the seven schools of ravenwood masterlist
Tumblr media
Life in Wizard City was never something that you had expected for you, having grown up on the far edges of the spiral in Grizzleheim. All you’d ever known were the harsh winters of a world full of bears, wolves, and ravens. No one quite knew where you’d come from only being found the burnt remains of Draugarth as an infant. Sten and Bo Silverwood of Clan Ironclaw were the ones who took you in and raised you, calling you their hairless cub.
Growing up, you knew you were different. You didn’t have fur like a bear or a wolf, nor feathers like a raven. You were something else, even beyond your physical appearance. Despite having no fur, your skin bore to the elements, you were never cold. Chilly, yes. But in the cold winds that enveloped Grizzleheim, you never once shivered. But your Papa and Bubba never made you once feel as if you were an outcast, they loved you as their own and that’s all that would matter.
As you reached your fifteenth year, more peculiarities began happening around you. Your body would grow warm, becoming unbearable to the point you’d wear the thinnest of your clothes in the midst of snow storms. When it was your turn to make dinner for your fathers, you’d burn the meat to charcoal, eventually banning you from the kitchen. However, the worst was yet to come.
You were huddled near a hearth in Northguard, knees pulled up to your chest as you stared into the fire. You watched the flames flicker and change, almost as if they were forming into small figures; you’d see bears and wolves talk amongst themselves, laughing heartily, ravens fly across the sky, and creatures of myth you’d heard as a young one. Creatures like dragons, imps, and centaurs. You’d thought you were only seeing these things in your mind's eye as you watched the fire, but as you focused more on the dragon, you watched as it grew larger. You rubbed your eyes, thinking it was a trick of the light, but it wasn’t. The fiery depiction of the creature grew and grew, spitting out flames from its mouth, catching onto the roof of a nearby hut. You screamed for help, but with each panicked cry, the fire grew larger and larger. Quickly, the clan rallied to put out the fire, but with each bucket of water thrown over it, it did not settle. Only when your papa had wrapped you into his arms, calming you down did the fire finally die.
“This cub is a demon! We must free ourselves from it!” Kol Shadowsong accused, singling you out. The clan leaders gathered in the Great Hall to discuss what should be done with you, as you nearly burnt Northguard to the ground. Your fathers stood beside you, refusing to back down to let you stand alone.
“Your Majesty, see reason! It’s clear they have no control over this affliction! They meant no harm! They’re practically still a cub!” Your papa shouted at King Valgard.
“And that cub nearly burnt this stronghold to the ground!” The king growled. “If they cannot control it, they are a danger to the rest of us. I cannot allow them to endanger the rest of the clans.”
“But what if they could learn to?” Your bubba countered.
“How?”
“I know.” All attention was turned toward a new voice, Bauldur Goldpaws, the trader. “I’ve heard of this affliction in my travels. It’s called pyromancy! The ability to control fire and summon creatures of that nature. It can be controlled, but only through hard work and training. There is a school that teaches how to control and master this very affliction. Ravenwood in Wizard City.”
You’d only vaguely remembered hearing those names. It sounded familiar, yet you did not know or understand why, like something from a dream.
“That’s halfway across the Spiral and the World Tree connection was severed centuries ago! How do you intend to even get there?” Your papa questioned.
“The skyways, as our ancestors once did.” Bauldur turned to face your fathers personally. “King Valgard has already tasked me with the honor of re-establishing our trade routes. Wizard City is one of those stops. With your permission, I will ensure that your cub will get there safely. They will be enrolled and they will learn to control it.”
“Do they look like me?” You found yourself asking. All attention was returned back to you, and you felt small under everyone’s gaze. “These pyromancers. . . are they like me?”
Getting down on one knee, Bauldur met your gaze. “Yes, child. There are many that look like you. You will be safe and taught to control this,” he gestured to your hands.
Looking between your fathers, you met their eyes. Papa clearly not wanting to let you go, to keep you safe by his side and protect you from the world forever. But Bubba, he knew. He knew this was what was best for you, best for the clan. Looking back to Bauldur, you nodded. “I’ll go.”
The trader looked back to the King, who sighed. “Fine,” he waved his hand. “Your cub may go and learn to control this. . . pyromancy. But they may only return, once they’ve mastered the ability. Then and only then may they return to Grizzleheim. Dismissed.”
Your fathers walked out of the Great Hall, bickering between themselves as you looked up at Bauldur. “We leave at first light, pack heavy. We’ll be traveling for a few moons.”
It was hard to say goodbye, having never left home before and to be gone for so long. . . You were scared. You didn’t want to leave, but you knew you had to. It was for the good of the clans. You packed all your belongings into several chests; your robes, your boots, helmets, hats, and swords. Anything you might’ve needed, you were packed and ready for.
“Be good,” Papa said as he squeezed you tight against him. You buried your face into his fur, trying to memorize every last detail of him.
“I will.”
Bubba hugged you just as hard, if not harder. He knew this was coming, that one day you’d leave, just never imagined it so soon. Pulling away from you, he placed his paw on your face and smiled at you. “My little cub, be proud of who you are and where you’re from.”
As Bauldur said, it took many months to reach Wizard City. Had you gone in a direct route, you might’ve gotten there faster, but unfortunately you were just a ride along. Bauldur had a job to do, re-establishing the long lost trade routes amongst the other worlds of the Spiral. You’d see places you’d never even imagine seeing; the evergreen world of Mooshu, the ancient sand covered temples of Krokotopia, and the endless fields of Zafaria. Until finally, Bauldur and landed at the edge of the world in Wizard City!
Dozens of wizards gathered as the ship weighed its anchor against one of the stone towers. You’d been used to whispers and stares all your life, but this was different, you felt isolated and singled out, as if you were being peered at under an eye-glass. You hid behind Bauldur once he was beside you on the grass.
“Who goes there?” A man with hair on his face and dressed in strange armor questioned.
“I am Bauldur Goldpaws, and this is my ward, Y/N Silverwood. We seek your Headmaster.”
The guard looked between you and Bauldur, “Follow me.” Was all he said before he stiffly started walking towards a tunnel, burrowed deep into the cliffside.
The Headmaster, Merle Ambrose, was stunned to learn that you were there to enroll. No one had ever traveled so far in order to attend. It was a first. But nevertheless, you were enrolled in the School of Fire. Professor Dalia Falmea took you under her wing, giving you private lessons until you’d caught up to your age group. You were a bit of an oddity at first, being the only one dressed in furs rather than the colored robes your peers wore. You’d even shocked everyone when you’d been able to pick up thaumaturgy as a secondary school. But eventually the intrigue and mystery died away as time went on.
You’d been at Ravenwood seven years now, almost finishing your mastery classes. You’d held onto this moment for years. Finally, you’d be able to go home! To see your fathers once again! You’d kept up correspondence with them, sending letters through the trade route you’d helped Bauldur set up. So they knew you were in good health and they were also happy for you. At least up until the past year, the former death professor unleashed monsters onto the city streets endangering the students and their livelihood. Papa almost wanted you back then and there, but there were also growing tensions amongst the clans (at least so you’d heard through Bauldur, your fathers did every attempt to keep it from you) so you stayed in Wizard City. However, none of you could’ve predicted what else was to come.
It was like any ordinary day, you’d just finished your class with Professor Falmea when she called you up to speak with her before you could leave. Shouldering your pack, you walked up to her on the platform.
“Yes, Professor?”
“Ah, Winterflame. You’ve advanced much in these past few years, becoming one of my star pupils.”
Your face grew warm at her compliments. “Thank you, Professor.”
“And as my best student, there’s something I need to ask of you.” She motioned toward the door, glancing behind you, you watched as a bright red haired guy about your age walked in, dressed in red and orange robes. “This is my newest student, Jungkook Dragonpants.”
You furrowed your brows at the name, “Dragonpants?” Did you hear that right?
“Yup, that’s me,” the wizard winked at you.
You’ve never met a student with a lastname like that, the weirdest one you think you’ve heard was Frogtamer. You were going to have to ask him about it later. You turned to Dalia to finish talking.
“Winterflame, I’d like you to help get him adjusted to life in Wizard City. In fact, Headmaster Ambrose suggested it, considering you know how it feels,” she explained. While you knew neither of them meant no ill will, it still felt slightly targeted. There’d been dozens of new students and transfers to Wizard City since you. But maybe he was from far out in the Spiral too, and there was the fact he was also a pyromancer.
“Okay,” you nodded before turning to Jungkook. He was near bouncing on his heels and his eyes. . .His eyes kept wandering around the room, between the professor, the walls, the chalkboard, the cauldron, everything. Okay, you could relate to that, seeing it all for the first time. Trying your best to hide your smile, you nodded to the door. “Come on, let’s go.” The two of you walked out of the school house, and still Jungkook was looking at everything. Bernie, Torrence, Bartleby, Arthur Wethersfield. You remembered being like that, taking everything in all at once. “So on either side of the tunnel are the dorms, yes it’s one door. But your key is what opens the door to your own room, specifically. You get your key from Lincoln,” you said, gesturing to him as he wrote in his booklet. “I can give you a more in depth tour later, so you’re getting the dry run. If that’s alright with you.”
“Yeah that’s fine,” he said, smiling as he looked up at the World Tree.
“So, where’re you from?”
“Oh, I’m from Eeeeerrrr. . .”
“Eeeerrr?” You raised a brow.
“It’s some place far away with a name you wouldn’t know or how to pronounce,” he waved his hand, trying to hand the subject. “What about you? You from around here or elsewhere?”
A bittersweet smile crossed your face. “Grizzleheim, a world tucked away in the farside of the Spiral.”
“Woah, that sounds. . . cool. What’s it like?”
Again, you were confused. How did he not know what Grizzleheim was? Since your arrival and the trade route was re-established, almost everyone knew what Grizzleheim was and how far it was. “It’s cold, a lot closer than here. It rains or snows most of the year, don’t get a lot of sun. But it’s beautiful and it’s. . . it’s my home.” You found yourself stopping on the sidewalk, reminiscing.
“Do you visit often?”
You shook your head. “No, I haven’t been since. . . since I enrolled. It’s-it’s a long story.” You weren’t about to get all nostalgic with a stranger. “But anyways, are you a transfer? Novice, what?”
“I’m new.”
“. . . Are you in class with people our age or younger?”
“Oh, I’m not in class. Ambrose said I can do independent studies to help catch up. Like helping out around the city and anyone who needs it. Speaking of which, where’s Unicorn Way? I was told to go there as soon as I could.” He asked, his head glancing about, this time with intention rather than curiosity.
“Unicorn Way is crawling with monsters, are you sure you were asked to go there?”
Jungkook held up a letter, addressed to Private Connelly in the Headmaster’s handwriting. It was off, but if it was Ambrose. . .
“Through the Commons tunnel, turn left, go down the street, over the bridge, Unicorn Way is right there.”
“Great, thanks,” he smiled as he patted you on the shoulder. “Talk more later?” He asked as he started toward the tunnel.
“Yeah, just uh, meet me in front of the Library, noon!” You called out after him.
“Awesome, see you then!” Then he vanished into the shadows. He was odd, but you were intrigued nonetheless.
A few days later was your rest day, and you typically liked spending it in Olde Town,  sitting on the grass at the edge of the cliff, where Bauldur dropped you off. He wasn’t there, it wouldn’t be for another few weeks before he made his rounds back to Wizard City. When he was there, you’d catch up, then trade the dozens of letters your fathers would write to you and give to Bauldur yours. But days like this, you’d just sit and stare out into the skyways.
“Hey!” A voice pulled you out of your thoughts. Turning your head to the side, there stood the new kid, Jungkook. His face was littered with fresh cuts and bruises, but he still held that same cheery demeanor he had when you first met him. “Whatcha doing out here?”
“It’s my off-day, what happened to you?” You rose to your feet, immediately going to check his injuries.
“Oh, these? Just finished clearing up Unicorn way,” he said with a proud smile.
His words took you aback, “You- you did what?”
“Well it’s not cleared up permanently. There’s still some ghosts, but the skeletons and dark fairies are all taken care of for the most part.” He shrugged as if it was no big deal. “But Prof Falmea said I’m almost to the level of her apprentice level class with how fast I’m progressing.”
“In just a few days?” You were baffled, no one has ever advanced that fast before! At least not without prior schooling.
“I’m a fast learner,” was all he said. “But really, why are you here on your off-day? Are there not a lot of exciting things to do around here?”
“No there are. There’s the Shopping District, Fairgrounds, dueling. . . But I like coming here, it’s where I first stepped foot in Wizard City.” You smiled softly at the memory, you felt so small then. Now no one even bats an eye at you, just another student walking the grounds. “But anyways, how are you finding it?”
“Well, I’ve done a lot of back and forth lately between places, but everyone is nice, given the circumstances. Sorry I had to rush off the other day, but the Headmaster said it was urgent. But I’m seeing a lot of the city, and this place is pretty cool.” He turned to look up at the cliffs of the city, and you followed his gaze. Just barely, you could see the overhead branches of Bartleby. Both of you stood there for a moment, enjoying the view.
“Hey, I’m sorry if this is a weird question but how did you get Dragonpants?” You asked. It’s not exactly a common question to ask, but you were curious. You always were anytime someone gave their name.
“What do you mean?” He furrowed his brows.
“I mean how did you earn Dragonpants as a last name? I got Winterflame because I’m one of the few pyromancers that has thaumaturgy as a secondary. I know a guy broke his wand and earned his last name, another summoned Humongofrog. So how did you get yours?”
