he honestly hates admitting defeat, but he'll apologise in an instant if it means he can squish your cheeks again

and if you still aren't having it he's just gonna pinch your cheeks until you're sick of him pestering you

he's really fucking annoying if you didn't notice

but also at the same time if you’re the type of person to puff your cheeks when you’re frustrated or annoying or just being petty

his favourite thing to do is to pinch a circle of your cheek and poke it constantly

now for the origin story aka his reaction when he found out just squishy your cheeks were

oikawa and you had been dating for about two months now. there was no doubt that those two months were some of the best times you’d ever had. but there was still a bit of awkwardness between the two of you. there was a distance you didn’t understand, and you knew he felt it too. it’s not like he hid secrets from you, or that he was emotionally unavailable and didn’t disclose any of his feelings. no. it was mostly the fact that the two of you hadn’t kissed yet. nowhere. not the cheek, not the forehead, and of course not the mouth. it’s not like you didn’t do any touching, in-fact you were constantly hugging each other and holding hands. but the thought of kissing made the two of you blush like idiots and act like stupid children. you were stupid children. but today was different. you felt different. it was your 12th date, it was at the arcade, there was some big prize this weekend and oikawa was keen to get it for you, even if you simply didn’t care. so, you put on your favourite outfit and made your way to the date. there was a new photo booth opening that day. gosh it was like the whole place was being renovated just for your date. so of course, you obliged. it was a bit cramped but you made it work. you were sitting on his lap. the first one was just a sweet smile. the second a heart you made with both your hands acting as the two halves. the third was a silly one, your tongue sticking out and eyes shut yet smiling. but the fourth one was different. it was almost like time had slowed down. you felt oikawa shift a bit under you and as the bright flash blinded you, you felt his lips on your soft cheeks. before you could react he pulled away, looking at you a bit puzzled. then he kissed your cheek again. and again. and again. then his face lit up. “they’re like pillows.” “oh shut up.

ok i got thoughts on leafs contract negotiations and they may be unpopular... or you're just not interested, which is actually v smart bc it only ever makes ur blood boil to get riled up over something u have 0% control over. Just not a smart way to live life

AM34 does not deserve to be the highest paid player in the league. puhleeeeez *rolling my eyes in natemac* this is a salary cap league and he barely comes in clutch in the playoffs. Like what nonsense world are we operating in rn dude

Bunts isn't going to get re-signed by Leafs and i think that's a good thing for him. He got more eyes on him here in Toronto after arizona and now needs to go build his own rep outside of here cuz rn he gots leafs stank on him practically a stigma. His style of play and willingness to defend his teammates is seen as a negative by the league when that's a prized trait on any other team. So yea time for him to fly the coop he needs to go off into the land and show the refs and league what a dedicated and devoted team player he is and stop fuckin picking on him (that playoffs 3-game suspension would've been 1-2 anywhere else; that was penalization for being a leaf. george parros career ended vs the leafs so we get pigeon-shit on at every turn)

Willy deserves to think he should be in the range of the salaries of am, mm, jt. Only gd fella who shows up for the playoffs and continuously improves and just had his best season and scored on par w AM. Sometimes she's her, and sometimes she's not, but regardless she doesn't have all of her memories

Thyme it’s so used to people approaching him with other intentions and that the one time (that we’ve seen) he opened up and tried to welcome someone new in his life, he felt so betrayed he even declared war on his life long friend.

However I think Gorya it’s doing the best she can, considering he had only seen violence and pure evil prior to any close interaction with Thyme and tho she had seen Ren being complacent (she mentions it in the first ep too) she didn’t felt like he wasn’t an awful person bc he retired from watching violent acts and idk teenage crushes. It’s no wonder she’s wary, doubtful and confused about her feelings it’s not like a 17 year old can rationalize easily, being vulnerable and sensible towards a person who she considers evil will not be easy at all, the zoo incident proves it (saying “you’re still the same) she’s scared of Thyme just pretending to change in order to start a relationship with her (idk maybe her thinking goes back to the doll story).

