You slammed the dressing room door shut. “What the hell was that , Coriolanus?” pacing the length of the room, anger seeping out of you. “Did you forget what we were supposed to do? We were supposed to play it off, say we were too young. That was not playing it off! That was proposing!”
In your rage, you stumbled in your heels. He watched you curse under your breath, undoing the strap on them and throwing them across the room. Coriolanus didn’t move, cemented in his spot just past the door.
“Listen to me Y/N,” his tone was stern, like a parent scolding a child. “I didn’t mean to.”
“Of course you did!” you interrupted your voice tinged with sarcasm. “You always do whatever you want, don’t you? Here, the gala, the dinner. Always regardless of the consequences!”
Your words were sharp, digging in the fact that whatever was going on between you two there was meant to be a unified front, a single storyline. You were meant to be partners in the power play, both of you using each other to further your positions. All the work that went into constructing the next five years of the act was undone in an instant.
“I thought we were on the same page, Coriolanus. There was a plan for what we were going to do, but you just fucked it up!” He was always hypercritical of himself, internal monologue pointing out his every mistake, but you doing the same set him off.
“Can you shut up for five seconds! Or are you so self-obsessed that you can't let anyone else get a word in.”
“How dare you try and talk to me about being self-obsessed you narcissistic, unthoughtful-”
“There you go! Proving my point. You can’t even get off your high horse for a minute so I can explain why I did that.”
“You want to explain? Fine then, explain.” you spat.
Coriolanus’ jaw clenched. You were so hot and cold with him. He could never gauge what you really wanted in all of this, and you would never just tell him either.
“I saw an opportunity.”
“For what?”
“To play the part, to make the story so much better. Picture it, Coriolanus Snow, a man who has always been so organised and timely there are articles on how to put your life together like him, rushing into something. He’s so in love with his mentor’s daughter that he proposes to her on stage in front of all of Panem, and he doesn’t even have a ring on him because at that moment he realises that he can’t live without her.”
Your eyebrows were drawn, scanning over his face like you were looking for a fault in what he said, as you dissected it. There was nothing wrong with it though. The show was exactly how he described it. It painted him as a kind and caring man, beyond his known abilities at game making.
“You should have told me ahead of time.”
“I didn’t have a chance. I thought of it while getting ready.” he was lying, and you could tell. Seeing through lies was your speciality. He hadn’t thought about it while getting ready.
You called him on his bluff. “Bullshit. You didn’t have any plan, that was all impulse.” you were digging your finger into his chest to make your point. “You could have ruined everything we’ve been working on, made the past year pointless. What if I hadn’t followed along? What if I lost my composure for your little outburst? It’s not just your future on the line here Coriolanus. I’m leaving.”
Your shoulder bumped into his as you moved to walk out of the room, but his arm wrapped around your waist pulling you back and lifting you off the ground.
“Y/N,” he started.
“Let me go!”
“You don’t get to walk away from me. You need to listen to me.”
“I’m done listening to you, put me down!”
“Well, I’m not done talking!” Coriolanus pushed your back against the wall, pinning you in place.
Why couldn’t you just listen to him like you normally did? Why were you so upset with him? What he did was off-script but it still looked good, and it still achieved your shared goals. You didn’t get to walk away from him when he was right.
You slapped him, still able to move your arms. “I told you to let me go.” He tasted blood in his mouth. When he smiled at you, you felt your blood run cold.
“Are you done?” His teeth had traces of blood on them.
You weren’t about to be intimidated by him. You didn’t cower or beg anyone, and that included Coriolanus Snow. “Let. Me. Go.” your demands fell on deaf ears.
His smile only widened, eyes glistening with a sinister light. You thought he’d be furious with you, and hated that you were out of control, but it seemed more like he enjoyed it. That he liked it when you fought back.
“I told you Y/N, I’m not done talking.”
You moved to slap him again but were met with your wrists being grabbed and pinned above your head, utterly defenceless for whatever happened next. The expectation for him to strike you back weighing in the air. But he didn’t. Instead, his lips met yours, forcing your mouth open and letting his tongue in. You tried to fight back but he bit down on your lip and stopped you. His tongue only became more insistent. Copper on both your tongues.
You didn’t hate it. You were still mad at him, obviously, but the sexual tension that always between the two of you beckoned, its tendrils wrapping around you. Who said some angry sex wasn’t the solution to your being mad at him?
Your teeth clacked against each other as you jumped up, wrapping your legs around his midsection. Coriolanus’ free hand moved to support you. Standing like this he was able to grind his hips against yours, the friction delicious. The kiss was messy, both of you trying to prove something to the other with it.
When you pulled apart for air you spoke. “Let me go.” His breath was laboured, just as yours was, the rough makeout session leaving the both of you breathless.
“Not a chance, sweet girl.”
His grip on your wrists loosened, letting you slip free to pull at his hair, connecting your mouths once again. Your moans mixed with his own, body rolling to press your clothed pussy over his erection. Even though he had picked you up a multitude of times, it was always surprising how strong he actually was. His slim build did not give away how strong he actually was.
Everything between you was primal, driven by lust and anger.
Coriolanus brought you over to the couch, dropping you on your back. He liked you best like this, on your back and needy. Your high horse forgotten, and the only thing you rode him. The both of you took care to remove your clothes carefully, neither wanting to deal with a lecture from Tigris as well as knowing you had a dinner to attend in them after this. But that was where the caution ended.
The moment you were naked he had his fingers stretching you open with his thumb toying at your clit. His mouth was all over your skin, biting your breasts, adding to the marks already covering you. He was so rough with you and made you feel so small. But god did he know exactly what to do to you.
Your moans were sharp as he brought you to an orgasm. Everything you did drove him up a wall. Every time he thought he could move past it, ignoring the feeling, your pussy sucked him back in. It was your fault he made a mistake, that he lost his composure, that he went off script. He wanted access to your warmth whenever he wanted.
No matter how much he consumed you, he was still hungry, the type of hunger he hadn’t felt since the war. The one with claws that tore at his insides, teeth grinding into his bones. A bottomless pit that could never be filled. It clouded his mind with thoughts of you, your breasts and hips, the pout of your lips. He could almost always feel the sensation of you against him, biting into your soft flesh. It made him emotionally volatile, willing to risk everything for just a crumb. But every time he got a bite it filled him with dread.
Your perfume, boozy and peachy, a reminder that the only thing that would ever fill this hole was you. That when he was on the brink of death, starving and empty, it was you who would nourish him. Your being the very source of all his problems and all his solutions at the same time. A double-edged sword driving into his heart with every step he took towards you.
“See? Look how good you have it when you just behave.” you weren’t out of it yet, still able to spite back in vitriol.
“Fuck you.”
“Already have.” Coriolanus flipped you on your front, positioning you on your knees with your chest pressed against the couch.
Like this, he got to spread you open, look at what your body could offer him. Why did you have to be you? Why did you have to rival his mind and have such a perfect body? It ruined everything.
His fingers pressed back into you. He could watch you drip down them for hours, whiny and whimpering from his actions. Begging him to fuck you. No matter how you tried to act like you weren’t. You were just like him. Hungry and waiting.
Coriolanus lined up his cock with your entrance. Instead of easing into you, he thrust in fully, jolting your body forward. He wanted it to hurt, to make you feel sorry for blowing up at him. To show you that no matter how you acted out he could fuck you back into place.
He fucked you hard and fast, pulling your head back by your hair. It forced you up and to put your hands on the back of the couch. Your back arched, your shoulders almost against his chest. His other hand pinched at your nipples and tugged at them. It hurt, the perfect mix of pain and pleasure.
Moving his hand out of your hair, his fingers hooked into the side of your mouth. “Your mouth can be used for better things than being disrespectful.” your drool pooled around them, dribbling out the side of your mouth as you spoke.
“I’m gonna cum.” your speech altered from his fingers.
“I don’t care.” he did care, but he couldn’t let you know that, not right now. The biggest ego death to him would be if he was unable to make you cum. It fed his ego every time you clenched down around him, pussy fluttering from your orgasm. He didn’t slow down or let up, fully intent on taking his frustration out on you.
The air between you was hot and heavy, thick with the smell of sex. With his hands free, your waist became his new hold stone. Coriolanus didn’t even have to pull your hips to meet his, you were doing that for him, bucking backwards in time. Each trust had you panting little praises for him.
He wanted to see your face. You felt him pull out of you and then sit down on the couch next to you. “Ride me.”
You shifted, placing your knees on either side of him as you sunk down on his length. When you got to the base, you took a moment to recollect yourself, head tucked into the crook of his neck. Coriolanus’ lips found the crown of your head before he even recognised what he was doing. It was odd. This intimate act in the midst of all of this. He wanted to show you that he cared, that he wasn’t mad at you anymore. Why wasn’t he mad at you anymore? He was the type to let his anger fester, angry with infection. He waited until the moment was right and then he spread his sickness, cutting down whoever upset him. You were more useful than being cut down; however, he felt strongly towards you. The one thing he wouldn’t do is name those feelings.
The drag of your hips cut off his line of thought. He watched as you rode him, your thighs shaky but not letting it stop you. When you pulled your head out to kiss him he met you, enjoying the feeling of your lips against his. Hair and makeup would have a hay day with the two of you but the way you went all the way up, his tip the only thing inside you, to then your ass flush with his thighs made their annoyance worth it. Wanting to feel you cum around him again, his thumb began circling your clit, working you up to another orgasm.
“I’m close.”
“I know.”
Your hips slowed as you came, exhausted from riding him. But Coriolanus wasn’t done. His hand wrapped around your waist, moving you to an elevated position with his dick still inside you, and he began thrusting up into you. “Hold yourself just like that sweet girl.” You did as he told you, your head lulling to the front pressing your forehead against his. With a few final thrusts, he came inside you. You were winded, your eyes closed as he guided your bodies apart and grabbed a disposal west wipe to clean the both of you up. Finally, with that done, he could lay down and settle you on top of him, both of you naked and sweaty.
Neither of you spoke for a while, just listening to each other breathe, your head on his chest.
“I’m sorry.” apologises always felt like he was trying to speak a foreign language, his tongue struggling to make the sounds. “I shouldn’t have acted impulsively.”
“I'm sorry too. I shouldn’t have blown up on you.” his fingers traced your hairline as you lay on top of him, still reeling from the sex. “I just don’t like when things don’t go to plan, and they’ve not been going to plan between us.”
He couldn’t argue against that. Everything was so fuzzy between you. He didn’t know what you were feeling, but his feelings were you weren’t something he could ignore. When he said that he couldn’t picture his life without you it was true. He thought that speaking it out to the world would alleviate the pressure, and make it something he could keep inside himself, but he didn’t. He needed you to know that it meant it.
“Would it be so bad, marrying me?”
You picked your head up. “No,” you sighed. “It wouldn’t be.” He watched you find your original position, ear over his heart.
“We could be allies.” his heart pounded as you traced patterns on his skin. “You’re the first person I’ve met I’d consider that with. I could make you the First Lady of Panem.”
Being the First Lady was an appealing idea. You’d be able to do so much more in that position. It was a core belief of yours that the games were only the first step in binding the loyalty of the country, to furthering the control over the populace. Aid programs needed to be doled out in the Districts. People who were content were less likely to look behind the curtain and see what was really happening.
“What happens when you fall in love with someone? Would we divorce and I’d lose everything, both the games and my position?” there was uncertainty in your voice.
There could never be someone after you. You were it for him. Sure he could find a docile wife and marry her, leave her be and just have kids with her. But she could never truly know him. But you could, and you were learning the true him. And you wouldn’t make him separate his work and home life, you’d dive into it with him, lethal and cunning.
“That won’t happen,” he was blunt with his statement. “You’re the only one I could do this with.”
It felt like the weight was finally lifting off him some. The pressure that had been building and threatening to blow, to whistle like a kettle. As much as he had intended for your relationship to be a temporary political alliance, he wanted it to be permanent. He didn’t trust people, but he was growing to trust you, knowing that your goals were ultimately the same.
“But what if it does?” He had never seen you so worried about his feelings, genuine concern. “Or what if I fall in love with someone else?”
“Y/N,” his thumb brushed your lips, making you face him again. “I promise you that is never going to happen. Okay?”
“Okay.”
With a final look of determination, kissed you, his lips bruising against your own. He was hoping that it conveyed that he meant it with all his heart. He was never going to fall in love with someone else, the home you made in his heart was always going to be yours. The decor exactly how you left it if you ever walked away, waiting for you to come back. You’d never get the chance to walk away but that was the sentiment, that he could forgive you for leaving him if he took you back and you stayed with him. A dove with a broken wing was still a dove. It might not be able to soar in the slides, free from the gravity of the world, but it was still a dove. Even if he broke you and locked you up, you’d still be you.
He could never love another, not when he loved you. Coriolanus loved you. The realisation shook him, a tempestuous collision of the man he was and the man he wanted to be. The crack formed by Lucy Gray was broken open once again by you. He had convinced himself that love was a weakness, that it was something to be exploited. Over the past year of getting to know you, getting to be with you, you had challenged his core beliefs, forcing him to confront the fact that he loved you.
It was hard admitting it to himself. Just hours earlier he had told Tigris off for even suggesting the idea of it, vehemently denying it. He didn’t want to love you then, terrified at the idea of you finding out and leaving. But you had said it wouldn’t be so bad to be married to him, that you’d be willing to be allies for the rest of your life. The truth was there though, written into every interaction he had with you. The glaring reality that he could no longer ignore, lingered in his eyes like a burned-in image.
It was terrifying, the exact opposite of the control he wanted to have over those around him, to have you control his heart. The practised emotional detachment he had led his life with failed in his darkest hour. The fear that you’d be just like Lucy Gray and run. It didn’t matter that you both worked on the games, that he had seen you develop new ways to punish the Capitol’s enemies, that you had just as much darkness within you as he did. That you were as ruthless as he was. The betrayal he had once experienced at the hands of a District dog had him petrified of it happening again.
Could he erase your existence like he did hers if something happened? The thought was both horrifying and tempting. He didn’t want it to come to that, to erase you, to discard you like a broken toy. You were better than Lucy Gray, you wouldn’t betray him. He wouldn’t let you. But he couldn’t come to you with this, not yet. Coriolanus Snow needed you to break down and beg him to tell him that he loved you. When he could see you, lost in your feelings for him, then he could tell you. Not before, not after. But at the moment when you are in desperate need of him, he could tell you. Only then could he believe that you loved him too.
______________________________________
Things have been busy since then and luckily you have been able to avoid conversation with your mother too. Coriolanus and you had no time to talk about your game plan and what would've happened next as the games started. Every day you were at the Citadel, ensuring things ran smoothly. He was there too, doing his own work, but the amount you had to do kept you from each other. It wasn’t until after the games ended that the two of you got a moment alone. Of course, you had been to several events together but you couldn't talk about things there. So when the last person left the production room, you were finally alone with him.
“Did you mean what you said that night on the balcony, that it was hard pretending that you loved me?”
The two of you were in his private lab. You were sitting on the edge of his desk instead of a chair, something he noticed you liked to do. After the cameras had been turned off you had taken your hair down from the pinned updo made of a braid, letting the braid hang loose.  The heels you were wearing off your feet and lost in the room. Coriolianus’ head was in your lap as your fingers brushed through his hair. The slight stubble he’d grown over the last two days catching on your tights.
His voice was muffled by your thigh. “No.”
“No you didn't mean it or no it isn’t hard pretending that you love me?” Your fingers were putting him to sleep. It had been so long since he had been touched like this. He only had one strong memory of his mother. They had been sitting before the fire, her belly full with his younger sister, her finger running through his, much like your own, singing a song he couldn’t remember now, the melody lost with time.
“No,” he finally replied, groggy. “It’s not hard pretending that I love you”
There was a flicker of hope within you when he first confessed to you that night on the balcony. You had convinced yourself that he was being vulnerable with you then, letting you in. Was this him adding kindling to that fire or dousing it?
“Is it easy then?” Each word was laced with intrigue and tinged with trepidation. The question wormed itself into the conversation, hanging in the air like the hum of the machinery. He tensed under you like he had been unprepared for this conversation, a betrayal of how he normally was.
Coriolanus’ response was slow, deliberate and weighted, with every individual syllable chosen carefully. “No, it’s not easy either.” The threading of your fingers felt so good against his scalp, it was criminal. “It’s neither easy nor hard, it’s necessary.” He shrugged with that statement, drowsy from the long day and your actions.
It was strange seeing him like this, his head in your lap as he was half asleep. The Coriolanus you knew was a man of fronts, never betraying his persona of unwavering composure and unyielding strength. He was smart and capable, bringing the Snow family back from the brink of destruction. But now there was no front present. He was relaxed and open, the tension in his shoulders finally released as he rested on your thighs. You could see every pore of skin, every hair out of place. There was a faint scar above his lip, so blended with his skin that you had never seen it before. It had access to the same medical and cosmetic treatments as you did meaning that he had left this one there on purpose. A reminder of something that had happened to him.
You chewed on his words as you watched him. It was neither easy nor hard pretending that he loved you, it was necessary. It was a non-answer, a refusal to tell you his feelings on the matter, that itself a revealing statement. He was used to his words working on others, his honied lips spinning the sweetest lies. But you had watched him, seen him change over the years. Coriolanus was a man burdened with his own demons that sat at the table with him. There was an understanding in that. You had your own demons that sat in the corner of your room every night, watching you sleep and whispering dangerous things. Neither of you were innocent good-hearted people, both of you violent and deadly.
But his cracks were showing, and that night under the stars with too much to drink, he had let you see just how much they were cracking. You were willing to pick up the pieces and help him put them back together. Your own feelings were the same as his, you were just better at hiding it.
“My father wants us to have an engagement party.”
“When?”
“In two weeks at my family estate,” knowing your father, it was going to be a spectacle. He doted on you. “But he wants to have a private dinner before that, just your family and mine.” His only family was Grandma’am and Tigris. If you wanted to, you could count the Plinths as family, even though he hated the thought of having any relationship with them.
“That’s fine. I’m sure Grandma’am will be excited, she’s been pestering me about marrying you while she’s still alive to see it.”
“She wants you to marry me?”
He murmured some form of agreement, still out of it. “She says you make me smile like I haven’t since I was a boy. It’s annoying actually, she keeps demanding that I bring you around for lunch.” This was news. Your interactions with Grandma’am had always been under the pretence of public events, you never thought much of them, but apparently she had. More than that, she thought more of your effect on her grandson.
“You should be kinder to her, you don’t know how long she’s got left.”
Coriolanus’ head lifted from your lap, rubbing his eyes as he propped his head up on a hand. “I know,” it wasn’t nice to have to think about the fact his Grandma’am was up there in age, that she maybe had another 15 years left. If that. “I’ll tell her we’ll do lunch then.”
Your smile was irresistible. “Good. The least you can do for her is let her think that you’ve found someone you genuinely love, and who loves you just as much. She’ll never know that it's just an act either. It’ll let her rest easy knowing you’re taken care of.”
His heart sank, and his stomach dropped out and onto the ground.
“Yeah, it’s a good act too.”
______________________________________
Coriolanus paced in the foyer, stopping every so often his fingers fidgeting with the knot of his tie, loosening and tightening it. His outfit was simple and smart today. His father's button-up with a red tie, a grey pinstripe waistcoat and matching trousers. The black leather of his oxfords had been polished earlier in the morning. He felt antsy, just wanting to get this luncheon over with. He shouldn’t have told you that Grandma’am wanted this, he must have been out of his mind when he did.
“Coriolanus my boy,” Grandma’am had snuck up behind him, making him jump as she put her hands on his shoulders. “You look as handsome as always, you’ve got nothing to worry about.”
His smile was weak in the mirror, not reaching his eyes. “Thank you Grandma’am.” She fiddled with the shoulder of his shirt, lining it up properly as it had been moved from his walking around.
“You must really love her if it’s got you like this.”
“I do.” The words were heavy. This was the first time he had acknowledged his feelings for you to another person. The vulnerability threatened to consume him.
“I’m glad,” her eyes became teary as she spoke. “Your mother loved your father so much. I remember their wedding day. She was so nervous, running around like a rabbit. You remind me of her sometimes.” she threw her hands up like the statement was outlandish. “But of course, you’re more like your father than anything else. Strong Coriolanus Snow.”
They rarely talked about his parents, or Tigris’ parents, like this. It was easier for them all to let the dead stay dead. A bittersweet ache spread through him.
“I’m glad.” He reached out and took Grandma's hand, offering her some comfort. Talking about her dead children always set her off. They stood in silence for a beat, hand in hand, each processing their own feelings before he shattered the quiet.
“It’s easier to let the dead stay dead.”
Grandma’am nodded, her handkerchief to her eye to clean up the tears she had spilt. “Sometimes,” she acknowledges, “the past is too painful to revisit. But it’s important to remember Coriolanus. To remember the love, the laughter, the life that was lived. To honour those who came before you.”
But he didn’t want to remember the past. The past made everything worse.
The ring of the elevator cut the conversation short. You were here, and he was nervous. This was no different than a public event, you both knew the parts to play, but it was so different at the same time. You were in his family home, eating with him and his Grandma’am, and doing it purely because you thought she deserved to think someone loved him. Doing it because you cared for her. It was here that his history echoed, ghosts of the past hanging on every wall. Remnants of the boy he once was tucked away in boxes, now dusty with age.
As the elevator doors opened, revealing you standing there, those boxes came out of storage and were placed on the table for you to sort through.
“Oh! Miss Gaul! Please come in.” Grandma’am rushed towards you, excited to have you over.
“Grandma’am,” you chided, pulling her into a hug. She had shrunk in her old age and your heels didn’t help the equation, making you bend down to do so. “I’ve told you a thousand times to call me Y/N. Plus soon enough I’ll Mrs. Snow.”
“I know, I know, I just forget sometimes. Perhaps I should just call you Mrs. Snow!”
“Now I think that’s a wonderful idea!” You took a second to greet Coriolanus with a kiss and then went back to chatting with Grandma’am taking her hands in your own.
You were so delicate with her, it pained him to watch you be so kind to her. You nodded along diligently to whatever she said and were actively engaging in the conversation. He could tell that you weren’t pretending to care and that you actually wanted to speak with his grandmother. She was so animated with you like years had been removed from her. He had spent so long trying to protect her from all that had happened, and all that he had done. His actions had severed parts of their relationship, and with Tigris not living in the apartment anymore, she must have grown lonely. But you brought her back, the vibrant woman who could connect with the world.
Coriolanus sidled up to you, arm wrapping around your waist. “I hate to interrupt your conversation ladies, but I do believe Y/N came here for lunch.” It felt so right to have you like this.
“Yes, yes, Coriolanus,” Grandma’am started, “I’ll go make sure the cook has prepared everything. Why don't you show Y/N into the dining room.”
“Of course, Grandma’am.”
Alone, he nipped at your ear, his breath making your heart skip a beat. His hands were warm, one placed on your stomach the the other on your arm. You could smell the mint on his breath when he uttered a whisper in your ear, his voice low and husky. “You look stunning today.”
You were wearing all black today, something that went against the average Capitol woman. It was a high neck mini dress, stopping a few inches above your knee. The sleeves were long, longer than your hands and instead of normal holes, the fabric was spliced up to your elbow. Your heels were lower than they normally were from press events, no doubt more comfortable. The splash of colour came from your earrings. They were red, with a velvety coating on them, and shaped like rose petals separated and hung on a chain. You had remembered Grandma’am’s love of roses.
“It’s not for you, you know.” you took every opportunity to tease him. “But thank you.”
You had no idea what you did to him. “If it were for me it’d be on the floor by now.”
“Well then, it’s a good thing this is for Grandma’am and not you.” You patted his cheek. “Now are you going to show me to the dining room Coriolanus?” When you said his name you mirrored the way his Grandma’am said it.
A crooked grin rose on his face with a small laugh. “With pleasure, my dear,” he replied biting your ear again before leading you through the grand hallways of the apartment. His hand never left your back until you were sat down. You were on Coriolanus’ right, with his chair being at the head of the table.
The table was smaller than the average dining room table in the Capitol, unsurprising given the number of Snow family members there were left. It looked to seat about 10 people maximum. It was a dark-stained wood, a style that was popular in the prewar days. The walls were a pale blue, covered in a patterned wallpaper. The signature tile flooring of the apartment was carried into the dining room, laid in a geometric style with the table in the centre. It was all a testament to the family’s long history and enduring presence in the Capitol, a microcosm of the Capitol itself.
“Have you told her about the dinner?”
“No I haven’t had a chance yet-”
“What dinner?” Grandma’am sauntered into the room, waiting for Coriolanus to pull out her seat so she could sit. “The cook prepared quite a  lunch today,” she listed out the menu after she sat down, Coriolanus returning to his own seat, arms resting on the table.
“That all sounds wonderful Grandma’am. Corio’s told me how wonderful your chef is.”
“Yes, I do agree. It took me ages to find one that I liked, so many of them are lacklustre these days.”
“Well I hope my family’s chef won't disappoint you then.” you grabbed his hand on the table. “My father wanted me to invite you to a family dinner on Friday evening. It’s just a small get-together to introduce everyone to each other properly. After all, we’ll be one family soon.
“Oh, that is a wonderful idea! I’ve always had such admiration for your father’s interior design work.” Grandma’am's voice faded out for Coriolanus as she spoke. Rambling about how your father had ‘brought back the elegance of the Capitol’ through his job. Coriolanus was focused on one thing.
You were wearing the ring. He had gone in between rings for what felt like a millennium till settling on a custom made. It was reminiscent of the one he remembered his mother wearing, covered in diamonds and made of gold. Your was made of platinum, far more durable than gold and less like the be damaged by your time in the labs and only plated in gold. The centre stone was large, 1.5 carats, an emerald cut diamond. The style of the ring was similar to an ornate mirror. There were 22 stones in total, each one glittering from the chandelier's light. He hadn't stopped with just the one ring either, he needed to decorate you in the finest jewels he could buy with the Plinth family fortune. That's why your index finger had a stack of thinner, geometric, stack complimenting the engagement ring.
It thrilled him. Wedding rings were no more than a shackle connecting you to him. A show of his authority over you. Marrying you wasn’t about companionship, it was to own you. To change your last name to his own and let everyone know that he would never leave you alone. Maybe he’d let you hyphenate your last name, and you’d like that, it went against the norm.
His thumb rubbed against his own engagement ring. His was simpler, he didn’t enjoy the over-the-top couture and showmanship of the Capitol, a think gold plated platinum band with a matching kite cut diamond flush set into it. The kite shape echoed by etchings around the placement. You had picked the ring out for him after seeing your own, saying that you wanted it to match with yours. It was ironic that you chose a kite shape. They flew high in the sky, a symbol of freedom and soaring ambition.
The luncheon was nice, you had to admit. You didn’t have a living grandmother and it was nice to talk with Grandma’am as you ate. She kept telling stories of Coriolanus’ youth, much to his chagrin. The stories, and how he treated her, were different than what you had expected. He was cold towards Tigris, but he had so much warmth towards Grandma’am. What had happened between the two that caused a rift? Grandma’am spoke as if the two had been thick as thieves growing up.
When the plates were cleared, you joined Grandma’am in the kitchen as she made coffee for the two of you, Coriolanus somewhere in the apartment answering a message on his communicuff. You had offered to do it but she insisted on doing it herself, telling you that the machine was too complicated for a guest to use. But you know exactly how to use it, but that was a secret.
When she sat across from you, both your mugs steaming, her eyes were sombre. “Can you be honest with a foolish old woman?”
“I don’t see any old women here, but I can be honest.” her chuckle was wethered and dry, telling of someone who had lived through too much.
“I know my Coriolanus is a difficult man,” she always insisted on using his full name. “He’s much like his father in that regard, and I would know having raised them both. But you’re good for him. When I see him with you it's like all the horrible things he had to live through are forgotten, and that he’s that smiling boy  running around the apartment with his mother chasing after him again.” Grandma’am’s voice broke as the spoke, teetering on the edge of crying.
You grabbed her hand and squeezed it. She loved him so much.
“I love him Grandma’am, I really do.” candour in every word you spoke. “With him, I feel like I can do anything, be anything. Sometimes I think it’s all too good to be true and that one day I’ll wake up and this was all a dream that I had. Every day I pinch myself to make sure it's still real.”
“Will you always?”
“There’s no future in which I don’t love him. He’s my now and always. And even if one day we weren’t together anymore, I’d still love him and I’d still support him. Just like he’d do the same for me.”
As you spoke Grandma’am’s tears flowed freely, but they weren’t tears of sadness, they were tears of gratitude. She saw in you that she didn’t have to worry anymore, that someone other than her would love him unconditionally. Be a sanctuary to his troubled heart.
“Thank you.” as the older woman bawled you got up to hug her, rubbing her back as she sobbed.
Coriolanus had heard the whole thing but he couldn’t tell if you had said it for her or it was a confession of your true feelings. You were always perfect at playing your part.