All Jungkook could do was stare at you blankly. “Uhhh, I- uh. . . that’s an interesting story. Oh, look at the sun! I need to rush to Firecat Alley. I’ll definitely tell you that story later. Bye!” He then ran down the street, but instead of Firecat Alley, it was towards Triton Avenue.
And that’s not most of your interactions with Jungkook were. You’d see him randomly on the streets in between classes (in between quests for him), he’d always have a new cut or bruise somewhere on his skin. But he was advancing quickly. Every time you saw him, he was further and further along in his independent studies. Last you checked, he was nearing the adept level courses. Despite his quick advances, battles were getting harder and more difficult. So he started asking you for help, which you did. You helped him in Firecat Alley, Triton Avenue, and Cyclops Lane. Dueling beside him was incredible, he was focused and valiant. He didn’t let the enemies get to him, no matter how cruel their taunts grew.
“Doesn’t it ever bother you?” You found yourself asking, as the two of you tiredly made your back back towards the Commons.
“What do you mean?”
“What these- these villains are saying to you? Surely, it has to get under your skin sometimes?”
Jungkook paused, dark eyes almost hidden by his reddish-pink hair. “Sometimes. In the beginning, it did a lot. But the more I fight them off, it’s just becoming more and more. . . annoying than hurtful.”
“Annoying?” You asked, almost chuckling.
“I mean, yeah it’s annoying!” Jungkook’s face broke into an exasperated expression. “‘You won’t get away with this, Young Wizard!’, ‘Malistaire is coming!’,’No puny wizard has ever defeated me!’ Puh-lease! As soon as they start saying stuff like that, the more it motivates me to win out of spite.”
That had both of you peeling over in laughter, earning a handful of odd looks from your fellow students and passing citizens.
The two of you grew closer and closer, but no matter what, he didn’t say much about his past. Nothing on where he was from, or how he got his last name or why he wasn’t properly enrolled in school. Nothing. It didn’t bug you much, you could understand not wanting to answer pestering questions about where you were from, so you didn’t ask. But with each quest the two of you completed, you only had more and more questions. You just felt out of the loop.
However, once his quests started taking him outside of Wizard City, he had to continue going out alone. You didn’t have permission to leave the city, only Jungkook and a few select transfer students were granted that permission. You did your best to keep in touch still, he’d stop by your dorm and ask odd questions about Kroks and other things related to sorcery. You directed him to the library. There wasn’t much else you could do to help, as you had your own studies to focus on.
The last time Jungkook came over though, it was the worst of them. It was already late at night, but you were still up, cram studying for your final mastery exam in two days. After re-reading the same sentence over and over about the differences between sunbirds and phoenixes, there was a harsh knock at the door.
With a yawn, you walked over to the door, opening it to see Jungkook, battered and bruised. His left eye was dark and near swollen shut, his lip was busted, and he was leaning on the door frame for support. “H-hi.”
“Oh my stars!” Your body immediately woke up, helping him into your dorm. You set him down at your desk as you rushed to your trunk, digging through it for a healing potion. Instead you found an old salve from home. It would have to do for now, you hadn’t had a chance to stock up on potions. Jar in hand, you made your way over to Jungkook. Opening the jar, you dipped your fingers in and took out a small glob. “This’ll feel a bit chilly.” Jungkook winced as the balm touched his skin, but he remained still as you continued to apply it to his wounds.
“Smells kinda funny.”
You chuckled at that. “Yeah, it does.”
“What is it?”
“It’s a yarrow-marshmallow salve. Honestly, I forgot I had it. My bubba probably packed it away for me.”
“Your bubba?”
You paused. You didn’t talk much about your homelife to anyone, no matter how much they asked. This was the first time you ever willingly brought it up. With a shaky breath, you continued. “Yea, he’s one of the men who raised me. They’re the only family I’ve ever known.”
“You weren’t raised by your parents?”
You shook your head. “I was found in the remains of an old village, it was attacked by these creatures called grendels. I was the only survivor. I was found, tucked away in a burnt down shack. Sten and Bo Silverwood, my papa and bubba. They found me, took me in, and raised me as their own. Don’t know who my birth parents were, all we could figure is they were pyromancers and traveling across the spiral, probably traders. But we’ll never know,” you shrugged. “And I’m okay with that, I love my dads. And I wouldn’t change anything about how I was raised.”
“You said you can’t go home.”
“Yes and no.” You huffed. “It’s not easy to get to Grizzleheim, it’s months of traveling the skyways. But even if the world door worked, I can’t go back. I was. . . I was a danger to the clan. I had no control over my magic and the king had no choice but to order me to attend Ravenwood until I learned to master it.” As soon as you started, you couldn’t stop. All these years, and you never shared your story with anyone, not outside Professor Falmea. “But my pyromancy mastery final is in a couple days. And next week, Bauldur Goldpaws will return to Wizard City and I’ll be able to go home again.”
Jungkook was quiet for a moment, his eyes downcast. “I’m also from far away but. . . I don’t think I’ll be able to return home.” You’re silent, waiting for him to continue. “I’m from Earth. Where I’m from there’s no magic or talking animals, or anything. It’s just people. Then one day, I almost set fire to my house with my bare hands. I don’t know what to do so I start running. And I ran, and ran and ran until my legs felt like jelly. It gets blurry from there but next thing I know, I’m in the Headmaster’s office.”
“You don’t know how you got here?”
Jungkook gnawed on his lower lip. “I can’t really talk about it. Ambrose said so.”
Orders from the Headmaster, so you let it drop. Maybe in time he’ll tell you in time, but until then, you’ll take what little answers you can. “Can you tell me about your last name?”
That had Jungkook break out into a grin. “He didn’t tell me there were reasons behind last names, just wanted me to have one to blend in. I just chose a random one, thought it was funny.” Now it was your turn to laugh. You smacked your hand over your mouth, trying to muffle your laughter. “Yeah, yeah. Laugh it up. I’m dumb I know.”
“I’m sorry, it’s just, you’re-you’re going to endure weird looks for the rest of your life, you know that right?”
“I signed myself up for it, I just need to make up a convincing story for it.”
Once your laughter died down, you just smiled at Jungkook. With the salve applied, it was slowly bringing down the swelling and discoloration. Running a hand through his red hair, you sent him off. “It’s late. Get some rest.” He did as you were told, walking off toward his own dormitory.
The next morning, you stopped by to check on him, wanting to see how he was faring the day after but he was gone again. That poor boy is gonna get dragged all over the Spiral if he doesn’t learn to say no to a favor. But Jungkook was the farthest thing on your mind as your exam date was coming up. Your nose was stuck in a book or a scroll, you didn’t have time to think of anything else except acing this test and finally going home. That was your sole motivation.
The day of your final, Jungkook was outside your door.
“Hey-”
You cut him off before he could even begin. “Sorry, I really don’t have time.”
“But-”
“Listen, Jungkook, I really don’t have time. I really gotta go, I’m sorry.” You gave him a sad smile as you made a beeline for the School of Fire.
After three long agonizing hours of going through the different types of blade and shield combos, and the various types of spell casts from firecat to meteor strike to inferno salamander and their historical origins. You finally made it out. You answered every question to the best of your ability, and now all you had to do was wait for the results to be posted.
As you left the school house, Jungkook was waiting outside, sitting on the steps of Professor Falmea’s office tower.
“Jungkook, what are you doing here?”
“The door is open.”
His words puzzled you. “I’m sorry, what?”
“The door! You said the door to your home world was severed years ago yeah? Well it's open again.”
“What.”
“Ambrose just told me that the door to Grizzlehiem just opened, no one knows how or why, but it is. That’s what I tried telling you this morning!” He said, smiling. “You can go home.”
Dropping your items, you bolted. In the back of your mind, you knew that King Valgard wouldn’t be happy you weren’t a titled master yet, but damn him. Damn the technicalities, you knew you were a master. You just wanted to go home again. You pushed past all the other students as they entered the World Tree, not listening to their complaints as you rushed towards the door (you could vaguely hear Jungkook apologizing on your behalf as he ran after you).
Hand on the nozzle, you thought of Grizzleheim. Home. The smell of the pines, the crisp snowy air, the laughter of the bears in the Great Hall. You could see it all perfectly in your mind's eye as you opened that door. And there you were, on the other side of the rainbow bridge, at the world tree door.
“Oh, wow,” you heard Jungkook breathe out from behind you.
You took one step out the door; your boots crunched on the dirt beneath your feet as you stood there, taking it all in. “Papa! Bubba! I’m home!” You burst into another run, down the rainbow bride and towards the village, shouting at the top of your lungs. “Papa! Bubba! It’s me! I’m home!” Back on solid ground, you made your way towards your childhood home. Not one thing about this place changed, it was as if you’d stepped back into a memory.
“Little cub?” Your papa’s head poked out from the hut. He looked older, white hairs gathering around his snout and ears. But it was still every bit your papa.
“Papa!” You squealed, adrenaline pumping through your veins so hard, you couldn’t feel your lungs as they burned or how your legs ached with each step you stook. Your papa saw you in the nick of time, opening his arms wide enough for you to jump into his hold. Tears brimmed in your eyes as you dug your face into his chest.
“How- how can this be. . ?”
“Bubba!” You turned to see your other father, standing speechless in the kitchen. You jumped into his arms next. He returned your hug instantly, with your papa returning to hug you from behind once again. Tears were now freely rolling down your cheeks as you held your dads tight as you possibly could.
“I don’t understand, how- what?”
“The world tree door has been re-opened. I- I don’t know how but, I- I needed to come home. It’s been so long.” You cried, your hands gripping tightly onto Bubba’s fur. “I can control my powers. I did it. I learned. I can come home now, yeah.”
“Oh cub, of course.” Papa answered. “You did as you were told by the king. You can come home.” The three of you said nothing further after that, crying and holding each other. Relieved to finally see each other again after seven whole years.
From behind your group hug, you could hear someone clear their throat. “Oh,” you pulled away from your dads, seeing Jungkook standing awkwardly in the door frame. “Bubba, Papa, this is Jungkook Dragonpants. He’s my friend.”
“Dragonpants? What kind of a name is that?” Your Bubba asked, voice low.
“Bubba,” you groaned.
“It’s my name, sir,” he said, not backing down from your father’s clear intimidation attempt. He certainly was brave, very few could stare him in the eyes and not back down.
“Any friend of our cub’s is a friend of ours,” your papa said, narrowing his eyes at his husband. “Come in, tell us all your stories. Everything you left out in your letters.” With a smile, you nodded, turning back to Jungkook who was looking more outside. Wrapping a hand around his arm, you pulled him inside.
“Wait, hang on, is that Nick Jonas?”

Seneschal || jjk (Part 1)
Tumblr media
➥Pairing: vampire!jungkook/reader, former prince!jungkook/reader
➥Summary: Having been burned by the rest of the world, Jungkook was content to watch it go up in flames. Or, at least, he was until you gave him hope for something new. As plans are set in motion to unite your rival kingdoms, unforeseen circumstances arise. In the midst of the chaos, Jungkook is sure of one thing: he’d be damned if he let you get burned, too.
➥Genre: strangers to lovers, angst, slow burn, (eventual) fluff, (eventual) smut, royalty au, supernatural au
➥Rating: 18+
➥Words: ~6k
➥Content Warnings: a bit of angst, no smut in the first part but there is a little bit of nudity mentioned, blood and violence are mentioned, vampire lore(?), swearing, this is more of an intro chapter than anything else so there isn’t a whole lot that happens
A/N: so uh…it’s been a while, yeah? I haven’t updated any of my BTS fics on this blog in over a year due to a lot of life things (you can read here if you’re curious as to why), but I finally had a little time to sit down and dedicate to this idea I teased back in November 2021. As mentioned in the content warnings, this is more of an intro chapter so there isn’t a whole lot going on…definitely will be more happening later.
Anyways all that to say thank you to everyone who has supported/is still supporting me and my writing even during my hiatus. It means the absolute world to me 💜
(Also special shout-out to @dntaewithluv for listening to me ramble off idea about this for a literal year, I love you so much and appreciate you immensely ❤️)

seneschal [sen-uh-shuhl] (noun) an officer having full charge of domestic arrangements, ceremonies, the administration of justice, etc., in the household of a medieval prince or dignitary; steward.
Otherwise known as Jungkook’s consolation prize when he was coerced to step down from the throne.
It had been 2 years since the…incident occurred, but Jungkook could still remember it as if it had just happened.
Which is exactly what he was reflecting on as a vial was being thrust into his vision.
He blinked rapidly a few times before staring up at the person holding the vial out for him, their face a mixture of excitement and mild impatience.
“Well? We don’t have all day. Drink up, Jeon.”
Jungkook glared.
“My apologies, please drink the potion, Mr. Jeon.”
“Jimin, you know how I feel about you and formalities-”
“It just so happens that my manners come out more as my patience grows thin.” Jimin teased. “So,” he tried once more, “drink it.”
Jungkook sighed and shook his head, knowing it was better to leave well enough alone.
“Are you sure this is safe,” Jungkook asked as he stared hesitantly at the vial filled with blue liquid just inches away from his face.
Jimin rolled his eyes before grabbing Jungkook’s hand and closing it around the vial. “Yes, for the billionth time I wouldn’t give you something I thought might harm you.” He took a step back and crossed him arms, waiting patiently for Jungkook to do something.
With a sigh Jungkook carefully brought the vial to his lips, swallowing the liquid without putting too much thought into it. The taste was bitter, but not wholly unpleasant, and a few more moments passed before either of them spoke.
“And the verdict is?” The genuine curiosity in Jimin’s voice was something Jungkook had always found to be endearing.