I know we all love how much effort Thyme has been putting on being someone that she can be proud of calling her partner, but she hasn’t and it’s normal because it doesn’t even seem like that much time has passed either? Also they’re just starting to get to know each other (literally had 1 1/2 dates) the drama it’s definitely using their time wisely. I just really wanted to understand both sides Thyme only knows betrayal and being put to the side (throwback to when he said “Everyone loves Ren” and I think u said? “Nobody loves Thyme”) Gorya has had healthy role models of love through her entire life so it makes sense her not being keen on start to be open towards someone that she didn’t really had the best impression. Wrecker anon here :c I’m so sad the episode ended like that

For real though, all that Thyme has ever experienced is betrayal, spying and people telling him how to live, his whole life trajectory is predestined by Cruella de Mommy.

We know he knows that. Plus his abandonment issues guarantee that if a girl whom he has come to adore and understand her POV slights him, he won't go easy on her. But I think he is mad at Ren.

He is mad at Ren for breaking the bro code. He is reeling from the misunderstanding between him and Gorya, willing to apologise he suddenly feels like an idiot. His mind is racing. So I was willing to say sorry and here she is hugging Ren? WTF?

I mean I get it.

Also, regarding Gorya. She is young yes so it's hard to know your own heart. While Thyme grew up prematurely which is what makes him so mature vs innocent sometimes, the dichotomy of his actions lies in the trauma of his childhood, right?

All kids that grow up too fast have this complex trademark in their behaviour. Infantile and mature simultaneously.

So for Gorya to trust either of them --its got to be perplexing. They are not from her world and she has made concessions for Thyme. While Ren offers her a warm hug, she knows he is in love with someone else, but has that ever stopped anyone from wanting your crush???

On the other hand, Thyme still has moments when he is either extremely submissive to her (almost to his own detriment because it hurts him) like when he says 'I will wait for you' moment and then he goes the opposite way of demanding to have his own way about the date or for her to ask him nicely.

That sort of juxtaposition in his behaviour confuses her. Like one min he is sweet and tender and next he petulant and what's worse she's seen his violent side.

This show stays authentic to the characters and doesn't push for the sake of plot. It's driven by them and that is a hallmark of a good script.

(Concept, part 1, part 2) Thank u anon that’s so nice, I appreciate you sending these asks :) and these all very good questions.... that I don’t really know the answer to because again my memory is bad! But uh:

The council! Ok so this will probably be a bit confusing but before I answer this I have to explain the two ideas I had going into this: 1) was that anakin continues to work with palpatine and periodically runs into obi-wan over the years, they fight but maybe develop a bit of a friendly rivalry rather then full on hate each other (although neither of them would admit it). Vader would be slightly more chill then his canon counterpart- more fun evil then sad evil I think. Not sure if that’d be too ooc but I always love fun villains so whatever

The council’s reaction to this would probably be roughly similar to their feelings about maul or ventress- just a threat to the galaxy they’d be keen on taking down. I do think they’d be worried about obi-wan though- at the start because he’s poured everything into trying to track vader down instead of processing his feelings about qui gon dying, and later because and later because of the bond he’s started to have with anakin. THAT BEING SAID I think they’d be pretty concerned about anakins power levels, but I think he’d be a fairly mysterious figure that (maybe until the clone wars) hasn’t done a whole lot- at least not that can be tracked back to him. They’re being cautious but also aside from qui gons dying words maybe they wouldn’t even be sure he exists (obi-wan strongly objects to this notion) (more under the cut)

OK SECOND OPTION (I just have a lot of ideas ok!): the reason I came up with this au in the first place I’m pretty sure was because I had the idea of a jedi obi-wan trying to train a tiny sith anakin and help him with yknow. Emotional control and shit. SO the other idea I had was obi-wan manages to find anakin pretty quickly and goes “oh shit. This is a child. Wtf” and then decides since he can’t fight him in good conscience he has no choice to but to try to train him. Anakin obviously has some objections to this because yknow.. he killed maul but ANYWAY! None of this is the point let’s just obi-wan eventually manages to convince this sassy lost child to go with him! How do the council react?

I mean. Not amazingly. They hardly wanted anakin to be trained as a jedi in general let alone already fallen and trained in the dark side

But that being said... there’s a difference between being trained and being trained in the dark side HEAR ME OUT!!!

I think that they could allow obi-wan to train him if only to help him deal with the dark side and hell maybe even return him to the light (has such a thing even happened in canon up to this point??) especially since their only other options would be imprisoning or killing him and well look at that face! You can’t say you’re gonna imprison him to that face!! (And also obi-wan emotionally equipped to do this? Probably not! He’s still gonna try though!)

