Boy oh boy did I enjoy that *pauses to check the time* 13 minute livestream, yes siree 😌 2 minutes of that was replaying the first anniversary animated short—

Basically, TWST EN is getting the Guest Room on Jan 23rd 🤔 which… is an interesting decision, seeing as JP didn’t initially get the Guest Room until after episode 6 was concluded. (This is because Guest Room is a feature that tied in with a major story beat in which Ramshackle is actually renovated at the end of 6.) I guess EN just wanted to get a head start…? They’re releasing part 1 of episode 6 soon in English anyway.

In hindsight, the early Guest Room sort of makes sense since EN is also planning on starting to release Clubwear cards (like Lilia’s). For those who don’t know, Clubwear cards don’t have additional stories (vignettes). Instead, you get club-related furniture items to place in the Guest Room when you level up a Clubwear card’s vignette level.

This masquerade event has definitely blown away my expectations thus far like,I want more darker toned events or more scenarios that just pull a twist (ahah) on you

!!! Same same!

Glorious Masquerade is everything I wanted in an event. I love TWST's events in general. They're fun and lighthearted, and they have a touch of that Disney magic that you don't get to feel in many of their works anymore. But this event actually presents us danger. And it's threatening and it makes your heart pump and puts you on the edge of your seat as you learn more about the characters and hope to God that they succeed.

I wanted this for Endless Halloween. It presented us with a real danger, where the people you know and care for suddenly disappear in one night for mysterious reasons. I even had theories that maybe a TWST Chernabog would actually appear.

And yet it ended with a "surprise it was actually a prank". My disappointment was absolutely immeasurable. In hindsight, the music was a big big foreshadow to the prank due to its playful nature, but still, I wanted something thrilling. I wanted to see everyone sigh in relief as they defeated the big baddie, bring their friends home, and be greeted to a sunrise as they are thankful that everyone's alive and safe The only reason why I'm not going insane about it is because we got one mob talking about Azul stepping on people, which is very hot and sexy of him.

It didn't help that that ending presented Malleus in his omnipotence, so much so that he was the one in the "right" for pulling off such a prank (along with Lilia and the ghosts), and the boys were "wrong" for fighting the ghosts. Like 😭 I don't mind the prank itself, but I do mind the way that they presented Malleus and Lilia as innocent.

I think that's one of the main things I really like about Glorious Masquerade: that it presents Malleus as more than just an omnipotent figure who has everything under his control. It presents Malleus as someone more "human". He doesn't brag about his power. No, he is aware of it, he knows that it is a gift. And he even says it—that it's a gift that he chooses to share with the people he cares about. That has to be one of the kindest things anyone can say.

And there is that expectation to do a lot since he is powerful. But we see him needing help from Sebek and Silver when he was entangled in the flowers. He's told to conserve his power by Azul and Idia. And from that, we get to see Malleus being kind to his guards (him telling them that he trusts that he has good guards when they had to leave Sebek and Silver behind). We get to see Malleus giving praise where it is due (him praising Azul for getting rid of the flowers). And there are so many more moments that show Malleus as more than his omnipotence and power. We learn about Silver proudly presenting the magic handkerchief to Malleus. We see him being upset about receiving a false invitation when he had been excited about it. I've gotten to enjoy a lot of Malleus moments this event, but most importantly how he's become a bit more relatable.

I think I gone off topic from the ask completely HWAHAHHA but yeah, great event, everything is awesome. I am so happy.

Random observation: I love how much Kaname (Jamil's voice actor) obviously cares about Jamil even on a personal level. It could be because TWST is the only voice acting project he's done to date, but it's so cute to me how he fanboys about Jamil (and Scarabia in general lol). Obviously it's not uncommon for voice actors to actually care about the characters they're portraying, but this one does feel special. Or maybe im just biased idk-

To give a rough translation of his tweet: Kaname says that, through having been able to meet and face Jamil, he feels that he was able to grow alongside him.

We are starting very rough already today. I know I’ll be able to recover but also oh my god. I want to sleep so bad. Some things happened at my day job, and now I’m here all night but I picked up a shift for my 3rd tonight instead of picking sleep. Why? Because I feel like money is more important than my overall well-being. And I hate it here. Because I secretly don’t want to work my picked up shift but I love money. I want to go home and play on my PC and get more sleep. I haven’t slept enough to even function at my day job.

Ah… Save me…

Just kidding. I chose to do these things so I have no right to complain and bitch. If I was so exhausted and upset, then I wouldn’t have decided to get two jobs. I’ll feel better after I sit and isolate for a few minutes. I’m just not fully awake yet.

SIT DOWN, Y'ALL IT'S A DOOZY AND YOU'LL NEED IT

First main topic of discussion is the Disney100 Campaign and a reminder about the SSR Platinum Jacket Grim banner. There is also a limited design parka giveaway in JP.

The new characters are Ferro Honest and Gideru/Gidel/Gidell, the latter of which is not voiced. However, Ferro Honest will be voiced by Tomokazu Sugita!!

Some new event images!! The new event is called "Stage in Playful Land ~Dancing Puppets and the Fantastical Theme Park~"! The boys will be headed to "Playful Land", an amusement park of illusions. They've been specially invited by the two new characters. You get to forget all your worries and have fun all day, no need to pay! Maybe you'll even become a star... Hey, why not just skip school and stay here forever? How shady! There has to be a catch to it...