Jungkook chuckled. Jimin may have still been a wizard in training, but he always had Jungkook’s best interest at heart.
“How am I supposed to know if anything happened? You tell me.”
Jimin blinked before the realization set in. “Oh, right.” He stepped forward once more, peering into Jungkook’s eyes as best he could in the dim lighting of the room.
Jungkook already knew the results before Jimin could confirm them. The way his face dropped said it all.
“They’re still red. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong, I’m following all the rules-”
“Jimin.”
“Maybe the spellbook is outdated, you know? This is the only one I’ve ever seen anyone else use, it must be centuries old at this point-”
“Jimin,” Jungkook stated more firmly this time, clapping his hand on the other’s shoulder to keep him from pacing around more. “It’s fine.”
Jimin groaned. “But it’s not fine, what kind of a supposed ‘wizard’ am I if I can’t even do a simple eye color changing spell.”
“You’re one that’s trying and that’s what matters.”
“Yeah, but,” Jimin broke off, pout prominent on his face. “you shouldn’t have to wear contacts all the time.”
Jungkook offered a gentle smile to his downtrodden friend. “There’s lots of things I shouldn’t have to do, but I do them anyway. It’s only a slight inconvenience, not a big deal.”
Jimin didn’t seem convinced. “I don’t know why you need to wear them in the first place, does it really matter if people see-”
“Yes,” Jungkook cut him off with a tone of finality. “We’ve been over this. It’s best for everyone if they don’t figure it out.”
“So you’re honestly fine with everyone thinking you did something horrible enough to make you step down from the throne? You’re ok with letting people drag your name through the mud constantly?”
Jungkook shrugged. “It’s just better this way.”
Jungkook could swear he heard Jimin growl. “It’s not right and you know it. You’re just too set in your ways about not wanting to bring dishonor on your family. Which, by the way, not sure if you noticed but they aren’t the most honorable people.”
“Don’t.” Another statement with a stern tone. This time, Jimin obeyed.
Jungkook ran a hand through his hair, letting the dark curls fall at their own leisure. “I need to get going or I’ll be late.”
If he left now he had just enough time to stop by his room and grab his contacts he’d left behind on his way to see Jimin, as per Jimin’s request.
“I’ve got it all figured out, so you won’t even need them this time!” Jimin had promised.
Jungkook had hope that one of these days Jimin would be victorious in all of his spellcasting endeavors, and he’d be there to support him the whole way through.
Right now, however, he had bigger matters to attend to.
On his way back to his chambers he saw Seokjin, who he figured was en route to go check on Jimin, seeing as he was the appointed court wizard and Jimin was his apprentice.
Jungkook nodded at him as they passed by each other, but Seokjin calling out for him had him turning around.
“Yes?”
It was then that Jungkook could see just how tired Seokjin looked. “Lord Jeon requests your presence before your meeting with the king.”
Jungkook raised an eyebrow. “Did he now? He bother to tell you what it was about?”
Seokjin shook his head, brows somewhat furrowed. Jungkook sensed that he seemed tense overall, and Jungkook didn’t like it.
“He didn’t. He just said it was important and had to be done as soon as possible.”
With a deep sigh, Jungkook relented, mumbling a thank you to Seokjin as he changed the direction he was walking. His brother’s chambers were located in a completely different wing of the castle, but he still had enough time to stop by his own room afterwards if he played his cards right.
He could hear the noises before he even approached the door, faint enough to go unnoticed by other passerby, but due to his heightened senses he had the unfortunate luck of not being able to remain oblivious. Jungkook knocked on the door despite the urge to just barge in; protocol was a big thing here and it was best for him to keep that in mind.
When he got no answer, he knocked once more before he squared his shoulders and turned the knob to open the door.
Without waiting for a greeting, he walked in, fully prepared for what he might find, seeing as it’d happened before.
Sure enough, the sight he was met with was exactly what he expected.
“Ah, so you finally came,” a snarky voice called out to him, slightly muffled. Jungkook rolled his eyes as he waited for the other party to get situated.
“What do you want, Yoongi?”
The blonde man in the bed not far from Jungkook smiled as the sheets fell around his waist. The woman next to him had even less shame, not bothering to cover her naked torso.
It wasn’t like Jungkook had never seen it before, anyway-
“Now is that anyway to address your superior?”
Jungkook gritted his teeth. “It is when my ‘superior’ is my younger brother.”
Yoongi tutted disapprovingly. “If you recall, you’re still only 24 years old-”
“Yoongi.”
“Which makes me the older brother now since I just turned 25.” he flashed a grin and the woman beside him snuggled up to his arm, still not completely covering her breasts. Jungkook looked away.
“So,” Yoongi continued, “you care to try that again?”
“I don’t, thanks. What do you want?”
Yoongi huffed, clearly unamused. “What I want is for you to tell our father what my requests are for the event we’re holding.”
This intrigued Jungkook enough to turn his sights back to his brother. “You’re not attending?”
“Unfortunately, no,” Yoongi feigned remorse. “I have more important matters to attend to.”
Jungkook watched in disgust as Yoongi grabbed a hold of the woman’s chin to turn her face so that he could kiss her. He closed his eyes and let out a deep breath.
“So you’re not coming then?”
“Oh he’s not, but he will be,” the woman ran her hand up Yoongi’s arm. Long, teal hair covered her shoulders, reminding Jungkook of when it was first dyed. He’d been there with her after all, so of course he’d remember it.
She giggled at her own joke while Yoongi laughed boisterously, 2 sounds Jungkook wished he’d never have to hear again.
He’d never been that lucky.
“I don’t have time for this,” was his only remark before he turned on his heel to exit the room.
Jungkook ignored Yoongi’s calls for him to come back, instead taking longer than necessary strides to put as much room between him and his brother as possible.
A low growl died in his throat as he pulled on the edge of his chain dangling from his neck. It looked like an ordinary chain necklace to the untrained eye, but it was long enough to where the end of it could fit in Jungkook’s pocket. From his neck, the rest of the chain disappeared beneath his shirt, covering the length of his chest.
It was a safety measure more than anything, something Seokjin and Jimin had helped him come up with following the ‘incident.’
⊱─────✧༺✧༻✧─────⊰
“Silver has been known to cause excruciating pain to vampires,” Seokjin had explained, “but this is a special chain, charmed with a spell that dulls that effect.”
“It doesn’t get rid of it completely?” Jimin’s confusion was evident alongside his concern for his friend.
Seokjin shook his head. “It won’t, only because that was Jungkook’s request.”
Jimin’s worried stare shifted to Jungkook, who was sitting on one of the tables in Seokjin’s chambers. His shirt was shredded, and his chest was stained scarlet: souvenirs of his most recent outing.
He went out to feed, traveling several towns over, and ended up failing miserably. Jungkook maybe got a few seconds of satisfaction before he was being ripped away from his willing victim and promptly beaten by 3 other men.
He absolutely could’ve taken them, but he was already ashamed of what he was doing in the first place. He figured that this was punishment that he had coming in one way or another.
That night when he stumbled into Seokjin’s room, bloodied and defeated, they put together a plan straight away.
Jimin asked to sit in and observe, since he was still unfamiliar with certain spells, but he missed that part of the conversation when he was fetching supplies.
“I don’t understand, why do you want the chain to still be able to cause pain?”
Jungkook sighed, wrapping part of it around his fist and noticing instantly the slight burn the metal singed his skin with. “Because the pain will hopefully be enough to stop me.”
“Stop you from doing what?”
Jungkook slowly raised his eyes to look at Jimin, a small, sorrowful smile stretched across his face.
“Something I regret.”
⊱─────✧༺✧༻✧─────⊰
The familiar sting of the chain branded the inside of his palm with invisible marks, and he kept it curled inside his hand until he was in front of his own chamber doors. He was really pushing time now, close to being late for his advisory meeting, but he’d risk a slight delay in the start of the meeting versus having to explain why his eyes were crimson colored.
Once he had his contacts fixed, he all but jogged to the large meeting room down the hall. A few guards and his father were already there, waiting on him as it seemed he was the last to show up.
“You’re late,” the king greeted, a hint of disappointment in his tone.
Jungkook was used to that by now.
“Sorry, Your Majesty, I had to run a few errands first. Shall we start?”
The king cleared his throat and nodded, holding out his hand to the guard nearest him. A scroll was placed into his large palm before he quickly unraveled it.
Jungkook watched his eyes flit across the parchment, and when he deemed it satisfactory, the king handed it back to the guard so he could pass it down to Jungkook.
“You’ll find the agenda there for tomorrow’s event. I’m entrusting you, as usual, with all the planning so you can make sure everything is taken care of.”
Jungkook hummed as he read through everything. It all looked to be in order: designated time for the other guests to arrive, instructions for what catering needed to be prepared, an outline of what was required for Yoongi’s meeting with the princess-
Jungkook read that line again. And another time. He ground his teeth together as he looked back up at the king whose eyebrow was raised as he waited.
“Well? Is something the matter? You look perturbed.”
“Father-”
“This is an official meeting, boy. No informal titles allowed.”
Jungkook’s jaw was clenched. “Your Majesty,” he tried again, “what is this last portion here about a meeting with a princess?”
“Ah yes, that.” The nonchalant answer made Jungkook’s anger rise even further. “The meeting between their princess and our prince is what will be the defining moment for the entire event.”
Jungkook had known there was some sort of event happening that was supposed to – hopefully – demolish the rivalry between the two neighboring kingdoms. There had been bad blood for far too long, and it sometimes made it difficult to retrieve supplies from other areas without conflict arising.
Jungkook had been tasked with planning everything for the guests arrival, as his job required him to do. Despite being kicked from the royal lineage, he was allowed to stay a part of the royal court and act as a steward of sorts. It wasn’t always the best, but he figured it beat being exiled from the kingdom entirely.
He worked tirelessly over the last several months to ensure that all boxes were checked for this gathering. But this new information blindsided him, and now it suddenly made sense why his father and Yoongi both seemed so cocky and sure that this would work.
“And no one thought it pertinent enough to tell me that this would be happening?”
Of all things he could’ve done in that moment, the king had the audacity to shrug. “You won’t be present for that bit of it, so we didn’t feel it was necessary to tell you.”
“Then why isn’t Yoongi here for this instead of me,” Jungkook tried to keep his tone respectful, but even he couldn’t stop some of the malice from slipping through.
“The prince” the king put heavy emphasis on the title, “is busy carrying out other affairs, so it didn’t seem important to bother him with this.”
“Yeah, affair is certainly one way to put it,” he mumbled, crossing his arms as he looked to the side.
“I beg your pardon?”
Jungkook exhaled through his nose. “Nothing, Your Majesty.”
The king stared at Jungkook for a few more moments before he dismissed the other guards in the room.
“Gentleman, if you’d kindly take your leave for a moment – I need to have a discussion with my son. Two of you may remain posted at the door in case you’re needed.”
The guards obeyed quickly, bowing as they exited.
Jungkook scoffed. “So now I’m your ‘son?’ I’m surprised that word still exists in your vocabulary where I’m concerned.”
“Jungkook, be quiet!” The king raised his voice as a warning and slammed his fist against the table, stopping Jungkook’s jabs in their tracks.
“Regardless of your faults and any heinous acts you may have committed, you are still my son. Whether I like it or not.”
Jungkook hated how those words caused a dull ache in his chest.
“And because you are my son, that is why you are still allowed to be here in the first place. Do you ever think about how easy it would’ve been to toss you on the street like some mere commoner,” the king spat, his own outward frustration mirroring what Jungkook felt on the inside.
“You only tell me every chance you get, how could I not?”
“Watch your tone with me, boy. I am not above throwing you in the dungeon for insubordination.”
Jungkook was well aware. At this rate, he had his own personal cell with how often his father (and more so his brother) felt the need to send him there.
“Can we go back to what this ‘meeting’ is supposed to entail? Why is their princess involved?”
The king squared his shoulders and smiled. “They’ve offered a marriage proposal.”
Jungkook’s eyes widened. “I’m sorry, a what?”
“Exactly what it sounds like. The king’s eldest daughter, Princess Mina, is being offered as a marriage candidate for Prince Yoongi.”
“And Yoongi agreed to this?”
The king frowned at Jungkook’s continued lack of formality before he nodded. “He’s been preparing for it for a while now.”
Jungkook clenched his fist under the table.
“Fucking unbelievable,” Jungkook muttered, a few seconds from leaving the meeting altogether in order to give the prince a piece of his mind.
“Language,” the king reminded him sternly.
“Look, fa- Your Majesty. With all due respect to you, I think this is a terrible idea.”
“Please do enlighten me as to why you feel that way.”
Jungkook sighed as he rubbed his temples. “Arranged marriages amongst royals never seem to work out well from what I’ve seen. Arranged marriages amongst anyone just seems like a poor idea.”
“Your mother and I married as part of an arrangement, and we turned out fine.”
Jungkook would beg to differ, but that was an entirely different conversation for some other time.
“I just think it’s odd that he would accept this proposal when he’s already involved with someone else.”
Finally, it was the king’s turn to look taken aback. “Whatever do you mean?”
‘He doesn’t know,’ Jungkook realized.
“Don’t worry about it, I just assumed he already had someone in mind is all.”
“Unlike you, the prince seems to be able to keep his mind off of finding love amongst the common rabble outside the castle walls.”
Jungkook winced.
“Additionally, if he did already have someone in mind, I’m sure I would’ve heard about it by now.”
“You know better than I would,” Jungkook lied. He knew that Yoongi kept many, many secrets from their parents, which is why he’d always been the favorite. They never got a glimpse of his true nature, but unfortunately for Jungkook, he got to see all of it.
