Hi, I really like your writing and I wanted to send a request for Newt (tmr) if that's okay? My thought was that the reader was the first girl that showed up in the Glade, and with that, some of the boys there were kinda disrespectful, sometimes even making her insecure to be alone. And Newt, being the sweetest and most caring of them all, became the one she grew most attached to, she hardly ever leaves his side. And Newt also became super protective of her, like, when some of the others are near he'll subtly hold on to her or pull her to his side, things like that. He's just super soft with her and she's everything to him, however he doesn't think his feelings are reciprocated. And you can decide how they get together, i just wanted to see that dynamic. Would be super grateful if you could write it, thank you <3

You can feel the eyes on you no matter where you look. You haven’t been stared at like this in a long time, if ever, and no lack of memory can make up for the fact that this feels terribly, utterly wrong. It’s one thing to be the center of attention, but this? This lack of privacy, no, this sudden, terrible attention? This is the worst thing you’ve ever experienced. It even outweighs waking up in the center of a massive maze with only a couple dozen boys to keep you company.

The boys, however, are precisely the problem right now. You are the only girl to ever show up in their Glade, and they’re making their shock quite evident. Wherever you go, you find yourself followed by curious stares and fascinated looks. Even now, just sitting at a bench and wishing the noon break would come to an end, it feels as if every head in the Glade is turned towards you.

It would be one thing if they were just confused by you, but this is different, more malicious. These boys are hungry for someone like you, they stare at your every muscle and bone as if imagining you in their clothes, or in no clothes at all. It’s like you’re surrounded by a pack of wolves, except instead of bloody jaws all you see are their eyes, constantly watching. No matter where you go, you are never alone long enough to feel safe.

Just when you think that you might go mad from the sheer exhaustion of being witnessed, someone slides into a seat next to you. You look up with a start, but relax when you realize you know the boy beside you. This blond second in command is one of the only guys here that you actually trust, something you learned within your first hour of coming out of the Box and has stayed true even now, a week or two after your arrival.

Newt glances at you briefly, taking in the knot of your brows and the way your hands won’t stop twisting together. “They’re not getting any better, are they?” He asks, jerking his chin towards the masses of boys surrounding you.

You shake your head. “Not at all. I thought they’d get bored of me, but it doesn’t seem like that’s the case.”

Newt grimaces. “I don’t know what’s gotten into them. They’re normal boys, I swear, it’s just that–”

You cut him off, voice soft. “It’s just that they don’t know how to act around a girl? I mean, I get it, it’s certainly weird that there were no girls here at all and then I showed up, but they don’t have to be like this.”

Newt finishes your thought for you. “They don’t have to be like monsters. I wish you could have had a normal entry to the Glade, or as normal as it gets around here. You deserve that much, at least.”

A rush of gratitude hits you, all directed towards the boy sitting beside you. You haven’t known Newt for long, but compared with the rest of the emptiness that contains your missing memories, it could have been forever. You have no idea why Newt has taken it upon himself to make sure you’re alright, but you couldn’t be happier that he did.

Newt, after all, is the one person who makes you feel safe. With him beside you, it’s as if the rest of the stares start to drop off, none of the boys wanting to be caught being creeps by the second in command. Newt’s presence is a silent shield, a buffer of quiet jokes and real smiles against the restless boys.

Soon enough, the workday will start again, the two of you will part ways, and that same feeling of insecurity will wrap itself about you once more. For now, though, you are content to sit here with Newt and pretend that nothing here could ever hurt you.

If you thought it was hard to face all that attention during the day, though, it only worsens once the sun starts to drop beneath the horizon. Even by yourself, your thoughts start to darken with the hour. It’s as if a switch flips inside your brain every time the sun sets, reminding you of every terror that could await you out in the Maze and every guilt you carry over not being a perfect Glader due to your recent arrival.

Plus, the darkness makes it easier for certain things to happen, things that nobody would dare attempt during the broad daylight. You’re sure that most boys here are actually quite normal, or so Newt says, but there are a few that make you uneasy. During the day, those boys are forced to leave you be, but they’re cloaked in shadows once night falls. You can’t get in trouble for something nobody sees, and it’s hard to see anything at all at a late hour like this.

The daily activities of the Glade are hard enough that you really need to get your sleep, but you can’t seem to shut your eyes longer than a few minutes at a time. Your mind refuses to grow calm, instead keeping you awake by running through simulations of all the worst things that could happen to you. You jump at the slightest of noises, and grow stressed at the smallest of movements.

You try to force yourself to relax back into your hammock, but no sooner have you made up your mind that you’re actually going to sleep do you see something. It’s the figure of a boy, one that first draws your attention at the far end of the sleeping area but slowly drifts closer to you.

A cloud shifts across the moon, and a beam of light casts itself upon the face of the boy. With a chill, you realize that you recognize him. The guy’s name is Paul, he’s been on your nerves ever since you arrived. He has this sense of entitlement that he wears like a king’s finest silks, truly believing that the world should scrape at his feet.

This entitlement only continues to you. Paul is one of the boys that makes you afraid to be alone, and the fact that he’s steadily drawing closer to you only worsens things. He’s near enough now that you can see his face well even in the shifting moonlight, and what you see terrifies you. His eyes are firmly fixed on you, the expression written in them almost hungry. His lips draw back in a grin, but it’s not happy, just pleased that he’ll finally be getting what he wants.

It strikes you now, how this situation could turn ugly. Everybody around you is sound asleep, so tired out by the day’s work that they wouldn’t awaken at a few footsteps. As if sensing your worries, Paul locks eyes with you, and gloatingly holds up one finger to his lips. He knows what you’re thinking, you realize, and he’s going to do exactly that.

Your heart spikes with horror as Paul calmly walks nearer to you. He’s taking his time, so sure that he won’t be caught that he’s enjoying himself. Paul is a Builder, too, he’s far stronger than you even if you put up a fight. Frantic, you look around you, and notice that Newt is in the hammock beside you.

You reach over and shove his shoulder as hard as you can, whispering his name under your breath as loudly as you dare. You don’t want to wake the others, too afraid of what Paul’s friends would do if they discovered what was going on, but you trust Newt to save and not damn you. You always have.

Paul’s footsteps quicken when he realizes what you’re trying to do, but one last desperate rap on Newt’s arm and the blond boy is up. He rubs a tired hand over his eyes, opening his mouth to blearily ask what you’re doing when he catches sight of Paul looming over you.

Instantly, Newt is on his guard. “What are you doing, Paul?”

You don’t know that you’ve ever heard Newt sound like this, so dangerously even. His tone is as cold as a dagger, and you swear you can see Paul start to bleed even before the Builder’s eyes widen.

Paul starts to stammer. “Uh, nothing. Just walking. Couldn’t sleep.”

Newt sits up, the moonlight revealing more of his body. The sleeves of his shirt are cut short, showing off his arms. Newt may not have the sheer bulk of a Builder, but he’s not weak either. If he wanted to, he could pack a mean punch.

Paul must realize that he’s caught, because he starts shuffling away again, a haunted look in his eyes. Once he’s gone, you turn back to Newt.

“Sorry to wake you up,” you whisper, “but I didn’t like where that was going.”

Newt shakes his head firmly. “Don’t apologize, Y/N. Jeez, what a slinthead that guy was. I’ll talk to Alby in the morning, see if we can get Paul thrown in the Slammer for trying that stunt. I don’t like to think about what might have happened if you hadn’t been awake long enough to see him coming.”

You don’t like the thought of it either, and even the promise of justice for Paul doesn’t stop you from shivering despite the warm night air. It all feels too close, the threat of unnameable violence too real. You’re supposed to be only fearing the Maze like the rest of the Gladers, for goodness’ sake, not the other boys.

Newt must be able to tell that you’re still terrified, because his expression softens and he holds an arm out to you. “Come over, Y/N. You can sleep with me in my hammock for now. That way we know for sure that no one else will try anything tonight.”

You have to admit, the thought of not being alone for the rest of the night does sound awfully good, but some part of you still hesitates. “I don’t want to keep you up any longer,” you hedge, but Newt doesn’t seem to mind.

“I’ll be fine, trust me. Unless you want nothing to do with any more boys,” he says, eyes starting to widen at the fear that you might think him no better than any of the other watchers, “In that case, feel no need to do anything of the sort.”

You laugh quietly, and watch as Newt’s tension leaves him in a wave. “I think that sounds perfect. Don’t worry about a thing.”

Newt’s smile returns, and that’s all the motivation you need to carefully climb out of your hammock and into his. The hammock is small enough that the two of you are pressed against each other, Newt’s arm draped casually around you back to pull you closer. His chest is still sleep-warm, and your head drops against his collarbone as if it were made to be there. Your last thought is that you don’t think you’ve ever felt so content in your life, and then you’re asleep.

You wake feeling more rested than you have since the day you showed up in the Glade. For a moment, you forget where you are, and then you feel Newt softly stirring against you and remember everything. It’s about half an hour before the rest of the boys get up, so no one has seen the two of you together, but you know enough to make mysterious heat rise to your cheeks.

Newt has woken up too, and he props himself up on one arm, raising a drowsy arm to push messy strands of golden hair away from his face. “Sleep well?” He asks, voice softened from sleep.

You smile. “Perfectly well. Thanks for letting me stay with you.”

Newt looks down at you softly, as if he never wants to look away. For some reason, his stare doesn’t seem nearly as hard a weight to carry as those of the other Gladers.

“No problem,” he murmurs, “you’ve never been a burden.”

For some reason, you feel the need to look away. It’s all just a little too much at once, and it’s too early in the morning for you to properly put into words how much you’re feeling at this moment. Newt must notice this, because he hurriedly mentions something about how you’d probably better get back into your hammock so no one suspects anything.

You try not to feel sad about him kicking you out, but one glance at him as you pull yourself out of his arms cures you of anything. Newt still looks at you like the first flower of the spring, and that sight alone lets you leave your worries behind.

You’re still thinking about that night well into the morning, and when it comes time for the lunch break, you scarcely even notice the stares of the other boys. There was some reason, surely, why Newt is always so willing to help you, why his mere presence feels like enough to keep you safe against any threat.

You’re so lost in thought that you almost don’t notice one of the Gladers stalking towards you across the center field. Newt may be the person you trust the most, but Alby, too, is someone you’ve never feared. Of course, that could be the fact that Alby’s so busy trying to make sure the Glade doesn’t run itself into the ground that he scarcely has time to look at you, but you still have faith in him anyway.

You’re fully expecting Alby to walk right past you and go deal with another problem on his list of thousands, but instead, he takes a seat next to you, all but throwing himself down with relief at what must be the first time he’s not standing since dawn.

You arch a brow at the boy, but Alby starts speaking of his own accord within a few seconds. “I want you to know that I was talking with Newt, and we’ve agreed that Paul should face punishment for what he tried to do last night. Even if we don’t know for sure that he was going to do anything, he was acting suspicious, and at any rate it’ll be a good example for the rest of these hoodlums that they need to stay clear of trouble.”

You nod slowly, but Alby isn’t done. “Also, I need to talk to you about Newt.”

You sit a little straighter, feeling oddly nervous although you’re not sure why. “What about Newt?” You ask cautiously.

Alby’s eyes lock on yours. “Listen, Newt has been my second in command for a long time, and for good reason. He’s one of the only actually good guys we have here. For that reason, he deserves happiness far more than the rest of us. That’s why I need to talk to you.”

He breaks off, looking at you expectantly. You’re not entirely sure what he wants you to say.

“Newt is a great guy,” you say hesitantly, “but I don’t really know what you want me to do about that.”

Alby sighs. “I don’t want to betray his confidence, but Newt likes you. That’s been obvious for a while, but I wouldn’t say a thing if I wasn’t sure that you like him too. Look, just talk to him about it, alright? I don’t want my friend tearing himself to pieces over you if he doesn’t have to.”

You lean back, startled. “What are you talking about? Newt doesn’t like me. And I, uh, don’t like Newt. Not like that.”

You’re not sure that you do a good job of convincing either of you, though.

Alby actually smiles for the first time since you’ve seen him. “Yeah, sure. Just talk to him. See what happens.”

With that, he stands up again, heading towards a group of Bricknicks arguing over the best way to fit supplies into an already stuffed storage shed. Alby’s work may never be done, but you think you can help him with at least one thing.

Newt is just starting his noon break when you find him. It’s easy enough to ask Newt to talk and lead him away from the rest of the Track-Hoes, but it’s far harder to actually come up with the right words to say once you’re alone. To his credit, Newt has never made you feel awkward, but it’s difficult to tell him that you think you might love him if you’ve only actually realized it about ten minutes ago.

