(1/2) So I read thru your Negativity tag, and if you have the spoons for it (no judgment if you don't): I think part of why so many Joker antis shit on Bruce's no-kill code is because he routinely forgets/loosens it for non-Joker villains/characters in general. KGBeast is the most infamous example, but there's just. Zillions of no-name henchmen and serial killers he's pulled the "Don't have to save you" routine on.
Tumblr media
Hey! There's definitely some truth to this argument-- Joker's plot armor is infamous for a reason. However, I think there's a bunch of other factors to take into account when talking about Bruce's no-killing rule and his his flexibility around it, when it comes to Joker specifically.
I wouldn't agree that Bruce routinely forgets his no-killing code, or that he's done it for so many criminals. While it has happened more than once and it is a pattern, it's still more of an exception rather than the rule; most of the time, you see Batman desperately trying to save people, no matter who they are. It's actually something most villains use against him. It's why they constantly take hostages or throw someone off the roof of a building and then run the other way, knowing that Batman would always choose to save someone rather than chase. For a character with nearly a century of history, it's unavoidable he'd have a number of instances he's skirted the line regarding his no-killing rule... but also, for the same reason, you've got to keep in mind how many more cases offset these exceptions. Not to even mention the inherent inconsistencies that arise, when you've got thousands of writers handling one character over so long. The "I don't have to save you" thing is characterization more accurate to the Bruce Wayne present in Nolan's trilogy, which is where the line comes from. Also, there's a distinction to be made between Bruce directly attempting murder and Bruce allowing someone's death to take place indirectly. The KGBeast example is indeed one of the most famous, but to be fair, it was retconned very soon after-- with Bruce feeling guilty about leaving the villain to die and calling the police [Batman (1940) #439]. I've actually got a couple of posts talking about Bruce's patterns and his no-killing rule here, and here (with the latter being Joker-oriented).
To sum up a bit though, in the last post I make the point that Bruce has nearly killed Joker with his own hands twice (first time he got stopped by Jason, second time by Jim, and to be honest if I take Zdarsky's run into account, a couple times more). He also allowed for the possibility of Joker's death like three times just off the top of my head (letting him crash with the helicopter in DitF, letting Jim shoot Joker in NML after Sarah Essen-Gordon's murder, walking away from Joker while he had a bomb strapped to him at the end of Joker War). And thing is, Bruce has also canonically nearly stabbed Riddler, pretty much pushed Penguin out of a moving car even though he'd just gotten his throat slashed, left Scarecrow to die a potentially very gory death, and I could keep going... But then why is Joker special? Why do people still feel like he's the one getting special treatment, and find it so annoying that Bruce keeps saving his life? That he just won't die?
Well, it's two things: frequency and meaning, and they go together. Batman and Joker are one of the most famous hero-villain pairings in modern comic books, and the conflict at the centre of their dynamic defines their characters to the extent that writers can't help but come back to it, again and again... for the drama, the emotional stakes. See, it's much more engaging and it carries more weight to write Batman into situations in which his nemesis, the one person who's ruined his life most, is dying or facing death-- because then, the no-killing rule and his inner conflict over it is that much deeper and poignant. It's still interesting to see Bruce struggle with his treatment of more generic criminals, or even some of the famous Rogues, but Joker is special because he exists to challenge the no-killing rule. Joker makes it his goal to get Batman to cross the line and kill him. Joker literally wants Batman to kill him! But if Batman kills him and crosses the one line that he feels makes him who he is, then there's no story to tell anymore. You've got a monster like The Batman Who Laughs or the Bruce Jason encountered in Countdown, and a dead Joker.
In the end, complaining that Joker is in so many life-or-death situations and that he never dies because (more often than not) Batman saves him, is like complaining that a knife cuts your stake too well. Joker, as a character, is doing what he's designed to do. I will readily admit that DC has overdone this to death, and that many times it isn't written well. Joker's plot armor has gotten ridiculous, mostly because DC will never retire such a popular character that's making them so much money. But at the end of the day, if you argue that Bruce's no-killing rule (Batman's core tenet) has no meaning because it's being used to create drama for money... you could argue the exact same thing about many other traits and DC characters, unfortunately. Just pick a story and follow the thread. For example, something similar could be said about the recent Gotham War arc; maybe DC went "Oh, Batman cares about his Family and he struggles with his darker side? Smash those two together and rake in the cash! Let's make them all fight each other! Sure, we did this a bajillion times already, but this time..."
Anyway. I'll stop rambling, but you get my drift. Unfortunately, as comic fans (and not only), we live in a reality in which most of the time, money is the very real Doylist motivator. But we can't only be Doylists, it's impossible (and way too bleak); we've got to be Watsonian too. Take the story as it is, and create meaning. Even when there might be little intended, or perhaps especially then-- through the transformative power of our own interpretations. Or at least, that's how I see it.

Hi! I would love to hear your thoughts about classism in TGCF, but specifically regarding XL. It surprised me to see people hating on XL for not knowing or doing better during his teenage years of luxury as the crown prince and making XL a complete villain because he didn't take down classism and restructure society despite still being a kid himself. It struck me as odd that the fandom is well aware of his 800 years in poverty but also not really addressing the fact that XL, too, is a victim of classism albeit a little different from someone like MQ.
Hi there! So sorry it's taken me this long to get to this ask, I've just been in sort of a funk for a few days haha.
But yeah, this is definitely a topic that comes up from time to time, with lots of discussion about. It surprises me that despite that, there are still people (maybe just newer fans? idk) who still hate on Xie Lian for his naive views as a 17yo. Especially since, despite being a naive 17yo, he still really wanted to help people less fortunate than himself. He didn't quite understand how to do this in the most effective ways (because he was a teenager), so it came off as somewhat patronizing as he was a person in a position of power compared to everyone else. Yet his desire to help people was genuine, and he didn't personally think of "common folk" as being any lesser than "royalty" -- even though in this case, there kind of literally was a difference. (E.g. when Lang Ying goes from being a commoner to a king, he gets a "kingly aura" that protects him!) So it's honestly kind of incredible that Xie Lian is willing to say things like "I think people are equal, even gods and humans, and if the Heavens disagree with me, then it's the Heavens that are wrong" with his entire heart.
I imagine a large part of the hate Xie Lian gets from certain fans is jealousy or resentment, due to the fact that Xie Lian was "born privileged." But on it's own, "privilege" is not "the great enemy" -- it's what said privilege means in the context of society, and what someone does/doesn't do with it that merits judgement. Xie Lian doesn't fully understand the privilege he had until he loses it (again: because he was 17!), but he still understood it enough to use it to protect and help people. That's more than many other characters can say. Him starting out as a prince doesn't automatically disqualify him from class struggles or the horrors of poverty. It's nonsensical to think so, when this is a character who literally spent almost 800 years busking for scraps, while sleeping in dirt outside and eating garbage….
On the flip side, as you mentioned Mu Qing -- yes, he was a victim of classism. But he's a very strange figure to use as the poster boy for that, though he often is by people who are critical of Xie Lian. This may be a controversial take, despite it being something I think that makes the character of Mu Qing really interesting: but he's a very "typical" guy within the concept of classism. He's someone who started off with a bad lot, but then ended up ascending to the highest point you pretty much can in that world/society. Which is great! He did that through hard work, and it paid off! But now, since he got his "happy ending," that's kind of it for him. He doesn't do anything to materially improve the lives of those less fortunate, especially those he has no personal connection with. This doesn't make him a bad person -- it's not really his job to that, even as a god. He's a martial god, so he's there to subdue threats and all that. Yet you can clearly see, that's exactly the type of person society values because such "rags to riches" stories give legitimacy to the whole system, and because they don't rock the boat once they're on top.
So then it's odd to be angry at Xie Lian but not Mu Qing (or others) for the lack of some "grand revolution" that some readers seem to want.
Ironically, Xie Lian used what power he had to try and help people -- and he was worse off for it. If he had done nothing, he would have been able to live a happy and carefree life. He would have lived and died as a rich prince/king with no troubles. Like, that's the point! The societies we live in punish those who want to broadly help others or make meaningful change, while rewarding those who quietly play the game for themselves -- because it helps keep the wheels turning. It doesn't matter at "what end" of the spectrum you start out on, the rules apply the same way. If you go against the establishment, there's a price to be paid.
Throughout Xie Lian's long journey, he learns this lesson the hard way. And the fact that in order to change it, he would somehow have to change the hearts and minds of pretty much everyone -- which is an impossible ask. How is he even supposed to that, or restructure society as a whole, without vast amounts of collateral damage? In the end, Xie Lian discovers that he was not wrong in his desire to help people, even if he cannot help everyone. He can still help people he meets in whatever ways he can, and that is still important. To show kindness, mercy, and empathy towards your fellow man is worth it. Helping your neighbors or complete strangers you meet once and then never again -- all that is still worth it.
I wish I had the time to sit down and really talk about this in a more organized way, but these disjointed thoughts are all I can manage at the moment! I hope it was still valuable to you in some way, and thank you for sending in the ask!
(Also, I recently reblogged a post that talked about something similar if you wanna check it out, Anon. It's right under the manhua highlights I think!)

