'One movie is bursting with life-size doll houses and blowout parties and so, so much pink. The other tells the origin story of the deadliest weapon in human history.
On July 21, with the opening of two of the most anticipated films of the year, “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer,” thousands of fans will head to theaters to watch both movies on the same day — relishing the irony of seeing two star-studded films with such incongruous themes.
“It’s a juxtaposition to show the brightest and darkest sides of the human imagination,” said Eden Schumer, a paralegal in Manhattan, who plans to wear a T-shirt featuring both “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer” designs to the theater. “You’re creating worlds and also destroying worlds.”
This double feature — branded “Barbenheimer” by the internet — promises to be a cultural event, a movie buff’s dream and a magnet drawing people back to theaters even as the movie industry struggles to compete against streaming services and recover prepandemic engagement.
More than 20,000 people have already purchased tickets to see “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer” on the same day, according to Elizabeth Frank, the executive vice president of worldwide programming and chief content officer for AMC Theaters. From July 7 to July 10, AMC saw a 33 percent increase in the number of guests buying tickets for the double feature.
Kevin Sabellico, a political consultant from Carlsbad, Calif., said he used to see movies multiple times a month, but stopped going during the pandemic. He hasn’t been to a theater in more than a year.
“This is the event that will bring me back,” Sabellico said. “I don’t know why, but the duality of these films happening on the same day just has me captivated and wanting to see both on the big screen.”
Like Sabellico, Jackson Kennedy, a graduate student at Stanford University, is ending a theatrical hiatus for the double feature.
“I haven’t been to the theater this entire year, and now I’m going to spend all day in one,” he said.
In which order should the movies be seen? The consensus seems to be “Oppenheimer” first: Take in the strong stuff, then end the night with a party.
“My friends and I in Chicago are spending our day at the Alamo Drafthouse and seeing the films the way the Lord herself intended: ‘Oppenheimer’ at 10 a.m. with a black coffee / ‘Barbie’ at 4:20 p.m. with a big Diet Coke,” Andrea Ledesma, a marketing operations manager, wrote in an email.
Rita Wenxin Wang of Brooklyn, who is also starting with “Oppenheimer,” decided to purchase tickets for the double feature after seeing dozens of memes and jokes juxtaposing the two movies online.
“It feels more fun to end the night on a fun light movie than a serious movie where someone builds an atomic bomb,” Wang said.
Many other double-feature moviegoers are putting their outfits together accordingly. Thomas Cuda, from Jacksonville, Fla., said he plans to dress with a subdued style for “Oppenheimer” in the morning, perhaps wearing a suit. For the afternoon “Barbie” showing, he has something flashy planned. For the past year, he has had a pair of pink jeans — a gift from his wife — sitting in his closet.
“I haven’t ever had the courage to give them a try, but I will be busting them out for ‘Barbie,’” he said.
Cuda couldn’t believe it when he found out the movies were both opening on July 21, a week and a half after his birthday. He decided to postpone his birthday celebration until next week.
“We’re not going to spend any money. We’re going to save it all. We’re going big on release day,” he said. “For me this is probably the third most important day of the year behind my anniversary and Halloween.”'

Tumblr media
The media rushed to cover the latest case in town, the murder case of the lovers,. The accused had just arrived at the court room awaiting his trial while media swarmed around him trying to get some answers from him.
The accused was Choi Seungcheol, accused of murdering his boyfriend of 4 years, Y/N L/N. Acording to the reports, these two had met in the second year of college and started dating in the third. Among all their friends, they were popular for their strong feelings and their undying love for each other. After college, when both of them got jobs, they decided not to waste anytime and moved in together in the first and last house.
On the night of 3 October, at 10:36 pm, the police received a call from their house landline with a man named Seungcheol confessing to killing his boyfriend. The police rushed to crime scene and were shocked to see the front door open through which it could be seen that the accused was sitting with his dead boyfriend in his arms, bawling his eyes out, stroking the hair ofvictim and whispering words of love, knowing he would never hear them again. The police separated both of them and by the time he was arrested and the crime scene was investigated, the media had gotten a sniff of the case and their apartment building was swarming with media, with each one wanting to cover the shocking case of the lovely couple who met their tragic end when the boyfriend killed the other one .
The family of both the victim and the accused were informed and it was rather blatantly shocking as both families knew their child’s partner and had approved of them dating each other. To believe that a couple like them, who were on the path to marrying each other had been met with a end like this was unbelievable. Y/N’s family was beyond consolable, demanding why Seungcheol killed him despite him loving each other. Seungcheol had no response except looking at the floor with red eyes with tears at the brink of them.
When the day of the trial arrived, media was swarming outside to get a glimpse of Seungcheol. The trial had stretched for barely an hour, with Seungcheol accepting all claims and not trying to prove against any of the claims made by his boyfriend’s family.
With everything as clear as crystal, the judge passed the verdict, “After carefully reviewing the evidence and considering the gravity of this crime, it is with great sorrow that I must pronounce my verdict. The evidence presented in this court has established beyond a reasonable doubt that Kim Seungcheol is responsible for the murder of Y/N L/N. The court recognizes the complexities of emotions and motivations involved in this case, but the law must prevail. Kim Seungcheol is sentenced  to 20 years of imprisonment after which he may be considered for parole as the verdict for the murder of Y/N L/N.
— — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — —
After years of spending his verdict in the jail, Seungcheol never confessed to as to why he murdered his boyfriend. Yet, what was more confusing was the pendant he wore around his neck, a diamond ‘S’, which Y/N had gifted to him on their 3 anniversary. If he had loved his boyfriend so much, what was the reason of killing him?
Seungcheol had arrived his shared apartment with no energy, he was dead tired after a busy day of work and wanted nothing more than a hug from his lover. As soon as he entered the apartment, instead of being greeted by the warm smile of his lover wearing his shirt, he was greeted with the puffy eyes of his lover, sporting messy hair and cheeks all dried up from what he assumed were tears. Seungcheol rushed to his lover and was about to ask him when Y/N broke the silence by saying those four words which shattered him completely.
 “I cheated on you”
Seungcheol  didn't feel anything, but maybe that was even better.
Y/N approached Seungcheol with a knife, Seungcheol thought Y/N was about to attack him when the words which came out of Y/N’s mouth shocked him. Never in his own life, he had imagined his lover would ask him to kill him. He staggered behind, trying to ask Y/N if he was in his right mind.
“Darling, I am absolutely sane, I would rather you do it, the guilt is too much for me to live on a life without you.”
“ You don’t have to do this, we can talk about it, we can solve it-“
“This is not one your math problems Seungcheol that you can talk about it and solve it.”
“Everything will be ok, just leave that knife, we have solved our problems together. Don’t you remember the time you burnt my t-shirt, and bought me the same one thinking I would be angry ? In the end I still found out and I was anything but angry!”
Y/N gave a sobbed chuckle, and replied, “There is a difference between a t-shirt and a relationship Seungcheol !”
“It’s not like it can’t be fixed!”
“It can’t! I messed up! I broke everything ! Our love, you trust, everything !”
“Don’t do this Y/N, you know very well I can’t live without you ! All these years-, all these years I have woken up with your smile, slept to your voice, laughed to your dad jokes, cried to the movies we watched together, and most over, I have learned to love myself along with you. My whole life has been related to you ! You are a part of my life-”
“Stop making it hard for me !”
“If it is hard, then drop it, if you love me drop it , if I meant soemthing to you, drop it”
“Seungcheol-ah, you might be able to forgive me, but I can’t forgive myself, life is not always fair, and happy endings are not meant for all. My love, the life we had was worth it, and me saying goodbye won’t a change a thing. it doesn’t mean I am going to forget us. You were the first thing that brought me true happiness and you shall be the last. I love you, Seungcheol.”
Those words were the last he said before he stabbed himself with the knife, Seungcheol watched him fall with a smile, all the memories of them flashing before his eyes. His  warmth left. His smile slipped away. His eyes dimmed. He left before Seungcheol.
Seungcheol rushed to hug the body which barely had any warmth left, he sobbed, blaming himself for this to happen, wanting nothing more but for Y/N to come back.
Him bawling his soul out led to nothing but reminded him of the emptiness, the room which was alone, the room which shall never be filled with lovers voice. They were soulmates, meant to be, but not meant to last.
Before picking up the phone and making that one call to seal his fate, he whispered, “Even after seeing how it ended I'm still glad it began, Rest well my angel.”

Hello!
Can i request again?
So... Fluff really fluffy. Old Mc with Old warlords.
Please don't kill them. 😭
IkeSen Boys + Growing Old With MC
Note: The children of the warlords are taken from historical record, but please know that not all scenarios are accurate as I had named some children to fill in the children who were unnamed.
To be honest with you this is probably the longest ask I've ever done, over a period of 4 days of editing and characters so I hope you enjoy the fluffy family content! It's cut for length. Also... I couldn't add so many tags so please share it if you can!
Nobunaga Oda
You were excited for this particular day, since your oldest son, Nobutada was finally coming home from a skirmish he had settled. The Owari province was long handed over to your sons, as you and Nobunaga lived peacefully in the edges of Azuchi, away from the city.
You had waited a long time to see your children once again, although not all were in Azuchi. With 21 children in total, both adopted and from birth, most were of similar age. The only few that lived with you were your youngest daughters, Oushin and Ofuri who were adopted at the same time. Youngest was a stretch, considering they were both 19.
Your other warlord friends were due to visit soon, including Hideyoshi. Throughout your years, you never comprehended why no one interested Hideyoshi as a romantic partner. Although, your heart eased, remembering how Hideyoshi would care for your sons as if he were their own.
Your thoughts were interrupted by your husband, as he plopped next to you, taking in the serene view of the empty field. In his hand were a bag of konpeito. Hideyoshi would be angry, but you weren't so as you managed to control his candy-loving instincts. You took a few to nibble on yourself, as you leaned against your husband.
"What were you thinking of, my fireball?"
You hummed, wondering how to respond. "About the future perhaps?"
"Good," he said. "I've been thinking... I wouldn't change a thing. But..."
You leaned into him, tickling the hairs of his neck. He flinched away, peppering you in kisses in retaliation as he continued his thought. "I want to travel once again, with you."
"I won't say no... But why not travel for longer?"
The moment your friends gathered, you and your husband announced your decision. Your children were surprised but the older warlords weren't. Masamune also teased Nobunaga, saying how he grew tired of a tranquil life. It wasn't long before you contacted Motonari, and the Oda couple were due to sail to Portugal.
"My years with you gave me the greatest life, YN."
Hideyoshi Toyotomi
It was not long before the day of your 20th marriage anniversary with Hideyoshi, but you woke up to a missing husband. Hideyoshi, being the way that he is, never stopped working for Nobunaga. Years went by, and you and Hideyoshi had a family of two sons, Hideyori and Tsurumatsu.
Your oldest son, Tsurumatsu, welcomed you instead in the morning. Your oldest was the spitting image of Hideyoshi, except that he took your eyes. It was as if you were looking at a younger Hideyoshi, and you commented on it, "With a sword like that, you remind me of your father..."
Your son's attitude however, resembled Ieyasu more than anything. Well... Ieyasu was his favourite warlord uncle when growing up. Tsurumatsu denied any of the sort, and insisted he accompanied you around Azuchi. You were internally grateful that your sons took after your husband's gentleman-like attitude, although at times when living in an estate with all three, it could get overbearing...
As you looked over the local fabrics, your hands traced over a fabric that you thought would suit all three of your boys.
"Princess YN?"
"Lord Mitsuhide!" Your son quickly bowed to the other warlord, but Mitsuhide gave him the respect to get up. The sudden appearance of the two bachelors, one older than the other, caused an uproar of the unmarried women of the market. It got you to think why Mitsuhide never settled down...
Your trip with your son ended in the front gates, where your younger son Hideyori and your husband Hideyoshi stood. Hideyoshi welcomed you wholeheartedly.
Hideyoshi escorted you around town, and you held onto his arm as you did before, and you two reminisced about the memories you had in the town together.
"20 years married..." You muttered. "Time flies huh? The boys have the townswomen swooning over them just like you did back then..."
"I only had eyes for you, YN..." He said. You huffed, teasing him about how he was in denial about his feelings the entire time. Hideyoshi grew red at your teasing, with you pulling him down to your level, kissing him on the cheek.
"For these 20 years with me YN... Thank you for telling me to live and staying with me."
Mitsunari Ishida
Your life never slowed down despite Mitsunari's calm approach to life. It was a joyous occasion for the Ishida clan throughout the years as you and Mitsunari had a wonderfully, large family of you both and 6 children.
Mitsunari still worked under Hideyoshi, with your third son Sakichi following in his footsteps. The week was busy, with you preparing for two weddings for your second and third daughter.
All your 6 children followed in the steps of Mitsunari in terms of worshipping Ieyasu. It was so much so, that one of your son-in-laws was Senchiyo Tokugawa. The warlords were long gone with their aggressions, so you were surprised when Mitsunari and Ieyasu arranged Kennyo to officiate the marriage.
Kennyo had been a neutral force after the birth of your first son Shigenari, as he even offered to bless your child. Kennyo himself never settled down, but he focused on rebuilding the temples instead. Mitsunari was quite the supporter, but Hideyoshi let an insight that it meant a lot to him since before Mitsunari studied in a temple.
You and Mitsunari returned home after a long shopping trip with the two oldest sons, Shigenari and Shigeie. Mitsunari nowadays forgot his things more and more, but his hatred for carrots continued. Your sons disappeared somewhere else to eat their carrot snacks, as you sat with Mitsunari in his study.
"You've never changed, Mitsunari..." You said, preparing some tea for him.
He reached out to your own hand, helping you pour. "I'm sure I'm improving on my tea manners!"
The silence never settled between you two, as no matter how much time had passed, you two never ran out of topics to run out of. You comforted Mitsunari as he confessed how sullen he felt about your daughters leaving.
"If anything... YN, in my time with you... Thank you for marrying me."
Mitsuhide Akechi
You moved to Tanba permanently, and you gave up your rank as Princess. With Mitsuhide gone for his missions, you'd answer to the other warlords. Somehow, it lead you to the title of 'Lady Akechi'.
It wasn't long before your first daughter, Tama, was to come of age. Mitsuhide was a private man, so it was only to be held with the other warlords and your entire family. You and Mitsuhide had a small family, but they were equally cherished by the others.
Yoshimoto arrived at Tanba earlier than expected. You had become fast friends with him, despite Mitsuhide's dislike. You had reassured him multiple times that Yoshimoto had no interest in you, but at times you had questioned why Yoshimoto never married...
"Tama! Yoshimoto is here!" You called out for your daughter. She was most likely with your youngest daughter... Yoshimoto had agreed to come and help Tama put together her hair, with the accessories he had collected.
It was not long before your daughter was finished, and by that time Mitsuhide with your eldest son, Mitsuyoshi, returned. No matter how many people were in the estate, your husband kissed you on the cheek, as it was customary to do.
Mitsuyoshi made faces, but was silenced by his much more mature, younger sister. Yoshimoto was quick to escort the three siblings outside, where Kyubei was waiting to bring his Lord's family to Nobunaga's Castle.
"Mou... Mitsuhide, the children are waiting... It's Tama's day today..." You muttered, as he continued to kiss you.
"Our children are adults, YN..." He said, holding you close. "Let your husband indulge in you for one more kiss... For now, and all our coming years..."
Ieyasu Tokugawa
In celebration, you decided to throw a banquet for Ieyasu as he announced he was stepping down from work. It was lively at home, with 16 children and a small army of rescued deer over the year helping you to decorate the house. You and Ieyasu, besides the deer, adopted children over your 20 years of marriage who soon became close with your 6 biological children.
You hurried to prepare the grand hall, but before you could fully lift the box full of tapestries, it was quickly carried away.
"Mama... You're not allowed to carry heavy things anymore," A blond man told you off, as two other men carried the vases away.
"Nobuyasu... Ogimaru... Hidetada..." You smiled at your three eldest sons. Ah, your heart warmed at how considerate they've become. It made you feel like a proud mother... "You three returned from Kenshin's lessons?"
The gap between the Oda and Uesugi-Takeda forces closed, and Kenshin grew close to your family. He never had children of his own, so you were enthusiastic when Kenshin treated your eleven sons as his own, even taking some to learn the sword by him.
"Mama! Don't be distracted! Let us fix you up!"
From behind you, your five daughters swarmed you, wrapping you up in a cloth you sure you bought this week... and it was untrimmed...
"Tokuhime! I haven't trimmed that cloth!" You turned to your other daughters, who were also holding makeup paints and hairpins. "Kamehime! Ichihime! You don't have to throw your jewellery to get my attention!"
"Mou... Mama, Father will be so happy to see you dressed up~" Your third daughter, Furihime chimed.
Matsuhime, the fourth daughter, joined in. "Without our help, your kimono might be too old fashioned Mama..."
Oh... Things were lively with all your children back at home... Your sons finished decorating the hall, and as a token you decided to do your daughters' hair to match them to your hairstyle.
You were last to enter the hall, as the boys wanted to greet their father first. Your daughters entered next, and all Ieyasu saw through them was you, and the way you raised them made them blossom into the people they were today. When you entered... he swore he stopped breathing.
"YN... My wife..." Not much was said after, but the blush on his face was enough to show how much he loved it, as well as his hand gripping onto yours tracing every finger of it.
Masamune Date
You would like to think that your life grew much more peaceful, but with a chaotic husband like Masamune, and four equally chaotic children like him. The Date forces as a whole were also chaotic. It was safe to say that Lady Date was one who took care of them all, no matter how big or small.
It gave your husband the great idea of planning a surprise birthday party for you with his children. As a warlord, he was not Ishida Mitsunari but he could still plan a well thought-out strategy...
"Irohahime, Muuhime, you are to distract your mother at the market. Kojuro will give the signal when we're ready."
They nodded. "Yes Dad."
"Hidemune, Tadamune. You know when to start the fight," He reiterated.
"Yes Da-"
Ieyasu, who came earlier as a guest, spoke up. "Why am I a part of this?"
"YN will only break a fight if it involves people outside our family," Masamune explained, flexing his arm. "She knows we're tough as nails..."
Ieyasu Tokugawa remained a bachelor, although he never explained why he didn't. Masamune had a little bit of a hunch, but he isn't one to pry. Ieyasu was an undeniable favourite of his daughter Muuhime, who gained an affinity for medicine.
"Tough as nails?"
Your family was dumbfounded that you stepped in the decorated hall, with your husband and children, with Ieyasu in the corner with a bowl of spicy soup. Kojuro had kindly lead Lady Date into the hall, despite of the plan as no one in the Date palace dared to defy YN LN.
For a room full of adults, your family at the moment were not acting like one. It was typical, but you had to wonder what the fuss was all about. Tadamune, the closest to you, was someone who couldn't lie to you, and told you the truth. It ended quite simply, as you insisted to help prepare.
In the kitchen with Masamune brought back memories. The whole time you and your husband were cooking, you played around with the ingredients as you did back then.
"My wife... you have a little flour on your face. Should I wipe it with my fingers or..." He wrapped his arms your waist, brushing his lips on your ear. "Kiss it away myself?"
Ranmaru Mori
You and Ranmaru decided to leave the Oda forces once you both got married. Ranmaru was mainly the reason, as he wanted to keep a neutral stance for your safety.
Ranmaru grew much taller over the years, but he wasn't as towering as the other warlords. You didn't mind as much except for the period of measuring out new kimonos for him. You both lead a quaint life, with Ranmaru working as your courier for your sewing work.
You and Ranmaru never had any children of your own, instead opting to become foster parents to other children whose parents were in war efforts or children that were orphaned from incidents.
Many children came and went, some of them leaving and never returning but there were the few that stayed. Ranmaru was still actively talking to the other warlords through letters, so you weren't surprised when he said that he intended to take you back to Azuchi for peach season.
It was no surprise that Hideyoshi gathered the entire town of Azuchi to welcome you both. It was nice to meet friends you had missed, as well as the daughters of the warlords you worked for. They awed at you, but to you it was as if you had adopted many, many girls resembling your friends.
"YN-hime! Etto... Do we call you YN-hime?" Tatsuhime, the oldest daughter of Mitsunari, asked.
"Of course! Even if she's not in Azuchi Castle, all our uncles say that she's the best princess!" Tokuhime, Nobunaga's oldest daughter, chimed in. "I may be Azuchi's princess but I can't fathom comparing myself to YN-hime!"
You shushed the girls, getting overwhelmed easily by the compliments and praises showered on you. You gave a peak to Ranmaru as a plea for help, but he added the cherry on top to the compliments instead.
"YN, YN... You know you're the best princess in my eyes!" He said, kissing your hand.
You were sure Ieyasu's daughters poked at their father with teasing of following Ranmaru's example. Others, like Mitsuhide's and Masamune's daughters, began to swoon that Ranmaru was more romantic than their fathers.
"I think that's enough Ranmaru... Let's save the romantic lines for our walk in the garden..."
Keiji Maeda
Oh what memories you had with Keiji over the years... For one, you were glad that the allegiance between the Oda and Uesugi-Takeda worked out, as you and Keiji decided to live together during that time.
You were shortly married after, with Keiji inviting Naoe as well, which lead to Kenshin being invited... plus Sasuke and Yukimura... not to mention Shingen as well... In the end it resulted in another gathering between the Oda and Uesugi-Takeda which you were glad didn't turn out violent.
Keiji was quite the family man himself, for after 20 years of marriage you had raised 10 children together, with 4 biological children and 6 adopted children. They had all grown up, married off to someone they love, leaving the once rowdy house now empty and quiet.
Keiji never stopped supporting Nobunaga, working almost as much as Hideyoshi on some days. You lived quietly, occasionally accompanying the wives of the other warlords as you never gave up your title as Azuchi's Princess, but it was obvious that you missed your entire family.
Keiji was always good with knowing your mood. Much to your surprise, you came back to an empty estate... but there were voices? One roaring voice sent you running to the main hall, where you opened the doors and there were your children, sitting around their father as he told more of his old war stories.
Overwhelmed with emotion, you shed a few tears as each of your children went up and hugged you.
"It's been so long my children..." You said as you hugged your two daughters.
"Mom, don't cry! If you cry... I'm gonna cry too!" Your first son, Keita wailed. He was taller than his father but it was quick to see that Keita, and much of the large boys of the family treasured you as their mother.
"Hoi hoi you rascals!" Keiji called out, getting up to walk to you. "Your monstrous heights would crush your mother!"
You moved into a hug with your husband, feeling Keiji lift you up. "My dear... they wouldn't," You grinned, finally laughing. "Keiji... Thank you for bringing our family together."
Kenshin Uesugi
Being crowned Lady Uesugi, you and Kenshin got busier and busier every year. It was an occurrence for the scribes of Kasugayama Castle to trail your relationship with Kenshin, as by the end of the day, it was a habit of his to take you on a stroll with your many, many bunnies.
There was not a soul in Echigo that did not hear of your marriage, Many were welcomed, but at the time no one thought that there would be a larger party than this. That was... until it was announced that you were pregnant.
It was an uproar, especially with Kenshin going around to everyone, saying how you were with child. To your surprise, your family of supposed three become a family of four as you were blessed with twins.
Kasugayama Castle was the home of your twins, Kagetora and Kagekatsu. Kenshin was proud of them, and they grew up to follow in their father's footsteps to take over the Uesugi clan... or that's what you thought until you realised how stubborn your husband was. He was making them work hard for it in their teen years when they expressed their interest in it.
Ah, but of course... Your three boys would always recharge with you, talking about their day. If one thing, they never learnt to share...
"What? You're drinking tea with Mama? But I wanted to show her the fabrics the merchants showed me!" Kagetora yelled at his older twin. Besides sword fighting, he grew up with an interest towards strategy, which was under Mitsunari's influence. He visited as often as he could, but you wonder if someone would ever catch Mitsunari's eye...
"An oaf like you wouldn't know how to brew tea like this for Mama..." Kagekatsu retorted, setting the pot down. He gained an interest for elegant arts similar to his father, and of course his favourite uncle is Yoshimoto.
Both glared at each other, but it was not long before the God of War entered the garden, with his many bunnies. "And why are you bothering my wife?"
"Father! Don't talk as if we're strangers! We're your sons and we wanna spend time with Mama too!" Kagetora retorted.
Kenshin drew his blade, challenging his sons that the winner gets to spend the afternoon with you.
"Ehem!" You coughed out, folding your kimono under you. "Boys, what's my number one rule in the garden?"
"No fighting and no swords..." Kagekatsu muttered.
"That's right," You said, taking a cup for yourself. "Now, why don't we all just sit down and have some tea?"
Sasuke Sarutobi
You and Sasuke didn't rush your lives in the Sengoku, since coming from the future meant a busy livelihood. You both agreed that when you both grew older, you would relax a little and not worry about the larger things in life.
Sasuke kept you in Echigo, as you stayed close to him and his other friends. You both had no intention of moving, but you did have an idea to own an estate to yourselves. There was no intention of children from both of you, so you decided to become foster parents to children with majority of their families at war.
You had only fostered about 3 children, but similarly, they too had extended families that they stayed with instead. The both of you learnt how to let go, ever since staying here, but that was something you both grew from. Finding out you both let go of the children you cared for, Yukimura had asked if you were interested in taking in his nephews and niece.
Yukimura himself never married, and you never asked, but he was a dear friend that you and Sasuke would sacrifice a lot for. Yukimura's orphaned nephews and niece were quickly known as your children, and Sasuke would always read them Physics Theorems as a bed time story...
It was a joyous occasion whenever those three would come back, and sooner by that time you realised you had gotten older. There was a small room where you and Sasuke kept your modern items, coincidentally was the room you would often have tea in.
You sighed, taking another bite of your bun. "Sasuke... I know we've lived quietly, but I've wanted to know if you ever wanted to return?"
"There's nothing I would've changed, YN... Not a single thing." He smiled, brushing his hand over yours. "Maybe... maybe there's another timeline, but you're in this one so it's where I am."
Kanetsugu Naoe
He continued to serve his years under Kenshin's reign, but then it was a moment of realisation of how time passed when you told him you were pregnant. It was a moment of stress for him, as he wasn't knowledgeable on the process.
It was recorded by the scribes of Kasugayama Castle that when Azuchi's Princess gave birth, Kanetsugu shed tears as if it were raining. That is to say, he cried a lot. You had a son, Kanetsuna. Much like his father, your son grew up to admire the line of Kenshin Uesugi, becoming close friends with Kagekatsu and Kagetora Uesugi.
Those three went off adventuring so much, it often worried you. Kanetsugu, with his curt self, would reassure you in his own way. It wouldn't help you much, since Kanetsugu would also talk about how helpful Kanetsuna was being towards the Uesugi family line.
You always busied yourself with your sewing, so you often used your son as a model to model your kimonos after. Kanetsuna never had an interest in fashion, but he would always walk up to women in the streets to go and buy your kimonos whenever you would open the shop.
Needless to say, most thought you were available for a marriage interview instead. Kanetsugu was surprised to see you carry home so many letters addressed to your son. Somehow, he was proud but wary.
"How did our son even resemble Shingen's charm? I'm aware he has my looks, but this is a bit much..." He adjusted the glasses he wore, taking more letters off your arms.
"Our son is of age, Kanetsugu and don't flatter yourself too much," You said, setting the letters aside. "You weren't a charmer but you steered clear of women..."
He turned red when you brought up his past self. His blush went away the moment you kissed him cheek, wrapping your arms around your husband. "It's alright, my husband... I certainly fell hard for you."
Shingen Takeda
How you lived in bliss with Shingen... It was not long before Kai was returned to Shingen, and he worked hard to build it up from the state that it was left in. Shingen created a loving community in Kai, and it was no question a homely place for you and him. Nobunaga claimed that the crops he gifted on your wedding were a gift, and you thanked him for that. Despite the time that passed, Nobunaga never took a spouse, so you wondered when he would marry too.
The whole community was in joy when you were with child, which prompted Shingen to throw an entire festival to bless your first born. Years went by, and you bore four sons for Shingen. Kai was now famous for its festivals, since Shingen insisted on one for every child you both had.
Kai, in turn, had a festival for every season and every son, with each having their birthdays in a particular season. Katsuyori was in the summer, Harukiyo was in the spring, Nobuchika was in Autumn and Yoshinobu was in Winter. The particular festival this time around was for Nobuchika, your second son and his 20th birthday.
You sighed, remembering the times the boys were younger. How they would run around, and how Shingen would swing them around hanging off his biceps. It was about 20 years of marriage, so you could still attest that he had the biceps, but your sons were far too tall to swing off their father's arm.
"Remember how they would swing on my arm?" Shingen said to you, taking a bite of a sweet bun.
"Mhm... Katsuyori would always fall off..." You replied, sipping your tea. The both of you watched as the new generation of the Kai people set up the tents, and raked the leaves off the walkways for the guests. "But Nobuchika was very stubborn..."
"It was always adorable how you'd panic, my Goddess..." He teased, pulling you close. "Not like I minded... Ah, and how Yoshinobu would sleep on Koro's back..."
The teasing was uncalled for, but Shingen couldn't stop swaddling you in his arms, relishing you in his kisses. You laughed, and your gleeful smile is one he'd always want to see on you.
Harukiyo, the youngest, nudge his other brothers. "Hey... Do they know that we're still here?"
The other three shook their heads.
Yukimura Sanada
Throughout the years, you and Yuki had 11 children together, with a mix of adopted and biological children. You were surprised that Yuki even had the confidence to take care of so many children with you, since Yuki wasn't exactly a paternal type either...
Another thing was, out of 11 children, you only had four sons... with very similar names that you can't help but give nicknames to them!
"Yuki! Dai! Help your sisters carry this heavy pot!" You yelled. In a rush, four young adults plus your husband came from their training, spears in hand, at your call to the garden.
You always wondered why Yuki insisted on naming two sons Yukichika and Yukinobu and the other two Daihachi and Daisuke. It always confused the others, especially Shingen when he couldn't tell them apart.
Besides that, all of your children had gained a love for some kind of weaponry. The only exception was your oldest, Kiku, who decided to become a healer instead. You fully supported their interests, but you still had to lay down some ground rules about weapons...
It wasn't long before three of your girls came back with Sasuke. Sasuke continued to be a favourite of the Sanada family, especially with the triplets, Okane, Oshobu and Oume, who had an affinity for throwing stars and knives. The last three girls, Ichi, Naho and Akuri were fans of archery instead, which their father taught them as well.
Speaking of Sasuke, you were glad that he treated the children as his own. You never asked why he never did adopt a few, or get married, but you were sure it wasn't right to pry.
It was always a big dinner with the Sanada family, but after dinner Yukimura would always take you somewhere else, be it the study or the garden, for his alone time with you.
"Time passes by huh..." You muttered, reaching in the tiny jar of fish snacks.
Yuki hummed, stroking Muramasa's coat as he listened to how your day went. No longer did he insult you as often as he did, but that boyish attitude of his never changed.
"Oh by the way... I arranged a marriage interview with Kiku and Katsuyori!"
Yuki spat out his drink. "T-Takeda Katsuyori?"
You hummed. "Kiku really likes him, and the feelings are mutual so-"
Not a word was to be said about what Yukimura screamed. Except for the fact that you replied with, "Kiku is 23 years old."
Yoshimoto Imagawa
Yoshimoto wasn't someone you'd imagine wanting a family, but then you realised that Yoshimoto really wanted to pamper any children you had. It was a slow process, but over the years, you both had 5 children, with 4 daughters and a son.
Your four daughters were well-known for their beauty, especially with mentions of their lineage as the phrase of 'Elegance of Imagawa and Beauty of Azuchi's Princess' was repeated several times over. Yoshimoto would not stop gushing over his own children, no matter how old they were.
Your only son, Ujizane was much more interested in becoming someone like Yukimura but he was also famous for his calligraphy works. It was an understatement how many pieces were commissioned by Kenshin and Masamune.
Yoshimoto however, has no concept of approaching romance when it came to his own child. He so happened to eavesdrop your conversation with your second daughter, Reishou.
"Ah! I can't look at him Mother! He's... He's very charming!" The usual stoic Reishou hid her face in her hands, her body swaying back and forth.
"Now... did you send him that letter I told you to do?" You said, patting her on the back. "Yoshinobu was it? He's a nice man..."
"But... But... the messenger accidentally sent it to Harukiyo Takeda! He mixed up the wrong brother..." Reishou told you, tears coming from her eyes. You wiped them away, hugging her close, and telling her it was going to be alright.
"Father? What are you doing in front Reishou's room?" His first daughter, Chotoku, asked, a hand to her hip in wonder. She wasn't as quiet as her father, her mannerisms and voice loud and clear. The 'eep' from the room was enough for him to bow down in shame as he saw you exit Reishou's room.
You ushered Chotoku to comfort her younger sister, as you dragged your husband somewhere else.
"Now Yoshimoto... you should apologise to your daughter," You said, finishing your lecture about why he shouldn't listen in. He pressed his head to floor as he listened, bowing to you as you went on about how he should be supportive.
"I... I understand my wife. Thank you..." He said.
"With that said... The five of you can come in now. I'm done with the scolding..."
Oh, the embarrassment he felt...
Kennyo
He was embarrassed to tell you that he had planned out his future with you when you found him pacing around about names for your future children. You and Kennyo lived in the reconstructed Honno-ji Temple as a wedding gift from the Oda forces.
There was no further issues between Kennyo and the others. After all, they were getting older and no one would want to make you upset. You were still friends with many of them, especially with Ranmaru. He was someone who would deliver the gifts from the warlords to you, especially when you were with child.
Kennyo was ecstatic when you were pregnant, but he was scared. Looking back then, Kennyo would get shy whenever you'd bring it up. You however, would tell him not to worry as he was a great father to your three sons.
Kyounyo, Junnyo and Kenson followed in their father's footsteps, specialising in several different aspects of the religion. Kenson, the youngest of all three however, was the most interested in travelling, most likely from the stories he'd hear from Ranmaru and Motonari.
Your three children easily mingled with Motonari's, but you always wondered why Ranmaru never settled down. He was still doing his own work, which worried you enough as he was almost a workaholic like Hideyoshi.
Kennyo's birthday rolled around, so you decided to make a special party for your husband. As you focused on the food, you tasked your three sons with work to distract their father as Kennyo's other subordinates helped with the preparation.
"Father! I wanted to ask you about this text!" Kenson carried papers about a sermon to his father, as he saw his father exit the main temple with a package in hand.
He held out his hand to his son's head, ruffling his hair. "I'm afraid not today, my son. I have to see your mother."
"Wait, but father-!"
One by one, they all failed and the surprise was ruined, but Kennyo wasn't aware of what he had done. He was so focused on giving you the said package. He only notice what he did when he saw the disappointed face of his wife, a face he was indeed weak to.
"YN-! Apologies my wife... I'll pretend as if nothing happened..."
"Father... Father has a one track mind huh..." The sons whispered amongst themselves.
Kichou
You never imagined finding a place where you and Kichou belonged. After all, your relationship in itself was out of place from your other friends. That was, until Motonari asked if you both wanted to travel around the world. You were on board, and after much prying, you and Kichou were travelling around Asia.
Most of your post-wedding years was spent with Kichou travelling to many places, although you would say that you both found a place in what you know today in modern Japan as Shikoku. The Island was not far off Motonari's reach, so you had some familiarity with it.
There was no rush to start a family straight away, especially considering that you moved away from the friends you were accustomed to. Kichou's work wasn't interrupted at all, but he did ask Motonari to help you out with finding what suited you. Somehow, someway, the assistance popularised your kimono work not to mention your fans from Azuchi and Echigo travelling to commission your work.
It was smooth sailing financially, and sooner down the line, Kichou asked if it were alright to adopt children. You agreed, and you found yourself raising a pair of twins with Kichou. They were fraternal twins, but they were quick to adapt to you and Kichou's home.
Kichou enjoyed the family life much more than he thought he would, and he realised it the moment you said your son expressed an interest in marriage to one of the village girls.
Your son, Yoshitatsu, bowed to his father as Kichou listened to his appeal. Kichou was loving but at the same time, he was strict with the twins.
"Father! Please let me marry this girl!" He bowed deeper, pressing his palms to the floor.
Your daughter, Myoinni wasn't around since she decided to be a part of the Uesugi army. Your son instead focused on business, which you assumed was where he met this girl.
Kichou was silent, but a soft nod was enough for your son to jump with glee. You rubbed your hand over his, giving him a kiss on the jaw. You felt him lean into you, so of course you praised your husband. "Kichou... You did well."
Motonari Mori
He was someone who you thought wouldn't be one to settle down, but Motonari was much more attentive than you thought. He knew that one day, he'd have to stop but he'd want to make sure that you were alright with whatever landing spot you chose to stay at.
After much deciding, you and him reached an end point of perhaps moving to the Aki province, his hometown. At first, he was uptight about it since he didn't want his family to meddle with you. He wanted to keep you away but the way you loved his hometown... He couldn't help it.
He had to gain control of his clan before he brought you in... Although it was a faster process than expected since you were pregnant... Which was not planned...
It took about a year for Motonari to accomplish it, but by his will he was going to make life comfortable for you and your first son, Takamoto. It was great for you and Motonari then on, and most in the Aki Province knew you as Lady Mori. You and Motonari may have also adopted a few children, totalling your children over the years to 12.
There wasn't much to complain about... except for the fact that Motonari had a naming gig... Which made things difficult...
"Moto! Help me with this-"
6 boys... and your husband... came running... Then you had to choose which one to help you and it wasn't even all of the children. "No no... I only wanted Motoaki to help me..." You said.
The other boys and your husband made protests about it, asking why you wanted that specific brother.
"What? Is it because Motoaki's good at arithmetic?" Motoharu asked.
"Like you could ever do arithmetic..."
"Shut up Motoyasu!"
"Oh yeah? Fight me Motomasa!"
"How undignified..."
"Don't try to be the proper one here Motokiyo!"
Motonari was the one who could break up the fight, but he didn't want to. You sighed, going back inside where your three daughters were as your nine sons and Motonari battled it out...
"Girls, let's go out to eat..."