At last, you give up on pleasantries and decide to just get the whole thing over with. “Newt, I”ve been thinking.”

Newt hazards a joke. “Always a good thing, from what I hear.”

You make a face at him, which makes him smile. “Stop that. Anyways, I was thinking. Thinking about us.”

Newt cocks his head to the side. “What does that mean?”

You groan. “Well, I could tell you if you stopped interrupting me.”

Newt grins. “My bad. Go on, then. What about us?”

You take a slow breath, then continue. “What if we could be more than just, you know, friends? I mean, I didn’t even realize it until recently, but last night, you made me feel more safe than anyone ever has, and I really like being with you all the time, and–”

You’re cut off by Newt gently kissing you. The stress of trying to find the right words leaves you in a rush, and what you’re left with is calm, pure and simple. It’s the sort of calm you always feel around Newt, the kind of feeling that makes you realize that you are going to be alright.

When you look up at him, Newt is smiling. “I’ve been wanting to hear you say that since the day you showed up here, you know that?”

You laugh. “There’s no way you’ve liked me that long.”

“Of course there is,” he says, “you made it very easy to like you. You always have.”

There’s another feeling you’re coming to associate with loving Newt, a sort of heat in your cheeks and butterflies in your stomach that makes you feel lighter than air. You feel it now, and you’re fairly sure that you’re going to feel it for a long time to come. Loving Newt is the easiest thing in the world. It’s a good thing that he feels the exact same way.

very selfishly would love more of ur thoughts on oscar accommodating and mirroring lando.... as an insane landoheadTM ive been watching lando slowly match oscar's energy in the past year and its been driving me insane and ur SO right that oscars done the same thing!! kind of crazy kind of losing my mind would love to get more thoughts out of u

god there are so many Angles and Frameworks and Contexts through which it is possible to examine 814's dynamic that i constantly feel unhinged about it. and probably sound unhinged as well…… pls note that all of this is pure insanity from my insaneperson brain ⚠️ ;__; ok where to begin.

to me the thing about 814 mirroring each other is that in reality it's actually a metaphor for many different things ❗️ on one hand you can interpret it Literally as in a strictly physical sense—the idea of mirroring someone as running parallel and positioning yourself firmly opposite each other, as constructing intricate rituals in order to NOT touch the skin of other men, being so specifically magnetically repulsed that any contact is accidental and fleeting and causes you to spring away as quickly as you'd met. but then there is also the other sense of mirroring that is….. more amorphous and conceptual, e.g. how oscar has in many ways indirectly orbited lando his entire career and how although they've only been teammates for a year now lando has technically been a primary reference point of his throughout a majority of his teens. AND what i think is so interesting about that too is that if you look back at oscar's Evolution As A Person, you could argue that he's been purely Himself As He Is Now for a very long time... yes there've been minute fluctuations in maturity and just general cringeness and muscle growth and cheek fat etc. etc. but at least outwardly in how he communicates with other people and displays his mentality / innate habits / mannerisms he's basically been his fully realized adult self since he was like 17??? which obviously cannot be said of lando norris who has grown massively in appearance and perspective and assuredness and so on from the ages of 17 to 21 to 24. yet this constantly evolving & changing your_choice_of_lorde_album Growing Pains lando has always been a sort of distant static fixed point in the future of oscar's mind… hmmm. that's just part of it tho

basically 814 as they are now are sooo fascinating to me because again They Do Not (Consciously) Touch but they've still very gradually managed to build off the foundations of oscar's subconscious teenage mirroring by turning it into something… well perhaps not quite fully intentional (and isn't that almost better in the end!!!) but certainly more self-aware and generally conscious. basically: the Negative Space of landoscar's demonstrated "affection" is where their reciprocity lies! if that makes sense.

and i guess what i'm trying to get at is that… on surface level, it's easy to say that 1) Oscar has always only ever been himself (generally true) and that 2) As the guy who came into f1 at 19 and was continuously expected to meet his more extroverted teammates' energies lando is the one who's habituated to experiencing marked change (also fairly true), but this still obfuscates equally important facets of their personalities: i.e. that oscar may be the more ~intellectually~ inclined of the two (which also who Cares. completely totally off-topic LOL but personal pet peeve of mine is people acting like there is a discernible difference between a-level maths and whatever private tutoring lando did after dropping out when their job title is lichrally F1 Driver…?! both are negligible fractions of fractions of whatever postgrad coursework the team's Actual engineers have done!!! but anyway), my personal argument is that really oscar is so consistently himself BY having zero concept of himself. whereas lando….. actually does possess a very strong inner character and intense, at times destabilizing self-awareness but also boasts a higher eq that enables a very high capability for social camouflage.

……????????? this is like a 10-paragraph intro. What am i getting at.

so basically. Yes. mutual accommodation……. i think my main point is that despite lando's strong baseline character and idiosyncrasies and particularities and fussiness and general weirdness, He Can, when necessitated, (as long as it doesn't completely contradict his moral impulse etc. etc.) soften that edge and adapt to another person's expectations—Even if just to maintain bearable social rapport & conversation. whereas on the other hand oscar can sometimes actually be a lot more malleable because he doesn't really hold strong conviction in much outside the few non-negotiables in his life ??? (read: racing...) like yes he's still competitive in challenges and is pedantic as shit but also he kind of just Doesn't care……. so basically he's the perfect fit for lando. because he DOESN'T expect anything from lando and lando DOESN'T need to camouflage himself for oscar and because oscar interprets things straight-forwardly and at face value and reads lando's intentions in good faith and honestly probably like 30% of lando's overthinking is a result of people constantly assuming the worst of him so i think on some level it's like 👉 👈 when you're both a little weird and also weird in these little different ways but in the end those minute shifts are what make you compatible and fit you back together again ?!?!?!? as i said it's the negative space of it all.

so really landoscar are not totally "opposites attract" but they're also not identical "mctwins" or whatever because Nuance and Secret Third Thing and what's truly critical about their mirroring is basically that 1) they don't EXPECT the other person to do it 2) they don't INTENTIONALLY do it and 3) it only happens because they're intensely aware of the other person's personality and mannerisms and appearances... bref IT'S ABOUT THE CATALOGUING!! like lando saw oscar in 2023 for the first time and immediately went oh you've gotten taller? oh you have big arms now? and they can't help pointing out each other's hair and ALSO >portrait painting (gets ko'd) "do you like purple?" "...uhhhh i can do now" like WHO SAYS THAT? ANDDDDD this was after oscar had picked purple to begin with but lando was like Nooo you can't do that :/ so oscar changed even though he'd argued that he'd "already committed to it" literal moments prior. Many such cases (i'm not finding a chair anyone?). they make me feel insane.

right let me just finish up with a few more moments (if you're still reading i'm sorry) but Vocabgifset is kind of a rough overview of how, at the very beginning, i think oscar did come in with a very undefined approach to How To Be A Teammate ? and was ready to treat lando as he'd treated rob and logan and fred and whomever and maybe even reflecting the atmosphere as reserve at alpine a little bit idk—essentially more visibly abrasive and pedantic and generally annoying. Also (ahem) perhaps how he'd seen lando act around carlos and daniel before... Guy who has carlando tweets in his twitter likes. 😔

but of course lando REALLYYY doesn't like being unnecessarily corrected over ultimately inconsequential things and again his demeanor is far from bombastic when it hasn't been demanded of him, so i think oscar quickly recognized that in his character and learned to just play along with what lando liked and wanted—not because he was preoccupied with lando getting annoyed at him or thought that lando was sensitive or whatever and not because he himself is a pushover because of course there is a healthy & endearing amount of push/pull to their dynamic but just because he sincerely respects lando and with that respect understood that he didn't need to "force" their dynamic when it would prosper by just being himself and more importantly letting lando be himself……….. Or something.

which imo is basically the basis of their current communication style: a lot of wordless meaningful looks & expressions (because they're both entirely honest people in different ways) (SEE: VIRGIN RADIO UK) (the thing Is that lando has no verbal filter but oscar is the one with 0 control of his expressions and deeply revealing permablush), oscar always folding to whatever lando says in an interview, jumping into frame and following along lando's message in the british f4 anniversary video, listening to lando's music through the walls of their driver rooms, and of course any instance of their Soft Talking Voices such as → "yeahhh you're up there" "aww (genuinely a little pleased and flustered)" and CAT 5 behind the scenes smoothie convo and oscar patiently waiting for lando to finish speaking and not wanting to enforce his presence but always being there and ready to help him….. like the worst part 2 me of the "well-represented" video is that andrea turns to lando first and tries to help him but lando is Still processing and Not listening so THEN he looks at oscar to be like um i don't know the word and that's when andrea looks back at oscar expectantly 🥲😭😩!!!!!!!! what if i dyed. honestly. the category is truly just oscar being susceptible to Lando Norris…………… i could go on.

also >RANDOM MOMENT TOTALLY NOT IMPORTANT but the yes/no challenge is so devastating on every conceivable level and yet One thing that i do not think is discussed enough! is the way oscar physically leans into lando's space on the table every time it's his turn to answer the questions and Specifically how in round 1 the media people were trying to get his attention to tell him to put the mic pack into his pocket but he was soooooooooo focused and fixated on lando's face right up until lando turned to speak to the camera that he didn't notice for like 3 minutes. GAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH. argh. the problem with oscar is that he's SINCERE. truly. "are you ready oscar piastri?" [zero hesitation whatsoever] "i am ready lando norris 🥰"

of course it's not like oscar doesn't introspect whatsoever because obviously he is very capable of self-assessing when something is important by an objective measure of success (aka recognizing deficits over a lap), but relative to lando's specific brand of overthinking & online lurking habits then oscar very much does.... basically underthink??? yes he overcomplicates simple ideas by being too literal but really as a person & conscious being he's great at living in the Present and filtering out excess noise. er... i won't delve too much into the ojp Learned Behaviors of it all and why he's so charming to older people specifically but basically Wwyd if an F1 driver microdosed autisticswag? joking. mostly. but i def agree re: your tags that oscar is never actually consciously trying to be a WELL AKSHUALLY guy because it's just fundamental expressive compulsion alkdsfhaldfh.

also specifically one of my favorite tiny little 814 things OAT is when lando says something unexpected or ridiculous and oscar parrots it back all high-pitched and breathily and disbelievingly like? Girl. this is super jank but perhaps you understand....... 😔

in the end it's getting asked >what have you picked up from lando and oscar saying Well everyone hmmms but not in the Special Multifaceted Uniquely Expressive way that Lando does ! whom I not only know well enough to intimately recognize this mannerism from but have also elected to mention multiple times in this interview. and at the end of the day...? maybe that's romanze

Ninjago Ship Thoughts

First and foremost I’m gonna tell you my head-canons for the ninjas sexualities since it’s probably gonna affect my thoughts on the ships.

Cole - Gay - the entire “dad I’m a ninja” is so fucking queercoded so that’s my reasoning.

Kai - Bi - this man primarily flirts with women but he gives strong bisexual energy and I stand by that.

Zane - Pan - I don’t feel like Zane has a strong enough grasp on gender for it to affect who he dates.

Jay - Omni - I feel like he has a preference for women but I feel in my soul that he’s at least had a crush on a guy before.

Nya - Bi - I don’t know if she’s ever had a crush on a girl but a girl has definitely had a crush on her and she would not be opposed to dating a girl.

Pixal - Pan - I feel like she has a better grasp of gender than Zane but gender doesn’t affect who she likes.

All other characters are up in the air for me. I lean towards seeing lloyd as aroace but I’m not certain. Anyway I’m with my thoughts. (These are in no particular order)

(Jaya) Jay/Nya - let’s start with a canon ship! I like how this relationship is portrayed in later seasons and they have some cute moments earlier in the series, but I definitely like there relationship post Nadakhan the best (I’ve butchered the genies name I know it) Jaya is sweet and I’m happy that Nya was given strong characterizations outside of her relationship with men overall I’d say this is a solid 8/10.

(Pixane) - Zane/Pixal - I love this ship so much, she has half his fucking heart and there both so great. Zane and Pixar are both fully independent who love each other and there so cute. I think one appeal of this ship for me is that I can see the both as romantic or platonic partners because they both mean so much to the other. Anyway love this ship 9.6/10

(Kailor) - Kai/Skylor - I love Skylor she’s super cool but this pair really only interacts once and awhile to briefly flirt before they just go there separate ways. Obviously both of them are busy so it makes sense that they don’t get a lot of time together. Kai definitely had a crush on Skylor and I think Skylor reciprocated those feelings. There cut and interesting but don’t have as much development as they need for me to be compelled to be invested. Solid 6.5/10.