“Indeed,” the king said with finality, marking the end of that conversation. “Now, back to the preparations for the event-”
“I’ll handle it,” Jungkook sounded much more deflated than when he entered the room. Animosity exhausted him.
“Good. I expect nothing less of you. I don’t expect much from you to start with, but I at least anticipate you will do your job.”
Another mindless insult. Jungkook stopped keeping count of how many times his father shamed him years ago after the scandal first broke.
If anyone asked him, he’d even go so far as to say his father’s love for him died the same day his human life ended.
“Now if you’ll excuse me, the queen and I have other matters to attend to before tomorrow.” The king got up from the table and walked off, not even bothering to see if Jungkook would also make way to leave. Before he exited through the door, he turned back one last time to look at Jungkook.
“Don’t make me regret letting you stay here. This is the most important thing the kingdom has faced since you were a child, and if you mess it up somehow, being exiled will be the least of your worries.”
Jungkook received the threat with a solemn stare, no more words spoken as he was then left alone in the large room.
On the way back to his chambers, Jungkook had a lapse in judgment. He turned and let his feet carry him to his new destination, landing three hard knocks on the door before it opened quickly.
“What?” An annoyed tone filtered through the open doorway. “Oh – it’s just you.”
Yoongi’s hair was less disheveled than it had been earlier, but it was clear he was now trying to get himself ready for later activities in the day.
“What do you want?” Yoongi crossed his arms as he leaned against the doorframe, not allowing Jungkook any space to enter the room.
Not that he really wanted to, anyway. He just needed to know one thing.
“Does she know?”
Yoongi blinked in confusion. “Does who know about what? You gotta be more specific, I can’t read your mind-”
“Does she know,” Jungkook interrupted, more sternly this time. “What’s happening tomorrow. Does she know?”
He had to ask. As much as he loathed her now, he still thought she deserved better than to be cheated on and discarded like she was nothing.
Even if that’s exactly what she’d done to him.
Jungkook watched as Yoongi’s eyes sparked with amusement when he finally understood. “Aeris? Yeah, she knows. She actually just left by the way; sorry you didn’t get to see her again.”
Jungkook’s eyebrows furrowed.
“So she knows and she’s fine with it?”
“Yeah, I mean – she gets it a ‘thing’ I have to do. It’s completely transactional and I’m only doing it for the betterment of the kingdom.”
Yoongi was lying through his teeth and Jungkook wanted to wipe his smug grin off his face. His entire life Yoongi had been selfish and only looked out for himself, so this idea that he was doing it to help the people living in the kingdom?
Absolutely preposterous.
Jungkook needed a fucking break. He needed to get away, clear his head before he had to come back and deal with everything else tomorrow.
He walked off without another word, something he knew Yoongi hated – which is most of the reason why he’d done it.
“You know,” Yoongi shouted after him, “I think bitterness suits you. It’s a good look since it matches the rest of your miserable demeanor!”
Jungkook ignored him and continued walking, not stopping until he reached his favorite spot in the entire castle.
He would often come up to the highest balcony, somewhere he could be alone with his thoughts and not have the added stress of other’s opinions for a short while.
The balcony was all but abandoned as he was the only one to frequent it. The only crime he’d ever say he committed was stealing the key to the door that granted access up here. After a while, everyone else forgot about it, so he was able to keep this spot hidden. A place of his own, where he didn’t have to worry about being found.
A place of his own where his thoughts could run wild. A place of his own where his demons continued to follow him despite his best efforts.
A place of his own where he could just be alone.
After all, that’s what was best for everyone, right?
Jungkook couldn’t help but wonder, as he’d done many times before, what his life would be like now if he hadn’t been attacked. His entire life – as a prince, as an official royal family member, as a living, breathing human – was cut short in the blink of an eye. His humanity as he knew it was gone in an instant.
If it hadn’t happened, though, where would he be now? Would it be him getting ready to marry someone for political gain instead of his brother?
He shook his head as he let out a humorless chuckle. He knew he’d fight that decision with everything he had, and for he first time since it had been stripped away from him, he was relieved he wasn’t in that kind of position anymore.
The thought of sharing his life with someone he didn’t truly care about, whether it was for the greater good or not, just didn’t seem right, nor did it seem fair. Not to mention the fact that it didn’t just include him: someone’s else’s life would be affected just as much as his.
It dawned on him then that he was standing here, genuinely putting thought into how he would handle such a situation. He wasn’t some cold, heartless being. He still had the ability to care for others, and that alone gave him some sort of hope.
He looked up at the moon, admiring how the light spilled through the branches of the tree overhead.
“Maybe I still have some humanity left after all.”
Tumblr media
lady-in-waiting (noun) a woman of noble birth who serves a female monarch as a member of the royal household.
“Please hold still, Your Highness,” you huffed with thinly veiled frustration as you tried to lace up the corset you were currently working on.
You made a mental note to go shopping later in order to find better dresses for the princess. They still would be ones that were just as extravagant, but hopefully didn’t give you a blood pressure spike to assist with.
“Oh please, what’s with the formal treatment? It’s just us right now, you don’t have to do that, you know.”
“Yes, but,” you tugged once more, finally letting out a sigh of relief when the strings worked how you wanted them to. “With the event happening soon, it’s better for me to get back into the habit.”
Being best friends with the princess granted you some privileges that you were grateful for. When it was just the two of you, you didn’t have to uphold this extra formal, fancy attitude and instead you both got to be much more laid-back. You knew she appreciated it just as much as - if not more than - you, since she was held to a higher standard and scrutinized more heavily.
However, by the kingdom’s definition, you were first and foremost her lady-in-waiting, which ranked above any and all other duties you had in the royal court. Which, unfortunately, meant that at certain times your role took precedence over your friendship, and that was just the way it had to be.
“Ugh, I can’t wait for all this stupid royal relations stuff to be over.”
“Mina-”
She held up a hand. “Let me get it out, then you can scold.”
You waited patiently, fixing the other parts of the dress while she rambled on for the umpteenth time about her dislike for the event happening soon.
“…I mean this is a rival kingdom, we don’t even like them, so why bother. You know?”
“Mhm,” you hummed as you agreed honestly. It did seem like a stretch for your kingdom to try and force relations with one who had been a long-standing rival. The way you saw it, if after all these years and prior failed attempts had yet to work, what made the king think this would be any different?
Of course, there was now the added factor of a new bargaining chip: the king and queen were offering one of their daughters as a potential marriage candidate for the other kingdom’s prince.
Mina, being the oldest princess in line, begrudgingly accepted for the sake of the kingdom.
The plan had been set in motion months prior, but it was all finally happening tomorrow – both you and Mina were on edge, anticipating the worst but hoping for the best.
What was supposed to happen seemed simple enough: the king would accompany the princess on her visit to the other kingdom, escorted heavily by guards and with you at her side, as you always were. She would meet the prince officially for the first time, and both kings would try to strike up some sort of arrangement.
You figured this would actually be more beneficial for them, seeing as their kingdom was still recovering from a huge scandal that happened a few years ago. You remembered it vividly, taking note of how the abruptness of it all never sat right with you.
The eldest prince stepped down from his position as next in line for the throne, following some sort of act that was only described as ‘utterly disgraceful’ and never really elaborated on in the public news.
Before the news broke, the kingdom was well known for its power and influence all over the land, and the downfall from it all landed a huge blow to their standing. It aided your own kingdom in rising above them in their rivalry, but it appeared that now your own monarchs wanted to put everything behind them and unite for…whatever reason.
You tried not to get too deeply involved in the politics. Your duty was to serve Mina, and the royal family as a whole – this didn’t leave you much room to voice your own opinions.
Mina’s soft calling of your name pulled you out of your thoughts.
“Yes?”
Any frustration you had left from the dress fiasco quickly evaporated when you saw her face. She was biting her lip, and in that moment she looked very meek, small. Very unlike the exuberant, confident young woman you knew.
“I’m scared.”
You sighed at that, pulling her into a hug that she gratefully accepted. This was this first time she had outright said it, but you could tell she was terrified from the moment she was first told about this arrangement months ago.
“I know,” you patted her back. You wanted to tell her everything would be alright, that it would all work out, but you couldn’t bring yourself to do it.
Lying to someone to provide them comfort was never something you could get behind, and you didn’t plan to start now.
“I promise you, though, that whatever happens, we’ll get through it together.” You didn’t feel bad saying that because it was the truth; you were ready to face anything when it came to Mina, and you’d do anything for her.
She was basically the most important person in your life, and you’d be damned if you let anything bad happen to her.
Well…anything short of letting her go through with a marriage to a man she’d never met.
Just as your duty to her came first, her duty to her kingdom came first. You knew it and respected it, even if you didn’t always like it.
Mina giggled, her frame shaking slightly in your hold. “It almost sounds like you’re the one I’m supposed to be marrying,” she teased.
You joined in her laughter. “I mean, I don’t think it would yield quite the same results-”
“We both know we’d be arrested before we could even say ‘I do.’” Mina joked, despite her dark attempt at humor having a level of truth to it.
“A princess marrying her lady-in-waiting?” You covered your heart and pretended to be appalled. “Imagine the scandal!”
Mina shoved you lightheartedly, her laughter echoing off the walls. She looked miles happier than she’d been a few minutes prior, and you were relieved to see it.
“C’mon, help me with my hair or we’re gonna be late.” Mina collected her hairbow from her dresser and handed it to you so you could tie up her hair in the back. When you were done, she glanced quickly in the mirror and nodded, pleased with the result.
“Is there anything else you need to do?”
You gave yourself a once-over in the mirror as well and decided that your outfit would have to do. It wasn’t bad by any means, but if you had a little more time, you probably could’ve spruced it up some more.
“All good here. After you, my Lady.” You made a grand gesture out of letting her go first, which earned you another light shove.
“Cut that out! We still have a few minutes of freedom left before we have to be formal.”
You chuckled. “You got it.”
✧───────⊱✧⊰───────✧
You accompanied Mina to her final etiquette training before the big day. Everything she learned was more of a refresher than new material, but her nervousness kept her from doing her best, which led to her being reprimanded by the queen.
“How can you expect to marry someone if you can’t play the part of a prim and proper princess?”
Mina bit her tongue, as she usually did with her mother, and you expected to get an earful from her later about the situation. To your surprise, instead of venting, she was quiet and calm upon returning to her chambers.
Before she was ready to sleep for the night, you checked in one her one last time. “Are you sure you’re ready for this?”
With a smile that didn’t quite reach her eyes, she responded. “As ready as I’ll ever be.”
✧───────⊱✧⊰───────✧
You had never woken up more stressed out in your entire life.
All your training had culminated in this moment. You were to make sure that the princess arrived safely along with her appointed guards, and it was also up to you to make sure that everything went off without a hitch.
Such a small responsibility, right? What could possibly go wrong?
Well, for starters-
The castle you found yourself in was much larger than you anticipated, which was saying a lot considering the castle you lived in was already rather large.
Also, you weren’t the best with directions, but as long as you and Mina didn’t get separated, that shouldn’t be a problem.
And it wasn’t a problem…until it came time for her to meet the prince.
“We’re sorry, miss, but only high-ranking royal officials can be present for this meeting.” A guard held out his arm, blocking you from following Mina into the room. She frowned and tried to protest on your behalf, but her father wasn’t having any of it.
“She’ll be fine, we need to get a move on.” He grabbed a hold of her elbow and ushered her along, and you got one last look at her worried countenance before the doors closed.
Now was when the panic set in.
“I-I need water. Or just- something.” You said it aloud but didn’t really know if anyone would hear you or help you for that matter.
Thankfully, the guard who had just cut you off was kind enough to give you directions to the kitchen and dining area. You’d been there not too long ago when everyone was eating the meal that had been prepared, so surely – you thought – it wouldn’t be an issue to stop by and get a drink to calm your nerves.
That plan worked for all of about ten minutes before you re-entered the hallway from the dining room only to find nobody was around. No guards, no passerby, nothing.
It didn’t help that, from what you had seen, most hallways looked nearly identical.
You were officially lost. Alone, panicking, and lost in a castle you’d never been to before with no one in sight to help. Unsure of what else to do, since walking around aimlessly definitely did not seem like a good idea, you did what any normal person would do.
You sat down on the floor and wrapped your arms around your legs, resting your head on top of your knees.
This had to be your worst nightmare. You were separated from Mina, the one person other than yourself who you were responsible for taking care of, and you were also stuck in unfamiliar territory which was one of your biggest fears.
None of your training ever prepared you for this-
“Are you alright, miss?”
A soft voice filtered through your thoughts, making your head snap up. Your breath got caught in your throat.
There was a man kneeling down in front of you, his hand extended as he offered you a gentle smile.
Suddenly, your situation didn’t seem like such a nightmare anymore.

Or alternatively….
In fairytales, the prince saves the princess from the evil witch. No one ever expects the princess and the witch to be the same person.
Warnings: gruesome and horrifying details, curses, lots of sad times, details of deformations, blood.

For years you’ve existed, biding your time, until one morning you receive a name which throws your entire world into chaos: the name of Park Jimin, High Prince of Hell himself.

Wrong House Ch 1: Best Birthday Ever
Cast: Jeon Jungkook, Jungkook's parents, Jungkook's granddad, man in green
Summary: Jungkook wakes up on Halloween Morning, and forgets that there's no class + a horrible day in general. Oh right, and he has an encounter with a warrior, or two, and the Gryffindor's Snake.
