can i be so honest. every critique ive read of nope so far has been very lacking
#myposts#genuinely it seems like the only way people feel comfortable with interacting w this film is through the lens of 'spectacle bad'#without ever really defining what 'spectacle' means for the record!#it often takes of these contradictory meanings even in the same sentences which makes the whole thing feel worse bc like#i dont think YOU know what YOURE talking about#and the same w how the movie talks about race#earnestly if the only thing u think it has to say about race is like. people of color are either excluded from or tokenized in hollywood#then ur going to have to square that w ur critique that spectacle is bad end of sentence#is it the characters saving grace that they are exempted from an exploitative industry or should that industry be exploiting them??#bc if ur saying hollywood is bad bc excluding ppl of color + spectacle exploitation u seem to be implying that we should want#people of color to be spectacized and tokenized. and i dont think most people making those statements would agree w that#i genuinely think its the fault of this overreliance on the word spectacle as the thing that holds it together#which sucks actually bc i havent even seen people super digging into the word itself and how fascinating its usage as the bad miracle is#idk. i think theres more to the movie--way more--than just the sin of looking#witnessing and understanding through the look is so significant and so good in it. it is OJ looking at emerald him Seeing her#that gives jean jacket its name. its recognization#we learn to be less afraid of the monster when we understand it--when we see it--and know it doesnt want to be looked at#do you see what i mean?#and thats aside from how it complicates the black horror narrative itself--how it highlights desperation induced by poverty#induced by racism and racially justified disregard as legitimate problems that cant be solved by galacybraining 'nopeing' out#they try to leave--and try to Not Look to abandon the spectacle as spectacle based critique says is the main concept of the movie#and thats not possible. it doesnt work. they go back and going back necessitates looking and engaging w spectacle#like literally the answer is not as simple as 'to spectacalize is Wrong' bc the victorious endstate of the movie#is for these characters to reclaim the history of spectacle theyre denied by disenfranchisement. she takes the frame by frame pictures#their names are attached to it forever and cant be forgotten as the jockey is. how can you square that?? honestly#idk. just watching this yt video where some white woman is talking about how nope is about and only about the entertainment industry#its just not the whole picture

I love "It Starts With Sorry" and it definitely seems to be an underrated song in a collection of bangers from the season, but this particular lyric stands out to me because Sir Pentious isn't denying anything here and is being completely vulnerable in how he sees himself, as being someone unworthy of kindness. ;_; Although it makes me sad to see him cry (he's still my precious snake boi ;_; ), I appreciate him owning up and acknowledging he's done bad things, such as abusing Charlie's trust to spy on everyone. ;_; Admitting what you did was wrong, feeling genuinely bad about it and apologizing after all is the start for seeking forgiveness, followed by proving it through actions. <3<3<3 With Vivziepop saying that we'll get to see what got Sir Pentious into Hell, I have a feeling that while he didn't make good choices (or at least made some significant bad ones), they may wind up being understandably and be born of being wronged or him being desperate. Poor snake boi may have to witness his worst mistakes then if he winds up being shown them in the glowing orb we saw in "Welcome to Heaven," so we'll probably see a lot of sad Sir Pentious in that episode. ;_;
Also:
Tumblr media
Charlie just looking on with such sadness and sympathy is really impactful to me too because she believes he can be better and deserves a second chance when Sir Pentious himself doesn't; she just hates to see someone suffer. ;_; Charlie and Sir Pentious friendship though is so unbelievably sweet. <3<3<3

City of Nightmares
Tumblr media
Azriel longed for a mate, a love like that of his brothers. Soft and sweet and gentle. Too bad he got a citizen of Hewn City instead.
Notes: Be gentle this is just the rabbling of an idiot. Also Y/n has a Hewn city perspective so may be occasionally overly critical (or maybe rightly critical) but also a little prejudice.
No member of the inner circle, including Azriel enjoyed visiting Hewn City and today would be no different. Still as Azriel stood with Cassian watching and waiting as Ryhs, Mor and Feyre discuss final details before they winnowed in, Azriel felt a sense of urgency to get going. The reason was his shadows, who over the past few had seemed to buzz more and more with anticipation at the approaching meeting, although why, he could not be certain. He frowned and waved one away as it past his ear.
Go go now now.
Taste
Touch
We must go.
Although his shows enjoyed being cryptic he had always been able to understand their message.
Cassian gave him a curious look aware of the shadows odd behavior, it was the reason he had left Illyrian camps to join them for what should be a routine meeting. Azriel would have preferred to keep it too himself but as it was his job to protect his court, he had told Rhys anyway. The shadows are restless, there was something significant is about Hewn. Thus the entire inner circle, save for Amren would be going.
“Anything new to report?” Cassian asked.
Azriel shrugged, “they are unhappy but do not seem worried”.
Finally the three high fea turned to them and after exchanging unhappy looks of resignation the group winnowed under the mountain.
xxx
Y/n swirled the wine in her glass before taking an inappropriately large gulp. As a member of one of Hewn cities most prominent members she was required to be present in the thrown room for the High Lords arrival. The Umbra family were known for high powerful night magic and ranks among the Darkbringers. A number of them were here tonight. Over a few dozen other members of the court were also present and a good few seemed to share in her boredom.
Y/n rolled her eyes as she watched her cousin Colin, flirt with a female across the room, not even pretending to be nervous about the arrival the courts most powerful members.
The High Lords and his inner circle's visits were tedious, rarely did anything noteworthy actually happen. Though their posturing could be entertaining. So long as the agreement between the High lord and Keir remained nothing would change, not really. No cruelty inflicted by the Inner Circle had ever compared to the daily on goings witnessed in Hewn City.
Finally the door to the right of the throne swung open with a bang and into the room strode first the Spymaster and the General of the Illyrian followed closely by Keir’s daughter. Over the top of her wine glass Y/N could admit if only to herself that she had always found the Shadowsiger incredibly attractive, even if he was an Illyrian brute.
She found the way the shadows swirled around his large frame enchanting. Y/N could describe them as ethereal. She watched them over the listening to whatever the High Lady was now saying. Almost like they knew what she was thinking, and maybe they did some of his shadows had skittered across the floor towards her moving up her dress and through her hair. She almost giggled at the sensation but then she had looked up. Her heart stopped.
Her eyes were now locked with the Shadowsingers' and she felt the the bond snap.
Mate.
The Spymaster of the Night Court was her mate. She could feel her heart in her throat. Y/n felt shock, confusion and something else something deeper beneath the surface. It was so intense.
And oh gods was that his emotions she was feeling too?
She wanted to scream, but she wouldn't, not here. Instead she downed the rest of her wine set it on the glass and promptly ran away.
Uhh stay tuned for part 2 I guess?

