do you ever think about how canonically in the batman v superman movie/universe, dick grayson is the dead robin and bruce never picked up another kid which eventually led to him killing superman?
YES?! YES! YESS!!!!
If Dick were to die, Bruce would completely break. He wouldn't just stop at killing villains - hell no - he would start killing heroes too.
All that's going through his head is that no one deserves to exist if Dick is gone.
And knowing me, I will always gladly provide the evidence.
In the comics when Dick got shot, Bruce's world imploded.
He felt such a strong rage, he kinda lost it. He flew to another country, defeated assassins, and trucked through the freezing blizzard in Russia to get to KG Beast.

He lost communication with Alfred. He's completely on his own but nothing will stop him in his crusade to avenge Dick.
He finds the assassin and they have a massive fight. KG Beast is actually one of the highest paid killers in the world. Him, Lady Shiva, Deathstroke, Deadshot, and someone else are the top 5 of the villain world and Batman almost loses until-

He shoots a grapple gun into KG Beast's face! He breaks him. He leaves him paralyzed.

Batman willingly and knowingly paralyzed someone despite knowing the cost. That's how much he hated him. But you think it stops here? This is just the tip of the iceberg.

Forget Batman. JTTF stands for Joint Terrorism Task Force. They actually considered a hit on Nightwing an act of terrorism.
That's how much the world loves Nightwing.
The moment KG Beast shot Nightwing, he became the Nation's Public Enemy Number One.
Commissioner Grogan hates KG Beast so much for what he did, he can't even bring himself to say the man's name, too revolted by his existence. Gotham hates the guy more than they hate the Joker.

Commissioner Gordon offers some hope that maybe Batman knew but Commissioner Grogan - he just says maybe. I don't know, it's possible but - to which Gordon just stays silent. They both know what happened and what Batman did but confirming it out loud? Batman's not supposed to kill.
So Batman left KG Beast to die but Bane? The one who ordered the hit? He-

And when Gordon tries to stop him-

Batman (2016) Issue #59
He. Punches. Gordon.
He hurts his friend and ally. The man who helped him the night his parents were murdered. He punched for his pain over Dick.
This is where it all connects to the Superman vs Batman movie. If Dick were to die, Bruce would kill his own allies in the end. He would raze the world to the ground.
In the comics, Dick's death is the turning point for Batman (2016). After this he enters a series of nightmares where his brain turns a nightmare of Selina dying to be exactly reminiscent of what happened to Dick, and even though Dick lived, Bruce can't let that go. Then the fight with Bane who targeted Dick solely because of his importance to Dick, and then the Joker War where the Joker tried to use Dick because of his importance to Bruce, and the Gotham War where Dick thrashing him was Bruce's breaking point from his toxic self and finally self-realization.
Damian once said Dick leaving to become Nightwing caused Bruce to lose his moral compass, and that's even more true now. He's breaking enemies and allies left and right just because Dick almost died.
Imagine what would happen if Dick really did.

I've been reading old Nightwing. (Nightwing 1996) and damn is good. I'm reading from Issue 71 through the arc where Blockbuster/Devin Grayson try to destroy Dick's life.
Honestly I'm here with popcorn 🍿 for this. I like the build up. it moves slow and is scary. I can't tell what is set up until Dick mentions it. I like watching Dick go off the handle. He is terrifying in issue 90. You don't realize how much Dick was holding back until you see him breaking arms first then asking questions. He had been on the defensive until issue 91 and the art does a great job and showing Dick as scarier. The artist has Nightwing covered in dirt and sot since his building blows up. I know what's going to happen but seeing it in comics is brutal. Blockbuster is brutal and threatening. His death and final fight was awful and brutal. He did learn a lot about Dick and knew how to predict him.
I'm really disappointed there isn't a trade volume I can find to own the arc were Deathstroke shows up around issue 80.
One of my pet peeve with Nightwing (2016) is that people keep uncovering Nightwing' identity. In 1996 I don't mind it. Maybe it's because Nightwing 1996 shows people figuring it out or the fact that Dick works to protect his identity. When people start to figure him out it's a threat.
other things I enjoy Deathstroke hanging out in Dick's apartment reading a paper. what a dork.
There's a good bit of realism and consequences in Nightwing 1996. Dick gets injured and stays injured for 5 issues. People get hurt from someone throwing Dick into oncoming traffic. Dick's boss figures out he's Nightwing from interacting with both identities and she fires him for it! Cleaning out the corruption in the police department causes problems and some of the cops are still assholes.
and the irony of Amy doing unethical things and becoming one of the corrupt cops for Dick. That's so nasty.
I loved that Dick still has contact with Haly's circus and they call him to sub. That's so cute. I liked that Dick isn't the best all the time. He makes mistakes. he gets tired. When fighting Double Dare he notes they match his acrobatics skills or could be better.
I'd probably say Nightwing is my favorite comic. and that's including volume 4.