Brainrot Kinktober Mlist
The best way to get over someone is by getting under someone else. But that’s not why you texted Suga to come over. He was going to help you numb the pain of your breakup in a different way- the both of you getting insanely high. That was your ritual. Whenever one of you got dumped, the other would bring their stash, and you’d drown your sorrows in several bowls. After all, no one likes being high alone, and what else are best friends for? If anything, he’d be there to listen to you vent.
“I’m not going to say I told you so if you don’t,” he said as he walked through the door of your apartment. Before meeting up with you, he had just gotten stood up for the third time by another girl he was seeing. Taking his shoes and jacket off, he handed you his stash box. You blew a raspberry at him, bounding toward your room. You’d already had the lights low, and your speaker blasting music for the optimal vibe- which just so happened to be “all men-and the girl that stood Suga up- are trash.”
You sat on your bed as he came in behind you, grabbing your bong from its place on your shelf and sitting on the other side of the bed. Slowly and meticulously you had started to grind a portion of the quarter he had bought over.
“So what even happened,” he sighed as he began to pre-roll a few joints for you both.
“You sure you want to know?” You gave him a raised eyebrow.
He winced, getting the hint.
“Okay, maybe I don’t,” he laughed.
You hadn’t been with your now ex long, but it was no secret to any of your friends that you weren’t very happy with him in regards to your sex life.
The first few billows of smoke filled your bedroom from your lips, ending in a cough as you passed your bong over to Suga.
“God I hate this thing,” he chuckled, sparking the glitter encrusted glass. He took a feel inhale, the sound of the bubbling popping in your ears.
“So ugly,” he blew out. A light cough escaped from his lungs as he examined your piece.
“Fuck off,” you laughed back, snatching it from his hands. “It was my birthday gift from Yachi, and I happen to love it- she decorated it all on her own.” As you rubbed the cold glass with pride, a plastic letter popped off, sending you both over a barrel with giggles as you tried to gain your composure for another hit.
You shifted yourself to a more comfortable position on your stomach as you changed the song on your phone to something more mellow, reaching down in front of you to grab your snack stash below you before finally fully settling in and taking a few more hits, letting the familiar feeling of fuzziness overtake your senses.
Once both of you were comfortably numb, you moved the box in between you two, scooting closer to Suga for warmth. He tossed the hem of his flannel over your feet, the soft fabric somehow feeling even softer as you fixated on the texture in your inebriated state.
“Was he really that bad?” He sighed, sitting up next to you and grabbing another handful of Cheeze-Itz. Your trance on the plaid pattern broke as you felt your stomach drop just a little thinking about your ex.
“I mean… I never…” you trailed off a bit, body pricking with an uncomfortable embarrassment that was definitely harshing your high.
“I never came once. Literally 3 months of my life, and I didn’t.”
“Yikes,” Suga breathed out. He didn’t know exactly what to say, the drugs in his system impairing his normal supportive demeanor. You could tell he felt bad for you, but at the same time, he wouldn’t remember any of this come tomorrow morning.
“Well you know, the best way to get over someone is to get under someone else…” his voice wavered, taking a drag of a joint he had left sitting in your ashtray.
“You’re so gross,” you huffed, giggling at him. “That’s not true anyway!” You flopped backwards on your bed, laughs softening as your head hit your pillow- your foggy head resting mere inches from his as he shifted to accommodate your new position.
“It would be if you were under me.” Smoke plumed from his mouth in a few rings as he stretched to lean back into your mattress.
There was a still silence for a second, but it felt like hours. He looked over at you with low eyes through the LED tinted haze. As red and glassed over as they were, they were still the most beautiful thing you’d ever seen. He was too gone to notice you were staring back. Without warning, he sat up, hooking a leg around you and taking hold of your wrists, looking down at you with lustfully hooded eyes.
“What if,” he started, a lazy smile enveloping his face.
“What if I made you cum? Would you be over him?”
You were entirely too high to comprehend the question, let alone protest it- especially because it had been something you’d wanted for so long. It couldn’t be real, he was just off his ass… there was no way this was happening… right?
You simply nodded at him, mouth agape- giving him the go ahead. His grin widened, pleased to be given the chance.
“Let’s get those pretty eyes rolling, then,” he breathed, lips already moving against yours, trailing kisses down your neck and chest, slowly sliding your leggings down and away from your body. You arched your back into him, making haste to pull his shirt over his head and toss it somewhere in your bedroom. Suga pushed you back, a wash of confusion blanketing your face as he stood at the foot of your bed.
“This is about you right now,” he chuckled, kneeling down and grabbing your ankles. “If you’re not too fucked out afterwards, then maybe we’ll get to me.”
What a tease. But his words were velveteen against your ears as your core started to heat with desire of what it would possibly be like to be able to get to him.
His motions were fast but everything around you felt slow. Propping your legs up and apart, he gave one last glossy-eyed look at you. Your jaw was slacked with anticipation as he brought his fingers to your mouth. You coated them with your own spit, just enough to wet them a little, never once taking your eyes off of Suga. You traced his every move as he lined his slicked digits up at your poor, neglected slit, which was already soaked in anticipation of him. Slowly, he sunk in one finger, then another. You were already clenching your walls at the mere feeling of friction.
“Greedy are we?” He laughed, slowly adding in a third finger, filling you completely. Your long drawn out moan was response enough to him as he started to move, slowly curling them against you. You began to move as well, begging for more friction only to have your bottom half pinned into place by Suga’s free hand. The swimming feeling in your head made you feel even more sensitive to his touch, as jagged breaths left your lungs.
“Stop squirming, baby,” he cautioned. “I’ve got you- I promise.”
“Please, just… please don’t stop,” you said, barely above a whisper.
You were met with a jolt of wet heat as he attached his mouth to your core, fingers still slowly pumping as he wrapped his lips around your clit. Even in your fuzziness, your hands found his hair, grinding your hips against his mouth and face, trying so hard to get all of the friction you could as he fucked you on his lithe fingers. A string of curses left your lips as he removed his fingers from you and plunged his tongue inside, swirling it up and then around your clit again.
He detached from you, hooded eyes and a lazy smile spreading across his face as he watched you writhing under his touch. You whined in disapproval, only to be pulled down by your ankles and into his lap on the floor. He placed lazy open mouthed kisses to your own, sloppily dragging his tongue anywhere he could make contact, the taste of your arousal meeting your own tongue.
Humming against your skin, Suga took the lead, hands roaming your body as he twisted you to sit in his lap, back against his chest. He lifted your chin to look at him, shakily breathing as one of his arms found his way between your thighs, lithe fingers tracing against your slit, slowly slipping themselves into you, walls eagerly swallowing them in pleasure.
“I’m going to start moving now, okay?” he said softly, eyes stuck to yours as he curled them in and out. His other hand snaked around your waist, pressing down to your abdomen as you arched your back at the change in pressure. A gargled moan caught in the back of your throat as he sped up, pistoning his fingers directly into the soft, spongy flesh in your core.
You could barely form any coherent words- lips sputtering half praises and soft gasps as he guided you, the butterflies welling in your stomach set to burst through. Goosebumps were pricking your body as he whispered in your ear.
“You’re doing so well, sweetheart. Does it feel good?”
You nodded, the fuzziness in between your eyes coupled with the building pressure in your lower half gave way to a dizzying sensation, a squelching noise coming out from your walls. Your breath hitched in the back of your throat as you grabbed at his wrist, feeling the familiar approach of your high, but even stranger, the burning feeling of having to go to the bathroom.
“I’m going to…” Suga cut you off as he clasped his lips over yours again, fingering you faster and bringing his thumb to your clit. Your screams were muffled by his kiss, a wet release streaming from you as Suga removed his fingers to flatten his palm against your sex, rubbing as fast as his hands could against your clit.
As you came down, you clutched onto him tightly, shaking in the realization of your wetness soaking his jeans. You let out a deep sigh, ears ringing as you entered the earthly realm yet again.
“Never knew you were a squirter,” your best friend teased, helping you out of his lap and up onto the bed.
“I didn’t either,” you panted out.
He raised an eyebrow, scooting up next to you in bed. Your fingers twisted at your t-shirt, fumbling to throw it back on and feeling his eyes on you, still lingering in the heaviness of the smoke that was dissipating in your room.
You looked at him longingly through the vapors, fingers tracing the details of his face as you both lingered in the reality of what just happened.
“So,” Suga sat up, taking your hands in his. “You think you’re over him?”
You nodded.
“But I don’t think I’ll be over you anytime soon,” you said softly.
He sparked up another joint, pulling your face to his as he blew the smoke into your mouth, sealing it with another kiss.
“You don’t have to be,” he smirked. “We’ve got all afternoon if you want to stay under me…”
You definitely did.

