2024 Plans and Goals
For me, 2023 was a year of change. I moved to the other side of the world. I started a new job. I made new friends. I learned about a new culture. I started new exercising habits. I left a 7-year relationship that wasn't right for me. It's been a very big year and I'm proud of myself for taking the steps I needed to break out of the rut I'd been stuck in for so long!
But I didn't really improve my languages or develop new skills. And so, I want 2024 to be a year of growth 🌱 I want to go into 2025 feeling like I levelled up. So, here are some goals for that:
Japanese
Reach ~N3 level (maaaaybe take the exam in December, but I'm undecided)
Learn 10 songs by heart to a level where I could sing them at karaoke
Finish reading another book of short stories
Finish both Minna No Nihongo books
Norwegian
Read at least 2 books in Norwegian
Maintain an overall B2/C1 level
Finish Enjoy Norwegian textbook
Non-language
Trigger warning for vaguely weight and food related goals.
Read 36 books (I may lower this to 30 or increase it to 40, we'll see!)
Complete a first draft of a novel manuscript
Tackle my diet soda and sugar addictions
Comfortable two-block oversplit with back bend
Consistently hold a handstand for 5 seconds
Noticeably improve my demi pointe
Slim down enough that none of my clothes are tight anymore (don't worry I won't post anything related to weight loss on this blog!)
I have some more Japan-specific goals too that I'll post about later 😊

Matcha Health Science: An Evidence-Based Review
Tumblr media
Recently I found a fantastic tea company called Tezumi that obtains teas from all over the world, namely Japan. I got to talking with the owner and he invited me to write a post for their blog about the scientific publications that have been done regarding matcha's health benefits. I thought you all would enjoy it too! Link.
A gurgling, clear stream from a boiling kettle tumbles into a vessel holding dried plant matter. A frenetic symphony of swirling H2O molecules draws out a host of larger, more complex molecules: catechins, epicatechin, gallocatechin, L-theanine, caffeine, and more. The steaming water, now steeped with a plant’s essence, is strained into a clean empty cup. For thousands of years this was the universal chemical process for the creation of tea. It is called infusion.
Black tea, oolong tea, white tea, and green tea are all brewed via an infusion process. However, there is a curious exception within the world of tea: matcha. While all other teas are extracts infused into warm water, matcha is a suspension. The powdered green tea is suspended, floating within the water, and then whisked into a thick solution with a light foamy topping.
How did this unique beverage come to be?
The story goes that a particularly brutal Japanese winter hundreds of years ago inspired farmers to cover their tea plants with straw to shield them from the damaging frost. The plants, in response to the shade created by this covering, synthesized more chlorophyll to maintain energy metabolism. The farmers then discovered that these new, darkly pigmented plants made for an even more robust and rich brew of green tea.
When a traveling monk named Eisai returned to Japan after traveling in China, he supposedly introduced a powdered suspension method for tea brewing. Combining one tea innovation with another, the result is supposedly the matcha we know today.
While there are various health benefits attributed to all kinds of teas, matcha enjoys a superior status because it is a suspension rather than an infusion. A simple online search yields a bevy of claims from preventing disease to curing cancer. But what does our most rigorous, evidence-based scientific research tell us about the true benefits of matcha?
Obesity and Metabolic Syndrome Benefits
Studies in both mice and humans have given evidence for several benefits matcha may provide regarding obesity and appropriate weight loss.
A Chinese study by Wang Et al.1 created an experiment in which they divided mice into four groups. Two groups were given either a high-fat or normal diet while another two groups were given matcha supplementation along with either a high-fat or normal diet. A number of different variables were then analyzed before and after the 8-week experiment, including blood lipid levels, blood glucose levels, liver enzymes, fat and liver cell samples viewed under a microscope, gut microbiota, fecal bile acids, and more.