Hogwarts is home to many. A sanctuary. A place one can return to year after year and just be themselves. Away from familial and societal expectations. Or so first-year Gryffindor Jeon Jungkook has been told.
Spoiler: he doesn't agree.
Jungkook's first encounter with the magical world was on his sixth birthday and if anyone had been kind enough to have asked him how he'd felt, he would wholeheartedly say that it was the most terrifying moment in his life to date. Second to that would be the time he poured tea for his granddad and it turned into frog eggs and had to spend a full half hour trying to stop the old man from drinking from the cursed cup.
His parents had decided that a day out in London would be the "best birthday present ever" and Jungkook had, of course, very much agreed. So excited to ride the London Eye and to visit the London Aquarium, Jungkook bolted ahead of his parents as soon as they stepped out of the train at King's Cross Station, which in hindsight was very stupid of him as a) he was separating himself from his parents in a very crowded place which b) happens to be somewhere new and unfamiliar to the just-turned-six-year-old, not to mentioned that c) they were supposed to get the underground and not get out of the station like Jungkook tried to do. He'd turned around at some point, to see if his parents had followed him, and ran back towards platform 10 when he realised that no, they weren't following just behind him like they usually do.
He'd been running, close to tears and disoriented, mentally congratulating himself for dodging that tall man with the green cape for about a second until he realised that by dodging the man, he'd put himself right in front of a wall. Too late to stop. Too late to change direction.
Jungkook closed his eyes, hand stretched out and braced for impact.
He burst into tears as pain shot through his arm and his side where his own elbow, the traitor, had lodged itself. Stinging on his knees where he'd apparently scraped himself but as he opened his eyes, Jungkook couldn't find the wall he'd just bumped into. Instead, there were crowds of adults and children and a massive red train he was sure wasn't on the platform a second ago because he definitely would have noticed. He blinked, pain forgotten for a few seconds of confusion. And then he cried. Cried because he missed his parents. Cried because he was in pain. Cried because he didn't know what was going on and where this stranger lady with a long purple cape was taking him.
He doesn't actually remember anything else after that. His parents had told him that someone took him to the concierge where they then found him and then had apparently spent the rest of the day enjoying what his parents had planned. Jungkook doesn't remember.
After that, a series of unwanted events started to happen around him that remained mostly unexplained for the next five years up until a man in green showed up to their house about a month before his eleventh birthday claiming to be a wizard and offering 'education'. His mother had been delighted, a wizard in her family (she'd explained that she used to have a best friend who came out as a witch --> she's dead now but kook doesn't need to know that), and his father had let out a relieved "oh is that all?" (his dad, a professor who specialises in mythical Lore, was sure Kook was a changeling, taken on his sixth birthday).

Omg, I've got a news. Liz The Wizard said that she went on a date with a very famous guy recently and it's interesting that she looks and acts a lot like Mrs. Jeon in readings. And I remember you saying he ready met her. She's very sassy and classy btw. She's from Belgium but she seems to have asian heritage in some way. And she's younger than him but she actually looks more mature. Really, she behaves like 30 old when she's only 23. I don't know but I'm sure it's Mrs. Jeon.
At first, my ass exploded a little, because you really watch every YouTuber/tik tok'er and are like, "Oh, she's Mrs. Jeon"
I have a lot of questions for you. Do you know what Jeongguk's future wife looks like? Then why is this one similar? (If that's what I'm saying without any complaints, now I'm purely interested)
Yes, I agree, she looks VERY mature. I'm kind of shocked that she's 23…
First of all, I don't know what readings you've read, but as far as I remember, (not only mine) but all other people say different things about appearance. So this is a minus on the list. Character - there may be thousands of them, those who are similar to her in character and behavior. And by the way, a moment. I made her character, or rather her personality, not her character. But there was no reading how she behaves in public and so on. Because they can be completely different "ladies" according to the description. You know that a person has 6 masks? One is him with his parents, the second with colleagues, the third with friends, the fourth with a loved one, the fifth with those who are lower in status/service and the sixth with himself.
And in the end - we won't find out what kind of celebrity was there, because for you it's Jungkook, and for her it could be Rockefeller.

Chapter 1 - Dioch
Night falls, the wind blows, the animals around are singing in joy as he enters the forest to find his favorite place.
Kim Taehyung climbed into the tree house and made a comfortable position to watch the sky turn dark.
Stars begin to appear in the dark sky. They make a beautiful formation, like a unicorn in shape. He sighed in awed as he watched, never bored even if he always did this almost everyday.
He started doing this ever since he joined the team.
It's been more than 100 years ever since that painful day happened.
 He was a Dioch.
A Dioch is a very strong creature. Dioch is a half elf and half human. He can fly and he can live for a really long time just like an elf, but his look and heart is like a human. Dioch is a very rare creature, because normally dioch wouldn’t be able to survive after they’re born. Humans and elves couldn’t have a kid, it’s their fate, it’s just a curse. If they’re survived they’ll be a very strong creature, a Dioch.
100.000 Years before there’s Byun Baekhyun, the first Dioch who was able to survive, he was so strong before, he was a hero, protecting and fighting evil creatures, but now he was gone, No one knew where he was.
Taehyung is the second dioch who was able to survive and grow up to be a fine and strong man. Dioch also was blessed with special hands. With his bare hands, he could make an incredible attack by creating wind and thunder.
With this power he could make the opponent turn to ash.
Taehyung's father was a human while his mother was an elf. The elf is eternal but they can die with their true enemy, a dragon devil. And Taehyung's mother was dead after being attacked by them, leaving him with a sapphire blade, his mother's legacy.
Taehyung sealed the sapphire blade with his power, he created thunder and filled the thunder to the blade. It became a powerful weapon. He didn’t know his deed would just make his life harder, because as a dioch, he already had so many enemies, evil creatures wanted to kill him to steal his power, and with the weapons he had, the evil creatures were more aggressive to kill him.
He wasn't scared though, he was so strong he could fight them.Through the harsh situation he managed to save people on his land with that weapon, he lived with saving people and fighting all evil creatures. But one day, they started to attack the people around him. It made him scared. Because he didn’t want to lose everyone he loved.
And one day his fear became true.
He lost Byul.
His lover.
He lost the love of his life in the hands of a wick witch, Laurie. She was about to attack him when Byul pushed him aside and got shot by a thunderstruck instead. That was too fast. Byul was a human, in the blink of an eye, she's gone. Laurie disappeared soon after, terrified.
After Byul was gone, he went crazy, his heart turned to a cold stone, he became a cruel murderer. He tried to kill Laurie and her kind, but he couldn’t find laurie. Desperate, He killed more than 1000 wizards he just found.
Until one night, he suddenly remembered about his lover and he knew that if she was still there she would hate him for what he had done. And he regretted it, he just wanted Laurie to die but that witch, she was hiding from him and he killed innocent wizards instead.
He was crying that night. The rain was pouring so hard. His screaming was blaring into the cold night in the forest, shouted out with the lightning.
He was crying out loud he could barely feel anything, he was crying yet the only thing he could feel was numbness.
That was the time when Kim Namjoon gave him a hand and took him to their home.
Namjoon lived with another 5 men. Min Suga, Kim Seokjin, Jung Hoseok, Park Jimin and Jeon Jungkook. They were so nice and treated him like he's a treasure.
And it turns out Namjoon is the leader of a Bangtan, the fighter team who have a mission to kill the lord of darkness, the most undefeatable one among other evil creatures, Dominus, who wanted to rule the whole universe and who always killed people without mercy, destroy their planets, kidnapped them and forcing them to be his slaves. Namjoon with his team came together to fight to kill him and bring peace to save the universe. It wasn’t easy, because he was so strong, Namjoon and his team needed to set a strategy to fight him.
After Namjoon met Taehyung, who is a Dioch, a very rare creature in the whole universe. He then asked Taehyung to join the team. He knew Taehyung was fighting all evil creatures and saving a lot of people’s lives. They have the same purpose so he thought Taehyung could be a Bangtan member.
Months after he met Namjoon, he became one of the members of the team.
"Guys, meet our new fighter, Kim Taehyung. From now on, He will fight and bring peace together with us."
So that night Namjoon happily announced to the other members that he was finally becoming one of the members of their team.
He was still cold, not talked much and didn't even smile yet everyone was welcoming him with warm hugs.
He just stood stuck, rooted on the floor, gaze falling down, looking at the glossy marbles as he felt a warm embrace every now and then.
The only thing he had in mind was that he wanted to have someone to rely on, to have people he could lean to when he was in pain, when he needed to forget about her even if he didn't want to. He just needed that pain in his chest to stop.
"What are you doing here alone, Tae?" It was Jimin's voice that made all his memories fade into thin air. Jimin is an elf, he's one of the Bangtan members.
He glanced and found a smiling Jimin on his side, he was stretching his legs in front and put his hands behind, matching his position.
"I just can't sleep and need fresh air." He smiled thinly.
"Do you want warm milk? I'll make one for you." Jimin asked as he's getting ready to get up.
"No thanks Jimin. It's fine. I just need to watch the sky for a bit. I'm so sure I'll sleep after this." He looked away and watched the sky again.
"Why do you like the sky so much Tae? Especially at night." Jimin frowned, feeling confused why his friend was always spending so much time just to watch the night sky.
Taehyung smiled as he felt a familiar warmness in his chest. He had no idea why he loved watching the dark sky, especially the moon and the stars, it made his heart calm somehow and his pain was gone even just for a while.
Though the fight and war he's been through. The up and down. The happy moments with Bangtan, his new family and friends. Still, He couldn't forget about Byul, the love of his life.
Even after more than 100 years his lover's death. She isn't completely gone. She stayed there in his memories and his heart. He always remembered her once in a while. It still pains him so much that he had to accept the fact that she was dead.
"Tae? Taehyung?" Jimin's voice again makes him out of his depth of thought. Taehyung slowly turned to him and realised that he didn't answer him.
"I don't know. It just calmed me for no reason. It's peaceful and makes me happy." He sighed and tried to stop thinking about her.
"I see, I love the blue sky too. It's so bright and the colour is so beautiful. Do you like the blue sky?" Jimin giggled from his side.
Taehyung shakes his head and chuckles.
"I only like the night sky."
"Why?" Jimin confusedly asked. He’s always been curious ever since he realised Taehyung loved to spend his night watching the night sky.
"At night I could see the moon and stars. They always shine so brightly. They're so pretty. I couldn't see them in the blue sky." Taehyung honestly answered with a calm smile, his eyes showing affection once he said it as he kept watching the sky up above making his friend turn to confusion more.
"You like them that much?"
Taehyung nods without even turning to his friend.
"So you're excited to see them up close? And set your feet on your favorite places." Jimin asked suddenly, he remembered what their leader said hours ago.
"Huh?" Now it's Taehyung’s turn to be confused. He didn't understand.
"You forget about the mission?" Jimin gasped in disbelief as he sat straight to watch his friend closely.
Taehyung bites his lip and shakes his head slowly, feeling sorry because honestly he didn't pay much attention to his leader's speech when they were in the meeting room.
"I guess you didn't hear what Namjoon said 2 hours ago, did you?" Jimin shook his head and chuckled as if he already figured it out since Taehyung did this not only once. He’s always in deep thought, like he was wandering in his mind. And Jimin somehow felt so sad looking at his friend so lost like that.
Taehyung nods honestly and quickly, he wanted to hear Jimin tell him right away. He felt bad for not paying attention, his leader must be talking about the important mission.
"Well, Namjoon said he got news about Louis, we have to find a blue stone on the moon. The blue stone will lead us to some hints to show us where those weapons were hidden. We need to head out to that moon tomorrow before the sun rises. And we will ride a starship because we need to camouflage as humans and Namjoon is taking care of the starship right now." Jimin explains and Taehyung can feel his heartbeat increase for no reason. He doesn't know why he feels nervous all of sudden.

When do they find out Alex is Jungkook's son?!
A burst of purple lightning erupted from Arabella's finger tips, her purple eyes now glowing power as she held her son away from the man that was now cowering away in pain.
Taehyung grabbed her hand as three more guards ceased the male, Arabella shaking with anger. He could understand the reason for her anger, but murder wasn't the answer.
"You're going to kill-"
She looked at Taehyung, confused as to why he had suddenly stopped talking. He was staring at Alex with wide eyes, making Arabella look at her son.
A pair of glowing red orbs were staring back at Taehyung, making Arabella quickly cover his face.
"He is Jungkook's son!" Taehyung yelled.
"Shut up!" Arabella wacked his arm, "No he isn't!"
The door to the cabin was slammed open, making Arabella freeze as she held Alex close to her chest. Two people stood at the door, one wore black armor made of dragon scales and the other wore a black robe with white markings on it.
"Belle!" Jungkook breathed in relief.
"He's your son!" Taehyung yelled before anyone else could talk, "She used magic to change his eyes!"
"You're being too loud..," Alex mumbled under his breath, making Arabella cover his ears and glare at Taehyung.
Jungkook didn't say anything as the hooded figure stepped into the room, approaching Arabella and helping her stand.
"Your both idiots for not figuring that out sooner," They stated, "Arabella and Alex will be returning to the wizard tower,"
"Aunty Grace..," Arabella whispered.
Jungkook stabbed his sword into the ground, "You think you can take the imperial prince to the wizard tower?"
Grace stared at him, "He's not registered in the Jeon name, therefore he's not the imperial prince, Alex was born in the Mage temple,"
"He's a member of the mages unity," Arabella explained, keeping her head down.
A magic circle appeared underneath the both of them and they suddenly disappeared, Jungkook rushing forward and trying to capture them, but only managing to grab the air that stood in their place.