i think i love you | pjm
Tumblr media
pairing- jimin x reader genre/tags- fluff, a lil bit of angst, jimin doesn’t know he loves yn, yuna being the cupid she is rating- 13+ word count- 2k words
Tumblr media
Your sullen gaze meets Taehyung’s, his hazel eyes slightly widening in shock and- you spot- worry. You’re sitting at one of the round tables covered with the silky white cloth, plum coloured dress starting to crease from the lengthy amount of time you’d been sitting. At the party. Jisung had wanted to celebrate his graduation with his close friends and family too, so him being your colleague at the bakery you worked at had invited all of your limited staff members. You had thought that it was going to be held at a bar but he had surprised all of you by saying that you would be celebrating in a nice restaurant. Hence, you were wearing the velvet dress with the matching heels Jimin had gotten you for your second anniversary.
Jimin.
Your heart hurt thinking about him, his sweet smile, chocolate eyes and all the other perfect traits about him filling your head. You missed him, a lot. But knew that your break up was good for the both of you. The two of you had dated for 4 years before something just seemed off, it gradually increased and soon, the two of you were just barely having time for each other. The relationship wasn’t healthy, but don’t take it the wrong way! You really loved Jimin and were very satisfied with him for a long time but then, because of your jobs and other work, you just weren’t having time for Jimin. He never abused you or anything. Oh, heck no.
The break-up had been better than your previous ones, honestly. It had occurred at your doorstep- not the best place- but Jimin hadn’t thrown a fit, unlike your previous partners and gotten angry about your decision. In fact, he had acted maturely, one of the things you absolutely admired him for and had said “I had been thinking about this too..” There had been no crying and you were glad that Jimin and you were still on good terms despite being exes. He was dating Yuna now, and really, you were happy for him. She obviously made him very glad and you had never wanted anything other than happiness for Jimin, even if it meant sacrificing your own.
Suddenly feeling tears prick at the corners of your eyes, you get up hurriedly. As you run out, you even ignore Jimin who confusedly reaches his hand out before you’re disappearing outside. You reach the small lawn outside and breathe in, trying to relax yourself.
You hated yourself, the lone reason being that you still had feelings for Jimin. You didn’t know why, how or when. All you knew was that you still loved Jimin, even if the end was 50% of your decision. But knowing that you couldn’t do anything about your unwanted feelings for your ex, you had always kept this to yourself. Just after you officially let him go, you instantly began regretting your decision.
We may have been going through a rough patch but we could work it out.
No amount of bars you drank at helped you forget about your stupid decision but your mind still kept going back to when he said that he too thought that you should break up. He wouldn’t have been happy in the relationship.
Sighing loudly, you’re too lost in your own thoughts consuming you that you don’t notice someone walking towards you. The feeling of a jacket being draped over your shoulder makes you realise that with a jolt and you identify who the clothing belongs to even without looking at it. The smell gave it all away.
Jimin.
Turning around with wide eyes, you see Jimin standing behind you with his hands in his trouser pockets. His gaze is curious and you quickly run over all the lies you could tell him to get out of the situation. The situation being him asking you why you had run out of the restaurant without any words and even ignored him You feel a pang of guilt in your gut- partially from the fact that you know that you’re now gonna lie to him. And hopefully, even get away with it.
You’re in the middle of opening your mouth to tell him that you were suddenly feeling dizzy which is why you headed out without informing anyone but a certain song reaches your ears.
It doesn’t take you even half a second to realise which song it was and before you know it, your eyes are welling up with tears threatening to spill out of your eyes again. The emotions all suddenly burst and a tear slides down your cheek.
Jimin stares at you in shock, before immediately springing into action and pulling you into him. His arms tightly wrapped around you, your head is buried in his chest, and this certain feeling has you pressing yourself closer to him.
As much as you’re enjoying this, you know that Jimin is dating someone else and although his intentions are obviously very innocent, you don’t know if you can hold yourself back from confessing your love for him right now.
Unwillingly and reluctantly, you break the hug, the melody of the song that had been playing when Jimin first kissed you at prom still filling your ears. “Our song..” you mumble and he nods, “I thought they didn’t play anything other than The Police.” he chuckles at your words and his lips part softly, “I had to pay them 20 bucks.” your eyes widen at his words and you lift your head to meet his gaze.
“Will you dance with me?” the memories of all the other times he had asked you to move rhythmically to the beat of a song come flooding back in and you almost nod, before stopping yourself when you remember that a Yuna also existed.
“Jimin..” his pleading eyes make it specifically tough to reject his very tempting offer. “No, we can’t. You’re dating Yuna..” you trail off at the mention of her name and Jimin immediately rushes to speak, shocking you.
“I broke up with her.” He himself looks surprised that he said this but after a few second of the two of you just staring at each other, he closes his eyes for a split second. “Y/n, will you dance with me?”
“You broke up with Yuna?” you completely ignore his question and settle for asking him another one instead. Making no effort to hide the astonishmnet in your voice, you look at Jimin expectantly, and he keeps his hand on your waist, the butterflies in your stomach becoming unbearable at this point. “Yeah, we broke up with each other, to be completely honest.”

“Do you still have feelings for her?” Yuna had never been one to beat around the bush- and Jimin was well acquainted with that- but the sudden straightforwardness she confronted him with left him breathless. “W-What?” he hated stuttering, but this was so out of the blue, he couldn’t help it. They had been cheerily talking to some friends when Yuna had asked Jimin if she could ‘have a moment’ with him. He had agreed and looked at her in worry for any problem she may have been having.
Instead, she had roughly kissed him. Desperately. Her fingers tangled in his hair and Jimin had responded, grabbing her waist but something about the kiss just seemed off. He tried brushing it aside and leaned into her, pressing her into the wall of the small room they were in. Yuna quickly broke the kiss and looked at Jimin for his reaction, his fake smile not convincing her. Don’t get him wrong, Jimin really did like Yuna but just couldn’t picture a future with her. Whenever he had thought about waking up next to his future wife and smothering his children’s faces with smooches- the woman had always been you and their kids had acquired your pretty eyes. He didn’t know why, but supposed that it was because he had spent most of his dating life with you.
Coming back to the present, Yuna let go of Jimin’s black tie and looked down at her feet, gaze not meeting Jimin’s. Looking at her in confusion, he tried lifting his girlfriend’s face to meet his and was met by the one question he had never expected her to ask.
“Do you still have feelings for her?” Jimin was taken aback and scrambled to form coherent sentences as Yuna looked at him in disappointment. She knew all about you and how Jimin and you had shared a very special bond before breaking off. She also knew that somewhere deep in his heart, where Jimin had buried all of his feelings for you, he was still in love with you. One might ask why she had still agreed to date him and her answer was simple. To make the stupid boy realise that he still loved you. It was true that she liked Jimin but similar to him, she just didn’t think he was the one for her.
She tells him this right now, and he’s left astounded once again, this thought never having crossed his mind.
“R-really?” Yuna nods with a sad smile on her face and watches Jimin’s face lose all colour. “Hey, hey. Jimin, look at me. I’m sorry okay? I know this was stupid but I know that you still love Y/n.” Jimin sighs loudly and tugs at his hair, a habit many people around him had gotten accustomed to.
“I think I still love her..” Yuna laughs at Jimin’s obliviousness at his own feelings and puts a hand on his shoulder as he resolutely nods to himself before meeting Yuna’s eyes.
“Okay. So, I’m going to have to break up with you..” his voice falters at his words that didn’t sound so bad in his head but continues anyways “A-And then I’m going to tell Y/n how I feel.” the plan sounds terrible but he has to confess as soon as possible or he might lose his mind. Yuna just nods along with a pitiful smile on her face, she obviously knows that Jimin’s plan was messed up.
“Go get her.” she whispers and Jimin is instantly running off to where he saw you walk out.
Tumblr media
“Oh..” you’re at a loss for words and it takes you a full minute to regain your composure before your tongue darts out to lick your dry lips. Hugging Jimin’s jacket closer to your body, you revel in the amazing scent. Jimin opens his mouth but no sound comes out and he ends up closing it. A silence falls over the two of you.
“Dance with me?” this is the third time he’s asking you and this time, you waste no time in nodding, the coat he had so graciously given you almost falling from your shoulders in the hurry.
Jimin’s hands land on your waist and yours find purchase on his shoulders. He moves both your bodies to the slow tune and you muster the courage to lean in closer. He smirks and you just look at his godly features, plush lips inviting and brown orbs piercing directly through your soul.
You don’t know who initiates the kiss but before you can comprehend it, Jimin’s lips are meeting yours. His arms move to wrap around your waist completely, walking you backwards to someplace you didn’t know.
“Ji-Jimin..” he breaks off with a sweet chu and you simply stare at the beautiful boy in front of you, unable to believe that what was happening was real. “Be my girlfriend again?” his cheeky smile makes it hard to resist pinching his cheeks and you nod with a shy smile.
You both decide not to go back inside and just spend time with each other for now. You try returning his jacket but he doesn’t take it. Instead, he makes you wear it again and hugs you from behind as the two of you walk on the silent street back to his house.
His ‘I love you’ is muffled by your hair but you still hear it, smiling and replying with a short kiss to his lips. “I like how your chapstick tastes.” he snorts in response, but the sides of his lips still curl upwards.
“It’s strawberry flavoured, I’ll buy you one too.”

Day 4, alt: Visiting a Grave
CW graphic death, gun violence, suicide, acceptance of death, and drugs.
The previous two years, she'd shaken with emotion. First with anger, then grief. Anniversaries weren't necessarily special dates; they weren't anything she looked forward to or dreaded, but it was still jarring to realize how much time had passed. She'd experienced a minute of disbelief when she first recognized it'd been a year since her wife was with her.
It was customary in the Earth Kingdom to show respect only towards elders. When parents lost their children, no vigils were held, for it wasn't acceptable to honour those your junior.
It was a practice that thankfully hadn't taken roots in Republic City. Kya wouldn't have cared, regardless. She was hurting, damnit, and that wasn't lessoned because Lin was three years younger than she.
Now, 1,095 days past her lover's death, Kya was finally in a place of peace. Not with Lin's killer, or the circumstances surrounding it. She didn't believe she'd ever accept that.
The two had been walking out to their car after an evening dinner, and Lin sensed an altercation a block away. Kya sat in the Satomobile while Lin cautiously neared, concerned over a potential mugging or assault. It hadn't felt like anything serious, especially compared to what both women had already seen.
Lin used her seismic sense when she'd crossed half the distance, seeing two figures. One was pressed against the wall, the target, while the other stood in front of them, the instigator.
She treaded as quietly as possible, peeking around the corner to assess the situation.
There were two men, both tall and muscular. The assailant held something Lin originally believed to be a small baton, but as it caught light from the streetlamps, Lin saw it was a handgun. They weren't exceedingly common, due to being new inventions that were quite costly, but the amount of nonbenders in Republic City meant they were more concentrated here compared to other nations.
Lin desperately wished for her old spool of cables, but she'd retired them fifteen years prior, and they'd been gifted to the top metalbending prospect at the time of her departure.
The weapon was pointed at the victim, so any surprise attack risked him firing. She instead went for a civil approach, calling from behind the corner, "Step away and put your weapon down." she instructed, hearing his loud gasp.
"Who's there? Don't come close or I'll shoot!" the attacker yelled. His voice was strained, likely from fear.
"You haven't done anything yet, kid. Just set the gun on the floor, and we can talk about it." she replied, using a tone of placating authority. She displayed power without intimidation; the other man was acting on pure emotions, he needed to feel like he had an ally.
"I don't want to talk. That's not going to do shit to bring back my brother." he said, and Lin heard a head hit the concrete wall.
"Killing someone else won't either. It's also not going to make you feel the pain any less. The only thing it'll accomplish is ending your own life as well." she told him, voice softening just slightly. One constant in life would always be violence, and there would always be people hurt by it. Lin stepped around the corner, hands up in submission.
The gunman yelped, swinging the weapon towards her. "Hey, I know you! You're a cop!" he said, and Lin had a full view of his face. He was young; not boyishly so, but somewhere in his early 20's.
"I'm not an officer anymore, but the experience I have means I know exactly how this can end up. I don't want to see that happen to you; there's so much left to experience." she told him, calm under his pressure.
His hands trembled just so, eyes full of pain. "There would have been if it weren't for him!" he yelled, turning his head to the other man.
His face was bloody but he looked otherwise unharmed. "It's not my fault the idiot overdosed, I just gave him the shit." he argued, and the young man clenched more firmly around the gun.
Lin intervened quickly, taking attention off of the loudmouthed dealer, "I know what it's like to lose a sibling. My younger sister. My mom took her side, so it felt like I was entirely alone, but I found joy in my job. In my hobbies and friends. It made that pain feel much more manageable, and I couldn't be happier right now." she explained, eyes not straying from his face.
"I don't have any of that. I just had him." he said, shaking his head.
"For a long time I didn't either. I held onto my anger for decades, and it prevented me from fully enjoying myself. I don't want that to happen to someone else," she told him, "It wasn't until I was 52, actually, until I let that go. I didn't get closure, and the people who hurt me never apologized, but I saw how much harm it had done to me. Shortly after, I started talking to the woman I came to marry. She's the best person I know; beautiful, kind, insightful, she brought out the best parts in me, and I found myself wanting to be happy for her.
"If it's too difficult to feel joy with yourself, would you pity an old woman and feel it for me? I promise you, this hopelessness isn't permanent." Lin said, watching as the man slowly relaxed his grip and lowered the weapon.
"How about you start by telling me about him, hm?" she encouraged. He kept the weapon up, pointed at her knee, but his shoulders had dropped.
"His name was Mingyu. I was eight when he was born, and I was so excited. We didn't have a lot of money, and mom and dad were always working, so I had to look after him instead of going to school.
"I taught him what I had learned, and he was so smart. I got a job to make sure he could go to school when he turned 6. He was so good at kuai ball.
"We lost our dad this year, and Yu took it so hard. I was too busy with my job to see it, but he at school he started- why didn't I just-" the man finally lowered the gun, eyes welling up.
"Kids make mistakes. It's not your fault that Mingyu slipped." Lin told him, taking a cautious step forward.
The man didn't respond, so she continued to close the distance.
Lin straightened, feeling the distinct thud of metal-soled boots. The police had been called before she showed up.
"Hey, give me the gun and we can keep talking." She urged, and he looked up at her, startled by her change in tone.
"RCPD, hands where I can see them!" an officer behind her bellowed. Lin felt a pit open in her stomach, watching the emotions flash across the man's face.
In a moment the gun was back up, four feet away and aimed right between her eyes. "You lied to me!" he shouted, and pulled the trigger.
Kya had heard the shot, and immediately she knew what had happened. She felt a tug in her soul, similar to the feeling when her mother passed, and she sat in the passengers seat for hours, unable to move.
The man who murdered Lin was only 22. His name was Han. He ended up receiving life in prison for killing the former police chief, compared to the 30 he would have gotten if he killed the drug dealer, but he instead hanged himself in his holding cell. He was survived solely by his mother, and Kya deeply pitied her, but it was because of her son that she was now a widow.
It was unbelievable to imagine Lin losing her life there, in the alleyway fifteen years retired from the police force, instead of the dozen times she'd been severely injured, or the hundreds where she'd faced worse danger. Kya forgot, sometimes, in the beginning. She'd return to the empty house and think Lin must be in the backyard, or wake up in a cold bed expecting the smell of Lin's favoured morning tea, tieguanyin, to have permeated upstairs.
Kya had been so achingly raw with pain. She'd felt nothing like it before, where the jagged edges of her grief made her lash out instead, but for months she hated Lin for having left her. Spirits damn her noble nature.
After five months the wounds finally soothed, but she'd been terribly surprised to feel its return when she visited Lin's grave a year past her demise.
She then felt guilt over her reaction; Lin had told her countless times how Kya had "saved" her. Shown her love, and helped her realize to be cared for wasn't negative. Kya wished so desperately just to speak to her once more. To thank her for all that she gave, and ensure Lin knew how deeply she'd been loved.
The second anniversary was when she felt sorrow, but in the past year she'd received news that wasn't altogether bad. It made the third occurrence pass with far less grief.
Kya had been experiencing chest pains and severe shortness of breath. From her own diagnosis, she surmised her heart was giving out, but a healer in the city confirmed it with ease. There wasn't too much surprise given her age, approaching 84, her lifestyle, not always the healthiest, and the compounding emotional experiences she'd weathered.  While she'd never looked forward to death, she found that she was ready for it whenever the time came.
It was almost freeing, sitting in front of Lin's grave without the cloud of overwhelming emotion. She didn't visit her final resting place except for this anniversary, as she'd been buried in the Beifong family's tomb all the way in the Earth Kingdom. Lin had been rigid on tradition that way, even if Toph insisted against it and Su planned to start her own in Zaofu. Kya had only wanted to honour her wishes; being with her mortal body didn't give her a particular sense of closeness. She sensed Lin at random moments regardless of her location, which had been one hint she hadn't yet chosen reincarnation. Her spirit had remained hidden despite thorough searching in the Spirit World, but Kya knew she was only waiting for Kya's time.
And with it nearing, for the first time she faced the gilded headstone with a glimmer of hope.