When comparing the high fat diet with the high fat plus matcha diet, the study found that matcha supplementation inhibited the fat accumulation and limited the dyslipidemia and hyperglycemia caused by the high fat diet. Additionally, matcha reshaped the intestinal microbiome by promoting bacterial strains associated with healthy body weight, reducing glucose and increasing insulin levels, and reducing inflammation. There have been other well-designed studies with similar findings in humans as well.2,3
Put simply, there have been repeated experiments with findings that suggest matcha intake may benefit prevention and reversal of obesity as well as the serologic, microbiotic, and histologic markers associated with metabolic syndrome. And for those who may not be aware, metabolic syndrome significantly increases risk for heart attack, stroke, and diabetes.
Cognitive and Systemic benefits
A South Korean study examined the effect of matcha on cognitive dysfunction and systemic inflammation in mice.4 The authors stated, “Air pollution is a complex mixture of particulate matter that contains heavy metals, carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, and ozone, and is known to be harmful to human health.” They further explain that the pollution “is absorbed through a variety of pathways, such as skin, nasal cavity, respiratory organs, and digestive system, and causes type 2 diabetes, respiratory infections, cardiovascular disease, and systemic inflammation.” This in turn also creates oxidative stress in the brain, leading to cognitive impairment.
Few studies have examined the way matcha may impact individuals exposed to pollution, especially with respect to the effects on cognition. The authors set out to answer these questions by designing a sophisticated experiment with mice. Essentially, they were exposed to high levels of pollution and one group received matcha extract while the other did not.
The results were extensive. To summarize: matcha inhibited cognitive dysfunction caused by the neurotoxic effects of pollution, downregulated systemic inflammation, reduced behavioral and memory dysfunction, promoted lung, skin, and brain anti-oxidation, improved regulation of mitochondrial function, and benefited several cholinergic and anticholinergic systems.
Several other studies in humans have found similarly encouraging results with respect to the impact of matcha on overall brain health.5 Some have even found results that suggest green tea may reduce the risk for developing Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.6
A systematic review7 of matcha’s health benefits created the following diagram to summarize:
Tumblr media
Takeaways
Whether improving cognitive performance, protecting important organ systems, or reducing the likelihood of developing metabolic syndrome, matcha has effects on the human body that are as complex as its own storied history. The ongoing study of this traditional beverage will continue to shine light on its potential benefits.
While the evidence does suggest that matcha may benefit several conditions, there can be too much of a good thing. Drinking matcha in excess can lead to nausea, vomiting, acid reflux, and may worsen symptoms for anyone with stomach ulcers. Furthermore, there is no evidence to suggest that matcha may treat health conditions in the absence of our current medical standards of care.
My advice? A cup or two of matcha tea per day is a reliable lifestyle addition for experiencing the relaxed focus effect of combination caffeine and L-theanine. And in doing so, you can enjoy the added satisfaction of knowing you are likely benefiting your brain, metabolism, and intestinal microbiome.

HELLO, I was thinking and, what if (in a time when everyone is older:3) Della is pregnant but I don't know it, but the members do, so they notice how her belly grows but she thinks she's getting fat and starts to do diets and extreme exercise? One day her members see her hit her stomach because she can't lose weight, how would they react? ( Hajun is on his way ;) )
hi! you accidentally sent this four times so i’m just gonna answer to your first one 😁 plus i personally feel uncomfortable writing the hit part so i am not gonna include that
tw: weight gain, pregnancy, mentions of diet and vomiting
ksn heavy
— a couple of years into the future —
"Shit," Sunoo mumbled under his breath. "Lala!" he rushed to her side.
Della was sat down in front of a mirror, crying her eyes out. Usually she wouldn't care if she gained weight or had a bit of belly fat (she likes it, even) she would always just eat a bit better and exercise it off.
She thought that that was the case, yet it wouldn't go away at all.
She became increasingly frustrated. She started actually dieting and working out like crazy, which led to her vomiting a couple of times but she thought 'so be it.'
Everyone's watching the group closely. This is the group's first Japanese comeback since the wedding (and second comeback overall), so they need to prove that they're still the same Enhypen- if not, better.
"Why won't it go away?!" she ran a hand through her hair, "We only have a week lef-"
"It doesn't matter, Della. It's okay," Sunoo grabbed her face to caress and wipe the tears.
The boys knew of her weight loss plan but they just let her be. They were going through the same thing and as long as she still eats three actual meals a day, they thought she would be fine.