What are your alltime favorite comics? Or just comics that you would recommend? Especially stuff that someone new could pick up without too much back reading to understand? You don't have to answer this if you don't want to but I'm looking for recommendations to branch out from just Batman/Batfam and just thought I'd ask!
this is all just off the top of my head, so i'm probably leaving out some Classics on accident, but (in no particular order):
Aquaman: Andromeda
Green Lantern (1990) (from Emerald Twilight (#48) on)
Gotham by Midnight
The Man of Steel (1986)
The Death & Return of Superman (Death of Superman, Funeral for a Friend/World Without a Superman, and Reign of the Supermen)
Superman: Last Son (Action Comics #844 - 846, #851, Annual #11)
Superman: Brainiac (Action Comics #866 - 870) & The New Krypton Saga (concludes with War of the Supermen, which is for some reason not on that reading guide)
World's Finest (2009)
Green Arrow: Year One
Green Lantern/Green Arrow
Green Arrow (1988)
The New Teen Titans (1980), Tales of the Teen Titans, and The New Teen Titans (1984)
Outsiders (2003)
Arsenal (1998)
Titans (1999)
Titans (2008)
Deathstroke (2016)
Steel (1994)
Aquaman: Time & Tide
L.E.G.I.O.N.
R.E.B.E.L.S. (all good, but i especially love from #15 on for kory content)
Aquaman: Death of a Prince
Tempest (1996)
the whole war of light era of green lantern, which i have a bigass reading guide for, but Red Lanterns & Red Daughter of Krypton in particular
Convergence: The Titans
Convergence: Green Lantern/Parallax
Convergence: Green Lantern Corps
Valor (1992) (the first few issues kind of drag, but it picks up quick (after #10, specifically)! the D.O.A. arc is an all-time fave for sure, and Valor #19 might actually be my all-time favorite single comic book issue point blank period)
roy's titans era (New Titans #100 - 130)
The Trial of Superman & Reign of Doomsday (these have literally nothing to do with each other, but we're grouping them together because neither one of them is particularly good. i mean, they're not terrible or anything, but really, they're only faves because i'm a huge sucker for storylines that involve the entire superfam lol)
Superman: The Black Ring (this one is here just because i appreciate how incredibly HECTIC it is. lex 1v1s a gorilla in the middle of the jungle, meets death, becomes a space god, builds a lois sexbot that ends up having been possessed by brainiac the entire time. also slade is there for like 2 pages solely to lose his shit and run around screaming like a little girl. the best kind of comic book insanity. magnifique)
those 5 minutes pre-reboot where damian joined the titans in a way that wasn't annoying as hell (Teen Titans (2003) #88 - 91, Red Robin #20, Teen Titans (2003) #92)
Wonder Woman (1987) (post-crisis ww & superman are both all-time faves, but this is a much better standalone read because it's way more self-contained & not constantly jumping between 9 different titles. again, all good imo, but i'm much more partial to everything post-artemis's introduction in #90 <3)
Superboy (1994) (ngl, i didn't super love the majority of this book. there's a LOT of good for sure, but it is very 90s, and that's not always a good thing. it's not terrible (apart from the romance aspect), and i'd still recommend reading it for sure, but there was definitely a lot of skimming and skipping around when i read through. ~#59 is where i started to find myself skimming a lot less, so if you find yourself having a hard time getting into it, too, i'd say just start there, then go back & read the earlier issues later)
post-crisis superman in general (so good, but holy fuck is it a pain in the ass to read. there were 600 superman titles running at all times, and EVERY single arc bounced between damn near all of them. i really want to make a ridiculously long reading guide for it, too, one day, but for now, you can fight your way through using this with me, if you'd like)
i'm still just starting to break into legion comics myself, so i don't think i can really give good recs for them just yet. i'm really enjoying them so far, though, so it's worth a mention. if you enjoy just jumping right into the deep end with 0 context like i do, i just started the 90s legion halfway through via superboy & valor. no idea what the hell's going on or who anybody is half the time, but that's just part of the fun. it's like sink-or-swim style language immersion but for ridiculous comic book people who talk entirely in references i don't understand even a little
i started with the valor arc in Superboy (1994) #17 - 19, then the following the Future Tense arc, and i just kinda kept reading Legionnaires & Legion of Super-Heroes (1989) from there. also picked up The Legion (2001) with #25, where kon joins up, with zero context for anything that'd happened before in that. this is an objectively terrible way of doing things, but also very fun as long as you don't mind a learning curve
also special mentions for a couple single issues that have always stuck out to me for some reason:
Justice League of America (2006) #11 (feel the need to put like... a claustrophobia warning on this one lol? a very anxiety-inducing read! be warned!)
Superman #712 (krypto-centric issue post-kon's death in Infinite Crisis. makes me want to scream every time i think abt it <3)
and i know you probably meant dc, but tbh most of my All Time Faves are marvel, so i have to mention a few:
X-23 (there are like 3 different volumes, and they're all so incredibly 2000s. i love them all dearly)
Wolverine: Origins
Captain America (2005)
Winter Soldier: Winter Kills
Avengers/Invaders
Old Man Logan (2015) & (2016)
Black Widow (2010)
Marvels (1994)
The Torch (2008)
Gambit (2012)
Gambit & Bishop: Sons of the Atom
Rogue (2004) (not good. kind of objectively terrible, actually, but i love rogue and i love rogue & shiro's relationship AND i love the bisexual implications with blindspot, so… here we are. if you aren't a huge rogue fan already, you will almost certainly not enjoy this lol)
Dark Wolverine & Daken: Dark Wolverine (THE absolute fave. akihiro is what a good % of the batfandom thinks jason todd is/was. bisexual, evil, obsessed with his own father. check, check, and check with a weird, violently homoerotic relationship with the punisher the cherry on top. also marjorie liu stealth confirming johnny storm's bisexuality via putting him in an absurdly toxic relationship with akihiro for like 2 issues remains both incredibly iconic and absolutely hilarious to me. 10/10/10)
in terms of more recent comics, i've pretty much only been keeping up with marvel
Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty (2022) (pretty much everything else going on (esp everything with bucky) is kind of annoying, but it has my favorite steve characterization like… maybe ever)
New Mutants (2019) (yeah, everything about krakoa era x-men is just kind of inherently annoying, but this one came outta left field near the end there with some of my favorite writing for madelyne pryor in a while and the dani moonstar & madelyne pryor enemies-to-lovers arc i didn't know i needed but am now fully obsessed with)
Midnight Suns (2022) (love a good rag-tag team of characters who have no business being on a team together. substitute teacher blade is such a powerful concept, it immediately made this an all-timer for me, and logan being drawn approximately 4ft shorter than everyone around him cemented it as a 10/10)
aaand finally, i've also really been enjoying dynamite lately. Vampirella/Red Sonja (2019) is where i got onboard with them. you don't have to know jack about these characters or universe beforehand (i didn't!), and i really can't recommend it enough, especially if you're someone who loves stories with time travel and/or bisexual vampire women
this is so messy, and i'm definitely forgetting a lot here lol, but hopefully this helps & you find something you like! good luck & have fun!