Taehyung was breathing heavily, eyes wide.
"I knew he was your son..," Taehyung whispered, "Why is he apart of the mages unity?!"
Jungkook groaned, "Because Arabella's father is the Archmage! Her Aunt is the head of the mages tower!"
The knight flinched while Jungkook groaned.
"I divorced Belle to keep her safe but I never told her that," Jungkook whispered, "They registered Alex as a mage so that I can never name him as my son..,"

Chapter 1
Tumblr media
The waves crashed against your body, throwing you back dangerously close to the sharp rocks. You fought against them, kicking your legs and and moving your arms with purpose. If you lost the battle you would be thrown like a ragdoll against the rocks.
A spell nagged the back of your mind, calling for your attention. Most sea witches had a natural talent at spells related to the weather and the moon. You had performed that spell once, calming down the storm and easing the rage of the sea. Your mother had been guiding you then as the waves gave way under your words. You couldn’t do it alone. The spell relied purely on the magic inside you. There was no tether, nothing to contain your magic. You couldn’t do that. You couldn’t lose control again.
A wave pushed you back, away from the boy. You didn’t have with you any vials of the potion you used for breathing underwater, you couldn’t have guessed you would need it. Gulping a deep breath, filling your lungs with as much air as they could store, you dived into the dark sea.
The boy was limp, swept around at the mercy of the sea. Your limbs were sore but you swam forward. Underwater it was easier to move without the waves pushing at you. Your last breath was burning in your lungs, the need to breathe overwhelming.
You were so close, you could see him clearly. Chestnut brown hair floated around his head, framing it like a twisted halo. His eyes were closed and small bubbles escaped to the surface. He had given up, surrendered his body to the storm.
Belatedly, when the dark sea no longer blurred the familiar features, you realized who he was. The boy looking half-dead in front of you was Jungkook, his doe eyes closed. One more minute, a few more seconds, and they would never open again.
One arm forward, then the other and again. A dull pain ran through your body as exhaustion tingled your bones. You weren’t about to give up. You had grown up in the sea, you knew her ways and her currents, you knew her darkest parts and her most beautiful corners. You wouldn’t let her claim a life that didn’t belong with her.
Looking up, it was as dark as the bottom. Finally wrapping your arms around Jungkook’s chest, you swam to the less threatening darkness. He was weightless in your arms as you pulled him along.
Breaking into the surface, you breathed in air like a starving animal. The waves weren’t any more merciful than before and you struggled to get back to the shore.
You shielded Jungkook with your body as you scrambled up the rocks. It would be hard doing it alone but it was impossible doing it dragging with you a man larger and heavier than you. Against the gray and black, a hand reached for you, grasping your arm. The fairy was doing his best to pull you both up, one hand on you and one on Jungkook. You could do this. You wouldn’t lose your life over a shitty storm. No one was losing their life over a shitty storm.
Your feet were steady on the rocks.
“Get him up first,” you called to the fairy. “I can climb up if I can use both arms!”
The fairy seemed to get the message because he let go of your hand, making sure you could get a grip on the rock, and wrapped both of his arms around Jungkook pulling him up with surprising strength. With your arms free, you gripped the rocks with both hands and climbed up. Heaving, you pulled your body up and stood on your feet. The fairy was carrying Jungkook bridal style close to his chest.
You stumbled on unsteady legs away from the rocks and where the forest floor started. “Lay him down,” you instructed. The was clearly shaken but he followed your directions, laying Jungkook gently on the floor. You dropped on your knees next to the boy, tilting his chin and head backwards to clear his airway. Leaning closer to his mouth, you listened for his breathing. You didn’t hear anything. You didn’t feel his breaths on your cheeks. His chest wasn’t rising and falling.
Keeping his head tilted back, you pinched his nose and sealed his mouth with yours. Your hands were shaking. You counted as you breathed into his mouth. One. Two. Three-
Jungkook started coughing, saltwater dripping from his mouth. You laid him on his side as water continued pouring from his mouth while he coughed. The painful sounds ran their course before subsiding as he fell limp, unconscious once again. You could hear his labored breathing and feel his breaths against your cheek, irregular and weak but there. His chest was rising and falling with life.
Sitting back, you placed a hand over your mouth to calm your own breathing. You could have witnessed the death of a person, of someone you knew. Right there, on the damp forest floor with the mud sinking in your clothes, Jungkook’s heart could have stopped.
“He’s freezing,” the fairy said, running his small hands over Jungkook’s pale face.
“It’s the water, he lost a lot of heat.” You got up with difficulty, urging your legs not to give in underneath you. “He’ll catch pneumonia if we don’t do anything. My house is nearby. Can you carry him?”
The fairy nodded, gathering his friend in his arms. “My hyungs can treat him. I just need your phone to-”
You cut him off, “I’m a witch, I can treat him.”
“Oh,” the fairy said. “Oh.” It didn’t take much to put two and two together. There weren’t any other witches in the area and the whispers about you had reached everyone in the community. Also, diving in the sea in this weather to reach Jungkook and getting out alive was enough of an indication.
But if he knew who you were, there was no chance he would let you use any kind of magic on Jungkook. The fairies and nymphs were more discreet than the mermaids but you had heard what they were telling about you. You weren’t to be trusted with magic, lest of all healing. Unless someone was looking to die. The worst part was that you couldn’t blame them. You didn’t trust yourself either.
The wards welcomed you home. The lights were turned on in the house, wisps of smoke from the chimney were curling towards the sky. You opened the door and two pairs of eyes landed on you.
Nathaniel shot up from the couch.
“Where have you been? You’re soaking wet,” he said, taking in your appearance.
“Thanks for the observation, I hadn’t noticed.” You opened the door wider, motioning for the fairy to get in.
Anna climbed down the stairs. “What possessed you to get out in this weather? Do you have no common sense left? We were-” Her eyes landed on the fairy and the boy in his arms. “Jimin?”
“Jimin?” you repeated. And oh, that made sense. Anna had met a fairy at the club who had moved with Namjoon and Seokjin. Jungkook stayed with Namjoon and Seokjin too. Of course the fairy with Jungkook would be the same fairy Anna had befriended.
“Please help him,” Jimin begged. “Please, I’ll do anything.”
“Be careful,” you said. “As a fairy, you should know it isn’t wise to promise anything.”
“If he’s alright, I don’t care.” Your heart constricted at the honesty reflected in his eyes.
You exchanged a look with your roommates and John was getting up from the couch, running upstairs in vampire speed while Anna rushed to the kitchen. Nathaniel took Jungkook from Jimin’s arm and placed him on the couch, which was smaller than him leaving his legs dangling from the armrest. You needed a bigger couch.
Anna appeared with a bucket. With a sharp motion of your hand the water dripping from all three of you landed into it. John draped three heavy mismatched blankets over Jungkook’s shivering form. He was coughing in his sleep. Your own throat felt scratchy and dry.
You rummaged in the cupboards, looking for a specific vial. Light blue color, marked in the language of the moon… You found two of them nestled between a potion for longer hair and an empty vial that shouldn’t be there.
Jimin was kneeling next to the couch, holding Jungkook’s hand and whispering in his ear. The easy spell had eradicated any traces of the rain on him but his cheeks were damp. Your roommates with their supernatural hearing were looking away.
“I won’t use my magic on him,” you said. “This potion is to prevent him catching a cold or pneumonia. It acts quickly but he might be drowsy for a couple of days.”
"He's a werewolf," Jimin blurted out before you could give Jungkook the potion. So Jungkook was a werewolf like Nathaniel. That explained how he had been carrying all the boxes. "Will it work on him?"
"This potion works on every magical creature," you assured him.
You were surprised Jimin wasn’t stopping you, just looking up at you with pleading eyes.  Fairies were huge gossips, they knew something about everyone and they were eager to share, they would have told him of your past. He should be trying to stop you, afraid you would hurt both him and Jungkook.
But he didn’t, he only raised Jungkook’s upper body as you poured the potion in his mouth.
Prevention potions were a thousand times easier to make than curing potions. The potion you had given Jungkook was healing magic at its most basic, all witches (and wizards) could make it. It didn’t require a lot of magic or any rare ingredients. The most difficult part of the process was catching the bubbles while it was brewing. They could become toxic. It was nothing compared to the spell you had been called to cast that day.
Jungkook’s pale face regained some of its color and his lips didn’t look blue anymore.
Jimin let out a breath of relief falling on Jungkook’s chest, a few more tears slipping down his cheeks. “Thank you, thank you so much. I could never repay you. You saved my Jungkookie.”
John came forward with another blanket. “Here, you were out in the cold too.”
Jimin took it. “Thank you.” His mouth opened and he turned to you. “You dived in the water! How are you feeling? You should take a potion too.”
You chuckled at his genuine worry. “I’m fine. I’m used to the temperatures of the sea. The worst I’m going to get is a cold.”
“Yeah, I feel that coming,” Nathaniel said. “The whining will be here soon.”
“And let’s not forget the obsession with chamomile tea,” Anna added.
A watery smile broke into Jimin’s face.
“Chamomile tea makes my throat feel better,” you said. “Anyway, you should call your friends and tell them you are here. And get up from the floor. The couch might be short but it’s wide.”
Jimin used Anna’s phone to call Seokjin. You weren’t the only one who had left the house without a phone. After Seokjin made sure they were both alright (although you could hear him having a panic attack when Jimin told him Jungkook was unconscious), he proceeded to scold them for being reckless and almost getting themselves killed.
You and your roommates were in the kitchen to give them some space but the failing sound spells in the house couldn’t do anything with the way Seokjin was shouting. Humming to herself, Anna put the kettle on. She acted like she couldn’t hear a word, which was impossible with her vampire hearing when you could pick up most of the conversation. John, on the other hand, wasn’t pretending, looking at the half opened door with interest.
“So, this is Jimin? I thought it was another fairy I saw at the door,” Nathaniel said out of the blue.
Anna leaned back against the counter and laughed. Nathaniel had the incredible skill to either dissipate the tension or to cause it. “Which fairy you thought was Jimin?”
“The tall one with the baby blue wings and white hair? I thought that was Jimin.”
“How did you come to that conclusion? That’s Andrian, he has been coming to the club for months,” she said. You had no idea who Andrian was and she hadn’t mentioned any Andrians before but you wouldn’t be surprised if Anna knew every person who had ever visited the club by name.
“Well, you said he was cute. I don’t see everyone who comes in or out of the club.”
“Isn’t that your job description?” you asked.
“That’s supposed to be his job description,” John corrected.
Nathaniel wasn’t deterred. “I’m not the only security guard in there. There are hundreds of people in the club every night.” The club was in the small town connecting the three supernatural communities in the area. Not many people lived in the town but it was designed and built to house most of the shops, the markets and places for entertainment, like the only club for miles.
A beep signaled that the water in the kettle was boiling. You had a large collection of different kids of tea in jars and boxes. Your mother used to collect them like someone would collect art pieces. You had enough tea to last you a couple lifetimes. For each one of you. Little labels with her neat handwriting described what each one was used for. There was a whole magic practice around the making of tea.
Calming tea to fight the cold and keep your heart light.
That would do.
“I want the blueberry one,” John said. John didn’t look like the guy who would enjoy tea, one of your customers had pointed it out. You had found it ridiculous because tea was for everyone and John’s hair pulled up in a ponytail and shaved at the sides and his multiple piercings didn’t have anything to do with it.
Anna set the mismatched teacups on the counter and prepared the tea. Three of the cups had the same pattern of flowers on them. One blue, one purple and one pink. The yellow one had been shattered, courtesy of Nathaniel discovering his werewolf strength. The other two were from a different set with baroque designs, three of those had been shattered and one lost. You had a feeling about what had happened to it. One of your clients had been eying that teacup.
Placing a cup in front of everyone and one on the side, Anna took a seat at the table. “Care to tell us why you ran out in the rain like a madwoman?”
“It wasn’t raining when I left.”
John huffed. “Yeah, it took about three minutes after that for the skies to open up. And let’s not forget the cyclone going on outside.”
“I was-” You patted your pockets. Nothing there. You had forgotten about the charm. In the chaos you hadn’t looked for it. In between diving into the sea, fighting with the waves to get to Jungkook and keep him alive, the charm had disappeared from you mind. “Damn, I didn’t get the charm. I dropped it on my way back before the storm. The waves must have swept it away. There is no chance I can make another one on time.”
John raised his eyebrows. “You ran out to find a charm?”
“That charm has to be delivered tomorrow. I’m done for.” He had promised you a generous sum for your work and now that was gone. All because you had been careless and failed to realize the charm had slipped from your pocket.
Nathaniel blew on the steaming tea. You were all waiting for one more. “It’s a charm. Can’t he wait a few more days? You can make it again.”
“He didn’t look like a man who would wait,” you grumbled.
“You can try,” Anna said. “Appearances can be deceptive.” She glanced at John who was busy adding more sugar to his tea.
But it wasn’t only his appearance, it was the way he spoke and the way he moved.  At this rate you would never collect enough money to move out. The spells you were doing were easy therefore they didn’t cost much. The most you earned was from selling potions and talismans.
You would talk with the customer but you doubted anything would come from it.
“You really went out to find a charm in this weather,” John said. “Wow, you really are stupid.”
“Go to hell. Like you are one to speak, Mr I-almost-dated-a-demon-and-got-turned-into-a-bat.”
John groaned. You all loved to remind him of that and you wouldn’t get tired of it anytime soon. Now you laughed but when it had happened you had been as scared as him. Thankfully the demon was of a very low rank and easily banished. “That was three years ago. And how was supposed to know she was a demon?”