"My abs wouldn't come back! And most of my outfits will be crop tops, Sunoo!" she said frustratingly.
"But Lala, look!" he turned her to the mirror. "Flex," he gestured to her arms. "See! Look at how crazy your muscles look! Your leg muscles too, even!"
"But my belly!" she cried out, wrapping her arms around his neck.
Something suddenly hit Sunoo as she kept sobbing.
"Lala, sweetie? Can I ask you something?" Della sniffled before nodding. "Have you taken a pregnancy test?"
Della froze for a moment. She forgot she had removed her IUD. They agreed to start trying after their (Korean) comeback. It would also explain the vomiting.
"Holy shit! Sunoo-ya! We have to get to the hospital! Tell the others!”
❅◦❆◦❅◦❆◦❅◦❆◦❅◦❆
"Remember a couple of years ago when you were annoyed that the 02z didn't aim at the drain? Now that you know that there's actually a chance for you to be pregnant, you don't realise it."
Well she's pregnant, alright. So she cried all the way home because she felt horrible. She couldn't even be joyed at the news while the boys were ecstatic and panicky at the same time.
She did all those practices, workouts and diets while pregnant? Good thing the doctor said the baby was perfectly fine. They also said she needed to rest as much as possible so they're gonna take some time off after promotions.
"I've never been pregnant before!" the news finally struck the girl. "Jesus Christ, I'm pregnant.." she let out a small smile while placing a hand on her stomach. "A person is growing inside of me."
"Really- congratulations guys," their manager said as he was driving. "Take it easy, okay? I've informed the higher ups and we'll have a meeting tomorrow."
"See? Take it easy," Heeseung turned to look at Della with a mild glare. "Don't dance too hard."
"Good thing it's a Japanese promotion," Jay sighed. "Like ten schedules and that's it."
"Hyung, who do you think the dad is?" Sunghoon asked out of nowhere. His competitive side is showing.
"Ew, no-"
"Between the 02z!" Jake added.
"What?! I don't know!"
"Try making a guess, hyung," Niki grinned mischievously.
"They're gonna ask everyday if you don't," Jungwon said while gesturing to his hyungs.
"I can't believe we didn't settle this with rock, paper, scissors," Sunoo mumbled before nuzzling his face in Della's neck. Heela, being the only two who heard, laughed at the comment.
"I don't know! Jay?!"
"Hell yeah! One point for Park Jongseong!"

all the smart doctors and scientists are wrong? And you are right? Sure. Sugar makes people obese that’s a scientific fact.
Sugar Does Not Cause Obesity (Article written by Dr John A. McDougall)
A universally accepted mantra among dieters is, "Don't eat starches—starches turn to sugar—sugar makes you fat."  If this were true then obesity would be rampant among rice-eating Japanese—obviously, the opposite is the case.  Worldwide, populations with the highest consumption of carbohydrate are the trimmest and fittest.(Ref.1)
Studies of people also show that the higher their sugar intake the lower their calorie intake and the fewer people who are overweight.(Ref.2) This makes a lot of sense because when you add carbohydrate (even pure sugar) to the diet then fat must be removed—kind of a fat-sugar seesaw—one goes up, then the other must go down.  Fat is very concentrated in calories (9 per gram vs. 4 for pure sugar), fat is almost effortlessly stored, and fat provides little appetite satisfaction.  Thus, replacing fat in the diet with sugar will cause weight loss.  Furthermore, the practice by "low-carbohydrate dieters" of decreasing sugar intake often results in a higher calorie intake, because of all the fat that is added.

Wellness Wednesday:
Back To Reality
I will admit that it felt uneasy taking a week long Thanksgiving vacation from work, but once I got in the thick of lounging around I didn't give work a second thought.
What did I do?
Not much - and it was spectacular!
I only left my hideaway twice - once for snacks and once for entertainment - the rest of the week was jam packed with lounging and gaming (VR and Boardgames).
I ended up leaving my vacation dreading going back to work and slightly addicted to VR gaming.
