Gin ye ca' me fairy,
I'II work ye muckle tarrie;
Gin guid neibour ye ca' me;

Popular Rhymes of Scottland by Robert Chambers
Modern English:
If you call me imp or elf,
I’ll advise you to watch yourself;
If you call me fairy,
I’ll cause you much trouble;
If good neighbor you call me;
Then good neighbor I will be;
But if you call me seelie wight,
I’ll be your friend both day and night.

I need someone who knows folklore to answer this
Are bells said to ward off all fairies or just "evil" ones?

I'd love to hear about the good folk/good neighbors! (not if that's an interest of yours, felt like I might as well ask)
I, personally, do not work with the good folk, nor do I have any intentions to do so.
I am not the best person to ask on the subject, but I will give it a go (and, please feel free to correct me in a respectful way!)
As I have heard, the good folk have very different rules and social codes than humans do, meaning it is easy to offend them or to fall into a contract with them. They are very contract orientated, meaning that if they do something for you, you are indebted to them for as long as they see fit. Not saying these are bad creatures, just different from our norms.
Because of this, many will try to discourage you from working with them, or they will say mean and nasty things about them to try and deter people from working with our otherworldly neighbors. I am not saying never work with them, but if you have been practicing for two years or less or if you have not been researching these creatures, do not attempt to work with them.
There are many different types of neighbors, meaning many different types of moral codes. This is not a subject to the new witches or to those that will not actually learn about them.

Today my therapist introduced me to a concept surrounding disability that she called "hLep".
Which is when you - in this case, you are a disabled person - ask someone for help ("I can't drink almond milk so can you get me some whole milk?", or "Please call Donna and ask her to pick up the car for me."), and they say yes, and then they do something that is not what you asked for but is what they think you should have asked for ("I know you said you wanted whole, but I got you skim milk because it's better for you!", "I didn't want to ruin Donna's day by asking her that, so I spent your money on an expensive towing service!") And then if you get annoyed at them for ignoring what you actually asked for - and often it has already happened repeatedly - they get angry because they "were just helping you! You should be grateful!!"
And my therapist pointed out that this is not "help", it's "hLep".
Sure, it looks like help; it kind of sounds like help too; and if it was adjusted just a little bit, it could be help. But it's not help. It's hLep.
At its best, it is patronizing and makes a person feel unvalued and un-listened-to. Always, it reinforces the false idea that disabled people can't be trusted with our own care. And at its worst, it results in disabled people losing our freedom and control over our lives, and also being unable to actually access what we need to survive.
So please, when a disabled person asks you for help on something, don't be a hLeper, be a helper! In other words: they know better than you what they need, and the best way you can honor the trust they've put in you is to believe that!
Also, I want to be very clear that the "getting angry at a disabled person's attempts to point out harmful behavior" part of this makes the whole thing WAY worse. Like it'd be one thing if my roommate bought me some passive-aggressive skim milk, but then they heard what I had to say, and they apologized and did better in the future - our relationship could bounce back from that. But it is very much another thing to have a crying shouting match with someone who is furious at you for saying something they did was ableist. Like, Christ, Jessica, remind me to never ask for your support ever again! You make me feel like if I asked you to call 911, you'd order a pizza because you know I'll feel better once I eat something!!
Edit: crediting my therapist by name with her permission - this term was coined by Nahime Aguirre Mtanous!
Edit again: I made an optional follow-up to this post after seeing the responses. Might help somebody. CW for me frankly talking about how dangerous hLep really is.

Can’t stop thinking about how all of S2, Aziraphale is throwing himself at Crowley physically (the hand on his chest in the bar, the dance, the hand on his shoulder when Gabe and Beez say being together is more important than sides) waiting for Crowley to make the next move, while Crowley is throwing himself at Aziraphale emotionally (trying to make the humans fall in love by engineering a rainstorm, letting Aziraphale drive his car, recommending Alpha Centauri as a place for Gabe and Beez to go). And how in the final 15, they finally get closer to giving the other what they have been asking for all season, but it’s twisted and miscommunicated: “come with me” Aziraphale says and all Crowley hears is “to heaven”; “I need you” Aziraphale says, and all Crowley hears is “to change for me”; Crowley grabs Aziraphale and kisses him the way Aziraphale has wanted all season and Aziraphale, thinking it’s a temptation away from Heaven, forgives him instead of kissing him back.

My dash only includes a small number of witchy people so reblog or comment on this post if you:
Post witchcraft related things (spells, correspondences, tips), im hex positive, but against love spells that interfere will free will or if you don't have consent. So I don't really want to see that stuff. Definitely wanna see creative hexes though.
Talk about Norse mythology, or Norse paganism, not necessarily in a religious way, but religious posts don't bother me and I find them interesting sometimes, I'm just not religious myself.
Work with spirits like the fae, ghosts, tree spirits, demons and anything in between. I'm lookin hard for people like this! Any talk about strange creatures and working with them is fun for me. I definitely want to learn more about working with various folk lore spirits and i dont know where to start. And if you are a paranormal investigator I definitely wanna see that!
Talk about shadow work or if you personally somehow mix mental and emotional healing with your craft im interested.
Please help me fill my feed to the brim with occult knowledge mwahaha

This might seem like an "old man yells at cloud" situation, but it's just wild growing up and being told how dangerous distracted driving is - how, at highway speeds, you can traverse the length of a football field (100 yards, 91 meters) in a matter of seconds - how one split second sending a text while driving could result in a potential fatal crash, and then getting on the road as a driver and being surrounded by billboards. Their entire purpose is to catch one's attention, so they're lining major roads, which tend to be highways. How is it that you're told how important it is to never be distracted while driving, but still being advertised to?
At best, this type of advertising is an eyesore to pedestrians and motorists and a general waste of electricity to light it, and at worst, it is an active danger considering they are there to advertise and therefore, must catch people's attention.
I'm not even against advertising in theory, but this particular mode bothers me so much and I hate how pervasive it is - especially in large cities or highways.

I was writing up a post to help encourage folks who’ve always wanted to start a webcomic to dive in- and that they shouldnt have to fear ‘being perfect’ to start one
And as I was going along, it made me sad to realise that.. there is an expectation now in the webcomic sphere, as much as I want to deny it (and that it should NOT stop folks from creating!!! please keep creating, no matter your level)
I’m bummed out about the changes in the webcomic sphere over the past 5 years, i’m disappointed that there has been changes to this medium that was KNOWN for all of the different skill levels and flavours of so many different creators.
I want to combat that.
I want to see more beginner art, I want to see that excitment and embracing of growth. I want to see what made webcomics so accessible to so many creators and readers flourish again.
Hopefully, if you see this post, and you’ve always wanted to make a webcomic but felt you weren’t ‘good enough’ :
Make one anyways. Have fun even if you don’t know all the ‘ins and outs’ of comics. Make one because you’re obsessed with your characters and you wanna share them with the world. Make one just because you can, and not because it has to fit in some impossible standard we’ve forced onto ourselves because of the changing landscape.
Start one, and have fun doing it for YOU!