(Llorumi) - Lloyd/Harumi - these two have a fascinating dynamic that I think is really fun to watch but I cannot see them as romantic partners. I know some people see them as siblings and I really don’t see them that way. And again there really interesting as a duo and while I want the pair to heal and improve there relationship I don’t really want them to date. Overall 5/10 cool duo don’t see them as romantic.

(Lloykita) - Lloyd/Akita - It’s pretty cute, I love Akita so I do hope we see her again. There relationship feels like a summer relationship they have this brief sweet period of time together and they leave on good terms unsure if they’ll ever meet again or if the other will still have feelings if they do meet again. I also really like the idea of these to being together in a queer platonic way. It’s really cute and I love both of the characters individually so it’s a pretty solid ship in my opinion. 8/10 it’s sweet.

(Conia) - Cole/Vania - it feels like a lesbian and a gay man being best friends. I love these two I think there great friends and could even see them being platonic partners but like I don’t see them doing more than that. Solid 5/10 cool pair don’t see it as romantic.

(Lava) - Cole/Kai - There so cool and I think this ship is really fun. I think that these two are both really great characters who mesh well I can totally see them dating and think it’s a really cute ship. These two are bonding over there weird ass family lives and crippling self doubt! These two are a cute pair 9/10

(Bruise) - Jay/Cole - these two are so silly and honestly this is a cute ship. I think Cole was definetley involved in Jays realization that he wasn’t straight. I think this is a cute ship but not one I have super strong feelings on 7/10

(Mudshock) - Jay/Cole/Nya - the best solution for a love triangle is polyamory. That said I wasn’t a big fan of the love triangle but in Ninjago since Cole didn’t actually seem interested in Nya, and Nya only was interested in Cole cause a matchmaking system said so. These three are definitely great friends who joke about the love triangle and hang out but I don’t know that it’s my favorite ship. 6.7/10 Cute but not great.

(Polyninja) - Jay/Cole/Kai/Zane - I think this is probably one of the greatest things I have ever seen. All of these characters are so close and care for each other so much. Together they can help each other grow and thrive. It’s really an awesome ship solid 10/10

My friend says John wasn't really there in that season??

Yay, Lebanon! Yes, I've seen this theory floating around, and I think it's a good one. I think the theory came about because the reuniting of the four doesn't include a satisfyingly obvious confrontation. Overall, though, I think it has the subtle bones of how the dynamics would work between them, and they're fascinating.

As for it being "real" of not, my personal view is that him waking up in his car lends to it being real. I'm 100% behind the other interpretation as well, though!

If you'll humor me, I wanna ramble about the dynamics. I have dreams of writing fic about this someday, so puzzling it out is something of a pastime for me:

First, I read somewhere (I think it was @queermania) that 14x13 Lebanon as an episode is too ambitious. The idea of Lebanon-the-town being its own character deserved a separate episode, and the idea of John returning needs its own episode. And I agree completely. Really, the episode doesn't have time for satisfying confrontations.

==It's not revenge porn, and that's a little disappointing==

Overall, think the fandom balks at John's return because at worst, what we want is reciprocal revenge to be inflicted on John. At best, we crave a verbal sparring where he's taken to task for his past crimes.

Lebanon is neither of these.

So, it's easier to wrap up John's "best behavior" as ghostly wish fulfillment, and that certainly works for me. It's satisfying. (I also subscribe to the theory that Dean wishes for John in order for Mary to be happy.)

But for me, the long and the short of it is that I think it's more interesting and very telling that John's on his best behavior here. That implies...interesting things.

Mary's presence grounds him, and even then, he's still subtly passive-aggressive in ways I adore. I think their interactions have built-in conflict, and I think it works as is! I even think him catapulting back into his own time has a dark implication (below).

==Mary & John==

Mary does not batter John; she greets him with relieved kisses. I think that makes sense for Mary given what we know about her. Her anger manifests as cold and controlled. She does not tend to fly off the handle.

The past haunts her. Mary last saw John on a regular night at home. They had dinner together, kissed their kids goodnight, and went to bed with baby monitors and all. She misses that guy. She loves the man he was, his best self. Not his worst self. She read his journal, but that's something she knows in her head, not her heart. It'll take a while to square that man with this man. And even then, she might just try to love him through it. I think Mary is the kind of flawed, frustrating woman who might make excuses for John.

She rationalizes. She views herself as having made a lot of mistakes with the boys, too. John had "drunken rages and neglect," sure, but in season 12, she almost got Cas killed, lied to the boys, and then she became Mary!natural-born killer and almost shot them. She's going to rationalize.

Team hunting dynamics. I suspect that so long as they're not in a Particularly Dangerous Mission Mode, the dynamic is going to be Mary bossing John, not the other way around. She might square the past by expecting him to do penance to the boys as a family protector and attack dog. I actually think Mary might mistreat him! And she'd definitely put the things on him that she can't take. My thesis is that I think she'd wind up treating John a lot like how she treated Cas, mid-season 12 in First Blood. If they hunt together, they'd have to get to know each other as hunters, which would lead to a frustrating tug-of-war. (John cries a lot, even in the original run, and Mary goes stone-cold. She's gonna hurt his feelings and wound his pride. It's going to be tumultuous.) I think Mary would become the control freak, because she's the one who is now tied to the current life, the one with a hunting network, and the one with superior knowledge, etc.

EXAMPLES from cut scripts & aired transcripts

Mary & Cas in 12x01 Keep Calm and Carry On & 12x02 Mamma Mia:

Here, I think Mary instinctually moves to put familial duty & responsibility on Cas. I think she intuitively recognizes him as Dean's spouse, and so, his strength & support are available by-proxy to her.

I know this is mostly indirect evidence, but I suspect this is exactly how she'd treat John within the world of hunting.

Mary & Cas in 12x09 First Blood:

MARY: You left them. CASTIEL: No, I… Dean told me to go. The woman-- MARY: The one you lost? CASTIEL: I didn’t. I… I thought that she-- MARY: Stop making excuses. [Cas looks down, and Mary sighs heavily]

Back to John

I can imagine Mary making digs about him not knowing critical hunting fundamentals, and he'd make digs that he wasn't raised with as many resources as she was (a petulant shot at her lies). I find it more likely that he would sull up and eventually explode at her. Mary lied to him. That still hurts.

The critical blowup would happen when John finds out that Mary was even hunting while the boys were small. "I thought you were cheating. This is worse!" Mary didn't even give him a chance to fight for himself or to access the tools and knowledge to help defend his family. (She didn't trust him!) He never had the chance to even try! Etc etc. Messy!

I think Mary would get cold and judgy. Like Dean, she could even fall into idealizing/romanticizing her other hunting partnerships to make digs at John's shortcomings ("AU Bobby/AU hunters/the boys/Cas don't make mistakes like this. They've never let me down," etc etc.) Regardless of John's past crimes, I think she'd fall into expecting too much of John...I'm 99% certain of that. It's so juicy and crunchy!

AU Bobby? Sadly, I think with John back, she would drop AU Bobby like a hot potato. Sorry. Sucks for AU Bobby, but it seems like they were already broken up/going their separate ways in 14x11 Damaged Goods. (Lebanon is 14x13.) The hardened AU Bobby, unlike OG Bobby, would probably like John, which would be a horrible feeling for the boys.

==Sam & John==

Sam skirts around John's past misbehavior. It's uncomfortable. Two seconds later, John tries to get a rise out of Sam.

Sam puts it aside and chooses to love John anyway, to try to start fresh where they're at. I think that makes sense for Sam, because Sam likes to cut away and compartmentalize the parts of life he doesn't like. Sam dissociates. Sam doesn't want to talk about it. But I also think that, over time, John would keep digging until he found a pressure point to try and get Sam to explode at him. John is prodding at Sam to talk in a similar way that Sam prods Dean to talk.

By the way, I think John's apology is right in line with the tearful crybaby John we saw on our screens in seasons 1 and 2, too. John was volatile, but he wasn't always unemotional. (Remember when Pastor Jim died?) That's why he always felt so unpredictable as a caretaker.

SAM: Yeah, Dean and I tried to make that once. JOHN: I, um… I remember. I screwed up with you a lot, didn’t I? SAM: No, that’s okay. JOHN: No, it’s not. Sammy, tell me the truth. SAM: I don’t want to talk about that. JOHN: You didn’t have a problem talking about it before you left. SAM: Dad… for me? That fight… that was a lifetime ago. I don’t even remember what I said, and – I mean… yeah. You know what? You did some messed-up things. But I don’t… I mean, when I think about you… [voice breaks] and I think about you a lot… I don’t think about our – our fights. I think about you… I think about you on the floor of that hospital. And I think about how I never got to say goodbye. [JOHN puts his hand on SAM’s shoulder.] JOHN: Sam. Son. I am so sorry. SAM: I’m sorry, too. But you did your best, dad. You – you fought for us, and you loved us, and… that’s enough. [JOHN tearfully smiles at SAM and pats his shoulder.]

Team hunting dynamics. I think John would at times reach to undermine Sam's leadership, especially with the AU hunters. I think this could manifest in him being contrary to Sam's ideas. It'd be kinda like how AU Bobby balked at Sam's leadership skills, but to the power of ten.

If Mary's present, all bets are off. John submits to her. But if Mary's not there, he probably jumps right into questioning and nitpicking Sam's decisions. When that doesn't work, he approaches Sam through cold, hard logic, and that could potentially get Sam on his side. Sam is very swayed by moral relativism, and John would appeal to that. "We've all done things we regret." And once John digs up enough of Sam's mistakes, I think Sam would be swayed to give John another chance in order to avoid being faced with the dreaded hypocrisy.

Tension points: I don't think John would like Rowena at all, and that would be a point of tension between them. He'd make so many snide digs about her, mark my words. Rowena would hate John, too though, and that's where 90% percent of the fun would actually come from.

==Dean & John==

Dean is wary around John. There's no better word for it. John's presence makes Dean's home at the bunker feel insecure, like the ground is crumbling beneath his feet. The bunker is Dean's house, and he's already feeling shaky by having AU hunters there. At the point of Lebanon, Dean's got Michael locked in his head, pounding away at a locked door.

Lebanon happens right after Prophet & Loss, where Sam resorted to battering Dean with his fists to try to get him to care about himself. Dean's feeling extra, extra vulnerable. He'd be like a cornered animal with John in the house.

In Lebanon, Dean is upfront with John about their living situation:

JOHN: Then it’s all true. God, the devil, you boys smack in the middle. Now you live in a secret bunker with an angel and Lucifer’s kid. DEAN: Yeah.

Later, John is passive-aggressive with Dean, too, but it takes on a completely different dimension than it does with Sam. Sam and Dean both live with, "an angel and Lucifer's kid," but Dean is the one John "suspects something of," and so, like a gossiping church lady, he pokes. About relationships.

He's trying to figure out if Dean is...attached.

DEAN: Dad, we pulled you here. JOHN: No, son. My fight. It was supposed to end with me, with Yellow Eyes. But now you – you are a grown man, and I am incredibly proud of you. I guess that I had hoped, eventually, you would… get yourself a normal life, a peaceful life, a family. [DEAN nods. He smiles.] DEAN: I have a family. [JOHN smiles.] JOHN: Yeah. Alright. What’s next? DEAN: We eat. [DEAN leaves for the kitchen.]

Do I think John accepted that Dean has a family? Yeah, I actually kinda do. I think this conversation is just John confirming suspicions he already had. And Dean is patient with him about it. I suspect Dean's patience would turn into holding him at arm's length, and John would be spun by that.

I don't think John would act a homophobe. John liked Lee. Competence wins out for John. I favor John not being cartoonishly homophobic on a personal level so much as a societal one. I can see him rationalizing the thing with the nuns as him being scared of Dean enduring a difficult lifestyle re: the time periods they respectively grew up within.

But now? With all this acceptance? There's less reason to do that.

Household dynamics: I think that, right out of the gate, John does some boundary crossing. It's implied in the finale script that when John was with Mary, John was the cook. (He cooks pot roast!)

Seeing this human, empathetic side of John would be devastating. John tends to take over the kitchen, and Dean feels pushed out. John is funny, just as Mary said he was. It'd be like entering an upside-down world. (And if John is like this now, why weren't Sam and Dean enough for him to even try?)

John & Cas & Jack

Because John is doing public "penance," and because Dean is sort-of icing him out, John would "work on" those closest to Dean: Cas and Jack. I can see John trying to suck up to Cas and Jack with a surprising degree of success!

Cas

With Cas, it'd be a rocky start. Maybe it starts when John outright demands that he wants Cas's truck when he sees it in the garage. Then, he's aggressive towards Cas and suspicious of his angelicity.