Neteyam x Human Reader
Request: „Neteyam having a wet dream about reader‟
A/N: Idea sent by anon. I tried to create a bit more than the request itself said. I hope you will like the story and enjoy reading it.
English is not my native language, so mistakes can happen. The work contains smut, minors do not interact.
*Characters are aged up.
Tumblr media
She moved so sweetly. Moaning and whimpering right into his mouth, which brushed against each other but did not connect, driving him crazy. His hands tightened on her hips, trying to pull her closer, but she didn't budge, stubbornly gliding up and down his manhood.
-My Teyam - she barely managed to choke out, her eyes glazed with tears, her hair scattered over her body, sticking to her in some places through the sweat on her skin - So good, oh so good.
His golden irises couldn't tear themselves away from her face contorted in a mimic of pleasure, even though such an unholy sight was within reach of his hand, all he had to do was look down at the place where they were joined to see the bulge that grew larger with every time the tip of his member reached her cervix.
But he kept his eyes up, something in the girl's expression was even more sinful, even better. The way she looked at him, the way she opened her mouth to make such sweet sounds, the way her cheeks flushed intensely, the way her skin glowed giving her a godly charm.
-My beautiful angel, you're doing so well - he praised her, cupping her left cheek with his big hand - So perfect for me.
-For you - she repeated, pushing her ample breasts forward so that they pressed into his chest, giving both the feeling of being even closer - I do this only for you, my Teyam, because I am yours.
Yours to take.
Yours to love.
Yours to dream about.
Suddenly his eyes opened, and the feeling of intimate warmth was replaced by a cold realization that slowly melted into his mind.
Neteyam wiped his face with his hand, scolding himself silently. It was just a dream. An unreal, sinful, passionate dream about her.
His beautiful angel.
She couldn't be anything else. When his father explained the meaning of the word to him, he knew it was describing Y/n because only she had recreated that immaculate description. And like an angel, she was too good for him, too beautiful to look at and too tempting to resist.
The young man couldn't forget her, not when she haunted his mind all the time and not when his eyes could see her so often.
He tried to be secretive but he knew he had fallen long ago, he also tried to be tough but one inviting glance from her beautiful eyes was enough to make him follow her, he tried to be relentless but the touch of her hand on his cheekbone broke him.
-Is something bothering you? - girl asked, walking next to him, their hands rubbing against each other from time to time, spreading electrifying shivers on Neteyam's body.
-I...-he started, but stopped, thinking hard about the answer - Yes - he replied, sighing, and when his eyes met those of Y/n he continued - For a long time.
She frowned in concern, looking at him more closely, after a moment hesitantly intertwining their fingers with each other. Difference in their size was significant, the na'vi's blue hand almost engulfing the one belonging to the human beside him.
-Do you want to tell me? - she asked more quietly, still not taking her eyes off him.
Boy thought for a long time. Walking across the empty beach, the only witness was the moon.
-I'm in love with a woman I can't have - he confessed, trying to hide the bitterness in his voice, failing instantly.
Y/n, unknowingly, stopped at these words, but she came to her senses quickly, putting on a serious expression on her face.
-You should tell her - she admitted honestly - We are adults, Neteyam. We can't hide our feelings, we have to face them.
Yes they were adults. Yet they still had young hearts, so fragile and so vulnerable ,so easy to break.
-I don't think you understand how much I love her - he said, as if the girl knew who he was talking about -If hiding my feelings gives me the assurance that she'll be there beside me, then I'd rather keep my mouth shut and never open them again.
-You'll only hurt yourself more than you hurt yourself now - she said in a soft voice - When you love someone, don't wait because you might lose them forever. And only regret will remain.
Neteyam stared at her intensely. His gaze pierced not only her body, but also her soul. She wasn't sure what to do, so she waited patiently, watching his actions as suddenly the whole world was plunged into darkness and nothing else mattered except the person in front of them.
As his hand moved slowly towards her, finally finding its place on her cheek, she didn't stop him. When her body was pulled closer to his torso, she let him. When his warm lips met hers in a gentle and sensual kiss, she melted.
With every minute that passed, Neteyam dreams became reality. Their dance from seemingly innocent and sweet turned into a full repertoire of heat and lust as their hands roamed both bodies, trying to memorize every shape or birthmark with their fingertips.
-You taste so sweet Y/n - he whispered into her mouth, his big hands rubbing her thighs.
-Teyam - she whimpered as he pulled away from her swollen lips, marking her neck with wet kisses.
Soon the boy knelt in front of her, but he still had to bend down to have convenient access to the girl's chest, which was hidden behind the nets forming her upper clothes. His fingers involuntarily glided over her round, firm breasts, agonizingly slowly tucking the bright material up, revealing one of her private parts.
Her nipples stiffened against the cool air, and a gasp accidentally fell out of Y/n's mouth. When Neteyam looked up, he met the girl's face ,who was watching his actions as if in a trance.
-How does it feel? - he asked close to her ear, pressing down on her ample breasts, his thumbs rubbing a pair of nipples.
-Pleasant, so very pleasant - she replied, closing her eyes, surrendering to the feeling.
-And now? - he asked again, after a moment kissing her chest, unable to stop himself from sucking on her soft skin where large red marks began to appear.
-Addictive - she confessed timidly, looking at the dark sky from under her half-open eyelids.
Neteyam merely grunted in delight, placing his hands on her spine, carefully pushing her backwards. Y/n settled down on the sand beneath her without protest, too curious to see what would happen next.
His lips didn't leave hers even for a moment, worshiping her little body that trembled with excitement and desire.
He took his time, exploring every inch of her body with his tongue. Her belly, her navel, her hips, her thighs, her knees, her calves, her ankles. Nothing has been missed.
-Will you let me? - he asked, his fingers gliding along her inner thighs, feeling how wet and warm they were.
-Of course, Teyam - she whispered, running her fingers through his hair, carefully grabbing his braid so that he could feel at least a little of what she felt right now.
The boy moaned softly, pressing their foreheads together. He was so sensitive that even the slightest touch of her fingers on his kuru sent shivers down his spine.
-No - he said suddenly, and Y/n looked at him with questioning eyes - Tonight, I want to worship you my Y/n, nothing more. It's only you that counts - he added, looking at her with his golden eyes, from which adoration poured out.
Young woman, smiling tenderly, kissed him one last time before getting comfortable, spreading her legs for Neteyam, who followed her movements. His hands massaging the skin on her ribs.
-I'm yours my Teyam. Do whatever you want with me - she said softly, and he almost got a whiplash.
Those words. He felt like he was dreaming again, but the warm skin under his fingers, the sand under his feet and the girl's rapid breaths made him realize that everything was real.
The dark-haired na'vi lay on his stomach, placing Y/n's legs on his broad shoulders. His lips pressed against her swollen womanhood, which was dripping with juices, twitching and begging to be taken care of.
Her body arched as he began to feast between her legs, ravenous, devouring everything her flower of femininity was giving him. She writhed under him, moaning and whimpering alternately, unable to stop herself. And when Neteyam slowly inserted two of his fingers inside her , filling her up to the brim, the girl couldn't stand it, screaming in ecstasy that took over her body.
Feeling the walls of Y/n tighten on his fingers, making him barely able to move them, he sped up, wanting to hear once again the beautiful sounds that were directed only to him, his tongue not even for a moment detached from her folds, riding lazily up and down, occasionally entwining around her clitoris.
And then he felt her sweet nectar, sweeter than anything else he had eaten or drank.
He felt enslaved, but he didn't care. As long as he could feast between her thighs, listening to her sweet moans and whimpers he didn’t care.
Because his sinful dream became an even more sinful reality.

Thoughts on parallels between the scene where Phineas beats Sherman and where Imelda tortures weepe?
Jonas Spahr is there, and he's also not having a good day. 😔
So, I initially meant that as a joke about how I'm a huge fan of Jonas and will obnoxiously take any opportunity to talk about him. I do think there are many parallels and resonances between these scenes, and there is much to say about the four characters named and the central action of nearly killing someone for the sake of the Trust, but those angles are more obvious and more likely to be recognized by most. (And I'm willing to talk about some of those as well, if asked again. Or, if there's a specific aspect you'd like to hear about, let me know.)
In terms of my interests, it IS a pretty interesting point to be made: Jonas Spahr is there, watching. It's integral to both scenes that Spahr is a witness; he's even the ONLY witness in the Arca. His role as such is also explicitly recognized by the active character in each scene:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Since this is about the cabaret and Arca scenes specifically, I won't spin off into an entire commentary and analysis of Spahr's role as an observer and witness. For now, we'll have to content ourselves with the short version just for context, but I can go into it at a later time.
The heart of it is: thus far, his role in the narrative is a generally passive one that largely centers on watching and observing. It's the first thing he does as a player in this story. He steps back and watches how Phineas handles the Ginsberg situation, and the narrators remind us four separate times in 1.03: Mica:
Tumblr media
Deeds of Valor—and Caenum, apparently—need to be witnessed, after all! Thing is, Spahr does a lot of watching but, until more recently, doesn't really SEE all that often. He is for a long time a passive, immovable, unreadable observer to events as the eyes of the Trust. He is that witness for much of events he's involved in, for better or (more likely) worse.
After Phineas attacks Sherman, Spahr himself is quick to identify this problem with himself in 2.02: Ascendancy, that he is watching and looking but he is, perhaps intentionally, not seeing and noticing:
Tumblr media
The incident in the cabaret and the incident in the Arca are directly connected and bound together by Spahr as witness. Phineas attacking Sherman and Imelda torturing Weepe are moments that Spahr is truly seeing, bearing witness to events and comprehending them, their context, and their implications.
In both, he bears witness specifically to the damage that the Trust causes and the ways that it harms people inside and outside of it. Phineas and Imelda believe that Spahr will witness something else—Phineas hopes that Spahr will not be witnessing a failure where Imelda hopes that Spahr will be witnessing one—but what he is seeing instead is the raw brutality that the Trust and its systems and pressures naturally engender at their logical extremes. He immediately recognizes it to be a horror:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Spahr experiences a dread born of comprehension typically reserved for moments of understanding in eldritch horror. Sucks to be the guy whose role is to see things and you end up actually comprehending some of them! And comprehend them in these two scenes he does.
Spahr doesn't do a ton in terms of active action in either scene—the cabaret scene is notably set off by his mere presence, and he ultimately freezes in the Arca scene—but in each, he does ultimately move to attempt to stop what is happening. And, notably, he does so under his own power and motivation.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That said, he fails to prevent a significant amount of the damage. He moves fast enough to prevent Phineas from killing Sherman, but too late to prevent the harm done to Sherman and all the spiraling consequences of this. He is frozen into a paralysis by Imelda's threat, so he fails to follow through and stop her, stop the harm done to Weepe, and again stop the spiraling consequences from this.
Twice, once in each scene, he fails to meaningfully prevent the harm done here. He attempts to stop them when he is standing here in the room with them, but by then it's too late. ("Too little, too late," as Sherman will eventually say.)
Obviously, Spahr is not the sole bearer of responsibility in either incident. Phineas and Imelda have an immense amount to answer for there, and the system of the Trust itself created the conditions that one way or another pushes them and Spahr to do as they do. However, both are incidents that he in some way has allowed. He reflects on having not seen, or even ignored, the signs of what was brewing inside Phineas and what he was being pushed toward; he helps engineer this intervention and stands by while Imelda locks Weepe in the Arca, never asking enough questions.
He has allowed both to happen. When he begins to feel the emotional aftermath of each, in 2.02: Ascendancy and 2.17: Compensation, the narration of his internal monologue even uses that wording:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They're both critical scenes to Spahr's development as someone whose role is largely passive, both within the Trust systems and within the narrative. Just as much as he is to be seen, he is also very much here to see—and to refuse to see. To stand by as a passive witness to horrors and allow them, silent and impassive and watching. He can try to intervene, but he's already facilitated this.
He is coming to understand his part in this, in brutalities such as these, with horror. In the aftermath of the Arca incident, we see him increasingly discontent with his role in the Trust and desperately in search of ways to stop what he can. He is not yet successful, but his vision is very much clarifying. His arc turns around these scenes as paralleled experiences for him in his narrative, as moments that he witnesses, allows, and fails to stop against even his own belated efforts. These two scenes bookend his growing comprehension and self-reflection throughout season two.
Twice now, it's been asked of him: What are you refusing to see, Jonas? What horrors and brutalities are you allowing to happen? Will you always be intervening much too late?
Third time's a charm, perhaps.