“How was I supposed to know it would rain?” you shot back.
“There is a storm going on!”
“Will you calm down?” Anna’s voice cut through the room. Two fingers rubbed at her temples. “You’re giving me a headache.”
John huffed, taking a sip from his tea.
Nathaniel leaned back on his chair. “What about the fairy?”
“What about the fairy?” you repeated.
“There is a fairy in our living room. Where did you find him and his friend?”
You sighed. The tea was warming you up but you wouldn’t escape a sore throat for a few days. You held the cup between your hands and told them of what had happened, of how you saw him fall into the sea and you didn’t think before jumping in after him. If Jimin had been the one to jump in chances were they would have been lost in the waves. A chill ran through you.
If you hadn’t been there…
“You saved a man from drowning?” Nathaniel asked with a subtle look of admiration, which wasn’t often directed at you. “That’s cool.”
John was regarding you carefully. “You’re still stupid.”
“I like how you see someone drowning and your first instinct is to dive in to save them. In the middle of the storm,” Anna said.
“What else would you have me do?” Every minute had been precious. If you had wasted any more time thinking, you would have pulled out a corpse.
“Exactly what you did. But I can and will still worry.”
Silence settled over you. You could understand why they were worried. Other than John and Anna, you might not be related by blood but you had grown up together as siblings. There had been a moment in the sea when your lungs were burning and your body was screaming at you that fear for your life had almost taken over. You hadn’t let it, pushing it away with all your might. But it didn’t go away. Because you could have died there surrounded by darkness.
And all of that because you were too afraid of what would happen if you cast a powerful spell without a tether. But you had the right to be. It had been many years ago but you would never forget how your magic reared on you and slipped out of your grasp. If you had cast the spell to calm the sea, no one could guarantee that it wouldn’t rear back and do the opposite.
Jimin showed up at the entrance to his kitchen, his hair disheveled and fluffy from having the water drained straight from it. The call with Seokjin had ended. You had been too lost in your head to pay any attention to it.
He handed the phone to Anna. “Thank you,” he said, his voice quiet and small.
Anna’s fangs peeked between her lips as she smiled but that didn’t lessen its warmth, it only made it more genuine. “You’re welcome. Sit with us, I’ll make you some tea."
"You don't have to trouble yourself," Jimin said politely. He wasn't trembling anymore and his cheeks were dry but his puffy face and strained smile betrayed what had happened.
"It's no trouble, the water is ready." Anna's eyes flitted over different jars and packets before zeroing in on one. "Do you have anything against black tea, caramel and hazelnuts?"
"Not really," he said with a small smile.
Anna set herself to work and in seconds stream was swirling from the extra cup on the table. You glanced at the tea she had used, piecing together its effects. Something about calm and peace.
"Thank you," he said raising the cup to his lips.
Anna retreated back to her seat next to John, delivering a slap at the back of his neck when he whispered something to her. You didn't want to know.
"They didn't even introduce themselves," Anna said. "The bulky werewolf is Nathaniel and this abomination of a creature is my brother John."
"Abomination." John scoffed.
"This is Jimin," Anna continued undeterred. "And that's Y/N, in case she forgot to mention it."
Thinking back, you really couldn't remember telling him your name. Names seemed meaningless when you were trying to save a life.
"It's nice to meet you," Jimin said with a small smile. Your kitchen was decent in size for one person but with four it was way two crowded. You always complained at how small it was and how little space you had to work. But Jimin looked tiny when everything else appeared too large for the kitchen. His pink transparent wings glittered behind him in the orange hue of the light.
You saw him glance back at the living room. "It will take some time for him to wake up. The potion has pulled him into a deep sleep to help his body rest and boost his immune system. He will wake up tomorrow morning."
"Thank you for treating him. And saving him. Thank you so much. I don't know what would have happened if-" He cut himself off. He had been ready to jump after Jungkook and he would have if you hadn't stopped him. The waves wouldn't have let them escape.
"What were you doing outside in this weather?" Nathaniel asked. He wasn't judging them, he was just curious, but it could be interpreted in the wrong way sometimes. If there was something Nathaniel didn't have, that was tact.
Jimin shrunk in on himself, becoming even smaller than he already was. "It was my fault. We were going back home but I wanted to see the sea. I dragged him there. Where we stayed before, the sea was so far away. I just wanted to see the waves. I was so stupid." His eyes glimmered like his wings.
"Hey, it's alright." Anna placed a comforting hand on his shoulder. "It was careless in this weather but you couldn't have known."
"It was stupid," John said, blunt as ever. Unlike Nathaniel, he knew what tact was but he only used it occasionally, like a jacket he only partly liked. Most of the time John looked indifferent or his own version of cheeky and playful, but you could tell when he was worried.
Anna didn't appreciate his input, glaring at her brother in warning. "It was careless but you're both alright now."
"Yeah," Nathaniel agreed. "Y/N is an excellent swimmer."
You rolled your eyes. You had basically grown up in the sea. Being a sea witch you would be damned if you weren't good at swimming.
Jimin hung his head. "I'm sorry. Thank you for saving him even when it was dangerous."
"Enough thanks for today," you said. Jimin would go on thanking you again and again otherwise. "I was heading there, anyway."
A question surfaced in Jimin but he was too polite to voice it. John answered it anyway. "She dropped a charm and decided to go back in the middle of the storm. Very clever, our Y/N."
"A charm?" Jimin's eyes widened, his lips forming a pout. "But you didn't look for it."
"Yeah, I was a little preoccupied."
Jimin flushed at the reminder of what had happened, realizing you didn't have any time to lose when Jungkook was laying unconscious on the forest floor. A charm didn't come second to a life. It wasn't considered at all. There was no comparison.
"I'm sorry," Jimin said again with lowered eyes. His wings curved inwards as if to protect his small body.
"Stop that," you cut off his guilt spiral. "It's alright. It didn't matter much anyway. I can make another one."
You could make another one given a couple more days. It was one of the more complex charms and it required time and precision to perfect. You avoided adding that although you could make it again, you had already lost the client and a hefty amount of money.
Anna didn't take long to strike up a conversation with Jimin. Nathaniel jumped in easily with John adding a few comments here and there. The tea dwindled in your cups until you got up to place them all in the sink. John would wash them when the rest of you were asleep and Anna was preoccupied sketching clothes designs in the living room. Not needing sleep granted them a lot of extra time and more energy but also boredom. Anna had filled three sketchbook with designs ranging from haute couture dresses to sportswear and John had picked up six hobbies including learning how to play the electric guitar. The reason you had first noticed the silencing spells were wearing off was that you had been woken up at 3am by a rock n' roll concert downstairs.
"And you live all together? The seven of you?" Anna asked. "That's a lot of people."
"We have been staying together for years," Jimin said. "It was like we were all pulled together. We lived in the North, in Anemist."
Anna clicked her fingers together at the mention of the name and pointed at you. That was the name she had been looking for. Her tries had been very off.
Anemist was one of the largest cities in the continent, only second to the capital and very far from your community. It had been named for the mist that clung to it most of the year, swallowing the tops of the buildings and sometimes the streets. The first part was the beginning of another word that had been lost in time.
"How did you all come to stay together?" Anna asked.
Jimin's smile widened at the memories. "We didn't know each other then. I only knew Taehyungie, he's a druid. Have you met him?" You shook your heads. "He was with me at the club." That clarified it for Anna, who nodded enthusiastically. You remembered her mentioning a very handsome friend. "We went together to high school there. We were staying together and going to school together. The fae community I'm from live in Taehyung's old forest so they sent us together."
It wasn't uncommon for supernatural creatures to go to school with humans, especially in large cities. With the laws protecting them many had left their communities to go to the human cities. That had resulted in a blend of cultures and ideas and it was beautiful to see. Fairies opened coffee shops with enchanted drinks, vampires owned the most famous nightclubs, gargoyles guarded libraries and public buildings and sirens sang at festivals and concerts mesmerizing the audience.
The age of fear for both humans and supernatural creatures was over. That's what the TV and the tabloids said at least. But fear sunk deep and there were people who gripped it tight and refused to let go.
Jimin continued his story, "Jungkookie was in the same high school. Seokjin hyung had practically adopted him, he says he has adopted us all now. He was working at a magical café at the time while Namjoon was going to The University. They are cousins and they had lived their whole lives in the city. Then we met Yoongi hyung and Hobi hyung, they went to the café hyung worked at. He embarrassed himself in front of them trying to cheer up Yoongi hyung who had failed a job interview. Namjoon graduated with the highest score the University had seen in years and they instantly offered him a position as a teacher." Pride shone in Jimin's eyes when he talked about the wizard's accomplishments. "They rented a house for him near the University, a large one. I can't explain it but it was only natural that we would move in together. It was like it was supposed to happen."
"That's cute," Anna said. "But why did you leave then?"
Jimin's smile faltered for a second. "Namjoon hyung quit his job. We couldn't- We didn't want to stay in the city anymore. It was Seokjin hyung's dream to open his own magic shop and now we're here."
"See, four people aren't that many," Nathaniel told you. It was beyond you how that was what he had gathered from Jimin's story.
"In this house and with us being those four people, they are. They are too many." The house wasn't small but with the three large personalities of your roommates inside, it was bound to feel smaller than it was.
The storm raged on outside, only getting stronger and fiercer, you could feel it in your bones that it would last well into the night. Jimin and Jungkook were stuck in your house for the night. Not that Jungkook could leave without someone else carrying him. Jimin was about to apologize again but you stopped him.
To everyone's surprise John was the one to offer his room. It was the only room on the ground floor and the easiest one to carry Jungkook to. Jimin declined at first but gave in when you told him it would be better for Jungkook to rest in a bed and not a couch that didn't fit all of him. They wouldn't be depriving John of anything, for vampires rooms served as personal spaces and places to store their stuff, nothing more.
Thunder cracked outside illuminating the night. Nathaniel carried Jungkook to John's room and tucked him in under the covers. He insisted Jimin should rest and Jungkook, like most werewolves, was heavy. Anna was her usual fuzzy self bringing in more blankets and pillows and asking four times if Jimin was comfortable or if Jungkook looked like he was cold.
"I think they're fine for the night," you told her. Jimin was dressed in a pair of Anna's pajamas, they were closest to his side. With her larger than life personality it was often overlooked how tiny she was.
Jimin slipped under the covers next to Jungkook. "We are great. Thank you for this."
Anna dismissed his thanks with a wave of her hand. "It's nothing. If you need anything at all, John will be in the living room. My room is upstairs but if you give a shout I'll be down in a second."
"If someone shouts I'm afraid Nathaniel will be down in a second as well," you said.
Anna pursed her lips. "He used to sleep like the dead. I miss those days. Still, shout for me. I'll be down faster than him. The worst that will happen is him appearing in his duck boxers."
"Those are awful," you agreed.
A smile played on Jimin's lips as he snuggled closer to Jungkook. "I like ducks."
"I like ducks too," Anna said. "But not on underwear."
Jimin's giggles rung like fairy bells, which was fitting. You pulled Anna to the door and turned off the lights. "Goodnight for now. We'll see you in the morning."
"Unless you shout for me."
"Yes, Anna, unless they shout for you. Now, let's go to sleep."
"I don't need sleep."
"Yes, but I need sleep."
You closed the door behind you.
~°°×°°~°°×°°~°°×°°~°°×°°~°°×°°~°°×°°~°°×°°~°°×°°~
Every time you swallowed a dull pain down your throat tormented you. You had expected it, it had been obvious from the itchiness in your throat before falling asleep and the fact that you had dived into the sea in the middle of a storm and proceeded to run back home in the rain. And it wasn't only your throat that was sore, your body hadn't reacted kindly to being forced to fight against wild waves. Overall, you weren't feeling too great.
You stumbled out of bed like any other morning, getting dressed in some of the most comfortable clothes you could find and checking the weather through the window. The clouds had dispersed and the sun was rising in a mostly clear sky.
Anna was watching TV in the living room with her sketchbook balanced on her knees. She had changed clothes from last night and applied her morning makeup. The host of the show she was watching went on and on about the latest fashion show in the capital. The runway was filled with colorful fabrics and more chiffon than any situation called for.
John was outside tending to some of the plants the weather had destroyed. A lot of them were "enhanced" with a little magic but the others had trouble holding up against extreme conditions. A large branch had been ripped off from a lemon tree by the wind and crashed into a bed of petunias. The petunias had shifted to the sides and cleared an area for the branch.
The world was different after a storm, more quiet. After the booming thunder, the whistle of the wind and the waves crashing against the cliffside, the silence of the morning surprised you. You took a deep breath, tasting the change of the winds on your tongue. The windowsills were dripping. Droplets clung to the grass, the leaves of the trees and the petals of the flowers that had survived.
John was cutting the damaged and broken stems from the basil plants after draining their pots from water. All four of you knew the basics of tending to the garden, it had been inevitable with your mother's love for it, but you and John had picked it up easier than the others.
The bench was wet with rain so you remained standing. The sun had appeared fully from behind the forest and painted everything in a soft morning glow. John's sharp edges smoothed over as he hummed along to the melody coming from his headphones, clipping away with the scissors.
"Breakfast?" you asked, breaking the silence.
John turned to you, the scissors hovering over the basil. "Are you offering? Anna is too absorbed in that god-awful fashion show."
"It isn't that bad."
John gave you a look. "They are like a rainbow threw up on them and they decided to mix it with cotton candy."
You wrinkled your nose in disgust. "Ew, did you really have to put it like that? I was about to go make breakfast."