But ultimately, Cas's competence and gray-rock method of communicating win John over, and when he wins John over, he wins him over in a big way. John even seems to trust Cas more than Sam and Dean, and that gets ugly.

Oddly enough, I think he'd take to Cas way more readily than he'd take to someone like Rowena. Cas is a soldier. When John learns that, he tries to awkwardly soldier-bond with Cas, using marine lingo and making crass male-bonding jokes at Dean's expense. (Super weird, super disrespectful, and super awkward!)

There's also some stuff in Cas that reminds John of Henry Winchester, which makes it even more complicated. Like Mary, he senses Cas's spousal dynamic with Dean, and because of Cas's angelic strength, he also expects too much of Cas. (Poor Cas!)

I think the result would be Dean and Cas having big emotions about it, because Dean needs to get out of the bunker a lot, and he'd cling extra hard to Cas as a reflex to John's pushy "trying to steal my best friend," stuff.

Jack

I think John'd spoil Jack, kind of like he did with Adam. Jack represents a clean slate, a new chance to bond with a son. John wouldn't spoil him in a lovey-dovey way, either.

I think he'd key into what Jack is missing, and provide the, "You did good today/that was nice work/I'm proud of you," stuff. Jack values blunt honesty and tough love, so long as it's paired with a sliver of respect. John could worm his way in so fast if he really wanted to!

Dean would probably hit his limit with John trying to get close to Jack and step in. But Jack would painfully point out that when Cas came back, Dean changed, too.

"You said it yourself Dean. 'We're gonna make mistakes. Nobody's perfect. Right?' You said, 'We can get better. Every day, we can get better.' Why can't he?"

(This, of course, comes back to bite Jack in the ass.)

Due to where Lebanon occurs in the timeline, Jack is human-ish, but when John discovers the AU Michael situation and what Jack's Nephilim capabilities were, John gets pragmatic at Jack's expense. Perhaps, they decide to rescue Adam together, to secure the OG Michael to fight the AU Michael? I can come up with all sorts of terrible things John and Jack might get up to together "for the greater good."

On the whole, John is intel-gathering. Under the guise of bonding, he's collecting a list of Dean's, Sam's, Cas's, and Mary's worst mistakes to use as ammo and rationalization...if he ever needs it.

And the thing is, John's bonding is simultaneously genuine. He's defensive and damaged, but some of his better intentions are so ugly because of that.

==John goes back to the past, though. What are those pesky implications you mentioned?==

Well, like I said in the beginning, in the actual episode, John wakes up in the past. That softly implies it was "real." He tells a worried past!Dean that he, "had a good dream."

But the implication is that John is now even more certain that his revenge is the righteous path. Look how safe and strong Sam & Dean turned out! He's convinced now: even though he hurt them, his methods were the right ones.

This doesn't remind me of him because I wouldn't want to ruin it for myself, but I can imagine a sad montage of interregnum LWJ set to I Am Stretched On Your Grave. Anyway, my proper answer is Frostrósir by Eivør. It's in Faroese, which I do not speak, but I pinched something from here:

We have an answer to this in canon and it's sandalwood, so I don't have much to add.

I mean, it is the central point of the novel. But even aside from that, LWJ is consistently only ever interested in WWX. I'm not saying he shouldn't be interpreted as gay, but I am saying that even if he is gay it's secondary to his actual sexual identity which is Weiyingsexual. I'm not treading any new ground here.

Personally I don't find Wangxian interesting, but I at least believe they love each other and are compatible in the sense that they are both selfish in slightly different ways that mesh well for their own private universe. Not so great for others in their orbit, but part of that is authorial fiat so I try to be fair about what I hold against them.

I don't think CQL successfully executed the changes it made to Wangxian in having them click and partner up from the beginning, but I do think it was necessary to at least attempt to rebalance the relationship. In MDZS, WWX genuinely does not reciprocate LWJ's feelings in his first life beyond a very deeply buried and not particularly inevitable spark. His first life is really centred on his relationships with JC and JYL and they are the tragic 'romance' (in the traditional sense). LWJ only gets upgraded during the second life. Kind of awkward to do your sweeping romance if it isn't a romance in the 35+ episodes of flashbacks, so I don't blame them for trying. And I do like the Colin Firth vibes WYB brought to his LWJ.

Aside from not finding the idea of LWJ with anyone else convincing, let me take the opportunity to pettily sideswipe at Chengxian and shoving LWJ in to make it what? Wangchengxian? Is that what it's called? Either way, nooooooo thank you. You can't get much more fraternal than WWX and JC's idiot bickering, and even if they weren't such classic stupid boys together, JC and LWJ loathe one another with the kind of loathing that does not give way to a rendition of I've Grown Accustomed To Her Face. (Incidentally, in the original stage version Eliza walks out on Higgins never to return, and it is awesome.)

favorite platonic/familial relationships

Obviously it's his relationship with LXC (and by extension LQR?). Just absolutely fascinating. Their rapport is very sweet, as is LXC's protectiveness and gentle trolling. LWJ is not a particularly good didi, but LXC both doesn't notice and doesn't mind.

Actually, someone once made a meme for me in relation to this, let me dust it off and drag it out:

More seriously, though he was also raised with harsh discipline, in comparative terms LWJ is the spoilt baby of the family. As is often the result when we encounter morally rigid characters in MDZS, he is also in many respects hypocritical. Clearly I have a lot of negative things to say about him as a brother to LXC, but I'm not interested in demonising him and what's really interesting about it is that by and large this uneven dynamic works for the Twin Jades. Right up until it doesn't.

When LXC really needs LWJ to come through for him, he just doesn't. I'm not even talking about LWJ's behaviour leading up to and during the Temple, which is objectionable in the sense that he refuses to give JGY the benefit of the doubt that LXC extends to WWX. No, I'm talking about the fact that he bods off for literal months after LXC has just been through the worst experience of his life and lost his closest friend and partner. And I don't want to hear it about LXC being the elder and having a responsibility to take care of LWJ. LWJ owes consideration to his big brother and clan leader, even if that consideration might take a different form.

Here's a thought experiment. After WWX's first death, when LWJ has been whipped 33 times by the discipline whip and dragged himself to rescue LSZ and branded himself in drunken grief, can you imagine LXC bodding off for three months without a word to have picnics with JGY? It's inconceivable isn't it.

I didn't intend for this section to become a hit piece on LWJ and he obviously does love his brother, but in terms of actions it is somewhat of a one way street. The fact that LXC has no other expectations doesn't protect LWJ from my croc-hatted judgement face.

a headcanon that is popular in the fandom but that i disagree with

Righteous LWJ. Oh, please. In MDZS, righteousness goes hand in hand with hypocrisy, and though I doubt MXTX the human being intended LWJ to be read as thoroughly selfish, the (translation of) the text she wrote is a depiction of a profoundly selfish man. And that's not a bad thing, because his selfishness coupled with the occasions when he is genuinely altruistic makes him more interesting than if he really were a moralising ice cube with a ribbon tied around it.

a crossover au i’d love to see them in

I'm going to be lazy and suggest X-Men AU again just because his secondary power would definitely be organic diamond form like Emma Frost. I don't think he'd also be a telepath, but the idea of that is funny because he could read WWX's mind and know for certain that WWX isn't (currently) into him. But as a serious answer, organic diamond form as a secondary power and then primary power the same as Alison Blaire. I see no reason why his mutant name wouldn't be Dazzler too.

my favorite outfit they’ve ever worn

I think he only has like one outfit. I'm sorry, I'm not cool enough to be able to distinguish between different varieties of plain white robes. In CQL I prefer first life LWJ because they put that massive ornament on second life LWJ's head to make him look older and taller but actually they created an unfortunate perspective effect where he just looks even shorter.

so i think that mimi immediately crushes on ayane - it's a bit unusual because her type is the more loud and rash woman, usually older than her, but she thinks that there's something really endearing about ayane and it takes her by surprise. she likes how elegant and sweet she can be and becomes protective over her, which is strange, as she is usually the one that is being protected. i like the idea of them becoming closer slowly over time. maybe ayane lets mimi brush and style her hair because mimi finds it fascinating as she doesn't have hair herself, loves the dark and soft feel of it - it becomes a relaxing and unwinding activity for the two of them. they open up to each other. and then also in time, perhaps mimi would give ayane more flamboyant makeovers and ply ay with drinks until she's giggling and falling over as they dance together. i love that they have similar blue eyes and soft complexions, and i like the idea of them being able to appreciate their beauty in one another. i think ayane would find mimi a bit overbearing at times though, and mi would push her luck in trying to get ay to come out of her shell. she enjoys watching sweet ayane becoming flustered over her! but it can be difficult for ayane to cope with. but she gets used to her, and maybe ayane finds herself becoming attached to mimi. i don't know if ayane would ever act on her feelings as she likely wouldn't really understand them. she may convince herself that she sees mimi in a sisterly way, she's much more openly upfront and playful that luciana can be and it's a dynamic ay isn't really used to and latches on to. i think she'd find it nice to be flirted with and cared for in the way mimi treats her, but maybe not reciprocating the feelings in a sexual sense because it's not territory she's explored previously and she can be shy and like you said, nervous. maybe they have some heated moments when mimi's fingers brush against ayane's neck in a specific way, when she drinks from a glass they share and notices mimi's lipstick on the rim, feels her lips as if it's the closest she'd ever get to kissing her. ayane zips up one of mimi's dresses and brushes her fingers against her bare back. small things that make her ask herself - what if? i also like the idea of mimi seeing the darker side to her and suddenly being a bit intimidated by her, realising that she underestimated her. that she has a depth to her she didn't see before. i think that ayane would find mimi's attentions flattering, and they'd have a deep friendship that would teeter occasionally into more romantic territory, but they don't necessarily act on it. mimi watching ayane grow and become an unyielding woman as she embraces her power, feeling a pride over her in a way she may not even be entitled too, wondering where the years went and what would have happened if she kissed her that one night on the beach, or after her show, or in the corner of lu's bar in the early hours of the morning. it's believable to me that their relationship would be such new ground for them both that they would struggle to even acknowledge what they could be. this sounds kind of sad but it's not, they have a deep understanding and respect of one another, know each others vulnerability in a way no one else does. they really see each other on an emotional level because they have such strong feelings that other people don't necessarily experience. i think they'd have a soft will-they-won't-they situation that results in a beautiful friendship with occasional heated moments. i think they would be too busy understanding themselves through one another to ever have the capacity to love each other in an open, more conventional way. their love transcends sex or monogamy. it's pure girlish joy and sisterhood 💗

before i go to bed, its time for me to write my 4AM essay thoughts about an old ass comedy webshow again!

tonight's thoughts: why i love the finale arc A LOT

so i know it's not as earnest as the road trip arc and sick day arc, but finale to me is extremely important to the show and adds LOTS of layers of complexity to the dynamic of their characters that i find REALLY important.

first things first: one of my favorite episode types in Jake and Amir is the episodes where the audience goes, "oh, so that's why they are friends". IE - translator being one of my favorites

now, a lot of the other arcs of the show (both sick day and road trip and even Fired) center around jake leaving amir. amir is just there wanting jake to come back, waiting for him to realize he's actually his friend, or to show he actually cares. it's really sweet emotionally because OF COURSE jake always comes around, but to me it puts the characters on this uneven footing. jake has to have this realization that he likes amir, and amir simply has to wait for jake to pity him or miss him enough so he can progress forward. because he's almost this weird level of incapable and unlikable without someone like jake.

in contrast, the finale arc finally puts the characters on even footing narratively imo. the first episode already shows that jake is just as incompetent as amir because it's not like he's been doing work, and they are both equally socially hated. not only does it show that jake is oddly fond of amir enough to argue day in and day out and adopt his lingo, it shows why he is - because he's also a loser. this is a very important fact to me and it's established extremely well throughout the finale. the audience IMMEDIATELY gets why they are friends.

secondly, the plot is pushed forward by amir's pitches, his direction, and his own film. i think it gives him agency as a character, especially the power lunch episode. jake honestly doesn't really have to be there for the finale for it to make sense. but he is. and i think that's important - that amir has the capability to function without jake, to be liked and to progress in life without him - but he chooses not to to be with jake. and jake, for reasons established in the previous paragraph, also chooses not to to be with amir.