Either that or maybe obi-wan leaves the jedi temple with anakin? Man idk my brain is too dead to figure out what’s would work with the characters or not. It’s my au and I get to choose possibly ooc decisions

Ok second question- where does he live? I mean even with maul I don’t think they stayed in one place very often- usually doing their vigilante shit around the outer rim. ALTHOUGH I had to google it darth maul had a ship (fake fan, ik) and it’s called the Sith Infiltrator and the idea maul going around in that along with his ten year old apprentice made of sunshine is so funny. Anakin definitely defaced the paint job with stickers and drawings and what have you. I’m getting sidetracked

Point is: anakin goes from being trapped on a desert planet do going in a cool spaceship and travelling the galaxy so I don’t think he’d be a fan of staying in one place. Even if he does end up with obi-wan training him... well let’s just say obi-wan has to hand out missing flyers. A lot.

Ok now MAUL. Maul. Okay so the thing is I’m don’t know what he’s doing this whole time. Problem is I don’t know maul as well as I know other characters so I’m ESPECIALLY worried about making decisions for him that don’t make sense but...

I think the parallels between Sidious taking maul as a child and anakins current situation and i think this is why he doesn’t go full Dark Sith Lord Training on anakin and why they have more fun- maybe he sees part of what he could have been in anakin? Little bit? And I think this is also the reason he kind of just ignored the glaringly obvious “there’s only supposed to be 2 sith” rule up till now

I mention this because there is YET ANOTHER crossroads here. 1) this one is probably the most Star Wars-y... like in canon maul, fueled by hate maul survives and gets to lotho. Because of this hate, whatever affection he might’ve had for anakin turns to jealousy and anger, because of his (relative) innocence, power and palpatines obvious plans to replace maul with anakin. I think maul perhaps goes to sidious to become his apprentice again (around tcw era) but I’m not sure. Maybe by this point dooku has been killed (by anakin?) or maul kills him to take his place? Or mauls singleminded hate for anakin outweighs his hate for palpatine and they form an alliance just to take him down.

The important thing his is that: maul has convinced himself he hates anakin meanwhile anakin is on the other side of the galaxy mourning... this could lead a pretty fun interaction huh.. wink wink nudge nudge

The other option which I honestly don’t know any details for is just that maul survives through the ✨power of friendship✨ and him and anakin reunite and maul and obi-wan and maul bicker and everyone is vibing and palpatine is dead <3

Ok that’s all for now this has become less of my talking about my au and more just rambling about different ideas but whatever here you go!

Why'd you come on vacation with me to this island if you don't want to spend time with me?"

Like I said I'm not 100% clear on the Dianna timeline, but I totally buy that Harry is not the Style muse! But if Taylor were like "yeah I get what this is, no feelings whatsoever, we both get an image course-correction and I pawn some songs that are actually about Dianna/someone else off on you", then the 1989 marketing would be N U T S. Like, if that whole thing had been agreed upon ahead of time, then she does not get to bitch about her crazy clingy maneater Blank Space image. She would have literally cherry picked that very image.

The headcanon that makes the most sense to me is something did somewhat go down between them and she felt slighted, though not immensely heartbroken or anything. She might have thought she was getting another Joe J arrangement, but instead she got an engaged but disinterested Harry Styles and she just came on way too strong. Like you said they really are very similar and should like each other, but instead, they seem to not! And they must have spent quite a bit of time together, too, during those months.

So I would guess 1D management or whoever was like "hey we're in contact with Taylor's people but why don't you go ahead and text her, let's get this thing going" and she was like "wow, Harry Styles is texting me, that's cool!" Because if she had had no emotions for him and had always planned it as a sort of "bad guy breaks Miss America's heart!" and chose to play into it, and then complain about it later. Idk she's just more likeable if she fell really hard and really stupidly and in hindsight a bit embarrassingly.

And then she was like "alas, the futility of love in showbiz, we're all just awaiting a publicist's call" and then she wrote Wildest Dreams.

So anyways how valid do you find this take? Do you have another take on her being like "yes, the person I wrote IKYWT was right by the stage" and it was pretty obvious that she like... hadn't?

Okay sure I like this headcanon! She and her team did invent a craaaazy amount of shit about him - IKYWT obvi and the 1,989 roses and tbh the “he tried so hard to win her back” when he was like out with a different gal every night on tour and running home to Nick in the UK so there is a good chance she concocted the whole thing entirely and tbh a lot of the 1989 marketing is nutty regardless but like I agree maybe she expected Harry to be more keen on her a la Joe J and instead he... wasn’t lmao.