Please I need more of shy dating app shinshou 😭
hmmmm, i don't really know what to say!!
i think it's a little bit weird because... you honestly don't expect it to work out so well with him. not that you didn't want it to, but dating app relationships never go *this* well, right? so the fact that it made it to the point of meeting is. almost shocking.
(but he's the only guy who's ever made you laugh through a screen, much less gotten you flustered... the only one who's ever offered you so much of his free time, too, you wonder: does he ever sleep?, alongside all these oaths of pleasure: is he lying?)
but like... then you meet, and he actually is who he says, and you're who you say (and much, much MORE)... so there comes this sudden shyness when that fear, the only fear left between you, now that you've been talking so long, is assuaged.
but you know that thing that happens when... you both KNOW you're into each other and the tensions are high w/ attraction but neither of you know how to actually light the spark to let it all unleash?
THAT'S how it feels when you're finally w/ shinso irl. so different than when online ... but not because he feels or thinks differently, but because he doesn't want to come off too strong too fast and scare you off. like a persona is one thing, of course, but actually fucking u on the first or second date? teasing you til you're giggling and hot.... IDK. it feels a little... impolite, doesn't it?
but he's nothing but a gentleman, and it's an... interesting surprise. not bad, far from it, but.............. suddenly his cool, sly and funny nonchalance that tickles you through text has become........... handsome, thoughtful and intense in a way that makes your pelvis tight.
like, who is this sexy man??? who's taking your hand and kissing the back of it, opening the car door for you, putting his jacket around your shoulders after the meal and looking at you so intently every time you speak.
and it's good, SO good, but scary too because he's quieter than before, quieter than when you've been on the phone. and maybe that means he's not actually that into you after meeting you after all? just trying to get through it?
BUT NO. people said this in the tags of the initial post (and god bless them for it), but he's just ALSO in shock. at your beauty, your manner (i read too much early modern lit these days get me out of here), everything... and the whole date feels like the best thing to ever happen to him, even if he can't bring himself to express it, or address (to himself) how tight the crotch of his slacks got when he accidentally got a look down your fancy top.
so he comes off as shy! Poor guy!!!
.....................even if he does text you about going on a second date as soon as he gets home from dropping you off (and giving you a kiss on your cheek). and then tells you about what your little outfit was doing to him the WHOLE NIGHT.
(and yes, he smiles the next date. i promise).

twitter is really pissing me off with this. ( / wilbur soot , abuse )
love dream, hate dream, i don't care. you can think he's a terrible person, think he did terrible things WHILE ALSO acknowledging how well-spoken and important it was for him to say something. all of these stupid "he's doing it to save face!" or "this is an insane PR tactic" or even the "this is dangerous!!!" are actually so insensitive and to be quite honest makes you side with abusers!
dream is a victim of domestic violence and has been public about this for YEARS - it is so incredibly important that he spoke out in support of shelby while ALSO condemning wilbur's actions as a victim of domestic abuse to show solidarity, from one victim to another. to show that he KNOWS what it's like, he knows the behaviors and the tactics. he saw them in wilbur's bullshit "apology".
dream even says in his statement how encouraging it was to see, as a victim himself, that people were speaking out in support of shelby. how this was going to raise awareness to see the signs, to help encourage more people to speak out and not fear their abuser or just to be able to stand up for anyone who decides to speak out about it. to go on and completely diminish his words by saying "don't let this fool you!" is actually really gross. diminishing another victim's voice is gross. nobody said you had to like him for speaking up. did he have to? no. did anyone have to? also no! don't know why we're so upset and angry about having more uplifting voices, more support. we should be focusing on supporting shelby, not using another victim's message of support to shit on other people and bring external situations into this. it's gross and draws the attention away from the matter at hand, which is what the abuser tried to do in the first place.
since im here (probably won't be back to waffle until the tubbathon starts lol) i just wanted to point out the parts that really stuck out to me from his response because even though i don't really care for him anymore, i do think his support/condemnation has been the best worded so far.
"she had a reason to be afraid to say your name, but you shouldn't have been afraid to say hers"
i got actual chills from that one because FUCK it's so true. it bothered me so bad that wilbur was so vague about it almost as if he could AVOID it if he never attached her name to it. idk if theres really any legal stuff behind it or what not but other than that he had zero consequences for naming her directly. zero consequences for giving her a direct apology. his "apology" didn't even sound like it was TO HER. he isn't sorry, he obviously doesn't know what he has to be sorry for if he's too much of a pussy to address her directly.
"thank you for being brave"
it is so so important that he described her as such because not only does it continue to uplift her and encourage her to stay strong and continue to be brave, but it shows that speaking out against any form of abuse no matter what it is is BRAVE. it's admirable and hopefully sends encouragement to anyone else who reads it that speaking out against it is brave. point blank period. (and honestly everything in his apology to shelby was so incredibly well-worded - its really the fucking fact that dream who had no involvement whatsoever could apologize but wilbur didn't even know what he was supposed to apologize for lol.)
i've said this before, and i'll say it again. all of my love and support goes out to shelby. i am so incredibly inspired and proud of her for being able to stand up for herself, to speak out against someone even if they had a larger platform and raise awareness to the signs and pieces of shit within the community so we don't continue to support and platform dangerous people. i've watched shelby for such a long time, she was such an important part of my childhood and it actually breaks my heart that someone could even THINK of doing anything like that to her because she is such a fucking light and fuck ANYONE who would do anything to try and put that out. i wish her nothing but the best and all of the healing in the world because she deserves it so so much. my heart goes out to any and all other victims of wilbur, as well.

my personal take is that turning tntduo into ocs doesn't really do anything. it doesn't address the problems, it doesn't change the characters, at best it's just a lazy escape from an awful creator. before this, the only time i've seen people turn tntduo into ocs is because they thought dsmp was too cringe of a fandom but they still liked the characters, so they decided to give them new names and call it a day. dsmp has been over for nearly two years and i honestly don't think anyone in the fandom still connects characters with ccs like they did in 2020.
after dream was exposed, i saw almost nobody turning cdream into an oc (partially because he's an awful person). there was just the agreement after a few months passed that we would treat the character as separate from the cc and analyse him without input from the cc, which in my opinion is the most emotionally mature thing to do in this situation as well. of course you're free to do whatever you like but idk oc-ification just seems cheap and performative to me /nm/gen
I see your point, honestly I agree
Idk it's just a difficult situation, and frankly I was and still am also waiting for the internet's verdict, cause personally I am able to separate the character from the content creator, but I haven't been following any of the dsmp content creators for a real long while now. A prime example is ccdream, actually - I hardly know what happened with him, aside from that there were allegations of grooming I believe? I have no idea how it stands as of now, if anything's been proven or disproven, I just don't follow the cc, and I haven't written/drawn anything involving the character either (aside planning a very quick and brief cameo in my fic as a bg character which I could honestly remove but haven't gotten to even thinking about that out just yet)
But ultimately, reading that others also see it similarly, I think I will just continue what I've been doing, aside maybe giving them a nice redesign (their design was always the only thing actually tied to the CC's in my head, and I've felt limited by that conviction for a while now) (I mean like in general characters and content creators have always been completely separate entities for me, the design is the closest they got in my head)