Angst prompts -- "Why are you still here?" Chot & Uzuri
It was a late evening by the campfire, the clouds obscuring even the Moon Orb this night. The girls had gone to bed in their tent and Chot was taking first watch. Uzuri hadn't turned in just yet, something was on his mind.
Uzuri had been a jackass again. It was in his nature, it seemed. He hated whatever part of his past that made him have that hair trigger response. But instead of telling him to hush up, Chot just...didn't answer. Had he hit an actual nerve? He hadn't spoken to him directly all night.
The tension was thick in the air as Chot was darning his socks across the fire from him. His big hands seemed like they'd be ill-suited for such delicate work, but he nimbly sewed the holes shut regardless. Chot felt his eyes upon him and he glanced up and Uzuri looked away.
Uzuri growled, frustrated at the pregnant silence between them. He went for it.
"Chot...why are you still here?"
Chot looked up, alarmed, "what do you mean?"
"I mean-! Your mission is complete already. We saved the Isle from the Gloom, and we freed the souls of the dead. Why are you sticking around?"
Chot looked rather insulted. "How dare you?"
"Wuh-?"
Chot threw his socks back down into his bag. "After everything we've been through together...YOU want ME to leave?!"
"N-no! I'm wondering WHY you haven't! After all the crap you've had to suffer through because of me? Why wouldn't you want to leave!?"
Chot looked at him, then looked up at the sky and sighed. He crossed around the fire and sat next to him.
"Uzuri...you're an ass. You've got a variety of problems. Your flight and height anxiety, your corroded silver tongue, your inability to stop yourself from pilfering a loose wallet. This is...true. But you are also my best friend. I have never confided in else the way I do you. You personally axed off the man I fear the most, so I wouldn't have to. Would Rosa do that? I don't know! Deliah?...Maybe. She's a lil-" he waggled his hand to say 'off-balance' - "Yknow."
Uzuri scoffed, "YEAH."
"But YOU came through for me. You slew my dragon. I owe you. So even if you sling me some attitude every once in a while, I KNOW you got me when it counts. I might get a bit huffy, but it doesn't mean I'm going anywhere. I'm with you to the end of the line."
He raised his fist and Uzuri bumped it. Chot gave him a side hug.
"You're not gonna leave me?"
"No one could possibly get between us. You're my best friend. My first real friend. Besides... Anyone who's seen me get Feather Itch and scrape my wings around in that gravel patch -like a dog in the dirt- needs to stay where I can watch them."
"I still have the pictures."
"And I will find them one day..." He glowered.
"Good luck..."