Cassandra Cain is the daughter of assassins David Cain and Sandra Wu-San, and was raised by Cain. Top 10 Joey moments?
In no particular order...
1) New Teen Titans: The Judas Contract The Judas Contract is a solid comic all around. It does a good job of establishing who Joey is and his abilities. Some bonding moment with the team really bring it together. I love this as a character introduction because how Joey is presented is upheld for the rest of the run (we don't talk about what happens at the end). Up until what I can only describe as one of the most hilariously bad plot twists from DC I can think of, Joey's gentleness and sensitivity is upheld beautifully. As for the Wolfman and Perez's panicked over corrections later on, it's at least something to laugh at.
2) Convergence: New Teen Titans This comic genuinely made me cry. Looking past the distinct and gorgeous artwork, the moment between Joey and Kole is really lovely. After Deathstroke (2016), it's good to see Joey's identity being treated with the respect it's given here. The quiet intimacy of this scene makes me smile. There's no big announcement, not fanfare. It comes and goes, and it's nice
Tumblr media
3) Tales of the Teen Titans #45 Joey and Raven's relationship is a highlight of this incarnation of the titans for me. This issue features one of my favorite scenes between the two in the car ride from Manhattan Collage.
Tumblr media
While I have a lot of problems with the idea that none of the Titans know any ASL, I think it's nice within the narrative to show Raven being the first one to learn, especially during this part of her history. As the comic says, she reaches out as best she can, which makes what happens in issue #48 all the more heartbreaking.
Tumblr media
4) Tales of the Teen Titans #50 Is it cheating to include this issue right after the others, especially since I'm picking it more for the full issue than Joey specifically? Maybe. Do I care? No. What can I say, I love this comic. It's a real feel-good issue. For once, the team is (almost) all together and (almost) all happy. The artwork is great and the writing is really top notch here. This is a party I want to be at. Joey and Dick on guitar together is the icing on the fully proverbial cake here as I'm sure Terry and Donna's was better.
5) Teen Titans (2003) #40-47 I really didn't expect to enjoy this run. I'm not a fan of most of the characters and when I first started reading, I hated the direction Joey was being taken in. And... yeah. The book isn't great. As soon as this arc ends, it turns back into crap for poor Joey. But I liked seeing him here anyway. I thought he and Rose were sweet. If only if hadn't ended so badly.
Tumblr media
6) Deathstroke (2015) #2-6 Poor Rose. DC just can't get enough of sticking her at the top of their brutalized Asian women list. If you're interested in checking this comic out for Joey, stop after issue #6. Issues #17-20 taje a weird turn. So why's this on my top ten? I'm a sucker for narratives exploring Slade's dedication to his children. While this comic is as much a mess as the rest of the n52, I found myself enjoying at least that. Joey making people's heads explode I could have done without.
7) Tales of the Teen Titans #51 & 52 This comic is awesome. Joey's relationship with his mother is well written and he really gets a chance to shine. Joey is fiercely protective of Adeline, going one-on-one against Cheshire in a fruitless but badass move.
Tumblr media
Amber is an awesome character, working seamlessly with the plot and helping to establish more about Joey's life outside the Titans. Her obvious fondness for Joey is sweet and her loyalty to him ans his mother is a cool way to reveal more about Watchers, Inc. Another thing I like about this story is how genuinely flawed Adeline is. She clearly wants what's best for her son, but she falls short. Ultimately, she's very human. I like seeing a fictional parent who's neither good nor bad with her kid. There are moments of both, as demonstrated so well by this comic.
Tumblr media
My main complaint, as it so often seems to be with the Titans, is that Gar is a massive asshole, to the point he's easily my least favorite member of the team. This story is no exception, seeing Gar jumping to some fairly heinous conclusions and saying some extremely ableist things. It's one of the comics that made me wonder why they keep him around. They make up a few issues later, but the whole thing leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
8) The New Titans Annual 6 I generally avoid stories centered around Tamaran because I don't find it very interesting a setting. That being said, I like this issue alright, a small moment between Nightwing and Jericho especially.
Tumblr media
I'm a sucker for the limitations of humanity being explored. The acknowledgement of those limitations here matched with the resolve to to use the unique skills they bring tot he table has a Star Trek vibe that I love. Also, the accidental reading that these two hooked up at the wedding sends me.
9) Secret Origins (1986) #13 This comic is nothing spectacular, but I really enjoyed it nonetheless. Framing the recounting of Dick's origin as him talking through his memories and anxieties with Joey is a nice one. There are a few really great moments of Joey being reassuring and refusing to let his friend fall into the loner mindset that would firmly take hold a decade later. I like seeing Joey's compassionate side with a character other than Raven, especially a male one. It's a neat change of pace. Overall a pleasant read.
10) Teen Titans Spotlight #3-6 I couldn't resist including this miniseries on the list. The main problem for us now is, of course, Penny. But since Joey's sexuality was a later retcon, something I highly encourage checking this article out to learn more about, it's not doing any real harm.
Joey taking off on a solo adventure with his mother by his side is awesome. There are some fantastic character beats in this one. Joey's grief is well handled and extremely relatable. I've come back tot his comic a few times now, and every time I enjoy myself.