The point for me is 1) I don’t believe they had a multi year affair where they couldn’t quit each other because that’s not canonically what happened except for music and she has said shit like “I’ve never named the 1989 muse” and stuff so that’s purposefully vague 2) I don’t think Harry was ever planning on interrupting her wedding nor do I think he implied he would 3) I don’t think Harry was broken up about it which yes could mean he’s a dick but given he had a meltdown over cheating on Camille and wrote a first album about something very longterm ending and also about fucking random bitches you’d expect more Taylor songs if they were legit involved 4) Harry was 18 which isn’t gross or weird but also makes it odd that Tay implied she thought this was her forever person 5) they quite clearly promoted the shit out of each other and marketed the relationship heavily so acting like the media ruined it is just silly because they were the ones calling the paps all the time and their team was running pressers every 5 minutes.

Did Taylor have feelings? Maybe! Did they fuck? I mean the only reason I only say maybe is coz of that weird NYE kiss, without that video’s existence I’d say most likely lol. Was her marketing and stuff fanfic? Absolutely 10000%. Was it based on reality as in your example? Could be!

Fat Guts Have No Gender

Sunlight filtered through the windows too soon, and they rolled over in bed to pretend it wasn’t morning. Their head pounded, though, and intense hunger pains were demanding they get up and get breakfast or else disintegrate right there on the mattress.

They partied to hard last night. They partied too hard too many nights. They weren’t even sure if the ibuprofen they took for the hangover headaches even worked anymore or if their body just assumed it should work, kind of like a placebo.

After popping a couple, they closed the medicine cabinet and leaned over the sink to wash their face. Their rounder face. The plumpness of their cheeks felt pronounced in their hands as they rubbed cleanser in, then washed it out. Just because they had little else but alcohol and lime Tostitos at parties didn’t mean they skimped out on food in everyday life. In fact, their bad party habits had not at all cancelled out the Nutella binges they were hooked on these days.

They dried off their face and gave themselves a good long look in their dirty mirror. They sighed at how their “oversized” shirt clung to their belly and their thighs both pressed together and bowed out to either side. The Nutella binges weren’t solely responsible for all the weight they’d packed on in the last few months. It was consistently bad grazing through all sorts of cheap, sugary snacks, too; it was too many fast food trips and ice cream outings with friends; it was soda and white bread. And yeah, Nutella.

Their binder wasn’t really doing what they wanted anymore. Their hips, now flared with a considerable amount of fat, were kind of a dead giveaway, weren’t they? They went back into their room and put on a basic black tee, men’s fit jeans, and their favorite stud earrings. Typically a safe combination, but when they returned to the bathroom, they immediately felt disheartened. They could already imagine waiters at restaurants not sparing a second glance, assuming.

A haphazard search on their phone didn’t come up with much in the way of “how to be more androgynous while chubby” or - a bit more desperately typed - “androgynous and fat?”

Naturally, they texted their most trustworthy ride or die.

You know how I’m getting kind of really curvy now? Yeah so its messing up my image here.

They didn’t have to wait long for an answer. They sighed again, heavier. It was about what they expected.

wtf just own it

They chewed their lip. Their hunger pains were making themselves known again, but maybe they shouldn’t eat. Maybe they should start a weight loss plan effective immediately.

But I don’t like it. I don’t think being a little overweight is bad, I just think being thinner is better in my case, you know? Makes more sense.

The answer took longer to come this time.

They rolled their eyes and went into the kitchen, setting their phone on the counter and opening the freezer. The family-size box of french toast sticks called their name.

They sucked in their gut a little. Maybe just a few? They pouted at the box. They wanted more than a few. They wanted more of everything all the time now, which was ballooning them a god damn roly poly, counteracting all their carefully constructed captial-e Edge.

But if androgyny meant freedom for them, didn’t slaving away for edges on their body make no sense?

One family-sized box of french toast sticks later, they were back in the bathroom with a spoon in one hand and a jar of Nutella in the other. Their eyes were narrowed in keen concentration. It was time to redesign their image. It was time to promote the Soft agenda.

Vigilantes 54 - LITERAL SCREMING

The title of the chapter gives us a big whopping clue of what's in store for the chapter!!! The last time we had a chapter about siblings (chapter 37 /Big Brother, a personal fave of mine for reasons repeated in this chapter)... We have another Tsukauchi-centered chapter!!!