November, 2022
Jimin woke up past midnight. He saw the moonlight shining through the almost dark curtains, which means it's shining brightly tonight. The next thing his eyes landed on is the digital clock on the nightstand.
12:13 AM
11/07/22
Jimin turned the forgotten television off with a remote and planted a soft kiss on Eunice's cheek.
He saw her let go of the pillow she's hugging to hug him instead. Pulling her closer and hugging her tighter, he rubbed her back gently and whispered in her ear, "Happy 3rd anniversary, bubb."
Eunice suddenly shot her head up, causing it to bump into Jimin's, "We slept! We slept." She said while Jimin rubbed his forehead, "Ow, say sorry." He said with a pout.
"I'm sorry, bubb." She whispered before smiling and kissing Jimin's forehead. "It's just that Rianne-unnie helped me prepare a cake for our anniversary. I was supposed to bring it out at 12 and--" Jimin shut her up with a kiss. "Say it," He said.
"Happy anniversary, bubba." Eunice said, finally letting go of what she had planned. She thought about how many things she planned that never went as it is. Well, Jimin was one of them and she will forever be thankful.
"3 years into our relationship and we already spent our anniversary like this? Staying in our house?" Jimin said while pulling Eunice to lay down again. They faced each other while Jimin played with her stray hair and soft curls, "So what? It's nice staying here. This is our place, we make the rules." Then she paused, "Are you asking me to go out with you?" She asked.
Jimin sighed and snuggled closer to her, "I'd love to, but you're cooking for the whole gang later for dinner. I don't want you to be tired." Eunice pulled the blankets over them as it's just 10 degrees outside, "Seokjin oppa and Rianne-unnie's wedding is in two days. Let's give this week to them, okay?" She said, burying her face on his neck while her arm is wrapped around him.
Jimin pressed his lips on her forehead, "Then do I get to take you somewhere else next week?" Eunice nodded, "Of course." Jimin cupped her cheeks and planted butterfly pecks on her face, "Happy 3rd anniversary, bubba. I love you."
"I love you more, bubb." She answered, but Jimin shook his head. "Nah, I love you more." Jimin was about to kiss her when the curtains suddenly flew open, both of them shocked at it.
"I kinda hate windy days." Jimin murmured before standing up to close the windows. Eunice gave her boyfriend a good stare while he's walking to the window. Jimin is just wearing sweatpants and a sweater, but he still looks very neat. His hair is kinda sticking out in odd angles, but she can never complain. No one ever sees Jimin's bed head except for her, and Bangtan, of course.
In little moments like this is where she feels content and loved the most, "Jimin," She said, just loud enough for Jimin to turn his head while closing the curtains after the windows. "Hm?" His eyebrows slightly raised as he walked and crawled back to bed with her.
"Nothing," She answered. "I love you too, if that's what you want to say to me." Jimin lucky guessed, making Eunice roll her eyes, "Yes." She agreed. "I guessed right." Jimin said happily. "You didn't guess. You just know. If it's me, you always know, like you've known me for 20 years." She said before closing her eyes and rubbing Jimin's back to coo him to sleep too.
While playing with her hair, Jimin spoke again, "What do you think about marriage?" Eunice answered softly without opening her eyes, "Overrated." Jimin sighed, "But I want that with you." He heard Eunice mumble. "Really? You want to marry me?" He asked, as if in disbelief that she wanted to marry him.
"Jimin, bubba, I wouldn't have it any other way. Of course, I want to marry you.. unless you don't want to marry me?" She said with her face buried on Jimin's neck. "I want to marry you! What are you saying?!" Jimin chuckled and slightly pulled away to face her. He cupped her cheeks and stared, "Next week, when we leave, do you want to pick out the ring?"
"Ring?" She asked in slight confusion, although the ring might be included in the conversation they are having. "Your engagement ring." He said. Eunice nodded, "Okay." Jimin smiled again, "Okay, bubba, let's do that." He said with finality.
Eunice said a soft, "I love you," before closing her eyes again. Jimin stared at her for a moment before basking in the comfortable silence. He'd do anything and everything with her, but in moments like this, wherein they do nothing with each other, is where his heart feels most content.
~
Taehyung tapped on the steering wheel impatiently, "Really, what's taking Jungkook and Toshimaru so long?" Lexi tapped Taehyung's arm and brought her phone to her ear, "Come down now or Taehyung will leave the two of you.." Lexi looked at Taehyung's impatient face again, "He swears." She added before ending the phone call with Toshimaru.
The agreement was for Taehyung and Lexi to pick up the two while Yoongi, Gail, Hoseok and Namjoon will ride together in Hoseok's car. As for Seokjin and Rianne, they'll go on their own. It's Jimin and Eunice's third anniversary today and they all agreed to all be present at dinner as Rianne is not allowed to see Seokjin a day before the wedding -- some tradition that doesn't make sense, but there's no harm in following, right?
"Is the couple sure already that they want dinner with all of us instead of spending time alone?" Taehyung asked again, Lexi holding his hand. "Oh come on jagi, Eunice is already cooking. Besides, one way or another, you guys have to bring us there. The girls are staying in Jimin's house until the wedding day, right?"
Taehyung nodded before adjusting his shades, "Jin-hyung and Rianne-noona are the only ones getting married. Why don't I get to see you tomorrow too?" He mumbled, slightly pouting which he purposely showed Lexi. The girl just flicked his nose then kissed it right after, "It's Jin-oppa's last day of being single. Enjoy with him! Besides, we just got back from Daegu and we just had.."
Lexi stopped talking, but Taehyung didn't, "Car sex?" Taehyung said it the same time Jungkook opened the car door, "Ya!!!" Jungkook said, immediately covering Toshimaru's ears.
It made Taehyung and Lexi laugh out loud, immediately apologizing to the two. Jungkook and Toshimaru both hop into the car and off they go to Jimin's house.
~
Hoseok parked his car beside Seokjin’s. They got out one by one -- Namjoon getting out from the front seat side while Yoongi and Gail got out from the back doors. They saw Seokjin and Rianne sitting on the hood of their car, “What are you doing outside?” Hoseok asked them. “Nothing, we just arrived and we’re just watching Jimin annoy the shit out of Eunice while she’s cooking.” Rianne said, tapping the free space beside her while looking at Gail. She sat beside Rianne and looked at where she’s looking. Jimin’s house has a big window on its kitchen, which is why they can view what’s happening inside.
“Let’s just wait for Taehyung and the others before we go inside.” Seokjin said, “And stay quiet. I think those two don’t know that we’re here already.” The others just nodded and leaned in front of their car.
Yoongi saw Jimin pull Eunice and cup her face, “I’m going to bet my life that Jimin is convincing her to sleepover tonight because it’s their anniversary.” Gail wrapped her arm around Yoongi’s neck as he slightly leaned on her while she sat beside Rianne, “I’m with you, baby.” Namjoon nodded, “Actually, no need to bet. I totally agree.”
~
Eunice is busy preparing shrimp gambas for the gang when Jimin leaned on the kitchen counter near the stove, “Are you sure that you don’t want me to stay here or you don’t want to come over our house?” Jimin has been bugging her ever since she started cooking, “No.” She said, hiding her smile while stirring the contents on the pot.
“Ya! How can you be so cold to me?” He said, Eunice just laughed at him. “I’m sorry, baby. They might arrive anytime soon and you’re distracting me!” Jimin immediately objected, “I am distracting you? I’m literally just standing here beside you and playing my good music to you.” Eunice turned the stove off, “That’s our playlist, bubb. You’re just distract--”
Jimin cupped her cheeks, “I’m distracting? I’m distracting?” He teased. Eunice nodded and ruffled his hair. “Stop showing your aegyo to me. It’s not gonna work. I want to spend time with girls too!” Jimin crossed his arms, letting go of her face. He heard the song on their speakers and started singing it, “Hush, when no one is around, my dear,”
Jimin walked closer to her, standing on his tiptoes since he’s just an inch or two taller than Eunice, “You’ll find me on my tallest tiptoe,” He held her hands and stepped backwards, urging her to dance with him. “Really? In the kitchen?” He twirled her and hugged her from the back, “Now, don’t act like we haven’t been doing this for the past years.” Eunice just nodded, “Fine. Fine. Since I’m already done with cooking, I guess this will be my anniversary gift to you.”
Jimin leads her while dancing or swaying, rather, to the music. His lips are planted on her forehead while they move in different directions. Eunice can’t help but smile. She’s not even close to Jimin’s dancing skills, but she thanked the heavens that she wasn’t born with two left feet. When the song is almost coming to an end, Jimin pulled her close and wrapped his arm around her waist and pressed his forehead on hers while singing softly, “I’m still trying everything to keep you looking at me,” Eunice chuckled on Jimin’s intentional singing of the line. She trailed her fingers on Jimin’s torso, “You can absolutely do nothing and I’ll still be looking at you,” She whispered to him. Eunice placed her arms on his shoulders and stared at Jimin’s face. Jimin was about to kiss her as their faces were so close again when they heard a tap on the glass window.
It was Taehyung, mouthing a ‘No.’ before laughing with the others. Jimin sighed and kissed Eunice’s forehead instead, “I swear I love and hate them to the bones.” Eunice just smiled and tapped Jimin’s cheeks before running to the front door and opening it for the others. “Nice timing.” Eunice said before hugging Rianne, Toshi and Lexi in order. As for Gail, they just high fived each other. They were never really the sweetest of friends, but they obviously need each other.
“Sorry, bff. We’re hungry.” Gail said before sitting on the living room couch. “We had to interfere before you eat each other alive.” Seokjin said, clearly teasing, Jimin immediately glaring at him. Both Yoongi and Seokjin gave a paper bag to Eunice with wine inside, “Anniversary gift!” They both said. “Thank you!” She said.
Taehyung, Jungkook, Namjoon and Hoseok looked at each other, eyeing if any of them brought gifts. “Group hug!” Namjoon said, pulling the other 3 boys to Eunice, “Anniversary gift!” Hoseok said happily. “Ya! It’s our anniversary! Not only hers!” Jimin immediately said before squeezing into the hug, making the others laugh.
“Please, let’s eaaaaaaaaat.” Lexi said while pulling the others to the dining table. “Daebak! You prepared a lot, unnie!” Toshimaru said while looking at the multiple dishes in front of her. “Chill, Toshimaru. I can see your drool.” Jimin said, making Toshimaru glare at him. “Shut up, Jimin.”
Namjoon sat on one of the chairs, “Let us all sit down before Toshimaru and Jimin starts bickering again.” All of them laughed and sat. They started eating, conversations flowing easily between them as they talked about the upcoming wedding.
“Everything is so delicious, I think I might start crying.” Jungkook stated before taking another spoonful of japchae. “I agree. Jin-hyung and Yoongi-hyung taught Eunice well.” Hoseok affirmed, tapping Eunice’s shoulder. “Ya! Jimin-ah, thank me.” Seokjin said. “Thank you, hyung!” Jimin said with a smile, even trying to shake both Seokjin’s hands, making the bunch laugh.
Conversation flowed naturally between them, but it’s mostly them teasing each other. Hoseok asked Namjoon if Bianca is coming to the wedding, all eyes turning on Namjoon. “Her work requires a lot of field work from her, even I can’t keep track of her schedule.” He answered simply, taking another spoonful of food in his mouth.
“Are you two finally dating?” Lexi asked while she leaned on Taehyung as she’s already finished eating. “I think so? I mean we already said we love each other.” Namjoon smiled and after what feels like a long time, the boys know that it’s finally genuine, that Namjoon is happy again. “Took you long enough,” Taehyung mumbled. “Hey, you don’t get to say that when it took you a lot of years before dating Lexi!” Yoongi called Taehyung out, making all of them laugh.
After dinner, they all gathered in the living room to play UNO. The first UNO game only had the boys as participants. Hoseok let Namjoon go first while he joined the girls’ group. The winner of the game won’t be replaced, while the losers will be replaced by their partners. It went on like that for hours until it’s just an hour before midnight.
Seokjin and Rianne asked them all to sit on the floor while the two of them sat on the couch. “Ya, what is this? A classroom?” Jungkook asked while Toshimaru sat in the middle of his legs and leaned on his chest. “No, you can’t do that in classrooms.” Rianne humored them, making Jungkook shy and buried his face in Toshimaru's hair.
“Ohhh, baby is awake already!” Gail suddenly said and they all turned their heads to where she’s looking. They saw Minnie, Jimin and Eunice’s cat slowly walking down the stairs. “Are you calling Minnie ‘baby’ because she is a baby or because..”
“Because you’re a cat.” Gail answered, grabbing Minnie and placing her on her lap. “Now, now, can we start?” Seokjin asked. All of them nodded as they all found a comfortable spot to sit. Seokjin and Rianne wanted to talk to them as they didn’t hire an event coordinator for the wedding. They wanted to keep it as private and simple as possible, thus the reason why every member or pair has a task assignment.
“Thank you for your patience and never-ending support, everyone.” Rianne started as she held one of Seokjin’s hands. “Noona, the wedding’s not over yet. Something can still go wrong.” Yoongi mindlessly said. “Thank you, hyung, for the negativity.” Namjoon tapped both of Yoongi’s shoulders, making him shut up and smile to himself.
Rianne glared at him before opening the notes on her phone, “First, for Jungkook and Toshimaru, thank you for fetching Rishi from Ilsan.” Taehyung faced the two, “You already fetched her?” He asked. “Yeah, we did. Why do you think it took us long to go out earlier?” Jungkook asked while Taehyung just smirked. “We had to tell my sister what to do with Meggie while we’re away. What were you thinking?” Toshimaru asked Taehyung while he shrugged the question and waved Rianne to go on.
“Kids, behave.” Seokjin said. Namjoon and Jimin immediately covered their mouths with their hands in awe, “Ya, hyung, you are so ready for married life!” Namjoon remarked while Jimin added, “You even know how to make kids behave!” Rianne chuckled, “Well, we’re not having a baby unless all of you become grown ups.” The rest of the group slouched, “We are grown ups already!”
Rianne nodded just to let go of the subject, “For Taehyung and Lexi, have you picked up all the dresses and suits and most importantly, our wedding gown and suit?” Both of them nodded in response to Rianne. “We got back this morning and we placed the suits on Bangtan’s house while the dresses are still in the car, waiting to be delivered here, ma’am.” Taehyung formally answered before saluting.
“You went to get the wardrobe?!” Jungkook asked while Lexi nodded. Jungkook covered Toshimaru’s ears before asking the two again, “Then why did you two had sex in the car?!” Taehyung immediately pulled Jungkook’s ear, “Ya!! Jungkoooooooook!” Taehyung looked at his hyungs apologetically, “It was a spur of a moment, hyungs.. I’m sorry.” He said.
All of them agreed to never pry about Taehyung and Lexi’s sex life since they all tend to get overprotective of Lexi, considering that she was first their little sister before Taehyung’s girlfriend. Hoseok just waved Taehyung off while Yoongi glared at him, “Don’t do it again.” He said while Taehyung whined in response. “Hyuuuung,” Yoongi immediately cut him off, “I mean, don’t let us know again.” Gail rubbed Yoongi’s back to calm him down.
Seokjin cleared his throat and looked at Jimin and Eunice, “For the two of you, have you already ordered the flowers and made sure that they’re perfect?” Jimin raised both of his thumbs up, “Eunice ordered them a month ago, sent them ideas for arrangement, oriented them on the arrangement at the venue. All she needs to do is check them the morning before the wedding!” Eunice nodded, “Yes, and you’re coming with me.” She stated because Jimin’s statement looks like he’s not coming with her. “Babe, I always come with you.” Jimin answered before smirking and winking at her. “Babe,” Eunice sighed.
Yoongi scoffed, “Mwoyaaaaaa? Jin-hyung, I swear! These kids!” The others can’t help but laugh while Gail said, “Now, say sorry to your grandpa.” Both Jimin and Eunice bowed their heads, “Mianhae, haraboji.”
“Calm down, Yunki! We are all sleeping apart tonight and it’s almost midnight so we need to finish this fast!” Seokjin said, level-headed. “Hoseok, how about the lights, technicalities and sound equipment both for the wedding and reception?” Hoseok raised both of his thumbs up. Seokjin nodded, “Namjoon, venues?” Namjoon nodded. “Already rented the beach, the hotel, and the reception area.” Rianne mouthed a ‘thank you’ to Namjoon.
Rianne faced Yoongi and Gail, “Have you invited everyone we told you to and talked to the people needed?” Gail immediately nodded, “Yoongi talked to them all.” Hoseok looked at Yoongi, shocked, “Jinjja? You talked to them all? You hate talking!” Yoongi smiled softly to Seokjin, “Come on, guys. It’s Jin-hyung.” His tone suggested that this might’ve been the last, best thing he can do for Seokjin before he gets married.
Seokjin mouthed a ‘thank you’ to Yoongi, while everyone stayed silent. It’s not everyday Yoongi openly shares his care for someone. Rianne is the first one to break the ice, “So, that’s it! Guess we’ll just be waiting for the big day then.” Everyone nodded and stood up.
Some of the boys went outside to get the dresses from the car. After successfully leaving the dresses in the living room, they all bid their goodbyes to the girls. Namjoon was the first one to say that he’s going out, “I’ll be in the car waiting for you, guys, Bianca’s calling.” He said, waving with his phone. “You coming, Hobi?” He asked since he knows that the other guys will individually say goodbye to their girls.
“No, you go. I’ll wait for them.” Hoseok smiled reassuringly. He knows that they all think about him in moments like this, but he wanted to stay, he wanted to watch. To be honest, Hoseok feels nostalgic all of a sudden. They’ve come a long way and even though it’s just Seokjin getting married for now, he can’t help but think about the others too.
Jimin peppered a lot of butterfly kisses on Eunice’s face with his hands on her cheeks, mouthing a lot of ‘I love you’ and ‘Happy anniversary.’ to her. Yoongi kissed Gail’s forehead and said, “See you in a day, baby.” while Gail teased him saying, “Yeah, don’t miss me too much.” Yoongi snickered, answering her, “You wish.” which made Gail laugh while watching Yoongi walk out of the door. Taehyung just walked away from Lexi, not saying anything to her. “Ya! Kim Taehyung!” Lexi shouted when Taehyung was almost at the door. He giggled and ran back to her, pulling her to a bear hug, “Bye, jagi. I love you.” Lexi hugged him back tightly, tapping his back, “Okay. Bye, jagi. Love you! Have fun!” Taehyung nodded before walking away from her.
Hoseok smiled at that. All these years, they’ve been treating Lexi as their baby, but to her, Taehyung will always be the baby. His thoughts are interrupted when Jungkook enters the house again with a gaming laptop. “Jungkook!” Rianne scolded him when she saw Jungkook handing the laptop to Toshimaru. “Noona, one game! I swear!” Toshimaru laughed out loud, “Bubby! We can clear the level after the wedding!” Jungkook shook his head, “No, no! Tomorrow, bubby, please!” Toshimaru is still laughing, “One game tomorrow and if we don’t get past the level, we’re continuing after the wedding!” Jungkook compromised and smiled like a bunny to her. He kissed the top of her head, “Thank you, bubby! Tomorrow, okay? Love you!!” He ran outside too.
Hoseok stood up from the couch, throwing a look at Seokjin who was still busy staring at Rianne before going outside. “What?” Rianne asked when she noticed Seokjin staring at her. “I’m excited,” He giggled. Rianne smiled at him, “Two more nights, love. Go now.” Seokjin pulled her to a hug, “Don’t want to.”
Rianne laughed, tapping his back, “Two more nights and we won’t have to say goodbye, only goodnight, my love.”

