asking many personal questions and always being a little too curious

yet whenever they are being asked about their personal life they either sidestep or ignore the questions

acting differently around different people (example: character A and character B took a taxi instead of driving with them to a certain destination; they are angry about it and shake their anger out on character A and only minutes apart they pretend to be super kind while interacting with character B)

sharing other people's secrets

constantly lying

when they need help they're there, but when other people need their help they are nowhere to be seen

having no shame (example: offering an apartment that is in a bad condition to character A's partner and asking for a ridiculous amount of money because they know that character A is a good person and would help them out because they are acquainted/not recognizing when they are doing something wrong (or not accepting the fact that they can make mistakes too) and therefore not apologizing)

being friends/acquainted with other people just to use them for their advantage (example: they avoid other people as much as possible and only interact with them when they need something/helping other people when they want and getting something in return for helping them)

Loath vs loathe vs loathsome vs loathing

Common grammar mistakes are mixing the words loath, loathe, loathsome and loathing. What do they actually mean?

Loath Means You're Reluctant

When you are loath to do or try something, you really don't want to do it. A synonym for loath would be "strongly reluctant." Loath only functions as an adjective in a sentence, and it never comes before the noun it describes.

Examples:

I'm loath to reschedule the meeting a second time.

The traffic is really bad, so Sherry was loath to take the freeway.

My baby is loath to sleep without her pacifier.

Many teens are loath to talk to their parents about school.

Kiera hates being scared, so she's loath to see the new horror movie.

Loathe Means You Hate It

The verb loathe is usually what people are trying to use when they're choosing between loath and loathe. It describes the action of hating or disliking something very strongly.

Examples:

I loathe rescheduling meetings for a second time.

Sherry loathes driving on the freeway when traffic is bad.

My baby loathes sleeping without her pacifier.

Many teens loathe talking to their parents about school.

Kiera loathes seeing horror movies because they scare her.

And what of loathsome?

Even though it is spelled without the e (spelling it with the e—loathesome—is a common mistake), it is related to and pronounced like loathe. Loathsome is an adjective that can come before the noun it describes, such as "the loathsome crocodile" or "my loathsome math homework."

Why Loathing Gets Tricky

Many people mix up loath and loathe because of the word loathing. It has no -e at the end, like loath, but it's the present progressive form of the verb loathe. That's because loathe drops the -e when it changes tense, just like the verbs clothe (to clothing) and bathe (to bathing).

I miss the gentle smiles you gave me whenever I said something funny, your face would light up like a little star in the night. I miss the warm summers spent taking walks in nature, we would talk endlessly and even after you walked me home we would talk in front of my door for hours. I miss the cold winters when we spent most of our time indoors, cuddling into each other under the blanket, watching movies and simply absorbing each other's presence. Long distance relationships are a bittersweet experience; sad and teary-eyed goodbyes in the early hours of the morning and happy reunions in summer. How my heart breaks whenever I see you go, I long for the day when I will finally wake up in your presence, entangled into you.