Problematic Faves Cliffs Notes: Harvey Dent/Two-Face
Tumblr media
Batman (1980) #329
Summary: Once a crusading district attorney that worked alongside Batman and Jim Gordon to fight crime – now the duality-obsessed super criminal known as Two-Face.
Harvey Dent also serves as a dark reflection of Batman's own struggles living a dual life with conflicting identities.
Main Goal: To enact his own justice whilst committing crimes.
Fears: Uncertainty, himself in general [the things he's capable of, specifically], losing control, his loved ones dying, his darker half discovering Bruce's secret identity [Detective Comics (2016) #1021], Renee Montoya's rejection [Batman: No Man's Land, novel], and the Joker [Joker (2008), only].
Mindset: Sees himself bound by fate and its will. As a result of Harvey's black-and-white worldviews, he considers his two-headed (scarred on one side) silver dollar a truly objective instrument of justice due to it only yielding two simple, 50/50 outcomes at the end of every coin toss.
"Some people go to the beach to forget their problems. They can watch the waves for hours. I understand the fascination.
There's a pattern – then there is no pattern.
It's the same with the coin. We want it all to mean something – we want to find the pattern – but in the final analysis, it's just waves."
— Harvey Dent, Secret Origins Special (1989) #1
•••
"He was always interested in the law – some might say obsessed. Man's law gave order to Harvey's world – they delineated the parameters of right and wrong, good and evil. They gave him something to believe in."
— Gilda Dent, Secret Origins Special (1989) #1
•••
Hugo Strange: Let's go back further, you were a rising star, a beacon of light for this city. A white knight riding in to save it with the Dark Knight not far behind.
Harvey Dent: You can leave him out of this. He is wrong. They all are. No one understands the beauty of fate's hand. I am grateful to Falcone. He gave me a clarity; a purity that few will know. Everything boils down to a simple choice, this way or that way, good... or bad.
Hugo Strange: Do you really believe that?
Harvey Dent: How could I not?
— Batman: Arkham City
•••
Batman: If you pull the trigger, how are you different from the Roman?
Harvey Dent: That's Jim Gordon talking. You know the system doesn't work. That justice can be decided like the flip of a coin.
— The Long Halloween
•••
"You thought we could be decent men in an indecent time... but you were wrong! The world is cruel. And the only morality in a cruel world is chance. Unbiased, unprejudiced, fair."
— Harvey Dent, The Dark Knight
•••
"Life's a lottery, Holman. It's chance that decides who lives and who dies. Who gets cancer. Which kid is born with spina bifida. Who gets run over by a truck.
This [the coin] is what decides whether or not I blow your wife's brains out."
— Harvey Dent, Joker's Asylum: Two-Face #1

