks to himself, most likely with the other person he was combined with, but we interestingly cannot hear or see the person. He looks like he’s talking to himself, really,” he deduced before getting to work in computing data. You sighed loudly and rubbed your face tiredly. You really wanted to just go upstairs and cuddle with your husband, but now you had to help him solve this case. Great, another inconvenience to add to your already terrible day. Not wanting to piss yourself off more with such thoughts, you leaned in to press a kiss to his cheek softly. “Okay, I’ll help you compute data and figure out what’s going on. Time is surely running out before Dr. Ecks can somehow find another way to make himself more powerful than your superhero friend and all three of you.” The kiss caused him to freeze in place. You watched him slowly form a blush from the corners of his cheeks under his mask. It’s good to know that even the scientific Bruce can still become flustered in your presence.
Together, you continued to figure out ways to use his friend’s powers to help bring the three personalities back together when your husband finally found a solution. From the corner of your eye, you saw the passionate personality gear up near the batmobile. You made your way over to him to ask what he was up to. He was immersed in preparing for a fight when he felt a gentle hand on his arm. He turned around and when he saw you standing behind him, his eyes widened in surprise. Already knowing what you were going to say to him, he turned back around grumpily and continued to gear up. “Don’t try to stop me, (y/n). I need to kick every last one of those criminal scums into prison so Gotham city can sleep in peace at last.” You hummed in disapproval and turned him around to rest your hand on his chest. He let out a small groan at the feeling and looked at you with desire. That look was something you were familiar with, a gaze he gave you when you’ve wanted to touch you in ways that were too inappropriate to think about right now. He decided to ignore your touch and walked forward to caress your cheek. “Please, baby. I want to do this because I wanna protect you,” he begged quietly. Unable to say no to him, you turned your head to kiss the palm of his glove. “Okay. Go. I’ll tell the others to catch up and help you out.” He was about to protest, most likely to tell you that he could handle it himself until you flashed him a dangerously irritated glare. You didn’t have time to argue with him today and you were already hanging on by a thread with only the hope that this predicament could be fixed as soon as possible. “Go. Before I change my mind,” you hissed out before storming off.
After your outburst, you decided that it was your final straw. You needed to go upstairs and let off some steam. You only stopped by the lab to inform the others about passionate Batman’s whereabouts before heading towards the elevators. The sympathetic Batman looked at you worriedly, but hurriedly left the batcave to follow scientific Batman.
———
When you finally heard the bedroom door open, it was late into the evening. You’ve already showered and tucked yourself into bed for the night when he came in. He saw your laying form, your back turned to him. Immediately, a wave of guilt hit him. You radiated an aura of anger and extreme frustration from everything you had to go through today. After he reflected on how he vowed to make an effort to make you feel better.
He started his night routine and speeded through it as quickly as possible so he could join his partner in bed. When he finally changed into pajamas, he practically dove into the bed, immediately hugging you close. He turned you around and pressed a flurry of kisses all over your grumpy face. “Thank you for putting up with me today. It must be overwhelming to deal with three of me, I’m sure,” he murmured quietly against your cheek. You had to admit, it was good to see your husband all whole again. Though you were admittedly going to miss his three personalities, the way he kissed you now and doted on you was more fulfilling than any emotions you felt today. You teared up and let out all your frustrations from today. From the moment you woke up to now, you recounted to him everything that happened that made you finally snap. Though he was always a tease, now wasn’t the time to tease you in an attempt to make you smile. Instead, he showed a more solemn expression and listened to you carefully.
After you finished speaking, he cupped your cheek and leaned down to kiss your forehead lovingly. “I’m sorry that happened, love. I may be back to the way I was before, but my love and passion that I only have for you has and never will change. I hope that my displays of affection tonight are enough to bring the beautiful smile back on your face that I very much adore,” he spoke lovingly, poking your cheek with a chuckle. You smiled at his words and giggled from the poke. This was the Bruce you fell in love with; a selfless man who would go through hell time and time again in order to make sure you were safe and happy. If you had learned anything from his three personalities, it was how much Bruce loved you. He loved you wholeheartedly; loved you with his body, mind, and soul. As you kissed him once more, you were grateful for the unique opportunity to experience your husband’s shenanigans every single day, even today’s opportunity to experience all the amusing interactions his three personalities had with you and each other. Though it was a strange experience, it still managed to miraculously put a smile on your face today. After all, three is the magic number.

Edward slowly shuffled into the diner. It was late at night, after he had finished work. On his way home, he wanted to stop and get some coffee, maybe even a slice of pumpkin pie. He frequented this diner often but never this late so when he walked in and was, instead of being welcomed by the sound of a large crowd all trying to get their orders in at the same time, was greeted by absolute silence expect for a man flipping through a magazine in the corner and the old TV that hung on the wall playing the news, he was pleasantly surprised.
He made his way to one of the many empty stools at the bar before waiting for someone behind said bar to notice him and take his order. He was rubbing his eyes under his glasses when he heard; “oh hello, sir. Sorry about the wait. I didn’t hear you come in.” He quickly pulled his hands away and what he saw… He could not understand. The woman in front of him must have been an angel. She was heavenly. And the sweetness in her voice made him feel like, for once, he had met someone who meant what they said. He hums before shaking his head “D-don’t worry about it.” he said, his face slightly flushed. “I am used to being ignored,” he thought to himself. “Well what can I get for you?” the waitress asked. He bit his lip in thought before shrugging “just a black coffee. And a slice of pumpkin pie.” As the woman was writing down the order, he took the time to look her over. He then noticed the name tag she was wearing. Y/N, it read. “Y/N?” Edward said, almost asking to make sure he was saying it right. She smiled “Yes, my name is Y/N. Nice to meet you, Mr…” Y/N said. “Oh Edward. Just call me Edward.” “Right. Okay, Edward, I will be right back out with your order” Y/N said before turning around and heading into the kitchen, disappearing from Edward’s sight.
But after a short period of time, Y/N walked back into Edward’s view, carrying a coffee cup and a slice of pie. “Here you are. One black coffee and one pumpkin pie. Is there anything else I can get you?” she asked. In response, Edward simply shook his head. “Alright well, if you need anything, I’ll just be over here, cleaning up a bit.” With that, Y/N turned around and grabbed a towel and some spray and began wiping down the counter. Behind her played the news which, of course, was still covering the funeral of the mayor. Now, the reporters were talking about how people are still confused as to what the mysterious Riddler meant with the riddle he left there; “It can be cruel, poetic, or blind. But when it’s denied, it’s violence you may find.” Edward had to hold back a laugh at the clear incopitance of the reporters, still not understanding his riddle.
Then, he heard someone faintly say “Justice. The answer is Justice.” He turned to the direction of the voice and realized it was Y/N. Wanting to clarify what he had heard, Edward asks “what?” Y/N lifts her head before chuckling nervously “sorry. I um… I enjoy doing riddles and whenever The Riddler comes up with a new riddle, I like to solve them. Sorry again, I’ll just-” Y/N was interrupted by Edward who, while shaking his head, said “no. I enjoy riddles too. What was the answer that you said?” Y/N slowly smiled when she realized that Edward wasn’t being rude and was genuinely curious. “Oh, it's justice. It can be cruel, poetic, or blind but when it's denied, it’s violence you may find. It’s a play on words” Y/N said. Edward then slowly smiled before humming “smart” he said quietly before going back to his coffee and pie. At that moment, Edward knew he had to have Y/N. She was pure and innocent AND smart. Smart enough to answer his riddles when nobody but himself and Batman could. She was too good for Gotham, too good for the world. She had to be protected and that was exactly what Edward was going to do.