Ahhhh my heart is racing for u Detectivr Tsukauchi!!!

So we begin the chapter with the Sky egg about to fall!!! The Kimblee dude has set explosions that is about to send the egg careening down to the ground, and with it the 50k helpless heroes and civilians inside!!! Tsukauchi is in abject panic of course because Makoto's in there,,, he hesitates calling on All Might for help because it's against protocol! Aizawa has to convince him to do so, because people are gonna die man!!!

Is there any way for Aizawa to figure out that Tsukauchi is already close to All Might by this time? It's specific how he knows? I doubt it's because he assumes all police officers can contact him anytime as needed, because contacting him means "throwing the manual out the window". So either naomight are very poor at subtlety, or Aizawa just has a keen sense for the gay

In any case, Tsukauchi eventually contacts All Might, who is funnily enough attending a business meeting in his own tower, still in disguise as All Might's secretary!!! It's so cute how he forgot to put his phone on silent mode and the marketing head tells him off, and he apologizes for it!!! What a humble guy, guh I love him

And then,,, we are treated to flashbacks!!! Look,,, at all these precious beans,,, baby!Nao and baby!Makoto!! Holy heck they are so cute!! Nao has the roundest cheeks ever!!! And Makoto is so sweet and clingy, she isn't anything like the sneaky 19 year old she is right now but gahhhh they love each other isn't that nice????

So the part that's strange here is that they have a discussion over Makoto's quirk ("she can read minds") but again we do not have any clue about how Nao's own quirk works? Not even a mention? Not even a "just like me" sort of line? Is this gonna be a mystery forever?

Shiiit Nao is crying here!!! As much as Nao trusts All Might to talk about his sister and other details of his personal life before on their lil dates, he trusts him to help at that moment when he believes that Makoto is about to die. And damn, he doesn't say "help us" or "help the 50000 people about to die," he says "save my sister". of all things that finn could be called, straightforward would never be one of them. ever since his first days in atticus, the boy was pegged as hostile, hot-headed, cynical, rude. he seemed to spend more time in his thoughts than engaging in conversation. like a ticking time-bomb, finn’s anger was of the calm kind, liable to explode without a moment’s noticed. his unpredictable personality make him something of an enigma to those who aren’t amiable with the lad, though hostile as he may appear, he harvests a good heart. loyalty lies at the centre of his affections, and whilst his friends are few in number, he makes a lifelong partner. somewhere within finn, there’s still some fight left, but mostly he has recognised that his hedonistic lifestyle did little to leave him fulfilled – mostly, it just emptied him out – and over his three years at university has resigned himself to a nihilistic predicament.

push me off a bridge (to catch me as i fall)

a separate post for my ramblings for this fic!! it’s actually the longest thing i’ve written in a while, so i have a lot to ramble about haha;;

prelude

oh man... this started when two of my friends decided to go through edgar’s route at the same time AND also decided to go reacting to every single part of the route through burst texting AT THE SAME TIME, effectively flooding my inbox.... they were fully aware that i was at a seminar and unable to reply... now my inbox is filled with so much edgar screaming i cannot... (゜▽゜;)

screaming aside they were also very willing to read whatever drafts of edgar/mc i had available and this was their favorite!! thanks to them, i decided to finish this omfg... i’m actually so proud that i got this done but tbh it was getting so long that i had half a mind to let go of it already halfway through scene three haha... (;*△*;)

this has uh... some fighting scenes and tbh the first draft had absolutely none of it... this is my first time actually writing long(?) scenes and while i found thinking about them to be fun, putting them into words was some struggle??? like... i've been told that it looks okay but idk it feels clunky to me. oh well ＼| ￣ヘ￣|／

general stuff + war phase, baby!

initially this was only meant to be 3 parts + primarily focused on edgar/mc + with an unnamed mc as usual! but then since it’s an au of kyle’s route, i found myself wanting to flesh out the relationship of edgar & mc when set in a different angle + circumstances rather than just automatically implying attraction...

plus their relationship canonically starts off on the wrong foot in that route & edgar’s fully aware that mc isn’t exactly comfortable around him, so it really doesn’t sit well if i just... put them together, lol. so thus we have five scenes of them getting(?) closer!(???)