My Review on the Teen Titans(2016) So Far
Tumblr media
Date Written: March/14/2020-March/18/2020
Updated: May/10/2020
[Overall review of Special 1, Annual 1 and Issue #20-40]
Tumblr media
My Opinion So Far [Issue #20-40 written by Adam Glass]:
-> In comparison to the first 19 issues of the Teen Titans, issue 20 and on have been bearable.
-> I will reiterate this over and over again; I will never understand why create new characters (Djinn, Roundhouse and Crush) when DC has a perfect stash of characters that Damian is already acquainted with (Colin, Maya, Surren, Maps and Jon). Although, having characters like Red Arrow (Emiko Queen) and Kid Flash (Wallace West) apart of the Teen Titans is understandable.
-> But again, in comparison to last group of Teen Titans [issue #1-19], I favor this group more. The first 19 issues are just literally Starfire, Beast Boy and Raven parenting Damian in Bruce's absence.
-> In my opinion this group is much more balance in terms of heroing experience:
A) Literally new to being a superhero and working in a group: Djinn, Roundhouse and Crush.
B) Still figuring out their place in superhero world: Robin, Red Robin and Kid Flash.
-> I am totally in favor in Kid Flash being considered the “moral compass” of the group. But so far in the Glass’s run haven’t really seen Wallace really prove this.
->It really shows that Glass had no idea or didn’t bother to do research on Emiko. Glass wrote Emiko as a sort-of Damian clone (And we all know Glass doesn’t write Damian well, so a badly-written-Damian-clone). Emiko is much more sarcastic and upbeat type of individual and wasn’t written that way.
->You can also tell Glass didn’t do research on Wallace. Wallace has a love for comics, is actually quite intelligent and is a prodigy engineer, but none of that was really expressed in the 20 issues.
->Crush, AKA Xiomara Rojas is a character besides the core three that I’ve grown to like. She is an empowered latinx Lesbian feminist who could care less what you think of her. But her backstory is rooted in stereotypical and racist beliefs. Her adoptive parents were druggies who were constantly running away from legal issues...ring a bell? Yea, its the common stereotype that latinos are all drug dealers, a stain on society and always run away from the legal ramifications of their actions. As as a latina myself, this was was extremely disappointing to see.
-> I have a lot of issues with the hyper-focus on Robin, as much as I love Robin content, I feel like like every-other mission the Teen Titan’s have revolves around Robin. I would like to explore Red Arrow, Kid Flash and Roundhouse’s character development more. And I believe writer’s are totally capable of advancing Robin’s character development without the mission being tied to him anyways.
-> I ABSOLUTELY LOVE Robin’s ongoing goal to create a criminal system better than their superhero processors (mainly Batman and Superman) who only arrest criminals in a prison with “a revolving door” which criminals always escape from. Although, I ABSOLUTELY hate how Adam Glass has handled how Robin has gone upon learning the best system.
Tumblr media
-> I have to admit, I like how most of the members are comprised of teens that...
A) Been raised/used to kill; Robin, Red Arrow and Djinn.
B) Are related to villainous characters; Robin, Red Arrow, Kid Flash, Djinn and Crush.
In the words of Kid Flash, the Teen Titans are just, “a bunch of screwed up kids,”
-> I strongly dislike the love triangle that Adam Glass (the previous writer) was creating between Robin, Crush and Djinn. I felt like Djinn was just created to mimic the popularity of Damian x Raven and it just lessens the value of characters like Crush and Djinn. (Plus I am on the side that believes that Robin should developing his friendships before developing a romantic interest). Hopefully, Robbie Thompson (New and current writer), will throw that idea in the trash. Although I wouldn't mind Djinn × Crush though😶.
-> Also I hate the connection Adam Glass created between Robin and Roundhouse (Billy Wu). It was soo unnecessary, and he could've found another creative way to get Djinn a trapped in her ring🙄.
-> Love the growing friendship between..
1. Robin and Red Arrow
2. Red Arrow and Crush
3. Kid Flash and Roundhouse
4. Crush and Djinn
5. (Would like to see Robin and Kid Flash’s friendship grow)
Tumblr media
-> The build up to "The Other" for over 18 issues [Issue #20-38] was disappointing. I am still trying to understand the villain motivations because it made no sense whatsoever besides the obvious fact that Adam Glass was attempting to give Robin yet another useless redemption arc he didn't need.
-> Excited at the connection between “The Book of the Damned” and Batman #666 ( I will most likely make a post expanding on this). This offers an explanation as to why Damian was suddenly using magic in that one Batman issue and claiming he could take down Superman with magic in another issue.
Tumblr media
-> Robin's "Prison", AKA torture chamber. Although it's not out of Damian's character to believe that his father's way of imprisoning villains in Gotham is GREATLY lacking better security, I DO NOT THINK DAMIAN WOULD CREATE A PRISON, much less a torture chamber. Damian does research on ALL the batfamily including his own father, he would know that Bruce attempted something similar  and failed which would make Damian hesitant about creating his own. Instead of developing his character this whole fiasco with the prison just ruined it and gave Damian haters another tool in their arsenal to “prove” Damian is evil (which no, its just bad writing).
Tumblr media
-> Yes, I will acknowledge that Robin is not the kindest of the batch. But Blackmailing Black Mask with threatening to put his son's life endanger-even if he was bluffing-would not be something Robin would do. Robin is known to have compassion for children (*cough cough* Batman: Streets of Gotham) and wouldn't use a child as leverage to get his way EVEN if he was desperate.
-> Robin basking in the pain of his prisoners. LIKE EXCUSE ME, WTF. Like Robin does enjoy beating up criminals who deserve it but the way Adam Glass wrote it made it seem like Robin was a sadist and a psychopath.
-> Pissed off they killed Emiko’s development by killing Deathstroke. There really wasn’t any real reason given as to why Emiko “killed” Deathstroke.
-> Don't get me started on the fight between Red Hood and Robin. JUST DON’T.
But I have hope:
Tumblr media
Teen Titans issue #39 and #40 written by Adam Glass and Robbie Thompson.
As you may or may not know, Robbie Thompson has now replaced Adam Glass as a writer. And his first issue he worked on was released February [issue #39] and I've already been seeing some improvements. Robbie will be fully taking over after issue #41.
-> Robin has stepped down as leader. Leadership in the Teen Titans will now be a collaborative approach.
-> The Teen Titans struggling and learning on working as a group instead of working under one leader. They've already failed their first mission as a team without Robin as leader. Which I'll give them a break for, they've recognized how poorly their plan was executed themselves. But this just shows that the writer is demonstrating that the Teen Titan's is still learning how to best work together without a leader.
-> Robbie Thompson is now writing Damian more in character. Instead of writing him off as an asshole for no reason like previous writers.
-> Confirmed Damian went to hell after being killed by Heretic. With an added plus of the Teen Titan’s finally learning a bit more about Robin’s past.
-> Brought up Damian’s ongoing internal struggle of finding his own path that isn’t influenced by his father or his grandfather.
-> I’ve gotta admit, issue #40 has exceeded my low expectations I have set for the past 19 issues.
What I am Actually Looking Forward to [Upcoming Issues]:
Teen Titans #41 / Teen Titans Annual #2
Written by Adam Glass and Robbie Thompson
-> Finally, we get Batman's involvement in all this. I just hope he doesn't beat up Damian like he did Jason 😒. I’d like to add there was actually foreshadowing for this encounter in Teen Titans #26 (I believe).
-> But the only reason I am looking forward to this because it seems like Robin has been keeping this new group of Teen Titan’s secret (including their base), or at least heavily restricting Batman’s involvement.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
-> And even though I think I know why Damian has been trying to keep this new Teen Titans a secret from Batman (if my theory is correct), I'm curious to hear it myself from him (if the reason is written well).
-> Don't get me wrong, I am pissed that the writers decided Batman is going to fire Robin. Although, I am not against Damian being his own superhero (I actually don’t want Robin to take up the Batman mantle), but I can see DC writers abusing this. Killing his character development and making him evil like they've been foreshadowing in some comics 😒.
-> Although, I am not sure if it's really gonna happen, or Damian got the memo, because Damian appears to wear the Robin outfit in future covers of the Teen Titans.
-> I am excited the current Teen titans getting a glimpse of Batman's and Robin's current strained relationship(maybe even learning more about Robin’s upbringing). The Teen Titans (except Red Arrow) are always criticizing Robin for his way of thinking without questioning the influence to his thinking.
Teen Titans #42
Written by Robbie Thompson
->Batman kicking them out of Mercy Hall?  I am actually kinda of excited for a Teen Titans without a base.
-> But I wanna know what this means; less oversight by Batman or more?
-> I wonder what will motivate the team to retrieve Robin back into their team? The only one's who actually seem to have some sort of relationship with Robin is Red Arrow and Djinn, besides them, everyone seems to despise Robin
Teen Titans #43
Written by Robbie Thompson
-> We are FINALLY getting a proper reaction from Robin to Nightwing's near death. What we got from Nightwing Annual was definitely not enough.
-> Apparently, Damian goes on a hunt for KGBeast (who shot Dick). Which I don't see as out of character because we all know how much Damian cares for Dick, who is a brother and father figure to Damian (more than Bruce).
-> Hopefully, the Teen Titans don't let him kill or have lethal vengeance against KGBeast because that would just kill his character development 😡.
->I wonder if this issue will tie in with the Joker War where apparently Dick is suppose to get his memories back. I doubt it, but thought I’d mentioned it.
I've been reading Teen Titans because I've been desperate for new Damian content. But it seems like the comic is finally starting to get interesting with Robbie on board.
I wanted to give you an honest review on what I've thought of the Teen Titans so far just in case you've been on the fence about reading it or not. I've tried not to hold back on my criticism so my review is as honest as it can be.
So I'll leave it to you guys to decide whether you will read it or not.