Bangtan’s old dorm
Yoongi opened his eyes, accidentally bumping his arm on the pole of the double deck bed as he stretched his arm. “Oh,” he softly murmured when he realized where he is. After stretching, he looked around the room, softly smiling to himself. He saw Seokjin awake already while the others were all deep in slumber on double deck beds.
“I’m going to make breakfast,” Yoongi mouthed to Seokjin which the elder just nodded to. Seokjin watched Yoongi slowly get down from the upper bunk and walk outside the door. Seokjin heaved a deep sigh and stared at the others who were still asleep. He smiled to himself, remembering how the boys surprised him last night by instead of driving to their house, they drove back to their first dorm -- the one where they sleep on double beds in one room.
He sent a good morning message to Rianne before getting out of bed too. In no time, he can already smell Yoongi’s fried rice from the living room before chuckling to himself, realizing that their place before is not really big enough to not smell everything inside. Standing beside Yoongi who’s busy stirring the rice, Seokjin asked him, “What are you guys planning? Why are we here?”
“Hyung, no cheating! Why are you asking Yoongi-hyung.” Namjoon came out all of a sudden, placing his arm over Seokjin’s shoulder. The boys went out of the room one by one, rubbing sleep off their eyes. “I don’t even have any idea why we are here in our old dorm instead of our house. Give me a hint!” Seokjin casually forced Namjoon, shaking him.
“Since we can’t have the normal bachelor’s party,” Taehyung answered him while stretching then Jimin chimed in, “..where we can have girls.” He said. “Ya, hyung.” Jungkook eyed him, making Jimin laugh. “You know I will never cheat.” He murmured while Hoseok rubbed Jimin’s back, “I’m sure Jungkookie is just making sure.” Namjoon suddenly laughed, facing Jungkook, “Look at Jungkook always bickering with Eunice yet he’s the first one to check if Jimin is cheating.”
Everyone laughed but Jungkook doesn’t like being teased or being the center of attention so he’s quick to wave them off, “Since we can’t have a normal bachelor’s party, we’re going to re-live our journey since we met!” He giddily informed Seokjin, making the eldest eyes widen, “You mean we’re here because we’re going to practice No More Dream downstairs?” Seokjin laughed, thinking about how the boys were pranking him, but none of them laughed.
“You guys weren’t joking.” He realized.
~
Next thing Seokjin knows, they’re literally dancing hard to No More Dream. He wanted to smack the boys for making them do this a day before his wedding, but while doing it, he can’t help but feel nostalgic. They were all laughing as some of them kept on missing steps, but Taehyung still knows the choreo flawlessly.
After a round of dancing to their old songs, the boys dropped to the floor, panting and staring at the fogged up mirror in front of them. No one was talking when both Yoongi and Taehyung sat up, both saying, “I’m proposing tomorrow.” Both of them looked at each other and said, “What?!” Hoseok laughed and clapped at the scene, finding it very funny.
The others are staring at Yoongi and Taehyung, laughing with Hoseok. “At the wedding, hyung?” Taehyung asked while Yoongi nodded. “No, hyung! Let me go first!” Yoongi snickered, “Ya! I’m older than you, I should propose first!” Taehyung shook his head, “No, no. I should do it first, please, trust me.” The other five boys are just looking left and right on whoever is speaking as Yoongi and Taehyung keep bickering on who will go first.
“I am the eldest after Jin-hyung! I should go first! We always do things in age order!” Yoongi scowled, more like said in pout. Namjoon and Hoseok immediately eyeing Yoongi, “Hyung, that’s like pressure for us!” The 94’s belted out, Hoseok pouting while thinking about Maine.
Flashback, 2019:
“My parents wanted me to marry a man I’ve never even met. I mean, I met him, formally, but not really.. get to know him.” She confessed. Hoseok’s eyes widened, “But Anna, you can’t marry a man that you just met.” Hoseok jokes, although Maine can see that he is already faking his smile.
“I don’t want to marry him. They told me that the marriage has been arranged ever since I was fifteen! I’ve had enough. This is my forever we’re talking about, not just some pesky part of their business deals!” Maine crossed her arms in frustration, her eyebrows almost close together because of her scrunched forehead.
Hoseok pulled one of her arms, held her hand and kissed the back of it, “I know we don’t have anything established right now, but I’m sure as hell that I don’t want you marrying someone you don’t even know.” Maine looked at him endearingly, biting the inside of her lower lip to hold back the pout that she was about to do, “Thank you.” She mumbled.
“Nah. Thank yourself. You’re too lovable to give away just like that.” With his eyes focused on the road, he let out a soft smile, not knowing when can he tell her that what he doesn’t want is her marrying someone that is not him.
End of Flashback
Hoseok was pulled back to reality when he heard Yoongi’s voice, “Then Jimin will go after me!” Yoongi pointed at Jimin, not wanting to back down with his argument that they do it by order. “Huh? Why are you including me in the conversation?” Jimin nonchalantly asked while Taehyung gasped with wide eyes, “You don’t want to be included because you proposed already? Am I right?!” It’s Jimin’s turn to have wide eyes, “How? How the fuck..” All the boys turned their heads to Jimin, “..did you know?”
“Soulmate things.” Taehyung said, smirking at him. “So, how was it? How did you do it? How should I do it tomorrow at Jin-hyung’s wedding?” He bombarded Jimin with questions while Yoongi immediately cut Taehyung, “Ya! Ya! I’m telling you, Tae, it’s me who’s going to propose first! And congratulations, Jimin, I assume she said yes?” Yoongi smiled at Jimin sweetly, trying to revert the attention back to him, “Yes, she said yes.” Jimin smiled and Yoongi looked back at Taehyung again.
Flashback:
The sun was shining through the blinds which didn’t last long as Taehyung closed them before he started playing on his PC. While setting up, he went to grab his eyeglasses from the nightstand’s drawer. He caught a glimpse of a red velvet box that he’s been trying to open since a month ago. Well, he was supposed to propose to her last night, but he forgot about it as they were having so much fun.
As early as 8 AM, he’s already up and gunning people down on the game that he’s loved for years. Lexi usually goes for a morning jog to stay in shape even when training is on hold that’s why Taehyung still has his alone time. He glanced at the clock and upon seeing that he still had time, as Lexi usually arrives at 10 AM, he opted to enter another ranked game. He was about to click his mouse when the front door suddenly opened, Lexi running to the bathroom while Taehyung’s eyes followed her figure. The door immediately closed while Taehyung chuckled to himself, turning his attention to his monitor again, “Had too much wine last night, jagiya?” He teased her as she has never been accustomed to wine.
Memories of last night flashed by his mind -- the movie, him and Lexi having late night snacks and wine, her getting tipsy and both of them ended up dancing in the living room with wine glasses raised up in the air. It was a blur with all the laughter, dancing and inside jokes. His mind is about to fly to the wildest part when Lexi suddenly sits on his lap sideways and hugs him, burying her face on his neck just so she won’t bother him.
“Everything alright, jagi? Hangover? You should not have gone for a run.” Taehyung’s tone is gentle, caring, comforting even. Lexi nodded and mumbled something on his neck while Taehyung was still busy clicking on his keyboard and mouse, “What’s that? You want croissants?” He chuckled at that, “We don’t live in a French neighborhood, jagi, but good thing I can have those delivered. Let me order for you first.”
Even when playing, he picked his phone up and opened the food delivery application. Lexi eyed her oblivious boyfriend, “Stupid. I’m pregnant.” She muttered.
End of Flashback
Jungkook stood up and waved Yoongi and Taehyung off, “Wait wait! Stop arguing! Let’s just leave it to fate, shall we?” Hoseok rubbed his hands together and faced Jungkook, “Oh, oh. This is exciting!” Jungkook wiggled his eyebrows, “Whoever from the girls catches the flowers, then?” He asked the two boys, waiting for them to approve.
“Aigoo, Jungkookie. You’re leaving it to fate just because it’s not your proposal.” Seokjin pointed out. Namjoon stared at the foggy mirrors and heaved a sigh, “We can actually agree with Jungkook’s suggestion, honestly. At least both Yoongi-hyung and Taehyung have fair chances.” Yoongi crossed his arms with a pout on his lips, “Fine, but just so you know, my ring is ready.”
“Mine is ready too, hyung, but okay.” Taehyung just agreed while looking at each of the boys, trying to gather up the courage to tell them why he feels more strongly about proposing now than ever.
But he couldn’t. He’s sure that his hyungs will pounce on him.
~
After having lunch in the restaurant near their old practice room, the boys decided to gather their things and go back to their present home. They all walked to the car, no one catching Seokjin being left behind and staring at their first and oldest dorm. He sighed and touched its doorway, “Where it all started, huh?” He chuckled and watched the boys’ backs as they walked to the car. Seokjin silently said goodbye to their first place, flashback after flashback of their time there came in his mind.
This is how it feels like to move to another chapter, huh, he thought to himself as he followed the others to the car, being the last one to enter. “You okay, hyung?” Hoseok asked Seokjin, staring at his pinky finger. “Yeah, of course. Just feeling that I’m really getting married tomorrow.”
Namjoon drove the car to their present house. Ever since Namjoon got a driver’s license, they always tease him to drive to test his skills out. It's been years and Yoongi still tells Namjoon to drive to test his skills out which became an inside joke to them.
Even with a few years passing already, they still play Eight whenever they’re in the car together. It’s Seokjin’s favorite time to make Yoongi all flustered as he showered the song with praises along with his mixtapes. At the back of the car, the maknaes are busy talking about games, Jungkook being the most competitive. “Well, me and Toshimaru are about to finish the last quest!” Jimin snorted at that, “Damn, I think Eunice is going to finish that alone.” Taehyung flicked Jimin’s forehead, “That’s cause you’re too lazy to play then you complain about not being good at it, stupid.”
Jimin snorted like a duck and stared outside the window, “One day, I’m going to get good at games.” Both Taehyung and Jungkook laughed at his statement while they pat Jimin’s shoulder, “Hyung, we are not getting any younger. Get to it faster.” Jungkook smugly said which earned him a playful punch from Jimin.
Seokjin is sitting in the middle, softly smiling to himself as he listens to the banters of the younger ones. He knows he’s going to miss this. Whenever they’re all at home, he usually stares at the others in amusement at how long they can keep teasing each other. On days that he doesn’t feel lonely, he joins the teasing games too, especially when they’re teasing Jungkook.
Namjoon smoothly entered the garage, making Seokjin feel nostalgic for the nth time today. It’s going to be last time he’s going to call this house his home. His things are packed already as Rianne and him already bought a property just a little outside Seoul. They already coordinated with their helpful staff to deliver his stuff to their new home tomorrow since Seokjin and Rianne still have a few more nights in their rented penthouse for the wedding.
They entered the house one by one, the boys going to their rooms and freshening up a little bit. Seokjin sat on the living room couch then sent a message to Rianne that they’re already home. The last message he got from the other is that her and the girls are all having a good time. Hoseok plopped on the space next to him, looking up at Seokjin, “You nervous for tomorrow, hyung?”
“A little. I might be saying my wedding vows by this time tomorrow and out of nervousness, I might crack a dad joke.” He chuckled at his own stupidity which made Hoseok tap his thigh, “You’ll be fine! I am so excited for you!” He cheerfully said, his bread cheeks making a full show at how genuine he smiled at Seokjin.
“I’m excited for you too.” Seokjin answered, making Hoseok’s eyebrows furrowed. “For me?” He asked, confused. Seokjin nodded and wiggled his brows, “You know, there’s a lot of girls you don’t know in the wedding. Maine would love it if you’ll find happiness again. I found and I’m holding on to mine and that’s what she’ll want for me, so do what she wants for you.”
Hoseok hissed a little and shook his head, “Hyung, it’s you and Rianne-noona’s day tomorrow. Don’t worry about me.” He played with his pinky finger and smiled to himself, “If I do meet someone, I’m open for it anyway. If I don’t, then that’s okay.”
Seokjin was about to say more but the boys started to file in the living room one by one. They already changed clothes and are ready to bond all night. “Jin-hyung, we’re going to make your ears red until they explode.” Jimin slyly said and smiled wickedly. The boys positioned themselves on the couch, almost the same as how they were seated in their music video of Life Goes On. The boys didn’t notice, but Seokjin did, making him smile subtly again.
The maknaes played videos after videos of BTS compilation clips that are Seokjin focused. “Aigoo, why are you doing this? It’s my wedding, not my birthday!” Seokjin complained with red ears. Namjoon tapped his broad shoulder, “That’s what you get for being the first one to move out!”
They sang karaoke that night, ate a lot and drank moderately. By the time the night is about to end as they’re all spent, all of them are lying down on the living room carpet and staring at the ceiling. “I am going to miss this.” Jimin muttered and Yoongi nodded. Taehyung ruffled Seokjin’s hair as they’re next to each other, “I’m going to get married next!” He enthusiastically said which earned a shout from Yoongi’s opposition. It made the others laugh. Jungkook kicked the air and turned to Seokjin, “Jin-hyung! I am going to miss you. You will still play with me right even if you move in with noona?”
Seokjin nodded and turned, sitting on the carpet. He stared at the boys one by one. “I am so glad that I spent my youth with you, guys.” He started which made Yoongi scrunch his face, “Are we going to do this every time one of us gets married? Because if yes, Taehyung you can go next.” He said playfully which made everyone crack up.
“Ya! I am serious!” Seokjin frustratingly said, asking for the other to take him seriously this time. “I am so glad that I spent my youth with you guys and I will not let you go even in the future. We will still see each other because aside from we work together, you know how precious you guys are to me.” Hoseok let out a small smile and rubbed Seokjin’s back while the maknaes moved and clinged to Seokjin like koalas.
Namjoon and Yoongi stared at the scene while Seokjin smiled contentedly at them while acknowledging the maknaes clinging tightly on him, “You know I don’t get all mushy and I don’t talk a lot about my feelings, but since we’re on it anyway… I want you guys to know that although this house may be our home, for me, you are my home. So don’t sulk if I am moving out, a part of me will always stay here. I just moved out first, but you are all going to do it too!”
Seokjin couldn’t add more as everyone jumped on him for a tight hug. Even Namjoon.
~
The boys are all in their rooms except Namjoon and Jungkook who put the food wastes away. Jungkook opened the door to his room, “Goodnight, hyung.” He said to Namjoon who’s still washing his hands. “See you tomorrow, Kook. I’m glad that you didn’t take it badly that Toshimaru’s ex is coming tomorrow.”
Jungkook stopped in his tracks, “Toshimaru’s what?!” Namjoon’s eyes widened, realizing that no one had told Jungkook yet. He quickly wiped his hands with paper towels and ran to his own room, “Goodnight!” Then he slammed the door.
After everything that that guy did to Toshimaru, he opted to never meet him. It’s not like Toshimaru wants to anyway. He just didn’t know that he’s invited to the wedding even if he knows that the guy’s family is a close family friend to Rianne’s.
Jungkook isn’t one to swear, but he found himself muttering, “That fucker.” under his breath before entering his room and slamming the door.
~
It's one of Bangtan's biggest days today. They thought that the endless concerts and performances are their biggest days, until today. The boys are all seated in the living room, looking at each other. Seokjin was the first one to break and laugh. "Oh come on you guys! I'm just getting married. Why are you all so sad?" Jungkook resorted to a pout, "But hyung, you won't be living with us anymore."
Everyone can't help but smile at the maknae. "Aigoo, Jungkookie, it's been a while since you went baby on us. What will the girls say when they see you?" Seokjin cooed. Jungkook just pouted even more, "I don't care, hyung." He went over to Seokjin and hugged his arm.
Hoseok smiled at the mention of the wedding and girls. All the boys have steady relationships now, except for him and Namjoon -- who just started dating Bianca. He admired Namjoon who held up better than they expected. He wondered when will he smile like crazy again.
His thoughts were brought back to the living room when Jimin snapped his fingers in front of Hoseok’s face, “Everything okay?” He asked, concerned. Hoseok gave him a smile, “Just excited. I mean, hyung is the first to get married among us. How exciting is that?”
~
The wedding venue is overall ready. It’s in a dome-shaped venue that is near the beach. The ceiling of the dome is flower-decorated with white lilacs, delphiniums, viburnums and ranunculus -- which gave it a bright, vintage, forest look. The oak chairs are all painted in white which are all specially made for the wedding. The aisle has a cream colored carpet with a print of a monogram logo of S and R to symbolize Seokjin and Rianne’s names on both ends of the carpets.
White flowers decorated the aisle which are all wrapped in makeshift branches to make it look like vases. The entrance to the dome has an arch of flower fillers wherein pictures of Seokjin and Rianne ever since they started until this day has been posted. The latest addition is the boys’ picture the night before which Hoseok just pinned to the arch.
He was about to leave the arch when Toshimaru came, pinning the picture of the girls from the night before. “Oppa, you’re here early!” She said, slightly bowing to Hoseok. “I was the first one to finish tidying up so the guys said I should put the picture in the arch. What are you doing here early?” He asked the girl while she looked away and whispered, “Promise to not tell Jungkook?”
Hoseok teased her, “We’ve been living for a long time now. That is something I can’t promise, but can I try?” Toshimaru pouted and crossed her arms, “Then you’re better off not knowing. See you later, oppa.” Hoseok was about to protest but Toshimaru ran off already.
Hoseok’s phone rang just in time. He saw that it’s the number of his contact for the music equipment. Answering the phone, he walked out of the venue with his hands on his pocket, “Yeoboseyo?” The guy answered immediately, “Hoseok! I have to apologize. I can’t make it today because I have a family emergency.”
He felt his ears ringing and his eyebrows furrowing, “What do you mean you can’t make it today? The couple will be sad if we don’t have mus--” He was quickly cut off by the guy on the other line, “My wife is in the labor room right now so I really can’t go out of here. Don’t worry, I sent someone else to manage my team. They’re on their way there now. I told you, I won’t let you down!” Hoseok was about to ask for the number and who is the replacement but the guy spoke again, “Wait! The doctor went out of the room. Talk to you later!” He ended the call in a blink of an eye.
Hoseok was able to breathe fine again. At least he knows that the one thing assigned to him is still arriving.
~
Toshimaru entered the reception area. Her jaw dropped in awe. It’s still empty of people, but the set up is done already. The tables are already set up with decorations of more small flowers, just so nothing will stand in the way of people socializing. Table napkins are folded to perfection, fine dining utensils and plates are all set on the tables. The ceiling has been decorated slightly the same as the event venue, but less fancy with a disco ball at the middle.
“I’m glad you came.” The man told Toshimaru as he saw her enter the reception area. Toshimaru snickered and turned to the voice she just heard, “I actually hesitated, but since you said it will be quick… Let’s just get this over with?”
The guy stood up and walked over to Toshimaru, “Look, I’m not here to beg or ask you to get back with me. I’m here to apologize for what happened and how I was a jerk back then.” Toshimaru sighed, looking down at the ground as it’s that one thing she has been dying to hear ever since he started hurting her. Whoever decided that she’ll see her ex again on a supposed to be eventful day is sick to the head, she thought.
“Yugyeom, it’s fine now.” She answered softly. He held her hands and rubbed his thumbs on it, “I just realized how I was so stupid to take advantage and let go of you and to even hurt you. I wish your ‘it’s fine’ is true, but whatever I can do to make it up to you and make you happy, I will.” He smiled at Toshimaru as soon as she looked up at him.
She was about to answer when she saw a silhouette at the doorway -- that one silhouette she’ll recognize no matter how near or far. “You don’t need to do anything. She’s already happy with me.” Jungkook said as he adjusted his coat, walking to the two. Toshimaru immediately pulled her hands away from Yugyeom’s touch.
Jungkook stood beside her and wrapped an arm around her waist possessively, “What do you need to talk to her about? Why do you need to talk to her, you.. fuck.” His jaw clenched at that. Toshimaru turned to him as she was shocked by the bad word as Jungkook almost never swears, “Bubby, he just asked for forgiveness. Come on. Let’s leave.”
Jungkook’s eyes are fiery, straight up staring at the guy before him. Toshimaru can’t help but be scared because she never saw this side of him. He’s always soft for his hyungs, for his unnies, soft for her. “Bubby..” She tugged his sleeve again, “It’s fine..” She turned to the other guy, “Yugyeom, just go. Please.”
Yugyeom held his hands up as if giving up and smiled apologetically at Toshimaru. He turned his back on them and walked away. “Bubby, calm down..” She whispered to Jungkook who’s still watching the other guy. “He’s so stupid.” Jungkook remarked, turning to Toshimaru to give her a hug. “At least my current boyfriend isn’t stupid.” She mumbled to his chest and hugged him back just as tight.
“Yes, and your current boyfriend will never let you go nor hurt you.” Jungkook planted a soft kiss on Toshimaru’s head, “So don’t ever leave me, okay? Especially for that guy or for other guys!” The girl chuckled, “Silly, we’re here to celebrate oppa and unnie’s love for each other and here you are getting dramatic about us.”
“Can you blame me? I’m highly suspicious that everyone who sees you wants you.” Jungkook said with a pout, pulling away slightly so Toshi could see his pout. “Jungkook, it’s 2022, from 2019 up to now, I’ve loved you for three summers, three springs, three winters, three summers, and I want them all, I want you in all of them for the rest of our lives.”
~
Rianne stood in front of the mirror, straightening her dress. The girls are all in awe with how pretty she is. She has her hair in a bun with soft curls framing her face with a tiny, dried flower stuck to her bun. Her wedding dress is longer at the back but just the right amount of long to add elegance to her appearance. It’s also decorated with sequins and small embroideries of medical things. The girls suggested placing two rhinestones near her brows, just to add to the sparkle. Rianne had never thought she’d look this pretty, but she is.
“Nervous?” Rishi asked Rianne as she rubbed her back, “Kinda, but it’s Seokjin.. It’s always easy when it’s him.” Her bestfriend bit her lower lip, hugging her tight. “Damn, it’s not even my wedding and you’re making me cry. I am so happy for you.” Rianne hugged her back tight too and looked at the other girls in the room, “No crying! Your makeup will be ruined! We’d look like shit in the photos.” She pouted which made everyone laugh.
Lexi walked over to Rianne as she pulled away from her hug with Rishi, “The question is, are you ready to walk down the aisle?”
~
Seokjin sighed as he stood in front of the church door. He’s wearing an all white suit with a red rose tucked on his chest pocket. His hair is brushed back and he’s wearing all of his finest accessories. He has always been a go with the flow person, but this is just a life event that he knows he has to be at his best. He straightened his suit again as he saw the cue of the church doors opening.
As Seokjin saw the beautiful set up and saw the faces of the important people in both his life and Rianne’s, he walked down the aisle with a smile on his face, slightly bowing to everyone who took the time to come to their special day. As he reached the altar, he stepped to the side with his eyes trained to the church door again, his heart beating out of his chest in anticipation.
He cleared his throat as he heard Shaina Twain’s ‘You’re Still The One’ played in the background. They hired a group of musicians to do another arrangement of it, making it more fit for someone to walk down the aisle. A lot of thoughts are running through Seokjin’s mind, but all in all, he’s nervous, excited and most of all, happy.
Just as when he’s thinking about how happy he is, the church door opens, revealing the love of his life in an all white dress. For Seokjin, Rianne gets prettier everyday and with that, she is the prettiest ever today. She starts to walk down the aisle with a bouquet of red roses in her hands. Since the venue is decorated with white and bright colored flowers, the couple decided to only have red flowers on them. As Eunice told the couple, in that way, it is also a statement that it’s a day to celebrate their love.
Seokjin can’t help but tear up as he watches her get closer to him. Although Rianne wants to greet the people inside the venue, she can’t even manage to take her eyes off his soon to be husband. It’s true, what they say, there’s really that one person that you see and everything else is a blur.
As Rianne reached the end of the aisle, Seokjin went down the three steps to hold her hand and guide her to the platform. “Hello, pretty. I love you.” Seokjin said immediately, which Rianne blushed for. Good thing the veil hid it, “Oh stop it. I love you too, worldwide handsome who is mine.” She walked with him, three steps up to the platform.
He can’t stop smiling and now, they’re facing the priest who will ministrate their wedding. The ceremony started, the both of them participating in full focus, of course. They couldn’t help not smiling at each other out of happiness and butterflies in their stomachs. They both heard the priest say, “Now it’s time for the wedding vows. Rings, please.”
Taehyung walked near them and handed the rings to each one of them, smiling proudly at the couple. Seokjin, being the joker he is, spoke first, “Well, ladies first.” He said, making the others laugh and making Rianne slap his arm playfully.
“You’re lucky that I love you.” Rianne said which Seokjin agreed to, “Yes, I am.” He held her hand and kissed it then smiled softly to stare at her and listen to her words. Rianne looked up to the taller man, the love of her life, and rubbed her thumbs on his hands. “Seokjin..nie,” She stifled a laugh, “Looks like we’ve made it, look how far we’ve come, my baby.” She started, making Seokjin laugh at the song reference, “Hey, listen to me, I’m not just gonna sing, alright?” She licked her lips and gulped, “This whole wedding, you know, the preparation and all, is a blur, but also pure bliss. Do you know why?” Seokjin shook his head and looked at her confused, “.. because while I was collecting my thoughts for this vow, I realized that ever since you approached me that day I was crying, it was also the day that we started preparing for the wedding. We may have not been friends since we were children, but my heart feels like they’ve known you for a long time. Life is supposed to be hard, I know, but being with you is easy. My heart feels content with you. Even when you were busy as an idol, you never made me feel like I am a second priority. With all of that, I am forever thankful, Mr. Kim Seokjin. For that, I will be here forever and for always, making you feel the same way too. I love you.” She said with tears pooling at the corner of her eyes, sliding the ring to Seokjin’s ring finger.
Seokjin sighed at that and looked at Rianne with love in his eyes, making him slightly tear up too. He cleared his throat and took Rianne’s hands over his own, “Love, you know me. I have never been one to think too much, have never been one to make a big deal out of anything, have never been one to stress too much, but meeting you and being with you made me care more about this life than I thought I would ever. You are right, being with each other is easy, but you know what makes me realize how much I love you? I don’t want problems or much to think about, but being in a long distance relationship with you before didn’t feel like one. It felt like hope, like someday we would never have to part ways again. I just know that all is well and I will end up with you.” He looked down at her hands and smiled, “Look at us, here we are. I am so proud of us. Being ‘us’ is easy, but when it gets hard, I would still want to be with you for always and forever. I am not much to talk about my feelings, I swear this wedding vow is the last one.” He cracked a joke, making everyone both laugh and cry at his vow, “But Rianne, my love, I swear to be overdramatic to make you laugh and to be always true to you, the love of my life. I love you forever and for always.” He slid the ring on Rianne’s ring finger and brought it to his lips, kissing it while staring at her crying at what he just said.
The priest smiled widely at the two and raised both of his hands, “I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride.” Seokjin smiled in contentment and raised the veil so he can see Rianne’s face better. “Hi, wife.” He whispered, leaning over to her as he held her waist. “Hello husband.” She answered as Seokjin pressed his lips to hers, kissing her passionately. Rianne wrapped her arms around Seokjin’s neck, placing it over his broad shoulders which made everyone clap at the newlyweds.
They pressed their heads together while Seokjin said, “Now, it’s only goodnight.”
~
Hoseok is sitting with Namjoon on one of the tables, watching the couples dance to Lover by Taylor Swift as Seokjin and Rianne lead them for their first dance. Namjoon nudged Hoseok and smiled, “I wish Bianca was here. I just wish her boss would let her go for once.” Hoseok turned to the sulking Namjoon and when he was about to answer, he smiled. “What?” Namjoon asked, then he turned to where Hoseok was staring.
“I’m here.” She said as she heard what Namjoon was ranting about. “Bianca!” He beamed and stood up, pulling her to a hug. “I thought you couldn’t come? But I am glad you’re here!” He pulled her to a hug again and kissed her all over her face, “And what? Make Rianne-unnie sulk because I can’t attend. Of course, I’ll be here.” She smiled and took Namjoon’s hand, “Come dance, dancer.” She laughed and waved at Hoseok who looked at them endearingly.
Manager Sejin suddenly sat beside Hoseok, tapping his shoulder. Hoseok is staring at the couples’ hands, smiling to himself before turning to Sejin. “Oh, hyung. Yes?” Sejin checked on him, “Having fun?” He asked, making Hoseok smile, “You mean staring at their strings? How did you know I can see them?” The other guy chuckled, “I kinda know ever since the incident or accident. Si Hyuk knows, ever since.” Hoseok chuckled and sighed, “I do not understand why Maine has to go, but I guess seeing these strings mean something for me, right?” He thought about the moment Maine passed away, how he thought his eyes were playing on him because as days go by, he sees these strings on the other members and their partners. He figured it out on his own, until he figured out that Manager Sejin sees it too when he caught him staring at Taehyung and Lexi’s pinkies one time.
Sejin nodded, “Of course. Listen to me.” Hoseok turned to him. “Si hyuk’s job to take care of the strings? You can take it. It is your choice if you want to take it. If you take it, you’ll meet Maine in all of the lifetimes she’ll have. You will always have her. If you don’t then that’s okay too. You’ll still be happy.” Hoseok raised a brow at that, “What? I mean.. wow.” He looked down, thinking of all of the lifetimes he would meet Maine, but Sejin said all of the lifetimes, right?
“Hyung, do you mean I’d meet her and I’ll watch her go away, over and over again?” He said, suddenly feeling cold. Sejin shrugged, agreeing to him. “Hyung,” He sighed, “I love her with my whole heart, I really do, but putting myself in that place where I’ll lose her over and over again is not something she would like. I can help you and pdnim with the work, but to take it up fully, I don’t think I want it and I’m not capable. I want the members to be happy, even if it means I am not fully.” Sejin smiled softly at him and nodded, tapping his shoulders in acceptance. “I understand. The Fates would understand too. Did you know that one of them just accidentally cut off the str--, nevermind. Those crazy ladies.” Sejin stood up and walked away. Hoseok watched him go and turned to look at his hands, sighing. His eyes widened at what he suddenly saw.
The string attached to his fingertip turned white.
~
The wedding party is in full bloom. Everyone has finished dinner and is now eating finger foods, wine glasses are being refilled at every table and everyone is surely having fun participating in the wedding program.
“Time for the flower toss!” The emcee of the wedding said through the microphone, making all the eligible girls stand up, holding hands as they walk to the space allotted to them. Eunice stood up, making the other girls protest, “Ya, ya, ya, you already have a ring! Sit down.” Gail said and pushed her down to her seat. She laughed at that, “Hey, what if Jimin proposed and plans to marry me ten years later? I still need to catch those flowers!” She laughed and ran to the space for the ladies despite wearing a dress.
All of them stood at the space while Rianne stood in front of them, “Ready? Goodluck, my girls.” She giggled and turned her back on them. “3..2..1..” The crowd counted, then Rianne threw the bouquet of flowers to the back. She threw it higher than expected, making everyone stare in anticipation on who will get it as all of the girls talked about not moving at all and just laying their hands out in front of them. Taehyung and Yoongi watched intently, anticipating who gets to propose too. Both of them rub their hands together, wishing that it could be Lexi or Gail.
The bouquet landed on Eunice’s hands, making Jimin stand up and raise his hands as if he won a game. “Yeeees, bubba!” He laughed while the other girls pouted, “Daaamn, I want to go next but sure!” Toshimaru said, acting and winking at Eunice. Gail and Lexi congratulated her and was about to go their seats when Eunice held Gail by her arm, “It’s yours.” She gave the bouquet to Gail, making the other puzzled, “What?” Eunice waved her hand, ushering her to turn around.
Gail turned around and saw Yoongi down on one knee. She didn’t understand why the crowd went quiet when Eunice gave her the bouquet, but she guesses that this was it. “Gail, Abby, baby, whatever I may call you, I want you to know that meeting you is the best fucking thing I got from the internet. Years of long distance relationship was bearable, but when I met you finally and got to hold you in my arms, hug you and everything in between, I know that I need you forever. So with that, may I know if I can hold you this close forever? If I can call you Gail, Abby, baby and for the rest of our lives, my wife? May I? Will you marry me?”
She bit the inside of her lip and nodded, whispering a faint “Yes” as tears slightly pool at the corner of her eyes. Yoongi slid the ring on her finger, “No more backing out now, lover.” He said and stood up, pulling her to the tightest hug Yoongi might have shown to the public eye. “Who said I will back out from you, lover? I love you.” Gail whispered as she was hugged, making Yoongi show his gummy smile, “Lucky for you. I love you more.” Everyone clapped and congratulated them, yet the whole group went over to them to congratulate them closely, hugging the newly engaged couple.
Seokjin waved at a server to bring them glasses of champagne which responded immediately, giving them each a glass of champagne. When the server reached Lexi and Taehyung, Taehyung just grabbed a glass of water for Lexi and gave it to her, making everyone turn their head to them. “Don’t wanna drink champagne?” Jimin asked Lexi, “Nah, I don’t feel like it.” She casually answered, raising her glass and smiling awkwardly. Taehyung showed his good boy smile and raised his own glass, “To Yoongi-hyung and Gail-noona?” He said, proposing a toast.
Everyone was about to toast but Yoongi was quicker to say, “Are you pregnant?” Lexi bit her lip and turned to Taehyung, obviously asking for help. “Hyungs, I can expla---” but Taehyung ran away as soon as he saw the other guys running to him with faces he didn't know if they’re mad or happy for them. He ran to the aisle as the boys went after him, attracting attention from the crowd since the music’s volume was lowered down when Yoongi proposed.
To control the situation, Hoseok ran to the music booth and poked the one handling it. “Hi, can you turn the volume higher so the crowd gets distracted, please? Now.” Hoseok mindlessly said as he watched the chaos unfold as Jungkook grabbed hold of Taehyung’s arm which made everyone catch up to him. “Oooh shit.” He whispered. “Sure, sir.” The DJ at the booth said then turned to him.
Hoseok caught sight of the new girl’s face, “Are you the replacement for--?” She nodded, “Yes, I wasn’t able to meet you a while ago because we arrived late and I wanted to set up ASAP.” She tucked her hair behind her ears and smiled at him.
He swears his heart pounded too much at that sight. The girl before him has the same eyes as Maine, making his heart flutter and drop down to his stomach. He laid his hand out mindlessly again, “Hoseok. You are?” She smiled softly and took his hand, “Of course, I know who you are. I’m Patricia. Nice to meet you.”
Hoseok looked down at their hands as Patricia pulled her hand away from him, then he felt his heart drop lower than his stomach, if that’s even possible.
The string on his fingertip turned pink.