(Y/n) felt baffled from what Kafka had told her. For a Mara-stricken individual, he managed to maintain more than just a shred of his sanity, his senses, and his distant memories where most involved would've been buried deep in their graves.
All maintained by a simple desire, a longing to see a beloved he had left behind so unwillingly. The cradle of arms he fled from as soon as things had fallen from their originally planned course.
(Y/n) left Kafka's questioning to someone else, and she moved away to ponder on her thoughts and opinions. Her heart was heavy with guilt and misery, feeling empty and lonely. Her steps were hollow and light, walking off without a motive.
Perhaps it was the Dan Jia in her heart that longed for the arms of her lover's embrace...? Could that still be possible despite her accepting the fact that Dan Jia was once her past and she had learned to let go of the past, Dan Jia still had longings ?
Or...was it herself that yearned for what she once had, with a lover reformed anew ?
(Y/n) admitted that she indeed longed for Blade, his arms and warmth bringing her great comfort and familiarity. She admitted that perhaps there was a longing for his renewed self to be with her as they once were, but was that what she really wanted...?
All he wanted was to go home and rest...
And all she wanted was to dance again under the moonlight...
But what about Jing Yuan...?
She couldn't just leave him. She didn't have the heart to. Not after what he had done for her before and after her slumber...
But if the time came to choose...
She would choose--
"Lady (Y/n) !" a voice snapped her out of her thoughts.
The dragon lady immediately turned around to face the voice that called for her, and there was the Fu Xuan, looking straight at her and coming up to the taller lady.
"Fu Xuan." (Y/n) greeted with a nod of her head. She knew what the Master Diviner wanted to ask her. It was an itching question that everyone who saw what Fu Xuan did and heard what Kafka said clearly had the same questions.
What was her connection to Blade...?
"I'm sorry if it stirs up...distant woes..." Fu Xuan began, feeling a little hesitant to ask the question plaguing her mind.
"B-but I hope you understand the utmost importance of this information ! It's for the safety of--!" "Worry not, Master Diviner." (Y/n) said softly, her gaze softening as her luminescent (e/c) eyes landed on the pink haired lady, who was usually so composed, now reduced to a stuttering mess in her presence.
"I...was Blade's past lover. Well...Dan Jia was." (Y/n) said, a hand on her heart that beat so distantly in her chest. She felt a gnawing void eating away inside her, so she moved her hand to the accessory dangling by her pointed ear, fiddling with it with her fingers.
"The legend of the lovers under the moon...isn't merely a legend, you know ?" She said with a silent sigh, a distant look in her eyes.
It was a legend. It was widely believed to be true, a strong belief amongst the commonfolk to never overstep the boundaries of interracial romance, lest they befall the pain of separation due to the differences in their lifespans.
The legend was indeed true, but it wasn't the entire truth either. It was a forged story to show the disastrous end of the lovers. The one that died. And the other that fell into madness. It served as a warning to remind them. But of course, it was treated as a tragic love story and had young lovers to be daring like the heroes in the tale.
"But Lady (Y/n)-- AH!"
The ground beneath them shook, a loud rumbling filled their ears along with sharp gusts of wind whizzing past them. The wind was exceptionally dangerous, most of them struggling to keep their eyes open.
"Lady Fu Xuan !" (Y/n) called out, reaching for Fu Xuan's hand to help stabilize their stance on the shaking platform.
That was...before she heard Tingyun shout over the gusts.
"Th-The Ambrosial Arbor !"
(Y/n)'s head whipped from looking at the Master Diviner to the direction where the dormant tree would've been. And she gasped, the sight before her sending cold chills down her spine.
She had never seen this before. Not in all her hundreds of years living.
The tree that had been subdued for eons...was growing again. The trunk got taller and taller, gold substance running through its veins with power and life. Fiery golden leaves sprouted and combust into eternal flame, lighting up the sky with green-yellow fire that could never be put out. Some began to shed, its eerie golden sheen making it seem like it was gold leaves instead of fruit of the forbidden. Words began to hang from the trees like large talismans, words of immortality and curses in headlines.
Screams of civilians were loud and heard from the streets, the divination commission, filled with terror and question and horror. No one had ever foreseen the signs of the tree, feeding seeds of terror like plague spreading.
But this was indeed the sign of the Abundance. The forbidden seed that the Plagues Author Yaoshi had planted. And it was blooming again.
Stelle looked at the tree in concern, though she knew little of its origin and its representation. The Stellaron Hunter behind her smirked, already anticipating this from the anonymous source, Destiny's Slave.
Kafka chuckled, a sweet sound of her sigh as magenta eyes watched the chaos and discord surrounding her. The binds that held her wrists together snapped in a blink of an eye, without the littlest effort. She admired the state of her body and her clothes, before turning to head off without anyone noticing.
"Stelle !" (Y/n) exclaimed as when she rushed over and heard the sound of the chains snapping into nothingness. The female trailblazer perked up, turning to (Y/n) who pointed in direction to Kafka who was escaping without hesitation nor curiousity.
Just as she was about to catch up to Kafka, a figure with long dark hair landed between them, separating the two. The divine weapon in his gloved hand shone, the gold in the cracks glittering in the dim lighting as the figure stood up.
Dangerous red eyes watched Stelle carefully, his blade pointed to the young woman menacingly. Then they landed on (Y/n), without a hint of surprise nor did he even try to search for her.
Blade knew she was there.
But (Y/n) was shocked to see him.
Lover or not, he was threatening the lives of the innocent, so she rushed forward and pushed the taller girl behind her, fan in her hand. She was ready to fight him should the need arise.
But looking into his tired but passionate eyes, she knew he had no intention to attack. Just standing still to serve as a warning.
"Let's go, Bladie~" the wine-red haired woman called out as she looked down from the platform they were standing on, as if to approximate the height of the platform to the main ground or to foreplan their landing.
"Two more places to visit..." the woman said, before turning around and falling off the ledge freely, arms widespread as she did.
Blade immediately put the shattered sword behind his back in a stance, giving (Y/n) one last longing glance. It seemed that he had more to say but out came no words nor did his mouth open to say the words he desired to whisper.
But they needed no words to be able to tell what he wanted to say.
"Stay out of this."
With that he swiftly left and dived down, following after Kafka.
The two swiftly landed on the ground and merely walked through the public without the need to hide nor camouflage. The revival of the Ambrosial Arbor served as the perfect distraction.
Kafka smiled and laughed softly as she walked past the guards and civilians, taking in the sweet feeling of fear, a feeling she wasn't able to experience herself. Then she saw her companion that looked a little less than usual.
"Oh, don't look so disdainful, Bladie...you'll get to see that princess soon than later." She said with a soft chuckle leaving her slightly chapped lips.
"No." The brooding man answered in a deep voice, as if holding back his own emotions and thoughts.
"I don't want her to get involved. I don't want her to get hurt."
"But with the path chosen, she'll have to get involved, whether she likes it or not." Kafka replied with a sorry smile on her lips.
Ah...lovebirds...
"Agh ! Did Kafka escape ? How are we supposed to explain this to the Master Diviner ?!" March groaned, looking down from the platform they stood on, then back to (Y/n) and Stelle.
"If what she said is true, then we wont have to explain anything." Stelle said, and (Y/n) who stood next to her nodded, a frustrated frown on her lips.
"H-hey ! D-did she brainwash you ?!"
(Y/n) chuckled softly and shook her head in amusement.
As they were heading back to meet up with the Master Diviner, who (Y/n) had left hanging a while ago due to the fear of the Stellaron Hunter running lose before them, they had met up with a certain foxian Amicassador who was standing on one of the bridges on the other end of the screens, staring at the tree in awe.
"Wasn't this the dead tree Qingque showed us earlier ? How did it grow all of a sudden ?" March asked as they watched the fiery tree blazing in the distance, fire eternally burning without leaving any ash nor dying out.
"Amazing ! Absolutely amazing !" Tingyun gasped, watching the Ambrosial Arbor with intense fascination in her eyes. "Even the long-lived might not witness something like this in their lifetime ! I'm incredibly lucky !"
(Y/n) could merely stare at the brunette, suspicion in her bright (e/c) eyes. Was this a normal reaction towards the plagues of abundance thriving ? She would've expected a more...horrified reaction, but...maybe that's youth these days ?
Perhaps they didn't really account towards the horrible meaning the tree represented. Nor the sacrifices made to keep it sealed deep down in waters...
"No. This isn't something to rejoice about." (Y/n) said sternly, glaring at the tree with hate and remorse. "This tree...is a plaguemark of the Plagues Author. And it was by no normal means was it revived. It was meant to stay dormant, and sealed."
"Such...extraordinary energy. It's no doubt the Stellaron." Welt said, stepping up and pushing up his glasses up his nose.
"Mr. Yang, do you mean...that the Stellaron is making the Ambrosial Arbor grow ?" March asked, looking at the older man who stood next to the former High Elder of the Xianzhou : Luofu.
"Yes, the Stellaron that the Cloud Knights are searching for must be causing this anomaly !" Welt said, looking at (Y/n) who looked oddly guilty, seeming restless.
She knew the reason for the seal growing weak. It was her own fault. But...
She looked at her own hands.
She alone isn't enough to seal the power. Her power is split into two, and she has no idea whether the authority still lied within her, or was it passed onto Bailu, the current High Elder...?
And she didn't know what happened after Imbibator Lunae's execution. Was he safe ? Where was he ? What did he look like now ?
Welt noticed the anxiousness of the woman next to him, and placed a comforting hand on her shoulder as he tried not to startle her. He smiled warmly at her, nodding his head.
"Whatever the cause, we must first go meet Lady Fu Xuan." He said, looking straight into (Y/n)'s eyes.
Yes. That was exactly what they needed right now. So she nodded her head. Welt nodded again, relieved that she was alright and still within the zone.
So off they went, walking towards the inner gates of the Divination Commission to find Fu Xuan.
"Unless Kafka deceived the Matrix of Prescience..." Fu Xuan mumbled, putting her hand to her lips, anxiously biting on her thumb subconsciously.
"Stay calm, Master Fu, the Matrix of Prescience does not lie." Jing Yuan said softly. "The logic you laid out concerning Kafka makes sense-- it helped me fill in another piece of the puzzle."
"I agree that there is a hostile external force at work on the Luofu. The Stellaron didn't appear out of thin air-- someone managed to sneak it onto the ship." Jing Yuan explained to the anxious Master Diviner, but his own face looking grim and serious, noting that this wasn't something to be taken lightly.
"As for the culprits behind the Luofu's internal strive, I believe we are dealing with the so-called Disciples of Sanctus Medicus-- that shadowy organization of the Denizens of Abundance."
"Kafka's revelation's confirm my suspicions." Jing Yuan said with a nod of his head, a small smile on his lips.
But his insight was what shocked Fu Xuan instead of relieving her. "You..." She stuttered, thinking about her choice of words for a bit. "General, when did you have these suspicions ?"
This man surely wasn't a force to be taken lightly. But with that lazy gaze of his and his lack of enthusiasm for work made people look down on him or even disregard him as a threat.
But he wasn't the one of the seven Arbiter-Generals for nothing.
"The moment the planter of the Stellaron revealed themself." He said simply, crossing over his arms. "The Xianzhou has the blessing of the Reignbow Arbiter-- only another Aeon's Emanator would be capable of sneaking onto the ship without my knowing."
"We are dealing with an external threat."
"The Stellaron corrosion continues to flood into the ship, yet it bypassed both the Seat of Divine Foresight and The Shackling Prison...there is forethought here-- our enemy must have had the access to Luofu Intelligence for things to unfold this way..." Jing Yuan said, looking around the base of the Divination Commission.
This reminded him of a scene long in the past.
Of an arrogant man seeking to be paid favor by the man with the coldest stares and the most selfish and self-centered man, resulting the in the death of a beloved.
"It is evident now..." Jing Yuan sighed softly.
Shall events come to unfold the same as in the past, he wouldn't let the same outcome happen again. No. This time, he's an adult with power and experience.
He'd do anything to protect that soft smile on those smooth lips he watched to be still for centuries.
"The Stellaron Hunters..." Jing Yuan addressed, looking at a little solemn at the mention of the faction. "They aren't the ones behind the curtain. No, as soon as I set eyes on Blade, it was clear to me. But why is he here ?"
He knew the answer to that question. But that wasn't enough of a reason. Why did he bring Kafka ? Why this timing with the Stellaron burst ?
"And why did he draw the Astral Express ? That piece of the puzzle still eludes me."
The man thought long and hard about it, but he was still confused to specifically why the Astral Express had to be brought here onto the Xianzhou Luofu. Why not anywhere else ? Why during this timing ?
He couldn't answer that himself.
He sighed.
"Nevertheless, Lady Fu." The tall general said, looking at the smaller lady before him. "Your intel means the puzzle is more complete than it was before, haha."
"These Stellaron Hunters are a captivating group-- such lengths to get the Xianzhou and the Express on the same track. Who would've believed it ?"
Fu Xuan was getting a little pissed though, this wasn't anything related to the current status quo.
"General, we must retain all urgency ! The Ambrosial Arbor--" "It's the Stellaron." The General cut her off with a frown on his lips.
"No need to search high and low-- the traitors have planted it in the Ambrosial Arbor's delve, thereby causing the tree to grow once again. The Disciples of Sanctus Medicus couldn't hold off any longer." Jing Yuan said, unfolding his arms.
"Every crisis has a turning point." Fu Xuan said softly. "A problem is easier to resolve when you know where it lies."
Jing Yuan then smirked at her words, putting his hand on his hip as he knowingly raised his eyebrows at her. Fu Xuan didn't get it for a moment, but when she did, she frowned with a small pout on her lips.
"Am I coming up with the plan again...?" She sighed, looking up at him.
"Of course," Jing Yuan said without shame nor hesitation. "I'm sure you have a countermeasure at the ready, Master Diviner."
"From my perspective, convening the Cloud Knights is our immediate priority." Fu Xuan said after a while of thinking. "We must head into the roots of the Ambrosial Arbor, expel the Stellaron spirits, and prevent the Arbor's resurrection."
"I hope we need not ask the assistance of the Saltator Lunae...it would be...quite poor of us to make her use her powers after being in and out of consciousness repeatedly..." Fu Xuan said, looking down, deep in thought. "I propose that we request her help shall the need arises."
"Mhmm~" he hummed in satisfaction, nodding his head to the Master Diviner's thoughts towards resolving the matter. "As ever the Master Diviner's omniscia provides the fastest solution. However, sometimes speed is not everything."
"I have known the Stellaron's location for a while now, so why have I held back our forces ? Why did I let (Y/n) roam around even when I knew is her...unstable constitution ?" He asked, letting Fu Xuan think for a moment.
Fu Xuan thought for a moment, looking down before her eyes went back up to Jing Yuan.
"General..."
"You're a scoundrel."
Jing Yuan chuckled softly, shaking his head softly. Those words...were somewhere distant in his past, in his memory, through years of living.
He looked at the board of Starchess before him, smiling smugly as he looked at his opponent who sat across him. She frowned, her eyebrow twitching in displeasure and irritation.
"Jing Yuan, you scoundrel." She said with contempt.
"Haha~ you cant say that, (Y/n). It is unbecoming of the benevolent and highly-respected Saltator Lunae~" He said with a smirk on his lips, chuckling with pride and slyness.
"And you cannot use such underhanded tactics in trying to fool me." Dan Jia said, hands on her hips as her beautiful hair swayed in the wind.
"Who said I was fooling you, dear friend ?" He asked, reaching out a hand to sweep back her soft and silky strands of hair behind ear.
"I was just...suggesting you a move and you fell right into my trap."
"You're just too kind for your own good, Dan Jia." He said, putting his chin in the palm of his hand, a light blush on his cheeks as he retracted his hand from her.
"You should be careful. People might take your kindness for granted, or even take advantage of your naivety."
Dan Jia pouted, crossing over her arms over her chest with an embarrassed blush on her cheeks for being called naive and gullible.
"It would surely eat you up one day. So be careful..."
And it really was the reason for her downfall, being betrayed by her family. Her lover and her brother.