Roman Sionis Post-Rebirth Reference
It was pointed out to be that Roman has some of the worst continuity post-rebirth, so I thought I’d put together a collection of all his different statuses.
DC Rebirth officially started in late May 2016, and I’m going to include all appearances after that point.
All-Star Batman: Issues 2-5, 11-13 (Nov 2016 - Oct 2017) Roman wears the gimp mask with no mouth. You can, however, see his (flesh and blood) jaw in what might be an art error. Spends the time hanging out with Great White and Penguin. Ends up seriously injured in issue 13.
Tumblr media
Catwoman V5: Issue 4 (Dec 2018) Traditional skull look. Appears in a flashback only.
Tumblr media
Harley Quinn V3: Issue 35 (March 2018) Gimp mask look. Single panel, is hanging out in Arkham Asylum.
Tumblr media
Red Hood and the Outlaws V2: Issues 1-6 (Oct 2016 - March 2017) Appears to have the gimp mask, turns out to have the skull fused to his face underneath. Ends up in a coma at the end of issue 6.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Teen Titans V6: Issues 20, 22, 26, Special (June 2018 - March 2019) Is a normal man wearing a broken black skull mask. Recently freed from Arkham, he ends up imprisoned, leading into the Terminus Agenda.
Tumblr media
Terminus Agenda: Crossover [Teen Titans 28, Deathstroke 42, Teen Titans 29, Deathstroke 43, Teen Titans 30] (May 2019 - July 2019) Same as his Teen Titans design. Is still at present (Aug 2019) being held under the Teen Titans Base, having not been seen since this crossover.