TWENTY OTP QUESTIONS
Tagged by @yennas ty💜
Hmmm. Well I believe I did this a while ago for Sharky/Lo. So let's go for my rarely talked about fo4 otp.
Tumblr media
1) who can out drink the other?Definitely Maccready. Scarlett slams her liquor, consequences be dammed, that 200+yr liquor tastes like ass.
2) who says “i love you” more? Maccready.
3) who has trouble sleeping alone? Scarlett. She's never liked sleeping alone, even before the bombs.
4) who swears more? Scarlett. She's trying for more creative terms, after learning why Mac tries not to curse. She fails. A lot.
5) who does more of the housework? Housework in the wasteland... not much of that happening. Both of em keep their gear clean and wash/hang clothes to dry. Scarlett tends to keep the 'junk' organized.
6) who forgets their anniversary? Listen, sometimes dates fly by without noticing, trying to survive and all. Might be some light teasing the one who didn't notice first though.
7) who steals the duvet in their sleep? Scarlett has a nearly pristine blanket from the vault and Maccready ALWAYS ends up tangled in it. Like no other blanket, just that one.
8) who keeps the other awake at night with their snoring? They sleep in shifts on the road but when they're somewhere safe, Maccready compares her snoring to a pissed off Yao guai. She's a tired woman 😴 she won't deny it
9) who finds stray animals and begs the other to let them keep them? Scarlett. Cats, dogs, rad chickens. It's for the settlements.
10) who usually makes dinner? Tbh they both are shit at eating a real meal, but she did have Danse show her ways to live on more than mutfruit or roasted tatos and carrots.
11) who plays their music out loud? Scarlett. Mac grumbles about alerting enemies but she's seen him playing 🎸with his rifle and lip syncing to his fav tunes. It's adorable.
12) who hogs the bathroom? She takes advantage of lonnggg showers on the prydwyn, no matter how many times shes reprimanded.
13) who gives the most compliments? In the early stages, definitely her. Now it's fairly even.
14) who usually starts/causes arguments between them? 9/10 Scarlett has done something (her attitude, sometimes she flees a firefight, undercharging a job, picking up too much junk) but technically, Maccready starts the arguing.
15) who isn’t afraid to embarrass the other in public? Nothing they do intentionally. She's def causes secondhand embarrassment anytime she gets ahold of some Bobrov's moonshine though.
16) who gives the other cringe worthy pet names? Not their style
17) who fusses over the other when they get sick? Maccready. Scarlett hasn't been adjusted to life after the war long, so she tends to get sick often and he doesn't. Plus he's a dad to a sick kid, he WORRIES.
18) who finds it impossible to stay angry at the other for long? Scarlett because she causes most of the situations to be angry about.
19) who clings to the other for comfort when they’re sad or scared? She does.
20) who is more ‘physically passionate’? (hugs, kisses, or maybe more…) Scarlett doesn't shy away from the pda but behind prying eyes 😏 maccready can't keep his hands to himself.
Tagging from recent notiffs, so as usual, no obligations intended. @minilev @fadedjacket @chyrstis @third-rail-vip @rancorousmendez @deputyash @smithandrogers @deathvalleyqueen

Sonally Headcanon Prompt Masterpost.
Before the Sonsal Celebration Week, Year 2 hosted by @gojira007 for their @boundforfreedomsonsal blog, I began posting a series of Sonsal/Sonally headcanon prompts to help get folks stoked as well as just have some fun. Here is a master post showcasing all three series of prompts with my answers being under the cut. Since this is tied to the blog, I’ve nixed the NSFW prompts in the first set and will make a second post for those by themselves without tagging in the blog.
I can’t wait to see what others respond, while some of y’all did, it seemed like my third series of prompts flew under the radar as nobody replied to them. Oh well, I probably didn’t tag them right XD. In any case, enjoy the goodness! My answers will be below the cut.
1: Pet Names? 2: Habits as a couple they develop together? 3: Favorite ways their significant other shows their affection for them? 4: Their least favorite trait about the other that often causes occasional friction? 5: The moment they fully realized they were in love with the other?
6: How the marriage proposal goes and who asks first? 7: Kids, if yes how many? 8: What would a normal non-eventful evening at home for the two be like? 9: Adoption! Yes/No, Why? 10: Their Anniversary approaches! What would each do?
11: Favorite Vacation they took as a couple? 12: A special gift they gave the other that really touched their heart. 13: Sally’s pregnant, how do they handle the pregnancy ups and downs? 14: Parenting, how do they tackle it together? 15: Which of them is the parent to freak out most when their kid/s get into the dating age? 16: Who starfishes the most? 17: Oh no, one of them is sick, how do they handle tending to their loved one? 18: What do each of them do to ‘cool off’ when they have an argument they can’t seem to reach a compromise over? 19: The Wedding, big, small, or do they just elope? 20: Speaking of weddings, time for one of their kids (or their only child) to get married! How do they handle it?
21: GRANDCHILDREN!! Their kid(s) just made them Grandparents, what kind do you see them as? 22: The years come and go, as they leave their youth and start to get into the years between 50-70, what are they up too, where do you see them in their retirement years? 23: Time to host a family reunion (including extended family like the FF crew) 24: Awwww they’re having their 50th wedding anniversary, how do you see it going? 25: As with every life, there is death. One of them has passed, how does the other handle it? (for context this is under the assumption old age or something related did them in versus a sudden death by accident)
1: Aside from the ‘Sal’ nickname Sonic has always given our favorite Princess; I personally see a few unique nicknames between the two crop up over time as their romance blossoms. Sonic being the quip-meister he is mixes affection with a bit of humor giving us ‘Honey-Munk’ or ‘Fiery Red’. Sally naturally isn’t one to not give her own spin in kind with titles such as ‘Greeny Eyes’ or ‘Hunky-Hog’. Both aiming for endearing but also teasing the other with cheese when not using more ‘traditional’ romantic pet names like honey or darling. Keep them both on their toes.
2: When sitting together and they have a free hand, they instantly go for a hand-hold on reflex. Another one I see them developing is little touches or pets of affection; another ingrained reflex after a time. Say Sonic is about to walk away, he gives Sally’s hair a little playful pet and flick. Another instance is either of them giving the other a quick peck be it greeting, leaving or they have a mutual eureka moment.
3: Sally finds that as much as Sonic’s spontaneous behavior can be exasperating, it can also be endearing when applied in certain ways. Like a back or shoulder rub here and there, when she’s stressed. Pick-me ups when she’s down in the dumps and as corny or awful some of his ballads are, the effort is endearing for Sally. On Sonic’s end, he enjoys Sally just going on runs with him. No mission, no need for any ceremony, he just pops over, asks if she wants to hang, she agrees and they run off and just, enjoy the day. Probably make out somewhere in private too XD.
4: Stubbornness is something both suffer from and their own unique flavors of it can be the force that drives them up a wall. Be it Sonic’s impulsive behavior, or Sally being too cautious, if they don’t see eye to eye, sometimes it takes a while before they reach a compromise. Sometimes it comes fast, others, not so much and when it doesn’t both need space to cool off.
5: This varies from continuity to continuity, but ultimately I feel the mutual feelings of love blossomed naturally and so organically neither truly grasped it until something just happened to push their feelings from the back of their mind, and into the foreground. Whatever this catalyst was it shakes them up into realizing their lives could easily snuff out one day and the regret of not saying the deep-down feelings they have to one another, causes one or both into a confession and it spills from there into ‘daaw’ territory.
6: I myself see Sonic being the one to ask. Not so much out of a traditional romantic gesture; but it’s his nature to grab life by the horns and juice and jam onward. Once he sets his mind to it; he goes for it. Whether he actually plans a nice romantic moment or something more subtle is up in the air. Whatever and however it goes, Sonic is the first to ask.
7: Assuming they want kids (and I believe they do), I honestly see them being happy having however many they wish. In terms of planned children, they’d aim for one and go from there. Given they would only think to have children would be after the war, depending on how busy they are with any rebuilding efforts or in Sally’s case, running a Kingdom, would probably factor into their mindset of however many kids. I could see Sonic envisioning a big family, but happy to settle for one, to two or three once the ‘new baby shine’ wears off. Sally would want to be sure she could actually spend time and help raise the children so I see her being practical about the number of potential kids from the get-go.
8: I honestly envision the two just, vegging to some degree. They could lie on the couch together and cuddle all night and call it a win, or the bed if they wanted to fall to sleep afterward. Whatever the status of the world, and their part in it; they just enjoy being home together and doing something together, mostly to relax. Cuddles, reading books together, bathing, cooking, sex, exercising, playing with their kids if they have any. So long as they (and any family they may have) can spend it together; that’s all that matters.
9: Yes, even if they do have kids of their own, I can see them adopting, either before or after marriage even. Heck especially in story settings where Tails’ parents are not around; he’s instantly adopted as the first kid.
10: Both of them are actually very good at remembering Anniversaries, and both have equally cut it close due to forgetfulness or busy schedules but they never outright forgot and had nothing to show for it. Sonic likes to make Sally breakfast in bed, given she’s often the busiest of the two and could use some TLC. Sally in turn usually wants to handle lunch and for dinner, they pick a mutual haunt and eat out. They often do a small gift exchange, be it something homemade or an item that caught their eye that screamed ‘this belongs to my beloved’. If and when kids come into the picture, usually they’re drafted into helping with surprises by one or both parents.
11: Having lived in the Great Forest for most of their lives; the two have always had an affinity for nature. While some would love a ritzy stay at the swankiest hotel at Casino Night (they did that once and did enjoy themselves), in terms of vacation they truly enjoyed? Their world-tour camping Honeymoon; short and sweet they traveled around finding locals to enjoy Mobius’s natural beauty and spend a few days or a week in said locations. Just them the wilderness and, well all the stuff Honeymooners do ^_~.
12: Sonic found Sally’s picture album during a raid on Robotropolis early in his active FF career. He stumbled across a warehouse where Robotnik kept mementos taken from the Royal Family as ‘gloat trophies’ and so Sonic liberated what he could carry. For the first time since the coup, Sally had pictures of her Father again as well as memories from their childhood she thought lost forever. She never forgot this. In return, Sally on a whim had Nicole stealth hack the Robotropolis network for misc files and found Uncle Chuck’s entries from when he was Minister of Science. The gem of this was, among his work files, was his special chili-dog techniques and recipes saved on file. While the actual science files went to Freedom Fighter use, the personal entries were given to Sonic who could once again recreate the magic his Uncle used to treat him too. Suffice to say in both cases, kisses were had even if in my mind this all happened before they got together.
13: Pregnant Sally is both downright amusing, terrifying, and full of aw and d’aw. To Sonic, it’s a balancing act as he is trying so, very hard to do right by Sally. She needs rubs, he does it however long she needs. Cravings, he cooks them or rushes out to get it if she’s craving a particular take-out item. He hugs her when she has crying fits; tries to keep a cool head when she’s upset for no reason. Mainly, Sonic just tries, and yes he will put his foot in his mouth from time to time; but this is one of those events in his life where he focused on the nth degree. Sometimes to Sally’s annoyance and speaking of whom; it’s well a roller-coaster for her. Her body is changing and her hormones wreak havoc on some days. While never as vain as Sonic can be, Sally feels her self-esteem for her appearance dwindle at times, and she especially hates her mood swings. Most notably the ones where she snaps at Sonic, which often takes her back into the same kind of depression she felt when Sonic was assumed to have died and usually ends up crying and apologizing to him profusely. Thankfully Sonic’s presence and support help her weather everything and the end result to her makes the pitfalls ‘worth it’.
14: Sonic is the ‘fun stay at home Dad’ while Sally’s doing her Queenly duties. That said, Sonic isn’t a slacker at keeping their child(ren) in line. He’s permissible to degrees, but even he’s matured enough to know there’s a fine to tow between being ‘friends’ with your kid and ‘being a parent’. Sometimes he can get over his head, but usually, he can either remedy the issue or he thankfully has Sally to back him up. On Sally’s end, taking cues from her Julayla and Rosie’s book on childcare, she tends to miss lessons with free-form playtime. Letting her children grow and figure things out, while always being within reach to help, and impart advice willingly whether she’s asked too or not. While often tired, Sally adores playtime with her child(red), and however many they have, she never wants to miss out on anything if she can help it. This is a factor both she and Sonic share as they desperately want any child or children they have to know they’re loved and have the security of their parents and loved ones around at all times. While each has their own path in parenting, they both prefer to work together than at odds as neither like arguing in front of the kids (even if it does happen from time to time but they try to avoid it).
15: Both to a degree, each has their own hang-ups of concern whether the child is male, female or they have kids of both genders. Given some of their own romantic miseries during their teen years; they worry about any child of theirs going through anything of the same or really any heartache even if it may be inevitable. However they both don’t want to be overbearing; BUT, both insist on meeting the girlfriend/boyfriend post-haste once they know that’s on the table.
Also yes, they are the types who will discreetly threaten the significant other with bodily harm (even if it’s in pure jest) if they cause their child any grief.
16: They share this one, sometimes one, the other, or both the same night. Depends on who’s the most exhausted. XD
17: Sonic HATES being sick and waited on; so he tries very hard to play it off and handle himself. Sally will have none of that and threatens often to tie him to the bed if he resists too much. After a spell, Sonic begins to accept and even enjoy some of the pamperings. Sally accepts when she’s ill she needs to rest, but she still tries to get work done. Sonic has often caught her with Nicole’s hand-held or some kind of paperwork in bed to his displeasure. Sonic is instantly into caregiving when she’s sick and at times can be overbearing in pampering Sally. Something she has a love/hate thing about.
If they’re BOTH sick, they compromise and lie together in bed, finding cuddling the other to be it’s own soothing balm to whatever is afflicting them.
18: Sonic falls back to his go-to-thing; running. He goes on a run, however long to cool off and think in private as he ponders on the source of their friction. Sally tries to distract herself with some sort of brain-focusing tasks like a puzzle or a good book while mulling over the argument in her head to try and draw conclusions on why it went south and if she or Sonic were in the right or wrong. Eventually, Sonic returns from his run, and Sally puts away whatever she used to cool off and they both sit down and talk it over, eventually working things out and making up for any hurt feelings.
19: No matter how they slice it, given Sally is a Princess, there’s gonna be some sort of big deal ceremony. I do see both Sonic and Sally wanting just a small wedding for their friends and family; especially if they opt to marry before the war ends. Then they’ll save the BIG SHOWY ceremony for after the war. Mostly if they can get away with postponing it that long. XD
On the flip-side, if the story has Max still being a pill about Sonic being Sally’s squeeze; elope, no questions asked. ^_~
20: Assuming the future-in-law is worthy of their child; they will jump for joy and be happy for their kid. Sure they will have some ‘giving away our baby’ jitters, but ultimately their child’s happiness trumps all discomfort they may have. There will be some crying but it will be tears of joy, and if anything their child having a wedding and moving on in their own life would be a great joy in of itself. It would be another symbol that whatever they suffered in the war was worth it. If just so their child could have a safe and peaceful world to grow up and live within; to find their own life and love. No greater joy can a parent hold for their child, especially these two.
21: Once the two stop joy-spazzing over the news, you can expect them to be front and center Grandparents. The parents may have to pry the newborn away from them for the first couple of visits. Knowing how to take care of a newborn can be stressful they along with their in-law’s parents will help split babysitting duties and just enjoy being able to spoil the kid rotten and playfully hand them back to the parents when the going gets rough. Not that they won’t step up, but I feel every new Grandparent doesn’t have that moment of ‘now you see what I went through, ha!’. In any case, they are the type who will be as available and active in their grandchild(rens) life as much as they can be.
22: Age does not slow them down much; maybe in the physical (despite what Sonic says), but these two will be firecrackers even as their fur dulls and greys. Some aspects of old-age will hit them hard, not just in that both are usually very active people, but some genetic ticking time bombs or perhaps past physical trauma from the war years have caught up with them. Sonic will take getting ‘slow’ the most, as running has been his ultimate expression of freedom. Sally will take bouts of forgetfulness hard given how organized and reliant on her mind she is. In this they will lean on each other more, their devotion and love pouring through ever stronger. Sally forgets something, Sonic has it written down and encourages her to keep a pen and paper on hand to jot thoughts down. While Sonic can’t run forever, what running he still can do, Sally encourages. If he’s truly not able to run, then they’ll walk together hand in hand and ‘pretend’ they’re zipping around the city. There will be a lot of sitting together, hand in hand, and since their kid (or one of them) has assumed the throne; they have a lot of freedom to do whatever fancy comes their way. They simply relish the fact they lived long enough to enjoy this stage of life when living to be an adult seemed like such a far off dream.
23: I envision sometime over the years as a Memorium for its role in giving the survivors of Robotnik’s coup, and serving as base and home for the Freedom Fighters and a second home for the people of Mobotropolis; Knothole is rebuilt in its original state. Feeling both nostalgic as well as the importance of Knothole to their history and that of the planet after the war; Sonic and Sally opt to host reunions there. Something about walking through the old village (even if it’s a recreation) just feels nice and getting to show their kids and grandkids where they came from feels right. I can see them alternating on Angel Island as well given its importance in the grand scheme of events as well. Plus who doesn’t love the view from the island?
24: If anyone insists on a big party, they nix it. Only their family and closest of friends that are still around are invited. Being in their 70’s by this point, they prefer simple, and so there’s food and cake, and all the videos and photo albums out to reminisce, tell stories and enjoy life while they still can. Sonic being Sonic will at some point call attention and, with some effort, get on one knee and recite his proposal and marriage vows to Sally again, reaffirming his love which still burns ever brighter. Touched and while happy-crying, Sally will take his hand and affirm her vows as well as her own affirmation that her love for him still burns the same as ever. As they go to bed after the party, both Sally and Sonic cry joyfully as they hold one another. Feeling blessed at having lived the lives they have, and looking forward to however many they still have.:
25: There are a few ways I see this happening. If one of them expectedly passes before the other; the grief will be monumental. Having lived together as long as they have, experienced what they have, and enjoying a deep bong of love few can, losing their significant other will be a blow that they probably won’t recover from. I would expect within one or two years’ time, a combination of the grief and just not wanting to live on without their beloved will see whoever survived won’t make their sweetheart await them long in the here-after. Another scenario is if one of them catches a terminal illness, and they can prepare for it; Sonic and Sally will both make the best of what time they have. With the deadline closing in, whoever is not ill, I can see making arrangements so that once their beloved is about to pass, they will be given a legally approved injection to end their own life. While some of their family may not fully approve, for the most part, such a thing is understood and nobody objects.
One way or another, they will be together, in the next life as they were in this one
[The last one was admittedly a tad sad, but well as they say life ends eventually, and I felt like making the prompts feel like an evolution of their relationship like I did in the fanfics for the celebration week prompts.]