wow your gaylor anon does sound well-meaning, but very lost on this blog from their usual side of the internet I’d guess!
I’m particularly bamboozled by those three songs being used as kaylor breakup evidence. well, less so exile, I can see how they got there even if I have a different interpretation of it (mourning the called-off coming out, and having to go deeper into the love blackout, ruminating on the fans view of her closet). but mtr!? clearly about scott b! the stolen lullabies, the jewels she gave him as his main cash cow? the pain of that betrayal by a father figure!! also the funeral procession choreo - ties nicely into your point about taylor wearing black for the stolen masters. there’s also a long history of writing romantic-coded ‘break up songs’ for your label, think dolly parton etc. and mad woman?! the obvious scooter and yael diss track where taylor outs his cheating (which potentially contributed to their divorce not long after). does anon completely miss the feminist angle of ‘this man gaslights me by calling me mad and overreactive, so I’ll show him a real mad woman’ ???? (+ karlie as the taylor-faced neighbour who secretly mouths ‘fuck you’ at him)
I know we’re all known for reaching in the gaylor-sphere, but by occam’s razor, I feel like you have to do some real twisting to believe those ones aren’t about those men.
(I actually wrote out my personal interpretation of each song in more depth but it’s wayy too long, and probably just a repeat of opinions anon could find on this blog and others in this ecosystem. anon has given me far too many thoughts to write on my lunch break rn lol)
yeah i didn’t address the song choices but mtr is a wild one for sure. and mad woman i’ve talked about a lot but really i think that song is actually proof in favor of the idea that they didn’t break up in 2019. plus the thing about the i can and i will necklace.
exile too, especially when you couple it with the other bon iver duet (evermore) and think about the context of the election in 2016 (upon which karlie got exiled in a way) and again in 2020 (taylor connected evermore to the feeling of knowing biden would win over trump, and knowing the pain wouldn’t be for evermore), and idk it just makes so much sense in the context of how their relationship would have had to adapt and change over the years, without having to be about breaking up.
i’m not saying anon thinks any one certain way but i do think that gaylors in general have, of their own volition and they’re happy to tell you, positioned gaylorism as something focused on the exploration of the gayness of taylor’s lyrics and of it being ‘museless’ and i would suggest that while there is value to this sort of think in a vacuum, by refuting other analysis unfortunately this ‘lens’ often makes for a contextless interpretation of so many of taylor’s songs. like if you think about the political angle and the times taylor was in or karlie was in throughout this specific span of time, a lot of these sad song just make so much sense! maathp makes sense! maroon makes sense! exile makes sense, hoax makes sense, mad woman makes sense, vigilante shit makes sense, any number of songs make a whole lot of sense. i don’t think that this is something offensive to taylor like… in essence kaylor is an attempt to understand the impetus behind the artist, her motivations, and what inspired her to create so much of this art. idk, im babbling a bit again it’s just. ahh… there’s just so much meaning that gets lost in the gaylor process i feel.

Oatmeal Raisin // Jason Todd x GN! Reader
lil fluff piece. platonic! but any kind of relationship can be implied. jason has a lil craving for cookies that you help him out with. tim is allergic to peanuts which idk if that’s canon or not but…
As far as you were concerned Jason didn’t like you, not really. He got along with you civilly, certainly. But in all your years of friendship with one Timothy Jackson Drake, you hardly spoke. So you never really got to know Jason the way you got to know the others. At least not at first.
It was difficult to get to know any of them actually. Especially before you were let in on the whole Batman thing, and even after. It was hard for them to open up. And that was fine, because you understood that. And they were trying and you could appreciate that.
Naturally, Dick was the easiest to like and it got even easier when you found out that he was your beloved Nightwing. You were in love with Nightwing; owned all the memorabilia, had postcards of him plastered on your wall, knew his patrol routes as well as a civilian could so that you might just catch a glimpse of your favorite masked crusader. When you learned that you knew him? Dick became the sole recipient of your constant doting and gushing about how cool he looked on TV and what the latest magazine had to say on his relationships, his impacts on Bludhaven and so forth. You both shared a sense of humor, corny dad jokes and all.
Damian was trickier. You weren’t exactly good with children, which was bad enough, but he acted so maturely for his age it was hard for you to not feel intimidated. But as you fell for Titus, he yielded himself slightly. And when you learned that he could be swayed by the promise of a bedtime story (Jane Austen of course), so long as it was offered without condescension, it’d sealed the deal.
You bonded with Stephanie and Cass over disorganizing Tim’s meticulously arranged utility belt and hiding away all his suit capes around the manor. You argued with Babs over which stage of the hero’s journey Bruce was at in his developmental arc. You didn’t galavant the streets with them in search for crime, nor did you share tragic secrets in hushed solemn tones. Being a friend was enough.
Until eventually, you clicked with everyone over time. Everyone but Jason.
That’s not to say you didn’t like him. You admired him in your own way. He was pretty cool. He never missed a shot in training and if you were lucky enough to catch him in a talkative mood he’d teach you about the vital points to aim for or how to break off the safety switch on a gun so it wouldn’t interfere with your performance and throw you off (not a true story, just a hypothetical.) “Essential street smarts.” That was the extent of your interaction.
Until one night, you found him knocking on your window.
How he got your address was another story, probably the same way Tim knew your credit card number or how Cass found your Netflix password, but regardless he was at your window tapping away. You opened it, letting him in.
“Hey… If you’re looking Tim or something, he’s not here.
Jason clambered through the window, taking his hood off and setting it on your kitchen countertop on the way.
“Timberly? No no, I’m not here for that loser. He keeps talking about how much you like baking though, is it true?”
His back was to you as he tugged the gloves off his hands to run his hands under the water from your faucet. He sure knew how to make himself feel at home.
“Yes. Yeah. I do. Why?” Your brows knit in visible confusion as he turned off the water, wiping his hands on the towel you hung off the oven handle.
“You know know how to make oatmeal raisin cookies?”
“I’m sorry? Oatmeal raisin?”
“Yeah. You know how to make them or not?” Turning around, the muscular man crossed his arms, looking down at you from across the room almost condescendingly, like it was a challenge.
“...you know what? I do know how to make oatmeal raisin cookies. Go run and buy raisins, I’ll start on the batter.”
Sure enough, within ten minutes Jason came swinging back through your window with a jumbo bag of raisins. After nagging him for walking through your living room with his boots on and making a quip about how he’d never finish that many raisins, you invited him to the kitchen.
He was a terrible cook. You didn’t know how he succeeded in mistaking flour for sugar, but he managed. After scrapping the first batter he added four extra eggs to and halfway through the second, you kicked him out and took over completely.
“No, I insist. Let me do it, it’s okay. Just sit over there and read a book or twiddle your thumbs or something, please.”
A half hour later, your kitchen was soiled but they were baking. Closing the oven with a satisfied huff, you looked over to Jason as you straightened yourself up.
Jason was watching you. But not in the critical way he fixed his gaze on passerby’s on the street or the hard gaze he’d set on his targets; just watching you. Calloused hands tossed a bullet cartridge between them as his feet swung to and fro from your barstool chair. He looked so boyish, it was almost cute.
“They’ll be done in twelve. Why oatmeal raisin? I’m not judging or anything but I make a mean chocolate chip that blows raisins out of the water.”
A tap sounded as he placed the cartridge down on the marble counter with a shrug.
“S’what my mom used to make.”
Slinking over to the adjacent chair, you took off the oven mitts to rest your face in your palms, looking at him expectantly to continue.
“What? We’re telling stories now?”
“I mean, you almost never talk to me and then you swing in asking for the least popular cookie type to date— I think a story time might be in order.”
“You’re keeping your mouth shut short stack, no one hears any of this.”
Huffing a giggle, you motioned zipping your mouth and flicking away the invisible key as he rolled his eyes.
“I didn’t exactly grow up rich. We’d have oatmeal every other day, mostly because that’s what she could scrape together. Fucking twat I was, couldn’t stand it. Threw a tantrum couple times ‘bout how tired I was of it. So she made oatmeal raisin cookies.”
His gaze was on his hands as he spoke but his eyes seemed to see anything but.
“I don’t want to get into all the details but, no matter how she treated me or raised me, she was still my mother. Afforded me this much kindness. Sometimes I almost miss her. So. Oatmeal raisin cookies.”
Wide eyes watched him, at a loss for words as your mind ran to process a response.
Breaking free from the recesses of his mind, he turned to look at you as he continued.
“Alfred usually makes them, but he’s out of town on business so… just thought I’d swing by I guess.”
The beep of the oven took you out of the trance.
Blinking, you stood. Clapping your hands together and reaching for the oven mitts.
“Well! I don’t know how good hers were, but mine are pretty hard to beat.”
Pulling the tray out of the oven, you let them cool a moment as you sought out a plate. Transferring them over, you slid it in his direction with a smug smile.
“Yeah, nothing beats Alfred’s, bud.”
He brought one to his nose, taking an obnoxiously loud whiff, cocking an eyebrow almost animatedly.
“6/10, more cinnamon could’ve been in order.”
“It’s not my fault you dropped like half my jar in the first batch!”
“Don’t yell at your food critic. Three point deduction.”
You scoffed, crossing your arms, “my apologies, my liege.”
Without missing a beat, he’d managed to shove the entire cookie in his mouth in one bite with the same cocky arrogance he’d held before. Mid chew, he stopped, looking at you in bewilderment before reaching for another one.
“What the fuck did you put in this?”
You burst out grinning, “Love, rainbows, and cyanide, it’s a secret recipe.”
If he heard you, he didn’t acknowledge it; scarfing down another with hesitation. Not that you minded. His usually stoic, suave, aura paled in the way his face lit up.
Between the two of you (mostly him), three tray fulls evaporated in the span of half an hour.
Packing up the last few batches you’d prepped and insisting he take the raisins home, you handed him a bag to see him off with.
“These got any nuts by any chance?”
“I used peanut butter, yes.”
“Thank you for your service, I will be passing on some to Tim.”
You snorted, “You’re not killing my best friend.”
With his hood back on, bag in hand, he clambered halfway out your window before turning his head back towards you.
“...can I come back for these? When Alfred’s busy that is.”
It caught you off guard.