Just a few grapes
Pairing: Lady Lesso x reader
Genre: fluff
Words: 1000
Note: Reader has trouble eating, so even tho there's nothing explicit be aware of possible triggers. Thank you so much for the kind message and request, notes like these are what gives everything I do meaning. I hope I did your idea justice.
Tumblr media
You were what people would describe as sunshine. Everyone knew your peculiar ability to make your vicinity feel better. Your mere presence conjured smiles on people’s faces and your aura radiated peace and calm. Many would seek you out to help them forget about sad thoughts or just to make them feel a little happier. You were quite popular around the school for good. There was no doubt the universe prepared great things for you. Dean Dovey would often say you’re the definition of the greatest good, the white swan of innocence and purity.
Maybe the noble treatment was the reason why the real life took by such surprise. Graduating and claiming your own story was supposed to be something magical, yet you found yourself on a path of hardships and struggles. You weren’t treated like a godly princess anymore, people in the real world found you average, if not a bit annoying. Your fate dimmed your light of innocence and purity, making you experience all the doom of those who aren’t prepared.
When you returned to the school for good and evil, you weren’t the enchanted girl who left, full of silly hope and innocent imaginations. You were a woman carrying her own ills and scars. Yet your presence still calmed others and your smile made everyone’s day just the tiniest bit better. You were tested by the life, coming back wise and cannie. Who was once a naïve little girl came back as experienced sharp-witted woman.
Now years later you found yourself at the side of your girlfriend, mingling the dinning hall as others chatted the night away. It was a significant evening, celebrating the equinox as per an old tradition. Tables were full of the most remarkable food and drinks, successfully satisfying everyone’s taste. You’d find anything you could imagine, yet you didn’t feel like using the opportunity right now. You just couldn’t find the need within yourself. Everything looked boring and tasteless to you.
Leonora gave you a side eye seeing you just nibbling in your dinner, not really eating. She was used to all your routines and bad habits by now, having trouble eating properly being one of them. You couldn’t help it, it was just one of the things your brought back from your uneasy life in the outside world. She’d lie if she said she couldn’t understand it though, having worked through traumas and vices herself when she was younger.
You excused yourself from the table, having been counting seconds for the past couple minutes until it was formally okay to do so. You weren’t going to spend more hours sitting around pretending to enjoy the food and conversation for longer than absolutely necessary. Snuggling into bed you had no intention waiting awake for your girlfriend, but your rumbling stomach didn’t wanna let you fall into a peaceful slumber, so you just tossed and turned around in the sheets.
You were finally distracted by Lesso coming through the door, carefully assessing the situation in the room to not wake you up in case you’d be already sleeping. To your dismay you weren’t. She smiled at you as you sat up in the bed, knowing there’s no reason trying to fall asleep anymore. You didn’t like to sleep without her anyway, her arm was your favorite pillow and the beat of her heart your favorite lullaby.
“Hi, did I wake you up?” Lesso asked as she came into the room, gently sitting on her side of the bed.
“Nah, I couldn’t sleep,” you shook your head hair flying into you face.
“Good. I’ve brought you a little snack, in case you were hungry,” Leonora placed a plate on the bed, knowing you might eat something little.
“You didn’t have to…” you tried to dismiss it before even looking at the plate full of apples, bananas and grapes cut into little pieces and ridden of seeds so you can easily eat it. The thought and care behind it almost brought tears into your eyes. “Wow, thank you.”
“Don’t even mention it. You can take whatever you want if you want,” your girlfriend knew there’s no reason trying to force you to eat, it only made you shut down more. Giving the option while making it the most accessible was the way.
“How was your day?” you asked her to distract yourself, and just because you loved listening to her voice.
“Well, I had a few successful attempts in death traps today, Satan knows those kids might actually be of some good use. And Avery, remember the reader kid? She actually got her first magic trick, I bet she’ll be a real deal with her finger glow…” she went on about her day and anything she could think of that would be of any interest to you.
“Wasn’t she one of the Nevers you said had no business in your school?” you asked with a smile, stuffing your mouth with more grapes.
“Yea, but she was actually good this week. I mean bad… evil… you know what I mean,” you both laughed over it. “I think that with a little guidance, the right friends and a few nights in the doom room she could actually achieve something.”
“Well if anyone can make her a good evil it’s you,” you admitted cleaning the plate of a few last pieces. “Thanks for the fruit, it was actually good.”
“No problem love,” Leonora put the plate away, proud of your progress in eating. You still needed to be focused on something else, but you ate more easily.
Crawling into bed with you, she fluffed up the pillows and sheets to have a good warm cozy nest to sleep in. Laying down together you placed your ear over her heart being calmed by her even breath as she tucked you closer to her chest with her strong arms. To you the only nest you needed was her.
“Thank you for taking care of me,” you whispered before falling asleep.
“Always.”

Chapter 10
Hi! Its been a while! But I'm about to take a break from school so I'm finally allowed enough time for hobbies :) I hope you enjoy!
J'onn had not drawn from his experience as a school teacher in quite a while so when approaching this meeting he felt some semblance of reminiscence and slight rustiness.
"Have been informed that you are in need of guidance on your phasing abilities."
Jason looked at his old teacher pointedly.
"Yes, I don't do well with vague instructions."
"Hey!"
Danny was far too engrossed in tinkering with whatever gadgets he had found around the bat cave to really be insulted.
"Its not my fault you don't understand my weathered, ancient advice."
"'Try not to fall' is not good advice man!"
"Not if you're a genius like me!"
"You still haven't caught on that Alfred leaves old tech around the cave for you to find!"
"I-"
"..."
"..."
J'onn's face remained neutral as they bickered but those who truly knew him would be able to catch the slight tinge of amusement in his voice.
"May I resume?"
Jason straightened his posture at the question and turned his attention to Martian Manhunter.
"From what I have been able to observe your intangibility occurs involuntarily at random intervals throughout the day." J'onn began.
Jason cringed at the apt description before catching himself as he nearly phased through his seat.
"My intangibility differs because it is a voluntary process. My practice was initiation of the ability and subsequent control. Yours will be on cessation and then control."
Jason nodded along with this lesson.
"Sometimes involuntary use of powers has a subconscious aspect to them. If one truly believes in their own abilities it can become second nature to use them."
Jason's receptiveness receded a bit. Subconscious aspects?
"I know that there is a certain discomfort surrounding allowing another to peer into your mind in earthen cultures but it may be helpful to be able find the reason why you are struggling with control over your intangibility."
Jason did not like this idea. Introspection is already uncomfortable enough he did not want someone else to witness it. Jason was at his wits end though, and he couldn't stand this lack of control much longer. He was tired.
"Okay."
"Thank you for trusting me. I will try to remain as close to your surface thoughts as possible."
J'onn began to approach.
"Wait."
Jason looked into the eyes of the hero.
"Please don't tell anyone what you find."
J'onn nodded.
Jason gripped J'onn's wrist hard enough that his fingertips left pastel green imprints in his skin.
"Please don't tell Batman what you find."
J'onn paused and then assured him.
"Your thoughts will remain confidential I promise."
Jason truly did not like vulnerability. It very rarely ended well for him. But his life has changed so much in the past few weeks that maybe that streak of luck might have changed too? Maybe.
Jason let go.
So perhaps Dick had inherited some of his adoptive father's intense vigilance. Was there really a problem with that? He was better than his father. He communicated with others and allowed his teammates to participate in planning. He clued people in. His contingency plans were known of by his teammates so there was no drama, no betrayal. He learned from Bruce's mistakes. So when he saw a considerable increase in temperature in the cave he did so not because he was secretly monitoring the lesson out of worry but out of routine. He sprinted, very calmly mind you, to the nearest cave entrance. What he found was outside his expectations and expertise.
A Martian writhing on the floor in immense pain.
A Ghost boy looking rather sallow as he attempted to keep the room cool with his ice powers.
And his brother lying on one of the examination tables whilst ON FIRE!
FIRE?
FIRE!
At some point Dick heard a plea for help from the only conscious person in the room.
"I can't keep this up for much longer! I also can't wake up Mr. J'onzz!"
Dick's communications skills may have taken a significant blow but he was able to communicate everything that came to mind.
"WHAT HAPPENED?!"

john loves his kids more than anything, so i can think of a lot of strong contenders: when sam graduates and dean gets his GED, when they each kill their first monster, when sam runs off to college, when dean is born, etc. i do strongly believe john would celebrate the "normal" milestones as proudly as the hunting milestones (he did keep sam's soccer trophy after all), but let's see. i think the proudest moment in john's life as a father would likely be the first time dean actually saves sam's life
like during a hunt or something, where dean puts himself in the line of fire to keep sam safe, or in their motel room when dean kills an intruder so it doesn't get to sam, or any such case. infinite bonus points if john is there to witness it, if dean protected sam because john couldn't get to them in time, or if john failed to do the same.
because that's who john raised dean to be. he taught dean to put sam above everything else, to keep sam safe. and especially after the shtriga incident, that's something john would have doubts and concerns about—whether dean is willing to follow through, whether dean is capable of following through. so dean can prove himself this way, and because it's what john wanted dean to do, to become, it's significant.
it tells john that he was a good parent, that he raised dean right and that dean has learned the values he tried to instill in him. it also lets john trust him more thereon. it's an important milestone that deepens his relationship with his kids because he knows he can trust them, he knows that they're growing up and becoming independent, he knows that they'll turn out even better than he did, he knows they can take care of themselves (that dean can take care of sammy).
it's an emotional and proud thing when you can look at your kids and suddenly know with absolute, unwavering certainty that they're going to be all right. and in this line of work, i think that would encompass the whole breadth of that understanding. sam will be okay because dean will protect him, save him. dean will be okay because he can stand up for himself and do what needs to be done, no matter what. they won't need john forever, and john can trust that they'll be safe even without him there to protect him. because they can take care of themselves, and that's really all a parent ever wants for his kids.