Special Chapter: Mother's day
A/n: this special chapter provides a bit of background info about Ayato and Y/n's childhood. It's kinda short.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Careful now, Ayato." I hear my mother says as I smack the wooden sword out of Y/n's hands without realizing I hit her hand near the bottom of the sword. It falls to the ground, letting out a quiet thud as Y/n stands there, holding her hand.
I rush over once I saw blood running down her arm, "I'm fine, just a scratch." I grab her hand, looking at the red bruising that was already beginning to form.
When I think of my mother, I remember the days where everything was peaceful and free, I had time to play and train with Y/n and Ayaka. Back then, the two of us didn't have to worry about marriage, duties as one of the tri-commissions and so much more.
Y/n had grown so much from then, she was fragile girl like a doll, she was someone who was too good for this world that made me want to protect her.
"I hurt you, I'm sorry." I apologize as I wipe the blood away before we went back to my mother who had already prepared a first aid kit for her.
I watch closely how my mother tended to the wound so I could learn to take of Y/n when she got hurt in the future, "your sword skills have gotten good." My mother comments, Y/n's face lights up at this.
"R-really? You think so?"
The girl says as my mother smiles at her, caressing her head, "yes, you're doing great sweetie."
I couldn't help but smile at this, as I had known that Y/n didn't exactly have loving parents, especially when her father remarried after the death of her mother years ago. My mother filled the roll of one ever she could come to visit or stay the nights at the estate.
They continued to talk to one another as I sat there, watch them talk away.
We always spare together even after the death of my parents, she continued to stay by my side, she was a person I could rely on.
In short she was my pillar.
She was always there to comfort me, telling me it was okay to cry at my mother's funeral as she held Ayaka in her arms but it wasn't until the safety of the estate when she held me in her arms, providing nothing but warm and comfort.
Holding a bouquet of flowers, I walk up to the to graves of my parents, setting down the flowers on my mother's.
"Hello mother, it's been a while. Unfortunately Y/n was unable to come with me, she hasn't been feeling well since she lost someone close to her recently." I say as I keep my head down. "But don't worry about us, I will be there for as she was with me in the past."
I look back to see Thoma standing a few distance but he didn't say anything before I noticed Y/n standing behind him.
Although she looked rather tired and so fragile as she looked at me, she held out her hand, signaling that she wanted to get closer.
I walk over, gently grabbed an hold of her as I lead to the graves, I smile at her before closing my eyes.
'I will be there for her in her hardships as she did with me.'

Once Again
(general) Lilia Vanrouge x Reader
part 3 part-2 part-1 part 4 part 5
gender neutral reader
1376 words
tag: @kimura-uzuri @anonima-2 @hat3yo0 (if you want to be tagged, you need only ask)
warning: I attempt comedy, shenanigans, I attempt to write flirting
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"...You know, I never got your name." the fae general starts. He's still perched up on your companion's shoulder, slightly bouncing up and down. You could almost laugh at the display.
"You didn't tell me your full name, Vanrouge." you retort "And I'm not giving you my name." you slightly roll your eyes and he lets out a small laugh.
"Did your research, didn't you?" strangely he seems satisfied with your answer. "I'll find out sooner or later anyway." he continues. "After all, I do need to know the name of the human how came up with the plan that led to my capture." eyes narrowed and pupils dilated; with his gaze trained on you like this, he gives of the feeling of a dangerous predator. And you don't doubt he could kill you and most of your comrades if it wasn't for his iron binds.
.....
Silence
Only footsteps could be heard, until-
"Do you think this is how princesses feel?" the question is met with more silence. A faint "what the hell?" could be heard in the distance, but it does nothing to deter the fae. "You know... like in the old tales, where they get kidnapped and have to be saved by a prince."
...this was out of the left field...
"...Did you hit your head too...?" the man carrying the general tentatively asks, he doesn't seem amused.
You, however, are desperately trying to bite back the smile forming on your lips and stifle the laugh in your throat. This is absolutely ridiculous. Is he trying to distract you or something?
"No? That's fine." Vanrouge sends you a knowing, yet mischievous glance before continuing: "I can think of another conversation topic."
"Please don't." a voice from the crowd says.
"But I haven't even begun telling you about the evil jar from th-"
"The What?!" a cacophony of voices ask; a few crashes are also heard. Everyone stops for a brief moment to glance at the general, who seems way too pleased with the response he received. You can see and hear him chuckling, before the gets a bit too violently shacked by the man carrying him, followed by another 'hey!'. Serves him right.
The evil jar, the frog council, the glass of bad upbringing; at this point you're certain his aim is to confuse and annoy everybody just as much as it is to entertain himself. Your companions are tired; groans can be heard at the start of the general's voice, and yet he does not stop.
"Will you stop if I tell you my name?" Vanrouge pauses for a second, appearing lost in thought before a grin starts to form on his lips. "Mind you, just my first name; you're not getting more than that." you continue, hopefully this will boost the other's morale.
"I never said I'll take your deal." he says and many sounds of disapproval can be heard. "It would be a shame to deprive you all of my magnificent tales!"
...so his plan is to drive everyone to insanity...
"Though, I would love for you to tell me your name." the general says before giving you the chance to speak again.
"You didn't take the deal. It would be a shame if you found out this early, don't you think?" you shoot the fae a mischievous glance.
"My, are you flirting with me?" is all he needs to say for you to almost trip, cheeks burning up in embarrassment. Damn it! Why did he have to be so... so hot irritating! you try your best to push the thoughts aside, but he continues:
"Keep it up and I'll take it as a challenge... and I don't plan on loosing." he winks and you're certain you would've chocked on your own spit if you didn't start coughing first. Is it midday already? Is that why it's so hot all of a sudden?
"Oh? Are you quite alright? You seem... a bit bothered, perhaps?" the general inquires, maybe a little to happily.
Great.
Now he's makin fun of you. The nerve of this bastard.
"Maybe I should've aimed for the other general..." you say a little to loud. Vanrouge's self-satisfied smirk falters for a moment.
"I don't think he would've been a good choice." he offers. "He's quite dry and boring, no good for conversation..." he draws, eyes momentarily closed "Not this kind of conversation, especially." he sends you yet another wink; and you wish the ground would just swallow you hole already. But you're not going to back down!
"And how do you know that?" you cross your arms in front of you "Did you try this kind of conversation with him too?" you let out a small chuckle at his indignant face. A small victory for you!
But it doesn't last long.
"Would you be jealous if I did?" he challenges, eyes shining and smile wide. The Seven really are punishing you, huh. "Not that you need to worry about that." another wink and your breath catches in your throat. "He's not my type." he finishes.
"...Do you really have to do all of this here?..." the man carrying the general says.
"Maybe he's your type, you seem to be as boring as he is." the fae retorts towards your companion, who slightly turns his head towards you before speaking:
"Are you sure we can't kill him?" he almost pleads. "It would be so much more relaxing without him."
"Hey! I'm too cute to die!" Vanrouge complains, but you ignore his argument nonetheless.
"At this point I'm not so sure." you shoot the fae another look and he pouts in return. For someone that could be killed at any moment he doesn't seem too bothered.
.......
....
Night is at last coming and you need to set camp. After the exhausting time spent trying to get as far away from the fae camp, you can finally take a break. Everyone is exhausted, so you quickly share the tasks like lighting a fire and cooking as well as setting up the tents and who is to keep watch between yourselves. And lucky you, it would seem you just got stuck watching over a certain fae general. Your comrades were quick in appointing you this very important role... none of them wanted to hear anymore of Vanrouge's rambles if they could help it.
So here you are staring at the fae while you wait for the food to be done.
"You know, I'm a pretty good cook myself." the general says, something in the depths of your soul, however, tells you not to trust his words. "How about a candlelight dinner if we survive the war?" he offers, scooting closer to you.
You're slightly taken aback by this. Is he trying make you let your guard down? Surprisingly enough, his eyes seem warmer; but you don't let that distract you... for very long. So keeping your eyes trained on him you respond:
"...maybe... Yeah, maybe." he seems satisfied with your answer.
You rest you head on the palm of your hand, you allow yourself to get lost in thought for a moment. "I'm y/n, by the way." you can see the general slightly jump at your words.
Oh, now you've got his full undivided attention. You could swear his ayes are sparkling like gemstones in the sun, a big smile dancing on his lips... you could get used to this...
"Khe heh heh, you've finally decided to tell me your name!" he seems delighted "It's nice to meet you, y/n."
"I guess it's nice to meet you too, Vanrou-"
"Lilia" he interrupts.
"Wha-"
"Just call me Lil-"
"WE'RE UNDER ATTACK!" comes the voice of your scout. And as you look to where the shouting comes from, you see them, not the fae. Not his time. You can't name their race, but you know it's not good.
"We need to GO!" Lilia, as you now know him as says; grabbing your arm in the process. "NOW!" he looks at you, eyes wide. You quickly grab your weapons and start running. Back into the forest. Back between the trees. Once again, just like in the beginning.
...it would seem you can't quite catch a break.
At least you're not alone this time.

this is actually a note of which addresses the reason why I haven't been writing for genshin a lot
okay first of all,, I've actually been losing interest in the game itself. there's sumeru of course and I've barely touched the region. the idea of exploring doesn't seem enticing to me anymore and the characters as well. but I'll still probably log in the moment kokomi banner drops and my interest temporary comes back LOL
second of all, the fandom here in tumblr. I dont wanna sound ungrateful or anything but I barely see anyone leaving a comment or an ask about my genshin works. overall it feels like I made a work; just got likes not a lot of reblogs as well it's a little disheartening. if you don't know why most writers in tumblr ask for reblogs it's because your reblog pops up on the feed of your followers + the fandom just seems cold idk?
there's still people that I know still enjoys my genshin works I hope, actually there was someone who kept supporting me when the topic of mother!reader came. I'll probably never forget em' @angel-of-requiem ily <33 & @kimura-uzuri who is one of my notable followers. this is a temporary goodbye to genshin 🥲 I will see you once I'm less stressed with school
funny thing is. I barely play twisted wonderland as well but I'm still going strong because of the nice little comments that are under the reblogs, or even asks because it feels nice to know that my works are being appreciated
the reason i kept going on genshin before was because I used to really loved the game, and when I posted my very first work on genshin it somehow blew up? a lot of people liked it a lot and I decided that I like people liking it. (if that made sense)
honestly getting into twst is one of the best decisions I've ever made cause I never would've met these amazing people and my beautiful mooties 😡 otherwise. the fandom is especially kind to me, I've actually received a few dms from people who went out their way to personally praise my work 😭💗 overall i feel really loved
so yeah! that's just for clarifications, I'll probably hold off writing for genshin in favor of twst just cause ^ but I guess I will wait for star rail? then try to write for that.
...... + maybe blue lock as well once the anime comes hahahahhahahahahahahahhaahahha

Hypothetically, if you were to write a second long-term comic set in the world / with the same characters as Tofauti Sawa, who would you have it focus on? (I realize you have probably 0 plans to actually do anything like this bc making comics is super taxxing I'm just curious which character/s you'd like to explore the most.)
I can't answer this because I have no plans to do a long term comic focusing on one character, even hypothetically. I want/plan to do some short comics focusing on various characters from the story's continuity like Mala, Jua, Uzuri, Mvua and Kivuli for example. But definitely not a long one. I am gonna move on from this comic eventually and focus on some other long term stories I want to do.