NEW CARDS TIME!!!!!

First up, the Rs (Trey, Jack, Jade, Lilia)! You can automatically see that the poses are very dynamic and incorporate ribbons. They look like they're being puppeteered on strings!! You'll also notice that they still have the eye masks, just with a different overall outfit theme than in Glorious Masquerade.

Next, the SRs (Cater, Leona, Floyd, Vil)! asdihlbaoyfeqfba They all look like they're having so much fun moving around their limbs and posing~

Last, but not least, the SSRs (Ace, Kalim, Ortho)! THEY'RE ALL SO DRAMATIC (especially Ace, look at him hamming it up)... It's really rare to see this kind of an expression on Kalim too, so it's a treat! Ortho was practically a given because of the Pinocchio inspiration of this event, but it's still so great to see the confirmation.

Yana-sensei was inspired by marionettes while designing this line of cards! She paid special attention to the patchwork in the clothes (there are even some easter eggs in there, particularly on the SSR trio). THE NEW HALLOWEEN EVENT STARTS ON THE 20TH 🤡THAT'S THE END OF THIS WEEK.... . . .. ............ . . .. . . .... . . .. . . . .

Ooh, new event merch! Keychains and scarves, plus a large holographic acrylic block with the Platinum Jacket Grim initial art.

Did Umehara say who he originally tried out for? Or just that he tried out for someone else?

Hello hello! Thank you for this question!

I have not been able to find an interview where he says who he originally tried out for yet!

It is not uncommon for the seiyuu to mention that they actually tried out for other characters, but whenever the topic comes up they usually temper the question with, "You don't have to say who you auditioned for if you'd rather not," so I think it can be something of a delicate topic in the industry for seiyuu to discuss who they lost roles to.

Epel's VA Tsuchiya also says that he did not audition for Epel!

In the following video he explains that he auditioned for many characters but he'd actually wanted to voice a character in Savanaclaw, because he was named after Simba from The Lion King.

At Anime Japan 2019's Twisted Wonderland stage, we learned that:

・Ace's Yamashita auditioned for both Deuce and Ace

・Deuce's Kobayashi auditioned for both Deuce and Ace

・Trey's Suzuki auditioned for both Trey and Deuce

・Cater's Kobayashi auditioned both for Cater and for another character but he does not specify who, as the game had yet to be released and only the members of Heartslabyul and Malleus had been revealed.

While the video cannot be shared because of ABEMA restrictions, during Twst Channel's first Halloween livestream we learned that Crewel's Ito also auditioned for someone else, and was later offered Crewel, instead!

While I have not yet been able to find Leona's Umehara confirming what character he did audition for I personally suspected it might have been Malleus, but in a special appearance of Malleus' VA Kato on Lilia's Midorikawa's monthly livestream he said that not only did he not audition for Malleus, but Malleus wasn't even an option amongst the characters that were available!

Malleus' Kato also does not share what character(s) he originally auditioned for.

It is interesting that Malleus, Leona, Epel and Crewel were all offered directly to VAs that did not audition for them.

Bonus:

During the first Halloween edition of Twst Channel the seiyuu were asked who, if anyone, was their oshi character outside of the character they themselves voice. Here are the results!

・Jack's VA -> Epel oshi ・Ruggie's VA -> Idia and Sebek oshi ・Sebek's VA -> Malleus oshi ・Silver's VA -> Idia oshi (It is well known that Silver's VA Shimazaki adores Idia, to the point that Ruggie's VA apologizes to him for also having Idia as an oshi character)

SSR Design Ideas

・Lilia's VA: A pajama series and room designs in the character motifs ・Jack's VA: Different hairstyles. ・Vil's VA: Winter sports designs, like skiing and snowboarding ・Silver's VA: Different ages. Adult Lilia, past Lilia and Silver together, delinquent Deuce, and adult Idia ("I think he would be beautiful").

:D of course!!! I will happily share Cater thoughts.

✧ there's a yan fic idea I have for Cater that's told entirely in blog post format. Sort of like those smau fics, only instead of through texts/tweets you'd see something like,,,, the twst equivalent for tumblr or myspace and it's Cay-Cay's little private blog where he shares all of his innermost thoughts. The posts start innocent enough and then in classic yan fashion it derails terribly as Cater falls deeper into obsession with you.

✧ I like to think that when Cater's really stressed or self-loathing he just,,, uses Split Card to kill off his clones in whatever way matches the emotion(s) he's feeling in that moment. But then he probably also isolates himself when he's in bad moods. Definitely tries to distract himself with even more social media.....

✧ a pink bitch club au. Cater as Minako, Kalim as Gyaruko, and Lilia as Charlotte!!!! I feel like the role of VYT-24 fits Ortho because,,, android.

✧ omegaverse fwb......... whether he's an alpha, omega, or beta!!!! all is good!!! orz orz orz Cater helping you through your heats/ruts. Cater who gets too attached.

✧ serial killers Cater and Trey who work together. Aaaa but then serial killers Cater and Riddle.......... Riddle the lawful doctor who can easily find ways to cover things up or provide Cater with certain tools!!!