when they ultimately get fired, it's not about who's leaving. when they get fired, they get fired together. jake simply accepts that. and i think that's super interesting. jake could have stopped amir at any point - why did he even go along with this? he clearly knew he would get fired. he knew. there is only the conclusion that he's grown from road trip, from sick day, from all that. in a sense, the weird belief and trust he has in amir is... a reciprocation of amir's reverence for him. like hes not just FOND of amir’s mannerisms (ie his rap he wrote in jakes ipod in sick day), he truly actually sees him as an equal in terms of ideas. i think that's fascinating and also sets the characters on more even footing than sick day or road trip.

and, well, this is less character based, but i love the exploration of history. we see a little bit of it in road trip when jake opens the paper ozenenz bag, but we don't get it the same way as the finale. the finale is a testament to all the memories they've had throughout the series, but more than that, it's a testament to the earnesty and charm of the early episodes that got them both here. i feel like road trip made it more about jake's random memories of amir which added up (which is very sweet still). finale made it more about that first moment where everything clicked for them IN and OUT of universe with the callback to the beer episode. it was an acknowledgement of a SPECIFIC friendship moment that meant a lot to them both.

i guess, then, the keyword for me is BOTH when it comes to the finale arc. i want it to be very clear that the sole reason they are together is because they chose to have each other and/or because no one else would ever choose them. they chose to be toxic and codependent. they could have had different lives. and i think the road trip and sick day arcs clearly show jake chooses to be with amir, but the finale arc solidifies that amir chooses to be with jake right back in a way where he isn't just "helpless and stupid". yeah he's obsessed. yeah he's insane about jake. but he had the opportunity to allieviate himself from that knowingly, and he never has. he'd rather suffer thousands of days of jake being mean to him, knocking down his ideas, thinking he's stupid and crazy, challenging him... than be anywhere fucking else.

ending on "dinner tonight?" just fucking blows it out of the park in my mind too. because it shows the characters have been through SO MUCH and they've CHANGED entirely - to the point where we DONT know the answer that Jake gives! we know his old self would have said NO of course - while at the same time showing how little has changed. so fucking heartwarming.

anyways. i personally love finale arc.

i am not at all involved in jegulus fandom spaces because it’s scary out there but in my own head with my own understanding of those characters, i love them because it’s a ship that’s so much about safety. regulus (and sirius, which is why i also love prongsfoot) grew up not being safe, and james grew up adored and respected by everyone, and especially in a kinky context i love the idea that they can challenge that initial dynamic with each other. where can they feel powerful that’s different from their childhood? where can they feel degraded safely or in a new way, in what way can they be messy or strong or taken care of.

i also think they make each other more interesting, in an opposites attract way. james’ golden boy status is one that i feel very wary of, in the way people like that in real life are often choosing to ignore or actively participating in harm in order to maintain that status. but i see him as making a lot of very careful choices to be a safe person, and he’s like completely obsessed with this weird ass prickly boy and that shows how he’s safe, and in what ways he’s safe. and i think james helps regulus not disappear too far into himself and into the dark side, because he’s a touchpoint and he’s trustworthy and regulus can be that too when it’s reciprocal and not abusive like his family.

i personally hc regulus as transmasc and autistic and like unfriendly and mean and genuinely dark sometimes, and james as very normative externally but he’s genderqueer, and aspec, and not comfortable with the pureblood and academic/wizarding elite norms, and adhd but in a way people don’t notice enough, so he does a lot of masking (which is very much like my partner and i). and i love that they can be really seen by each other and put that shit down and be safe.

idk! this might be controversial! i don’t know what other people out there think. but this is my take!

also, fwiw, a lot of the above are similar reasons to why i love drarry. and/or, is why i love queer and trans slash fandom and slash fic in general. can always find a way to make it about us keeping each other safe.

This was so lovely and moving to read, thank you anon for sharing your thoughts! I love the freedom that fandom gives us in that sense, as in it allows us to take ownership over works to make them safer and more inclusive. There’s something really empowering about making fandom a symbol of resistance and hope for the queer and trans communities, even more so in the HP fandom. I’m so happy that you found comfort in this ship! As I said I’m not familiar with Jegulus at all, but I’ve noticed that quite a few people follow the Drarry -> Jegulus or the Jegulus -> Drarry journey and I think it’s really fascinating to think how these ships can converge, diverge or complement each other.

The creator of the seven deadly sins also conceptualised seven virtues that combated each sin. How would the brothers react to MC being Avatar of the virtue that directly countered their sin? Genre: Fluff Word Count: 1.8k

Lucifer (Avatar of Humility)

Lucifer already knew of the Avatars of Virtue, Diavolo had mentioned them in passing at meetings but he never thought Diavolo would have the gall to incorporate them into the student exchange program, and that was if they actually existed

You were nothing short of fascinating and elusive. Were you an angel? A demon? Angel turned demon? Demon turned angel or an entirely different species? Could humans be Avatars? Perhaps it was you living up to your virtue but you didn’t speak of it

He tried to be composed, really. He refused to admit how the most powerful of all brothers was reduced to being this petty but your very existence was the antithesis of his, you challenged his presence, his superiority just by breathing

Naturally he was sceptical of you, he’s done so much to protect his family, he wasn’t going to let it be undone by a powerful being he’s never met in his millennia of existing. But you never seemed to have such intentions, always greeting him politely. All the brothers were taking a liking to you and he felt alone in this battle only he waged

The dynamic between you two was like Satan and Lucifer, only you were Lucifer and he was Satan discreetly trying to provoke you. He wanted you to slip up, see your façade crack, give him the pride that he won against the one who goes against everything he stands for and reveal your true nature

But you lived up to your virtue, never taking his challenges to heart or trying to reciprocate. In fact you found it all rather amusing given Lucifer’s reputation of being so callous and uptight. You laughed at the idea of him fussing over you which only frustrated him further

It was only after one faithful conversation, as you picked up the broken shards of the brothers’ relationships with each other and helped fix their family, did Lucifer realise he misunderstood you

“Rather bold of you, isn’t it?” Lucifer asked in a feeble attempt to provoke you, yet he still tried. He called you to his office to discuss your grades and behaviour in school, despite you having done nothing wrong. “Passable results, excellent reputation, Diavolo has done nothing but praise your presence. Do you get enjoyment out of that? To have people worship the ground you walk on?”

“They don’t,” you deadpanned. “Lucifer, why did you really call me here?”

“My brothers have taken a liking to you,” he said simply. “I wish to understand what’s so endearing about my… opposite.”

“I think you misunderstand,” you let out a sigh with a sad smile. “My virtue and your sin aren’t isolated. We both exist on the same scale, and we individually go from one side of the scale to the other.”

“So you admit to indulging in pride?” Lucifer’s head instinctively tilted up, looking down at his nose at you.

“Only as much as you indulge in humility.”

Your voice took a different tone, it was softer, more subdued. You were averting his gaze.

“Oh? Do enlighten me.”

“I don’t think it’s in my place to say…”

“Say it.”

“A being of pure pride would have never sacrificed so much for his family.”

The pin dropped, and as you kept your gaze down to your hands in your lap, you could feel the burn on your face as Lucifer stilled, staring at you. If you were wiser you would have stopped talking but the deafening silence spurred you on.

“The secrets you kept for the sake of your brothers is no small feat. But I think what was more telling was your doubt. When you asked me what I would’ve done in those circumstances, it told me you had the humility to know that you weren’t sure you had done the right thing, and you were ready to be told that. Very few are able to accept fault anymore.”

Lucifer was silent for a few moments.

“Rather bold of you to confront the Avatar of Pride.”

You sent him a knowing smile.

He still lives up to his pride to an extent. He won’t ever sit you down to apologise for misunderstanding you and likely never will, but his apology is displayed with how he initiates conversations with you, or admits that his paperwork is too overwhelming and you’re the only one he trusts enough to help him with his workload

The two of you often exchanged horror stories that you’ve had with your respective Avatars. It seems you also had to do babysitting to the extreme due to your fellow Avatars which made Lucifer gain a lot of respect for you

Sometimes your virtue does bother Lucifer. Many times you downplay your achievements or let your ideas be claimed by others. He’s extremely attentive and ensures everyone is aware of your contributions and that you get the credit you deserve

Being your counterpart is now a badge of honour for him. Of course only someone as powerful as you, as reputable and determined would be fit to be the Avatar that opposed him. He would want no one else to be his other half

Satan (Avatar of Patience/Mercy)

Satan had read in ancient texts of the fabled Avatars of Virtue, but he didn’t think they were real, nor that he’d see one in real life, but he figured it would make sense to have a direct antithesis to the sins

He’s well mannered enough to greet you each morning and treat you politely, but he spoke with a formality that kept you two at arms length. Perhaps it was the pride he inherited by Lucifer, but your mere existence felt like a personal challenge

Overall, he felt conflicted. To simultaneously take pride as Avatar of Wrath yet wanting to be someone more than just a single emotion, he found himself at a loss at whether he should open up to you, to gain your perspective and perhaps embrace this new virtue, or to further invest himself into wrath

He ended up leaning into the former, it wasn’t too difficult. He had learnt to be rather patient in day to day life (something he had no choice to learn given his brothers), the two of you got along very well

Still, for a decent amount of time he subconsciously thought of you as inferior. Not in a hateful way but of endearing yet condescending pity, “Oh, you poor little thing, getting walked over by everyone as you gloss over everyone’s wrongdoings. Is being the Avatar of Mercy not what it’s cracked up to be?”

But he learnt to genuinely respect and cherish you. Little did he know, just as he was versed with your virtue, you were well versed in his sin

Satan escorted you to the R.A.D. building where you were immediately greeted by a lower demon, a R.A.D. student with a smirk on their face.

“Hey (Y/N), can I borrow your maths textbook for today?”

Satan looked at you, your face was unreadable, neutral, only with the corners of your lips slightly lifted to look open and welcoming.

“Didn’t you borrow it yesterday?”

“Yep.”

“And didn’t you get it torn to shreds without reason, meaning I had to search all of Devildom to get a new one before this morning?”

The demon laughed dryly. “I guess so! That was me. Anyway, if I could get the book-”

“No.”

Satan stared at you in surprise. Admittedly, he had only known you for a week or two by now, but with how nice you had been greeting the infamous demon brothers, part of him expected you to be a pushover. The fatal flaw to your virtue undoing you.

“I- what? But you’re the Avatar of Mercy! You’re meant to forgive everyone and everything and all that!”

“Of course,” you giggled. “I always forgive.”

You took a daring step forward towards the lesser demon.

“But I wouldn’t have to forgive you if you never disappointed me to begin with, hm?”

And then Satan saw it. In that moment, he felt how your being was filled to the brim with magic, magic that all should be grateful you didn’t unleash impulsively. Magic that should only be given to someone who would use it sparingly, fitting for the Avatar of Patience. You may have been smiling but your eyes held a malicious glint, an unspoken threat. The promise of unbridled wrath if they ever failed you again.

It was absolutely terrifying.

And Satan loved it.

“Run along now, don’t fail me again.”

The demon, sensing your magic potential, left the scene without another word.

As you watched the lesser demon turn the corner, Satan cleared his throat. You turned back to him, your face nothing but sweet and caring. Given the past display, he felt all the more grateful that this was how you looked at him, he ended up mirroring your expression.

“It seems I’ve underestimated you,” Satan states, earnestly putting a hand to his chest. “I hope you can forgive me for my assumptions.”

“You’re forgiven, I’m willing to display mercy for all who deserve it,” you nodded to him before looking away with a distant gaze. “I suppose I should apologise too. At first I was terrified of you as the Avatar of Wrath. But I’ve seen now, how I am capable of wrath, you are more than capable of mercy. We’re really just two sides of the same coin, aren’t we?”

“I think you might be onto something there."

After that, Satan was much more open, going out to invite you to his new book ventures or asking you to join him to see the new stray cat just outside R.A.D.