Welcome to my world. (Well, sort of...)
I am Uzuri and I am a woman of luxury.
I was serenaded during my shower just this morning by a budding piano prodigy.
As I leaned into the day's adventures, I was given the opportunity for sneak peeks into exclusive dramatic performances to be fully showcased later in the day.
I managed to catch a fleeting moment of several food critics sampling the latest harvests from our vast garden grounds.
One thing I know is abundance, and I am SWIMMING in it.
That serenade was actually our 3yo, Noony, who decided that he was going to be everywhere I was for the duration of the day, with his Fisher Price cat piano with brand new batteries in tow.
I was met with opposition by our 10yo, MoMo, who decided that it was virtually impossible for him to complete a 300 piece puzzle of the Xmen, and the relentless fervor of our 11yo, Doodah, to have spaghetti for breakfast.
And, Noony was eating tiny tomatoes that I picked specifically for tomato sauce for THE CHILDREN'S lunch, which, had I not stopped him, would have been bald-headed (AKA sauceless...dry...ashy...y'all get it. *eyeroll*), while Peanut (18) and Fluffy (15) made jokes about K-Pop memes or anime or something.
All this while my beautiful life partner and husband, B, lives like a real life superhero; navigating our progressing city as a Black man, actively interacting with and supporting the colorful passerbys of our area as standing "Ambassdor of Chill" for our fair city by day, and IndySoul entertainer/composer/BMF by night...and actually quite a few days, too.
I do my best to see the bliss that comes with the chaos in raising five babies, as a full time artist, WITH a full time artist. (To be clear, shit gets weird, and I will NOT be filtering myself, 'cuz I be cussin'. Govern yourself accordingly.) I absolutely love and am in love with my life and all of the things that it is, isn't, and will be. So many unbelievable moments of indescribable gratitude have been lived here. (Mama be ti'ed, too, Chile, because two things can be true at once. But, if you stick around here, y'all gon' get this honesty, hilarity, and experiences of all flavors.)
Essentially, welcome to my gratitude journal. Here there are no rules, and by that I mean I might only ever write over here, some days I may decide to drop just an audio, other days there may only be pictures. IDK. I'm letting this be super fluid because I've wanted to make it all serious and consistent and shit in the past, and I have to be honest with myself and say my life doesn't work like that. Hell, I'm an ARTIST, AKA flighty and weird and hyperfixed sometimes and did I mention I have five children and a whole bomb ass husband, because Sis be TI'ED, and sometimes all I'mma have is a run-on sentence. Real shit.
I think I'll moonwalk back a little bit and share some of the other stuff I've wanted to write about. I guess we'll see.

Hey where are you from?
I'm from Indonesian not really that good at english maybe a little?
My account is Kimura uzuri I got the idea of the name from kamukura izuru from danganronpa and I change it into Kimura uzuri
Sometimes I write [ hilise's fans 🌺] in the end of my comment
The reason is I just want to do it ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ
[Hilise's fans 🌺]
"Ah, are we getting to know each other by now? Very well, as i've mentioned I, myself specifically come from the void. Of course, the void is highly a confidential information, thus you won't receive much from it."
"And I believe with plenty kind of effort, you'll conquer the language of English. After all, everyone capable of learning despite the hardship they must go through."
"Let see, my name came from nothing but a mere coicidence, you could say. I was fooling around one day, before finding the name Iiratix during my moment of, erm, crackhead, certainly. On top of all, it's hardly not much of an effort to identify you. After all, you've a certain iconic way of leaving such impression."

"y/n... wake up, please..."
those words being repeated every once in awhile that it wouldve made the demon itself puke hearing those words one more time. Always that same sentence, and always the same reply, dead silence. its always dead silence that made him scared as if the god of death was holding your hand at the other end of the bed smiling evilly at him. he knows hes not human, but the clenching in his chest and the way his breath always hitch as tears prickle in his eyes everytime your condition dropped even if it was just a slight fall was always a feeling that he despises.
its been 2 months, your condition was stable yet never a slight news of you getting better. And in those three months, he cooks a simple meal and started to learn cooking only for it to be eaten alone or being thrown away. Hes a hardworker and has appreciated his discoveries as an alchemist, but right now he discovered something that he didnt know was this painful, the feeling of dissapointment when he cooks a meal for you just for his hardwork to be thrown away in the garbage, but it was more painful thinking you had gone through that feeling longer and many more times than him.
at this point, he just wants to hear your voice again. He dreams of you alot, but never did he hear your voice in any of those dreams, you were always crying on the floor with all of the food you made messily surrounding you, but your cries were never heard, it was always silence, and he was always there, hes always running fastly to you, but whenever he lays his hand on you, you always disappeared into thin air.
Were you always crying like that every day? were you always on the floor with tears pooling bellow you? did you even ate anything when he said to eat alone? and how important his research is really?
with many unanswered questions, he again, sleeps on the chair beside you, a night has passed again, and another nightmare is expected along with another day without your voice to bring light into his life.
"good night... please wake me up n the morning.... i want to hear your voice..."
_____________________________________________
"--bedo... albedo..." he opens his eyes, and he swore he just heard your voice. He raised his head and there you were, sitting up, looking at him, eyes opened. This was different from the other dreams, he finally sees you, oh how beautiful you are in his eyes, for him, your beauty was a trait that could compete with the goddess of beauty herself. He was happy, he felt a feeling of happiness in his chest after a long while, that was until a thought hits him.
Even if you were awake right now, isnt this just another dream, a dream where you were just gonna fade away? but this time he could hear your voice, is-is it okay if he enjoys this moment where your voice is actually heard by him?
he was deep in his thoughts, hes containing his urges to just jump on you and hug you. Another thing he missed, your hug. He was too afraid to hug you when you were unconcious, always believing he was too tainted to touch your pure skin.
The presence of your hand above his shoulder was something he was afraid of. He doesnt want to wake up from this dream!
He jumps out of his chair and stepped back. You were stunned. did you do something wrong? "al-"
"is-isnt this just a dream? its the same dream as usual, i see you infront of me, but whenever i touch you, you dissapear..."
You tried to call his name but got cut off again
"p-please, even if this is just a dream.... please let me hear more of your voice just for tonight. i dont want to wake up... i miss you! archons! i miss you so much" he was tearing up now. he brought his hand up to his face, trying the hardest to wipe his flowing tears.
"i miss you... its been two months... two months without your voice... two months youve been laying on the bed... please... please dont fade away..."
he was at the edge. he was gonna break in a few more moments. but this is the only time he could feel your living presence. He has to hold it, but he cant.
he went silent a few seconds and with a shaky voice drowned with anxiety, he says "please... dont leave... dont dissappear"
hes shaking infront of you. just like a lost puppy in the middle of a rain. He looks as if hes gonna break in a few moments. Seeing this, you decided.
"albedo_ come here~" your soft voice just like a spell luring him to get closer to you with his head still looking down.
"albedo~" he unconsciously lifts up his head, his eyes meeting yours. he was entranced by your beauty, the moon was outlining your sillhoutte from the back as if its agreeing to your magnificent beauty.
his entrancing moment was cut off with a warmth that was embracing him. You were hugging him.
It isnt a dream.
"its okay, your okay, i wont dissappear... i wont leave you. i love you. sorry i kept you waiting" you whispered in a warm tone that broke him
the reassurance of you not leaving him. the one thing that he needed.
a wave of relief washed over him, and now his facade is breaking. hes now crying in your arms. hugging you tight, still too afraid that youll fade away.
"im sorry! im so so sorry! im sorry for everything! im sorry for ignoring you, im sorry for discriminating all of your hardwork, im sorry that i didnt appreciate you, im sorry for thinking lightly about us, im sorry for being such a selfish being, im sorry for keeping you waiting alone, im sorry- im sorry- im sorry for everything... please-please forgive me_" he apologizes for everything that he has done until now. his voice becomes shaken every second.
following his cry, your tears also started do flow.
"Dont worry, i will never hate you, i will always be with you. I love you" you reassured him.
And for a few moments, you two just enjoyed each others embrace with a comforting silence.
_____________________________________________
"o-okay i should check your condition first... ill get my checklist" he says as he pull away from your embrace while you nod.
"a-and... are you hungry...?" he says as he stands up.
"in fact! yes! i! am! ah but i could wait if your gonna fetch something up outside-"
"n-no, i could cook it myself, and i already prepared some food" "you leaned how to cook?" you asked confusingly
"yes i did, i also took my time fixing my schedules for the future so i have time for you and dinner."
you were surprised, just what exactly happened in the supposedly 2 months you were unconscious?
"so, y/n, do you want to have dinner with me?"Albedo doesnt know why he was feeling nervous asking you this simple question, but as soon as his nervousness kicked in, a happy feeling spread through his body.
"Of Course! so is dinner ready?" you say with a sly smile
"hehe... yup! dinners ready!" he giggles and smile.
_____________________________________________And that is all for this fiction! dinners ready was very fun to write!