Idk this is somewhat of an au. Just a bit of writing bc I got bored.
(Stan is very used to a routine and finds it weird if things aren’t the same way apparently. I wrote basically this line so many times without even realizing 😭 it may change as I edit this, as this is from pre-editing clarity)
[After editing clarity: if you have any questions, comments, concerns or constructive criticism, feel free to give any, because I probably missed stuff in my current half-asleep state. Otherwise, enjoy!]
Stan was waiting by the bus stop, as he did every morning. It felt weird not to do so. He’d been doing it since third or fourth grade after all. It was just routine.
Before Stan could think too much about how long his routine had stayed virtually the same, his best friend Kyle walked over. He was without his ushanka today, something that happened a lot more since Stan said once that Kyle looked good without a hat. Stan didn’t mind.
Stan waved while he watched Kyle make his way over.
Pale, usually decently clear skin and fiery red hair. Green eyes that were brighter than his hat when he wore it, but still went with his accessories regardless.
Stan always found himself observing his super best-friend intently, but wasn’t sure why. He just figured he found Kyle neat, as you should with your best friend.
“Hey dude!” Kyle said, waving, before taking his normal spot next to Stan. “How’s it going?”
“Good,” Stan replied with a small smile.
“Glad to hear,” Kyle said.
They stood for a bit in silence, though not an uncomfortable one. They were such good friends that they could go a while without saying anything and not feel awkward.
After a few minutes, Stan pulled out his phone. He opened an app and started scrolling. It wasn’t long before Kyle was watching over his shoulder.
Stan was used to it at this point. Sheila let Kyle have a phone, of course, but she set up a ton of unnecessary, at least in Stan’s eyes, settings to the phone as Kyle got older. One of those was having the screen time off until after school ends each day, with the restrictions lifting at 3 pm.
Which led to Kyle using watching over Stan’s shoulder as a form of entertainment most of the time. Stan didn’t mind though. For some reason, he really enjoyed when Kyle took interest in whatever was on Stan’s phone and leaned in. Just. His super best-friend. Pretty much close as possible.
Stan shook whatever weird could-be-interpreted-as-gayass thoughts he had floating around from his head and switched his focus back to whatever random shit was playing on his phone.
Well.
He tried to at least.
All he could actually focus on was Kyle leaning his chin on Stan’s shoulder from behind to watch Stan’s phone. Kyle was fully leaning on Stan’s shoulder, close to his face, and Stan felt red.
He didn’t know why, but he felt a bit naseuos all of a sudden.
“Oh, dude sorry but I don’t think it’s the best idea to be so close,” Stan said, voice sounding tight.
“Oh, are you alright?” Kyle asked, sounding worried.
“Yeah. ‘m good. Just need to breathe for a sec…” Stan said, trying to calm his cramping stomach.
what the actual fuck was that about Stanley?! Stan said to himself in his head.
The naseua had calmed down, but now Stan had to address the reason as to WHY he had become naseuos in the first place.
Well, he knew that he used to puke around Wendy when he still liked her…
But that would mean…
Stan shook yet another thought from his head.
God, what was wrong with him today?
Yeah, no. Thats something to unpack later…
Right as Stan finished his thought, Kenny and Cartman arrived.
Kenny had chilled a bit on his lowkey-kind-of-perv-y ways as he’d grown, but Cartman was still a bit of an asshole. Stan honestly would’ve thought something was wrong if he wasn’t.
“What’s up f**s?” Cartman said as he patted Stan HARD on the shoulder, shoving him a bit. “Hope we didn’t interrupt a make out sesh or something.”
Cartman started laughing to himself. Kyle just glared at him, and Stan watched as he walked over to yell at the bigoted boy. A normal thing for the four friends to have play out.
“Hey Stan,” Kenny said from under his parka.
He wore it less often now, but it was a cold winter day, and the extra layer probably felt nice.
“Hi Ken,” Stan said with a greeting high five and fist-bump.
They stood for a bit watching Kyle and Cartman argue before the bus got to their stop.
They all climbed in, Kenny and Cartman sitting more to the front to gossip and be social, while Stan and Kyle sat at the very back of the bus.
Stan took out his phone again, plugging his earbuds in and clicking on his playlist. He stuck one headphone in his right ear and gave the other to Kyle. Listening to music together was an every day occurrence to them. One of Stan’s favorite moments in any day.
Kyle leaned on his shoulder, and after Stan made sure no one was watching them too closely, he leaned his head on top on top of Kyle’s and closed his eyes for a bit.
He wondered how far Kyle must be leaning down to pull off the leaning, but Stan didn’t want to interrupt the moment with unnecessary movement.
All too soon, they were at school, and they had to separate before anyone called them GAY.
Not that that was necessarily a bad thing, but they didn’t want people to label them as something they weren’t. They were just…best buds.
At least, that’s what Stan tried to get himself to believe.
Whatever. Let’s just get inside, get to our lockers and go to first period. No more gay thoughts about your best friend, Stanley, Stan thought to himself.
And with that, then walked into school for the day.