What the hell is Ben thinking in NLMG? Part 5 (final hospital scenes)
Tumblr media
Wow, welcome to the final part of this ridiculously long (12,000 words in total!!!) meta series. If this is your first time tuning in, find part 1, part 2, part 3, and part 4.
So far we’ve seen Ben explore being with a man for the very first time; realize how much losing Chopper as a friend in the past hurt him; discover he has feelings for Chopper; confess those feelings to Chopper; and take an action to make up for his cowardice in the post-outing office scene.
This leaves us in his final arc which involves learning how to move past a lifetime of homophobic influence from his father. This arc does NOT conclude on screen, which likely helps contribute to feelings of his story being unfinished
I’m going to break from my previous structure here a bit. First I’m going to analyze their scenes straight through, as I’ve been doing all series. So I’m going to try to discuss purely what’s shown and why it’s being shown because I do think everything mostly has a reason. And then, only after I finish am I going to offer a major point of critique on how I genuinely feel the writing let them down, leading to this annoying perception I somehow see daily that Perth and Chimon “don’t have chemistry”.
Let’s get started:
Noticing this for the first time - as Nueng has a breakdown over Palm, Ben and Chopper share a wordless look and go to help him together. The seamless teamwork!
I’m having a lot of feelings about these lines from Ben. This is twice in this episode that he’s been cast in this role of being the steadying presence. He stays very calm and is good at these gentle commands. You can almost see him as a future music teacher (or, I would argue if music doesn’t work out he would make a good first responder).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also to all the “Ben shouldn’t be in this scene” haters I’m going to get a little sassy here. Yes, he should, and for two reasons: first, like Nueng, Chopper is kind of hysterical. For the first minute or so, Ben is the main one offering Nueng comfort, because Chopper is also grieving. They both need Ben here as an anchor. If you go back and watch, Ben touches and or verbally comforts Nueng much more than Chopper, and in a few cases Chopper seems to be mimicking what he is seeing Ben doing.
And second, if you want Ben to understand how his actions in the bathroom scene hurt Chopper, it is IMPERATIVE that he witnesses this conversation between Nueng and Chopper. Yes, Ben is shown kind of awkwardly off to the side, not participating. That is intentional. He is meant to be observing this. He is seeing Chopper sob hysterically over his dad with space where there is no pressure for him to respond. He is being given the chance to internalize how Chopper has been feeling.
There’s an interesting progression of Ben’s face in the background. First you can just barely see his guilty/contemplative expression and his hung head in the back here
Tumblr media
And then when Nueng says “it’s not easy to put your own dad in jail, you should be proud of yourself” is when Ben looks directly at Chopper. Ben is realizing he needs to say something like this to Chopper too.
Tumblr media
Then finally, personally I adore Ben’s little smile here. It is genuinely such a sweet moment happening between the cousins! And he’s happy on a purely selfless level to see Chopper getting this hug and affirmation from Nueng. The camera lingers on him a long time at this point, more than during his guilty expression period, but I think it’s because this is meant to serve as a kind of “oh” moment where Ben is really sitting with how he feels about Chopper. Look at the love on his face.
Tumblr media
@thirstkanaphan adds: Jojo is making the choice to emphasize Ben's reactions. We need the outsider perspective to understand the significance of this moment - the two cousins, never allowed to be close, finally seeking and receiving comfort in each other that they deserved to have all along. Ben's little smile reminds us that this moment is painful but things will get better!
And then they do then make a point of having Ben look away to give them some privacy before it gets too voyeuristic
If you have been reading this series along the way, I hope you are proud of me for making it this long before saying PERTH’S ACTING IN THIS SCENE!! how pale and small and fragile he looks!! His desperation! It’s so good.
Ben is much quieter than Nueng and Chopper in this scene, so he gets a little lost, but he’s not just a third wheel. His presence serves a purpose. And then we get to what is in many ways the scene of my Chopper loving heart. Rewatch pays off here because I do think it is important to note that Chopper is actively crying. A big tear falls from his eyes while he sits quietly and then you see him scrub his eyes as Ben approaches.
I think Chimon plays it really well that Ben is very tired and very worried about Chopper and that he has to work a little harder than usual to find a smile to try and comfort him. Here we get the payoff of Ben being present earlier. First he tries reminding Chopper of what Nueng said to him ("Nueng said it’s not your fault").
Then, he realizes he needs to add on to that. Look how introspective he is as he says this line, which Chopper so badly needs to hear.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
@thirstkanaphan adds: I wonder if he's admitting that part of his justification for not reciprocating Chopper's feelings earlier was because of this anger, which was childish and misplaced, and clearly allowed Ben to avoid facing his own feelings of guilt for not stopping HIS OWN DAD for the harm he inflicted via his homophobia. THINKING THOUGHTS OVER HERE. By absolving Chopper of the guilt he feels, he can start to do the same for himself.
I LOVE this shot of Chopper’s slow turn to look at him with his tear streaked cheeks.
Tumblr media
Ben touched Nueng in a somewhat similar way, but it was very much depicted as a bro touch. This feels very intimate. Look how it’s shot almost as if he’s touching Chopper’s face – his hand is both more firmly on Chopper’s shoulder and Chopper is instinctively turning into the comfort of the touch.
Plus we get the line at the very top of this essay: I’M PROUD OF YOU. Ben is like a little robot learning to be a human. He is quoting something he heard Nueng say that he wanted to say. And Chopper briefly SMILES. After so much heartbreak, Ben coaxes a moment of happiness out of him.
I’m going to skip over the revelation that they were texting because the texts make ZERO sense in the context of the plot and I previously discussed them in part four of this series.
This kind of breaks my heart. Chopper then adds “At first I thought you wouldn’t come”. And he starts crying again.
Ben kind of screws up here at first. This is a little like when he was trying to ask Chopper if he still had feelings for him and he had to do so over multiple days and multiple different rewords. He says, “Why wouldn’t I come. I also did bad things to Nueng. This is a good chance to redeem my mistake”
This is like facepalm levels of Not The Right Thing to Say In This Moment. But it’s the easier thing to say. It’s so much less vulnerable. He’s also being a little jokey (his comfort zone) as he says it. He even does this goofy eyebrow raise thing.
It clearly does not help Chopper, who very quickly drops his head. Fortunately, Ben realizes very quickly he’s going to have to put himself out there:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Look how nervous he looks as he starts. This is TERRIFYING for him. But he winds up giving such a beautiful little speech
Tumblr media
A brilliant observation by @thirstkanaphan here: Ben also moves from the passive "this is a good chance to redeem my mistake" to the active "I want to stay by your side" and "I want you to know that you did the right thing." Ben is now able to clearly articulate his wants when it comes to Chopper. He may not be able to say "I want you to come to England with me," but this is such good progress for a character who has previously hidden behind half-truths, sarcasm, and passiveness when it comes to the people he cares about.
Tumblr media
I’m realizing as I write this that both the shoulder and leg touch are the first ones Ben has completely initiated. Every touch they’ve shared like this has played a key role in the progression of their relationship. These touches are significant. Ben is finally the one reaching out.
And Ben concludes with:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ALWAYS. ((I will be with you forever.)) This is a confession of love!! Said differently, ((I am never going to let you go!)) Look what they did there!
Ben looks very proud of himself after getting all that out. You can tell he thinks he did good. But Chopper is in a dark place and full of doubts. I think at this point he thinks he lost Ben’s romantic feelings for him by not acting sooner on his dad. Which means we get the return of the incredulous besotted bathroom look and Ben’s reminder (“Remember this. The feelings you have, mine are the same”):
Tumblr media
At first, I admit I too found their hug in this scene kind of goofy. But seeing how fragile Chopper is, and the fact that he’s been crying off and on for HOURS at this point, I think Ben is reading him perfectly. This isn’t the time for romance. This is the time for comfort and assurance.
You can see this is his thought process in his next line:
Tumblr media
His first priority is making sure Chopper is okay. In fact, this is the second time he’s asked Chopper how he’s doing in a matter of a few minutes.
I find their next interaction so incredibly charming. He has comforted Chopper to the point that Chopper can play along. Can say “no” for the sheer pretense of getting to cling to Ben longer.
I really love how equal this hug is too. They are holding on at the same height, with the same ferocity. And they keep escalating the tightness too. You get the sense that they are savoring finally really being together. <3 <3
Tumblr media
Next, Chopper and Ben come back to visit Palm. They’ve clearly left, showered, and returned. Chopper looks FINE in his silk shirt and GLOWING. There is a nice follow through here that Ben is with him (he is by Chopper’s side where he promised to be!!)
Ben jumps in at this moment where Chopper is clearly a little shy/uncertain:
Tumblr media
The suggestion that he and Nueng are now just bros who chat is a fun one. Ben says a few more things that I won’t overanalyze but they are encouraging and optimistic - very in line with his personality. This is a distinct contrast to Chopper’s earnest apology that follows
I’m obsessed with this wordless moment where Chopper looks to Ben as if for encouragement before having to press Palm a bit on letting him pay for medical expenses:
Tumblr media
Ahhh and they do it again after Palm agrees too (that’s three times for those who are counting that they’ve had a wordless conversation in episode 12). All these wordless looks really demonstrate the strong foundation of past friendship they have that is now translating to a deeper level of intimacy
Then, outside the room, they have this very silly back and forth where it is clear Ben’s brain went to sex (hmmm Ben, does this have anything to do with your hot new boyfriend?). It’s super coupley though - they tune Nueng out for several seconds and make each other devolve into little giggles at the end
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then we get this reveal from Ben:
Tumblr media
To which Chopper very blithely says he’s going too. And when Nueng asks if they are going together, they disagree  — Ben says no. Both Chopper and Nueng (and the audience) are clearly like “what the heck??” But I think it’s important how Ben immediately gets very shy — look at his ducked head and the way he won’t meet Chopper’s eyes.
Tumblr media
Although he is ostensibly saying this to Nueng, this is fishing directed at Chopper — he wants, maybe needs, to hear Chopper tell someone else this. He wants it to be REAL.
I like Chopper’s reaction which reads more teasing than offended
Tumblr media
And here is what Ben says: YES he is the one who asked
Tumblr media
I’m going to read “not serious” as “joking”. Ben has shown a few different times over the series that he makes a joke of things he wants but is scared to sincerely admit
Tumblr media
And I’m going to read vulnerability in this line. This is a big ask, (‘will you move to a foreign country with me?’) I think it is something he very badly wanted but didn’t think Chopper would agree to
And Chopper immediately dismisses this. “Of course I would go with you”
Look at their smiles then after they resolve this — they are beaming:
Tumblr media
Sure, Ben, “that’s (just) fine” with you — you’re so cool, calm, and collected with your giddy face.
After, a delightfully smug, confident Chopper takes Ben’s hand. He can read his man. He knows exactly what just played out.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The show makes a point to show Ben’s head jerk down in shock. BUT, he doesn’t pull his hand away. And they are shown with their hands intertwined for several seconds after. In fact, they do this cheesy swinging thing (see this gifset) between them, even.
Taken at quick watch, the “no” and the head jerk read as Ben not being that into Chopper (as his scenes often do, unfortunately). However, I think what NLMG is trying to show is that Ben is still scared and a little overwhelmed by this very new relationship. They are demonstrating that the lingering trauma of how his dad raised him and what happened after he kissed Nueng will stick with him for a long time. It’s actually really good he has a partner as loving and patient and understanding as Chopper while he works through everything. However the ending is meant to emphatically show that they are a team who WILL get through it (all the shared looks! The private jokes! Walking away from Nueng hand in hand!).
Having done this analysis, even working purely off the source material I leave feeling optimistic for their future
((I do love @gaiaxygang’s added content from the novel that they one day talk about getting married!!! I see it!!))
All that said, however, here is my primary frustration: they needed to kiss. Period.
Ben kissed someone else ON SCREEN and didn’t kiss Chopper. That is a narrative imbalance. Ben should have been shown having a better, more intimate kiss with Chopper.
Also, NLMG very arguably positioned the ending so CHOPPER WAS THE REAL HERO OF THE STORY. He was so important to the plot in so many ways, and he doesn’t get to kiss the boy he’s been in love with since the 10th grade?? Insane.
If we’re going to talk about someone unnecessary being in a scene, why did they need to have that final scene with Nueng present? I don’t care that he’s the ‘main’ character — they could have shown Ben and Chopper at Chopper’s pool or in Chopper’s dad’s office where they could have had the future talk about going to London together in an intimate setting. It could have even played out similar to what we heard. For example –
Ben: says he’s going
Chopper: maybe a little surprised and hurt (Ben is leaving me already??)
Ben: joking but in a way where he clearly wants it “you could come with me”
Chopper: immediately lights up and agrees
Ben: “I was joking” (but clearly pleased)
Chopper: “of course I’m coming with you”
Ben: (fake protest) “it’s a big move”
Chopper: (something ridiculously sappy)
Ben: (blushing, ducking his head) “okay. that’s fine. if you want to.”
Then Chopper takes him by the face and kisses him!! Or better yet, Ben sees Chopper’s happy smile and kisses him!
They had such an angsty plotline and a simple shift to create a sappier, more romantic end scene would have wrapped it up so nicely and made it feel more balanced!!
So thousands and thousands of words in, here’s my number one take away: Ben is a much more multifaceted character than he appears on the surface and he goes through a surprisingly complex series of arcs for a secondary character.
I think there are two main reasons people then struggle with ChopperBen: 1. They weren’t given a romantic ending that matched their other angsty moments in emotional payoff; and 2. If you watch Ben only paying attention to his surface presentation, it’s easier to believe than it should be that he doesn’t care about Chopper (especially since he liked someone else ‘first’). In most shows, you don’t have to work so hard to understand a B plot character. And that’s exacerbated further because his love interest is given a borderline A plot storyline!!
If you felt frustrated by Ben when you first saw NLMG, I encourage you to rewatch some of their key scenes and pay attention both to Chimon’s non verbal cues and the things Ben says when he is “joking”. I hope you’ll notice something new and love him a little more.
Most importantly, I think GMMTV left themselves a rich set of characters with very much unresolved issues that could easily be picked back up and explored further in a sequel. pleeeease, BL gods, please.