One week and four days.
That’s how close we came to our one-year anniversary.
As it turned out, we actually did spend Memorial Day weekend together, but instead of being cozied up while basking in the success of our love, I had watched as Elliot was escorted out of my parents’ house in handcuffs.
I had always considered myself to be an intelligent, well-rounded person who practiced introspection enough to identify and work on accepting my shortcomings. I could be quite critical of myself at times, but when I had gone through counseling, my therapist helped me understand that people judge themselves through an almost cruel critical lens: once I could accept I was my own harshest critic, I could move forward instead of getting sucked back into a cycle of persecution.
Elliot and I had often talked about self-persecution, but I now understood that it wasn’t just his voice that criticized him. He literally had other selves within that were passing judgement and carrying out their own agendas.
And one of those selves was about to end my relationship with Elliot, all thanks to one of my shortcomings.
Another thing I considered myself to be was more than just my father’s daughter; I had worked all through my 20s to become an individual, to become someone more than just a last name. Nepotism was normal in my world, but something about it always sat uneasy with me. Hemingway wrote about that feeling; he said immorality was anything that “made you disgusted afterwards.”
The more advantages I saw being dished out to people like myself from parents with means made me think about Hemingway’s definition of immorality. I didn’t want to walk through life with a stomach full of disgust, so I set goals with the intent of making a good life for myself and helping those I could.
My father encouraged his children to live with integrity, to practice selflessness, and most importantly, he taught us to be hungry. He encouraged us to fight against complacency because he remembered what it was to be hungry; he remembered what it was to want something, to work for it, and he remembered how meaningful it was to find a purpose.
I knew that was why Kathleen became a doctor. I knew that was why Erin became a lawyer. And I knew that was why Charlie became a teacher.
And I knew that was why I worked at a cybersecurity firm, a business that had the sole intent of providing protection. I had my purpose.
But in that way of upbringing, my father inadvertently bred naivety. I thought more people were like us, especially those of us with financial excess. I knew about nepotism, about greed, about entitlement, but I didn’t really understand those things until Elliot was fired from CIStech.
Ali Olayan.
He was not like me. He was not like my family.
I had read Corey as the greatest threat to Elliot’s well-being, but I had read wrong.
Beneath Ali’s nonchalant exterior lived the kind of antagonist I had thought only existed in the movies; Ali lived and breathed his privilege, believing that he could craft whatever narrative he wanted for any person he chose. This was Ali’s world, and we were all just living in it.
Ali was never taught to know hunger, never taught to be selfless or encouraged to become something other than what he was. In his mind, he was already something.
It was entirely too late when I finally figured out that the resolution of the incident in the server room sat inside of Ali’s mind like a tick. And the more he thought, the bigger that parasite grew, the more unsettled Ali became that a nobody like Elliot Alderson had caused a disruption in his worldview.
To Ali, it had been a joke, not unlike one his own friends may have inflicted on countless of their schoolmates. Ali knew things like that were a joke because he had never been punished. And if there had never been a consequence for his actions, then he had never been wrong.
Until I told him he was wrong.
Until I gave him a consequence.
I had assumed that because Ali’s family was strict and that because Ali was respectful during his discipline hearing that he understood right and wrong. Instead, being reprimanded attacked his ego by opening up his mind to a barrage of things he had never cared to think about before, including morality.
The tick fattened inside of him, fostering Ali’s need for revenge.
* * * * *
Pursing my lips as I proofread my email one more time, I threw a nasty glance at my phone as it interrupted me.
By the third ring, I couldn’t ignore the compulsion to answer it, so I abandoned my email and picked up the phone.
“Yes?” I said, not bothering to glance at the ID as I saved my email as a draft.
“You need to get down here.”
“JaLeah? What is it?”
“Now, Y/N! Get down here now,” she pleaded.
“I’m on my way,” I said as I stood and hung up the phone, my mind working to process the bizarre demand of a woman I had never known to be frazzled by anything. Even the hacks hadn’t gotten her to break her calm.
“Hold my calls and cancel my 4:00,” I said with a single breath as I rushed past my secretary’s desk and to the elevator. My heel caught in the gap, and I almost stumbled face first into the glass. As I pushed for CIStech’s floor, I realized my fingers were shaking.
Elliot.
No. He would’ve at least texted me if something was up. This can’t be about him.
It’s not about him.
I tried to logic out my anxiety, reminding myself that if I let those thoughts rush forward, I wouldn’t be able to think critically.
The office collectively turned to watch my arrival, and I didn’t need time to wonder why. I could hear the muffled shouting coming from within Tim’s office.
“Don’t,” I commanded Jayne as she reached for the intercom to announce my arrival.
Jayne sank back in her chair, her hand still hovering over the intercom as I pushed into what used to be my office—the one where I interviewed Elliot with Colin and JaLeah, where Colin, goddamn him, said that getting too close to Elliot Alderson probably never ended well for anyone.
Even as he stood with his back to the door, I could feel Elliot’s anger the second I walked in. Dread danced down my spine as I took a deep breath and wondered if this was the same Elliot-yet-not-Elliot I had met a month ago.
Tim looked up from his position at the table, his lips pressed into a thin line as he looked at me then back to his irate employee. Next to Tim sat Ali, with a smug look of satisfaction on his face.
“You—are firing me?” Elliot raged, and just by the tone of his voice, I knew my instinct was right; this wasn’t him.
“What’s going on?” I interrupted, causing this version of Elliot to whirl around and Ali’s smugness to turn from quietly distasteful to outrightly repulsive.
As not-Elliot looked at me, I was shocked at how the anger seemed to morph his features. His jaw was tight its angularity more pronounced; his mouth was much smaller as his lips were pressed against his teeth; his eyes were big and unnerving, but the thing that nearly made me falter was that this Elliot seemed to take up so much more space. It was intimidating.
I had thought I was afraid of the side of Elliot who protected him, but I was even more afraid to realize how little I knew about this side of him.
“You can’t save him this time,” Ali said, drawing both my attention and not-Elliot’s again as his tone reflected that repulsive smirk I wanted to knock off his face.
To Ali Olayan, this was a game of revenge.
“Tim—explain.”
“Don’t listen to them,” not-Elliot growled out, his lips barely moving as I brushed past him to take the open seat on the other side of Tim.
“Sit down,” I bit back, our eyes locking for a moment before he dropped his gaze. Not-Elliot yanked out the chair and sat, a huff of breath escaping when he crossed his arms, his anger occupying a fifth seat at the table.
“Last week, Ali suggested I take a look at the data on the employee performances he ran,” Tim began. “And the results were concerning—"
“Fucking bullshit,” not-Elliot muttered, as he sullenly slumped in his chair like a teenager being disciplined.
I ignored his comment and told Tim to continue.
“The results were concerning because Alderson’s performance didn’t exactly decline so much as nosedive. It made me wonder how someone could go from 100 to 10 in the course of a few weeks.”
“Perhaps a mitigating personal circumstance, Tim. Did you consider that?” I said, trying to both avoid and use the lie about Elliot’s mother.
Tim angled his laptop toward me and clicked on the open tab beside the performance eval.
“Whatever Mr. Alderson has been doing at work, hasn’t been our work.”
Elliot moved quickly, uncrossing his arms and reaching out to slam the lid of Tim’s laptop shut.
“Your work? Your work?! This is just the sort of shit that some data jockey would pull out of their fucking asshole,” not-Elliot said, his speech slurred with irritation as he jerked back and stood, his chair wobbling from the force of his movement.
“And that’s not even the worst part of coming in to this fuckhole every day. No. It’s seeing people like you in positions of power,” he said as he whirled on Ali.
“You reek of nepotism, of never having to work for any fucking thing in your life. A script kiddie! You’ve never written an exploit from scratch in your fucking life. Relying on pulling code from Metasploit or some shit. And what’s the real fuckall of it is that you can’t code and yet you are sitting here, shitting on me, because of something YOU did! I didn’t lock myself in that server room. I didn’t think it was a fucking joke and neither did anyone but you and the other self-centered cunts you call your friends. So fuck you!”
The one who raged for Elliot stopped then, teeth bared, chest rising and falling as his hands ran once, twice through his hair before they dropped to his sides, his fingers flexing before balling into fists.
I didn’t take my eyes off of not-Elliot as I asked, “And no one thought to ask for my input? In case you forgot, I am the General Manager and am in charge of CIStech—not either of you.”
I pulled my eyes away from not-Elliot’s and looked at Ali and at Tim. Ali had lost his smirk and Tim’s hairline was beaded with sweat.
“Well?” I prompted, my own voice rising.
“The--the data doesn’t lie,” Tim finally said quietly. “Mr. Alderson has been using company time to execute his own projects. It’s outlined as one of the most clear grounds for dismissal in the contract every employee signs when they’re hired.”
“I’m aware,” I said with a sigh, knowing he was right. If Elliot, or whoever he was, actually was using company time to work on another project, there was nothing I could do to protect him.
“What have you been working on, Elliot?”
Elliot was so angry that he actually shivered as he turned to me, his body going absolutely rigid.
I waited.
And he silently seethed.
I stood up, not-Elliot’s eyes watching my movement, not my face. I got as close to him as I dared, but when I reached out, my fingertips barely ghosting the cuff of his shirt, he snapped.
“Fuck you,” he growled out, closing the distance between us so he was inches from my face. When our eyes met, the rage that burned in this Elliot’s eyes broke something deep inside of me. “You’ve always just been one of them.”
And with those words, that broken thing shattered.
Not-Elliot ripped off his ID badge and tossed it onto the table. He didn’t look back as he yanked open Tim’s door, the doorknob slamming into the wall. I watched as muted grey chunks of painted plaster fell onto the floor.
I wanted to run after him.
I wanted to beg not-Elliot to let go of his anger.
I wanted to tell him, all of him, that I still loved him.
But I couldn’t.
I had to set the tone for the company.
I had to swallow the acid that burned in my throat as I looked at Ali.
Ali.
I tilted my chin up as I walked forward and calmly shut the door to Tim’s office.
“You targeted him,” I said slowly and clearly without turning around.
“That’s a wild accusation, Ms. Y/L/N,” Ali replied, not bothering to hide the triumph in his voice.
“You targeted him,” I repeated as I coolly turned on my heel and walked back to the table. “You orchestrated this.”
“How the hell was I supposed to know Alderson would lose his mind—”
“Show me the data on the rest of the white hats.”
“What?” Ali asked, his eyes narrowing.
“Show me the exact same reports and their time stamps for all of the white hats on your team.”
The palpable rage that had lingered in the room morphed into an uncomfortable, equally palpable silence as Tim and I both waited for Ali to answer.
“Ali,” Tim prompted.
We waited again, the silence condemning Ali’s actions as it dug his grave.
“That’s what I thought,” I said in a low, dangerous tone. “I don’t give a damn who your parents are. You’re fired.”
“You can’t—”
“Watch me.”
I turned from their eyes and walked out of Tim’s office, my chin still raised as I stared directly ahead and made my way up to HR.
Not exactly the office to take kindly to intrusions, I did finally relax my posture into a more humble stance as I approached Alison Shaye.
She and I had been through quite a lot thanks to the hack on Colin and with one look at my face, she ushered me in and shut the door.
After two hours, thirteen phone calls, a visit from Miles and from three members of the board, CIStech officially ended its relationship with Ali Olayan.
I shook Alison’s hand, then made my way back to Tim’s office, the stragglers who hadn’t left at 5:00 taking a wide berth to avoid me as they finally cleared out for the evening.
“Ali will need replaced, effective Monday. I think it’s time to switch JaLeah from application security to network security so she can oversee the white hats.”
Tim’s eyes were unwilling to meet mine as I talked; he nodded and made a note, finally finding his voice as I reached the door to his office.
“I—I had no idea he was going to … that he would’ve reacted like—”
“You could’ve told me,” I said without turning around.
“Ali convinced me you’d only go over my head to make it all disappear. I … wanted to be fair. I thought I was doing the right thing.”
I raised my head and looked up at the ceiling, completely drained. I turned to face Tim, knowing my face reflected the defeat I felt.
“I’m not sure when I lost my reputation of being a person of integrity. Maybe it was when I started dating my employee. Maybe I never really had it to begin with because Dad’s face is hanging in the lobby. Whoever I thought I was, I’m clearly not. If my SM was unable or unwilling to come to me, I failed. It’s not your fault, Tim. It’s mine.”
I bit my lip as I stepped into the empty elevator, redirecting the pain in my heart so I wouldn’t start crying.
When I finally reached my desk, I picked up my phone and stared at it.
There was no point in calling Elliot because he wasn’t Elliot right now.
Darlene.
I was numb when I pushed her name, almost forgetting to raise the phone to my ear as I walked over to the window in my office, the sky slightly overcast as yet another late spring sky played the will I or won’t I rain game. It felt like an eternity had passed since I had met with Miles in his office and looked out of his near-top floor view and wondered what it would be like to leave this world, to leave Wall Street and to never look back.
“Helloooo?” Darlene’s voice trilled with its characteristic hint of annoyance at being disturbed even though she probably wasn’t doing much of anything.
“Hey, Dar. It’s Y/N.”
“Um, duh,” she said slowly, a slight trill of laughter accompanying her words.
I wanted to laugh with her at my own obviousness, but there was nothing left inside of me except the dead weight of dismay.
“Elliot got fired today.”
Silence—how much tense silence could a person endure in one day?
“You fired him?” Darlene finally said, her voice full of trepidation.
“I had nothing to do with it.”
“What the fuck?!”
“Elliot’s been … multitasking. His job performance over the last two months has tanked, and whatever he’s been doing for the last month hasn’t been what we’ve been paying him to do.”
I waited.
“I’m sorry, Darlene. This was out of my hands.”
“You know what, fuck you,” she said, her tone shifting from concern for her brother to anger at me. “You pushed him because YOU wanted him to be normal. You wanted him to fit into your fucking high-class, black tie, ‘I’m having a social because I’m so rich and so fucking bored’ lifestyle. Elliot never wanted to be a part of that. You knew it and you pushed him into it.”
I listened as Darlene ranted. I owed her that. I owed Elliot that.
All of this was my fault.
“What? Nothing to say because you can’t talk your way through this one with your cool, calm, logic prevails because I’m rich and never have had to worry about any goddamn thing in my life bullshit?”
“I’m sorry. I know this is my fault, and I know I can never understand what the two of you have been through but I do love him,” I paused. “And you too, Darlene.”
“I need to talk to Elliot,” she mumbled as she hung up.
I wiped at the tear that had escaped and was leaking down the side of my nose. I had too much to do to cry now, and I’d be damned if I was going to break down in my office.
Before gathering up my tote, I checked my email to make sure Ali was officially let go. I made a few notes for Monday as I continued to fight back tears, and when I clicked the lights off in my office, it felt like I had also turned off something within myself, something that was not going to be as easy as flicking a switch to turn back on.
I stopped at my apartment to change into sneakers, jeans, and an oversized sweater. Despite it being late May, the overcast weather made it chilly and I didn’t know how late I would be out. I threw my wallet, my keys, and my phone into my mini-backpack.
I checked my phone during the train ride and frowned as I saw a missed call from my dad. One thing that you could always count on in the cooperate world was that gossip traveled faster than the speed of light.
A part of me had filled with the ridiculous hope that Elliot would be at his place, waiting for me, but when I opened the door and stopped in the entry to listen for any sound to indicate he was there, I was struck by a resounding quiet … until I heard a series of quick sniffles.
I stepped far enough into Elliot’s to see Darlene sitting on the edge of his bed, rubbing at the traces of tears on her face.
“It’s not him,” she said, pressing the back of her hand to her mouth.
“I know. Where did he go?”
She looked up at me, her eyes wide and teary, her anxiety as palpable now as her brother’s rage was a few hours ago.
“I can’t do this anymore,” she said reaching for her backpack that had been flung beside the bed. She scrambled to her feet and started stuffing some of Elliot’s clothes into her bag along with a few things from his bookshelf, including a few old polaroids.
“Don’t give up on him,” I pleaded, repeating what she’d more than once asked of me.
Darlene let out a frustrated growl as she flung off the papers, books, and CDs that had been sitting on the edge of Elliot’s bookshelf. They crashed to the ground and she brought her boot down on them in a stomp.
“I’m done, Y/N! I’m not his fucking keeper. I’m not going to sit here and watch him fuck his stupid life up again!”
The mess on Elliot’s floor crunched as she walked over to reach high up into his closet; she pulled down a worn game of Sorry! and wrenched off the lid, exposing a wad of cash. She took a little over half of it, then put the box back.
“I’m doing what he told me to do and getting the fuck out of his life.”
“You’re the one who told me it wasn’t him. You told me not to listen to him when he’s like this!”
“I was wrong.”
“Darlene,” I said, grabbing her upper arms and forcing her to stop moving. “I know what’s wrong with him. He has—"
“I know, Y/N! And I know something happened to him but I can’t help him because he won’t tell me what it was. I can’t fix it. YOU can’t fix it. No one can fucking fix it!”
Darlene brushed past me as my mouth fell open. I always suspected she knew more than she ever said out loud, but maybe that was what kept her sane. Elliot’s truth wasn’t something Darlene was ready to face.
“Where are you going?” I quietly asked.
“The fuck out of this city,” she murmured before turning around to look at me.
We were standing face to face, both of us with tracks of tears on our faces. I didn’t know what to say to her as she looked at me, so vulnerable and so young.
“I’m s-sorry,” I said, choking on the emotion of my apology.
“I didn’t mean what I said on the phone,” she answered, a fresh tear falling from the corner of her eye.
“You’re pissed,” I shrugged. “And hurting.”
“You didn’t deserve—”
“It’s okay,” I said with a small smile. “You and I are good. We will always be good. Will you remember that for me? Please?”
Darlene took a deep breath and nodded, her lips quirking into an awkward smile. I moved forward and pulled her into a fierce hug.
“Take care of yourself,” I whispered into her hair as she clung to me.
She nodded again, pulling away and quickly moving to the door. She pulled it open and stepped into the hall, but before Darlene could close the door, I asked, “Is there anywhere he would go?”
“Coney Island,” she said after a long pause. “There … or that museum in Queens, the one with the layout of the city.”
“I remember. Thank you.”
Darlene bit the back half of her bottom lip, looking unnervingly like her brother as she nodded.
“I’ll see you. Soon,” I added with emphasis.
Her eyes flicked to my face as she shut the door, and I was left alone to just stare at the off-white of Elliot’s front door, unable to imagine the pain she carried from having to grow up much too fast.
With a shiver a turned away from the door as a flash of Elliot, looking just as vulnerable as Darlene, flitted through my mind. He had stood right there, and I had crossed the line when I kissed him, pulling him into my life, whether he was ready for it or not.
When I broke my gaze, I turned around to look at Elliot’s computer. I was struck with that same strong pull as I was on the night I had first met the angry version of Elliot. From my research, I knew a person’s psyche developed personalities that had specific jobs to do within their system. I knew who Elliot’s protector was—that was obvious. And now I knew that there was this other, this Elliot, but not Elliot. He was angry and hurting, curious and almost more alive at times than Elliot. He was so raw, almost like he was much newer to the world than his grizzled protector.
I was now certain it was him I had slept with a month ago. My mind was whirring with the idea of going to bed with one person and waking up with another, but again, I had to force myself to focus. None of these questions and feelings would matter if I never saw Elliot again, but maybe I could use my connection with his angry persona to get him back again.
I was struck with a sense of urgency, like the walls were closing in and I knew, knew I had to talk to him.
Instead of stepping back this time, I slid out of Elliot’s chair and sat down. When I turned on the monitor, Elliot was still logged in. I couldn’t believe my good luck, and as I got to work, I couldn’t help but wonder if maybe my Elliot wanted me to find him, to bring him back again.
It didn’t take long to triangulate his data transmissions to Coney Island, and again, it felt too easy.
I transferred the location to my phone and hurried to the subway.
I kept watching for Elliot’s location to change, but it really didn’t move for the 45 minutes it took the train to get out to the beach.
Daylight was fading fast and as I walked along the boardwalk, a few of the lamps flickered on. I wove my way through the light foot traffic and kept an eye out for Elliot’s dark hair and the light green dress shirt he had been wearing—
That I saw on his bedroom floor, next to the pile of stuff Darlene had stomped.
I finally spotted him sitting in the sand, the black of his hoodie a perfect contrast to the beige of the beach. His eyes were trained on the water as the wind ruffled his hair. His arms encircled his knees and he was twirling what looked like a small stick of driftwood between his fingers.
“How did you find me?” he asked without turning to look at me.
I sat down, my body stiff and aching from an exhaustion I was sure to feel for days. I pulled my sweater tight around my body as I felt the cool air from the water drift up along the beach.
“I don’t know what to do this time,” I said, wondering which Elliot I was talking to. I didn’t feel a radiating anger or an icy coolness, but without looking into his eyes, I just wasn’t sure.
“Walk away.”
“I don’t want to walk away. We knew this would be hard—I knew this would be hard. The answer can’t be to just quit.”
“I’m tired, Y/N.”
I waited, watching his face and silently praying he’d turn to look at me so I’d know.
“I’m tired of fighting with …”
“Just say it,” I pressed softly. “Holding back at this point is almost laughable.”
“With him,” he finished, his eyes still staring forward.
“He hates me,” I stated, thinking that whether it was his protector or the angry one, I couldn’t go wrong since they had both told me to fuck off and Elliot had let it happen. Maybe he really felt those things, too.
I leaned back and let my hands sink into the cool sand as I waited for him to answer.
“He doesn’t hate you. He’s scared of you.”
“Scared of me?”
“Of what you might force Elliot to remember.”
So this is still the angry one.
“You really do love him, don’t you?” he questioned, finally turning to look at me.
And as sure as the sun was about to set, I could tell that the person looking at me was not the Elliot I had fallen in love with. I looked into not-Elliot’s eyes for as long as he allowed. They were the same eyes from this afternoon that had told me to fuck off and the same eyes that had burned with longing that night in Elliot’s apartment.
“We’ve met—I mean, before you told me to fuck off today.”
His cheeks colored and he suddenly became very interested in the small piece of driftwood that was still twirling through his fingers.
“Are you serious right now? After the things we did, you’re going to play shy?”
He turned to me, a fraction of a smile on his lips.
“If it helps, I do like you. And I’m sorry for what I said today. I can’t … control myself very well.”
As I watched him twirl that piece of driftwood back and forth through the same fingers as my Elliot, the same fingers that had caressed my face, that had held my hand, that had reached for me in the dark, I felt like I aged a thousand years.
Those fingers now belonged to a stranger.
When he spoke up, my eyes returned to his face.
“Mr. Robot would rather Elliot focus on Angela. He prefers her because she can’t love him like you do—he thinks she’s safe for him … for us.”
“Mr. Robot is the name of Elliot’s protector?”
“Yes, although he doesn’t like me,” not-Elliot said as he flashed me a crooked grin.
“Why?”
“He doesn’t trust me.”
“Will you tell me who you are?”
His face scrunched up as he thought, his mouth opening, then closing.
“I—I’m not sure. I’ve always just thought of myself as Elliot. Well, as a part of him. This control … it’s new for me.”
I wondered if people who were close to those with DID felt like talking to an alter was surreal. I knew, from the top of my head to the tip of my toes that this was not my Elliot, yet it was him—a part of him he needed.
“All of that uncertainty, the lost time, the conflict … that’s what Elliot has to carry within himself. Isn’t that worse than … what happened to him?”
“He forgets. Or …” Not-Elliot trailed off.
“Or?”
“I think of myself as Elliot, but I’m better than him at a lot of things. It’s always been my job to keep him occupied when Mr. Robot needs to take over, so I create places for him to go.”
“Occupied? So Elliot is … where is he now?”
“He’s in an emergency session with Dr. Horton.”
“Oh,” I said in a low voice, my chest feeling tight. “All this time … he hasn’t really been going to therapy.”
“In a manner of speaking, he has been. Things have gotten better, haven’t they?”
Not-Elliot’s voice was like a buzz in my ear as my mind sped through the last month and a half.
“He must have hacked someone and gotten those anxiety meds.”
“I did that.”
“You hack, too?” I said, the buzzing in my ears subsiding as I clutched the sand painfully beneath my hands to remind myself that now wasn’t the time to get lost in my thoughts.
“I am the hacker,” Not-Elliot said with a perfect three-point grin, the very same one Elliot made.
“Don’t do that—please don’t look like him,” I begged as tears formed in my eyes.
He looked away, a deep frown settling in the place of his smile.
“When is Elliot coming back?”
“He can’t come back while you’re here.”
“Why?”
“It confuses him. Creates more work for us.”
“I don’t fucking care!”
Not-Elliot huffed, a quiet half-laugh that was nearly carried away by the breeze.
“Can you … communicate with him?”
“I don’t have as much control as Mr. Robot. My thoughts … can get mixed up with Elliot’s. That’s how he knew he got fired. Sometimes—”
“What?”
“Sometimes, it feels like I am more him than he is.”
“I know, without a doubt, you are not him. Elliot isn’t angry; he isn’t mean.”
He looked at me, his eyes filled with sadness.
“When can I see Elliot again?” I pressed.
“Do you really want to see him again? After everything he’s done?”
“I love him.”
Not-Elliot shook his head.
“You have to let him go. This isn’t over until Mr. Robot says it is.”
“What isn’t over? What does Mr. Robot want? What if I can help?”
Not-Elliot bit his lip, and he looked just like Elliot again, a conflict clearly going on beneath his exterior.
“You forget even more quickly than Elliot does—you are the bug in our system.”
My hands were shaking as I brought them together to brush off the sand. I stood up, feeling sick.
“Even you know enough about computers to know the steps for removing a bug.”
Enter safe mode to remove the bug, delete temporary files, reinstall damaged software or files, increase defense.
“If you’re Elliot’s safe mode, Mr. Robot is going to delete me.”
My legs felt like they were going to give away, and I knew I needed to leave before I lost my mind. Elliot was right here, right in front of me, and a piece of him was going to destroy the last year of his life—of my life.
I took a step back as Not-Elliot watched me. I turned away from him, but I was suddenly seized by a wild desperation.
I rushed back and dropped to my knees on the sand in front of him, almost throwing him off balance as he braced his feet and turned toward me.
Not-Elliot’s mouth was shaped in an oh of surprise as I leaned in to kiss him.
I clutched the front of his hoodie and I kissed him with all the love I felt for Elliot. I kissed him as the last bit of daylight faded to black, as the waves crashed on to the beach, and as the insistent spring wind swirled around us, grains of sand dancing against our exposed skin.
“I—I’m—I’m not him,” he stammered as soon as he his opened eyes to look into mine.
“I know. But … why can’t I love you, too? Why can’t we work together to help Elliot?”
Not-Elliot and I looked at each other for a long, long time, the lamps on the boardwalk popping on to bathe us in a ghostly light.
“All I want is to be happy with Elliot. I’ve never been in love like this before—I don’t care how many parts of Elliot there are … I’ll love them all. Just please, please don’t let Mr. Robot get rid of all the happiness I know Elliot has felt this year.”
“I have to go,” he said, his head moving back and forth, his eyes large and confused. “Let him go, Y/N. Do us all a favor and just let him go.”
Not-Elliot pushed my hands off of him and walked away quickly, his lithe frame dipping into the small throng of people who were headed toward the arcades as the boardwalk lit up for the night.
He never looked back.

