"How would you know?"
Kozmotis regarded him thoughtfully as they took a sip from the bubbly beverage before answering. "Because, I can taste your fear of it, frostling."
Jack blanched. The taller man smirked before setting their flute of champagne down.
"Much like our host of the evening, who can enhance the emotions of what already exists, I can evoke and feed from what you fear."
Jack grimaced. "But why--what purpose does that serve?"
Kozmotis blinked at him before settling on a soft smile. "To absolve guilt over the truth. What is fear but an instinctual reaction to the truth we bury within?" He looked past Jack, gaze unfocused as he folded his hands behind his back. "What is guilt but anger at ourselves for refusing to accept truth?"
Kozmotis blinked again and refocused back on Jack. "I help those to simply accept the truth as it is, where they are at, no judgment."
Jack looked away, brow furrowed as he rolled a grape between his fingers.
Kozmotis hesitated a moment before tentatively offering his hand. "If you'll allow me," he glanced away towards the crowd and then back, "Allow me to share your burden, to ease your soul. And maybe...maybe you will find the courage you require to say what you need to say to that "over-sized kangaroo", as you so eloquently put."