I wanted to make bios for Wyneer's masks WEEKS ago to formally introduce them but I've had no time. So, here's the ref sheets I've been using for Art Fight for all of the masks who have portrait art so far.
I hope this helps people who hadn't been introduced them yet understand them a bit better! (And if it doesn't - ask me about them!)
Don't think about Wyneer's masks as alternate personalities. Think of them more as his OCs that he spontaneously manifested into existence via his masks.
I'll talk about each one a little more under the cut.
Fright is the first mask Wyneer made, and acts appropriately scuffed. Constantly throttled by adrenaline, he spends his time having non-stop panic attacks and sobbing his way through awkward social interactions. He chills out when Enlightened... but not by very much. He often wonders if Wyneer made him poorly as a joke.
Lay is just a normal hardworking guy from the South, which begs the question of how he got here, or why he can't remember his name or where he comes from, or what happened to him that he's like this. His stoic and workaholic nature belies an anxious mind that is desperately trying to remember itself... or wonder if there's truly anything to remember at all.
Brave is a tactician who hails from a distant time. Though he looks fierce, he is affable towards fellow Survivors and is very easy to impress. While he is intelligent, there are some things that elude his archiac understanding of the world. He rarely talks, but his speech tends to be poetic when he does. The markings Wyneer drew on his mask bear little significance to him personally.
Boutey was designed to be a leader, and accomplishes it via manipulation. Though he puts on a front of ditzy, cutesy helplessness, he is extremely intelligent and narcissistic. He believes all people are as 'fake' as he is and rarely trusts others. If he becomes fond of an intensely trusting person, he can sometimes become protective of them, fearing others will take advantage of them.
Crimson is loud, dim-witted, obnoxious, and incredibly vain... but loves with his whole heart and is unfailingly supportive to his friends. He is good to vent to if you need metaphorical advice that doesn't make a whole lot of sense. His pyrokinetic powers are tied to his emotions, so Wyneer made him mostly unable to feel anger; something that privately leaves Crimson weirded out.
Azure routinely sets himself on fire to keep others warm. He worries extensively about the wellbeing of those around him, and despises people who are bullies. He tends to bottle up his emotions and lash out when pushed to his limit. He speaks with a Minnesotan accent, but does not remember where he comes from. He considers the other gem masks to be his family and is often apologising for their behaviour.
Blake is lost in his own little world. The arrangement of gems on his mask has caused him to become attuned to an incomprensible garble of otherworldly noise that he claims is the voice of his gods. He is rarely emotive (when not jubilliant), fears nothing, has no grasp of personal space, and often speaks in complete nonsense with the impassioned maner of a preacher. He cares for no one but Wyneer - whom he refers to as his 'host.' He has an uncomfortably clingy fascination with people who work with shadow or lunar magic. Whoever Blake was when Wyneer first made him has been gone for a very long time.
Saffron's mask was created by Blake during an attempt at refining Wyneer's designs. Saffron's magical abilities are more refined, but his body suffers heavily as a result. He is constantly charged with magic from his gems and is extremely irritable and restless if not worn out. He cares strongly about his self-image and will not allow himself to fail, and is similarly critical of others. He is kind towards younger or more anxious Survivors however, and has a playful side - especially when 'playfully' antagonising his friends... He and Blake do not get along. Not that Blake cares about him to begin with.