John shrugged and turned back to the plants. "I still want breakfast."
Vampires ate mostly like humans, they could go for days eating normal food until they had to drink blood. Food contained nutrients that could replace some in the blood but it could only satisfy them for so long.
"How did the night go?"
John didn't spare you a glance as he moved on to the next pot. "If you are worried about the fairy and the werewolf, nothing happened. I didn't hear from them all night."
That could mean two very different things depending on the context but you took his word at face value, not digging deeper into it. It was too early for your thoughts to be taking such complicated turns. They must have slept the night away if John hadn't heard anything.
"You are still stupid," John said. "I never took you for much of a hero, the kind that takes stupid risks. I guess I should have expected it. It must run in the family."
John was right, you didn't take risks, you tried to avoid them with everything you had. Risks had only ended in disaster for you. But when there was a life on the line... it was different. Your father had taken a risk going away in that grand adventure of his and never coming back. Taking John and Anna in hadn't been a risk, your mother hadn't taken a risk with them.
"You're ridiculous. When you're done here, come inside. I'll make breakfast." You turned around and left John in the garden.
Anna was still on the couch, this time drawing flowing lines in her sketchbook. The fashion show segment had ended and the woman on the TV was talking with the show's panel about a new movie coming out. It had failed to hold Anna's attention.
You were running low on ingredients, you had to write down a grocery list for the next time your roommates went into town. Because they didn't want to carry the groceries to the club with them they did most of the shopping after their shift ended and you could imagine them at a convenience store when the sky was still navy in the their clothes from the club, Nathaniel dead on his feet and bickering about what to buy. The grocery list was more of a guide and not a strict plan to follow.
Lucky for you, there was a carton of milk in the fridge and a few fresh eggs, a gift from a sphinx to Anna which you should found more weird than you did. You decided to make an omelette and go from there. Turning around, you were faced with a tentacle holding up the paprika.
"Thank you," you said, taking it and adding some to the mix.
You were flipping the omelette when you heard Anna through the open door. You leaned back to glance at the living room. Jungkook and Jimin were awake and talking with Anna.
You flipped the omelette again only to realize that it was the fourth time you were flipping it and you were very close to burning it. The lack of ingredients didn't leave you many choices for what else to make so you put some bread in the toaster and pulled out a jar of marmalade and a jar of honey.
In the blink of an eye, Anna appeared next to you. "Do you need any help?"
"No, I'm done," you said, placing everything on the table. The water in the kettle was boiling, you poured some in a cup to make chamomile tea.
There was shuffling behind you as Jungkook and Jimin entered the kitchen. Jimin was still wearing Anna's red silk pajamas and Jungkook was in one of Nathaniel's pairs. Jimin had dressed him in them last night. Anna had taken their clothes to wash them and iron them, your spell removed all the water but left them a little scratchy because of the leftover salt.
"Take a seat," Anna told them. "Y/N made breakfast. What about sandwiches?"
"We're out of cheese and ham. We have lettuce if you want."
"What about bacon?"
"Nathaniel ate the last of it yesterday."
"But we bought four packets last time we were in town."
"Yeah."
Anna pinched the bridge of her nose. "Omelette is fine."
"I'm glad," you said, taking your usual seat at the table. You turned your attention to your guests. "How did you sleep?"
"Great, thank you," Jimin said. Next to Jungkook he looked even smaller than he did last night, probably because Jungkook was a giant in comparison to Anna as well.
He touched Jungkook's bicep and the werewolf flushed to the tip of his ears. "Thank you... About yesterday. I wouldn't have... if you hadn't been there."
You glanced at Anna who nodded her head. "You're welcome, I guess. But Jimin has already thanked me enough for both of you."
The fairy lowered his head bashfully.
"I'm sorry," Jungkook said, his cheeks flushing red. "I just never learnt how to swim. That's really embarrassing."
"Hey, that's fine. A lot of people don't know how to swim," you tried to reassure him. It wasn't your strongest point but effort mattered, right? "As a sea witch, the number of times I've almost drowned is embarrassing."
Jungkook cracked a small smile. "You're just saying this. You must be an excellent swimmer."
You shook your head. "I'm a great swimmer now but you should have seen me when I was younger. And yesterday it wasn't a matter about knowing how to swim. Even an excellent swimmer could have been lost in the waves."
A door opened and closed and John walked leisurely into the kitchen. Anna was quick to introduce her brother to Jungkook. John was lean and shorter than him but Jungkook looked slightly intimidated when John smirked at him, his fangs making an appearance.
Nathaniel was the last to come down for breakfast, the omelette half-finished when he appeared. He took one look at Jimin and Jungkook, paused as what had happened yesterday crawled back and continued on his mission to get food. Food was like his sole purpose in life. He was the main reason you were so often out of food and your monthly expenses for groceries were way too high.
Jungkook was quiet during breakfast, other than thanking you and properly introducing himself he had kept to himself, his body angled towards Jimin as if being close to him offered him comfort, he was someone familiar unlike the four of you. You could understand, what he had been through had been traumatic. He had almost drowned last night, he had the right to feel lost or scared.
You had just finished eating when there was knocking on the door.
"I'll get this," Anna said.
The silver bells rung as she opened the door. Your mother had been the one to hang them there and as many times as you heard them ringing, they didn't annoy you. Their melody was soft and each time it was like it changed a tiny bit.
At the familiar voice, Jimin got up from his chair. You had only heard it once in person before but it was hard to forget. Curious to see if you were correct, you led the way to the living room followed by Jimin and Jungkook.
"Yah, there you are! You had us worried sick!" Seokjin shouted. Jimin's ears touched his shoulders, his wings drooping behind him. Jungkook was holding onto his arm. "Going out like that in that kind of weather. Next time you do something like that I will personally make sure you spend the rest of your lives as a pot plant. Both of you." Sharply, he pulled both of them in his arms. "Don't you ever dare to do anything like that again."
A small "Hyung" escaped Jimin as Seokjin squeezed them with all of his strength. You averted your attention from them, it was clear it was a personal moment. Seokjin hadn't come alone and you were a little late to notice but the green witch had demanded all of your attention with how loud he was. A shorter man was standing next to Anna looking at the three of them hugging with poorly hidden fondness. Another roommate.
He was wearing sunglasses so you couldn't see his eyes but it was impossible to miss the patches of scales around them, running down his cheeks and neck. They flashed green and gold, catching the light spilling through open door. He was some sort of reptile hybrid. There weren't any other species you knew of with scales on their skin and two legs. The sunglasses prevented you from getting more insight.
After Seokjin was satisfied with smothering Jimin and Jungkook, he started thanking you. In the last 24 hours you had been thanked more times than you had your entire life. He insisted on offering you anything you wanted from their shop for free, a life-long offer, saying they were at your debt. You didn't like how that sounded.
"The only payment I accept is the potion. Give me that and we are even," you joked.
"I'll give you ten," Seokjin said. Then he introduced their other roommate. Yoongi didn't react much other than greeting you politely and mumbling something about careless kids. Anna regarded him carefully, from his blond hair to his leather jacket to his red sneakers.
"I would offer you some breakfast but..." Anna trailed off.
"It was barely enough to feed the six of us," you finished for her.
"We ate breakfast earlier," Seokjin said. "Oh, don't mind Yoongi, he's just grumpy because we had to wake up early."
Yoongi rolled his eyes but otherwise didn't comment on Seokjin's teasing. Anna was still watching him. You noticed she had been having a hard time taking her eyes off him.
They bid you farewell, Seokjin pulling the fairy and werewolf behind him after thanking you yet again. He paused by the door and turned to you. "Joonie sends his greetings. He couldn't come because he is taking care of the shop." He gave you a wide smile and left.
He had looked only at you when saying that, Anna standing at the opposite side of the room. At any other situation, if a wizard was sending you greetings like that you would have felt threatened but Namjoon... Namjoon was different. You hadn't spoken to him many times but he had been kind enough, excluding the crashing into you which you could admit had been an honest mistake.
Maybe it was some sort of pass. You had saved one of their own so the wizard wouldn't ridicule you or demand you stop practicing magic. But that sounded plain ridiculous. Now, you couldn't imagine him demanding anything like that.
Yoongi lingered behind for a moment, thanking you once quietly before leaving. Seokjin was talking loudly as they walked but you couldn't really understand what about.
You closed the door. "What are you looking at?"
"Me?" Anna asked feigning ignorance. She put on her best innocent look but she wasn't fooling you. "Am I not allowed to appreciate the view?"
"The door is closed."
"The door is a great view."
"Yeah, when you are bored to death." The door of your house wasn't anything special. Handmade from cedarwood, it didn't have any details or anything interesting to observe. "Another handsome one?"
Anna sighed, flopping on the couch with all the grace of a sack of potatoes. Vampire abilities be damned. "You have eyes. Did you see him? He was-" She cut herself off throwing her head back. Now the ceiling had got her attention.
"That's a stronger reaction than usual," you commented.
Another voice joined you. "She digs the scales."
Anna threw one of her slippers at her brother.
"And who is sending greetings to Y/N?"

Hi! Any mermaid fics? I love reading them and I can’t seem to find many! also, any wizard/witch ones (preferably with smut)
hey anon !! this is probably eons too late but i hope you can still enjoy these !!
mermaid
Here Fishy Fishy - Kavbj (( 1/1 | M | 21,527))
Taehyung's a real fish out of water (no like, for real) and Jungkook just saved him from drowning.
abyssal - smoltae (( 37/37 | G | 70,426 ))
Jeon Jeongguk has always appreciated rare, beautiful things. And Kim Taehyung? He is as rare and beautiful as they come.
or, Jeongguk is a mobster with a weakness for rare art, and Taehyung is the only captive mermaid in Seoul. And maybe, they are meant to save each other.
just wanna be (part of your world) - jeontime (( 1/1 | M | 16,301 ))
Everyone tells Jungkook that loving the ocean is impossible. Taehyung proves them all wrong.
One Tail, Two Legs - AnimeTrashQueen (( 1/1 | N/R | 23,129 ))
He could finally get a good look at him.
He had a nice jawline, brown flowing hair, large doe-like brown eyes and a cute nose. He had a very muscular build, with defined abs, pecs and large arms. His hands were webbed like a duck's between the long fingers with sharp nails that could easily tear into someone. His tail was just pure muscle. It was a mixture of dark green lined up with faded dark blue, some lighter colours as well, light blue, green and gold spots here and there. His ears were like little fins, the same colour as his tail. He had some scales roaming around on his upper body, and he had gills on the side of his neck. Taehyung thought his teeth would be sharp, but the creature opened his mouth to chew some more- it was the very last bit. The mermaid had sharp, shark like teeth, that could easily rip into something, his canines were incredibly sharp and long. Taehyung saw something like a second eyelid, but he wasn’t completely sure. Taehyung shivered at the sight.
but the lullaby blares - veausy (( 3/3 | T | 25,835 ))
And the ocean's very lonely. Though it's lovely, too.
make me hit rock bottom - daeredevil (( 1/1 | E | 10,080 ))
For someone as primal as Jeongguk, a pretty human like Taehyung is a really easy target
witches/wizards
where flowers bloom. - meganni (( 2/2 | M | 70,876 ))
After having woken up from an accident, Jeongguk finds himself being able to see ghosts.
Seeking help, he comes back to his old hometown and it’s there that he meets Taehyung – an ambitious, young witch that offers him a hand in need.
Moonstruck - strawberries_and_stickers (( 1/1 | E | 16,059 ))
moonstruck: (adjective) dreamily romantic or bemused
If you're like Taehyung, you suck at being a witch.
If you're like Taehyung, you summon the wrong kind of demon.
If you're like Taehyung, you spontaneously combust when it turns out that demon is an incubus and happens to be your crush.
Swamp Magic - GinForInk (( 11/11 | E | 211,319 ))
Two witches lure Jungkook into their cabin in the woods.
(this one is vminkook!)
Toads and Periwinkle - Kavbj (( 1/1 | M | 18,155 ))
Jungkook’s kinda cursed (like really cursed) and Taehyung’s kinda a witch (like really not a great one but he tries).
Sphalerite - musclekink (( 1/1 | E | 8,572 ))
Never trust shapeshifters. They're sneaky little things and are always up to no good. Troublemakers.
Witch Hazel - taekoovantae (( 16/16 | E | 100,536 ))
Kim Taehyung is used to the heckling and mocking he gets from his coven for his inability to summon. But during a Blood Moon celebration, he finds himself sick of it and decides to show them, once and for all, that he is a perfectly competent witch.
And promptly summons Jeon Jungkook, an ancient and powerful vampire, lost to history due to his imprisonment well over a century ago.
My Love Loves Me - Elucubrations (( 2/2 | E | 21,350 ))
Taehyung is a young witch charged with a half-demon child who visits Hell every other weekend. As Jeongguk grows up, however, things become complicated between the two. Time passes and things change, but two remain constant — a kiss is an oath and Taehyung has no intention of breaking his.
paint me in faded purples and blues - cherryjjk (( 1/1 | E | 6,178 ))
jeongguk and taehyung get more than they bargain for when attempting a simple luck spell.
or, taekook fuck up and accidentally make an aphrodisiac.
spells & potions. - jeii (( 1/1 | E | 8,197 ))
Werewolf Jeongguk can't pop a knot, he thinks a potion might help. Witch Taehyung has other ideas.
lost in the woods - aeterisks (( 1/1 | E | 11,772 ))
Life as witch, despite being mundane, has been treating Taehyung well. Little did he know that the sudden appearance of an injured prince was all he needed to spice things up.
admin nj - enjoy :)