Oh! And one other note - one side effect from losing weight that I discovered - apparently I lost all the good cushioning in my butt and now I can't handle sitting in a car longer than 2 hours. My rear end was killing me - absolute worst part of the vacation - and to be honest there could have been worse things.

Closing Thoughts:
The Good:
I had a nice relaxing week away from work.
Caught up on some reading and actually finished two books on top of a stack of comics.
The Bad:
Neglected some chores during my time off and now I have some cleaning/tidying up to do.
The Ugly:
Although my week was relaxing - my sleep schedule was definitely thrown for a tailspin. Been lowkey exhausted all week and have been haphazardly falling asleep randomly in the middle of the day.

I NEED to hear abt biracial Izaya!!!
but I also need to know wtf an Almond Mom is
-💛
OKAY SO i actually did a thread over on the dead bird webbedsite on biracial izaya BUT FIRST TO ANSWER YER QUESTION: an almond mom is a mom that's super into weight loss and diet culture, to the point of rarely (if ever) buying anything "sugary" or "processed" for her kids, and encouraging restrictive eating habits in them. its derived from the phrase "a handful of almonds is a snack!!!" which is what a lot of these moms say. my mom was an almond mom and for instance i was VERY punished when i drank sunny d once. and i didnt get any like, standard Kid Cereals for a verrryyyyy long time. and she encouraged me to start counting calories.....while i was literally like. just starting to recover from anorexia. so yeah fuck almond moms
so this is the original thread i did on biracial izaya; turns out the info abt dual citizenship exceptions is a Fucking Lie because i mustve misinterpreted something while looking it up at ass o clock in the morninge
so the general idea is, izaya's biracial and darkskinned, but just.... doesnt mention it? at all? he likes to believe that people think he just tans well, but he's..... too dark for it to be a tan, especially a natural tan. and god knows the man does NOT spend enough time in the sun to get a tan
he still wears silver jewelry even though he looks way better in gold, as a way to distance himself from his heritage. he could know everything he wanted or even go to the damn country himself, but he doesn't because What's The Point, he never really knew much about it because his parents were too absentee to teach him, so he thinks what's the point! but a part of him does wonder if it'll make him feel more "at home" somewhere.... but he pushes the idea out of his mind lmfao!!!!!!!
as a kid he was really mad that he was biracial and yet hasn't ever actually been to iran, his parents were too busy being moonies with their business trips to bother actually taking him there ever. izaya knows he has a lot of family members there but he doesnt know shit or dicks about them- again he could easily look this stuff up and find out, but he thinks "what's the point"
though i think its because of his own closed-offness wrt his own emotions, plus he doesn't want to realize that the rest of his family is as shitty as his parents- he'd rather not touch it and wonder every so often, than spend valuable time and emotional vulnerability trying and it blowing up in his face!!!
also fwiw: his dad's japanese his mom's iranian, in this hc. (or maybe shes also biracial?) if shes biracial it means izaya's a quarter iranian, which he could go "its just a quarter who cares lol" and it could contribute to him feeling like he'd be an impostor if he did get more into the culture, since he's """"barely iranian"""

exact same shirt, two years apart.
(full story under the cut; 18+ please)
i weighed 225 in april 2020, up from 205 in december 2019 (no clue how that happened as life for me barely changed when the lockdowns started); i’m at 266 now, and i gained all this weight in 2021 and a little bit this year, believe it or not. i actually lost weight in quarantine, about 13 pounds: wasn’t eating much and things going on in my social life in the summer of quarantine contributed to the losses. tried getting it back over the winter, and more so when alex entered the picture. then my stepdad passed in april 2021 and all of a sudden, there was a lot more food in the house. i gained 25 pounds last summer, going from 221 to 246, followed by another five over the winter and then 15 spread out over the course of this year.