chapter 1: the setting. / coriolanus snow / nsfw
Tumblr media
Watching TBOSAS rekindled my love of this series and Tom Blyth makes young Snow sexy.
wc: 4,422
waring: smut, misogyny, dubcon, toxic relationships, snow is insane, not beta read
AO3 version here | Series Master
Tumblr media
“You’re to take Y/N to the gala and after that the two of you will begin a show of courting for the Capitol to watch.”
Coriolanus Snow found you to be a thorn in his side. An unknown variable. You were wellbred stock, perfect for carrying on a bloodline, but somehow you were as disgraced as those from the Districts. Even before the war had started and ended Coriolanus found you insufferable. Too aggressive, undisciplined, and unpredictable. He liked reading people, at this point he’d say he could read others better than they could read themselves. But you were a blank slate. Wellbred, well read, and well insufferable. The only reason he even pretended to care about you was who your mother was.
Dr. Volumnia Gaul was more of a creator than a mother. Mothers cared and nurtured their children with love and compassion, two emotions Gaul was incapable of. Funny considering she was once an obstetrician. It was there that she had been introduced to your father, another prominent Capitol resident, and had you. She liked you, surely, often willing to give you more grace than others for their mistakes, but love would be going too far. Perhaps her being your mother is why Coriolanus liked you even less, you had all of her traits he disliked the most.
The Snow family had always been led by men, a tradition passed down from father to son, an unbroken chain of masculine dominance. But the Gauls were different. They were led by women, strong, capable women who defied the traditional power dynamics. And you were no exception.
You were determined to prove yourself, to carve your own path, to become a leader just like your mother. You fought Coriolanus head-on, challenging his every suggestion, even when you knew your opposition was futile. You were a master of manipulation, using coercion, leadership, and cunning to bend others to your will. Even Coriolanus, the shrewd and calculating Snow, found himself falling prey to your machinations at times.
You had convinced two of the most desirable women in the Capitol, Persephone Price and Iphigenia Moss, that he was in love with them both. For a tense month and a half, they waged a bitter war for his affections, making his life a living hell right after he had returned from District 12. It was as if you simply enjoyed watching the chaos you created, relishing in the discomfort you inflicted upon him.
Coriolanus couldn't deny his grudging admiration for your skill. You were a force to be reckoned with, a whirlwind of ambition and cunning. You were a puzzle he couldn't quite solve, a challenge he couldn't quite overcome. And that unsettled him.
"Dr. Gaul," he began, his voice laced with scepticism, "I hardly think that I am the most suitable companion for your daughter, even if just for show.”
A sharp, echoing cackle escaped Volumnia's lips, sending a shiver down Coriolanus's spine.
"Oh, Coriolanus," she drawled, her voice dripping with sarcasm, "my dear star pupil, you underestimate your own abilities. You are the very person I need to keep that girl in line. Plus she makes you look like a more viable successor."
His jaw tensed.
“I hardly think that if you couldn’t control her I could.”
“Control is a fickle thing Mr. Snow,” Volumnia did not even turn to face him as she stared down into a microscope. She turned a dial to clarify the view before then adding liquid, some sort of acid from the smell, and stirring the plate with a glass rod before continuing.
"Y/N is merely playing at having control. She is an actor, a performer, and you, my dear Coriolanus, will be her stage."
“And what is my role in this performance?”
"You will be the charming escort, the perfect foil to her rebellious spirit," she explained. "Your ability to manage her shows that the Gaul name carries on in your relationship with her, breeding the best gamemaker there could ever be."
His fingers itched to throw the beaker of acid onto Gaul. The very thought of touching you made his skin crawl. He could still feel the lingering sensation of your skin against his, a clammy, unnatural warmth that sent shivers down his spine from the last time the two of you had touched even briefly. Truly his interactions with you had been limited before the 10th games, you were two years his junior, it was only after he came back from 12 that he had even spoken to you. Now you worked side by side with each other on the games under your mother, and his every interaction with you made him violent.
The idea of having you draped over his arm all night filled him with a sense of nausea. He could almost picture you under him, your body contorting in agony as you choked by his doing. He envisioned himself standing over one of the ridiculous chaises in your family estate, your father's extravagant purchase. He would slowly tighten his grip around your throat, watching as your eyes bulged in terror and your face contorted in pain.
The thought of your hands desperately clawing at his arms, your tears streaming down your face, sent a strange jolt of excitement through him.
He pictured himself using one of the delicate scarves you always wore to strangle you, the soft fabric contrasting with the harshness of your screams. He would watch as your eyes rolled back in your head, your life fading away with a final, gasping breath.
Hate was a strong word, but it was the only word that adequately described his feelings for you. A venomous mixture of loathing, fascination, and a twisted desire that he couldn't quite explain. Lucy Gray he had wanted to control, but you wanted to break.
“As you wish Dr. Gaul.”
_
When your mother had told you that you were to be escorted by Coriolanus to the gala and then “pretend” to court him, you were pissed. You saw through his carefully constructed façade of charm and sophistication, recognizing him for the manipulative user he truly was. In his eyes, people were nothing more than expendable pawns, their lives mere tokens in his ruthless game.
While you couldn't deny that you shared a similar disregard for human life, having been raised in an environment where expendability was a given, there was a fundamental difference between your perspectives. You saw value in keeping people alive, recognizing their potential as tools in your own elaborate schemes. Death was not an option for you; it was a blunt instrument, a crude solution to a complex problem. People were willing to go to the extremes for their loved ones, and extremes meant profit.
There was no choice to be had in the matter of being his date, mother dearest had given you a look that said all. If you dared to defy her wishes, she would unleash a torrent of consequences, transforming your life into a living hell until she deemed your lesson learned. While you possessed a certain degree of freedom, there were lines even you dared not cross, and this was one of them.
But Coriolanus made you feel things that you thought you were incapable of, a deep burning rage that whispered at the end of it all one of you would be consumed. You could almost envision the moment when your fury would reach its crescendo, when your teeth would sink into his flesh, consuming him in the flames of your intensity.
As if life couldn't be any more cruel to you, Coriolanus had insisted that you were costumed by his cousin Tigris. Now Tigris was agreeable company, a beacon of kindness and warmth, possessed an innate ability to perceive the good in others. While you found her naivety and idealism somewhat exasperating, you couldn't deny her inherent goodness and her remarkable skill as a seamstress.
Yet, the thought of enduring the tedious process of changing into multiple outfits, each designed to enhance Tigris's artistic vision, threatened to push you to the brink of insanity, a state your mother had succumbed to years ago. The prospect of reliving her descent into madness sent a chill down your spine.
Tigris's fingers trailed along the soft fabric of the gown, carefully adjusting its folds to accentuate the curves of your body. "You know, you've got a really nice figure," she remarked, her voice laced with admiration.
A wry smile tugged at the corners of your lips. "Why thank you, Tigris. If you asked your cousin, he'd tell you I had a body made for the Districts."
Tigris's brow furrowed in confusion. "What does that even mean?"
"Oh, it's just one of his many ways of insulting me," you explained with a shrug. "He's surprisingly bad at it, considering how much he tries."
As Tigris continued her work, meticulously crafting the gown to perfection, you found yourself enjoying her company more than you had anticipated. Her easygoing nature and engaging conversation provided a welcome distraction from the simmering tension that always seemed to accompany Coriolanus's presence.
For a fleeting moment, you allowed yourself to relax, to partially let down the guard you had carefully constructed over the years. You savoured the simple pleasure of Tigris's companionship, cherishing the rare moments of genuine connection in a world that often felt cold and impersonal. Even if it was inside the Snow family penthouse.
The black velvet gown hugged your curves like a second skin. Tigris' skilled hands moved with practised ease, adjusting the intricate details of the dress, ensuring that it would perfectly complement your form.
"I think I'll add a corset effect to this," Tigris mused. "Corio has some cufflinks that were his father’s that would go well with that."
"I am but your humble dress-up doll," you teased, playing along with her lighthearted banter.
Tigris's smile widened, her laughter echoing through the opulent dressing room. "Well then, I'll have to show off my best work for such a famous doll," she declared, her voice filled with playful affection.
The light hearted mood continued for some time, eventually a servant came in to offer you tea. That ended up being your only respite as Tigris then wanted you to try on more gowns for different events. Apparently you had sparked something in her to create various things.
Perched atop a pedestal, clad only in your underwear and an arm across your bare chest, conversation flowed with Tigris, her nimble fingers expertly hemming the length of a shimmering silver gown. Your topics ranged from the latest academy and university gossip to Ma Plinth's overprotective tendencies towards Coriolanus, eventually settling on your father's renowned interior design skills. His contributions to the Capitol's architectural landscape were a source of pride for both of you.
You two had been so lost in conversation you hadn’t heard Coriolanus enter the apartment and calling out for Tigris until he was in the doorframe of the dressing parlour.
“Tigris I need you to fix this stitch on my blazer, it came undone while I was walking over here- oh.”
A flicker of surprise crossed Coriolanus's face, momentarily disrupting his composed demeanour. He seemed momentarily taken aback by the sight of you.
Tigris quickly rose, her hands reaching to cover your exposed form, her cheeks flushed with embarrassment.
“Corio!” she stammered, “If you can just leave it on the chair I’ll get to it shortly.”
Coriolanus regained his composure. "No need to rush, Tigris," he spoke smoothly, his voice devoid of any hint of the turmoil that he felt "I just need this done by Tuesday."
He turned his attention to you, his gaze lingering for a moment longer than necessary. "I should hope that's not what you’re intending to wear to the gala, I think your mother would throw you in the arena herself.”
Without another word, he turned and exited the dressing room, leaving you and Tigris to exchange looks.
___
Coriolanus couldn't shake the image of your back from his mind. The smooth, flawless skin, untouched by blemish or imperfection, is a testament to the care your mother had taken in your upbringing and no doubt the many concoctions she made to keep you that way. The memory of your curves lingered in his thoughts.
He had always held the opinion that your body was more suited to the Districts, a form meant for bearing child after child to provide the Captiol with more luxury. But seeing you laid bare made him reconsider your appeal.
His usual taste in women ran towards the petite, almost painfully thin, figures that could afford to forgo nourishment for the sake of fashion. They were delicate creatures, easily controlled, incapable of challenging his authority. But there was something about you, something that stirred a different kind of desire within him.
Thoughts of you under him shifted, taking on a carnal nature. The dim light in the room seemed to flicker with the intensity of the images playing in Coriolanus's mind.
You under him, tears streaming down your face, but no longer was he choking you. You cried out in pleasure begging him to never stop. Your cheeks flushed, eyes glossy, mouth open as you gasped. Neck covered in hit bite marks and hickies that trailed down your chest, heaving with exertion. His hands on your waist, pulling you closer to him as he thrust again and again, your nails digging into his forearms drawing blood.
You cried so sweetly for him, came undone so well for him. That cunning mind of yours consumed by thoughts of him. He might never figure out how to predict your actions but he could figure out your needs, your desires, what makes you tick. Pull your tongue out between his fingers and spit in your mouth. To turn you on your front and hike your hips up against his own, hands pinned behind your back.
“Corio, what's wrong?”
Coriolanus's mind jolted back to the present, the vivid images from his fantasies dissolving like wisps of smoke. He blinked rapidly, adjusting to the dim light of the room once more. Your gentle voice, using his nickname, had pierced through the haze of his thoughts, pulling him back from the precipice of his desires.
"Nothing, I was considering something for the next games," he replied, his voice slightly strained. "I do apologise, Mr. Creed. Innovation is something that weighs on me heavily.”
Mr. Creed chuckled, bassy and thumping. “ No worries my boy, your date was keeping me ample company.”
He watched as the older man's gaze lingered on your figure, a predatory glint in his eyes as it bore into your chest for a second too long.
Disgust churned within him, a visceral reaction to the blatant display of lechery. Mr. Creed's age only served to amplify the repulsiveness of his behaviour, a man old enough to be your father, yet still driven by the primal urges of a rutting animal.
Coriolanus saw through the façade of civility, the veneer of sophistication that Mr. Creed carefully maintained. Behind the polished exterior lurked a man incapable of masking his basest desires, his eyes a window into a mind consumed by lust.
He drew you in closer, feeling the heat of your skin spread against the material of his suit.
“And what company she is.” he placed a kiss on your temple with a chuckle all whistle maintaining eye contact with Mr. Creed. A man's warning not to vye for what was his. “I often say she should host the games instead of designing them.”
“Oh hush! You couldn’t possibly manage without me.”
“Well I’d have your mother.”
You giggled at that, showing that you had one too many fruity cocktails infused with a laughing agent earlier in the night, the light catching in your eyes. He could tell you were loose, more pliable then he had ever seen you. Part of him wondered if it was just all part of the act to you, playing as well behaved for him.  The Capitol’s untouchable wild child made compliant in his arms.
Despite the lingering doubt, Coriolanus couldn't deny the allure of your presence. Your laughter, once a source of frustration, now held a captivating charm, and your relaxed attitude was a welcome change from your usual sharp wit and guarded demeanour.
“And with that Mr. Creed, I do think that Y/N and myself should go find Dr. Gaul.”
“Of course Mr. Snow, I look forward to your next presentation.’
Coriolanus pulled you away from the overly perfumed man and out of the garden where you had been. The president’s mansion always had half the party outside in the expansive greenery and the rest on the first floor of the building. He guided you out of the garden, the expansive greenery and lively chatter fading into a distant hum. He led you into a secluded sitting room, its dimly lit interior a stark contrast to the vibrant party outside.
Coriolanus was a man who prized possession, a collector of valuable objects and people alike. He had never been one to share, a feature made even worse after his time in District 12, and the sight of Mr. Creed eyeing his 'toy' had ignited a possessive fire within him.
You were his, he told himself, all the Capitol knew after the revelation of your made up love affair during the 15th games. But, you had made it abundantly clear that you were not his. The ownership did not extend into your life outside of performing in your role for the people of the Capitol and to appease your mother.
It was easy to keep the lines from being blurred normally but since that day in the dressing parlour something snapped within him.
Plopping down on the chaise you sighed heavily. “What crawled up your ass Corio?” To strung out every syllable of his nickname, teasing him.
A sharp exhale and her turned to face you. Watching you reapply your pristine red lipstick.
“Creed is nothing more than a pig, a bloated, self-serving creature who values nothing but his own wealth and power," he growled, his voice laced with venom.
You raised an eyebrow.
“Tell me something I don't know. One of their Avvoxes is like that because Festus saw his father with the girl, and his mother went bat shit.”
“How do you know this?”
You closed your compact with a snap and tucked it back into your clutch alongside your lipstick. "Festus told me," you confessed, a sly grin playing on your lips. "He squeals easily.”
He hummed in agreement.
“Tell me Snow, when did you start to care if some old pervert undressed me mentally.”
“Since your mother made the entire country think we’re in love.”
“But we aren't.”
“No we aren’t,” there was no love between you two “but that means you’re mine as far as he’s concerned. I don’t enjoy anyone coveting what's mine, even if this relationship is just for show.”
“Ah! Of course, there he is, the egotistical and controlling Coriolanus we all know. For a second I thought you might actually hold a shred of care for me.”
You leaned back in the chair, your dress slipping slightly down on your chest furthering the curve of your breast.
He had to admit to himself he was no more animal than Mr. Creed when the slightest slip made his thoughts race. His mind went back to his earlier thoughts now inspired by the room you were in. Bent over the chaise with your lipstick smeared, a litany of stains on his face and collar. He’d hike the skirt of your dress up and pull your top down, leaving your breasts free for him to grab at as he took you from behind, your underwear hanging off just an ankle. Festus or his father would walk in the scene and pale as Coriolanus displayed his ownership of you.
“Seriously Snow what’s wrong with you?” You’ve been distracted all night.” You shifted on the chair grabbing his arm and pulling him down to sit. “I won’t pretend to like you but you’re not yourself.”
His gaze flickered down to your chest before meeting your eyes.
Those eyes had always held the power to see through him, to strip away his carefully constructed exterior and expose the terrified child within, a child haunted by the horrors of the bombings. They roused something deep within him, something he couldn't quite comprehend. He was convinced it was hatred, an intense aversion to everything related to you. Yet, amidst the gaudy extravagance of this opulent sitting room, there was something more than hatred, a yearning, a need to possess you, not just in the pretence of a fabricated relationship, but for real.
“Nothing is wrong.”
"Bullshit," you retorted, your voice firm and unwavering. "You've been distant with me ever since that day in Tigris' dressing parlour. You refused to even acknowledge me the last time I saw you, couldn't even bring yourself to look at me."
He couldn't deny your accusation, for it was true. He had been avoiding you, intentionally keeping his distance, unable to face the tempest of emotions that your presence evoked within him.
"Have you considered that I find you repulsive and even looking at you gives me mental anguish?" he asked, his voice laced with sarcasm, a desperate attempt to deflect the attention away from his own turmoil.
"Okay, jackass," you sighed in exasperation. "I was actually trying to be nice to you here, even considering the possibility of being more amicable in the future, but clearly, that's an impossibility with you."
Standing up from your position, you straightened out your dress, your back turned to him. "I'm going to find my mother and then leave, and I don’t know how we will keep acting like we’re in love in public but we will." you declared, your voice seeming to echo in the room.
Before you could take a step away, Coriolanus' hand wrapped around your wrist. "You're hurting me," you exclaimed, struggling against his hold.
"What do you even want?" you demanded, spinning around to snatch his hand away, only to find yourself pulled down, landing directly into his lap.
You gasped in surprise, your body pressed against his, the warmth of his touch sending a jolt through your senses. His eyes, those storm-filled pools, were inches from yours, their intensity almost hypnotic. There was something swirling in them that you had never seen him express before.
“God seriously, what is wrong with you? I don’t know why my mother insists on it being you! You are the most insufferable man I have ever met. Constantly talking down to me and trying to make me feel lesser. You need to sort yourself out.”
Your voice raised, carrying into the hallway where he knew people were. He could hear their steps coming towards the door.
He watched you, his expression unreadable, his fingers still tracing patterns on your waist. It felt so breakable under his touch, like he could squeeze it ever so tightly and it would shatter. Maybe that was what was wrong with him, his image was that of strength and yet you were so fragile.
The reality was much harsher than that. He had never viewed you as a person before that day. You have been an obstacle or a pawn. Now he had to act as he loved you, craved you, desired you. Initially that was a hard ask, your very being was unpleasant to him, but since that day something had shifted in him. You were human now. And far too tempting.
The handle of the door began to turn. The narrative needed to be made, actions taken, you both were here for a purpose tonight.
His lips crashed into yours, more gnashing teeth than the delicate touch of a lover, a show of dominance and control. The frustration of this whole act and his loss of control bubbling to the surface and letting the anger out on you. You tried to pull away, speak to him maybe, but he pulled you back against him and with a hand on the side of your face pushed your jaw open letting him slip his tongue inside your mouth. It was wet and messy. His tongue running against the back of your top teeth before dancing with your own. The desire to consume you coming out on top.
“Oh my!”
He pulled away with a bite at your lip, hard enough to leave the both of you tasting blood.
A collection of Coriolanus' classmates from the Academy and a few notable members of high society, including both Festus and his father, stood at the now open french doors taking in the scene before them.
Y/N Gaul draped across Coriolanus Snow’s lap engaged in a hot and steamy makeout session. You intricate updo half udon by his actions, both your breathing labour, red lipstick smudged around both your mouths. You felt like a deer caught in the headlights. You hadn’t heard anyone coming to the room too distracted by Coriolanus’ odd behaviour which was now explained.
Coriolanus instantly snapped into character a charming smile spread across his face as he steadied a hand on your hip.
“My apologies I wasn’t aware anyone would be using this parlour tonight.” He spoke with a lighthearted chuckle. “Miss Gaul was just simply breathtaking this evening.”
Your name brought you back into the moment, the velvet of his voice soothing your panic. You moved to adjust his shirt and blazer back into place, an intimate gesture painting the two of you having a deeper relationship than people initially thought.
“Corio,” you chided gently “I told you that we needed to be careful.”
“You're right my dear. I was overconfident, assuming we had a moment to ourselves. I just can’t help myself when it comes to you.” He slipped the handkerchief out of his pocket and began cleaning up your ruined lipstick. “Please give us just a minute and we will clear the room for you.”
He finished cleaning you up and then stood, taking your hand in his. Some more apologies were given to the crowd as the two of you absconded away like teenage lovers that had just been caught. A trail of hushed whispers and lingering glances followed you out. You couldn’t catch everything but you heard one thing very clearly.
“Well there goes the gossip that they hate each other.”