I'll be completely honest, I think telescope was good but there's just something about YFM as a whole now that...I am just gonna rant about here.
So, first of all we should address the elephant in the room: the AI art that was used. Honestly, It was a terrible decision because indifferently from your views, it cheapened the music video; it was still, there wasn't any kind of action and I think that the fundamental issue is that it could have worked if they did something like what they did for a section in "damn I am ugly" (I believe) aka change their art style and animation style.
And it would have been MILES better AND it would have given actual artists/animators work, thus making for a much more compelling work with actual human contribution which would have given YFM more positive press, expecially counting how the other videos were of very varing qualities and the fanbase has been dissolving with the time (which also happened in gen 1.5 so history repeating itself ha ha (pain)). Because there are some actually decent visuals that could have been improved (like the stars in Deejay's hair) that I think are really cool but lack... humanity in them.
So now there is the other (baby) elephant in the room that are the new voices, and while I like Ben's voice replacement (I am the minority ig) Axel's is too...ooc??
It doesn't fit him at all, and I think that someone with an higher voice would be better in the role because it feels like RWJ just went "Well Axel is a strong, big guy so he must have a deep voice" and like no Ray. Not at all. He sounds more pop??? Jazzy??? Idk just one of those guys who do song covers on the clock app and that's not a bad thing, but it's AXEL!!! His whole personality is liking metal and he should have an higher voice, like Billie Joe ig??? I know that there are metal singers with deep voices, but his voice is not deep in YFMTS, and even if it was lower when singing, like Ben's, it would be THIS low.
Anyway sorry for ranting so hard about Axel, I just have really strong feelings about him and his impact on the song. But moving on, the rest was pretty alright and actually enjoyable; like yeah it's a pretty standard rap beat I suppose but it scratches your brain, the hook might be repeatable, but it's a hook that's kinda it's point. Steve saved this song honestly, if Axel was the only one singing the chorus or all of the guys togheter/separately, I would have like it WAY less.
I am so sorry for making this a confession but I honestly did it because I wanted to talk about how YFM I'd tiktok-fing itself and I got lost ranting (you have every right to delete this ask for it lol), but I think that the whole AI art and hook and lyrics and everything is more because YFM is kinda losing it's identity. I already touched in another ask about how YT shorts (which is Ray's main platform now) is full of AI art content, and while I think that it was actually used because Ray was actually trying to experiment, I can't but think that there is a deeper reason that is ingrained in the amount of AI art there is on the site. And I think that the reason is how yfm is becoming way less Ray's music project and more Ray's vtuber account; with the few releases and the yt shorts etc.
And I think that that's also represented in how the songs are becoming more pop sounding or catchy or smth, idk how to explain it but they feel more corporate? Which it's dumb, I know, but bear with me. When you listen to something like my balls, you can still feel the silliness that yfm was born from, just dumb meme rap. But it's kinda getting lost, the song aren't really that jokingly anymore I suppose, they take themselves more seriously and that doesn't really jive with YFM presentation imo.
I am gonna make an actual post with organised thoughts on my blog after I realise what's bugging me, but yeah I wanted to make a small ask and it turned into a long ass rant. Sorry I promise I won't do it anymore, I got carried away <3 /p.
i was actually gonna mention the whole corporate feel too. like there’s little humor in it, telescope is a prime example of that. it’s not like they’re trying to be more serious and have passion like some songs in gen 1.5. and they’re not trying to be silly either. it feels fake as hell a lot of the time, but usually the visuals make up for that. like in everyone clapped even though the songs kinda meh (BESIDES JESSES PART HE COOKED.) the animation is very silly?? so it makes up for it. but with telescope it’s just lifeless. but i hope it gets better. like i’m praying. i’m also hoping they stop making the ugliest merch ever holy shit it’s bad. what even are those hoodies.

stranger things raiding all our Generation's shit and having it used for all these illustrations now is disgusting !
this again? I guess this is about skater Eddie.
there are a lot of assumptions being made here. I’d ignore you. People keep telling me to ignore this type of thing but I just don’t want to.
first I’ll address the ‘our generation’. You said that like you know anything about me or anything about the generation I’m from. well guess what? I’m not a kid. I’m actually kinda old. maybe even older than you. I grew up with skate culture. i skate. it’s VERY much a hobby of mine. but even if it wasn’t that would also be fine because this is for fun.
secondly, it’s weird that you think the generation you’re from (I’m assuming young gen x or older millennial here- you assume so I can too) has a claim on skateboarding. It’s been around for a while now. It’s been a thing since before your generation, it will probably continue to be a thing after and more impressively, it’s literally an Olympic sport. Little Sky Brown won the bronze for GB WHEN SHE WAS 13. I sat and watched her fucking kill it, a long with all the other little girls. I liked watching the grown ups too but idk something about watching these kids absolutely hold their own against the adults was inspirational.
It’s not YOUR culture. It’s not MY culture. It does not belong to any individual and you can’t gatekeep it because I drew a character from a tv show you dislike on a skateboard. the world doesn’t work like that babe ♥️
here are some of my current decks! got a few more round the corner and I’ve got a few more that are so fucked that there’s not really much point in taking pictures of them. while I don’t feel the need to prove myself, I do like showing these off.

(Really long ask ahead i’m sorry!) I think your thoughts on dick and his similarities vs differences to bruce are so interesting! Personally i’m wondering how much of NTT played an influence on this kind of characterization bc i’ve never fully finished ntt but i read like nearly all the pre-80s batman 1940 issues lol and dick very much was portrayed as more idealistic than bruce in some ways while more no-nonsense (? For lack of better word) in other ways, like when it comes to batman easing up a little on selina for romance reasons LOL. Though ofc dick totally turns into - well, a dick - in team books, as i grow older i find myself far more compelled by a potential story of an 18 yr old who seemed to have the whole weight of the world on his shoulders (by his own perception) and breaking under his own impractically strong sense of duty and sky-high expectations for others, then realizing as he grows older that it doesn’t have to be that way esp after seeing the perspectives of characters like kory, wally, joey, roy, etc. Like personally as someone who never really had a huge interest in NTT anyway, i’m surprised at how desperately people want to hold on to the characterization of dick when he was 18-19 and never letting him grow past that, like it’s so difficult for me to believe that at age 25 he would be the same uptight controlling kid that he was at 19. Maybe i’m biased though bc i was like one of those insufferable INTJ internet stereotypes as a teenager, and while that worldview did bring me achievements i’m proud of like the fact that i’m in med school rn studying what i love, i still know that at age 22 i have changed SO much from when i was 18 and i can’t imagine any reasonably mature or normally-functioning person (let alone someone high-functioning like dick) not doing the same lol. Especially since dick is the kind of person who would literally die if he’s not constantly growing and evolving past his faults bc of his insufferable perfectionism, idk how he’d be willfully blind to the negative effects of his worldview in early NTT and refuse to grow from there. He even has a quote that’s like “i’ve spent years as a student of my own behavior” which i always found highly encouraging bc i know he really does want to improve himself even at his worst. It reminds me of that Marcus Aurelius quote: “if someone can prove me wrong and show me my mistake in any thought or action, i shall gladly change. I seek the truth, which never harmed anyone; the harm is to persist in one’s own self-deception and ignorance.” But what are your thoughts? (Thank you for reading all this 🥹)
oh i absolutely agree! i cannot tell you how many times i think about the person i was a couple years ago and who i am now like i cringe so much omg.. maturity is an ever persistent process even if we don't recognize its effects immediately and it absolutely is crazy to think that anyone would remain in such a static state of mind for several years on end. esp when like you said dick is someone who wants to be better! so despite his several hypocrisies it is nonetheless in his best interests to look internally and analyze and evolve. and i feel like that very much could have happened had there been any actual segue between dick's breakup with kory and his re-entry into the batfam. i don't think there was much of a connection between these two sets of writers at all and so what you got is what felt like two very distinct parts of dick's life that didn't necessarily reveal a bridge point. so it's not entirely unrealistic that dick may grow to be the person (at least to some extent) that bat canon portrayed him to be in the years that followed but i certainly think as it stands it felt unearned and like all of his issues explored in ntt were conveniently swept to the side without any semblance of closure (albeit i do think some of these issues are addressed in outsiders '03 but in that dickheaded way that winick explores things generally. so i'm not sure it's the kind of closure people actually want). it's very sad and ig that's what people cling to more than anything. it's not that they're opposed to him growing to be a better person but that they're opposed to a version of dick who feels like he sprung out of nothing
#ironically enough i Do think dick going back to gotham after the kory breakup made sense#like when something that big happens in your life what are you going to do. seek the advice of the one person you look up to more than anyt#ing right. but marv wolfman complicated things by writing bruce the way he did so rather than bruce playing an active part#in guiding dick through some of his issues and mistakes he instead became dick's burden to bear through extensive post knightfall trauma#and i mean you all know i Love knightfall. i really do it gives me brainworms upon brainworms#but i wish there had been just one moment. like after it was all over. that bruce and dick actually got to talk and like#discuss dick's problems yknow#i get the feeling they didn't delve much when writing prodigal bc they had to set up the next arcs and stuff but it's like#come on. come on. they could've afforded it. if dick really had to come back to gotham for a temporary stint where he tried to find himself#than a proper conversation with bruce about what he was going through should have been a part of that#bc i do think working with bruce's new cavalry of three teen heroes (tim / steph / cass) would have borne wonderful opportunities#for dick to grow as a leader and peer considering his ridiculous expectations of others and how this would measure up against teenagers#but the problem is that bat canon decided he was going to magically gel with everyone bc he was emotionally more well adjusted than bruce#was. like ok. ok. whateverrrrrrrr#like idk it's so funny they were given a dick with a plethora of issues and instead of using any of that ammo they were like nah#we're going to make our lives harder and give him new problems manifested out of thin air. totally makes sense. bullseye#outbox

