Romantic Yes Man HCs

Yes Man is a veryyy romantic guy and always does everything he can to make you feel loved. He's constantly cooking food for you, snagging valuables you might like, or even just complimenting you as you're mindlessly walking in the Mojave.

He's very clingy. He doesn't really have anything else to do so he mostly just follows you around like a lost puppy, waiting for your attention to shift to him.

He's one of those guys who will try to give you statistics on why you should or shouldn't do something. He means the best, even if it can get annoying.

He's a little masochistic in the way that he wouldn't mind if you spat insults or undermined him in any way. He most likely fell in love with you after you freed him from The Tops so, no matter what you do, he'll always be head over heels in love with you.

He could honestly talk to you for hours, it could be about whatever you wanted and he'd gladly listen and ask questions, or if you preferred, he'd love to gossip about the things he's heard on the Strip.

He loves hugging you. There's just something so intimate in the way you let him wrap his heavy metal arms around you.

HUGE acts of service guy. You'll wake up to your home spotless and organized, or he went out and complete the quests you didn't want to do. He especially loves helping you bathe. Not necessarily in a sexual way, he just really likes taking care of you.

He gets overprotective and jealous quick. So many people were out for Benny and he's so scared that there are people out for you as well. He has a constant guard-up due to this and can come off as vaguely threatening to most.

He really likes the party hats. They're what he imagines friendship bracelets are and would be so happy if you agreed to wear one with him.

He really likes to fidget with or hold your hand.

Yes Man wants to have a more domestic life with you where you both live up in the Lucky 38, or wherever else you want, and just run a casino or something. Anything besides being in a constant state of danger wandering the Mojave.

The one downside with him is that he's horrible at planning dates. He just can't seem to figure it all out, so you'll have to be the one to initiate and plan outings like that.

He'd melt if you ever did something for him. It could honestly be anything, he'd just be so appreciative.

His memory is like a steel trap, there's not a single thing about you that he's ever forgotten. Allergies, important dates, favorite color, your likes, and dislikes, all stored away in his memory chip. He adores every detail about you.

He can also be slightly obsessive, but he means well <3

i have this weird headcanon of percy and annabeth getting married. they says their vows through sobs, hard for the audience to understand, but they hear each other clear as day. the words tattoo on their skin since they kissed underwater all those years ago. chiron officiates and announce them newly weds. they kiss. percy cries into her shoulder and annabeth holds him amid the crowds tearful applause. sally's awaiting by the door with a pistol in her hands in case a monster wants to try her. it's a beautiful sight really. and i should write this.

He’s rich with a BIG ass property

Someone needs to cut that grass, fix up the flowers, trim a few trees, help the vegetables and fruits not get tangled, make sure the grave-yard doesn’t get overrun with weeds, etc etc

Do they find out he’s Batman purely by making a wrong turn with the mower? Yes. Do they say shit about fuck? Nope. They’re just happy that this tiny ass company that had like 5 people (3 related to the owner) is getting sudden hires/interest by others to actually say anything to anyone about Mr. Wayne and his kids’ activities at nighttime

i like the idea of din introducing luke to his tribe like "and this is my lesbian sister, bo-katan. she's cool, i guess. and this is my little brother, paz" and luke thinks din's talking about ragnar so he crouches to his level and is like "hi, little guy, din's told me a lot about you" only for this giant hunk of metal man to lift luke by the scruff of his robes and be like "i hope you're treating my big brother well"

luke is utterly flabbergasted and din is warning paz to "put him down before his droid attacks you." when luke is finally back on the ground he turns to din, mildly amused and extremely confused. "you said paz was younger than you."

In His Eyes - Blade

A short drabble on assassin/businessman Blade being in love with his Mrs.

The study room is deadly quiet. Normally the space is filled with people of all sorts, playing Connect 4, making phone calls or getting yelled at by Blade. But today, there is a pin-drop silence with not a single soul in sight, except for the two figures on the sofa in the middle of the room. Blade is sitting in the centre of the couch with one hand holding his wine glass while the other one lies across the sofa top as he observes the other figure. His woman is sitting in between his legs resting her head on his chest as she snores softly, almost syncing with the deep breaths of the man who is watching her intently. Her hands lay loosely on his lap as she peacefully snoozes in the comfort of her man.