One of his favourite pastimes is the two of you sitting together in his room, pulling out the wildest myths and legends of each other’s Avatars and seeing if they’re indeed true. Many nights spent just laughing at the ridiculous rumours that have emerged over time

The two of you together have become an item that many have learnt to fear. As much as you keep each other both in check, the moment the two of you agreed that it was time to unleash your wrath, anyone with self preservation should run

Satan had gained a deep understanding of you and vice versa, but he still felt you didn’t truly know the depths of his anger, simply because he never let it show. You’ve seen his demon form, you’ve seen his magical potential, but as much as he wants to let you closer to him, he holds the fear that not even the Avatar of Mercy can forgive he whose very conception is a sin

In those moments he’s more intimate, holding you closer after inviting himself into your room. How ironic the one who invokes these insecurities is also the one who relieves him from them. You truly are his other half

whether it’s common knowledge or not taurus & sagittarius share similarities with their blunt tendencies and their mindsets. sagittarius seeks knowledge and borders on being a gregarious know-it-all so it’s not as off-putting as a virgo’s knowledgable flex. however, they live by a certain moral code and uphold those values and taurus being fixed can have a similar mindset. what they believe to be “the way” of things is the only proper way. both signs can bond over this trait and even more so when they have similar views.

sagittarius & libra also share similar traits of avoidance. libra likes to maintain their idea of harmony and sagittarius isn’t fond of dealing with topics that they’ve made their mind up on but haven’t communicated yet, which will likely serve as a disruption of some sort of existing dynamic.

pisces placements have been told time and time again to firmly set a boundary, but they famously don’t like confrontation, so they should practice articulating what they won’t do/tolerate as a boundary. instead of approaching something as a request “don’t do xyz, i don’t like when you xyz” they should try “i won’t engage with xyz, i won’t remain where xyz” it transfers the power back to them instead of giving it to the person. they can benefit from empowering themselves, because often times they’re very good (much like libra) at dissecting a situation and then empathizing and understanding someone else’s view over their own. ultimately, becoming a disservice to themselves and building a resentment to whatever is the root of the problem. they’ll even convince themselves that they’re okay with it, they need to ask themselves what they value more: themselves or maintaining someone else’s harmony?

not sure if it’s been discussed before, but as many of us know each sign takes something from the sign before it, which is why pisces get teased for being “cr*zy” because they have a little bit of everyone and aries is called the baby since they’re the first. however, did you know that taurus’ fascination with food and heavy association with it most definitely comes from aries? think about how many amazing BAKERS specifically, you know what are most certainly aries suns if not aries in the big 3. the combination of foods and flavors made into one dish? heaven. the presentation is so marvelous too, but there’s no beating the taste.

cancers make ultimate hoarders, because it started with taurus’ inclination and value in the material/tangible possession, followed by gemini’s inquisitive nature and collector of knowledge, their possessions are both tangible and intangible, leading to cancer who adds an extreme level of sentimentality to the things they acquire especially if it’s been gifted to them. the memory is strong and it’s attached to the possession which serves as a vessel. the memory will surely exist regardless, but having it in their world and not just their emotional storage means so much more to them.

speaking of gifts, leo turns the appreciation of receiving that they got from cancer, into the love of giving to others. they know how special they feel when they get something, they love recreating that feeling as an expression and testament of gratitude and love to whoever it is that’s earned such.

on the topic of leo placements , they most certainly need the love they show to FEEL appreciated and SHOWN a similar effort when it comes to reciprocation. leo really is a bottomless pit of love, but it will run dry if they quickly realize that it’s one sided or the person/people they’re showing it to are soaking it in and expecting it. ALSO is leo feels like you don’t appreciate what they’ve given, it stings, but they’ll study you better or flat out ask so they can show up better the next time. however, if they catch on that the person they’re giving to is ungrateful, expect a direct confrontation. depending on how much the leo loves/cares about the person they will endure, because they are hesitant to lose that person, not because they don’t have self-respect, but they absolutely love the person and have seen what they can be and instantly believe that person will achieve that maturation. leo placements are great hype people because of this and they believe by being a cheerleader and supportive it’s the equivalent to talking to plants to encourage their growth and bloom into who they were always meant to be. sound familiar?

VIRGOS!!!!! facilitate their own heartbreak, because they’ve really honed in on that potential radar that they earned from leo. however, they learned it’s not just about cheering and uplifting, it’s pushing and assisting. virgo is the coach and where they see someone having the room to grow they’ll certainly work diligently, in their way, to help that person. now, the catch, said person has to ASK for the help/WANT it. virgo placements do this willingly/unsolicited, but then after a few bad run ins, they become more selective about who they choose. nothing crushes them more than wasted potential in someone else, but when a virgo has given up on you... you’re on your own. sometimes though virgo has to be told to back off, because while they see the potential, virgo has a clear idea in their mind and that may not be how the other person sees themselves/wants to approach their maturation.

aqua venus can be delusional in their approach to love. I know a constant rep they get is “friends to lovers” it’s not all cookie cutter. aqua venus also is penned for non-traditional love dynamics. aquas omit facts/truth more than they get called out for. aqua venus likes to study and weigh out their options and they’re not above stealing a friend from a relationship. (not all placements are like this, do not take this as a generalization, but this is something not talked about as often). air placements in general value connections. so if an aqua venus has a brilliant mental connection with a friend and you add attraction to it? all bets are off, they will double down in a very casual way learning all about you in ways that they don’t already know. they’ll play the long game too, they’ll do everything but tell you that they’re into you. they’ll think their gestures speak to their attraction, which could be perceived as friendly, so that’s where an aqua venus can shoot themselves in the foot. there’s a part of them that fears rejection ... ha their sister sign is leo, i wonder why ... so they’ll do everything BUT establish their feelings first IF they suspect at any point rejection is afoot.

recently came across a post saying that fixed venus’ can handle the other modality venus’ best so (fixed x cardinal venus relationship / fixed x mutable venus relationship ) in comparison to ( cardinal x mutable venus relationship ) the fixed venus is steady/rooted in their ways which provides a sense of stability for the other venus modality. NOW the only caveat to that is, the other venus modalities better put their all in to making it abundantly clear they’re only interested in their fixed venus. fixed venus’ need that even if they won’t say it, at some point they will though, but if the other modality venus’ come across flighty or neglectful? pfft, buckle up buttercup. fixed venus doesn’t give their heart easily so they’re not going to just up and leave (unless uranus aspects are present) but best believe they’ll give you a cold lesson that their love and self worth is to not to be taken lightly. however if this behavior is repeated from both parties, one. that could veer quickly to toxicity unless discusses/addressed, but two, the fixed venus WILL LEAVE and it’ll kill them inside. if for any moment people see a fixed venus with a new partner quickly post break up, it’s not what you think it is, they certainly need time to grieve. (unless they emotionally checked out while in the relationship before the break up, but still they need the time.)

sag placements/cancer placements/aqua placements/libra placements/leo placements/pisces placements are prone to emotionally checking out from something that doesn’t serve them. it’s a stall period though, they’ll remain in whatever bond it is that they’re gradually detaching themselves from just to see if their will be a change/if this is something their trying to fight themselves from doing. these placements are all highly idealistic in their own way so when they suspect/are shown that something isn’t going the way they envision/has the ability to progress how they imagined due to a lack of maturity or they miscalculated whether or not said bond has the capability to be what they thought it was, they’ll wait. little things like that can cause these placements to question EVERYTHING but it won’t be known, because sometimes it’s just their process. libra/pisces/sag may quietly vet other people/look to other bonds during this phase. cancer/leo/aqua keep to themselves mostly they’re not as likely to create a queue, they have options, but they’re not in a rush to jump to the next.

lemme tell y’all something about libras, don’t think for a second they’re “dumb/air-headed” they’re far from it. aforementioned about collecting a trait from the sign prior, let’s stop and think why scorpios are the way they are outside of pluto’s influence? libra’s calculation + observation can be credited to virgo, yes, but they add a completely different component to studying. they’re so effortless at it, hence their notorious charm, they’re good at collecting information and moving accordingly. remember, they’re air, all mental stimulation babyyyyy. libra suns / moons / mercuries those are the ones who will KNOW MORE THAN YOU’LL EVER THINK. they’re very good at keeping it to themselves and don’t get cocky about it. *cough* *cough* scorpio ... we’ve all known a scorpio to flex about their knowledge/being right.

if you want honesty go to a scorpio, virgo, sagittarius, aries and cancer sun/moon/mercury. they will all tell you the same thing at the end of the day, with a different delivery. no implications, no excessive sugar coating, some may be a smidge more mindful of feelings than others but you will get the same answer.

if you want solid advice go to a virgo, libra, aquarius, cancer, capricorn sun/mercury they’ll remain the least impartial in their advice, very good at taking the facts/information about a situation and working from there. however, they’ll advise you only on what they know, better tell them everything or they’ll get it out of you because they’ll ask a million questions before giving you their answer. UNLESS they know the situation/witness is, they’re very good at remaining impartial there as well.

cap moons, i’m sorry and i know it doesn’t change the pain and the treatment you’ve received from someone who you’ve been told/made to believe is supposed to love you. i know it’s hard, because you grew up far too fast you have never gotten a moment to yourself, but don’t suspect everyone is against you, because the ones closest to you hurt you. don’t harden yourself past the point of no return. don’t treat the world or relationships as a scratch my back and i’ll scratch yours. people can like you for who you are, not for who you’ve convinced yourself you have to be.

pisces moons, don’t let your perception be blurred by the depths of your emotions and recreate memories to fit the narrative of how you feel. you’re not too emotional, though you’ve been made to feel like your are or on the brink of being abandoned by your caretaker. it was never you. love can be unconditional outside of your pets and animals.

aries placements/leo placements the only one challenging whether or not you’re the best is...yourself. you’ll never be satisfied if you don’t recognize your biggest competitor is your ego and you’ll lose if you give into it every time. you won’t like the collateral damage you caused either.

i see a lot of debate between “worst/scariest temper” i personally feel that’s going to have to be a natal placement combination versus just sun or mars. however!! i have my own two scents as well.

intimidating temper MARS: scorpio (they’re unrecognizable in a fit of rage, their face morphs literally), aries (mmm more concerned about the mess they’ll make, very physically expressive), taurus (we all know about the bull/slow to anger types), cancer (they need to apologize to their family/friends they see as such) libra (yes it’s detriment, but every victim of their anger can recant the exact word that broke them in the slew of things said. they don’t get physical or loud, just extremely concise, you are at the mercy of their scalpel and they’re the surgeon).

shocking temper SUN: sagittarius (volcanic heads), cancer (you earned that, very amicable and forgiving), gemini (verbally and psychologically scarred for a long time), pisces (again, slow to anger/very forgiving) virgo (a mixture of forgiving but they vocalize their irritation enough so you possibly earned it)

devastating temper MERCURY: leo (the power and conviction, thick skin will crack), virgo (bravado and concise, they’re going off their checklist), libra (double take, “did they just say..” definitely not in your face but enough weight in their delivery to quiet a room), capricorn (saturn personified and articulated/ultimate paternal scolding pt.1), aries (the people you see crying because of something said? an aries merc did it), cancer (ultimate paternal scolding pt. 2/very cold, think “dark side of the moon”)

I got John Lucovich’s book “The Instinctual Drives and the Enneagram” a few weeks ago and read it, but it was a lot of information to absorb at once, so I’m rereading it in slower chunks this time to retain more of it. First, it’s an excellent book so I recommend buying and reading it. Second, rereading his extensive explanations of each social variant had certain people popping into my head, both characters and from my life that I could see correlate with each dominant. (It surprises me, but one of my friends appears to be a so/sx. I expected sx/so.) I can also see how accurately (at least, based on what I observe of these people) his blind-spot descriptions are.

Third, I do think I’m sp/so. I have a lot of social, but my main focus appears to be on self-pres and this has caused some conflict with social dominants in the past, where they couldn’t understand my casual detachment in that area (oh well) and I thought their over-focus on appearances was a bit much. I also want to pull away from people and be autonomous, where social dominants seem to want more of a constant connection. (Them: Wouldn’t us living together be incredible? I could see you all the time! Me: *looks on them with horror*)

One thing I really liked that brought my entire approach into context was this quote from the self-preservation section in general:

“Self Preservation types have a strong capacity for working and putting effort in a focused direction. They usually don’t have ambition for status so much as a drive for material or creative accomplishment, or for a place where their energy can be channeled into something practical and meaningful. Self Preservation builds a quality of persistent, useful energy that’s useful to building toward long-term aims.”

That... explains a lot about me, and my work process. How despite being an ENFP and having an overload of my ideas, I identify and focus on doing one massive project at a time, rather than flitting my attention between them. I stay focused. Work on things until they’re done. It demands enormous amounts of mental energy that soon deplete me and cause me to withdraw, feel tired, or just want to cozy up at home. This is why I’m not social or extroverted in a traditional sense. SP-doms are aware of energy expenditure and worn out by socializing. I can also tell where having inferior Si undermines being an sp-dom to some extent. I often work myself mentally into exhaustion, as John L. would call it, “overdoing it” rather than “under-doing it.”

My happiest and most mentally well times are when I allow myself to admit I am tired and quit work for the day, even if it’s not finished yet. When I push away my need for completion (low Te) in the knowledge that my mind and body needs down time to rejuvenate, and a one or two day delay at the cost of mental exhaustion isn’t worth it. Sensors and stronger Si types seem to be better at recognizing a need for rest than me.