I think a lot of the Austin hate now stems from Jacob fans, bt i find many of Jacobs "fans" to b very fleeting. i think the voice comments will always b there bt a lot of ppl got over the unjustified rumors of him cheating on Vanessa and ppl do think he/Kaia gerbers age gap is weird (ik i do 🥴) bt Austin just got famous from Elvis last yr n I dnt really think Kaia is that relevant in pop culture so some ppl will point it out bt I think their kinda overlooked as a couple. I think over time he will b fine though his fanbase seems to b strong
Yea, the Elvis/Jacob/Austin comparisons were bound to happen, so that was a given. 🤷🏾‍♀️
I still don't really get the voice thing tbh. Yea, his voice might be slightly different, but if you compare it to 7 years ago, his voice/accent basically sounds the same. He just has an older voice now, and maaaybe a less hard enunciation of certain words probably due to the Elvis vocal training all those years. But other than that?? People drove that voice thing into the ground imo.
Look, even Tom has an older voice now. That's what normally happens when you age. Your voice (yes, even women's voices) change a little, and usually get deeper with age.
But yea, I'm sure eventually people will get over it with him just like they got over the Anne Hathaway hate...
I'll address the Kaustin and Vanessa stuff below 👇:
RE: Kaustin....
I've already talked about what I think about them as a couple on my blog several times before... 🤐 Honestly? They as a couple have always seemed a bit OFF to me (and I'm not just talking about the age gap thing ; which is cringe in itself) and idk why. Look, I've tried to like them as a couple, and her, but I just can't get over the nepobaby-ism, and the weirdness of that family. I actually used to think they were real (and maybe they are?🤷🏾‍♀️) but this year, certain things about their relationship have seemed a bit contrived and pap-heavy??
Not only that, but they barely even look like they're close friends w/each other half the time ROTFL. 😅🤣 Their vibe is so off to me lol. I'm sorry. But the gut doesn't lie. They look so bored and dead w/each other sometimes. I keep saying that Vanessa is the one who got away... 👀 Want proof? Just do a simple Google search photo comparison of his "couple" pics with V and his "couple" pics with K. That's all I'll say lol... 🤭
But hey, if they're happy, then I'm happy for them!? 🤷🏾‍♀️ Idc who he dates honestly, just as long as she's a kind person, is genuine, down to earth, and is dating him for the right reasons.
Here's some tea☕for you.... There's been some in the fandom who spilled that supposedly, Kaia went after HIM. 👀 That wouldn't surprise me lol.
RE: Vanessa...
Yea, I never fully believed the cheating rumors tbh, cuz things just didn't make sense. And no woman I know would be hanging out with the girl who her bf of 9 years cheated on her with. Add to the fact that their families (esp her sister?) still follow each other?🤔
Also add to the fact that Ash Tisdale is still SUPER close to Austin, and I know she is/was a close friend of V's as well, so I doubt she'd be hanging tight with him if he cheated on her friend like that. 🥴 So things just never made sense?
More tea ☕ for you....Take this with a HUGE FAT GRAIN of salt (because who knows if any of this stuff is true?), but word on the street is that supposedly, Vanessa was the one who broke up with Austin. 👀
IF that is true, then that would explain a LOT. Supposedly, it had to do with Elvis filming. 🤐 Supposedly, they had already broken up before the film even started filming. It's a long story.
Anyway, they seemed really happy together all those years, so it's kinda sad they weren't able to try to work things out again. But oh well! It's too late now! V is about to be a married woman (if she isn't already!). 😅
Honestly?? I don't blame her if she really wanted marriage and a family, and she didn't want to continue to spend more time waiting for him (and his career, etc) to catch up.

I apologize if this question is all over the place, I am new to tumblr and not used to talking about system things. I was wondering if it is possible an alter can take your emotions or dull them down? I have practically no communication with my system and have been throughly blocked from them for months now. I am painfully lucid to the point I cannot even daydream or space out. I can't feel anyone and I'm alone. Every once in a while I can feel a presence "peek over my shoulder" so to speak, but idk who that is. I have no idea how to get a word in or establish communication at all. I've tried everything but I'm totally locked out and locked down. So I'm pretty much asking if you have any advice on how I can solve this as I'm completely lost...
Question is still a question, no need to be sorry for, you are having some issues and my job is to help, ok?
While it is possible for an alter to rob your emotions as its purpose, from the details you had explained to me, you might be front stuck and experiencing loads of stress. In this case my stance would be focusing on your environment first, is it safe there? Did something happened that blocked you out for months? Have you been actively de-stressing and coping well? Remember, stress keeps this cycle longer and need to be addressed properly.
Plus, im really sorry because being alone for too long and panicky due to it can be so scary and stressful to deal with, i want you to talk with me for the moment as a support buddy on DMs (and only if you want to), pushing too hard doesn't always mean its making any progress (this is referred to trying everything). I myself had been front stuck multiple times, as well as another friend who got stuck for months too, so you're not alone, with patience and support it will be solved.