Lilian Worth and Rose Wilson: their origin story (part 1)
Rose Wilson was first introduced in 1992 (Deathstroke #15) and at the time she was around 14. This means that she was born in 1978 therefore Slade and Lili met in 1977/1978. Of course this is comics we’re talking about so while this dates aren’t 100% accurate, it’s certain they met between 1975 and 1979.
Disclaimer: Before I go any further I want to emphasize that while I’ve done some research I’m sure there are many things I can’t truly understand about the history of these countries and their dynamics. I want to apologize for any mistakes I might make in this post!
Tumblr media
Now is the time for a quick history lesson, taken straight out of the wikipedia. In case you aren’t interested, skip the text in italic. (warning: mentions of torture, death and child abuse in the cambodian genocide section)
“The Vietnam War extended into the country with the US bombing of Cambodia from 1969 until 1973. Following the Cambodian coup of 1970 which installed the right-wing pro-US Khmer Republic, the deposed king gave his support to his former enemies, the Khmer Rouge. The Khmer Rouge emerged as a major power, taking Phnom Penh in 1975 and later carrying out the Cambodian genocide from 1975 until 1979, when they were ousted by Vietnam [...].”
“The Cambodian genocide was carried out by the Khmer Rouge regime under the leadership of Pol Pot, inflicting a population loss between 21 and 24 percent of Cambodia’s 1975 population. In order to fulfill their goals, the Khmer Rouge emptied the cities and forced Cambodians to relocate to labor camps in the countryside, where mass executions, forced labor, physical abuse, malnutrition, and disease were prevalent. Approximately 20,000 people passed through Security Prison S-21, one of the 196 prisons operated by the Khmer Rouge, and only 7 adults survived. The opposition were taken to the Killing Fields, where they were executed (often with pickaxes to save bullets) and buried in mass graves. The abduction and indoctrination of children was widespread, and many were persuaded or forced to commit atrocities. The Vietnamese invasion of Cambodia ended the genocide by defeating the Khmer Rouge in 1979.”
This is the background in which Slade and Lilian Worth met. The panel said that the local princess (Lilian) was kept in Siem Pang Wat. By the way, Wat is a type of Buddhist and Hindu temple in Cambodia. Siem Pang (part of Stung Treng Province, in north-east Cambodia) according to google maps is located:
Tumblr media
Btw I love that Rose is technically a princess and has royal blood:
Tumblr media
Back to the story, Slade and his team found them and the rescue began:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
While witnessing the above, someone on Slade’s team screamed in horror and the Khmer Rouge noticed them:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Their love story aside, this was their original plan (before Slade was shot):
Tumblr media
According to wikipedia again: “The Mekong is a trans-boundary river in Southeast Asia. From the Tibetan Plateau the river runs through China's Yunnan Province, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam.”
Here’s a map of the river, the bright red dot is ~ where Siem Pang is located:
Tumblr media
Their plan, as mentioned above, was to go to Thailand and more specifically:
Tumblr media
Khukhan (without a space) is a district of Sisaket province in northeast Thailand:
Tumblr media
This is a detailed map of Sisaket province, Khukhan is number 5:
Tumblr media
They managed to get there but Slade lost all his men and “Sweet Lili” lost all her girls and from there they went their seperate ways. We don’t know what happened until present time when Slade and Wintergreen find Lilian at her "house”. The only information we get is that she and Slade have some contact and that Slade has no idea about Rose Wilson.
This is Rose’s cameo in the issue by the way:
Tumblr media
(all panels above were taken from Deathstroke #15)
But Rose and Lili’s origins don’t end here. After #15 which was published in 1992 they appear again in late 1994 and Marv Wolfman seems to have forgotten some tiny minor details such as the fact that Lili is Cambodian (she was a local princess in Siem Pang which is in Cambodia) and was captured by the Khmer Rouge who Lili said they “tortured her people”.
So in Deathstroke #43 (1995) we have this panel:
Tumblr media
“We were trained by the dread Khmer Rouge in Cambodia and we know how to make death very painful.”
(Making Lili, from being a cambodian to a former member of the Kher Rouge/ collaborator is offensive but anyway...)
And in Deathstroke #45 (1995) this one:
Tumblr media
Wolfman made some other changes. Since it’s solid that Lilian has been living in NY ever since she left Asia, this means that with the new changes she and Wintergreen have met earlier. Which leads to the coclusion that Wintergreen was with Slade during his rescue mission to save Lilian and her girls and that they saved a local princess in Vietnam! This could also explain why Priest made Rose vietnamese (Hmong) in rebirth.
I’m not sure if Wolfman just forgot or he changed their origin on purpose. I can see why he might have done the latter. If Rose was 14 in 1995 this means that she was born in 1981 and her parent met at least a year after the genocide was over, so Lili’s rescue story doesn’t work like it did in 1992. This might also be the reason as to why Priest decided to stick with the Vietnam origin in rebirth since theMy opinion though? I don’t think it truly matters why he made that change, I wish Wolfman (and Priest later) had decided to stick with the first origin.  chronologies don’t work in 2016.
My opinion though? I don’t think it truly matters why he made that change, I wish Wolfman (and Priest later) had decided to stick with the first origin.