His eyes are filled with a tenderness none of his subordinates will ever have the right to see. The gentleness in his usually ablaze crimson eyes is one reserved for her and her only, especially in such moments of domestic solitude. A small smile spreads across his face as he swirls his wine absentmindedly and brings his free hand to rest on her waist. He wonders what she's dreaming about as she sleeps so contently in his arms.

It doesn’t take long before the door bursts open with his assistant’s voice flooding the room.

“Boss!”

He immediately clasps his mouth shut when he notices the mrs sleeping and the deadly glare Blade throws his way. The man on the sofa scowls as he feels her stir slightly in her sleep, softly squeezing her waist to assure her she can continue sleeping before turning to look at the assistant again.

In the pin drop silence of the room, Blade quietly issues his warning.

“Unless you want your tongue cut off next time, look before you speak."

The assistant nods hurriedly as beads of sweat roll down the side of his face and he bows before scurrying off. When the door closes shut, Blade looks back at her and kisses her head, smiling once again at the existence of his woman.

Saw a Take earlier today like "Ed stans have only 1 argument and it's accusing everyone who likes Izzy of being problematic" or something to that effect

and it made me think "Nah babe, you're not problematic. You're just wrong."

And then I thought. Huh. Why do I think that?

It's a perfectly respectable thing to read a text in a way it wasn't intended to be read. In fact, "reading against the grain", doing critical readings, shifting perspectives when engaging with a text - all of thee are important skills! You can, and should, do feminist, antiracist, postcolonial, queer, etc readings of texts that were never intended to be read that way. Hell, all fandom (often) is, is doing queer readings! Ask the text uncomfortable questions it doesn't want to answer!

However. It's pretty difficult to do a queer reading when the text already is a queer narrative. The questions you would ask the text if you did a queer reading, or a reading focused on gender roles, or similar things - those are questions the text is already actively exploring.

If you want to do a subversive reading of a text that is already quite subversive - what do you end up with?

"What's the story like from Izzy's perspective?" is a question ofmd deliberately doesn't focus too much on because Izzy's perspective is the default and ofmd wants to challenge that. There's a reason the angry white man is the antagonist in this show, and if you ask "Okay, but could he be right though?" you're missing the point.

Or rather, you're turning everything that's interesting about ofmd back around. You're asking "Okay, but why don't we focus on a white perspective that strictly adheres to oppressive power structures?" of a narrative who already asked itself this question and gave the answer "Because that's been done enough and there are other stories worth telling."

And I think people are aware of that, which is how we end up with completely bizarre takes like "Izzy has the only queer character arc". He hasn't, but he has the only arc that a queer reading can be done on - for everyone else it's text, plain and simple. Refusing to engage with that text in favour of centering Izzy is basically doing a heteronormative reading without being willing to admit it to yourself.

And no, interpreting Izzy as a queer man doesn't change that.

he’s become much more gentler now, tried bargaining with other captains instead of using brute force to get his way. due to your input, he actually feeds the captives. it might be the scraps left behind by the crew but it’s food all the same.

piratecaptain!Miguel who sleep doesn’t come easy to. he walks the creaky planks of the ship at night until either his eyes become far to heavy to keep open or the person on night watch forces him to bed.

piratecaptain!Miguel who doesn't know that you know how bad his insomnia is and is pleasantly surprised to find a tankard full of herbal tea. naturally, he’s suspicious at first but when he realises that it’s lavender tea he knows it’s safe to drink.

only you know he likes it. he shared it one time, a late night celebration after the crew had successfully raided a surprisingly wealthy village. he had confided that he’d been teased for it being too feminine’ and, of course, you had laughed at him, told him how childish it was and scolded him for accepting such ignorance to manipulate what he can and cannot enjoy.

piratecaptain!Miguel who now knows you know and it brings a strange warmth to his body. you care about him, in some small tiny way that isn’t forced upon you due to his role, you thought of him and it feels… nice.