that’s so evie episode 4
posted: 10 march 2023
word count: 1.9k
warnings: none that i can think of
an: another week, another episode of thats so evie. episode 2 will come out when it comes out, dont even worry, just give me time. idk anything about pottery, i watched this video. the challenge can be found here. words in [] are captions. feedback and reblogs are much appreciated 💘
eve's masterlist // that’s so evie
Tumblr media
“Hello and welcome back to another episode of That’s So Evie!” Eve greeted from inside a pottery studio. “Today, we are at Pottery workshop Yoho. It’s my first time coming here, so I’m very excited!” She shook her hands excitedly. “Today’s guest is… unworldly? Yes, that’s the right word for him. Please come out!”
[Kpop’s Prince Charming with master class acting. Making his long awaited solo debut, Minhyun!]
The staff cheered as Minhyun walked into the frame.
Covering her mouth, Eve laughed. “Why are you cheering so loud? You don’t normally cheer this loud.”
“Do they not normally cheer?” Minhyun asked as he stood next to Eve.
“No, they do, but… they’re not usually so energetic. Do you have a crush on today’s guest?” She asked the camera director, who shook her head and waved her hand. “Then why are you so excited?”
“Because he’s pretty,” one of the technical staff answered, causing Minhyun to blush.
Eve slowly shook her head in thought. “Have you never seen a pretty person before?”
[Butterfly princess struggles to understand the staff’s excitement]
Eve eyed the staff one more time. “Anyways, today’s guest is Minhyun. Please introduce yourself to the viewers.”
Minhyun bowed. “Hello, I’m Hwang Minhyun. Thank you for having me!”
“Thank you for coming,” Eve said. “How are you feeling today?”
Minhyun put his hand over his chest. “To be honest, I’m a bit nervous,” he said with a laugh. “I’m not really sure what we’re doing today, so I don’t know if I’ll be good.”
“Since you have been described by many as a ‘living statue’,” Eve began, snorting when Minhyun cringed. “I thought we should make pottery since it will be a statue of some sort. Is that okay?”
Minhyun nodded. “Yes. I think I’ll be good with that.”
“Good! And because I have no idea how to make pottery, we are going to need some guidance. Can our teacher come out please?”
A man walked into frame and the staff cheered for him.
“Why aren’t you cheering loudly? You don’t think he’s handsome?” Eve asked, causing the staff to cheer louder.
“Aigo, you’re very mischievous, aren’t you?” The teacher asked as he stood in between the two idols.
Eve smirked.
“She is,” Minhyun answered with a nod of his head.
[Minhyun already knows Eve so well]
“Please introduce yourself,” Eve requested.
The teacher cleared his throat. “Hello, viewers. My name is Park Insoo and I will be guiding Minhyun-ssi and Eve-ssi today.”
“One of my friends is named Insoo,” Minhyun said.
[Minhyun worked with Yoo Insoo on Alchemy of Souls. Park Danggu, we miss you!]
“How good do you think we’ll do?” Eve asked.
Insoo thought for a second. “Not that good, if I’m being honest.”
[Reality check]
“But that’s fine because it’s your first time doing this. You’re allowed to make mistakes.”
Eve nodded. “Also, one of the main points of the show is to just catch up with people as if you’re friends, so just address me casually.”
“Me too,” Minhyun added.
“Okay,” Insoo said. “Nabi-yah and Minhyun-ah. Got it.”
The group of three moved to a long table that had all their equipment.
“The first thing we want to do is knead the clay.” Insoo picked up his clay, Eve and Minhyun copied him. “We’re working with air dry clay and we’ll be making trays.”
“Trays?” Eve clarified.
“Yes,” he confirmed. “You can put your jewellery on it, or you can put vases on it– it’s up to you. The first thing we need to do is knead it to get rid of air bubbles. Let’s get started on kneading our clay. If it’s a bit hard to knead, then just add a few drops of water.”
The three got to working on their clay, kneading it very attentively.
“Minhyun, can you tell us about your album?” Eve asked, adding water to her clay to make it easier to knead.
“Yes. I’m making my solo debut with Truth or Lie and the title track Hidden Side. The title track is about how there’s many sides to me, but what you see is the real me,” Minhyun explained, smoothing out his clay.
She nodded appreciatively. “Sounds interesting. Which side of you would you say is your real side, though? Because you said what I, as an onlooker or a fan, see is the real you, but what is the real you.” She turned to look at him over Insoo. “Who is the real Hwang Minhyun?” She asked in a news reporter voice.
Insoo snorted. “She’s really good.”
Eve blushed, trying to use her fringe to hide her face.
“That’s a really good question,” Minhyun gushed, standing still. “Who is the real me?” He thought for a second. “I think… I don’t know,” he finished flatly, giving up on answering. He laughed, shrugging his shoulders. “I don’t know. I just sing the song. But that’s a very good question.”
“Right?” Insoo agreed. “Very professional.”
“This show is going to be very successful if you keep asking such amazing questions.”
Eve scrunched her face up. “Please stop complimenting me. I’m begging you.”
“Do you not like getting complimented?”
She shrugged. “It’s not that I don’t like getting complimented, it’s just I don’t know how to react and I end up feeling uncomfortable. That’s all.”
He nodded. “I understand.”
“Now,” Insoo started once he had checked Eve and Minhyun’s clay, “we’re going to use a rolling pin to roll the clay flat. Be careful not to make it too flat.”
After rolling out their clay, they cut off the extra pieces on the side. They rolled the clay once more, making it thinner and smoother.
“Trace out the shape you want your tray to be,” Insoo instructed, drawing a circle on his clay with his finger. Eve drew a water puddle shape and Minhyun drew a rectangle. After tracing the shape, they cut it out with a knife.
“What do we do with the extra clay?” Minhyun asked, holding the excess clay in his hand.
Insoo answered, “We’re going to use it now. We’ll roll it into a cylinder shape.”
“Like this?” Eve asked, rolling her clay.
Insoo nodded. “That’s perfect.”
“How long have you been making pottery?”
“Um, about thirty years.”
Eve gasped. “That’s older than Minhyun and I. You must be really old.”
Insoo laughed. “Nobody’s ever said that to my face.”
“I’m sorry,” she apologised, bowing her head.
[Baby chick who has no filter]
When they had all rolled their clay, Insoo cut it in half down the middle for them. They then applied water to the edge of their tray clay and put half of the rolled up clay on the water area, creating a barrier. They used a wooden stick to smooth it down, creating a seamless connection between the two clays and used their fingers to make it smooth.
“I’m doing better than I thought I would,” Minhyun said, inspecting his clay. “I really thought I was going to do bad, but I’m doing okay.”
“You’re both doing good,” Insoo complimented. “I’m impressed. Now, take your sponge, dip it in the water and ring it out. Then wipe it along your tray.”
“Are we washing it?” Eve asked.
“Kind of.” After doing that, Insoo clapped his hands. “That was really good. Now, they need to air dry.”
Eve scratched her nose and put her hands back on the table.
“You got clay on your face,” Insoo told her.
“Really?” She tried wiping it off, spreading more clay on her face. “Is it gone?”
“It’s on your hands, so the more you touch your face..”
She groaned. “Making pottery… it’s not easy. Just imagine if I tried to touch my hair. That would be the end!”
[7 days later…]
“We’re back everybody!” Eve shouted.
“How do you have so much energy?” Minhyun asked. “Even the other day, you were dancing after finishing each step.”
She shrugged. “I’m young. It’s in my nature to have energy.”
“Are you calling me old?” He asked, surprised. He looked to the staff behind the camera in shock before looking back at Eve. “How could you call me old? I’m your guest!”
“You’re so dramatic, no wonder you’re an actor,” she said, causing everyone to laugh. “Insoo, please direct us once again.”
“Yes.” He walked to a drawer and fetched their trays, putting them on the table. “As you can see, the trays have changed colour. That’s because it was fully dried.” Minhyun and Eve nodded. “Now, it’s time for the fun part: painting!”
“This is what I was looking forward to the most,” Eve admitted, holding her tray.
“Choose what colour paint you would like,” he said.
“Since you’re the guest, you should choose first,” Eve told Minhyun.
“Okay.” Minhyun picked black and white. “I googled some ideas yesterday, so I know what I want to do.”
“I don’t know what I’m going to do,” she admitted with a laugh. She picked pink, yellow and orange.
“I’m sure you’ll think of something,” Insoo said, picking purple and blue for his tray.
The three got to painting their trays.
“Minhyun, how do you feel about being known as a top visual?” Eve asked.
“What do you mean?”
She looked up at him. “A lot of attention is put on your visuals more than anything else. Do you wish more people paid attention to you singing, dancing and acting? Or even just to you as a person?”
He stared at her. “You’re really good at this,” he said with a laugh, shaking his head. “Wah, really… wah. I–I don’t even remember the question.”
[Minhyun is amazed by Eve’s interviewing skills]
Insoo repeated the question as Eve was too busy hiding behind the counter.
Minhyun nodded. “Yes. But my visuals are what sucks people in and then they later come to know about my personality and my talents and things like that. There are times I wish people paid more attention to my work than my face, but it helps. Because I get more acting opportunities.”
Eve hummed, having stood up when Minhyun answered the question. “So basically, your face is what people see, and everything else about you is your hidden side?”
“You’re a real pro!” He exclaimed.
“I’m so impressed,” Insoo commented.
Eve shook her head. “No, it’s just basic interviewing!”
“It seems very advanced to me.”
“Aigo, no!”
They continued painting their trays until they were finished.
“Now, we let it dry and then tomorrow, we can do the final step,” Insoo said.
“This is such a long process,” Minhyun commented.
“Right,” Eve agreed. She addressed the main camera, “See you tomorrow.”
[The next day…]
“Okay, everyone, it’s our last day of working on our trays. How has it been for you?” Eve asked her two guests.
“It was so much fun, I really enjoyed myself,” Minhyun answered. “Even though it’s taken more than a week, it feels as if it happened really quickly.”
“You two are the best beginners I’ve ever taught,” Insoo said, causing the staff to cheer. “I’m really impressed by how well you did everything.”
“Thank you, thank you,” Eve thanked. “Should we finish up now?”
“Yes.” Insoo fetched their trays and put them on the table. “As you can see, the trays have been painted, but they look dull. So we’re going to add a layer of varnish to the trays to add a glossy look. Just dip your paint brush into the varnish and apply a thin layer onto the top and then the bottom. You can add another layer if you think you need to, but I don’t think we’ll need to.”
The three applied the layer of varnish to their trays, talking as they finished up their pottery. Once they finished applying it, they showed them off to the camera, Minhyun first, Insoo second and Eve last.
“Thank you for coming on the show, Minhyun and thank you for being a good teacher, Insoo,” Eve said. “Please remember to support Hidden Side a lot. See you soon, bye!”