in defense of carter hall (hawkman) part 1
important post i'm making on carter hall because i didn't expect to like this insanely problematic mentally insane man as much as i do now. but after digging through interviews with geoff johns, i have a good picture on what he was achieving with carter.
let's start off with the circumstances surrounding carter's death. in the 90s, there was an event called zero hour. katar hol had merged with carter hall, shiera hall, and a hawk god. here is the death of shiera & carter's commentary:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
katar ends up dying at the end of hawkman (1993) as he becomes mentally unstable due to the merge and he's forced into limbo. this leads into jsa (1999) where carter is revived.
now before i continue, here's geoff johns saying he intended for carter to come off as 'bipolar', while the meaning itself is questionable when used here, i think anyone with a brain could easily tell that carter was clearly supposed to come off as not being mentally well at all. even in hawkman (2002), kendra begs for carter to go back to 'normal' to which carter tells her 'this is normal'.
Tumblr media
here's another panel that was written by geoff johns, where he compares himself to jean loring. if you know who jean loring is & what her mental conditions were (to the point where she got locked up in arkham asylum in a very bad storyline), you would understand why this is significant for carter. he's admitting that he too is not mentally well.
Tumblr media
carter is revived and it's canon that he feels shiera's soul (obviously referring to kendra since she is a reincarnation of her).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
it's this panel that particularly makes a lot of people angry. and why? because it's realistic. carter has just been revived from the dead after witnessing his wife, shiera, die in front of his eyes. kendra just found out about her being apart of the reincarnation cycle & her suicide attempt. kendra is YOUNG. it's even retconned now that she's actually been apart of the reincarnation since birth in the current hawkgirl run. meaning she won't be the same age as carter regardless BECAUSE shiera died and she's the one who's usually the same age as carter. she's not going to accept this, and he's clearly going delusional, which lets be serious.... you're lying if you're telling me you wouldn't do the same in his exact situation.
Tumblr media
honestly, it's just really a bizarre panel to be mad at because at that point, you just want your comics to be fluffy watered down domestic fanfics with no real or interesting emotions. this takes place immediately after he's revived, so he clearly won't be well in this stage at all. it gets taken so out of context because people lack basic media literacy & look for the most problematic thing while ignoring the problematic moments their favs have too. and it's also one of my biggest cons with hawkman 2018 because while i love it lore wise.... he doesn't really have much personality.
anyways, here's kendra admitting that she does find carter attractive but she needs space. now again... the context is that kendra found out the true circumstances regarding her reincarnation of shiera. JUST found out. of course she'd want space which again, gets brushed over a lot. kendra doesn't know who she is. what she's feeling is normal. also carter's way older than her like lmao (now if i were to bring up problematic age gaps in comics, we'd be here all day so don't bother)
Tumblr media
another thing to say is that the 'stalker' thing only happened in ONE issue. ONE comic issue. it wasn't an arc and wildcat was even encouraging him to 'chase' kendra. the only specific parts that were an 'arc' were carter seeing kendra kissing sandy and the aftermath of that which again... jealousy is a totally realistic emotion. but it's been taken so out of context due to the dcau making it way worse & completely erasing the actual context that you'd think him being a stalker would be the entire crux of his character or something. in this exact issue, carter says that what he's doing is WRONG and he needs to accept her for who she is.

Thoughts on why adaptations rarely depict the source material ft. Dracula Daily
Now as we come to the finish line of Dracula Daily, there are many thoughts stirring in my head about it. I feel the strongest is how much of the actual story has been lost through adaptations.
Now, I have always known this, Frankenstein taught me well about the disconnect. But being a fan of urban horror makes vampires and therefore Dracula a much closer thing for me.
The biggest change you often see in adaptations is treating Dracula as Lucy's and Mina's saviour. He comes to take them from their stifling Victorian lives and gives them agency through vampirism. After all, those stuffy Victorians would never understand the sexuality of a woman!
Yet, reading the original novel, that is almost the opposite of what happens. Both Lucy and Mina are happy in their lives. Not in a 'they don't know any better' -way but actually and honestly happy. They have significant others who love them and would move mountains for them. Though they might be socially restricted by the society they live in and Mina honestly would do better in more open times, neither woman is trapped in their life.
We all know Dracula is a metaphor for an evil foreigner trying to corrupt good British women. Yet in adaptations trying to downplay this, the actual happiness of the women is ignored in favour of making Dracula the rescuing man.
In general, adaptations tend to vilify the protagonists in order to make Dracula look better.
One of the common methods is combining Jonathan and Renfield into one character. This conviniently removes Jonathan as a competitor for Mina's love and naturally continues the mindset that mentally ill people are lesser. In these adaptations, Jonathan's big rebellion is Renfield's big rebellion. A brave but in the end futile effort to stop Dracula.
This of course also means Renfield as a mentally ill yet very much intelligent person is completely removed.
Adaptations also tend to make the Suitor Squad into much more competent and hardened vampire hunters. Van Helsing is not someone who feels great regret over killing the brides, but a cold and ruthless vampire hunter. Quincy and Arthur often are omitted and Seward's age fluctuates a lot.
In short, what makes the heart of the novel is removed. The love the heroes have for each other is twisted and removed in favour of showing how backward the Victorians were.
To me, especially after reading through the novel through Dracula Daily, the sheer amount of care the heroes had for each other makes the story. Even when the men are idiotically removing Mina from important meetings, it backfires on them. Mina, despite her own self-doubts, is one of the most valued members of the group. She collected all the information together, she used something traumatic to get back at her abuser and even when she was almost turned, could still use her wits to help her team.
Mina is the MVP of the team and making her only important through her love of Dracula or even being the reincarnation of his wife removes so much of her badassery. Mina as a character does not need Dracula to be a strong character, she is strong -despite- him.

Hello! all good?
English is not my native language, so I apologize in advance.
I've been following the acotar fandom for the past two years. I had just finished reading acofas when acosf was announced (I didn't use social media).
I didn't think E/riel was a couple like Nessian, it was already clear to me, I always felt that something was missing from them.
I came to like the idea of Elucien, when I read acofas all my hopes were gone until the arrival of acosf.
I've read all of SJM's books, and I've come to the conclusion that forbidden (hidden) romances aren't right and the author doesn't like to work, as well as a love triangle.
(SPOILER from SJM books)
I find it curious that as e/riel is so sure that Elucien won't happen because the bond will be refused. SJM has not placed any conversations between Elucien that are significant other than what they retain.
Ruhn and Hypaxia met and there was even a flirtation, they were promised, but we saw the side of the two (pov).
Celastina married an angel. SJM said on the page that they didn't work out, but they got married and had interactions.
Bryce and Cormac get along well, are in love with each other and were VERY CLEARLY uninterested in each other through their pov and interaction.
Now Elucien hasn't even had 1% of anything similar other than a conversation they actually saw each other for the first time and other quick interactions with others around.
Elucien NEVER had the space and their pov to know what actually happened. Lucien looked anxious for Elain. She took that step. She smiled and asked if he was okay.
What a surprise it would be if she turned down a bond she NEVER sat down and talked with Lucien. If she had had moments alone getting to know each other I would understand.
SJM keeps the two away, which to me is a good sign. And to you?
Hello there!!
I agree with you that it seems very purposeful that we have never had the chance to witness a conversation between Elain and Lucien happening.
If two characters are not meant to work out then we as the reader need to understand WHY they aren't meant to work out because a mating bond isn't something that's to be carelessly tossed aside for no real reason.
As a fated mates author, you don't make two of your main characters mates (the most sacred of all unions), have them never interact then deny their bond on the sole grounds that they didn't ask for their bond.
In all of SJMs books, we are shown why two characters are not meant to be together. We witnessed why Tamlin and Feyre weren't right for one another. In the TOG series, it's clear why her FMC did not end up with certain love interests. We are told that the reason Rhys's parents bond didn't work was because the father was cold and vicious, something Lucien is not, while the mother was soft and fiery). So if we're to believe that fate chose poorly by making Elain and Lucien mates, it's not enough to say, "she just doesn't want a bond". Rhys also tells us mated pairs TRY to make it work because they believe they were given a gift and it's not until later that they realize it's sometimes a poor match.
Elain and Lucien to date have not tried and Elain has not yet let her guard down.
She doesn't want a bond because she lost her fiance. She doesn't want a bond because she had never met Lucien before that. She doesn't want a bond because she's been through traumatic experiences and therefore can't even fathom dealing with what it means to have a life long attachment to another.
But those things can change once she heals. And the only way it's going to be believable that she and Lucien aren't meant to be together is if we see they are a poor match and to date, we have never been given that opportunity.
If SJM truly plans on Elucien being the rejected bond then why hasn't she had them interact to demonstrate how they are very different people and don't connect on the important levels? As an author, it would be extremely easy to do and she could have started building her case at any point since ACOWAR. It would make their rejection of their bond more believable if it were to happen in their book.
Instead, we have Elain refusing to actually get to know Lucien therefore she doesn't actually know who it is she's currently "rejecting". We have Lucien giving Elain time and space to explore her new world and new body though he has remained faithful to her. We have him being nothing but understanding and never lashing out even when she pushes him away. We have the author continually dropping hints as to their compatibility (same sense of humor, dislike of violence, neither is aggressive or argumentative, both love nature, she craves the sun and he's the heir to Day).
If Elucien's are supposed to believe that Elain and Lucien aren't absolutely perfect for one another than why exactly has the author done nothing to convince us of this other than having Elain avoid him (something that ever single Archeron has done with their mate before accepting their bonds)?