"They're ready to head to the base terminals to start them up. Apparently all three of them shut down after conduction of foreseeing your current and past predicament." Fu Xuan said, looking at (Y/n) after she had returned from giving orders to her assistant.
(Y/n) lifted an eyebrow as if to say, 'is it my fault ? Damn, sorry', but Fu Xuan sighed and put a hand on the forearm of the taller lady next to her.
"No, it's not your fault. The symbols on the Matrix have been dimming for quite a while now, it was expected for it to not be able to recount such memories as distant the Era of Bloodshed." Fu Xuan said, shaking her head.
"Then, if so, would it be able to relinquish Kafka's means ?" (Y/n) asked as she looked at the Master Diviner of the Luofu.
"To reread the recent past written by a mortal to another, is hardly much of a chore." Fu Xuan said with a proud huff, her cute cheeks blushing red with happiness.
"I suppose a lady as capable as yourself shouldn't have any problem in pulling through crises." (Y/n) said with a small smirk.
Fu Xuan flushed and she almost beams at the words of the former High Elder of the Vidyadhara. Then she turns away, trying to keep the ghost of a smile hidden from her face.
"You and that sugar-tongued General...he has really been rubbing off on you, hasn't he ?"
(Y/n) chuckled, shaking her head slightly with dusted cheeks. "As it is, fate is inevitably cruel to those blessed with more time than others. It is only natural to adopt similar instances of speech."
"Ugh..." Qingque grumbled, looking down with tears in her eyes. "I worked so hard in getting transferred to the repository. It was the best place to slack off and be invisible..."
"Now, I actually have career prospects...this is terrible !" She sobbed softly. "If I screw up, they might fire me...but if I get it done right, they'll send me more work !"
But as (Y/n) approached, Welt coughed into his fist, stopping Qingque's rambles.
"Lady (Y/n), will you be joining us ?" Welt asked as the royal lady approached them, her hand fan elegantly resting in the palms of her left hand, the hilt firmly wrapped with her right.
"Yes. I am indebted to the Master Diviner, the General, and those who had expressed concern over my wellbeing." (Y/n) said with a nod. "I shall assist you with whatever power I possess."
"L-Lady (Y/n) herself is accompanying us ?" The librarian, whose name was Qingque, as she recalled, said, looking at the horned woman with admiration in her green eyes. She was just grumbling a moment ago how there was extra work but no extra rewards.
Maybe...
"Does that mean we'll get jobs done faster ?"
"Perhaps ?"
"Oh great ! Then, let's go ! I want to play-- i mean..."
The brunette coughed into her fist for a bit.
"I would like to complete the task provided by the Master Diviner as efficiently as possible. Then, spend my leisure time with some relaxing but mind boggling luck based games." Qingque said, trying to mask her want to get the job done and quickly slack off to go play some Celestial Jade.
(Y/n) chuckled a bit before parting ways with the librarian to meet up with Jing Yuan who was addressing the present events with Stelle and March.
"Fu Xuan's Matrix of Prescience was able to go one step further than Kafka. To maintain the upper hand, I had to keep it a surprise. I hope this hasn't made you doubt my sincerity ?" Jing Yuan said with a smile as he nodded at the approach of (Y/n), his smile turning warmer.
March did NOT look impressed. "Next time, ease off on the surprises ?"
"I promise to be more transparent next time. This time it was sealed tight, not even (Y/n) was aware of my moves."
Jing Yuan looked a little guilty, but not by much.
"At present, Kafka has no intention of speaking and the Stellaron Hunters' motives remain unknown. We must rely on the power of the Divination Commission to unearth the truth." The General said again.
"'Unearth the truth'..." Welt said before looking at Jing Yuan. "You mean, interrogate Kafka using the Matrix of Prescience ?"
"Precisely. The Matrix of Prescience is the Divination Commission's ultimate weapon. It was originally used to calculate navigation routes and predict future events..." Jing Yuan said with a slight nod of his head. "With, special exceptions of course."
"Special exceptions ?" March asked, looking quite invested in the functionality of such a master device.
"Yes. For instance interrogation. The secrets of the Stellaron Hunters' cannot remain hidden for any longer. I have no choice but to move beyond conventional protocol -- we must use divination to ascertain Kafka's intent."
"And for the second means, is to peer into the misty fog that prevents power and past knowledge that is needed to be applied in special circumstances and for health purposes." Jing Yuan said, looking at (Y/n). "Lady (Y/n)'s recurring memories were quite literally dragging her consciousness to the brink of insanity. And as you all know, she possesses timeless and indispensable knowledge."
"Everything hinges on restoring the Matrix of Prescience, which is why I would like you to help Diviner Fu complete the setup. I am eternally grateful for your assistance."
"And as such, I would like you all to look after this little princess for me. She wants to come along with you, and I hope you'll help me keep an eye on her." Jing Yuan said as he gestured to (Y/n) with a cheeky grin.
"Wh-what ?! How rude !"
After repairing the first screen, the group teleported to their first destination. The first of three terminals. The Temporal Terminal which correlates with essence of time. "Observes the potential of the temporal plane" as they say.
After arranging the Mutare Magnus of the Temporal Terminal, the group then moved towards the second gate, where there was a malfunctioning robot, sparking with electricity and buzzing circuits.
"What the heck is this ? It looks like a walking gate !" March said, looking at the automaton in slight fear and awe.
"An Aurumaton. A guard-like robot placed in strategic places. The Matrix is very crucial and information abundant, so it's a...protection measure to make sure only those allowed could activate the terminal." (Y/n) said, looking at the malfunctioning piece of metal suspiciously.
"I feel like it needs a sign saying 'mortals forbidden' or something..." March said, hiding behind (Y/n) while holding onto her arm. Then she looked at Qingque with worried eyes. "Are you sure it wont fly into a rage if we walk past it...?"
"We're here by the order of the master diviner to restart the Matrix of Prescience. We're friends -- not foes !" Qingque declared to the Aurumaton.
The malfunctioning Aurumaton stood up, voice crackling with a broken chip. taking a stance. March yelped and (Y/n) pushed March even more behind her, and standing in front of Stelle.
Qingque looked panicked as she looked at the rising Aurumaton. "Ah...! March, you should join the Divination Commission ! Quick, do something !"
"Get back !" (Y/n) exclaimed, pulling out her fan as she summoned, cloudhymn magic to conjure up surrounding water to slip into the broken cracks of the piece of machinery.
"Before me !" (Y/n) commanded, before stomping her foot onto the ground, leaving a crown of ice circling her foot. Then she swung her fan, using her ice powers to freeze the water that slipped into the Aurumaton, locking it in place.
(Y/n) panted as she set down her fan, the fear from the sudden attack taking her by surprise. Her cheeks were a little dusted even though it was an easy battle for her, but she had to admit.
She was scared for a moment there.
"Hurry. Before the ice melts, you have to either destroy it, or spend time looking for the control panel and cutting the wires." (Y/n) said and Stelle hurriedly rushed forward with March by her side.
"It should be on the back !" Qingque said, still cowering behind (Y/n) as she held the legend's arm.
Without thinking much, March found the control circuit and conjured up an ice knife to cut through the colorful wires.
Then, just as hoped, the Aurumaton fell to the ground, broken. It crackled with sparks, as it serving a warning like it would get up again. But knowing that the circuits were ripped apart, they were sure that it was no longer a need to be afraid...
Then the group entered the second terminal, the Spatial Terminal. It was designed to retrieve information based on space, as Qingque explained. This time, (Y/n) sat by the side as she watched the other girls line up the Mutare Magnus, finding it endearing how they bickered over what way they should put down the pins to achieve the required shape.
And as they walked into the third and final terminal, March looked around with hands on her hips.
"So...let me guess, time, space... I bet the next terminal is energy-related !" March said proudly with a bright smile one her lips.
"Darn..." Qingque groaned as she looked at March with a sorry smile. "The Karma Terminal. They say this terminal is designed to establish casual relationships."
"What ?!"
The three began to move around, arranging the Mutare Magnus, even (Y/n) decided to join in to help them after watching them reset the plane a couple of times.
As she hopped in to help move the pins, she was suddenly reminded of an old memory that flashed in her mind.
"Hey ! Not too far out !" The familiar beloved would call out, chuckling as he followed the tugging of the blanket in his hands. He held the edge of the blanket in his thin but crafty hands, calloused from the harsh work he endured day and night to produce legends.
"But I want the blanket to be straight and tense before setting it down, Yingxing !"
"I understand, but there is no need to pull it so hard, beloved." The older man said, shaking his head as he set down the blanket on the grassy plains beneath the tree.
Wind blew past his hair, causing it to fly all over the place. The white-haired man sighed as he pushed back his long tresses behind his ear. Then he looked at her with a kind and loving gaze, the light of the moon highlighting his features.
"Well ? What are you waiting for ? Come sit down with me, my moon dancer."
Then she saw herself sitting close to the older man, snuggling happily in his arms as the two of them laid under the blanket of stars. The sight of the man staring into her eyes with love as he leaned in to kiss her forehead.
"--dy (Y/n) ?" A voice called out.
"Lady (Y/n) !" A cheerful and bright voice called out, making (Y/n) snap out of her trance-like state. The dragon lady blinked a couple of times, taking in the difference of what seemed to be her memory and the reality in front of her.
All three of the girls were looking quite worried at (Y/n), as she had suddenly stopped after placing the pin in the board.
"Are you alright, Lady (Y/n) ?" March asked, looking quite concerned. "You suddenly spaced out all of a sudden ! We're done here now, and all the terminals have lit up, so let's go back and take a short rest." The pink haired girl advised.
(Y/n) didn't really seem to understand what had just happened, but she nodded and followed the group back to the core using the screens. Although she knew that there were alot of entities roaming around to cause havoc, she couldn't help but shake off the feeling as if there was someone watching her.
The red eyes that observed from afar turned around, once he had determined that his beloved was in safe hands.
"Well done, all of you. I can sense the Matrix of Prescience symbols re-illuminating." Fu Xuan said with a satisfactory smile. "Now, to interrogate Kafka."
The master diviner turned around to face the Matrix before shooting (Y/n) a glace. "Those of you in the core may feel a few...impacts."
March was about to question Stelle what Fu Xuan had said, but then there were two Cloud Knights escorting a young and beautiful woman with red wine hair tied in a messy ponytail and captivating eyes. She wasn't cuffed, yet made no attempt to flee, following the soldiers with a simple gloved hand on her hip.
"Is this really necessary ?" The woman named Kafka asked, her voice as alluring as her features. "I said I'd cooperate with you."
"I have no interest in the words of wanted criminals. Especially those skilled in the art of manipulation." Fu Xuan briskly answered, gaze averted with a frown on her face. Then with a breath, she turned back to face the detained criminal.
"So, say what you will. I'm here to witness the divination of the Matrix of Prescience." Fu Xuan said strongly. "The Divination Commission has ways of extracting the truth, and they're far more effective than a conversation."
The woman with wine red hair chuckled softly, turning to enter the core. That was, before she shot (Y/n) a brief glance with a smirk playing at her lips.
"Then please, Master Diviner."
"Witness my destiny."
With Kafka standing in the middle, hands bound by imaginary power, Fu Xuan stood by the edge, watching her before taking out the power of the matrix. With precise hand gestures and polished expertise, Fu Xuan closed her eyes before she began to extract and activate the power of the three terminals activated by (Y/n) and the group earlier.
The tiles correspondent to their reason and trait glowed, before forming a connection that linked the plates to the Master Diviner. With using the three terminals and herself, a large binding hexagram formed in the air, rotating and calculating the past, present and future.
Kafka levitated in the air, letting her form be suspended and closer to the Matrix' core without a struggle. Symbols and constellations surrounded her as the Master Diviner began to collect data by reading the lines and the meaning of her stars, yet she smiled. Her eyes began to glow a light blue from the power surging through and out of her body, letting it see through her memories and seek out the answers they chased after.
Fu Xuan's own eyes began to glow blue, as she resonated her consciousness with Kafka's and the Matrix itself, focusing and getting a good reading of her own divination.
That was before she saw what she sought after.
Fu Xuan gasped and immediately re-casted the spell, making the Matrix stop its function without the user and Kafka slowly descended to the ground.
"That's...why you're here...?" Fu Xuan asked, full of disbelief as she looked at Kafka.
Kafka smiled slyly and knowingly in return, enjoying the look of betrayal and disbelief painted so evidently on Fu Xuan's face.
"All for that ?!"
Kafka looked down, an unreadable expression in her magenta eyes. "Well ? Not what what you were expecting ?" Kafka asked, tilting her head a little although she had totally expected the reaction.
"I cant believe it..." Fu Xuan said, looking at Kafka in horror, as if the woman before her had told her the most atrocious lie ever known to mankind.
"But the Matrix of Prescience cannot be wrong..."
"What did you see ?" Stelle asked, looking at the Master Diviner worriedly.
"Kafka has nothing to do with the Stellaron." Fu Xuan said before landing her eyes on Stelle. "But you...it's you..."
Stelle looked so confused to what Fu Xuan was talking about, for it wasn't her that had seen the same visions as Fu Xuan did.
"Ha ! Absurd ! I'd never have thought it..."
Then her golden eyes landed on (Y/n), gaze slightly scrutinizing.
"And you...I'd never considered the relation..."
"Talking like this isn't solving anything, Master Diviner..." (Y/n) said, hands crossed over her chest. The other members of the Nameless, and the Amicassador of Sky-Faring Commission looked all confused the same.
Fu Xuan shook her head before nodding in Kafka's direction.
"Ask her yourself. Take as long as you wish."
Fu Xuan left in a hurry after that, saying something about needing to see the General as soon as possible. The remaining party remained unsure of how to proceed. And since it was both (Y/n) and Stelle that were directly regarded by Fu Xuan, it was now known that Kafka knows something about them.
Stelle looked unsure of how to approach the situation, but Welt nodded at her encouragingly. "It's fine...you go ask her. I know you have many questions for Kafka yourself."
Though Stelle looked determined, she was quite unready. "Mr. Yang..." she started. "I think I still need more time to figure out what I want to ask."
"Don't worry." (Y/n) said, putting a tender hand on Stelle's shoulder.
"I'll go first."
"Well...I have heard of you, former Lady High Elder." Kafka said with a little awe in her eyes. "But to see you up-close and personal isn't really the same feeling as he had implied it to be."
"Which do you prefer, Lady High Elder ? Or the Saltator Lunae ? Or even the name you go by with now ?"
"(Y/n) is fine." (Y/n) said, raising up a hand to stop Kafka.
"I had only just woken up from a slumber. So I do not know of your misdeeds to have you scoured by the cosmos itself. But what I do know of is Blade's affiliation with the Stellaron Hunters faction." (Y/n) said with a shake of her head, (h/c) locks swaying elegantly as she did so.
"To know that is more than enough. The Master Diviner wasn't aware of Bladie's intentions of meeting you here. But to see through me consciousness and be aware of it must've been a little surprising to her." Kafka answered simply and honestly, looking straight into (Y/n)'s eyes.
She couldn't be lying. Not that she needed to anyway.
"How was he aware that I was awake in the first place ? Not even the General anticipated my awakening." (Y/n) said with a curious tilt of her head.
"Well...that's because the Destiny's Slave had said so before." Kafka said with a small chuckle, remembering something quite amusing to her.
"You should've seen the look on Bladie's face when he was announced that he stood a chance to meet an intergalactical treasure that had laid dormant for centuries..." Kafka said tenderly.
"It was such...an odd encounter...with emotions so strong. I wonder if I'll ever experience something as intense." The cuffed woman said with a light chuckle.
"For the first time since I met him...he looked alive."
"For the stars had turned against us while we adhered to the laws...perhaps the tide of fate pities us for leading such miserable paths of fate to let us reunite in unfortune events..." Blade said to himself, red eyes clouded with memories, heart beating again with reason.
Unknowing that there was a certain concerned young woman eavesdropping in case his Mara had reacted in him. But oddly, there was no reaction even though Blade was reminiscing about his past.
"Dancer of the moon...shall time and fate allow us..." she heard him gasp softly through a rare soft but broken voice.
For the first time since Kafka had met him, she heard him weep.
'How envious...' Kafka thought to herself.
"With my immortal and life-infested shell, I'd never let you stray away again..."
"My beloved home of stars...(Y/n)..."