Wonder Woman Complete Reading Guide
dailywonderfam’s 1k followers celebration: part 1
Diana Prince is one of DC’s most famous characters, with a rich history of more than 75 years! In the following guideline we will try to be as detailed as possibe but we’re sure that will inevitably miss something. Our plan is to include her most important appearances from her debut in All Star Comics #8 (1941) until November 2017. For the sake of brevity, we’ve chosen to put the stories we judged as most essential or most enjoyable in bold!
The list under the cut is separated in 5 parts:
Pre Crisis Era (1941-1986)
Post Crisis Era (1987-2011)
New 52 Era (2011-2016)
Rebirth Era (2016-2017)
Out of main continuity Graphic Novels and Stories
Tumblr media
All Star Comics (1940) #8 (Debut), 11-57 Sensation Comics (1942) #1-106 [#1-8] Wonder Woman (1942) #1-329 [#1, 7, 21, 28, 63, 66, 98, 99, 107, 127, 159, 163, 178, 179, 200-202, 204-206, 212-23, 270, 271, 287-289, 291-293, 300, 308, 329] Comics Cavalcade (1942) #1-29 The Brave and the Bold (1955) #28-30 (creation of justice league), 63, 78, 87, 105, 131, 140, 158 Justice League of America (1960) #1, 2-261 +Annual 1-3 Super Friends (1976) #1-47 All-Star Squadron (1981) #1-4, 13-60 + Annual 1-3
Tumblr media
Note: In team titles we have bolded the stories that are centered around Diana! Her most important title is her second volume (1987-2005) and because of it’s… interesting story we decided to write a brief (personal) opinion about each team and also include some trigger warnings.
Wonder Woman v2 (1987) #1-226 + Annuals #1-8 + Wonder Woman Special #1 (1992) + Secret files and Origins #1-3
George Perez: #1-62 +Annuals #1,2  [#1-24 +Annual #1, 25-40, 41-44, 45-50, 51-57]
Perez is one of the classic Wonder Woman writers; he reinvented her origins and he managed to showcase who she is as a person, in a way that few writers ever did. His run is not without it’s faults, his writing is too wordy and very dry at times and some of his themes are very dated. But besides these faults, it’s a very good read that it’s worthy of your time.  warning: mentions of rape and even some dated views about this matter
William Messner Loebs: Wonder Woman Special #1, #63, #64-89, 0, 90-100 + Annuals #3,4
If George Perez is one of the best Wonder Woman writers, then Loebs is the one of the worst. At best his run is a silly 90s nonsense (like Diana being a space pirate), but Loebs’ worst is unforgivable. The only memorable things about his run is the Brian Bolland covers and the introduction of Artemis of Bana Mighdall. His writing alongside Mike Deodato Jr’s criminally awful art is one of the worst things that happened to Wonder Woman’s comics. warning: if you do decide to read this run keep in mind that in #100 there’s a graphic, hypersexualized torture/ death scene.
John Byrne: #101-136 + Annuals #5,6 [#105-107, 122-127]
John Byrne’s run continues the 90s silly nonsense but this time is not criminally bad, maybe a little forgetable (or even boring?). The most important things were the introduction of Cassie Sandsmark, Donna’s well intentioned but confusing new origins, Artemis becoming Cassie’s trainer, Hippolyta going back in time and becoming the Wonder Woman of WW2/Golden Age of comics. But to be fair, Byrne brought back together the Wonderfam and he gave us some very sweet moments between them!
Eric Luke: #139-159 + Annuals #7, 8 [Annual #8, #154-155]
Christopher Priest’s wrote 2 bad issues (#137-138) before Luke took over the title. His run is very forgetable, the only event worth mentioning was the re-introduction of Nubia, and that wasn’t even him but Doselle Young, who guest wrote the bolded issues above…
Phil Jimenez #164-188 [#164-170, 174-176, 177]
Before Jimenez, the great Brian K. Vaughan guest wrote two issues (#160-161) the story is pretty forgetable but fun. Jimenez, clearly loves Wonder Woman; it’s obvious from the first issue. His run wasn’t great but it was good, better than anything we had since Perez. He suffered from some of the same issues as Perez and Byrne did; notably that the pages were too wordy and tiring. He tried to fix as many mistakes as he could from the bad previous 100 issues of this volume, and while he didn’t always succeed,  he tried. He developed the relationship between the wonderfam as no one else before or after him did. All things considered, Jimenez’s run is the strongest Wonder Woman run since Perez.
Greg Rucka: #195-226
Greg Rucka. That’s all we have to say. This is the best run ever in any Wonder Woman comic ever. Read every single issue! Even better, before start this run read first his solo graphic novel Wonder Woman: Hiketeia!
  Wonder Woman (2006) #1-44, 600, 601-614 + Annual #1
- 1-4 + Annual 1,  Gail Simone’s run (#14-44,600): 14-19, 20-35, 36, 37, 38, 39, 44, 600
Team Titles
Justice League/ Justice League America (1987) #40-77. She becomes the leader in #78, #78-113 + Annual #6-8. Collected: vol 1, vol 2 JLA (1997) #1-125 + Annuals #1-4 + 80 Page Giant #1-3 + JLA  Secret Files. Diana centered issues are: #47-54, 62-64, 78-79, 90 JLA Classified (2005) #1-54 [1-5, 10-21] Justice League of America (2006) #0, 1-39, 41 Trinity (2008) #1-52
Other Appearances
52 (2006) #1-11, 12, 13, 17, 24, 25, 33, 41, 47-52 Brave and the Bold (2007) #7, 33 Outsiders Five of a Kind: Wonder Woman and Grace (2007) #1 Secret Six (2008) #10-14 Blackest Night: Wonder Woman (2009) #1-3 Flashpoint featuring Wonder Woman (2011) [collected volume]
Tumblr media
New 52 is the worst thing to happen to her, we don’t recommend any of these, the bolded ones are only reluctantly recommended.
Wonder Woman (2011) #0-52 + Annual #1 Justice League (2011) #3-50 Superman/Wonder Woman (2013) #1-29 Batwoman (2011) #12-17 Aquaman Annual #2 (2014) Deathstroke (2014) #7-10 + Annual #1 Secret Origins (2014) #6 Teen Titans (2014) #17-19  Convergence: Wonder Woman (2015) #1-2
Tumblr media
Rebirth is the current DC comics continuity, and features a Wonder Woman title that was excellent at its best! We recommend the rebirth Wonder Woman title for the first 30 issues, particularly #0-#25, which was Greg Rucka’s character redefining return to writing Wonder Woman comics. After Rucka, Shea Fontana wrote a nice but unremarkable 5 issue arc, and after Fontana, James Robinson became the new writer, and his Wonder Woman comics are better left unread.