i don’t mind it: if anything, it feels good. healthy, even. my pants fit better (those old ones in the top pic fell down at every chance: they give me the biggest muffin top now 😅), everything is fuller and rounder, and i can eat a lot more—i feel stronger, too. i was always curious about the world beyond 220 pounds—from 2015 when i hit 200, to 2021 when my stepdad passed, i bounced around that range and i was curious about the 230s. now i’m actually looking at 270. 270 pounds, i should be gigantic (and my mom is planning on making gingerbread cookies and sugar cookies pretty soon here, too. gingerbread, with sugar, there’s also a few chocolate chip cookies and some oreos in the cupboard, and persimmon cookies atop the fridge. and she wants to make bread pudding at some point. and there’s apple pie in the fridge. and there’s chocolate on the coffee table before me. when i said “fuck diet culture”, i meant it.)
actually i kinda am gigantic now. i’m big.
just for reference, this was me in december 2019
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and this is me just now
Tumblr media Tumblr media
my bras are tighter now, too. i had difficulty keeping them on my shoulders in 2019/2020: they keep everything in place now, like they actually fit.
i felt emaciated back then, too. my stepdad, with all his problems, often snuck food when no one was looking, and objected to my mom and me treating ourselves. i couldn’t eat much—and you gotta eat. you gotta nourish yourself. he passed and suddenly, i could eat to my heart’s content, all the healthy food and all the sweet stuff.
my body widened out, i now have a definite double under my chin, and i have a potbelly now, and it’s kinda sexy, tbh. i feel really healthy: everything is where it should be and i haven’t had a cold or anything since 2019, interestingly enough. i do have a little snoring problem, but that’s about it, though. i’m not in pain and i’m not “aching” for anything. i was thin before the world came crashing down, but i wasn’t having a good time, though. i love to eat. i love sweet, fattening food. i love vegan food. i love meat and pasta and cheese. i love so-called guilty pleasures. i love mexican food, indian food, chinese food, japanese food, vietnamese food, filipino food, french food, german food, italian food, what the baltic countries do this time of year and just gorge until new year’s… i want to “eat across” a city some day. i love to eat, and i love to eat a lot.
i wish i got chubby as a teenager, if i’m honest. my story would have been so much different (just imagine: a fat field hockey player rather than a gaunt anorexic one, i probably would’ve stuck it out much longer). and i wish i could tell 13-year-old me that it’s really not at all bad because your body actually needs to be fed and that your thoughts are lying to you and the whole world is lying to you, actually, and you can feel good by eating whatever the hell you want, and come with me in unpacking diet culture and all the bullshit that makes women (and men) destroy their bodies all for the sake of chasing ideals which are pointless anyway because to change is to live and be human.
i remember being 19 on a camping trip to the oregon coast over thanksgiving 2012 and the backstory is it was a potluck dinner, and i brought a grasshopper pie because i’m actually from 1960. and no one touched it (one of the boys brought a pecan pie and that was more welcomed) and there was no room in the miniature fridge in our yurt. so, i ate this whole pie aside from two pieces missing. solo. on top of two helpings of thanksgiving dinner. three quarters of this creamy mousse pie made with crème de la menthe, marshmallow, and a chocolate crust. and this was well before i got heavy, too, this was back when i still weighed around 150 pounds, and before i dropped down to 139, too. i often think about that pie, too, how it made my then-slim belly swell up and it felt so right, and if i can do it now. i think that was the moment of clarity for me, in hindsight: the moment i thought, “i don’t want to torment myself anymore.” a fleeting thought, but i do remember thinking it.
in fact, i actually have a pretty distinct memory of being five or six years old and wishing i could eat everything and become fat, like i muttered it to myself when no one was paying attention (i looked at my naked body when no one was looking and i wished to be fat when no one was looking, the belly kink makes a lot more sense now, doesn’t it? 😜). i have no clue what happened to it, but my aunt used to have this old black and white photograph of me wearing denim jeans and cowgirl boots, and i had no shirt on, and i was pushing my belly out as far as i could go.
i wasn’t healthy thin, either. got sick a lot and nevermind b.m.i., it’s ableist and eugenicist and serves no one. you want to go with waist to hip ratio (those measurements divided by each other; you want under 0.80 to be considered healthy. and guess what? mine at the moment is 0.74, which is perfect. yes, even with my belly, i still pull off the numbers).
so, i have literally genuinely felt this desire to be a heavyweight my whole life: 5 year old me wanted a fat belly, 13 year old me wanted to look good, and 19 year old me wanted to feel good. it’s part of my truth. it’s just one part of who i am, and i’m finally just comfortable enough to talk about it.