in short its a hella slow burn and not gonna lie, when i was writing their scenes i was like f i n a l l y... bless... ಠ ּ͜೦

one of the reasons i like kyle’s route is bc i actually got some feel of an actual war??? idk i think there’s so much plot that u can fill in with it, so i decided going for alternating scenes of the battlefield + med tent. while there's glimpses of the action going on, there’s also the sort of complimenting(???) or offsetting more emotional perspective of what goes on with the medics.

tbh i stared long and hard at the cradle map when formulating some tactics and i gotta say i had a hard time calming myself down bc...

in kyle’s route, the red army has the advantage and have pushed the black army as far back as to their bridge, which means that more or less they’ve occupied central quarter... but what dawned on me was... where the hell did the red army position their encampment from there???

was an encampment even necessary given that they’re like, in a really convenient area????? they probably could’ve settled themselves in some houses but tbh okay maybe it isn’t so noble of the reds to do (imposing themselves n’ stuff) + they have larger numbers so accommodating all of them is a problem but still... where’d they set up camp??? u see, when kyle + mc step out of the med tent it shows the forest bg, so... where??? on the edges of the central quarter area are where u can see them trees??? on the civic center roof?!?!

well... a decent answer is that they could’ve set up several encampments around the area to ensure their hold on the central quarter... it still raises some questions but honestly it makes a lot more sense... but if not and they really decided to camp out like one big happy family all together, then don’t even get me started on the possibility that the camp was stationed somewhere around here:

because doing that doesn’t have a single lick of sense omfg especially tactics-wise haha... that’s like... why would you do that... you’re wasting all your advantages... o h b o y... so you bet when i remembered that mc + loki had to pass by a forest to get back to the encampment + encountered ray & some disciples i was like... u m m... why???? if technically the reds took hold of the whole central quarter area then it actually isn’t necessary to skulk around in the forest?????? yes yes i know safety precautions + avoiding detection but... dood... it’s safer to walk in claimed territory rather than the unstable one ahaha...

plus the thing about the black bridge... uh... it's just said in the route that lancelot handles it through magic and that's all. but when i thought back on it oh my god... what did he do??????? how is he still standing??? how much of his lifespan did he shave off just to salvage that situation??????????? how is the poor boi alive?????????? the whole fucking bridge literally falls apart and that's a whole lot of chaos and people and AHHHHH!?!?!¿¿¿¿ if ur gonna make the bridge collapse (good thing they didn't think of disintegrate) it probably cost the magic tower a hefty amount but get rekt lancelot still saves the fucking day, what a king - he's practically got one foot in the grave already... this dood, seriously ಥ_ಥ

there were other things i noticed in the process of writing this based on the route events but i was like fuck it, let’s think on that another day and leave it as it is (┛ಠДಠ)┛彡┻━┻ ily kyle but oh no my brain started reprocessing the other details of ur route

thinking about all that also made me think of other more stuff, like cradle economy + livelihood haha;; it’s stated in edgar’s route (well... it’s actually pretty obvious in other routes too) that the reds are richer than the blacks, so i went ahead and assumed that the former engages in something more lucrative like mining -> jewerly / raw material / mineral trade, while for the latter something more wholesome like agriculture. idk, it works. even moreso that the reds give off the whole nobility vibe while the blacks are simple and casual. even the bg screens of the red & black streets are polarizing.

then i also went over the rest of the chosen thirteen... while the reds show no obvious weapon variety (see: swords), i’d like to believe that they’re taught to be versatile enough no matter what the situation. plus, since they have the funding, i'd like to think they're skilled in magic manipulation, too. meanwhile the black army shows weapon variety, and i’d like to think that it’s because most of their recruits aren’t soldiers in the first place: they’re farmhands / hunters / village people turned soldiers, and it’s actually easier to let them go with what they know first before encouraging them or asking them to learn something new. thus axes and spears and possible unconventional stuff like caltrops.

crimson glory

one of the things i realized was in kyle’s route, mc isn’t exactly so buddy-buddy with the red crew in comparison to other routes. she gets minimal interactions with the four, and zero aside her relationships with the top three are rather... tense.

zero was the other red officer i was initially going to add aside from edgar & kyle, but i added all of them anyway. while they don't appear all together, all of them have scenes together with edgar.

the first edgar & jonah scene shows an obvious contrast - while he's being incredibly critical about it, jonah shows actual concern for the living situations in black army territory. on the other hand, edgar chooses to tease him about it, his joking more or less implying that he isn't that concerned / bothered about it at all. the game touches up on this sometimes, often with edgar commenting on how noble jonah is while jonah shows obvious distaste for edgar's callousness.