I’ve been pushing myself too hard recently, unfortunately... but the bonus thing is, I am almost done with book rewrites! Just two more sections to go. :)

I took some notes on the things the types focus on under stress (this really brought to mind certain characters) to show you other useful things his book provides:

Enneagram types under stress:

Self-pres: fear of scarcity and harm

Social: fear of being ostracized, excluded, or abandoned

Sexual: fear of being undesirable and sexually overlooked

SP 1: reacts to hang-ups and imperfections in one’s lifestyle and environment as an affront to their idealistic sense of rightness and perfection.

SOC 1: becomes an impeccable exemplar of the values they wish their peers reflected, a “reformer” in the social realm.

SX 1: holds themselves, partners, and all relational dynamics to intense standards, to ward off sexual rejection through their own rejection of those who can’t measure up.

SP 2: projects scarcity onto others and acts as a caretaker at the neglect of themselves, running into exhaustion in hopes of reciprocation.

SOC 2: positions themselves as indispensable to loved ones by offering support, mentorship, or granting them access to important people.

SX 2: projects fears of undesirability onto others and then fills those needs to make them feel desirable or sexy. Makes themselves over to represent the “complete package” or “ideal lover.”

SP 3: works to excess to stave off scarcity while also performing their best version of abundance and success in a chosen lifestyle.

SOC 3: competes for status and embraces the best traits of their environment to be outstanding, inspiring, and invaluable.

SX 3: competes to the be the most attention-grabbing, majestic, and fascinating sexual partner around, and embody idealized traits.

SP 4: takes scarcity personally, as fuel for despair or something to rebel against.

SOC 4: represents their unique, edgy, mysterious side, while being aloof, keeping others desirous and fascinated y their presence.

SX 4: amplifies their intense personal “flavor,” mystique or talents to occupy a desired lover’s attention while trying to undermine any rivals.

SP 5: minimizes their dependence on any needs to give more energy over to concentration.

SOC 5: become “the expert,” offering their specialized understanding and insight to be an indispensable recognized expert, while trying simultaneously to distinguish and separate themselves from others.

SX 5: provides intense penetrating, captivating insight and focus, but abruptly withdraws when they feel insufficient energy to engage with a lover or that emotional demands are being placed on them.

SP 6: invests in and worries about the things that ensure their resources, and feel conflicted about upholding their obligations to others versus self-care.

SOC 6: defend friends, relationships, and values against harmful influences, and upkeep social agreements and structures as essential.

SP 8: hardens themselves, becomes overly intense and energized about securing necessary resources for their well being, “taking what’s mine.”

SOC 8: take charge of the social realm, be the galvanizing force.

SX 8: attempt to dominate their desired lover’s attention and energy, while using provocation to be “too much to handle.”

SP 9: uses comforts, work and exercise to “get by on little,” settling for small habits and comforts at the expense of finding and pursuing what they really want for their lives.

SOC 9: over-adapt to others in relationships and resign themselves too quickly into social roles.

SX 9: use sexuality to disassociate, hiding behind sexuality or attraction and over-adapting to their partners’ preferences.

Hey, one relationship during the Blackfyre rebellion I’d be fascinated to know about would be between Myriah Martell and Rohanne of Tyrosh. Do you have any head canons?

Hmm. Honestly, I'm not sure they really had much of a relationship? Daeron orchestrated (or finished orchestrating, rather) Daemon's marriage to Rohanne and on the day of their wedding granted them a tract of land near the Blackwater, so the two of them presumably spent most of their time there rather than at the Red Keep. And, of course, there's the fact that Daemon was a jealous, entitled, racist little shit who — to put it mildly — was resentful of Daeron and had a rivalry with Daeron's Dornish-looking heir Baelor.

Adding on to that, Daemon was only 14 when he married and Rohanne presumably was not significantly older, so the both of them would've been at more or less impressionable ages. With Rohanne being a foreigner, she probably relied a lot on Daemon, and by association, Daemon's version of things. I'm sure he inundated her with lies and half-truths. Too, perhaps she was predisposed to not liking Daeron because he was the one who cemented the marriage between her and Daemon, thus taking her away from her family and her homeland. Plus, she ended up having nine or more kids with the guy, so unless Daemon was horrifically abusive for the decade-plus they were married and forced all those pregnancies on her (unlikely), she at the very least didn't mind sleeping with him and bearing his children.

That said, Rohanne was also her own person, and perhaps instead of her foreigner status making her cling more to her husband, it made her instead latch onto Myriah, who also was basically a foreigner. Moreover, Daeron and Myriah were old enough to be Daemon's parents (therefore probably also old enough to be Rohanne's), so maybe she looked up to them as such since she was so far away from her own. She might also have gravitated towards them because Daemon consistently shamed Rohanne by touting his "love" for Daenerys, going so far as to seek her out as a second wife. With those continued insults and Daenerys seemingly not reciprocating Daemon's advances, Rohanne very well could've preferred to not be in Daemon's company.

I would like to think that while Rohanne and Daemon appear to have had a decent relationship, she held a great affinity towards Daeron and Myriah. I really enjoy the idea that Myriah could've helped her navigate the court and politics, being all too familiar with how non-Dornish Westeros treats people who are different. Maybe she also befriended someone like Dyanna Dayne, who was near her age and, like Myriah and Rohanne herself, was (essentially) a foreigner married to a Targaryen royal. I think at first Rohanne would be wary of them all, both because of Daemon and because she simply didn't know them, but with everything we know about that side of the family and lacking Daemon's personal vendetta, I find it hard to believe Rohanne wouldn't warm up to them.

Such a friendship would've made the dynamic between her and Daemon extremely interesting. It would have grown even more so when Daemon decided to rebel, because Rohanne would have a duty to her husband and sons to support them, but at the same time, her friendship with the Reds would make her opposed to Daemon. Could she truly support his "cause" when she was so close with the people he was slandering and trying to destroy?

How she'd feel once her sons died is up for debate — would she hate the Reds, given that it was Bloodraven who killed them, or would she hate Daemon, who was the reason her sons were on the battlefield in the first place?

(Granted, the fact that when she fled with her children to Tyrosh, Bittersteel came along as well would imply that she favored the Blacks in the end, but there could be some other explanations. Bittersteel and Calla were married, for instance, so Rohanne might not have had much choice in the matter.)

Unfortunately, we'll almost certainly never know because GRRM doesn't give a shit about women like Rohanne (or women in general tbh). We barely know anything about Myriah, who was married to the greatest Targaryen king and reigned alongside him for a quarter of a century. Frankly, it's a miracle we even know Rohanne's name.

Hey girl! Just wanted to say I really love your fics! I also also really liked that Bonkai oneshot you wrote set before Kai revealed himself to Bonnie and Damon.

Hey Anon!

Thanks for showing me some love here! Glad you enjoyed my little one-shot. You can thank @scorpio-karma for that one-shot and literally providing me with all the information I have about Bonkai. Because she's an amazing individual she also very frequently brainstorms things with me when I am working on and developing fics. I actually had a couple of Bonkai ones in the works but I chickened out about posting them at the last minute. I did a few drafts but none felt quite right. But who knows, I may get out of my head and post one day. This is what happens when you suffer from anxiety.

Anyway, I didn't think I could do the ship justice so this makes me feel really good. I love the idea of the ship a lot because their interactions (and this is me talking from watching their arc on YouTube) were the few times we go to explore a darker side of Bonnie onscreen. She got to be angry, vengeful, and violent. It's also one of the few times her isolation and abandonment issues were explored in a real way. What fascinates me about Kai in particular is for me he is very much what Bonnie could be or become if she was ever able to fully acknowledge her maltreatment, use, and abuse in a real way and the disproportionate toxic nature of her relationships were able to be explored. I also see a lot in him of hints of what I saw in Klaus in the beginning before his character was neutered. That's another thing, Kai was allowed to exist in darkness, even with the slight promise of redemption, the darkness was never going to go away and Bonnie allowed to birth some of that darkness and he brought it out in her as well. It's one of the very few, if not only, truly reciprocal.

Most of all, I just loved that he very openly expressed fascination with her and an attraction to her. Which, sadly, thanks to the the writers couldn't even be said about Bonnie's actual canon love interests. With Jeremy and Enzo Bonnie had to work for their attention and initiate a lot of the moments of intimacy and outside of maybe the very beginning of Beremy, acted as the pursuing and put up with a lot to make the relationship work and there was more devotion she showed in those relationship, than was showed to her, I felt, particularly with Beremy as I am admittedly more familiar with them than Bonenzo. In contrast, Bonnie never had to work to get Kai's attention, it was there from the beginning, regardless of his motives and it remained consistent and he was often actively and obsessively in pursuit of her for one reason or another.

What irritated me about Bonkai with the writers was that they actively capitalized off of their popularity and the dynamic was a large part of the appeal of Kai's character but they at the same time refused to go there and cross the line with them. JP liked to keep Bonnie and Kat, boxed in, pigeonholed, and othered so much that even when sitting on a goldmine when it came to storylines and pairings for her character, that would have likely boosted the ratings, brought new viewers, and continue to birthed fresh story potential she flat out refused to bring it to the screen or engage with the fandoms in any real way outside of trolling and exploitation. In any other hands, and with the chemistry CW and KG had. the would've not just brought new life to the show (and in a way they did anyway) but they would've stolen the show, and the latter was, like in most cases when it comes to Bonnie and Kat, the real issue the writers had with the pairing and their story.

Octavinelle CM is emphasizing Azul & his important bonds with the Leech twins.

If you’re someone who knows me on twitter, I’m probably that person who will not shut up about these trio because their relationship is my weakness.... be about their dynamics or aesthetic wise. Octavinelle CM just proves once more on how their relationship can’t be judged up as superficial because it’s up to you to judge them as a familial bond or platonically or romantically like me because they are gayass sea creatures. ALSO SPOILERS AHEAD IF YOU HAVEN’T REACH OCTAVINELLE CHAPTER YET I’M WARNING YOU.

I mean when there are some of the scenes where:

Azul letting Jade to hold his contract

If you realize how the contracts are really important to Azul, as the source of his own power, solely on purpose to balance his magic. And also the same contract that he made fuss in the game if Floyd ended up ruining them. It just showed how much he has an absolute trust towards the twins in general that he lets them casually touch his stuff. Like you can make some excuses since Jade is working as Octavinelle’s Vice Dorm so he’s doing his duty, but I don’t think he will let an outsider touch them easily considering how Azul is actually having trust issues based on his past

The twins hold respect & admiration towards Azul’s power

The transition scene where Azul stop walking in midway with them, which makes the twins turn back to see him just being devoured by his true octopus form is JUST SOO SYMBOLIC ON HOW THEY LOOKED UP ON AZUL’S STRENGTH SO MUCH (Or I can interpret this as the twins accepting Azul’s true nature or his flaws). You may already know in the game how in the past the twins reach out for him because of how they’re fascinated toward Azul’s determination & skills on studying his own magic by himself, hence they decide to stick with him even to playing some kind of role on being Master-Servant. Remember on how they always up and convincing MC & Grim to trust Azul’s plan because they believe on Azul will bring up something fascinating if they keep stick with him (to the point they convinced MC & Grim to return back to Scarabia Dorm when they were being chased as a hostages). This is how much value they really believe him so much. There’s a mutual trust between them.

The twins’ loss of existence is what triggers further Azul's Overblotting.

I. LOVE THIS. SCENE. SO MUCH (I would not shut up & this gonna be a long one). THIS EXACT SCENE where azul holding both of them inside the bubble is just representing how much he treasures them & relies on them as part of his strength. So when the bubbles pop up and vanish into the foams, Azul feels the big loss and IT’S REALLY THE REENACT SCENE OF URSULA LOSING BOTH JETSAM & FLOTSAM . The despair he felt losing them which causing overblot is actually have been portrayed as well in the game if you aware enough with this exact known scene:

When the twins came back to see Azul’s having a mental breakdown, Azul's first reaction was overjoyed that he at the least hoped both Jade & Floyd would side with him. However,the way Floyd remarks on how lame Azul is behaved just now only to trigger Azul’s insecurities about himself and overwhelmed toward the idea of how the twins soon will abandon him. We all know how Azul seeks power so much so he can get the better version of himself in order to not be ridiculed, bullied by people around him. Jade & Floyd are one of his source strength to make him be able to move forward with his silly entrepreneur persona and probably a reason of him developing his confidences to be able to stand high up until now, and without the twins I believe Azul would not make this far and just keep his low-profile as much as possible (like the actual octopus personality).