so, as i write this, yes, i don’t feel negative about it (if anything… you want the truth? i don’t feel fat enough. it’s not like i’m lazy or sedentary, anyway: i’m gonna eat a big slice of apple pie with ice cream and whipped cream right now and then all my mom’s cookies, and everyone obsessed with dieting—and covering up—can die mad about it).
the last time i posted pix of myself, a bunch of people unfollowed me and blocked me. their loss, i say, especially when you see these:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(that faith no more shirt has been through so much: of course i love wearing it now)
another kind of interesting thing about gaining all this weight? i feel more tomboyish than ever. i’ll go through the fat-related tags on here sometimes and i’ll look at fat women, and they’re all very feminine. whatever rings true for you, absolutely (the one dress i have, i tried it on and from the side, i looked pregnant with my well-fed belly 🤷🏻‍♀️) but i think it’s interesting that there aren’t a lot of “sportier” girls such as myself. i want to keep wearing shirts and sexy camisoles and skinny jeans and flared jeans that accentuate my legs and my hips.
yeah, man. this is all me.

A hidden “resurrection system” torches fat EASILY
Tumblr media
Kelsey didn't think anyone could love a "fat girl" like her.
Especially after accidentally hearing a few boys talk trash about her.
“Yeah, I thought I could do the whole “fat girl” thing…
But after seeing her naked...
… I don’t think anybody could love all that!”
But that embarrassing moment actually led her to discover a hidden system that makes losing stubborn fat easy.
This hidden “resurrection system” is based on the research of a famous Japanese Nobel Prize-winning scientist.
And he discovered that it’s “buried” in nearly every cell of our body…
And all it takes to “activate” it is just 1 minute a day.
>> This hidden “resurrection system” torches fat
It’s not a new “fad” diet, exercise routine, or magic pill…
It’s not a powder, a probiotic, a weird exercise device, some book, or anything else like that.
You could call it the “missing piece” of the weight loss puzzle…
Because it targets the real, forgotten cause of weight gain.
Check it out by clicking on the link below:

Big pharma is trying everything it can to remove the link as it's costing them millions each day. So hurry up and check it out before it's taken down.

How To Lose Weight My Easy Way Without Hunger.
First, I have to give credit to #idiocracyusa who inspired this after I saw a post about how to judge how to check if your clothes fit. Actually I didn't actually read the reason for his post, but it was a load of pictures comparing good fit with fits that were too large or too small....but I will go back because right now I'm inspired to write about my easy way to lose weight.
For years I was around 150lb and 32" waist but could cram into 30" waist.
Around turning 50, I slowly rose to about 220 lb and 38" to 40" waist.
I really don't care about my appearance, I'm 75 now so I deserve no worries, lol .
But back at the time I dieted, I went down to 190 lb really easily.
Anyway a few years ago, I had been suffering from knee pains, and a routine blood test showed me to have high sugar levels, and my doctor advised that I need to lower the sugar intake.
After doing a sugar reduction, and in the process losing weight and having no knee pain, I found the easy way to diet
Now, my sugar intake was ridiculous, so that was easy to fix. At the time I was drinking about 3 or 4 mugs of coffee, each with 3 spoons of sugar.
I was also eating whole bags of candy regularly, as well as chocolate.
So....over the space of about a month I lowered my coffee to 2 sugars, then 1, then none.
I instantly changed from a mug to a cup. So the taste was the same once I was at a cup with 2 sugars compared to the mug with three. The real lowering was a bit more difficult, because I like sugar, lol. A lot....but by going down to just a single coffee a day, the bitter taste was only one event a day! And after lowering by a spoonful at each step, I became adjusted within about a week or so. I became aware of the lack of sugar, but it became less of an issue. I did a test by upping the sugar one time, and actually threw away the coffee because it tasted sickly to me.
I started to buy only diet pop instead of the regular sugared type I drink it instead of the extra coffees above the one coffee a day limit. Easy. I just changed the sugar addiction to a different product that had no sugar.