One thing that fascinates me is that now we have confirmation that Eddie doesn't remember 90% of the shooting. For me personally, it actually fills in a lot of Eddie's journey from waking up to the S5 panic attacks. Whether they actually address any of this when they go, Canon honestly won't change my mind, though. Because now it makes total sense, Eddie was already having conflicted thoughts in treasure hunt the Carla follow your heart moment, and he had feelings after being shot we saw in real time. Reaching for Buck, worried for Buck. Also makes sense Buck probably down played alot of how it went down, because well that's Buck you know. And none of the 118 were there to witness and retell it to Eddie.
So yeah, he probably woke up with tinges of feelings and not understanding remotely exactly what they were. Tried to fake it to male it with his girlfriend, but his subconscious never let him. Explains the beginning of the panic attack with the Buck look alike also.
I don't know how they will go Canon but if we never get a Buck again episode I hope we get one really long ass conversation between the 2. They do intense conversations so well and Ryan and Oliver don't get to do it enough. Just like after an intense moment and feelings realization to have them be filling in each other's blanks would make me incredibly happy. I know we have got to see them through this journey but I would love some POV moments you know????
Hi Nonnie! Thank you for sharing your thoughts! Regarding the possibility that Eddie doesn't remember the shooting, exactly as he said, I agree that it's a very real possibility, as I explained in this ask reply. I don't write off the possibility Eddie remembers but isn't admitting it, but yeah, I currently tend to think he doesn't.
As for Buddie having intense conversations, you know that I am here for every bit of Buddie crumbs we can get, let alone the small feasts that are their talks. I do know what you mean! I feel you! Though I think it's always good for us to be realistic. This show will always have them fill each other on some things off screen. It has always been like that, always will be. And as much as we may wish (if we're Buddie shippers) to have more of their talks, they probably have more regularly featured talks than any other non-romantic (canonically) pairing. I haven't checked this statistically, but that's the impression that 911 leaves me with, that both in quantity and quality, what Buck and Eddie have in terms of significant talks far surpasses any other (not canonically romantic) combo you can think of on the show.
That said, the filling each other in on significant things off screen actually makes Buddie more like the romantic couples. Because allowing us to simply assume they tell each other everything, even the stuff we don't see them talking about, and then hinting to us that they did, that's exactly how shows often treat their romantic couples. So any moment like that, where it's implied they share even the stuff we don't see them talking about (think Buck blurting out info about Eddie's love life with Ana during the call in 312) reminds us they're each other's life partners, not just work partners.
Thank you for the ask! I hope this helped. As always, here's my ask tag. xoxox

Lennox’s Ambiguous Loyalties
I CAN’T GET THIS OUT OF MY HEAD so here’s a post about it! (Special thanks to the Hamlet Discord Server folks for sticking with me on this one!)
WHAT THE HELL IS LENNOX’S DEAL IN MACBETH?!
I remember vividly that the first time I read this play, one of our study questions was “what do Ross and Lennox respectively represent as characters?” and that it was the only question I couldn’t quite answer.
Ross seems fairly easy to understand. He’s sort of a Horatio-figure, a “narrator” in a play that isn’t his (to a lesser extent than Horatio, of course. No one beats Horatio in that regard.) He witnesses most of the play’s major events and comments on them (and it makes him fascinating as well as really sad). His loyalties seem to lie clearly on the side of goodness and justice. He’s relatively quick to turn on Macbeth once he realizes that he is guilty and seems to spearhead the rebel cause.
Lennox is an enigma in comparison! It’s entirely unclear where his loyalties lie and what his motives are. Most people (including my English teacher who wrote that study question) seem to view him as a foil to Ross—someone who stays loyal to Macbeth rather than rebelling, but I think it’s much more complex than that.
The only way I can think to explain this is to go through his appearances in order and try to glean what exactly his deal is and where his loyalties lie throughout the play.
1. Act 1 Scene 2
Lennox appears to announce Ross’ arrival. He notes the Ross looks in haste (which he probably does. When is he not in haste to deliver news to someone?)
This is his only line in the scene and it doesn’t tell us much about him. All we get from this is that he seems interested in whatever it is Ross has to say.
(2. Act 1 Scene 4)
Lennox doesn’t even speak in this scene, but his presence means that he overhears Malcolm’s haunting description of the execution of Cawdor (BUT GIVEN HIS LATER ACTIONS, IT MUST NOT STICK WITH HIM? He becomes a traitor in MULTIPLE DIRECTIONS!)
(3. Act 1 Scene 6)
Again, he says nothing but is among the party arriving at Inverness with Duncan.
4. Act 2 Scene 3
This is the first of Lennox’s significant appearances. He’s with Macduff when they’re harassed by the Porter but says nothing to him. His first line in this scene is in greeting to Macbeth. He proceeds to give a very Ross-like little speech regarding the strange occurrences of the night. I don’t read this as him being actively suspicious of Macbeth—I think it’s too early for suspicions. At this point, Macduff hasn’t even returned to report the murder. It seems Lennox is reporting on the facts of the night, maybe slightly shaken by what he saw (and presumably sleep-deprived like everybody in this scene). He tells us that he is young (“my young remembrance”), seems horrified when Macduff reports on the murder of Duncan, and is quick to accuse the guardsmen who Macbeth framed. He notes that they “stared and were distracted,” but seems to assume that their behavior was a result of their guilty consciences and not an altered state that would’ve left them unable to commit the crime.
What I take from this is that at this point, Lennox is fairly neutral. He’s quicker to blame the guards than most of the other Thanes (especially Macduff, of course), but I wouldn’t chalk that up to an active loyalty to Macbeth just yet. The fact that he doesn’t speak when Macbeth says he killed the guards in a fury is interesting, but I assume that’s because Macduff is easily doing ALL of the talking at that point (and perhaps because Lennox doesn’t want to publicly quarrel with the person whose house he’s staying in at the moment?)
(5. Act 3 Scene 1)
Lennox is present along with the other Thanes as Macbeth speaks to Banquo and begins his anti-Malcolm & Donalbain propaganda campaign (“bloody cousins”). Lennox seems to notice this language in particular because he will echo it later.
6. Act 3 Scene 4
Lennox attends the disaster banquet and is utterly confused by Macbeth’s behavior along with everyone else. He seems unsettled but unlike Ross, he seems to figure out when it’s time to stop asking questions and simply wishes Macbeth better health in the future.
I’ve always viewed this scene as a turning point for Ross in which he realizes that Macbeth is either personally behind the murder of Duncan or played some hand in it and follows his conscience by shifting his loyalties. Lennox seems to go a different direction. I’m not sure how, having attended the banquet, he could possibly be unaware of Macbeth’s suspiciousness or why he’d choose to overlook it in the long run. More on this later.
7. Act 3 Scene 6
THIS IS THE SCENE THAT DRIVES ME NUTS. I do not understand what is going on here or why (or if these lines are even supposed to be Lennox’s! For our purposes, I’m going to assume they are.)
Lennox enters mid-way through a conversation with an unnamed lord. He seems to be choosing his words carefully, saying far more between his lines than on them. He uses Macbeth’s language of propaganda to an exaggerated extent, accusing Fleance of murdering Banquo and Malcolm and Donalbain of killing Duncan.
Initially, he plausibly believes what he’s saying and has given in to the propaganda but it quickly becomes apparent that this is not the case. He gives a quick and ambiguous line about Fleance, Malc, and Don that seems to imply he’s glad Macbeth doesn’t have them in his grasps:
And I do think
That had he Duncan's sons under his key
(As, an 't please heaven, he shall not) they should find
What 'twere to kill a father. So should Fleance.
But peace.
Perhaps this means “he doesn’t have them because that’s not God’s plan,” but I read it as something more like “and, pray God, he never will have them.” If this is the case, everything he’s said previously is a sarcastic exaggeration and not an actual reflection of his beliefs.
He goes on to question the lord about Macduff’s whereabouts specifically, seemingly out of concern for a friend(?). It is implied that Macbeth already knows this information (WHICH IS WEIRD! But I won’t get ahead of myself!)
Lennox leaves us with his hopes that Macduff will be smart and stay far from Scotland for his own safety and wishes that an angel deliver to Malcolm Macduff’s report before he even arrives to haste them to free Scotland from Macbeth’s grasp.
As of this scene, Lennox seems to be acting just like Ross (if not even more extremely against Macbeth). He calls Macbeth “a hand accursed” and remarks that Scotland is suffering. It seems like he’s on the rebels’ side! But THEN THE NEXT SCENE HAPPENS AND TURNS THIS ON ITS HEAD???
8. Act 4 Scene 1
After Macbeth meets with the witches again, Lennox appears, apparently not heeding his own advice to Macduff about staying far from the Scottish court. He’s confused by Macbeth’s inquiries about the witches (who he either didn’t see or pretends not to have seen? Normally, I’d lean towards the former but given his history, WHO THE HELL KNOWS?!)
And THEN! He straight-up tells Macbeth that Macduff has fled to England which SEEMS TO SURPRISE HIM despite the fact that we learned in the last scene that learning of Macduff’s flight put him into a rage! And to further confuse matters, Lennox lies about the circumstances of his discovery of this information saying “'Tis two or three, my lord, that bring you word / Macduff is fled to England.” Assuming he’s talking about the previous scene (and what else would he be talking about unless there is a scene missing?), this is blatantly untrue! One guy came by and Lennox had a weirdly manipulative discussion with him in order to get Macduff’s location out of him. There were not “two or three” people and the one guy who did come certainly didn’t seem to be there to tell Macbeth (who he personally called a tyrant) about the whereabouts of his enemies.
Either this is a major editorial error or Lennox is playing some very weird game of shifty loyalties. The former interpretation may well be true given this play’s oddities (it’s strangely short and has some obvious non-Shakespeare additions like the Hecate/witch song scene which was added (probably) by Middleton), but that’s not very fun, so let’s go with the latter.
I think the best way to call everything we’ve learned in these scenes canon AND not directly contradictory is to say that what Macbeth was initially angry about was Malcolm’s flight to England, not Macduff’s. There is really no way to reconcile the idea that Macbeth has sent for Macduff to return from England with the idea that he is just finding out about his flight in the next scene. The only way I can make sense of this is that these scenes have been reversed or otherwise edited (perhaps 3.6’s Lennox is meant to be Ross, perhaps there is text missing that changes the meaning… WHO KNOWS.) but if we’re going to call it canon, I guess the best thing we can do to make this series of events make any sense without completely changing every line spoken is to say that Macbeth knows that Malcolm has fled to England and is upset and that he knows that Macduff did not attend the banquet and therefore sent to him to return, to which Macduff sent back the 1060 equivalent of “fuck off” and ran off to England.
(PLEASE tell me if I’m missing something here. This is driving me UP THE WALL and it seems nobody else has questioned it??)
Anyway, with this messy attempt to make the given canon make any sense, the implication is then that Lennox manipulated Unnamed Lord into giving him the information he wanted about Macduff’s whereabouts by pretending to be on the side of the rebels. He then double-crosses them by informing Macbeth and doesn’t argue in the slightest when Macbeth declares (in what is shockingly not an aside, at least in my text) that he’s going to murder Macduff’s entire family. Maybe he’s afraid to speak up, maybe this is where he changes his mind about Macbeth… but if that’s the case, why would hearing Macbeth’s propaganda—which he seems to know is wrong per the last scene—not be enough for him? Why can he recognize that Macbeth is a tyrant but only while trying to squeeze information out of someone? What does he want? I think the only reasonable explanation (beyond “this text is corrupt”) is that Lennox wants power and sides with whoever seems to be winning at the moment—and at this point, that’s Macbeth.
9. Act 5 Scene 2
To make everything a little extra confusing, the next time Lennox appears, he has suddenly joined the rebel army and seems to have a position of rank among them (he has a “file / Of all the gentry” in Malcolm’s army SOMEHOW—something that no one else seems to have).
WHY? WHAT IS HAPPENING? I AM LOSING MY MIND!
The only way I can think to explain this is that EITHER hearing Macbeth declare his plans to murder a woman and her children or realizing that Malcolm has become the most likely victor in the battle caused him to switch sides. That, or he was pretending to be on Macbeth’s side and therefore double-crossing Macbeth by pretending to double-cross the rebels (but if that was the case, why give him accurate intelligence?!)
With how incredibly wishy-washy Lennox’s loyalties (and, honestly, morals) have been up to this point, I think I interpret his joining of the rebel cause as a risk/gains assessment in which he decided he’s more likely to come out on top if he sides with Malcolm. Maybe my view is overly cynical, but I think Lennox is a character who is motivated by ambition just like Macbeth and will side with whoever seems to have power in the moment. He knows how to use rhetoric to his advantage and absolutely does so, regardless of morality.
10. (Later scenes in Act 5)
Depending on the editor, sometimes Lennox silently appears with the other Thanes in various scenes in act 5, but Folger does not include him, so I won’t cover this. It isn’t very important other than to confirm he survives the battle, which seems reasonably safe to assume either way.
Conclusions:
Overall, I’m not sure I answered any of my questions. I’m curious to see what others think about the 3.6/4.1 inconsistencies—is it an editorial error? Have I completely missed something obvious that makes it consistent somehow?
If I had to say what I think Lennox’s deal is at this point, I’d say he’s an ambitious young Thane who takes the side of the powerful for his own advancement but is shaken by Macbeth’s brutality which may turn him prematurely to the side of the rebels before their victory is quite secured.
If we are meant to take this scene ordering and allocation of lines as canon, I don’t think Lennox is faking his loyalty to Macbeth—why would he give up seemingly valuable information and put Macduff’s entire household in danger if that were the case? I think he is loyal, probably for his own sake (he seems to know that Macbeth is dangerous and disregards it), but doesn’t realize just how far Macbeth is willing to go for power. I imagine his role in the murders of Macduff’s family upsets him deeply and perhaps causes him to turn his back on Macbeth and join the rebels by act 5. He’s young, naive, and ambitious, clever with his use of rhetoric (see: 3.6 manipulation tactics), but inexperienced, leading him to underestimate Macbeth and try to justify his own loyalty by pretending he doesn’t suspect that Macbeth played a hand in Duncan and Banquo’s murders.
Aaaaand I wrote a whole fanfiction about this if you’d like a narrative version rather than this analytic one! Here’s a link: https://archiveofourown.org/works/54264247