still, they work well together. personally i'm amused with a hc of mine that looking at how edgar fights / acts only spurs jonah to act more honorably while for edgar, being exposed to jonah's noble-ness more or less makes him curious to try being honorable from time to time lol. that still doesn't stop anyone from calling him the gentle demon tho ( ⚆ _ ⚆ )

tbh since edgar is obviously sneaky on other routes i wouldn't put it past him to casually pressure lancelot to tell him wtf's going on with this war when he gets the inkling that something's wrong. edgar goes about this subtly not-so-subtly and in the most polite manner possible. lancelot knows him far too well to take bait tho - he makes sure to speak carefully since he's probably knows that edgar's going to pick apart at his words for meanings + implications, so it more or less leaves edgar a bit frustrated since it's clear that lancelot won't tell him much. still, edgar knows when not to cross the line - even he's not so keen on getting on lancelot's bad side.

that aside, i'd like to think that edgar respects lancelot a lot as a person + commander enough that he'd truly risk his life for him on instinct like a true soldier would. while i think i could've done more on writing the gravity of the collapsing bridge scene, i liked the last bit where edgar + zero immediately worried for lancelot.

let's be honest here tho in some way or another all of the reds chosen worry about their king bc bruh... let us in bruh...

the scenes of zero & edgar in the end are also my favorite! it isn’t much, but enjoyed writing their relationship briefly. tbh i think edgar is one of those people under the sleep = most vulnerable = death thinking (no thanks to claudius), so the fact that he allows himself to drift to sleep twice in zero's company is a definite sign of trust. then again, he's injured but still ( ᐛ )و

edgar, idike, kyle

y’know even if this is an edgar/mc thing, i found fleshing out the kyle/mc relationship equally important which i presented in scene three. personally speaking, i’d like to think that if ever kyle didn’t fall in love with mc (on his own route???) he’d still be watching over her anyway since her struggle in the medical field + war reminds him a bit of his younger self after his brother's death.

which is why he doesn't intervene with that one soldier scene - he doesn't coddle her either when she goes into a brief shock. perhaps it's bc he knows so well what she's going through, he decides to let her handle it on her own. this was her experience, not his. and to be fair, she asked to go to the front lines determined but wholly unprepared emotionally. he tried warning her, she wouldn’t listen. now she faces the consequences - how would she go about it?

i decided to slap a name into mc this time to highlight the trust plot: idk if i got it clearly across in the fic, but in times of war + for someone who’s been trained to be suspicious / cautious of everyone like edgar; secrets are a surefire way to catch attention + breed distrust.

tbh he's hella aware that the secret around her name is most likely personal and nothing dangerous, but it's better safe than sorry - by making sure she understands that keeping secrets wouldn't be of any good to her + situation, he gets reassurance that she really is harmless. how bad + seriously she takes it honestly surprises him tho, but then again she's been going through other stuff too so it all piled up.

idike isn’t my in-game name, but it’s the given name i spoke of in this ask, haha! initially scene five has her saying her full name (with surname), but i thought it would be more fitting if i didn’t lol ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

i tried to incorporate a mix of the personalities of edgar’s!mc + kyle’s!mc onto idike, tho at first i was only shooting for the latter - i think it kinda works??? while somewhat composed and determined (kyle’s), she still shows some naivete in her (edgar’s), especially concerning the ways of war + how secrecy & trust work in times of war.

i found emphasizing on her emotional struggle important, since it should be a big blow for her who’s never known the terror of war. the game touches upon on it a bit (tho it's post-med tent scenes) and i wanted to expand on it further since there are so many possible angles to go about it.

the i can’t heal you if you’re dead line sounds like something like shiro emiya might say but lol no i just remembered this p3 manga panel (pg 24) - its been years since i read it and i still love that line and i integrated it here... i was trying to expand that one scene for a while but then i just left it as it is.

in the catharsis scene where idike airs out everything, the fact that edgar fails to empathize with her + focuses more on her emotional state rather than offering actual help (advice maybe, but i honestly doubt he’d do that) reflects that he's still looking at her as an interesting creature and not her as a person. part 5 hints that this may be slowly changing, seeing as he called for her all of a sudden.

... idike probably keeps edgar’s glove as a token of friendship or smth haha ooPSSS i forgot to bring that back ahahaha..... ヘ（。□°）ヘ