Now thats progress. Cutting out candy was in a way easier, I changed to crackers as my addictive replacement.
My knee pain disappeared and hasn't returned even though my weight has drifted back up to around 200lb. Remember now that my need was for lower sugar levels not weight loss. And this is not about staying slim, because that's the difficult part of dieting. I can only tell about how to lose weight relatively easily.
Now, I like to experiment. So, because I noticed the weight loss, I thought about that and I had read somewhere about a Japanese community where heart disease and strokes are almost unknown. And the people are all thin. So I tried their method, and it worked.
I was always simply loading up my food plate until it was about full. So, my first step was to use a slightly smaller plate. I could still load it up. Easy! No mental battle.
But, the Japanese people that I mentioned also had another technique. Its simple to do.
When we eat, we enjoy the food, and keep eating until we feel that we are full.
But here's the trick.....
If we eat until we are still hungry, in the middle of the meal, and then stop eating, the body adjusts to the fact that the available food has now been reached, and there simply is no more. So within about ten minutes or maybe twenty for sure, the hunger disappears.
Another funny thing apart from the lack of hunger, is the way that the weight lowers.
After I got going on the sugar lowering project, my weight didn't lower. No problem because I was lowering sugar, and weight loss was a side effect. But it was interesting. I would pop onto the scales every morning. And at the start the weight stayed almost the same, just fluctuating a little. Some days I was a pound of two heavier, some a pound or two lighter.
So, I applied my credit card debt reduction strategy to the weight. Although I weighed myself every day, I ignored the actual figures except after three or four days.
Like checking my credit card balance compared to the previous months amount owing.
What I was looking at was the trend. If I noticed the weight rising every day, I made slight meal size adjustment.
I basically looked at my weekly weight, although being aware of my daily figure.
Notice that I did not change my food at all, only the size of the meal. I still eat junk processed food, because I like it, and it saves my wife, who is Asian, so eats rice and weirdo veggies that I have zero knowledge of, so saves her the bother of cooking the western food for me alone. She is not retired yet because shes a lot younger than I am. I maintain my position as a spousal asset by doing small jobs around the house, and just being company for her when she has appointments etc. And of course I do as I am told because my policy re any relationship is that each person must be an asset to the other, I could say, serve the other. I dont need to be an alpha male all the time, just occasionally, actually I will admit, although its not about dieting, that during sex is my alpha male time but in small doses each session, LoL..... The hugging is more important..... because it ensures the supply of sex for the next time...... why am I saying this????? I need to get back to the diet....
Ah, yes, the food. Smaller portions. I did try going carb free for a while but its too tasteless for my needs.
Smaller portions, a few changes of food types as an occasional thing, but only if it tastes good.
I did, during the diet enthusiasm stage eat whole meals of frozen fruit. A great snack. No cooking required. Just grab a dish, fill it up as high as I like, ignoring the small serving policy because its fruit. If in a rush to eat, just a quick nuking in the microwave to thaw it out a bit, and away I go.
Summers here just about now, so time to get back on the fruit eating.
Anyway that's my way to reduce weight. Keeping it off is your challenge because I prefer to enjoy life LoL and dieting and maintaining the good portion sizes does require attention. I have slowly returned to treats like chocolate chip cookies,so actually I think that I will experiment with a few adjustments in food types starting after next shopping trip.
Oh, I digressed so much that I missed a point
As the diet method is followed, the weight loss seems to be failing, the weight remains about the same, but then suddenly I lost ten pounds. I maintained my same eating regime and it again didn't change much, until after another few weeks it suddenly dropped another ten pounds.
So the moral is, just keep going and dont worry about the speed of weight loss, or if the daily weight went up, just pay attention if it shows gains for several days in a row, then take action, reduce the meal size a little. A little. Just a little. The only time to make a big change is at the start, after that, its trending that matters.
My weight went back up because I decided to enjoy a few more treats.....but the initial 30lb loss was fairly stress free. I suspect that if I had maintained the fruit amount and no other changes, it would probably be enough to maintain and maybe increase the weight loss trend with just that one item.
Anyway good luck if anyone wants to try it.