Yesterday was the 10th anniversary of Rose's death. Also, this November she would've been 30y/o.
She was a close friend of mine, and died of an aneurysm; she collapsed on stage while singing and playing the guitar, and died the next day.
Rose was the same age as my sister, two years younger than me, and her sister is my age and was my best friend. So the four of us were really close, almost like sisters. We would spend the summer holidays either with our family, or theirs, whichever family went to the beach that year.
She was such a big part of my life growing up, that it's weird thinking that she's "stuck" at 20, and I'm 32 now.
I'll try really hard to convey, how important she is to everyone who knew her. How missed she is.
She was so smart, like book smart, but also surprisingly insightful for a 20y/o.
I remember Rose telling me once "I wanted to know if I liked it, so I kissed a girl. But it's not for me". You have no idea how important that was for me. Like I've never even thought of the possibility of not being straight (raised catholic and very conservative), it's not that I was repressed, it was just something I never even considered before.
And she was from a family very much like mine, but able to break away and try her own path (it wasn't that she went around kissing people; and there's nothing wrong with being that person, but she just wasn't, I'm saying this to illustrate how important it was that she did it).
Rose also loved things with all her being. And she was never ashamed of the things she liked. Like she would go into forums and investigate about her heroes and know all there was to know about ER and Sarah McLachlan and Rent and U2 and musicals and Broadway and Wicked.
I'm writing because there's so much she would've done, so many what-ifs I feel I need to make her be present this way, this year.
She wasn't top of her class when she graduated high school, just because she didn't want to spend too much time studying. She was close second though, and that was just with minimal effort. She was a real life Hermione.
Also, Rose was tall, and big, and had long bushy hair. She had to buy her heels from drag queen shops bc her feet were so big, "regular" shoe shops didn't carry her size. And she was CONFIDENT. Like, loved to wear her hair down, big and all, no shits given.
And was really good at shopping for cool clothes, even though most traditionally "feminine" shops didn't carry her size (take into consideration, this was 2009/2010 and we grew up in a small city in Argentina, there weren't many shops available, and "plus size" meant grandma's clothes)
Her last birthday (2010) she rocked a really short shirt-dress with bright yellow tights, I can't even begin to imagine what her style might have been nowadays.
It took her some time to gain that confidence, went through the awkward baggy-pants-and-big-sweatshirt phase like most of us fat girls, but she already loved herself when she was finishing high school. It took me many more years to reach that stage.
I'm painting the best picture, since everything positive about her comes to mind these days.
That's not to say, she was perfect. She definitely wasn't. She was human and made mistakes and (I'm sure) hurt people.
She was loud and could be obnoxious sometimes, but there are very few teenagers and young adults who aren't.
Oh also, Rose really enjoyed singing. And she was really good at it.
She was studying to become an English teacher.
She was really spiritual, and sang in church every Sunday, and was part of the community.
I would love to speak to her now, about feminism and love and gender and sexuality and family. There's so much we didn't know back then, so much I want her insight into.
When I heard the Hamilton soundtrack, all I could think about was about her. And how much she would've loved it.
I want to have the opportunity to hear her rave about things like Lin Manuel Miranda, or Doctor Who, or Good Omens.
I'm glad Rose got to meet my (now) husband, and that she liked him is an endorsement like very few I can think of.
I wonder where she would be living now (I think Ireland or England, studying for her third master and singing in pubs some nights).
I know she would have finally found someone who saw her for who she was, and loved her for it. Perhaps a few whirlwind romances before that.
I wonder if she would've even wanted to have kids.
When Rose died, it was a shock, because no one saw it coming (both her parents are doctors, and the aneurysm was never diagnosed, she never had any syntoms before. And by the time she was rushed into the hospital, it was too late).
Afterwards, slowly but surely, all of her friends and family finished high school, then university. Some of us got married, some got kids. Some moved to other countries.
The year she died, I was out of the country, doing one of those work and travel programs, that encompass our summer (December through March), in WDW. It was something she had actually suggested, that she wanted to do, but last minutes backed out (I never knew why). I was far away from home, working 13-hour shifts (the holidays in the resort are madness). And after her death, a friend suggested some of us took the days off from two weeks, put them together, and take a 4-days trip to NYC. I didn't really have the money to do it, but said yes anyways because Rose wanted to attend Juilliard (childhood dreams), and so we said we were going to visit her in her break (more childhood dreaming). So I ended up eating rice and crackers for a few weeks in order to pay for travel and lodging, but it was so worth it. Everything there reminded me of her, of what she dreamed of doing, of becoming.
I miss her so much, and as I go through life and hit new "milestones", I wonder what she would be doing right now.
Yesterday some close friends and her family gathered (socially distant, and out in the open air) in our old high school. It's a place of 400 square meters, most of which are various sports' fields, and a small forest. It was a place she felt was home, and since the moment she said she wanted to become an English teacher, a spot was there waiting for her to finish her studies.
Anyways, there in the small forest, around the fallen walnut tree, people who loved her, and miss her, gathered, to remember her smiles and jokes and songs.
Her mother read a poem Rose wrote, and her sister sang the solo in "Seasons of Love".
It was lovely, and sad, and had her in every moment.
She is loved, and missed so so much.

Serena and Clemont!
General:
Rate the Ship -   Awful | Ew | No pics pls | I’m not comfortable | Alright | I like it! | Got Pics? | Let’s do it! | Why is this not getting more attention?! | The OTP to rule all other OTPs
How long will they last? - Once they finally get together, Serena and Clemont are in it for the long haul.
How quickly did/will they fall in love? - Not very quickly. Serena and Clemont are actually a bit older when they finally get together. It takes Serena a little while to get over Ash, and Clemont isn’t the most romantically inclined person to begin with. He’s the one who’s really there for Serena after her heartbreak, however, and their frendship eventually strengthens to something more.
How was their first kiss? - Very sweet! It probably takes until about their third official date for them to actually kiss, and it’s a pretty quick, innocent one, right in front of Lumiose Tower when it’s all lit up at night.
Wedding:
Who proposed? - Clemont. He initially tries to build some really intricate invention that will set the most perfect proposal mood (flower petals falling, big spotlights, etc). Naturally, it blows up and Bonnie convinces him to make the proposal simple and straightforward.
Who is the best man/men? - Best Man: Clembot. Groomsmen: Ash, Tierno, Trevor, Brock, and Cilan.
Who is the braid’s maid(s)? - Maid of Honor: Bonnie. Bridesmaids: Shauna, Misty, May, Dawn, and Miette.
Who did the most planning? - Serena. Wedding planning is right up her alley, so she goes full out (and, of course, lets Bonnie be her assistant in it all.)
Who stressed the most? - Clemont. He kept worrying about something going wrong, him embarrassing himself, Bonnie embarrassing him, etc.
How fancy was the ceremony? - Back of a pickup truck | 2 | 3 | 4 | Normal Church Wedding | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | Kate and William wish they were this big.
Who was specifically not invited to the wedding? - Team Rocket...again (and they wonder why not every single time a twerp gets married!)
Sex:
Who is on top? - It probably switches back and forth. Neither one is exactly dominant, so it’s whoever the mood hits at the time.
Who is the one to instigate things? - Serena, mainly. Clemont every once in a blue moon.
How healthy is their sex life? - Barely touch themselves let alone each other | 2 | 3 | 4 | Once a couple weeks, nothing overboard | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | They are humping each other on the couch right now
How kinky are they? - Straight missionary with the lights off | 2 | 3 | 4 | Might try some butt stuff and toys | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | Don’t go into the sex dungeon without a horse’s head
How long do they normally last? - Not very long. Serena almost always outlasts Clemont.
Do they make sure each person gets an equal amount of orgasms? - They try!
How rough are they in bed? - Softer than a butterfly on the back of a bunny | 2 | 3 | 4 | The bed’s shaking and squeaking every time | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | Their dirty talk is so vulgar it’d make Dwayne Johnson blush. Also, the wall’s so weak it could collapse the next time they do it.
How much cuddling/snuggling do they do? - No touching after sex | 2 | 3 | 4 | A little spooning at night, or on the couch, but not in public | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | They snuggle and kiss more often than a teen couple on their fifth date to a pillow factory.
Children:
How many children will they have naturally? - 2
How many children will they adopt? - 0
Who gets stuck with the most diapers? - Clemont
Who is the stricter parent? - Serena, although neither one is a real pushover
Who stops the kid(s) from doing dangerous stunts after school? - Whichever parent is around, and it’s pretty much only their son they need to stop.
Who remembers to pack the lunch(es)? - Both Serena and Clemont remember and enjoy doing it, so they take turns!
Who is the more loved parent? - Serena and Clemont’s children love them both, although their daughter is more likely to clash on occasion with Serena as she gets older.
Who is more likely to attend the PTA meetings? - Serena
Who cried the most at graduation? - Probably Serena. Clemont would be too busy bragging a little about how smart their kids are.
Who is more likely to bail the child(ren) out of trouble with the law? - Despite being the slightly stricter parent, it’d be Serena. If their kids ever got into this level of trouble (which, let’s be honest, wouldn’t be likely) Clemont’s head would probably explode.
Cooking:
Who does the most cooking? - Clemont
Who is the most picky in their food choice? - Both are quite adventurous eaters and will eat just about anything!
Who does the grocery shopping? - It varies. Serena slightly more than Clemont, but he’s always the one to make the shopping list.
How often do they bake desserts? - Constantly. Baking is one of Serena’s passions, so this is a weekly (sometimes daily) activity in the house.
Are they more of a meat lover or a salad eater? - Serena tends to prefer slightly lighter fare, like salads, but she really won’t turn down any meal. Clemont is happy either way.
Who is more likely to surprise the other(s) with an anniversary dinner? - Clemont! He does this almost every year.
Who is more likely to suggest going out? - Serena. She reads up on all of the best restaurants and wants to try them all.
Who is more likely to burn the house down accidentally while cooking? - Neither! Both are very proficient at cooking and baking; this couple knows their way around a kitchen.
Chores:
Who cleans the room? - Serena
Who is really against chores? - Neither. Clemont’s workshop can get a little messy, but he does try and clean it up whenever he gets the chance. This doesn’t carry over into the house, however.
Who cleans up after the pets? - They both look after their Pokemon and give them their own individual care.
Who is more likely to sweep everything under the rug? - Clemont, but again moreso in his workshop, which doesn’t really affect Serena, so she doesn’t care.
Who stresses the most when guests are coming over? - Serena. She’s a neat freak and if one picture frame is out of place, she will spend 20 minutes trying to get it just right.
Who found a dollar between the couch cushions while cleaning? - You’re not likely to find anything between the couch cushions in this house. On the off chance one of them does, it likely belongs to their son, and both Serena and Clemont will return it to him with a reminder to not leave a mess behind.
Misc:
Who takes the longer showers/baths? - Serena
Who takes the dog out for a walk? - Serena exercises with her Pokemon and Clemont’s, because he hates it.
How often do they decorate the room/house for the holidays? - Serena goes all out for every single holiday. She gets lots of ideas from magazines and the internet and adapts them to her own personal style.
What are their goals for the relationship? - Because Serena and Clemont are a bit older when they get together, they have a very mature relationship. They just want to make sure they always communicate well and are on the same page.
Who is most likely to sleep till noon? - Serena. Even as an adult, she’s near impossible to wake up.
Who plays the most pranks? - Neither one is very big on pranks. Bonnie is. She will come over specifically to play pranks on them. Cue Clemont’s “I’ve told you a million times not to do that!”

In later years, Lucille Ball was vocal about hating the experience of shooting The Dark Corner. Director Henry Hathaway's bullying reduced Ball to stuttering on set, at which point Hathaway accused her of being inebriated. At the time, Lucille Ball was suing to get out of her contract with MGM. As a result, MGM loaned her to Fox for this picture, which included a significant pay cut.

The primary sponsor of the show was Unilever through its Lux Soap brand.
CAST

Lucille Ball (Kathleen Stewart) was born on August 6, 1911 in Jamestown, New York. She began her screen career in 1933 and was known in Hollywood as ‘Queen of the B’s’ due to her many appearances in ‘B’ movies. “My Favorite Husband” eventually led to the creation of “I Love Lucy,” a television situation comedy in which she co-starred with her real-life husband, Latin bandleader Desi Arnaz. The program was phenomenally successful, allowing the couple to purchase what was once RKO Studios, re-naming it Desilu. When the show ended in 1960 (in an hour-long format known as “The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour”) so did Lucy and Desi’s marriage. In 1962, hoping to keep Desilu financially solvent, Lucy returned to the sitcom format with “The Lucy Show,” which lasted six seasons. She followed that with a similar sitcom “Here’s Lucy” co-starring with her real-life children, Lucie and Desi Jr., as well as Gale Gordon, who had joined the cast of “The Lucy Show” during season two. Before her death in 1989, Lucy made one more attempt at a sitcom with “Life With Lucy,” also with Gordon.

ACT ONE
Tumblr media
William Keighley introduces the program, noting that many years earlier, director Fred Kohlmar saw a titian-haired young model who had great possibilities - Lucille Ball.  He later had the privilege of presenting her in the film version of The Dark Corner. After a mention of Lux Toilet Soap, the program begins.
Tumblr media
The action opens in a New York City office building on a sultry summer afternoon. Police detective Reeves visits the Offices of Bradford Galt, Private Investigator and speaks to his secretary, Kathleen Stewart.
Galt enters and Reeves wonders why Galt didn’t notify him that he moved offices after his prior unpleasantness.  Galt asks Kathleen to have dinner with him. After dinner, Galt asks her to go dancing but she’s wise to his advance. As they walk down the street, they realize that they are being followed.
Tumblr media
Kathleen takes a cab back to the office, while Galt confronts the pursuer at gunpoint, taking him back to his office for questioning. He says his name is Fred Foss, and that he’s also a private detective. Galt doesn’t believe him and decides to beat the truth out of him.
Tumblr media
After some roughing up, Fred discloses that he is being paid to tail Galt by Anthony Jardine. In the tussle, some ink spills on Foss’s white suit. He lets Foss leave. Kathleen was supposed to tail Foss after he left the office, but he tricked her and got away.
Back at his rooming house, Foss uses the hall telephone to call art gallery owner Ralph Wickett, and his ink-stained suit is noticed by a Little Girl neighbor.
At a party for his third wedding anniversary, Wickett hangs up and is greeted by Jardine, a lawyer. Mrs. Lucy Wilding takes Jardine aside pretending to ask legal advice, but it is revealed that he is blackmailing her.
Meanwhile, Galt confides in Kathleen about his past. Jardine is trying to kill Galt because he was a former partner that Galt confronted about his blackmailing female clients. Now Jardine wants to finish the job.
Mari Wickett, Ralph’s wife, is having an affair with Anthony Jardine. She wants to run away with him. At the same time, Galt is headed there to settle the score.

A Lux commercial break takes the form of a story from Libby Collins, Hollywood Reporter. She says she saw Universal’s The Lost Moment starring Robert Cummings and Susan Hayward. Libby says she was on location when they filmed the big fire scene, the biggest fire ever done on a sound stage.  She says that she and Susan Hayward washed the soot off their faces with Lux Toilet Soap!
Tumblr media
At the time of the broadcast, The Lost Moment was still two weeks from being released. It opened in cinemas on November 27, 1947. The story is set in Italy, so the cast included Edward Ciannelli, who played pizzeria owner Mr. Martinelli in “Visitor from Italy” (ILL S6;E5) and Saverio LoMedico who played the Rome hotel bellboy in “Lucy’s Italian Movie” (ILL S5;E23).  The film was not a box office success.
ACT TWO
Tumblr media
An hour has past since the end of Act One and Galt is at Jardine’s door. Galt threatens Jardine, who denies tailing him.The two fight  while Mari is hiding in the other room. After Galt leaves, she convinces him to run away with her.
At the Gallery, Wickett is visited by Foss. It is clear Wickett is setting up Jardine to take the fall when he has Galt killed.  Foss calls Galt to betray Jardine for a price. Galt suggests a one-on-one meeting at his apartment - 904 West 52nd, apartment 307 at 8pm sharp. Wickett will send Jardine to Galt’s apartment at 7:30pm.
Tumblr media
In reality, there is no such address. West 52nd Street in New York City ends at the the 600s block. This is similar to the Ricardo and Mertz apartment building. 623 East 68th Street, which, if real, would be in the East River!
Kathleen and Galt are supposed to meet at the movies, but he doesn’t show so he goes to his apartment at 8:30. Galt opens the door and reveals that Jardine is dead. Galt was ambushed with and knocked out with ether. He woke up to find Jardine’s body bludgeoned by the fireplace poker.  Galt realizes he was set up.
Tumblr media
Later, Galt meets Kathleen at her apartment. He couldn’t find Foss and doesn’t know where to look next.
Wickett reminds Mari that they are due at the Kinsglsey’s that night, but she begs off. He strongly hints that he knows that Mari is stepping out on him and looking to run off.
Galt suddenly realizes that Foss would have to have his white suit cleaned, so he is determined to search all the cleaners for the suit and get his address.
Foss phones Wickett, and the Little Girl is there to overhear his conversation. Foss makes a plan to meet Wickett on the 31st floor of the Grant building.
Galt and Kathleen are about to give up on the search for the suit when a cleaner comes through. They get his address and trace Foss to the rooming house where he lives. His name turns out to be Stauffer, not Foss. The landlady reports that he moved out an hour ago and doesn’t know where he went. But the Little Girl does - and spills the beans for a quarter!  Galt and Kathleen head for the Grant Building.

End of Act Two
In the break, Keighley interviews Fox contract player Betty Ann Lynn, who saw filming of Daryl F. Zanuck’s Gentleman’s Agreement starring Gregory Peck and Dorothy McGuire in a “very unusual picture”.
Tumblr media
Gentleman’s Agreement premiered on November 11, one day after this broadcast, in both New York City and Chicago. It dealt with anti-Semitism and went on to win three Oscars, including Best Picture. The cast included Lucycom alumni Mike Lally, Shep Houghton, Roy Roberts, and Amzie Strickland in uncredited roles. Betty Ann Lynn says that she also likes to watch the filming of a costume picture like The Foxes of Harrow starring Rex Harrison and Maureen O’Hara, who had 26 costumes made just for her.  She notes that O’Hara has a Lux complexion.
Tumblr media
The Foxes of Harrow was released September 13, 1947. "Lux Radio Theater" broadcast a sixty minute radio adaptation of this movie on December 6, 1948, with Maureen O'Hara reprising her movie role. The movie was the screen debut of William Schallert, who did several episodes of “The Lucy Show.”  O’Hara and Lucille Ball became lifelong friends after their 1940 film Dance, Girl, Dance. Like Gentleman’s Agreement, The Foxes of Harrow also features Roy Roberts, who went on to play bank president Mr. Cheever on “The Lucy Show.”
ACT THREE
Tumblr media
Kathleen and Galt rush to the Grant Building, where Mr. Wickett is about to settle accounts on a remote fire escape. Foss / Stauffer brings proof that Jardine is dead but Wickett throws him from the fire escape to his death.
Galt and Kathleen witness the whole incident from the street, as does the cab driver who was waiting for Foss / Stauffer. Thinking fast, Galt steals the cab which still contains Foss’s luggage. Later, we hear that the bags were only full of clothes. Kathleen urges him to keep thinking.   Kathleen suddenly remembers that the Little Girl mentioned galleries. They put the pieces together and all evidence leads them to the Wickett Galleries. Galt heads there and questions the clerk. Under the guise of buying a painting, Galt inquires about meeting Mr. Wickett, and the clerk departs. Mari comes in the side door, and Galt tells her that Anthony Jardine has been murdered. She faints. Wickett comes in and when Galt tells him the truth, Ralph locks him in the gallery vault. Mari has revived and overhears Ralph’s threats, holding a gun on him. She shoots her husband dead.
Tumblr media
Kathleen has tipped off the police, who only want to charge him with stealing a taxi cab. Kathleen asks if he can be booked at another time because they have a date at the City Hall - to get married.
End of Story
As a curtain call, Keighley chats with Lucille Ball and Mark Stevens. He congratulates Ball on the success of her stage show, Dream Girl, a play she says she will do again in San Francisco. When Keighley asks how Lucille’s busy schedule and that of her husband Desi Arnaz’s leave any time for a personal life, Ball says that they will be playing in San Francisco at the same time.
Tumblr media
In June 1947, Lucille Ball performed at New Jersey’s McCarter Theatre in Dream Girl, a play by Elmer Rice. It also played Brooklyn, Detroit and Boston.
Tumblr media
The San Francisco production opened just a week after this radio telecast. As Ball states, Desi Arnaz was also in San Francisco at the time, playing in the Rose Room of the Palace Hotel, a fact that was advertised in the Dream Girl program. During the Los Angeles engagement in January 1948, Ball fell ill and had to withdraw. Although she love performing on stage, her radio career and then television success did not allow her to return to the footlights until 1960.

Lucy notes that like many other busy stars, she owes her good complexion to Lux Soap!
Turning to Mark Stevens, Lucille notes that he will play an FBI man in his next project at Fox, with Keighley as director.
Tumblr media
Although the film’s title is not mentioned, they are referring to The Street With No Name, which won’t be released until June 1948. Stevens plays Gene Cordell aka George Manley, a covert FBI agent who infiltrates a ruthless gangster mob. "Lux Radio Theater" broadcast a 60-minute radio adaptation of the movie on January 31, 1949 with Mark Stevens reprising his film role.
Keighley notes that next week “Lux Radio Theatre” will present Jane Wyman and Ronald Reagan in Nobody Lives Forever.
Tumblr media
The Warner Brothers picture Nobody Lives Forever was released on November 1, 1946. It originally starred John Garfield and Geraldine Fitzgerald in roles taken on radio by Reagan and Wyman, who were husband and wife at the time. Of course, Reagan left Hollywood for a grander stage, first in California as Governor, then as President of the United States. He bestowed Lucille Ball with The Kennedy Center Honor in 1986.

Announcer Kennedy notes that Mark Stevens appeared through the courtesy of 20th Century Fox, producers of Forever Amber.

Forever Amber is a 1944 romance novel by Kathleen Winsor set in 17th-century England. It was made into a film in 1947 starring Cornel Wilde, who appeared in “The Star Upstairs” (ILL S4;E25). When “Lucy Writes A Novel” (ILL S3;E24), Ethel jokes about finding Lucy’s hidden manuscript and burning it:  “We pulled down the kitchen blind and changed the name of your novel to 'Forever Ember.'”
‘DARK’ TRIVIA
Tumblr media
In a September 1985 episode of “Remington Steele,” a character played by Stephen Dillane has the name Bradford Galt!  The stories, however, are not otherwise connected.
In both the film and the radio show, Fred Foss gives his phone number as CH-elsea 4-43510. However, according to the Manhattan phone book for 1946, there were only CH-elsea 2 and CH-elsea 3 exchanges. Real phone numbers were rarely used in film or television.

When television began to supplant radio, “The Lux Video Theatre” was introduced. It was seen from 1950 to 1959. Initially, the show was a thirty-minute weekly show featuring live stage plays, but when it moved to NBC in August 1954, the show was extended to sixty minutes. As on radio, the programs were then primarily adaptations of motion pictures. The host would introduce each act, and would conduct an interview with the stars at the end of the play. Of the cast of this radio version of The Dark Corner:
William Keighley directed an episode in 1951.
Mark Stevens did an episode in 1955.
Dan O’Herlihy did five episodes.
Joseph Kearns did three episodes.
The character name Ralph Wickett replaced Hardy Cathcart for the radio show. It is likely that they could no longer get legal clearance to use the name Hardy Cathcart, necessitating the change.
Tumblr media
The film featured Ellen Corby as a maid, a role not in the radio drama. Corby went on to be seen as Lucy Ricardo’s high school acting teacher and in several small roles on “The Lucy Show” before her best-loved role of Grandma on “The Waltons.”
Tumblr media
The film also features background work by Sam Harris, who did 15 films with Lucille Ball, in addition to multiple episodes of “I Love Lucy” and “The Lucy Show” as well as Harold Miller, who did eight films with Lucy and two episodes of “I Love Lucy”.

The film is available on DVD complete with DVD commentary and original trailer.