We Meet Again and Again [Time and Time Again Part 2]
Summary: The pink-striped-haired bas-no, Lilia, brought you to the castle, where you meet some...surprising people and in time; you might even start calling it your home.
Time and Time Again Series: Part 1, Part 2 (this one), Part 3
Pairing: Lilia Vanrouge X Reader (Gender Neutral)
Notes: I loved writing this part. Every time I sat down to write, more and more ideas came to me, and the story kept getting longer and longer. that being said....there’s going to be a part 3. 😂😂😂 I still haven’t written the scene I wanted to write in part 1, which I still want to do. On the bright side, the next part is about 1/4? of the way through ☺️☺️👏👏  And yes, I have started writing the scenes I wanted to put in 🌸🌸🌸💕💕 Thank you for enjoying Part 1 so much! I never thought this idea that I talked with @coraldelusiondaze would develop and expand so much. It makes me so happy to see so many enjoy it. 💞💞💞💞💞💞🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

·      Ryu had turned out to be a fae prince.
·      And with your help, you had been welcomed into the castle with open arms.
·      Well, as open arms as you could get when the fae and humans were at war.
·      At least, you weren’t killed?
·      At least, not yet.
·      Yeah, you were honestly getting tired of the whole dying constantly part.
·      You and Ryu were following Lilia somewhere…
·      Yeah, you should probably ask where.
·      “Lilia, where are we going?”
·      “We are going to meet the queen.”
·      We are WHAT?!
·      “Yeah, nope.”
·      You turned and started walking back from where you came.
·       “Now, now, little one. Where are you going?”
·      Lilia had, of course, appeared in front of you.
·      “First of all, stop calling me that. You sound like a grandpa. Second, the queen?”
·      “Yes. Unless you want to go back out there? Out in the terrain you have no idea of? Who knows who or what can get you?”
·      Lilia’s smirk was infuriating.
·      “Argh, I hate you.”
Tumblr media
·      Now, you are currently trembling before the Queen of the Valley of Thorns.
·      You couldn’t face her.
·      Couldn’t look into her eyes.
·      You just couldn’t.
·      Lilia had shown you how to properly greet the queen.
·      After you had been led into the room, you were surprised to see the queen.
·      Before hastily greeting her as Lilia had taught you.
·      You could hear Lilia chuckle quietly beside you.
·      This freaking fae.
·      So while Ryu and Lilia talked to the queen.
·      You tried to calm you’re trembling.
·      Why were you trembling?
·      Because you were scared?
·      Hell no, it was because Maleficent was in front of you.
·      That Freaking Maleficent was in front of you.
·      And it took everything in you not to laugh.
·      You doubt you would have kept your head if you did laugh...
·      …which brought your thoughts to another queen who loved to take heads off…
·      Shut up! Shut up! You’re trying not to get killed here.
·      But seriously, I’m in basically a world based on Disney characters…
·      …shit. Why didn’t I pay more attention to the movies and characters?
·      “So, this human was the one who helped my son?”
·      Okay, deep breaths. Let’s get this over with.
·      You looked up.
Tumblr media
·      You flopped down on the soft bed in front of you.
·      After the meeting with the queen, you were shown a room to relax.
·      And finally, you could breathe again.
·      “Tough time dearie?”
·      Your room so happened to be next to one Lilia Vanrouge.
·      Honestly? At this point, you were not surprised.
·      Life just seemed to put you together, whether you asked for it or not.
·      “Why are you in my room General Vanrouge?”
·      “Fufufu~ Caught it did you?”
·      “Of course, I did. It’s kind of hard not to when everyone kept calling you by it.”
·      The Queen had referred to him as ‘General Vanrouge’ when she had asked about what had happened in the forest.
·      “Besides, I don’t believe that’s your full name. Even if it was, I doubt knowing it will give me any advantage.”
·      At this, you had looked up to see where Lilia was, only for him to be floating on top of you.
·      “Wah!”
·      In your surprise, you had scooted off the bed and fallen to the ground.
·      Lilia’s laughter resounds in the room.
Tumblr media
·      Time passes.
·      You come to stay in the castle.
·      Much to the dismay of many of the fae.
·      Ryu, despite their protests, had taken a liking to you.
·      So, you had ended up staying and accompanying Ryu when he was not studying to be the future king.
·      With your stay, the talk of the war ending started taking rooted
·      Will some fae approving it and others disagreeing.
·      Which, of course, reflected in the way you were treated.
·      Especially by one, green-haired retainer.
·      “Human.”
·      Speak of the fae. I’m surprised he’s not yelling this time.
·      You turned around.
·      Retainer Zigvolt was behind you.
·      He would be very handsome if it wasn’t for the permanent scowl on his face.
·      “I see you’re still not using my name Retainer Zigvolt.”
·      “You are not worthy of being near the Young Lord.”
·      Straight to the point as always.
·      “Well, too bad. Ryu likes me and you have no say.”
·      You smirked, as you saw Zigvolt puff up. You knew using Ryu’s name without a title would irk him.
·      “Now, if you’ll excuse me. I’m going to go play with Ryu and you’re not invited.”
Tumblr media
·      “Did you have to say that to him? He’s going to be unreasonably loud in the next meeting.”
·      “Good. That’s what you get for not helping.”
Tumblr media
·      As the years go on, you started getting comfortable in this life.
·      That was until the castle got invaded.
·      You don’t know the specifics, and you didn’t care.
·      Your focus was on Ryu.
·       Some, asshole, was holding both him and the queen at a sword’s point.
·      Wanting the queen to see Ryu’s death.
·      They were going to hurt your little brother.
·      Those bastards.
·      You had made up your mind.
·      You were going to get in between Ryu and that sword.
·      Which would cost you, your life.
·      It’s not like I haven’t been there and done that anyways.
·      You could see Lilia eyeing you.
·      He knew you were going to do something stupid.
·      He slightly shook his head.
·      You glared back.
·      The determined look in your eyes had him clenching his fist.
·      No one seemed to notice the plan between you two.
·      Good.
·      No one needed to pay attention to the human.
·      You took a deep breath.
·      You eyed Lilia one more time, taking him in.
·      Just in case.
·      You let out your breath.
·      Okay. Now!
·      You ran.
Tumblr media
·      The next thing you know, the ceiling of a room is staring up at you.
·      You can feel a bed underneath you.
·      You slowly gather your bearings.
·      Getting up and sitting at the edge of the bed, you scan your surroundings.
·      It looked like any other room in the castle you had started to call home.
·      Now, whose room were you in?
·      How long had it been?
·      These thoughts kept plaguing your thoughts
·      You hoped and prayed that those you called family was okay.
·      Please don’t let it be Zigvolt’s room. I will literally never hear the end of it.
·      *Click*
·      I guess I’ll find out now. Please, let it be someone reasonable.
·      You tensed.
·      Watching as the door opened.
·      Right in front of you…
·      …was a Lilia Vanrouge
·      He was surprised to see you too.
·      You felt your breath catch in your throat.
·      He was okay.
·      Relief hit you, making you relax slightly.
·      But what of the others?
·      Lilia was still at the doorway.
·      He was still as a statue.
·      You felt your hands tremble.
·      “Lilia-mmph!”
·      The last thing you heard before your mind became hazy was the sound of the door locking.
Tumblr media
·      The next day, or what you assumed was the next day, because who knows how long that crazy fae kept you trapped in his room.
·      You had reunited with everyone.
·      You barely paid attention as you ran towards Ryu and hugged him.
·      You hugged him with all your strength.
·      He returned it just as strongly.
·      When you had taken a step back, you noticed the changes.
·      How many years have passed?
·      Ryu had gotten older now.
·      From the crown on his head, you could tell he had taken place as the King of the Valley of Thorns.
·      The one next to him must have been his queen.
·      Later, you learned her name was Nissa.
·      The previous queen, Maleficent, was also in top health from what you could tell.
·      Retainer Zigvolt, to your surprise, didn’t reprimand you and simply nodded his head.
·      Ryu placed a hand on top of your head, “Welcome home.”
·      “I’m home.”
Tumblr media
I enjoyed the flow of the story when I was writing it. I hope you all enjoyed this second part as well. ☺️☺️☺️💕💕💕🌸🌸
The second to last scene had to be my favorite to write in this part. The feels just had my heart aching. 🥺🥺💚💚💚
How did everyone like the surprise guests?? Retainer Zigvolt came in like a wrecking ball, wanting to be written and who am I to deny him? 😈😈😈😈
See you all in part 3 ☺️👏💚

Last Line Meme
@penthesilea1623 tagged me to share the last line I’ve written. I’ve been working on my qualifying exams for the past month, and most of my creative writing has been going into making far too many D&D characters than can strictly be considered healthy...
BUT. I have been working on a few Overwatch pieces recently, so here is my most recent line from what I have affectionately titled “The Devil Went Down to New Mexico” - with a few lines added for context.
OH ALSO I tag @godihatethisfreakingcat and @widowmaqer and uhhhh @vaderslocker I GUESS. EVERYONE ELSE HAS LEFT THIS SITE
“What do teenagers like?” Olejnik pressed. “You are young. Impart wisdom.” The older man gestured impatiently.
McCree rubbed at his eye again, and set the tablet down. “Do I look like an expert on teenage girls? Only one I know is Amari’s kid. All that little gremlin wants is a rocket launcher.”
Olejnik’s expression lit up. “Rocket launcher! Thank you, McCree, much better. This is very helpful.”
Uzuri dropped her face into her hands.

#AmDrawing #Anime It's been a bit, I know, but here's my next Fairy Tale Retelling Princess character, Lady Uzuri Afolayan, my Beauty and the Beast character. Uh oh, does she have a secret she is unaware of? 😏 The answer is yes, yes she does lol. Oh man, this took a bit for me to decide what to do. I definitely didn't want to be like the Disney version and I wanted to do something different with the Beauty design. Until one day I was scouring through Pinterest looking for white hair reference to use and came upon a model. I stared at her picture for a good solid minute and decided that she will be my Beauty reference, and I very much enjoyed that decision. That being said, I wanted to at least add some references to the Disney version, hence the yellow dress, but because it's at night and there's a fire in front of her, I don't know how well you can see that lol. Anyway, I hope you like my take on the Beauty character, and when I finally write her story, I hope you like her then too. Petticoat of Arms Chapter 1
New fic WAAAAT
I hadn’t planned on posting this until I’d finished Uzuri Na Mnyama but I couldn’t wait anymore. I’ve been having the most ridiculous amount of fun writing this, you don’t even know. I don’t know what kind of schedule I’ll be posting on, but as with any fic I post, it’s almost entirely written, just needs editing. So you needn’t fear dropped fics!!!
So without further ado, I present to you my favorite trope of all: WOMAN MUST PRETEND TO BE A MAN!!! With Special Guest Tropes: Awkward Bed Sharing! Walking in on the Other Naked! And more!!!!
Title: Petticoat of Arms Rating: T (Rating will likely go up) Summary:  Gold is dreading returning to Avonlea and the intrigues of court to attend his cousin's wedding, but when he and his son help a young man and his sister, they end up traveling together. Everything is fine...until Gold realizes he's developing confusing feelings for young Beaux.
Belle and her sister, Mary Margaret are trying to escape their abusive uncle, and reunite Mary Margaret with her sweetheart. But the safest way they can think to do it is for Belle to pose as a man, to be able to give Mary Margaret's hand away. They meet a kind father and son on the road, and reluctantly accept help from them. Everything is fine...until Belle starts developing feelings for the father.