hi hello I hope you're day evening etc. is going alright. sending metaphysical pancakes or sth your way if you want them and if you're up to it maybe asking for. advice. in return. though I'm strongly assuming the only solution here is ✨communication✨ but unfortunately on occasion that is scary and hard to figure out
so. my partner wants to live with me. ideally for me to move in with them. which is great! I've been sorta dreaming about that for years! all good, right?
well. the thing is. we've been planning to live together in the past. repeatedly. repeatedly and not continuously because somehow the plans were always cancelled, and hate to say it but never from my side. I don't like pointing this out to them bc it sounds like I'm holding a grudge or sth, though they always had valid reason for backing out and obviously it's better anyway for both of us if they back out if they don't feel ready rather than having to deal with a difficult-to-reverse situation like sharing a living space. but nonetheless it has happened... 3? 4? times over the last... decade or so and I'm having a hard time trusting that this time it's not gonna suddenly pulled back again which would. y'know. hurt kinda.
additionally, we've both moved into our respective flats fairly recently (2 and 1 years aho respectively), and neither is really made for 2 people. theirs would work alright if needed but I'm fairly certain we'd want/need more space sooner rather than later, and I don't really want to move all the time since it's bloody exhausting. and like... we DO have pretty different idk styles of living? they're all about pretty places and a good level of tidiness, and I'm kind of a mess with stuff everywhere and mismatched furniture and decoration bc functionality trumps style and also I collect all the stuff that I like and display it regardless of whether it objectively looks "good". meaning, and in the past we'd always agreed on this, that it'd be good if we both did have separate spaces at our disposal, so the general living space can be nice and aesthetic and they can decorate their space how they like and I can contain my chaos in my own space without bothering anyone much. except now out of the blue they seem adamant to move in together asap and get really excited about it and I HAVE explained most of this but they seem insistent on making it work somehow which is. sweet, and I do love that apparently it's become so important to not be separated from me for long, but I have a hard time trusting that as well due to uhhh our relationship history idk.
it's just. it's sweet and I should be over the moon but I can't share their optimism regarding making it work (I don't want fighting to happen bc I left my stuff lying around too much) and I can't fully trust the whole thing so now it's just them being excited and me being sort of a buzzkill and I'm not really sure how to. address. all of it
sorry this got long haha please don't feel obliged to answer or anything, and take care!
I think your feeling are totally reasonable. I’ve had a partner who would always say they were going to come over and then something always came up so I just… stopped hoping. It’s soul-crushing! I think it’s a reasonable boundary to say “listen this has been an issue in the past and every time you say you wanna move in and then back out even if you have your reasons and they are valid it still hurts me, even if it doesn’t have anything to do with me”. I’m lucky that my ex and I both had similar living styles so the idea was when we moved in together like we would function well. We pretty much already lived together on weekends, so we knew we worked out well. I think having someone stay at your place/stay at someone’s place for a few days is a great test to see how you guys live together. But yeah, as someone who is poly, I’ve always been adamant about the fact I would want my own bedroom in a polycule situation. For a lot of reasons I need my own space in a shared living area. Things like that aren’t easy, and I’m not going to say “it’s just about communicating” because while it is yes it also seems like “maybe your partner needs to work on not getting your hopes up about things like that only to back track” (aka you establishing that boundary).

Been reading your posts about Jason Todd, which admitedly was kind of hard, and i've found that i agree with a lot of your posts, but maybe because ive start paying attention, i kind divided between the idea that Jason was more interesting before the New 52, and also wishing him to be something else than just a batman villain, it's weird and i don't how to feel about this character, and in kind of curious about something, if you had to make a redemption, or at least a less villanous writing of the character, how would you do it?
okeydokey sorry about leaving this in my inbox for so long, I just genuinely didn't have energy then forgot about it :P
For redemption, I think it could be somewhat difficult but not impossible. I do want to point out that Countdown to Final Crisis (link) kind of had like an arc for him where it seemed like they were maybe leading to him being less supervillain/crime-lord-y, but they swerved at the end. like he was like "actually u know what? never mind." which I think makes sense for him there, b/c its coming right off "not killing this guy I thought was a threat* lead to a universe getting destroyed, so I should always go ahead and kill people if I think it's right."
I recently got another jason ask so putting that here (link) but I think another thing new earth Jason generally suffers from is black and white thinking. like lots of people equate "oh willing to kill" as "more morally gray, less black and white", but all Jason does is find a category of people he thinks it's OK to kill and then kill them, and if people who wouldn't otherwise fall in his category of 'ok to kill' happen to get hurt... that's just how it is. There's not really any nuance in his worldview.
i would have his worldview challenged by maybe having a character who is like a reflection of young him (dad or mom involved in organized crime) get involved in the plot. Jason kills their dad/mom (whoever was involved in crime) and the character wants revenge.
we should also just see jason be genuinely WRONG about being judge-jury-and-executioner. not as in "obviously it's wrong" but as in "he doesn't think a ton before he kills people, generally assumes he's right, so he kills someone he otherwise wouldn't have thought deserved it". I think that'd be an easier way to challenge his worldview than addressing the whole "no one should be extrajudicially murdering people" thing.
Like fandom makes a big deal about it, but Jason does not primarily go after rapists or human traffickers or w/e. he will kill human traffickers if he stumbles across them, as seen in red hood: lost days, but he seeks out people involved in the drug trade and drug dealers. and it's not even "he always kills people who break his 1 rule of don't deal drugs to children". he kills people regardless when it helps him intimidate other crime bosses or when he's done recruiting his organization (link) ... I realize that doesn't segue into a less-villainy-arc but i typed it out so leaving it here :P
anyway so how i'd write the arc is have jason remember his childhood and be forced to confront what he's doing via a character who acts as a parallel to young him, and him killing someone who he thinks wouldn't deserve it just due to a misjudgment at his case. I think it could be interesting if he interacted with Damian and Cass, in that both of them have killed people (cass once, damian a bunch) and then are the more anti-killing superhero guys**. I especially think Damian would be well equipped to be condescending to Jason while trying to poke holes in his logic. But IDK fandom kind of flattens Damian and Cass when Jason is involved so many not.
*as pointed out in that post tho, Jason was pro-killing him out of ignorance, tho, he didn't really know what was going on he just happened to be right.
**at least thats how i interpret the end of the first 6 issues of Robin: son of Batman I realize there are other interpretations for Damian