But of course in the end, the bond between Azul & The Twins are not one-sided. The twins decided to help Azul from Overblotting to go back to his senses. They may say how their relationship is superficial with The Twins remark on leaving Azul once everything becomes boring. But you can see how their actions are different from their words, I can just only interpret this as Azul can’t perceive a genuine relationship so the twins had to mask their relationship with the master & Servant roleplay relationship on the surface. The twins indeed care for Azul to the point of Floyd letting Azul use his Unique Magic on Scarabia chapter, to the point where Jade has to do any impossible task to help Azul’s Monstro Longue Business (Based on his SSR story & Ceremonial Robe). Meanwhile Azul, who is probably quite terrible at demonstrating his genuine feelings towards twins in general, reciprocate by putting so much trust towards both of them. And I think their feelings are just, mutual.

So I rest in my case if any of you still think twins only have each other and I know not many people love Octavinelle as equally, But I just hope people won’t ignore the importance of their relationship since the CM videos basically demonstrate everything about their bonds. In other words

You wake up agitated after a bad dream. It wasn't terrifying as a nightmare, just… Bad. You can't remember what it was all about now that you woke up, yet you feel like it was something bad.

Maybe you're starting to lose it. Or maybe you just had a bad night and that's it.

Well, "night", again you're floating through space, time doesn't really apply over here, yet to keep the crew from feeling too alienated, Black and White decided to create a little routine so everyone can be occupied but also have time to relax and do something that brings joy to the crewmates.

It may be silly, but in a situation that you don't know when you'll go back home and if you're going to go back at all, is pretty terrifying. So something silly like that really helps.

You like to record vocal diaries every time you're going to bed, and sometimes when you wake up. Sometimes you just want to record your crazy dreams, others are to help you feel more energized to start the day.

To be honest, you don't want to get out of bed, it's so comfy and you just wish you could stay and enjoy the comfort of your bed for a little longer. Besides, because of your nightmare you feel like you haven't slept at all!

But of course, all good things must end.

"- WAKE UP, SLEEPY HEAD!" Red was banging on your door.

"- You're late, dumbass." You heard a voice that you could only guess was from Orange.

You look up at the clock on top of your nightstand to see that you were in fact, one hour late.

"- I-I'm coming!" You scuttle to put on your clothes. Normally you would have taken a shower first thing when you get out of your room but… Well, you're too late for that!

"- You'll miss breakfast!" Red said, apparently he was still waiting for you.

After awkwardly changing your clothes, you opened the door to find Red and Cyan waiting for you. Red had hugged you tight the moment you appeared.

"- What took you so long, sleeping beauty?" He ruffed your hair again, this time being a little more gentle, and you guess it's because of how sleepy you still are.

"- Ugh, I didn't manage to get enough sleep." You whine, even if you did sleep, somehow you still feel like you were robbed of a good peaceful night.

Maybe it was the worries clouding your mind. The fear of never going back to Earth.

"- Yeah, I know how you feel." Red said while pulling you to follow him to the cafeteria. Cyan was right behind.

"- Really?" You asked the energetic man, concerned he is also dealing with nightmares.

"- Yeah, ya know? I heard things crawling in the vents all night." He said, darkening his tone of voice when he said literally the creepiest shit ever.

"- What!?" You said, well- Practically yelled. You felt like you instantly woke up at the idea of something dangerous lurking in the ventilation. N-not that you were scared or anything!

"- Nah, I'm joking." He turned his head to look at you with a little smug face, proud of how he manages to catch you.

"- Oh, come on man! You scared me…" You elbowed him weakly. You almost had a heart attack thinking about it!

"- Ha! Don't worry okay? It was just a joke to wake you up. If you're scared so much than-"

"- You don't need to worry, [Y/N]. I can reassure you that nothing is going to hurt you." Red was interrupted when Cyan decided to butt their way into the conversation.

"- What- How are you so sure?" You were surprised by their sudden voice. They spoke so seriously, you turned around and saw how they didn't seem to be joking.

"- I… Won't let it happen." They said almost questioning it. Not only was the idea of protecting their prey absolutely ridiculous and foreign to them, but they were considering the fact that it sounded pretty obvious, why would you even question it?

"- Come on man, I was just about to say that." Red said, a little bit shyly compared to his normal attitude. He looked so down even though he was trying to keep his smile on his face.

Tension was slowly rising and you were starting to catch on to it.

"- I- Wait, are your two really that worried about me? Come on guys, don't worry about it! I can protect myself too, you know?" You said trying to place yourself in-between them, distracting them from the weird stares they kept throwing at each other.

"- Sure you can, so, let's just go to the cafeteria already." Red's entire demeanor had changed out of nowhere. You were a little scared about how off putting it is to see him… Angry?

Cyan had taken your left arm, pulling you closer to them than to Red. It wasn't too obvious to an outsider perspective, yet it did make a bit of a difference when you were pulled closer to them.

"- He is acting strange." They whispered to you, hopefully Red didn't hear it. You didn't say anything as you only looked at Cyan with a concerned expression.

The day hasn't even started yet and it was already going to be a bad day.

While this whole event was happening, Cyan was pissed at how the human Red was acting strange. Not only had he taken you in his arms for a long period of time (a pretty long hug for "friends"), Red had made sure to not include Cyan in the conversation. Hell, he even made sure to keep you near him rather than them! What was he doing, trying to piss them off? And for what purpose??

The thing that really sparked annoyance in Cyan's head was how he lies blatantly to your face, only so you could be scared so he could sound like the hero in this situation. Cyan knows Red didn't listen to them crawling the vents, Red was sleeping like a rock the entire time Cyan was wandering around the ventilation.

Cyan had entered his room to collect information, and oh boy, had they collected some information. They started to think that maybe you would be better off away from Red.

Cyan had soon caught what Red was trying to do, he was trying to court you. And what a pathetic display of courting, it's not like Red was bringing any proof of how "strong" and "protective" he could be to you.

If Cyan were in your place, they would have eaten Red's face as a sign of disapproval.

Cyan had seen you sleeping that night, they saw you having night terrors. You went from peacefully sleeping to having nightmares in only a couple of minutes, so no wonder why you didn't sleep well.

Ugh. They were probably overreacting. They shouldn't care that about the half-assed courting they just witnessed, they shouldn't even care that you had night terrors! They should only care about their next meal, yet-

Yet, they don't know why, but-

Seeing Red be so desperate for your attention is messing with their heads. If Cyan was in your place, they would have rejected his request and tried to wait for someone a lot more competent to show up.

"- So. How it's your tasks going?" Red asked you. It's been three hours after the incident, and you were now finishing your tasks when Red suddenly decided to join in.

"- I'm doing okay, how about you? Did you finish yours?" You asked, still paying attention to your own work.

"- Yeah, I did… Look, I want to say sorry for earlier. I guess I overreacted, heh." He apologized, clearly embarrassed by the fact he acted so jealous in front of you.

Red had started to get easily fascinated by your person. You're incredible in his eyes, and even if you didn't reciprocate your feelings towards him, he at least hopes you don't end up with someone like Cyan.

Someone that is a coward and a player, someone who is very aware of how you feel towards them yet keeps you in the dark just because they're "afraid" of turning into something official with you. If he knew that the whole crew would be in this terrible situation that you're in right now, Red would have made a move earlier.

He thought that Cyan had stopped trying to be with you, yet apparently not.

"- That's okay, I guess we're all losing our minds slowly." You told Red even though you were mentioning that more to yourself. You feel like you also need to calm yourself down, since the gravity of your situation was starting to settle in a lot stronger than anticipated.

"- Yeah, I agree." He was losing his cool, he had to admit that. He remembers listening to you and Cyan yesterday, he couldn't understand everything going on after he had joked about you and Cyan making out in the halls, but he remembers hearing something that sounded like Cyan scolding you for… Worrying? Really? Honestly, what monster would ever consider scolding someone like you for being worried about their safe being?!

A lunatic, clearly. Someone who doesn't deserve your worries, yet you keep going towards them! You keep being kind to someone who is a lunatic if not an absolute moron.

Oh, here we go again. He is being negative again, he needs to keep calm if he wants to keep the bad thoughts away from his mind, but it's already too late.

Every time Cyan is unfair to you, he has these bad, intrusive thoughts. How annoying.

"- I'll go see how Cyan is doing, see you later [Y/N]." He said. His entire mood has been pretty down the whole day, you noticed how his normally uplifting voice has been pretty serious the entire time.

You say goodbye as you still have many tasks to do. You wonder if you should consult White about this, everyone seems to be on edge lately and it's starting to affect your environment-

"- Oh, [Y/N]! Do you need any help?" You turned your head around at the sound of a sweet voice calling you.

"- Hey Yellow. I do need some help, but are you sure? I don't want to be a burden." You said noticing the shy girl coming forward.

" Not at all! I-I want to help! I just finished my own tasks so I thought it would be nice to be useful." She was probably feeling anxious since the last meeting, trying to search for someone to help and talk with.

You decided to let her join you, Yellow has her quirks yet- You really like her, she can be pretty comforting to be around.

While you and the crew were doing tasks, Cyan was trying to find a good opportunity for their next victim. Their hunger had started to become stronger, and because they refused to eat human food (they're very picky), they haven't been able to gain enough energy to go through the day.

They need some flesh, and it needs to be as soon as possible-

"- Hey!" Oh look, that sounds like free food.

"- Hello, Red." They said, their rough voice was raspy due to the fact that they haven't eaten in a while. Their tone didn't hide the annoyance at seeing such a low human in their presence.

"- I wanted to tell you something. Can we talk?" He said. Cyan wasn't too interested in what he had to say, yet they were intrigued to know why he couldn't just say what he wanted in the first place.

Cyan noticed that they couldn't simply get rid of him just yet. There were at least three people here. The rude Blue one, the little Lime thingy talking with the Purple guy.

"- Privately, that is." Red had looked around, giving a glare towards Blue's direction, which caused them to flinch when noticing the odd way the male was acting out of nowhere.

"- Of course." He was making their job a lot easier. He took them to an empty room, O2.

"- So, what do you want- Argh!" Red took the opportunity to pin Cyan to the wall. The sudden reaction took the much stronger creature by surprise, and although they could simply split him in half, Cyan decided to see where this was going.

"- What it's your problem?" Cyan choked, since Red was forcing his arm in their throat. Then again, they could easily get out of his grip.

"- You. You're acting weird since yesterday and-" He paused, was he really about to say it? Would he really let his jealousy get in the middle of his friendship?

"- And you have been acting weird especially with [Y/N], I heard you two yesterday." Red confessed.

"- Oh, fascinating, is that why you've been giving me bad looks every now and then?" But Cyan did not seem to care for what Red was telling them. I mean, they only been here for like- 24 hours, and even so they could see Red's feelings towards you from a mile away.

"- Are you jealous?" Cyan provoked the unstable man. Clearly the time spent inside this spaceship has been messing with his mind.

"- No! I'm- I'm being serious here, [Y/N] was concerned about your well-being yet you got mad at them!" Red's grip from Cyan's neck was slowly fading as he was starting to get more agitated.

"- And what does any of that has to do with you?" Cyan asked, pushing Red's arms away from them, which caused him to notice how irrational he was being.

"- Just- Just stay away from them, okay? I thought you didn't even-" He interrupted himself, he was sounding so… Different, from his normal self. He was sounding like an possessive freak, even he could tell.

"- … I didn't what, Red?" Cyan was starting to get bored by the human's whining. In less than 48 hours, humans have proven to be simply too emotional, letting their distrust eat them away. Even for a creature as anxious as Cyan, they can at least think twice before doing something stupid.

Something stupid like provoking a creature that could easily kill him.

"- Stay away from them." Red warned them, while deciding that the best course of action would be to leave them alone.

He wasn't acting like usual self, yet, it doesn't seem like he cares at this point. He was stuck in this hell, no one can judge him for losing his mind a little. Wouldn't you lose it as well if you were stuck in space?

Cyan however wasn't really impressed by the male's threat. They didn't even do anything for him to be so feisty, they haven't even tried anything with you for stars sake.

Maybe he was truly starting to lose it, or maybe the original Cyan did say something regarding you. Yet, it doesn't matter now.

Red is unstable, acting like a douche towards the crew, even if they didn't have anything to do with this conversation in the first place! It wouldn't take long before he turned into a burden in the eyes of the rest, just like Blue is already considered the most unlikeable asshole in this place.

Although Cyan was already pretty hungry they just lost the opportunity to both satisfy their hunger and the want to choke Red, they thought about something more interesting. There are way too many humans here, and if Red suddenly died, people would be suspicious of Cyan and you, since he is always near you two.

But what if, there was a way to get rid of Red while also satisfying their hunger?

Could they create a scene where Red is the "culprit" of someone else's death?

It doesn't sound so unlikely now that they think about it.