Power Couple with the ‘It Girl’ HC [Ushijima]
a/n: honestly, I do think Waka-chan will be an interesting partner, wouldn’t you agree?
warning: none
Haikyuu HC Masterlist | Haikyuu Series Masterlist | Genshin Impact Masterlist
Tumblr media
✨model students power couple✨
literally a king and queen
NotLikeThis emote every teacher and students in school put you two on a pedestal because you two are exemplary in your own ways
that pressure wasn’t very pleasant, but you two endured it together
Ushijima is the star student that was selected to be an under 19 representative for Japan for the Youth World Championship and his studies are within the top 0.5%
but he has a stoic face and intimidating face
you are the student council’s president and was the lead star of Shiratorizawa, crème de la crème
but you have a stoic face too
no one would expect the two of you to be a couple since neither one of you showed even an ounce of hint towards having romantic feelings
both of you had been in the same class since middle school so you two knew of each other and even back then, Ushijima and yourself were outstanding students
your home room teacher joked that they wouldn't be surprised if one day you two end up dating each other because you two would always be selected as representatives of some sort
teachers think that way?? (◕︿◕✿)? even a smart cookie such as yourself was a little confused at such a thought process
fast-forward to the end of your first year in high school, with the help of your best friend, you were able to internalized and process the tinge of sourness whenever you saw a girl got too touchy with Ushijima
or the sudden wave of heat that was sent through your body when you two accidentally brushed past
not one to dilly-dally, you decided to just confess your feelings to the volleyball loving idiot. if he didn't like you back, so be it, because then you can just move on
surprise, surprise (no sarcasm) he actually liked you a lot too
he just didn't know how to approach it, says he
so he would purposely visit the places you would most likely appear just to catch a glimpse of how angelic you look because seeing you doing well is all he needed to know to make his day better
Ushijima you oblivious flirt ( 〃ω〃)
teachers adore you two so much. we all know teachers are secretly shipping their students, but you will forever remain their favourite because it is so unexpected
very lowkey about PDA in the beginning, aside from holding hands, but you two just love it that way. his hands are hUGE and wraps around yours perfectly
but when you two do show PDA…
*cameras 📷 out and ready*
the whole school finds it so adorable that their power couple is so fluffy now
when they spot you near each other's vicinity, they would stare and wait. wait until you two cross path and witness the way Ushijima stopped you to remind you to take good care, witness the way you reached to his hair and gave it a loving pat
and witness the tiny redness on the tip of you two’s ears as you two continue your day
listen, sweet [y/n], as the school council's most vital member, your time is eaten up by a lot of matters, trivial or not (ノσ‸σ)ノ*:・゚✧
you don't often had the luxury to watch his games live since you were the secretary/vice-president/president in each respective year of your high school career and thus could only show support to him via objects
gifting him a towel that has his name embroidered by you, or some home cooked lunch you made for his matches
he didn't mind if you came or not, because he understands how important of a figure you are in Shiratorizawa (heck he even answers to you for certain matters) and is needed in school even after school hours
plus, if he needs your presence to win, then what kind of powerhouse is Shiratorizawa? He wants to show you that he is reliable regardless, so he can protect you in every situation
{´◕ ◡ ◕`} what a protective simp but protective Ushijima will always flutter not only you, but the people around you
but just because he is your significant other, doesn’t mean he is exempted from your lectures when it came to school rules
remember how he let Kageyama and Hinata entered Shiratorizawa without the proper process?
lmao who the fuck is darling, dear, or honey?
It was only “Ushijima Wakatoshi, please come to the student council office right now”
you had never seen Ushijima looked so unsure of himself when he sat in front of your desk
“I heard you let two students from Karasuno enter our campus without the proper procedures…”
Ushijima shifted in his seat as he tried to maintain eye contact with you. he was thankful you sent everyone out
“It was an oversight on my part. I am very sorry, my dear,” he said, and it was at that second, Ushijima unlocked the ability “puppy eyes”
Ushijima made sure to buy you a nice bouquet of your favourite flowers, and pamper you because he didn’t want you to be disappointed in him, and because you deserve the queen treatment, ofc
just like Oikawa (lmao) he makes sure to let the interviewers know of you and how you are always there to give him that additional push. man over here has cheesy things to say, i tell ya
“I also have my lovely significant other that supports my career-”
*he points to you in the crowd*
Ushijima.exe is processing...
“[y/n] is here?” he asked incredulously
why did he point at you as if ke knew? lmao wtf, you volleyball idiot
his ‘y/n’ radar is on 24/7 it seems
yes, if you have the luxury to actually show up, you quietly watch your boyfriend and absorb every single play he did, never informing him about you being in the crowd until the end of the game
the crowd makes sure you get the best view of the entire match
he loves it when you do that, makes for a pleasant after-game surprise
over time, you two are more comfortable with PDA
Ushijima will take the initiative to have his arms around you and kisses you on your cheeks or forehead when he sees you off to your meetings before heading off to the gym himself
you two often have lunch together with the volleyball team, so the cafeteria is always packed because now everyone wants to watch the power couple live and breathe like a movie
overall, your status as a power couple came from having a solid reputation that kept on growing when you two got together
it's honestly scary just how much power you two hold
but of course, only true friends will see who has the most power over the other in your relationship
